What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Maxie and Brook go into the empty gym, and Maxie says, she told Brook they were going to be early. Brook says she wanted to warm up before class starts. She can’t wait to kick something. Maxie asks if she’s ever taken kickboxing before, and Brook says, a few years ago, but nothing recently. How about Maxie? Maxie says, nope. It’s her first time, but she’s excited to learn how to defend herself and her kids against Peter. Brook says she has a different target in mind. Maxie says, really. Anyone she knows?

Austin tells Britt that he’s on the schedule for this afternoon, so whatever this is he’d appreciate if they moved it along. She says, apologies. She is working, and her patients come first. As do his. He says he doesn’t know what she means, and she says, remember when they took a Hippocratic Oath in med school, when they promised to do no harm? He says, of course (🍷) he does, and she says, were those just words, doctor? Or did they mean something to him?

Josslyn, Cameron, and Trina are in what was once the home of the magnificent moss bowl 🎍, and Josslyn looks in the refrigerator. She sees apple drinks and fruit juice, but she’s pretty sure they’re for Donna. Cameron says if they’re going to be studying, he’s going to need coffee, and a lot of it. Josslyn says, okay. What about Trina? Ground control to Trina. Trina says, what? Sorry. Josslyn says she was miles away, and Cameron says, she must be thinking about Spencer. Trina says, she can’t believe his dad threw him out. It seems kind of harsh. Cameron says, maybe, but Spencer crossed a line when he was stalking Ava. He doesn’t deserve a pass. Trina says she knows. What he was doing to Ava was wrong. Somebody had to stop him, but… Josslyn says, maybe he wouldn’t have crossed that line if Esme hadn’t pushed him.

Esme runs into the PCPD, asking where Spencer is, as Chase brings Spencer in wearing handcuffs. She says, take those off him right now! and Chase says, and she is? She says, Esme Prince. There’s been a terrible mistake. They have to let Spencer go. Chase says he’s sorry, but Spencer is in custody. She asks what that means, and Spencer says, it means he’s spending the night in jail. She says, that’s ridiculous. He’s a Cassadine. Who would dare have him arrested? He says he’ll give her one guess.

Ava tells Nina that she’s just full of surprises. She thought Nina trusted her. She thought when Nina left town to reinvent herself, she was someone Nina could confide in. Nina asks what this is about, and Ava says, a fella named Mike. The new man in Nina’s life. As it turns out, that man is Carly’s husband, and Avery’s father.

On the phone, Carly leaves a message for Sonny. She says she tried calling him at the office, but Jason said he hasn’t seen him. It’s about Ava. Her trip to London has been called off because she found out Spencer is her stalker, so of course (🍷) she wants to revisit Avery’s custody agreement. She told Ava that she’d have to talk to Sonny directly, but she’s definitely working some kind of angle.

Jason asks if there’s something on Sonny’s mind, and Sonny says, Jason and Carly. He appreciates Jason looking out for his family while he was gone. Jason says, Sonny already told him, and he was happy to do that. Sonny says, it must have been difficult to decide to get married, and Jason says, it was the only decision. He and Carly had to show a united front for the families, and a big, public wedding seemed like the right message. Sonny doesn’t disagree with that, but there’s one thing he wants to know. When he came back and found Jason and Carly, after the ceremony was over and they were alone, did he walk in on something?

Maxie says she thinks she and Brook need to have a picture of a specific person, so they can get out their aggression. Who does Brook choose? Valentin? Brook says, true, she’s doing everything she can to get Valentin out as CEO, but that’s business. On a personal level, they actually get along pretty well. She thinks it’s because they both care about Bailey so much. Maxie says, she’s really good at making people fall in love with her, and Brook says, and besides, Valentin is rarely at home these days. He’s visiting his WSB past with Anna Devane. Maxie says, and Brook is okay with that? and Brook wonders why Maxie is suddenly so interested in her personal life. It’s not like they’re besties; they’re partners in crime. Brook gets to take care of Maxie’s daughter, and pretend Bailey/Louise is hers, while she gets what she wants out of Valentin, and Maxie gets to keep her baby safe from Peter. Maxie says, it’s not a crime to keep her baby safe from her psycho father. Besides, she maybe, sort of told Chase that they were friends. Brook says, she told Chase that? and Maxie says, Austin reminded her that Brook said she was brave. Brook says she might have said something along those lines under duress, and Maxie says, duress? Brook says, it’s not completely false. Maxie is brave, but she doesn’t go around telling everybody, especially Austin. Did he tell Maxie where he overheard this; where the conversation took place? Maxie says, it must have been that night in the woods, and Brook says, oh my God, and sits down. Maxie sits next to her, and says, relax. He doesn’t remember any details. She brought it up because it’s rare Brook would pay her a compliment. Brook says, those were extreme circumstances. It must have come out of her mouth when she wasn’t paying attention.

