What I Watched Today
(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)
General Hospital
Brook thanks Valentin for a ride to the pool (🍷). Bailey can get some fresh air and sunshine, while she gets some lunch. How long is his meeting going to be? Maybe they can catch a ride going back. He says, of course (🍷). His meeting’s right there. He points to Scotty and Austin, lying on lounge chairs, and tells her to enjoy her lunch. Maxie comes in, and asks if Brook is there for lunch; they can sit together. She tells Bailey/Louise it’s good to see her
Austin says, Valentin, my man. Pull up a chaise. Suck up some vitamin D. Valentin sits, and Austin says, and explain to him why he should vote to keep Valentin as CEO of ELQ. Scotty sits up, and Valentin smiles at him.
Alexis jumps a bunch of Shawn’s checkers, and says, king me. He says she’s a shark. He should have known better than to play with her. She says she’s glad he threw caution to the wind. She’s missed him. He says he’s missed her too. This is definitely an improvement over Pentenville. He just wishes she was out of the system altogether. She says, it’s a nice prison, but it’s still a prison. How is his new life on the outside? Sam comes in, and asks, who’s winning? He says, her mom. Alexis asks if everything is okay, and Sam says, that depends. She got a call from Drew.
Gladys, Brando, and Lucy approach Sasha’s table at the MetroCourt, and Sasha asks how the apartment hunting is going. Gladys sits, and says, terrible. They’ve been to seven apartments, and none of them was acceptable. Lucy and Brando sit, and Gladys says, good thing Lucy has Deception. She doesn’t think this real estate gig is going to pay off for her. Lucy says, considering she’s doing this as a big, fat favor – she looks at Sasha – she’s not really worried about it.
On the phone, Jordan walks down to the docks, saying, she’s glad Mayor Collins and her brother arrived safely. Do they have any more intel on who’s been carrying out Renault’s orders?… Okay, send her the prison phone logs. She wants to know who Cyrus has been talking to. Jason arrives, and she thanks him for meeting her.
At the MetroCourt, Carly looks at her engagement ring, and sighs. Possible competition for Jason. She flashes back to Jason giving it to her. Anna says, hey, startling Carly, and asks if she was daydreaming.
Sonny hears someone walks into the Tan-O, and says, they’re closed. Peter says, Mike, Mike, Mike. Is Nina here? Sonny says, no, and Peter says, she’s not at her place either. He wouldn’t happen to know what she’s up to, would he?
Outside on the phone, Nina asks if Obrecht was able to make arrangements. Obrecht says, it’s all set. She needs Nina to direct Peter to the town of Soufriere in St. Lucia. It’s large enough that tourists won’t be noticed, but too small for any significant police force. Nina says, okay, and once Peter gets there? Obrecht says, the scourge that is Peter August will be eradicated once and for all.
Sonny says he doesn’t expect Nina to tell him where she is every minute of the day. Why would she tell Peter? Peter says he’s sorry his question upset Sonny, but Sonny says, Peter doesn’t seem sorry about anything, least of all, him. Peter says Sonny is perceptive; perhaps it was one of his gifts. Sonny asks if Peter wants more of his perception. Peter had a strong reaction when they first saw one another, like Peter was surprised to see him. Peter says, his point being… and Sonny says, stop now. Does Peter know who he is? Peter says, yes, as a matter-of-fact, he does.
Jason meets Jordan on the docks, and says her message sounded urgent. What did she want to talk to him about? She says, his wedding. He’s inviting more than family and friends. There are business associates on the guest list. He says, right, and she asks if he expects trouble. He wonders if she heard something, and she says, Cyrus may be behind bars, but he’s not sitting quietly.
Nina tells Obrecht, be careful; Peter is on his guard. Obrecht laughs, and says Nina is kind to worry, but Peter is no match for her. His exit is long overdue. No one will miss him, and the world will be a better place without him in it.
Sonny says, if Peter knew who he was before he lost his memory, start talking. Peter tells him, when he said he knew who Sonny was, he meant he knows the type of guy Nina is drawn to, and simply can’t resist.
Sam tells Alexis and Shawn that she heard a commotion, like a struggle, then the line went dead. Alexis says, and she believes it was Drew? but Sam says she doesn’t know what to think. She’s been processing the whole thing, and guesses she believes it was Drew. She’s been asking questions about the plane crash. Dante is helping her investigate, and Anna agreed to let them see the WSB file on the crash. Shawn says, it sounds like she has a lot of support, and Sam tells him that she doesn’t want him to think she dropped the ball on the Hayden Barnes investigation. She’s still going to find the shooter. Shawn says Sam needs answers once and for all, and Drew has to be her focus.
Anna congratulates Carly on her engagement, and says, Jason is a good man. She’s fortunate. Carly agrees that she is, and Anna says, it reminds her of her and Robert. They went to hell and back. They didn’t make it, but she thinks Carly and Jason will succeed, and wishes them every happiness. Carly thanks her, when Mr. Novak comes in. Carly says, she has to work, and excuses herself.
