What I Watched Today
(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)
General Hospital
In Ankara, Turkey, Robert and Sonny enter a hotel room. Robert says, all clear. His sense tells him this is where they’re meant to be. Sonny says there’s no one there, and Robert asks if he expected Dante to be there smoking a hookah. Sonny says he’s not the patient type, but Robert says, sit tight.
Alexis calls Neil, saying she’s done some thinking and gotten some insights. She hears someone at the door. It’s Julian.
At Charlie’s, Sam asks Kristina if Julian is there, but Kristina says, so far he’s a no show. Sam was hoping to take her for girls night out. Kristina tells her it’s not busy, so keep her company. She asks how Sam is since she ended things with Jason. Sam thinks she’s taking things harder than he is. Carly will make sure Jason doesn’t have time miss her.
Carly lies at the bottom of a hill, unconscious.
Gun at the ready, Jason kicks in the hotel room door, but no one is there. He looks through the room. Laura has followed him, because she can’t listen. He tells her, they’re gone.
At the Niagara River, Ryan pulls Ava across the footbridge. He says they can’t allow anyone to alert Port Charles about where they are. Ava says they need to call 911. Carly was in bad shape. He says he handled it, and she says he dropped her off. It’s freezing out, and Carly could die. He says, and?
Nina tells Michael that Crimson can profile Jordan, and they’ll get the word out. Michael says he’ll help; the higher profile it is, the more people will sign up as donors. His sister is alive because of an organ transplant, so he’s paying it forward. Nina says he’s a stand-up guy, but he says, no; he’s just a guy. She asks what he’s doing right now. She has someone she’d like him to meet.
Valentin sits outside Charlie’s when Sasha comes along. He says he sees she was called to the wedding summit too, and she says maid-of-honor at Nina’s service. He asks if she’s still having misgivings. She says she doesn’t want Nina getting hurt. Valentin says that’s how he knows he picked the right person to be her daughter.
Maxie and Peter sit in Charlie’s. Maxie says Valentin is hiding something, and Peter says, yes. She says the only thing that would make him put up with Obrecht, is if she has leverage on him. Peter agrees. She says the only leverage could be something that would hurt Nina, and Peter says, yes. She says, and the only thing that would hurt Nina is if the daughter she thinks she has, isn’t. Peter agrees, and she asks if he ever says no. He says, not to her.
Sonny tells Robert that the WSB is the reason Dante got mixed up in this. Now, they’ve lost track of him. They argue, and a woman comes in. She says apparently the boys can’t always get along.
Carly comes to. She coughs, and wonders, what happened?
Laura tells Jason that they’re stuff is still there. Maybe they’re coming back. He says, they’re headed for Canada. It’s only a half mile across the footbridge, and they’ll be difficult to track. That has to be why Ryan chose the hotel.
Ryan tells Ava that they’ve lingered long enough; it’s just a little further. If they cross the border by foot, they’ll be harder to track, and it will be easier to disappear. She says, from the police, but not Sonny and Jason. She’s tried. He’s asking her to trust him, but she says she doesn’t want be party to murder. If he was acting like himself, he wouldn’t want to be either. He says they have to move, so they’re not a party to anything. There’s a cabin on the other side where they can plot their next move. Ava thinks their next move should be to call the police.
Alexis tells Julian that she’s working. What can she do for him? He says he wouldn’t come by if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. She says, that’s not an answer, reminding me of Judge Judy. She lets him in, and asks, what is it? He says, it’s Oscar. Things are slowly getting worse. She asks why he’s not with Kim, and he says, she has Drew. Alexis thought they worked through that. He says, it doesn’t matter. Drew and Kim are always the endgame. Like her and him.
Carly struggles to get up. She wonders where she is, and says, what the hell? She flashes back to seeing Ryan in the garage, and says, Kevin?
Ava says Ryan will go down for killing Carly, and she’ll go down for being his accomplice. He did it for her, right? He says everything he does, he does for her. She says, if they go on the run, they’ll get caught and be separated. Maybe forever. He says he’d never let that happen, but she says, the situation is already out of control. He needs to stop it before it gets worse. Let her call 911. They can make it right.
Kristina asks when was the last time Sam saw Jason? Sam says, it’s been a while. He’s off taking care of Carly. Kristina says, shocker. He can’t commit to Sam wholeheartedly. He never has, and never will. How many times has he left her worrying while he rescues someone, usually Carly? Sam says he’s rescued her too. Kristina asks if that’s the kind of life she wants. Sam says, it’s hard to detach, but Kristina says Shiloh can teach her. That’s what DOD is all about; it’s a process. Sam wishes she could snap her fingers, and fix it. Kristina says it’s worth investing in herself. She did. She’s been reading the literature, and going to the seminars.
