What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Doc and Laura come out of the hospital elevator, and Valentin thanks them for coming. Laura says, of course (🍷), and Doc asks, where is Charlotte? Valentin says, she’s in surgery, and Laura asks, what happened? Valentin says, she was shot, and Doc and Laura look stunned. Laura asks, who would do something like that? and Valentin says, it was Anna. Laura says, oh my God, no.

Anna stands on the terrace at Sonny’s penthouse. He tells her, good morning, but she’s not sure what’s good about it. He asks if she got any sleep, but she says, every time she closes her eyes, it just plays like a movie in her head, over and over again. Her finger on the trigger, the gun recoiling, the shot. It was just so loud in that small apartment. It just kind of echoed down the hallway. She can still hear it.

Gregory goes to Alexis’s office and says, he wanted to see her? She thanks him for coming, and he asks if everything is all right. She says she needs his input, and he says, she knows how he loves to share his opinion. What’s the problem? She says, it’s a question of journalistic ethics, and he says, that sounds heavy. She says, it is. Is she required to report the shooting of a child?

Jordan comes into the station, and Mac says, they’ve been waiting for her. She says she got there as soon as she could, and he tells her, Dante was the detective on the scene last night. They go into the interrogation room, and Jordan says she has a lot of questions for Dante. Mac says, tell them exactly what happened, and Robert adds, and why it did.

At Volonino’s Gym, Devon, who has prosthetic legs, asks Curtis, where is everybody? The gym seems quiet. Curtis says, this gym is kind of private. His good friend’s husband owns it. Sonny Corinthos? Devon says, Curtis is a lucky guy to have such good friends, and Curtis says, they’ve definitely stuck by him, even though he tried to push them away.

Sam answers a knock at the door, and says, oh my God – Drew! He says, sorry he didn’t call, and she says, it’s really him. They hug, and he asks if it’s a bad time, but she says, no. It’s never a bad time. She can’t believe he’s out of prison.

While he lifts hand weights, Devon says, this is the time you need your friends the most. Why did Curtis push them away? Curtis asks how he does it, and Devon says he thought he was the one asking a question. Curtis says, Devon’s always so positive and upbeat. He doesn’t know if he’d have made it out of rehab without him. Devon says, Curtis put in the work. He just gave Curtis a bit of inspiration. Curtis says, Devon was dealt a bad hand, but always has a smile on his face. What’s his secret? Devon says, Curtis is seeing who he is today. He wasn’t always this way. He had years of bitterness and resentments it’s taken a lifetime of work to overcome. And that work never ends.

Sam asks when Drew got out, and he says, last night. He went to see Carly, and obviously his next stop was to see his girl. He missed Scout like crazy. Is she awake? She says, she’s actually sleeping right now. Scout’s probably exhausted from the Halloween party at Kelly’s, but she can wake Scout up. He says, it’s probably better if she doesn’t. He doesn’t want her to hear this. Carly got a call that Charlotte was shot, and Danny was trick-or-treating with her before it happened. Sam says, yeah. They didn’t know she was shot when they came home last night; they only knew she was missing. Danny was really shaken up. He felt guilty and responsible. He said that he should have been the one that kept Charlotte with them. Drew says, he shouldn’t have to carry all that, and she says she told him that he doesn’t have to take responsibility for his friends, but he felt guilty. He’s just like his father. He wants to save the entire world, but he can’t. He asks if Danny knows Charlotte was shot, and she says, Dante came home this morning to tell him and Rocco. They were dreading it, but they didn’t want him to read it on social media or anything. They thought it was best if it came from them. He says, that had to have been a tough conversation. How was Rocco? She says, it hit hm pretty hard. He broke down in Dante’s arms. All Dante could do was hold him, and she could tell Danny was holding back tears, but he wanted to stay strong. Drew asks if they have someone they can talk to, like a therapist, and she says she already set it up. And she talked to Elizabeth. Jake was at the scene of the shooting. He’s pretty traumatized too. He says, that is a lot to deal with, especially at their age. Please, she’s got to tell him if there’s anything he can do. Now that he’s back, there’s so much he needs to make up for.

Alexis tells Gregory that she doesn’t know all the details, but she knows the identities of those involved, and two of them are members of her family. He asks if everyone’s all right, but she says, no. This was a tragic accident. He asks, what happened? and she says, he’s aware that Anna has been the target of harassment? He says he knows her house was burned down. The police said it was arson. She says, shortly after that, the broke into her hotel and destroyed her clothes and left her a threatening message. He asks how this relates to the shooting of a child, and she says, Anna’s been on edge for months. So last night, she comes home to an intruder in her apartment. So she takes out her gun and fires, straight into Charlotte Cassadine. He says, Valentin’s daughter was the intruder? He finds it hard to imagine a teenage girl breaking into an apartment. (Really? I don’t.) She says, the police are still trying to piece this all together, but the bottom line is, Anna shot an innocent child, so she’s going to have a lot to answer to. (Wow. A lot of assumption on her part.) He says, but the big question is, what was Charlotte doing in that apartment?

Valentin says, so he realized she had to be headed to Anna’s apartment, and Laura asks if he thinks she wanted to leave another threatening message. Doc asks how she got in, but Valentin says he doesn’t know. He doesn’t know what her intentions were, and he doesn’t know what she’s capable of. Laura says, he got there after the shooting? and he says, yeah. He wanted to intercept her, but he was too late. The door was open, and he looked inside, and Anna was leaning over Charlotte.

Robert asks if Dante talked to Anna, and Dante says, she claims when she left her apartment, she locked the door. When she got back around 9:30 pm, the door was unlocked. She drew her gun, she thought she saw an intruder in her apartment with a weapon, she fired. Robert says, let’s talk about the legal culpability here. Could Anna face criminal charges? It’s not against the law to defend your own property with a gun. Jordan says, it depends, and he says, on what? She says, on if Anna could reasonably expect Charlotte to be there. And if that’s the case, Anna could be in real trouble.

Sonny hands Anna a coffee mug, and she thanks him. He says he knows she’s a tea drinker, but he thought she’d need something stronger than that. She says she’s often wondered why Corinthos went for coffee. Out of all the legitimate businesses out there, why did he choose this? He says, Don Corleone had already chosen olive oil, so he wanted the next best thing. He laughs and says, he had a lot of contacts in South America. She says, that doesn’t sound suspicious, but he says, it’s not what she thinks. Most of the coffee in the world is grown there, and it’s a big industry. Remember when all the coffee houses were going up? He wanted to get in before the market flooded. She says, that’s smart, when Nina comes out. She asks if everything is all right, but Anna says, no, it’s not.

Doc asks if Anna said what happened, but Valentin tells him that he didn’t hear anything she said. The paramedics got there right away. Doc asks if Anna went to the police, but Valentin says he doesn’t know. He knows she came here to explain. Laura asks how you explain shooting a 15-year-old girl, and Valentin says he couldn’t talk to her. He couldn’t wrap his head around the idea she’d shoot Charlotte. He still can’t. (Is it me? Why is this all so hard to put together?)

Sonny says, Anna needed a place to stay last night, and she arrived late, and Nina says she knows Anna got a new place. Are they not ready for her to move in yet? Sonny says, it’s not like that, and Anna says she should be the one to tell her. Nina says, tell her what? What’s going on? Anna says, it’s Charlotte, and Nina asks if something happened to Charlotte. Anna starts to cry and says, it was an accident. She shot her.

Mac asks how Charlotte got into the apartment, but Dante says he doesn’t know. Maybe she had a key. There was no sign of forced entry. Like he said before, Anna said she locked the door before she left, and it was unlocked when she got back. Jordan asks if Anna would have given Charlotte a key, but Dante says he doesn’t know. Robert says he can’t imagine she would do that. She just moved into that place. She’s going to say to Charlotte, drop by after you’re finished with Halloween, and by the way, I’ll give you a key? That doesn’t make any sense. Dante says, according to Jake Webber, Charlotte did have a key in her possession. She said it was her key to getting everything she wanted. Mac asks, what the hell does that mean? and Dante says, that’s what he wants to find out. Jordan says, obviously, she had a key to the apartment, but Anna was unaware. That’s why she came in the door shooting. Robert says, well, she wasn’t expecting Charlotte. And he can tell them who she was expecting.

Sam asks if Drew knew he was getting out. Did Diane get a message to him? He says, no. The whole thing was just so sudden. He was sitting on his cot, the guards walked in and said, come on, Cain, let’s go. You’re released. He didn’t even believe it. He didn’t have to get up in front of the prison board; he didn’t have to speak to the warden. Nothing. Next thing he knew, he was in his own clothes and on his way home. She says, Carly must be really excited for him, and he tells her, you could say that. She told him who was responsible for his release. Sam says, who was it? and he says, your mother.

Gregory tells Alexis that they have to assume Charlotte was there uninvited. If Anna was expecting her, she wouldn’t have pulled a gun. Alexis says, that’s why she’s holding off on publishing. They need more facts. They can’t speculate about this. He says, her cousin must be devastated, and she say she hasn’t been able to reach him. Obviously, he’s in agony. He says, if she didn’t know any of the people involved, if they weren’t family, would she publish? She says, this is what she’s been struggling with all morning. Obviously, the shooting of a child is newsworthy. And it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks about the Second Amendment, gun violence is real, and this should be reported. He says, so she’s going to publish it? and she says she thinks she has to. But the victim is a minor and out of respect for her family, she’s not going to mention any names. He says, she’s making a good call on a difficult story, and Alexis looks like she has a headache. I disagree with that call. I think she was right the first time. They need more facts. For instance, it’s not like Charlotte was shot in her own home. She let herself into an apartment where she wasn’t invited. In the dark. In a Hermit costume.

Curtis says, a lifetime of work. He’s not sure he has the stamina for that. Devon says, it’s perfectly normal to doubt yourself, just keep pushing through it. Curtis says, but how do you do it? Devon makes it look so easy, and Curtis knows he’s going to have a struggle on his hands. Devon says, they both have disabilities, but they’re coming from very different places. He was born without legs. He doesn’t know what it’s like to walk without prosthetics. Curtis went from an active, vital man to a wheelchair. That’s a huge adjustment. He still has times of frustration and resentment. Does Curtis know how hard it was to watch the other kids run around the playground? Curtis says he’s sorry. He had no idea. He feels selfish complaining right now, but Devon tells him not to feel sorry for him. There are plenty of times he does that for himself. He tries not to wallow in it. Like it or not, it’s who he is. Just focus on moving forward. Curtis says he’s not sure he knows how to do that.

Alexis hangs up the phone and tells Gregory that she really hopes she’s making the right call. He says, she is. Don’t second guess herself. She says she’s been consumed with this all morning. She didn’t even ask. How is he feeling? Or is that a stupid question to ask somebody with ALS? He laughs and says, no. He appreciates it. Most people just tap-dance around the subject. They’re afraid to ask like it’s some dirty little secret. He’s happy with the new specialist Finn recommended. He’s a straightshooter; he doesn’t sugarcoat anything. He says Gregory’s ALS is progressing, but it’s impossible to put a timeframe on it. So he has no idea how long it’s going to be before he’s in a wheelchair. He gets up and says, which is why he needs to get moving on his bucket list. Has she changed her mind about skydiving?

Scout comes downstairs, and says, daddy? You’re home! She runs to him, and he picks her up, hugging her. Sam smiles.

Dante says, that’s some pretty cryptic sounding stuff, but Robert says he can’t tell them everything. Some of it’s classified Bureau stuff. Jordan says, he has to tell him everything he knows, and Robert says, Anna dug up this old document, which has the name of a former agent attached to it. She figured this guy has been stalking her. Dante asks if Robert has seen the document, and Robert says, Anna laid out what her theory was, and he agreed. Mac says, so this mystery person is still out there, and Robert says, yeah, and he can pull this again. But this time, it might be fatal. This guy’s prepared to do whatever’s necessary to suppress this information. Jordan says, so that means Anna definitely wasn’t expecting Charlotte to be at her apartment, and Robert says, correct. She entered the apartment, saw this figure holding what looked like a weapon, and figured, this person’s going to kill me. So she exercised the only option she had, which was to shoot. Soap looks all around.

