What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Shahs of Sunset

MJ wants to go skating. In the car, Reza calls Asa and tells her they want to plan a Winter Wonderland Snowflake Ball to celebrate friends and family. She’s not up for it, but in his interview, Reza thinks it’s because she doesn’t want to answer questions. The group goes to Wollman Rink. Tommy never ice skated, and feels like he’s drunk. Well, he should be good at it then. They get on the ice, where even the toddlers skate better than I do. MJ gives Reza instructions.

MJ thinks something went over GG’s head at dinner about Mike and Jessica. Mike was basically saying that if he didn’t need to worry about what his parents would say, he’d try to get her back. GG totally agrees. MJ thinks they should encourage the possibility. Adam promises that the next time Mike brings that bitch up, he’ll be polite about it.

Asa and her mother go for Asa’s sonogram. Asa is on antibiotics and miserable. Her mom, who has awesome magenta tips on her hair, agrees with the doctor that Asa should rest more. In her interview, Asa says the pregnancy has opened her eyes to the toxicity in her friends. The baby is fine and moving, and we see his tiny dool. She says her son will have much genetic input, and an incredible set-up.

In NYC, Reza says that they have a ninja concierge, who has gotten them mass quantities of take-out. They talk about GG getting engaged. She’s upstairs with Shalom, calling Shervin with the news. She talks about how effing cold it is, and how her hands are freezing, showing him the ring. He’s excited for them. He’s working, but she wishes he was there to see it in person.

GG asks where Mike was last night. MJ wants them to turn it up, but Reza says she hasn’t turned it down yet. In his interview, he says they all went back to the townhouse and to sleep last night, except for Mike. Reza says he’s been swervin’ like Shervin, but he’s on board with it. Mike says he spent the night at the Holiday Inn, and tells them that he had seven women, but GG asks if Jessica was there. He just smiles, and they know he was with her. GG tells us about seeing Jessica in the background of one of Mike’s Instagram posts. They’re going to Queens, but Reza says that all the queens are in Manhattan. This is amusing for me, because one of the titles I’ve considered for my memoirs is, There are no Queens in Queens. They’re meeting Tommy’s family, and Tommy tells MJ to leave her crocheting behind. She tells us that she’s more “in” with the relationship now, and feels like she’s coming home.

Reza takes MJ aside. He says they haven’t discussed Mike still being in love with Jessica. GG joins them, and says that she talks to Jessica from time to time. They agree that his mother is the problem. Reza says Persians live a tribal life, and she’s the tribal chieftain. Jessica has work to do to get back into her good graces.

Tommy says they’ll be meeting guys that he calls his brothers, but they’re not blood relatives. Reza tries to do a Queens accent, and fails miserably. The only New Yorkers who have exaggerated accents are on sitcoms.

GG has to stay behind for rehearsal. Shalom is leaving without seeing the play, and she wishes he could realize it’s just an acting job, and be supportive.

They get to the bar, and Reza yells, What’s up Queens? We’re here! MJ tells us that Tommy was raised by a single mom until she was diagnosed with emphysema, after which she passed quickly. He emancipated himself, and lived with the McGuire family. Reza asks what the Queens drink is and MJ tells him it’s a screwdriver and a shot of I-don’t-care. I think it might be Coors Light. Lots of food is ordered, and Tommy mingles, while Reza, Adam, and Mike eat and talk to passersby. Tommy says everyone has MJ’s back; she’s family now.

MJ and Tommy stand on the bar. MJ says nothing matters more to her than family. When she met everyone at Howard Beach, she got a connection. She says they’re her family. There’s no drama, just unconditional love. In her interview, she says it’s been a hard year for her family with Shams being ill. Tommy announces that he’s the luckiest guy in the world. MJ says that Tommy has made her appreciate the moments that make life worth living. Tommy makes a toast about friends feeling like home. Everyone chants fam-i-ly! Reza is glad that he doesn’t need to worry about MJ anymore. The guys are moving on to see the play, but MJ and Tommy decide to stay.

Back in Los Angeles, Destiney has invested in a juice bar, and Shervin goes to an event there. She spikes his juice drink with tequila. She tells us that you can take the girl out of the nightclub, but you can’t take the nightclub out of the girl. Destiney’s family is there, and she introduces Shervin around.

Destiney and Shervin go outside. She tells him that she’d wanted to rip him a new one after he confessed to his cheating on Annalise. In his interview, he says he’s been running from a serious relationship for a while. He lost faith in them after his parents’ divorce, and cheated to run away. He tells Destiney that he made a mistake, but can’t do anything other than apologize. It’s not like he can turn back the clock.

Asa shops for designer baby things in L.A. Latoya Jackson meets her at the store. She asks what Asa is looking for. The doctor told her that the baby is big, and to forget about newborn stuff. She tells us that the Jacksons are the most famous family in the world, and she’s a part of it. They look at ridiculously expensive baby clothes that the kids will grow out of in five minutes. A Versace onsie? Really? She tells Latoya that People contacted her, but Jermaine wasn’t interested. Latoya asks if she’s going to break him of his shyness and privacy, but Asa says that’s his personality. She talks about having met him when she was younger, and then meeting him again about ten years after high school. She says something about a waterfall and seeing a white fox, and how everything was an omen. The rest is history.

Shervin says that he wasn’t ready for a relationship when he met Annalise, but feelings got involved. Talking to Destiney made him think about Annalise’s feelings, and how he’s being unfair. He says it’s not right to waste anybody’s time. He drives out to the middle of nowhere, leans on his car, and video chats with her. He tells her that his friends are holding him accountable. He doesn’t know how to tell her, but he doesn’t think he’s ready. She says that she can’t hate him for being honest, but it’s completely upsetting. He says he didn’t expect to be with her; it came fast, and he wasn’t ready. He tells her that she deserves 100%, but he doesn’t want to fake it. She tells him that she would have ended it, and that it makes no sense. He even introduced her to his mom, and it’s not like she forced him. She tells him that he needs to figure himself out. In his interview, he says his experience has taught him to understand his own feelings, and he doesn’t want to be in a position like this again. Idiot.

GG arrives at the theater. The director asks if she’s ready, and she says no. He tells her that she’ll be amazing. Reza calls and says they’re on their way, and they’re excited. He tells her that MJ isn’t coming, and she tells him that Shalom left. Reza says they’ll hold it down for her, and cheer her on.

Shalom shows up anyway. In his interview, Mike wonders if it’s his idea of being romantic, but says it’s really stupid, and borderline bi-polar. He sees GG before her entrance. She says he showed up and put a ring on it, so she’ll let him get away with this. In her program bio, it says that GG trained for the Olympics. Reza wonders if she was on the space shuttle too, but we see photos of her in gymnastics training when she was younger. Funny how she never told them.

Reza says that this is the refurbished GG. She used to be effed up, but she could pop off again. If one of her co-stars touches her the wrong way, she could smack a ho. The play begins, and she’s really very good. Mike starts to fall asleep. Not because he doesn’t like it, but Reza says he’s been on a diet of no sleep, whores, and vodka sodas, and it wipes you out. Reza thinks that GG is hilarious, and he’s proud of her. Me too. In his interview, he says that she’s not curing cancer, but she started something, and finished it. It only took 35 years. He applauds.

We get to the kiss, and Reza closes his eyes. It’s really more comical than anything else. Reza doesn’t know if Shalom is bi-polar (word of the night) or what, but no one lost and arm or leg. Reza says that maybe he fine-tuned his meds. Afterward, they get champagne. GG says that she told Shalom that it wasn’t a big deal. She thanks everyone for their support. In her interview, GG says that her life was a roller coaster, going downwards, but in the past year, she’s come a long way. We flash back to her accomplishments, and she says this might be a new path for her. She never thought she’d be this happy Things are working well in her relationships with her friends and her boyfriend, and  She can hear everything better. She thanks everyone for coming, even though she saw Mike passing out.

Next time, the season finale – MJ gets angry with Vida who hasn’t seen Shams in a month, Reza tells Asa that she’s disconnected, Adam wants to pull back, and Mike says that Jessica is no one else’s concern. I love these guys, but they do get all up in each other’s business.

Fear the Walking Dead

Victor realizes that it’s the last thing Madison wants to hear, but they’re about to walk into – she knows what they’re about to walk into. She says that what happened wasn’t their fault. They’ll hand over what they have, and hope the invitation stands. Victor asks what if Daniel refuses, and she says they have Ofelia.

Ofelia passes out, and falls off the back of the truck. Crazy Dog yells for them to stop. She says she’s fine; she just lost her grip. Madison wants to talk to her for a second. Did she get bit? Yep, that looks like a bite mark near her shoulder, and she’s not looking too good. Ofelia wants to go to her father, and asks Madison for her word. Madison says she will.

Alicia has set up a little camp inside a house. She hears something outside. She looks around, and sees a guy getting out of his car. She tells him get back in or she’ll kill him. It’s Nick and Troy. Nick tells her this is; she has no idea what it’s like. He tells her there’s safety in numbers, and she says that she almost died surrounded by people. She asks if it’s him or mom talking. He says that their mom will lose her sh*t if he comes back without her. She says that she forgives him, but he doesn’t owe her – or their mom.

At the Bizarre, Victor tells Madison that if they so much think Ofelia is sick, they’ll kill her. Madison tells Ofelia to smile; her life depends on it. A guard searches Ofelia. Victor is miffed that the exchange rates aren’t as good now. Some things never change. Ofelia is burning up, and Madison asks Walker to stay with her while she gets something for the pain. She tells Walker to stay awake, and gives him a knife. Victor says that she gave away half of their rifles for what? To give Ofelia a good by? She tells him there’s no plan B. She gave her word that she’d bring Ofelia to Daniel. He says her word isn’t worth a damn; only resources are worth anything, and she’s squandered what they have. They’ll see what Daniel has to say when she shows up to pay for water they don’t need with a dead daughter and empty hands.

Nick tells Alicia, last chance. Alicia says she knows where they’ll be, and she can find them. Nick prefers that she didn’t die, and she promises she won’t. They hug good-by. Nick and Troy leave. Alicia smiles.

Troy says that Nick must have been a real treat back in the day. Nick tells him it’s old news, and none of his business. Troy asks why he stayed. Nick says that Travis was dead, and Luci was sick; his mom was falling apart, and he had to keep it together. Troy calls bullsh*t, and says that he stayed because he loves them. They’re more alike than he thinks. They’re children of violence, but Nick wishes that he wasn’t.

Ofelia is looking worse. Madison brings her something for the pain and fever, and electrolytes for dehydration. She says that Ofelia doesn’t deserve this, and neither does Daniel. Maybe he will kill them all. Walker says that yesterday, he lost everything he ever knew – home, friends, the bones of his forefathers. He was raised on loss, and thought he was good at it, but there’s such a thing as too much. Ofelia has to see her father one last time, and Madison is honoring that wish. She’s returning his daughter for him to bury, and put an end to this, even if it gets them killed. Madison thanks him.

Alicia drives around, and stops at a fast food place, and goes inside. Oh look, fries. I wonder how old those are? She leaves her gun on the counter – which is never a good move – overturns a bucket, and climbs up to see what’s above a cabinet. We see a zombie outside. She grabs a bucket of instant potatoes. The zombie is now inside, and Alicia stabs him in the head. We hear more zombies coming. No potatoes for you! Alicia looks around the inside playground, and hops into the ball pit, positioning herself to pop them off as they come in. The balls start moving behind her, and I say, no! out loud. Alicia disappears, and then pops up again, along with a little girl zombie. They struggle, and Alicia stabs it in the throat. Here come the rest. Alicia hides underneath the balls. I hope that was the only kid who was in there. A woman with a pickax comes through, dispatching the zombies. When she’s done, she steals their gold, cutting off fingers, and pulling out teeth. She takes the potatoes and leaves. Alicia is like, wow.

Nick and Troy return to the Bizarre. Walker tells him about Ofelia. Madison asks about Alicia. Nick says that they found her, and she’s okay. She’s actually happy, and he couldn’t get her to come back. She knows where to find them. She asks where Troy is, and Nick says that he’s at the bar. She says the more people they have, the safer they’ll be, and starts to cry. Nick that it’s okay. She thanks him for being there, and doesn’t know what she’d do without him. He tells her go get some fresh air, and he’ll look after Ofelia.

Nick watches Ofelia. He sees the bag of pills, thinks about it for a millisecond, takes one out, looks at it, and puts it in his mouth. I don’t blame him.

Alicia wanders around town. She finds a car, and sees the potatoes in it. She reaches in to get them, and the woman from the fast food place comes out.( I find out later on Talking Dead that her name is Diana, although I don’t think they actually said it during the episode.) Diana says that she’ll crack Alicia open like a coconut if she touches the potatoes. Alicia says that they’re her potatoes, and Diana asks why they’re in her car. Alicia tells her that she took them from the restaurant Just give them back, and she’ll be on her way. Diana says that would be a conflict of interest. She walks toward Alicia, and Alicia levels the gun at the gas tank. Diana asks what she’s going to do after it blows up, and Alicia asks why make trouble where there isn’t any. They can share them. She’s tired and hungry, and she’d prefer not to kill her.

At the Bizarre, Nick orders tequila, and asks where he can get uppers. The waitress says that he’ll have to ask the Butcher. Troy tries to discourage this idea, but Nick says that Troy owes him. He tosses back a shot, and gives Troy a pill.

Victor strolls through the back hallways, where it looks like the hookers and gambling dens are. He starts to jimmie a lock, when a man says that this is the time he should realize how deep in sh*t he is. Victor turns to face a group of guys, and says he wants to talk to the Proctor. The leader says don’t they all, and it’s better if he stays away. Victor says he has something the Proctor wants.

Madison tells Ofelia it’s time.  Walker says that Daniel is coming, and Madison says it will be worse seeing him there. Ofelia says it’s okay. Victor holds her for a moment, and Madison takes her outside. She finds a spot. I’m not crazy about Ofelia, but this is a little sad. Ofelia doesn’t want anyone to see her, and Madison says he’ll be here soon. Ofelia says to tell him that she was looking forward to getting to know him. Madison tells her that you think you can protect your kids, but somehow they know who you are and what you did. They know you; it’s in their blood. She says that Ofelia knew her father; don’t think she didn’t. Ofelia leans on Madison. Daniel’s truck pulls up, but Ofelia is dead. Madison is like, nooo. She walks out to Daniel, and tells him to wait and listen for a minute, but he walks over to where Ofelia is. He says her name, and holds her. Madison freaks a little, and we’re both waiting for Ofelia to turn. Daniel asks what kind of sick joke this is, and what happened? Madison says that the ranch was overrun. Ofelia saved them, but got bit. Daniel says, this is the price. He tells Madion to get away before he kills her, She walks past him. Behind her we see Daniel raise his gun, and we hear the shot. (Another thing I learned from Talking Dead. There were several Ofelia endings bandied about, including having her turn. Not only did the actress have a serious problem with the contacts, it was agreed that it would break the mood. Wise choice.)

Nick and Troy are high, and things are blurry and weird. This doesn’t look like much fun. Nick asks somebody something in Spanish. They go inside to a bar. The bartender asks how he can be of assistance. Nick says he’s looking for things, and the guy shows him a tray of weird stuff. Nick wants up, and the guy goes to a shelf where there’s more weird stuff in jars. Troy wants to leave. The bartender shows Nick something, and explains that it’s the nucleus of a brainstem, and pure adrenaline, enough to wake the dead. He gives them each one at no charge, putting them in glasses. Troy asks whose glands these are, and dude says we’ll call them Pete’s. Nick downs his. Everyone stares at them, and it’s freaking weird. Troy swallows his.

Alicia asks what Diana does with the teeth. Diana says that the Mexicans buy gold in bulk at the post, and some will sell the teeth and fingers for charms as protection from biters. She gives Alicia a ring with a tooth mounted on it, saying that she looks like she could use protection. Alicia says no offense, but it’s disgusting. Diana asks where she’s headed, calling her too good for good luck. She tells Alicia that she’ll just pass ghost town after ghost town, all picked clean. The potatoes were a gift. Alicia says she’ll find a way. She had to find way to do it alone or die. Diana says that’s why she doesn’t keep company with anyone, and no offense, she’s taking her things and going. She says that this is the life, and Alicia ain’t finding a way out. Not north, south, or anywhere. If she can grow accustomed to killing, she’ll get by. Alicia wonders who could get used to this, and Diana says that if a woman sets her mind to it, she can get used to anything.

Nick and Troy climb the fence, and drop down into the outside. Nick tells Troy not to fight it; he’ll never feel freer or more himself. They act all strange and goofy. A zombie is in the cab of a truck, and Nick repeatedly slams the truck door on it as it climbs out. Nick takes some of the zombie’s blood, putting it all over both his and Troy’s faces. They walk down the street into a group of zombies. Nick hesitates for a moment, and then plows in. Troy is scared, and so am I. Troy follows Nick, and the zombies keep on going past them. Nick says he can’t go back. Troy hugs him. This new bromance is way too weird.

Madison picks up the bag of pills, realizing some are missing. Daniel finds her, and says he was walking all night. He carried Ofelia to a tree, and buried her with his aunts. Madison says that she saved Alicia’s life. Daniel asks where Alicia is, and Madison tells him that Alicia left; she’s on her own now. She can’t blame her for having enough. Daniel asks about Madison being with Ofelia when she died, and if she said anything. Madison says Ofelia told her that she loved him, but I get the feeling Daniel doesn’t buy that. Madison must think so too, because she adds that Ofelia said she was looking forward to getting to know him. She told Ofelia that she already did, but she never knew man who brought her to them. Daniel says that she saw him once for a moment, and it frightened her. He tells Madison to get her things ready; this is no place for her. She tells him that she would like to bring the others, if that’s all right. He nods.

Alicia wakes up. Diana is outside, messing with the car engine. Alicia asks where she’s headed, and Diana says to more killing – teeth won’t pull themselves out. Alicia asks if she needs help. Diana says no friends, just killing. She asks if Alicia ever thought about selling her hair, but Alicia tells her don’t even think about it. They go off together. I like it. This new sisterhood is definitely not weird.

Madison sees Nick and Troy. She says that they’re heading back to the dam. Nick tells her that they’re thinking of staying behind for a couple of days. She tells him to do what he needs to. He knows where to find them. Nick and Troy walk off.

Victor asks if Madison is ready. She says she is, and asks what about him? He says, always

Next time, the two-hour season finale. Before which, there will be a marathon. I notice that Efrain is played by Jesse Borrego, who was Jesse in the 1982 TV drama Fame.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

At the MetroCourt, Carly makes a toast to Bobbie for her years of service at the hospital. Bobbie appreciates the champagne and accolades, but the best part is being surrounded by those she loves. Carly says, not everyone, to Sonny.

Michael goes to the Crimson office where Nelle is. He says that she hasn’t been answering her phone, and she tells him that she needed time to cool off. He suggests dinner somewhere quiet to talk, and she likes that idea, but when he invites her to the brunch for Bobbie, she doesn’t think so.

Valentin and Lulu explain joint custody to Charlotte. She asks what about holidays. She’s worried about Santa finding her, but Valentin assures her that Santa will find her anywhere. Charlotte goes to get ready for the brunch, and Valentin mentions their agreement to be civil for Charlotte’s sake. Lulu says Charlotte isn’t in the room, so let’s get down to business.

At the hospital, Griff asks Deanna about an appointment he set up for Ava. He had to get it squeezed in, and Ava suggests rescheduling, but he tells her that she needs to see specialist. He wants to make sure no further damage was done. Ava says she has every confidence that she was on her way to a normal existence until her conscience got the better of her.

Patient 6 does pushups. Side story: I once visited the One Life to Live set, and the guys did pushups before their scenes so they could look more pumped. Truth!

Jason and Sam arrive home. Jason tells Sam that she’s a good nurse. Inside, there’s a welcome home banner from the kids. He tells her how much he missed them, and she says that they missed him too, but he’ll always find his way back to his family. They kiss.

Patient 6 does crunches. A British man’s voice says he should have passed on that last bottle of Dom. We see him tied up, and he asks Patient 6 who the hell he is.

Valentin tells Lulu that Nina has a two-day celebration on Christmas and Christmas Eve. Nina tells them that Nathan and Maxie will be there, and Lulu says that she’s sure they’ll enjoy it, but Charlotte will be at the Quartermaines where Dante’s mother is making dinner. They decide to table the Christmas discussion, and start bickering about Thanksgiving, Valentin asks if Lulu is going to threaten him with gun like her mother did.

