Fear the Walking Dead

A tumbleweed blows by. Alicia marches down a road leading a small group of people. She hears, Padre, and sees a zombie up ahead. She asks what they said, and tells them, I’m talking to you. There’s a high pitched sound that makes everyone cover their ears. Alicia runs after the figure, and hears, Padre, again. The figure turns around, and it’s the zombie who bit her. He attacks her, and gets her on the ground. She hears, follow me… She opens her eyes, and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy is blasting so loud, the chandelier is rocking. She realizes she has earplugs in, and takes them out. She grabs her steampunk arm, and heads downstairs. She asks if someone is there, and sees the door banging open and shut. She closes and locks it. She sees bloody footprints, and follows them. A man sitting at a piano, and she yells at him to turn the music off. She tries reaching for the volume control, but it’s on a shelf that’s too high for her. The zombie making the footprints comes up behind the man, and Alicia yells to him, then knocks the stereo off the shelf. He fights the zombie, and stabs it in the eyeball. He asks Alicia, what did you do? and she passes out. He picks up the broken stereo, and says, what did you do?

Alicia wakes up, and sees the man back at the piano. She asks how she got here, but he doesn’t turn around. She gets up, and says she’s talking to him. She taps his shoulder with her not-really-an-arm, and he whips around. He says, easy, and she asks if he can hear her. He says, no. He hasn’t heard a thing in months. She asks, what’s going on? How did she get here? He tells her, speak slower so he can read her lips, and she asks, how long has she been out? He says, two days, and she asks how she got here. He says he brought her here. He was coming back from a food run, and found her passed out in a barn two miles north. He checked her, and saw what was left of her arm. That’s quite a statement. She says she got bit, and wasn’t going to let him take it. He says he figured that was why, and that she would have turned by now. It didn’t look infected, but she was still burning up. Why is she idling so hot; is she sick? She says, that’s not it, and she wasn’t in a barn. She remembers she was on her way back to the people she was staying with. She must have passed out, but she wasn’t in a barn. A girl saved her. He says, maybe the girl got her to the barn, and asks what she’s running from. She says she appreciates his help, but she has to go. People are counting on her. He says, her dad? She said, padre. She says she must have been confused, and starts to go, but he says, hold on. She broke his stereo. She can at least help him fix it. She says she has to go, but bumps into the doorframe, and he says, she’s in no shape to go anywhere. He introduces himself as Paul, and says, she never answered his question about her fever. He hands her a bottle of medication, and she says, it’s a long story. He says, she can do better than that. She’s still breathing because of him. She says she returned the favor. He was drawing the zombies with the loud music. He says, there’s a lock on the door, and the entire house is soundproofed. She says she thought he couldn’t hear, and he says, when Beethoven was going deaf, he destroyed every piano by pounding on it. Just because you can’t hear the music, doesn’t mean you can’t feel it. She points at some bagpipes, and asks, what about those? but he says he doesn’t play them. She hears a horse outside, and asks him to hide her. He can’t know she’s here. Paul asks, who is he? There’s a knock at the door, and Paul opens it to Arno, who’s wearing his mask. Paul asks if there’s something he can help with, and Arno says, he’s looking for somebody. Paul says he can’t hear sh*t. Arno will have to show his face, but there’s been nothing dangerous in the wind for weeks. Arno takes off his mask, and says he’s looking for someone; a woman. Paul says he’s out of luck. There’s no one here but him. Zombies are reaching through a tarp over a cage in the back of a wagon, and Paul asks, what’s that? but Arno ignores him, walking past him and inside, along with his men. Paul tells Arno that he didn’t say he could come in, and Arno picks up the bottle of medication, asking if Paul is sick. Paul tells them to get out of his house, and Arno says, the girl he’s looking for gets fevers. She’s been bitten, and lost part of her arm, but she didn’t turn. She’s still walking around. Paul says he ain’t seen her, and Arno says, she’s not considerate. She has a habit of getting people hurt. Paul asks what Arno wants with her, and Arno says, that’s between them. He plays a scale on the piano, but hits a dead key. He asks Paul what the problem is, and we see the problem is Alicia hiding inside the piano, but Paul says they’re broken. Arno hits them a few times and says, all right then. If Paul sees her, give him a call. He gives Paul a walkie, and looks at a photo on his way out. He says, a deaf musician; ain’t that a bitch. He tells Paul that he appreciates his time, and leaves. Paul watches as the Stalkers drive their wagons off.

Paul makes something on the stove, and asks Alicia what Arno wants with her. Is it true what he said? Is she getting folks hurt? She says, they lived in the same place. Things went bad, and he blamed her. He asks if Arno is right to blame her, and she says, they had to abandon the place, since the blast had compromised the structure. He asks, where is that? and serves her a bowl of whatever he’s making. He says she seems nice enough to him. Then again, he may just be grateful for the company. She takes a bite, and he sees her face, and says, she’s never had haggis. The Scottish always kept cans in the pantry. He had the same reaction when he first tried it, but he grew to like it. When he was scavenging, he was surprised at how easy it was to find. Grocery stores were picked clean save for that stuff. Alicia says, Rowan. Is she…? He says, his wife, and she asks, what happened? He says, the bombs did. He lost her and what was left of his hearing the same day. Alicia says she’s sorry, and he says, so is he. He’s leaving at dawn to find a stereo. She says she really does have to go, but he says, she can’t leave. She says she’s not the person he thinks she is, but he says she has to be. Why is she in such a hurry? She tells him, what Arno said is true. People got hurt, and she doesn’t want that to happen to him. Paul asks, what happened? Why is that guy after her? She says, it doesn’t matter, and he asks, what does? She says, lives are at stake, and he says, so is his. If she leaves him without finding a stereo, he’s as good as dead. Help him get what he wants, and he’ll make sure she gets back in one piece. She says she doesn’t know where to find a stereo, but he says he does.

They go to a concert hall, and Paul asks how Alicia wound up bit. She says, the same way most people do; trying to get out of a bad situation. He asks if it has something to do with Padre. She was talking about it in her dreams. It must have meant something. She says, it’s a place she thought she could take everyone where they would be safe, and he says, and people died along the way. That’s why Arno is after her? What’s the new plan? She says, there’s a new place, or there will be. The person running it is trying hard to keep people out. She tried to get Arno and his people to fight with them. He says, it looks like she didn’t convince them, and she tells him, he said she shouldn’t lead anyone. He’s probably right. Paul says, so it didn’t work out. Big deal. She tried. She says, people died, but he says, she didn’t put a gun to their head and force them to follow her. They followed her for a reason. She says, she thought it was the way to go, and he says, and she did. Why beat herself up about it? Beethoven’s Ninth Concerto was the last concert they had here. When it premiered, Beethoven said he couldn’t conduct it himself because he was deaf. When it ended, the house went nuts and gave him a standing ovation. The story goes, because he was unaware of it, a young contralto spun Beethoven around, so he could see how they loved what they’d heard. Alicia asks what instrument Paul played, and he says, piano. Rowan played the violin. He got her the bagpipes for her 40th birthday, and learned to play them himself, part of his Scottish education. It was her dream to play Ode to Joy on the bagpipes, but she never played it. His hearing had started going, and she thought he would hear it because the bagpipes are so loud. Alicia asks, why didn’t she play it? and Paul says, he told her that’s not how it’s meant to be played, but really, he was so damn mad at the world going quiet, he took it out on her. Alicia says, he doesn’t have to go back and live alone, but he says, what else is he going to do? She says, come with her and her friends. The more people they have, the sooner they can take that place. She hears a horse, and he says, what’s wrong? She tells him, wait here, and goes outside. Why she reveals herself in this way is beyond me, but she sees Arno’s mini convoy, and a gun is cocked near her head. Arno says he knew he would find her here, and she says, she’s not alone. He says he figured that too, and yells, come out. That’s right, he can’t hear them. He looks at Alicia and shakes his head, saying, she never learns. Did she promise him somewhere safe to go? She says she thought Padre would work, and he says, tell them. One of his men removes the tarp from the cage, and reveals the zombie. She tells Arno that he’s insane, but he says, she’s the one who asked them to find Vazquez so he could lead them. How’d that go? She says, he should put them to rest, and he says he was going to, but he thought it would be more fun to let them punish her for what she did. His men drag her to the wagon.

Arno clanks Alicia’s arm part against the cage bars, and says, they’re dead because she said she knew the way. It seems only fair that she join them. She’s already halfway there. He unlocks the cage, when Paul shoots him in the hand. It’s too late though, and the zombies are released. Paul shoots, and Alicia grabs her arm part. Arno is like, waah, my hand! and Paul runs out of bullets. As he struggles to put more in the gun, he drops the stereo and it breaks. Alicia gets in a vehicle, and calls to him. He hesitates getting in, and says, he can fix it. She grabs him, and pulls him in, but he says he has to get it back. She says, it’s just a stereo, and he says, it’s the only thing that can drown it out; her voice. She was on her way back when it happened. She was so scared, and he tried to calm her. He told her it would be okay, and to stay on the radio with him. Then the warhead came crashing down with a horrible high-pitched sound while she screamed. Then everything went quiet. The last thing he ever heard was her scream; his Rowan. He couldn’t go on hearing it. Alicia couldn’t possibly understand. Alicia says she can, and he says, how? She says she has a voice she can’t get rid of either; the one from her dream. He says, what dream? and she says the one she’s had for months, that she keeps having. She thought Padre was a place she could take everyone. The first time she had the dream was after she got bit. She didn’t know if she’d cut off her arm in time. She was out for days, and when her fever was spiking, she had the dream; the most vivid dream she’d ever had. Paul says, about what? and she says, a walker; she was following it. We see her running, and she says, not just her, all of them too. She finally caught up, and the walker turned around. It was the same walker that bit her. He talked to her, and said, Padre, but it wasn’t his voice. He told her to follow him to Padre, so she did, or it’s what she’s been trying to do. She made all these people believe in her. She told them that she knew what she was doing and where she was going, and she didn’t. It was just a dream. He says, they must have had a reason, and she says, they died because of her. Now that voice is all she can hear every time she closes her eyes; every time she manages to fall asleep. He asks if she’s serious about what she said to him; him coming with her and helping with the place she’s trying take over. He’d like to take her up on it. She asks, why? and he says, something tells him there’s a reason he came across her. Maybe they can help each other drown out what they don’t want to hear. Alicia says she couldn’t get him a stereo, and he says, he’s got one right here, but she tells him, stay away. She can’t let him get hurt. Arno won’t stop until she’s dead. He’ll go to Paul’s house and hurt him. Paul says, that’s why he needs to be ready for Arno. Does she trust him? She nods, and he takes out the walkie. He says, if Arno is listening, if Arno can hear him, he’s sorry about the mishap earlier. Alicia turned on him too. The problem Arno has, Paul is ready to help solve. Come to his house after dark.

