(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Shahs of Sunset – Reunion Part Two

I’m still trying to get over the fact Destiney was on People’s Couch and I didn’t realize it.

Asa asks Reza if he believes her about not getting IVF treatments to have her son. He does, but hates himself for having doubts. She says she and MJ aren’t friends like that. Shervin says Asa doesn’t reciprocate, and that’s why MJ is hurt. Asa insists MJ never wanted good for her, and crossed the line. We flash back to MJ not wanting to hug her after finding out she’s pregnant. MJ says she was shocked and disappointed that it was six months before any of them were included. Asa tells MJ she’s lost all respect for her. Reza tells Asa that she doesn’t understand MJ and what she’s been going through. MJ tells Asa about crocheting a blanket for baby Soltan, and Asa says, the bastard child. They break for lunch.

Backstage, Mike is upset, and GG says it seems like Asa hates them. MJ brings up Asa’s comment on racism, and Mike jokingly asks if she’s talking about him. Asa overhears and isn’t happy. GG asks for the paramedics. She’s having a panic attack, and says she just smoked some weed. She tells the paramedic how cute he is.

Back to the reunion. Andy says it was a season of new beginnings for GG. Her anger levels turned down, but not completely off. A viewer asks about GG’s sobriety. She says she was never practicing sobriety, and shows us her vaporizer. We flash back to her fight with her sister Layla on Thanksgiving, and GG says she can’t anymore. Mike doesn’t think the relationship can be healed – there’s been too much damage. We find out he’s hooked up with Layla in the past. Andy is surprised that Reza and GG reconciled. Reza says hating her was taking up energy and space in his head and heart, and was a lot of work. He either had to let it go or let her go. GG doesn’t think it would have happened if his friends hasn’t pointed out to him that she’d changed. Reza tells us that they were just in Palm Springs together. Now the song Layla will be my earworm for a while. You’re welcome.

We revisit GG getting her hearing aid. She didn’t know how deaf she was, but notices now when the batteries need to be replaced. Andy says by the time he found her wedding registry, he heard the marriage was over. Reza is willing to guarantee that there are relatives on Shalom’s side who didn’t want to go to the wedding, and that’s why they just had a civil ceremony. GG says she kept asking if he was sure things were cool with Shalom’s family, and he insisted it was. Andy asks where things are at now, and she tells him that they’re trying to get to know each other, since they didn’t before. Wow – that’s some ring. Andy reminds her that she has a Shalom tattoo, and she claims she doesn’t regret it, but talks about a fight they had and how she slashed the tattoo to show him that she didn’t care. Mike says that’s some serious sh*t. She says information came out that he’d been married before, and applied for a green card. A lot of people thought that was his reason for wanting to marry her. His ex was also on the reality show Dash Dolls about the Kardashian boutique.

Andy says, guess what? We invited Shalom here! GG is mad, and everyone is surprised. Shalom comes out, and Andy asks how he would define their relationship. He says they’re working on it and trying to figure it out. Andy asks if him snapchatting his abs to her was the deciding factor. and brings up the green card issue. Shalom says there are plenty of women he could marry for that reason, and they’d accept a cheaper ring. Andy asks if he’s attracted to women on reality shows, but he says his ex was only on one for about two weeks. We flash back to Shalom being upset about GG kissing her scene partner in the play. Shalom says it was really bad, and he apologized to everyone. He comes from Persian/Jewish family, and 90% were against him getting married. After a few drinks and people talking in his ear, he realized he had a proposal happening in Times Square. Asa says it was weird. Andy asks why they broke up, and Shalom doesn’t know. GG says whether it was true or not, the gossip was hurting her, but he only sees it from his point of view. She tells him that he got overbearing, and when they got married, she got a call from E! News, saying Shalom wanted to do a story. Shalom says one day she loves him, and the next, she hates him. Shervin asks why try again, and he says he still loves her. He’s confused about her feelings though. Andy points out they don’t have a prenup. Reza says he’s a good guy. He likes GG, but likes Shalom more. Mike says together they might be like oil and water, even if they’re both good people. GG says at this point they’re going to see if something is worth saving. They’re taking it one day at a time. Andy says the good news is, she’ll always have the tattoo. خداحافظ, Shalom. (That’s goodbye in Persian.)