Carly tells Sonny that she called Michael, but got voicemail. Sonny says maybe he’s busy with work and will make it up to Bobbie later, but she thinks that in warning him, she played into Nelle’s hands.

Michael is hoping that the animosity his family has for Nelle will change, but she says it’s not about his grandmother; it’s about him, and everything that he’s accused her of. Michael says he didn’t accuse her of anything, but she says he didn’t approve of her keeping the ring, and it’s not his call. She didn’t appreciate him judging her for it. He says that’s fair, and they can agree to disagree about the ring. Nelle wonders if he’s starting to believe that she did something to Zack. Michael says it was an accident, but the family needed someone to blame. He knows they gave her hell, but he’s not them. In the past year, he’s gotten to know and care about her. He asks if it’s possible to move on and get past it. She says it is.

Griff says that Ava came through for a total stranger. She tells him that all she did was give the guy a paperclip. Had she known her life would be on the line, she would have left him to his own devices. She says that she heard Nikolas’s voice in her head, and tells Griff about how they didn’t get along at first, until the Weeping Nyad. Griff is like, huh? She says long story short, he stayed by her side.

The British dude tells Patient 6 to explain himself. Why was he on the attack? Patient 6 says he didn’t attack him, although he doesn’t deny tying him up. British dude tells Patient 6 to release him at once. Patient 6 says British dude came after him with a pipe, and he’s not letting that happen again.

Ava tells Griff that Nickolas literally gave his life for hers. She’s still processing it, and wanted to repay him. The only thing she could do was be a better person, and pay it forward. Griff says that it’s not always easy. Ava says she did more than fall short; she sold him out to fix her face. Griff thinks she can still make it right with her testimony. She’s grateful for the help, but says that he did his good deed, and their business is officially concluded.

Nelle tells Michael that she can’t be with someone who doesn’t trust her. Michael says that they have no problem then, but he wants her to trust him the same way. They can’t pretend to agree when they don’t. It only leads to repressed emotions and fights. While he doesn’t mind the make-up process, he wants to be free to disagree with her. He kisses her, and asks if she wants to be his date for brunch. She says she has to work. She wants things organized by the time Nina gets back, and besides, brunch with Bobbie (sounds like a talk show) is a terrible idea. Michael thinks the more they interact, the more they’ll see what they have in common, but Nelle doesn’t think that she’s up for it today. He tells her that he’s not going either then, but she says it will only confirm their suspicions that she’s turning him against them. She asks him to do it for her, and he says okay.

Laura is happy that Bobbie is getting the recognition that she deserves. Bobbie says the same to her, now that she’s a board member. They talk about Lucas and Brad not being able to make it (are they still on this show?), and Valerie tells them that she saw pamphlets on adoption at their place. Bobbie and Laura get all excited, and Valerie tells them that they didn’t hear it from her. Laura tells Bobbie that Lulu and Dante are picking up Charlotte from Wyndemere. Bobbie says she wouldn’t have handled the situation with as much grace as they are.

Lulu doesn’t believe Valentin, but he says Laura’s feeling about him are no secret. He thought of pressing charges, but didn’t want to put Charlotte’s grandmother in jail. Dante suggests he’s saving it for leverage. Valentin says if it happens again, he’ll be contacting social services. Lulu and Dante leave with Charlotte. Nina asks Valentin when he was going to tell her that Laura held a gun on him. He says it wasn’t loaded, but Nina tells him that’s not the point; Laura is physically attacking him now. I guess she doesn’t know about when Laura tried punching him out at the docks. Valentin tells Nina that he didn’t want to upset her, but she says upset doesn’t begin to describe how she feels. He says the more erratic they get, the weaker their position. Nina says that Lulu already thinks she can have Charlotte whenever she wants. Valentin says that Thanksgiving is a month away, what could happen?

Valentin’s phone rings. Nina jets for work, and Valentin tells the caller thanks for the update.

Ava apologizes to Griff for being harsh. She says she can’t repay him, and she doesn’t mean for the rescue. Before that, he was getting her to be human again. He tells her that she was always human, but she says she didn’t feel like she was. In hindsight, she can see that he was offering only friendship, but she never had that many friends, and won’t make that mistake again. Griff says that he meant what he said. He never pitied her, and needs to own his part. He never thought his actions would be misinterpreted, and that was insensitive. He was focused on only his own feelings, and he doesn’t want to lose her as a friend; she means too much to him, but it’s her call. He’ll respect her decision, no matter what. Deanna tells them that Dr. Guerrero is ready to see Ava.

Jason tells Sam that it’s quiet without the kids, like when they first moved in together. Sam says it was a lifetime ago. Jason says it’s the first day of the rest of their lives (really, he said that), and they should make the most of it. She tells him that the doctor said he should take it easy, and he says to be gentle with him.

Patient 6 shows British dude a pipe, and says he tried to swing it at his head. British dude tells him it was an accident. He was trying to escape some unsavory characters. He’d thought Patient 6 was sent to finish him off. He seems to be a man of action who knows about restraining a fellow.

Sam and Jason get busy. I’m loving her jeans, although she probably won’t be wearing them much longer.

Nina comes into the office. She forgot to pick up her coffee, and asks Nelle to get her some from upstairs. Nelle tries to talk her into getting coffee from Perks instead, and eventually tells Nina the real reason she doesn’t want to go into the restaurant. Bobbie’s brunch is going on.

Bobbie hugs Michael. She says if it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t have been awarded this prestigious honor. Sonny looks at Carly like, told you.

The British dude introduces himself as Huxley Lynch. He was on a business trip and has to keep a low profile. His associates aren’t happy with him because their investments didn’t pay off. He says that Brexit wasn’t his fault. Patient 6 doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and Huxley asks if he’s been living under a rock.

Sam and Jason bask in the afterglow. She asks what he wants to do. He tells her gather up the kids and sail into the sunset. She wonders if he could handle being stranded with her on an island. He tells her that he has to have a purpose, but it’s not like he has a specialized skill set. She says he does, but it’s nothing he could put on a resume.

Griff remembers telling Ava that she’s beautiful and the two of them kissing, He makes a worried face. You know, that face he always makes.

Ava tells the doctor to give it to her straight. He says he’s astonished, and the improvement is incredible. She says imagine how she’d look if the treatments had been finished. Dr. Guerrero leaves to get the test results, and Ava picks up a hand mirror. She looks amazing, except for a patch near her jawline. She says one more treatment is all it would have taken. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Valentin.

Ava asks what he’s doing there. Valentin tells her that he wanted to see the results for himself, and it’s a vast improvement, but he expected more. She says she had to run for her life. She just committed a tiny infraction of the rules, and they threatened to drug her. Valentin says he just gave the referral; after that, it was out of his hands. She tells him she can change her statement again.

Huxley says he’s not surprised that Patient 6 doesn’t keep up with global news – he’s American. He’d thought since Patient 6 had been visiting Russia, he was a man of the world, interested in more than fidget spinners and the Kardashians. I regret to say that spellcheck recognizes Kardashians as a word. Huxley says it’s going to be a long ride, and asks if Patient 6 can be persuaded to untie him.

Sam reminds Jason that Michael had offered him a position at ELQ. He says he appreciated the offer, but doesn’t want a job that keeps him away from her and the kids. He tells her that before he got shot, he had been thinking about a possible career.

Carly apologizes to Michael, saying that she could have handled it better. She’s glad he showed up. Michael tells her that Nelle insisted on it, and she’s more supportive of his family ties than Carly thinks.

Nelle tells Nina that no matter what she does, a cloud of suspicion hangs over her with Michael’s family. Nina says that sounds familiar; she also has a troubled past. Nelle asks what she did to move forward, and Nina says she had help from friends who were supportive, like Michael is with her. She tells Nelle that she also listened to Maxie’s advice to “fake it til you make it.” If Nelle acts like she shouldn’t be judged, eventually they’ll stop doing it. In the meantime, there’s always caffeine. Nelle leaves to get the coffee.

Lulu, Dante, and Charlotte arrive at the brunch. Charlotte and Dante give Bobbie a present, and Laura asks Lulu how it went. Lulu says it was a little tense, but no one pulled a gun. D’oh! Laura seems surprised that Valentin told Lulu, and I’m starting to doubt her sanity. Lulu asks what she was thinking. Laura says when she found out that they’d be sharing custody because Ava recanted her statement, something snapped. She wanted him to feel the terror that Nikolas did. Lulu gets it, and would probably have done the same, but tells Laura that from now on, play it smart. As much as she’d like to put the fear of God in Valentin, he holds the cards. She says to play nice. They’re stuck with him, and it’s not changing unless there’s a miraculous turnaround.

Valentin tells Ava that it will be the second time she changed her story, and she’ll be looked at as an unreliable witness. She’ll make her testimony officially meaningless. Why doesn’t she just enjoy the victory? Her face isn’t perfect, but it’s a vast improvement, and she has him to thank. Ava raises her hand to smack him, and he grabs her arm. Suddenly, heroman Griff appears, and tells Valentin to stay away from her.

Nelle sees Michael, and tells him that she’s picking up coffee. He says she doesn’t have to pretend he’s not there, and asks her to say hello. She figures she might as well. Michael leads her over to the table, and says that she wanted to stop and congratulate Bobbie. Bobbie snarks that she really shouldn’t have, and Nelle says this was a mistake; she’s going to leave. Carly asks Bobbie if she couldn’t have played it closer to the vest.

Valentin lets go of Ava, and Griff asks if she’s all right. He says he’s not going to let Valentin hurt her, and Valentin says that Ava attacked him. Griff tells him to leave or he’ll have security throw him out. Valentin says he just wanted to see how Ava’s procedure went. It was too bad she couldn’t stick around for them to finish. Valentin leaves, and Ava says that he’s a bastard, but he’s right. All she needed was one more treatment. Griff holds her.

Sam asks Jason what new career? He tells her that he doesn’t want to jinx it, but when he has something solid, he’ll tell her. Now he’s just an unemployed man with nothing but time on his hands. She asks what he wants to do, and he says that he might have some fresh ideas. They start kissing.

Patient 6 tells Huxley that he’ll let him stretch his legs. Huxley calls him a gentleman and a scholar. Patient 6 says he’ll have to tie him back up though, and Huxley says that it was just a misunderstanding; allow him to demonstrate. He sees that Patient 6 has no luggage, and he’s also traveling light. He tells Patient 6 to get his bag, and help himself to the contents. Patient 6 gets the bag and pulls out a London newspaper. While Huxley goes on about reading and Proust, Patient 6 looks at the date, and makes a soap opera face.

Charlotte gives Bobbie a picture that she drew of herself and all four of her “parents.” Lulu says it’s one, big, happy family, like she said.

Valentin brings flowers to Nina at the office. She asks if they worked things out. He says he doesn’t think that anything will take Charlotte away again.

Ava tells Griff that she thought she could change her testimony again, and make things right. She had her chance, and there’s no making up for it. Griff says he doesn’t believe it. She tells him that might work on his parishioners, but not with her. Some things can’t be undone, so stop acting like she can be saved. He’s wasting his time. He tells her that he has faith in her.

Carly tells Sonny that she has to talk to Bobbie. Nelle got the reaction she was hoping for when she was sure that Michael would see.

Michael tells Nelle not to take it personally, and she asks how she’s supposed to take it. He tells her that it won’t always be like this, but she’s already been through it with Zack’s family. They’re determined to think the worst. There’s nothing he can do to make it better.

Jason asks if Sam wants breakfast. She’s glad his appetite is back, but there’s no food in the house. She tells him that she’ll run to Kelly’s, and he can work on his surprise career, whatever it is. When she’s gone, Jason makes a call. He asks to speak to Julian.

Patient 6 says the newspaper date can’t be right. Huxley says it’s over a week old, but Patient 6 says that he’s talking about the year. Huxley gets excited that it might be a collector’s item. Patient 6 asks if it’s really 2017.

On Monday, Franco needs to tell Elizabeth something, Michael asks Sam for advice, and Huxley wonders what’s so important about a date.

I had to make a decision. Hell’s Kitchen or Once Upon a Time. Since it’s easier to catch up with Hell’s Kitchen, I went with the latter.

Once Upon a Time

Henry is leaving home. Operation Cobra is over, everyone has happy endings, and he needs to find his own story. There are endless possibilities, and he needs to figure out where he belongs. He rides his motorcycle through a portal, nearly colliding with Cinderella driving a coach. The coach ends up trashed, but as all fairytale princesses do, Cinderella falls into a bed of flowers.

In present day Seattle, Henry is a writer. A little girl knocks on his apartment door, and insists that she’s his daughter, Lucy. He tells her that’s impossible, but she says a curse changed his memories. She tells him that his place is a dump, and he says he didn’t write Harry Potter. Lucy tells him that the reason he’s not successful, is because he’s not living his own story. Her mother is Cinderella, and lives with other fairytale characters in Hyperion Hts. Her mother’s stepmom wants to get them out of the town, so they’ll be separated. Henry says that her mother has to do what they all do – save herself.

Hey, it’s Dania Ramirez from Devious Maids! Present day Cinderella, Lucinda, calls her fast food boss a jerk. He tells her to apologize, but she refuses. She quits her job.

Back in the day, Henry tells Cinderella that he’s from another realm. He asks if she doesn’t have a prince to find and offers to give her a ride on his bike.

Seattle Henry looks for his laptop, and finds a note from Lucy, who is holding it hostage until he meets her. He goes to a local bar called Roni’s. Roni is the old Regina. She tells Henry about how the neighborhood is changing. A woman named Victoria Belfry is buying up everything, and everyone is scattering. She’s going to sell her bar, saying that she might as well take the money. She says it looks like he’s had a day, and he says imagine if he walked in and said he was her son.

Henry shows Cinderella how the motorcycle works. She gets on back. She asks how her story ends; do they live happily ever after? He says there’s complications before that, and tells her about losing her glass slipper. She tells him that she doesn’t believe him. She knocks him off the bike, and drives off.

Lucinda is also Lucy’s mother, and comes home to find her gone.

Victoria walks into her office like Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. She tells her assistant to find her granddaughter.

In olden times, the wicked stepmother has cut off the fairy godmother’s wings, and tells her that it’s a teaching moment. Her stepdaughter (who isn’t so ugly) wants to use the wand, but the stepmother tells her that magic isn’t power because it can be taken away, but fear lasts forever. She hands it to the stepdaughter, saying just this once, and the stepdaughter points it at the fairy godmother. She disappears, poof! in a cloud of smoke, leaving a pile of ashes. The stepmother says to have Cinderella clean it up.

Lucinda finds Lucy at a wishing well. She says that she doesn’t believe in it, and Lucy will just be wasting a quarter. Lucy tells her to give it time. Lucinda asks where she was, and Lucy says that she found her dad.

Lucinda goes to Roni’s with the laptop. She tells Henry that she’s sorry and it won’t happen again. He tells her that he was starting to wonder if he had a kid, but he would have remembered her.

Meanwhile, back at the castle, Henry sees Cinderella at the ball. He’s less concerned about his bike, than the dagger she stole from him. She’s there to kill the prince, who took everything from her family. He killed her father, and she’s been sweeping floors ever since. He tells her that revenge is no happy ending. He knows where she can start over, and find her own story. She says that her father meant the world to her. Cinderella walks toward the prince. Henry gets dizzy, and falls to the floor. The waitress, or wench, or whatever she is, winks at him. The next thing he knows, he’s in a cave. The winking woman is there, and he calls her Alice.

In Seattle, Robert Carlyle (whose name we don’t know yet, but I’m glad to see is back) is sticking a guy’s head under water, and I get the impression it’s an interrogation. Alice tells him that there’s someone new in town, and she thought he’d want to know.

Henry asks about Lucy’s father, and Lucinda says it was a fling, and he’s not in the picture. She talks about a place across the water, where she and Lucy could live quiet, happy lives. She says it’s not much of a story, but Henry thinks it’s perfect. Victoria strides in, and Roni says it’s hers at midnight. Victoria says that’s not why she’s there, and tells Lucinda that day drinking is how she ended up with Lucy. Lucy needs stability, and will be moving back in with her permanently. Henry says he understands the Cinderella thing now. Victoria knows Henry’s name, and he wonders how. She tells him that in the real world, people get hurt, and if that happen, he’ll be sorry he came there. Alrighty then.

Henry’s car has been stolen. He goes to the police station to report it. The desk cop looks under his desk, and says, nope, not there. Officer Rogers (used-to-be Hook) comes out and tells Henry that some of them still care. Henry explains that he has to get out of there and his car is gone.

In olden tymes, Henry has some kind of vines holding him to the wall of the cave. He says the woman is Alice in Wonderland, and she says she’s from a lot of places. You take one crazy trip, and that’s all anyone knows. He asks her to get him out of there. She tells him that Rumpelstiltskin knows him. She says that she can’t help; it’s not his story, and when it’s not your story, bad things happen. When bad things happen, she’ll be far away. Alice tells him to forget Cinderella, but Henry says that when someone needs help, he helps them.

Henry sees Lucy, and tells her that his car was stolen. He asks if it was her, and she says of course not; she can’t even reach the pedals. He tells her that he’s going home, and she says that he is home. He says he’s not the one who can save her. She says that he always believed, and argues that the curse has blinded him to the truth. He says that he had a family, and they died in a fire. Lucy insists that she and Lucinda are his family. She tells him that no story is perfect; it just needs to start. Lucinda pulls up and tells Lucy that they’re going to live their story.

Just before the bridge, Lucinda’s car dies. Lucy says that the curse wants them to stay there. Lucinda says they’ll walk.

At the ball, the price sweettalks Cinderella. She says that he doesn’t recognize her. She pulls out the dagger, but she can’t do it. Surprisingly, the prince falls over dead, stabbed from behind by Cinderella’s stepmother. She says that Cinderella can never manage to finish her chores. She explains that he rejected her daughter. Then she calls for the guards, yelling that Cinderella has murdered the price. Henry tells her to take the bike, and starts a swordfight. Cinderella joins in, and gets in some licks in before she runs out the door. Very cool scene. I love a swordfight.

At the station, Rogers says they can’t find Henry’s car. Victoria interrupts, saying that Lucy is missing. Henry wonders if Lucinda can’t build a better life, but Victoria says not by running away. If Henry helps her, he can get his car.

Lucy doesn’t want to go. Lucinda tells her about having to live with her stepmom, and says they can have a fresh start. She understands Lucy’s belief in fairytales – life is hard – but this once, believe in her. Rogers pulls up, and Lucinda’s stepsister hops out of the car. Lucinda finds out that Henry squealed on them. Stepsis takes a book out of Lucy’s backpack and gives to Rogers to burn or use as evidence. It’s Once Upon a Time. He looks through it. He sees Emma’s picture.

Lucinda sees Henry. He tells her that the car has no damage, and nothing was taken; it makes no sense She says that life doesn’t sometimes, and hopes it was worth it. He says he didn’t ask to be dragged in, and she tells him good luck with his second book.

In the enchanted forest, Henry looks for Cinderella at the carriage. His phone sounds an alarm, and a portal opens. He moves toward it, and finds one of her shoes on the ground. He says that Operation Glass Slipper is a go.

Rogers makes detective. His new partner is Robert Carlyle.

Roni changes her mind about selling the bar. Victoria says they had a deal, but Roni says that Victoria’s stepdaughter inspired her by not giving in. Victoria loves pushing people around, maybe it’s time someone pushed back. It’s her bar, her home, and her life. It might have seen better days, but it can again. We see Lucinda go in and get her job back at the fast food place. She starts sweeping the floor. Roni says that she’s thought about what she wants to do and have, but she’s not doing and having.

As Roni talks, we see Henry going with flowers to where he thought there was a cemetery, and Rogers look at the book. Roni says that everyone has given up on better life. What if what they want is out there somewhere? Maybe they can fight for it, and be halfway to getting it. She says that things can seem hopeless, and suddenly someone gives them inspiration. Lucinda wishes at the well, and Henry starts to write – Once upon a time. Roni continues that the first step to a new beginning is imagining the impossible. She’ll be damned if she stands by and let’s a bully take that away from them anymore. Victoria says that she’ll regret it, but Roni says regret isn’t her thing. She slugs back a shot, and smiles.

Next time, Emma makes an appearance.

Z Nation

In Zona, everything is Stepford perfect. Until a guy drives right into a pedestrian, killing him. Several people get out of the car and gather around the body. One woman hangs back, and we hear eating noises. She slowly backs away.