Paul sets up the stereo (which I guess he fixed?) and Alicia says, he doesn’t have to. He says, the sooner he helps her take out Arno, the sooner she can get back and stop punishing herself for what’s not her fault. She says, even with Arno gone, the voice won’t go. He says, maybe not, but maybe it’s not meant to be silenced. She tells him, but he said… and he says, he told her, it would drown out what they didn’t want to hear, but maybe she should listen. His old man was a helluva pianist; he was known as Texas Gershwin. His brother followed in their father’s footsteps, and Paul started taking lessons. He wanted to be like his father and brother, but when he did, the teacher would smack his hands with a yardstick. She asks, why? and he says, nobody makes great music imitating others. It has to come from you. Maybe that’s why it didn’t work before. Alicia thought somebody else was telling her what to do. Maybe the voice is her; so listen to it. If she doesn’t, she might regret it. He looks at the bagpipes, and says he owes it to himself and anyone who wants his help. Arno yells that he knows they’re in there, and Alicia tells Paul, they’re here. He gives her earplugs to put in, and says, it’s going to get loud. Arno and his man knock on the windows, and Arno whistles. He says he know Alicia is in there. Where is she? Come out. Paul hooks up the stereo. Arno tries the door, finds it locked, and sighs. He says, come out before she gets someone else hurt. Suddenly, Ode to Joy starts blasting, and Paul shoots at them. No surprise, zombies pop out of everywhere. Arno yells for his men to fall back, but it’s too late. Paul shoots the zombies wandering into the house until he runs out of bullets. Alicia starts smashing zombie heads with her pseudo arm, and Paul whacks them with whatever he can find. Alicia says, Arno is coming in through the back, and sure enough, they sneak in. Paul whacks one in the head with a guitar, but Alicia says, there are too many. I’m not quite sure if she’s referring to the zombies or Arno’s guys, or both. Arno kills off some zombies, and Paul grabs the bagpipes. The electricity goes out, and Arno points his gun at Paul. A zombie grabs Arno, but he gets off a shot anyway, hitting Paul. Alicia grabs Paul, and hustles him into another room. She looks at his wound, and tells him, it’s going to be okay. Where they’re going, they have medical supplies. He says, it’s too late, but she says, it’s not; they’ll get out. He says, she will, and she says she’s not leaving without him. He laughs, and says she doesn’t have a choice. Alicia says he’s in this position because of her. She said she’d take him somewhere safe… He says he would have followed her anyway, and so will they. Her friends… her people. What her dream is telling her is that they’re the ones she’d meant to lead. She tries to get him to come, but he says she just needs to believe in what she’s capable of. She says she doubted someone she cared about, and won’t make that mistake again. Zombies start to scrabble at the door, and they hear gunshots. He tells her to go, but she says she won’t make it past Arno. He says, she will if they can’t hear her. Arno knocks at the door, and says, she can’t stay in there forever. Paul starts to play Ode to Joy on the bagpipes, and Alicia cuts out the back. Paul sees her running past through the window, and Arno comes in. He points his gun at Paul, who doesn’t even turn around, although there are tears in his eyes. Alicia runs down the road through the woods as we hear the gunshot. She runs until she sees a hooded, masked little girl. She stops, and says, you again? Are you okay? The girl says she will be, and Alicia lies down in the road. The girl says, if you can help me, maybe I can help you. Alicia closes her eyes.

Alicia walks in a windy, ochre landscape. She sees a figure in the distance, and says, hey. A man’s voice says, Padre, but as she gets closer, she sees it’s a woman. A woman’s voice says, Padre. Follow me. She stops, and the figure turns. It’s her, and she tells herself, Padre. Follow me. Behind her are a group of people, including the little masked girl. Alicia says, Morgan… Morgan says, Alicia. Wake up. She opens her eyes.  

Morgan says, it’s okay. She’s all right. She asks how long she was out, and he says she showed up last night, but collapsed before they could get her inside. He puts a cool cloth on her forehead, and says, they’ve got to keep her fever down. She says, where is she? and he asks, who? She says, that girl; the one who brought her here. He says, she was alone… What is it? Is she all right? How did it go with Arno? Did she convince him to join them? She says she’s sorry. She knows they don’t have enough people to take on Victor. He says, they’ll find another way, and she says she thinks she has one.

Morgan asks why she thought a walker could lead them to Padre. She’s not too much on a straight answer to a straight question. She says she had a dream when she was in the bunker after she’d cut her arm off. The fever was at its worst, and she heard a voice. She thought it was saying a walker would lead them, and she thought it was coming from Padre. He asks who it was coming from, and she says, herself. Her mom, Nick, and Morgan all had a dream, but she never stopped to listen to her own voice. She is now. He asks where she’s going, and she says, the bunker has a transmitter. She doesn’t think Padre even exists, but a lot of people are looking for it, or a place like it. He says, she can’t lead them to a place that doesn’t exist, but she says she can lead people to them. They can become Padre, and give them what they want; a safe place to live. And that’s how they’ll take the tower. Morgan asks if she wants him to come, but she says she needs him to stay. When she comes back, they’ll make their move. He says, then he’ll be ready when she gets back, but she should rest. She says she can’t. Just be ready. She leaves.

Stalker Sage drives the wagon, the cage now empty except for a whining Arno. Sage stops the wagon, and Arno wails that he’s going to die if his hand isn’t treated. Sage says, they don’t have time, and tells Arno to look. Arno gets out, and they stand by the edge of a canyon filled with zombies. Sage says, the herd must have fell in. They’ve been stewing down there for months. Arno asks, how many? and Sage says, too many. If one of them gets out, they won’t be going anywhere. Arno says, we need to take the tower for ourselves.  

Next time, Morgan needs to protect the sub, Charlie gets herself trapped, June says Howard is a monster, and it looks like Charlie will be having a love interest (see below).

The Walking Dead

In a voiceover, Negan says he had a deal with Carol. She said if he did this for her, he would be thought of differently. So he disappeared, and wore a flesh mask. It was sick as all hell, but he gained Alpha’s trust. He found a way to steal her kid, and brought Alpha’s head back. He helped take out Beta and the horde, but nothing changed the way Maggie sees him. He understands; he really does. Some things can’t be forgotten.

Maggie walks with her son Hershel through Alexandria, and they chat. She asks if he remembers the song they used to sing, and he sings You Are My Sunshine. Negan looks at them, but Maggie ignores him, saying good morning to the woman working alongside him. Carol watches from the window.

Negan sees Carol in the woods, carrying a dead rabbit she’s trapped. He walks with her, and thanks her for getting him the hell out of Dodge. Things with Maggie are tense. He doesn’t mind lay low Negan, but there’s only so far he can go to get out of her way. He’s thinking maybe Carol could put in a word for him. At least get the ball rolling. Given their recent history, he figures she owes him that much. He follows her to a cabin outside of the town, and he asks if she knows this place. She says, mm-hmm, and goes inside. He says he sees he’s moved in, and she says, Daryl helped. The council voted to banish him. What he wants isn’t going to happen, and she knows it’s not what she promised, but given their less recent history, it’s better than he deserves. He says, it is what it is. If she doesn’t mind him asking, is it that the council banished him, or is it more like Carol is seizing the reins? She smiles, and says the rabbit is for him.

Negan looks into the fire, and has a drink. He hears, little pig, little pig, let me in, and sees himself sitting in a chair with his bat Lucille. He turns away, but illusion Negan says, it’s all right. He knows Negan can hear him loud and clear. Nobody likes to hear an I told you so. He must be a bit masochistic. The sad part isn’t that he ended up there. Face it. It could be a helluva lot worse. The sad part is, he thought for a second those folks would see him for anything except who he truly is… which is me. He’s a clown, a cultive personality with no cult. Negan can call him names, but he wants Negan to admit that he got further with a kind word and Lucille than just a kind word. It’s time to face the facts, old man. He’s nothing without her. Negan smashes the glass against the now empty chair.

We see the tree where the stained glass panels hang, looking a little worse for the wear. Negan remembers telling Rick that Carl said they didn’t have to be fighting, and Rick beating him down near the tree. He flashes back to being in his cell, telling Michonne that he needs to see her, and Michonne saying they don’t have his bat. He’s brought a shovel with him, and starts digging near the tree. He sees a zombie in the distance, shakes his head, and keeps digging. He digs in another spot, and another, and pretty soon, the area is full of holes. The zombie is closer, and he digs some more. He finally hits something, and scrapes away the dirt. He smiles, and pulls out Lucille, turning the bat in his hands.

Twelve years earlier. Craven from the Valaks Vipers biker gang walks over to a guy tied to a chair wearing a hood. Craven removes the hood, and the man is a younger Negan. Negan says Craven has to let him go. His wife has cancer and needs that. Craven  takes an IV bag out of a cooler filled with the medicine, and takes a bag out. Negan says, keeping him here, kills him and her, and Craven says he knows; Negan told him. His heart goes out to Negan. He can’t imagine what Negan is going through, just wondering if she’s ever going to get her treatment. He handles the bag, and says they drove out to where Negan told them the doctors gave him the stuff, but they weren’t there. Negan says it’s not his fault. He told them, the doctors move around, but Craven says, they were never there. It was so overgrown, they couldn’t get the pick-up down the road. He can’t get this stuff just anywhere; somebody took care of this for a long time, and probably has a lot of other stuff too. Tell him where he got it, and Negan can take it to his wife. Otherwise, he’ll pour it in the toilet, and make Negan watch. He punches Negan in the mouth, and Negan says, please put it back in the cooler. He’ll tell Craven what he wants to know; please keep it safe. He tells Craven, the medical part is true, and Craven says, they have a facility, right? and Negan says, they have a stockpile. Craven asks where they keep the drugs, and Negan says he doesn’t know where the stuff came from, but he’d been tracking them for weeks. He found them…

Two or three days ago. Negan hides behind a tree in the woods, holding a gun. He takes a quick look at a couple of trailers, then jumps out. He startles a man outside, and sees another one on the roof of a trailer. He says he doesn’t want to shoot, but he will, and the man says, take it easy. Negan’s vision is getting blurry, and the man says, don’t! A woman hits Negan over the head, knocking him out, and the man says she didn’t have to do that. (FYI, it’s Laura who will become one of the Saviors later.)

Negan is handcuffed to a chair inside the trailer. He tells the man that his name is Negan, and the man says he’s Franklin. Franklin takes out a key, and asks if they’re going to have any problems. Negan says, no sir, no problems, and Franklin uncuffs him. He gives Negan some pasta, and Negan wolfs it down. Franklin says, Negan is exhausted, add malnutrition, and no wonder a guy like him is in the state he’s in. He’s trying to rob a bunch of doctors with an empty belly. Negan says his wife has cancer. She was under treatment when the world went to sh*t. They’ve been trying to keep it going. Franklin asks if Negan is a doctor, and Negan says he’s a high school gym teacher. Franklin asks what he means by keep it going, and Negan says the doctor gave him a calendar of what was needed when. All he had to do was find it, and figured out how to do infusions. Franklin says, a doctor taught Negan how to give chemo? and Negan says, it’s not complicated, unless something goes wrong. Franklin asks if something went wrong, and Negan says, yeah, you could say that.   

Six weeks earlier. Negan goes to the refrigerator, and takes out a bag. His wife Lucille digs in a box, and says she’s trying to figure out what James Bond movie to watch. He tells her, the generator makes too much noise, and we hear a zombie outside. She says he’ll have to kill it, but he says if he turns the generator off, they lose interest; they always do. He puts two IV bags in the freezer, along with a thermometer. He goes outside to turn on the generator, but sees a zombie clamoring at the fence.

Back in the house, Negan reads out loud from Pride and Prejudice, and tells Lucille, this book sucks; he can’t do it. She says he won’t let her watch James Bond, so read. We hear the zombie again, and she says he’s got to take care of it. Outside, the zombie bangs on the house, and Negan comes up behind it, but as soon as it sees him, it grabs him. He swings a hammer at it, but it gets the better of him, and pins him against the house, snapping at him. He stabs it in the eye, but the knife doesn’t go deep enough to even slow it down. He says, seriously? and a shot rings out, the zombie slumping to the ground. Lucille stands there holding a gun, and still attached to her IV. He asks if she’s all right, and she tells him, turn the generator on so she can watch a movie. She goes back inside.

Negan tries to syphon gas out of a car, but gets nothing. He goes inside the car, and looks around. He finds a pouch, looks in it, and smiles.

Negan asks his wife how she’s doing, and she says, good. He says he’s got something for her. He found a stash. It’s a little dried out, but it will help with her nausea. She says he has to go out further every time, and he says, they need gas, and the place has been picked over. That’s what’s keeping them safe; there’s nothing there anyone wants. She wonders about reaching out to other people, but he says, it’s too dangerous out there. She says, that’s her point, and he says, they have three treatments left. That’s it. When they get her strength up, he’ll strap her to his motorcycle, and they’ll go wherever she wants; wherever she dreams up. He promises.

They lie in bed, and Negan sings You Are So Beautiful to her. We see them goofing around in wigs, and him giving her treatments. A zombie makes noise outside, and Negan says, dammit. She says, it’s not like killing a person. It’s kind of like killing an animal; don’t let it bother him. He says, it doesn’t. He’s just worried he’ll get used to it. She says, okay, then turn the generator on. He continues to eat, and asks, how’s her dinner? She says, really good. If she’d known dog food could taste like this, she would have been eating that sh*t all along. He laughs, and she tells him, happy anniversary, handing him a gift bag. He asks if she actually knows what day it is, and she says, no, but they had one coming up. He takes out a leather jacket, and says, holy sh*t. Where did she get this? She says, it was in the crawlspace the whole time. She was so mad that she couldn’t return it, she hid it. She’s sorry. If she’d known all this was going to happen, she wouldn’t have cared about the stupid credit card. He says he knows, but he doesn’t deserve anything from her. She shouldn’t be apologizing to him. He should be apologizing to her, for the man he was, and the pain he put her through… He lies awake at night wondering how he got so lucky she stuck with him. She laughs, and sits on his lap. She says she stuck with him because she’s always seen the man he is now, even when he wasn’t. And that a-hole really had it coming. He says, yes ma’am, and she suggests they go to bed. He says, no, and she asks if he has to go to work tomorrow. He asks if she’s sure she’s okay, and she kisses him.

