General Hospital

Sonny says that Brick is looking for Faison. Jason thinks the key is in the manuscript. Perhaps PK Sinclair is trying to draw him out. This confuses me, since PK Sinclair is Faison’s pen name. Now it’s a separate person? Spinelli appears, and says as fortune would have it, he reconstructed the book.

Lulu brings a jelly donut to Dante, telling him that she had to elbow a dockworker to get the last one. He wonders what she wants, and she asks if she can’t come by with a token of her affection. BTW, has he closed any cases or nabbed any bad guys lately? He asks if she means Faison in particular. (Funny aside. This spellcheck only recognizes donuts, not donut singular. Who runs spellcheck? Krispy Kreme?)

At Charlie’s Pub, Obrecht tells Nina it’s 9:43 and she told everyone 9:45. They’re late. Nina says she shouldn’t have scheduled it on the day everyone is nursing a hangover. Obrecht says this is just the stylish setting for Maxie’s baby shower. Nina thinks it will be a huge success if Obrecht puts the same amount of energy into it as she has in hiding things from Nathan.

Nathan tells Maxie that he’s trying to be sensitive to his mom’s feelings, and says they should limit the amount of talk and questions about Victor to their immediate circle. Maxie says she’s good with that, but can’t vouch for everyone else. Nathan asks, like who? Amy comes out of the elevator.

Lulu asks if Dante thinks she’s that shallow. She just got done with paperwork requesting information on any cases, and brought him the donut to be nice. Although if he’d like to speed up her research, she wouldn’t object. Jordan and Valentin walk through to the interrogation room. Dante says maybe Lulu’s next big story is right there. Lulu thinks maybe it’s her next big chance at sole custody.

Finn tells Anna that he killed Cassandra. Anna says he’s just going through withdrawal, but he asks her to listen to him.

Dante says Valentin isn’t wearing cuffs, but Lulu says neither one of them looked happy. Dante is worried about Lulu wanting a story on Faison. She says she’s going through the proper channels, but he’s concerned if Faison finds out, and gets to her first. He wishes her next big story didn’t have to involve a guy who’s on the WSB’s most wanted list. Jordan comes out, and asks if she has to relieve Lulu of her press pass, but Lulu swears she’s not there on press business. Jordan asks Dante to come in.

Nina tells Obrecht that she’s not talking about the current lie, but the one where she claimed to be Nathan’s aunt, not his mother. Obrecht asks why she’s complaining, when she ended up with an adorable brother. Nina wonders why do it in the first place, but it’s clearly a sore subject for everyone, and she decides to leave it alone. Felicia arrives, and Obrecht says she’s her favorite oma-to-be. Nina asks herself what Obrecht is hiding.

Maxie gives Nathan a kiss goodbye. Amy says she seems happy, and Nathan says she’ll be happier when the DNA test is back. Amy acts ignorant, but he says Maxie told him, so she can drop the act. He asks if the results are in.

Valentin isn’t certain it’s appropriate that Dante is present, but Dante says it’s not the first time, and won’t be the last. He asks what Valentin can tell them about Cassandra. Valentin says she’s Anna’s project, so the questions should be directed at her. Dante says he and Cassandra were partners in crime way back when. Valentin guesses that’s why Anna found him useful.

Finn explains to Anna that Cassandra drugged him. She had a needle, and he had to stop her. He lunged at her, and must have grabbed the needle and used it against her, but everything is a blur. Anna asks what the last thing is he really remembers. Finn says Cassandra threatened Anna, and said she was going to give her a fix. That’s when he grabbed the needle and drugged her. Anna asks if he remembers taking the needle, and he says that must be what happened.

Sonny thanks Spinelli for coming all this way, and Spinelli says he would cross any continent to help his friends find the truth; it’s like the old days. Sonny says it is, and Spinelli starts talking about how nostalgia is said to stunt progress with friends, but he disagrees. Sonny interrupts, and asks if he found anything. Spinelli tells them he’s on the trail of PK Sinclair, and one lead sparked two more.

PK Sinclair doesn’t exist, and there’s no evidence that they’ve been employed as Faison’s alias for decades, but it turned out that the publisher is in contact with someone writing under the name. Whoever wrote the manuscript has been corresponding with the publisher. Jason asks if he traced the emails, and Spinelli says he got a name. Oh, I get it, it’s someone pretending to be him.

Felicia thanks Obrecht for organizing the get together. Obrecht wants Maxie’s shower to be nothing less than perfect, which is why she abandoned the traditional notion of surprise, and brought Maxie in on the planning. Lulu and Maxie walk in, and Lulu asks Maxie if she’s ready to plan her own baby shower. Felicia hugs her, and tells her, run, save yourself. Obrecht tells her that she’s late, and hopes Maxie teaches her grandson better manners. Lulu is surprised Nina is there, and asks if they can talk. Nina says it’s not even lunch, and Lulu is already bothering her. Lulu says she just saw Valentin at the police station, and it looked like he was in trouble.

Amy tells Nathan that there was a rush put on the test, but there’s a huge backlog. She’ll tell him as soon as the results are in. He says he owes her, and she says she’s the one who owes him. Nathan says this makes them even. Nobody owes anyone anything, and they’re just two friends who help each other when they can. He tells her that he’s there on police business. He needs to check on one of the patients – Cassandra Pearce.

Valentin says he’s the victim. Cassandra tried to kill him; maybe they should be talking to her. Jordan says she’s in no condition to talk; she’s in ICU hanging by a thread. Dante says they found her passed out in an alley near Charles Street. She’d OD’d.

Finn tells Anna she should go. She says he just told her about saving her life; now he wants her to leave? He’s afraid he might hurt her too, but Anna says it was self-defense. He says he took an oath, and she tells him that he didn’t kill Cassandra. She’s not dead.

Anna tells Finn that Cassandra is in ICU and is critical. Finn says if she dies, that makes him a murderer. Anna says he doesn’t know that. What’s puzzling her is that in the time between when she found him and the authorities arrived, Cassandra went missing. She was found in an alley, and it’s highly unlikely she crawled there on her own. Maybe the same person put her there who pumped her full of her own drugs.

Jordan asks if Valentin ever saw Cassandra use, and he says not recently. Dante asks what about in the past, but he hasn’t seen her in years. Dante says it appears the drugs were forced on her. Valentin points out that he put himself at considerable risk to help Anna get her locked up by the WSB. Why would he kill her? Dante suggests it was to protect his family.

Obrecht asks if Charlie’s menu is good with Maxie; it’s under new management, and has gone from pedestrian to pretentious. Felicia congratulates Lulu on her scoop. Lulu says that means everything to her. All this time, Felicia should have been mayor. Felicia asks how it feels to break hard news. Lulu says it’s great, but sadly, it’s old news already, and you’re only as good as your next article. Felicia asks what she has in mind, and Lulu says it might be big. Felicia asks what the subject is, and Lulu tells her, Caesar Faison.

Spinelli tells Sonny and Jason that the publisher was unable to reveal who the author was, but he hacked into his email before they were off the phone. Sonny looks through the printouts, saying there isn’t much, he just says he has an idea for a PK Sinclair novel. Jason says it seems like the publisher was into it at first, then the emails dry up, and the publisher’s emails go unanswered. Spinelli says the clue is in the timing of the last one. They promised the delivery of the manuscript on the day before Jason broke out of the clinic.

Lulu tells Felicia it was confirmed that Faison was in the Port Charles area recently. He was traveling with Britt, but she stayed behind. Felicia wonders why he was there, but Lulu doesn’t know. She’s thinking of asking for an interview if she tracks him down. Felicia thinks no good can come from crossing paths with him. She says the real question is, what does Lulu stand to lose if she puts herself in Faison’s crosshairs?

Maxie tells Obrecht she should just enjoy herself, and not try so hard. Obrecht says for the longest time, she didn’t allow herself to dream of this day. At one point, she didn’t allow herself to think of Nathan as her son. Maxie asks why, and she says it would have placed him in danger of his father. Maxie says Victor can’t hurt anyone anymore… right?

Spinelli doesn’t think the date is a coincidence. Sonny wonders if Jason’s escape threw the plans out of whack. Spinelli is working on tracking the IP address, but in the meantime, he has the manuscript intact. Sonny asks how he got it.

Nina blows into the station, and wants to see Valentin. Nathan tells her that he’s being interrogated, and she says not anymore, and Dante has a conflict of interest. Valentin tells them to let him talk to Nina. Jordan says her brother has her under control, and asks where Valentin was last night. He says with Anna, and Dante says what about after they escaped? He tells them that he contacted the sitter to make sure Charlotte was okay, then went to the MetroCourt to find Nina. Dante asks why he didn’t call the police, and he says he was working with a capable WSB agent. He figured she had a handle on things, although she did seem distracted. My take is that since Anna left first, and got to the house pretty quickly, there’s no way Valentin is involved. I think Nina might be though.

Anna tells Finn that he spent most of the night in a stupor or unconscious. He wouldn’t have noticed a John Philip Sousa marching band coming through. He thinks they might have walked over his head. She tells him the potency of the drugs Cassandra ingested have probably done serious brain damage. Finn says what if Cassandra had used them on her? Anna asks how he’s feeling, and Finn says not half as good as he looks. Amy asks for moment with the patient. Anna says she’ll be back, and Finn says he’s given up telling her what to do. He says he’ll see her tonight. She says, maybe sooner. She has something to take care of.

Cassandra lies in a hospital bed on a ventilator. Someone looms over her bed.

It’s Anna. I got all excited for nothing, even though Faison isn’t involved in this storyline.

Nathan asks Nina if she remembers the woman whose hair she tried to pull out by the roots. Nina says her name is Cassandra, and it was a personal matter. Nathan says she was found in an alley, and someone pumped her full of drugs. Nina tells him that she’s a drug dealer, trying to get people hooked on things they’ll never be able to kick. Nathan says it’s his job to know that; how does she?

Jordan asks if anyone can verify where Valentin was after the MetroCourt. He says his wife can, and gets up. Jordan says it’s not over, but he says it is for him. If they have more questions, they can contact his attorney. Nina tells Nathan that Valentin was working with Anna to bring Cassandra to justice. Nathan asks if he shares that information with her, and Valentin joins them, saying he doesn’t keep secrets from his wife. He promises Nina a happier reunion tonight, but has to take care of something, and jets.

Jordan tells Dante this is more complicated than they thought.

Amy asks Finn if he needs anything, but he says there’s only one way through it; same way as before. He tells her to take the twelve-step chip out of his wallet. She asks if he wants to hold it to keep focused, but he says he wants to throw it away. It’s useless now that he has to start over. She says she’ll hold onto it. She doesn’t think this counts as a slip; a maniac poisoning him when he’s trying to save the woman he loves.

Anna locks the door. She tells Cassandra that her guard is on break, and the staff is busy. No one is watching, and it’s just the two of them. She’s had a lot of time to think about how many deaths could be traced to Cassandra’s drugs, how much damage was done to families, and how many more lives would be ruined if she was given the chance. Anna puts on a pair of surgical gloves, and says she doesn’t think it’s worth risking it. It’s better off if Cassandra never wakes up. Her finger moves toward the cancel button on the machine.

Lulu tells Obrecht that she’ll defer to her and Maxie for the menu. Obrecht is surprised, and says sometimes her actions are misinterpreted, and well-meaning people stop her from doing something good. Lulu says that’s not her forte, but Obrecht says she gave the world Nathan. Lulu suggests she show her son and the world that she’s capable of decency. Obrecht asks how she should accomplish that, and Lulu asks her to help track down Faison. Obrecht says even if she knew where he was, why would she do that? Lulu says to give him the opportunity to tell his side of the story. All things considered, he might not get another one.

Felicia tells Maxie she’s being a good sport. Maxie says she has to make it work. Obrecht has her quirks, but she’s family. She thinks Obrecht is going overboard to compensate for dragging her feet about Nathan’s father’s medical records. Nathan thinks she’s hiding something, but Maxie thinks he won’t say it out loud, but is afraid he’ll pass on his father’s evil genes to the baby.

Spinelli explains how he recreated the manuscript using a computer program. Sonny asks him to talk English, and he says it’s the computer’s suggestions of how to fill in what was missing. It can’t recreate the whole thing, but predict it. Jason says that might be enough. They don’t need to know how it ends, just what it means.

Felicia asks Lulu if she landed an interview, would she share the information off the record? Lulu says she may be a reporter, but she’s also a Spencer. She’ll do anything to get him to talk, and then turn him in. Felicia suggests she start with Spoon Island. Faison has a long history with it, and swindled it away from Ned when he first arrived. He could hide there forever, and they’d never know. If he’s anywhere near Port Charles, she’d start looking there.

Obrecht says something in German, and Maxie asks if she just called her a sausage? She asks Maxie if Nathan is still obsessing over his father, and Maxie says he’s just worried. Obrecht asks what reason he has for fretting; the records are accurate. Why question it when there’s nothing to be concerned about? Maxie says the test will confirm everything, and Obrecht asks, what test?

Nina tells Nathan sorry for the ruckus, and being a pita. Nathan tells her it’s okay. Nina says now that Valentin has been released, everything is fine. Nathan says, but he left her there; what gives?

Anna goes back to Finn’s room. He asks where she went, and she says to see Cassandra. She wanted to make sure she never hurts anyone again. Finn asks what she did.

Valentin sees Amy cleaning up Cassandra’s room, and asks what happened? Amy says she shouldn’t tell him, but it will be on the news soon enough. She was released into the custody of the WSB. He asks where they took her, and Amy says wherever they take comatose drug traffickers after an OD. Chances are, she’s never coming to.

Anna tells Finn that she didn’t kill Cassandra. He asks if that’s the truth, or she’s just saying that to make him feel better. Anna says she thought about it, and came thisclose to finishing her off, but didn’t. She called Robert, and he had her taken to a secure facility. He asks what about when she recovers? Anna says it’s unlikely, but if Cassandra regains consciousness, she and the bureau will make sure she never harms another soul. Finn guesses they did good. She says they did. He says he has only one regret. They didn’t get their New Year’s Eve. She takes his hand, and says they’ve always got next year.

Obrecht doesn’t understand why they need a test. Maxie says to prove to Nathan that he’s a Cassadine.

Nina is sure there’s a good explanation, and tells Nathan to let her worry about her husband – not that she’s worried – and let him worry about the DNA test. He asks if she knows something, and she says she knows Obrecht is a pathological liar. He wonders if Victor isn’t his father, who is?

Spinelli says the manuscript might tell them what they need to know. The main character is based on Faison, and a power struggle ensues between him and “Octavian.” He reads from it where the Faison character says, “It’s been you all along; you stole everything.” Octavian replies that if he’d opened his eyes sooner, he could have saved himself, calling him “father.” Spinelli says this begs the question, did Faison have a son?

Next time, Kiki tells Griff that Ava wanted Morgan for herself, Maxie questions Obrecht’s motives, and Drew overhears Carly tell Sam not to do something to him.

👻 SyFy’s Ghost Wars had its finale tonight. Although it’s more like ghost turf wars. It’s set in an isolated Alaskan town, but filmed in Vancouver, and the scenery is one of the stars IMO. The story revolves around a community in paranormal crisis, along with an outcast medium who has his own demons to fight. I have to admit, I just half-assed watched this show, but saw enough to pronounce it excellent. Meat Loaf is among the cast, playing the town handyman and bully. Hey, everyone needs a side hustle. He also gave me a terrific quote.

👹 Superstition, about the owners of a funeral home, looked good too, but I didn’t have time to stick with it. How can you miss with the setting being a funeral home? Unfortunately, both of these shows look unlikely to be renewed, so catch them On Demand while you can.

❌  The X-Files returned, but I never got into it the first time. I already knew the truth wasn’t out there. But to all you Burning Smoking Man fans – enjoy!

🚓 Anyone remember Brimstone? What about American Gothic starring Gary Cole as Sheriff Buck with a B? With all this 90s TV nostalgia, I’m getting misty for the shows that were never really given a chance.

📺 Not much else happening on the TV front tonight. The two Joshes butted heads on Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles (ho-hum), and the new LA real estate buzzword is “vertical living” in referring to apartments. It sounds so science fictionish when they put it that way.

December 28, 2017 – New Year’s Eve in PC Begins, a Little Chef, a Little Real Estate, a Little News & a Lotta Laura

General Hospital

At Aurora, Peter proposes a toast. He complements everyone, and toasts to a great new year at the company. Nina hopes the champagne didn’t come out of Crimson’s budget, but he says it was a gift from their landlord.

Carly tells Michael she can be there if he needs back up with Nelle. He tells her to enjoy the night, and happy new year. Sonny isn’t surprised, and Carly wonders if it was Nelle’s plan all along to start the new year with Michael. Sonny is like, in the hospital? And she says, could happen. Jason comes b,y and tells them that he has a plane to catch.

At the hospital, Nelle asks if her dizziness is normal, and Michael says that’s what they’re here to find out. Kim is off for the day, and Monica is her replacement.

Anna is working two laptops, and tells Finn don’t touch that or that or that; one tweak in the wrong direction, and everything is useless. She thinks he should go for a walk. I might point out it’s like, zero degrees today where they’re supposed to live. Finn calls her a glory hog, and says she’s stuck with him whether she likes it or not.

Valentin comes home to Cassandra and her companion in his living room. Or whatever they call it at Windemere. She’s bringing him good tidings. He asks if she’s leaving town, and she says she is. And he’s coming with her.

Finn asks if the bug is working, and Anna says it’s great. He’d be happier if she’d admit he’s not a bumbling amateur, and she says he has his uses. He says she can’t do it, even though she blackmailed him into this mess. Anna says he’s the one who refused to stop. She says they’re at the end, and can now pinpoint the location. Finn says, thanks to his bug, but she says technically, it’s hers. He tells her that he installed it, and she calls him impossible. He asks how long this will take, but she’s not sure yet, and it makes Finn a little nervous. Anna says she thought he said he had Cassandra eating out of his hand, and he says Cassandra needs to keep hands to herself.

Cassandra wants Valentin to put in appearance, and familiarize himself with the product. He says he has nothing to do with quality control, and she tells him to consider it a gesture of solidarity. He says it’s her brainchild, but she insists it’s time for him to get his hands dirty, and eliminate Sonny.

Jason wants to go back to Russia. He thinks somebody at the clinic might know something about Faison. Sonny says he might get killed, Jason he insists that he has to go. He steps away to take a call. Carly says he can’t get on the plane; he needs to be here with Sam. Sonny says whatever she’s planning – no. She runs off to talk to the chef, but he notes she’s going in the wrong direction.

Peter asks if their fearless leaders care to share any plans for the new year. Drew tells him they’re off the clock; take it easy. Maxie reminds Peter that tomorrow is a holiday. Carly pops in, and they thank her for the champagne. She says anything for her favorite tenants, and invites them to the party downstairs. Drew and Sam have other plans, and Lulu tells everyone that they rented out the Haunted Star to watch the fireworks, because it’s totally her business. Well, the Haunted Star is her business, but not shouting out Drew and Sam’s plans. Drew says, first, he’s dropping by the hospital to wish Monica a happy new year. Carly tells Sam it looks like Aurora has stabilized, and Sam says she’s looking forward to a profitable year. Carly is glad it worked out. She sees Sam’s ring, and asks if it’s new. Sam says Drew gave it to her after they agreed to remarry. She thought it was great for a fresh start. Carly says everyone could use one, and congratulates her.

Finn tells Anna that Cassandra toweled him off like he was a grease fire. Anna says maybe it was more innocent than that, and he says, employee harassment. She says, the nerve, especially since he’s completely unavailable. Finn says he is as far as Cassandra is concerned, and Anna wonders if he gave the wrong impression, and led her on. Finn says he would never cheat in a fake relationship – or a real one – but he guesses they’ll never know.

Valentin asks if Cassandra wants him to assassinate Sonny, and she wants it dealt with before they leave. It’s time to refocus, and he was right. Sonny is a paragon of virtue when comes to drugs. Valentin says he doesn’t tolerate traffic in his town, and Cassandra asks what he thinks will happen when his town is the hub of opiate traffic. It’s self-preservation. He has to kill Sonny, before Sonny kills him.

Jason tells Sonny his flight was delayed, but he has to find Faison now. Sonny thinks it’s more like he wants to get away from Sam, but Jason thinks it’s a good idea to keep his distance; Drew isn’t handling it well, and it’s killing Sam. Sonny says at some point they have to stop this, and make it okay. They need to figure it out for themselves. Him leaving isn’t going to change Sam’s feelings, and either Drew moves forward, or it will consume him; it’s not on Jason. Jason says Sam made her choice, and he needs to honor it.

Maxie tells Sam that they’re going to feel like the only ones in the world on the boat. Sam says that’s the idea. Maxie asks if that’s what she’s wearing, and when Sam says it is, she asks how many times she has to ride to her rescue in dressing appropriately. Friends don’t let friends do drab. She asks Nina for permission to raid the Crimson closet.

Michael waits for Nelle, and Drew walks in. He tells Michael that he came to see Monica. Michael says it’s good to see they still have a relationship. Drew says he’s a lucky guy, and asks why Michael is there. Michael says he’s there for Nelle.