Teller, Murphy, and Roberta walk down the street. Teller says it’s their duty to get Murphy out; things are changing. It’s no longer safe, and they’ve progressed to the point that measures need to be taken. A guy from the neighborhood tries to get Murphy to join a lawn game, but Teller steers him away. He tells them that it will all make sense eventually. Murphy is disappointed to be missing lawn bowling, and Roberta says that she liked him better before.

Soldiers arrive at a safe house in the middle of the woods with Lucy. They shove her into a cabin. One soldier tells another to get a scope on the vehicles. The convoy is close by.

At the camp, Sarge, otherwise known as Henry Rollins, says that the convoy is overdue, and they haven’t changed their objective or timeframe. One guy says they’re wasting resources, and are sitting zombie bait. Sarge wants to be proactive and find a solution. The convoy has munitions and supplies; without it, they’re at a disadvantage. He asks for a volunteer to come with them, and Doc and 10K say they will. Doc says they got nothin’ else to do.

In a warehouse hallway, Murphy wants to take a moment. He’s not too sure that leaving a life of limbo parties and martinis to go back into the zombie nightmare is a good idea. Teller says that Zona isn’t going to be what he knows for much longer. Roberta asks Teller what’s really going on. He tells her that there’s a helicopter leaving, and if they’re not on it, they won’t survive. Roberta asks with the hell, and he says that everyone who got the new vaccine is going crazy. There must have been something else in the blood. Murphy starts to hyperventilate, saying it must be mistake. He hasn’t had it this good since – he’s interrupted by a golf ball pinging through the hallway.

Mr. Spears, in a shirt, tie, and boxers with puppies on them, is playing golf. He greets Murphy, and complains that because Murphy missed the tourney, he had to partner with Beardsley, and he’s the worst croquet player. There’s a dead body next to him, and Murphy says he sees Spears has moved on. Spears starts to cry and repeat himself. He looks at them maniacally, and lifts his golf club. He runs past them, after another guy. Teller asks if they believe him now.

Sarge’s group finds the convoy. They get out of their truck, and canvas the area. The trucks are there, still full of supplies and ammo, but the people have vanished. I notice that Henry Rollins is getting old, then think, that makes me old. Dammit. 10K says it makes no sense. Sarge tells them they need to get the vehicles back to camp. Czarnecki gets shot by a sniper. 10K bellycrawls under a truck, and sees the cabin. He thinks he has him. Sarge asks Czarnecki if he can stand, but that’s a negative. He’s bleeding out.

Doc radios Red back at camp. He tells her that the convoy is gone. She asks for the coordinates, but only hears static. 10K tells her to stay put. She tells the previously worried guy that everything is fine. She finds Dr. Sun in the infirmary, and tells her that the group is under attack, but they got cut off. The vehicles had been abandoned. Sun tells her they can’t let the people lose hope.

Teller tells Murphy and Roberta that they need uniforms. Murphy doesn’t think this is the time to be concerned about fashion, but Teller says they’re only taking a few. If they don’t dress like military, the won’t be able to get on the helicopter. On the landing above, a woman chases a man with a meat cleaver. Teller says that it starts with mild dementia, and goes to homicidal psychosis. Murphy is like, that’s a jump, no in-between? Teller says that the blood contained contaminants, and within 72-hours, predatory madness sets in. Roberta asks if they’re infected, and he says they were the only two who didn’t receive it. Murphy is Murphy, and she was in a coma. She asks what about him, and he says let’s go. Now that she mentioned it, he doesn’t look so good.

While they’re getting uniforms, Murphy opens a freezer where there are bodies wrapped in plastic. He says these are his people; his blends. Teller says they’re the lucky ones. He tells them that they’re running out of time.

Czarnecki is losing consciousness. Lily wants to get him, but Sarge says he can’t afford to lose two. 10K says there’s one soldier shooting, but he saw movement; they’re not alone. In the cabin, Lucy and Addie duck down behind a table. Doc tells 10K to turn the cabin into Swiss cheese.

Sun tells Red that everything will be okay. Red says it’s hard to sit still, knowing what she knows. Sun tells her that hope is contagious, and so is the opposite. Red says that Doc told her the people disappeared, like no one was there. Sun says there’s nothing worse than not knowing. Red goes outside and tries to radio Doc. She sees something in the distance, and gets a really frightened look. Like really frightened.

Murphy sees a guy peeing in the hallway, and says that’s unpleasant. He, Teller, and Roberta come up behind two guards and attack them. Roberta gets slammed up against a wall, and she flashes to the acid rain wasteland in her mind. She smashes the guard in the head with a fire extinguisher. Teller gives them uniforms.

Sarge thinks Czarnecki has suffered enough. 10K gets a bead on him, but a bullet from the cabin hits the car he’s under. He fires back, and gets the sniper right between the eyes. One of the soldiers tells Addie to kill him or they’ll kill her. She goes to the gun, and communicates with Lucy. Both she and 10K look through their gun sights. I realize my mouth is open. They both shoot at the same time. The bullets meet each other perfectly in slow motion, melding into one another, and it’s awesome.

Teller, Roberta, and Murphy go to the Founder’s house. Someone is being eaten on the lawn. Roberta asks if it’s a zombie, but Teller says he doesn’t know. It could be something else, but he doesn’t know what. They have to get through the residence to get to the helipad. The Founder is sitting in the living room with two women, and asks what they need. Teller says to get to the stairwell. He explains that more men are needed, and he didn’t want to burden him with what’s happening. Things have taken a turn. The Founder says that he’s aware of the spreading of misinformation; it’s insidious and has to stop. Teller thinks he knows what’s happening, but doesn’t get the bigger picture, which makes him the most dangerous man on earth. He babbles about the most ignorant ten percent believing they have comparable knowledge to those around them, and don’t understand that they don’t know. Teller says they have to get on the helicopter.

Murphy takes off his helmet and steps forward. The Founder says he missed him at Bridge, and asks what brings him there. Murphy says a chopper ride, and the Founder says that he loves chopper rides. He’s concerned with Murphy missing the talent show, but Murphy says that’s not for a few weeks. The Founder remembers a previous show where they accidentally lit someone on fire, and says it was the most fun he ever had. This probably doesn’t come across as amusing as it actually was. The exchange sounded like actors doing improv while high.

The founder takes in some oxygen from his portable tank with the skull mask. He has big plans for Murphy, and wants him by his side at all times. Murphy wants to be there right, but now he has to go. The Founder says that he has no idea of what’s in store; the glorious things. In time, all be known, but first, the reset. Murphy backs away. The three go to the helipad.

The shooting continues at the cabin. Sarge says that they have to mercy Czarnecki, and asks Lily if she has a clean shot. On the count of three, the others shoot at the cabin. Lily hesitates, but shoots Czarnecki in the head. I say the eff word – he turned anyway. Doc is like, wtf? and Czarnecki goes crazy. 10K shoots him, and he ricochets toward the cabin. Doc and Addie both say, wth? at the same time, and Addie shoots him, and he reverses direction again. He’s like a pinball, bouncing back and forth. Addie sees that it’s 10K under the truck, and her cheek gets grazed by a bullet. Lucy runs to her. Czarnecki is still nuts, and Sarge tells the rest to fall back. Get in the truck and jet.

Addie tells Lucy to go, but she says no. Addie says that she’ll find her. Get to Newmerica. Lucy slams a soldier into the wall and runs, but she gets pulled back in. Addie fights off another guy, and pushes her thumbs into his eyeballs. Man, she is pissed. A soldier throws Lucy in the back seat of a truck. Addie feels Lucy leaving, and mentally tells her to find the others, not realizing she’s been kidnapped.

Sun wakes up and looks around. It’s quiet. She goes outside, and the camp is empty. I say wtf? out loud. She walks around the camp, but there’s no one anywhere. If there were tumbleweeds, they’d be blowing through. She looks in the tents, but nothing. An opening has been torn in the fence and she goes through it

Teller orders the elevator to go to the helipad. He says that Roberta seemed like she was somewhere else, something is triggering her visions, and interrupting her reality. He says it’s common. Murphy wonders what they’re doing – it’s the apocalypse for God’s sake. Teller says that his daughter is alive. The population has been depleted, but there’s a small group of survivors. Military personnel have set up a refugee camp. He gives them some directions, saying the helicopter will take them to the mainland. After that, they’re on their own. He’s staying behind. He tells Roberta not to ignore her visions; the unconscious is a powerful thing. He starts getting sick. Roberta asks if he took the vaccine, but he tells her to get going. Too late. He grabs Roberta, who  sees the wasteland.

She and Teller scuffle, in both real life and in her vision. Where’s Murphy? There he is. He shoots Teller in the back of the head while they’re struggling. Roberta says they gotta move.

Sarge gets back to camp. They come in at the ready. Doc says where the hell is everyone? 10K calls for Red. Doc says they’re gone. Lily says just like convoy. 10K runs out of the fence opening, and Doc yells after him.

Murphy and Roberta get in the helicopter. He asks if she believes Teller. He can’t feel Lucy. Roberta says she believes him. The helicopter takes off.

Addie picks up her spiky club, and continues through the forest. Barely.

Next time, a black rainbow, going east, and welcome back to the apocalypse.

👻  Ghost Wars looks promising. Meat Loaf is in the cast. I belonged to Meat Loaf’s fan club for a while, and got to go to a taping of a special he did for VH1 when Welcome to the Neighborhood was released. It was a lot of fun, but I learned never to wear black when you’re going to be in a crowd on TV. You will never be able to see yourself. I also met him once at a signing for the same CD. That wasn’t quite as glorious. He was gracious enough to agree to a photo, and my husband couldn’t seem to work the camera, despite Meat Loaf giving him instructions. I was mortified. He did put “love” before his autograph though.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Nathan and Maxie go to the station. The desk sergeant asks what he’s supposed to do with all the women who want to meet Man Landers. A woman comes out with baked goods, and tells Nathan that he’s God’s gift to women.

Jordan has to get to work. She tells Curtis that Aunt Stella will be home soon. He says that she’s out making life changes, and they have hours. They start to get busy, and Stella walks in.

Griff tells Ava that as soon as he realized she went to the clinic, he knew it was partly his fault. He should never have danced on the line like that. She asks if he’s apologizing for rejecting her. He tells her that he wanted to apologize, but that’s not the only reason.

At the MetroCourt, Sonny asks Carly if she has a minute. She tells him that it depends on what he needs, and he tells her how beautiful she is. She says he’s trying to charm her, and it’s making her nervous. He tells her that it could be nothing, but it could be game changer. Either way, they’re about to find out.

Sonny tells Carly that Brick has an update about the phone call. Carly says maybe it was a wrong number. Sonny says it could be a coincidence, but she knows how he feels about those. He had Brick follow up and trace the call. Carly says she needs to consult Brick on another matter. Sonny asks what it is, but they’re interrupted by Josslyn and Oscar. Josslyn talks about a football game that they’d like to go to – without a bodyguard.

Griff says he cares a lot about Ava, and she says as he does any member of his flock. He tells her that he doesn’t have a flock, but he has her, and doesn’t want to lose their friendship. It may not be enough for her, but it’s honestly all he can say right now. She says it’s enough.

A table is piled with flowers, baskets, stuffed toys, and bakery items at the station. Maxie says that she came back to be with Nathan, and this is out of control. Nathan says he doesn’t want to worry about tweets and gifts, he wants to worry about bills and rent. He tells her that Jordan texted him that she’s coming in and wants to speak with him. He thinks that his days at station are over.

Stella has news she thinks they’ll both find interesting. She knows she’s been in the way, and Curtis is a sweetheart for taking her in, but it’s time to think about leaving. She’s recovered from her stroke, her blood pressure is in a healthy range – at least until she walked in on them. She says that Curtis needs his space, and she needs to be the independent woman she was in Baltimore. Curtis hopes he didn’t do something to make her go back, but she says she’s not moving back to Baltimore. She just landed a job. Port Charles is her new home.

Maxie tells Nathan that if she hadn’t ruined everything by dragging in Spinelli, Nathan would still be anonymous, and she’s be working at Crimson again. She wonders if they should both go back to Portland. Nathan says that Spinelli did blow everything up, but he’s the one who announced in a grand fashion that he’s Ask Man Landers. He couldn’t stand the thought of anyone thinking he’s cheating, especially Maxie, but it’s done. Maxie says they need to get all the stuff out of here, and he suggests taking it to the hospital.

Stella says that she saw Felix at church, and he told her that one of the GH social workers was retiring. They offered her the position, and now she’s officially part of the GH team. Curtis says she did it right under his nose, and she should have gone into business with him. She asks where he thinks he got his skills from? She can be close to both of her man, and hopes that maybe she and TJ can make up for lost time. Curtis congratulates her. Stella says soon she can move out, and they can carry on like Adam and Eve at all hours of the day and night. Jordan says that’s her cue, and jets.

Josslyn tells Carly and Sonny that it’s an important game. The stands will be packed, and they want to sit with their friends. Oscar says there will be plenty of security. Carly says the bodyguard can sit a few rows behind. Josslyn is like, great, the bleachers will be filled with screaming fans, and one guy in a suit staring at her; no one will notice. Sonny understands where she’s coming from, but tells her that it’s a fact of life right now. It’s like seatbelts. You might never need them, but if there’s an accident, they can save her life. Josslyn says no one is coming after her. Sonny says it’s a million to one shot, but he can eliminate the one. Oscar says that Sonny is right. He would never want anything to happen to her.

Griff asks Ava if he was right, and that’s the reason she went to the clinic? Ava says at first. His interest gave her hope that she could be the woman she once was, and when he rejected her, she became fixated on getting her face back. She knows now that even if it was completely restored, she can’t be who she once was. Maybe it’s a good thing. Healing her face isn’t the same as healing herself. She wants to be held and loved, but her insides were mangled up, and need to be healed too. Griff says that she risked her life to save a stranger. Ava tells him that she blew any chance of restoration, but it’s okay; there’s nothing she can do now. This is the new her; take it or leave it. He tells her that what she did was selfless. Did she put herself in danger because she wanted to help someone or because she gave up and didn’t care what happened to her?

Carly wants to take a picture of Josslyn and Oscar. Josslyn objects, but Sonny says that you can’t stop her when she gets like this. She takes the picture, and asks if Oscar wants her to send a copy to his mom. Oscar says that if they don’t leave, they’re going to miss the kickoff. They leave, and Carly thinks that Oscar is afraid of telling his mom that he’s dating the stepdaughter of a local crime lord. Sonny days that he thought she didn’t want Josslyn dating. She doesn’t, but if she’s going to, she wants Josslyn to date Oscar. She shows Sonny the picture.

Ava tells Griff that she wasn’t being intentionally reckless. She was curious as to who this man was in glasses and a safety restraint mask. He showed signs of life, and she was intrigued. When she saw they were pumping him with enough drugs to down an elephant, she decided to help him. He wrote down a phone number, but then used the pen to try and escape, and she ended up giving the phone number to Dr. Kline. Later, she found Patient 6 handcuffed to a bed. He was using a paperclip to free himself, and dropped it. She gave it back to him, and that was the extent of her heroics. Griff says that she’s not only courageous, she’s awesome. She saved herself in saving someone else. He says it’s divine intervention that Patient 6 led him to the clinic after they met in a church. She asks how he knew where to start looking, and he tells her that Sonny helped him.

Brick flirts with Carly. Sonny tells him to quit it, but Brick says it’s one of the perks of the job. He tells Sonny that he has some information.

Ava is skeptical that Griff appealed to Sonny’s better nature, and Griff tells her that he was already dealing with phone call from St. Petersburg. She says that the number Patient 6 gave her had a Port Charles area code. She wonders why he’d have Sonny’s number, and who he is to Sonny

Nathan loads Maxie down with stuffed toys. She says these women are out of control, and she’s never been this close to an internet sensation. A million women can’t be wrong; he’s basically the perfect man. She’s off to the hospital, and Jordan tells Nathan that she needs to speak privately with him.

Brick traced the call to a cell phone paid through a Swiss bank. The calls from it have been made to private lines of rich people. Carly says that doesn’t make sense, but Sonny says it does if the call came from Ava.

Ava says that she can only assume that Kline called Sonny, but Griff thinks the whole thing is improbable. She asks when he saw Sonny, and figures it to be around when Kline got the number. Griff tells her that he thought it was her calling, and assumed she was working with his enemies. It was a happy accident. Sonny was in the process of turning him down, but Griff thought she might be reaching out for help. Ava says that she was under the impression that Patient 6 thought the person would come and get him no matter what. Like Griff got Ava.

Josslyn and Oscar have coffee at Perks. She tells him she’s sorry that she dragged him away from the game, but she doesn’t really like football that much. Oscar says that he doesn’t either. Josslyn notes that Devon the bodyguard is still watching, and wishes her parents wouldn’t stress all the time. She tells Oscar that it’s the one thing Sonny and her father agree on. Her father calls it a necessary evil, and checks in every day with her. Oscar looks sad, and she asks if he misses having a dad. He says that you can’t miss something you never had. He knows nothing about his dad, even his name. His mom gets weird when he asks questions, so he doesn’t want to press the issue. Josslyn asks if he wouldn’t like to know who his father is.

Stella breaks out a bottle of liquor to celebrate. Curtis thinks it’s cool that she’ll have a built-in community at the hospital, and she’s already making friends. She says he must hope that she’ll be busy enough to stop interfering. He says there’s that, but thinks it’s healthy that she’s going on with her life. She’s a beautiful, vibrant woman, and he hopes she finds a boyfriend or a new group of friends. Stella repeats that then she’ll be busy enough to stop interfering. Curtis laughs, and says well, yeah, now that she mentions it, but seriously, what’s wrong with finding a nice guy to appreciate the phenomenal woman she is? He toasts to her being phenomenal, and she says that’s nice, but it’s not happening. She already met the great love of her life, Marcus, and there will never be another for her.

Nathan apologizes for not being upfront about the blog. He had no idea how it would blow up, but promises to protect and serve to the best of his ability. Jordan says that she was surprised, and wishes he’d said something before it became a PR event, but that being said, he’s one of her best detectives. If he can assure her that his Man Landers activities won’t interfere with his job, that’s all she wants. He can relax now; she’s not firing him. He asks why she called him, and she says she needs his advice. She has a problem with her boyfriend’s aunt, and needs help fixing it.

Amy meets Maxie, and tells her how thrilled the kids at the hospital were. Maxie is happy to know that the Man Landers swag went to a worthy cause. Amy asks Maxie how she’s doing with all the publicity, and Maxie says it’s an adjustment. They both look on their phones at the tweets, and Maxie says he’s reaching superstar status. She asks if Amy has a problem with Nathan being famous, and Amy says that’s not what it was about for her. Now she can get Chet the best care, and a quality of life she didn’t think was possible, all because of Maxie’s generous husband. Maxie says she told Nathan how proud she is of him. Amy says it must be a change to see Nathan getting attention, when she shined in high school, like they just graduated five minutes ago. Maxie says she was an outcast because of her heart, but Amy disagrees. Maxie says she struggled to be perfect, when there were people just waiting for her to blow it. She dreaded every pimple and bad hair day, but Amy says she succeeded. She was the cheer captain and head of the popular group. Now that Nathan is getting attention, she can’t stand it.

Jordan explains to Nathan about Stella not being able to back off. He asks if she has someone to love, and Jordan tells him a long time ago, but she set that aside to raise Curtis and Tommy. Nathan says that maybe she’s grieving her sacrifice or she’s afraid to love again. He doesn’t know her, but feels sorry for her.

Curtis tells Stella that he’s eternally grateful. Stella says she’s not looking for gratitude. She only told him about Marcus so that he’d know that no man could measure up to him. Curtis asks if she’s talked to him since then, and she says no. He says that when people aren’t around, we tend to elevate their status, and only remember the good. Stella says that had his faults, but that doesn’t change how she feels. Curtis hopes that she’ll be open to dating again. She says, so she can stop meddling? He says no, so she can get her groove back. Aw, that made me smile.

Oscar tells Josslyn that it’s weird knowing someone is out there who made him, but doesn’t know him; someone who gave him his genetic code, including the gene that makes him want to hang out with her. Josslyn asks if he doesn’t want to know who gave him such great taste. He tells her that he doesn’t want to bother his mom, so it’s impossible. Josslyn says nothing is impossible. I hum the Impossible song from Cinderella.

Sonny talks about Ava being in the clinic, and Brick says that the call could have come from a clinic. Carly wonders how Ava would have gotten the number. Sonny tells her that he picked up, but she didn’t say anything. They agree that the mystery is solved, and Carly tells Brick that she has a job which requires his expertise.