They lie in each other’s arms, and Negan wakes to the sound of dripping. He jumps out of bed, and says, no! He runs to the refrigerator, and opens the freezer. Water pours out, and he looks at the thermometer, which is in the Fahrenheit 40s.

He looks at a map, and asks if she remembers a guy and his family who came through. Their kid had leukemia, and they were looking for a group of doctors who travel around. He showed Negan his map, and said they travel the same route, and make the same stops every time. He thinks he knows where they are. If he leaves now, he could catch them. She says, they could be dead, and even if he finds them, he has nothing to barter with. He starts to argue, and she says, stop. She has something to tell him.

Seven months earlier. Normal life is still happening. Negan is playing video games, and says, don’t be a p*ssy. You’ve got to take it. Lucille comes in, and asks if he’s playing with children, and he says they’re mostly over ten. She looks at the credit card bill, and says please don’t tell her that he spent $600 on this Happy Days bullsh*t. He says he’s got two leads, one of which is going to pay a lot. He’s celebrating early. She says he’s telling her about leads, but he can’t be a gym teacher anymore. He’s being charged with misdemeanor assault, and he refuses to go back to school. Tell her all about the job that’s going to pay for his legal bills. He doesn’t say anything, and she says she’s returning the jacket. He says he threw the receipt away.

We see Lucille on the phone with a friend, who says talks about it being cute when he was younger, but not now. Lucille says, it feels wrong to give up on him. He wasn’t in a good space. He loved his job and the kids. The friend says he put someone in the hospital, and Lucille says, that a-hole had it coming.

Negan and Lucille have dinner in silence. He asks how the food is, and she says, good. Did he do something different? He says he used rosemary instead of oregano, and a white wine reduction for the chicken sauce. She tells him that she has a 2:15 appointment tomorrow, and he asks, what appointment? She says she’s getting an MRI, and needs him to drive her home. He says he can’t tomorrow. He has a meeting with his probation officer. She’ll probably have to sit for three hours for them to tell her everything is fine anyway.

Lucille sits in the waiting room, and thinks about hearing, if it’s caught early on. She stares into space, and the doctor asks if she has someone to drive her home.

She gets in her car, and calls Negan, but gets voicemail. She tries calling her friend Janine, and the call also goes to voicemail. She calls the probation officer, and says, he should be there. He said his appointment was at 3; he should have been there 20 minutes ago. The parole officer says, sorry. He doesn’t know what to tell her. He’s not on the calendar for another two weeks. She cries quietly, and looks at her phone, she sees the call to Negan and Janine both went to voicemail at the same time, and realizes they’re seeing one another. She slams phone down, and pulls out, blasting rock and roll. I think AC/DC.

Lucille sits at home with a gun by her side. Negan comes in, and asks, what’s going on? What is it? Her hand moves slightly on the gun, but she throws cancer treatment pamphlets on to the table instead. She says she’s got cancer.

Back to where we were before, and Negan says, she knew about them the whole time? Just so she knows, he broke up with her as soon as they got the diagnosis. He never saw or talked to her again. He cries, and she says she knows. He says he doesn’t understand why she’s telling him now, and she says she wants him to know he made up for it. If he really wants to help her, just stay. He says they’re so close. It can work; the doctors said it could work. She says, no, they didn’t. Now it’s time for him to go on without her. Live life for her. Stay. He says, no. They’re not giving up. They’ve made it this far, and they’re going to see it through. He’s going to find the doctors, and they’re going to kick the cancer out of her. They’re not giving up. Not ever. She kisses him, and I’m feeling very sad.

About six weeks ago. Negan tells Franklin, he scavenged along the way, but it was worse than they thought. Then they had a problem with the dead, and here he is. Franklin says he sent his daughter Laura to the warehouse to see if they have what he needs. Laura comes in with a cooler, and says they had it all. Negan tells them, he doesn’t know what to say, and Franklin says they have a lot, and just want to help.

Outside, Negan says he came threatening their lives, and they patched him up, and gave him the first decent meal he’s had in weeks. They gave him everything he asked for, and haven’t asked for anything in return. Franklin says, what goes around, comes around, and Laura asks if the gun is Negan’s only weapon. He says he broke his knife on the way there, and she says, take this, handing him the bat. He says, the bat she hit him with? Damn, that girl packs a wallop.  

Craven tells Negan, enough. Tell him where he got the drugs. All Negan has done is told one stupid pointless story after another. First, he wouldn’t talk, now he’s begging Negan to shut up. Storytime is over. Tell him where he got the drugs, or he’s going to pull the trigger. Then Negan’s wife dies, and she’ll think he ran out on her. If Negan doesn’t start talking, he swears to God… Negan says bring him his map. Another man unties Negan’s hands, and he circles a spot on the map. Craven asks, what about security? and Negan says, it’s light. It’s just a guy and his daughter. The guards on top of the RVs are decoys, and there could be a couple of others, but they have no guns. Craven says, if they’re not there for literally any reason, he’ll come back and kill Negan, no questions asked. He tells the other guy to keep Negan locked in the storage room.  

Negan is told he’s good to go. He grabs the cooler, and runs outside to his bike. I feel sick. The trailer is in the parking lot, and Negan hears Laura saying, no! Stop! He gets on his bike, and rides out, taking one last look. There’s a scream from the trailer.

Negan arrive back home, and calls for Lucille. He heads for the bedroom, but the door is closed, and written on it is, please don’t leave me like this, with a heart. He opens the door, and hears zombie noises. He looks at the bed and cries. Lucille has restrained herself, and there’s a plastic bag tied on her head. She makes zombie gurgles, and reaches her free hand toward him. He takes out the bat. He’s obviously in anguish, but she’s nothing but a monster now. He comes closer, and we hear Joe Cocker singing You Are So Beautiful. Negan rips the bag from Lucille’s head, and cries some more, getting as close as possible.

He sits against the bed, and she reaches for him, still chained down. He rolls a bottle of scotch around in his hands, and looks at the cooler.

Outside, Negan cuts barbed wire from the fence, and wraps it around the bat.

He pours gasoline all over the house, stands in the bedroom, and lights a match. He drops it, and the room begins to burn. He looks at Lucille through the flames.

He busts out the front door with the bat, and leaves the house. He drives away on his bike, knocking the mailbox (which says Smith) down with the bat as he goes by.

The house burns.

Craven pummels Franklin, and laughs. He says, it’s been a long day; he didn’t get much sleep. This is the last time he’s going to ask. Tell him where they keep the good stuff or he’ll bring out the girl. She’s a little young for Franklin, doesn’t he think?

The other guy sits outside, and Negan comes back with his bat, and bashes the guy with it. A guard comes out of the trailer, and Negan shoots him.

Hearing the shot, Craven asks, what the hell is going on? Another guy says he’s checking it out, and Franklin works at the same screw in the chair that Negan did when he was in it. At the time, I thought it insignificant, since nothing came of it. I should have known better. There are more gunshots, and Craven ducks. He gets on his radio, and asks, will one of you idiots tell me what the hell is going on? He hears shots come closer, and looks scared. Franklin unties himself, while Craven is preoccupied with aiming at the door. Franklin gets free as Negan walk in and shoots Craven. Craven crawls for the gun, and Negan whacks him with the new Lucille. Franklin asks if there are any more of them, but Negan says he got all of them. Franklin says, damn, and Negan hands him a gun, telling him to take it and find his daughter; make sure she’s okay. Franklin leaves, and Negan pulls Craven up to his knees.

Negan sits and says, look at us; here we are again. Last time, Craven said he talks too much. The bad news is, he’s got stuff to get off his chest this time as well. This time, Craven best hope he never stops talking. When he does, something terrible is going to happen to Craven. He never killed a man before tonight. He came close once. There was a bar that he and his wife used to go to; it was their favorite bar. It was their favorite because it had their favorite jukebox that played their favorite song; You Are So Beautiful, by the one and only Joe Cocker. The greatest love ballad ever written; he’s sure Craven agrees. There was this guy there who had one of those voices you can’t unhear; it was like Negan’s brain had been hijacked until he couldn’t hear anymore. Their song was playing, and the guy was talking and laughing, so Negan’s wife Lucille goes over to where the guy is, and politely asks him to keep it down so she can hear her song. Let’s just say he chose poorly. So now, Negan has to get up, and go over. He says the guy owes him 50 cents, so they can play the song again, and he can shut the hell up so Negan’s wife can enjoy her song. Now here’s the important part – the part where he really wants Craven to pay attention. You know when people say they’re so angry, they see red? That sh*t is actually true. The a-hole comes at him, and all he sees is red; it’s like he’s looking through blood. He wailed on the guy until he wasn’t moving, reached out, grabbed his wallet, and took out a dollar. They played the song twice. It turns out, the pr*ck had kids who went to school where Negan taught gym. Needless to say, the school was unthrilled. He got fired, the guy sued him, and since he had no job, his wife had to pay the guy’s medical bills. The point of the story is, there are consequences to him seeing red. Seeing red meant bad things then; he was a bad man then. Now, nobody is suing anybody, nobody got fired, and nobody’s keeping score. Now seeing red is a question of what Negan is capable of. He hates to break it to Craven, but he’s starting to think he’s capable of damn near anything. So this is for not killing him. He beats Craven with new Lucille.

In the present, the zombie has finally reached Negan, and he whacks it twice. He looks at looks at the bat, breathing heavy.

Negan is back in the cabin, sitting in front of the fireplace, holding the bat. He says he’s sorry. He was a coward. He couldn’t face the pain he was in. He ran away, and made himself not feel anything. He didn’t want to feel shame; shame was the one thing he still felt. He’s sorry she went out like that; he should have been there. He’s sorry he named the baseball bat after her, and sorry for the pain he put her through. He hopes she found someone in the afterlife, and is screwing her brains out… Not really, but fair is fair. He misses her. He loved the sh*t out of her, and he’s going to do her fighting for her. He puts a cloth over the bat, and puts it in the fireplace. He watches it burn.

Negan walks back into town. Carol and Maggie see him, and Carol walks over to him. He asks where the A-team is off to, and she says, an Army base. If they find anything, they’ll bring something back to his cabin. He says, that won’t be necessary. The situation isn’t going to work out. Carol says, if Negan stays, Maggie will kill him. Carol didn’t want his death on her conscience; now it’s not. He says, fair enough. He keeps walking, and looks at Maggie as he goes by. He smiles, but with Maggie, it’s more like, if looks could kill…

This was the finale, and Fear the Walking Dead starts its new season next week.

This had to be the saddest episode ever.

General Hospital

Curtis tells Finn, word on the street is, he’s getting married. He congratulates Finn, and they bro hug. Finn invites Curtis in, and Curtis says, look at him, all cool and calm. How’s he feeling? Finn says he doesn’t know about cool and calm, but he’s okay; he’s good. Violet is so excited, she’s practically levitating. Curtis says he can imagine. He’s happy for Finn, and Finn says he’s glad Curtis is there. Curtis played a big part in this. He helped Finn get his life back on the right track. Curtis says, it was all Finn. Finn got sober and stayed sober, and now he gets to live the life he deserves. Finn says, still, he’ll never forget what Curtis did. There’s a knock at the door, and it’s Chase, who says, this is it, the big day. Is Finn ready to spend the rest of his life with Anna? Finn says, sure. Why not?

Jordan walks into Anna’s house, and says, her official ride has arrived, and her dress has been delivered to the MetroCourt. She sees Anna sitting on the couch, staring into space, and says she’s ready, and Anna is… Anna says, oh, hi. She’s just finishing her tea. Jordan says, forgive her for saying it, but Anna doesn’t seem very excited. Is everything okay? Anna says, yeah, and asks if Jordan will be okay with seeing Curtis. Jordan tells her not to worry. She and Curtis are adults. They can handle being at the same social events. The doorbell rings, and Jordan answers it. Anna flashes back to Peter burning the evidence, and Jordan says Valentin is there. Valentin walks in looking grimmer than we’ve ever seen him look.

