What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sam hugs Jason. She asks if he saw Danny, and he says Danny is in the yard with whatever Annabelle is living there now. She hopes they don’t destroy the flowerbeds, but he says Monica said the gardener will replant if they do. Sam says, after Oscar, she’s probably glad to see life goes on. He thanks her for covering for him, and she says, Shiloh has no idea who kicked in the door and knocked him out.

Alexis asks Kristina how she slept, and Kristina says, great. Alexis says she looks refreshed, and she says she is. Kristina sees the table is set, and asks if Alexis cooked. Alexis says, God no. Kristina’s sister made her a frittata with kale and some other healthy stuff in it. If she doesn’t want it, Alexis could try and make something else, but she doesn’t want to scare her. Kristina says the frittata is fine, but she’s been meaning to talk to Alexis. How much freedom does she have while she’s living there?

Kim sits at the counter at Charlie’s. Julian asks if she’s sure he can’t get her something to eat, but she’s not that hungry. He says he’s trying to take care of her. She says she knows. Him being with her last night made things easier. She doesn’t know how she would have done it alone. He can’t imagine what she’s feeling, and she hopes he never does. He says he’s got her if she needs anything. She says she knows, but she’s got to get going. He says she’s not back at the hospital yet, is she? She says she’s still on a leave of absence, but she owes someone a visit.

Chase asks if Willow is all right. She says she’s just anxious. It’s hard to talk about Wiley. She kept the truth to herself for so long, it’s strange saying it out loud. He asks if she regrets telling him, but she says she knows she can trust him. It’s Shiloh who she doesn’t trust. What if he realizes Wiley is his son?

Shiloh massages Brad’s temples. He asks if Brad feels better, and Brad says his heart has returned to a normal human rate. He needed that. Shiloh says he doesn’t have to come to the house to do relaxation exercises. Just do them when he feels anxious. Brad says he’s been climbing the walls since Wiley’s birth mother has been making inroads.

Sonny, Michael, and Mike are at Kelly’s. Mike says they must be celebrating something. Sonny says, the family just got great news. Mike says, that’s right. Michael is about to become a father.

Anna brings coffee to Finn’s office as a token of thanks. He was wonderful last night, He says she makes it easy. She says she means the way he talked her down. She thinks acceptance is kind of freeing. Peter probably isn’t her son, but she can’t prove it one way or the other. She just has to leave it there, move on, and get on with living. Finn says, sounds like a plan. They kiss, and Robert barges in. He says he figured he’d find Anna there. She asks if it isn’t too early for bureau affairs, but he says, it’s more personal. Finn asks if they want privacy. Anna says they’re not kicking him out of his office, and whatever Robert has to say, he can say in front of Finn. Robert says he thinks he found a way to determine if Alex is Peter’s mother.

Robert says he called Frisco, and asks if Anna remembers Dimitri Merrick. She says, Alex’s ex-husband. Robert says it was a tumultuous divorce, and he still had a lot of her paperwork. If they cross reference it with her records, they can determine where Alex was at the time. Anna says, thank Dimitri for his offer, but she’s not interested. Robert asks, why? She says sorry she wasted his time, but she doesn’t want to pursue it. She tells him, leave Alex’s past alone. Is she clear?

Michael asks if Mike is thinking about Jonah. He didn’t make it. Mike apologizes, and Michael says, it’s okay. Sonny says Mike is just confused, and Michael says he’s close. His mom and dad are having a baby. Mike remembers, and says, he gets to be a grandfather again. How lucky is he? Michael has to take off. He wants to see Kristina before he goes to work. After he leaves, Mike asks Sonny why Michael is going to see Kristina. Sonny says, Kristina has been going through a rough time. That’s why she hasn’t been by to see him lately. Mike asks if she’s doing better now, and Sonny says, she’s getting better all the time.

Alexis suggests that she and Kristina take it day by day. Kristina knows Alexis probably has a list of rules, and Alexis says she doesn’t. Well, one. She wants to put in a moat, so they can stay in there all day. Kristina says, a moat would be nice. Maybe some koi. Alexis doesn’t want Kristina to feel like a prisoner. Neil said she and Sonny can’t make decisions for her. They have to trust her to make the right ones. Kristina thanks her, and Alexis says, there’s one caveat. As long as Kristina is there, she can’t see Shiloh or anyone from DOD. Kristina says, that’s fair. Alexis hugs her, and says she loves Kristina so much. Kristina says she loves Alexis too. Alexis can’t wait until Shiloh is out of their lives, and Kristina flashes back to signing her Pledge. Kristina says that makes two of them, and sits down to eat.