Anna tells Dante, sorry to keep him waiting, and hands him the file, saying, it has all the intel on Drew’s plane crash She hopes he can find something to pursue. He says, he’ll take a look, and let her know. She tells him that she’s available to help, and he says he appreciates that. Any theories? She says, other than Peter is responsible, either Peter, or someone worse, has Drew. If Helena wasn’t dead, she’d say it was her, and Dante says they should send someone to Cassadine Island. She says, done, and he says he was just kidding. She says, the Bureau keeps the place on their radar. She’s learned the past doesn’t stay in the past. Obrecht comes by, and says, truer words were never spoken.
Gladys tells Lucy that she’d like a harbor view, something like the loft space she’d been in. In a trendy area, where there are boutiques and coffee shops. Brando says, the place with the large windows that Lucy showed her would be great, and Lucy says Gladys should reconsider that one. The natural light will make her look better. Sasha says, it sounds great for plants, but Gladys says, no plants, no cats, and no canasta. Next, they’ll want to put her in the old folks home. Brando says he liked the place, and Gladys says, all he needs is a couch and a wide-screen TV; he could live in a cave. Lucy says she was instructed to work within a modest budget, and Gladys says, it’s not her fault she was shot. Brando says, in the shoulder, and Sasha says, three months ago. She returned to work. Gladys says, in the fashion industry. She needs a place suitable to her new career. Sasha says she’s Brook’s assistant, and while it’s important, it’s still an entry level position. Gladys tells Lucy, that reminds her. When can she expect her first raise?
Valentin tells Austin, he’s actually not there to pitch himself. He has a bit of a reputation, but Austin isn’t a voting shareholder just yet, so they’re getting ahead of themselves.
Maxie suggests she just tell Valentin that she and Brook ran into each other, and decided to have lunch. It makes total sense. Brook says, Valentin is trying to pull Austin into his camp so he can retain control of ELQ.
Scotty tells Valentin, they filed a motion with new evidence. Edward left a letter saying he wanted to change his will. It’s only a question of time before Austin gets his voting shares of ELQ. Valentin says, with all due respect, filing a motion is just the beginning of a lengthy and a contentious process, but Austin says, with equal respect, the evidence is strong. He thinks the lawsuit is just a formality. Valentin hopes Austin is right. Assuming Austin becomes a voting shareholder, he’ll want Austin’s support.
Maxie asks Brook, now that Austin found out Edward intended to add his father in the will, what’s next? Brook says, if the judge rules in Austin’s favor, he might be the deciding vote. (Hmm… I thought that was Lucy, and it was set up so it would be someone outside the family.) It’s up to them to convince Austin that the family business is better kept in the family. Maxie says, good luck with that, and Brook says, exactly. Maxie says she’s so sorry. After everything Brook did to put her father back as the head of the company. Now she’s back to square one. Brook says, not entirely. There’s no bigger payoff than keeping Maxie’s baby safe.
Valentin tells Austin, the company has been thriving on his watch. He’s been a very effective CEO. He’s regarded the bottom line, he’s increased profits, and the price of the shares Austin is about to receive have increased and are very strong. He’d say replacing him as CEO at this time would be stupid. Austin tells him, anyone can say they’re well-meaning, honest, and straightforward. That doesn’t mean they are. He believes Valentin thinks he’s some kind of hayseed, but if Valentin thinks he’s some guy who just fell off a turnip truck, he’s not.
Sam tells Shawn, she knows she said she’d help, and she’s going to, but he says, family first – always. Alexis says, if Scout’s father is alive, she should know, and Shawn says, he’ll get justice. He’s not giving up, and not going anywhere. Except to stretch his legs. He gets up, and says he’ll let them talk, but he’s coming back for a rematch. Alexis says she’ll be there. He leaves, and Sam says, he’s great. Alexis says, he certainly is. Sam must have a lot of questions. Sam says, no. She knows it was Drew’s voice.
Obrecht asks Anna for a word, and Anna tells Dante that she’ll be right back. He tells her, good luck.
Carly asks what Novak wants, and he says he wanted to apologize in person for his nephew Joey’s inappropriate behavior. Carly says, if his nephew behaves inappropriately again, he’ll find out firsthand why Jason has the reputation he does. Novak says he’s making arrangements for Joey to be out of the country indefinitely, and she says she hopes so. He says, have no fear. An early wedding present. Gladys listens in, and when he leaves, she sits down. She says, Carly and Jason finally set a date. Her invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. Or is it too awkward to have Sonny’s family at her wedding to Jason?
Lucy asks Sasha and Brando to excuse her for a tiny moment, and leaves the table. Brando says his mother doesn’t know when to quit. Now she’s harassing Carly. Sasha says, Carly can handle his mom, and he says, no question. She says, speaking of Carly, Maxie mentioned that she and Jason set a date of September 17th. He hasn’t said if he’s going, or doesn’t he want her to go with him?