Peter sees Britt at the MetroCourt, and asks where his bride is, but she blocks the door. She says he’s not getting anywhere near Maxie.

Inside on the phone, Maxie tells Felicia that she got the presents. Open them before the ceremony? She figured. She tells Felicia, it’s okay. They’re Aunt Liddy’s only relatives, and she needs Felicia. She has Nina there to help her get ready. She has to go, and tells Felicia that she loves her too. Nina asks if she’s okay, and Maxie says although she’d love to have her mother there, her aunt Liddy, who is really her great-grandmother Mariah’s cousin, took a fall and needs Felicia, which she fully supports. Nina says Felicia is being generous, since she’s sure Felicia would want to be there on her daughter’s big wedding day. She takes Maxie’s hands, and asks where they start. Maxie asks if Nina is sure she’s up for this.

Jason sees Sam, and says she looks great. She thanks him, and says she’s on flower duty. She told Maxie that she’d make sure the ballroom looked perfect. She asks how he is; how’s Carly after Nina’s meltdown? He says, she’s okay. The Feds are satisfied that Nelle’s death was an accident. Sam says Carly is really lucky to have a friend like him.

Laura brings Lesley some coffee in the hospital boardroom, and says it went so much better than she expected. Lesley says Laura can be very persuasive. She doesn’t know where Laura gets it from. Laura says, Cyrus’s day is about to get a whole lot worse, and they laugh.

Cyrus comes stomping out of the elevator, looking at his tablet. He throws it down in front of Jackie, who’s standing at the reception desk, and says, what the hell is this?

Cameron is reading The Invader, where the headline says, Criminal Ties, next to Cyrus’s picture. Franco comes downstairs and sits on the couch, and Cameron asks if he wants breakfast. Franco says that’s nice of Cameron, but he doesn’t think he can manage it right now. Cameron says he picked up some extra shifts at Kelly’s since it’s winter break, and starts to put on his coat. Franco sits up straight and says, before Cameron does that, can they please have a conversation about his decision to not go to college? Cameron says, what about it? and Franco says Cameron has to go to college. It’s a bridge to his future. He has to go and practice being amazing, so he can be amazing in the world. Cameron says, the world will still be there after Franco… after Franco doesn’t need his help anymore. Franco says he won’t allow Cameron to postpone his life, and Cameron says, being there is the right thing. Elizabeth comes downstairs, as Franco says he wonders how Cameron can even say that after he attacked him. Cameron looks at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth asks, what happened? Franco was asleep when she got home last night, but Cameron didn’t say anything about an attack. Cameron says, Franco is just being dramatic. Franco was sleeping, Cameron woke him up, and it startled him. Franco says he almost hurt Cameron, and Cameron says, but he didn’t; he’s fine. Elizabeth says, just tell her what happened, and Cameron says, Franco was having a nightmare, and when he woke Franco up, Franco grabbed him. Franco says he didn’t just grab Cameron. He pinned him down on the couch. Cameron says, and Franco stopped the moment he realized it was him. Franco starts to argue, and Elizabeth says, okay. Was Franco angry when he grabbed Cameron? Franco says, the point is, he attacked Cameron, and Cameron asks if they can stop saying attacked. Elizabeth asks if Franco is talking about moving out, and Cameron says, no. He was just saying that he’s not going to college. Elizabeth looks startled.

Chase asks how Finn is, and Finn wonders why everyone is asking him that. Does it look like he’s trying to find the exit door? Anna is the best thing that ever happened to him, except for Violet. Chase says, and him, and Finn says, yeah. There’s a knock  at the door, and Chase says, by the way, he invited dad. Finn says, what? and Gregory comes in.

Laura tells Lesley, she still can’t get over the fact that Lesley and Monica worked together on this. Lesley says, she and Monica will always have their differences, but General Hospital comes first. She and Laura join hands.

Jackie tells Cyrus, it’s called journalism. Part of the free press aspect of our society. He says, that’s libel, and if she talked to his mother, she’s an accessory to kidnapping. She says, Florence gave her no indication that she was being held against her will, and he says, tell him where his mother is now.

Spinelli gets off the elevator at the MetroCourt, and walks over to Jason and Sam. He says, greetings on this most curse-ed day, and Sam asks if he’s going to be able to handle the wedding. He says he promised Maxinista that he’d come… to witness what he knows will be the biggest mistake of her life.

Maxie tells Nina, when she, Nina, and Britt were all at the cemetery, they said they were family, right? Nina says they did, and Maxie says, family means telling each other the truth. Nina just found out the daughter she was searching for was Nelle. It’s a pretty traumatic thing to process. Is Nina sure she’s in the wedding mood?

Peter asks Britt what he did now, and she says, nothing is wrong. Tradition says she can’t let him see the bride before the wedding. He says, oh, that, and she says, of course (🍷). What else? She suggests they go get a drink in the lobby, and he says, it’s 10 o’clock in the morning. She says, so? They’ll dress it up with coffee.

Anna tells Jordan, she just wants to make sure everything is sorted out, and has to talk to Valentin. Jordan tells her, don’t be too long, and leaves. Valentin asks Anna how she is, and she says, devastated. She’s furious, at herself mostly, for not seeing what was right in front of her face. She finally gets it. Peter is not the man she thought he was. He’s beyond their help. Robert tried to warn her; Jason tried to warn her. She put Maxie in harm’s way, and now it’s up to them to make sure Peter never hurts anyone again.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Chase says Finn left is tux in the bag; he has to let it breathe. Finn says, it’s a suit, an inanimate object, and asks Gregory if he has enough coffee. Gregory says, it’s fine. He’s just preoccupied about Jackie. He married two incredible women, and has two fine sons to show for it. They make all the pain and heartache of love worth it. Finn gets a text on his phone saying, your DNA test results are ready.

Jackie tells Cyrus that she doesn’t know his mother’s current location. She’s sure Florence was moved following their conversation. He asks who set up the interview; Jason Morgan? She says a reporter never reveals their source, and Florence specifically said she didn’t want to see him. He says, she’s an old woman in poor health, and easily confused, but Jackie says her mind seemed clear as a bell when they spoke. A woman approaches Cyrus and says, the Board meeting is about to begin. She hands him some papers, and he snatches them from her. He tells Jackie, they’re not done.

Curtis approaches Jordan, and says, hi. She tells him that he looks great; she was just texting Anna. He says, she’s not here? and Jordan says she’s sure Anna is on her way. How has he been? Sam comes in, and apologizes for interrupting. She tells Curtis that her lawyers have been waiting on the paperwork for the sale, and asks if his have drawn them up yet. Jordan says, sale? and Sam tells Curtis that they can talk later. Curtis says he’s sure there was a mix-up. He’ll have his lawyer get it to her as soon as possible. Sam leaves, and Jordan wonders what’s going on… or is she not allowed to ask anymore?

Cyrus walks into the boardroom, and sees Laura and Lesley. He asks where the Board is; they have a vote scheduled. Lesley says, had, and Laura says, it’s all over.

Spinelli tells Jason that he’s glad Georgie has tonsilitis and isn’t there to participate in this farce of a ceremony. Sam sees Peter and Britt come in, and says hi loudly. Spinelli asks what one of the grooms is doing wandering around the lobby, and Peter says he’s glad he ran into Spinelli. He’d like to have a word about the wedding. Spinelli says, sure, and follows Peter to somewhere more private.    

Nina tells Maxie that she admits it crossed her mind that she’ll never help her own daughter get ready for her wedding. That’s what makes helping Maxie get ready more precious. She asks what present Maxie wants to open first, but Maxie says she can’t chose, and tells Nina to pick one. Nina hands Maxie a jewelry box, and Maxie opens it, finding a garter laced with a blue ribbon. Maxie says, of course (🍷), and Nina says she’s proud of Felicia. She took care of the blue and the new. She gives Maxie another jewelry box, and there are beautiful earrings inside. Maxie says they belonged to her sister Georgie, and were her great-grandmother Mariah’s before that. Nina says, there’s the old and the borrowed, and truly loved. You can’t beat that. Maxie says, you can’t.

Cameron suggests he postpone college, and get a job. Franco says he’s leaving out the part about the college being in California, and that he’s been admitted. Cameron tells Elizabeth, he got accepted to Stanford, and asks Franco if he’s happy now. Elizabeth says it wasn’t even on Cameron’s list, and Cameron says, it was a reach. Franco says, apparently not. Before they have this conversation about possible postponement, he feels a gap year is to find out what your passion is, and figure things out, not for taking extra shifts at Kelly’s to unfairly help with your parent’s financial responsibilities. Elizabeth suggests they put a pin in this important conversation for now. They need to talk about what happened last night. Franco says, they’ll totally put a pin in it, and they’ll talk about everything, but not now. There’s something else he has to say. He can’t stay there anymore.

Anna tells Valentin, Peter doubled down on the lie about Obrecht framing him. When she confronted him with the incriminating documents, he took them right out of her hand and threw them in the fire. Valentin says, burning the evidence, and she says, but it was the way he justified it; his sense of entitlement and his blatant disregard for the truth. She saw him clearly for the first time. Valentin says she wanted to believe in his redemption – they both did – but he was raised by Faison. She says, Faison is dead, and Peter is a man now, responsible for his own choices. People can change, but it appears Peter doesn’t want to. He killed Drew, and almost killed Andre and Franco. And not out of malice or vengeance but to cover his tracks, which means he’ll continue to do that. Valentin says, it’s up to them, and she says, it is. Any hope she had of Peter’s redemption went up in flames, along with the evidence.

Valentin asks why Anna didn’t call Peter out on his lies, and she says she wanted to give him one last chance. One last test to see if he’d tell the truth, but he didn’t. She’s done. She can’t delude herself any more. Peter has to face justice for what he’s done. Valentin says, not quite yet.

Finn looks at his phone, and Chase asks what’s so fascinating. Something from Anna? Finn says, it’s an emergency at the hospital. He has to leave. Gregory says, don’t be ridiculous. He’s the groom. Finn says he’ll be right back. He can get ready in five. Chase tells Gregory to save his breath. If his patients need Finn, he’s there. He’s a dedicated doctor. Gregory tells Finn, go on then. They’ll be there waiting. He puts his arm around Chase, and says, right, son? Chase says, right, and Finn leaves.

Britt tells Jason, the Board was supposed to vote today, but she hasn’t heard anything; she’s been there. Sam asks if there’s something going on at GH, and Jason says, yeah. He’s just been keeping tabs on Cyrus. Britt asks if Sam has spoken to Dante. How’s he doing? Sam says, he’s doing fine, and Britt says, alrighty. Good talk. She leaves, and Jason tells Sam to take him through exactly what made her mom go after Franco. Sam says, her mom was drinking, and read the article in The Invader. She thinks it pushed Alexis over the edge, and made her act out. He asks how Franco was acting, and she says, he was agitated. At one point, he was talking to himself again, the same way he did when he showed up at the penthouse. She was scared. He says, okay, and thanks her. She says, of course (🍷), and he leaves.

Franco tells Elizabeth, he can’t stay there anymore. They talked about it; him not being a danger to her and the boys. Cameron says, Franco… and Elizabeth says if Franco feels he might be a danger to someone, then they can check him into Shadybrook. Cameron says, what? and she says, just until they figure out what’s happening. Cameron says, Franco’s not dangerous; he had a nightmare. She says, this is just for Franco’s peace of mind, and Cameron says, what about their peace of mind? They need him there. Jake and Aiden are still young. They need Franco. Franco says he’ll still see them, and Cameron says, just not at home. Cameron runs upstairs, and Elizabeth says it’s just because Cameron loves Franco; they all do. Franco says, and he loves them, but wants her to understand this is what he has to do. They agreed if he ever acted dangerously… Elizabeth thinks he was just startled. Cameron woke him up in the middle of a nightmare. Franco says, a nightmare about Jason.

Spinelli says he doubts Peter invited him up for a toast, so he’ll just say it… Peter says, stop talking. He’s tired of the games. He doesn’t want Spinelli at the wedding. Spinelli laughs, saying he doesn’t want to be there, but he promised Maxie, and they have a child together. Peter says he’s come to grips with Spinelli and Maxie co-parenting, but he’s not going to have Spinelli lurking at the wedding, stirring up trouble. Go. Away. Now.  