Nelle thanks Monica for seeing her. Monica says even if she wasn’t on duty, she would have made herself available. Nelle says the Quartermaines stick together, and Monica says, you’d better believe it. Nelle asks if that’s a threat, and Monica says, no. It’s a promise to her unborn baby. Monica asks about the dizzy spells, and Nelle says they’re usually the same; she gets lightheaded and has to lie down. Monica tells her that everything looks good, but wants to do a full workup to be sure. Nelle asks if she wants to make sure she’s not lying; it’s clearly what she’s thinking. Monica tells her not to get upset; it’s not good for the baby. Nelle says it’s frustrating to consistently judged, but Monica wouldn’t know what it’s like. Monica says she does.

Sonny tells Jason if he thinks it’s the right move, he’ll back him, but doesn’t want him to take off and disappear. Jason says he’s not giving up his life there. His kids know he exists, and he can’t cut out on them; he would never do that. Sonny asks if he’s spending time with them. Jason says he saw Jake on Christmas, but Jake wanted nothing to do with him. He says Jake has been thrown so many curveballs, and now he shows up out of nowhere. Sonny says it’s not his fault. Jake needs time to process. Jason thinks maybe it’s good for him to go away, and give Jake time. He got lucky with Danny. Sonny says eventually, Jake won’t be able to deny it any more than Sam will.

At the Haunted Star, Maxie gets impatient. Sam comes out in a bodycon red number, with a keyhole neckline. Maxie says, me likey. Me too, but come on. Sam is gorgeous, and does her makeup impeccably every day, yet doesn’t know how to dress?

Lulu asks if Peter is going to the party, but he has a few things to finish up. She thanks him for giving her an opportunity. He says she’s the one brought the story, and thanks her. She wants to follow up with something just as big, or bigger, and wonders if he has any ideas. He says one comes to mind. The question is, does she have the guts to tackle it?

Anna balks at the two of them in a real relationship. She says Finn would drive her crazy. He says ditto, with her tea and crumpets, and accent. She says he loves her accent, and he admits that he does.

Cassandra’s phone rings, but she ignores it, and asks Valentin why he’s so squeamish? Just take Sonny out.

Anna gets a signal from Cassandra’s phone. She thinks it’s the factory, and calls Robert. She asks if he’s getting it.

Cassandra answers the call, and tells Valentin that the lab agrees Finn’s formula will work. She says they’re to leave immediately, and get packing. Valentin says his daughter is sleeping, and his wife is expecting him. Cassandra threatens to call Nina herself. Valentin throws her phone across the room, saying there’s only so far she can push him. Great. Now what? Eric! Her companion’s name is Eric! Cassandra has Eric fetch the phone, and says she’s capable of compromise. They can leave in the morning. It’s what’s best for everyone; trust her. And you know when someone says that, it’s the last thing you should do.

Anna looks at a map along with Robert. She tells him she’s looking for a water source; it would be needed to produce drugs. They find one, and she tells him to look for a road. Finn watches as she works. They find an airstrip, and Anna says to send in the strike team. They’ve got her.

Nelle is surprised to find out that Monica didn’t know who AJ’s father was. Monica says they didn’t have DNA tests then. Nelle says she hasn’t been with anyone else, and it’s obviously Michael’s baby. Monica says she’s not implying her story is the same, but maybe Nelle can learn from her experience. Nelle asks how she handled it, and Monica says it wasn’t easy, but she learned to focus on what was important – her child. Nelle needs to focus on that. Being born a Quartermaine comes with host of things. Nelle says for the baby, but not for her. Monica tells her that she’s not the first woman to have a Quartermaine baby, and she won’t be the last, but if it makes her part of the family remains to be seen.

Drew asks Michael if he’s sure the baby is his. Michael says they’ll know once they have a test, but the timing is right. Drew congratulates him, and says it turns out he has child from a former life. They agree at least their lives are interesting.

Peter suggests Lulu write an article about Jason and Drew. He can’t think of a more interesting story. Lulu says everyone else is covering it. He adds, except them. He figured it was on purpose because of Sam and Drew. Lulu says the story might never see the light of day, but Peter thinks maybe with a friendlier approach, and they can control it themselves. He suggests instead of focusing on the victims, focus on the perpetrator – Caesar Faison. YES!!!

Jason tells Sonny that Sam deserves a safe life for her and the kids, and Drew can give it to her. Sonny says she also deserves to be happy. Jason says if that’s what she wanted, he’d thank God, but she picked Drew. Sonny says that Jason is the person she’s meant to be with.

Maxie tells Sam that Drew will combust when he sees her. Sam isn’t totally in, and tries on the next dress. It’s black, very low cut, and sleeveless with sparkly shoulders. Maxie says that’s good too. Both are good choices, so she should just go for fit, style, and comfort. Strike comfort; it has no place in fashion. She tells Sam that they both match the coat she’ll need if they’re going to be outside. Sam says she has a coat, but Maxie scoops up her motorcycle jacket, saying it’s not appropriate. She says her work here is done, and leaves.

Monica sees Drew, and they wish each other a happy new year. She wants to steal Michael for a minute, and says she’ll be back. She tells him that Nelle and the baby are fine. He asks if she has any idea what’s causing the dizzy spells, and she tells him, low blood pressure. She’s been pushing herself too hard, and needs to take better care of her health, but the baby fine. Michael thanks her. She says they’re family, and that overrides everything. Focus on the now.

Jason tells Carly that his flight was delayed. He asks where she went, and she tells him, Aurora. She was hoping Drew would admit they own the company because of him. Jason says it doesn’t matter, and he doesn’t want her handling his battles for him. She tells him that he and Sam belong together, and she needs to realize that. He tells her, Sonny just said that. She suddenly gets a text from Sonny, and tells Jason that Sonny wants to meet him at the Haunted Star; he might have information on Faison. What? How dare they be so far up in Jason’s business?

Lulu tells Peter that people have a morbid curiosity about Faison, and would probably eat up a profile on him. He tells her to think bigger – a profile and interview. She wonders if she’s supposed to track him down, and pray he doesn’t kill her. I dunno. He’s kind of an egoiste. He might actually go for it, especially if he thinks Anna would read it. She asks how she’s supposed to find him when the WSB couldn’t? Peter says she has a gift. She has two things, aside from raw talent. One is her husband. She says Dante isn’t going to tell her anything, but Peter says he’s sure she has ways of convincing him. She also has her father. The feud between Luke and Faison is legendary. He tells her to sleep on it. If something comes from it, career made.

Nathan is still waiting for Maxie at the party. Dante tells him they’re wasting valuable time. When the baby comes, they won’t have any time, and the time they have will be spent talking about kids. Nathan says he’ll trade that for the baby being okay. He still isn’t sure who his father is. Nina says, that’s why Maxie pulled a hair out of Valentin’s head.

Cassandra tells Valentin they’re expected on the tarmac at nine am. He says he’ll see her in 2018. Outside, she tells Eric what way to start the new year. She’s going to need a phone replacement before the morning. Eric hands her the card, saying it fell out. Oh, Valentin, what have you done?

Anna tells Finn the factory was just hit. They were taken by surprise, and there was minimal resistance. A mass quantity of drugs was found; it was a large-scale production. They’ve officially secured the factory, and taken it over. Finn asks what that means. Did they win? She says the battle, not the war. He says, but it’s over and no one got hurt. He grabs her and spins her around. Yep. I like these two together. Finn says Anna could benefit from loosening up once in a while, and she’s like, says man who organizes his flatware. She says they still have one more thing to take care of. He asks if it’s Cassandra, and she says, make that two.

Nina is wondering where Valentin is. Nathan suggests maybe he stopped for a crime spree or a kidnapping.

Anna calls Valentin, telling him that her investment paid off. He’s concerned about retaliation, but she says they have a team out after her. Valentin tells her where Cassandra is headed, and she thanks him. He tells her to thank him after she’s in custody. Anna tells Finn that it’s finished. He guesses so is their partnership.

Cassandra walks back into Valentin’s house, along with Eric, who has a gun pointed at him. He’s wondering what the what, and she tells him not to play innocent; it doesn’t suit him. She doesn’t want him killed there, and tells him to come quietly, for his family’s sake.

Nina texts Valentin, but there’s still no answer. Lulu and Peter arrive at the party. Lulu tells Dante she’s his for the rest of the night. Maxie joins them, saying she was late for a worthy cause.

Michael tells Nelle that Monica said to take it easy. She says she’ll try. She found a job, and starts the day after New Year’s. He asks if the hours are flexible, and she says she needs the money. He says they can revisit the financial support issue. She’s not supposed to have any extra stress. She blows him off, saying she has the feeling this job will solve all of her problems.

Sonny tells Carly the party is off to a good start. She tells him it was rude to leave his date, and he points out that she actually left first. He asks what she’s up to, and she says he’s off the clock. Sonny asks where Jason is, and Carly says somewhere he needs to be. Oh, I see. She just said the message was from Sonny. I didn’t think Sonny would get that involved.

Jason runs onto the boat. He sees Sam in the black dress. They soap opera gaze at each other.

Tomorrow, Finn would like to stay, Sonny tells Carly that her plan isn’t going to work, and Cassandra has the crap beat out of Valentin.

💣 I have to mention that I’m really enjoying Jessica Tuck playing he hell out of Cassandra. As over-the-top as the character is, she makes it believable with a very understated, controlled performance. I’ll bet she’s having a good time too. Cassandra is a world away from One Life to Live’s Megan. I don’t suppose it will happen, but it would be fun if she were in a scene with Dr. Bensch (James DePaiva, Max, OLTL).

🍲 Television is still in holiday limbo, but I’m catching up with Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles and Top Chef, both having new episodes this week. Tonight, the chefs cooked meals that were “pieces of themselves.” Most picked something reminiscent of their childhood, bringing to mind my father’s neckbone soup. While we probably ate things no kid would touch today – he often cooked “Depression food,” since that’s when he grew up – it was one of my favorites. I joke a lot about my avoidance of cooking, but can get ambitious occasionally, and did make it myself once when I lived alone. IMO, it was good, but not the same. Probably because the love was missing.

🌉 I knew long ago I could never be a chef, top or otherwise, but the jury is in on my being a broker too. My career would be over the first time I smacked a condescending client with a superiority complex, and way too much money, in the face. Tonight, one of Madison’s clients wanted to be on a certain road at a certain price for two months. It was the peak season, and she waited until the last minute. Like what I do when I’m getting my hair cut before the holidays begin. He did find her something slightly (slightly in terms of the wealthy, so I mean $100K) more than she wanted, but she compromised. I’d like to think her demanding attitude was to play for the camera, but holy! She was a witch of the highest order, and not very couth. Bringing up the price in front of the client is never good form. My interest was also piqued when James and David checked out what they deemed to be the future of real estate in LA, namely, luxury apartments. At first, when they used the term “vertical living,” I thought it must be some futuristic Japanese design. I was pretty surprised when everything looked like what it’s looked like in NYC for as long as I can remember, but it was cheaper.

December 16, 2017 – Z Nation Trifecta with Photos & a Quote Quartet

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

 

Technically, what I watched Friday night.

Z Nation

A quick recap of last week. Operation Bitemark went back to Mercy Labs, where they found the blob that was once Dr. Teller’s wife, and his intact son, encased in some kind of liquid in a tank. Sadly, they needed the juice powering the tank to power the radio, so Andrew was taken off life support, or suspended animation, or whatever he was. Lily wanted to save him, but Roberta said he’d be like a bug trapped in amber that won’t die, since no one was coming to get him. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of one. I thought it was “the few,” but okay. Roberta collected another cylinder, and there was also a lot of flashing back to the mercy-proof zombies and Red.

Kaya told Citizen Z that the man with a plan cracked his way into NORAD, and downloaded files from something called Black Rainbow. Scampy was still frolicking around, albeit minus an arm, and caught Citizen Z unawares. Citizen Z pulled out Scampy’s heart, but of course this did nothing. Kaya came to his rescue, zipping Scampy into a body bag. Kaya found out a lot of money had been pumped into the Black Rainbow project, and something called the fourth strike weapon. She and Citizen Z kept trying to get Operation Bitemark on the radio, saying they had vital information regarding Black Rainbow. They finally connected, and told Roberta that intruders copied the files and spoofed their way into NORAD. Kaya told her the reset will kill everything in order to start the world over; the launch codes needed to be changed. Roberta said her dream was about stopping the launch, and Kaya said they had to be changed manually at the launch pad, but they’ll need the thumbprint of the President to change them. Roberta said they were headed to Washington DC

The Season Finale

Operation Bitemark travels down the road. Roberta says this is it. The last place evacuated. Doc says there’s a nuclear war, and the government got relocated while the rest of them were blown to smithereens. Roberta tells them to keep their eyes open. They walk into the Mount Weather Emergency Operation. They see massive doors built into the side of a mountain, and a line of abandoned cars. Roberta says she guesses the President didn’t make it inside.

They look into the cars, but nothing, until they get to the last one. Secret Service zombies pop out. Murphy looks in the back, and Roberta asks if it’s the President. He says sort of; all the good parts are gone. He checks, saying no thumb on one hand, and no hand on the other hand. Murphy finds an ID indicating it’s the President’s husband. Roberta says they need to go inside; the President could still be in there. Roberta tries the ID, but the lock uses a retina scanner. She asks Doc if he’s thinking what she is, and that’s a yep. Murphy goes, eww! Doc scoops out the guy’s eyeball. It doesn’t work on the first try, but he removes a contact or cataract or something, and it opens the doors.

Roberta tells them to keep their eyes peeled for signs of life. Murphy adds, and dead. Doc asks why it always has to be underground. Why not a showdown in a penthouse, or at least something with a window? They go through the building. Roberta wants to find the Oval Office. They check the Congressional Chambers, where there are some political zombies toddling around.

Doc and Murphy dispatch them, and high-five each other for keeping democracy alive. Lily and 10K clear the stairs. Roberta smashes a zombie in the head in with her Route 66 shield. Two very much alive Secret Service agents stop them in the hallway.

Roberta introduces herself, saying she needs to see the President; it’s about saving humanity. The agents – both of whom are named Johnson, but are not related – tell them they’re about eight minutes too late to save humanity. Roberta explains that there’s going to be a biological attack to cleanse the world and repopulate it with genetically modified offspring. They’re not sure what the problem is, and Roberta asks if the President knows her husband is dead.

A woman comes out and tells Johnson to put his weapon down. They ask which one, and she says both of them. She introduces herself as Jane Carlson, President of the United States. Roberta asks how many survivors there are, and she says they’re looking at them. Most of them evacuated, and they were supposed to follow, but ran into obstacles. Murphy says he just killed some obstacles. Roberta explains they’re on a mission to find a secret weapon, and need her thumbprint. She knows it sounds crazy. Jane hopes they didn’t go to much trouble. She has no thumbs. Murphy says, eww! She didn’t know thumbs would be in such demand, and suggests they go to the Oval Office.

Jane offers them bottled water, and jelly beans from the 80s. She tells them about a visitor who said he could either kill her, or she could take a sedative, but either way, he would take her thumbs. She tried to tell him it wasn’t what he needed, but she had no choice. When she woke up, he was gone, and so were her thumbs, but she never knew why. Roberta tells her that they’re needed to access a doomsday weapon. Jane explains that she’s about the fiftieth down the line for President, so they would do no one any good. It needs to be the person who was President during the outbreak. President Bill Carney, who turned Z, but last she knew, still had his thumbs. He’s about twenty-five levels below them. The lower level is rife with zombies, and was sealed off ages ago. Roberta says the only way to access Black Rainbow is to have the President’s thumbprints. Jane asks if Dr. Teller sent her, Roberta says he did, and Jane says there’s something she’s supposed to show her. One of the Johnsons puts on a VCR, which Murphy calls Jurassic tech. Jane says that’s what happens when you’re on a budget. She takes out a tape.

They eat jelly beans as they watch. We go through all the “unauthorized use of” warnings, and finally get to Black Rainbow –  when three strikes aren’t enough. We’re told if this is being watched, World War III is over, and we lost. The corn belt is a wasteland of radioactivity, and anyone who survived day one has been wiped out by fallout contamination. No doubt, some enemies have escaped, repopulated, and colonized what was once the USA. The narrator says, no, sir, not on our watch. Now is the time for Black Rainbow – the fourth strike in the doomsday project that will protect US interests, even after the US is gone. The narrator goes on to talk about drones that will spread a contaminant that kills anything it touches – the ultimate autonomous doomsday weapon, when three strikes aren’t enough. Roberta decides they’d better find the President after all.

The group gets in the last working elevator. Jane explains that access was cut off after day one, and no one has been down there since. There’s an entire alphabet of elevator buttons, and they go to level Z. Roberta asks who’s down there, and Jane says pretty much everyone was trapped, including most of Congress and the cast of Hamilton. They’re all zombies now. The elevator stops.

The door opens behind them, instead of the way they’re facing. They bust through the crowd of zombies, which, sure enough, contains some Hamilton cast members. Hamilton has officially hit the big time now. Doc says they’ll have to check every Z, and Murphy says, welcome to the nothing-is-ever-easy club. Roberta gets back in the elevator, and presses a button with an omega symbol. She gets out, and goes down a long hallway. Doc realizes she’s missing, and says they have to find her, but Jane says they can either find a dead President or help their friend.

Doc finds a jacket belonging to the President, and tosses it to Murphy. Doc says maybe Murphy’s whispering powers are back, and he can detect a scent. Murphy says he’s not a bloodhound, and it’s degrading. Doc says so is dying in an underground bunker; take a whiff. He does, but says the only thing he detects is that the President needs stronger deodorant. Jane says she has a plan.

Roberta calls out for anyone alive.

Jane suggests they open the door enough to let the zombies in one by one, and check them one at a time. She shakes her head no, as each one comes through, and they’re mercied.

Roberta continues on downstairs. She hears the music for Hail to the Chief, and follows the sound. She finds a dead man sitting in an auditorium, while the music blares from a boombox.

Doc wants Murphy to sniff one of the zombies. Murphy says he’s doing it under protest, and Doc asks how that’s different from anything else he does. Murphy tells him they all smell alike, and it’s not a good smell.

Roberta sees a teleprompter rolling a speech about everything being fine and under control.

Jane thinks one of the zombies might be the President. They wrestle with him, and Lily says he’s feisty for a dead guy. They put something in his mouth to keep him from biting, but Jane says, her bad. It’s not him. It’s the Secretary of State… or Agriculture.

Roberta goes backstage, and finds the zombie President tied to a chair. She wheels him out.

Murphy says for the record, this plan sucks unilaterally. Doc says it could be worse. Murphy asks how, and Doc says it might suck, but it’s all they’ve got. They hear a squeaking sound, and Roberta arrives with the President. Jane confirms that it’s him.

Doc says thumbs up has been given a whole new meaning. He thanks Jane, and she tells him to vote for her when things are back to normal. Roberta says if they can stop Black Rainbow, maybe there will be an election again someday. Jane says she never said anything about stopping it, and asks if that’s why Teller sent her. One of the Johnsons draws his gun, and says everyone chill and no one gets hurt. Lily draws her gun, and tells everyone to be calm. Jane tells her to lower her weapon; it’s a direct order, and she’s still her Commander-in-chief. Lily keeps her weapon readied, and Jane says she’s ordering her to help secure the prisoner. Roberta tells Lily she doesn’t have to listen to her, but Lily says she does, and moves to the other side. She says she’s sorry, but she took an oath; she’s a Marine. Jane hopes to get her vote one day. They return to the Oval Office.

Roberta tells Jane that she retrieved the toxic cylinders from Mercy Labs. Jane wonders how much she was told about the reset. They were about to join the Founder when Operation Bitemark showed up. Murphy says, good luck with that plan. Doc thought they were going to Newmerica, but Jane says it’s doomed. The only ones who will survive the reset will be those in Zona, and democracy will flourish. Doc says there won’t be anyone left to vote, but she says the right people will vote. Everyone else is collateral damage. Lily says the rest of humanity will be wiped out, and Jane tells her that she switched sides just in time. The reset starts now. Lily says, no, and shoots her. Doc and 10K kill the Johnsons. Jane calls Lily a traitor. Lily says she’s required to disobey an unjust order, and shoots her again. Doc says she just killed the President. Lily says she turned, besides, they’ll get another one.

They move out to the hallway, where Lily and 10K wait until the Johnsons appear. They blast them until there’s nothing left. Jane careens around the corner next, but they’re out of ammunition. Roberta says she’s got it, and stabs Jane in the head with a golf umbrella that just happens to be there. Roberta goes into a fugue state, and sees a fireball in the sky. She finishes Jane off until she’s another pile of mess.

Doc asks if Roberta is okay. Murphy says now that they have President Thumbelina, what are they going to do? Roberta says, take him to Washington DC. If anybody asks, they were nowhere near Mount Weather.