Obrecht asks if there’s been any word on that schwein Henrik, and Anna says, if he’s out there, he’s doing a good job being undercover. Obrecht asks what the chances are that he’s dead, and Anna says, it’s a possibility. She can tell Obrecht this much, she’s not giving up. She’s going to find him, dead or alive.
Peter tells Sonny, when Nina sees someone lost or in pain, she feels compelled to help. He pegged Sonny as her latest charity case. Sonny flies out from behind the bar with a baseball bat, and tells him, say it again. Nina comes in, and runs over, saying, stop. What’s going on? Peter says, just a difference of opinion, and she says, it doesn’t matter. Peter is leaving today. Peter says, oh really? and she says she was able to get in touch with her contact – the fiction editor. He agreed to meet Peter, and if Peter waits outside for her, she’ll fill him in. He says he can’t wait to hear about it. Best of luck… Mike. He leaves, and Nina looks at Sonny. He says, what? That guy is bad news. He doesn’t understand why Nina is listening to him. Nina says, she agrees, and after today, they won’t see Peter again. That’s a promise.
Outside, Nina asks why Peter is provoking Sonny, and he says, who cares? Does she really have a lead, or was her performance for Sonny’s benefit? Nina says, yes, there’s a lead. Anna and Valentin think Louise is in St. Lucia. He says, Valentin just offered up the information, and wasn’t suspicious? and she asks if that isn’t why he blackmailed her. To exploit Valentin’s feelings? He says, Nina doesn’t actually care. Clearly, she’s moved on. She says she told Valentin that she was worried about Maxie, and needed to know if they were any closer to finding a lead. That’s when he told her they had a new lead. Peter wonders, why St. Lucia?
Obrecht asks Anna to keep her apprised if there’s any new information. She’s going away to a medical conference, and she’s worried about Maxie and James. Anna asks if she didn’t lose her license, and Obrecht says, thank you. She’d completely forgotten. She still likes to keep up with new information, and there’s a conference in St. Lucia. She and Scotty are taking advantage of it as a romantic getaway. When he’s finished at the pool (🍷), they’ll be on their way. Anna says, with Scotty? and Obrecht nods and smiles. Anna tells her not to worry about Maxie. She’ll keep an eye on her. Enjoy. Obrecht says she shall, and laughs.
Valentin tells Austin, since he came to ELQ, he’s just wanted to make the company money. Every decision he’s made as CEO is to further that goal. The Quartermaines can fight, bicker, and argue, and not make the company suffer. Austin says, that’s a good point, when Lucy appears, and says she has to speak to her pal (Scotty) pronto. Scotty says, they’re talking business, but she says, pronto. Austin says, they can take a break, and Valentin says he can make some phone calls. They leave, and Lucy calls Scotty a nincompoop, and Scotty says, that’s a little harsh, but Lucy says it’s not. She has harsher words, but she’s kept her mouth sealed this whole time. She’s been a good girl, and hasn’t said one word about his dangerous liaison – his liaisons dangereuses – with Obrech. But him jetting off to an island with her is too far. He says, first of all, it’s Obrecht, with T. She smacks him in the forehead, and tells him, get a grip. Obrecht almost ruined the Nurses Ball for her. She’s out for herself, and if Scotty doesn’t snap out of it, she’ll be the death of him.
Austin approaches Brook and Maxie’s table, and says he’s run into Maxie two days in a row. The universe is trying to tell them something. Maxie says, that the MetroCourt has a great pool (🍷) lunch menu? Brook says, they would have invited him over, but he looks too busy. He says he’s not too busy to say hi to a friend. He and Maxie are friends, right?
Jordan tells Jason that Cyrus is up to his old tricks, intent on revenge. He asks if Carly and her family have been threatened, but she says, not so far. Steps have been taken to protect the parties involved, and she believes the threat has been neutralized… for the moment. He says he appreciates the heads up, and she says she appreciates his cooperation. Who’s doing Cyrus’s dirty work? Does he have any names he can pass along?
Carly says Gladys’s her constant jabs trying to make her feel guilty about marrying Jason won’t work. If she knew anything about Sonny, she’d know Sonny would be all for this. Sonny would want her to move on and be happy. He trusted Jason more than anybody in the whole world. Carly gets that Gladys can’t grasp that concept, and that’s why she’s not invited to the wedding. Gladys says, they’re family, but Carly says, they’re not family. And Gladys better change her attitude if she wants to be part of Brando and his child’s life. Carly leaves, and Gladys sits and stews.
Brando says he wasn’t planning on going to the wedding, and Sasha asks, why not? He says he made a promise to keep his distance, and he meant it. She and the baby are his first priority. She says she appreciates that, but she’d never ask him to give up family
Dante looks through the file, and says, bingo.
