What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Jogging through the park, Sonny comes face to face with Josslyn, who’s jogging the other way. She stops a moment, then continues on, but he calls to her. He says, if she has something to say, just say it, and she stops.

Willow says, it’s a fantastic opportunity for Drew, and what a compliment McConkey wants him. Drew says, definitely intriguing, and she says, intriguing was the total eclipse a month ago. He’s being recruited to run for a powerful congressman’s seat by that very congressman. Isn’t he excited? He says, obviously not as excited as she is. He is. It’s a rush. It’s kind of crazy and obviously an honor, but what makes her think he can do this? And he’s not fishing for compliments here. He really wants to know. She says, is he kidding? He singlehandedly changed the course of her life and her family’s life. He risked his life for her. He genuinely cares about people. Think about what he could do with more resources on a bigger scale with a wider stage. Michael comes in and asks if this is about the New Tomorrow Institute. He’s not interrupting a work session, is he? Willow says, actually, Drew has something important to tell him.

At Bobbie’s, Molly tells Dante that she heard this wedding was really something. Very eventful. He asks if she talked to Kristina, but she says, Sam. She hasn’t actually talked to Kristina since the wedding. She’s got a lot going on at work and had to tie up a bunch of things so she can take time off when the baby comes. He says, oh yeah, the baby. Congrats. Did she have TJ painting the nursery or something like that? She says, no, but she should, and he says, she should. Get TJ working. She gets some to-go coffee, when Dex walks in. She says she’d better get going. She’ll see him later. She leaves, and Dante thanks Dex for meeting him.

Outside, Molly runs into Blaze, who says, it’s been a minute. Molly says she knows. Her family calls her a workaholic and she’d love to deny it, but… Has Blaze seen Kristina lately? Blaze says she just left Kristina at her mom’s house. Molly’s mom’s house actually. She wanted to see how Alexis is doing. Molly says she’s headed there too, after she drops some things off at the courthouse. The Davis girls will be in full support. Blaze says, they should hang out soon – her and Kristina, and Molly and TJ. Molly says, yes. She would love that. Maybe they could all talk about what went down at this eventful wedding.

On the phone at Alexis’s place, Sam tells Alexis, no problem. Just get here as soon as she can… No, Molly’s not here yet… Okay. She’ll see her soon. She loves her. Kristina asks if she said anything about Gregory. How does she sound? Sam says, okay-ish, and Kristina says she hopes Alexis is all right. She’s just been so upset since Gregory passed. Sam says, yeah. She knows Gregory’s death hit her pretty hard. They were supposed to the wedding together until the hearing came up. Kristina says she hopes it was worth it. She’s just worried that if their mom loses her law license, she… Sam says, don’t say that, please. Because she worries too, but they have to remember that sometimes mom is a lot stronger than they give her credit for. And so is Kristina. Kristina says, that’s a lovely sentiment. Why is Sam looping her in with that? Sam says, because sometimes things can get conflicted, and Kristina is fiercely loyal and protective to the people she loves. And she has to be just as fiercely loyal and protective to herself, and Sam believes she will. Kristina says, Sam believes she will what? and Sam says, when push comes to shove, she believes Kristina will do the right thing, even if it comes at a cost to Sonny.

Maxie comes home and says, sorry everyone. There was a fragrance emergency. Felicia, James, Spinelli, and Georgie are sitting on the sofa, and Spinelli tells James, the reason his Minecraft login has been so glitchy is because of cookies. Georgie tells James that she told him not to be using the laptop while eating. There’s dried frosting caked around the clutch pad. Spinelli says, the cookies he’s talking about are of the cyber variety. He suspects James has accumulated a great number of those pesky website cookies, which slows down the process. He’ll run a quick clean-up app… and voila! He’s back in business. Georgie says, Spinelli is the best, and thanks him. Maxie clears her throat, and Spinelli says, she’s home. Felicia says, they were so engrossed in Spinelli’s wizardry, they didn’t hear her come in. Georgie says she tried for two hours to find out what was wrong with the computer. Dad fixed it in like, ten minutes. The same way he did when she was writing that paper and the computer crashed. She thought she’d lost it, but he saved it. Maxie says, Georgie’s dad is a tech genius. There’s no question about that. Georgie says, and he’s super handy to have around, and James says, it was great when he lived here. He asks Spinelli if he can’t move back in. Please?

Blaze tells Molly, don’t worry about Kristina. She’s still a bit fragile, but she’s doing better. Molly says, she’s fragile? Why? Blaze says, Molly was just talking about the wedding. She thought Molly knew. Molly says, seems they just got their wires crossed. What? Blaze says she thinks Molly should talk to Kristina about it, and Molly says, but Blaze is right here. Blaze says, it’s none of her business. If Kristina wants to tell Molly everything, that’s up to her. Molly says, but Blaze just said she’s fragile. Kris might interpret any well-meaning questions she might ask as an interrogation, and that might really blow things up between them. Blaze says, okay. Kristina’s father went after Dex and Kristina saw the whole thing. She called Blaze from the ladies’ room, hysterical, sobbing, hyperventilating. At first, Blaze was afraid it was the baby, but it wasn’t. In fact, she suggested they go to the ER, but Kristina didn’t want to. She just needed to calm down. Molly says she just caught a glimpse of Dex’s face inside. He looks really banged up. If Kristina saw that, no wonder she’s so upset. Blaze says, she was, but she’s doing fine now. Really. Molly says, okay, thanks Blaze for letting her know, and leaves.

Kristina says, obviously, Sam knows what happened at the wedding, so who told her? Sam says, Sonny. He stopped by looking for Dante and gave her his version of the story. Kristina says, that explains why Dante has been blowing up her phone, and Sam says, she hasn’t spoken to Dante? Kristina says, she’s been busy, and Sam says, busy avoiding his phone calls? Dante is worried about her and so is she. Kristina says, Sam just got finished telling her how strong she is, and Sam says, wow. Kristina was actually listening to her. Strong people hurt too. She’s just worried Kristina is carrying this weight about what to do about Sonny, and it’s wearing on her. Kristina says, it’s already been decided. Dex isn’t filing charges. Sam asks how she feels about that, and Kristina says, how does she feel about her dad not potentially facing prison? Sam says, that, and the fact that he hurt Dex and isn’t going to have to face any consequences, and Kristina says, at the end of the day, he has to face himself. And he knows what he did. And he knows that she knows what he did. Sam says, that’s wrong, when Alexis walks in. Kristina tells Sam, they’ll talk tomorrow, and Sam makes a zipping motion across her mouth. Kristina says she’s so sorry about Gregory, and hugs Alexis. Sam hugs her and asks how she’s doing, and Alexis says she’s okay. They didn’t have to upend their day and come over here, but she’s glad they did. Kristina says, they brought lunch, and Alexis says, that’s sweet. Kristina asks, how was Albany? and Alexis suggests they talk about that when Molly gets here. She tells Kristina that she looks pale, and Sam says, that’s because she stays out of the sun. Alexis should try it sometime. She’s fine.

Dante and Dex sit at a table, and Dante asks if Dex is doing okay. Dex says, the stitches brought down his deductible, and Dante says he guesses it could have been worse. Dex says, thanks to Jason, it wasn’t, and Dante says he guesses Dex has a decision to make. Dex says, it’s already made. He’s not going to be filing charges. Dante asks, why not? and Dex says, partly for Kristina. She was a witness and he’s not going to put her through that with the baby coming. He can’t do that to her, even though she told him not to back off for her sake. Kristina’s always been a friend to him. What kind of a friend would he be if he made her testify against her father? Dante says, Dex told him that Kristina was part of the reason. What’s the other part? Dex says, best case scenario, Sonny gets a year and some change behind bars. That’s after a bitter court battle where he ends up getting dragged through the mud. So is it worth it? Why bother for such little benefit? Sonny would still have reach and would still probably run his organization. And on his release, Sonny would have him killed, assuming he even waited that long.

Josslyn says she’s not wasting her breath sharing her thoughts with Sonny, and he’s not going to listen anyway. Sonny says, maybe not, but she can get it off her chest, and she says, they used to be honest with each other. He was her stepfather. He was there for her when Oscar died. He was there for everyone with Mike. But he’s not that person anymore. He thinks that he can do whatever he wants to anyone at any time and he never has to pay for it. Sonny says, she’s very young. She doesn’t know what he’s been through. She says she knows that he should be in jail for what he did to Dex. He should be locked up, praying that all of his prior crimes don’t get Diane laughed out of court. How about him not even being grateful to Dex? He says, grateful for what? For Dex trying to rat him out to the PCPD? She says, he attacked Dex, unprovoked. He threatened to kill Dex, but he walked out again because Dex isn’t pressing charges. He asks why Dex backed off, and she says, out of concern for the people Sonny so willingly shoved aside. Dex did it for Sonny’s kids.

Michael says, Drew would be taking McConkey’s seat and McConkey is backing him? and Drew says, McConkey is retiring and thought he’d make a good candidate. Willow says, he came to Drew and proposed it to him. Isn’t that amazing? Michael says, it is. He had no idea Drew was interested in politics. Drew says he’s not disinterested. Obviously, he’s never thought about running for office until McConkey pitched it to him. Willow says, McConkey made the right call. She’d vote for him. Drew says, what about Michael? He values Michael’s opinion and wants to hear it. Obviously there would be implications for Aurora. Michael says, off the top of his head, he thinks it’s a dicey time to split focus with the launch of the new wellness division. Curtis at the helm is the right choice, but he lacks C-suite experience, so they were counting on Drew’s supervision there. Drew says, he’d catch on. He’s not worried about it. Plus, Michael is up on that. Michael says, if Drew is elected, he’s going to have to put his stock into a blind trust, and he knows the SEC is going to be watching. Drew says, no doubt about it, and Michael says, he’ll have to take time away from the company, robbing Aurora of his vision and guidance. Drew says, all valid points, and Michael says he’s sorry, but Drew asked. If Drew was hoping for a blanket endorsement, he’s sorry. He can’t give it to him.