Nina says she’s always admired Maxie, and Maxie says she’s always had a flair for accessorizing. Nina says, she has, but she admires Maxie for having the courage to find love after losing Nathan. A blow like that isn’t easy to recover from. Maxie says, James drew her a picture today. It said, happy wedding day, mommy and daddy. Nina asks, what is it? and Maxie says, it’s just that drawing… James always referred to Peter as Peter, and James has pictures of Nathan. They  talk about him all the time. So for James to call Peter daddy, it got to her. She doesn’t know why. Nina says she gets it, but if Maxie is feeling guilty or disloyal, don’t. Doesn’t she think Nathan would want James to have a father? Maxie says she does, but she doesn’t know if Nathan would want him to be Peter. She went to Nathan’s grave, and asked for his blessing, but she didn’t get it. Nina asks if she’s sure, and Maxie says, usually when she visits Nathan, she can sense him; she feels warmth in her chest. This time, all she felt was cold.

Cyrus asks Laura, what’s going on? and she says, as he knows, her mother is a board member emeritus. When the Board read Jackie’s article, they agreed to meet early to discuss the vote. He says he can’t believe anyone paid attention to that article. It was a hatchet job; sensationalist tabloid garbage. Laura says, still, Jackie’s credentials carry a certain amount of prestige. Her mother and Monica simply suggested they read it. Lesley says, it was a close vote, but ultimately, the Board decided to turn him down. Laura tells him, don’t bother trying to fight it either. The drug was developed at GH, and GH isn’t going to submit it to the FDA.

Elizabeth gives Franco his shaving case, and tells him that his meds are in it. He thanks her, and says Doc is going to meet him there tomorrow morning, and help him check in. He’ll stay at the MetroCourt until then. There’s a knock at the door.    

Chase tells Gregory that he steamed Finn’s suit. He can’t believe Finn spent the night there so he wouldn’t see Anna before the wedding. Who knew either of them was so traditional? Gregory says, it’s a way to mark the end of your single life, and take a pause before your life as a married partner begins. Chase says, he and mom didn’t do that, did they? Mom is anything but traditional. Gregory says, actually, Jackie insisted on it. He didn’t see or hear from her for 24-hours before the wedding. Part of him started to wonder if maybe she’d changed her mind.

Jackie comes out of the elevator at the hospital, and sees Finn. She asks if he isn’t getting married in a few hours, and he says, something came up that couldn’t wait. She says, what could possibly be… Is it about Harry(Chase)? He says he did the DNA test, and the results are at the lab. When he gets them, he’ll know if Chase is his son. She says he can’t do this.

Cyrus says Laura and her mother had no right to meddle. GH needs the income stream this new drug could bring. Lesley says she thinks he’s talking about his income stream. Doesn’t he hold the patent for the drug? Laura says, it’s for the best. The FDA would have done more testing, and what they did was save General Hospital from public embarrassment. He says, this isn’t over, and leaves. Lesley says, it felt so good, and Laura says she thinks Lesley and Monica should team up more often. Lesley says they may not see eye to eye on much of anything, but they agree Cyrus is wrong for GH. Laura says, Cyrus was just handed his first major setback since he took over as Chairman. Lesley says she’s going to savor the memory as her plane takes off, and Laura says, she’s leaving?

Curtis tells Jordan, all he needs to do now is finalize the paperwork, and she says she didn’t realize that he was unhappy being a P.I. He says, neither did he, until he recognized and decided he needed a change in his life, a different direction. She asks if he has any idea what he’s going to do next, and he says he’s buying a nightclub.

Anna asks if Valentin still wants to protect Peter after everything he’s done, but he says, no. Peter burned the evidence, which is a good thing since Anna withheld it. She could have gotten arrested. They need proof of Peter’s crimes. Anna says, and let him marry her goddaughter in the meantime? No. Maxie needs to know the truth about who she’s letting in to her life. He says, if she tells Maxie the truth, it could get Peter killed.  

Nina says she had no idea Maxie had doubts about marrying Peter, but Maxie says she was talking about Nathan. Her phone rings, and it’s Spinelli. She asks if everything is okay with Georgie, and he says, Georgie’s condition remains unchanged. His, however, is not. Sadly, he’s succumbed to an unfortunate stomach malady, and needs to go home. He’s so sorry. She says, what? He’s not coming to the wedding? He says he’s afraid not, but please know he wishes her only the best of everything. Her happiness is truly all he’s ever wanted. Again, he’s so sorry. He hangs up, and says, satisfied? Peter says, quite. Now go home. If he sees anyone, pretend to be sick. Spinelli says, he won’t have to pretend. This marriage nauseates him. He leaves. 

Maxie tells Nina, Spinelli just apologized. He said he’s sorry, but he’s not coming to the wedding. Nina says she’s sorry, but Maxie says, it’s fine. It would probably be too hard for him to watch her marry Peter anyway. Like it’s too hard her for Nina for different reasons. Nina just had her heart ripped out, and shouldn’t be forced to paste on a smile and be in a partying mood. Nina says, of course (🍷) she’ll be there, but Maxie tells her, consider herself uninvited. Nina says, what?

Jason asks Elizabeth if Franco is there, but she says, it’s not a good time. Franco says, it’s fine; come on in. Is there something Jason wants to ask him?

Cyrus stomps around the reception area. Finn tells Jackie that he knows how she feels, but sorry; the test results are waiting, and he needs to know the truth. She says, at any cost? A woman brings a phone to Cyrus, and says, the Board is on the line, and wants to discuss the vote. He takes the phone. Jackie says, Finn hasn’t changed a bit, has he? It’s all about facts, not people. He doesn’t stop to consider the ramifications of the truth. He says he thought the truth didn’t matter in journalism, but she says, not with this. Gregory will always be Chase’s father, and they’re still family. If Finn finds out Chase is his son, it will devastate Gregory. Finn has no idea what Chase means to Gregory; they’re so close. Chase will lose everything; the father he’s loved his whole life, the mother who kept the information from him, and the brother he’s come to care about and adore. Is it worth taking all that from Chase?

Chase asks if Gregory thought his mom was going to leave him stranded at the altar. Was he paranoid? Gregory says, they fell in love fast, Jackie was younger, and he kept wondering what this beautiful, intelligent adventurer saw in a quiet history professor. Chase says, there must have been something; she showed up, didn’t she? Gregory says, she did. She spent so long in the bride’s room, he thought she’d never come out, but when she did, his life was never the same. Chase asks if she ever said where she was, and Gregory says he didn’t ask. Once they were married, it didn’t seem important.

Jason tells Franco, Sam said he was talking to himself before Alexis attacked him. Can Franco tell him what that was about? Cameron comes down, and asks what Jason is doing there. Jason says he came to speak to Franco, and Elizabeth tells Cameron, they’ve got this; go upstairs. Cameron says he’ll go when Jason goes, but Franco says, please do as his mom asks. They’re fine. Cameron leaves, and Franco says Cameron thinks Jason is a  threat to him. Elizabeth says, but his fears are unfounded, because any agreement Jason made with Franco is off. Franco says, so Jason was asking why he was talking to himself. He’s hearing voices.

Valentin says, if Anna tells Maxie, she’ll tell Spinelli. Anna says, and he’ll tell Jason. Valentin says she knows how Jason will react, and she says Jason tried to warn her, but she didn’t listen. Valentin says, Jason will kill him, and she says she wouldn’t be surprised if Peter turned up dead. They wouldn’t be able to trace it to Jason, but it would be his work.   

Anna says she doesn’t want Jason involved. She wants Peter to face justice, but not killed in cold blood. Valentin says, then don’t they have to wait? Gather evidence, so the WSB can prosecute Peter themselves? Anna says, at Maxie’s expense? She can’t do that. He says, so what do they do?

Laura says she wishes she and Lesley had more time together, but she’s grateful Lesley is going to be with Lulu. Lesley tells her, don’t worry. She’s going to consult with Lulu’s doctors, and make sure her granddaughter is getting the best possible care. Laura says she keeps hoping and praying Lulu will wake up, and Laura says, they have to keep believing. Lesley says, their girl is strong, like her momma, and Laura says, and like her momma. They hug, and Laura tells her mother that she loves her.

Jackie says she’s begging Finn, please think about the people he loves and what they stand to lose. Finn nods, and says, okay. Maybe she’s right. Today is not the day for this. He won’t go to the lab and get the results. She thanks him, and says he’s saved them all a lot of pain.

Jordan tells Curtis that she hopes it works out. He deserves to be happy. He thanks her, and she asks him to save her a table for his opening night at the new club. He says she’s got it, and she says she’d better go. Anna will be there any minute. She walks to the elevator, and Curtis says she looks incredible. She goes into the elevator, and tries not to cry.

Jason says, Franco is hearing voices? and Franco says, just the one. Elizabeth says the doctor in Switzerland thought it was left over from Drew’s memories, not the tumor. Jason asks if Franco recognizes the voice, and Franco says he does. It’s Peter August.  

Peter looks at his tux, and says, it won’t be long now before he marries Maxie.

Sam and Britt go to the bride’s room, and Britt asks if Maxie is ready for the finishing touches. Sam wonders if she’s still getting dressed, and goes into the other room. Britt sees the garter, and Sam comes back, saying, Maxie’s not here; she’s gone. Britt wonders where she could be.   

At Nathan’s grave, Maxie says, it’s her again. She’s getting married in a few hours, and had to come check in with him first, because she doesn’t know what to do. He always knew the right thing to do, so please, she needs his guidance. She hears footsteps, and says, oh my God. What are you doing here?

On Monday, Curtis says he feels solid in his decision, Sam says they have no idea where Maxie is, Maxie says Peter isn’t the man someone thinks he is, and Valentin says, it’s not too late.

What I Watched Today

General Hospital

At the WSB facility in Geneva, Dante does push-ups while remembering his mission. Complete the mission plays in his head.

Lulu tells Brando to text her when her car is ready, but he says it was just a flat, and it’s finished. She tells him that she got a lead on a story, and didn’t even realize she had a flat. She’s glad his garage is there. Cyrus walks in and says, that makes two of them.

Lucy looks over Sasha’s photos, and loves them. She asks what Maxie’s secret is, and Maxie says, fear of failure and a good photographer. She asks which photo Lucy is going with, and Lucy pulls one out. Sasha asks if it’s weird to like her own picture. Maxie and Lucy both say, no! and Sasha says she likes it too. Valentin asks if he gets a vote.

Curtis goes to the hospital to take TJ to lunch, and TJ apologizes, saying he should have texted; they have to postpone. Curtis asks if TJ is supposed to live at the hospital, and TJ tells him it’s an unwritten rule for med students. Curtis says it’s the only place he gets to see TJ, and TJ says it’s the only place Molly gets to see him too. He did take off last night so they could be together though.

At the MetroCourt, Sam wants to talk to Carly about Jason’s power of attorney. Carly says Jason is her best friend, so of course (🍷) she said yes, but she doesn’t want to get in the middle of them. Sam says she wants to thank Carly.

Chase finds Jason outside the courtroom, and asks why he’s there. Jason says he’s picking up some permits, and Chase asks if he doesn’t have an assistant for that, but Jason says he wanted to follow-up in person. Chase says Jason saved him a call. He doesn’t have to answer, but at the risk of repeating himself, where was Jason on the night of February 19th when the warehouse exploded? Jason says he’s not saying anything without his attorney present, which is never a surprise to anyone. Chase says, he’s not asking in an official capacity, but he can. Jordan walks in, and asks what Chase is doing.   

Dante looks at the pencil and paper. He gets up from the floor, picks up pencil, and puts it down again. A doctor comes in, and asks if Dante doesn’t take a day off, and Dante says, it’s something to do. The doctor says they have activities if he’s bored, but Dante says he’s good. He likes it. The doctor says he’s concerned about Dante. What does Dante think the WSB will say when they find out he refuses to engage in therapy? Dante says, nothing good, and the doctor says, they’re patient, but not indulgent. They’ll decide Dante is a lost cause, and consign him to the doctor’s care for the rest of his life. Dante says he’s fine with that.

TJ tells Curtis, last night was about putting Molly first, and reconnecting. Curtis says TJ has had a lot to deal with. TJ says, first, he was abducted, his abduction was never solved, and now he’s at the hospital full time. Curtis asks if he has to be, and TJ admits he doesn’t. Curtis says TJ didn’t just get abducted, he was injured; he’s still doing physical therapy. TJ says the hospital offered to accommodate him, but he turned them down.   