Valentin tells Laura and Doc that Dr. Gatlin-Holt went right to work on Charlotte when they arrived. He must have gotten some information, but he couldn’t process it or tell them what was said. He doesn’t know where Charlotte was shot. What if it’s near the heart? Laura says, they don’t know any of that. Try not to speculate. It’s just going to make him crazy. He says, all he knows is that the bullet is still inside of her, and they’re going to remove it, and they’re going to repair the damage, but he can’t get his head around the idea. Doc says, let him see what he can find out, and Laura says she’ll go with him, unless Valentin wants her to stay, but Valentin says, go. They leave, and he takes out his phone. His thumb hovers over Anna’s number, and Nina comes out of the elevator. He goes to her, and they hug and cry.

Anna tells Sonny that she just doesn’t understand what Charlotte was doing in that apartment. How did she get in there? There was no sign of forced entry. She had to have used a key. He says he’s assuming Anna didn’t give her a key, and she says, no. She lost her own key. She had to get one from the super. Sonny asks if she knows what Charlotte was doing before she shot her, and Anna shakes her head. She says, there was a figure with a hood bending over this trunk that she has, and then they turned, and she saw what she thought was a weapon. He says, that’s understandable. She felt threatened. She says she’s been so on edge lately; she jumps at the slightest thing. Sonny was right. She should never have gotten rid of the bodyguard. If he had been there, this wouldn’t have happened. He says, she can’t blame herself, and she asks what he’s talking about. If she – Anna chokes up – if Charlotte… If Charlotte doesn’t make it, it’s her fault. He puts his arm around her as she cries.

Valentin thanks Nina for coming, and she says, of course (🍷). They’re in this together. She’s not letting him go through this alone. He says, this is his fault, but she says, feeling guilty is only going to make this more difficult. He says, if he’d warned Anna that Charlotte was her stalker right away, this never would have happened; she’d have never pulled a gun. Nina says, Valentin made a mistake not telling Anna right away, but Anna made a big mistake and Charlotte did too. (Why are they blaming Anna so hard? The flashlight did look like a gun.) He says, she’s a child, and Nina says she understands that, but her point is, there’s a lot of guilt to go around. He doesn’t have to carry the burden all by himself. Speculating on what he should have done isn’t going to make the situation any easier. He says, they should have confronted Charlotte the moment they saw that security footage, and she hustles him over to the waiting area, suggesting they not talk about the footage. It’s gone. He says, what if his daughter is gone? and they sit. Nina says, they have to be positive. Charlotte is alive. She’s a fighter. They have to believe in her. They have to believe she’s going to make it.

Anna tells Sonny that she’s a professional. She’s been trained in firearms. She knows when to shoot and when not to shoot. He tells her not to beat herself up, and she says she went into that apartment like she was on a mission; like she expected to be fired at. But she wasn’t. She was a 15-year-old girl. He says, she didn’t know that, and she cries some more. She says she saw movement and she reacted. She didn’t stop and access the situation the way she’s been trained to at the Academy. Not shoot first and ask questions later. Maybe she didn’t see movement. Maybe she just imagined it. But she did fire and she hit her target. And they went down, and they didn’t move. It seemed like it was in slow motion, but it could have only taken two seconds. And Jake came and said Charlotte’s name… That’s when she realized what she’d done. She begins to weep again.

Mac tells Dante to go home and get some rest, and Jordan thanks him. She knows things were intense when he was on administrative leave, but she’s glad to have him back. Dante says, just keep him updated on Charlotte’s condition, and he leaves. In the squad room, an officer tells Dante, CSI sent this up. He gives Dante an envelope and says, the inventory on Charlotte Cassadine’s back. Dante thanks him and starts flipping through it.

Alexis says she would do anything to support Gregory, but she’s not jumping out of a plane. Please don’t make her. She’s afraid of heights and she still doesn’t understand how planes stay up in the air (ha-ha! she’s me), and she doesn’t understand how anyone would think jumping out of a plane would be fun. Really. What’s wrong with them? He laughs and says, it’s supposed to be an exhilarating feeling, but he’s going to let her off the hook. She agreed to ax throwing and hot yoga, so he’s not going to push this one. Besides – he takes a paper out of his pocket and unfolds it – he thinks he still has some less risky items on his list. She says, good. Her stomach thanks him. He says, she’s in the clear. He knows she has a lot to do, so he’s going to take off. She thanks him for the talk, but he says, she doesn’t have to thank him. She says she appreciates that and thanks him again. He leaves.

Scout says she’s so happy Drew’s home. She missed him so much. He says he missed her too. He thought about her every single day. They hug, and she says, really? He says, every hour of every day. He couldn’t wait to get home to her. She asks if it’s over. Does he have to go back to prison? He says, no. He’s here to stay. And you know what made him feel so much better when he was gone? The plaque she got for swimming. Scout says, Sam really gave it to him? and Sam says she told Scout that she was going to. Drew says he’s so proud of her. Next season, he’s going to be at every single meet, he promises. She asks if he got out in time to go trick-or-treating, but he says, the lights were turned out by then. She says, that’s okay, because she got a whole bunch of candy for him. He says, that’s his girl, and she asks if he wants some now. She got all his favorites. Sam says she thinks it’s a little early for candy, and Drew says, maybe she’s right. How about if Scout gets dressed, because there’s something really important that he needs her help with. Scout says, okay, and goes upstairs.

Devon says, for Curtis to move forward, he needs to talk about his feelings and share his experience with others. If he keeps it in and hides it from the people who love him, it will destroy him. So let it out. Let his beautiful family see who he is now.

Dante comes home and tells Sam that he wishes he was still on administrative leave. Then he wouldn’t be having to deal with this. He saw Charlotte on a gurney. She asks if there’s any update on Charlotte’s condition, but he says, she’s still in surgery as far as he knows. This whole thing is unbelievable. How are Rocco and Danny? He can’t believe he had to go back to work after telling them about Charlotte. She says, they were still a mess, and they didn’t want to stay at the house. They needed a distraction, so she let them go to their friend’s house. Drew got out of prison. Scout’s with him now. Dante says, that’s good news, and she asks how it went at the station. He says, taking statements, bagging evidence… A 15-year-old girl’s been shot. None of this makes any sense at this point. It’s someone close to them too. He knows it’s extenuating circumstances, but try telling that to Anna, the one who pulled the trigger.

Anna tells Sonny, this is so surreal. It’s like she was outside of her body watching everything. Then inside her head, she was screaming, no, no, no. Please don’t let it be Charlotte, but she knew it was her. He says, unfortunately, he knows the feeling. When Dante first came to town, he didn’t know Dante was his son, because originally, Dante kept it from him for years. He didn’t know Dante was an undercover cop. So Dante gained his trust and arrested him. And he shot Dante, point blank. She says she did hear about that. That must have been just awful. Sonny says, he was bleeding out on the floor. Olivia came in. She yelled out, you shot your own son. So he knows about that moment. It’s the shot that’s unbearable. She says, even before she took the hood off of Charlotte, she thought, this is such a tiny figure lying here, and the weapon, it was a flashlight she was carrying. He says, she didn’t know that. So then her survival instincts kicked in. She scrunches down in the chair and says, this is such a nightmare. How could she have been so reckless to have fired on an unarmed child? She doesn’t know how she’s going to live with that. She doesn’t know how.

Jordan says, there’s something they need to discuss, and it’s right in this room. Mac says, what? and she says, us. Mac’s acting Police Commissioner, Robert’s the DA, she’s the Deputy Mayor. They all have closer relationship to Anna. Robert says he was married to her – he laughs – twice. She says, even Dante, who was the first investigator on the scene, has a close relationship with Anna. She just doesn’t want anyone thinking this is a cover-up. Mac says, there’s nothing to cover up. They’re not hiding anything. Nor are they giving Anna any preferential treatment. Jordan says she gets that, but they all need to recognize their connections to Anna might compromise the case. Robert asks what she’s suggesting, and she says, that they might have to bring in an outside investigator.

Curtis asks, what about Devon? Does he have any kids? Devon says, two incredible sons. They’re his whole world. They’re devoted to each other. He’s proud to say they’re great human beings. Curtis says he doesn’t doubt that they are. He has a daughter, a lovely wife, his dad, his auntie, his nephew… He has really good friends who he calls family, so he guesses that makes it a big family. Devon says, it’s time to let them in. Let them see who he really is.

Doc tells Laura that he’s sorry. He wishes he could have found out more. She says, that’s okay. She’s sure Valentin will appreciate the effort. She supposes right now all they can do is wait and pray. Doc says, they’ll need to do a lot more than pray. Charlotte’s in real trouble, and he doesn’t mean medically or legally. That child is broken. She says, then they have to do everything they can to fix her. He says, her physical recovery will be a lot easier than her emotional one, and Laura says she’ll never give up on Charlotte. She cries and he holds her.

On the phone, Alexis says, get them to her as soon as she can. Scout comes in and she says she’s got to run. She asks what Scout is doing here, hugging her, and Scout says she has a big surprise for Alexis. Alexis says, bigger than her showing up here on her own? Scout says, yep, and she’s not here on her own. Look who she brought with her. Drew walks in.

Curtis says, his wife keeps asking him how he feels, and Devon asks what he tells her. Curtis says he gives her the same standard answer; it’s all good, babe. But in reality, he’s far from good. Devon says, his wife just wants to help. Keeping her in the dark won’t do either of them any good. Curtis says, he’s right. It’s not fair. From now on, he’s going to tell his wife the truth. He wants to start moving forward. Devon says, okay. Are they done talking now? Let’s get back to work. Curtis says, he’s going to take the tens this time.

Alexis hugs Drew and says she’s so happy to see him. She tells Scout that she was right. This is a big surprise. Drew tells her that it was his idea to see her, but the set-up was all Scout. Alexis asks how happy Scout is to see her daddy, and Scout says, it’s the best. Drew says, it is the best. He got released last night, and he knows she played a pivotal role in that. He thanks her, but she says she’s not taking credit. It was Sonny, it was Carly, it was Diane, it was Gregory… He says he knows they were all involved, but his sources tell him that she was the one to seal the deal, and he’s so grateful. If there’s anything he can do to repay her, she’s got it. She says, the smile on her granddaughter’s face is good enough, and she hugs Scout. She tells Drew, get in here, and they have a three-way hug.

Valentin asks if Doc was able to find out anything, and Doc says he had to leave word for Dr. Gatlin-Holt, but he did speak to the surgical coordinator. Charlotte sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Valentin asks if there’s any word from the OR, but Doc says, nothing yet, and Nina says she’s sure they’ll hear something soon. Laura thanks her for coming, and Nina says she loves Charlotte. She wanted to be here. Valentin asks how Nina knew to come; he didn’t call her. Nina says, Anna slept over at the penthouse, and she didn’t know about Charlotte until this morning. Laura asks, how is Anna? and Nina says, outwardly, she seem calm, but underneath it all, she’s sure Anna is shattered. She thinks Anna’s still in shock. A surgeon approaches them, and Valentin asks, how’s Charlotte? Is his little girl going to be all right?

Dante tells Sam, so Charlotte took off on the kids, and Jake followed her to Anna’s house. Sam wonders how Charlotte got into Anna’s house. She can’t see Charlotte picking a lock. He says, there’s a lot about Charlotte they don’t know. What they do know is, Anna got to her house, the front door was unlocked, there was an intruder in her apartment. She pulled her gun and fired, and it’s not illegal. Sam says, but the intruder was an unarmed teenager, and Dante says, but Anna was threatened. She thought she saw a weapon. Sam says, what baffles her is what Charlotte was doing there in the first place, and he says he has a theory. He doesn’t know if it holds water yet. She asks what he’s got, and he says, they found Charlotte’s backpack. In it was red spray paint and it matched the paint that was on Anna’s front door. Sam says, murderer, and he says, and then Anna’s house burned down.

Sonny tells Anna, there are some burdens that are too heavy to carry, and some mistakes too terrible to live with. She says, but she has to live with this. She doesn’t have a choice. She has to find a way to come to terms with her actions, and she doesn’t know how to do that. He says, that’s why he prays. In his darkest hours, he gets down on his knees and asks God to give him the strength. Maybe she should try it. She says, he’s a good Catholic as all mob bosses are, but he says he doesn’t know about good, and laughs. She says, he’s a man of faith then. She’s just a lapsed Anglican. She hasn’t been in church for a while. The last time she was in church, she was on a mission actually. He says, that’s all right. God always listens to him. He doesn’t know where he’d be if he didn’t believe in Him. His phone rings, and he says, it’s Nina. He asks if she’s at the hospital, and Nina says, yes. Charlotte’s out of surgery. The doctor said she’s going to make it. Sonny tells Anna that Charlotte’s going to be okay, and Anna breathes a sigh of relief.