Austin says, if this is Britt’s not-so-subtle way of saying he put someone in harm’s way, he’d like to know who, because he’s never, not once, knowingly put a patient at risk. She asks if he denies saying a child he saw at the hospital could be on the spectrum, possibly autistic, and he asks if they’re talking about Leo Falconari. He came in with a cut finger, and he patched Leo up; he’s not Leo’s pediatrician. She asks if he’s a pediatric neurologist, and he says she knows he’s not. She says, yet he diagnosed a child, a child he’s not qualified to treat, as autistic. He says he never diagnosed Leo. What he did was suggests to Leo’s stepfather that Leo would benefit from seeing a specialist. At no point did he tell Ned that Leo was on the spectrum. She says, it’s not Ned Quartermaine who lodged the complaint, and he asks, then who did?… Brook. Of course (🍷).

Spencer asks if he can talk to his girlfriend in private, but Chase says, this is as private as he’s going to get. Esme says, this is outrageous, and Chase tells her, feel free to leave at any time. She says she’ll stay, and Chase says he has to do some paperwork. Officer Daniels will keep an eye on Spencer. Esme brings a chair over, and says she tried to get a lawyer for Spencer, but she can’t access her trust fund. He says his grandmother is still unreachable, and won’t be able to pull any strings to get him out of there. She says she saw an ad on a bus bench for some guy named Baldwin, but when she called the 800 number, he laughed and hung up on her. Spencer says she doesn’t have to stay there, but she promises she won’t abandon him. How much did he tell that detective about them? He asks if that’s all she cares about, that he threw her under the bus, and now she’s going to be arrested too.

Trina says she got to know Spencer when he pretended to be Victor. He seems to be a confused, lonely person who just wants to be loved by his dad, but doesn’t know the best way to make that happen. If anything, he needs friends that care about him and will support him. Josslyn asks Cameron to grab her jacket from the closet; she wants to bring it back to the dorm. He says, okay, and leaves. Josslyn asks Trina if she wants to vent, and Trina says she just hates that she still has feelings for Spencer. Josslyn says she knows what Trina means. When she was little, she found this baby bird that fell out of its nest. Her mom helped her pick out a shoe box, and they lined it with cotton and twigs, and set it by the stove to keep it warm. When she went to feed it, it just nipped her right in the hand with it’s beak. It was bad. Trina laughs, and says, that sounds like Spencer. And she agrees with Josslyn that Esme’s bad news, but they’re not helping Spencer by blaming Esme for everything he did to Ava. Josslyn says, and saying something might make Spencer more defensive. Trina says, and it may backfire, and cause him to get closer to Esme. Josslyn says, and that is the last thing they want. Spencer is accountable for his actions, but so is Esme. She can’t stand Esme’s fake innocent act, claiming to be all sweet all the time. You know who acts like that? Nina Reeves. She’s always so lovely, and so gracious to Josslyn’s face; meanwhile, she was lying about Sonny to everybody the whole time. She saw Nina at Kelly’s today. She knows the sign there says, All Customers Welcome, but she knows it wasn’t innocent. She knows Nina was there for a reason. Maybe it was to see Sonny (yeah, because he’s always in Kelly’s), maybe it was to see her dad, but Nina ended up seeing her. If she never sees Nina again, it will still be too soon. Carly comes in, and says, what about Nina?

Nina says she doesn’t know what Ava is talking about, and Ava says, may she remind Nina that when they last spoke, after Nina found Shangri-La in Whoville, Nina was over the moon about a man named Mike. Nina doesn’t think she said over the moon, but Ava says that’s the impression she got. So imagine her surprise, when Scotty mentioned that Mike was the name Sonny was using in Nixon Falls. Then when she was talking to Carly about Avery’s welfare, Carly warned her that it was Sonny who returned from Nixon Falls, not Mike. So come on. Tell her, friend-to-friend. Does Carly know Nina fell in love with Sonny, and he with her?