Part Two

Washington looks like a pile of rubble. Our heroes fight off various Congressional and House zombies on the way to the Capital building. Ooh, nice exploding head. Murphy says if they knew what they were looking for, that would be great. Roberta says she’ll know when she sees it, but they’re getting close. Roberta flashes back to killing Jane, but it’s in her dream wasteland. She circles a mound of wreckage, and tells Murphy to stand there and put his hands up. She puts a curb your dog sign in front of him, and tells him to get on the rock and put his hands together. She has Lily hold the sign, and crouches down. She goes into her dream, and sees a spire instead of Murphy.

Roberta pulls some junk off of a sewer cap. They open it, and she smiles.

They go down, bringing the President with them. Murphy wonders if they’re on a VIP tour from hell, and Doc says leading the President is like walking a Slinky. Roberta brings them through a tunnel. A blind worker zombie feels his way toward them. Roberta slams him, and Murphy marvels at a blind Z, wondering what they’ll think of next. Doc tells him they go by sound, so curb his farting. They need to go down thirty flights, and discuss how to get the President down the stairs. While they’re debating this, Murphy dropkicks him, and says he fell.

When they get downstairs, they find a couple of zombies, who are either mad or blind, snacking on the President. 10K nails them with a slingshot, and announces that’s 8,402. Murphy says the President is fine, but Doc says he looks like he fell off a cliff in a cartoon. They get him back up, and Doc tells him to look alive.

They continue on, going past signs for the first and second strikes, and destruction worldwide. Next is the third strike, and kill, kill, kill. When they come to the fourth strike, there is only a Skeletor face. Doc suggests they go to the cafeteria instead, and wants to know why they always have to go the way of the skull? Roberta tells them to hold, and they hear zombies. It’s a close, narrow hallway, and Green Beret zombies move toward them. A body drops down from the landing, and Murphy says somebody up there doesn’t like them. It’s the man with a plan. Roberta says he’s going to launch the codes, and they let him get there first. Roberta translates some Latin words written on the door – to the end of everything – even though she’s never studied Latin.

Roberta flashes back to waking up in Zona. Dr. Teller says they have a lot to talk about; a lot of questions. Roberta asks where she is, and the doctor tells her Zona, and explains that she was in a medically induced coma. He tells her about the bullet passing through Murphy, and hitting her. She’s now immune. He says Murphy is there too, giving blood to save the world. The world is in grave danger, worse than the zombie apocalypse or danger from themselves. This time, they still can save what’s left of humanity, and she’s the only one who can do it.

Back in Washington, they enter another area. Roberta sees a the launch panel. She stares at it, and starts messing with the dials and keyboard. In her Zona flashback, she’s wearing a VR headset, and Teller says that what she’s seeing is a mockup launch panel of a doomsday weapon. She asks if Black Rainbow is nukes, and he says, worse. The fourth strike repurposes weapons of mass destruction, and uses them to make the world new. By the time she gets there, she’ll know what to do. In Washington, the machine starts beeping, and Roberta continues to fiddle with it.  In Zona, she gets frustrated, as Teller watches. In real time, Lily says, locals coming this way. They need the door code.

Dr. Teller suggests Roberta relax, and let her subconscious do the work. 10K says, here comes everybody, Lily adding, everybody and their mother. Doc asks what happens when the timer gets to zero? Murphy tells Roberta that they need the door code. Roberta puts on the security camera monitors. 10K says they need the door code. In Roberta’s Zona flashback, Teller is explaining geographical areas to be treated. The timer stops. The man with a plan takes out a cylinder. Roberta remembers asking Teller what’s in them. He tells her the end of the world as they know it. A chemical agent that will spread the cure globally within a few years. Once the countdown is started, she has three minutes to change the cylinder. In the conscious world, Murphy tells Roberta they really need the door code. She finally gives it to Doc who punches it in. The door closes, but it gets stuck and doesn’t close completely. Roberta says when Teller woke her up, he told her how to stop it. She has to change the cylinders.

The President is wheeled to the panel. He starts to put his thumb on the pad, but Roberta says, not now. She tells the others she has to go alone to change the cylinders. Where she’s going, no one can follow. If they get to Newmerica, find Addie and Red, and tell them she loves them. She says goodbye to everyone, and tells Murphy if she’s ever in a coma again, don’t wake her. Lily salutes her.

Roberta follows a corridor to a hard hat area where the launch pad is, housing a huge flying saucer-like drone. The man with a plan appears, and tells her it’s too late. Her actions noble and heroic, but misguided. She tells him to misguide this, and runs toward him. He shoots at her, but the bullets bounce off her shield. Seeing this on the monitor, Murphy says they have to help. Doc says she told them to stay there. Roberta and the man (not to be confused with The Man in the previous season) fight. Murphy says Roberta kicked his ass. Doc says they still have a situation, and starts shooting through the door opening.

Roberta opens the drone. In her mind, Teller gives her the instructions. She blocks the opening from closing completely. Teller says she’s almost done. He says there’s a 78% chance of gas being released, which is why she has to do it alone. She asks, if she does this, is she not coming back? He says if she doesn’t, humanity isn’t coming back. She inserts the cylinder, and sits up. Murphy says that’s the signal; Mr. President, it’s showtime. Doc thinks he should wait until she clears out, but Murphy says Roberta is running the show and that’s the signal. A half-zombie flies into the room, and jumps onto Doc’s back. He twirls around, but it won’t let loose. Murphy says, on three, and the machine says, countdown, three minutes. Doc says that was fun.

Roberta gets out of the drone. The others see the man on the monitors, but Roberta doesn’t. Murphy says he’s going. Doc tells him, no, but he leaves anyway. The rest watch as Roberta gets down, and the man knocks her out.

Roberta sees the Black Rainbow in her mind. She gets rained on, and starts to burn and melt. Teller says, sorry about the fire and brimstone, but he needed images strong enough to burn in her memory. Some plans are best kept hidden, even from ourselves. He says someone would personally like to thank her for her sacrifice.

It’s Michael Berryman! The Founder tells her, hello, and Roberta says they’ve met before. He says many times. He wanted to personally thank her, on behalf of everyone in Zona, for her heroic efforts to make the reset a reality. She says her mission was to stop Black Rainbow. Teller says there’s been a small change in plans. The Founder says she’s the saver of Zona. There’s a flesh-eating bacterium in the drone. It will cleanse the world, and they’ll start anew. Roberta asks what makes them think she’s going along with it. The Founder says she has no choice, and puts his oxygen mask over her nose and mouth.

Roberta hears the countdown. She says, she’s the reset. Well, this is just mean.

Murphy fights with man. The man whacks him with the cylinder, and gas is released into the man’s face. Roberta gets up. Two minutes and counting. She goes back to the drone. Doc wonders what she’s doing, and Lily says she’d better do it fast. When Roberta is inside the drone, she forgets to block the door, and it closes all the way. Doc wonders where Murphy is. Crawling out toward the cylinder. Roberta starts to take the installed cylinder out, but her hand shakes (part of her dream). She hears the drone start. The back of the building opens, and it’s like the landscape in Roberta’s mind. Minus the nuclear fallout. The drone starts to rise.

Doc says it’s taking off with Roberta. Lily asks what they do, and 10K says they can’t stay there. They all run. This is the longest nine seconds ever. Roberta starts to mess with the other cylinder, and yells, nooo! The drone takes off. Doc, Lily, and 10K watch. Now what?

The drone flies with Roberta inside. Things start popping out of it, seeding the clouds. Murphy joins the others, his skin totally red. Doc says, Black Rainbow. Murphy says Roberta was right. They watch as the Black Rainbow forms in the sky. 10K says it’s beautiful. Lily asks if they’re going to die. 10K says it looks like it, and she grabs him and kisses him. Murphy asks Doc if he thinks they should make a run for it, but Doc says no. They’d just get run over by a giant wheel of zombie cheese. Murphy says maybe the reset isn’t such a bad idea after all, and Doc says he guesses they’ll find out.

The drone spins. Roberta says. have mercy. and cries out.

General Hospital

Anna tells Finn it’s lucky he met her, and he says his presence is the only thing preventing her from putting on a bathrobe and adopting a cat. She can’t believe he played the cat card, and says plenty of men would want to be with her, starting with him. He asks if she thinks he wants to be with her, and she says, doesn’t he? He grabs her and kisses her. He says she’s still arrogant, and she says he’s still miserable. They kiss some more.

Franco asks if Elizabeth wants to go to the art therapy room for some therapy. She likes the idea, but has to mail Jake’s cards. She says he made a card for Franco, and Drew, who he still looks at as his father, but not for Jason. Franco says it’s an adjustment. Elizabeth says normally she’d ask Andre, and Franco says, no, she doesn’t want to do that.

Jordan brings Andre some food from Kelly’s. She hears Julian shouting. He wants to know what’s going on, and why he was dragged down there. Jordan tells him to kindly dial it down. He says he’s not saying another word until his lawyer gets there. Magically, Scotty appears, and Julian complains that they didn’t even read him his rights. Scotty was supposed to get the shackles off. He says he’s done with trials, prison, and the PCPD. He says he’s walking out. If they don’t like it, shoot him.

Alexis waits for Drew in his office. He tells her sorry he’s late. He needs some help with some contracts and other paperwork. She tells him those are legalities that can be arranged. She’s not just any attorney, she’s Sam’s mom, and needs to know if he’s going to do right by her daughter.

At the docks, Sam says Jason wanted her to have the ring because she was his wife, but she’s not anymore.

Anna’s phone rings. It’s Robin. Anna says she wishes she had something exciting to report, but things are dull at the moment. I’m surprised Robin isn’t asking what’s wrong, since Anna answered the phone panting, like she was in the middle of a workout.

Franco tells Elizabeth why make trouble where none exists? Jason is doing fine. Elizabeth is disappointed in Andre and herself. She trusted him, and it’s made her doubt everything and everybody. Franco asks if he’s included, but she says no, she has complete faith in him. He says he’s going to do whatever he can to make sure it stays that way. Elizabeth tells him that she loves him, and they start kissing. Kiki clears her throat, and says she’s going to report them to HR for fraternizing. Franco says they’re not fraternizing; they’re just making out. Kiki comments on Elizabeth’s ring, and tells them congratulations. Elizabeth says she’ll be back, and they can go home together. Kiki tells her that she’ll keep an eye on him. When Elizabeth is gone, Kiki asks if everything is okay, and Franco says, great, but it doesn’t sound like it.

Julian whines that it’s open season on Julian Jerome, like always. Jordan tells him if he doesn’t quit it, she’ll have him arrested for resisting release. DA Campbell elected not to retry the case. Scotty says the good news is, he’s free; the bad news is, his bill is a doozy.

Drew tells Alexis nothing personal, but it’s not his life he needs help with; it’s Aurora. Now that they’ve determined he’s not Jason, he wonders what the legalities are. Alexis asks why he doesn’t go to Diane, since she negotiated the purchase. He says she’s no longer his lawyer; she’s Jason’s. he’s worried that she’s going to confiscate what’s his, and give it to Jason. Alexis says she is fiercely diligent. Drew asks if he can count on her help. She says that depends on if she can count on his.

Sam says when she thought Drew was Jason, they started to reconnect, but wanted a clean slate, so they got divorced. They wanted a fresh start, instead of recreating the past. When he asked her to marry him, he put this ring on her finger, but it wasn’t his to give; it’s Jason’s.

Robin puts Emma on the phone, as Finn bites the head off of a gingerbread man. Anna tells Emma it seems like yesterday they were going to see Santa, and not to be in a rush to grow up – some people never do. After she hangs up, she tells Finn those cookies are expensive. He asks if she wants to talk about it, and she says no. Did he think she would because she’s a woman, and they’re all talky-feely?  She’s sorry to disappoint. She pulls out some gifts and wrapping paper. She tells him they need to wrap gifts for the children’s home, and take a box of ornaments to the park for the tree. Finn calls her a regular Christmas elf. She knows he’s more the Grinch type, but if they’re going to look authentic, he might as well help, since he’s determined to go undercover. He says he’ll work with her as long as it takes to bust her. Ann says that Christmas cheer is part of the deal.

Julian thanks Scotty, and says now they can move forward with the other project. Scotty says he’s on it. Jordan tells Julian to use his second chance to live a better life, or it will be her pleasure to send him back to Pentonville. Elizabeth asks comes in wanting to talk to Jordan.

Drew tells Alexis he’s not going to forget what he had with Sam, and hand her over to Jason like a baton. Alexis says she was just testing him. She’s on his side. He’s good to and for her daughter, and made a calculated choice to give her and the kids a safer life. That’s why she’s here. They need to tackle the biggest problem first. He and Sam aren’t legally married.

Jason tells Sam the traitor could be in Port Charles. A call Klein made in Russia was traced call back to there. Sam says she’s trying to give back the ring, not talk about Faison. He says Faison is the reason she’s giving It back. He lost five years, and needs to know how everything fits, and if there’s a threat. To do that, he needs his brother’s help.

Elizabeth visits Andre. She needs answers. Jake trusted him, and he broke that trust. She doesn’t know how to explain it to him, but has to tell him that Andre broke the law, and can’t talk to him when he needs it the most. His father isn’t his father’ he’s a stranger. Andrew says it’s confusing. He knows Jake is struggling, and it’s a lot to process, but he has the tools now. He can trust his family and himself. He’s in a good place, and Andre is confident he’ll find a way through with their love and guidance. Elizabeth says he has Franco too, and Andre says, about Franco…

Kiki asks Franco what’s going on with Elizabeth. She knows when he gets twitchy, something is bothering him, and he’s in serious danger of making it worse. He tells Kiki that he didn’t trust to tell Elizabeth something. He’s learning to care and feel, but he’s bad at it. Kiki says the alternative is the old Franco, who had no conscience, and no one to love.

Alexis looks through Drew’s paperwork. He says doing this feels like packing up bits and pieces of his life. She asks if he still wants to leave Jake and Danny in his will. He does, and she asks about Sonny and Carly being guardians if something happens to him and Sam. Drew says his entire existence is invalid. Alexis tells him it’s nothing that can’t be fixed, but they need to discuss everything with Sam. It’s her life too.

Jason explains to Sam that Drew went AWOL three months before he was shot. Drew might have seen the traitor. He doesn’t remember, but maybe the baseline exists. Sam asks if Jason thinks his memories can be given back. He doesn’t know, but he’s like to find out. Sam says even so, it wouldn’t matter. She’s married to Drew; they have a life and family together. Danny is Jason’s son, but he loves Drew. They can’t undo what Faison has done, and she can’t keep the ring, since she can’t keep the promises made with it. She tries to hand it back. He touches her hand, and they give each other soap opera looks.

Finn wraps gifts way better than I do, and Anna too, apparently. She tells him that hers aren’t as compulsively perfect, but her skill set more suited to espionage. He tells her to stop; it’s hard to watch. He takes over making a bow.

Elizabeth tells Andrew that Franco is handling it. She knows he’s not the most forthcoming, and has a tendency to keep dark and damaging things inside, but he’s been through a lot, and she loves him. They’re getting married. She asks if this is where he throws warnings at her, but he says he knows Franco loves her. She brings out the best in him. He congratulates her, and wishes them nothing but happiness

Franco tells Kiki that everyone says to be honest, but everything between him and Elizabeth is perfect; why mess it up? Kiki can’t tell him what to do, but thinks he’s paying a price for staying silent. He says he’s mostly scared to disappoint Elizabeth, and for her to lose faith in him or herself. Kiki says he’s being human, having feelings for people he loves. He tells her it sucks. Aiden wants him to read Pinocchio every night, and he hates it. He’s spent his life being hollow pieces of wood. Kiki wonders if that makes Elizabeth the Blue Fairy. Franco says she’s magic. Kiki says love is a gift, and stop trying to save her.

Julian thanks Scotty for coming through. Scotty says he can’t take all the credit; Julian’s crazy sister helped. As for the other piece of business, once it’s done, it’s done. Scotty wants him to be aware of what he’s signing. Julian says he is, and Scotty tells him to go ahead and sign his life away.

Alexis tells Drew that they’re navigating uncharted waters. They need to resolve the custody issues and the Quartermaine trust settlement. Drew tells her about Oscar, saying it just keeps on coming. He just found out, but had never known. He and Kim knew each other when he was in the Navy. He only knew her a short time, but that was enough. Sam knows, and has been nothing but supportive. Alexis thinks they should table the questions before his head explodes, and they can talk tomorrow. He’s dreading talking to Sam about their marital status, but Alexis tells him to face it head on; he might be pleasantly surprised. Drew appreciates her believing in him. She says he’s good to her daughter, and that works for her. When she gets outside, David calls. She tells him they’re still on for tonight.

Jason won’t take Sam’s ring. He can’t; it’s hers. He understands why she’s not wearing it, but tells her to give it to Danny. He’s their son, and someday, he can give it to the woman he loves. As fast as kids grow up on soaps, that shouldn’t be too long from now.

Anna asks what is it with Finn? He doesn’t dance, he doesn’t do Christmas. She takes a piece of mistletoe out of the box, and they smile at each other.

Alexis sees Julian at dive bar Charlie’s. She asks if he has a tracking device, and he says no, and he was there first. She tells him she’s meeting someone, and doesn’t want to be uncomfortable. She’s glad for his freedom, but doesn’t want drama. If he respects her, he’ll leave; one of them has to. He says it should be her.

Jordan tells Andrew that she wishes things could be different. So does he. The guard cuffs him, and he’s taken away. Before he leaves, Jason asks to speak to him briefly. Jordan wonders if he should have a lawyer present, but Andre says it’s fine. Jason says he took a baseline of the memory map, and asks if it still exists, and if the memories could be returned. Andre says it’s never been done, but in theory, it could. Unfortunately, he destroyed everything before he left. Jason asks if it’s gone, and he says, not quite.

Elizabeth tells Franco that she went to Andre because she needed closure, and for him to understand how difficult it is for Jake. He thinks Jake will be okay, and is in a good place. Andre said he’ll adjust, and she believes him.  She also told him they’re getting married. Franco asks if Andre told her to run for the hills? She says actually he said congratulations and wished them happiness. He told her that she brings out the best in Franco. She didn’t say it, but Franco does the same for her. She kisses him, but then asks, what is it?

Sam goes to the office. She tells Drew she went to the pier to think, and ran into Jason. It was a little intense. She thanked him for clearing up the desertion charges, and they talked about Spinelli. It came up about Spinelli being the one who married them, and she realized she was still wearing the ring Jason gave her. Drew says Jason did give it to her first. She says it was his grandmother Lila’s ring, and he wants her to give to Danny to give to someone he loves someday. Jason hands her his ring, saying Danny should have that too. It belonged to Alan, who was also his father, but he raised Jason. They shouldn’t be wearing rings anyway, since they’re not actually married. Way to drop that bomb.

Julian tells Alexis that he was just about to order. She asks him to surprise her, and do the right thing. He says he’s not leaving. He owns the place. He just bought it.

Finn takes the mistletoe. They get close, but then he pulls away, saying, let’s get going, and puts it back in the box. They gather up the presents, and he asks if she needs help putting them in the car. She says no, and he puts on his jacket. They keep looking at each other. He tells her goodnight, and not to wait up. She says she wouldn’t dream of it. This is going to be like Moonlighting, isn’t it?

Franco tells Elizabeth that Andrew was right. She brings out the best in him, but he hasn’t been his best self lately. He used to be able to lie or keep things to himself and sleep like a baby, but now it actually hurts him. He to tell her something that he should have told her before now.

Jason asks Andre if there’s a copy of the baseline. He says there’s a copy of both memory maps, along with a detailed record of what he did. He put it in a Christmas ornament, and gave it to the only person he trusts, but they don’t’ even know what it is.

Anna takes the box of ornaments to the car. I guess that means it’s her.

Drew tells Sam that they married when he thought his name was Jason Morgan. It isn’t legal, but he meant every word of his vows. He needs to say them again in his own name. So, would she marry him?

On Monday, Elizabeth asks why Franco didn’t give anyone the proof, Jason thinks Drew remembers more than he realizes, and Lulu asks Maxie for a favor.

Once Upon a Time

Jacinda takes Lucy to the hospital.

In Lucy’s parallel life, she’s born into a magic kingdom. Henry wonders where his mother is, and Drizella says she was detained. He wants Drizella to leave, but she has a prophecy to deliver. On Lucy’s eighth birthday, their lives as they know them will end. Hook says not so fast, and Henry tells her to look down. She’s turning into stone, and Lady Tremaine says she can’t have Drizella casting the curse. Drizella says she’ll be back, and they’ll know what true misery is.

Tiana thanks everyone for coming to Lucy’s birthday. Regina lights the candles with a poof! but when Lucy blows them out, it gets dark, and lightening flashes. Gothel pops in next to the now statue of Drizella. She asks if they really thought there would be a celebration. Hooded figures are backing her up, Drizella comes back to life. Regina says the magic can’t be broken. Gothel says not by one, but as a family they can do anything. She tells Drizella the suffering shall begin. They disappear; no poof, no smoke, no nothing.

Back at the hospital, Sabine tells Jacinda that Lucy will be fine. She thinks Jacinda should call Rogers; maybe he can help them figure things out. Victoria watches Anastasia watch TV. Weaver says he didn’t know Lucy would pay the price. Victoria says her daughter isn’t his Guardian. Her magic might save Lucy, but not if she dies. Victoria has no choice but to let him protect her.