Tomorrow, Tracy says, Brook can have her cake and eat it too; Lois asks if Eddie/Ned isn’t curious about the rest; Maxie says, of course (🍷) they’re interested; and Sonny accuses Ava of being in bed with the enemy.

May 11, 2022 – Carly Needs Willow’s DNA, Break-In In Beverly Hills & Almost

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Elizabeth says Finn doesn’t have to check on her, but he says he likes checking on her. It’s the one time he wishes she was working a double-shift. He’s there, the hospital has security cameras… She says, fortunately, Nikolas asked her to stay at Windymere. She doesn’t love the fact Esme is there, considering what she did to Cameron and Josslyn, filming a sex tape and putting it out there for the world to see, but at least Cameron is safe at the dorm with friends, Jake and Aiden are staying with Laura, and as for her, there’s no place safer than Spoon Island. He says, it wouldn’t be his first choice. Is she headed there now? She says she just has to make a stop first. She has to go, but she’ll talk to him later. She lets herself into her house.

Outside Charlie’s, Drew tells Carly, they have to talk. She says, she doesn’t know what he thinks he saw… He says, he saw Nina put down her drink, she left, and he saw Carly pick up the drink and put it in her purse. The question is, why?

Nina says, it’s been a while since she visited. She thought she owed her an explanation. We see she’s at Nelle’s grave, and she says she filed for visitation rights with Wiley. Nelle probably already knows that. Michael and Willow are fighting it, so there’s going to be a hearing. They’ve also decided to fight dirty, so they paid off the reporter to do a feature on her. He’s making her look like a villain, which is ironic, since it’s the way the whole world saw Nelle. Unfortunately, everything he’s writing is true. She’s made some pretty bad choices in life; so did Nelle. She just wanted the world to know that Nelle wasn’t all bad; that her life mattered.

Michael asks how it went, and Willow says, she and Alexis had a good talk; she just left. Michael asks if she’s okay, since Alexis can be intense, and she says, it was an intense conversation. She’s going to have to get that DNA test from the police eventually. She knows it’s going to prove Harmony wasn’t her biological mother, which makes her related to no one. He says, how about a break? The boat’s out of dry dock. They could take it up to Sawyer. She asks if they can take the car instead. She needs to go somewhere.

Outside Kelly’s, Sonny flashes back to him and Carly talking about Jason, and how he wants to believe Jason is still out there. Laura comes by, and he says, he’s sorry; he was lost in thought. She says, he has a lot on his mind, and he says he doesn’t know if she’s heard, but Monica is finalizing the paperwork to have Jason declared legally dead. She says, she didn’t; she’s sorry. He says, everyone is having a discussion whether the memorial plaque should be at the Quartermaine crypt, or in the graveyard next to Morgan… She says, that’s a heavy burden. Nikolas comes along, and she says, but that’s not what she was referring to. She was talking about the feature on Nina petitioning the court for visitation rights with their grandson. He asks what she’s talking about, and she says, it’s part one of a feature that showed up on The Invader’s website about an hour ago. He asks if she think he may not like it, and she says, there’s an awful lot in there about him and Nina. Nikolas says, he read the piece. It doesn’t paint Nina in a very good light. He guesses that means her and Sonny were made for each other.

Spencer says he just feels he doesn’t know Esme as well as he thought, and he wanted to find out what he doesn’t know. She wonders why he didn’t just ask her. They used to talk about everything. If they’re going to get back what they had, they have to be honest with each other, completely transparent. He agrees, and suggests they start with this. He picks up the letter, and asks, why did Maggie write, no good can come of you having contact with your father. She told him that she fell out of contact with her nanny years ago. She says, that’s true, but… and he says, in that letter, it sounds like Maggie knows who Esme’s biological parents are. Does that mean she knows as well? Who exactly is her father?

Elizabeth lights candles, when the doorbell rings. She says, she knows it’s crazy, but she’s doing it for him. She opens the door to a woman who says, she’s Chelsea Lamb and she’s there to help Elizabeth. Elizabeth invites her in, and tells her that Lucy has said great things about her. She’s hoping Chelsea can help her get some answers. Is that possible? Chelsea says she’s not sure. She guesses they’ll find out together. What do you say we contact the spirits?

Carly says, Drew caught her; she’s up to something. He says, that’s a real shock, and she says, it’s for good reason. He says, to do with Nina, and she says she can’t give him the details. She doesn’t want him involved. He says, sounds ominous, and she tells him, the secret fell into her lap. He says, and she would prefer to carry that secret alone, and she says, she would prefer to tell her best friend. Jason would listen without judging, and let her work through things. And if she did something he didn’t approve of, he’d still support her. He says, if she’s looking for someone to be Jason, he can’t be that guy.

Nina says, if she’s honest with herself, she did want Carly to suffer a little… the way Carly made her and Nelle suffer. Although she guesses she could have done a better job at building a bridge between her, Michael, and Carly. That way, she could have had an active part in Wiley’s life, and she would have told that little boy about Nelle. But she didn’t make that choice. She flashes back to arguing with Carly about how they can’t pretend Nelle didn’t exist, that she didn’t give birth to the miracle of a grandson they both share, and Carly saying, she doubts they’ll be sharing him in the future. Nina tells Nelle (well, her gravestone), now there’s an all-out war, a war she’s not prepared to lose, and she’s going to go all the way, so that she can be part of Wiley’s life. And so that her only daughter is not forgotten. Willow and Michael walk into the cemetery.

Sonny says he doesn’t want to listen to Nikolas’s lies, and Laura says, she loves running into Nikolas, but he might adhere to the old adage, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything. Nikolas says, he’ll remember that the next time she crosses paths with Victor, and she asks if he’s equating Victor with Sonny, but Nikolas says, no, that’s not fair to Victor. He’ll never understand the blind spot she has for Sonny. He’s just a bully. The way he went after Esme… He kidnapped her. Sonny says, here Nikolas goes, opening his mouth when he doesn’t know nothing. He was just talking to Esme, but unlike Nikolas, who buys her little innocent act. Nikolas thinks he’s a bully? You know what Nikolas is? An idiot. He tells Laura, he’s sorry; he’ll see her later. Sonny starts to leave, but Nikolas puts his hand on Sonny’s shoulder, and says, he’s not going anywhere. Sonny grabs Nikolas’s hand and twists his wrist back. He tells Nikolas, don’t you ever, ever put your hand on my shoulder, and Laura looks horrified.

Esme snatches the letter back, and says, if she knew who her biological father was, wouldn’t Spencer know too? but he says he doesn’t know how to answer that. Because the letter she’s holding basically contradicts everything she told him about her past. She says, everything she’s told him is true. She and Maggie lost contact. She hadn’t spoken to Maggie in years. Spencer asks, then how did Maggie know so much about him? She says, she started asking questions about her biological parents. She’d been so alone. Then she met him, and they started to talk about a future together, and she realized she might need answers one day. So she tracked down her old nanny, and started fishing to see what Maggie knew about her biological parents. Once it became clear that Maggie did know something, she ingratiated herself, and regaled Maggie with stories about her life at school, and her handsome new boyfriend. He says, and that worked? She says, no. Turns out Maggie did know something, but she wasn’t inclined to share. Once that became clear, she cut Maggie out of her life, and that’s God’s honest truth. He asks why she would keep the letters then.

Chelsea asks Elizabeth why she’s here, and Elizabeth says, there have been some strange happenings. They started at her home, and then at work, and most recently at the hotel where she was staying. She can’t explain what’s happening, and the police have investigated, but saw no signs of forced entry. Chelsea asks if signs of her late husband keep showing up, and Elizabeth asks if she can sense it, but Chelsea says, no, she’s not that good. Lucy gave her some background information when she referred Elizabeth. She’s not a psychic; she can’t read minds. But if she could see the Powerball numbers, she’d have a seaside retreat in Maui. However, she does believe the spirits of the universe are always talking to us. It’s just a matter of whether we stop and listen to the messages. She takes it this is the first time Elizabeth is talking to a medium, and Elizabeth says, it must be written all over her face. Her friend Terry was going to come with her to meet Chelsea, but then Chelsea said she wanted to meet here. Chelsea says, Lucy told her the majority of the happenings were in this house. If it’s her late husband’s doing, he’ll have the strongest connection here. Elizabeth says, that makes sense, but what if it’s not him?

Drew tells Carly, he’s not his brother, but he’ll try to have an open mind. But if he disagrees with something he can’t promise to be supportive. She says, good to know, and turns to leave, but he grabs her arm. He says, he’s just being honest with her. He’ll always be honest, no matter what, even if it’s not what she wants to hear. And if she’s in over her head, he’ll be there for her, to help her dig herself out. So what’s going on? She doesn’t say anything, and he says, it’s her call. He starts to walk away, but she says, wait. She’ll tell him, but she thinks he’d be more comfortable walking away, because it’s big. He says, he’s here and he’s listening, and she says, she was the last person in the room with Harmony before she died. He says, okay… and she says, Harmony told her that Nina is Willow’s birth mother.

Nina asks what Michael and Willow are doing here at her daughter’s grave, and Michael says, they’re here to visit Jonah, and before she asks, Wiley is at home with Monica. Nina tells Willow, she’s so sorry about Jonah. To find out you had a child long after they passed away is devastating. Willow thinks she’s the enemy, but she understands Willow’s pain. Willow says, if Nina doesn’t want to be thought of as the enemy, stop acting like one, and Michael says, Willow didn’t know her son had died because Nelle switched him with Wiley. So while Nina is contemplating Willow’s devastation, she should probably blame her daughter. Nina says, Michael never misses an opportunity to say something awful about Nelle, and he says, Nina never misses an opportunity to rewrite history. Nina says she doesn’t know why she’s even engaging with Michael; she was just trying to express her sympathy to Willow. Willow says, yeah, this would be the right time. In the last 24 hours, she lost her mother in more ways than one, and the stress of the hearing is only making things worse. If Nina wants to express her sympathy, then please stop this once and for all.

Laura tells Sonny and Nicolas, stop it, both of them, and separates them. Martin comes along, and Nikolas asks if he saw that; Sonny attacked him. Martin asks if Laura has the situation under control, and she says, it’s going to be fine. She tells Sonny, under the circumstances, she thinks it’s best… He says he’s going to go, and leaves. Laura looks at Nikolas, who shakes his head.

Esme tells Spencer, she saved her nanny’s letters for sentimental reasons. She knows she doesn’t have a soft spot for sappy greeting cards or cute puppies (omg – she is evil), but when you don’t have any real family in this world, you feel isolated. Yes, she cut Maggie out of her life, but those letters remind her of better days. And with Spencer being so distant, they have even more meaning. There it is. He asked for explanations, and she gave them to him. So let’s stop dancing around this. Does he believe in her? In them?

Chelsea tells Elizabeth, the candles are a good touch. Can they dim the lights, and light some more? Elizabeth tells her, go ahead, and gets the lights. Chelsea lights more candles, and says, let’s see what kind of poltergeist is behind this. Elizabeth says, poltergeist? and Chelsea says, that movie ruined a perfectly neutral term. A ghost is the spirit of someone who has past. A poltergeist could be a spirit, or it could be a psychic impression of someone who is still living. Sort of a square/rectangle situation; similar, but not the same. Does Elizabeth have anything of sentimental value to her late husband? Elizabeth says she does, and gets her wedding ring.

Drew says, Nina is Willow’s birth mother? How is that even possible? He thought Nelle was Nina’s long lost daughter. Carly says, Harmony said Willow was a twin, and he says, Nelle and Willow were twins? She says, according to Harmony, and he asks if there’s anything to back it up. Carly says, no. Supposedly Willow is months younger than Nelle, but her birth certificate was forged. That poor girl doesn’t even know her birthday. She wanted to get information from Phyllis about the night Nelle was born. Phyllis took care of Nina at the time, but it turns out Phyllis wasn’t there during the actual birth, so she wouldn’t know if there were twin babies. The only way to prove or disprove what Harmony said is a DNA test. So when she saw Nina’s glass there, she just grabbed it. He says, a DNA test without Nina knowing, and Willow’s on board with this? Carly says, Willow doesn’t know.