Ava tells Griff that he should be proud of standing up to Sonny as a man. She asks if he ever thinks of himself that way, rather than a priest. Griff tells her that she needs to rest, and he’ll text Kiki when they land. Ava thanks him.

Carly wants Brick to do a full background check and surveillance on Nelle. Sonny tells her to let Michael handle it. They know she’s bad news, but let him figure it out for himself, and stop pushing. Carly says they’ll wait for now. Brick says he’s always there for her, and she hugs him. He says anything for a lovely lady, and Sony tells him to stop. Brick says that he knows Sonny likes it. Genuine smiles all around.

Maxie tells Amy that she doesn’t resent the attention, and she’s thrilled with Nathan’s success. Amy says that she has to find a way to deal; go back to work and raise her own self-esteem. Let Nathan’s fifteen minutes of fame ride itself out. She tells Maxie not to do anything impetuous, or she’ll defeat anything he’s trying to do.

Jordan thanks Nathan. She says now she has compassion for a woman who hates her. Nathan hopes that Stella finds love again, and leaves Jordan’s alone. Jordan says clearly, she finds all of his services valuable.

Sonny asks how mad Carly is, but she says that she knew in her heart that he’s right. Michael has to discover that Nelle is bad on his own. Sonny says he’s caring, but not a pushover. Carly says it would be nice to have a dossier ready, and Sonny accuses her of being obsessed over the kids. He wonders if she’s going to have surveillance on Oscar next. Don’t give her ideas, Sonny.

Oscar asks Josslyn, what if his dad doesn’t want to know him, or he’s pissed because his mom got pregnant, or has another family, or what if they meet and he doesn’t like Oscar? Josslyn says whoever he is, he’s lucky to have a son like him. Oscar guesses they’ll never know, and Josslyn asks what if they could find him? Would he want to?

Carly says that Sonny is right. She’s holding on too tight, and it’s embarrassing. She used to encourage her kids to be independent. He says that after losing Morgan, she wants to keep them safe, and he feels the same way. Carly says she can’t believe that Ava called him, and that she’s using Avery as a way in. She thinks that when time passes, they’ll reach an acceptance and forget what she did to Morgan, but she’s wrong. Wow. They got all this from a call coming from a number no one knows, where no one said anything.

On the plane, Griff watches Ava sleep. He brushes her hair back. She opens her eyes, and says she was dreaming about her girls. She can’t wait to see them. Griff says they’ll be proud of their mom. She tells him that some of his goodness rubbed off on her. She puts her head on his shoulder.

Tomorrow, Ava tells Griff their business is concluded, Nina asks Valentin when he was going to tell her about Laura, and Sonny asks who the hell Patient 6 is.

😵 On Flipping Out, Jeff went from Versailles with Best Western bathrooms to helping gut his dad’s condo. Jenni said that Jeff was the Karate Kid to his father’s Mr. Miyagi. The big topic of the night was nanny Gema, who was starting to not work out. She wanted to cut her hours, claiming that baby Monroe was a handful, which we knew, and rated her an eleven on a scale of one to ten in difficulty. Jeff agreed that Monroe was too much for them to handle, and she’d be going to boarding school. House manager Nancy told Jeff that Gema complained about Zoyla watching her and telling her what to do. He thought that Zoyla was just being protective, and Gage said that she was probably being nosy; it’s her job. Gage discovered that the camera was being blocked, and Gema was being vague in answering questions. This was an obvious no, so she was let go. Afterward, Jeff received a text from Gema. She said now that she could speak freely, she wanted him to know that Zoyla had been using her against Jeff and Gage. The episode is to be continued, but that didn’t explain why the nanny was blocking the camera. Unless it was Zoyla trying to set her up. I guess we’ll find out next week.

💍 My head is going to explode with 90-Day Fiance. TLC has been showing so many repeat episodes from various seasons, it’s like my TV has been holding a 90 Day convention. Sometimes it’s fun to come late to the game, since there’s a lot you haven’t seen, and everything old is new to you. I can’t tear my eyes away from the original show, The Couples Tell All, and my favorite, Before the 90 Days, in the wee hours of the morning. And there are new episodes on Sundays (just what I needed, another Sunday night must watch). I don’t know whether to laugh or cry that I’m transfixed by these mostly miserable people nearly all night long. Which is why I need sleep, so I’ll be talking about this on the morrow. Let it suffice to say that on the latest episode of Before the 90 Days, Paul totally shocked me by not being just the nerdy hypochondriac that we thought, but a criminal with very serious mental issues. I felt badly for Karine before, when I thought she’d just be disappointed, but he actually put her in danger. From a guy with a machete. Not a good look. Not at all.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

In Monaco (which I keep getting mixed up with Morocco), Anna and Finn sit at the café. He tells her that he’s ordering the most expensive entrée. She still seems to think they’re on a mission, and he says Cassandra told him that she never leaves Monte Carlo. Anna says she told him that before. He asks if Anna has a plan B.

Valentin says that he and Cassandra haven’t spoken in years, and now she wants a medical reference? She tells him that Finn saved her life. Valentin wonders what Finn is doing in Monte Carlo, and Cassandra says he’s on holiday. She reminds Valentin about how well they worked together – and played. She says she has some matters of mutual interest, but he tells her they have nothing of mutual interest, and says good-by,

Laura checks that the chamber of a gun, and puts it in her purse. She knocks on Valentin’s door, and asks to come in.

In Russia, Ava paces alone in her room. Griff knocks on her door. He tells her that Dr. Kline is in the next room, and should be out for hours. She asked how he found her, and he says he met a man at a church.

Patient 6 tells the priest that he has money and can get a train ticket, but the priest says that’s no good without papers. He thinks he has another way though.

Laura wants to know what happened to Ava. Valentin tells her that he Ava a clinic referral. Laura says that he took advantage of a vulnerable woman who is suffering from disfigurement. He says he’s forgotten more about pain and disfigurement than Laura can hope to know. Laura says that he used his knowledge against Ava to manipulate her. He’s wondering where this is coming from, since he and Lulu agreed to compromise for Charlotte’s sake. Laura says he murdered her son, and left Spencer fatherless. Now it’s time she got her revenge. She pulls out the gun.

Cassandra sits on the terrace, and her butler/companion pours her some wine. She tells him to skip the charade, and get his glass. She tells him that it’s a shame Dr. Finn can’t treat her there. It’s not like she has to take a three-masted schooner, but the air vents on a ship carry germs.

Finn tells Anna that he’s been playing spy games against his better judgement, but he’s been trying his best to hold up his end. Anna says they’re in Monte Carlo. She knows it’s a strange way of showing gratitude for him saving her life, but they’re on a adventure. Finn says what he needed was to be left in peace. He misses Roxie, who is the closest thing he has to friend. He asks if she has someone like that or is it verboten in her world? She says it’s not verboten, but it’s risky; attachments show your vulnerabilities, and enemies will eventually exploit them. Sooner or later, dedication to duty leads to disappointment. Finn says he gets it. Anna’s phone rings. She looks at it, and says, aww.

Griff tells Ava that it’s all clear. Ava says he arrived in the nick of time. If she didn’t believe in miracles before, she does now. He asks what they were going to do, and she says punish her for helping a patient escape. He describes Patient 6, and tells her that’s the guy who told him where to find her. She asks if he’s all right. Griff tells her as far as he knows, and asks if she has her passport. She tells him it’s locked up, and he asks if this will help, showing her some keys he took from Kline. Ava says that she’s impressed, and maybe there’s hope for him yet. Ava takes the keys, and goes down the hall.

The priest introduces a man named Baska to Patient 6, and says that his ship goes to America. He’s agreed to get Patient 6 home. Patient 6 tries to give Baska the money, but the priest tells him no; to help a stranger is pleasing to God. He tries to give it to the priest but he won’t take it either. Someone bangs on the door, and shouts open up.

Valentin tells Laura that she’s got his attention. She tells him that he’s going to fix this Ava thing, but he says that he couldn’t if he wanted to; it’s out of his control, and Ava is out of the country. Laura says he can get her to come back. It’s not like he hasn’t kidnapped someone before. He tells her that she has to face the facts; the civil suit is dead in the water. Laura tells him that they’re going ahead with it, with or without Ava’s help. Valentin says his lawyers will bury them. They can’t even prove Nikolas is dead, and will put Spencer through tribulation that he doesn’t need. Laura says that Nikolas is dead, and Valentin killed him, cruelly and deliberately. Now he thinks that he’s home free, but think again. She asks if this is how if felt, holding the gun on her son. She cocks it, and says now she knows what it’s like to be in his shoes, and he knows what it was like to be in Nikolas’s.

Anna tells Finn that it’s a message from Robin. He asks if she’s one of those attachments that an enemy can use against you. Anna says all her life; most recently when Olivia-J almost blew her up. She came so close to losing her, but Robin recently had a second child who just went to his well baby checkup. He was named after his grandfathers – Noah Robert. They call him Noah, but he takes after Robert. Anna explains that she hadn’t told Robert she was pregnant with Robin, and gave her to a good friend to raise. Not a day goes by when she doesn’t regret it, but she had to keep her in hiding for six years. She saw Robin, but as friend; she but couldn’t be her mother. When she was finally able to take her, Anna became a mom with a vengeance. Now Robin is a mother, and she has a second chance to make up for lost time. Finn says that you can’t make up for abandoning the people you love. Ouch.

Ava comes back with her wallet, passport, and phone. Griff tells her to skip the packing. She can replace her stuff; just leave it. She asks if they’re making a run for it. Griff says yes, but she tells him no.

At the church, one of the men at the door says that they’re searching for an escaped mental patient. Patient 6 tells Baska and the priest to get out. He’s going to stop them. If he doesn’t do something, they could tear the place apart, and take it out on them. The priest says he can’t be allowed to fight in the house of God.

Laura pulls the trigger, but nothing happens. Valentin starts to stutter, saying that she’s lucky. She tells him that she came close to putting bullets in the gun. He says that it’s a mistake to level a gun at someone unless it’s in self-defense. She says it was worth it to give him the experience. He’s not invincible; he’s vulnerable. Valentin says that he didn’t claim to be invincible. Laura asks that when he thought his life was over, what god did he pray to, or does he even pray at all?

Anna says that Finn has no idea how hard it was. Finn says that somehow, she found the strength to abandon her child. She says she had no choice. Finn says to be good at her job, she had to desert her daughter, and didn’t even tell the father. She had no right to run away with their child from the man who loved her. Anna says this is about Hayden, and Finn gets up and walks out.

Ava tells Griff that she has the expertise to get away with a crime, and make it look like no crime took place. Griff wonders if they’re just going to walk out, and she says, exactly. They’re going to asks the front desk to call for a car, and walk out calmly. Griff wonders what happens if Kline wakes up, but Ava says he just told her Kline will be out for hours. Griff got into the clinic using his medical credentials, saying he was consulting with a patient. Ava says the result of the consultation is her checking out, and leaving with her personal physician. His way will get them caught; her way gives them a 30% chance of success. The walk to the elevator, carrying her bags.

The priest tells Patient 6 that God has helped him, and not to repay that with violence. He tells Patient 6 to go now. Patient 6 thanks the priest, and leaves with Baska. The priest opens the door, and tells the two men that all are welcome. They tell him that they’re looking for a dangerous American man. There had been another American here who lied and said he wasn’t there. The priest says no one is there except him. The men look around, but Patient 6 is gone.

Anna follows Finn outside. He says he told her that he wasn’t Bond material. She says he’s doing just fine. He says part of him is thinking that if Hayden hadn’t run, he could have saved the baby. Anna says this will sound hypocritical, but sometimes you have to accept things aren’t in your control. Finn tells her she’s just saying that because she thinks she still needs him. He says he’ll play nice with Cassandra. He has nowhere else to go, and nothing better to do.

Cassandra wants to know more about Finn’s traveling companion; he never even mentioned her name. Her butler says they could be friends, but she tells him that platonic friendships between men and women are like unicorns; you hear about them, but never see one. Her butler points out that he’s her friend, but she says he’s a well-paid one. She wonders if the Finn has a lack of involvement or a secret. Her butler asks why she’s even interested, and she says she’s never passed up the chance to possibly be cured. He asks if that’s all. Madam has been known to mix business with pleasure. She says this time it’s different.

Valentin tells Laura that he doesn’t pray to anyone for anything. If his life flashes before his eyes, he’ll be faced with powerful regrets. Laura asks if he regrets killing her son. He says he regrets the whole incident on Cassadine Island. If he had known his father left him everything, he could have just ousted Nikolas, since he was disinherited. Laura calls him a bastard. He says she uses that as an insult, but it’s the truth in his case. She tells him Nina will eventually figure him out, and Charlotte will too. Valentin says that Nina has already had that chance, and they should try to get along for Charlotte’s sake. He and Lulu came to an agreement. Laura says that he forced her to agree. Valentin asks if, when she was holding the gun, she ever thought about the technology he might have. A video could have serious consequences. She says he’s bluffing, and he says not to count on it if she does it again. He tells her not to disrupt the agreement, or he’ll win, and she and her daughter will lose.

Griff and Ava are on a plane. Ava wonders if she’s dreaming. Griff pours her a drink, and she tells him he shouldn’t be encouraging her vices. He tells her that she deserves it. She can’t believe they did it. He reminds her of the 30% chance she said they had, and she says that she was lying. He says that she stayed icy calm, and asks if she wasn’t frightened. She says that she was scared to death. He tells her that there’s nothing to be afraid of now. Just sleep, and he’ll wake her up at JFK. An announcement comes over the intercom that they’re being detained at the gate for a security issue.

Laura puts away her gun. She says one more thing. She wants Valentin to know about his family. His stepmother put a curse on her once. He says that sounds like Helena, but he doesn’t believe in curses. She says that you don’t need to believe for them to work. He asks how it manifested itself, and she says that just knowing Helena had a vendetta was enough. She and her family were tortured for decades. Valentin says it’s best that she’s gone then. Laura tells him that when Helena died, she thought the curse was broken, but still waited for a black cloud. Then there he is. He tells her that like prophecies and sorcery, the only power curses have is what you give them. Laura says that you don’t have to believe in the supernatural to understand evil.

Here’s where I curse the world out, because we get interrupted to go to Las Vegas, where POTUS is speaking. He talks for a few minutes – after four o’clock. Thanks, ABC! But all is not lost. Thanks for real, YouTube!

Laura tells Valentin that evil is a sickness of the heart, which manifests itself by what you put out in the world. Valentin doesn’t believe in karma, but she says that it works whether you believe it or not. He’ll never know peace of mind, and will be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life, wondering when the past is going to catch up with him. She walks out, and he closes the door.

Anna tells Finn she’s sorry. She was insensitive, talking about her family and knowing how he feels. He knows it was heartbreaking, but she did what she thought was best. She tells him they can apologize for every regret they’ve ever had, or quit while they’re ahead. Maybe they should call it a night. Finn asks where the fun is in that, and tells her that she was right. She asks what he has in mind.

The stewardess announces that the security issue was resolved, and they’ll be pushing back from the gate shortly. Ava pours another drink, and says she missed this. She tells Griff that even underground medical facilities don’t serve alcohol. Not to patients anyway. Neither do planes while you’re still on the ground, but we’ll let that pass. Ava tells him about the people looking away from her, and Griff asks her if she’s ready to tell him what happened.

Baska leads Patient 6 to a cargo room in the ship. He tells Patient 6 to be careful, and stay out of sight. Patient 6 asks where they’re headed, and Baska tells him, New York.

Valentin thinks about manipulating Ava to recant her statement. His phone rings. It’s Cassandra. He tells her they have nothing further to discuss, and she says that she’s never known him to dismiss something when so blindly uninformed. He wants to leave the past where it is, and she says they’ll test that when she sees him. She’s decided to seek treatment with Finn, and is coming to Port Charles.

Ava tells Griff that she’d rather not relive it right now. She says the more they talk about her, the more he’s avoiding her question. Why did he come to find her?

A man grabs Patient 6 from behind, and they start to fight.

This episode was dedicated to the late technical director, Averill Perry.

Tomorrow, Stella has news, Griff says an apology isn’t the only reason he came to find Ava, and Josslyn asks Oscar if he wants to know who his father is.

In her interview, Melissa tells us that Joe and Teresa took turns sleeping in the hospital, and their mother never spent a night alone. Siggy wants to take everyone on a vacation to Boca Raton.

Siggy goes to a spa where she’s giving a lecture. Since her book took off, she gives speeches for anyone who wants to be inspired. Women start arriving, and wine is poured. She introduces us to new friend Jody, and Margaret who has joined the cast. Siggy’s philosophy is to know your worth. She says a lot of brilliant people have been rejected, and a man’s rejection is God’s protection. After she does her talk, she signs autographs.

Dolores packs for Boca. She’s glad Frank and Frankie will be home together for the first time in ages. Teresa gives instructions to Gia, who yawns in response. Melissa realizes that she and Joe #2 have never been apart for her birthday, but says he’s hot when he’s Mr. Mom.

Siggy tells us that Boca is her second home. She lived there ten years after college, and her children were born there. They have three ocean-view suites. The ladies arrive at the hotel, and the rooms are more modern than I like, but beautiful, and the views are fabulous. Teresa hasn’t been on vacation in years. She’s still on probation, but feels like things are getting back to normal. Siggy says tonight they’re going to her favorite restaurant, and Margaret is going with them.

Margaret calls herself a powerhouse in pigtails. She says her lifestyle line is like Lilly Pulitzer on crack, and she runs her business out of her home. She tells us that makes it tough to cuddle with her husband in the morning. Leaving her first husband was a huge scandal in her town, but she says too bad, take her as she is.  She introduces her pig-tailed self to the girls, and they head out for dinner.

Melissa is proud of herself for sending Joe #2 a nudie pic; her first ever. Siggy comes into the restaurant, hollering greetings to everyone. In her interview, Melissa says that if she and Teresa could have hidden under the table, they would have. Siggy yells that it’s her favorite restaurant in the world. She says that when you live somewhere for a long time, you know everyone. She loves everyone there, and they love her. She works the room, and the others order wine. Siggy shouts for the best champagne. Margaret thinks she needs to tone it down a notch, and tells the girls about her business.

Siggy wants advice. She says that when she speaks to people, it makes her heart sing, but Michael doesn’t want he working as much as she does. We see a clip of him telling her to slow it down. She tells them that she’s down to two events a week. Margaret talks about leaving her first husband to run away with the contractor. Teresa says she likes keeping busy and working, but misses the partnership of her husband. She’s a hands-on mom, and thinks that if Joe #1 hadn’t been a dumbass, she’d have help now. She doesn’t say it exactly that way; I’m paraphrasing. It upsets her that she missed out on a year with her mother. Melissa says that Teresa never shows anger about it, and to hear her say it out loud is like, wow. Teresa says he’d better be a changed person when he comes back. In her interview, Dolores says that Teresa claimed she’d never leave Joe, but that was before her mom passed away.

The next morning, Joe #2 FaceTimes with Melissa. He talks about how the pictures she sent turned him on. She tells him that since it’s her birthday, now he has to send pictures to her, but she’ll just look at them and laugh. He asks about Teresa, and Melissa says she seems to be expressing herself for the first time. He suggests getting her drunk and having fun.

Dolores calls Frankie’s tutor, who doesn’t think he’s turned in his college applications on time. She says if she calls Frankie right now, she’ll make big mistakes as a mother. The tutor says she can appeal. Dolores says when she calms down, she’ll deal with it. She has to call Frank to pinch-hit, and wishes she’d been more on top of it.

Everyone gathers for brunch. The birthday girl arrives, and Danielle does too. She wants coffee and a bloody Mary at the same time. In her interview, she says, that’s right, bitches, I’m back. She never thought in a million years that she and Teresa would be vacationing together. They talk about Danielle’s housewarming, and we see clips. Melissa says it’s crazy, but she thinks Danielle is super cool and entertaining. Me too. She liked one of my tweets once, and I rarely tweet. Teresa says it was like picking up where they left off. She’s cautious, but wants to give it a chance. Danielle hopes it’s for real, and that it leads to an apology.

In her interview, Siggy wonders if she’s the only one who thinks Danielle is crazy and this could be a problem. Danielle brings up Kim D. A car registered to her was found with two burned bodies inside. I remember reading about this online. At first, Kim D. was worried that one of them was her son, but eventually hunted him down. Danielle has empathy, but hasn’t seen her since Kim set her up at the club to get her hair pulled. We flash back a million years ago to that. Melissa says if that’s the last time she saw Kim, congratulations. They call Kim a cockroach, and Siggy points out that she’s still friends with her. Melissa says even if Siggy kisses her ass, Kim will still backstab her. Siggy wonders what Melissa’s gripe has to do with her. She lets it pass because it’s Melissa’s birthday.