In San Francisco, Roni looks at the vial, and asks Henry if everything’s okay. He thinks something’s wrong, but she tells him to focus. They came here for a reason. Spin class? They take their places on the bikes, and Roni tells him to play along and pretend he loves it. Zelena is the instructor, but her name is Kelly here.

In olden days, Henry tells Lucy they stopped her once, and can stop her again. They’re going to fight. She asks if she gets a sword, but that’s a no. Cinderella wonders if they’re doing the right thing. Henry says if Regina can’t stop the curse, it’s the only way to keep her safe; to keep all of them safe.

In the forest, Regina watches some piglets in a pen. An arrow comes thisclose to her, followed by more. She turns around, and tells the archer she’s impressed; she’s getting good. Zelena appears, and says luckily, she has her father’s aim. Regina says Robin is growing up fast, but Zelena says not in their realm.

Because you can never be alone, even in the middle of the woods, Drizella grabs Zelena from behind. Regina tells her to free her sister, and the cloaked figures appear. Zelena says they’re witches, the cult of the eight; the worst of the worst. Regina thinks they should fight witches with witches. Zelena says, let her get her wand.

After spin class, Kelly is surprised to see Roni, who’s interrupted her happy place, and is the epicenter of her unhappiness. Roni says she’s there for a reason. Henry leaves them to talk, and Kelly asks why Roni is there. Roni says they were like sisters, but Kelly sees the bitch who ruined daughter’s life, giving her a ticket to Amsterdam, and telling her only losers get an education. Roni says she’s sorry, but Kelly doesn’t understand the whole story. She asks Kelly to have a drink with her, but Kelly says, never. Henry runs in, saying Lucy is in the hospital. He’s getting on the first plane back. Roni tells him be with his family – help Jacinda

Back in the day, Rumpelstiltskin giggles as he spins. Hook says they need his help. He must have magic to stop the curse. Rumpel says he has a bit, and shows Hook a white elephant figurine. Hook asks if it will stop the curse. Rumpel tells him nothing can stop it, but it can keep his most precious relationship intact. When it happens, it will insure that he will still be a father and she will still be a daughter. Alice hides behind a tree, and Hook asks if that’s who she wants to be. She owes it to him to stay by his side. She gives him a note to give to her mother. He says he’ll deliver it, and do his best to make sure nothing harms any of them.

In Hyperion Heights, Tilly sees Weaver on the street, and asks if he remembers the symbol from the journal. She shows him where someone has painted it like graffiti. He wonders what that’s doing there.

Henry arrives at the hospital. Jacinda cries in his arms.

While waiting for Kelly, Roni puts the contents of the vial in some liquor. She tells Kelly that the anger is all meaningless. She’ll remember they were like sisters. She’s not leaving until Kelly has a real drink with her, and she pours some shots from the bottle in her purse. Why Kelly doesn’t mention how weird this is, I don’t know. Kelly drinks it, and Roni says they’re cursed, doesn’t she remember? They are sisters; the Evil Queen and the Wicked Witch. Suddenly, Kelly remembers everything, and becomes Zelena. She asks what’s going on, and Regina says she teaches peddling. Zelena says she was cursed to be a hippie, and Roni tells her that Gothel is out. They’re in danger, and Zelena has to come with her. Someone has to pay for this. Zelena hesitates, saying she had a life here; it’s not that easy. She unzips a garment bag, revealing a fabulous wedding gown. She’s getting married.

Weaver has a line-up of daggers on a table. He tells Anastasia that he’s performed this test many times, and asks her which one has magic? She picks one up, and says no. The table starts to shake, and the daggers fly into a cupboard door. She thinks it’s in there. I wield no magic whatsoever, and I’d probably think the same thing. Weaver opens the cupboard, and takes out the real dagger. Anastasia doesn’t want its power if it does things like that. He says it can be used to heal and help. Victoria’s little girl needs time to show what she can do.

Zelena tells Regina he’s a good guy. She might be cursed, but he makes her happy. Regina says she can come back after the curse is broken. She doesn’t mean to screw up Zelena’s life. Zelena says she loves her, and knows Regina has to save her family. It’s what she always does. She tells Regina, let’s go.

Jacinda and Henry watch over Lucy. Henry wishes he could do more. Jacinda suggests reading to her, and takes out Once Upon a Time. She tells Henry whenever Lucy looked at his book, it gave her strength. He takes Jacinda’s hand.

In ye olde forest, Henry shows Lucy the oldest part of realm. He points out a tree that has the same magic that brought his mom to Storybrooke. He introduces her to Tiger Lily, who says she found Geppetto’s ax. Henry asks if Lucy remembers the wardrobe. She doesn’t want him to cut the tree down. He tells her if the curse happens, she has to go to a land without magic, and find their people. With the book, she can help them believe. He tells her it’s okay. Just believe in him. He gets to work cutting the tree. It’s so big, it should only take a million years with an ax. Henry hears something, grabs a torch, and runs to a cottage. He tells Lucy wake up; they’ve been found, and it’s time. He’s going to stay behind to give her time to escape. She doesn’t want to go without him, but he says she has to make sure the book stays safe. Something very big is at the door. Henry makes her take the book and run. The something comes in, and it’s shadow encompasses the entire room.

Lucy says witches got her father. Cinderella says what Drizella wants is to distract them from stopping the curse. If they don’t, nothing will matter, not even Henry.

Gothel works some magic. Drizella looks at her notes for the curse. She says she’s waited so many years to cast this curse, and thanks Gothel. Lady Tremaine tells Drizella she finally found a mother figure, but she’s just being used. Drizella says no one controls her. Lady Tremaine is going to think she did it to save Anastasia, when actually it will be in service to her. Then she’s going to rip Anastasia from her arms forever. She tells Lady Tremaine to go to sleep, and she does. Regina asks if she’s still working out her mommy issues. Drizella says the sisters won’t be enough, and Regina says Zelena isn’t the only one she brought. She has Cinderella, Hook, and Jack. Regina says if she wants a witch fight, they’re happy to oblige; she won’t be casting a curse.

Drizella says, no, you will, and tells Gothel to show her. Gothel reveals Henry, who looks like he’s in bad shape. She says they did to him what witches do best – poisoned him. Regina’s magic won’t work, and Drizella says it’s not going to, and the only thing that can change that is a trip to land without magic. Regina tells her don’t do this; a curse takes time and ingredients. Drizella says there are eight, and she has seven. The last one is the most important, and hardest to find – magic from a witch who crushed the heart of one she loves most. Does she choose Drizella’s curse or Henry’s life?

In the land without magic, Weaver tells Anastasia she has it, and it’s the only ay to save a girl. Anastasia says, someone is here; it’s her place. Everything starts to shake. The door blows open, and it’s Gothel. Everyone flips around like the characters in Carrie at the prom. Anastasia runs out of the room.

Drizella finds her and says her mother called her to come and help. She tells Anastasia that these will help dampen the magic, and puts bracelets made of vines on Anastasia’s wrists. Anastasi says the witch is after her, but Drizella says she won’t let anything happen to her, and leads her outside.

In the land with magic, Drizella says there’s nothing Regina can do except cast the curse. Regina says she’ll do it. Zelena says it’s not what she wants, but Hook says she’d do it for Robin; let her go. Regina says, let’s do this, but know one thing, it’s not over. The pattern of a wheel has been dug into the ground. Regna drips blood into it, and it bursts into flames.

Rumpel says, gold in a room in my mind. Alrighty then. He gives Alice a key, and says if it doesn’t work, she knows what to do. Robin sees Alice, and says she got her letter. They kiss. Robin says she wanted to see her one last time. Alice says they’ll always know each other. A storm starts to brew.

Cinderella asks what happens to Lucy? How will she find her, if she doesn’t even know she exists? Hook gives her the elephant, and says she’ll know. The flames leap higher. Everyone watches from their respective spots. Smoke envelops the kingdom.

At the modern-day hospital, Henry reads, every curse can be broken. You just need believe. When he learned that, he knew he could believe in everything to save child’s life. He says he gets it. He would do anything to save Lucy, no matter how crazy. If somewhere he’s her dad, he believes. He kisses her om the forehead, like the illustration in the book, but nothing happens. Jacinda sleeps in a chair in Lucy’s room.

Roni tells Zelena that Henry says Lucy is no better. Zelena suggests true love’s kiss, but Roni says he tried it. Victoria must have stopped Lucy’s belief. Zelena says if it will help, she’ll get her magic back, but there’s only one way to do that. Regina says, break the curse. If they do that, Henry dies. If they don’t, Lucy does.

Anastasia asks where they are, and Drizella says a gathering place for her and her family. Gothel appears, and asks what’s going on. Drizella says she’s sick of living in Anastasia’s shadow. She’s going to steal her magic, like she’s stolen everything from her. Anastasia grabs her hand. Drizella tells her to let go, but she can’t. Drizella asks what happened. Gothel says she didn’t plan to use the vines to give Anastasia’s magic to her, but used them to give Drizella’s magic to Anastasia. She should have listened to her mother. Gothel throws Drizella into a well. Victoria is already there, and says, don’t dare look at me.

Gothel takes Anastasia to a room that holds the witches’ cloaks. Gothel says they’re beautiful. They’re just cloaks right now, and belong to the darkness, but soon they’ll find the women meant to wear them. The sisters of the coven of eight will be joined.

This spring, the battle has just begun, a conflict of dark magic where two families hang in the balance, and the war of the witches. Once Upon a Time is back on Friday, March 2nd, 2018.

👹 It was also Z Nation‘s season finale, as well as a two-parter. I realized there’s no way I could properly edit that and get any sleep at all. It’s so late, it’s possible I’m not even making sense right now. But fear not, I’ll bring the zombies in all their gory to the blog tomorrow, as well as this week’s quotes. The really good news is…

General Hospital

Finn is on the phone trying to get a room. He asks what about room 237? He’s aware of its reputation, but poltergeists would be a step up from his current situation. Nothing is available, so he asks to be at the top of the cancelation list. Anna tells him it’s tough getting a room at this time of year. Lucky he has a generous host.

Valentin meets Cassandra at the MetroCourt. He’s surprised she wants a public meeting. She says she offered to entertain him in her room, but he could also invite her to the island. Valentin tells her that Windemere is off-limits, as well as his family.

Nina catches Lulu wandering around Windemere. Lulu says she was looking for Charlotte’s Christmas list. Nina says she sent Lulu an email, but Lulu says it must have gotten lost in her SPAM folder. Nina says good thing she was home, or Lulu would have had to break in. Nina leaves to look for the list, and Lulu roots through some piles of construction paper. Because the best hiding place is among craft supplies.

Kim looks at a family photo at the Quartermaine mansion. Monica tells her that Jason had just started college in that picture. He was going to be a doctor, but there was an accident. He dropped out of school, and moved out. They basically lost him. Kim asks if it stayed that way, and Monica says it was a long, slow process. They continued to love him, and she thinks he eventually loved them back. A few years ago, they had a renaissance of sorts. He was approachable, easier, and warmer, and she should have known then that he wasn’t Jason.

Oscar tells Drew his mom is at work, but Drew was hoping to see him. He asks if Oscar feels like talking, but Oscar says his mom would be pissed if he let a stranger in. Ouch. Drew says he’s not really a stranger, is he?

Jason tells Sam not to walk away; talk to him. She asks what he wants to know. He asks how Drew is doing; he knows the Navy dropped the charges. Sam says there’s still a review coming, but Commander Fuller told them it’s just a formality. Drew was exonerated because of him.

Laura stares at Valentin, and Doc asks if she wants to leave. She says no, but it doesn’t get easier. She tells him that Lulu keeps asking about a wedding date.

Lulu finds another ballot voting for Felicia in Charlotte’s scrap paper. She wonders why it’s there, and what’s going on? Nina comes in, and says she was wondering the same thing. She asks if Lulu is looking for these, and dumps out a bag of ballots.

Anna gives Finn a room with his own bath, and he asks if there are bars on the windows. She tells him that Roxie is relaxing in her terrarium, and everything is all made up; there’s even a great mud mask in the bathroom. He says she’s enjoying this, but she says she’s more accustomed to her bachelor life, as she hurriedly puts a coaster under his cup. She tells him that he has another option – bow out and leave Cassandra to her.

Sam gets annoyed that Jason doesn’t want any thanks, and he asks why she’s getting mad. She says it wasn’t fair to ask him to get involved, but she knew he’d come through. When they were at the station, she knew how much Drew was hurting, but didn’t pay attention to him, and how everything had been taken away. He tells her it’s okay, but she says, no, it’s not. She doesn’t know what else to do. She loves Drew; she married him. Jason says he knows.

Oscar says he guesses Drew found out he’s his son. Drew apologizes, saying he should have reached out first before just showing up. Oscar invites him in, saying sorry about the stranger thing. Drew tells him not to worry; that’s how people look at him now, and he feels like one. Oscar explains that he’s home because he skipped gym; they’re doing square dancing, and he’s a disaster. Drew says he has two left feet too. True story. My fifth-grade teacher was a professional square dance caller. We were her experiments.

Monica asks Kim to sit down, and thanks her for coming. Kim says she couldn’t decline an invite from her boss, but Monica says the relationship goes further than that. About an hour ago, she found out Kim’s son is her grandson. Kim says she believes he’s a descendant of Alan’s, but not her. Monica says she did her homework. Kim says it’s hit as hard and fast as it has with her. Monica says she doesn’t think it’s an accident that Kim and Oscar ended up where Oscar’s very wealthy family resides. Kim gets up, saying she wouldn’t want her boss to think she was shirking her duty. Monica tells her that she took the liberty of canceling the rest of Kim’s appointments for the day. Kim says they were doing fine on their own. She wanted to give Oscar a chance to know something about his roots. She got a good DNA sample, and followed up on an ancestry website, which got a lot of hits in Port Charles. Monica asks, enough for her to pull up the roots they had, and Kim admits she thought Drew might be there. She knew he’d gone AWOL, and thought maybe… Monica finishes, on the off-chance Oscar might bump into his missing father? Kim says Oscar is old enough to decide. She wanted to give him a chance, but had no idea Drew had a long-lost brother or ties to the Quartermaines. Monica says smart move, putting the information out there, so they would come to her. Kim tells her not to worry about her fortune. She and Oscar will have none of it – or her.

Drew says he knew something was up when Oscar and Josslyn dropped by, and tells him good detective work. He asks how long Oscar was looking, and Oscar says that Josslyn helped, but it took a couple of months. Drew says he didn’t know he had son’ there’s a lot he doesn’t know about his life. Oscar says it’s rough, finding out you have a whole other life. Drew says if anyone has a notion of how he feels, it would be Oscar.

Sam asks Jason if Sonny is okay. Jason tells her they got a lead on Faison. He was in Port Charles. They missed him, but were able to question his daughter. She told them that Faison didn’t even know he was alive until the story about the skylight broke. Sam thought it was Faison who sent him to the clinic, but Jason tells her that Britt said after the procedure, he was supposed to be killed. Faison was double-crossed by someone he calls the traitor. Whoever they are, they’re the reason he’s still alive.

Lulu and Nina look through the ballots. They’re almost all for Felicia. Lulu asks if Nina remembers the battle between Lomax and Felicia, but she says she wasn’t following local politics at the time. Lulu says this is big. Nina thinks it’s bizarre, but who cares? Lulu tells her the race was so close, there was a recount. If these are authentic, it’s hard evidence of tampering. Someone stole the election from Felicia.

Cassandra says she found a man who can complete her product, so they can progress. Valentin says he knows about Finn; he saw her out with him. She’s sorry that cynical, dangerous Valentin has mired himself in domesticity. She tells him when Finn joins with them, she’ll supervise from afar. He asks what if Finn doesn’t want to, and if she’ll extort him too.

Anna tells Finn it’s not too late. One call from her, and the WSB will make sure he gets a room. He says his tax dollars at work. He tells her he can get on the inside of the operation, and now she wants to turn him down. She says it has to be that way, and he asks, since when? She says since she cares about him.

Kim tells Monica it isn’t too late for her to stay out of the family drama. Monica apologizes for coming on too strong. Kim accepts, saying Oscar has the right to know them. Monica asks about Drew. She says she and Alan raised Jason together, but they never knew Drew existed. She’d like to know about the boy they lost.

Jason tells Sam that he keeps going over it. The call from Bernie, and how it was a setup, staged to cover his disappearance. He wonders what the point is. What would Faison get out of putting someone else in his place? The worst thing about it was that Bernie died for no reason. Faison knew he’d show up. Sam says yes, Bernie was a loss, but there were other losses that night.

Laura and Doc kick around dates. She asks why not elope? It’s not the first marriage for either one of them. Doc tells her to hold that thought. He shows her his phone, and says here’s a possibility. She says he can’t be serious. He tells her if they can’t find a date in 2018, why not 2017? She says, Christmas? He says, why not?

Lulu says she’s taking the ballots; they belong to the city. Nina asks if she’s really doing her civic duty, and Lulu says eventually. Nina wonders if Lulu thinks she’s Bob Woodward, and Lulu asks if she’s afraid Valentin stole the election.

Finn is surprised Anna cares about him, and she amends it to she cares about his safety. He says she had no concern before, but she tells him she was in charge, and planned to take the reins. She says he should stick to medicine, and he says he tried; she wouldn’t let him. Anna says he’s a valuable asset to the hospital, and an honorable man. She didn’t take that into consideration when she dragged him in. She asks that he let her redeem herself and cut him loose. She tells him to call Cassandra, and decline the offer.

Cassandra tells Valentin that with some financial incentive and ego stroking, she has every confidence in Finn’s cooperation. She says Valentin is a special snowflake, and not everyone needs motivation. He wants to talk to Claudette. Cassandra tells him to do his job, and she promises Claudette won’t tell the world why they think she’s dead. Her phone rings, and she tells Valentin that she needs his undying commitment. He says it’s understood, and leaves. She answers the phone, and tells Finn that she was just singing his praises, and asks if they’re going to partner up. He looks at Anna.

Lulu asks why Nina is flustered. Nina says Valentin didn’t even live there then, but her brother did. In fact, they found the ballots when her brother was still king of the castle. An investigation might take her places she doesn’t want to go. Lulu takes ballots and leaves.

Finn tells Cassandra that he’s given it a lot of thought, and he’s taking her up on it. They can do great things together. She couldn’t agree more, and tells him the next step is for him to review her chemist’s work. He tells her when he makes a commitment, he sticks by it. He doesn’t cut and run, no matter what. He gives Anna another look.

Kim tells Monica that she and Drew were only involved for three months. He grew up in an orphanage, but he was a Navy SEAL, the best of the best. He’s not the type to brag, but it meant everything to him, the brotherhood and the comradery. Monica says he has a real brother and family now. So does Oscar.  Kim says, a larger than life family. Monica admits the Quartermaines are a force unto themselves. They love each other fiercely, and welcome Oscar with open arms. Kim says Oscar has to decide what’s right for him, and Monica asks her to give him a message that he’s always welcome, no matter what he decides. And if he decides to learn about his family, she’ll be happy to be his tutor.

Drew doesn’t expect anything from Oscar; no pressure. He’s managed this far without him. Oscar guesses it’s late to have father, especially one who already has a kid. He and his mother did okay; she’s awesome. Drew says she clearly raised a great young man. Oscar tells Drew that he said himself that he knows nothing. Drew tells him what he’s trying to say is, he hopes Oscar gives him chance to find out.

Sam tells Jason the night he was shot, they searched, but the divers couldn’t find him. She didn’t believe them, and went in herself, but only found the phoenix figurine he’d given her for Christmas. Jason says Faison must have had people waiting. Sam says the story seemed off, and didn’t add up. She questioned Faison, and there were no answers, but she knew in her heart. Her instincts said he was still alive. She would come there at night and stare out on the water. She thinks part of her was waiting for him. She thought he came back; she thought his brother was him, but that doesn’t change anything. Even knowing he’s not Jason, she could never regret loving him. Jason sighs.

Valentin comes home, and Nina asks if tampered with the 2014 mayoral election. He has no idea what she’s talking about. Nina says never mind. Lulu implied that he was in on a shady deal. He tells her that she knows all about his shady deals. Can they start again? They kiss. She says she smells Enchantment, and he was with Cassandra.

Anna tells Finn there’s a spare blanket in the closet. He asks if she’s sulking, but she says she’s furious he can’t see reason. He says, right. He’s going to be able to give Cassandra everything she needs. Anna says unless he gets taken out first. Finn says good thing she’s looking after him. Now it’s her turn to say he’s enjoying this, and tells him that she guesses it’s better than him being alone, wallowing in his own misery.

Jason tells Sam about the manuscript, and that Britt said Faison didn’t write it. It just showed up, and shook him like nothing she’d ever seen. He tried to burn it, but the found it still intact, and Spinelli is analyzing it. Sam says it’s great to have tech genius as a friend. Yes. It is. He came through for Drew too, producing the service record. She didn’t think Drew would accept the truth unless it came from Spinelli. Jason says Diane deserves credit for calling him. Sam asks why Jason didn’t, and Jason says Spinelli is her friend too, and he didn’t want to put him in the middle.