Nina says, she’s not heartless, but she’s not the one who started this; Michael and Willow did. And that five-part feature in The Invader. She’s sure Smoltz is going to win a Pulitzer for that. Oh wait. There isn’t an award for bias hit jobs. Michael says, there couldn’t be a feature if there was no petition in the first place. All they did was cooperate with a reporter. If anything is untrue, she can sue. Nina says, she’s always tried to compromise with Willow, and Willow says, when? The night she went to Nina’s office, she said if Nina would back off and give Michael time, and stop pushing, she’d find a way for Nina to see Wiley? Nina says, and she was supposed to trust that and sign off on her rights to her grandson? Michael says, she has no rights to Wiley. She has the right to file a petition, and she’s done that. This fight is on her. Willow says, Nina’s idea of a compromise is to get her way. That works for Nina, but it doesn’t work for Wiley. Nina says, her heart breaks for Willow, for her losses of Jonah and Harmony, but her empathy doesn’t overshadow the love for her grandson, and it definitely doesn’t overshadow her love for her daughter.

Laura asks how Nikolas’s hand is, and Nikolas says, he probably just pulled something; it’s fine. Martin says, it could be a sprain, and Nikolas says, courtesy of Sonny Corinthos. Are they just going to pretend kidnapping Esme and threatening her is okay? Laura says, Esme is prone to exaggeration, and if she didn’t know better, she’d think Nikolas was defending her. Nikolas says, he doesn’t believe Esme filmed Joss and Cam having sex, and framed Trina as the culprit. Does she?

Esme asks if Spencer believes in her, and he says, he’s sorry. He shouldn’t have doubted her. He doesn’t really know why he did. She says, he keeps letting his supposed friends get in his head. She does give Cam credit. She saw him at Kelly’s, and she was upset, and he was able to be nice to her, unlike Trina and Joss. As a reminder, she’s the one who’s always been there for him. She wants to get back what they had. He says that’s what he wants too, and she hugs him. She asks if they can put all this aside, and commit to each other again. Can they try to do that? She kisses him, and unbuttons his shirt. She pushes him toward the bed, and starts working his belt buckle, but he tells her, stop. She asks why he’s stopping. It’s been so long since they’ve been with each other. What’s wrong?

Laura tells Nikolas that she believes Trina is innocent. She can reserve judgement about Esme until after Trina is exonerated. She tells Martin that she’s sorry they’re reuniting under these circumstances, and he says, him too. He was supposed to meet with his nephew to discuss the options in his marriage. Laura says she doesn’t like the sound of that, but they’ll have to postpone it anyway. She wants Nikolas to go to GH and get his hand looked at. Nikolas says, it’s fine; he boxes. She says,  humor her anyway; let her drive him. He says he has a driver, and leaves. Martin says, little sister, trouble certainly seems to follow our family, does it not? She says, it certainly seems to.

Michael says, Nina never knew Nelle. He thinks she’d be less protective of her if she did. Sonny shows up, and asks if there’s a problem, but Nina says he doesn’t have to get involved. Michael says, Nina was just giving Willow a hard time. Not that it matters, since he fully expects Sonny to defend Nina. Sonny says, he told Michael that he’d have his back at the visitation hearing. It doesn’t matter what Michael thinks of him, or whether Michael believes him or not. Michael says, oh really? Then prove it, and tell Nina to back off and stop harassing the mother of his grandson.

Carly tells Drew, she’s not going to tell Willow about this. She and Nina hate each other. They’re going head-to-head in court. Besides she can’t be sure Harmony was telling the truth. This could be one big manipulation. He says he’s seen people die, and when they see it’s the end, the last thing they’re thinking is of manipulating. Carly says, she gets that, but can’t take it on faith that Nina gave birth to twins while she was in a coma, and no one knew about it. She’s not adding to Willow’s grief and putting this on her plate unless she knows for sure. He says he sees her point, but there’s a catch. She has a sample of Nina’s DNA, but not Willow’s. She says she knows. She has to find some way to get into the gatehouse. He wonders if she’s going to drop by for a visit, and hope Willow doesn’t see her stealing her toothbrush. It’s not like she lives on the property. She says, no, but he does.

Elizabeth says, this is her wedding ring, which mysteriously ended up in her locker at work. They got their rings… Chelsea says she knows Elizabeth is trying to be helpful, but it’s better if she knows less about the background. That’s how they’ll know it’s really him. Chelsea asks Elizabeth to sit with her, take her hands, and close her eyes. She says she’s listening to see if anyone is reaching out to them, if anyone want presence to be known… She suddenly gets a little weird, and closes her eyes. Elizabeth asks, what is it? Chelsea opens her eyes, and says, there is a dark presence in this house.

Spencer says, of course (🍷) he wants to reconnect with Esme, just not right now. She asks, why not? and he says, because they hit a significant bump in their relationship. As they come back together, they need to do it right. It needs to feel special and meaningful, not some random spur of the moment thing. Esme says, that’s a sweet thought, but come on. It’s not like it’s their first time. He says he’s serious. It might as well be their first time, since they’re making a fresh start. There’s not going to be any more secrets. If they truly plan on spending the rest of their lives with each other, they need to start on the right foot. She says, okay. What does he have in mind? He says, she’ll have to wait and see, but he can promise this; he has something very, very special in store for her. He says he has to go, but she says, wait. Is there anything else he wants to ask her? He flashes back to finding the pills, and says, no. He thinks they have it all figured out.

Laura says she’s glad she and Martin had a chance to catch up; she missed him. She asks how his mother is, and he says, she’s doing well enough. He thinks she thought he was smothering her a little bit. She says, that’s the circle of life; the child becomes the parent. Can she assume things are good with him and Lucy? He says, better than good. The woman is a sexual panther. Laura says, too much information, and he says, it’s a good thing Valentin signed off on their relationship, and gave them his blessing. She says, not that he should need it, but he says, it makes things easier. It would have made his and Lucy’s reunion that much sweeter. She says, would have? and he says, they were made aware of what happened to Elizabeth at the hotel.

Chelsea says she doesn’t think Elizabeth is safe here. There’s a darkness in this house. Elizabeth says, it’s definitely not her husband. He loved her and the boys; he’d only want them to be happy. Who else could it be? Is Chelsea getting any other clues? Chelsea picks up the ring and closes her eyes, and says, the presence speaking to her doesn’t go by a first name. Perhaps a middle name, or a last name? Elizabeth says, Franco?

Carly and Drew sneak into the gatehouse, and Drew says he can’t believe he let her talk him into this. He turns on the lights, and she asks why he did that. He says, if anyone catches them, it’ll be hard to explain what they’re doing here alone in the dark, and she says, he doesn’t have to be part of this. If he doesn’t think what they’re doing is for the greater good, now would be the time to bail. He says, be quick please, just be fast, and she goes upstairs, as he looks out the window.

Sonny says, first of all, he’s Michael’s father; Michael doesn’t give him orders. Nina says she has been hard on Willow. She apologizes for some of the things she said. She prolonged the conversation more than she should. Michael says, he’s still waiting. Here’s Sonny’s chance to say Nina was wrong. Michael hears crickets, and says, nothing? He guesses when Sonny forgave Nina for what happened in Nixon Falls, she really must have begged. Sonny says, at least she had the courage to apologize, unlike someone else he knows. Michael says, he’s got nothing to apologize for, and Sonny says, of course (🍷). Michael tells Willow, let’s go, and they leave. Sonny looks at Nina.

Esme can’t wait for Spencer’s surprise. She loves a grand gesture, just like he loves making them. It’s one of the reasons she loves him. He says, him too, and leaves. She says, better than she thought. Don’t take anything at face value right now. Outside, Spencer looks at the pill he put in his pocket, and takes out his phone. He texts: Britt, can we meet? It’s very important.

Laura tells Martin that Jake and Aiden are staying with her and Doc. She wanted Elizabeth to stay too, but up until a few days ago, she insisted on staying in her own house by herself. She’s really worried about her. Martin says, it may not be a comfort, but Lucy gave Elizabeth the name of her medium. According to Lucy, she read Laura once up a time. Chelsea Lamb. And according to Lucy, Elizabeth believes she’s being haunted.

Elizabeth tells Chelsea, her husband’s name was Robert Frank, but he went by a variation of his last name, Franco. He loved her, and loved their family. He would never want to hurt them. Chelsea says, she’s sensing this presence was someone born in trauma and pain; someone who was abandoned by their family. Someone who finally found real family in these walls. That someone doesn’t much like this new family being made here now.

Finn asks what’s with Nikolas’s hand, and Nikolas says, he’s fine. He just promised his mother he’d get it checked out. Finn says, this isn’t easy for him to say, but he appreciates what Nikolas is doing for Elizabeth. Nikolas asks what he’s talking about, and Finn says, she’s staying at Windymere until they figure out who’s been breaking into her house. Nikolas says he missed a call from Elizabeth, but they never touched base. Finn flashes back to Elizabeth telling him that she’s going to stay at Windymere. For her, there’s no place more secure than Spoon Island. Finn says, if Elizabeth’s not at Windymere, then where the hell is she?

Chelsea tells Elizabeth, the presence is clear; they don’t want this new family formed in this house. Elizabeth refuses to believe that. The Franco she knew, the Franco she loved, would only want to see her happy. Is he here now? Can he hear her? Tell him that she believes he’s here. Tell him that she’s ready to listen.

Nina tells Sonny that she’s sorry she and Michael got into it. She hates being a wedge between them. He says, there’s no way around it, is there? She’s going to have to go for  the jugular at the hearing. She says she knows he’s going to support Michael in court. Things are going to get pretty tense. She wishes things were simple like they are at Charlie’s and at The Savoy – remember the other night? But they’re not going to be for a while. Maybe they should keep their distance until this is all over. Then they can come back and decide what’s next… if anything is next. He says, when that day comes, save me a dance. She touches his arm, and leaves.

Carly sneaks back down the stairs with something (a toothbrush?) in a plastic bag, and Drew says, she didn’t touch it, did she? She says, no. She used a bag to pick it up. Michael and Willow walk in, and Michael says, Mom, Drew, what are you doing here?

Tomorrow, Laura thinks Finn is right; Ryan asks how badly Esme screwed things up; Drew says he’d like to say it’s his fault, but it’s all on Carly.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

We begin with Dorit’s frightening AF security tape of the break-in. Her voiceover says, she thought, this is it. This is how she’s going to die.

Three days earlier. Dorit is back from London with the kids. Kyle is having a self-defense class with Portia, who she says is vastly different from last year, when she was sleeping late, and didn’t want to leave her room. Portia was going through a difficult time, and she was struggling as a parent, not knowing what to do. She’s never been in a pandemic. You and most of the rest of the world, sister. She says, Portia is shining now, and we see photos of Portia’s Bat Mitzvah. She says, Portia has the spark back in her eyes, and she’s coming out the other side. Her Bat Mitzvah was one of Kyle’s most favorite days in her life.

Sutton and Garcelle (who I think should have their own show) are in Miami for Garcelle’s Angels for Humanity charity event. We see a clip of Garcelle giving a speech, and thanking everyone for helping to give the children of Haiti a future. In Garcelle’s interview, she says, she and Sutton are both single, they have a good time, and they trust each other. Back in Beverly Hills, LisaR says, Amelia is back from NYC, and shooting for Rinna Beauty, which has gone through the roof, even though she’s mainly selling on Instagram. We see some of her posts, including one of Harry demonstrating lip balm, and she says, it’s been a dream come true. LisaR asks Erika if she’s had any dates, and Erika says, no, but she’s had some good sex. She’s been married most of her adult life. In Erika’s interview, she says she’s back in the dating pool, but she’s more interested in having good sex with good people. LisaR tells Erika that Sutton brought her up on Watch What Happens Live, and we see a clip of Sutton telling Andy that she didn’t get a thank you from LisaR for being her guest at an Elton John gala. LisaR was shocked and not happy. Sutton tells Garcelle that it wasn’t her intention to humiliate LisaR, and Garcelle says she took it as Sutton being supportive of her. We flash back to LisaR saying she got no thank you for a jar of sauce that Garcelle actually had thanked her for. Sutton says, if it comes from the heart, you don’t need a thank you, which confuses me, since they both wanted thank yous. In LisaR’s interview, she says, it was hurtful. She’d considered Sutton a friend, and she wouldn’t do something like that. And Sutton claims to be so perfect with her etiquette. Bitch, no. Sutton tells Garcelle that she thinks LisaR will be okay with it, and LisaR tells Erika, don’t come at her on TV with that bullsh*t.