Jason says, Sonny walked in on their wedding night, and Sonny says, he guesses he wasn’t paying too much attention. Jason says he gets it. Sonny was anxious to get home and get back to Carly. Sonny says, when he was in Nixon Falls, he used to dream about Carly. He didn’t know it was Carly, but he knew she was important to him. Jason says, and Sonny was to her. She never stopped grieving for him. Sonny says, you can love someone and lose someone, and still get on with your life. Carly’s always loved Jason. Jason says, they’re best friends. Sonny is her husband. Sonny says he guesses it was emotional for both of them; getting rid of the past, and starting a future and a new life. Jason says, it was. A lot was happening at the same time. He and Carly left the reception early. Sonny says, and they went home, to his master bedroom. What would have happened if he hadn’t walked in?

Brook says, now that she and Maxie are… friends, she needs to apologize for pushing Maxie to spend more time with Austin. He’s a really untrustworthy guy, and she really doesn’t like him. She happens to know for a fact that Austin manipulated Chase when he was super vulnerable. Maxie is off the hook. She’s working on Austin from a different angle with Austin. Maxie asks, what angle? and Brook says, forget it. Maxie says, Brook Lynn Quartermaine, what are you hiding?

Austin tells Britt, It was Brook Lynn Quartermaine, right? She’s the one accusing him of breaking confidentiality? Britt says she’s not at liberty to discuss that, and he says, Brook is using her. She knows that, right? Brook is only pretending to be concerned. She says, the fact is, he violated HIPPA, confiding a diagnosis to someone other than the child’s parents. He says, all he was doing was trying to provide a young boy with care that would really help him. Brook is just doing what the Quartermaines do, using a person as leverage to deny him legitimacy at the ELQ table. And Britt is helping her.

Josslyn tells Carly, she ran into Nina at Kelly’s; it was intense. I stare at the stupid faux lily pond, and feel the moss bowl’s 🎍 absence. Carly asks if Josslyn is okay, and she says she’s fine. Carly thought Cameron was studying with them, and Josslyn says he’s grabbing her jacket. Carly says they must not have checked their newsfeeds, and Josslyn asks if everything is okay. Carly says, Spencer was arrested.

Esme says she’s only thinking of Spencer. She can’t help him if she’s in the jail cell next to his. She asks if she should get a lawyer too, and he says he didn’t tell the cops a thing about her; he’d never do that to her. She says she knows that, and Chase comes over to them. He says he’s glad Esme is still there. Would she mind answering some questions? She asks if he’s going to arrest her too, and he says, should he? She says, of course (🍷) not. She’s an open book. What does he want to know? He takes her to the interrogation room, and closes the door.

Trina says, Spencer’s dad put him in jail? and Carly says, his dad didn’t call the police; Ava did. Trina says she knew Ava was angry, but didn’t think she was angry enough to have him arrested. Josslyn says, all they wanted was to teach Spencer a lesson, and teach him to face up to his actions. They never thought he’d be arrested. Cameron comes in wearing Sonny’s cowboy hat, and says, howdy, partners. Cool hat. Where did Carly get it?

Nina asks if Ava doesn’t think she’s jumping to conclusions, and Ava says, translation, Carly had no idea Nina was getting it on in Hicksville with Sonny. Nina says, A, she and Sonny never got it on, and it’s Nixon Falls, and B, don’t dare use Nixon Falls against Sonny. Ava tells her not to get so defensive. She doesn’t want any trouble. Nina asks then what she does want, and Ava says, romance and happiness for Nina and for Sonny. She thinks the two of them still have a chance.

Britt says she’s aware Austin and the Quartermaines are dealing with family issues, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s been accused of violating HIPPA rules about confidentiality. He says, if this is a formal accusation, he’d like a lawyer present. She asks if he sees hospital counsel there. This isn’t a court of law; it’s an administrative review. He says, Brook is manipulating them, but she says she doesn’t have the luxury of taking his word on such a serious matter. He says, but she’ll take the word of a Quartermaine, and now he could lose his medical license over a few lousy ELQ shares. She says he’s suspended from practicing medicine at this hospital pending a disciplinary board investigation on this matter. He asks, how much are the Quartermaines paying her? She says, the meeting is over, and he leaves.