Joe #2 asks if the boys miss Melissa, and one of them says she’s mean. In his interview, he explains that she’s the bad cop. He tries to clean up a spill, and fails miserably.

In Boca, a boat is chartered and the girls go on a mini-cruise. Teresa calls home, and Milania misses her Nona. Teresa says her heart is with her family, even though she’s grateful to get away. Margaret feels badly for the girls, and says they shouldn’t have to suffer so much.

At dinner, Margaret tells the ladies about a spray that gives you a better orgasm. Teresa asks if she has any with her. A seafood tower arrives, along with shots. Melissa brings up her bachelorette party, and how Teresa told Joe #2 that she was dancing with all the guys. She demonstrates her dancing. Teresa says she felt terrible, and Melissa says that she and Joe didn’t talk for weeks. Teresa tells us that she used to be the troublemaker. Margaret asks if they think Siggy’s husband is being controlling, because he wants her to scale back. Siggy says God gave her a gift, and she’s the most talented person in the world. In her interview, Melissa wonders if she’s heard of Michael JacksonMadonna, or the guy who invented the light bulb. Siggy gets weepy about having to choose, and Margaret wonders why she has to. Teresa says if she’s passionate about it, why would he want to take it away?

Siggy had a beautiful cake made with a shoe on top, and the icing on the bottom layer matching the wallpaper at Envy. Teresa makes a toast, saying that Melissa is the sister she never had. Melissa brings up the dancing again, and she and Teresa throw cake at each other, culminating with Teresa throwing the whole thing at Melissa as she runs off yelling that it’s her birthday. No more for these two. Siggy says they’ll have to explain to the restaurant they’re from Jersey. She’s not too happy, saying that the cake was a work of art and it’s disrespectful. Margaret tells Siggy to take it down a notch again, and Siggy tells her to go screw herself.

We’re off to a good start.

This episode was dedicated to Antonia Gorga.

This season, yoga, muscles, another birthday celebration for Melissa, a trip to Milan, Joe #2 buys a restaurant, Siggy calls Danielle a crazy scumbag and argues with Margaret, Dolores and Teresa tangle, Kim D. makes an appearance, and Danielle flips out.

🎂 I couldn’t find the cake from this episode, but this one is almost as good…

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Valentin tells Nina that more than any other anniversary, he cherishes the night they met. Nina reminds him that he called it “manifestly,” and said her ex was a tool. She thanks him for helping her open her door, and he thanks her for letting him in. He gives her the sapphire necklace from the photo shoot as a gift.

Anna asks Finn if he’s ready. He says ready to hoodwink a hypochondriac? She tells him that it’s for a good cause, and he says it’s her cause. She says that Cassandra fences stolen items and uses the money for illegal dealings on the dark web. Finn says that could be anything, and perhaps Anna should hold off until she knows exactly what Cassandra is doing wrong. Anna tells him that this is the best chance they’re going to get, and he says it’s not about Cassandra; it’s about Valentin, and Anna is using him to find out how entrenched he is with Cassandra.

Dr. Kline tells Ava that he didn’t say anything about her going home. Ava asks if he changed his mind, and intends to finish her treatments. He says there will be no other treatments, and she asks what the point would be in her staying then? Kline says she’s saying that like she has a choice.

Jason answers his phone. Patient 6 is on the other end, and asks, who is this? Jason replies, who is this? and I laugh. They must have laughed too, when they read it the first time.

Nina tells Valentin that the necklace is gorgeous, and he says not as gorgeous as she is. She says it must have cost a fortune, unless… Valentin is like, I didn’t steal it, and she says just checking. He tells her that his history isn’t squeaky clean, but he wants to keep it clean now, and nothing he’s ever done will touch her or Charlotte. He puts the necklace on her. Nina feels badly that she didn’t get him anything. He says that she’s given him enough – her forgiveness, her outrageous sense of humor, and coming back to him. She says that she’s never leaving again.

Finn wants Anna to admit that this is just a means to an end, and it’s about Valentin. Anna says that motives should never be simplified, because people are complex. Valentin, for example, has a wife and daughter he loves, but he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. If he thinks it benefits Nina and Charlotte, he’ll go back into business. She’s not just upholding the law; she feels responsible for who Valentin is, and can’t really turn a blind eye. She’ll either bring them both down, or settle for Cassandra. Finn asks how Anna is responsible, but she tells him that it’s none of his business. Finn says so, he should just do what he’s told. Anna says it’s a shot at redemption, but he calls it blackmail. Anna gives Finn a gift box, and tells him to endear himself to Cassandra. It’s a special organic tea that boosts the immune system. Finn wonders if it will cause another allergic reaction, but she says it’s just tea.

Ava asks Kline if this is a joke. He tells her that she aided and abetted Patient 6’s escape. She says she only picked up a paperclip, and she’s seen him in action. He would have escaped with or without help. Kline tells her that Patient 6 is very dangerous, and now this is his problem thanks to her. Ava promises not to touch any more office supplies, but Kline isn’t having it. She threatens to call the embassy, and he asks with what? Her phone has been confiscated, and the address on the forms was false. They’re a very private clinic, and no one knows she’s there. In time, she’ll adjust. Ava elbows him good, but a guard is waiting just outside the door. Kline says she’s going to regret that.

Several men come into the church. Patient 6 ducks down behind something. They see Griff and asks if he’s seen a guy wearing medical scrubs. Griff tells them that he did, but he ran out as soon as Griff walked in. The men leave, and Patient 6 comes back out. He thanks Griff.

Jason looks at the phone. Sam comes back, and he tells her that there was a call, but he doesn’t know who it was. The number was local, but it’s not in her contacts. She takes the phone, and says let’s find out.

Ava gets shoved back into her room. Kline tells her that she doesn’t seem to grasp the severity of the situation. Patient 6 shouldn’t have been able to form a sentence, much less plan an escape. Ava says that Valentin Cassadine knows where she is, and sooner or later, he’s going to wonder what happened. Kline says he’ll come up with something, and she tells him good luck with that. She and Valentin are close. Why else would he have provided a reference for her? She tells Kline he might want to rethink his decision. He says that Valentin is the least of his problems, and he has to think about survival – his, not hers.

Valentin and Nina agree that one-night stands have a bad rep. Nina tells him he was the first, but it was the best sex she ever had. Not because it was a no-strings encounter. She tells him that she came from a buttoned-up Manhattan family, and was in a coma for twenty years, so it put a wrench in things. She says even though their first night was incredible, unbridled passion, but what they have now is better. Valentin agrees, but says she’s wrong about their first encounter being a one-night stand. He’s had a few, but there was something special. He knew right away his life would never be the same. They kiss.

Cassandra appreciates Finn coming by. They sit on her terrace, and Finn calls it a little Eden. Cassandra says she spends a lot of time there. He says he got the impression she doesn’t get out much, and she says that her energy level doesn’t allow it. She asks if he looked at her files, and he says yes, all three volumes. Cassandra asks if he thinks it’s all in her head, but Finn says just the opposite. He thinks he knows what’s wrong. Maybe it’s the love of a challenge, or maybe it’s because he’s been where she is – it wasn’t exactly the same, but he was very ill once, and didn’t know if he’d ever be cured. He tells her about having Blackwood’s Syndrome, and how he found a cure, but not in time to save his wife. She says he’s impressive and wonders why he didn’t say something sooner. He tells her that he didn’t want to give her his resume, but understands the frustration of feeling sick and thinking it will never end. She asks how she gets better. I’m wondering if she has fibromyalgia.

Sam tells Jason that it was Griff on the phone. She wonders if he butt dialed her. Jason says that he heard Griff say, “Look, I need to…” but then he hung up. Maybe he got interrupted, or decided to try someone else. Sam is concerned that GH might be trying to reach them, and decides to call the hospital.

Griff asks if Patient 6 wants to try again, but he says they could be tapping the phones by now. Griff wonders who “they” are, and asks Patient 6 to answer one question. He came to find a patient in a clinic there. Patient 6 gives him directions to the Baronski Clinic. Griff says that he can tell Patient 6 is in trouble (really? how did he figure that one out?), and asks if there’s anything he can do. Patient 6 tells Griff that he can handle it. Griff insists he take some money. They tell each other good luck.

Ava asks Kline if he’s going to kill her, but he says he’s a doctor, not a murderer. She says he only drugs patients within an inch of their lives. He tells her that the guard will be outside, and leaves. She screams after him if they can talk about this.

Finn tells Cassandra that he went over her case ten times. He can see why her symptoms were dismissed. She says she’s been in agony, and it’s even more distressing that no one has figured out what’s wrong. He says that it’s neurologically systemic, and almost impossible to pinpoint. If he’s correct, she could have a few ailments, which are treatable. She asks if he’s going to treat her, but he says no.

After calling the hospital, Sam tells Jason that Griff wasn’t there, but they had her test results and she’s fine. He asks where the smile is then. Sam says she’s been doing some thinking, and thinks she messed up. She’s been blatantly telling him that they need to live in a danger-free zone, and their old life can’t exist anymore. Jason agrees, but she wonders if he feels that way deep down. She says it used to be what made him tick, living with danger was like breathing. If he’s just doing this to make her happy, he’ll die inside, and she can’t have that.

The priest brings some clothing and shoes to Patient 6. Patient 6 wonders why the priest is helping him. He tells Patient 6 that he’s in God’s house, shoeless and alone, and the Lord tells us to give aid to those people. He asks if there’s anything else he can do, Patient 6 says he can’t ask for anything else. The priest says he’s in the house of God; it never hurts to ask. Patient 6 says that he needs to go home.

Cassandra wonders if Finn is clueless or cruel; he just said she was treatable. He tells her that she is, but he can’t treat her here. He’s not licensed to practice. She would have to come to the US, particularly Port Charles. He could run some tests in his state-of-the-art lab. Cassandra says that her business is based in Morocco, and she hasn’t been anywhere in years. Finn says there’s no way he can legally treat her there. He gives her his card in case she changes her mind, saying he’d like a crack at solving her problem.

Valentin and Nina bask in the afterglow. Nina says no more custody battles, and she’s looking forward to returning to the normal routine – at least normal for them. He tells her that he’s glad she’s Charlotte’s stepmother. She’s no stranger to adversity, and knows what it’s like to be shy and anxious. Nina asks what he thinks will make Charlotte tick? Will she be artsy, athletic, a bookworm, or boy crazy. He’s just glad Nina will be a part of it, and says he hopes it lasts. She asks why it wouldn’t, now that Ava is out of the picture. He tells her Ava was just one obstacle.

Ava tries the other door, but it’s locked. Kline comes in with a hypodermic needle. She says maybe they can work something out, but he says there’s nothing to work out; she’s inconvenienced the wrong person. She tells him that she’ll pay him anything. He says it’s out of his hands; he’s following orders.

Jason tells Sam that he almost died twice in five years. Sam says she noticed. He says they can’t live like that anymore. When he was in a coma for four weeks, he was hearing her cry and hearing his children’s voices, but couldn’t do anything about it. He doesn’t want to revisit that. Sam tells him that he doesn’t have to do it for her. He tells her that he made a mistake. The world moves on without you, and he tried to pick up where he left off, but sometimes you have to move on and mature. That life doesn’t fit anymore. Sonny will always be his friend, Sonny doesn’t own his life. The days of taking unnecessary risks are over.

Patient 6 tells the priest he can’t get into the details, but there are people after him and he needs to get home. He has no passport. Can he help? The priest asks how much time he has, but Patient 6 says not much. The priest tells him to wait. Maybe he has a way.

Finn returns to Anna at the café. He tells her about the beautiful view from Cassandra’s terrace, and says he doesn’t think they’ll see each other again. He explained that she’d have to come to Port Charles for treatment, and she wasn’t interested. Anna asks what she said, and Finn says she told him, “I’m not interested.” She said she has a business here, and hasn’t left in years. He gave Cassandra his card, but tells Anna not to hold her breath. She says they’ll see. The tea was bugged, and she’ll be able to hear within a three-room radius. Finn says she would if he’d given it to her, but he left it in the taxi. Anna tells him that he’s a terrible spy.

Valentin tells Nina that this is just a temporary cease fire. Lulu will stop at nothing to get Charlotte all to herself. Nina says she won’t succeed. Lulu’s self-righteousness drives her nuts. She understands, and if it was Nathan, she’d feel the same way; but Nikolas had been making questionable decisions, and had already faked his own death. For Charlotte’s sake, Lulu should suck it up. She says that Valentin always puts Charlotte first. It’s one of the first things she noticed about him, and why she fell in love with him. They kiss.

Sam says when she and Jason first got together, she was a mess. He was the first person to give her the benefit of the doubt. He made her want to tell the truth, and made her feel safe; he was Sonny’s enforcer. She wants him to be whoever he is. If he’s that guy, fine; if not, fine, but don’t deny who he is to make her happy. He says that’s not what he’s doing. There was a time being on the edge fueled him. and made him feel alive, but that’s when it was all about him. He’s a husband and father now. A real man stops being selfish, and takes on responsibilities. He’s always going to protect her and their family. He wants to be her man. He holds her.

Patient 6 wanders around church. He looks at the cross, and thanks God for bringing him this far. He asks Him to please help him get home to his family, and keep them safe until he can see them again.

Finn tells Anna that he’s not a spy, and it was bad judgement on her part to bring him into the cloak and dagger game if she doesn’t like how he plays. She says they need to come at it from another angle. Finn says that Cassandra probably threw the card away at this point, and he’ll never see her again.

Nina has a meeting. She leaves, and Valentin’s phone rings. It’s Cassandra. She says he’s been living in Port Charles a while now. Tell her whatever he knows about Dr. Hamilton Finn. I always forget he even has a first name.

Ava tells Kline that she won’t be a problem. Griff pops up behind Kline, grabs him, and injects him. Wow. He’s like a superhero. He asks if Ava is okay, and she says she is now.

Jason tells Sam that he’s allowed to go home.

The priest returns with another man. He tells Patient 6 that maybe he has something better than a train. Where does he want to go?

Tomorrow, Finn asks Anna what plan B is, Cassandra says there are matters to discuss, and Laura holds a gun on Valentin.

If Loving You is Wrong

Justice tells Natalie that he killed Ramsay, and asks her to call the police. She asks how, and Justice says he stabbed him with a knife from his mama’s kitchen. He says Ramsay was in the shower. She says he’s a child and Ramsay was a grown man. He wants the police to know that his mother didn’t do it; he wants her to come home. Natalie asks when he did it, and he says he doesn’t remember. He tells her that the back door was unlocked.

Natalie is stunned. She calls Lushion. He asks if he can call back. She says it’s important; it’s about Justice. She tells him to hurry. Justice asks if she called the police. She tells him she did. He wants to know if they’re letting his mother go, and she says they have to talk to the police first. She parks him on the couch and puts the knives in the bedroom.

At the station, Lushion asks Steve about a law firm who helped in another case. Steve asks why he’s calling them, and he says Kelly. Steve asks if he thinks she’s innocent, and says they have a lot on her. Lushion says he does, and all the more reason to make the call now.

Ian’s phone rings. Lushion introduces himself. He needs a favor. He has a friend who’s accused of murder and knows she’s innocent; he knows her well. Ian asks where she is, and says she’s not to say a word. Lushion says he told her that already. Ian says he’ll be there in the morning, but Lushion tells him that she has a kid, and asks if he can come now. Ian agrees, and asks if there’s a judge. Lushion doesn’t know, but I finally get the DA’s name; it’s Jan. Ian says he knows her.

Esperanza approaches Lushion, and asks if he talked to Kelly. He says he has, and she’s all right. Esperanza tells him that Natalie said Justice isn’t doing too well. Lushion asks if she can find out about a 911 tape. He tells her about the tape with Ramsay saying Kelly’s name, and she says she’ll look into it. He tells her to keep it on the low. He says that Eddie is there; he’s been arrested. She says for what, and he says the FBI. She knew everything would catch up to him, but it’s sad because he’s her daughter’s father. She knows he’d done bad things, but doesn’t know about everything. Lushion asks how long she’s known him, and she says too long. He wonders where Eddie was after he left Cincinnati for a couple of years after going to the academy, but she doesn’t know anything. She says there’s a friend who might know – Eddie calls him “Chaos” – but she doesn’t know where he is. Lushion wonders if Eddie might tell Esperanza something, but she tells him don’t count on it.

Alex wakes up. Brad’s not there, but his phone is. Marcie is calling. Brad comes out of the bathroom, and Alex hands him the phone. Marcie tells him that she needs him; she has a flat. The tow truck said it would be two hours. He says he’ll be on his way shortly. He tells Alex that Marcie has a flat, and she asks if it’s a real one. He says yes, and he’ll be right back. Alex asks if he really cares about her. She says it’s not easy to hear, and watch him leave in the middle of the night to help Marcie. She wants to come with him, but he reminds her they have kids who are asleep. She says she would though, to show Marcie that he’s hers. Brad says he reminds her all the time, and Alex asks if he can remind her. He tells her they’re working on it, but she has to be patient; there’s been a lot of damage. Alex knows she’s the cause of it, and says she’s trying. Brad tells her he’s committed to working on this. He says it’s over between him and Marcie, and he loves her. Alex says she loves him too, but Marcie isn’t going to stop. He explains that the tow truck would take two hours and it will only take him a half hour. Alex says she’ll wait up.

Randal gets a motion detected signal. He pops outside, and tells Brad that was quick. Brad says Marcie didn’t think so, and Randal says that she’s a good faker. Because we’re fourteen, Brad says she must be, since she was with Randal for so long. Randal says that Alex must not be satisfied, so don’t be surprised if they’re in the shed when he gets back; she likes it a lot longer. Brad asks Randal if he’s seen the video of him and Marcie doing it in his bed. He just sent it to him. Enjoy.

Lushion greets Ian, who’s waiting for a judge friend to get Kelly bail. Lushion tells him where she is, and Ian asks if he’s sure. Lushion says he’d put his reputation on it. I know Ian from somewhere. Probably a Tyler Perry film.

Ian goes in to see Kelly. He tells her that Lushion called him. She says she didn’t do it, and he asks what she told them. She says they asked a lot of questions, but she had no idea what they were talking about. She kept telling them that over and over. She asks how much longer; she needs to see her son. Ian says he’s working on it, but it might be difficult. They have a search warrant for her house. She says let them look; she didn’t do anything. (I’ll bet Natalie moving those knives is going to come back to haunt Kelly.) Ian says there’s a call in to the judge. It’s late, but they’re working on it. He needs her to calm down. He says they’ll get her out, but she has to be patient. He needs to know everything she knows about the victim. Every detail.

Alex rocks the baby. She hears something outside. It’s Randal dancing to music blasting from his car because he’s a total lunatic. She goes outside, and he says he’ll turn it down, but then starts singing to it. She goes back inside, and he laughs like a maniac. Why does no one else in the neighborhood ever see what a nut this guy is? At least the mailman knows now. (See last week.)

Esperanza goes to see Eddie in the interrogation room. She asks what he did, and he says her, a lot. Eddie makes crass people look good. She hopes he has a photographic memory, because he’s never touching her again. He tells her that she says that every time. She tells him this is serious. He says the two of them are serious too. She asks if he remembers they have a daughter together. As much as she hates it, he needs to think of what’s best for her. She asks if this is related to him stealing from drug dealers, and he asks if Lushion sent her in there. She says he’s dumber than she thought; the FBI is involved. He says Lushion and Steve are FBI. She says she knew the drugs made him paranoid, but this is ridiculous. She tells him he’s so not worth it. He says if he’s not getting some, get out. She says he needs to tell them everything. He says he doesn’t know what anyone is talking about. She tells him cooperate to get a lesser deal. He suggests she go home and take care of their daughter. He calls her the biggest whore on the block, and she says she’s a better parent than he is. He accuses her of throwing him under the bus, but she says they have a mountain of evidence. It’s mind-boggling how crazy he is. He says he’s Eddie; that’s’ all she needs to know. And on that note, she leaves.