Crystal visits Sutton, who’s in the process of reconstructing her basement. In her interview, she says, it’s taking longer than anticipated, since no one told her, with a house, everything takes three times as long as you think it will. She says, it will get done, just not as soon as she’d hoped. She tells us that she and Sutton are in a good place now. They got together over the summer, and talked out their issues. In Sutton’s interview, she says she was so exasperated with fighting, they dropped the barriers, and bonded over baseball. Baseball is a powerful sport. Sutton tells Crystal that she said something about LisaR that maybe she shouldn’t have, and in her interview, Crystal says, when Sutton is being cheeky, it’s often her way to jab someone a little. Sutton says she’s dating, and Crystal asks if she wants to be fixed up. Surprisingly, she says, yes, and her requirements are handsome, tall, educated, and likes cats. Crystal wonders if there are a lot of men who say they’re a cat guy.  Garcelle is getting together with Erika, and in her interview, she says she’s not sure where they stand, and has trepidations about seeing Erika. They meet for a workout, and in Erika’s interview, she says, on her darkest days, she was looking for anything to take off the pressure. The last thing she wanted to do was work out, but she was enjoying fast food and drinking more alcohol than ever. When you’ve gone to Taco Bell and don’t remember, but there are wrappers in the kitchen, there’s a problem. After the workout, Erika asks Garcelle about Miami, and Garcelle says, she saw her sisters. We see a clip of Garcelle and Sutton having dinner with them, and Garcelle asks Erika if she’s going to apologize to Sutton for threatening her. Erika insists she didn’t, and asks Garcelle to tell her what words she used. Garcelle says, Erika said she was coming for Sutton, and Erika says, that could mean anything. Garcelle is like, come on, and Erika says she was backed into a corner. She can’t apologize for not fighting sterile. Garcelle says, Sutton freaked, and she would have freaked too. Erika says, Sutton talks a lot of sh*t, and when you take swings at people, people are going to swing back.

Erika says, Sutton was repeating what’s been disproven. There was never $20 million in her account. She can never get away from it, and it’s not true; it was never in her hands or in her account. The trustee said she never touched the money. In Garcelle’s interview, she points out that this information was never in the papers or a blog; it’s nowhere. And if it’s true, why isn’t it in the press? In Erika’s interview, a producer asks how and when this happened, and Erika says, it was early on, and if they want to know, Bravo can do their due diligence, and find out themselves. The producer asks if the proof is available to the public, and Erika says, they can read everything her lawyer put out, and answer their own f***ing question. Nice evasion. Garcelle asks if it was dismissed, and Erika says, no, but it’s time to smile and have fun. In her interview, Garcelle doesn’t want to rain on Erika’s parade, but wonders if she’s jumping the gun before they know the truth. Maybe she’s in denial. Erika tells Garcelle that every day she woke up to a new accusation, lawsuit, or documentary, and all those things aren’t true. Garcelle asks if Erika can’t sue them, and Erika says, that’s later, down the road. In her interview, Erika explains that these are civil lawsuits, and she hasn’t been charged with a crime. Garcelle says, if Erika wants to share, feel free, and Erika says, Tom is in a facility, but she doesn’t know much more. In her interview, she says, they’re legally separated, but there are a lot of laws regarding divorcing an incompetent person. She has lawsuits to fight. She’ll get a divorce when she can. She tells Garcelle that she’s doing her best to sort it out.

Dorit’s kids are having a karate lesson. In Dorit’s interview, she says, she likes that discipline, respect, and confidence are incorporated in the practice. Jagger has always shown an interest in martial arts, but Phoenix has turned out to be a tough cookie. Garcelle calls, and asks how the wedding was. Dorit says, it was a whirlwind, and asks about Miami. Garcelle says, that was also a whirlwind, and Dorit says, glamorous, gorgeous, and giving back sums up Garcelle. In her interview, Dorit says, she and Garcelle were fast friends, but hit some bumps in their friendship. We flash back to Garcelle telling Dorit that she never lets anyone speak, and Dorit says, now she’s aware she needs to limit her words with Garcelle, and keep it short and sweet.

Later that night. We see the security footage again, and Dorit says, when they came into her bedroom and held a gun to her head, she thought, this is it. This is how I’m going to die. She told them to let her help. She’d show them where everything is, just don’t hurt her kids or her; they need their mommy.

We see the news reports of the robbery, the thieves getting away with nearly a million dollars in jewelry and handbags. In LisaR’s interview, she says, her gut reaction was, she had to go there to see Dorit. Of course it was. In Kyle’s interview, she says, she called PK, and he was sobbing and saying he wasn’t there. In Erika’s interview, she says, they could have killed Dorit; they could have killed her kids; they could have done a lot of sh*t. Kyle doesn’t know how you can recover from this. In her interview, LisaR says, to think you’d have to beg for your children’s lives. She can’t fathom it. LisaR tells Crystal that the kids know nothing, and Crystal says she can’t imagine feeling that way in your own home. Sutton visits Kyle, who says, it was terrifying, and PK was bawling. Sutton says she’s been putting out fires of her own all day. She has a French designer coming in who’s having problems with immigration. Kyle says, that doesn’t seem like a fire in comparison, but Sutton says, it is for her. It’s all relative. She wasn’t held at gunpoint; sorry. In Kyle’s interview, she says, what’s wrong with you? Are you that wrapped up in yourself, you’re not grasping what happened to our friend? Sutton says she feels weird energy. Wow. I like Sutton, but that was a pretty insensitive exchange. Although it could be that Sutton is deliberately ignoring something that might freak her out. I don’t think she dwells much on anything negative, and likes to play in the shallow end of the pool.

LisaR wonders how they’re going to celebrate Harry’s birthday with this tragedy having happened. She and Crystal go to the restaurant where LisaR is planning on having it, and the manager shows her the space. LisaR tells Crystal that Harry is going to be 70, and in her interview, she says, no one looks better than Harry at 70. He’s still the sexiest man alive; she hit the jackpot. I beg to differ on no one looking better. Has she seen Marc Singer? He can still park his shoes next to my bed anytime. LisaR says, Dorit is the priority, and whatever happens, they’ll plan around that. Sutton tells Kyle that Crystal is looking for guys to set her up with. She doesn’t care if they’re rich. In her interview, she says she thinks maybe Erika is seeking different qualities. She’s concerned with character and humor. She doesn’t need money to make herself feel better. Maybe Erika misses the big house, the clothes, and the lifestyle, but she wants someone who will appreciate her. Well, she might feel differently if she didn’t have more money than all of us put together. And on the other hand, Erika doesn’t look like she’s hurting for outfits. Kyle says, when they look back, they’ve argued and said things… Sutton says she disagrees already, and Kyle says she feels badly that she didn’t speak up for Sutton at Kathy’s. We flash back to Erika hammering Sutton, and telling her, STFU. She says she knows after Erika left, later, she cried her eyes out. Sutton says Kyle is feeling sorry for Erika after how Erika treated her? In her interview, Sutton says, Erika was so mean, and no one stood up for her. Are they supposed to feel sorry because Erika committed a crime, maybe? Kyle says, Erika puts on a tough bitch persona that’s not her when she’s hurt, and in Sutton’s interview, she says, there are families who are crying; it sickens her. Sutton tells Kyle, she gets in trouble, but the men don’t, and we flash back to Mauricio and PK laughing about Erika. Sutton says, it’s a double standard, and in her interview, Kyle says, she knows Erika was upset. She doesn’t need to feel that her friends are laughing behind her back. Sutton says, she’s seen who Erika is as a person and as a friend. If that’s the kind of person Kyle wants to be friends with, she doesn’t care.

Kyle gets ready to have everyone over, and in her interview, she says she doesn’t want bad feelings. Erika arrives first, and says, positive things are happening, but she’s more concerned with Dorit. She and Kyle have a drink, and Mauricio comes out. Erika says, he hurt her feelings. She’s sensitive, and last year sucked. He says, she had a sh*tty year, no question, and he’s sorry. LisaR comes in, and Kyle asks how blown away she is. Erika says she feels like she’s in shock, and LisaR says, she’s shook. Dorit comes in, and in Kyle’s interview, she says, the break-in was last night. It’s important for Dorit to surround herself with friends. She doesn’t know how Dorit left the house; she would have been paralyzed with fear. In Dorit’s interview, she says, it’s been an emotional day, but she knows her babies are safe; her husband’s assistant and security are with them. She thought it would be good to get out, so the kids don’t see mommy breaking down. She immediately tells her story.

She says, when PK is out of town, the kids sleep with her. She was so exhausted and jetlagged, she put them to bed, and got in bed herself. When she heard the door open, she thought the kids had gotten up. She got out of bed, and saw it was a big person. He panicked, and charged her, grabbing her, and telling her to get down, or he’d f***ing kill her. He had a gun to her head, and she was hunched over, sobbing, saying, please. She’s a mother, and her kids need her. The other guy was saying, just f***ing kill her. He was the one collecting the stuff, and told the one holding her, get her to show them where the cash is. She stayed calm, and told them, take what they want, but please don’t let her kids see them. No surprise, everyone is upset, and some of them are crying at this point. I’m pretty upset. I’m not exactly Team Dorit, but I wouldn’t wish something like this on anyone. I have to mention this as a PSA as well. On WWHL, Dorit said the security alarm was not set. In Dorit’s interview, she says, she’d do anything to save her kids. They need their mommy. Don’t hurt them or her. She tells the group, she thought, this is it. This is how she dies. She envisioned them killing her, and then her kids. Erika says, she needs to get into therapy right away. LisaR agrees, and adds that they’re her friends, and will be there to help her. Kyle’s dogs bark, and Dorit freaks out, wondering why they’re barking. Kyle tells her, it’s okay. The dogs always bark (they do), and they have a security guy. Erika tells Dorit, don’t cry, and hugs her. In LisaR’s interview, she says, Dorit is a strong woman. She saved her kids, and LisaR has every hope Dorit will get through it, but it will be a lot of work. Garcelle arrives, and says, she and Dorit had just spoken; it was a normal day. Erika says, and then Dorit had a gun to her head, and Dorit says, the guys was holding her the whole time. She finally told them that they should get out while they can; they didn’t want to get caught. In her interview, Dorit says, they took bags and jewelry, whatever fit in her comforter. The items were irreplaceable, but it doesn’t matter. She asked them not to take her cell phone, and the guy told her to count to 40, and he’d leave it by the gate. He did. We see the security footage backing that up, and in Dorit’s interview, she says, she’ll always thank God for protecting her and her kids. She doesn’t care about the material stuff, and never will. She tells them that she called 9-1-1, and the police arrived about 4 am. It was like an out-of-body experience. Like she’d floated out of her body because the danger wasn’t here. Then she called PK. Kyle says, PK told her, the second he heard Dorit’s voice, he started crying. In Kyle’s interview, she says, Dorit’s initial shock is wearing off, and what happened is settling in. Dinner is served, and Garcelle gifts Dorit with some crystals and sage. LisaR says, Dorit is stronger than any of them. PK calls, and says he’s at the airport. There’s TV and press waiting. Kyle tells him to come straight there, and he does. I notice Kyle seems to be wearing pajamas. She’s still in her pandemic wardrobe phase.

PK hugs Dorit and cries. He says, he wasn’t there, and in Dorit’s interview, she says, PK is so strong in matters of the heart, but not as strong as she is… Don’t tell him. PK says, he was sleeping, and heard the phone on vibrate. He was groggy with sleep, and called Dorit back. He didn’t get what had happened. In their dual interview, PK says he asked if the kids were all right, and Dorit explained what happened. It was difficult to process; he was so far away. He cried in airport lounge. But he made it home okay. They’re going to get through this. LisaR says she’s hesitant to celebrate Harry’s birthday, but PK says, in his religion, you never cancel a happy occasion for a sad occasion. They’re not letting this ruin their lives. Dorit says, thank God he got home, and in her interview, she says she just wants to get to the other side. She knows it won’t happen overnight, but she knows they can get there. Garcelle says, Dorit is very strong, and they say their goodbyes. At the car, PK realizes he left his phone inside, and goes back to get it. Alone, sitting on a walkway bench, Dorit cries, and says, I’m okay.

This season, skiing, a trip to Mexico, the call of the conch, Birkins, and jewelry; new Wife Diana Jenkins in introduced; Garcelle tells Sutton to watch her back with her new friend; Erika is mixing alcohol with her medication, and the women are concerned; Garcelle says she doesn’t have to make Erika look bad, since Erika can do that on her own; Erika says, if everyone is going to talk about her behavior, they need to own theirs; and LisaR says, Kathy isn’t going to get away with it.