They talk moms. Reza says Mike’s mom is more thug than all the rest put together. Andy ask if Mike relies on her too much, and he says he doesn’t have to. Reza adds that she’s omnipresent in his life. Andy asks why there’s an obsession with Mike’s dool and where it goes. Mike corrects that to where they think it goes, and says it started in Mexico, and never stopped. We flash back to MJ catching a glimpse of “Russel the love muscle.” Mike thinks it’s funny, and Reza says it’s like that one shady relative you have who’s always up to no good.

Andy reads a raise your hand viewer question, and tells them raise their hands if they think Mike is as much of a man whore as ever, but only Reza thinks so. Next, Andy asks who thinks he’s slept with Jessica in the past year. That would be everyone. Mike says it’s complicated. It’s sad, and he felt it ended prematurely because of how he treated her, but now he’s the better version of Mike. Andy asks if he’s seen the email Jessica sent to his mom, but he says no, and has never brought it up. MJ wonders why. He says his mom stepped in when Jessica lost hers. They had a connection outside of him, and it was between them. He doesn’t feel it’s his business. Reza thinks Jessica feels that if it’s not cool with his mom, it’s not cool with Mike. Mike says been divorced for about a year, and they’ve both dated. The whole thing broke his heart, and he cries when he watches the show. Andy asks what’s the number one thing he learned. Mike says a lot, but the main thing is you have to be open and honest in a relationship, and be present and real.

Adam joins the group – his first reunion. He and Reza just celebrated a year of marriage, and Andy asks what Adam thinks of the new Reza. He says he has more closet space since Reza lost weight. Andy asks who he’s closest to out of the friends, and Adam says Asa has become a close friend. She’s the one person who reached out to him after Thailand. GG says Reza has changed a lot. In the beginning, he was rebellious, but he’s calmed down. Mike says his tone is different, and the way he talks about Adam. He wants to be a better person because of Adam. MJ says he fights hard daily to make himself better. A viewer asks if he’s been faithful, and Reza says 100%. He did the don’t ask don’t tell in another relationship, and it didn’t work, but there might come a time for that conversation down the road. Andy points out how upset Adam was about Reza using the divorce card; he felt disposable. Ada says it brought up Thailand for him again, and was hurtful. It’s one thing to think it, but another to say it to your partner. A viewer thinks it’s weird that Reza compares being faithful to alcoholism, using the one day at a time credo. Reza says it helps him as a person who had infidelity in his life.

They discuss what religion their child will be, and Adam says he’s converting to Judaism. Andy asks if having a baby pings Reza’s commitment issues. Reza prays they’ll be together for the long haul, since he comes from a broken home. Adam says he plans for future, but it’s always one day at a time (the phrase of the night). Mike commends it, and loves them both.

Reza says they’ve decided on surrogacy, and adoption can be an option later. They sold their house in Palm Springs, and just closed on a new one, which is a surprise to everybody. Mike says that explains why Reza has been MIA. Reza says once they move in, they can deal with baby stuff. Mike is upset that he didn’t tell them, but he wanted it to be a surprise. Reza says now Mike knows how he felt about Asa’s pregnancy. Asa mentions she didn’t even know Mike had a company until she saw him with the shoes.