Drew tells Oscar that he’s suggesting they play catch; he’s not a little kid, and has his own life. He’ll back away if Oscar wants. Oscar says it’s not like he was sitting around waiting for a  knock on the door. They each have their own life. Drew says that’s not what he meant, but Kim walks in. She asks what he’s doing there, and what’s going on? Drew says they’re trying to get to know each other. Oscar uses homework as an excuse to leave the room. Kim asks what Drew did, and he says nothing.

Oscar comes out, and Kim tells him Drew left. He didn’t want to interrupt Oscar’s studying. Oscar doesn’t want to talk about him, and Kim says he doesn’t have to. She tells him that she saw his grandmother Monica, and there’s a house full of people who can’t wait to meet him, but she said it was up to him. Kim tells him not to be hard on himself. It’s new to everyone; Drew is nervous too. Oscar blows her off.

Sam tells Jason that she should thank Spinelli. He’s probably a mess, blaming himself, thinking it’s his fault. Jason says she should have seen him trying to explain marrying them. Spinelli thinks he betrayed him, even though he couldn’t have known. They have to keep telling him they’re still his friends, and it’s not his fault. Sam realizes that her wedding ring is the one Jason gave her.

Lulu joins Doc and Laura, and Doc tells her they’ve set a wedding date. Laura says it’s on Christmas, but doesn’t want to infringe on time with the kids. Lulu says their main goal is keeping them from getting up before six, so as long as it’s not at eight am, it’s fine. Laura says it will be her first Christmas with Charlotte. Lulu says what better way to celebrate family than welcoming Doc into theirs, and offers to help. Laura asks what’s bothering her, and Lulu tells her that she can’t say much, but she has a major story that could reset the paradigm in Port Charles. Laura asks if it’s good news, but Lulu isn’t sure if she should report it.

Valentin tells Nina it was just business; nothing untoward. She says everything about Cassandra is untoward. He says it won’t be much longer before she’s out of their lives for good.

Anna says she dragged Finn out of his self-indulgence and melancholy. He says he was plenty fulfilled before she came along. She says living alone in a hotel room with lizard? He tells her Roxie is a better friend than most people. She says she dreads his performances as her boyfriend, no, lover, with his relentless sarcasm. He accuses her of being an elitist with ice water in her veins. He’s the only thing stopping her from sitting around in a bathrobe and getting a cat. She’s like, oh! the cat card, is it? She tells him plenty of men would jump at the chance to be with her. He tells her to show him one, and she says he’s right in front of her. He says she thinks he wants to be with her? She asks, doesn’t he? He grabs her, and kisses her.

Tomorrow, Scotty tells Julian to sign his life away, Kiki asks Franco what’s wrong, and Alexis tells Drew that he’s not legally married to Sam.

🎤 🌟 On Star, there was a lot of bouncing and voguing in the beauty shop – until the cops showed up, shutting them down for illegal cosmetic procedures. Miss Lawrence admitted to Carlotta that he was giving illegal butt shots to boost the economy, as well as butts. Sadly (for me, anyway), Carlotta had to fire him. I’m hoping there’s a reconciliation in the future, as Miss Lawrence is one of my favorites on the show. Simone ran to the roof after blowing the showcase because she took the pills Ayanna gave her “wrong.” Star talked her down, and told her that Ayanna is crazy, and she needs to get away from her. Ayanna’s father left her high and dry when he found out she’d been more than consorting with his enemies. He informed her that she no longer had a record label, and he no longer had a daughter. After finding out what had been going on with Simone, Star threatened Ayanna, going to her office with a gun. Ayanna said Star didn’t have the guts, and while those are usually famous last words, Carlotta interrupted, delicious side curls cascading to her shoulder. She told Star it wasn’t worth losing everything she’d worked for, and she’d only be doing Ayanna a favor. Star left the gun in case Ayanna wanted to follow up on it herself. Alex promised Derek that the Noah stuff was over after the showcase. When Noah made the moves on her after their performance, she cracked him one, but then they got busy. And no surprise, Derek wheeled in mid-business. Elliot died, and Omari told Cotton he was going to take people away from her until she gives him what he wants. She’s not living without him – literally. She told him everyone was right about him from the jump, and to do what he’s gotta do; there’s nothing left for her. Later that night, when she was in the bathtub, Omari was waiting for his moment, and drowned her. Maybe. I’m not positive she’s really dead. Carlotta’s house/beauty shop went up in flames, and Simone ran in to save Karen. At the end, all we knew was that it was arson, and someone is dead, but yay! Star will be back in the spring.

The Walking Dead

Rick tries to get someone on the radio, but only gets static.

Rick is on the road with Carl. Carl says it’s not enough. If he cared, he’d do something. It takes more than hope. Carl tells Rick it will be something after the fight’s over, and Rick says not for everyone. Carl asks, what about him?

Rick comes out with Jadis and the Heapsters (sounds like a rock band), and they go to the Sanctuary. There are bodies and zombie bodies everywhere, and it’s a real mess. Tetris Jadis says, not like the picture. Gunfire begins, and the Heapsters jet. Rick ducks behind something. Carol drives up in a car with Jerry. Rick gets in.

On the road (I hate when they flip back and forth like this), Carl says Rick is going to live, and asks why they’re fighting. Because they don’t like the way the Saviors want everyone working for them? He wants something more than just killing other people. Are they just going to kill all of them? Rick says finding a way forward is harder, and something more. That’s how it’s got to be.

We see Rick, Carol, and Carl’s faces. Then Ezekiel, Jerry, and Maggie. And Negan who whistles and laughs, making me smile. Come on. You can’t help but kind of like him. He’s so devil-may-care.

Enid tells Aaron they have to talk to them after coming all this way, right? He tells her that he and Eric used to take trips like this when they were looking for people to take back to Alexandria. She says she’s sorry. She had been thinking about Oceanside, wondering if they’ll talk to them. He says it will be a risk, but they have to convince them. She thinks they should have brought guns. He asks if she wants to drive, and they switch places. She makes an unplanned turn, saying she wants to check something out; give them something they can use. Aaron says they can’t show up empty handed. She drives toward a distillery. Would there really be any booze left after all this time?

Michonne tells Judith she’ll be back soon, and she’ll bring Judith’s daddy back with her. She’s glad Daryl returned. Daryl says they’ll go in tell and them to give up, and they will. She says sorry she couldn’t go with him when he let the zombies in, but he says it’s okay; it worked.

Carl opens an encyclopedia. Tweens everywhere sigh. He looks at a note that says, just survive somehow.

Tara tells Rosita it worked. The walkers are in, and they’ll finish it like they planned. Tara asks if she found any guns. Rosita says nothing heavy, just some grenades. Tara says they can use them to redirect the herd, and Rosita stacks a bunch of crates in her arms.

Enid and Aaron sleep in the car at the distillery. Aaron sees someone, and makes a signal for Enid to be quiet. He gets out with his rifle, and she follows with her gun at the ready. Someone tells them that they shouldn’t have come here, and Enid shoots. A woman says her grandma is dead, and we see Natania on the ground. Aaron and Enid are surrounded by Oceansiders. And they have guns.

Carl messes with a sewer cap, and Michonne asks him what he’s doing, He says he met someone, a traveler. She says, in the sewer? We hear Negan speak through a megaphone, saying he bets they’re wondering why the lookouts didn’t sound the alarm. He’s being polite, and cutting through the cowsh*t. They lose. It’s over. Everyone will have to give an apology, and the one who apologizes last, dies. He kills Rick, and then it’s over. He whistles some more. Michonne can’t believe they got out. Carl tells her to come on, and they drop down into the sewer.

Rick is all shaky. Carol’s face is like steel. Carol and Jerry’s car crashes into something.

Ezekiel sits in his throne room, dejected. He reads a note from someone saying they had to bounce, but I’m not fast enough to see if it’s from Carol or Jerry. He hears a commotion and shooting. He moves quickly, and gets out of there.

Jesus drives with Maggie on the passenger side, and Neil in the backseat. He asks if Maggie thinks they’ll surrender. She says eventually, but not now. Would they give up that quick? She tells him it will be when they run out of food, water, and choices. I’m having difficulty believing they got out of that mess at the Sanctuary. Maggie tells Jesus to slow down; there’s a tree in the road that wasn’t there before. She says, it’s them, and gets on the radio, telling the others to turn around. Too late; they’re trapped.

A truck pulls in front of them. Maggie and I both say, oh sh*t. The back of the truck opens, and Jerry is hauled out. Simon gets out of the cab. He remarks that it’s a damn nice night. I think he’s trying to be like Negan, but IMO falls completely short. A couple of guys lean a crate up against the front of Maggie’s car.

Carol tries to get it together, telling Tara to meet them there. (Where?) Over the megaphone, Negan says they’ll get points for creativity. Tara says they can fight. Carl says they just need to survive tonight. It’s his show, his plan, and they’re all going to do it. They scatter, and Negan says, one minute.

At the Kingdom, Gavin says he didn’t want it to come to this, but they wanted to order off the menu. Now, they have to eat sh*t. He didn’t want to serve it, but the Kingdom and everyone in it belongs to Negan. Moving forward, everything they produce belongs to the Saviors, and they’ll let them hold on to just enough to keep going. All able-bodied men and women will repair and refurbish the Sanctuary. Since they made it a mess, the Saviors will be hanging their hats here.

Simon tells Maggie that due to recent decisions, everything has changed, yet nothing has changed. Everyone needs to hand over their guns. He tells the guy holding Jerry to kill him if anyone tries anything, and that goes for everyone in the cars.

Outside the walls of Alexandria, Negan says Rick brought this on himself. He was willing to work with them. They just had to follow a few simple rules. Now he has to go. Carl appears at the top of the wall, and says Rick isn’t home. Negan tells the Saviors to hold their fire. It’s Carl answering the door like a big boy; he’s proud. He guesses Rick will get back to a smoky surprise, and Carl says there are kids there. Negan says it breaks his heart, but there were kids at the Sanctuary; he must have seen them. There was a baby at the outpost, and he wonders what happened to her. He says none of this sh*t is fair. Hell, he knows that Carl had to kill his own mom. That’s screwed up; ergo, they need someone in charge who’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn’t happen, and that’s him. Carl says they can stop it. Negan says Rick gave his people a choice, but not him. They need a new understanding with apologies. Carl tells Negan if he has to kill someone, kill him; he’s serious. Negan asks if he wants to die. He doesn’t, but he will. If him dying can stop it, and make things different for everyone, it’s worth it. He asks Negan if this was the plan, and if it was supposed to be this way. Is this who he wanted to be? Negan thinks this over.

The Alexandrians zoom past in a caravan. Outside the town, Regina tells Dwight they should have had trucks, but he says it will hold. It doesn’t, and the trucks drive right through.

Explosions start happening in Alexandria. Negan tells Carl that he thought they were having a moment. So did I. Carl drops down, grabs his bag, lights some flares, and throws them around. Everything is burning. The church explodes, and a car blows up right next to him.

Simon tells Maggie and company that one person has to answer for this, but he hasn’t found Ezekiel. They should do themselves a favor and cooperate. I swear, if Ezekiel dies in this episode, I’m not watching next season. He says Ezekiel has to be there somewhere. There were rules, and he broke them. If they don’t give him up, this moves into something traumatic (like it’s not already), and he doesn’t want that. He tells them not to make this worse; the kids don’t need to see this sh*t. Simon gets nothing but silence, and says they’ve got five minutes. Then it’s Negan’s way, and it’s on them, not him.

Maggie asks Simon how they got out. Simon gives her three guesses, and says, let’s say they figured it out. Right now, the Kingdom is getting their innards splayed out, and the Saviors are taking possession. The same with Alexandria, as long as they don’t make it complicated. He tells them it’s the farmers’ lucky day. They’ve been chosen to keep producing. He says Gregory made fool out of him, so he’s hoping Maggie is the one to make things right.

Music is heard, and Simon tells Maggie that they need to shift into active listening. Eugene, who he was skeptical of, worked out. He helped get them out of the situation. Now his guys are leading the herd away. It can go one of two ways. One, he can kill the likeable gent on his knees (Jerry), drag them out, and put her in the box, in which she won’t suffocate like their friend Sasha. He’ll take her to Hilltop, gather everyone, and kill her in front of the whole place. After that, they’ll go back to the Sanctuary, and put her on a spike. Then his people will lead the walkers to Hilltop, and they’ll pull same the move they did – unsuccessfully. It will be a pita for everyone concerned. He tells Jesus to go home, water stuff, and save everyone, mostly him, trouble. He has to kill one of their people; then they’re aces.

Simon shoots Neil. He needed Maggie to know he means business. Now tell him he doesn’t have to go down the line. Maggie says she doesn’t need to do it, but wants to ask a favor. She’d like the box to bury Neil in. Simon tells her, favor granted.

Eugene can’t sleep. No surprise. He takes a drink. He actually might be more fun as a drunk. He weeps a little. Maybe not.

Carl wanders around. Is this his plan? Did the plan not work? Wtf is going on? Negan’s people are all over the place. Carl goes onto the porch of a house, and hears something. He runs, as it blows up behind him.  He sees everything burning. He looks exhausted. Buck up, dude, you’re still a teenager. I’d have been long dead by now, with all this jumping off of things.

In the woods next to the road, Tara says the Sanctuary attack was a mistake, but she made one too. Maybe Sasha would still be alive; maybe everything would end up the same way. Maybe they have to play it out to figure it out. Michonne asks where the hell they are. They hear a vehicle approach. Daryl throws flare in the road. Regina tells Dwight to stop the car; he’s leading them into it, and will get them killed. Daryl and the others start shooting, and gunfire goes back and forth. Regina tells Dwight it was him. She shoots him in the arm, but comes short of killing him, since she almost gets shot.

Alexandria continues to burn. Negan laughs. He says the convoy got away, but the kid still has to be there; he’ll go down with the ship. He tells the Saviors to find him, and don’t kill him. Blow up the houses. He’s going to Rick’s house to make spaghetti. Send Carl his way when he’s found.

A few of the Savior’s see Carl, but he lights more flares, and the smoke blurs their vision. He drops into the sewer.

Eugene tells Gabriel that Dr. Carson is capable of returning to Hilltop, but he’ll die en route. Dr. Carson asks what’s going on, and Eugene says Gabriel told him that Maggie will need his services for the birth. He tells them the guard at the north gate isn’t there. What they choose to do with this information is up to them. Gabriel asks if Eugene killed him, and Eugene explains that he gave him medically induced diarrhea via his coffee, and he’s “catastrophically crapping his khakis” right now. Gabriel asks why he changed his mind, and he says he couldn’t sleep. Gabriel says it’s not too late, and to come with them; they’ll take him back. I wouldn’t be too sure about that. He says he shan’t be doing that, and oops! he dropped the keys to a vehicle parked outside the unguarded gate. Gabriel tells him that he’s doing the right thing. Eugene says that assessment is relative, and Gabriel says no, it isn’t.

Ezekiel pours a line of gas, leading away from quite a few barrels of it, and sets it on fire. The whole thing blows up. He drives a bus through to the Kingdom. One of the Saviors says they need him alive. Carol asks one of the Kingdom people where Ezekiel is, and says to go to her house outside the Kingdom, and meet her there. As Carol gets to Ezekiel, he closes the gate, telling her that he can save them. Someone knocks him out from behind. I’m worried, since he’s a guest on Talking Dead tonight.

Maggie goes back to Hilltop, where the Saviors have been rounded up. Gregory says she knows he doesn’t belong here, and she tells him to shut up. She points to Dean, and says, that one, and tells them to get him out. Gregory is like, aw, man. She asks one of the guys for his gun. They bring Dean out, and Savior Al says, don’t do this. Dean, calls her cupcake, and says if she wants to put on a show, let her. She shoots him. It was probably the cupcake reference. She asks if Al wants to be next. He doesn’t. Maggie says they aren’t even, but it’s a start. She tells them to start fortifying the walls, and bury Neil. Jesus says he thought they weren’t giving up. She says they’re under attack; no more supplies are going in. They have to make a last stand.

Dwight shouts to Daryl and the others that it’s over. He made sure they could get back. He made the convoy come to the roadblock; he knew what it was. Now he can’t go back. Daryl asks how they escaped, and Dwight outs Eugene. He says he can still help them. He knows how the Saviors work, and knows how Negan thinks. He wants them to win, and wants Negan to die. Michonne says they need to get back now, and Enid helps Dwight up.

Maggie writes on the box. We have 38 more. Stand down.

Negan tells Ezekiel they had a good thing going. He felt bad for the kid. He didn’t want that, now more people have to die. Morgan slips around the back. Negan says he liked Ezekiel. Now his people are going to see their king is dead. Morgan stands outside, listening.

Daryl throws a rock into the sewer. Why? I have no clue. Everyone begins their descent. Dwight tells Michonne that he’s sorry. Michonne hesitates before going down. She watches some zombies sauntering around, and shuts the sewer cap.

Hey, it’s Rick. Where has he been? He goes to his house, calling for Carl, Michonne, and Judith. In response, he gets conked in the head by Negan, who says, sh*t isn’t funny anymore. Don’t make him do this. He says he has plans to cut Rick up in little pieces, then when he’s just a creepy stump with a head, he’s going to kill him in front of everyone. Rick asks if he ever shuts the hell up, and Negan tells him, no. He says Rick’s kid volunteered to die, and asks what kind of boy he raised. He tells Rick that he’s going to fix Carl. In a few years, Carl is going to be his own. They start to fight, and Negan says when he’s done with Rick, no one will try what he did ever again. Rick grabs Lucille, and gets a whack at Negan, who tells him not to touch her. He grabs Lucille back, and Rick snatches his gun from under the table. Before he can shoot Negan, Negan pushes him back, and they both go through the window. Rick takes off, and Negan says, sh*t

Michonne slices the top of a zombie’s head off. She looks very determined. A Savior grabs her, and says they’re all dead, and it’s her fault. Well, she’s the one with the big sword, so he dies. She spears him through the forehead, and then won’t stop hacking at him. Rick finds her, and asks where everyone is, but she can’t even speak.

They go through the sewer tunnel, and see the others. Judith is there.

We see the faces of Maggie and Jesus; Rick walking through the sewer, and seeing the others; Carol; Ezekiel, still smiling; and Morgan. Rick sees Dwight. Then we see Eugene’s face, Gabriel, and Saddiq. Carl tells Rick that Saddiq brought him there. Carl seems kind of out of it. Uh-oh. Carl got bit. He shows Rick his wound. When did that happen? Michonne falls to her knees. Tweens everywhere cry, but think he’d make a cute zombie.

We pan out on Carl through the long lens of the sewer tunnel.

As Negan would say, well sh*t.

Next time – February 25th – Dwight says they’re still out there looking, Ezekiel is still alive, the last stand is made, and Negan and Rick make love. Just kidding. And while I’m throwing ideas out there, why doesn’t Eugene put himself to real use, and invent a cure?

💍 On 90 Day Fiancé, it looks like there’s one down already. Molly called it quits with Luis, and rightly so. Very disappointing. The preview for next week showed her still toying with going through with it, but I doubt it’s happening. I hope not. He’s callous and a little strange.

🔬 AMC will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Breaking Bad, with a marathon of the whole thing. It starts December 31st, and runs through the weekends in January. If you haven’t seen this show, check it out. Or watch it fresh if you have. The writing and acting are incredible, and there are many sardonic laughs along the way. The story actually has an ending too. Chemistry teacher turns meth lab king, starring Bryan Cranston. What’s not to like?

What I Watched Today

I was hoping to recap Z Nation, but wanted to cry when it wasn’t On Demand yet. Usually it is the day after it airs. Hopefully, it will show up before the next episode. BTW, there’s no news of it being renewed yet, so if you love it as much as I do, let the SyFy channel know.

Once Upon a Time

A carriage is driven through the forest. Rapunzel is driving, with her husband Marcus and their two daughters in the back. She says she always finds a way for her family. She steps out and goes through a gate. She stoops to gather up some radishes from a garden, and a cloaked figure appears, asking who dares to pick something from Gothel’s garden? and the radishes disappear from her hands. She tells Gothel that her husband is sick, and her children haven’t eaten in two days. Gothel says many come to try and steal her magic, but she’s selflessly risking Gothel’s ire for radishes. It’s rare to find a flower growing amongst the weeds of human nature. Rapunzel says she’ll meant no disrespect and will make payments. Gothel asks what she’ll sacrifice for her family, and Rapunzel says anything. Gothel says they have a deal. Suddenly, thorny vines wrap around and dig into Rapunzel’s wrists, then disappear.

Rapunzel finds herself in a tower with no way out. She tells Gothel that she didn’t agree to this. Gothel says she swore to pay the price for her family’s happiness, and there’s a difference between hers and theirs. Rapunzel says they’ll look for her, but Gothel says they’ll never find her. Rapunzel yells out the window, but the tower is in the middle of a dense forest, and like in Alien, no one can hear her scream.