July 27, 2021 – The Freezer Is Opened, Reunited Feels So Good, Leah’s Legal Concerns & Kool Celebration

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Anna and Finn enter Helena’s old lab, and Anna wonders if Peter hid down there before he escaped. Finn doesn’t say anything, and she says, did he escape? Finn says, no, and looks at the freezer. He says, he’s in there.

At the pool (🍷), Carly and Josslyn sit with their feet in the water, and Josslyn’s face is in her phone. Carly says, her and that phone. She only uses hers for calls, texts, and email. Josslyn says, and to spy on her children, but Carly says she’d call that monitoring her children. She asks what’s going on with Josslyn, and  why she’s not hanging out with Trina and Cameron. Josslyn says there’s something she has to tell Carly, when Spencer comes out. He says, sorry for interrupting a mother/daughter moment, but he wanted to say hello. Carly says, hello, Spencer. Josslyn told her that he was back in town. So did some of her hotel staffers. He says, the staff was very helpful when he took an unexpected swim, and Josslyn says he should be more careful walking so close to the pool. He says he definitely learned his lesson, and she says, one can only hope.

Trina walks into the house, and the door squeaks loudly. She says she thought they were getting that fixed, and Portia tells her, the carpenter said he’s coming by to repair it. Trina says, on second thought, maybe they shouldn’t fix it. That thing is better than an alarm system. She heard a screech last night when Portia came home. The hospital is working her really late these days, huh?

Sitting near the pool (🍷), Curtis flashes back to kissing Portia. Shawn walks in, and says, checking out the competition? and Curtis says he has to admit the sunset views there are better than at his nightclub. Shawn sits down, and Curtis says it’s good to see him. They bro shake, and Curtis asks Shawn how it feels to be a free man. Shawn says, the short answer is, it feels damn good, and Curtis asks, what about the long answer? Shawn says, freedom doesn’t mean free from problems or challenges, and he still has plenty of those. Starting with his search for whoever shot Hayden. He was hoping Curtis could help him out.

Jordan is looking at the divorce papers when there’s a knock at her office door, and an officer says there’s someone asking to see her. Stella breezes past, and says she knows the officer is only doing his job, but can Jordan please tell him that she’s family. Jordan says, it’s all right; she’s family. The officer leaves, and Jordan asks what she can do for Stella. Stella says Jordan can tell her what she’d doing to salvage her marriage before Jordan loses her nephew altogether.

Elizabeth comes down the hospital stairs, and thanks Scotty for meeting her. He says it’s his pleasure, but it sounded urgent. She asks how the law defines justifiable homicide.

Jason slips out of a hospital door and into the hallway. He makes a call to Spinelli, thanking him, and asking if he’s still in. There’s something else he needs Spinelli to do.

Anna says, he’s in the freezer? and Finn says, it’s all right. Peter August is dead. He killed him.

Carly asks when Spencer got back to Port Charles, and he says, a few days ago, but that’s no excuse. He should have come over by now to tell her how sorry he is for her loss. He really admired Uncle Sonny. In Spencer’s opinion, he was a great man. He hears congratulations are in order, that she and Jason are engaged. She says they are, and he says, they’re finally getting the happiness they deserve.

Trina tells Portia, she’s just going to grab her tablet, and go back to the pool (🍷), so she’ll make it quick. She thinks the hospital is working Portia too hard. She didn’t get home until after midnight last night. Portia says she wasn’t working; she went out. Trina says, she went out out, for fun? and Portia asks if it’s that impossible to believe. Trina says it is. Did she go out by herself? Portia says, no. Terry invited her to go out, and she said yes. Trina says, that’s better than great. Where did they go? Portia says, here and there, and Trina says, imagine if she answered that way when Portia asked her the same thing. Portia says, eventually, they ended up at the Savoy with Curtis.

Curtis says Shawn knows he’s no longer in the P.I. game, and Shawn says Curtis’s ex-partner is helping him. Curtis says, Sam is one of the best. If anyone can find Hayden’s shooter, it’s her. Shawn says he’s counting on it, but he also knows Curtis did a deep dive on the case. Curtis says he got absolutely nowhere. He and Hayden were friends before she left, but he never found a smoking gun. If he had, he would have notified the cops immediately, but he never found who Hayden’s shooter was. Shawn says he was wondering if something in the old files that meant nothing then, might mean something now. Curtis says he’ll revisit his old records and see what he can find. It’s the least he can do. Shawn says he wants Curtis to know that he understands Curtis has already done plenty, and he’s grateful.

Jordan covers the papers on her desk, and tells Stella that her marriage isn’t open for discussion, and this conversation is over. Stella says she’s sorry if it takes a little tough love to get Jordan to follow her heart, and Jordan says she followed it. She did what Stella encouraged. She went to find Curtis. She was going to tell him that if he wanted to roll up his sleeves, and make this marriage work, she’d be right beside him. Stella says, now she’s talking. Did she find him? Jordan says she found him all right, at The Savoy. She also found the answer she was looking for, and it wasn’t the answer she or Stella wanted.

Scotty and Elizabeth go into an examining room, and Scotty says, just a little piece of advice. If you’re going to be talking about justifiable homicide, then you should do it when nobody’s near you, and only to your lawyer. She says nobody’s near them now, but he says he thinks it should still be a little hush-hush. Between her and him, what kind of trouble is she in? She says, this isn’t about her. It’s about… He says, a friend, right? 99% out of 100, it’s about a friend. There never is a friend. She says, this time there is, and he says if she wants to stick to her story and take him for a buggy ride, fine. So this friend, why did they kill whoever it was they killed? She says, desperation… outrage… The thing is, her friend didn’t mean to kill this other person. He says, so it was self-defense? and she says, no. He says, first things first. She didn’t kill anyone. She says, no, this isn’t about her. He says, this is about her. He’s sorry to snap at her, but if she knows that her friend killed somebody, or knows anything about it, that makes her an accessory to murder.

Finn says, after all the lives Peter destroyed is it any surprise he’d meet a violent death? Anna says not only is she having trouble believing he was killed, she’s having trouble believing Finn did it. He says, believe it, because it’s true. He’s the one who found Peter on the roof, waiting for a helicopter to help him escape. We see the roof scene again as Finn talks. He says he pleaded with Peter. He confronted him about Chase. Peter’s answer was to throw the antidote off the roof. Then when Peter tried to leave, he couldn’t let that happen. He killed Peter August. He threw him face first down a flight of stairs. Peter hit his head hard on the way down; he died. She says she’s sorry, and he says, that he killed Peter? and she says, that he had to bear the weight of what he did. He says, it goes against everything he stands for, but if he had to face Peter again on the roof under the same circumstances, he woudn’t do a damn thing different.

Spencer says, Jason and Carly will make perfect life partners. He hopes it’s not presumptuous to say, but he thinks Uncle Sonny would have approved. Carly thanks him, and he says he guesses there’s something familiar about falling in love with a friend. That explains how Josslyn and Cameron ended up together. Josslyn says, Spencer! and Carly says, Josslyn and Cameron? What? Josslyn says, well, that’s… and Spencer says he couldn’t believe it either. They’ve known each other most of their lives, but he’s always credited Josslyn with a more adventurous spirit, and thought she’d be drawn to someone that’s… He looks at Josslyn and says, what? She hasn’t told her mother? Josslyn pushes him into the pool, and tells Carly she wishes he’d stayed in Italy. Spencer pops out of the water, and she smiles at him.

Trina says, so Portia and Terry had a drink with Curtis? Portia says, no. Terry encouraged her to seek out Curtis, so she did. Trina says, so she and Curtis… Portia says, it’s a new thing, for both of them. Trina knows she hasn’t dated much since her and Trina’s father split up, at least never seriously. Trina says, and Portia never talked to her about it, and Portia asks if Trina wants her to stop, but Trina tells her, she didn’t say that. Portia says she and Curtis enjoy each other’s company; Trina must have noticed that. Trina says she knew they were close, and Curtis called the night Cyrus took them hostage and came to their rescue. When Curtis was shot, Portia kept vigil at GH. So it makes everything make sense. Portia says, she’s not interested in Curtis because he risked his life to save them; it’s because of the man he is. She likes being with him, and would like to spend more time with him. So how is Trina feeing about all that?

Shawn says, one of the worst things about prison was being locked away from TJ. He was sure TJ was on the right track and doing well in school, but he was at a pivotal point in his life, when it’s easy for a young man to lose his way and turn down the wrong road. TJ needed guidance a strong role model, and Shawn wasn’t able to be there, but Curtis was. He’s thankful Curtis came to Port Charles when he did. Curtis says it was one of the best moves he ever made, and Shawn says he respects Curtis. Curtis is someone he can count on and turn to, despite what happened with Tommy. Curtis says, they all made mistakes back in the day, and Shawn says, those mistakes could have easily put a wedge between them, but Curtis made a point of being there for him and TJ. He thanks Curtis, saying, he’s a good man. Curtis says, that means a lot coming from Shawn. Respect. They clink glasses, and Shawn says, cheers, brother.

Scotty tells Elizabeth, for it to be justifiable homicide, the person who committed the crime would have to prove he was in a situation where it was kill or be killed. She says, what if… and he says, he also recalls visiting a friend of hers who was afraid they’d be hauled in for questioning about Peter’s disappearance. And he knows that friend was very important to her. She says, so what if her friend needed his help? and he says, it would be a conflict of interest. She says, what conflict? and he says she’s his top priority, and he’s going to do everything in his power to protect her. But she has to tell him what’s going on, so he can help her out of the mess she’s in before it’s too late.

On the phone, Jason asks Spinelli if he found it.

Anna tells Finn, whatever happened, she knows he’s not a murderer, but he says, a jury of his peers might disagree. She says, Peter confronted Finn, Finn shoved him, he fell, and hit his head. Finn tried to help Peter, didn’t he? He says he checked for breathing and a pulse, but there was nothing. There was nothing he could do. Peter was gone. She asks if he was certain, and he says he didn’t spend a long time lingering over the body. He had other priorities like keeping Chase alive. She says, and he didn’t feel he could come to her? He says, her knowing Peter was dead wasn’t going to bring her any closer to finding Louise. He couldn’t risk leaving Violet without a father; her mother already abandoned her. How could he leave her too?

Spencer says, this is getting annoying, and Josslyn says, tell her about it. What the hell is wrong with him? He asks how he was supposed to know she was keeping her romance a secret from her mother. He thought they shared everything. She says, they do. In fact, she was just about to tell her before he opened his big mouth. Remind her to tell Trina not to even waste her time with him; he’s so out of her league. Carly comes out, and gives Spencer a towel. She says he’s only in town for five minutes, and he’s already causing trouble? She asks to talk to her daughter, and he leaves. She and Josslyn sit down, and Carly says Josslyn has to stop pushing that kid in the pool. She’s not kidding; it’s a safety regulation. Josslyn says she’s sorry. She’d love to promise she won’t do it again, but if Spencer is sitting close to the pool edge, and running his mouth about something that’s none of his business… Carly says, find another way to shut him up. If Spencer hits his head, Nikolas will sue her. Josslyn says, okay, but Spencer is a jerk, and totally deserved the dunking. Carly says she agrees with Josslyn, and Josslyn says she hopes Trina stays away from him. Carly says, what does she want to talk about first? Trina and Spencer, or her and Cameron?

Trina says, she’s not sure what’s happening here, but is Portia asking her for dating advice, because that would be weird. Portia says, don’t worry. She’s not asking for advice, and definitely not asking for permission, but she does want to know if Trina has a problem with her dating Curtis. Trina can be honest with her. Trina says, all she wants is for Portia to be happy. Portia says, but…? and Trina says, how long have Portia and Curtis… She saw the signs, and thought something was there. Was she right? Portia says, yes, they had feelings for each other, but it wasn’t until last night that they owned up to those feelings, and decided to see where it’s going to go. Trina asks if Portia has any idea where it might be going, but Portia says, not yet. She’ll keep Trina posted. She wanted to tell Trina first before she hears it from anyone else. Trina says she’s glad Portia told her… Portia asks, what is it? and Trina says, does Jordan know? She thought they were friends.

Jordan tells Stella that she walked into The Savoy just in time to see Curtis and Portia in a close moment. Stella asks, how close? and Jordan says, close enough that their lips were touching. Stella asks what she did, and Jordan says, she left. Stella says, she walked out? and Jordan asks what she was supposed to do, pull out a sidearm, and yell, freeze? Stella says she understands that Jordan is hurt and angry. Portia and Curtis share a past, and that can be a powerful draw. On second thought, maybe Jordan did the right thing. This way, she can have a talk with Curtis, or Portia. She heads for the door, and says, or maybe she’ll sit them both down, but Jordan says, please just let this go. Their marriage didn’t work. Curtis has moved on. Now she needs to move on too.