Brando tells Cyrus, he’ll just be a minute, and Cyrus says, of course (🍷); the mayor’s daughter takes precedence. Lulu tells Brando, this is Cyrus Renault. He may have heard of Cyrus. He just came out of doing hard time. Cyrus says, for a crime he didn’t commit. Lulu says he was involved with the shooting where Brando and her mom got hurt. Cyrus says his connection is unfounded; he was in prison. He hopes the needless violence is a thing of the past, with Laura and the Commissioner at the helm. If anyone can keep the peace, they can.  

Lucy says Valentin’s opinion is welcome, and Maxie asks, since when? Lucy says they couldn’t have relaunched Deception if Valentin hadn’t invested, but Maxie thinks that’s a stretch. Valentin says he doesn’t need gratitude; he needs collaboration. Maxie says she thought he was a silent partner, and he says he may not know about beauty and skincare, but he knows a good business move. The face of Deception needs a voice, and he’s found the perfect one. Lucy says, do tell, and he says he’s introducing Deception’s new voice. Brook comes in.

Carly asks if Sam is sure she’s okay with this, and she says she is, but when Jason told her, she was surprised. Carly imagines she must have been angry too, but Jason did it to spare her from being the one responsible, if the day came when he was unable to make his own decisions. He made it clear, he’d want to die, but didn’t want Sam to have to make that choice. Sam says she went home and did some thinking. She thought about the children, and what happened when she thought Jason died before. It would be worse for them to lose her. They love him, but she’s the parent they know and live with. They need their mom.

Jordan says she needs a word with Chase, but asks Jason to stick around. She takes Chase aside, and tells him that she’s doing him an enormous favor, before Jason’s barracuda of a lawyer barges in. Chase says they have reason to believe Cyrus was linked to the warehouse, and Jason blew it up in retaliation. She says there’s no evidence, and he’s becoming carelessly close to losing objectivity. She’ll take it from here. The last thing they want is a lawsuit. Chase leaves, and Jordan says she’d appreciate it if Jason didn’t unleash Diane; Chase was just doing his job. Jason says he knows. They’re on the same side on this, and he’d like to keep it that way.

Dante tells the doctor, he turned himself in because he can’t control his actions. When and if he picks up a weapon, who will be his target? It makes him dangerous. The doctor says Dante was traumatized by his indoctrination, and suffered a near-crippling physical injury. Dante says, the doctor read his file. The last time he had a visitor, he freaked out, and hurt a guard. It’s better to safeguard him in this facility. The doctor says it’s not the staff he’s worried about.

Cyrus tells Lulu to give her mother his regards. The hospital is fortunate to have her support. Lulu says, not just hers. The Quartermaines have supported GH for years to help it remain independent, and they’ll continue to support it. Cyrus says, that’s wonderful news. He wants to make sure the hospital is financially sound, and patients remain confident. That’s why he’s having a conversation with the board later. She says, he’s meeting with the board? and Cyrus says he’s sure they’ll find another use for his good intentions. Lulu thanks Brando, and leaves. Brando asks what’s the problem with Cyrus’s car? but Cyrus says his car is fine. He’s there to discuss another matter. 

Valentin says Brook is going to write and perform a tune synonymous with the brand, and Maxie says, like a jingle? Valentin says, if she wants to call it that, and Maxie says she doesn’t like jingles. Brook says she doesn’t either, but Sasha says, it’s not a bad idea. Lucy says she would have preferred someone like Lady Gaga, but this is the next best thing. Maxie says ELQ is having nothing to do with the company.   

Sam says, holding the family together is Carly’s top propriety, and the children. Carly says, it wasn’t always that way. When Michael was a baby, she never stayed out of anything, but as time went on, she saw that her kids needed to depend on her. She stands by Sonny, but only to a point. There’s nothing more important than being a mom. She can’t afford the luxury of being arrested or shot at; she’s working on the second one. The kids suffer when she’s not around, and she has to put them first. She had to take a step back against her instincts. Sam says, she wanted to go in swinging? and Carly says, when Donna was born, she knew this little baby was 100% dependent on her, and had every right to expect all her time and devotion. There was no option of running headfirst into danger. Sam says she wishes they’d had this conversation before she decided to go after Shiloh.

Jordan tells Jason that she threw her partners under the bus for Cyrus, but he says she did it for TJ. She says Cyrus’s sentence was vacated, and now, he not only operates with impunity, he has leverage; threatening her loved ones, and having knowledge of the crap she’s already done. She sees no way of getting out from under his thumb. Jason says, it will happen, and she asks, when? She doesn’t know how much more she can take. How much more damage she can stand by and let this man cause.

TJ tells Curtis that he wants no special treatment. If he can’t handle adversity, he’s not much of a doctor. Curtis says, if TJ burns out, he’ll be no good to anyone. He’s been there. TJ says he’s driven to be the best, passionate about his job, and loves helping people, and Curtis says, that’s how he was when he was a cop. He lived and breathed his job until it consumed him. He’s trying to prevent that happening to TJ.

Lucy tells Maxie not to be hasty, and Maxie says she’s not hasty. She doesn’t think it’s a smart business move. Brook says Maxie is predictable. Maxie knows it’s a smart decision because she’s a smart businesswoman. Having music synonymous with the brand makes sense. She’s just hesitating because of her BFF Lulu, who judges them from her lofty pedestal, since they’re not up to her standards. The simple fact is, Brook sees through Lulu, and Lulu can’t stand it. Maxie admits Lulu is less than perfect, but Lulu is still her friend. Brook says, that’s her choice, if she likes constant judgement, but don’t stand in the way of the rest of them. Maxie says Brook has one thing right – Lulu is her friend.

Sam tells Carly, she was focused on taking out Shiloh, and saving Kristina. Carly says, Kristina is her sister; her intention were admirable, but Sam says if she’s being honest, she was getting back to herself, if that makes sense. Carly says, who she was before she had kids? Sam says, she ran con after con then, and she wanted to do the things she did well. She got so caught up in it, she didn’t think about the consequences, and how she could make things worse for her kids.   

Jason tells Jordan, the question she needs to ask is, what good it would do to fight back without leverage? She says, so they wait while the drugs pile up? Jason says, Cyrus can’t afford to break his truce with Sonny. He’s going to pretend to be an upstanding citizen while laying the groundwork to push Sonny out. As long as she plays along, she’ll have the option to bring Cyrus down.

Maxie says Valentin and Brook are acting righteous, and like Lulu is the problem, when Brook’s been flirting with Lulu’s boyfriend, using her old pet nickname for him. While they’re off collaborating, and bringing up the good old days, didn’t Brook think it would trigger Lulu after what she tried to do with Dante? Brook says, the husband Lulu dropped like a hot rock when he got sick? Lucy says Lulu has flaws; they all do. Maxie says, some more than others. She refuses to apologize for being considerate of her best friend. Lucy drags Maxie out into the hall, and Sasha says, that went well. Lucy asks Maxie, what on earth is wrong with her, reacting without thinking; why? Maxie says, Deception is her baby, and Lucy says, excuse me? Maxie says, yes, it was Lucy’s first, but Lucy brought her in and gave her a piece of the action. She’s never had that. She loved Crimson, but it wasn’t hers. She brought her talent and creativity, but the editor had the final say, and the publisher reaped the rewards. Deception is theirs about to be a reality, and she feels something momentous is going to happen. Lucy says she understands, but Maxie has to get ahold of herself or Deception will be over before it starts.

Sam tells Carly, the worst part was the kids missing her when she was in prison. Danny was trying to be brave, but underneath, he was scared, and Scout was just confused. She didn’t get why Sam was staying away. Carly says, thank God for Jason, and Sam says, it was a huge comfort. He was there for them, and the Quartermaines, and Carly. Carly says, it’s no substitute for a mother, and Sam says she was supposed to be there, but she wasn’t; she was on parole. It’s been frustrating, and a huge obstacle in her life, but not like she’s used to. She feels like she’s in quicksand. Carly understands, but since Sam brought it up, what happened with her parole officer?

Curtis tells TJ, not to be all Zen master, but life is about balance. You need to make a place for yourself and your loved ones first. If you don’t, they could slip away one dark night. You’ll look in the mirror, and your job is all you have. TJ says Curtis needs to have that conversation with his mom; she’s out of balance with work. Feel free to play the mom guilt card. Curtis asks, how? and TJ says he just called to check in. Jordan didn’t answer, but no call back and no text. Six months ago, that never would have happened, but it’s happening more and more lately. Curtis says he thinks he can use that – for Jordan’s own good. He thanks TJ for the ammo, and leaves.

Jordan says, so Jason is suggesting she go undercover as a corrupt Police Commissioner, which is true, but he wants her to use it to her advantage. Jason says, the more Cyrus thinks he has control, the more likely he is to make a mistake. Eventually, he’ll make one that gets him eliminated, but she won’t be involved. Jordan’s phone rings. It’s Cyrus, reminding her of her appointment to meet him at his new residence. Don’t be late. Jason asks if everything is okay, and Jordan says Cyrus wants her to meet him at his new home. Jason asks if she’s going, and she says he just made an excellent case as to why she has to. Jason says maybe he’ll take a ride out there, and she says, if he does, that would be his prerogative. She’s done her research, and has a good idea of how he came to work for Sonny. He survived an accident, and had cognitive issues. He was looking for a mentor, Sonny was there, and it worked well for him. Too bad. He’d make an excellent cop. Jason says he’ll try not be offended.

The doctor asks if Dante had the dream again, and Dante says he has it every night. Sometimes, he has it when he’s awake. He thinks about what he’s done to his wife – his ex-wife. He could hurt her, and if he stayed in Port Charles, she’d never stop thinking that one day he could recover, unless she faced what happened. The alternative is living there. 

Lucy comes back with Maxie, and says, after a spirited conversation with her wonderful partner, she has something to tell them. Maxie says, fine. She’ll work with the two of them, but not while Brook has that smug smile and makes snarky comments about Lulu. Brook tells Maxie, she has nothing bad to say about Lulu; Lulu speaks for herself. Valentin asks if they’re back in business, and Maxie says, yes. Lucy welcomes Brook to the Deception family, and Brook says she’s super excited to be there. Lucy says, on that note, she’s going to skedaddle out of there. The Nurses Ball isn’t going to organize itself. Ta! Maxie follows her out, saying she wants a word with Lucy. Valentin tells Brook, they did it, and she says, they sure did. Does he want to have a celebratory drink? He says he’ll meet her upstairs. After she leaves, Valentin thanks Sasha for her support. Sasha says she didn’t say much, and he says she didn’t say no. How is she? She says she’s trying to throw herself into the life she has left, and he says, her work? He does that. Unfortunately, no amount of success will fill the void Nina left. Maybe she’ll have more luck.

Sam tells Carly that she was trying get leverage over her parole officer; something she could use to get Delores to back away. So Spinelli tailed her. They good news was, she was having an affair; the bad news was, she caught Spinelli getting blackmail photos. Delores told Spinelli if anyone found out about the affair, she’d throw him in jail. Now Delores hates her more than ever, and Delores controls her more than ever. She can’t believe she took that kind of risk. She says Carly can laugh if she wants, but Carly asks if anyone ever told Sam how she and Sonny got married the first time. Sam doesn’t think so, and Carly says she wanted to help Sonny, so she disguised herself, wore a wire, and went after an enemy of Sonny’s. Sonny busted in where she was, and wanted a meeting. She was the only material witness in a racketeering charge, and the only way to stop them calling her to testify… Sam says, was to marry him. Carly says, wives can’t be forced to testify against their husbands. She helped, but not in the way she thought she would. Sonny married her five times, so she must have done something right. The marriage was the best thing to happen to her. Sam says, some things work out for the best in ways they never anticipated.  

Jason goes to the garage, and asks Brando if the stabilizer came in. Brando knows Jason wanted to put it in himself, and says he hopes he didn’t overstep, but he enjoys working on Harleys, and did the installation. Jason asks what he owes Brando, and Brando says, nothing. Jason already paid for the stabilizer, and the work is free. Jason says he won’t stay in business long that way, and Brando says, it’s a nice bike. He was glad to work on it. Jason says, you’re welcome. Brando says he had two visitors today. Lulu had a flat tire, and Cyrus showed up. He made a point to mention Lulu’s mother to her, and there was a weird vibe. Jason asks, who left first? and Brando says, Lulu. Jason says, if Cyrus comes back, he wants to know. Brando says, he will.