There’s a knock at Charlie’s door. It’s Lucas. He tells Kim that he heard about Oscar, and he’s so sorry for her loss. He hugs her, and says, Oscar was a great kid. Kim says, he was, and tells Julian that she’ll catch him later. She leaves, and Lucas says he can’t imagine what she’s going through. If anything happened to Wiley, he doesn’t think he could go on. Julian gets Lucas some coffee, and says he was surprised to get his message. Why does Lucas want to talk to him about his family? Lucas says, something is going on with Brad.

Shiloh tells Brad that he didn’t think the birth mother was in the picture. Brad says, she’s not supposed to be. It was a closed adoption. Shiloh asks what about the father, but Brad says, he’s never been in the picture. He’s not sure the mother even knew who he was. She picked him and Lucas as the adoptive parents, and chose the terms, and now she wants to change them. Shiloh asks, in what way? Brad says, she lives in Port Charles, and keeps finding ways to insert herself in Wiley’s life. It’s making him uncomfortable. Shiloh says it’s not uncommon with members of DOD. We have two families; our biological family, and our chosen family. DOD is a chosen family, and everyone has to make a choice of what works best for them. Wiley is too young to decide for himself, so Brad and Lucas have to decide for him. Brad wants the birth mother to stay away for good, but he’s not getting through. Shiloh suggests Brad bring her there. Maybe he can help.

Alexis tells Kristina that she has a visitor. Kristina hugs Michael, and says he doesn’t have to worry about her anymore, but he says, that’s what older siblings do. She appreciates it. They’re family is dysfunctional and borderline crazy, but she’s lucky to have all of them. She asks if Alexis is crying, and Alexis says, no; it’s just sweet. Kristina says she meant every word, but she has to bail. She wants to apologize to Julian, and beg for her job back. Alexis offers to call, but Kristina says it’s something she needs to do for herself. She thanks Michael and jets. Alexis says, omg, she let Kristina leave. Please tell her it wasn’t a mistake. She has to start trusting Kristina to make her own decisions, and has to believe she saw the truth. A lot of it is due to Willow.

Chase wonders how Shiloh could find out about the baby, and Willow says, Brad is getting in deeper with DOD all the time. He’s taking parenting classes. Shiloh might have already held Wiley. Chase says, even if he did, he’d have no reason to suspect. She says she’s just being paranoid. Chase says, the adoption is final. Brad and Lucas are Wiley’s parents; signed, sealed, and delivered. Willow says, maybe not. Shiloh didn’t agree to the adoption. He doesn’t even know his baby exists. If he finds out, he could sue for custody, and would probably win. I’m not sure how she came to that conclusion, since it’s doubtful.  Oh wait, I was thinking this was the normal world.

Lucas tells Julian that Brad leaves before he does, and gets home late. He doesn’t even know how much sleep Brad is getting. He’s clearly stressing out. Julian asks what Lucas thinks it is, and Lucas says he knows Brad comes in there all the time, and he and Julian have gotten closer. Julian says, that’s an exaggeration, Lucas says, on Valentine’s Day, Julian and Brad spent more time talking with each other than their dates. He thinks Julian knows something, and has to tell him. It’s not just about him and Brad anymore; they have a little boy to consider. He doesn’t want Wiley hurt. Julian says he’s changed. Prove it. Tell him what’s going on with Brad.

Shiloh tells Brad, it sounds like Wiley’s mother could benefit from their teaching. Brad says, especially if he teaches the art of backing the hell off. Shiloh says that’s not exactly his focus, but everyone is welcome. Kim knocks on the door, and Shiloh asks Brad if they can have some privacy. Brad tells Kim that he’s sorry for her loss, and leaves. Shiloh is glad she came. She says she wanted to thank him for the photo he gave Drew. It came at a time when she needed it. She also appreciates him sending over the emails from Oscar’s friends there. They had lovely things to say about him. Shiloh says, Oscar made quite an impression at the house, and Kim says, he had a way of doing that. He doesn’t know where she’s at spiritually, but urges her to think of Oscar’s passing as a return home. He’s not lost or gone. He’s just transitioned to a different plain of existence. She says she didn’t come for spiritual guidance. She came to talk about her son.