Brook tells Maxie that she’s not hiding anything. She and Austin just don’t mix, and if it was up to her, they never would. But she doesn’t want that animosity to blow back on Maxie. Maxie says, Brook just wants Austin to give up his claim, and go back to Pawtuck. Brook says, for good reason. Her great-grandfather was very specific with his will. He did not want Jimmy Lee Holt or his descendants, and that includes Austin, to get a dime. He didn’t just forget about Jimmy Lee; he specifically cut him out. Maxie asks if she knows why, and Brook says, probably because Jimmy Lee’s mother, Austin’s grandmother Beatrice LeSeur, was a gold-digger. Obviously Austin is too, and probably Jimmy Lee was too. She goes to refill her water bottle, and Maxie’s phone rings. It’s Austin, and he asks if she’s free. He could use a friendly face. She asks, what’s going on? and he says it’s better if he tells her in person. She says she’s at the gym, and can see him later, but he says he’ll be right there.

Chase asks why Esme and Spencer waited a few days before letting anyone know they were in Port Charles, and Esme says, Spencer didn’t want his father to know. She came along because she wanted to help Spencer make things right with him. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen any time soon. Chase says, if Spencer doesn’t have an attorney before his hearing, he’s going to end up with an overburdened public defender. Esme says she’ll be making some calls, and he offers to point her toward someone helpful. She says, helpful to whom? Him or her? He says, whom isn’t a word most people use in conversation, and she says she’s not most people. He says, that is increasingly clear. The night of the party at Windymere, Ava’s car was set on fire. Does she know anything about that? She says she heard about it.

Carly tells Cameron, the hat is a souvenir, and he asks if something is wrong. Josslyn says, Spencer’s been arrested, and Trina says, Ava turned him in. Cameron says, that is cold, and puts on his jacket. Josslyn asks where Cameron is going, and he says, where does she think? Spencer is still his friend, not matter what. Trina says, she’ll go with him, and Josslyn says she’ll meet them there. They leave, and Carly asks why Josslyn isn’t going with them. Josslyn says she will in a second. She needs to talk to Carly about Nina. She got into it with Nina, and she’s not sorry.

Nina tells Ava that Sonny was just there giving her the ground rules, and one of them was to stay out of his way. Ava says, okay. She just booked a flight to London, fully prepared to leave behind Avery and Nikolas, the two people she loves most. Nina asks if it was because of the stalker, and Ava says, not anymore; the stalker was caught. Turns out it was her wicked stepson. He graduated from schoolboy pranks to full-blown terror attacks. Nina asks how she found out. Does Nikolas know? Ava says, Nikolas knows. Right now, Spencer is cooling his heels in a PCPD jail cell. Nina says, Nikolas had his son arrested? but Ava says, she did. Nina asks how Nikolas reacted, and Ava says he supported her decision. Nina says, he supported her decision in getting his only child arrested? but Ava says, that’s not the point. She was ready to give up on them, and now they’re happier than ever. Who says it can’t be that way for Nina and Mike?

Jason says, if Sonny hadn’t walked in, he and Carly would have gone to bed together. Sonny says, okay; he needs a minute, but he doesn’t even take one. He says, he guesses Carly and Jason were together a long time ago, and Jason says, their relationship ended when Carly got together with Sonny. Sonny says, and Jason Left and came back, and Jason says, they stayed friends, but that’s all it was. That door closed when Carly and Sonny got married. Sonny says, they thought he was dead, so now the door they closed is suddenly reopened. Jason says, if Sonny is asking if they fell in love, he can only answer for himself, and he started falling back in love with her. Sonny asks why they didn’t tell him, and Jason says, because he came home. He and Carly got married for two reasons. One, to protect the business… Sonny says, and they thought he was dead, and Jason says, which turned out not to be true. So the three of them just go back to the way it used to be. Sonny says, Jason told him that he was falling in love with Carly. He can just shut off his feelings – Sonny snaps his fingers – like that? Oh come on. In all these years, Sonny doesn’t know Jason is famous for that?