Esperanza tells Lushion that Eddie isn’t talking. Lushion’s phone rings. It’s Alex. She asks if he can do her a favor. He says he will, if she can do him one – stop making people think the kid is his. She says it’s Randal doing that, and she’s sorry. Lushion says he’ll talk to him. Alex says while he’s doing that, can he do something about the loud music Randal is playing? Lushion can hear it in the background, but says he can’t help her. Alex tells him that the baby is asleep, and Randal is doing it on purpose. Lushion says he’ll cruise by in a little bit. Natalie calls again, but Lushion asks if it can wait, and she says it can. Really?

Brad finds Marcie on the side of the road. She tells him that she’s sorry. He says she really does have a flat. She says she wouldn’t do that to him, but he says she’ll do anything to upset Alex. Marcie says usually, yeah, but not this time. He sees a nail in the tire, and asks if she’s sure she didn’t do it. She says she didn’t, and asks if he was with her. He says yes, and she asks how it’s going. He doesn’t want to talk about it, and he’s just going to fix the tire. He tells Marcie that Alex was upset she called. Why? Why is he telling her that? It’s exactly what she wants to hear. She says she wasn’t about to call Randal. Brad says when she knows he’s with her, meaning Alex, Marcie needs to exhaust her other options first. He tells her that he’s going to try to make this work, and if she’s a good friend, she’ll want this for him. Marcie says that she wants him to be happy, and won’t call this late again.

She asks if he’s moved back in, and he says somewhat; he doesn’t have any of his things there yet. She says home is where the heart is, and he says when she puts it that way, he’s moved in. Marcie says, another thing to come to terms with. Brad says he hasn’t used the jack in a while, and she says she can tell. They could be there all night. She tells him he looks good doing it.

Randal continues to dance in the driveway. Lushion pulls up, and tells him to turn it down. Randal says, sorry, can’t hear you, and I laugh. Lushion says he’s not kidding. Randal says there’s no law against it, and Lushion says there is: it’s called disturbing the peace. Lushion reaches into the car, and turns it down himself. Randal asks if it was too loud. Lushion tells him keep it up and he’s going to jail. He tells Randal to keep it off, and he means it. Randal calls him the new sheriff on the block, keeping the peace and banging the ladies. He says the baby looks a lot like Lushion, and Lushion says that’s not his kid. Randal asks whose it is then. Lushion asks what’s wrong with him? He cheats on his wife, and still doesn’t get it. He calls Randal a sociopath, and Randal says he’s heard that. (Insert cuckoo clock sound here.) Lushion says he has to stop this; he’s doing everything to make Alex crazy. Randal accuses him of defending his whore. Lushion says he’s warning him leave that woman alone. Randal says he’s shaking in his slippers. Lushion says that he didn’t get it when they almost hung him; what’s it going to take? Randal says he didn’t get it then; all it did was piss him off more. He says she tried to do that to him, and Lushion says he can’t blame her. Randal asks if he isn’t supposed to be an officer of the law, and Lushion tells him to stay away from her. Randal asks if he’s protecting his baby mama, and Lushion repeats stay away.

Lushion knocks on Alex’s door. She says that Randal has turned it down for now, and Lushion thinks he got the message. Alex thanks him, but she needs some advice on what to do about him. Lushion tells her to ignore him. Alex says he’s threatening to go to the police, and say that she’s the one who told her parents to go after him. Lushion asks if she did, and she says yes. He tells her that she can go to jail for it. Alex says that Randal is fine, but Lushion says she can still go down for that. He doesn’t think that Randal is going to do anything; he would have done it by now. He wants her here to harass her. That’s more important than seeing her in jail.

Randal texts Natalie that her man is at Alex’s house. She goes outside. Alex tells Lushion that she’s nervous, and he says she’ll be okay. She apologizes for Randal thinking that the nameless baby is his. Seriously, this kid will be walking before someone gives him a name. Lushion tells Alex that Natalie asked about it, and she’s not the kind of woman you want asking those questions. Alex says she’ll talk to her again. Natalie comes down the block, and Randal says they’re probably humping like rabbits, and tells her to look inside. Alex hugs Lushion, and Natalie sees them through the window.

Next time, Natalie wishes they’d hung Randal, Kelly can’t afford Ian, and Eddie threatens Steve.

Below Deck

It’s the day before charter. Everyone is hung over, but they have to get the boat ready. Chris complains, and Nico tells him work through it. Matt asks Brianna if she’d like to take a boat ride this afternoon. She says okay. She doesn’t think he’s her type, but how do you know unless you’ve had a beach picnic?

Nico says last night was a close call, and he has to check himself before he does something stupid, like cheat on his girlfriend. He wonders what the captain meant by reconfiguring the deck crew. He tells Captain Lee that Chris should just put his sunglasses on and work. In his interview, the captain says Chris acts like he doesn’t care, but he will. Kate comes into the lounge and asks Captain Lee what’s up. He tells her that he’s contemplating, and she says she prefers solution. He says, believe him, he’s working on that.

Time for the preference sheet meeting. The primaries are a couple, Bradley and Summer Smith, who own the Smith Family Homes luxury contracting company. Bradley is also a trained gourmet chef, although it doesn’t say where he trained. Matt says that doctors make the worst patients, and chefs make the worst dinner guests. The couple coming with them is celebrating a 10th anniversary, and they’ve also requested a casino themed party. They don’t drink, which Captain Lee doesn’t think he’s seen before.

Brianna is getting the afternoon off, and Jen asks if she has to be promiscuous to get some downtime. Kate says the next time it will be her. Matt tells us about breaking up with his girlfriend, and that he hasn’t been on a first date in a long time. He has a beer to relax, and then another one, and then some more. Nico says he’s absolutely wasted. Matt thinks that Bri needs a guy who’s thoughtful and romantic, and he’s focused on impressing her. They leave in a small boat, and have cocktails, and Kate tells the crew that fifty bucks says she’s pregnant when she gets back. Nico says somebody has to do it if he can’t.

Jen calls herself Cinderella. Matt and Brianna go to a beach called Happy Bay that turns out to be a nude beach. Believe me, no one wants to see this. This bay is happy for some people, but it wouldn’t be for me. Matt lays out the picnic, and Bri thinks it’s a good start. Matt says he’s lucky to be with her. They joke about the naked people. He asks if they can travel the world in an airstream. He says he’s jealous of the freedom of the naked people, and she’s welcome to be nude. He drinks a lot of Jack Daniels from the bottle.

Matt says they have a lot in common. Bri doesn’t want to make things awkward. In her interview, she says he’s obviously drunk, and this is probably most awkward date she’s ever been on. He starts talking about them falling in love. In his interview, Matt says that there were three people on the date; him, her, and Jack, who was speaking the loudest. He asks if she likes him, but she says not like that right now. He babbles a lot, and at one point calls her an a-hole. Gee, this is going well.

They get back to the boat, and Matt sings Smooth Operator. Omg.  He uses a broom handle for a mic, asks the guys if they know who he is, and says he’s going to t-rex the sh*t out of her, while making tiny dinosaur arms. Nico doesn’t think it went that good if he’s that drunk. Bri tells Bruno that she made it clear she wasn’t interested. Bruno says he thought they hooked up, since she looks happy, but she says it’s the opposite. The crew calls it a night. Man, is that dude going to be hung over.

Matt admits to acting like an idiot. Jen asks Bri about the date. She says it was awkward. He was drunk, and she wasn’t into him. In her interview, Jen says she should be happy to have any date. A new bosun suddenly shows up, surprising Baker. Captain Lee tells us that EJ is from Canada, and he’s known him a few years. He’ll know what he’s getting into. The first thing he tells EJ is that the crew is extremely green, which is why he’s there. He says that Nico is doing a good job, but isn’t ready to be a bosun. Baker tells Nico that Captain Lee said if they can’t get up to speed, he’s going to get rid of some people. EJ asks the captain about Nico, and Captain Lee says that he’s overwhelmed. Nico and EJ are introduced. The captain tells Nico to make sure he has bunk, and get him settled in. Nico is pissed, thinking that he deserves to be bosun.

Matt says that it’s no fun waking up with hangover and regrets. I second that. He talks about wrecking a previous relationship with partying, but wasn’t ready to give it up. In his interview, EJ says that he’s always up for a challenge. He can adapt easily, and gets an adrenaline rush out of something new. Chris thinks it’s ridiculous. Nico hopes no one is leaving. He introduces EJ to the rest of the crew. Kate says there’s no HR on a yacht, and if there was, they’d be in big trouble.

Baker hoped they were hiring someone new, but the captain surprised them. She wonders who she’s supposed to take orders from. Jen tells Chris he’ll be sleeping in the crew mess. He’s like, are you kidding me?

The guests board. Kate gives the tour. There’s a toilet that does a whole lot of automatic things, and Kate says guests love it because it’s the peak of excessive gratuitous luxury. I dunno. That toilet scares me. Primary guest Bradley hassles Matt in the galley. Matt tells Bradley that he likes to cook simply, which seems good with him. The Valor moves out. Nico thinks it sucks that he has to report to EJ, who uses the phrase cool beans repeatedly. Kate doesn’t get virgin cocktails, and thinks you might as well drink water. Bri asks if Matt is quiet because of the excursion. He tells her that he’s just tired, and not to worry about him. Matt downs an energy drink, and chops vegetables.

Lunch is chicken vegetable salad with tomato vinaigrette, and the guests are happy. Kate asks if Matt is feeling okay. EJ says that the crew hasn’t been taught properly, and something needs to change. Captain Lee asks Bri how the guests are, and she says boring. Baker puts Chris’s stuff in her closet, so it‘s not in the crew mess.

The water toys are out, and the guests enjoy the afternoon in St. Martin.

Nico tells Bri that EJ has experience, but he does too, and should be bosun. He feels blindsided, and wonders if he’s going home. He says that it’s like a slap in the face.

Dinner is scallops with brussels sprout risotto. I know from Gordon Ramsay that risotto can be a bitch. Kate says it has to be a good dinner. Drunk guests notice mistakes less, and she hopes that Matt brings out a great dish. One steak is way past medium, and Bradley points out that the risotto is undercooked. Kate asks if they want something else, but that’s a no. She gives Matt the feedback, and in her interview, says that anyone else on the planet would be mortified if they failed the one job they had, but Matt is just shrugging it off. He does seem like a zombie in the galley. He makes bananas foster for dessert. Kate tells us that it’s a strange, weird, and lazy choice; this isn’t TGI Friday’s.

EJ asks Nico what the typical evening scenario is, and thinks they should be doing windows when it’s quiet. Nico says they usually chill at night. EJ thinks they should tackle things in downtime. In his interview, Nico says this is as good as it’s going to get. The guests complain that there wasn’t enough ice cream in the dessert. Jen asks if they’d like to see the chef, but they tell her to just relay the message.

The guests gather on the deck for fireworks that Matt set up on shore. At first, the display is a bit of a dud, but then it rallies. Kate tells us that when all else fails, set something on fire. Since they’re not drinking, it’s all she has.

Matt tosses and turns. Chris talks about a previous guest’s fake boobs to EJ, who doesn’t receive that too well. In his interview, he says he wants to lead by example. He shows Baker some tips on cleaning the deck, and demonstrates some knots for Bruno. He wants them to be better; it’s what they deserve. Jen tells Kate about the desert. Kate says that maybe Matt will be like the fireworks – worrisome in the beginning, but with a great finale.

Baker says it’s weird that EJ is in charge of Nico now. Captain Lee confers with EJ, and asks about his first impression. EJ says he prefers to run it harder, and not have the crew walking around aimlessly. In his interview, he says that Nico set the tone of it being lackadaisical, but he pronounces it lazy-daisical. He says it needs to change, and tells the captain that he and Nico need to get on the same page because they have to be tight. Captain Lee agrees.

In the morning, Nico gives Chris his bed. Chris couldn’t sleep because of the noise and light. Bradley meets Matt in the galley, asking for coffee. Matt radios Jen, who is late for her shift, but still needs to mess endlessly with her hair. He keeps calling her, but she doesn’t answer. Kate wonders how you can be late on a yacht, where there’s no commute. You just roll out of bed and you’re there. I was a mother’s helper for a neighbor for six years, and I totally get that.

The captain says they’re going to Rendezvous Bay in Anguilla. He asks how Nico is doing, and Nico asks if this is a permanent crew situation. The captain says he isn’t sure, and Nico whines that there are too many people. In his interview, Captain Lee says he didn’t bring in EJ for his health, and Nico needs to suck it up, cupcake. Everyone is working, and EJ lectures Baker about using something called Wink. In his interview, he says he had a father in the Navy, and hard work was instilled in him. I identify. He believes that if you work hard and do your job, you’ll come out on top. Bri asks if Matt got any rest. She tells Jen that Matt seems down.

The anchor chain scrapes the paint on the boat. Everyone rushes around getting breakfast started. Matt says that the last few days have given him perspective on how much he has to get it together. It’s not a good feeling, having a guest be critical. He says that if you don’t recognize that you’re messing up, you’ll keep messing up. After the anchor is in the pocket, Nico points out to EJ that a break wasn’t disengaged, and blah-blah-blah about it. In his interview, EJ feels like Nico wants him to screw up, so he looks good, but he has another thing coming to him. In his interview, Nico says strike one. He calls EJ an effing idiot. This is just proving that EJ is right, and isn’t a good look for Nico.

Next time, there’s a leak in the laundry room, the Valor drifts toward another boat, and Jen and Bri argue. It’s also worth mentioning that there was a clip with Captain Lee saying that it’s embarrassing, and when the pressure comes, everything they’ve learned gets forgotten. It brought to mind it’s go-go not cry-cry from Planet Terror.

👸 I’m glad my first name is not also a noun. Just sayin’.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Michael goes to Nelle’s apartment. She only has a few minutes, and he hopes they can talk about what they need to in that time. He wants to know why she lied.

Alexis wants to talk to Dr. Bensch. She trips and falls into him. Her shoe is broken. On the phone, Sam tells Jason that her mom is a hot mess. She has one more test, and she’ll see him soon. When she hangs up, she says that either Alexis is a mess or a genius.

Franco comes to Jason’s room, bearing balloons and a teddy bear.

In Russia, alarms are going off at the clinic. Ava asks what’s happening. The nurse says that Patient 6 got loose, and to get in her room. On the phone, Dr. Kline wants someone to send help. They’re not equipped to handle this. Patient 6 is strong, fast, and nearly impossible to control. If they don’t reclaim him tonight, they might not get him back.

Michael says that Nelle lied and he wants to know why. She asks about what? He takes the ring out of his pocket, and says, this. It looks like this is the ring she said that she lost.

Dr. Kline says that Patient 6 had help.  He sees an earring on the floor in Patient 6’s room, and says that now he knows who gave it to him.

In her room, Ava says she wishes the racket would stop. The alarms go silent, and she wishes for a martini. Kline comes in, and she asks if everything is under control. He says it will be soon, and closes the door.

Franco tells Jason that he would have done better if he’d had time to plan, but someone wanted to see him immediately. Jason says he’s sorry he pulled Franco away from finger painting, and Franco says that he kinda did; he got his job back. He tells Jason that everyone is thrilled he’s awake. Jason asks if in the long run, it wouldn’t have been better for Franco if he’d stayed in a coma. Franco says he’s not good with hypotheticals. Jason says he isn’t either, and asks why Franco visited him in the ICU.

Patient 6 navigates some stairwells. A Russian Orthodox priest comes out of a door and onto the landing. He speaks in Russian, asking Patient 6 if he isn’t cold without shoes. Patient 6 says he doesn’t speak Russian, and the priest asks why no shoes? Patient 6 says he had to leave without them. The priest asks if the place he left wasn’t good, and he says not good at all. He asks how he can help. Patient 6 asks where he can find a train station.

Dr. Bensch picks up Alexis’s shoe and asks if she’s okay. Alexis says she’s fine, and can she have her shoe back? The doctor says he has a temporary fix, and walks away with it. Sam joins Alexis, who asks what she’s doing. Sam says that Dr. Bensch is handsome and charming, and asks if Alexis got his number. Alexis tells her to back off.

Franco says visiting Jason is crazy, right? Maybe they mixed up his meds. Jason repeats what Franco said to him when he was in a coma, and asks if it sounds familiar.

The priest asks Patient 6 how he’ll pay for a train ride. Patient 6 says he’ll figure it out, and the priest asks if he’s going to rob someone. He says not unless he has to, and asks for directions. The priest tells him that they get donations, and will have something that should fit him. He tells Patient 6 to come with him. Patient 6 says he’s fine on his own, but the priest says that God disagrees. That’s why he’s here.

Ava asks Dr. Kline if it’s time for her treatment, and he says she’ll definitely get what’s coming to her. He asks if she’s enjoying her stay. She says it’s kind of dull without a phone or television, but it proves how addicted they all are to technology. Dr. Kline says that her treatments are working, and asks if she’s pleased with the service. She asks if these aren’t questions reserved for the conclusion of the treatments. He tells her that she’s right, and she seems to have problem with the rules, specifically staying away from Patient 6. He escaped. She asks if that’s what the alarms were for, and he shows her the earring (she’s wearing the other one), saying he found it in Patient 6’s room. Oh, Ava, just make something up. You’re good at that.

Nelle asks Michael where he got the ring. He tells her he found it when she was at work. She tells him that snooping isn’t a good look, and wonders if he took lessons from Carly and Bobbie. He says he was unpacking her stuff, when some books dropped and it fell out. Imagine his surprise, since she’d told Sharon that she’d lost it. He asks if it’s Zack’s ring, and Nelle says, no, it’s hers. Zack gave it to her; does it matter? He says it matters a lot, and she tells him not to be jealous. He says that isn’t the problem. It’s a family heirloom, and she has to give it back. She says, like hell. Michael says that Zack gave it to her because she was going to be part of the family, and he might have wanted it passed down to their children. Sadly, that didn’t happen, so it should go back to the family. Nelle asks why she should give it back to people who accused her of murdering him. He asks if she’s keeping it to spite them, and she says what if she is? It’s all she has of him. She got to keep no happy memories, and only has vicious accusations to remember him by. They won’t be happy until she’s behind bars, and made her life hell. He asks why she lied, and said she’d lost it.

Alexis tells Sam that she’s mortified. She says that Sam needs to stop trying to control the wheel of her social life, and asks if she rigged the shoe. Sam says no, and Alexis says that she knows Sam means well, and she loves her, but she’s not ready to put herself out there. She may never be. Sam asks if that’s because someone might find out. Alexis asks who, and Sam says, Julian.

Franco tells Jason that he probably dreamed all that crazy stuff. Jason says he couldn’t open his eyes or respond, but he heard every word. Franco admits to stopping by, but can’t remember what he rambled about. Jason says that something had him thinking they’re related, even though that was resolved years ago. Franco says that the thought had occurred to him again, but it turned out to be nothing, so he can resume his regularly scheduled life. Jason says that Jake told him about a photo that looks like him, and Franco says it was just a kid from the neighborhood, and had nothing to do with him.

Ava acts surprised about the earring, telling the doctor that she had no idea she’d lost it, and he should ask his staff. Maybe someone picked it up and dropped it. Dr. Kline says that all factors being equal, the simplest explanation is likely to be true. She lost it in Patient 6’s room. Ava tells him that she doesn’t like his tone. He says that Patient 6 is a dangerous man, and she set him free. There will be consequences.

Patient 6 follows the priest into a church. The priest says God sent him because he never used that alleyway until tonight. They hear someone, and Patient 6 ducks behind a wall. This is an amazing set, and really looks like an old, historical church. He hears the priest talking in Russian. He’s talking to Griff, who gives the priest his name, adding that he’s from America, and asks if he can pray there. The priest tells him he’s welcome to pray, but he has to lock up soon. He tells Griff to rest from his troubles. Griff asks what makes him think he has troubles. The priest says he thinks Griff needs help, and God will send it.

Patient 6, who I desperately want to call Steve or Jason at this point, watches for a while, and then steps into the room. He tells Griff that he heard him say that he was American. So is he. He asks if Griff can do him a favor.

Ava insists she didn’t help Patient 6, she just gave him a paperclip. More specifically, he dropped it, and she gave it back to him. She thinks the doctor and his staff should be more careful. They messed up, not her. Dr. Kline asks if she likes how she looks. She says she hasn’t seen herself yet. He tells her that she’s much improved, but the scars are still severe. She tells him that’s why she came, to get her face back. Dr. Kline says that she’s cost him time, money, and inconvenience. She says that she’s sorry, and he tells her she’s in Russia; apologies are meaningless. This sounds funny coming from someone who sounds like they’re from Connecticut.

On the phone again, Dr. Kline tells someone that Patient 6 made it outside. He says screw you; you lost him. He tells them that Patient 6 had help. They have a patient here, a woman, who could be the problem. He’ll call with an update.