Jason tells Sam that Shiloh’s on to them. He found Kristina’s Pledge, but there was nothing in it but blank pages. Sam says it’s a good thing she didn’t leave with him. He asks what she told Shiloh, and she says she told him that a crazed father came in, ranting about what Shiloh did to his daughter. It worked. Jason says she doesn’t have to worry about Shiloh anymore. She’s off the hook.

Mike thinks he upset Michael by bringing up Jonah. Sonny says Michael knows he made a mistake. Mike feels like jackass, but Sonny says Michael knows he didn’t mean any harm. Mike says, it’s a helluva thing, losing a child. It just shouldn’t be that way. Sonny says, no, it shouldn’t. Mike says when Sonny’s sister died, it was the worst feeling in the world. The only thing that got him through it was memories. Snapshots of her as a little girl and a young woman. Mike asks Sonny to promise him something. Promise that when he can’t remember Courtney anymore, that Sonny will remember for him. Sonny promises he will.

Julian says he wants to help, but all Lucas has done is accuse him of lying. Why do that when they’ve come so far? He doesn’t want to rehash the problem, but he doesn’t know where this is coming from. He’s respected the boundaries. It’s killing him that he can’t spend time with his grandson, but he’s honored their decision. Brad coming in there has nothing to do with that. Lucas apologizes, saying he’s just at a loss. When Brad comes in, does he talk about Wiley? Julian says, of course (🍷). It’s pretty obvious Brad is being a stressed out father. Lucas wonders why Brad doesn’t talk to him, and Julian says maybe Brad doesn’t want to disappoint him. Lucas asks how they can fix it if Brad is talking to everyone except him. Julian asks who else Brad is talking to, and Lucas says, the people at DOD. He’d rather Brad talked to Julian than waste time with those people. Julian asks if it isn’t a self-help group, and Lucas says, some people say it’s a cult.

Kim tells Shiloh that she and Oscar moved into his grandmother’s house for his last days. Shiloh is glad she has support, and asks if she’s still there. She says she was welcome to stay, but felt the need to get back to her apartment. He says, that must have been challenging, and she says, it was. When she got to the door, she found flowers, pictures, and letters. There was a beautiful tribute to her son at the door, and it made her feel good enough to continue on inside. They were memories of things he’d never told her about. She wonders if Shiloh could share a memory about Oscar’s time there. He says a memory popped into his head. He asks if she knows Daisy, and Kim says they met, and she seemed sweet. Shiloh says, she is, and she’s a wondaful cook. One night she prepared an amazing communal meal. When they were finished, and uncomfortably stuffed, they were talking about the canned food drive they were planning. Oscar couldn’t understand why the homeless had to eat canned food when they’d just finished this beautiful meal. They were so taken by Oscar’s sentiment, they changed the plan. They had a potluck dinner for the homeless instead, and it was beautiful. All because of her boy. She says, that sounds like Oscar. Shiloh says, he was really special. It made perfect sense when he found out Oscar was Drew’s son. Kim says, Oscar didn’t know his father until a couple of years ago. It was a coincidence they wound up in the same city. Shiloh says he doesn’t believe in coincidence.

Jason tells Sam about the intervention, saying Alexis and Sonny were there. Michael brought Willow, who told Kristina about her initiation. He thinks that’s what got thorough. Kristina knows Shiloh is a predator, and she’s done. Sam says, what about her Pledge? but he says, it doesn’t matter anymore.

Robert says it’s Anna’s big chance to prove Henrick isn’t her son. She says his name is Peter August. There’s no way to prove it, and he’s family to her and Robin. It doesn’t make any difference to her. Robert says it doesn’t make a difference that she didn’t sleep with Faison? It doesn’t make a difference that she didn’t get pregnant? She should be concerned about Henrick. She says, his name is Peter. Robert says, he’s Faison’s son, and now is her big chance to sever all ties. She says she’s not abandoning Peter. Robert says, he’s not a waif; he’s an adult, and could be every bit as treacherous as his father. Finn says, enough.

Finn says, Anna seems to have made her decision. She doesn’t want to pursue it. Anna says, the subject is closed. Robert asks, why? It’s not her decision alone; it affects him and Robin. Anna says he can go to Hungary, but it won’t change anything. She’s made her decision. She wants to have a relationship with Peter as her son. Robert says, and here he was, thinking they’d always have each other’s backs. He walks out.