In the kind of real world, Victoria is in the visitor room at the jail, looking at the scars on her wrists. Ivy/Drizella walks in, and tells her orange looks better on the women in the Netflix show. Victoria says her wardrobe has something in common with Ivy; she’s been stuck with what’s been thrust upon her. She asks why Ivy is there. Ivy says Victoria has taken a family heirloom from her, and Victoria asks if she means Anastasia’s body. She knows Ivy wants the magic within her, and says they both know what she wants to do. Ivy tells Victoria that she has all her assets now, and telling her where Anastasia is, is the only way to get out of jail. Victoria says she doesn’t need Ivy to get her out. Ivy says she’ll find Anastasia herself. She has Gothel helping her now. Victoria says she always gravitated toward any mother figure she could, and asks if someone didn’t get enough hugs. Ivy tells her have fun in prison. Victoria says it’s not the first time someone tried to lock her up, but they learned the lesson that when it comes to her family, she always finds a way. Apparently, she’s the wicked stepmother and Rapunzel.

Lucy asks Jacinda if they can invite Henry over to share the good news that she’s back for good. Jacinda says they’ll talk about it tomorrow, and to get ready for school. Sabine tells Jacinda that Lucy keeps trying to parent trap her. Jacinda says she went to Roni’s to see if she and Henry could work things out, but he’d left for San Francisco with Roni. The bartender was vague about the details, only saying that Roni needed a ride.

Weaver visits Victoria. She says she’s missed their talks. He asks if she enjoyed the talk with her daughter, but Victoria says not since she was four. He says given her current situation, she has little to offer. She tells him she needs help getting to Anastasia, and asks why he’s pretending not to be concerned that Gothel is out of the tower. Weaver doesn’t understand what her nonsense means. She talks about all the knickknacks he’s been collecting, the great love he’s been separated from, and the dagger he can’t get rid of. She asks how the search for the Guardian is going, and says if he helps her today, she’ll share some information with him. She calls him Rumpelstiltskin, and he tells her she has a deal.

In the tower, Rapunzel ticks off the days as her hair grows longer. She sees lanterns floating in the sky outside her window, and gets a scathingly brilliant idea. She anchors her hair, and tells herself to be brave as she climbs out the window.

In Hyperion Heights, Rogers asks Victoria how she got out. She tells him determination. She didn’t get where she is by waiting for others to improve her odds. He tells her that he didn’t ask for a TED talk; he wants to know how she beat the charges. Weaver comes out of the station, and tells Rogers it’s his doing; he didn’t get a warrant. Rogers says there was immediate danger, but Weaver says the judge didn’t see it that way. Rogers knows Weaver is getting something out of this, and he’s going to find out what. Weaver suggests he not cross him. He gets in the car with Victoria, and she says she needs some things to wake her daughter. They have a few stops to make.

Victoria goes to Jacinda’s place. Sabine says a fugitive is here, and Victoria says she’s a free woman. She’s there about her long-standing agreement with Jacinda. Jacinda says she’s not getting Lucy back, and Victoria says she’s there to do the opposite. She’s removing all claims to her granddaughter. Sabine asks what the catch is, and Victoria says there is none. She was testing Jacinda by asking her to sign Lucy over, and she failed, but now she’s passed. She reached out to Nick, and she’s glad he’s back in Jacinda’s life. Jacinda wants to know where this is coming from, and Victoria says she was forced to think about what’s important, and it’s Lucy’s happiness. She gives Jacinda a doll Lucy is fond of, and says family is worth fighting for.

To confuse me even more, young Anastasia is the one sending up the lanterns in front of her home in the enchanted forest. Her sister Drizella says it’s been six years, but Anastasia says she’s not giving up on their mother, and something feels different about tonight. Rapunzel walks out of the woods, and Anastasia hugs her. Marcus comes out, and says he thought she was dead; all he found was her tattered cloak. She says it was a trick. She’d promised Gothel anything for her family to thrive, and was locked away in a tower. Another girl comes out, calling him father, and he tells Ella to go back inside. He tells Rapunzel that she’s his stepdaughter, and introduces her to his wife, Cecilia.

In the present, Gothel tells Ivy that her mother’s entanglement with Rumpelstiltskin is going to prove meddlesome. Ivy says she can team up with the Seven Dwarves for all she cares. If they follow her, she’ll lead them to Anastasia. Gothel tells her it’s a mistake to underestimate Victoria. Ivy asks if she’s speaking from experience. In her experience, her mother always takes wrong path and made poor choices because of it. Now she has to deal with her.

In the fairytale world, Rapunzel pours tea for her daughters. Anastasia says they came for her company, but Drizella says she’s thirsty. Marcus arrives, and asks if they’re ready to head back to the manor. He needs to speak with Rapunzel, and they go inside. He tells her the girls love her. Anastasia speaks about her constantly. Rapunzel says Drizella seems more distant by the day, and he says to give her time; she was very young when Rapunzel left. He takes her old cloak out of his bag, saying he mended it. She’s surprised he kept it. He places it around her shoulders, and says if she hadn’t made the deal, he would most likely be dead and the girls would be in the street. The family owes all their happiness to her. She asks if he still loves her, and he says of course. The girls mean everything to him, but so does Ella and Cecilia. I guess bigamy isn’t against the law in the world of fairytales.

He leaves, and Gothel appears, telling Rapunzel that she’s too strong for tears. Rapunzel thinks Gothel is there to put her back in the tower, but Gothel says no; she admires her resourcefulness in escaping. She knew Rapunzel would escape, and is curious to see if she’ll sacrifice someone else’s happiness for hers. She gives Rapunzel a cartoonish mushroom, something she picked up in Wonderland. She tells Rapunzel to squeeze it into Cecilia’s drink when she least expects it. She can make her go away, and have her family back. Rapunzel throws it into the fire, and says she’s not the kind of person to harm an innocent. Gothel says maybe she’ll find other happiness, but if not, she might come to see it her way. Another mushroom materializes.

Back in Washington state, Nick looks over the papers, and tells Jacinda that Lucy is hers. It’s finally over. She’s glad she called him. She owes him a future life. He kisses her, and she’s like, whoa, and says didn’t want to do this. Nick says he must have misread the signs, and Lucinda says it’s not about him. She’s glad he’s back in their lives, and wants him to have a relationship with Lucy. He says him too, and leaves. Jacinda picks up the mix tape that Henry gave her.

Rogers pulls a fire alarm, and goes into what looks like an evidence room. He sees his Captain Hook hook in a plastic bag, and looks puzzled. He finds a box of folders regarding all of the players in this story. He wonders what Weaver is doing.

Rogers sees Sabine at the food truck, and is impressed at how spiffed up it is. Sabine says they’re nearly ready for the big ball. He tells her that he’s following up on the fire, and she says Weaver already did. He says they need more details, but he didn’t want to bother Weaver on his day off. He asks what she and Weaver spoke about, and Sabine says he told her about how the door was jimmied with a knife he found in the dumpster. Rogers asks if she can describe it, and she draws him a picture of the dagger. She says it didn’t look like something you’d break in with; more like something out of a Tim Burton movie. She tells Rogers that Weaver kept shoving it in her hand, asking if felt anything. She asks what this is about. He says he doesn’t know, but he’s going to find out

Victoria and Weaver go to a mausoleum. He tells her they’ve been followed since they left the police station. She’s aware of it, but not concerned; she has a plan for those two. They open a vault, and Victoria takes out a huge purse, saying it has everything she needs to wake Anastasia. Weaver finds it odd that she wants to reunite with one daughter, when the other waits outside. He had a son who thought as little of him as Ivy does of her, but he never stopped trying to make things right. She says good for him, and he tells her that he ended up losing his son. She tells him not to compare his grief to hers. He has no idea what she’s been through. He says he knows what it’s like to seek reunion, and the costs involved. He paid them, and then his son did. She tells him that she can’t stop now that she finally has a way. He asks where the information is that she promised. Victoria says he’ll get it when Anastasia is awake. As for Ivy, she hasn’t been her daughter for long time.

Back in the day, It’s Drizella’s birthday party. Rapunzel is serving, and Cecilia approaches her, telling her it’s her daughter’s birthday; she should be celebrating, not working. Cecilia wanders off, and Marcus tells Rapunzel the girls get along; maybe the parents should take a cue from them. He says the girls need her, and she says Drizella didn’t even smile at her gift. She sees Drizella getting all excited about Cecilia’s present.

Inside the house, Rapunzel smashes a mirror, and sees the mushroom. She takes it, and squeezes it into a lemonade.

Fast forwarding, Drizella and Gothel go into the mausoleum, but see only Weaver. Drizella asks where Victoria is, and he says long gone. They need to learn how to tail someone better. Gothel wants a moment with Weaver. When Drizella is gone, he wonders how she bought into Gothel’s mother routine; she’s not a mother to anyone. She says mother means different things to different people. She tends to their needs like she can with his. She never thought she’d see a pout on the Dark One, or love in his heart. He says there’s always a time for firsts, and she asks how Belle is. He tells her don’t dare say her name, and she remarks that she struck a nerve. He’s never getting back to her unless she helps him. He says he doesn’t need her help, and Victoria is going to wake Anastasia. Gothel says whatever role she’s assuming today, Victoria neglected to ask the cost, and the cost is the loss of an innocent’s belief. She asks if he has any idea where his great granddaughter is.

Lucy sees Victoria at school. She wants to give her something, and takes the Once Upon a Time book out of her bag. She tells Lucy that she was right. Fairytales are real; her family and belief are all real, but she doesn’t know the whole story. Victoria tells Lucy to come with her, and she’ll tell her the rest.

Lucy is surprised to find out that Victoria is Rapunzel as well as Lady Tremaine. Me too. Victoria says Marcus’s last name was Tremaine, and she took it from him. Lucy says she knew her mom was Cinderella, and Victoria says her unfettered belief is what makes her special. Lucy sees an illustration of Rapunzel using the mushroom, and is shocked that she poisoned her mom’s mom. Victoria says the witch tricked her. She needed her family to be together again. Lucy asks if Cecilia died, and Victoria says no; she could never do that. It only caused her to flee. She didn’t know Marcus would chase after her. Eventually, the family was reunited, and they even welcomed Ella in, but the story didn’t end there.

It’s winter in the enchanted forest. Rapunzel and Marcus watch as the girls build a snowman. Rapunzel says the three seem like sisters. Marcus says he’s been thinking about how much she’s done for the family. The snowman’s hat blows away, and Ella chases after it onto a frozen lake. Anastasia follows her. Their parents are too busy making googly eyes at one another to notice. Marcus tells Rapunzel it’s time he did something to show how much he cares. The ice cracks, and the sisters fall in. Marcus goes after them, diving into the hole they fell through. He pulls out Ella. Rapunzel screams, where’s their daughter? He says he could only grab one.

In modern times, Anastasia is in the hospital on life support. Lucy asks why Victoria is showing her this, and Victoria wants her to see how the world really is, even for the people in the book. She only did what heroes would do. She sacrificed everything for her family, and only got pain in return. Fairytales are real, but happy endings aren’t. Lucy says happy endings are real if you work for them. She believes her family will be together again, and Victoria isn’t a part of her family. Victoria says she believed it too, for far too long; it’s already too late. She shows Lucy her phone, where she has a video of Nick kissing Jacinda. She says Henry means nothing to her. Lucy cries, and Victoria says their stories are the same. They’re separated from those they love, and willing to do whatever it takes to get their families back. Henry has already left town. She tells Lucy that when you’re betrayed by people, you must let them go. She says it’s time to let her belief go. Lucy closes her eyes, and a tear falls on the book. She runs out of the room. By the look on Victoria’s face, I’m guessing a tear is what she needed.

In the old fairytale days, Rapunzel brings Anastasia to Gothel, who says as long as her last breath is in her, she hangs between life and death. Gratitude alone is not enough to wake her though. Anastasia will be going to the tower. Rapunzel says she’s done nothing wrong, and Gothel says it’s not a punishment; it’s a test. She needs a Guardian. When Rapunzel sacrificed everything for her family, Gothel thought she had potential, but she couldn’t resist the temptation to harm an innocent. Perhaps someone else will do better. Rapunzel says if Anastasia is in the tower, she’ll scale it brick by brick. Gothel says she’s made improvements, and there’s magic to prevent any escapes. She checks her pockets for something, and Rapunzel holds up a vial. She says Gothel taught her, when they least expect it. She throws the vial on the ground in front of Gothel, and Gothel disappears, poof! in a cloud of black smoke. Rapunzel tells Anastasia that she’ll bring her back.

In the modern-day hospital, Victoria takes the tear off the book with and eyedropper.

Out on the street, Weaver asks an officer if she’s seen any sign of Lucy. The officer gives him a backpack they found. She asks if he’s sure they shouldn’t contact her mother. He tells her to just keep searching, and remember to report directly to him. Rogers comes by, and shows Weaver the picture Sabine drew of the sword. He asks who Weaver is looking for. Weaver says that’s his business, and to stay out of it. Rogers says he’s been in Weaver’s locker, and he has files on half the town. He can’t tell if Weaver is a dirty cop, or the best one he knows. One minute, he’s talking in riddles, and the next, he’s shutting Rogers out. He can’t shake the feeling that Weaver is trying to tell him something, so just spit it out. Weaver says he’s looking for someone, like Rogers is. Rogers asks what Victoria has to do with it, and Weaver says he thought she could help him, but he was wrong. It’s hard to put into words, but he’s been separated from his wife, Belle. He’d do anything to get to her, and this is in service to that. Rogers believes him, and asks what he can do to help. Weaver says tonight they have to find Lucy.

Victoria approaches Anastasia’s bed with the eyedropper.

Lucy goes home, and Jacinda asks what’s wrong?

Victoria drips the tear onto Anastasia’s forehead. Her eyes open.

Lucy keels over.

Anastasia asks what happened, and Victoria says she saved her. When it comes to her family, she always finds a way. Ivy looks through the window, and walks away with tears in her eyes.

Next time, the winter finale – someone wicked returns, Regina suggests fighting witches with witches, and the first strike ignites a war.

💍 Will Anyone Get Married?

Re 90-Day Fiancé – still working on my monthly dissertation, but it looks doubtful that any of them are making it to the altar. David turned out to be an obnoxious drunk; Luis (who held such promise) didn’t realize that when you marry a woman with children, the children come with the deal; Andrei is a control freak; the guy half of the couple whose names I don’t remember argues with her over wedding plans and refuses to talk about sex (they’re both virgins); and Azan and Nicole are a no, just no. I sense a pattern here…

The Walking Dead

Rick sits in the container. Someone opens it. It’s Tardis Jadis and her cohorts. He tells her it’s not too late; the offer stands. Join them or die. She takes his photo. I guess this is a thing now? She tells him to turn around, and she takes a picture of his nakey behind. Her assistant drafts a letter. He asks why the pictures, and she says, after. He asks, after what? and he’s closed back into the container.

Eugene ponders his crappy life, and takes notes. What he knows, what he doesn’t know, and things he wasn’t aware of. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Dwight. He’s well aware Dwight is the fifth columnist. He’s been charged by Nathan to figure it out, so needs him to cease and desist his back stabbery. In exchange, he’ll keep what he knows to himself. Dwight grabs him by the collar, and sits him down. He says the Saviors are finished. Negan is finished. This place, what it’s been, is over. Food and water are running low, the workers are angry, and the Saviors are scared. All he has to do is nothing. Wait, and let it play out. He asks if Eugene can do that. He’s seen what happens, heard the screams, and smelled the burning skin. Dwight says that’s coming. Once you do those things, you become them, and there’s no going back. Eugene says he thinks about being safe a great deal, and it’s what’s important; what cranks his shaft. He says it’s not perfect, but they’re Saviors, and they save. He tells Dwight his cloak and dagger is on the QT. Just do nothing to anyone within the walls of the Sanctuary, and it will stay that way.

Eugene goes downstairs, where the zombies are clamoring at the windows. A Savior tells him he could use some help; Gabriel is getting worse. He has an infection, maybe more than one, and it’s only a matter of time. Eugene wishes he could help. He wishes for Razzles too (do they still make those?), but if wishes were horses and all that. Dude asks him to stay with Morgan, while he tries to find some Chinese herbs; maybe Eastern medicine will help. Gabriel nearly coughs up a lung, and tells Eugene to sit; Eugene looks worse than he does. Eugene says, he looks like a potato in a sh*t casserole, and sits.

Gabriel reaches for some water, and Eugene helps him drink. He coughs some more. He asks if Eugene is going to help him get Dr. Carson out. Eugene tells him there’s a Wilkes-Barre of walkers out there, and he doesn’t see it happening. He’s a small person, who doesn’t stick his neck out for anyone but himself, and stays in his lane. Gabriel just wants him to do the right thing. Eugene wonders what the definition of that is, since it’s different things to different people. Not going by other’s definitions has kept him staying vertical, when so many have gone horizontal. Gabriel tells him it requires faith, and the trusting belief that God is guiding him, and has a plan. Eugene says that’s absurd. Gabriel says he’s a man of science, but not long ago, would have found it impossible to believe that the dead could walk. (He has a point there.) Gabriel says maybe it’s not impossible. He’ll know what the right thing is when the time comes. He takes Eugene’s hand, and when Eugene takes it away, he sees a red dot on his thumb.

Morgan sees the zombies outside the Sanctuary through his gun site. He hears Daryl say he’s got something. Daryl drives up in the truck.

A Savior whose name I don’t remember visits Eugene. She asks if he’s fixed her boombox. He asks if she’s not distressed they’re trapped. She says she was already trapped. He asks if it’s possible for him to have the second bottle despite the delinquency. He needs it. She asks if he’s making jet fuel, but he says he needs it to sleep. She gets it; she needs help sleeping too. She tried to stop this. They came to him, and asked for help. He could have changed this place to something better, but took care of himself. She gives him the bottle, saying she hopes it helps, but it won’t. Negan summons Eugene.

Daryl says, make it happen. He tells Michonne to cover him. He’s going to crash the truck through the zombies and into the into the building. Michonne is concerned that they’ll be killed, but Daryl says  the workers are on other side. Michonne says it’s risky. Tara says they’ll work with what they’ve got, and Morgan says they’ve got him; Daryl is covered. Rosita thinks they should wait it out; it could go bad. Tara says it almost did go bad, and Daryl says they don’t have the Kingdom anymore. Rosita says Rick went to talk to the scavengers, and thinks they should wait for him. Tara says she knew about the weapons, but didn’t say anything, and look what happened. Rosita says it’s happening without her; she’s out. Michonne decides to see it through, but Rosita asks if it’s easier to risk everything than stay and wait. Michonne says she used to believe that, and Rosita says she wishes Sasha had realized it. Daryl says let’s go, and he gets in the truck with Michonne.

Negan sits at the head of the boardroom table with Lucille. Eugene sits down. Negan tells him if things don’t get fixed soon, a lot of people will die. His people, not him. He’s too good at this, but he doesn’t want to see them die. He doesn’t want to see Eugene eaten. It’s about pooling and organizing strength, and he’s strong. He wants to make sure Eugene knows he knows that. Eugene says their pages are utterly and completely one and the same. Negan holds out his hand. Eugene starts to kiss it, but Negan says he was going for a handshake, and tells Eugene to stand up. He understands the confusion; he rarely does this sh*t. Not many get mutual respect from him. Eugene says work needs getting to, and leaves. Negan smiles.

Eugene works on the boombox. He examines the speaker. He goes to the basement, wearing a miner’s headpiece with a light, looking around in the dark. He sees Sasha’s coffin, and flashes back to her bursting out of it, zombified. He opens it and finds the iPod he gave her. He sniffles a little.

Morgan tells Daryl to cut the engine before he draws walkers. This should be awesome if it works, or even if it doesn’t. Tara gets out to go for a cover spot. Daryl asks Michonne if she’s up for it. She says she came to see for herself if things would work, but she doesn’t get to know that. None of them do, but she does know things are working now, and they need to trust things will keep working. What they’re about to do, is it worth risking that? Daryl says it is for him. She hopes it works, but she can’t do it. She says she shouldn’t, and gets out, looks at Tara, and walks away. Tara says he has Morgan and the snipers; they can do this. Daryl says they will.

Outside on the second floor, Eugene sets the iPod up on a glider that looks like it’s made out of a kite. He talks into the recorder, and says stuff I don’t understand. Dwight tells him not to turn around

Tara runs around the compound, and sees the zombies trying to get into the Sanctuary. She radios that she’s there and ready. Morgan is ready. The lookouts are ready.

Dwight tells Eugene to get up, and back away from that thing. He has a gun, and Eugene gets all shaky. He says he’s attempting to save people’s lives. If Dwight kills him, he’ll be killing a great many innocents. Dwight asks if he’s aware that Negan is going to kill all his old friends. Eugene says they were former traveling companions. Dwight says he’s working with them to keep people alive. They can get rid of Negan, they’re almost there. Eugene says Negan ain’t the dyin’ type. Dwight says he is, and he’ll either execute Eugene or he can take his chances of being shot in the back. Eugene turns the iPod on, and cranks up the sound. The glider takes off, and floats above the zombies. Wtf? I guess he’s trying to lead the zombies away using Dolly Parton. Dwight’s hand shakes.