Curtis says he could never replace Shawn or Tommy, but he did the best he could to be a father figure to TJ for as long as he could. Until things between him and Jordan… Shawn says he’s sorry to hear they’re splitting up, but just because the marriage is ending, that doesn’t diminish the family he’s created. If he wants proof, look no further than TJ and Molly. He wouldn’t be there now if Molly hadn’t called out Judge Carson for being hard on defendants of color. Those kids are a hard act to follow. Curtis says, sometimes he thinks TJ is the man he’s always wanted to be, and Shawn says, all they can do is try. In the meantime, besides running the hottest club in town, what else is new in Curtis’s life? Curtis says the nightclub keeps him busy most nights. In the afternoons he comes there to recharge. Shawn says, there are definitely worse places, and Curtis says, tell him if he’s out of line, but after Shawn tracks down the person responsible for Hayden’s shooting, what happens next? Shawn says he’s keeping his options open. Why? Curtis says, because The Savoy is his baby, and he working to assemble a team he can trust. He could certainly use a man with Shawn’s skills.

Scotty says, if Elizabeth’s friend killed who he thinks they did, they should be given the keys to the city. But it’s not about what’s right; it’s about the law. She asks if those two things shouldn’t be the same, and he says, theoretically, but the longer she stays quiet, and says nothing, she’s committing a crime. She needs to tell him what’s going on so he can help her. She says she would if she could, but there are other lives involved. Other people might suffer if she came forward. He says, so this friend, he really means a lot to her.

Finn says he owes Anna an apology, and she says, for what? He says, for being so hard on her about keeping things from him. He never imagined he’d be living in a glass house, throwing stones. She says, it’s not the same thing, and he says, don’t let him off the hook. She says, she only wishes she could. She needs to ask him a question. He confronted Peter on the roof. He pushed Peter, and Peter fell down the stairs and he hit his head. And then what? He transported Peter there? He says, yeah, and she says, how? He couldn’t have done it alone.

Josslyn tells Carly, she and Cameron just started seeing each other. She didn’t want to say anything until she knew there was something worth saying something about. Carly says, okay. It’s weird. And great. She’s happy for Josslyn, as long as she’s happy. Does her dad know? Josslyn says, no, and please let her tell him. Carly says Josslyn knows she can come to her about anything, and Josslyn says she knows. She wants Carly to know that it came as a surprise to her and Cameron too. Trina told them that they were the last people to know. Carly says, it does happen sometimes, and Josslyn asks if that’s what happened with Carly and Jason.

Portia tells Trina that she doesn’t want to hurt Jordan. She hopes they find a way to remain friends through this. But before she speaks to Jordan – and she most certainly will – it was important she speak to Trina first. Trina says she’s glad Portia told her. She was expecting to grab her tablet, and be on her way, but this was kind of nice. Portia says, she’ll take kind of nice. Trina hopes it works out, that everything Portia wants to happen, happens. She texted Josslyn to meet her, so… Portia tells her, have fun. She’s glad they were able to have this talk. Trina will be living on campus soon, and it’s important they keep this line of communication open, right? Trina says, right, and leaves. Portia says, that went better than I thought it would. Outside, Trina looks sad.

Shawn asks what kind of skills Curtis is looking for. Does Curtis want him to be a bouncer for the velvet rope? Curtis says, nothing like that, although he’s sure Shawn would be good at that too. He’s looking for someone to help him run the place, and he heard Shawn has managerial experience. Shawn says he ran Kelly’s diner, not a nightclub, and Curtis says, obviously there are differences, but what Shawn doesn’t know he can learn on the job. Shawn says he appreciates the offer… and Curtis says he knows what Shawn is going to say. This isn’t a handout. Shawn would actually be helping him, because he needs someone he can trust. Shawn wants to say yes, and Curtis tells him, say it. Shawn says if Curtis is looking at this like long term, he can’t give Curtis that. His plans are to find out who shot Hayden. After that’s done, he needs to figure out what work he wants to do; what kind of life he wants to lead. All he knows is, he wants to be his own boss. Curtis says he gets it. He owned his own P.I. firm, and now the nightclub. He’s been his own boss, and sees why Shawn would want the same, but what Shawn is talking about are future plans, correct? Shawn says, there are no actual plans yet, and Curtis says, until Shawn puts those plans in place, he could sure use him at The Savoy. Shawn says, just a couple of friends helping each other out, and Curtis says, that’s what friends are for. Shawn says, then he accepts, and Curtis says, welcome to the team. They bro shake, Shawn asks when he starts. Curtis says, whenever he’s ready, and Shawn says, he wasn’t expecting to get out for a long time, and all of a sudden, here he is. Curtis says, and he’s there for Shawn when he’s ready.

Elizabeth tells Scotty, her friend needs help; she’s not turning on him. Scotty says he admires her loyalty, but his advice to her is to stay quiet. Don’t talk to anybody, because justifiable homicide doesn’t apply to this particular crime. So if the police come knocking on her door, dummy up and call him. Understood? She says, understood, and they hug. Jason looks through the window.

Finn tells Anna, Peter was on the roof when he confronted him. What happened after that is on him, and no one else. Anna says she hears what he’s saying, but if her instincts led her to him, the PCPD won’t be far behind. The more she knows, the more she can help him. He says he told her everything. She says, if he had help, it’s understandable that he’d want to protect them, but he insists there was no one else. There’s nothing left say. Once she opens this freezer, she’ll see what he did.

Carly says it was a little different for her and Jason, and Josslyn says she knows they’ve been friends forever. Carly says, more than half their lives, and Josslyn says, if they’re talking percentages, she and Cameron have been friends all of their lives. If it took Carly and Jason that long to figure it out, it’s kind of the same. Carly says, they could all wear matching outfits and stuff, and Josslyn says, no, but thanks for the offer. They laugh, and Shawn says he’s glad they’re getting along. Carly says, never have, never will, and hugs him. Josslyn says she’s got to run, but not before she does this, and hugs him. She says, please don’t tell her that she’s all grown up now, and he says, even if she is? She says, it has been a while. He’s going to make her cry at the pool (🍷). She jets, and he tells Carly, she’s all grown up, and Carly says he doesn’t know the half of it. They sit, and she says she wants to share all that with him, but first she wants to talk to him and his future, and she’s hoping it has something to do with her and her family.

Trina has come in, and Josslyn sits with her at a table, and asks, what’s going on? Trina says she’s not going to believe this, and Spencer strides in, saying, believe what? He’s already enthralled. Trina says, on second thought, maybe meeting there was a bad idea. Josslyn says, no argument here.

Portia opens the squeaky door to Curtis, and he looks at it and says, what the hell is that? She says, a souvenir from when he kicked the door in. He says, sorry about that, and she says, don’t be sorry. He saved their lives.

Jordan signs the divorce papers, and puts them in an envelope. She seals it, and puts it in her outbox, and says, signed, sealed, and on its way to be delivered to the courthouse. Stella says, feel better now? and Jordan says, actually, yes. Curtis is free, she’s free now, and now there’s no more looking back, asking herself what might have been. Stella says she thought her nephew meant more to Jordan, and Jordan says she loves Curtis. At one point, he loved her too, but their marriage didn’t work. Once the papers are filed, the rest of her life can finally begin. She cries a little.

Scotty and Elizabeth walk out, and Jason says he needs to talk to her. Scotty says, hang on. Is this her friend? He’s got his own lawyer. She says, it’s not Jason, and he says, good. She says she still needs to talk to him, and Scotty tells Jason if anything happens to Elizabeth… Jason says he knows. He’ll have to answer to Scotty. Elizabeth thanks Scotty for meeting her, and says she’ll call him. Scotty leaves, and Elizabeth urges Jason into the examining room. She asks if he got her message. She thinks Anna knows about Peter. Please tell her that he got to his body before she did.

Anna tells Finn, she was worried that someday she’d have to identify Peter’s body. That is, if she didn’t end his life herself. Those were really the only two ways it could have played out. Finn says he saved her the trouble, and she says, as much as Peter hated Faison, he turned out the same way. The choices Peter made led him here. She puts her hand on the freezer handle.

Shawn tells Carly that he had a conversation with Curtis, and he’s going to help out at The Savoy. She says she’s happy for Curtis, but sad for Jason and her. They could use his expertise. He says he has no doubt she can handle whatever comes up, especially since she and Jason are – he lifts up her hand – in it together? She says, they are, and they’re very happy. While she’s sure he’s going to make The Savoy even more successful, she wants him to know he’ll always have a place with them. He says he’ll remember that.

Josslyn tells Trina that she promised her mom that she’d stop pushing Spence into the pool (🍷) because it’s dangerous, but she can make an exception. What did he do to Trina? Spencer says, he tried to prevent her from making a fool of herself for attempting to Parent Trap Ava and his father. Josslyn says, Parent Trapping; how? Trina says she told the server to bring them each a drink and tell them it was from each other. Josslyn says, that’s a great idea, and Trina says, it would have worked if Mr. I’m-Not-A-Fan-Of-My-Stepmother hadn’t outed her, and ruined it. Spencer says he’s done trying to help people. Au revoir. Josslyn says, ciao, loser. Trina asks how Spencer tried to help Josslyn, or is she reading that wrong? Josslyn says he helped her all right. He told her mom about her and Cameron literally seconds before she was going to. Trina asks how Carly took it, and Josslyn says, it was fine, but awkward. Trina says she feels Josslyn, Know what’s even more awkward? When your mom opens up to you.

Curtis says, and Trina was okay with it, and Portia said, she seemed to be. He says, and she told Trina it was him, and not some other Curtis? and she says, Trina knew the Curtis she was speaking of. He says, when she told Trina that they were going to start seeing each other, she knew what Portia meant? Portia says she was very clear, which was kind of new. Not just because she hasn’t dated much after she and Taggert split, but because Trina is her little girl. But she’s not anymore; she’s a grown woman. Instead of Trina confiding in her, it was kind of like they were confiding in each other. Curtis asks how that made her feel, and she says, good. Like she and her daughter are becoming friends. And she could use one of those right about now. He says he assumes she’s thinking of Jordan, and she says, isn’t he? He says, yeah. He was thinking he’d better tell her about them before she finds out some other way.

An officer tells Jordan that she’s wanted in interrogation, and she thanks him. Jordan thanks Stella for her concern, but she does have to ask her… Stella says she knows. Mind her own business. She will, and please don’t worry about her. She’ll show herself out. Jordan leaves, and Stella says, one thing Jordan should know by now. Her family is her business. She looks up, and says, Lord, forgive me. It’s for a good cause. She takes the envelope with the divorce papers in it, and puts it in her bag.

Finn says he knew this moment would come; the end of the road, getting caught. Now that it’s here, he’s almost relieved. He’s glad it was her. She says, let’s not put it off longer, and they open the freezer. It’s empty, and they look at each other.

Jason says he did get Elizabeth’s message. He and Anna didn’t cross paths, and Spinelli was able to get into the security cameras, so he got in unseen… Elizabeth says, just tell her what he did with Peter’s body, but he says, nothing. When he opened the freezer, Peter’s body wasn’t there.

Tomorrow, Jordan asks if Dante knows what Anna is doing, Anna asks if Finn is absolutely certain Peter was dead, and Laura asks if Carly is having second thoughts.

The Haves and The Have Nots Reunion – Part 1

There’s never much to say about any reunion, and even less when it’s the cast of a weekly show. That’s not to diminish how great it was to see the cast of The Haves and The Have Nots together as themselves. Kind of like a mini HAHN convention. All of the main characters – Candace (Tika Sumpter), Hanna (Crystal R. Fox), Benny (Tyler Lepley), Kathryn (Reneé Lawless), Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell), David (Peter Parros), Jeffrey (Gavin Houston), and Veronica (Angela Robinson) – were on stage. The only one missing was Jim (John Schneider), but it wasn’t explained why. There was a live audience, and plenty of flashbacks. Each character had their own montage, and the cast answered questions from host Egypt Sharrod. Questions were also taken from the audience, and a ultimate fan Yolanda, who’d been throwing viewing parties, got a video chat with Benny/Tyler, and an all-expense paid invite for her and a friend to come to the final cast party. Some takeaway points were that this had been Tyler Lepley’s first acting gig (he celebrated with Hennessy); Reneé Lawless had been raised in the South, and knows how to bury a body and keep it hidden; and – drumroll – Tika Sumpter had become engaged to Nick James who’d played Officer Justin Lewis. The best part was the obvious love the cast had for each other, and for the fans. Catch it if you can.