Curtis goes to the PCPD, and asks Chase if Jordan is back. Chase says, no. The last time he saw her she was at the courthouse, talking to Jason. He’d been questioning Jason about a case, and she stepped in. She asked Jason to wait, but he’s not sure what that was about. Curtis says he’ll track her down, and thanks Chase. Chase leaves, and Curtis takes out his phone.

Cyrus wanders around his new place. Jordan arrives, and he says, right on time; he’s pleased. Jordan says his guard frisked her, and he says, that’s the way of the world now. If only it was like when they first met, but then it wasn’t the way it seemed then either. She tells him to make it quick. He wants her help to get control of GH. He says he hasn’t told her how, and she says, he didn’t say why either. What does a man like him want with the hospital?

At the hospital, Maxie tells the reception nurse that she doesn’t have an appointment, but she’d like to see her OB/GYN. Lucy runs into Lulu, who says she’s there to interview some board members about  GH’s finances. Lucy says she hopes Lulu realizes what an amazing, loyal friend Maxie is. Lulu says, Maxie is the best, and Lucy says, Maxie nearly jeopardized the launch of Deception defending Lulu against some admittedly snarky remarks. Lulu says, by who? Don’t tell her. Brook said something about Dante. Lucy says, his name was brought up, and Lulu says, unbelievable. Brook is constantly throwing Dante in her face, when she knows nothing about the end of their marriage. Obviously, it gets to her more than she’d care to admit. Lucy says, if it helps, Maxie had her back, and Lulu says, it does help. Lucy says she didn’t know Dante all that well, but she can say with confidence, he’d want Lulu to be happy – whatever that means to her.

The doctor says he can help Dante get better, but he has to trust the process. Dante says he can’t risk it. He has a ticking time bomb in his head. The doctor has seen it go off, and Dante never wants anyone to see it again. This way, they’ll be safer. The doctor refuses to give up hope, and says Dante hasn’t given up on himself. Why else would he keep a pad and pencil. There must be someone he wishes to reach out to after all. Dante flashes back to Lulu telling him that she’ll wait forever; it’s no life without him there. He remembers saying goodbye, telling her that he loves her, and walking out. Dante says if the pencil and pad is causing the doctor to have false expectations, take it out of there. The doctor says he’s leaving it. He sincerely hopes Dante changes his mind before it’s too late.  

Chase sees Sasha outside the courtroom. She says she was hoping to run into him. Has he heard anything? He says he hasn’t, and Sasha says imagine if they broke their hearts for nothing. Chase says, as crappy as it sounds, it helps on some level to know she’s as miserable as he is. They really did this for the right reason, but it’s easy to forget. Sasha agrees, and Chase says he knows Michael and Willow are the best parents for Wiley. Sasha says, if they found a way to prove it to the judge, it will have worked, so it will be worth it. I’m thinking, Sasha is high. She just has that vibe.

Curtis calls Jordan, but she doesn’t pick up.  

Cyrus tells Jordan, he’s demonstrated that he’s a good person. Jordan says, he’s not; he’s a drug trafficker. He says the board will learn that he deserves grace, and the best insurance policy was a friend in law enforcement. That’s why they’re going to spend time together. Jordan tells him, he finally said it. He called because he can, and she showed up. He says she has a gift of seeing to the heart of the matter.

Brook and Valentin sit at a table in the MetroCourt. She says, if they’re going to work together, she needs to know one thing. Will he be as good for ELQ as he is for her? He says, even better.

Sam tells Carly that she doesn’t want to ever struggle with those questions. God forbid the worst happens, she doesn’t want to tell Danny she chose to let his dad die. Carly is glad Sam sees it that way, and Sam says she’s glad Jason chose Carly. Carly says, don’t worry, and Sam says, there’s nothing to worry about. Nothing is going to happen to Jason.

Jason lies on the road, unconscious, his bike laying next to him.

Tomorrow, Robert is sure he’ll find an empty grave, Carly wants Peter’s full attention, Sonny knows Mike is close to the end, and Cyrus tells Jordan to make sure something doesn’t happen.

LuAnn says Leah can’t do this in front of other people, and Leah asks if LuAnn means lifting her skirt up so they could see her bodysuit. In Leah’s interview, she can’t believe anyone would think she’d purposely show her vagina to Ramona’s friends. It’s disgusting. She says, Ramona needs to keep my vagina out of her mouth. LuAnn wonders what Sonja’s drink tastes like, and takes a sip. She makes a face, and says she has no idea what it is, but it’s disgusting. Dorinda tells them that she got Sonja to bed. Now she’s going to see where Ramona is. LuAnn says, okay, Mama Dee.

Dorinda finds Ramona on an outside lounge chair, and asks if she’s okay. Ramona says, Sonja is a mess. Dorinda has been a mess. Dorinda says she hasn’t, but Ramona has, and she’s put Ramona to bed. Ramona tells her not to scream (she wasn’t). She can’t be around them anymore. She gets up, and tells Dorinda, drink some water. In Ramona’s interview, she says whenever Dorinda hears something she doesn’t like, she deflects. She’s full of sh*t. Ramona says Leah, Dorinda, and Sonja should go to AA. Dorinda says Ramona should be ashamed. She came to talk as a friend. She goes back to the table, and tells LuAnn and Leah that Ramona told her that she was drunk, when strangely, she’s not. She told Dorinda to go to AA. In LuAnn’s interview, she says, there’s a difference between being concerned, and telling someone to go to AA. It’s totally patronizing, and to say that to Dorinda is a low blow. Dorinda says Ramona also accused her of being drunk at the Halloween party. We flash back to that, and Dorinda tells them, you don’t say that to a friend. LuAnn says she’s been to AA, and she wouldn’t say that. She’s known Dorinda for twenty years, and would never say she’s a drunk. Dorinda says, not tonight. In her interview, LuAnn says she’s not touching that with a ten-foot pole. Ramona should know if you play with fire, you’ll get burned. Dorinda asks for another drink.  

LuAnn finds Ramona, still lounging, and drinking water. Ramona says she’s the only one who’s straight, and LuAnn says she knows how Dorinda gets, and told her to go to AA. Ramona says she thinks Dorinda drinks too much. In LuAnn’s interview, she says, stop name calling. Tell Sonja that she has a problem, and Dorinda had to put her to bed. Back at the table, Dorinda starts to cry, and says Ramona hurt her feelings. Leah says, don’t let her; it’s not worth it. LuAnn tells Ramona, they’re serving tequila. Ramona says Dorinda has a problem, and doesn’t want to admit it, but Sonja has a problem too. And Leah. Ramona says she doesn’t want to drink anymore. LuAnn says Ramona claimed Leah was on medication, and she’s fine. Ramona says Leah had a problem before, and Dorinda plays holier than thou. Ramona admits she’s not perfect, but Dorinda is bitter and angry. LuAnn says they’ve seen it before, and Ramona says the two of them are normal in comparison to everyone there; it’s scary. In her interview, LuAnn says, normal is not a word that comes to mind when she thinks of Ramona. Ramona says she’s going to bed. At the table, Leah says she wants to enjoy the trip, and Dorinda says she’s afraid to be judged. Leah says Ramona crossed the line, saying she was on medication. In Dorinda’s interview, she says she wants to tell Leah not to pay attention, but at the same time she’d be pissed. LuAnn comes back, and asks, what’s happening? and Dorinda says her feelings are hurt. LuAnn says, it’s been a long day, and they can’t be trying to make it right. Leah asks, what happened? and Dorinda wonders if LuAnn asked Ramona about judging her on her drinking. LuAnn went to jail. Ramona doesn’t judge her, and LuAnn almost went back to jail again when she broke parole. In her interview, LuAnn says, it was literally fifteen minutes ago when Dorinda said you don’t shame a friend. It’s hypocritical. We flash back to Dorinda shaming LuAnn a few times, and LuAnn says, since she’s locked up with Dorinda, she’s going to make it nice. For the moment. Dorinda says Ramona accused her under false pretenses. She didn’t go to jail or break probation, and LuAnn tells her, this isn’t nice. Why is Dorinda getting angry at her? Don’t kill the messenger. In her interview, Dorinda says she can’t have a conversation with Ramona. She deflects, and it’s your fault; you’re the problem. She doesn’t need this bitch to tell her where she is on her journey. Dorinda says, Ramona is the one who comes home at 4 am, and LuAnn tells her, like her mother said, nothing good happens after midnight.

Leah uses a roller on her face, and calls her sister Sarah. Dorinda comes into Leah’s room, and Leah asks if Dorinda remembers what she said to LuAnn. Dorinda says LuAnn was the one who went to jail, so don’t be endorsing what Ramona said. Leah says LuAnn was just the messenger, and just telling her what Ramona said. Dorinda tells her, LuAnn has said it in the past. She wasn’t drunk then, and she wasn’t drunk last night. She only had three spritzers. That’s like when the defendant says they only had a couple of beers on People’s Court, and you know they had a whole case. In Leah’s interview, she says she was the most sober last night, and LuAnn said nothing like that. Dorinda can’t be wrong ever, but she’s wrong. Dorinda says she’s not letting this turn into something about her; it’s deflection. Ramona was saying she should go to AA. Leah says she doesn’t want to talk about AA on this trip. She actually went there.

Sonja tosses her shoes into a pile. Ramona comes in, saying, it’s a gorgeous day. Sonja says she went to take one of her water pills, and she googled it. It’s also called a drunken sailor pill. It dehydrates you, and if you drink, makes it worse. Ramona says she doesn’t care what medication someone is on. If you take alcohol with it, the medication makes it worse. In her interview, she wonders what Sonja was thinking, and tells Sonja that she doesn’t need them. In Sonja’s interview, she says, of course she was walking like a drunken sailor. It said the pill was a diarrhetic. Ramona says, at dinner, it got uncomfortable. She wants a one-on-one with Leah. Sonja says, Leah didn’t do anything, and Ramona says she needed to feel out her feelings. What?

LuAnn works out on a treadmill, while Leah does free weights. She asks Leah how it went, and Leah says she told Dorinda that LuAnn was just relaying what Ramona said. Ramona is deflecting from the real situation. LuAnn says it’s not about Ramona; it’s about her. Dorinda can be mad at Ramona, but don’t it take out on her. Leah says, it needs to be nipped in the bud. In LuAnn’s interview, she says she wants Dorinda to understand she’s hurt. It’s a sore subject, and she’s got to get to Dorinda at the right time, in the right place. When she’s not drinking. They talk about their upcoming camel ride. In LuAnn’s  She hasn’t been on a camel since the hiccup in Marrakech. She’s scared, but she’s getting back on that hump. Leah doesn’t want to be in the sun LuAnn sees Ramona and Sonja in the kitchen, and Ramona says, it’s a new day; it’s like nothing happened. The chef is making omelets, and LuAnn says, they’re in Mexico, and have to have huevos rancheros. LuAnn tells Ramona let thing with Leah go; there’s another issue with Dorinda. After Ramona left, Dorinda called LuAnn out, saying she’s the one who went to jail, and tried to make her ashamed of herself, like she didn’t suffer enough. She doesn’t think Dorinda remembers. She knows it’s not about her, but it’s still hurtful. Ramona says, it’s an anger management problem, and in her interview, she says, Dorinda doesn’t realize how much she’s hurting her friends. We flash back to Dorinda’s nastier moments. Ramona says, when Dorinda drinks, her anger accelerates; anger plus drinking equals a really mean Dorinda.

Leah joins them, and Ramona eyeballs her. She sidles over, and says when Leah’s ready, she’d love to have a conversation. Leah suggests they do it now, and they go outside to sit. In Ramona’s interview, she says she’s not going to change Leah, and doesn’t want to harbor anger. It’s time they moved on. Ramona says she thinks she holds Leah to a higher bar. She believes in Leah as a person, and sees she has potential. There’s a side she adores, but one there’s one she doesn’t. She talked to Leah about the party, and had asked her to put her 30 year old self away, and be more demure, so she was hurt and disappointed. Those are her feelings. Leah says, feelings aren’t facts. She wants to know what she did. Ramona must have been angry to talk about mental health issues. Ramona apologizes (yawn), saying she’s sorry she made Leah uncomfortable, and that she let her feelings and expectations color things. Leah suggests they go forward, and says when it comes to the perception of Ramona’s friends, who gives a sh*t? Ramona says she let her own head get in the way. In Leah’s interview, she says Ramona knows she’s wrong deep down, and won’t admit it, but she’s not wasting her energy and time dragging it out of her. She’s letting it go. Leah says, let’s eat, have fun, and enjoy the day. Ramona admits she made a mountain out of a molehill.