Andy tells us Asa’s reluctance to share was a sore point this season, but has bubbled up in the past. He asks about MJ being offended, and MJ says she’s been open, and it hurt her feelings that Asa wasn’t. Reza says as friend he gets it, but as for being a cast member on a reality show, it’s effed up. From that aspect, it bothers him. From friend aspect, he loves Jermaine, who never has negative word to say. Asa says he has his own right not to sign a contract. She tells them that she’s been open about financial struggles, and was labeled the poor one, even though that wasn’t exactly the case. That’s why people are rooting for her success now. GG says it’s a contradiction, how she claims she doesn’t want to get involved, but wants to know everything that happens with the others. She asks why Asa is on the show. Asa says it’s says amazing platform, and GG says the rest of them are bleeding for the world to see, and Asa should tell her facts. Asa continues, saying she has political and social convictions, and wants as many people as possible to see that. Mike thinks its all surface stuff. He has issues with her; she brings only superficial things to the show. Everyone talks at once, so I can’t understand what anyone is saying. Andy tells Asa that’s what she brings to the show, but why is she on the show. Asa says wants her voice heard, just like anyone else. Mike asks why make him sound like racist, instead of using the opportunity to talk about her interracial relationship? He loves her, but doesn’t like the person she became this season. She insists she’s taken the side of other cast members who have been ganged up on, and calls Mike a follower. He says he stands on his own, and asks why she’s continuing if she doesn’t want to show her life? Andy says she’s at a crossroads. Jermaine doesn’t want to be on the show or have Soltan on it, so where does she go from here? Asa tells him that her brain is on her baby, and she doesn’t know. Andy asks if she still cares about her friends.

Asa talks about looking at old videos of their travels, and getting sad. It was a difficult season, and she thought they weren’t happy for her. She believes in the future, and believes there’s hope, but has thinking to do. MJ says every time she bared her soul to Asa, it was her way of being a sister and forming a lifelong friendship. She says it sucks. Asa remembers beautiful moments, but MJ’s back stabbing and being two-faced deteriorated the friendship. If there’s no loyalty or respect, there’s nothing to build on. Mike is sad for the group thinks it will change after today.

Andy asks where they go from here, and Reza says if he and GG can get from where they were to where they are now, anything can happen. At the end of the day, they’re family, and should cherish their relationships. Andy says maybe Shervin’s girlfriend will be at the next reunion. Reza wants Shervin’s publicist’s number, since he did so well with his monologues. Andy hopes Reza and Adam will be pregnant by then; MJ as well. He wonders if GG and Shalom will still be together, and she says she’s a serial monogamist.

Asa says that some of the relationships are frayed, but her most important relationship is at home. She feels changed, being responsible for her son, who won’t eat unless she feeds him. Andy attempts to says something about them all being good friends in Persian. Reza toasts to all of them. Asa can’t leave fast enough.

Backstage, MJ says it was the dumbest day of her life. Reza asks if she thinks she and Asa will reconcile, but that’s a no. Asa tells Mike that she really doesn’t think he’s a racist, and changing her tune, GG thanks Shalom for coming.

🚑 Married to Medicine will be returning next Sunday at 10 pm.

The Walking Dead

We see close-ups of the main characters from Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Kingdom.

At an outpost, the Saviors work at getting their weapons in shape. Mara tries to call Little Roy on the radio, but there’s no answer. She finally reaches Todd, and tells him to lock the stairwell on every floor. A group led by Aaron zooms up in the reinforced trucks, and shoots everything up.

Another group, led by Jesus, sees a moat of zombies outside another outpost. Morgan says they just need the right timing. If the Saviors fire first, the rest will be alerted. He tells Diane not to give them time to fire a gun. One of the others asks Morgan if he needs to be covered, but he says he doesn’t die. Okay…

Carol and Ezekiel recover from the grenade that was lobbed at them last week. Zombies are pouring out of the clinic, and the group shoots, stabs, and axes them. Carol asks where the guy with the grenade went. If he tells the Saviors they’re here, it’s over before it started. Ezekiel is confident that’s not going to happen, and they’ll find him. Their comrades are back to the staging area, and will release Shiva if necessary. He claims certain victory, and Carol looks impressed.

Aaron and his group continue shooting the place up. Aaron is really into it. Rick and Daryl get inside with a small group.

Morgan teases the zombie barricade. Two guards walk toward them to see what’s going on. Diane shoots them in the head with arrows.

Jesus, Tara, and some others go in with Morgan. Diane whistles, and the rest come in silently. Tom says kill the bitches is written on the wall. Wtf? They spread out. Morgan hears someone talking. He waits outside the door, telling the other guys with him to hold up.

Rick looks at the map. Daryl says upstairs. He kicks open a door.

Mara says the Alexandrians are too chicken sh*t to move in, and tells the Saviors to push them back. There’s lot of machine gunning, and Aaron says don’t let them through. He tells his group to move in.