Jason tells Franco that all the photo would prove was that they were in the same place at the same time when they were kids. How did he jump to brothers? Franco says that looking at the photo started to make him think about his messed up childhood. Jason asks how it was messed up, and Franco says, how? Look at him. He was a weird kid who had an imaginary friend who wasn’t imaginary; he was the kid in the photo. Jason wonders why he would think the friend was imaginary, and Franco explains that he recently learned it was a kid from the neighborhood who left the neighborhood. He was sensitive, so his mom didn’t want to upset him, and let him believe the friend was made up. When he saw the photo, he started to feel like he did when Heather said that he and Jason were brothers. He thought it might jog Jason’s memory like it did his, but that was useless, since Jason has no memories of his childhood, right?

Alexis tells Sam that Julian has nothing to do with it. Sam says he has everything to do with it. Either she was so tortured by him, she doesn’t want to get back out there, or she’s waiting for him. Alexis suggests that maybe she wants to concentrate on her own life – family, work, learning to cook. Sam says Alexis had her until the cooking part. Alexis says maybe she just wants to be alone. Sam says that she could accept it if she thought it was true, but knows her. She asks Alexis if she isn’t lonely.

Nelle tells Michael that she lied because that snotty bitch didn’t want her to have the ring. Michael says that she knows Nelle still has it. Nelle says she can’t prove it. He says she can try, and has the resources. If he was in that position, he’d do the same thing. Nelle asks if he’s trying to scare her, and he says if she wants them to back off, the first step would be to return the ring. It’s not about doing the right thing, but the smart thing. Nelle doesn’t buy it. She says he met Sharon for five minutes. Michael says that it bothers him more than she lied to him. She says she didn’t. She never told him that she didn’t have it. If Nina hadn’t told her to come in, she would have explained. He says he’s here now, and she’s making it look like his grandmother is right about her.

Nelle is like, wow, that’s it; his family gets their way. Does he believe she’s as bad as they say she is? Michael says he’s trying to fit the woman he loves with a woman who would lie for no reason. She tells him that she was protecting herself. Sharon showed up, throwing Zack in her face. She knew the next thing would be her showing up with a squad of lawyers. Michael says he would have defended her, but Nelle says she doesn’t know that. A few months of being supportive doesn’t undo a lifetime of being the only one to have her own back. She wishes she hadn’t lied to him, and he tells her that makes two of us. She says that him believing her doesn’t help. They accused her of murder, and nothing will change their minds. She’s not going through it again, whether he believes them or her.

Jason says that so Franco’s adoptive mom lied about his imaginary friend, and his mom lied about them being twins. Doesn’t he think there’s more to it? Franco says, being related? No, let’s get on with our lives and forget the conversation ever happened. Jason says it works for him, but he’d like to see the photo.

Sam apologizes to Alexis. She says she knows it’s not what Alexis signed up for, but worries about her. She’ll butt out, but asks her not to shut off the possibility of finding love again. She has much to give, and can do better than Julian. Dr. Bensch returns with Alexis’s shoe, and says it should hold until she gets home. He tells Sam that he’ll call her with the test results. Sam walks off, and smiles.

Ava starts to freak out. She tells Dr. Kline that he can’t stop the treatments. He says it’s a shame. He wanted to see her face restored; she should have listened. She says if she had known, she never would have lifted a finger to help Patient 6. The doctor tells her it’s too late; he opportunity is gone. She says so is her desire to break the rules, and begs for another chance. She says she’ll pay more, whatever he wants. She needs to be whole. She asks him not to take that away from her. He tells her that she ruined her chances all by herself.

Griff says that Patient 6 is obviously in trouble. How can he help? Patient 6 says he needs to make a phone call.

Nelle asks who Michael believes. He says that he doesn’t think she’s capable of murder. She says that’s comforting, but he didn’t answer her question. He says she told him that she needed to time to be able to reach out and fully trust someone. He needs time to come to terms with this. She tells him that he’s welcome to go through the rest of her stuff; it’s his apartment after all. Maybe he can find more evidence that she’s the awful person Bobbie and Carly think she is. He tells her that he wants to help, but she has to meet him halfway. He puts the ring down, and leaves. Tears roll down Nelle’s cheeks.

Franco asks Jason why he’d want to see a random photo of him as a kid. Jason says curiosity. Jake thought he looked like the kid too, and he wants to see for himself. Franco says that he lost the photo. Jason will have to live with the knowledge that there’s a lookalike of him out there; at least what he used to look like. He tells Jason to feel better. In the hallway, Franco runs into Sam. She asks what he’s doing there, and he tells her to ask her husband.

Alexis says her shoe is good, and thanks Dr. Bensch for taking the time to fix it. He says what if she’d injured herself? She might never dance again. She says that she doesn’t dance, and he says maybe she hasn’t found the right partner, and suggests they go out some night. Alexis says, no, let’s not, and he says it’s probably inappropriate to asks out a patient’s mother. She tells him that her ex-husband is in jail, her father was a madman who wanted to freeze the world, she dressed up as a butler to be near her daughter, and she just got sober. Dr. Bensch says it doesn’t make her any less charming, and there must be quite a story about the butler thing. She says maybe they should skip dinner and just talk. He says that’s good with him, and saves him from having to brush up on The Hustle.

Sam asks Jason what Franco was doing there. Jason says he asked him to come. He remembered him visiting in the ICU. Sam asks what for, and he tells her like most things with Franco, he’s trying to figure it out. Sam’s phone rings, and she finds out that her car alarm is going off. She tells gun that she’ll be right back.

Griff gives his phone to Patient 6, who asks if it’s new. Griff says he’s embarrassed, but he always has to be first in line for an upgrade. I have no idea why this is important. Will it come up later, or is this some sort of subtle advertising for the new iPhone? Griff prays. He remembers kissing Ava, and the conversation afterward where she accused him of wearing a mask that he denies. He asks God to help him find Ava and bring her home.

Ava says, so that’s it? She gets no more treatments, and has to go home looking like this for the rest of her life? Dr. Kline tells her that he didn’t say anything about going home.

Jason’s phone rings. It’s Patient 6. There’s silence, and Jason asks who’s there.

Tomorrow, Valentin and Nina celebrate an anniversary, Finn asks why Anna feels responsible, Ava begs for her freedom, and both Jason and Patient 6 ask, “Who is this?”

The Real Housewives of the OC

Everyone gets ready for Lydia’s Balls Voyage party. Lydia and Doug are having a private kiki beforehand, and go out to the boat early. Doug tells the captain that they’re done having kids officially, as of tomorrow.

Lydia is thrilled with how the party has been set up. Meghan and Jimmy arrive first. Doug tells Jim about the vasectomy horror stories he’s heard. Jim says he’s had one, but he had “saved some,” which is how they produced Baby Aspen. Meghan tells us that it’s the first time she and Lydia have seen each other since the hike, so she feels a little awkward. Lydia tells Meghan about how she felt left out when the other women went to dinner and she wasn’t invited. She tells Lydia that no one talked about her, but Lydia is skeptical, and rightly so.

The rest of the group trickles in. In her interview, Lydia says that she and Shannon were starting over, and everything was good, when Shannon had the dinner and didn’t invite her. She makes a point of greeting Shannon and David. Tamra asks Kelly if Peggy is talking to her. Kelly says she’s not mad at Peggy, which isn’t what Tamra asked, but Peggy proves there are no hard feelings by joining them with her salad.

Lydia is excited to be getting off the pill. She explains the vasectomy procedure to the girls. Doug discusses his upcoming surgery with the guys. Diko says something about Peggy having taken the pill, and that it’s linked to cancer. David gets all up in his business, asking a million questions about Peggy’s cancer. Diko explains Peggy’s situation much better than she did, so hopefully David is satisfied. But seriously, how rude. Everyone comes up on deck to see the sunset, and Lydia gives a toast. They drink to Doug. Push presents are discussed, and it has to be explained to Peggy. She says Diko owes her big time. She thinks she should get a gift for each push, not just each baby.

Tamra tells Peggy that she felt badly for not stopping Kelly’s rant at her, but says she did well for herself. She says she’s been in Peggy’s shoes, and woke up feeling like she’d done the wrong thing. She says they have a similar sense of humor with the sarcasm, and people don’t understand her intentions sometimes. In her interview, Peggy appreciates the apology, but wonders why Tamra didn’t stick up for her in the moment.

It’s time for the vasectomy, and Doug’s heart is racing. Lydia says a quick prayer, including that the surgeon has steady hands. She says she’s been gung-ho about the whole thing, but of course is nervous.

Kelly goes for a colonic. She tells us she’s backed up because of the anesthesia. Vicki is meeting her, and she says Vicki is more full of sh*t than she is. Vicki claims that she never defecates. Really? I think that’s probably a medical impossibility for the average person who isn’t missing organs or something. She points out a notation on her medical records to Kelly, and Kelly wonders who carries those around with them. Apparently, Vicki.

Lydia calls her mom from the waiting room, saying that she’s scared. She tries to direct Lydia’s thoughts to something more positive, and tells her to remember who she is. Lydia tells her mom that she sucks at this, but before we know it, the doctor comes out and says Doug is finished.

Kelly thinks the colonic will release Vicki’s toxins. Vicki talks about all the heartache she has, and says she’ll probably die from a broken heart. She tells Kelly about how toxic some of the women are. Kelly thinks she should talk to Tamra, and call a truce. Vicki just wants to be able to be in the same room. In her interview, she says she only wants to be loved, and be happy in the years she has left.

Everyone prepares for Easter. Meghan makes cards using Aspen’s footprint. Shannon thinks she inherited the zany part of her personality from her mother, Pat, as they make a basket that looks like a Pinterest fail. She gripes about her weight gain. She’s afraid to check with the doctor, because he might say it’s not her hormones. She says she knows David must be disgusted, and thinks it must be why they’re growing apart. She tells her mother that since the vow renewal, he’s been stepping back. He told her a few weeks ago that the marriage isn’t doing well. We flash back, and that’s not exactly what he said, but okay. Shannon wonders if she’ll ever get over the affair. Their distance is reminding her about it. When it was great, she could forget, but now it’s not so great. Her mother says she has to remember what she did to make it better the last time, and bring it back again. She tells Shannon to concentrate on her own life, and says that she couldn’t be blessed with better children. Spending time with them should make her happy. In her interview, Shannon tells us that there was infidelity in her parents’ marriage, but her mother stayed in it for the kids, and they eventually divorced when the kids were older. Her mother thinks she should get a clean bill of health first, and asks her to get a check-up.

Peggy makes some Armenian Easter pastry with her kids. She says it’s important because Christianity is a big part of their lives, and Armenians were the first to accept it. She couldn’t have gotten through her surgeries without God. She tells her daughters about meeting Shannon’s husband, and how he was grilling Diko about her cancer. She says it’s not coming from a place of concern, and it’s insulting. I agree. We see a clip of Diko telling her that he felt like he was being interrogated. One of the girls suggests that Shannon is the one who really wanted to know. Peggy says David is lucky she wasn’t there; she would have thrown him off the boat. She says she’s disgusted.

At Lydia’s mothers house, they make cookies and color eggs. Doug talks about there being a Lydia in the bible, but says there are no Dougs. In her interview, Lydia says her mom is super goofy, so she feels she has to be more responsible when they’re together. They hide the eggs, and their youngest son finds them. Lydia tells us that her mom was an actress, and then decided to concentrate on being a mom. She and her mom put on crowns. Why not?

Shannon’s mother comes for Easter dinner. Pat asks about Sophie’s practice driving. We flash back to Shannon freaking out in the car. Both she and David suggest Pat take her. Shannon talks about tapping a gas tank her first time out, and the glass ball on top falling and shattering. David jokes about her having a silver spoon in her mouth, but Shannon says although they were privileged, she always worked. David says their kids don’t know any different, but Shannon disagrees. In her interview, she says there’s a disconnect, and she wants the husband who looked at her with adoring eyes back.

Vicki tells Steve it didn’t go as well as she would have liked with Tamra. In hindsight, she shouldn’t have had Ricky at her party. She tells him about Shannon getting involved in their argument. She thinks if it wasn’t for Shannon, she and Tamra would have moved on a while ago.

Lydia shows up at the gym where Tamra is working out. Tamra puts her through some paces. In her interview, Tamra she’s grateful for their friendship. She can talk to another Christian about things that other people don’t get. She shows Lydia a rash, and thinks it’s stress. She says fighting with Vicki is physically making her sick, and she wants to put the past behind them and move forward.

Steve says that Vicki should work out an agreement with Tamra to be civil. He thinks too many people re meddling, and we flash back to a lot of intrusion. He says that Vicki needs to fix it, otherwise he’ll have to keep hearing about it, and he doesn’t want to. Vicki tells us that Steve is rational, calm, and logical, all the things she isn’t, and gives her stability. Steve tells her to do it now.

Lydia is saying the same thing to Tamra. She doesn’t need to trust Vicki, but talk to her and let it go, so they don’t keep talking about the last decade. Tamra says that Vicki was one of her bridesmaids. Oddly enough, Vicki calls right at that moment. She asks if Vicki’s ears were burning, and Vicki says they always are. Vicki says it’s time to bury it or turn it over. She doesn’t know what to do about their friendship, and asks if they can meet. Lydia thinks they should hear each other’s pain and move forward. Tamra agrees to meet. Lydia claims her title as a powerful prayer warrior.

Next time, hookahs and belly dancing, Diko grills Shannon about David, and Tamra and Vicki meet.

The Real Housewives of Dallas

D’Andra asks LeeAnne if her boobs are beach ready, but LeeAnne says she’s in a lot of pain. Everyone is getting ready to go to the beach. Brandi wants to put a sex toy in D’Andra’s bag, since she’s so conservative. She gives Stephanie the job of distracting them. Stephanie says every vacation needs this. Brandi does the deed when everyone gathers to leave. Brandi says the only way you can have a friendship is with no judgments.

The girls try different tequilas. Bleh. Kameron says this isn’t typically how she starts her morning. I’m pretty sure that it’s acceptable in Mexico. There are worms and grasshoppers for garnishes. D’Andra and Cary drink a worm. Cary coughs it out, saying that the worm tried to kill her. D’Andra says it doesn’t taste like anything. She thinks the girls would never make it in a third world country. She finds the surprise in her bag, and knows it had to be Brandi. Stephanie says it’s amazing and disturbing. D’Andra makes it the centerpiece, but Brandi wants to pass it around as a share-your-feelings wiener. Kameron tells her to get it away from her, which is like a red flag to a bull, and Brandi chases her with it. In her interview, Kameron calls it Brandi Does Mexico, and wants no part of this movie. LeeAnne tells them to leave Kameron alone, and buries it in the sand. In her interview, LeeAnne thought it was hilarious, but seeing Kameron being hassled, when she was genuinely offended, was painful. Stephanie says she’d rather hang out with her mom than Kameron, and her mom is a Sunday school teacher. Kameron says people with different backgrounds behave in different ways. LeeAnne thinks if the class situation is brought up, they’ll be on the Titanic. Brandi makes a remark about some people thinking they’re better than others. Kameron says she’s uncomfortable, and that’s the difference.

In her interview, Cary says it’s hard, because she’s friends with both Kameron and Brandi. The beach party breaks up, and they agree to meet for dinner. Kameron is like, no bugs and no toys. Stephanie fully supports the wiener. Brandi thinks she can’t hang out with someone who doesn’t think it’s fun. Cary thinks it was too much for Kameron, and Brandi says all that pink is too much for her.

LeeAnne says that last year, she had an issue with Brandi and Stephanie drinking and reliving their youth. We flash back to the dog poop hat debacle. LeeAnne says that Brandi needs to own her bad behavior.

Cary tells Stephanie and Brandi that she heard Rich has a small weenie. The girls get foot massages, and I’m totally jealous. Cary says she needs to have her stomach pumped from all the tequila, and then figure out how she can drink more.

Stephanie FaceTimes with Travis. He’s half asleep, and says blah-blah-blah about the kids. Cary attempts to twerk. LeeAnne tells D’Andra that she and Rich got engaged. She wanted to tell her first, and show her the ring privately. D’Andra starts to cry, and they hug. In her interview, LeeAnne says it means as much to D’Andra to see the ring as it did for her to get it, and that’s how you know someone loves you. D’Andra says neither one of them have children, and the reality of dying alone haunted and bonded them. She thinks LeeAnne has a true love story.

LeeAnne says she’s bleeding from one of her stitches. She wants to get through dinner, and then take a painkiller. The ladies gather, at a beautiful outdoor table for what Cary declares is a reset dinner. Everything is phenomenal, but the breeze makes everyone have to constantly deal with their hair flying around. Cary says that she has activities planned, but nothing offensive. Brandi asks if she’s sure that Kameron won’t be affected. Kameron says there are boundaries, and she thought it was inappropriate. She says she doesn’t go to strip clubs, and wonders why as parents they’d go to one. Brandi accuses her of being judgmental, and Kameron says they’re judging her. Brandi says she doesn’t judge somebody for not having a Highland Park zip code. Kameron wonders why she brought that up, and Cary admits she told Brandi what Kameron had said about them basically being in different classes. Brandi says Kameron is pissing her off, and how shallow to judge someone by their zip code; it shouldn’t matter. In her interview, Kameron says she wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but she was born with manners Cary says they should accept each other, and move on. Brandi wonders why Kameron can’t just laugh it off. Kameron says people in Dallas talk about Brandi and Stephanie, and think it’s disgusting. Brandi says she only cares about the people who love her, and that’s Kameron’s problem – she cares what everyone thinks. Cary burps. In her interview, she says there’s no better conversation stopper than a burp or a fart.

LeeAnne has an announcement. She thought it would be fun to share tonight, and shows them her ring.. Everyone gets all excited. A bachelorette party is demanded. Brandi tells Kameron that she’s in charge of the wiener. In her interview, Stephanie says that Rich might have a small wiener, but he has big balls to marrying LeeAnne. They get some champagne, and D’Andra makes a weepy toast.

The next morning, Leeanne wants to just celebrate with D’Andra, but they decide to have breakfast downstairs. She remarks how gorgeous it is, and wishes they could have a day where they could just chill. LeeAnne says she was scared to tell the group. She doesn’t get Cary saying she’s so happy. D’Andra tells LeeAnne that she takes the bait every time. She brings up Cary telling Brandi that her doctor murdered people. She says she was so angry, she said if Cary comes for her, she’ll strangle her. D’Andra calls Cary is a know-it-all, and thinks LeeAnne should try a different approach. In her interview, she says she’ll be LeeAnne’s friend forever, but she can’t change her life for her. She tells LeeAnne that she needs to practice restraint. LeeAnne says that’s her plan. She learned in therapy that she can only control her own words and actions.

In Stephanie and Brandi’s room, Stephanie is having a bubble bath, with the bubbles nearly at Lucy and Ethel proportion. We did this on our honeymoon. We had no bubble bath, and I said, I wonder what would happen if I put some shampoo in here? Well, I’ll tell you what happens if you put shampoo in a whirlpool tub – a lot of bubbles. I started to get scared that it would turn into an I Love Lucy episode, with bubbles all the way into the hall. Brandi jumps into the tub (wearing a bathing suit). Stephanie digs through the bubbles, and finds a bottle of champagne. Stephanie says it’s the tub of her dreams. She doesn’t know why Kameron doesn’t like Brandi, jokingly referring to her as the most elegant woman she knows. She thinks she thinks that Kameron just doesn’t get her sense of humor.

Kameron, D’Andra, and LeeAnne go to the spa. Kameron says it’s her kind of vacation, in her interview, she says she doesn’t stoop to Brandi’s level. She enjoys the spa, tennis, and nature hikes. It’s kind of a shame. I liked Kameron until she started remarking on zip codes. I think she overreacted on the beach, but I also think Brandi shouldn’t have chased her around. Even so, where you live or lived should have nothing to do with anything.

The girls go to a beautiful restaurant inside of a cave. Stephanie hopes a bat lands on Kameron, so she has something else to scold. The tequila drinking commences. Kameron can’t keep up. With one, she’s tipsy; two, you’d better watch out; and three, she needs to go home to bed. In her interview, LeeAnne says the person who has one of everything and knows it all, is usually the last to be invited to the party. Stephanie wants to play two truths and a lie. Brandi goes first, and everyone correctly agrees on the lie. Cary claims she can’t think of anything that isn’t beyond inappropriate. She wants to use her time in a different way. She wants to know the truth. She says that Brandi told her that LeeAnne threatened to strangle her. Brandi says didn’t use the word strangle. LeeAnne says that she wishes Cary wasn’t the only person she’s threatened to kill. D’Andra is over it already, saying that LeeAnne didn’t threaten her life. She wonders how much she can drink and still sit up straight in her chair. Cary asks why she says things like that; what happened to get her to that point? Brandi tells Cary it started with Cary’s comments about LeeAnne’s doctor at the tea, and we flash back to that. Brandi says it wasn’t first time Cary put down one of their doctors. Cary told Brandi that her doctor killed people. Cary denies saying that.