Alexis asks Julian how many times she has to say it, and Julian says as many times as she drops into Charlie’s. She says her daughter works there. Julian says, so does he. She says, this is absurd, and he says she has the indignant thing down, but can’t seem to stick to it because she wants him. She says his ego knows no bounds. He says, it’s obvious with the emotional push and pull. One minute, she’s cheering him on with Kim, and the next talking about a future with him. She finds ways to lessen the distance between them, then she’s flaunting her relationships in his face. Finn, and then the shrink. She says she doesn’t have a relationship with the shrink. He asks if she isn’t exhausted. She says the only place she wants him to be is behind her. He says, that can be arranged.
In Turkey, the woman introduces herself as the station chief. She says Robert’s reputation precedes him, but it’s hard to do her job and keep a low profile when they’re picking fights with the neighborhood thugs. Sonny says nothing comes between him and his kids. He tells her the fortune teller get-up almost got him. She says she had to secure a false identity. They’ll be meeting with a local freelancer. Sonny asks what are they waiting for? Let’s go get him.
Alexis tells Julian that he’s indecent; get out. He says she wants him, but she says, no, she doesn’t. He says she wants him bad and rough, but decent. She makes it hard for him; turning himself inside out, while she fights it. Why not admit she wants him? She slaps him, and he says she can do better than that. She slaps him again, and he says she can hurt him or take him. She grabs him, and kisses him.
Sam asks Kristina if the high-level courses are expensive. Kristina says they’re worth it. It’s a select group, but she’s sure Shiloh would make room for Sam. Sam asks if it’s like an inner circle, but Kristina says, Shiloh would never refer to it that way. Sam says, it sounds exclusive, and Kristina says, in a sense. Kristina goes to wait on someone, and Sam leaves Jason a message. She knows he’s out looking for Carly, but she’s with Kristina at Charlie’s. Kristina told her that Shiloh has upper level seminars that are expensive, and only lets an elite few in. He’s sketchy, but Kristina doesn’t realize it.
Peter calls Maxie a hypocrite. She’s asking the town pariah for advice? She says he has Faison to blame, but she broke two parents’ hearts. She asks if he knows how Georgie came to be, and he wonders if she’s going to give him a birds and bees talk. She says Dante and Lulu can’t have children, so she offered to be their surrogate. Peter says, that’s incredibly selfless. She says she got pregnant, but miscarried. She was so devastated, she found comfort with Spinelli, and they ended up making Georgie. She was pregnant with the wrong baby, and had no idea how to tell them. Peter says, so she didn’t? She says she convinced herself that she could give up her own child. She was scared to let Lulu down. Peter says women miscarry all the time; it wasn’t her fault. Maxie says she couldn’t come to terms with it, and the baby was born. She had a beautiful little girl, and handed her over. Peter says, it must have been agony, and Maxie says, worse. She wanted her baby back. She dug a huge hole, giving them time to fall in love with the baby, and then had her ripped away. Peter says she and Lulu are fine; there must have been a happy ending. She says, it took a while, but Lulu finally forgave her. If anyone knows what it’s like to tell lies for the right reasons, he’s looking at her.
Valentin says Sasha can see how happy Nina is. Sasha says, Nina radiates joy, but that could end at any moment. Valentin says they’re not taking anything away from Nina, but giving her something she wants above all else. Nina drags Michael over to them, and introduces Sasha.
Robert tells Sonny to be patient. Sonny asks, would Robert be patient if it was Robin? Dante has been gone for months, tracking Raj. His wife nearly died, and he wasn’t there because the WSB dropped the ball. The chief says Dante took it upon himself to go out on his own. His trail is out of their reach, and Sonny’s. Raj got to his son before his son got to Raj.
Carly yells, asking if anybody is there, or can hear her.
Ryan says he’s not going to Canada without Ava. She’s his reason for being. He knows he made it difficult, and there will be hardships, but they can handle anything life throws at them. He asks her to take a chance with him. He’ll make it up to her. Together they’ll be reborn, and be bigger, grander, and better than they would be apart. They’re destined to be together. Ava says, okay; she’ll come with him. Who is she to argue with destiny? He says there she is, his beautiful, gorgeous goddess in all her glory. He loves her. They start to walk across the bridge, but Jason shows up, and shoots Ryan in the shoulder.
Julian and Alexis get busy. We don’t even get a song part. Ha-ha! She jumped into his arms, and looked like she might fall.
Robert asks, when? and the chief says, a few weeks ago. Dante felt his reliance on the Bureau was hampering his ability to get to Raj, and cut off communication. He was anxious to get back, and insisted on speeding it up. They picked up chatter, and now there’s a new player looking to make contact. Their meeting was a disaster, ending in spilled blood. Sonny asks if his son is dead.
Maxie tells Peter, maybe they should let go of the DNA thing. Everyone is happy. Peter trusts her and her judgment, but also offers this. Growing up, he was surrounded by lies. They resonate and fester whether you want them to or not. He sees the argument for both sides. Sadly, his moral compass says she should decide. She asks if he’s gong to be no help whatsoever, and he says, sorry. She says maybe they should think in steps. She jumped to the end, and that never bodes well. First, they need to find out if Sasha is Nina’s daughter. Then they can decide what do. Peter is in.