Morgan and two other guys bust into a room, shooting the first guy they see. Several men pop out from behind him, and shoot them. I go, what?! because I wonder why Morgan wasn’t faster on the draw.

Daryl and Rick climb on top of an elevator cab and go to another floor. Rick says they’d be faster if they split up.

Tara and Jesus find a man alone in a room. He begs them not to shoot him. He starts sniffling, saying his name is Dean, and Tara points out he peed his pants. Tara wants to shoot, but Jesus tells her to wait; the man has his hands up. She says they have a job to do. They hear shooting, and Jesus tells her to check it out while he covers Dean.

Diane tells Tara to be ready. They don’t know if Morgan is alive. Dean tells Jesus that he’s just a worker, brought from the Sanctuary to cook and clean; he had to leave his wife and kids. Jesus tells Tara that they don’t want to hurt the workers. He’s not shooting someone with their hands up or letting her. She sees Maggie’s prenatal vitamins, and says they stole medical supplies from Hilltop just because they could. Dean takes this opportunity to grab Jesus’s gun from him, and get him in a hold. Dean tells them it’s hard to piss yourself on purpose. He crushes the vitamins, and says they’re ruined, like that dumb bitch Maggie. She’s just going to die anyway, like they are, but for now, he’s taking them with him for an insurance policy. Dean keeps talking, and apparently never saw The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, where Tuco says, “If you have to shoot, shoot, don’t talk.. While he’s babbling, Jesus gets his gun back, and ties him up. Tara still wants to kill him, saying it’s not about revenge, it’s about getting the job done, but he won’t let her, insisting Maggie will listen to him.

Diane asks Jesus if there’s another way out, and he says to follow him. It looks like Morgan is dead. Nope, not quite. The armor pieces he’s wearing saved him. He sits up, grabs his gun, and runs to catch up.

Gunfire is still happening outside. Mara realizes it’s not good for them, and one of the dead Saviors attacks her, biting out a piece of her throat.

Ezekiel’s group is in the woods looking for grenade guy. Carol says if he made it back, the Saviors know they’re coming. Ezekiel says they’ll be ready regardless. Carol asks him if he knows that it’s not just a few walkers. He says he does, yet still smiles. She asks why, and he says he has supreme confidence. His job is to project certainty. In other words, fake it till you make it. It’s what he’s done and does; he leads people forward in darkness. Carol says they might not make it or win, but Ezekiel has no fantasy of failure this day. They move forward as they move the very world forward.

Daryl sneaks around with his crossbow. I wonder how hard It must be to be sneaky with a crossbow. Props to him. He looks into a room, and sees the remains of food and handcuffs attached to a pipe. He slides back out. Rick goes down another way, and looks in a bedroom that’s empty. Suddenly a dude comes out of nowhere, and punches him out. Rick tries shooting him, but dude is too fast. Rick kicks him in the face, and he slams Rick against a wall. Rick gets him in a chokehold, and asks where they are. Dude says there are no guns. He struggles free, and Rick piggybacks him, continuing to choke him. He sees a hook on he sees a hook on the wall and impales the guy on it. Like Billy did with that guard in Midnight Express, except it’s through his eyeball.

Morgan goes through the building, shooting anything moving.

Jesus and his group circle around the back. He tells them not to shoot right away, but Diane says if they shoot first, someone dies. A Savior opens a big garage door. Jesus tells him to drop his gun and surrender. He does since there’s fifty of them to his one, but his back up comes out, and he tells them to put their guns down; they’re surrounded. Tara tells Jesus that even if Maggie listens to him, Rick will listen to her. All the Saviors lower their weapons.

Morgan keeps shooting people. I assume it’s people; we don’t actually see what he’s shooting. He looks supremely pissed. He comes out into the sunlight, and walks toward the others. In his head, he hears Rick saying, we have to come for them, before they come for us. Where there’s life, there’s possibility.  Morgan walks up to a Savior who says he knows him, and asks if he was transferred too. It’s the dude who took Morgan’s staff, and killed Benjamin. Morgan is about to shoot him, and Jesus tells him to lower the gun. Morgan says they came here to kill them; they’re supposed to. Jesus says they surrendered; it’s not what we do, and Morgan asks, what do we do? And in my head, I think, do-be-do-be-do.