Willow says part of her wants to tell Brad, so he understands to keep his distance. Chase says, telling anyone raises the risk. If Brad is a true believer he might tell Shiloh himself, which would open her up to legal liabilities. She says she’s damned if she does, and dammed if she doesn’t. He wishes he could advise her, but it’s over his head. He thinks she should talk to her lawyer, and go over the adoption.

Jason tells Sam, whatever Kristina said won’t be enough to get Sonny convicted. Sam says, but if Kristina betrayed him, she’ll feel guilty, and it will eat her alive. They have to find it, and make sure Shiloh can’t use it. Jason says, he can’t use it if he’s in the Pine Barrens, but Sam says, no way. Kristina will make the connection, and they know she’s fragile. She thinks there’s a better way to neutralize Shiloh.

Shiloh says Drew told him about a brilliant woman he knew in San Diego. Drew said he was close to her, so he assumes it was her. She says, could be. He says they might have been together a brief time, but it had a major impact on a spiritual level. Maybe he knew they were connected. Kim says, he never knew he had a son, but it’s nice to think so. He says he believes in Drew, and asks if he ever sent anything to her after he was deployed. A tangible reminder that he was thinking of her.

Julian asks Lucas, who said it was a cult? Lucas says, Willow, Michael’s friend. She was adamant about it. Julian asks how the subject came up, and Lucas says Brad wanted to take Wiley to DOD for a seminar. Willow overheard, and freaked out on them. She said they’d be terrible parents for even taking him there. They’ve only met once or twice, and he doesn’t know why Willow thinks she has a say in his parenting. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Brad. You’d think Lucas would have mentioned Valerie and Chase telling them about DOD first.

Brad says he didn’t realize Lucas would be there, and Lucas bets he didn’t. He asks if everything is okay, and says they should talk outside. They leave, and Brad tells Lucas not to be upset. Lucas asks what Brad is doing there, and Brad says, getting breakfast. Lucas says Charlie’s isn’t open yet, but Brad says he was going to work on some email while he waited. He tells Lucas to stop being mad. Lucas says he was, but Julian thinks Brad is really going through something. He says Brad doesn’t have to go to DOD or Shiloh. Brad can talk to him.

Kim tells Shiloh that she and Drew weren’t in contact after he was deployed. He only left her a CD of songs he put together. That, and Oscar. Shiloh laughs, and says, the best gift of all. She appreciates him taking the time to talk to her, but she has to go. He tells her, just know if there’s anything he can do, if she wants to share her feelings, everyone in the house is there for her. She thinks it will take some time before she opens up to a group of strangers. She thanks him again for the photo and his time. It means a lot.

Mike tells Sonny that he’s glad to hear Kristina is doing better. Tell her to come and see him. Robert walks in, and Sonny says he’ll be right back. Robert tells Sonny, it’s a damn bad time, but Sonny doesn’t give a damn. He wants to know what’s going on with Dante.

Finn tells Anna that he’s sorry if he overstepped. She says his opinion matters more than Robert’s; he’s so biased. Finn says her opinion is the only one that matters to him. If she says Peter is her son, he supports her. She wishes Robert could see it like that, but he he can’t get past the fact that Peter is Faison’s son. He’s nothing like Faison. She says she’s not letting Robert ruin their day, and Finn thinks they still might be able to salvage part of it. She asks if he has something in mind, and he says he has something special planned.

Anna asks if Finn wants to give her a hint, but he says, where’s the fun in that? She says she can probably figure it out. He says he doesn’t think even she can do that. She says she’ll see him tonight. He says, then, until tonight, and kisses her. She leaves, and he calls Robert. He says, this has been going on long enough. Robert has his ring, and he wants it back tonight.

Robert goes outside Kelly’s with Sonny. Mike says he forgot something, and goes to the counter. He picks up the jewelry box with the ring in it, and looks inside.

Robert tells Sonny there’s not a lot he can say about Dante’s debriefing. Sonny asks if he can send Dante a message. There’s a lot going on with the family. Robert says it might motivate Dante to come out early, and they don’t want to jeopardize his progress. Sonny tells him to make sure his people get Dante back to himself, but Robert says, no guarantees. Dante is being treated by experts, but that doesn’t mean he can come back and pick up his life where he left it.