Molly hugs Alexis and says she’s so sorry. Gregory was such an amazing guy. Alexis says, it’s a little hard to believe he’s gone. She knew he had ALS, and she knew what that meant. She knew he was declining, but she just didn’t expect it this way or this soon. They just jumped out of a plane together. Sam says, they all know the parachute opened. The jump worked. How about the appeal? Alexis says, how about the appeal? and Molly says, that bad? Alexis says, it wasn’t good. It turns out Neil’s brother, Fergus Byrne, sat on the disciplinary committee when her case first came up. Molly says, Neil’s brother? That’s a massive conflict of interest. Alexis tells her, that’s what she and Diane said. They gave a strong argument. They fought hard and he fought dirty. He put a tainted take on everything she said. Kristina says, hopefully, the judges will see right through that, but Alexis says she doesn’t think the odds are very good, so she’s going to prepare herself for a ruling against her. Sam asks how long that will take, and Alexis says, thirty days, a month. Kristina says, that long? They’re really going to make her wait that whole time? Molly says, she was right to fight. However this goes, she’s proud of Alexis standing up for herself and making the appeal. Alexis says, at least they know who turned her in for perjury – Ava Jerome.

Josslyn says she was with Dex when Michael asked him to reconsider turning Sonny in, and Sonny says, Michael? She says, yes, Michael. His son. The one he had renounced. Kristina was such a wreck over what might happen to Sonny, that she went to Michael and asked him to fix it. Which meant going to Dex, and that’s what Michael did. Sonny asks if he’s supposed to be grateful to Michael, but she says, no. That would mean he’d have to see the good in other people instead of focusing on himself. So no, she doesn’t expect him to be grateful. Just know that if he lifts his hand against Dex again, the only reason he can is because the man he wanted dead had the grace to let him go. She runs off.

Dante tells Dex that Sonny came to him and told him what happened. His version of the story at least. That’s how he found out. Dex says he sees, and Dante says he told Sonny that he wasn’t going to step in, so he’s not here on Sonny’s behalf. Dex says he didn’t think Dante was, and Dante says, but also, he didn’t arrest Sonny either. The least he could do was warn Sonny, make him understand the gravity of the situation. That if something had happened to Dex, or if something does happen to Dex, Sonny is the one they’re going to come looking for. Dex asks if he thinks it made a difference, but Dante says he doesn’t know. In the past, when he’s had these conversations with his father, they had deterrent. But now he doesn’t know what’s going on. He has his temper, sure, but he never openly flouted the law, and right now, he’s acting like he’s untouchable. So Dante guesses he misjudged his father. Like he misjudged Dex.

Kristina says, unbelievable. Ava, of all people? She murdered Connie, she sabotaged Morgan, and she goes to the bar and tries to get Alexis’s license taken away for what potentially amounts to a white lie? Molly says, Ava is vicious and ruthless, but she’s smart. She knew where to hit Alexis where it would hurt her the most. As far as she’s concerned, Ava took away Alexis’s law license. Alexis says, she had help – Fergus Byrne, and Molly says, that guy should have been disbarred, not Alexis. Alexis says, no kidding. They pointed out the conflict of interest and she doesn’t know if it swayed the judges or not. She hopes so, but at least it’s on the record. Sam says she’s proud Alexis stood up for herself, and Molly says, yeah. Even when the outcome they want isn’t guaranteed. Kristina’s phone dings and she says, it’s Dante. She’s got to handle this. Sam suggests she drive Kristina there, and Alexis thanks them for coming by. Kristina hugs her, and Alexis says, they always make her feel better. Sam hugs Alexis, and Alexis tells them, be careful. Sam says, she knows they will, and leaves with Kristina. Alexis asks Molly, what’s up? She didn’t even touch her food. She doesn’t want Molly to worry that she’s going to start drinking. She’s sober. Resolutely so. Molly says she’s glad to hear Alexis say that. She’s really proud of Alexis. She’s sorry. She’s just really got a lot on her mind. Alexis asks, what’s on her mind? but Molly says, today’s not about her. Alexis says, today is about them. So again, what’s on her mind? Molly asks how Kristina seemed to Alexis just now, and Alexis says, pale… subdued… Why? Molly says, because apparently, Sonny lost it and assaulted somebody at the wedding right in front of her.

Dante says he’s been avoiding Dex at the station because he didn’t want people thinking he was indirectly pressuring Dex to protect Sonny. Dex says he’s been avoiding Dante too. To be clear, he never felt any kind of pressure from Dante. He will admit, he was a little worried when Dante asked to meet with him today. Dante says, at worst, they probably think he doubts Dex as a cop, but he doesn’t. He thinks it’s pretty cool that Dex is trying to turn his life around. Dex says, that’s all he’s out to do. He should have never gotten tangled up with Sonny. Working for Sonny was turning him into someone he never meant to be. He just wants to put that behind him. He wants to do better and be better. Earn a badge and be worthy of it. Dante says, that’s good to hear. He appreciates Dex. Dex helped save his life and he’s grateful Dex isn’t pressing charges, mainly for Kristina. Dex says he’s witnessed how much Sonny loves his kids. He’s probably shaken up about letting Kristina down. Dante says he used to think that, but right now he just doesn’t know.

Maxie asks James, whose idea was it to ask Spinelli to move back in? Was it Georgie’s or grandma’s? James says, it was his idea, and Georgie says, but it’s a good one. And she’s here for it. She begs Spinelli, please, dad, move back in. They love having him around and he’s really a help around the house. Felicia says, good point, and Maxie looks at her. Felicia says, who wants ice cream? Come on. Let’s go find a treat. Follow her. Georgie tells James, that’s grandma’s way of giving them time to talk, and they leave with Felicia. Maxie says she thought Spinelli was coming over for dinner. It’s a little early. He says he was, and he hopes to still stay. He doesn’t think Georgie and James engineered his early arrival. He thinks the computer was truly buggy. She says she’s glad it was because it gives them a moment to talk. She didn’t want to say this in front of the kids and didn’t want to put him on the spot, but she misses having him here too. She would love it if he’d move back in.

Willow says she thought Michael would understand why it’s so important for Drew to run, but Drew says, it’s okay. He asked for Michael’s opinion. He wanted to hear what Michael had to say, and that’s what he has to say. He’s pragmatic. He’s looking out for Aurora and looking out for him. This is what he needs to hear. Michael says, McConkey was already facing a challenge from an opponent who’s been running for months. Drew is late coming in. Willow says, Drew has a name and has his own money, but Michael says, his opponent will try to accuse Drew of buying a congressional seat. Willow says, politics gets dirty. Opponents say anything. Michael says, speaking of, expect mudslinging. That’s going to be very hard to shake off. Drew says he can handle that, and Willow says, and let’s not forget about McConkey’s endorsement. Michael says, it will only get Drew so far up. Worst case, Drew loses, and the wellness division’s rollout is compromised, and Aurora is destabilized, right after they’re recovering from the stock inflation scandal. Drew says, all sound arguments for why he shouldn’t run, and Michael says, Drew asked for his opinion. He thinks Drew has more to lose than he does to win. Willow says she couldn’t disagree more.

Josslyn sees Blaze stretching in the park, and Blaze asks, how was her run? Josslyn says, it was good. She had to let off some steam. Blaze says she hears that. Nice seeing her. Josslyn asks how Kristina is doing, and Blaze says, Kristina was doing better, until she let slip to Molly what happened between Dex and Sonny, and how Kristina reacted. Molly is the last person Kristina would want to worry about her. Josslyn says, welcome to the madness. She’s sorry Blaze was pulled into it. Blaze says, Kristina’s worth it. She just wishes she had a better perspective about things weeks ago. In fact, she owes Josslyn an apology. Josslyn says, for what? and Blaze says, she was right about Sonny.

Molly tells Alexis, Blaze said Kristina witnessed Sonny going after Dex and just got all hysterical. She did some quiet checking with Anna, and yeah, Sonny assaulted Dex. Apparently, it would have been much worse if Jason hasn’t pulled Sonny off, and Kristina witnessed the whole thing. Alexis says, it must have been terrifying for her, and Molly says she imagines it must have been terrifying for Dex too. He’s elected to not file charges, which is his right, but she can’t worry about him right now. She’s just worried about Kristina and the baby. Kristina didn’t even call her. She hasn’t said a thing about it. If she hadn’t run into Blaze, she wouldn’t know Kristina had some meltdown in the ladies’ room. Alexis says, Kristina didn’t mention it to her either, but she’s sure it’s because Kristina was worried that she had too much going on. Molly says she doesn’t know if Kristina is keeping quiet because she’s the ADA or because Kristina doesn’t want her hovering, which of course (🍷) is her natural instinct because Kristina is her sister. And she’s carrying their baby. So now, she’s tiptoeing around Kristina’s boundaries, but what about hers? Doesn’t she have a right to know about Kristina’s emotional and physical state? Alexis says she understands. Kristina should have told her. Molly says she can’t even bring it up to Kristina because she risks setting Kristina off. So now she’s in this horrible position of having to choose whether to tell TJ or hide it from TJ, knowing full well he’ll go straight to Kristina if he knows, which will absolutely set her off. So what is she supposed to do?

Kristina meets Dante at Bobbie’s and says, Sam told her that dad came looking for him yesterday, so she assumes that’s why he wanted to talk to her. Dante says, yeah, he did, but that’s not why he’s here. He’s here for her, because she’s his sister and he loves her. She says, sorry. She’s been kind of a mess since the wedding. He says, nobody should be subjected to that. She shouldn’t have witnessed something like that. She says, dad tracked her down after and tried to justify it. But anything he said, or ever said, is ever going to make her forget that image. He was hitting Dex and the blood was dripping down his face, and he was yelling at Dex that he was going to kill him, and Jason. It was awful. Dante says, Dex is okay. He just talked to Dex. She says, well she’s not okay. She’s all over the place. All she kept thinking about at first was, this can’t be happening. Then she was looking at him and thinking, that can’t be my dad. But it was. She knows her dad has flaws and she knows he’s hurt people, but not like that. Not directly, physically, or maybe he has. She doesn’t know. The man that she saw was so ugly and full of rage. It was like he was wearing a mask or something. Or maybe he’s been wearing a mask this whole time when he’s with her. Dante says, it’s a complicated situation, and Kristina says, Dante’s seen him like that before, hasn’t he, when Sonny shot him. Dante says he doesn’t know actually. It was quite the opposite. He was like a stone, unemotional. It was like shooting him was nothing. She says, it wasn’t on purpose. It was an accident, right? That’s why he didn’t go to jail. He says, no. He lied about that.

Dex is reading on a park bench, when Sonny comes up to him.