Alexis says, if Sam continues to follow this, she has to promise to be careful. Drew was capable and determined guy, but if someone is holding him, Sam finding him could be dangerous. Sam promises to be careful. Her phone rings, and she steps away. Dante asks if she’s still coming in, and she says she’ll be there; she’s with her mom. Did he get the file? He says he did, and there’s something she’s got to see. She says she’ll be right there.
Dante says Sam got there fast (she used the GH teleporter), and she says he told her there was something she needed to see. Anna sits down, and he says they both need to hear this. Drew found Andre in Ethiopia, and sent Andre home before continuing on to Afghanistan, but they didn’t know he’d chartered a flight to Addis Ababa. Anna doesn’t see the significance, and Dante says, Drew wasn’t alone. There was another passenger on the flight.
Alexis tells Shawn, it’s his move, and he says, right. She says maybe they should stop. Neither one of them are paying attention anyway. He says, because of Sam? and she says, because of Sam, because of him. He was very galante; she knows he was disappointed. He let Sam walk away with a clear conscience. He’s a good guy. He says, the one thing he learned in prison was patience, but he didn’t tell her the other part of the story. Hayden’s mother was in town, and gave them a story about Hayden abandoning Violet. The next thing they knew, she’d been murdered. Someone wanted to keep her from talking about Hayden. Alexis asks if he thinks whoever shot Hayden six years ago is still after her, and he says, who knows? If he keeps at this, maybe he’ll uncover more than he bargained for. Jordan thinks he should let it go; focus on his present and future. Maybe she’s right. Alexis says, Jordan is a very smart woman. Of course (🍷) she’s right. Too bad he won’t listen to her.
Jason says this is the first he’s hearing of a threat from Cyrus. Is Jordan sure her sources are good? She says they are. He says, but Cyrus’s organization has been dismantled, and she says, is it possible Cyrus still has an ally on the outside? Can he be 100% certain that no one in the Five Families Tuscan white beans would work with Cyrus?
Sasha tells Brando, there’s a difference between being part of a family and part of the mob. Brando says, with Sonny, there was barely daylight between the two, and she tells him, look at Michael and Dante. He says he thinks Dante is a special case, being a cop, but she says he gets what she’s saying. He wants a life with his child unconnected to the mob, but he’s Sonny’s cousin. Carly and Jason are kind of a family extension. She’d never ask him to cut ties completely. He says, she’s amazing, and Lucy comes back. Sasha says she thought Lucy left, but Lucy says she was just visiting the pool (🍷). Sasha says, apartment hunting with Gladys is taxing, and Lucy says she prides herself on her professionalism. All she can give is her hard won words of wisdom. She can’t help it if certain people don’t listen.
Brook tells Austin that Maxie has more friends than she needs, and doesn’t need another one. Austin asks if that’s true, and Maxie says, it’s not his fault that every time she sees him, she thinks of Louise. She’ll always be grateful that he helped bring Louise into the world, but then Maxie lost her. He says he’s sorry, but she says, don’t be. He says, it’s a real trauma, and he should have considered that. Forgive him. He leaves, and Brook says, oh my God. He’s so into Maxie.
On the phone, Sonny asks if he and Nina can take Phyllis out to dinner… Oh, that’s good news… No, Nina’s not here. She’s outside with that Peter guy. He doesn’t like that guy at all, but he’s leaving today, so good… As a matter-of-fact, if Nina isn’t back in there soon, he’s going out there to send Peter packing.
Nina tells Peter, the WSB tracked a woman with an infant who traveled from Albany to Miami the day after Louise was taken. She rented a cottage on the outskirts of town called Soufriere, St. Lucia. He asks if she has the name of the woman, and she says, what possible reason would she have for asking Valentin her name? He asks how sure she is that the lead is legitimate, and she says, Valentin and Anna are going to St. Lucia tomorrow. He says, that means he can still get there before them. She starts to walk away, but he grabs her arm, and says, if she’s lying, she won’t be the only one who suffers. She says she knows he’s capable of anything, and wouldn’t dare double-cross him.
Jordan tells Jason, Sonny’s death created unrest. She’s glad he shored up Sonny’s interests. He says, he and Carly are getting married; that’s all, but she says, there are many reasons people join their lives. It’s a statement to the world of strength and commitment. Believe her when she says she wishes them the best in their future together. He thanks her, and says, thanks again for the update, and leaves.
Alexis says she knows Shawn, and she knows he’s not walking away from this. He says she’s right. He can’t let it go, especially after Hayden’s mother was killed. She says he knows she likes to dig into something herself, and he asks what she’s thinking. She says maybe they can work together. She’s not a P.I., and she’s not even free, but they made a good team when they were digging up information to expose Judge Carson. She’s thinking they can do it again. What does he say?
Dante asks Anna, what’s with the report being only five pages? and she says she thought it was more window dressing than an investigation. Drew’s plane went down in the Gulf of Adan, there was minimal wreckage, and no bodies. What was there to investigate? Sam says, Dante’s right. There was another passenger on the plane; it just doesn’t say the name. Anna says, that’s interesting, and Dante says he thought that was weird too. Sam says, there’s transaction there that says there was a seat reserved and paid for by a corporation – Leethy Unlimited. Why does it sound familiar? Anna wonders where they’ve heard of that company before.