Rick goes back out into another room. It’s a nursery, complete with a baby sleeping in a crib. Rick shakes his head, and I wonder if the guy he killed is her father. Rick gets all weepy like he does on occasion, and I say, there’s no time for that now, Rick. He sees himself in the mirror, and walks away.

Carol sees blood on a leaf, and they follow the trail. Is there a hairdresser in the group? Carol’s hair looks fabulous. Ezekiel says, there! and starts to run. He stops and lowers his gun. He says their friends have arrived. We see Shiva take a man down up ahead.

Aaron’s group isn’t done yet. There’s still tons of shooting going on. How many freaking people do they have? Aaron’s husband, Eric, gets shot. Aaron ducks down and runs to a car. He gets in and floors it to Eric. He asks if Eric is okay, and Eric shows him the gunshot wound. Aaron helps him out of there. Hard to tell if he’ll make it.

Ezekiel says there it is, our certain victory. He’s not glad for anyone’s death, and Carol says she knows. Knight dude, whose name I don’t remember, holds out the radio. The Saviors know they’re coming. Knight dude says the jig is up. Ezekiel says no; their journey won’t end in retreat. Knight dude says, but they know we’re coming, and Ezekiel says, indeed they do. He raises his sword and laughs. Carol smiles. Yeah, he’s cooler than cool. He’s one of my reasons for sticking with the show. Him, and Negan. And peer pressure.

Rick looks in another room. He looks at a photo, and says, dammit!  A man walks in with a gun, and tells Rick to keep his hands down, and turn around slow. The man says, hi, Rick, and Rick says, Morales. Rick says he was in Atlanta. Morales says it was a long time ago. It’s over. He called the Saviors back, and they’re coming.

We see close-ups of everyone’s faces again, like in the beginning. Everyone looks tired, but Ezekiel is still smiling. Carol is too, as much as Carol smiles.

Morales cocks his gun.

Next time, Ezekiel says their first victory will deliver the second, and the second will deliver the third. They will not lose one of their ranks. That is one optimistic guy.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Griff tells Dante about the potential threats at the party.

At the Floating Rib, Felicia explains to Mac that she told Anna they need to kick the tires of her new relationship, and she’s holding Finn’s takeout hostage until he answers questions. Mac thinks it’s not going to last. Anna likes to cut loose, and is a committed agent. He doesn’t think Finn can keep up with her. As they walk in, Anna criticizes Finn for wearing a tie. She says she doesn’t like this any more than he does, and stick to the truth as much as possible. It’s a stretch for her too, but they have to put on a show.

Cassandra waits at the docks. Valentin meets her. He says the cavalry has arrived.

Andre tells Franco there was a kernel of truth in what Betsy said. Andrew died when he was a child. The death certificate proves it.

Sonny encourages Real Jason to tell Sam who he is.

Dante tells Ava and Griff to pretend they’re having a good time, and ignore the thugs. Dante asks Other Jason if he knows anything, but he’s not aware of who they are. Dante says to tell the big guy with the beard he’s doing a bad job, and he’ll take care of ponytail.

Beard and Ponytail draw their guns, and say everybody down. Dante tells Ponytail to drop the gun. A shot is fired. Beard comes up behind Dante, and tells him to drop gun or someone dies. Dante does. Ponytail throws him on the floor. Elizabeth realizes she’s shot.

Carly sends a text on her iPad. Ava tries to call 911, but Beard catches her. Ponytail wants Sam to collect the cell phones. Nina helps Elizabeth to stop the bleeding.

Sonny tells Real Jason it’s going to shock Sam no matter when he tells her. Real Jason says it’s going to blow her life apart. Sonny says she deserves truth, and so does he. Other Jason thinks he’s Jason, and probably has another life somewhere. Sonny get’s Carly’s text. For all her typing, all it says is 911. He tells Real Jason to get his gun.

Andre tells Franco it’s ethically murky to insert himself into a patient’s life, but this time it was worth the risk. Franco doesn’t believe it. Andre says he couldn’t find it because he was looking for Andrew Frank. It was filed under his mother’s maiden name, Moore. He understands the depth of Betsy’s lies, but now Franco knows the truth and can let it go.