Brandi says she did say that, and they go back and forth half a dozen times. In her interview, Cary says she told Brandi that some doctors weren’t so good, but if she said he killed people, he probably did. She insists she that didn’t say it. In her interview, Cary says that Brandi got her amped up to fight, then bailed on her. Cary says that what Brandi told LeeAnne is a lie, and she made it up. Brandi says she didn’t. She says she called Stephanie, who confirms that Brandi was upset afterward. Cary says the only thing she told Brandi was to do her research. Brandi asks if Cary thinks she’s making this up, and Cary says yes. LeeAnne smiles into her wineglass.

Next time, a beach obstacle course, Brandi gets LeeAnne’s room key, and LeeAnne and Cary have it out.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Shahs of Sunset

MJ tells Tommy to never call again, and she’s going to get pregnant with someone else. She is seriously out of her mind. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to her. At least since I’ve been watching this show. She wakes up with him next to her though. He came back at midnight. She tells him that he was coming at her really hard. She wonders what happened to their decision, but he wants to make sure they’re ready. She asks if he sees neglect of love in her. she says they’ve been talking for a year and time is of the essence. She asks if he wants to make a commitment to being healthy, and he says yes, a commitment to being adults. Good luck with this. MJ starts to draw an affirmation board on the wall. She lists parenting class; diet and exercise; and sobriety. Tommy jokes that now she’s ruined it. She says she doesn’t want a bastard, and marriage comes before anything happens. I’m still puzzled that anyone uses that word, other than when cursing someone out, but then I remember she has Vida for a mother.

Mike goes to see his lawyer. He tells us that there’s a six-month process to end a divorce. He thanks the lawyer for making it as painless as possible. The lawyer tells Mike that everything is done, and they’re walking away with their own assets, waiving any future claims of alimony. In his interview, Mike says that for the first few years of the relationship, he and Jessica were on Cloud 9, and spent every day together. They had the wedding of their dreams, but anyone in a real relationship understands that there are trials and tribulations. We flash back to some of those, including Mike cheating. Mike says he can’t change the past; it’s done. He signs the papers. The lawyer says that it usually takes a couple of months to be finalized.

The gang travels to NYC to see GG’s play. When they get to the townhouse rental, Mike says that GG probably took the best room already, and Tommy suggests that GG has already peed in the corners to mark her territory. A concierge greets them, saying her name is Georgia. MJ asks if she can get some Chinese food. Mike says that him and this group of Persians are going to lose their sh*t in the city. GG and Shalom come downstairs. Everyone checks out their rooms. Mike breaks out the tequila. Reza and Adam are visiting a rabbi, and Mike thinks they should be married again, so it’s by an honest person. We flash back to Asa officiating at their wedding, and Mike brings up how Asa lied about her pregnancy. In his interview, he says him, GG, and MJ are on the same island; a friendship not based on trust isn’t a friendship.

GG says Shalom is supportive, but not thrilled that she’s going to kiss someone in the play, which he just found out. MJ asks if it bothers him – truth – but he’s saved by the doorbell. It’s a ton of Chinese food. Reza asks how they met, and Shalom says J-Date. Mike says that GG has dated nearly every nationality, so why not throw a Persian Jew in the mix, noting that he’s the best guy she’s dated. MJ toasts to GG being able to hear now. In his interview, Reza says she’s been trying to get her life in order, but she’s three seconds from biting someone’s head off. Mike says he’s going to drink them all under the table tonight.

Adam asks GG how she thinks Shalom is going to react. Tommy asks if he’s seen any of it, but he says he’s not going to be there. Adam thinks he should be more supportive, but he’s annoyed about her kissing another man, and decides to leave. Reza can’t believe it, and follows him upstairs, with MJ not far behind. He asks why Shalom is leaving. Shalom curses Reza and MJ out. Reza wonders why he’s freaking out, and reminds him that his name means peace. Mike says he’s jealous, and asks if GG’s ego is her amigo. He says it’s the way she protects herself, and she’s going to lose Shalom. He encourages her to talk to him. Reza asks if Shalom is crazy. Shalom gives us all the finger on his way down the stairs, and says he’s bouncing. GG can’t find her shoes. Reza wonders how the night went south so quickly.

Mike tries to get Shalom to come back in. He tells Shalom that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. GG says the entire play is about sex, and he’s known it the whole time. Shalom comes back in, and Mike says it’s just a show, but Shalom says it’s about money. He asks GG if she’s broke. She says what if she’s trying to pursue that kind of career. In her interview, MJ says that Persian men are jealous and overbearing, and a horrifying experience to try to live with. Either you have to live like a nun or don’t date a Persian. GG says it’s not about money. She found something she’s passionate about that keeps her sane. She’s been working hard at her acting; she’s not just an effing slut. Reza asks if there’s tongue involved. She says no, and Mike says maybe she should explain that. Shalom says he’s not a bitch on a leash; and he goes to bat for her. Mike says they’ve rallied behind him. Shalom says they’ve been his family, but he has family, and wants to go back to them. GG wonders why this is coming out now. He’d told her it wasn’t a problem.

Shalom says he left his family for the relationship. Reza says he’s lived it since he was a kid. His dad turned his back on his family, and he deals with sh*t like this from something that happened in Iran fifty years ago. He knows all about it. He talks privately with GG, and says it struck a chord. She says this came out of nowhere. MJ says neither one of them are being productive. This, coming from someone who was totally unreasonable just the night before. Tommy calls to MJ upstairs. She tells GG to do it the old-fashioned way, and tell him what he wants to hear. Reza calls it an old Persian trick. He suggests she tell Shalom that Saturday is her last night.

They go downstairs. Reza gets everyone else out, saying he has something to show them. GG asks what Shalom is talking about with his family. He tells her to keep his family out of it. She says there was no conversation. He won’t even look at her. In her interview, she says she’s put away her ego and stubbornness to be better for him, but he’s just another d*ck. She says he doesn’t respect her, and wonders what she did. He tells her she’s crazy right now. She tells him that he’s the person yelling at everyone and running down the street. She has a right to have a reaction. He says he does too. GG says she can turn it up, and starts getting loud, and saying bring it. She tells him that she’s better when people stand up to her. She say,s you wanna go, let’s go. Shalom heads for the door, and she tells him to do what he does best – run. She says he’s being evil, when she’s been nothing but nice. On his way out, he tells her good life. She tells him good luck with his. The door closes behind Shalom and his suitcase.

Tommy asks where they’re registering for gifts, making us all laugh. Reza asks Mike if he’s happy he’s single at moments like this. Reza thinks it’s easier dealing with another man. He won’t fight at that decibel, because he can say and do things he can’t take back. Adam sits with GG. He tells her that he’s sorry about the outcome, but applauds her for sticking up for herself. He says let’s talk about a bigger issue. What’s she going to do about the tattoo? She laughs. Everyone turns in. Reza is glad he’s not single. He says that sh*t is too much drama for anybody’s mama. Adam says so they’re going to do surrogacy, right? MJ tells Tommy that she appreciates him.

Shalom texts GG, saying they need to talk. She goes outside.

Reza says he’s a Persian alarm clock, doing that yodeling thing, and going into each room. Reza sees that GG isn’t alone, and asks what’s going on. She says she went to meet with Shalom. Adam asks if it’s him, and GG says no, it’s just a random guy. (She’s kidding.) Reza wonders how she got Shalom to come back. He says they’re seeing the rabbi, and want to lay out the plan for the day. When they gather downstairs, GG says that Shalom sent her a text to meet him in Times Square, and shows Reza her engagement ring. We see the proposal, and there were illuminated signs that says GG will you marry me? along with her photo. No surprise, it’s a gorgeous ring, a bedazzling diamond square, surrounded by smaller diamonds. Reza and MJ congratulate her. Tommy wanders downstairs, wearing red Christmas-themed pajamas. Reza demonstrates how GG should walk around with her ring prominently displayed. He tells Mike that they just went from DEFCON 5 to engagement. In his interview, Mike says this just might work. Reza says that he and Adam have to leave, but wants to meet afterwards. I would assume that Shalom planned this all along, since renting Times Square, including signage, probably has to be booked ahead. So did he stage the fight?

Reza and Adam go to the 6th Street Synagogue. They want to raise their kids Jewish, and are meeting with an orthodox rabbi. Reza wants their kids to have the structure he didn’t have. The rabbi says that life is a sacred journey. Adam asks if he has to convert. The rabbi tells him no, but it’s a different experience when shared. He says that Adam and Reza’s sensibilities are the same, and explains that a non-Jew is still given space in the community, and nothing will stop him from belonging. Reza talks about meeting with a surrogacy doctor, and the rabbi says he and his partner had children that way. It was a powerful way to be actively involved, as the body is a powerful space. Reza asks what to say when the kid asks who their mom is, and the rabbi explains says they told their children that they’d asked the biological mother to help them. He tells them a kid who’s loved is fine. Reza gets weepy, and says how grateful he is. The rabbi tells them that we care most about the things that are hardest, and difficulty shouldn’t be feared.

Everyone goes to a jewelry store. Mike wants his guy to give MJ a deal on a watch, since she’s the cheapest person ever. It’s a $10K watch, and she gets it for $7.5K. Mike says she’s valuing herself at a higher level, which means her life is progressing. She gets Tommy a watch too, and tells us she loves him more today than ever. That part of her looking for a reason not to believe in love, is gone. For lunch, they go to a restaurant called Hunt & Fish. Reza and Adam join them. MJ shows off her watch, and Reza is shocked. Mike shows them a picture of himself on his phone, where he’s loaded down with gold chains, saying he had a hip hop moment. MJ gives Tommy his gift. She says it’s symbolic of her telling him that she’ll always have time for him. Wonder how long it took for her to think that up?

Reza wants to run something by the group. He suggests hiring a party planner, and throwing a party to celebrate everything. He asks who Mike will bring, and he says his mom. He explains the different levels of having a relationship with a woman, and says that once they meet your friends, next thing is a double-date and you’re in the dating zone. It took him a year to introduce Jessica to his parents. MJ asks how she is. He says she’s cool, and GG says she saw her during her rehearsal period. Reza asks if they’re in a good place, and Mike says it’s awkward. They don’t know how to feel, but he’s always going to love her, and would always be there for her. In his interview, he says that for a year, he thought about what he would have given up to fix it. GG and MJ think that they’ll get back together. Reza tells Mike that whatever his decision is, they’ll embrace it. In his interview, Reza says that Mike is still in love with Jessica, and thinks he should try again. He can’t live with one foot in, and one foot out.

Next time, skating in the city, the Shahs go to Queens, GG performs, and Mike meets with Jessica.

Fear the Walking Dead

Everyone mills around the pantry. Alicia hands out something that looks like Gatorade. Madison tells someone to turn on the air. Alicia sees that Blake has a wound, and he quickly covers it up. Ofelia says there’s a problem. There’s no air coming through. She says they have to get out of there. I don’t know what’s up with this show, but again the background soundtrack is way too loud.

Troy buries Jake. He tells Nick that Jake was better than they are; that’s why he’s gone. Nick says that his brother is dead because of the mess brought down on them. If they die, it’s because they failed.

Alicia works on a calculation. She says they have two hours before carbon dioxide kills them. Crazy Dog says the best case is them dying from it. Alicia thinks they can buy time. Fewer people means less carbon dioxide, and some of them have been bitten. Crazy Dog suggests lice checking, but Alicia says they can’t force them. She says they’ll kill him if he tries to kill them, but he says they’re already dead.

Alicia gets everyone’s attention. She says they’re all scared. They don’t know what’s happening out there, and they’re less sure in here. The vent is broken, and their only airway is blocked. This means if they can’t fix it, they suffocate. The enemy isn’t what’s out there, but time. The more people who are in there, the less time they have. So, she’s asking for those bitten to come forward. There are no takers, and I laugh. Crazy Dog says it’s the hard way then, and stares at Blake. Blake lifts his shirt, showing the bite mark. Another guy comes forward, followed by a woman, and people start to stand up.

Nick tells Troy that there are too many of them. They need to create a way through them. Troy thinks they should blow up the fuel lines, distracting the zombies, and make a break for the pantry. Alicia gives Ofelia a gun, and asks if she’ll be okay up there. Ofelia says sure, and asks if Alicia will be okay down here. Ofelia climbs into the ventilation system.

Alicia looks at Blake, and he opens up a box of painkillers. He explains to the bitten people that it will knock them out. Alicia says, then you’ll be taken care of. Someone points out that there’s not enough ammunition. Another guy asks if they’ll be stabbed, and a woman starts crying. An older guy says he doesn’t feel so bad, and maybe the bite wasn’t that deep, reminding me of the Black Plague scene in Life of Bryan. The people start arguing, but Christine says that morphine is the best feeling in world. They’ll be in heaven before they get there. One of Walker’s men volunteers to go first. They go into another room. He lies down, and Alicia injects him. When he’s out, she stabs him. We don’t really see it, but it looks like it’s the base of his skull. She comes out crying, and drops the knife. Christine hands it back to her. She says that she knows it’s hell, but those people have done their part, and she has to do hers. They need her because she’s strong. Don’t break on them now.

Troy and Nick have decided to blow the fuel lines to distract the zombies. Nick shoots the line, and the zombies turn toward the smoke and fire, because they’re not super bright. Troy drives the truck through the horde. Heads roll, and blood drips from the windshield. Troy crashes the truck, T-boning a parked car, and he and Nick jump out, shooting and making a beeline for the helicopter. Somehow, they get inside, where Troy collapses with laughter.

Blake is last. He tells Alicia she has to do this now. He rolls up his sleeve. He tells Alicia that he’s sorry, and she says that it’s okay; it’s gonna be okay. She injects him. He slips away, and I wonder why they just didn’t let them overdose on morphine, and stab them as soon as they were dead?

Alicia comes back out, and everyone is staring at her, which I’m sure really helps things.

Ofelia crawls through the vent with Crazy Dog behind her. She tells him that they have to turn around, and go feet first. Apparently, turning around isn’t easy in a tight space, and is kind of like parallel parking in NYC. Crazy Dog starts banging on the side of the metal tunnel, and Ofelia tells him that he’s going to hyperventilate. She tells him to breathe, and counts. He begins to calm down.

Alicia says she shouldn’t have brought them there. Christine tells Alicia that her husband was in the first tower when it fell. She tied calling his cell over and over, because then there was a chance she might hear him again. Even when you’re hopeless, hope is all you have. Alicia has given them a few precious hours; there’s no shame in that. Christine says that she met her second husband in a support group; he was a first responder. He made her laugh. She says good sex is fine, but if they’re not funny, forget it. I agree. Alicia asks who brought her there, and she says it was her second husband, Jerry. Jerry was convinced the towers were the beginning of the end, and the ranch felt like a perfect fit. They spent their last years hiding from the world, when they could have been exploring it. She asks Alicia to promise her to never make decisions based on fear

Crazy Dog tells Ofelia that it hasn’t happened in a while, and he’s sorry. Ofelia says no need to be, and asks if he was in Iraq. He tells her yes, and she says her dad saw stuff that haunted him until the end. It’s the price you pay. He says his son was terrified of him, and he’d had an episode one of the last times he saw him. Ofelia asks if he’s ready.

Christine and Alicia talk about fun things they’ve done. Christine burned her bra at Woodstock. Alicia talks about a talent show at summer camp. She was supposed to sing This Land is Your Land, but when the music started, she froze and couldn’t remember the words. She looked out, and saw Nick’s face like he was living it with her. He ran up on stage, and forgot everything too, so he blasted out this land is your land over and over. Then after the twentieth time, he took giant bow, and everyone applauded and gave him a standing ovation. She says they loved him. Christine asks if they were close, and Alicia says when they were kids, but it changed. She looked up to him when she was young, more than anyone, even her dad. She starts to nod out, and sees that Christine is asleep. She tells her to wake up. She looks around, and everyone around them is sleeping. She gets up, but she’s groggy, and finds it hard to walk. Everyone is either asleep or on their way.

Zombies surround the helicopter. Nick runs the propellers, so there’s some nice slicing action, but some break the window. Troy says it’s quite a place to die, but Nick says they’re not dying.

Alicia talks to herself, while she struggles to look around. She drags herself to some steel shelving, and pulls herself up. She sees a ranch woman turned zombie, feeding, and it comes after her. She takes out the knife, and keeps pushing the zombie back, as she tries to get a better grip. The zombie gets her down – and falls on the knife. Um… she better get to whoever that one was feeding on. Yep, they’re all starting to stand up.

Ofelia and Crazy Dog continue on. Zombie sounds can be heard from outside. They finally reach the vent, but they’re both struggling not to pass out. Ofelia tells Crazy Dog to help her up. As she climbs, the zombies get louder. Crazy Dog passes out, and Ofelia falls, a zombie falling on top of her. I guess it was stuck in the vent. She keeps him at bay, and then shoots him. She starts to climb again.

Alicia is seriously outnumbered. She pushes the now really dead woman off of her, and kicks a zombie in the head. She stabs it, and fights another off. She calls for Christina, but she’s out, so Alicia quickly drags her out of the fray. I dunno. She looks dead to me. Alicia locks the gate behind them. She grabs a gun, and puts a cartridge in. As the zombies come toward them, she shoots them.

Troy tells Nick to choose, you or me, but something starts blowing up. The lights go out in the pantry, and sparks shoot out of the fixtures.

Troy tells Nick, you or me, choose, but something starts blowing up the lights go out in the pantry and sparks are shooting out of the fixtures. Alicia runs out, and zombies crowd her, but she throws them off left and right.

There are gunshots and zombies drop. The cavalry is here. Madison and crew arrive, along with Nick and Troy. Alicia tries to get Christine to wake up, but that’s a no. Walker tells Madison that they have to go or be trapped. Alicia stabs Christine in the head.

Looking out to the range, Madison says it could have worked. Nick says they got there before he and Troy did. Madison tells him that they have fuel enough to go where they need to – the trading post. They supply up, and can be at the dam by morning. Madison asks if Walker told Ofelia, but he says she’s still in shock. Madison tells her that her father is alive, and her to bring Ofelia back. Walker confirms that it’s true. Madison says that he thought Ofelia was dead and is desperate to see her. Madison says that they have to move, the explosions are attracting more. Alicia comes out, and I wonder why she looks like she desperately needs a shower, when Madison, Victor and Walker look fresh as daisies.

Madison and Nick hug Alicia. She asks where Jake is, and Nick shakes his head. I suddenly wonder if Alicia will end up being pregnant. She asks how, and Troy says that he was bitten, and had to be put down. She asks Nick where the horde came from. He doesn’t know, and says that Troy saw it coming and tried to warn them, but it was too late. Madison tells Alicia they’re leaving soon; they found Daniel at the dam. Alicia tells her to stop pretending. No place is safe. It doesn’t exist, yet they kill and die for it. She doesn’t have to choose Madison’s way. Victor says that there’s water and walls at the dam, so it’s the best choice. Walker tells them let’s move while it’s still daylight.

Alicia asks Madison to show her where they’re going on a map. Madison says they’ll be there by morning, and Alicia says she’s not going. Madison thinks that she’s still in shock, but Alicia says she’s seeing things more clearly than ever. Madison’s way doesn’t work, and won’t. She needs to find a way to live for herself, and she can’t do it running in fear, or with any of them. She’s not asking; she’s telling. Madison can’t force her to come. With rations and a weapon, she can survive. Jake showed her a place, but she needs to go there alone.

Walker starts the truck.

Alicia drives away. Nick asks Madison if he should follow, but Madison doesn’t want to lose them both. Nick says he’ll make sure she’s safe, and meet them. She won’t lose anyone. Madison tells him to take Troy along, and promise he’ll come back.

Madison gets in the fuel truck. We hear Woody Guthrie’s This Land is Your Land, as we see the pantry full of zombies and real dead. Everyone heads toward their respective destinations, and the song continues as we see the expanse of land.

Next time a ball pit full of zombies, Alicia sees someone, and Daniel asks #WhereIsOfelia.