Kim returns to Charlie’s, and Julian asks how it went. She says, it was good. She had a conversation with Shiloh about Oscar. Julian says, Shiloh from DOD? like Shiloh is a common name in Port Charles. She says it’s a little too Zen for her liking, but he was kind and tried to be comforting.

Willow calls Diane, and leaves a message for her to call back. It’s important. Chase thinks she’s doing the right thing. Her phone dings, but Willow says it’s an email from the principal about a last minute parent meeting. Chase says everything will be okay. She hopes so.

Michael tells Alexis it will take some adjusting. She thinks the therapy worked, but that Willow affected Kristina most of all. She didn’t know that Shiloh would brand her with a tattoo, and about the sexual assault. When Willow talked about that, she imagined her daughter in Willow’s place; it blew her mind. She’s grateful, and prays the breakthrough is final, and Kristina doesn’t backslide.

Shiloh is about to leave, and finds Kristina on the porch. He says, she came back.

Sam tells Jason that they’re going to beat Shiloh at his own game. They’re going to blackmail him. Jason asks, with what? and she says, the initiation is illegal. Drugging people is assault, and having sex with them while they’re drugged is sexual assault. They have to let Shiloh finish his initiation with her and record it.

Tomorrow, Laura tells Curtis that they need to find Ryan before he finds them, Neil tells Alexis that she has to trust her daughter, and Kristina tells Shiloh that she’d appreciate it if he gave her Pledge back. Good luck with that.

🎩 When I started watching Project Runway, I got confused, thinking they were in Kentucky. That was a previous season of Top Chef. I knew it was bound to happen someday that I’d get mixed up about what I was watching. That used to happen to me when I watched several soaps. The challenge was to design an Elton John early performance piece, inspired by the biopic Rocketman,. Costume designer for the movie, Julian Day – who looks like an Amish dude with a nose ring – was the guest judge. Everyone freaked over having male models, which pretty much continued throughout the show. Even I was annoyed when a contestant got glue on the iron (it was assumed by doing facing), told no one, and Lela ended up with it on her project. In a prominent spot. At the runway, when the first model walked out, Brandon said he was not ready for this, since he didn’t even drink yet today. The way the judges kept talking about Elton, I kept thinking he was dead. The designers were helped by former contestants, and Sonia was irritated because Garo didn’t give her credit when he was praised. Brandon noted that Tessa had never finished a hem. It was a good thing once again that Hester had immunity (the last one for the season), as the judges weren’t thrilled with her rooster suit. It did kind of look like a homemade Halloween costume. It seems like with Hester, it’s either a tremendous win or an epic fail. It was a close call for the win between Bishme and Garo. Bishme paired a jumpsuit with a graphic tee and overcoat, which he said was inspired by (I Guess That’s Why) They Call It the Blues. This was my personal favorite, and oddly enough, that’s one of my favorite Elton John songs. Garo ended up the winner with a silver explosion that had a corseted waist and silver flames on the boots. I was hoping Tessa would be out. Not for the unfinished hems, but because she’s kind of snarky (but not in a good way) and full of excuses. It was Lela who was shown the door though, for a bad fit and not doing justice to Elton. If anyone did have an excuse, she was the one, since I think the whole glue thing threw her off. There was no way to try and remove it without making it worse, so she struggled to find a cover-up. I was kind of surprised too, that it wasn’t Venny, whose work was deemed cheap and unfinished. His model’s pants were more on the ground than the pants General Larry Platt sang about on American Idol. The back hem was like a train and just did not work. Even Venny was praying the model didn’t take a spill on the runway. On her way out, Lela agreed it wasn’t her best work, and said it had meant a lot to be there. She’d come a long way, and was proud of herself. It was a tremendous honor. Karlie told her that she would do great things. Next time, the designers have to create something that evokes a cause they care about, and in addition to using models, will also be modeling themselves.

🍹 As a filler, Bravo aired a half-hour of Southern Charm: How They Got Here, but it didn’t include last season. It was still fun to go down Charleston Memory Lane, and they also showed a sneak peek of season six. It looks promising. Fox hunting, grape stomping, Patricia getting fast food, Craig turning into an a-hole again, and #HiAshley. Cameran also hopes they’re not all subpoenaed.

⛵ Below Deck Mediterranean will return on Monday, June 3rd at 9 pm. Call me Captain Sandy.

🎤 Ah, The Good Old Days…

Before American Idol got boring.