Daryl starts the truck. Dwight shoots at the glider rather than Eugene. Tara just shoots. Eugene turns around, and Dwight is gone. Morgan shoots. Daryl drives. Eugene ducks. Daryl puts cinderblock on the gas pedal to hold it down, jumps out of the truck, and it slams into the building. Morgan says, clear to the south. Daryl and Tara run as the zombies swarm into the Sanctuary.

The Saviors shoot at them, but they’re way outnumbered. Eugene has a panic attack. Dwight can’t believe it. Regina machine guns, but why bother? Just run. Eugene freezes on a landing as the bodies pile up at the bottom of the stairs, and they still keep coming. Eugene just blinks at the zombies reaching for him.

Eugene goes to Gabriel’s room, and says his invitation is declined. He won’t end up like Sasha or him. He can’t do this. Judge him, but he’s staying alive, and doing what takes to lock that down. He’s going to make sure Dr. Carson stays right there, since staying alive requires his expertise. He’ll survive; it’s all he knows how to do. Morgan is like, go to hell.

Negan tells Eugene he hopes Eugene realizes the storm of sh*t (his favorite word) he’ll be dumping on Rick as soon as he’s clear of the sh*tstorm Rick dumped on him. He asks how it feels to be his second, and to save people. Eugene says it feels great, and he’s solved some other problems. Negan is thrilled that Eugene has made more bullets, calling him magnificent. Eugene agrees he is. Regina and Dwight come in, and say that the dead have taken over the lower level. Negan tells them that Eugene has solved a way out of this mess, and he says he has a topper Dwight looks at him, I’m sure thinking he’s a gonr. Eugene says he’s fixed the intercom. Negan asks if that’s it, and Eugene says, sorry. That kind of thing cranks his shaft. He leaves.

Alone in his  room, Eugene listens to the shooting. He shivers and cries. He should cry. He drinks the liquor straight from the bottle, throws up, and drinks some more.

Rick is hauled out again. A scavenger takes him to the trash heap, and forces him to his knees. A zombie with a helmet is brought out, snapping and snarling. Jadis says, time for after. Rick pops the guy holding him in the nose, and manages to fight, even with his hands tied. He grabs the stick the zombie is attached to, and twirls the zombie around in a circle, so that it nails everyone else. Until it’s head pops off. Rick goes after Jadis, who has a gun, but he trounces her anyway. He gets her on the ground and puts her face a few inches from the zombie’s head, which is still alive and gnashing its teeth. He tells her the others won’t attack today, but they will. They can play their games, draw pictures, sculpt all the sh*t they want, but he’s leaving; maybe they should just run. I agree. They’re not super effective. Jadis signals her people to lower their weapons.

Rick asks if they’re done, and she says, yes. He helps her up. He tells her the Sanctuary is surrounded twenty deep. He tells her to come with him. When the others meet them, they’ll ask for surrender. He alone kills Negan. He asks if there’s a deal, and she says, after, the Saviors things; their things. Rick says, all of theirs; a fourth. Jadis says she gets to sculpt him, and he says no sculpting. His boots and clothes now. I think she likes him.

Rick leads Jadis and company out. He sees some zombies feeding on one of his snipers, and shoos them away. He uses the radio, asking if anyone copies, but there’s nothing. He takes the gun and climbs up the tower. He focuses on the Sanctuary, and sees it empty of zombies. He’s like wtf? but shakier.

Next time, they just have to survive the night, Maggie and Jesus join up with the others, and the big confrontation with a shocking (they promise) ending happens. It’s a 90-minute mid-season finale preceded by a marathon starting Saturday night.

😵 That’s all she wrote tonight. You try dealing with the AOL upgrade that’s more like a downgrade while finishing your Christmas shopping.

General Hospital

Diane remarks on what an eclectic gathering it is. Carly tells them that Jordan and Curtis brought Andre back to answer a few questions. Andrew tells Carly that Curtis texted him, the guy who used to be her best friend. Carly says they’re still friends, he’s just not Jason. Andrew tells Andre to tell the truth; he’s Jason Morgan and the other guy is his twin brother.

At the hospital, David sees Alexis, who apologizes for not returning his texts. She’s embarrassed that he had to extricate himself from her clutches. He says he didn’t mind, and there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. He just doesn’t want to take advantage of her when she’s on the rebound

Julian shows up at Ava’s apartment. He asks if she missed him.

Elizabeth asks Andre, after everything Jake has been through, how could he? Andrew says Andre sabotaged his kid and stole his life. Jordan reminds him that Andre is still in custody, but Andrew asks how she can be objective when she had a relationship with him? Curtis says she went all the way to Cuba to find him, and wants answers herself. Diane says the commissioner is hardly objective, and Andrew says neither is she. Diane tells him feelings are irrelevant. What matters is what she can prove. She can subpoena Andre, and the process could take two weeks to two years, or they can settle it now. Spinelli tries to interject, but she stops him, saying the question is for her client and his brother. Both Jason and Andrew agree to settle it now.

Franco wants to leave, but Elizabeth says she needs to be there, so he decides to stay with her. Diane tells Andre it’s not a legal procedure, but his Miranda rights are in effect. He can remain silent or have a lawyer present. Andre says he’s already been read his rights. He understands what he says can be used against him in court, and he’ll probably get what he deserves. He explains that he developed a procedure to map and transfer human memories. He’d hoped that patients suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s could have their memories preserved and restored. Diane says neither one suffers from those conditions, and asks how they got involved. Andrew says he began his research with the WSB, but they had ethical concerns and shut him down. She asks who financed him after that, but he doesn’t know. The money was sent by wire transfers from offshore accounts. He knew it was possible the procedure could be misused, but thought the long-term benefits outweighed the risks. He tested the procedure on identical twins – Jason Morgan and Andrew Kane.

Alexis blames her daughters for insisting she go out and socialize, and Sam practically ordered David to ask her out. He says he’s enjoyed their time together and would like more, but he’s aware she’s just off a rough break-up. She tells him her ex-husband was just released from prison. He hasn’t been exonerated, but was given a conditional release. David asks if that’s good or bad news, and she says it depends on who you ask. He says he was talking about for her, and she says she has no idea.

Ava hugs Julian, and asks how it happened? He says it’s a long story. She asks why he didn’t let her visit. She went to Pentonville more than once, but every time, he refused to see her. He says he wanted her to go on with her life, and it looks like she has. He tells her that her face is amazing; it’s like new. She wouldn’t go that far, and asks why he’s not in prison. He says he’s been given a conditional release. In the light of Olivia-J’s statement, the verdict has been set aside, and he’s awaiting a new trial. He wonders if his bedroom is still available. Griff shows up with flowers. I’d say that’s a no.

Diane asks if Andre understood them to be willing participants, but he says they never spoke before the procedure; when he first saw them, they were sedated and unconscious. Curtis asks if that didn’t send off any alarms, and what kind of doctor is he? Andre says a desperate one, on the verge of a breakthrough. Jordan says he sold his soul for it. Diane tells them they’re getting off track, and asks if he knew which was Jason and which was Andrew. He says he did. He was instructed to map Jason’s memories, and give them to Andrew. She asks how it affected Jason, and he says it didn’t. It’s like making a copy of your hand. You have the copy, but your hand is unaffected. Andrew’s memories were replaced, and he believes he’s lived Jason’s life.

Andre mapped Andrew’s memories as a baseline, and imprinted Jason’s over them. She asks if he has any idea why the backer wanted the procedure done on Andrew, but he says they never spoke directly. The backer’s goals and motives are a mystery.  They were taken away by the same people who brought them, and in in 2015 one of the subjects surfaced in Port Charles. Andre was expected to establish residence, and monitor him. Andrew goes nuts, grabbing Andre by the collar.

Alexis tells David that she did something bad and self-destructive, but she can’t talk with anyone about it. David says she can talk to him and he’ll keep it confidential. She says Julian’s attorney begged her to see Julian. He’d run afoul of another inmate, and his life was at risk. She was concerned enough to find his sister, but couldn’t get access to her. So, she found out who was paying her attorney’s bills, and blackmailed – no, extorted them. David says extortion suggests physical violence, and she says she would have given his name to a mobster, and he would have been buried in galoshes, or fed to the fishes, or whatever they do. She was prepared to use it for leverage. She says she’s compromised her ethics every time Julian was in her life. David asks why she did it then. Alexis tells him that even after all he’s done, she doesn’t want Julian dead. He asks if it’s because she’s a good, conscientious person, or does she still love him?

Griff gives Ava the flowers, and Julian asks if he’s putting in overtime loving thy neighbor. Griff says he’s no longer a priest, and Julian asks if that was before or after he started sleeping with Ava. Ava is like, hey! and he says sorry, but he finds it ironic that the man who gave them so many lectures on guilt and morality found his way to her bed. She says Griff saved her life, explaining about what happened at the Russian clinic. She tells Julian that Griff also rescued her last night. She did something not as dangerous, but equally impulsive, and he saved her. She and Griff have a meaningful relationship, and he needs to respect that. Julian apologizes, and holds his hand out, but Griff has no intention of shaking hands with his father’s killer. Julian takes this as his cue to leave, and says he’ll text Ava his contact info when he figures out where he’s staying. He tells them to enjoy their new relationship. Ava apologizes to Griff for Julian’s awkward sense of humor. Griff says he’s a murderer, and asks why he’s out of prison.

Andrew asks Andre if he pretended to treat his kid so he could watch him, but Andre says he didn’t pretend. He did everything in his power to help Jake. Diane asks if Andre knows who is who. He says he does, and she says, then tell them. They have the right to know. We do too! I say to the TV.

Andre says they won’t have much use for him once the truth is out, so he’s taking a last chance to explain his intentions. Alzheimer’s and dementia are soul destroying conditions that lay waste to lives. Sam interrupts, saying no one feels sorry for him, and calling him cruel and greedy; he’s acting like it’s no big deal. He took Andrew’s life away and sold it to the backer. Screw him and his intentions; tell them who is who, so they can be done. Andre says he was sent to Port Charles to monitor Andrew. YES!!!! Jason is Jason. Carly pokes Sonny, and Sam looks at her husband.

David apologizes for being intrusive, but Alexis says it wasn’t. She just opened up a vein. Being in AA, she wants to share all the time. He asks if she’s the reason Julian was released, and she says she’s a major factor. He says, despite the negative impact on her life? She tells him there were a few positives mixed in. He is Sam’s father, and also donated bone marrow to save her grandson’s life; she’ll always be grateful for that. She had some of her happiest months with him, but he was lying to her, so although she’s relieved, she has no intention of ever letting him in her life again. Julian appears, and says hello. =

Griff says Olivia-J changes her story, now Julian gets a new trial? Ava says he was coerced. She threatened his family, and he was never a willing accomplice. Griff says maybe not, but he was willing to have his father killed, and there will never be justice for that. Ava asks if they have to revisit that ugliness. Griff says he gets that she loves him, but he sees a man who keeps committing crimes and gets away with it. Ava asks if that isn’t where forgiveness comes in. You believe someone who’s damaged and flawed can be better and change. It doesn’t erase what they’ve done, but it heals them and yourself. Griff asks if that’s what he told her, and she says many times. He calls himself a hypocrite, saying he can’t find forgiveness in his heart for Julian.

Andrew asks how much Sonny is paying Andre? He’ll get away clean, and all he has to do is lie. Andre says he’s not lying. Andrew says he knows his life and memories, and asks why Sonny is turning on him. Sonny says he has nothing to do with this; he gives his word. Andrew says his word means nothing to him anymore. He has a life of his own, and wouldn’t work for him, so Sonny sold him out. Sonny says he has it wrong. Diane asks Andre if he has any proof, but there’s nothing he can access. Jordan asks an officer to take Andre to booking. Andre tells Andrew he’s truly sorry, and Andrew says he truly does not care. Andre is taken away, and Andrew tells Sam it’s time to go. Spinelli says he has proof. The longer this goes on, the more painful it becomes. He has proof that Andrew is Andrew.

Andrew says Spinelli is a hacker, and could create a fake data file. Spinelli says he could, but why chose to inflict more pain? Prolonging this just causes more distress and confusion. His goal is to establish the facts. What Andrew does with them is his business. Curtis suggests Andrew listen. At least he’ll know what he’s up against if he decides to fight. Spinelli takes out a picture of Andrew with his original face, dressed in a uniform. Spinelli says he commends him, calling him “sir.” He’s a Navy SEAL.

Ava tells Griff she’s not making excuses for Julian, but he’s spent his entire life living up to their father’s expectations. Victor was ruthless and brutal, and that was the code Julian was expected to live up to. He vacillated wildly between emulating his father and getting away from him. He’s not like Sonny; it doesn’t come naturally. He was playing a part, pleasing a man who’s long in the grave. Griff says that doesn’t bring his father back, and doesn’t make it any easier watching Julian walking around. He can’t be around it. She wonders if he’s asking her to choose between them.

Alexis introduces David to Julian. Julian asks if he’s treating her, and David says they’re just friends. He tells Alexis he’ll see her later, and jets. Julian asks how long they’ve been friends. She says Sam introduced them and he was at her house for Thanksgiving. She tells Julian this is his first and only warning; stop following her. Don’t make her get a restraining order. He says he’s not following her. He’s there to see a doctor.

Spinelli tells Andrew that he served with honor, has a distinguished service record, and multiple medals and commendations. He went AWOL, and there was no indication of trauma, no conflict, no reason; he simply vanished three months prior to Jason being lost and presumed dead. He thinks the backer might have thought it best to acquire him before Jason, but Diane says the road to hell is paved with speculation. He says he has no more facts, but Jordan does. Being the commissioner, the Navy file is at her disposal. She goes to the laptop.

And we have a match! She tells Andrew to see for himself. He says they’re electronic records, and Spinelli could have created them. Diane says they can issue hard copies, and can match them. In the meantime, she’ll move on the cold case files from 1996. Curtis says they both got screwed, but facts are facts. Waiting around for the hard copy isn’t changing anything. He’s a Navy SEAL, and it’s an impressive badge of honor. Andrew says it would help if could remember one thing about his old life, but he doesn’t. He just remembers Jason’s.

Ava tells Griff that she wasn’t expecting Julian’s release, but she’s happy he’s free, even if it’s conditional. She can’t turn her back on him. Griff isn’t asking her to. He’ll respect their relationship, but hopes she can respect his feelings. He doesn’t want any pretense or to make polite conversation. He doesn’t consent to anything Julian has done. Ava asks what it means for them, and he says she has to decide if she can be with him if he can’t be around Julian.

Julian tells Alexis that he needs to have a bone reset. He had no idea she’d be there, and she doesn’t need a restraining order. She says that remains to be seen. He’d thought they might be in a better place, but she says it’s better for her is she’s far away from him.

Curtis asks Jordan if she saw the look on Andrew’s face when he realized his entire life belonged to someone else. She says Andre has a lot to answer for. Sonny tells Diane to add a bonus to her bill. She tells Jason this one if free, but if he needs her in the future, her normal rate has gone way up. He thanks her for believing in him, and she says he was a pleasure to advocate for, not like some people, and looks at Sonny. She can count on him being reasonable. Spinelli tells Jason maybe he and Andrew should have a private conversation. Jason tells Spinelli he did great, but Spinelli says it doesn’t give him back five years, or console the man who unwittingly took his life. Jason thanks him, and he says it was an honor and a privilege. He hugs Jason until Jason finally says that’s enough. Jason thanks Carly and Sonny, telling them when he was planning his escape, he knew they’d be there for him. Carly hugs him, and Spinelli thinks libations are in order. Sonny asks if that means he wants a drink. Diane tells Jason he still needs to get some paperwork processed, and he tells her to go with them. Everyone leaves all happy.

Andrew asks Sam what she thinks. She says he’s a hero, but he says only on paper. He has no connection to Andrew Kane. Aw, he looks so sad.

Alexis is glad Julian was released, and says a second trial could conceivably go well. She hopes he uses the opportunity to turn his life around, but she can’t be involved. He says because of Sam and the grandchildren, there will always be a connection. Alexis says he’ll have to talk to Sam about that. She can’t participate; he’s worse than a fifth of vodka. David comes by, and asks if everything is okay. Alexis says she was just leaving, and asks him to text her about the restaurant he wants to go to. Julian tells David to be good to Alexis. David says that’s so inappropriate on so many levels, he wouldn’t know where to start, but Alexis is smart and independent, and can speak for herself.

Ava tells Griff that she has no intention of turning her back on either of them. It’s called compromise, a concept her brother never quite grasped. Griff says he’s heard of it. She says in these particular circumstances, it means she’ll arrange her life so there’s as little interaction as possible. She’ll see Julian on her own time. He says it might be more complicated than she realizes, but she says she’s a complicated woman; simplicity bores her. She can make it work, as long as she doesn’t lose him. He says he’s not going anywhere, and kisses her.

Elizabeth says Franco is quiet. He doesn’t have much to say. He’s disappointed. No one has ever accused Drew of being warm and fuzzy, but they managed to coexist. There’s no way Jason can grasp or care that he did crazy things because he had a brain tumor, or that Jake improved. He got through when no one else did. Elizabeth says Jake has confusion enough in Jake’s life, now she has to tall him who his father is. Under normal circumstances she’d have him talk to Andre, but she isn’t in a hurry. She tells Franco that Jason would never do anything to intentionally hurt their son. He’s not going to demand anything; he’ll wait until the time is right. She has faith in him when it comes to Jake.

Andrew says it’s like a slow-motion nightmare; like the game where you pull blocks out one by one, until the structure collapses. He’s found his long-lost twin, but the kicker is, he’s the one who’s lost. He’s not Jason Morgan. It’s the last block. Sam says that’s not true. He says she heard Diane; he can take everything. She says it doesn’t matter, but he says it does to him. Everything they’ve built can be taken. He wonders what they’re going to tell the kids. Sam calls him “Jason,” and is like, oops. He walks out, and tells Jason that he doesn’t care about the DNA; they’re not brothers. Jason tells Sam to take care of herself, and leaves.

On Monday, Franco tells Andre he needs a session, Robin asks Elizabeth not to do that, and Nelle has a Christmas present for Michael.

And once again – YESSSSS!!!!! I called it. It would have been pretty embarrassing had Steve Burton not been Jason, since I’ve been calling him that from the jump.

In Chicago, 10K and Lily look for the others. It’s foggy, and there are suds floating in the air. Foam party! They can barely see two feet in front of them. Lily says it’s FUBAR. 10K bayonets a zombie, and says they have to find Roberta. Everyone is wearing some kind of covering over their mouths.

Doc and Murphy are also in the mess, whacking zombies. They enter a cabin. It’s Sketchy and Skeezy in a barbershop, along with barber Sal. Sketchy says, what’s up, Doc? He’s wearing half-beard, and calls it avant-garde. Doc says they can’t stay; they have to find Roberta. Sketchy says if she still has a pulse, she’s his kind of gal. Doc reminds Murphy that he’s always said, never get out of the boat, but Murphy isn’t anxious to get back in the toxic sh*t either. Sketchy says nuclear fallout, plus chemicals, equals zombie frappe. Murphy thinks the barbershop is the last sliver of paradise, and Roberta is indestructible…ish. Sal asks them to leave their weapons in the box at the door. Murphy insists his cane is just a walking stick, but the barber isn’t fooled. Murphy says they’re getting off on the right foot. He sits in the chair. Doc watches at the window.

Roberta slogs through the sudsy gloom, calling for the others. She starts to feel weird and dizzy.

Murphy says he could die and go to heaven, and the two swindlers tell him, don’t say that, in tandem. Doc can’t find the right memory to remind him, but feels strongly that Sal’s face must have relevance. The barber says his mind is playing tricks, and Doc says, could be. There’s a discussion on the difference between telekinesis and telepathy. Doc says he’s done both on peyote, as well as teleporting. Murphy snores in the chair. Doc says they’re on a one-way trip to hell, and he still finds time for a nap. I’m on that same trip lately, and wish I could catch a nap. Sketchy and Skeevy keep cringing every time Sal puts the razor near Murphy’s throat.

Sketchy looks nervous as the barber shaves Murphy. Sal says his name is short for Salazar, and Doc asks if he’s Albanian. Sketchy and Skeezy hide behind one another. Sal says he’s Greek, and that they invented the sandwich. Sketchy says it was the Romans, so they could eat on the go while raping and pillaging. Murphy says they’re both wrong. It was invented by the fourth Earl of Sandwich because he didn’t want to leave the poker table. Sketchy talks about Thomas Crapper, and Doc says if it was the other way around, they could be eating a crapper and taking a sandwich. Everyone ponders this.

Sketchy says if looks could kill, Sal would knock them dead, and are obviously trying to warn Doc and Murphy. Doc says they’re like ships passing in the night; some harbor, and some torpedo and sink. He suddenly says, Albany, then, Albuquerque. He’ll figure it out. He gets all Zen and meditates, while Murphy asks Sal about baklava.