Maxie says she never should have kicked Spinelli out. She overreacted. He was really wonderful. The kids really miss him being here and so does she. Will he move back in? He tells her that he can’t believe he’s saying this, but he must respectfully and regretfully decline. He loves her. He doesn’t want to be roommates. He wants them to be partners. He wants to be a couple. She says she does too, and he asks how this would work. Would they share a bedroom? Is she ready for that? She says, no, not yet, but she’s open to that in the future. It’s just… the kids. He says, right. Georgie’s of the age where it could be awkward. She says she does want to be a couple, but she thinks they need to take things slowly. Can’t they just be roommates for now? He can move back in and sleep in the guestroom. Or would that be too difficult if they’re not together together?

Dex gets up, and Sonny says, relax. He just wants to talk. Dex asks how Sonny found him, and Sonny says, Dex probably knows by now, he can find anybody he wants. Is Dex going to invite him to sit down? He’s unarmed. He’s alone. Does Dex want to frisk him? Dex says, if this is an ambush, and Sonny came to finish the job, he won’t take it lying down. Sonny says, noted, and Dex sits down. Sonny sits next to him and says he heard Dex opted to keep what happened in the house, but Dex says he’s not in Sonny’s house. Not anymore. No, he’s not filing charges, but he didn’t do it to help Sonny. He did it to help Kristina. It would have been bad for her. Sonny says he appreciates that. That’s why he’s here. He just wants to let Dex know, as far as his part, this is over.

Alexis tells Molly, let’s just sit here and put our emotions aside, and put our lawyer caps on. What’s the primary goal? Molly says, a healthy baby, and Alexis says, and how do we accomplish that? Molly says, with a calm and centered Kristina, and Alexis says, and how is Molly going to assist in that? Molly hesitates, and Alexis says, by not confronting her. Don’t rile her. Molly says, so just tread lightly? Treat Kristina like a minefield keeping her from her baby?

Dante says, as Kristina knows, he didn’t know Sonny was his father when he was working undercover. He got to meet the family and he fell in love with all of them. Michael the fixer, Morgan the wiseass, and her, the princess. He felt like they were all family even before he knew they were. He wasn’t going to take Sonny away from them and he didn’t want to take Sonny away from himself either. It’s really hard growing up without a father. He had a lot of family. They were great. They made a lot of noise at his Little League games, but he didn’t hear that one voice he always wanted to hear. And in the playground and on the street, when kids were saying all sorts of things about his mom because they didn’t know who his father was… He gave as many bloody noses as he got, but he’d always say something stupid like, you guys are gonna get it when my dad shows up. But he never did. And after a while, he stopped kidding himself that he ever would. So when he woke up at GH with a bullet hole in his stomach and Lu told him that he had a father, he justified not turning Sonny in for his kids, for her. But he’s one of Sonny’s kids too, so he did it for himself too. Finding out he had a father was a gift and he wasn’t going to give it back no matter who his father was. So he did what he had to do to keep his dad out of prison. Kristina takes his hand and says she knows Dex is keeping quiet because of her. And honestly, a part of her feels relief that she doesn’t have to testify, but the other part of her is scared that she’s making everything worse.

Spinelli supposes he’s always been waiting for Maxie, so yeah. He can wait as long as needed. She says, so he’ll move in, and they will date, and he says, nothing would delight him more than being here with his family. They kiss, and the others come back. James says, they got Spinelli rocky road and birthday cake. Those are his favorites, right? Spinelli says, yes, and Georgie says, they’re bribing him. Please say he’ll move back in. He looks at Maxie and says he’s moving in. They all hug.

Willow says, everyone is so tired of politics. The reason being, why bother? Why believe in someone? Most of the time, it’s ugly, and people aren’t listening to each other, no more than the politicians are listening to the people. Congressman McConkey was one of the rare ones, who actually tried to govern fairly. He didn’t suffer fools gladly, and he’s hand selected Drew, because he recognizes Drew’s potential, his desire to make a difference, to serve the people. He’s a decorated war hero who’s already served our country. A man of determination and strong character, who can more than withstand any bad press the opposition might throw at him. And as for his wealth, no need to shy away from it, because it’s actually proof that Drew won’t have special interest groups behind the scenes pulling the strings. And as for Aurora, Michael knows that he can handle it without Drew. He’s done it before. Whatever expansions are on the horizon, he’ll manage them, because right now, Drew has something more important to do. Contributing to a functioning government is worth a few sacrifices. Drew says, wow. Maybe he should get her to be his campaign manager. She tells him that she’d say yes, but she wants him to have someone who knows what they’re doing. Michael says, she’s convinced him, and Drew says, him too. He was on the fence, but she made him realize he has an opportunity to make things better. And if he turns it down, it’s like he’s skipping out on his duty, and he can’t do that. So if he does this, he’s going to need some help from them. Michael says, he’s got it, and Willow says, we’re all in – she takes Michael’s hand – Congressman Cain. Drew laughs.

Alexis says, aside from likening her sister to an explosive device, Molly is on the right track. Just tread lightly. Molly supposes that’s all she can do now, and Alexis says she’ll serve as a buffer between Kristina and Sonny. Molly says she doesn’t want Alexis to get involved with Sonny, but Alexis says, trust her. She can handle him. She’s concerned about her girls. One needs to calm down and one needs to get some rest, because Molly is going to need all her energy when she becomes a mom. Molly says she can handle anything if it means keeping this baby healthy, and in a couple of months, she won’t need to be relying on Kristina anymore. When this baby comes, she’s going to keep Kristina and her drama far away. (Rut-roh.)

Dante says, this is not on Kristina. This is on Sonny. She says, what about tomorrow? Or the next day, or the next year, or the next time he does something like this? It is on her, because she didn’t stand up and stop him when she had the chance. He says, okay. If that’s the way she wants to be about it, it’s going to be on her and it’s going to be on him too.

Blaze says she thought Josslyn was way out of line. Now she sees Josslyn was just trying to warn Kristina, make her see her father for who he is. Josslyn says she can see how Kristina can have illusions about Sonny, but now the blinders are off, and she’s seen what he’s capable of with her own eyes. And a part of her really wishes Kristina hadn’t and she was still safe in those illusions. It’s ironic, isn’t it? She says she’ll see Blaze around, and continues on.

Sonny says, this thing between him and Dex, this bad blood, it’s over. Dex says, just like that, and Sonny says, it’s a distraction he doesn’t need. He has more important things to do. He rubs his forehead, and Dex says, Sonny isn’t one to back off a grudge, but Sonny says, Dex doesn’t know him as well as he thinks he does. As a matter of fact, he doesn’t want Dex to think about him at all. Please. Dex wants to be a cop, be a cop. Dex isn’t worth his time and energy. He gets up and so does Dex, and Sonny says, Dex is nothing to him now. For your sake, keep it that way. He glares at Dex and walks away.

Tomorrow, Laura wonders who got this information and leaked it to the press; Curtis tells Portia, there’s got to be something more to this story; Jason tells Sonny that he’s in real trouble; and Carly tells Kristina, this stays between us.

The only thing I have to say about this embarrassing mess is that Lindsay has always been a controlling shrew who gaslights her way through life, and Carl knew her long enough to know that wasn’t going to change.

June 20, 2022 – Doc Shuts Down Esme’s Visits To Ryan, Last Charter On Deck, a Quote & Are You Ready

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Felicia and Mac say hello to Martin and Laura having dinner at not the MetroCourt. Laura says, Doc is going to be joining them for a nightcap later, and maybe they’d like to join. Mac says, count them in, and they leave. Laura says, Jordan told her that she filled Martin in on the safe house findings, and he says, she delivered the good news in person. Their dear brother is not behind the attempt on their lives. Champagne all around. She says she still doesn’t believe Cyrus’s religious conversion, and Martin wonders, does anybody? Which begs the question, if Cyrus wasn’t trying to wipe them out, who was? She says she’s narrowed the suspects down to one.

Victor comes into Kelly’s, where Spencer is cleaning up and says, reunited with his trust fund and still bussing tables? Spencer hugs him, and says, welcome back. Victor says, it’s good to be back, but why the manual labor? Spencer says, it’s his last shift, but Cam’s been good him, so he thought he should honor it. But now that he has a weekly stipend, his days of punching the clock are over. Victor says, good for him. It’s high time he found something more befitting his talents and stature. Spencer says he couldn’t agree more, and Victor asks, what’s it to be then? The whole world is his oyster. Perhaps he can find Spencer something in one of his businesses. Spencer says, perhaps someday, but right now, work isn’t his first priority, and Victor says, travel then, but Spencer says his first priority is closer to home.

Esme goes to Doc’s office, and thanks him for seeing her on such short notice. He says he only has a few minutes, but how can he help? and she says she needs his insight. Her future depends on it.

Trina lets herself into her house while on the phone with Josslyn. She says, that was so wild… hell yeah, it was worth it. And they finally got a lead on Esme, and if Rory keeps in on the DL like he promised, nobody needs to know how much trouble they… She walks in, and Curtis, Portia, and Taggert all get up. She tells Josslyn that she has to call her back.

Anna asks if Valentin will tell her the truth, and he says, always, but he can’t know until she asks the question. She asks if he’s worried that unless they’re talking espionage, they don’t have anything else in common, and he says, is she? She says she wasn’t until he went on this little fishing expedition just now.

Trina says, hi everybody; what’s going on? Portia hugs her and asks if she’s okay. Trina says she’s fine, and Taggert tells her, of course (🍷) she’d say that, but she doesn’t have to be. Curtis says, but they’re just as upset by this as she is, and she says, thank you? Taggart says, they’re going to march right down to that school, and they’re going to fight this decision no matter what it takes. She says, right, the Title IX decision, and Portia says, Trina can blame her for telling Taggert. She just really wanted to rally the troops for Trina. Trina says she appreciates that, but she’s okay. Better than okay actually. Portia says, really? and Curtis asks, why? Trina says she guesses she just feels better, and Portia asks, what happened between the angry text Trina sent her, and Trina walking through the door just now? Trina says, for the first time since this happened, she thinks there’s a chance things might work out in her favor.

Victor says, Spencer sounds like a man with a plan, and Spencer says, like Victor, he prefers to play his cards close… at least for now. Victor says, good for him. Never let them know where your head is at, and you can surprise them when you arrive. Just let him know if there’s anything he can do to help. Spencer says, he can count on it, and Victor says, in the meantime, where is Spencer living these days, since he accepted Ava’s bribe to leave Windymere? Spencer says, Victor hasn’t heard; Ava amended the deal. In exchange for an allowance, she’s asking that he stay at home. Victor says, Spencer has to be joking. What prompted this gesture of goodwill? Spencer says, Ava wants to repair her relationship with his father, and his father wants to repair his relationship with Spencer. Victor says, first round to Spencer as it seems. His birthright and his relationship with his father finally to be restored. He knows it’s a bit of a sacrifice… Spencer says, it is, and Victor says, the three of them co-existing under the same roof; it’s a small price to pay for family unity. Spencer says, actually, it’s four of us, and Victor says, he means Ava has agreed to let Esme stay? Spencer says, Ava has, and don’t even suggest Esme leave. He has very good reasons to keep Esme close.