The Real Housewives of New York City

Ramona visited LuAnn, who had a birthday cupcake with a candle in it for her. In Ramona’s interview, she said everyone knew she loved to celebrate her birthday, and celebrated for literally a month. But because of covid, she wanted to downplay it. Ramona thanked LuAnn for hosting the party, and LuAnn said she was glad Ramona had given up control, and let her do it, even though Ramona liked to have a 50 girlfriend party. In her interview, LuAnn said Ramona was always hosting her own party. She was switching it up this time, and including Sonja. She was doing a joint party, and a party was more fun when another friend hosted it. She told Ramona that it was going to be small and intimate, and there would be a nice surprise. Ramona said she was looking forward to it.

Eboni and Sonja went see Martin, and in Sonja’s interview, she said Martin could be tough, but there was no growth unless someone got in your face. Ramona told LuAnn that the séance brought up stuff about her brother. She’d never mourned him. She was afraid Sonja was going to have an accident, since her brother had crashed his car. They’d thought he was on something, and probably a drinker too. She thought Sonja went too far with her drinking, and Ramona felt helpless like she did with her brother. LuAnn said she told Sonja that someone could have called the police when she smashed the glass to the fire extinguisher. LuAnn had been there, and it scared the sh*t out of her. We flashed back to LuAnn’s arrest, and she says, it just takes one night. Ramona said Sonja was obviously not addressing something in her life. She wished Sonja would go to a professional to deal with the pain that was deep down. At the ring, Eboni asked Sonja about her parents, and Sonja said they’d loved each other, but when they broke up, her mother invited Sonja to live with her. Her dad was a player. Martin told Sonja, what her father thought about her had nothing to do with her. She needed that experience to get ready for what she was experiencing now. In Sonja’s interview, she said her father loved her, but she was blown away that he’d matured enough on the other side to see that. She was grateful that he showed up at the séance. In Eboni’s interview, she said Sonja had taken Martin’s words to heart, and wasn’t letting anyone walk on her. She could be more balanced, but Eboni wasn’t going to nitpick. Sonja told Eboni that her daddy broke her heart, and she was working to find answers to her story. Eboni said she’d been talking Ashley, the woman who thought she was Eboni’s sister. They were getting a blood test, and getting the results together on FaceTime. In her interview, Eboni said she wasn’t scared anymore. She had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. LuAnn pointed out to Ramona that she’d gotten a piano, and said she and musical director Billy had been working on a Christmas song. She was donating the proceeds to Fortune Society, and asked everyone if they’d sing a line. They were going to have the birthday party, then do the video.

Eboni FaceTimed with Ashley, and in her interview, she said it had been a long time coming. Since she was six, there had been rumors and suspicions, and she couldn’t wait to have some fact based evidence. She told Ashley, the little bit of family she had was dwindling, and she wanted to make the effort to see if she had additional family out there. Ashley said when she found out their father had passed away, she felt the hurt of the absence of a relationship with him because it didn’t hurt. In Eboni’s interview, she said she didn’t have a relationship with Kenneth, but there had been a handful of visits with her mother. She told Ashley that he was supposed to help her move when she went to Loyola, but he did one load, and disappeared. She felt it was better to have no relationship than feel abandoned. She thinks it cursed her in her relationships with men. She ended it before they could. Ashley said she was preaching to the choir. Eboni said she wanted to meet Ashley regardless of their status. She respected and admired Ashley, and wanted a relationship with her. Ashley had given her something special – her father. LuAnn met with the restaurant manager to plan the party, and Leah joined her there. LuAnn said there were going to be dancers, and Leah reassured the manager that they’d keep it classy. LuAnn said, famous last words, and Leah said she had a cake idea, and wanted to be in charge of that. LuAnn said they had all the needed to have fun, and Leah asked if they needed to sign a contract for the Christmas song. LuAnn said she’d just laid the tracks, and hadn’t thought about that part yet. In Leah’s interview, she said she was happy to donate her time and voice for the Fortune Society, but she wanted to make sure all her bases were covered legally. She asked what Garth thought about an article saying he was LuAnn’s new boyfriend, and LuAnn said they were laying low and taking a break. In her interview, LuAnn said she and Garth weren’t hot and heavy. They were having a good time, and liked each other’s company, but they’d sizzled then fizzled.

In LuAnn’s interview, she said she was lucky to be working with Bruce, who’d worked with Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer, and Billy, who’d worked with Liza Minelli for years. Ramona showed up first, and in her interview, she said she didn’t have a great voice. It had been until she was twelve, when her voice changed, and she hadn’t kept up with singing. This was for a good cause, so she’d figure out how to make it work. She sang, and I thought, good luck with that. In Ramona’s interview, she thought she did fine. She wasn’t the best singer, but had good energy. When she left, LuAnn asked Billy if he was exhausted, but Billy said Ramona was good natured. LuAnn said she wasn’t expecting Adele. Sonja was next, and in her interview, she said she loved working with Billy. He was iconic, nice, and made you sound good. Eboni came in while Sonja was singing, and in Eboni’s interview, she said she was not a singer, but LuAnn asked for this sh*t, so she was going to get it. She hoped LuAnn wasn’t looking for Whitney. This was not it. Billy asked for the next victim. In Leah’s interview, she said she was happy to do the song, but feeling ambivalent because she wanted a contract. She told LuAnn that she’d spoken to her attorney, who told her to ask, who owns the song? How would it be distributed, and, if they used samples, was she liable for anything? Bruce said only the three of them were publishing it, and it was totally original. In LuAnn’s interview, she said, talk about timing. She and Leah talked about this already, and now is definitely not the time to talk about it when the producer is there. LuAnn told Leah that everything they were making was going to the Fortune Society. Leah said, forever? and LuAnn said if Leah wasn’t comfortable, there were plenty of girls who would want to do it. Leah asked why LuAnn was being defensive, and LuAnn asked why Leah was. Leah said LuAnn attacking her was making her uncomfortable. Billy told her to look at it as a donation, and Leah said that was all she wanted to know. In her interview, Leah said she loved LuAnn and loved Christmas songs – even though she was converting – and it was nothing personal. In LuAnn’s interview, she said she’d had the Christmas spirit going, and it was like she’d been having a party, and Leah came in and shut the music off. Leah did some unnecessary warm-up exercises, and sang pretty well.

In LuAnn’s interview, she said her friend Hank was like one of the girls, and had done their pageant in the Hamptons. He was helping with the party. In Bershan’s interview, she said it was round two, her second chance. It was their night, so she was going to chill. In Sonja’s interview, she said she was glad LuAnn’s concept was just them. Ramona realized she didn’t need 75 friends to celebrate with; they had each other. Sonja talked about the pageant to Hank, and said it had been a fun vibe, but she wasn’t drinking tonight, since they’d been wagging their fingers at her. In her interview, Sonja said when Bershan wasn’t saying stupid things and didn’t piss her off, she liked Bershan. She was probably great when she was sleeping. She had a boyfriend for six years that way. Billy said Sonja was afraid to drink, and Ramona said, wait an hour or two. The others arrive, and appetizers are served. In Leah’s interview, she said she was forgiven after almost setting Ramona’s backyard on fire, a week after meeting everyone. She supposed she had to extend  the same grace to Bershan. Nude model Kurt joined them, and Eboni wondered if he was going to be nude tonight. In Eboni’s interview, she said she almost forgot she saw his d*ck. It was nice. Clothed model Dylan also joined the party, and Sonja asked how Ramona knew him. Ramona said she met him through people, and in Sonja’s interview, she laughed, and said Ramona obviously didn’t want know how they met. Dylan gave Ramona flowers, and Hank introduced his friend Will. In her interview, Leah wondered if they couldn’t find new men. The last time she met William, it didn’t go well. I thought, oh, he’s that William, and Leah apologized, saying she was projecting her anger at past boyfriends onto William, and she shouldn’t do that. In her interview, Sonja says, that leaves Dylan up for grabs. Hank said he and LuAnn had a treat for them.

Two dudes in only jeans danced around, and in Bershan’s interview, she said, turning it up, strippers, music, dancing, and having fun. That’s what she thought they should be doing. In Ramona’s interview, she said she didn’t want a lap dance. She didn’t want anybody’s body close to hers. Wasn’t admiring from afar good enough? Leah reversed it, and gave one of the guys a lap dance. LuAnn gave a toast, saying she was so glad they were there together to celebrate. She’d known both Ramona and Sonja for almost 20 years, and loved them so much. Happy birthday. Now they could all drink. Sonja said, could they, or would there be things said afterward? LuAnn told Sonja to do Sonja, and in Sonja’s interview, she said it was no fun unless they did it together. Eboni and Leah literally discussed body parts on the terrace with Kurt, got confused as to the names of things, and Leah ended up googling it. In Eboni’s interview, she said Kurt seemed like the kind of man who’s studied the Kama Sutra, and had made it his business to know how to please a woman. This is why she respected him. She told the other women that she was hosting a Black Shabbat at a Jewish friend’s house. Ramona wondered why it wasn’t just a Shabbat, and Eboni said she was inviting Black friends, except for them. Ramona asked why she just didn’t say she was having people over, and Eboni said it was because they shared a culture. Ramona said, how about saying she’s having a party; want to come? In Ramona’s interview, she says she hoped it would be a fun night. Sometimes Eboni made it serious and lecture-like. Eboni said, because of covid, she was limited to the amount of people. She’d invited Black people she went to Israel with, and who had experienced the Jewish people and community with her. This was enough to make Bershan want to head for the hills, and in her interview, she said she didn’t need go to go to school for five hours. She could miss this party. Leah talked to the other women about LuAnn’s song, wondering how long LuAnn would be donating money from it. Ramona said she trusted LuAnn, and Leah said she just thought they should have gotten a release before they recorded. LuAnn caught wind of what was being discussed, and joined the group. She said Leah had come in talking about lawyers, and basically said she didn’t trust her. She was disappointed. Leah said she was just protecting herself, and Ramona applauded, saying, God bless LuAnn. She asked why Leah wanted to fight, and Leah said everyone was angry last year, when Dorinda and Sonja were on LuAnn about using Sonja and not paying her. We flashed back to that, and LuAnn told Leah not to overstep her boundaries. Leah said she would step wherever TF she wanted to. Her lawyer said if she did the song, they should have a release. LuAnn told her, lawyer up. She wouldn’t find anything.

LuAnn said she would cut off her right arm for Leah, and Eboni said Leah just wanted to ask questions. It wasn’t about LuAnn’s integrity. In Eboni’s interview, she said it wasn’t her norm, but she just figured they’d get to the paperwork later. Although if it hadn’t been for charity, it would have been the first thing she did. Leah said she hoped if LuAnn made millions later (as if), she’d give them something, and in her interview, she said, all she wanted to know was how the money was going to be donated, and for how long. In LuAnn’s interview, she said she was upset that Leah didn’t get it. Leah was talking to LuAnn’s girlfriends about legal issues that hadn’t come up, at a party she was hosting. They sang Happy Birthday, and the cakes came out – a vagina and a penis, with two candles on each of them. No surprise, since Leah took on that task. Leah told LuAnn that it wasn’t about her integrity or trusting her, but about protecting their friendship. LuAnn said she just hadn’t gotten to it yet, and Leah said she’d cut off her right arm for LuAnn too. LuAnn said Leah had nothing to worry about. In her interview, LuAnn said Leah not trusting her was upsetting. She hoped they could move on, and get to that bridge when they got to it. Ramona left, no doubt for a date, and in Sonja’s interview, she said none of them was perfect, but when she gelled with her girls, she was reminded of why she was friends with them. Ramona told William that she’d text him her address.

Next time, Leah talks about her rabbi, Eboni finds out about Ashley, Ramona argues for Sonja’s family money, the Christmas song video is made, and Dylan calls, saying Sonja is passed out in his hotel room.

🍵 Tea You Tomorrow…

Just soap on Wednesday, since RHOBH is taking a break this week, and the finale of Family Karma and RHOP is airing. Until then, stay safe, stay taking it a step at a time, and stay keeping your hands off other people’s paperwork, even if you think it’s for a good cause.