Above them in the attic, an odd, gigantic leprechaun-looking guy has a gun. Below them, zombies clamor in the basement. Is this like Sweeney Todd?

Roberta continues on. She coughs, and pushes suds out of her way. A zombie tries to grab her, but she mercies it. She sees someone in the dusk, and they run from her.

Murphy is impressed with Sal’s work. He wants to check it out from the back, and Sketchy tells Sal to grant a man his last request. Doc lights a joint. Sal reaches for the chair lever, and Sketchy and Skeevy start talking about a tanning bed Sal has in the back; it’s solar powered. Murphy wonders why they’re acting like everything is a matter of life or death. The dude upstairs looks down through a hole in the floor. He catches Sketchy’s eye, and wiggles his bushy eyebrows. Sketchy shows Murphy to the tanning bed, asking him to sign some papers for his protection, Murphy grabs the clipboard, tosses Sketchy out, and throws the papers on the bench, and. The top sheet has GET OUT! written on it, but he doesn’t see it.

Doc is still wondering where he knows Sal from. Skeezy tries to stop him from broaching the subject. Murphy opens the tanning bed, and we hear zombie noises. He closes it again. Doc gets a scalp massage, and says Sal has magic hands. Sketchy asks if he’s fresh off the boat, and he says by way of Detroit. Doc recalls his good times there. He starts talking about a guy he knew there named Tony Cueball, which was weird, since he had hair down to his knees. Sal says he’s never heard of him, as he tests the razor. Doc suddenly sits up, and says he knew it. It’s Tony. He knocks the wig off of Tony’s head, and he’s bald. Tony opens a trap door (it is like Sweeney Todd) , and Doc nearly falls into the crowd of zombies reaching up from downstairs. Sketchy and Skeevy fight with Tony, and the guy upstairs shoots an opening in the floor, and drops down. Tony tells them to say hello to his little friend. Sketchy and Skeevy say they tried to warn them, and Doc says, next time, try harder.

Outside, Roberta follows the stranger. He’s dressed in a protective suit and wears a helmet. She sees a giant stingray floating through the murky sky. It descends.

Tony tells his little friend, otherwise known as Tiny, to take it easy; they’ll kill them soon enough. Murphy thought they were friends, and Doc says he’s not even a barber. Tony says it’s never been personal. Doc talks about how Tony sucker punched him, stole everything he had, including his underwear, and left him to die. Tony says it was business. They hear something outside the door, and Tony says he’s going to shoot first, and no questions. Sketchy says if that’s who he thinks it is, he’ll want her alive. Doc says, mama brings the pain. Tony tells them they’re the chattiest bunch of marks in the apocalypse. Murphy is surprised it’s a robbery; he thought it was a bunch of sadists. Sketchy says they’re not sadists, they’re capitalists. The door opens, and 10K and Lily come through, saying don’t shoot; they’re unarmed. Murphy tells them that they look like they smell. 10K doesn’t feel good, and throws up, creating a domino effect, and everyone else throws up. It’s like that scene in Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. It goes through the floorboards, where the zombies lap it up. I’m totally grossed out, but then I laugh since, out of all the gory stuff, this is the thing that makes me go, eww!

Roberta follows the stranger. He signals for her to halt. A zombie walks through, but never notices them. She says she needs his help.

Tony says it’s still a robbery. Sketchy and Skeezy get Tony to drop his guns, and chaos ensues, with everyone fighting, and slipping and sliding on the… you know. The machine gun drops down through the trap door, and Doc says he’s too old for this sh*t. Tony is too. Tony says he needs to settle the last score. This is fate giving them a chance to reconcile the past. This time, he will kill him. Murphy comes out, telling everyone to run. The tanning bed zombie – an over tanned, tall blonde, whose skin is totally sagging on her bones – is out.  Sketchy and Skeezy get thrown toward her, and the three of them fall. She snaps at them, and Tiny pulls her off, stomping her head to a pulp. Tony tells Tiny to take that thing out. Skeezy says he’s been bitten, and wonders if he’s going to tan. Sketchy tells him he’s going to Z.

Roberta keeps following the stranger through the foam. She starts to falter, and keels over. She sees the black rainbow.

Skeezy doesn’t want to die. Sketchy says he might go Z, but he won’t die. Sketchy tells him the barbicide (the blue stuff they put the combs and brushes in) will kill anything. Skeevy chugs it down, and Sketchy tells him that he wasn’t supposed to drink it. Tiny and Tony draw their guns. Tony remembers Sketchy and Skeezy conning him once before, and wants to kill them. He doesn’t have enough bullets, so he suggests he and Tiny cut off their arms and legs, and throw them in the basement. Doc says to do them justice, but Tony insists cutting off arms and legs seems just. Skeevy and Sketchy start to argue, and Murphy says to do it the old-fashioned way. Tony wonders if he means dissolve them in acid. Murphy tells the con men that fate decided to screw them; the only game is survival of the fittest. Toss them out and let Darwin do the rest. Tony gives Sketchy a gun, and says there’s one in the chamber; make it count. Sketchy gets sniffley, and Sketchy grabs the gun and puts it to his own head. He threatens to be a mad Z, but Sketchy tells him that he has so much to live for in the next eight to ten minutes. Why don’t they heed Murphy’s advice about the Darwin thing? He’s talking about freedom, independence, choice, a man wrestling fate, riding on the wings of destiny. Tony likes his own idea better. Doc says sometimes the best weapon is upstairs, and asks for a hat.

They count the ballots. There’s a tie between limbs and exile. Tony says somebody didn’t vote. Everyone looks at each other. Doc asks Murphy if he voted, and Murphy says after the Gore/Bush election, it didn’t seem worth it.  

Two guys come in. While they’re getting sick, Sketchy steals a key. Everyone starts talking at once, explaining what’s happened, and Murphy asks if they want to vote. Sketchy wants to say goodbye to Skeezy. He grabs Skeezy, kissing him, transferring the key. Skeezy asks why he never said anything, and Sketchy says he didn’t think he had to. One of the men recognizes them, remembering when they crossed paths before, and how Skeezy bit him. He says he thinks this SOB bit him, and Sketchy says Skeezy bit him too, right here, by his heart. They throw Skeezy out the door. We hear him yelling, and Sketchy says, we get it, you’re dead.  The two men draw their guns, and says it’s an old-fashioned stickup.

Sketchy says whatever they do, please don’t put them in the basement. It’s cold and dark, and he can’t go down there. He’s scared of confined spaces. One of the thieves asks where the booty is – the basement? He thinks they really want to be there, and they order everyone downstairs. The basement door opens, and the zombies rush out. Operation Bitemark (minus Roberta) and Sketchy leave the others in the basement. We hear shooting, and Tony and Tiny come out, covered with blood. Tony says it’s time to end this. Everybody dies. Sketchy asks if he doesn’t want to make a speech or last words.

Someone is trying to get in the door, and the group moves over, leaving Tony and Tiny to face whatever comes through. The door bursts open, and the metal handle on the inside flies off, impaling Tony and Tiny. They slide to the floor. Sketchy asks Skeevy what took him so long, and accuses him of swallowing the key. Doc says they planned this the whole time, and Sketchy says they tried to cut him in, but he almost tanked the whole thing.  Murphy says they’re either masterminds or lying. Doc says he believes them when they’re lying, and he’s scared when they’re not. Murphy asks, all this for what? Sketchy says retirement. They’re taking over the barbershop. Doc says they need to find Roberta.

Roberta opens her eyes to her wasteland vision. The stranger tells her to get up. She has to get up. Roberta sits up, and he tells her she has to keep moving. She picks up her shield and the containers from the lab. Suddenly, the skies are clear, and she’s on a normal road. The man says everything depends on her, and she sees it’s Dr. Teller. He walks away, saying he won’t be there to help, and disappears. The others join her. Murphy says they’ve been looking for her. She leads them down the road. Murphy asks what happened to Sketchy and Skeevy, and Doc says they’re following their own dream. We see a Route 66 sign.

Back at the barbershop, Sketchy tells Skeezy, this is the life. He asks what they should do next, and Skeezy says, get a dog. He wonders if there are any left, and figures there are, somewhere. Sketchy looks at the new haircut Skeezy has given him. A half-haircut to match his beard. He says it’s perfect. The zombies downstairs make noise, and he stomps on the floor. He tells Skeezy they’re ready to kill the competition. Skeezy says they were born ready. They laugh like hyenas, and we see that the name of the shop is Curl Up & Dye.

General Hospital

Jason thanks Sonny for helping. Sonny suggests only talking to Obrecht if it helps. Jason says he has to talk to her, or go back to Russia. Sonny asks him to go over the report for his Puerto Rican holdings; he might have to go there to supervise the repair operation. Obrecht arrives, and Sonny introduces her to Jason.

In Havana, Jordan asks Andre, begs him, as someone he said he loved, to come back and make it right. Andre says he’ll almost certainly be thrown in prison if he admits his part, and he should do that because they used to love each other? He doesn’t know what’s more insulting, her trying to manipulate him, or that she’s so bad at it.

Sam asks Andrew if he figured out how he knows Oscar’s mother?

At the hospital, Kim is looking for the administrative offices, and introduces herself to Elizabeth. She’s going to be working there.

It’s almost time for the hearing, and Franco tells his lawyer there’s no reason to go over it again. He was attacked entirely without provocation. Joseph tells him that no one will testify for him, including his girlfriend.

Obrecht sips espresso, saying it’s delightful. She tells Sonny that she let Nathan know where she was going. If she’s met with an unforeseen accident, or vanishes, he’ll be at the top of the suspect list. Sonny says he only called her because Jason needs her help. She says she’s under the impression that his identity is still in question. Jason says that’s why he asked to see her. Faison shot him in 2012, and he woke up in Russia. He needs to know what happened. Obrecht says she’s not in contact with Faison, and Sonny asks if she has any idea why Faison came after him. She says he was never mentioned, but she can speculate. Jason Morgan was reputed to be a valuable asset, and there would be use for a man with his talents, providing he could be controlled. Sonny walks her out, telling Jason he’ll be back to take him to the hearing. He asks him to check the report in the meantime. After he’s gone, Jason comes out of the office and sees Spinelli. Spinelli says, it’s you.

At the MetroCourt, Carly tells Josslyn they need to have a talk. She’s mad, frustrated, and hurt, but mostly concerned. Josslyn took advantage of her trust. Josslyn says it was all for the good of Oscar’s project. Carly says, Oscar’s mysterious project. Was it important enough to betray her trust?

Oscar sees his mom at the hospital. He tells her sorry for the ambush, but she won’t talk to him about it at home. She tells him she’s given him a lot of slack since they moved to Port Charles. Oscar says that’s what he thought, that she gave him some freedom because she trusts him, but she’s keeping tabs on him. She says she wants to keep him safe. He says she didn’t even ask why he was at Andrew and Sam’s apartment. She doesn’t want to know. Oscar asks why? He reminds her of what happened when she saw Jason, and says if that guy is Drew, he’s someone important to her.

Andrew tells Sam that he thought about it, but her name doesn’t ring any bells. Maybe she just has  a familiar face. Sam doesn’t believe the kids were really doing research on a missing person. Speaking of which, she wonders if he’s heard from Curtis. Andrew says he’s following a lead on Andre. Hopefully, he’ll be able to prove once again he’s Jason Morgan.

Jordan apologizes. Curtis says Andre doesn’t have the guts to face what did. Andre scoffs at Curtis lecturing him on morals, but since he’s not going back, it’s not hurting Jordan’s case. Curtis says what matters is Jason, Sam, and their family – it has nothing to do with the three of them. Jordan says he has the chance to right a wrong for Jason, Andrew, and those love them. The man she knows would want to step up, take responsibility, and make amends. She tells him to be that man. Show her that she wasn’t wrong about him.

Spinelli stares at Jason. He says no doubt Jason is surprised to see him, since he made no overtures himself. He understands if Jason harbors a grudge. It was his program that led to everyone thinking his brother was him; it was his fault. Jason says Andrew looked like him because they’re twins. He’s not angry. Spinelli asks why in blazes didn’t he call? Jason says he knows Spinelli loves Sam, and Sam loves her husband. Spinelli says Andrew had passed all his tests, including winning Sam’s heart, so he was certain Jason had returned. He’d thought they fell in love again, and officiated their wedding. He asks Jason to forgive him. Jason is a little surprised that Spinelli was the officiant, but says it’s okay. Spinelli says he misidentified a stranger, gave him Jason’s life, married him to Jason’s wife, and it’s okay? Jason says he didn’t do it on purpose. Spinelli tells Jason he missed him. He grabs Jason, and hugs him.

Carly tells Josslyn she thought of every horrible thing that could have happened. She’s not being mean and petty; she’s her mother. Her children are the most precious thing to her, and she lost a son last year. Josslyn says she wasn’t thinking. She’s had a major brainstorm, and when Carly hears her out, she’ll understand she did the wrong thing for the right reasons. She knows she deserves punishment, but once she checks with Oscar, she can tell Carly what’s really going on. Carly says she’d better not regret it. In the meantime, Josslyn is to stay there and do her homework, and she’s telling everyone to keep an eye on her. Josslyn says she’s not going to let her down again. At least not today, or anytime soon. Carly says Josslyn really is her daughter.

Oscar says the way Kim reacted to Jason, he thought Andrew could be his father. Kim asks where the sudden interest in his father came from, and he says he’s been wondering his whole life. She told him to stop quizzing her. She says that Josslyn has been putting ideas in his head, and influencing him, not in a good way. Oscar tells her that he could have dropped it at any time, and she says then drop it. He says he has the right to know who his father is. Kim says she’s his mother, isn’t that enough? He says, maybe not. She says maybe she’s trying to protect him, and he says it might be better if he understood. She tells him they’ll talk later. She doesn’t want to be fired on her first day.

Franco is shocked that not one person will testify. He asks what they’re calling Jason these days, and Joseph tells him, John Doe, pending his official ID. Franco asks about Carly, but she paid his bail, and also despises Franco. Franco says his testimony alone will bury Jason in prison where he belongs. Elizabeth appears, and says no he won’t. Not without a fight from her.

Spinelli asks Jason to please accept his humble apologies for marrying his wife to his long-lost twin. Jason says she’s happy; there’s nothing to forgive. Spinelli says they know he’s her true soulmate. He has to go back to his old life, so he can reclaim everything. He has a lot at stake; his marriage, his family, and his finances that were used to purchase a corporation. Jason says he’s not breaking up Sam’s family. They have a little girl now. Spinelli calls her, the wee, but mighty, Emily Scout. Jason says she was named after his sister. Spinelli says he’s still Danny’s father, and his rights take precedence; he was there first. Jason says it doesn’t matter. He’s going to be prosecuted for assaulting Franco.

Franco asks to speak to Elizabeth alone. She says he promised to consider dropping it. Franco says he did, and he’s not. Elizabeth says Jason is missing five years. Franco says for all he knows, it’s an act. She says whoever he is, he believes he’s Jason, and reacted without thinking. Franco says he was thinking of choking him. He wants to know what’s going on, and why Elizabeth is taking his side.

Oscar finds Josslyn at the MetroCourt lobby, and asks if this seat is taken. She tells him that she’s saving it for the guy she’s seeing. He says sorry his mom ratted her out, and asks if she’s grounded. Josslyn thinks if she tells her mom the reason, she’d reconsider, but she didn’t feel right telling her without asking him first. He sees no reason not to, especially if it keeps them from being apart. Nothing is more important than seeing her. Josslyn says he’s important to her too, and now that that’s out of the way, did he ask his mom about Andrew? Oscar says he tried, but there was no straight answer. He doesn’t think Andrew is his father though. He and his mother didn’t recognize each other.

Sam tells Andrew they have to deal with childcare now that they’ll be working full time. She’s thinking about getting a nanny, but Andrew isn’t so sure about having a stranger in house. There’s a knock at the door, and he says they’re very popular lately. It’s Carly. She knows he feels betrayed, and it’s been tough on everyone. That’s why she came over. She thinks she knows someone who can clear it up – Kim. She knows Kim was at their place earlier, and on Thanksgiving, she mistook Jason for someone else; someone she knew in San Diego, a Navy SEAL. His name was Andrew Kane. Is he related to Erica too???

Jason explains to Spinelli after he went after Franco in a blind rage, and went after him again after the police came. Spinelli tells him it’s not prudent to commit a crime in the presence of police witnesses. That’s right. I would think the cops would be required to testify in this case. Jason says Diane wants him to plead insanity, but Franco violated Sam to get to him, and he doesn’t want to hear about the tumor. He’s going to do everything Diane wants him to do, except plead insanity. Diane arrives, and says the bad news is he attacked Franco, but if it goes to trial, he’ll either lose or his career will tank. She’s going to do something she doesn’t like to; put the victim on trial. She’ll have Sam, Michael, and Dante testify, and when she’s through, Jason will be acquitted, it will be trending on Twitter, and Franco will be put away. Sonny returns, and welcomes Spinelli back. Spinelli asks if he can come along for moral support, and Sonny says he can, but nothing weird, and keep his mouth shut. Diane sees Spinelli’s open laptop, and notices he’s been looking up Andrew Kane.

Franco asks Elizabeth what changed? She’d seemed genuinely concerned. She says she doesn’t want to see him hurt, but doesn’t want to send a guy to prison. She reminds Franco that he put people through hell, but he wasn’t in his right mind. Franco says if Jason’s tumor is bigger than his, he’ll drop the charges. Elizabeth says this isn’t about justice. Franco is afraid that he’s Jason, and sees him as threat to their relationship.

Josslyn tells Oscar that Andrew does have a different face, and maybe he didn’t resonate, but they did seem like strangers. Oscar wonders if he was awesome, why is his mother quiet when he talks about his dad? Josslyn says, back to drawing board, but Oscar says he does have one clue that tips the scales in Andrew’s favor.

Sam says that Kim seemed vaguely familiar. Carly says she could tell Andrew was important to her. Andrew-who-thinks-he’s-Jason is tired of trying to convince people he’s not Andrew. Carly says if she came clean, he might remember who he really is. He says he knows who he is, and his name is Jason Morgan. If Carly can’t believe that, she can go to hell. Alrighty then.

Franco’s not saying he’s threatened, but theoretically, there are two Jasons, and one Sam. What if the other decides he wants Elizabeth back? Elizabeth says she’s in love with him; nothing has changed that. Franco says he loves her too, and she asks him, please, for her sake, drop the charges. Joseph pops in, saying they need to get to the courthouse. Outside, Diane tells Joseph that she trusts he’ll keep it brief and to the point, and she’d like the earliest possible trial date. She doesn’t think it should be a problem, since he doesn’t have any witnesses. He tells her to save it for the courtroom. Franco says he’s ready.

Josslyn asks what kind of clue, and Oscar says maybe he’s reading too much into it. He asks if she remembers the CD, and says after they were done, he put it back where he found it. After his mom left for work, he had a hunch. The CD was gone, so he went to her room. He saw her DVD player had the headphones plugged in, even though she never uses them. He did some research, and found out the DVD player can play CDs. The CD was inside, and he thinks she listened to it when they got home. It doesn’t prove anything, but maybe she was emotional about seeing him again. He wonders why she can’t just tell him. She said she’s protecting him, but not from what. If she doesn’t tell him the truth, how will they know? Josslyn says she’s working on it. Oscar thought she might be, since she’s always two steps ahead.

Carly knows Andrew is upset, but two men believe they’re Jason, and have the same memories. He says, his memories. Carly says Kim might be able to tell them something, but Andrew says he’s not interested. Carly says she’s sorry he’s not Jason, but she knows he isn’t, and if he’s so certain he is, it’s not going to harm anything. He gets a text, and says Andre has been found.

Elizabeth tells Franco, please, and he says he’d like to drop the charges. All is forgiven. Diane tells Joseph that he dodged a bullet. Franco tells Jason he can say thank you, but Jason says he’s not grateful. Franco says Jason judges him, yet he’s a killer. Because he kills out of honor or code, makes him a good guy, and he’s bad. It’s so simple for him. Franco says he had a brain tumor; it’s science. He doesn’t need Jason to believe that he was physically and mentally unable to make the right decisions. He needs to let it go, make peace. His twin managed to. Maybe Jason should follow his example.

On the phone, Obrecht tells Faison she just came from a meeting with Sonny and a man who says he’s Jason. They’re looking for him, and her advice is to run.

Josslyn tells Oscar there’s a little miracle called DNA. He doesn’t think Andrew would agree. He still thinks he’s Jason, and doesn’t remember. She says it doesn’t matter; they can do it anyway. She takes a plastic bag out of her purse. There’s a glass inside, and she tells Oscar it’s a glass his maybe daddy drank from.

Elizabeth says they can hate each other, and still agree Franco did the right thing. Diane says a trial wouldn’t have gone well for him. Franco tells Elizabeth that Diane is the one who got him acquitted, and now she thinks he’s the bad guy. Elizabeth says she’s proud of him, and amazed. He says he loves her, and can’t say no to her. She tells him that she loves him, and one day people will see the Franco she does; a good and honest man.