Doc says, as much as his clients depend on him, he’s never been entrusted with anyone’s entire future, and Esme admits she’s prone to exaggeration, but she’s read how affective exaggeration can be in gestalt therapy. He says, she’s studied gestalt, and she sits down, saying, on her own. The class she sat in on at PCU is limited to say the least. That’s actually what brings her here. She’s been accepted to PCU in the fall. He congratulates her, and says he’s glad she found a direction. She says she has; psychology is her passion. He says, the undergrad program at PCU is highly touted, and notoriously difficult to get into, and she says, doesn’t she know it. The program requires an entirely different application process, including an intern case study. He asks if she’s hoping for help with the topic, but she says she’s already selected her topic; she just needs background. He says, if he has any expertise to offer, he’s happy to help, and she says, as it so happens, he’s the foremost expert on the subject. Her case study is on Ryan Chamberlain.

Felicia asks what they’re drinking tonight, because she’s thinking champagne, and Mac asks, what’s the occasion? She asks if they need one, and he says, at these prices, yes. She says, if living a little isn’t reason enough, how about their granddaughter Bailey’s clean bill of health. He says, just when he thinks he can’t love that little munchkin any more, she smiles at him, and he’s a goner. She says, same here. They should also toast to being grandparents, and together accepting that’s good enough for them. He says, more than enough, and wonders where the waiter is. She says, they should toast something else. Let’s raise a glass to the dressing down I gave Ryan Chamberlain today. He says, she did what?

Esme tells Doc, she’s hoping an essay examining Ryan’s attachment style and interpersonal drama will be enough to pass the program’s admissions panel. He says, that certainly sounds compelling, and she says she’s glad he thinks so, but he says he’s afraid she’ll have to write her admissions essay without help from him. She asks how she can do that when he denied her access to Ryan at Spring Ridge. Besides the man himself, Doc knows Ryan’s history best. He asks if she understands why he had her barred, and she says, to teach her a lesson. She defied him, for which she’s apologized… He says, it wasn’t punitive. It’s because proximity to his brother isn’t healthy. She says, let’s be honest. If she were anyone else… He says, it isn’t personal, and she says, isn’t it? He says he knows what his brother is capable of; his decision was purely professional. She says she respected his professional opinion, but his brother is a legitimate subject for psychological study. If she were one of his students, he’d at least share what he knew, so if this isn’t personal, why deny her the same benefit?

Spencer says, he gets the strong impression that Ava is hoping Esme will trip up, and give Ava an excuse to evict her, and Victor says, but Spencer doesn’t agree with that. He’s sticking with Esme. Spencer says, without reservation, and Victor says, he knows Spencer has strong feelings for Esme, and Spencer says, he has no idea. Victor asks if he isn’t the least bit concerned Esme’s continued presence at Windymere could hinder this reconciliation with his father? Spencer says, for two people who really don’t care for one another, it’s incredible how often Victor and Spencer’s grandmother are on the same page.

Laura tells Martin, Victor Cassadine; it’s gotta be. Martin asks, why? Clearly, she’s been a thorn in his side with Spencer and Nikolas, mother and grandmother worried about her loved ones, but does she really think that’s enough of a reason to want her dead? She says, it has nothing to do with family meddling, and he says, then what? She says she has nothing to prove it… and he says, don’t dare tell him that Victor is going to overhear them and sue for slander; tell him. He’s not going to beg. If she’s right, he nearly died because of the man. He deserves to hear any and all theories. She says she thinks he was targeted just because he was with her, and they went after both of them because it frames Cyrus. He says, so he was merely collateral damage? and she tells him, she wouldn’t say merely. He says he realizes he’s not supposed to be offended, but he is, and she says, come on, Marty. You’re a lawyer. Lots of people probably want you dead. He tells her, she’s just saying that to make him feel better, and she laughs. He says, still, if she’s correct, Victor had the minerals to take out the mayor of Port Charles. Does she think he’d risk killing someone who has that many high-powered friends? She says, it’s not like having high-powered friends did anything for Luke. He asks what she’s saying, and she says she believes Victor had a hand in her ex-husband’s murder.

Valentin says, Anna is right about one thing. When he gets nervous, he asks too many questions. She asks if he’s nervous, and he says, not in the slightest, but she says, is he? He tells her, look around. Nobody is pointing any guns in their direction. They’re not handcuffed to some chair, dripping sweat on some explosive device. They’re at a drive in movie. She says, they could pretend they’re worried about carbon monoxide poisoning, and he takes her hand and says, toxic gas is one thing; disappointing her is another. He hasn’t disappointed her tonight, has he? She says, despite his best efforts, no, and he says, do him a favor. Tell Felicia that he tried. She says, what? She’s supposed to report back to Felicia? He says, Felicia gave him what for, and Anna says, she didn’t. He says, she gave him a real beatdown for avoiding Anna, and Anna says, she’s right about that. He asks if she feels like he’s been avoiding her, and she says, not at this precise moment, but lately, definitely. What the hell has been going on with him? He says he’s had a lot on his plate; Charlotte and ELQ. She says, it seems like it was more than that, but he promises it’s got nothing to do with her. She says, that’s good to know, and asks what else Felicia said. He says, she asked about his intentions, and whether he was serious about her. She says, is he? and he says, very, kissing her.

Trina tells Portia, she and Joss were trying to think of how Esme could have slipped up, and they realized there was an avenue of investigation that wasn’t explored. Taggert says, so she and Joss thought of something the PCPD may have overlooked? and she says, no disrespect, but they think like cops. She and Joss think like an 18 year old woman. Curtis says, she makes a good point, and Trina thanks him. Portia says, if Trina and Joss have found another angle, they need to call Jordan, but Trina says, they cops don’t have to be involved, not yet. Curtis says, because Trina and Joss went chasing down their own lead. Is he right? Trina says, don’t be mad, and Taggert says he doesn’t like the sounds of this. Trina says, Curtis is right. They found out about this guy who sells black market phones, and tonight they paid him a visit. Portia asks, where? and Trina says, this place called The Highsider. Taggert says, have you lost your mind, little girl? and Portia asks, what’s The Highsider? Curtis says, it’s a biker bar on the outside of town, and Portia says, Trina and Josslyn went to a biker bar? By themselves? Trina says, before Portia freaks out, they’re both fine. The good news is, they showed a picture of Esme to the guy, and he totally recognized her. Curtis says, and he confirmed he’s the one Esme got the phone from? and Taggert says, and he’s going to give a statement to the police to that effect? Trina says, not exactly. Before they could get him on the record, some creep manhandled Joss. Portia says, manhandled? How? Trina says, she told Portia, Josslyn’s fine; the bouncer took care of it right away. Portia says, so the bouncer took care of the man who accosted Josslyn at the biker bar where they were playing Nancy Drew? and Trina says, yes. Portia says, okay. She guesses it’s better than the bouncer not intervening. So he broke up the fight, and that was the end of it, right?… Trina? What happened after the bouncer intervened? Trina says, a fight broke out? and Taggert says, please tell him the police didn’t show up. Trina says, she didn’t get detained, and Curtis asks why she didn’t tell them what they had planned, and Trina says, this is why. She knew they wouldn’t let her and Josslyn go. Taggert says, damn straight. What if she had gotten arrested? How would that look to the jury? Portia says, thank you, and Trina says, she didn’t get arrested. She got a lead; a lead that can exonerate her and incriminate Esme. Portia understands, right?

Victor says, he doesn’t know why Spencer is surprised. All he and Spencer’s grandmother have ever wanted is what’s best for him, and once in the bluest of moons, they actually agree on what that is. Spencer says he appreciates Victor and his grandmother’s concern. He admits Esme can be polarizing, and Victor says he sees a career in diplomacy in Spencer’s future. Spencer says he needs Esme, and Victor says, this is the girl who fabricated a pregnancy scare to keep Spencer trapped in the relationship. What’s more, she got caught. Spencer tells him, Esme genuinely believed pregnancy was a possibility, and Victor says, and Spencer believes her? Spencer says he knows Esme better than anyone, and he can only hope that very soon everyone else sees Esme for the person she truly is. Victor says, amen to that. Far be it for him to stand in the way of true love, but please promise from now on he’ll take precautions. The last thing anyone needs is for Spencer’s girlfriend to find herself in the family way. (Wow. I don’t think I’ve heard that term since the last time I watched I Love Lucy.) Spencer says he’s learned his lesson. The only one way Esme’s family is growing is when he locates her birth parents. Victor says, what’s this now? Is this the mysterious mission of his? Spencer says, locating them would be the most priceless of gifts. What’s more, he knows Esme would give absolutely anything to know who they are.

Doc says, if Esme is going to use the exaggeration technique, she’s better off using it on someone who doesn’t know what she’s up to. But since he is, how she put it, the world’s foremost expert on his brother, she’s really better off finding a different case to study. She says, it’s too late. She’s already selected her topic, and the deadline is next week. She really only has one question. He says, just one? and she says, the only thing she couldn’t find in the extensive material she found. He asks, what is it? and she says, would he describe Ryan’s attachment style as avoidant or anxious? He says, neither; he’s a psychopath. She says she knows his clinical diagnosis, but surely Doc can’t tell her that Ryan never formed a serious attachment as an adult. He says, to whom? and don’t call him Shirley, and she says, to him. Doc is his twin. They literally have the same DNA, and she’s read twins have an almost magical bond. He says, magical. Like when Ryan drugged him, and left him in a mental institution for months? She says, in all fairness, wasn’t Doc doing the same thing to him? and he says, if she can’t appreciate the difference between keeping a psychopathic killer under lock and key in the need for public safety, and Ryan falsely imprisoning him in order to take over his life and go on a killing spree, maybe psychology isn’t for her. He’s got to get to dinner, but she says, wait. Has Ryan ever formed a sincere attachment with another human being, and if hasn’t, is his detachment hereditary? He asks if she wants to know this for her case study, or for some other reason? and she says, very perceptive. He’s got her.