Gladys asks if Lucy is ready for another round of apartment hunting, and Lucy asks if she’s talking about another round of her unreasonable standards? Glady says she’s sorry if she was unreasonable, and Lucy says, she’s using the if word? Gladys says she realizes she has to get ready for her grandbaby, and needs the perfect apartment. Perhaps with the friends and family discount? Brando says he thinks they’ve had enough for today, and Lucy thinks they’ve had enough for a lifetime. Ta! She leaves, and Gladys says, that was rude. She needs a drink. She goes to the bar, and Brando tells Sasha, he’s so sorry about her… and Sasha says, she’s with Lucy; stop apologizing. Besides Gladys has one major redeeming quality – her son.
Brook says she thinks Maxie broke Austin’s heart, but props to her for chasing him away without suspicion. Maxie tells her, everything she said was the truth. She just left out the part where she’s terrified he’ll remember seeing them together that night. Brook says, but for now at least, she thinks Austin will steer clear of Maxie. Maxie says, good.
Valentin asks Austin, where were we? and Austin tells Valentin that he was saying something that was true. He’s not a fan of Quartermaine infighting, and he’s more than happy to stay on the periphery. Valentin says, the quiet above the fray. Austin can claim what’s rightfully his, but doesn’t have to be the thing he hates.
Scotty leads Obrecht to the only seats on the plane, and she says, a private jet. He says he wanted to go all out for his schnitzel, and she says, it’s too much. He shouldn’t have. He says, nothing is too good for them, and pours champagne. He clinks his glass against hers, but she’s clearly distracted. He asks, what’s wrong? and she says, only her regret that his trip isn’t just pleasure for her. He says, Huntington’s. He wants her also to enjoy island time, and she says, once her business has concluded, she promises she’ll definitely enjoy herself.
Sam tells Anna and Dante that she found it in one of her closed case files. Leethy Unlimited. Dante asks, which case? and Sam says, Nina Reeves.
Sonny starts to head outside, but Nina comes back in. He says he was just going to get her. Is he gone? Nina says, the interview came though, so he left, and Sonny asks if she’s all right. She says, yeah, and he says he doesn’t understand. Peter is so creepy. Why is she helping him? She says she owed him a favor, but now her debt is paid, so can they not talk about him anymore? Did he check on Phyllis? He says, Phyllis is going out to dinner with Janice, and she says she’s glad. He says, since Phyllis is out, and the bar is closed because of Lenny’s death, he thought – he takes her hand – she deserves a little time for herself. She says she likes the way he thinks, and he asks if she’ll go out to dinner with him.
Dante asks when Sam investigated Nina, and she says, it was before Nina came to Port Charles. Nina’s then husband Silas Clay hired her to figure out where Madeline Reeves was keeping her comatose daughter. Anna says, that’s it. Leethy Unlimited. It was the operating company for Creighton-Clark, the facility where Nina was a patient. It was the same place Drew was held before Robin revived him and helped him escape. Dante says, small world… or not.
Shawn goes to the docks, and thanks Jordan for waiting for him. She asks if everything is okay, and he says, for the most part. He gave some thought to what she said about moving on with his life. Her points are valid, reasonable, and practical. She’s glad he sees it that way, and he says he does, but he can’t move on until he gets the truth, and to get the truth, he’s going to need her help.
Austin says Valentin makes some valid points. He’ll take them into consideration. Valentin says he doesn’t need an answer right now, but appreciates Austin’s time. they shake hands, and Brook sees. She says, her poor father. Austin is definitely going with Valentin. Austin tells Valentin that he’ll be in touch.
Maxie tells Brook that she’s sorry, and Brook says, Valentin can be convincing and charismatic when he wants to be. Fortunately for her, she’s got an ace in the hole. Maxie says, who? and Brook smiles.
Going to the bar, Gladys wonders where the bartender is when you need him. Novak says, the hospitality in this place could definitely use an upgrade. He saw her talking to Mrs. Corinthos earlier. Gladys says, she won’t be Mrs. Corinthos for long, and good riddance. He takes it she’s not a fan, and she says, Carly’s late husband – may he rest – was her cousin. He says, she and Sonny were related? and she says, they were like this, crossing her fingers. Carly isn’t showing the proper respect. Remarrying when It’s been less than a year? She’s been civil, but it’s wasted on Carly. The woman has no class. Novak orders a drink, for the lady.
Carly asks Jason if everything is okay, and he says, Cyrus is making a move.
Nina wonders if Sonny is asking her out on a date, and he says it’s something they haven’t had a chance to do; just the two of them. She says, like they’re the only two people in the whole world, and he says, aren’t they? She says, for tonight, they are. It’s just them. She says she knows they had tough times, but maybe now everything is going to be okay. He hugs her, and asks, why wouldn’t it be?