Ramona says, it’s a new day; they should all celebrate. Dorinda says, she doesn’t care about last night. She wants to put it behind her and have fun. Sonja threw out pill explains that her water pills are also called drunken syndrome sailor because they exacerbate the effects of drinking. In her interview, Dorinda says she just wants Sonja to be happy, and have no more of these episodes. It worries her. Leah says they’re doing a reset, and LuAnn is thrilled with her attitude. In her interview, LuAnn says Dorinda can try to sweep things under the rug, but they’re still there. They’re not under the rug .Leah goes to take a shower. LuAnn asks if they’re wearing bathing suits under their clothes for the camel ride. Dorinda says they have a cabana on the beach for afterward. In Dorinda’s interview, she says, today is about Mexico, not about what happened yesterday. She doesn’t care. LuAnn tells Dorinda that she talked to Ramona, and Dorinda says she’s over it. LuAnn says, Ramona should let it go, and Dorinda says Ramona listens to LuAnn. Leah is a nice girl. They’re all different, and that’s what makes it good.

They get in limo, and Sonja says her stomach is sloshing. Ramona is worried that Sonja has gas, but Sonja says, it’s a different thing. Dorinda is excited about tonight. She heard the food at the restaurant is delish. It’s a nice place, and they can dress up. Ramona says, they can be festive. In Dorinda’s interview, she says Sonja doesn’t realize, they’re not going on a local outing. They’re celebrating Sonja’s birthday. Drinking, dancing, and laughter; she deserves it. The limo stops at Moroma Beach, and they get out. In her interview, Leah says she’s had a camel ride before, and didn’t feel the need to do it again, but since the others want to, let’s do it. LuAnn says she’s having flashbacks, and we see a flashback of LuAnn being bounced around by a camel. Dorinda wants the one that’s lying down. Leah says she has a camel toe right now, and it’s killing her. Dorinda tells the guide, it’s not Leah’s first time, and asks if they have to date them a little first. When Sonja sees Ramona’s shorts, she tells Ramona, no more macramé. They get on the camels, and the guide tells them to hold on and lean back. Leah says, Dorinda is a natural, and Dorinda says she’s ridden a camel or two in her day. In Dorinda’s interview, she says this is nothing compared to the beasts she’s ridden. She even married a few. Ramona refuses to ride. After she saw LuAnn in Morocco, she said never again. Ramona takes pictures, and Sonja says, she doesn’t want the feisty one. In Sonja’s interview, she says, she and camels just don’t go together. She’s getting on a camel that doesn’t seem to want to know her. Sonja calls for someone to take her down. She’s sweating, nervous, and going to fall. Leah warns her that the camel senses her energy. Dorinda is proud of LuAnn for getting back on the hump. LuAnn says, it feels good.  

Sonja screams she’s getting off. Dorinda is happy, and likes it. Leah says, time to get off, and jumps down. Even though these are very tall camels, and at least six feet. She says she’s not screwing around. LuAnn says they’ve lost a couple. In her interview, Leah says she thought camel riding was something you do in Dubai, not Mexico. Never again. Ramona, Sonja, and Leah head for the beach. Leah says she’s all about getting out of situations; she’s not waiting for help. Dorinda is camel proud, and says Ramona is being snobbish. Sonja tells Ramona, they got ones the others didn’t want to be on. In LuAnn’s interview, she says she got back the on hump, and lived to tell the story. She fist bumps the camera. Dorinda suggests they go to the cabana.  

The cabana is beautiful; sort of like a round wooden birdcage. Inside, there’s an exquisitely set table waiting for them. Sonja says the camels are behind her. Look at the gorgeous table, flowers, and view. That’s what she’s here for. She says LuAnn looks like a Bond girl, and she does. They have lunch, and the salad is served in bottles that have been halved. LuAnn wants to talk to Dorinda, and in her interview, she says the camel ride was a good bonding experience for her and Dorinda. It’s a good moment for them to talk. She’s nervous, but needs to do it, and Dorinda is open to it. LuAnn says she doesn’t know if Dorinda remembers what she said last night. You can see by Dorinda’s body language that she’s immediately defensive, and she tells LuAnn, stop. She had three spritzers. Honestly, I always wonder if these women know they’re being recorded. She might have had three spritzers, but that was in addition to tequila and God knows what else. They’re not talking about her drinking. LuAnn says Dorinda brought it up. Ramona is still upset about Halloween. Dorinda says LuAnn made a comment that she’d gotten drunk in the past. Come on now. Is she saying she’s never been drunk? Again, does she know we’re watching her life on TV? In LuAnn’s interview, she says, that never happened. Dorinda is making sh*t up to make herself feel better, and putting it on her. She tells Dorinda that she didn’t bring up drinking. Dorinda asked her, what happened? she told Dorinda what Ramona said, and Dorinda attacked her. Dorinda says, that’s LuAnn’s truth. See? That’s exactly why I don’t like that your/my truth business. While it can be colored by perspective, there’s the truth, and there isn’t. LuAnn tells Dorinda that what she said was hurtful. Dorinda says, don’t talk about her drinking. LuAnn went to jail, and said it could happen to anybody. Is Dorinda drunk now? Because she’s not making any sense. LuAnn says, then why does Dorinda keep throwing it in her face? They agree not talk about each other’s drinking. Dorinda says she always supports LuAnn, and LuAnn says she supports Dorinda too. She doesn’t want to keep thinking about going to jail. She’s suffered enough. In her interview, LuAnn say she just wants Dorinda to give her a little something, but she won’t budge. It’s hard to have a relationship with someone like that. LuAnn asks if the women want to skedaddle, and that’s the second time I’ve heard that word today.

LuAnn and Ramona check out a bunch of dudes playing a volleyball game. LuAnn wants to play, but Ramona says she’ll just watch. LuAnn says she’s good at volleyball, and then proceeds to stink. When she hits the net the second time the ball bounces back and hits her, knocking her down. Everyone laughs. She finally gets one over the net, and Ramona says she got him flustered. LuAnn says, it’s the bikini.

The women go back to Vila casa del mar, and get dressed for dinner. Leah shows everyone the pictures she took. Dorinda is excited, saying Sonja usually stays in the background, but tonight she’s going to be recognized, and know that they see her and love her. When they get to the restaurant, Dorinda tells Sonja, if she thought today was fun, it’s her birthday! In her interview, Sonja says she’s blown away. Being with the girls means more than a big party. They dance around, and Sonja says it comes from the heart and she’s feeling it. A guy comes out balancing a bottle of tequila on his head, while carrying a tray of shots. In LuAnn’s interview, she says she’s been served tequila in some strange places, but never off a man’s head. She dances with him, and he comes up to about boob height on her. Sonja says, LuAnn is going to swoop him up like King Kong, and take him home.

Dorinda announces, it’s a special night for a special girl. They love Sonja, and 2020 is going to be her year. Ha! That’s what we all thought. They toast to happiness and freedom. In Sonja’s interview, she says it’s nice of Dorinda to plan this. She doesn’t need 50 girlfriends. Ramona, take notes for next year. Leah says LuAnn’s dancing partner is the size of a puppy. He takes their orders, and brings back a stack of Margaritas on his head. Leah wonders how they get them off, and he squats down so they can take them one at a time. LuAnn says she’s never had a Margarita off a man’s head, and Dorinda asks if she’s sure about that. In Dorinda’s interview, she says, these women have been all over the world, but this restaurant holds joy. Sonja is smiling ear to ear, and this is what life’s about. Leah says a guy at the bar is giving her Pablo Escobar vibes, and Dorinda tells her not to assume he’s a criminal. Ramona and Leah discuss online dating. Ramona says she tried it a year ago, but it didn’t work. Dorinda says, it shouldn’t be so complicated, and Leah says she’s the same way. She and Ramona shake hands. Leah says they can’t meet their equals; they’re too unique and different. Ramona says they all have emotional insecurities. Leah wonders how Ramona could have forgiven Mario, and Ramona says she thought of her daughter, and realized the worst thing would be to harbor hate. Leah says Ramona loved her daughter more than herself, and knew it was the best thing. It’s still hard, and a lot of people can’t do it. In Leah’s interview, she says, a lot of women who’ve been cheated on, never want to look at the guy again, and rightly so. She says she respects Ramona. She was willing to forgive Mario for the betterment of the family. Ramona wonders what’s next for her; she doesn’t know. Leah says it’s an exciting time for Ramona. She has all the money she needs, and can do what she wants. In Dorinda’s interview, she says, everybody thought the guy with the five drinks on his head was the highlight of the evening, but just wait. She and Dorinda slip off to the bathroom. Leah tells Ramona, there’s something powerful about being a mother. Ramona says she’s always been a caregiver. Sonja says, she’s not. LuAnn comes out, wearing a jacket that lights up, and a sombrero. She says Sonjarita is her friend, and sings Happy Birthday. Dorinda comes out wearing a fake big boob top and a gold turban, bearing a cake with sparklers. Sonja motorboats Dorinda’s shirt, and a mariachi band plays.

Sonja says she’s loving it. Leah thinks the waiter is an amazing man. He might be only three feet tall, but has the aura of someone six foot seven. Leah tells Sonja, happy birthday, and talks about Sonja’s tight p*ssy. Ramona tells Leah, that she doesn’t want to talk about body parts; she wants to get along. Leah promises to only talk about her perfect p*ssy. Ramona gets up, and Leah follows her. In Ramona’s interview, she says, this is the Leah she doesn’t enjoy, but she can walk away, and it will diffuse. At her birthday, there were 70 women, and she couldn’t ignore it. Ramona tells Leah, don’t talk body parts, and Leah says, stop it right now. Ramona says she’s a good Catholic girl, and she doesn’t talk about that. Then a spaceship comes down to get her. It might as well, since she’s on another planet. Leah tells Ramona, she can try and hide, but her turtle times are liked. In Leah’s interview, she says, Ramona isn’t some delicate virgin flower. When she wants to talk about sex, she does. We flash back to several times where Ramona did talk about that, and Leah says, but if she talks about anything related to sex, she’s treated like a serial killer. Leah goes back to the table, and says, she understands she embarrassed everyone. LuAnn asks what Ramona said, and Leah tells her, Ramona claims to be a prude. Dorinda says, that’s bullsh*t. Leah says once again, she’s held to a different standard. In Dorinda’s interview, she says she’s not supporting Ramona, but she does think Leah is poking the bear.

Ramona comes back, kisses the top of Leah’s head, says she loves her, and they’ll talk tomorrow. Dorinda says she’s proud of Ramona. In Ramona’s interview, she says she thinks Leah looks to her for approval, and wants to test boundaries. So she gave her a kiss to disarm her. LuAnn says that a dish is spicy, and Leah says, she likes spicy… d*ck. LuAnn says, she can’t help herself, and Ramona says, God help her.

Next time, LuAnn finds a guy, Dorinda isn’t well, more sparklers, LuAnn tries to hook up Sonja, the women attend some kind of ritual, and Ramona and LuAnn discuss Dorinda’s drinking, then confront her. I’m sure that will go well.    

💿 For the Record…

On Watch What Happens Live, LuAnn was the sole (remote) guest, and the 200th episode of RHONY was celebrated. Various people from days gone by made appearances, and one of them was Tomas, the pirate LuAnn may or may not have slept with. According to Tomas, they did not sleep together. I’m not sure if he was just being a gentleman, but case closed.

🧗‍♀️ Almost Made It…

After two days of the power going in and out, we lost it altogether tonight. Somehow, I was still able to get this post together, but tea time will have to wait until tomorrow. To top it off, WordPress has introduced a new editor that I haven’t had time to investigate fully. As far as I can tell, only links are done differently, but I’m so sleep-deprived, I could be hallucinating. Don’t let this happen to you, and stay safe, stay fit, and stay getting enough sleep.