Felicia tells Mac, when she saw Ryan at General Hospital today, it brought up a lot of old emotions, and he says, all the more reason to avoid him. She says she knows what he did to her; what he did to them. Mac says, what he still could do, and she says, Ryan’s days of abductions and drugging and murders, they are over. He says, but Ryan can still communicate, and she says, one blink at a time. He says, and yet, Ryan has conversations, and she says she’s not saying Ryan is completely harmless, but this is as close as it gets. She needed to tell Ryan that he lost, and she won. Mac says, they were just talking about the many blessings they have. Was seeing Ryan worth the risk? She says she spent decades haunted about how Ryan sees her, his obsession, and today, she got to tell him how she sees him; an impotent maniac who deserves to be forgotten, and will be. It was liberating, so please don’t begrudge her that. From now on, there’s nothing Ryan Chamberlain can do to her.

Valentin asks if Anna wants to skip the second feature, and she asks if this is an indecent proposal. He says, indeed. Say the word, and he’ll do anything she wants. She thinks a moment, and says, anything?

Martin asks how long Laura has suspected Victor of murder. She’s the mayor. If she’s so convinced the Victor is killing people for a hobby, why is he buzzing around Port Charles with total impunity? She says, because the WSB has determined someone else is responsible for the cable car crash that killed Luke, and he says, but she’s not buying it. She says, not for a second. They took Jennifer Smith into custody. Jennifer Smith was crazy about Luke. She would never kill him. She might kidnap him, hold him at gunpoint, and force him to marry her, but she’d never kill him. He says, comforting to know her lunacy has limits, and Laura says, this one reeks of Victor Cassadine and she’s going to prove it. He asks, how? and she says she’s working on it. He says, for God’s sake, be careful. He’s waited his whole life to find out she’s his sister. He doesn’t like the idea of losing her now. She says she’s not going anywhere, but Victor is if she has anything to say about it. He says she seems fairly certain, and she says, she’s been meeting with some people in DC, and she thinks she can have Victor deported.

Victor tells Spencer, finding Esme’s birth parents is quite an undertaking. He hopes she’s worthy of all the effort. Spencer says, most of Esme’s issues come from a sense of abandonment. He’s hoping her birth parents will provide the support she’s been lacking ever since her parents gave her up. Victor tells him, just be careful. Distracting Esme with total strangers she just happens to be related to could backfire. What if they’re dead? Or neglectful? Spencer says he’ll certainly vet them before making any introductions, and Victor asks if Esme wants to find them, and if she does, why didn’t she look herself? Spencer says, she has, but she doesn’t have the Cassadine money or connection. Victor sniffs, and says, who does really? and Spencer says, no one is in a better position to give Esme exactly what she wants… except maybe Victor.

Esme tells Doc, she never knew her biological parents, and her studies have her wondering what psychological tendencies she might have inherited. He says, and she’s wondering if examining Ryan’s interpersonal relationships might shed some light on her own, and she says, isn’t that why we study psychology? To better understand ourselves? Her relationship with Spence has been a roller coaster. She has no friends, and she’s managed to offend most of the town, him and Mayor Collins included. So she’s asking not as a student or a patient necessarily, just someone he’s gotten to know. What’s wrong with her? He says he can tell her what isn’t wrong with her. She’s not a narcissistic sociopath like his brother. She says, before he was incarcerated, Ryan must have had a social life, and Doc says, of course (🍷) he did. When he isn’t manipulating people, or using them as chess pieces or toys, it’s as if Ryan doesn’t exist to himself. He needs people’s admiration, adoration, and ultimately, their terror. That’s how he validates himself. She says, wow. Now tell her what he really thinks of his brother. He says, Ryan makes people believe anything he needs them to believe. That’s one of the reasons he barred her. Even locked in, Ryan is the most dangerous person she’s ever going to meet. Now he really has to go. He’s very late.

Trina says she knows it was a risk, but it paid off, and Taggert tells her, nobody is saying it wasn’t a good lead, but two women, underage in a biker bar? Portia says, Trina should have come to them or the police, but she did find a lead none of them have been able to find. So the truth is, she’s not disappointed in Trina. Trina asks if Portia means it, and Portia says, absolutely. Taggert says, he’s disappointed. Proud? Yes. Amazed? Absolutely. But he’s disappointed. Portia says, their daughter is fighting for her life. They haven’t been able to help he so far, and Trina found a way to help herself. So she thinks they should be proud of her. Taggert says, what Trina did scared him to death, but he’s always going to be proud of her. She thanks him, they hug, and he tells her, just don’t do it again. Portia says, Trina’s had a big day. Is anybody hungry? Trina says she’s starving, and Portia suggests she order a pizza. She’ll make snacks until it gets here, and Trina can tell them everything she and Josslyn found out tonight. Taggert says he’ll help her, and they go to the kitchen. Curtis says, tonight had to be terrifying, and Trina tells him, she didn’t want to say anything that would make them worry more, but they have a point. Things could have gone seriously south. He says, they could have, but they didn’t, and she asks if he thinks it was the wrong move. He says he thinks her parents have spoken, and it’s not his place to offer and opinion. She says, but he has one, and he says he does. What she did is what he would have done in her position. She thanks him, and says, but of course (🍷) he’s a very tall man, and she’s not. He says, that’s what makes it even braver. He knew that when they met. She’s got guts.

Laura tells Martin, it’s called moral turpitude; it’s a catch-all for foreign nationals who shouldn’t be living in the United States. And Victor Cassadine meets that definition. He says, but all that’s going to do is get Victor out of the country; it doesn’t prove he murdered Luke. She says, baby steps. It gets him out of Spencer and Nikolas’s orbit, and this mysterious project he keeps alluding to. It should make it that much more difficult to complete from a distance. Doc approaches the table, and says he recognizes that look. What’s she determined to do now? Laura says, she told him; she’s thisclose to getting the drop on the megalomaniac. Martin says, apparently, the sooner, the better. He’s sorry he’s late. He sits down, when Mac brings Felicia over. He says, sorry to interrupt, but he thought Laura and Felicia could have a little chat. Martin says, Felicia can have his seat. He’ll be right back. Felicia asks if he handles divorces, and he says he does. She tells him, hurry back, and Laura asks if Felicia is causing trouble again. Felicia says, no, and Mac clears his throat. She says, maybe a little, and Mac says, Felicia confronted Ryan at the hospital today. Felicia says, and lived to tell the tale, and Doc asks, what possessed her to confront his brother? Felicia says, she needed to face him, and prove to herself and him that he no longer occupies any emotional real estate. Mac asks if it isn’t important enough that she knows that. Ryan will either not care, not believe, or just get pissed off. He asks Doc to back him up, and Doc says, he’s not wrong. Laura says, maybe so, but she gets it. Confronting Ryan wasn’t about Ryan; it was about Felicia. Felicia says, exactly, and Doc says, it seems like Felicia looking Ryan in the eye and saying her piece was cathartic. Felicia says, it was, and Mac says, he’s still a monster. Doc says, agreed, but he can’t hurt anyone in his condition; at least not physically. Mac says, so Doc agrees with him. As long as Ryan can communicate, he’s still a threat. Felicia says, one letter at a time, and Doc asks if Ryan communicated back to her. Felicia tells him, she has to say, his aide is very good at conveying his thoughts, and Doc says he didn’t realize Spring Ridge had replaced Harmony. He’ll need to have a word with Ryan’s new minder. Felicia says she thinks that’s a good idea. From the vibe she was getting, this Esme person can use all the guidance she can get. Laura and Doc look at each other.

Spencer says, before, Victor asked if there’s anything he can do to help, and Victor confirms he did. Spencer says, can Victor please help him find Esme’s birth parents? and Victor says, can he? Of course (🍷) he can, but should he? Newly discovered blood ties can upend lives. Familial reunions are not always joyous. Spencer says, it worked out for Victor and Valentin, didn’t it? He realizes he’s in no position to ask anything of Victor, especially after all Victor’s done for him, but Victor has no idea how much this means to him. Victor says, all right. Anything for Spencer. He’ll reach out to his contacts, and see if they can uncover Esme’s origins. Spencer says, Victor is a life saver, when Esme knocks at the door. Spencer says he doesn’t want to get Esme’s hopes up, and asks that they keep it between them. Victor nods, and Spencer lets Esme in. She says, it’s wonderful to see Victor, and he says, always a pleasure. He leaves, and Spencer asks if Esme finished her errands. She says she did, and him? He says, officially unemployed, as he tosses a dishtowel on the counter. She says, at long last; let’s go home. She hugs him, and outside, Victor watches.

Doc says, the young woman Felicia saw with Ryan, her name was Esme? Felicia says, and Esme gave a last name too, rather proudly she might add. Doc asks if it was Prince, and Felicia asks if he knows her. Laura says, do they ever, and Mac says, Esme Prince is practically famous. Her name comes up at the precinct. Felicia asks who she is, and Laura says, she is Spencer’s overly entitled girlfriend. She swears that girl is allergic to the word no, and Doc says he thinks it’s more than that. Felicia asks what she’s missing, and Doc tells Laura that he needs to take a raincheck on tonight’s nightcap. There’s one more thing he needs to take care of. He jets, and Felicia asks why he was so upset. Laura says, he has already restricted Esme’s access to Ryan. She found a way around it. Felicia says, that can’t be good, and Laura says, no, it can’t be.

Valentin hands Anna some popcorn, and says, her bucket of hydrogenated butter substitute. She says, now they’re talking. Not that what he brought wasn’t a treat. Does he want some? He says, no thanks; he’s driving. She says, suit himself. He had a text while he was gone. He asks, who from? and she says, how would she know? She didn’t look. Is he keeping secrets from her? He says, of course (🍷) he’s keeping secrets from her, and she asks if he has another woman stashed somewhere. He says, maybe, but the only one with the key to his heart likes classic movies and large amounts of popcorn. He looks at his phone, and says, it’s Martin Grey. A text from Martin reads: We need to talk about your father, and Valentin says, there’s an ELQ vote tomorrow, and Martin is concerned enough for the both of them. She asks who he thought it was, and he says, one of his many agents of chaos. At the risk of seeming eager, is now a good time to ask for a second date? She says, at the risk of seeming eager, is now a good time to accept? He eats some popcorn, and says, wow. You know what this popcorn and the next movie have in common? They were both made in 1942. She looks at the screen, and says, Casablanca. What a great double feature. He kisses her hand, and says, here’s lookin’ at you, kid.