Josslyn tells Carly that she was at Kelly’s when Nina walked in. Nina offered to leave. Carly asks, what stopped her? and Josslyn says, she told Nina to stay. She told Nina that she had something to give her. Carly says, was it a black eye? and Josslyn says, a metaphorical one. She gave Nina back the journal Nina gave her as a high school graduation present. She tore out the pages where she wrote when they thought Sonny was dead. She’s keeping those to remind herself how Nina betrayed them. Carly says she’s so sorry Josslyn has to deal with this, And Josslyn says, they all have to deal with this. Nina did this to all of them. The part she hates the most is that Nina is walking around like everything is fine; like nothing happened. When she called Nina out, she’s there looking at Josslyn with this sad look on her face like she’s sorry, but not sorry enough to bring Sonny back to his family. If the fire hadn’t happened, and if he hadn’t remembered, he’d still be in Nixon Falls. Carly says, she has a brilliant idea. Josslyn is going to focus on class and volleyball, and hang out with her friends, and let it go. Josslyn says, like Carly did?

Nina says she’s grateful that she and Ava aren’t enemies anymore, and Ava is one of her closest friends. But she’s gotten to know Ava just a little bit, and knows Ava’s not above using a situation and turning it to her own advantage. Ava tells her to be careful where she throws that stone, and Nina says, touché, and tells Ava not to take advantage of her complicated relationship with Sonny. Ava says, Nina called it a relationship, and asks, why give up? and Nina says, Sonny made it very clear they have no future, and he’s back with Carly. Ava says, Sonny couldn’t avoid that. He came back, and there she was. But ask herself, how soon before he’s asking himself how badly he really wants his old life back?

Trina and Cameron walk into the PCPD, and Spencer asks if they’re happy now. They got what they wanted. Cameron tells Spencer not to blame them for his own mistakes. He got himself into this, but maybe they can help get him out. Spencer says, how? Did Cameron get a law degree when he wasn’t looking? Cameron says his grandfather, Scotty Baldwin, is a lawyer, but Esme says, don’t bother. She already tried. Mr. Baldwin seems to be enjoying Spencer’s predicament as much as the two of them. Trina tells Esme not to claim to know what she’s feeling, and Chase says, that’s enough. He prefers to have one person handcuffed to this desk. He asks if he can speak with Cameron, and Cameron asks, why? Esme tells him, don’t sweat it. Detective Chase is a real sweetheart. Cameron goes with Chase, and Esme asks if Trina thought she was saving Spencer from himself or her.

Britt answers the phone, and it’s Scotty. She says she’s sorry. Something came up at work… Of course (🍷) she loves her mother… She told him that she’d ask Jason for help, and she will. She promises she’ll swallow her pride and do it, okay?… She just doesn’t know how.

Austin arrives at the gym, and tells Maxie that he’s sorry for interrupting, but this is something that can’t wait. He tells Brook, congratulations, mission accomplished, and Maxie asks Brook, what did she do? Austin says, she’s accusing him of a HIPPA violation based on a conversation she tricked him into having off the record. Maxie says, no, and Brook smiles, saying, he told her that her stepbrother might be autistic. She had no choice but to report him. Maxie asks if they’re talking about Leo, and Austin says he told her it was a possibility, and they should have Leo checked out by a specialist. Brook says, he wanted to distract her father from the lawsuit, and went after him where he’s most vulnerable – his love for his Leo. Now he’s upset worried, which is exactly what Austin wanted. Austin says, he’s concerned about a child. She just wants to score points with daddy. She says he took advantage of Chase when he could barely walk. He took advantage of Chase’s heartbreak over Willow to get Chase to spy for him. Don’t get all holier than thou with her. Maxie says, enough, both of them. Fighting is not going to help Leo. There has to be a peaceful solution to this. Brook says, that depends on Austin.

Brook tells Austin, she can make all his troubles go away if she tells Britt that she misunderstood about Leo, and he says, in return, he drops the lawsuit against her family. She says, renounce any claim Jimmy Lee might have had on ELQ, and he can continue practicing medicine at GH, or in the backwoods of Podunk. He says, Pawtuck, and she says, whatever. She has the papers ready for him to sign. He says, of course (🍷) she does, and she says, it’s his choice. Does he want to be a doctor or a Quartermaine?

Britt looks at her phone, and says, do you know how much I hate you right now, Scott? She talks to herself, saying, hey, Jason, what’s up? My mother’s in danger and only you can save her… Ugh. So desperate. Hey, Jase, what’s up? Feel like going on a road trip? Been there, done that, didn’t work… I need you, Jason.