The plane starts to experience turbulence. Obrecht reaches into her pocketbook, presumably to hold her gun in place. She tells Scotty, everything is going to be fine. The lights go out, and everything tumbles sideways.
Tomorrow, Jordan asks if Shawn trusts her to find out the truth, Scotty wonders what the hell is going on, Jason asks who else Cyrus has to settle a score with, and Nina wonders why Sonny would ask her that question.
Below Deck Mediterranean
My first thought it, they can’t even have ranks now because of this twerp – i.e. Lexi.
We slide back a little to Katie telling Lexi, to her, it seems more like laziness. Whether it is or not, that’s how it’s coming across. She isn’t up to second stew standards. Now that they have an extra hand, she doesn’t want to have ranks anymore. She’s doesn’t know how this is going to go down. In Lexi’s interview, she thinks Katie’s decision is idiotic. To demote or suspend them makes no sense. Of course it seems idiotic to her. She probably thought she should get a promotion. New stew Delaney comes onto the boat, and David shows her where the bridge is. In Delaney’s interview, she says she has a psyche and languages degree. The best thing she did in college though, was to join the sailing team. In the second grade, it was discovered she had a speech impediment. But in her second grade mind, she realized if she made it worse, she’d get to skip classes. She meets Captain Sandy, and tells the captain that she was a sailing skipper on boats in Croatia and Greece. She’s a deck/stew because they need to do everything on a small boat. She never did anything in interior, but they did whatever it took to make the guests happy. The captain tells her that they need support inside. In her interview, Captain Sandy says, since it’s a pandemic, she could only get a chef and deck/stew. She chose someone with deck experience, hoping she could learn interior. I would it shouldn’t be that hard to grasp, but on the other hand, why the hell did this woman indicate she had interior experience when she hadn’t? The captain says Delaney will probably be sharing a cabin with a male, and Delaney says she’s cool with that. She’s introduced to Katie, and Captain Sandy says, she was bringing her on for the deck, but she had stew on her resumé, and she thought Katie could use the help. However, it’s Katie’s decision. She’s not forcing Katie to take on a crew member. Delaney says, everything will be new to her, and Katie asks if she’s sure. Delaney says she’s happy to do it, and Katie shows her around.
Mzi comes back from being in the harness, and Malia says he conquered it. Delaney meets her new roommate Mathew, and meets Courtney and Lexi. Delaney tells Malia that she’s worked more on deck, and says, if she has time, she could come out to help. Courtney worries that Delaney’s done no stew work. Delaney moves in her stuff, and in his interview, Mathew says he’s overwhelmed. Reading the preference sheets, they’ve listed enough sh*t for a month of chartering. Courtney gets weepy, and worries that her work is inadequate, but Katie says she’s an effing good stew. She’d be f***ed without Courtney.
David thinks about hitting on Delaney, who he calls Andrea, and in Lloyd’s interview, he thinks David might do well… or he’ll be rejected twice. Who knows? David says he was so wrong thinking her name was Andrea. Delaney gets into her uniform, and in Lexi’s interview, she doesn’t think Katie should keep her title, if they’re all even. She should lead by example. What a peabrain she is. But then, she’s like 30 and still has a slam book. Delaney says she knows nothing about laundry, and in Courtney’s interview, she says just because Delaney worked on a yacht, doesn’t mean it was the same job. She explains the ins and outs of laundry, and in Delaney’s interview, she says she does laundry at home. She was the valedictorian of her high school. She’s not an idiot. She’ll figure it out. I dunno. What was the grade average in her high school? Everything is relative. Provisions come in, and Captain Sandy tells the crew to get in their whites, and meet on dock in 30 minutes.
They line up, and welcome the all-women’s charter aboard. Captain Sandy says, Katie will show them around, then they’ll take off to their destination. Unloading the luggage, Malia notices one guest had brought wine, and she likes their style. Katie gives the tour, and a guest asks, what if they get too drunk and drown in the hot tub? Who asks that kind of question? Katie says she’ll put life jackets on them. They ask to see the galley, and Mathew says he’ll be serving a family style lunch, since they have so many likes and dislikes. As Delaney puts on her mic, she says she’s not used to so many items being attached to her. Primary Danielle lists all the types of liquor she likes, which is all liquor. The lines are removed, and the boat heads out. Lexi says one of the guests sounds like a drunkard. One, I wonder who uses the word drunkard anymore, and two, how this woman girl can speak to that after her drunken tirade, I have no clue. Although I will admit, the guests don’t waste any time in acting stupid. David, Lloyd, and Mzi talk girls in the crew mess, and guest Bailey twerks. Not very well. Danielle puts her leg up on the railing of the boat, and Courtney jets over, telling her not to do that. In her interview, she says she likes a good time, but nobody can die today.