Doc heads inside Kelly’s, and Victor says he seems fit to be tied. He trusts his nephew isn’t responsible. Doc says, no. This time Spencer only has the company he keeps to blame. Inside, Spencer tells Esme, he just has to grab his stuff from the back, kill the lights, and they’re out of here for good. She sees Doc outside, and says, take your time.

Trina says, someone from The Highsider can probably ID this guy. Rory said he’d look into it, but she doesn’t want to get him in trouble. Taggert says, her cop friend offered to help? and Portia says, a young man of principles and integrity. That’s a lovely change of pace. Trina says she gets it; Portia hates Spencer. Portia says, hate’s such a strong word, and Taggert says he doesn’t hear anyone denying it. Portia thanks him for his support, and Trina says she doesn’t think there’s much she and Joss can do on their own at this point. Portia says, nor should they. She admires how proactive they’ve been, but she and Joss were so lucky to get out of that situation unharmed. Curtis says he thinks Trina did the right thing passing the baton, and letting the professionals handle it. Trina says, someone recognized them from the news, and now the bartender knows she’s the daughter of an ex-cop. He probably won’t answer questions. Curtis asks if she’s forgotten she has a former police officer and P.I. at her disposal, and Taggert says, he may be in the wind, but not for long.

Esme comes out, and tells Doc, what a surprise. She’s afraid Kelly’s is closed. He says, then it’s good he’s not here for a BLT. She lied to him. She says she doesn’t know what he means, and he says, when she told him that she was steering clear of his brother. She tells him, she said she respected his professional opinion, and he says, that’s a distinction without a difference. He doesn’t know what she’s playing at, but he warned her to stay away from Ryan. She asks if it shouldn’t be Ryan’s choice who sees him and when, but he says, no. He’s a homicidal psychopath. She says, again, that’s his opinion, but he says, it’s a fact. Like it’s a fact that she no longer works at Spring Ridge. She says, what? and he says, for her own safety, he’s ended her internship and barred her from the facility. She says, he can’t do that, but he says, he can and he did. She’ll never see his brother again. He goes inside.

Mac says, they’ve lost two, but they can still buy Laura a drink. Laura says she’d love that, but her phone rings, and she says she should probably take it. Excuse her. She steps away,  and says, hi, Alexis. Alexis says she’s glad she caught Laura, and Laura asks if something is wrong. Alexis says, she’s afraid so. She’s sorry. She would have reached out to Laura sooner, but this just landed on her desk. Laura asks, what’s going on? and Alexis says, something catastrophic is going to happen tomorrow, and there doesn’t seem to be anything she can do to stop it.

Tomorrow, Scotty welcomes someone to the committee to save their hide; Curtis says, they can figure out who’s pulling the strings; and Laura asks how long someone has been waiting to even the score.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht

After Daisy catches the bouquet, Gary runs into the water, pretending to flee from her. He comes out, and puts his arm around her, new bride Allegra saying, they’re a cute couple. Daisy says, this is too close for comfort, while on the boat, Marcos pounds tuna steak with a meat mallet, and Ashley whines that she’s behind. She asks Scarlett for help, and on the beach, groom Gabe picks up his bride to put her in the tender. Ashley decorates for the reception dinner, and there’s a scramble to find champagne glasses. The guests head back, and Glenn, Colin, and Kelsie stay on the beach to clean up. Glenn says, it would be a shame for the leftover champagne to go to waste, and toasts to the best wedding he’s ever done.

The guests get back to the boat, followed by the newlyweds, who are given a rice shower. Champagne is served, and on the beach, Kelsie says, the sun is setting on their last charter. Daisy tells Ashley that the table is beautiful, and she’ll be leading service, so she has to be Perfect Ashley. Daisy will be there with her. Kelsie says, they’re going to be finding rice for months to come, and makes me think of how you find pine needles months later when you get a real Christmas tree. Allegra changes into a cocktail dress, and Colin tells Barnaby that the wedding was a smashing success. Kelsie goes to bed, and drinks are served. I’m thinking I could never last at this job with the inconsistent sleep schedule. In Marcos’s interview, he says he’s pulling all his tricks out of a hat for the last dinner. Maybe he’ll even do a dance. He uses cloches to do that smoke thing, and tells Colin that he’s going to fire the tomahawk (i.e. gargantuan steak) upstairs. Marcos introduces the cloche dish, saying it’s, tuna carpaccio with cherrywood smoke. He follows that with setting fire to the tomahawk, and Gabe says, Marcos is a showman. Allegra says, he’s outdone himself, while in the crew mess, Gary tries to dance with Daisy, who’s trying to eat.

Marcos brings up the cake, and Glenn says, it’s f***ing amazing, as he walks past. It’s very simple and elegant, with a few large faux flowers cascading down, and Allegra says, it looks stunning. In his interview, Marcos says, seeing the final product and the guests happy, he’s relieved it’s over. It’s time to party hard. The cake is cut, and Colin gives a good report about Ashley to Daisy. He says he sees signs of a good second stew, and Daisy says, Ashley’s not there yet, but she’s going to promote her to lead stew. Marcos thanks everyone for their help, and the guests go to bed. Ashley asks if Daisy is proud of her, and Daisy says she is. Colin asks if Gary is going to cause trouble on their last night, Gary says, maybe, and Ashley says she’s going to be partying hard. In Colin’s interview, he says, he’s a one-gal kind of guy, so he’s not often in these predicaments. But Gary is going to be Gary. He might act like he’s into the other stews, but his eye is on the prize, and that prize is Daisy. Gary says he can’t believe it’s over.

At 5:50 am, everyone starts to get up, and Marcos says, everything hurts. Kelsie is feeling nostalgic, and Marcos tells Glenn that an investor wants to create a restaurant with him and his partner. In Marco’s interview, he says, it’s not in a boat, and not a food truck. It’s a proper restaurant. Glenn says he’s happy for Marcos. Kelsie asks Gary, how does NASA coordinate a party? They planet. Anchor is home, and Glenn says, they’re headed back to Mahon for the last time this season. The crew applauds, and guest Laura asks if the wedding made Daisy want to get married. Daisy says, not to Gary, and breakfast is served. The gluten-free guest says, the chef hit her preference sheet on the spot. In the galley, Marcos wipes the whiteboard off. The guests pack, and Glenn docks the boat. Barnaby says, it’s playtime, and goodbyes are said to the guests. Guest Laura says, the trip was beyond what they imagined. They thought they’d just have a casual wedding, and the crew delivered so many memories. Glenn says, it was a good way to cap off the season, and a good way for them to celebrate the end. Laura presents a ginormous bottle of champagne to them, and says, oh yeah, that too, giving them the tip envelope. In Daisy’s interview, she says, thank God it’s over. She’s f***ing delighted. It’s bittersweet, but mainly sweet. Glenn blows the horn, and the crew does a group hug.

Glenn radios the crew to gather for the final tip meeting. He tells them, he’s beyond proud. It was an intense end to the season, and they pulled it off, and finished with a bang. All of the departments did a good job. Marcos had the most challenging dietary restrictions to work with… Marcos says, and a cake, and Glenn says, please never leave him. Glenn says he saw Daisy doing laps around the boat to keep an eye on her department, serving the guests, and keeping them happy. Daisy acknowledges Ashley’s progression, and says she’s decided to promote her to lead stew. She knows it’s the end of the season, but Ashley can put it on her CV. In Ashley’s interview, she says she’s proud of herself. She’d always been told she sucked, and it’s more than a title; it means the world to her. Glenn says, the guests had a great time, along with them creating a special occasion, and the tip is $20K, making their season total $160,500. In Gary’s interview, he says, it’s the most money he’s made in one season his whole career. Marcos tells everyone, well done, and they toast.

Marcos tells Daisy, the only hiccup was the charter with Charles, and we flash back to that unreasonable d-bag. Daisy says, it wasn’t Marcos’s food; he was an a-hole. In Marcos’s interview, he says he’s proud of himself. There were a few times he thought he wasn’t going to make it. We flash back to his head injury, Charles again, and his friend’s mom dying. He says, somehow, he figured it out. Don’t ask how he did, but he did. We flash back to the many compliments he received, and he says he can’t believe it’s over. Who’s your daddy? The stews gather up random dishes left around, and the crew gets ready for dinner. They toast to a successful season, and Gary says, they made money. He tells them, it’s time to make like a donkey d*ck and hit the road. They get in two taxis.

Gary tells Daisy, the previous season was all hiccups and moaning, and Ashley says, she really made an effort to improve. Colin says, she’s grown the most, and Marcos says he knows how much she ate. They speculate about Gary shagging Daisy, but Colin says, it’s never going to happen. Appetizers are waiting at the table when they get to the restaurant, and by the time the waiter gets to the table – about five seconds – they’re already eating. Gary says, the food is phenomenal, and Glenn arrives. Marcos thanks him for joining them, and he says he wouldn’t miss it. Gary says, now everyone is well-behaved, and Glenn says, that’s why he doesn’t normally come. Barnaby orders tequila shots for everyone, but Daisy says, no way Glenn is doing one. Glenn says he’s old, not dead, and they explain how to do a shot with salt and lime. They do the shot, and Glenn jokingly says, another round. Marcos asks how Glenn is feeling, and Glenn says, relieved, but a bit melancholy. He’s going to miss them when they scatter to the four corners of the world. In Glenn’s interview, he says, it’s a good feeling to end on a positive note. The feeling of camaraderie is rare; it’s something special. Gary toasts to Glenn, and Glenn thanks them for a great season. He expects they’ll misbehave, and tells them to enjoy themselves. They toast to him again.

They go to another table for dinner, and Glenn tells them to have fun. Just don’t burn the boat down. They order, and Scarlett takes a photo of Marcos holding Gary in his arms. Gary asks for everyone’s highs and lows this season. His high was Daisy. They got along like a house on fire, and they’re closer than ever. Ashley says, her high was the wedding, and we flash back. She says, her low was the lowball tip, and we flash back to a-hole Charles giving them $6500, and Glenn saying, it’s still better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick. Colin says, his high was the giggle club, and we flash back to the dudes laughing after hours. Daisy says she thinks their weird wrestling is just an excuse to touch each other, and Kelsie says, her high was them becoming the best seamen. We flash back to them receiving the Seaman Cup, and Daisy says, the wedding was her high. It made her feel like there might be true love out there. Gary says, hello, and Colin makes a toast, saying, it’s a rarity for team to work this well; let’s celebrate. Gary says, Colin for President, and they clink glasses.