Chase asks how long Cameron has known Esme, and Cameron says, not long. Chase asks if Cameron knows anything about Ava’s car being set on fire the night of the party at Windymere. Cameron can only help his friend if he tells the truth. Cameron tells Chase, Spencer said Esme set the car on fire. Then he walked it back. Spencer says a lot of things. Truthfully, half the time, Cameron doesn’t know if Spencer is being honest or blowing smoke. Chase says, Cameron did a good thing, getting Spencer to admit he was the stalker. He hopes Cameron doesn’t blame himself for the outcome. Cameron says, he feels bad about Spencer put himself in the position he’s in, but not that he tried to get him to admit it. Chase says, if Cameron learns something new that can help his friend, call him. He gives Cameron his card.

Trina says she never thought Spencer would get arrested. She’s really sorry about that. How can she help? Esme says she has an idea. Me too. Run, Trina, run.

Ava says, from Nina’s description, Mike is a happy man. Sonny is anything but. He’s driven and controlling, and in danger all the time. And he’s married to Carly, who’s hardly the easiest person to get along with. She wonders how long it will take before Sonny is looking fondly back at his time in Nixon Falls. Nina says, it’s not Ava’s business, or hers, and Ava says she just wants Nina to be as happy as she is. On that note, she’s going to visit her stepson, and see if he’s learned that terrorizing people doesn’t pay, Nina wonders what Spencer has to do with her and Sonny, and Ava says, like her and Nikolas. Where there’s love, there’s hope.

Jason tells Sonny that he can’t speak for Carly, but it wasn’t until the wedding got close that he started thinking about getting married. He didn’t want to spend the rest of his life with some business arrangement, so they talked about it, and made the decision that it would be a real marriage. But that’s not what happened. Sonny came back, and he’s home. He had a relationship with Carly, and they still have a relationship. They’re raising kids together, and lost a son together. Sonny is Carly’s husband, and she loves him; he’s just a friend. Jason’s phone dings, and it’s a text from Britt, saying, do you have time to see me? I’m at GH. He says he needs to go, and Sonny thanks him for his honesty. Jason says, hasn’t he always been honest? and leaves. Sonny bangs his fist on the desk.

Josslyn says, Carly couldn’t get this hat off Cameron’s head fast enough. She guesses it’s something Sonny acquired in Nixon Falls, and Carly says, yeah. Sonny’s friend Phyllis brought it to him. She and her husband took Sonny in, and they became friends. Josslyn says she’s still wrapping her head around the fact that Sonny wore that hat. Carly says, she was thinking that Sonny was a different person in Nixon Falls; a different man. Josslyn asks if she’s okay, and Sonny says, that silly cowboy hat belongs to someone else, not Sonny. It belonged to the man he became. He had a whole different life and different friends. Her Sonny, the man she married, would never wear a hat like this. It belongs to a guy named Mike. Josslyn says, Sonny left Mike in Nixon Falls. He’s Sonny now. Carly says she’s right. He’s still their Sonny.

Chase uncuffs Spencer, and he asks if this means he’s free, but Chase says, he’s going to a different location. Esme says she’ll be back soon, and Chase advises her not to leave town. He may have more questions for her. He takes Spencer to the interrogation room, and Esme asks Cameron if she can have a moment with Trina, calling her Treen, which I despise, and I suspect Trina does too. Cameron says he’ll be outside, and leaves. Esme says Trina’s friend Ava is the one responsible for getting Spencer arrested. If she wants to help, convince Ava not to cooperate. Trina doesn’t reply, and walks out.

Maxie asks what Austin is going to do, and he says, nothing. He tells Brook, go ahead. Take her best shot. He thanks Maxie for her kind offer to talk with him, but he doesn’t think he needs to have that conversation now. But she might want to reconsider her choice of friends, and leaves. Maxie stares at Brook, who says, what? I want to smack her.

Britt starts filling out a report on Austin, when Jason knocks at the door. They look at each other.

Chase tells Spencer that he has a visitor, and Spencer asks if Esme found him a lawyer. Chase says, this is a family visit, and Spencer wonders if it’s his father. Ava walks in, and says, just her. Chase leaves, and Ava says, she told Spencer that she’s not going anywhere. Now neither is he.

Carly tells Josslyn, enough reflecting. Go be with her friends. Josslyn asks if she’s sure, and Carly says she is. Spencer needs her. If anyone can make him see the error of his ways, it’s her smart, beautiful daughter. Josslyn says, no pressure, and Carly says, not at all. They exchange I love yous. Josslyn leaves, and Carly looks at the hat, pushing it away. I’ll bet she wouldn’t be nearly so stressed if the moss bowl 🎍 was still there.