Valentin, Nina, Sasha, and Michael come in. Sasha tells Michael, this isn’t awkward at all. Sometimes Nina can be a bit much, so if he wants to bail… He says he’s good, unless she… She’s good too. She asks what he does, and he says he’s CEO of a multinational conglomerate. She laughs, then says, he’s not kidding; impressive. He asks what she does, but she says she doesn’t want to tell him now. She’s entry level at a fashion magazine. He says she must work at Crimson, and thinks it’s awesome. She asks what it’s like to run a company, but he says he doesn’t do it by himself. He asks if she wants a drink, and they go to the bar.
Sam tells Kristina that Daisy came to her place. She seemed to be on an apology tour to get back in Shiloh’s good graces. She seemed like she was pretty desperate, begging Sam’s forgiveness. Kristina asks if Sam forgave her, and Sam says she’s not happy about the emails, but they didn’t hurt anybody. She’s not holding it against Daisy. Kristina says, that’s very generous, and Sam says, like they say at DOD, it’s all about timing.
Ryan says Jason hit him in the shoulder, and Ava asks what’s wrong with them? Laura tells her to get away, but Ava says Doc is having a breakdown. Laura says, he’s not Doc; he’s Ryan Chamberlain. Ava asks what she’s talking about, and Laura knows it sounds crazy. Ava says Doc has had a breakdown before, but Laura says, he’s back in Port Charles. Ryan tells her not to let them manipulate her. They just want to keep them apart. Ava says, Ryan is dead, and Laura says they thought so too, but they were wrong. Jason shoots into the air, and says the next one will be between Ryan’s eyes. Ryan says not to threaten him, or Jason won’t know what he did with Carly.
Carly continues calling for help. She says, the only way out is up, and starts to climb, but it’s a slick, slanted wall. Maybe she should take those heels off.
Sonny says, no more runaround. Is his son alive? The chief says they think so. They think Raj has taken him prisoner, but they can’t infiltrate his operation. Sonny suggests trying a different tactic. She says it’s her way or not at all, and tells Sonny, stay out of it. She leaves, and Sonny tells Robert that he’s going to find Dante – whatever it takes. Robert says, not without him.
A phone alarm goes off, and Alexis asks if Julian has to go. He says, no; she does. In Alexis’s mind, a bunch of clocks swirl around and chime. Julian asks if she knows what time it is. Alexis wakes up on the couch, and looks at her mother’s watch.
Sonny tells Robert that he doesn’t have to, but Robert says he does. His daughter will have his hide. They’ll get a line on Raj, and bring Dante back themselves. Sonny says, it doesn’t sit right. Raj didn’t hesitate to get rid of Lulu. Why hold on to Dante? Robert says, maybe Dante isn’t his prisoner, and Sonny says, maybe he’s a hostage.
Kristina serves Michael and Sasha. Sasha says Michael must be a regular, since the bartender knows his drink. He says she’s his sister, and introduces her to Kristina and Sam. He leaves a big tip, and Kristina says, it’s too generous. He tells her to take it or he’ll knock it off the principle. Kristina tells Sam that he’s helping cover a couple of the courses she’s taking.
Valentin tells Peter that it looks like he and Maxie are having a fine time. If he ever feels not worthy of her, tell himself, as long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters, and fake the rest.
Nina shows Maxie a giant binder, saying she would be overwhelmed if it wasn’t so much fun. Maxie asks, what’s up with Sasha and Michael? Nina says, aren’t they cute? She introduced them.
Sasha tells Michael that she doesn’t associate the corporate world with the green initiative, but he says he’s been trying to take ELQ in that direction. Sasha says she’s interested in the environment, and Michael asks if she’s open to kelp farming. She asks if that’s a thing, and he says, it’s in the early stages, but it’s going to be big, and it’s good for the environment. It’s used for food, fuel, and even cosmetics. Sasha thinks they can run an article in Crimson. Maxie comes up behind Sasha, and plucks a hair out of her head. Sasha asks what she’s doing, and Maxie says she saw a grey, and she can’t have that. Maxie smiles at Peter, and Sasha looks at Valentin, who looks at Maxie.
Alexis comes into the house, and takes a bottle of vodka out of her bag. She looks at it, and spins it around.
Carly continues to climb. Still in her heels. She remembers Sonny saying, if she dies, what happens to Avery? The only mother figure she’ll have is that bitch. Carly says she’s getting the hell out of there.
Jason says he’s not warning Ryan again. Ava says he dropped Carly off five miles east. Ryan tries to stop her from talking, but she asks if he thinks Jason is kidding. Jason will kill him, and she can’t let that happen. She tells Jason, Carly was in bad shape. If he wants to save her, he has to go now. Ryan asks why she’s telling him, and Ava says he’s sick and needs a doctor. No matter what he says, he doesn’t want to be responsible for a woman’s death. He touches her face, and says he’s sorry they won’t have their happily ever after, but they will have a happy ending. He grabs her, and takes her over the side of the bridge with him.
On Monday, Finn asks Alexis what she’s running from, Sonny wants to meet Raj face to face, and Carly falls back down.