On the way back, Daisy insists she’s not shagging Gary, and in the other taxi, the have a water fight. As usual, Glenn wisely goes to bed, and the crew gets in the hot tub. The HUGE bottle of champagne is opened, drunk, sprayed, and poured on heads. Scarlett drinks some straight from the bottle, and Ashley decides to make grilled cheese. She’s so drunk, she barely knows what she’s doing, and makes more of a mess than anything else. Colin brings out his guitar, and the crew sings, Oh, Parsifal. Ashley uses the panini maker, and forgetting she was going to make some for everyone, sits down to eat what can only be called a mess of cheese and bread on a plate. Scarlett walks through, and says she’s going to bed soon. Marcos comes into the crew mess, and Ashley says, she loves cheese. He calls her a cavewoman, and says, it’s a disgusting meal. He points out that she has butter on her boob, and she licks it off. At the bar, Daisy asks Gary if they can just one time in their lives… He says, have sex? He tells her to step into something less wet, and she leaves, saying, she’ll be waiting.

Marcos says, what Ashley is eating is inedible, and Gary follows Daisy. Colin and Ashley go to bed (not with each other), and Gary and Marcos play smack each other. Daisy calls to Gary, and he suggests they go to the guest cabin to cuddle. He places her in her bed, and tells her to  change something dry. Kelsie hopes they move out of the way soon, so she can sleep, and Gary says, life is difficult; talk about getting c*ck blocked. At 4:35 am, Barnaby wakes Glenn getting into bed. Daisy tells Kelsie that her and Gary’s relationship is complicated. She doesn’t think they really feel anything for each other. Marcos tells Colin and Gary, it’s never again going to be the three amigos like this.

When Glenn gets up, he sees the mess in the appropriately titled crew mess, and says, holy sh*t. He pokes his head in the guys’ cabin, and says, good morning, sleeping beauties. Time to get up and start packing. They struggle to get up, and Ashley says, why? Gary says, time to grab your sh*t and f*** off, and Glenn says, the mess looks like the Hindenburg crashed into the Titanic. Clean this sh*t up, so he can have breakfast. Ashley is repulsed, and Kelsie thanks Barnaby for coming to save her. In Barnaby’s interview, he says, he had a great time. He wasn’t there long, but long enough. Glenn thanks him, and tells him to stay in touch. In his interview, Barnaby says, he’ll miss the people he met. The people were great; the work, not so much. The hardest part about saying goodbye is that he won’t be living 6 feet from Daisy; she’s so fit. Ashley says, this sucks, and Scarlett says her goodbyes. In Scarlett’s interview, she says, they did it. She’s proud of herself. It was a huge challenge, and she thinks she did a great job. Glenn says, she’s the best, and in her interview, she says, it’s bittersweet. She and Gary have a strong connection, but the only place he drives is straight into drama, and she wants no drama. She thinks she can hop on any boat after living through this.

Glenn points out that Gary is still wearing what he was wearing last night, and Ashley says her goodbyes. In Ashley’s interview, she says, she wasn’t as friendly as she could have been, but she’s slowly learning. It’s hard to be on a team, since she likes doing things her way, but that’s definitely something she regrets at this point in her life. Daisy thanks her for her hard work, and in her interview, Ashley says she knows there’s more out there, and she wants to experience things. She’s got a lot to learn, and a lot more growing to do. Kelsie says goodbye to Daisy, who says she loved rooming with her. If there’s anything Kelsie needs, hit her up. In Kelsie’s interview, she says, from this season, she’s learned she doesn’t think the super yachting industry is for her. She likes being captain, and bossing other people more than being bossed. Peace out, mother***ers. Marcos says, it’s been amazing working with Daisy, and Glenn says he’ll see Marcos in L.A.; he was amazing. In Marcos’s interview, he says, he was alone for so many years, but with this crew he had a lot of support that he didn’t feel in the past. He says goodbye to Gary, who calls him a legend, and in his interview, Marcos says, in this short period of time, he feels like it was a haven, and the crew was like family. It’s the first time he’s had this feeling. He sniffles, and says he’s been holding it in. In Colin’s interview, he says, Captain Glenn is the perfect captain. He’d love to have Glenn’s traits in how he runs his own boat. He feels connected to the crew, and it’s cemented the fact he craves friendships. When he finds them, he cherishes them, and they last a long time. It’s a surreal feeling that it’s coming to an end. He’s fighting back tears. Daisy asks Gary to chat with her while she packs, and he says, if he has to.

Daisy asks how Gary left things with Scarlett, but he says, nothing was happening. She asks who he’ll miss the most, and he says, her and Colin equally. He wants their relationship to keep growing, and she tells him, stop, but he says he’s serious. She says she thinks if they hang out too much… He says, they’ll fall in love? but she says, they won’t be friends. He’ll fall in love with her. In Daisy’s interview, she says, so much happened this season. She had to deal with situations she’d never experienced. At the end of the day, she’s a good person with good intentions, and she’s going to take what she learned this season to the next season. She plans on taking a f***ing holiday, detox, and sit in silence for an hour. In Gary’s interview, he says he thinks his and Daisy’s relationship has come a long way. It’s fun and flirtatious, but professional, and the sexual tension is undeniable. He thinks she’s realizing that, so maybe one day… He tells her, ciao, and Glenn radios Gary to come to the flybridge.

Glenn says, they have to drain and disinfect the jacuzzi. Who knows what is in there? Something moved, and he thinks it’s got tentacles. Gary says, it’s so gross. F*** my life.

Next time, the Reunion.

💃🏾 Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory or an acceptance of the way things are. It’s a celebration of progress. It’s an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possible—and there is still so much work to do. – Barack Obama

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Today’s GH was another Nurse’s Ball flashback from May 25th, 2016. Emma and Ned channeled Elton John, singing Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, there were more plugs for Aveeno, and Robin was in attendance. Brad and Lucas planned on tying the knot, when Bobbie felt ill, and Lucas took her to the hospital. Carly tried to get Ava to give up custody of Avery, and Ava said Carly was drunk or delusional, Carly showed her the video of her bondage session with DA Paul (remember him? you should), and threatened to post it on the internet. When Ava laughed, Carly sent the video to Paul, who didn’t think it was so funny. Epiphany found Obrecht tied up in a closet wearing a Heidi outfit, and when Jake had a bout of stage fright before making his debut, Franco told him to think of the audience as a bunch of ducks, claiming it worked every time. Jake still froze, but Franco stepped in, playing percussion, while Jake sang a duet of I-don’t-know-what-song with Who-the-hell-is-that-guy? #3. The talent part of the show ended with Magic Milo and his Magic Wands doing a magical dance, that once again finished with Nurses Ball printed on their magical butts. Diane told Drew that he was being sued because he’d purchased Aurora with money allegedly gleaned from organized crime, even though Spinelli was allegedly the best money launderer in the world. There was some hair pulling in the bathroom between Carly and Ava, until Ava got the flashdrive from Carly and flushed it down the toilet. But Carly said it was in the cloud, and Ava just lost custody of Avery. The episode ended with Lucy saying the Nurse’s Ball was about love support for a worthy cause and each other, and announcing the union of Brad and Lucas. However, Lucas didn’t make it, since he was knocked out next to Bobbie’s hospital bed.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht – Reunion (@ Home)

While all of the reunions have been virtual these days, had this been under normal circumstances, I’m certain this would have been what I call a cheap reunion, and taken place in the Clubhouse. Glenn was aboard the Perceval III outside Spain; Paget and Ciara were in Italy, and hadn’t been outside in two months; Parker was back with his true love Kaiti on a ranch in Colorado; Byron was in Majorca; Madison was also in Colorado; Georgia  was back at her home base in South Africa; Jenna was in Canada; and Adam, along with dog Tex, was in Oregon. Tex is an absolutely gorgeous (I think) Australian Shepherd, multi-colored, with piercing David Bowie eyes.

Andy asked Ciara if she was bothered by Georgia’s flirting with Paget, and Ciara said, while Georgia should have been more respectful, she wouldn’t have wanted to be with someone who would want someone else. Georgia said she flirted with everyone, and even asked Glenn to marry her so she could get a green card. Ciara should have thrown her overboard. Paget said he apologized to Ciara when he watched it back, realizing how he would feel if the shoe was on the other foot. Madison rolled her eyes during the Reunion just about as much as she did on all season. Andy asked if the threesome ever landed, but that was a no. Did Andy even watch the show? That was a no five seconds after it was a maybe.

Chris joined from England, where he was getting his back issues worked on, and hoped to get back to yachting soon. I’m not sure why they even had him on, unless it was because of contractual obligations. I really liked Chris, and was disappointed that he contributed little to the dialogue other than his status, and it was goodbye. Parker said he regretted his emotions getting the best of him at times, but still thought he did well. He didn’t regret resigning because he got the love of his life back, and Glenn thought Parker’s head was now in right place. Madison whined that Jenna had crossed the line in joking around. She also dropped a hint that she might possibly be dating Luke from Summer House. While Luke is super-hot, they’re about on the same emotional level and deserve each other. If she ends up on the next Summer House season, I’ll definitely pay more attention. Ciara and Paget were downing a lot of wine, and when Andy pointed it out, Ciara said, when in Rome… We revisited the pack of dudes who were nightmare guests, one of them actually bench pressing Madison. Andy asked if any of them ever called to apologize, and while the weightlifter hadn’t, Ciara said Marshall – aka shrimp cocktail guy – apologized for acting like an entitled moron (my words).

Special guest Captain Sandy made an appearance, but it was another case of here’s your hat, what’s your hurry? and she was gone faster than Chris. I’m guessing she was just there to plug remind us that the new season of Below Deck Mediterranean was coming up next.

Andy asked if Adam and Jenna were still dating, and Jenna said the situation on the show was difficult for them. After the show, they’d gone to San Francisco together, where Jenna met Adam’s family. Then they did a lot of traveling in the van, including going to Jenna’s hometown twice, the last time for Christmas. We went back over the whole Adam being a d*ck about Jenna and Georgia having dated the same guy. Adam said it had nothing to do with that, but it was the way they were gloating over it. I don’t think that’s the word I would use, but I understood why he would have been irritated at them joking around about it in front of him. However, since his communication level at the time was zero, I’m still not giving him a pass for that one. Georgia took this to a different level, saying that Adam made Jenna ashamed of something in her past, and you shouldn’t have to break bits of yourself to suit others. She’s 100% right, but in this instance, I don’t think it was that deep. Andy asked if Jenna and Adam would ever get back together, but Adam said it was nobody’s business. Truth!