Nina looks at a picture of her and Mike/Sonny, and there’s a song part. She almost puts a stack of photos in the wastebasket, but sticks them under a folder instead.

Sonny walks in, and Carly says, howdy, stranger.

Tomorrow, Sam wonders what the hell happened here, Victor tells Peter that he has a lot to answer for, Ava tells Spencer that he might want to shut up for a change, and Carly tells Sonny that it doesn’t seem nearly enough.

Project Runway

There was no Karlie this time, but the usual suspects Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth were back to judge, along with Christian Siriano as mentor. At stake was a quarter million dollars, a feature in Elle, and a CFDA mentorship, along with some less significant prizes.

The contestants met at Lincoln Center, and were taken to The Green, an outside art installation created by Mimi Lien. They were told the power of color uplifted and inspired, and were divided into two teams – warm colors and cool colors. Using colors from a color wheel, each contestant could only use one color in their creation, and the teams were to make a cohesive collection in two days. The warm contestants would be working in the day, and the cool contestants would work in the evenings. The contestants sat down to do their sketching and discuss concepts. The cool color team decided on a flower concept, which somehow translated into putting bows on all the outfits. Why not flowers? Why knows. The warm color team thought of women going out to dinner and a show. The contestants were shown to their townhouse, which was quite impressive, and were given $400 for a 45 minute shopping trip at Mood. I have yet to check Mood out. I’m not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m fascinated with this store. When the teams got to work, Christian did his usual kibitzing, but designer Bones (warm team spokesperson) was not having Christian’s opinion. Alrighty then. Later, and after some advice from his teammates, Bones apologized to Christian. Thirty minutes before the runway show, designer Darren still didn’t have his outfit together, so Bones whipped up a masterpiece of a gold sheath for him, just in case. In a half hour. Darren went with the just in case.

The guest judge was Jason Wu, who’d designed dresses for many celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon and Michelle Obama. The warm team was up first, and their outfits were beautiful, but I wondered why designer Octavio was wearing a Burger King type crown. Another mystery like the bows. The bows which did not work very well. The cool team’s clothing was fine, but even the judges were like, what the hell is up with this bow business? I flashed back to the one dress I made in Home Ec when I was in junior high. It did not have a bow, and was actually pretty good, but that’s when I knew I had no patience for the sewing machine. Or cutting a pattern. I shudder to remember, but I digress. The bottom line was, the bow thing made nothing more cohesive, and a couple of the designers didn’t include a bow in their design anyway.

The judges were all choked up about it being the first runway show they’d seen in a year, and gave the warm team the win. Their collection told a story, whereas the cool team’s vision was unclear. Their three favorites were Octavio aka Crown Dude, Bones, and Darren, so it was really Bones and Bones. To his credit, Darren did give props to Bones for pretty much making the entire thing. To top off Bones’s success with his runway designs, he’d also made a matching outfit for himself. He’s definitely ambitious, and one to watch for the win. The judges conferred on the big winner, as well as who would be out. Elaine pointed out that although Darren was a favorite, the warm team might not have won had it not been for Bones. The three designers with the lowest scores were brought out, and designer Sabrina started crying. Jason told her to let herself learn from the experience and grow from it. Designer Chastity, who’d had an inner struggle over the bow, was told to go with her gut next time. It was designer Caycee who was out, and I had to agree that her coat dress (who wears those?) seemed unfinished. Brandon told her that it wasn’t indicative of who she was as a designer. She told the others that the best part of the whole thing was meeting them, and there was a group hug.

Bones was the big winner within the winners, which was only right. He was given immunity for the next challenge, but I expect him to make all the outfits. In his interview, Bones said he was glad to give Darren a second opportunity. Otherwise, they might have been on the bottom.

Next time, it’s captivating streetwear, and it looks like the designers are already getting snippy (no pun intended) with each other.

👠 Sashaying Away…

I’m behind on Halloween and want to cry. Last year, they were out of mini Tootsie Pops. When will I learn to start earlier? Even so, I’ll be here tomorrow, delivering soap, tea, and other people’s words. Until then, stay safe, stay in your own lane unless absolutely necessary, and stay believing where there’s love, there’s hope.