Lexi tends bar, while Delaney works in the laundry. Katie tells her that she knows they’re in an annoying situation. If Delaney feels it’s not for her, be honest; she won’t take it personally. Delaney says she’s super happy to do whatever, and Katie says, happiness is what they’re about. Anchor is down, and Malia fist bumps Mzi. Katie goes over the schedule with Courtney and Lexi, who says, cool, which always means, not cool. Sure enough, in Lexi’s interview, she says she has back to back breakfast shifts, and thinks it’s bullsh*t. Delaney wonders how to fold a fitted sheet, which only Martha Stewart knows the mystery of. In Mathew’s interview, he says their preferences are insane. With serving family style, you can deconstruct anything, and serve any combination. Apparently, they didn’t call each other, and ask what they all enjoyed. It’s the weirdest group. As usual, the food looks amazing, and there isn’t one thing I wouldn’t eat.
Katie tells Delaney to help Courtney with cleaning the pantry. In Mzi’s interview, he says, attractive women make the work situation better, but you have to be focused, because things can go wrong so easy. The guests ride the jet skis, and when one of them tries to stand on the seat, they fall off. Yes, I laugh. Mathew studies the preference sheets, and wonders, what’s wrong with these people? As he’s mincing scallions, the fish catches fire. He grabs the pan, tossing it in the sink, and he, too, catches fire for a literal hot second. He’s burned his fingers, and there are a lot of bleeps. He puts ice on it, and in his interview, he says, with all the preferences on this charter, it’s hard enough with two hands. Now all he has is one. He radios the captain, telling her that he’s been burned pretty bad. She goes to the galley, takes one look, and says, holy sh*t. They need to get that taken care of. Malia looks sick, and says she thought Mathew had iodine on his fingers, but it was his burned skin. Captain Sandy says she’ll see if she can get the doctor to come to the boat. Mathew swears it’s not like his knee; he’s not trying to leave. In the captain’s interview, she says she’s concerned that she’s going to lose her chef. She calls the doctor, who says she’ll be there as soon as possible.
Mathew says he can’t believe he effed up, and Captain Sandy tells him that the doctor is on her way. The guests are in the hot tub, and drunk already. They need service, and Lexi introduces Delaney to the them, calling her Deloni. I wonder if it’s on purpose, or if she just doesn’t bother paying attention to anyone’s name since they’re beneath her. The guests ask for tequila shots, and Delaney serves them, saying she brought the fun. Dr. Tea arrives, and Mathew shows her his hand, explaining that he grabbed a pan that was on fire. Dinner is in an hour and a half. The doctor says, it’s a second degree burn, and he’ll be okay. In his interview, he says he can’t let this be the end of his season. He’s come too far. He needs to talk himself off the ledge. Katie radios Delaney, telling her to have dinner. Dr. Tea says, hopefully, she won’t see them soon, and gets in the boat to go back.
Malia explains about Mathew to the deckhands, and says, he might need help in the galley. Lexi sets the table for dinner, and Katie pours wine. When she’s gone, one of the guests pours more into her glass. Katie thinks Delaney is doing all right, considering she’d never been a stew. Lloyd helps in the galley, and Mathew is in pain. In Mathew’s interview, he says he worked in a restaurant where a woman got hot oil poured on her arm by accident. She wrapped it up, and went back to work. If she could do that, he’ll be fine. One of the guests says the table is classic, simple, and elegant, like her. Danielle hunts for her room, and says she’s getting ready for her big debut. Katie serves dinner, while Lexi shows Delaney what to do with the cabins. Katie tells Mathew that everyone is loving it. In his interview, Mathew says, thank God he got a store bought cake. He needs a break. Katie puts on candles that spell out Happy Birthday, and lights them. She presents the cake, and they sing Happy Birthday. Mathew soaks his hand in ice.
Captain Sandy calls Katie to the bridge, and the guests go inside. The captain explains that management called, and they can’t allow cabin sharing between males and females there; the liability is too high, and the risk is too much. In Captain Sandy’s interview, she says they have to weigh in with the management company on everything. Because of where they are, they can’t share cabins, and Katie will have to deal with it. She tells Katie that she’ll have to move everyone. Delaney can’t sleep in Mathew’s cabin tonight. Oh come on. It’s a big boat. Someone can’t share with the engineer or something? Captain Sandy couldn’t sleep on the bridge for a night or two? The captain says Mathew could share with chief engineer Marten, and they’ll figure out the rest in the morning. In Katie’s interview, she says, every crew member will have to shuffle their cabin, but they’ll make it work. She tells Mathew that she’s sick of thinking about it. They’re on charter, and she has no time for sh*t like that. Right now, it’s more of a hassle than a benefit. Captain Sandy tells Mathew that he’ll be sharing with Marten for now. Courtney asks how Mathew’s pain is on a scale of one to ten, and he says, eleven. Lloyd says, it’s all a sh*t show. Katie tells Delaney about the cabin situation, and Mathew tells Marten, sorry to invade his personal space. Marten is cool about it though. Malia asks how Delaney’s first day was, and Delaney says, it’s not what she expected. In Malia’s interview, she says, if you don’t understand the stew side of deck/stew, don’t put it on your resumé.