Madison said Jenna made her life a living hell, and they went on and on and on about this, but nothing seemed resolved. Jenna ended up crying, and apologizing for what seemed like the bajillionth time, and Madison said she was over it. This was the most lackadaisical reunion ever, and barely seemed to have an ending. Andy asked Adam what his biggest regret was, and Adam said he didn’t like answering a question like that. He didn’t like having regrets, and learned from all of his decisions. In this case, he learned that he despises yachting. At that point, everyone waved goodbye.

Below Deck Mediterranean

Mallorca, Spain; 24 hours before charter. A producer asks Hannah if she speaks Spanish, and Hannah says she doesn’t even speak enough Spanish to say she doesn’t speak Spanish. In Captain Sandy’s interview, she says Hannah started last season well, but didn’t finish on a great note. We flashed back to the captain telling Hannah that yachting was not her passion. She says she brought Hannah back because she believes Hannah wants to do a good job; she wants to kill it. In Hannah’s interview, she says yachting might not be her career, but she’s passionate about doing a good job until she gets knocked up. Chef Kiko from South Brazil arrives, and Captain Sandy is nervous, considering what she went through with Mila. She doesn’t believe the paperwork anymore. She tells Kiko to make her proud. Malia is back, and in her interview, she tells us that she was promoted to lead deckhand last season, and now she’s bosun. She doesn’t want to get in shouting matches or boatmances; she’s more serious about it now. They have all ladies in charge this time around, and Captain Sandy tells her, dive in. In Malia’s interview, she says the last time, she liked Hannah at first, then they hated each other, and somewhere in the middle of that, they found their way back to being meh.

Deckhand Pete comes on board next, saying, The Unit has arrived. Ugh. In Hannah’s interview, she suggests he get American tattooed on his forehead. Alex is next, and in chatting with Kiko, we find out Kiko went to school in Boston. Hannah is happy to find out stew Lara has six seasons of experience, although she’d also been a chief stew. We flash back to Bugsy (season two), and in her interview, Hannah says, ugh. Are we doing this again? She hopes history doesn’t repeat itself. Deckhand Rob, and third stew Jessica arrive. In her interview, Jessica lists the myriad of jobs she’s had, including waitressing at Hooters. Alex knows Jessica from their last boat, and says she’s like an older sister and wingwoman. Rob thinks Jessica is attractive. The provisions come in, and Pete says he’s ready to be the Italian stallion. As Tanner would say, Jiminy Cricket.

Captain Sandy has a crew meeting, and says they’re all being thrown in head first. It’s a new boat – 185 feet – and she has a high bar and standard. She’s been hardened from her last crew. In the captain’s interview, she says, when you’re faced with people who are insubordinate – we flash back to Conrad – and with no motivation – we flash back to Hannah, et al – it makes you a better leader. She tells the crew, either you bring it home or take it home. She says their collective main goal is to impress the client, but the crew’s main goal is to impress her. If not, someone gets fired. We’re introduced to engineer Martin, first mate David, and second engineer Warren, all of whom, we will never see again. Hannah goes over the stews’ duties with them, and Kiko curses his life in the galley, Malia tells the deckhands to treat her like one of the boys. Pete seems like he belongs more on Jersey Shore. Hannah says one of the biggest things they need to put focus on is table décor, and Lara says, it’s one of her favorite things to do. Hannah tells her to be as creative as she can be. Lara jokes around, but Hannah isn’t receptive. In Lara’s interview, she says Hannah seems uptight, and doesn’t have a good sense of humor. Malia makes small talk, asking about everyone’s status, and Pete says he has an 8½ year old. He calls Malia sweetheart, and she’s like, what?

At the preference sheet meeting, Captain Sandy says the new primary’s name is Chris Harris. Based in Seattle, he’s an entrepreneur, with businesses ranging from nightclubs to textiles. His sister Jessica, who works for him, will be celebrating her 29th birthday, and they’re bringing along their closest friends. In Kiko’s interview, he says working on charters is harder than private yachts, since on a private yacht, you know your boss. The captain tells them that she wants the water toys out – every one, every time – whenever she drops anchor. No one can find the beer, and Lara pretends she misunderstood Hannah when she’d asked if Lara had seen it. Either that, or she’s not as smart as she seems. The beer is finally located on the aft deck.

Malia says, it’s a huge boat, and washing it down takes time. When Pete becomes a bit overbearing, she says when she needs him to take over, she’ll let him know. Lara shows Jessica how to make a fancy shape with towels for the guest beds, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Kate’s (Below Deck OG) penis. Sorry, poor choice of words on a couple of levels. In Rob’s interview, he says he was a professional model, and went into yachting to take a step back, and revaluate. He found there’s more to life than what you look like. In Hannah’s interview, she says she met someone when she was home in Australia. It’s the first time she’s seen the potential for longevity; marriage and making babies. If she can’t give 100% to her job, there’s no point in being there. Malia thinks Pete might be tough to work with, and bunkmate Hannah thinks it’s going to be Lara for her.

Everyone is on deck at 7:30 am. Captain Sandy tells Hannah, it’s game day, and Pete says, let’s make today our bitch. In the crew mess, Rob tells dad jokes. He tells everyone that owls are forgetful because they’re always saying, who? He also heard a rumor about peanut butter, but he doesn’t want to spread it. Aw, I like him. The guests arrive, and are met with champagne. Captain Sandy tells them that Hannah will give them a tour of the Wellington, and they’ll head for their first anchorage. I’ve already toured the boat (link below if you haven’t) – it’s amazing, and massive. Kiko starts lunch, and the captain begins to pull out. In her interview, she says, usually the wing station is outside, but she can’t see sh*t here. Alex drops the wrong line, and in Malia’s interview, she says, this is a big vessel. There’s no going slow. They finally move out, and Malia breathes a sigh of relief.

In her interview, Lara informs us that if a man doesn’t treat her right, it’s like a switch flips, and she forgets about them. It’s a gift. Hannah asks Jessica how many shots she’s put in the guests’ drinks, and Jessica says she poured for eight seconds. In Hannah’s interview, she says, at least Jessica has a good attitude. Jessica says either she killed it, or she killed them. The guests seem like a nice group of people; smart, and unusually normal. They’re waiting on lunch, but don’t get rowdy and start pounding the table with the silverware or carting off one of the stews like King Kong. In Kiko’s interview, he says he worked for Putin’s godson, who loved his food. While the deckhands put the jet skis in the water, Malia asks if Pete started the engine, and he calls her sweetheart again. Lunch was scheduled for 1:30 and it’s almost 3. Hannah tries to hurry Kiko, who is babbling about his family life when he was growing up. The guests applaud when the food comes out. Captain Sandy asks how the lunch was, and a few of them thought the fish was gooey. She says they spent a lot of money to be there, and she’ll talk to the chef. She wants to make sure they’re given what they want. She goes to the galley, and says she wants to try the texture of the shrimp. She thinks it’s delicious, but not firm. Kiko explains that’s because it was in a stew. The guests play in the water.

In her interview, Hannah says she initially wanted Lara on service, since she’s first stew, but she needs someone who can back her up and be supportive; not someone with an attitude. She switched them for the first charter, so she doesn’t throw herself off the boat. She tells Lara not to take it personally. Chris and another guest go off on jet skis, and Malia tells Pete and Alex to keep their eyes on them. Lara whines to Hannah about having to start at 6:30 am when she was originally told 8:30, but Hannah says they discussed rotating. Lara says she wasn’t told it was 6:30, and Hannah says she just told her. In Lara’s interview, she says she doesn’t take well to this type of thing, and only takes so much before she gets pissed off.

Jessica wants to get in the water, and Lara says, on the last boat she worked, the owner let them do what they wanted. Jessica says her last boat was like that too, and they take a selfie. Hannah pulls out all the stuff that can be used for décor, and Jessica says, it’s sad. In Hannah’s interview, she says she can only work with what she has. She tells Lara to start setting up the table for dinner. Alex and Pete ogle Lara as she figures out a centerpiece. Malia tells them to bring in the toys, and the slide is the usual pita. In his interview, Kiko describes himself as a lover chef. He presents food with love, and puts his heart and soul into it. Hannah tells Lara to clean the cabins, and in Lara’s interview, she complains that she’s being treated like a third stew. She doesn’t like doing cabins anymore. Uh-oh. Chef Kiko is making risotto, the most troublesome dish on the planet. Hannah tells him that she can be helpful when the chef’s not screaming at her. The guests are presented with truffle risotto and filet mignon. Chris thinks the meat is wrong, but I’m not sure if he means it’s gone bad or is badly cooked. The captain checks on dinner, and suggests he get another steak. She brings it back to Kiko, and says the guest complained it was dry. (Question answered) She tells him, give it more reduction sauce. Talk about a hands on captain.

Lara asks if she can eat, and sits in the crew mess, while Kiko makes another steak for Chris. Chris pronounces it delicious, and much better. Dessert is a chocolate brownie with vanilla bean ice cream and a mixed berry confit. I’ll take six, please. Captain Sandy tells Kiko, good job. In Kiko’s interview, he says the captain is making him more confident, so he knows he can do it. Lara starts to eat, and Hannah radios her to start clearing the main deck. Hannah starts without her, and wonders how long it takes for a stew to eat. Lara tries radioing back, but can’t seem to get the radio to work. Lara finally goes upstairs, and Hannah says she’d like to be acknowledged when she asks Lara to do something. In her interview, Lara says if someone is mean to her, she’s going to be mean back. What is the problem with these people that they don’t understand a job means you have a boss who tells you what to do? Lara gripes about not having time, and Hannah says, if she was Lara, she’d start showing some respect.

This season, fire-eaters, acrobats, a return guest, twelve guests for dinner (hint: that’s big), Hannah hopes history doesn’t repeat itself, Captain Sandy gets mad, Malia confronts Pete about the sweetheart thing, a storm blows things off-course, and Hannah has to explain the pantry to Jessica.

🚣🏽‍♂️ Meet the Crew…

While the jury is still out, I see Malia having trouble with Unit Pete and Alex down the road. Mostly Pete.

☀️ The Unofficial Start Of Summer Has Begun…

Weekends have gotten like vacations used to be. (I think I remember those…) By the time I relax, it’s over. I hear Five Below is open again, so apparently, civilization is starting to return. When you get out in it, keep it peaceful. Stay safe, stay out of chaos, and stay believing things will be better. And never say, it can’t get worse.