Danielle joins the other guests in the lounge, and throws a bag down, asking, who wants some? She takes out a blow-up costume, almost like those sumo wrestlers, but it’s a woman in a bikini. David is sacrificed brought in, and one of the guests says, this poor man. Danielle dances around him, doing as much of a lap dance as you can do in a get-up like that. In David’s interview, he says, is he afraid of Danielle? Yes. Any sane person should be scared. Danielle twerks, sort of, and Courtney asks Katie if she looks like that. In Courtney’s interview, she says Danielle looks like a weird armadillo. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Malia asks how Mathew is, and he says he’s in a mess. In his interview, he says he’s just trying to finish the day, and go to bed. He thanks Malia for her help.
The guests go to bed, and Katie tells Delaney to come straight to her with anything. Mzi and David talk on the bridge, and it starts to rain. Lexi says it’s some nasty weather, and sets the table. In Lexi’s interview, she says she personally doesn’t have an issue with changing cabins. She doesn’t want to room with the chief stew. The captain asks to meet with Katie on the bridge, and Katie tells Captain Sandy that she doesn’t think Delaney is happy. Captain Sandy says Katie wanted someone, but Katie says she’s concerned about the cabin switching. People are unhappy and voicing it to her. The captain tells Katie to have a conversation with Delaney, and decide whether she stays or goes. If she stays, Katie will have to make cabin arrangements. They have two more charters after this one. It’s up to Katie and Delaney.
In the morning, Mathew makes bacon. Lexi shows Delaney how to make beds. Maureen the unicorn floatie isn’t looking good, and Malia tells David that she doesn’t know if she can save her. In Malia’s interview, she says, Maureen is struggling. She’s had a rough go of it, and Malia thinks it’s time to say goodbye. She tries to patch Maureen, and in David’s interview, she says, everything comes to a natural end. They’ve been through so much. Every minute that passes now is just painful. He’ll genuinely miss her. We flash back to moments with Maureen. Lexi instructs Delaney on how breakfast is served, and it continues to rain. David tries to help in the galley. Mathew says he’s not pumped up about the situation. They got less tip, and he lost his cabin. Delaney and Lexi do laundry, which just seems like an endless task. In the pantry, Katie tells Courtney, it’s too much; too much drama. It’s not worth it, and she feels terrible. The guests proclaim breakfast yummy. Katie says she feels so sick, and then, she literally is. In her interview, she says she just wants to be done with the situation. It’s not worth it. She asks Delaney to come with her to the bridge. I’m wondering why they don’t put Delaney in the galley, since Mathew could really use help. Katie tells Delaney, she’s been great, but she was under the impression that Delaney was a deck/stew, but she hasn’t really been a stew. She’s not having a go at Delaney for it, but does she take that risk when Delaney isn’t doing what she actually wants to? Now they have new rules and regulations, and it seems like it’s more of a problem than it’s worth. Not her as a person, but it’s caused a commotion. They have to move everyone around. Delaney thinks it’s unfair to judge her on how she might be in the future. She should be given a chance, since she’s been doing a good job so far.
Delaney says she’s done a great job. The laundry is her kingdom, and she’s been a benefit to Katie. Since she’s been there, stuff is getting done, and she thinks she should be given more of a chance. Katie says it’s going to be awkward, but Delaney says she has a positive attitude. In Delaney’s interview, she wonders how she’s not meeting expectations. When she got an unsatisfactory grade in school, she’d go to her teacher, and convince them to change it. She asks Katie, why get rid of her if she’s being helpful? and Katie suggests Delaney stay to the end of the charter, and they’ll talk then. Delaney thinks that’s fair, and Katie tells her to take two hours. In Katie’s interview, she says she tried. This is just causing more stress, but they’ll see where they’re at when the charter is over.
Malia says, it’s gnarly out, and it’s supposed to be like this all day. It’s pouring rain, and Malia says the anchor is dragging. David says, it looks nasty, and Malia says, it’s coming straight for them. They start to bring up the anchor, and Captain Sandy says, when they see it, let it go again. Malia says she sees lightning, and Lexi radios the deck crew. Malia says she’s getting nervous, and Mathew looks out the window, saying, it’s crazy out there. One of the guests says they’re scared, and want out of this place. Lexi tries the radio again, but the captain tells her that they’re anchoring. Lexi says, it’s right on top of them, and Malia says, holy sh*t. Red on deck. The captain promises it will pass.
There was no preview. I’m not sure if it’s on next week, since it’s Labor Day.

Another day, another Deck, with the possibility of Wives tomorrow. FYI, there is also a Vanderpump Rules watch party with the two Toms on Bravo at 10 pm. The only thing better than watching TV, is watching other people watch TV. But whether you watch or watch those watching, stay safe, stay upstanding, and stay giving better wedding presents than sending your nephew out of the country indefinitely. Cash is always good.