Felicia wants to know how they came to be more than friends. Anna says it was unexpected. Finn says he was caught off guard when she said she had her eye on him. She pursued him like a tiger in the Serengeti. I literally lol. Anna goes along with it, and Finn says she dragged him kicking and screaming into the relationship. She says he can’t get enough of her now, and he says everyone has their limits. Felicia hopes they never find them.

Cassandra is glad Valentin came to his senses. He says he wouldn’t leave her high and dry, and gives her a list of people. She says she wanted him to come on board, not be her headhunter. He says he vetted each one himself. She tosses them away, making a dismissive remark about each one. She says none of them are up to the task. They don’t have Valentin’s skills or knack for getting away with crimes. She wants the best, and only he will do.

Finn asks how Felicia and Mac met. He says it’s a long story, but she adds with a happy ending, and they’ll have one too. Mac say if they can find time for each other. Anna says they make do. Felicia asks what they like to do. They talk about what Anna likes, and find out they don’t have much in common, but Felicia says opposites attract. Mac thinks they must have one common interest. Anna says they have the same beliefs. Good people have a responsibility to act against injustice; too many people are apathetic. She says him finding the cure for Blackwood’s Syndrome makes him a hero. Mac and Felicia go to the bar to get drinks, and Finn and Anna agree they’ve both been paying attention to one another.

Valentin is flattered, but tells Cassandra he already explained why he can’t help her. Cassandra heard it the first time, but says she failed to adequately present the operation. She presented it as an offer, but he has no say.

Franco tells Andre that he can’t drop it. His mother lied over and over. The last thing she told him was that she dropped Andre off alive. Andre says he can believe the physical evidence. Franco says if she didn’t want him to know, there must be a reason. Maybe he caused it; maybe he killed him on the stairs. Andre tells him to check again. The cause of death is heart failure. Andre says Andrew’s not gone because of him. He’s just gone.

Cops are all over the MetroCourt. Real Jason tells Sonny he’s going upstairs, and Sonny outmaneuvers them and gets in the elevator. On the phone, Klein’s henchman tells him what happened, and Klein says they need to use the fail-safe; get the woman out.

Sam is still collecting phones. She throws one, and Jason grabs Beard, punching the crap out of him. Ponytail grabs Carly. Jason puts Beard to sleep with some kind of Vulcan grip.

Real Jason looks through skylight, and sees Ponytail with Carly. Ponytail says anyone who moves, dies; they’re leaving. Sonny says that’s his wife, and he has a long reach. No matter where Ponytail runs, he can find him. He asks if Ponytail wants to be dead. His other choice is putting the gun down, getting on his knees, and asking for a lawyer. Wow. He does. Sonny is good. Sonny tells Dante that Ponytail is all his. everyone starts to get up. Carly asks where the hell Sonny’s been, and he says she won’t believe it. Real Jason ponders on the roof.

Mac gets defensive with Finn, saying that Anna might as well be his sister; he raised her daughter. Finn says Anna thinks world of him; he’s her hero. Mac says one of them anyway. Felicia says Ann they’ll have a full debrief later, but for the time being, Finn gets a solid B. He’s a bit of a fixer-upper and needs dance lessons. Anna says it probably won’t last; she’s just being realistic. Felicia says her world-weary veneer masks the heart of a romantic. Anna says she hasn’t had much luck lately with men. Felicia thinks that’s because she’s been fixated on Valentin. Now she’s back on track, and can open her heart again.

Valentin tells Cassandra that he welcomed her to his town, patiently explained his position, and generously found those who can help her. Now she’s threatening him. She says if she wasn’t his friend, she might have acted on this. She hands him a folder.

Beard and Ponytail are in custody. Dante says take garbage out of here. Griff tells Elizabeth it’s not serious. Other Jason carries her out. Monica says this was more exciting than she bargained for, and Sam says she’s sorry. Monica asks why, since she didn’t invite a couple of lunatics to terrorize them. Sam needs to do damage control. Klein’s henchman says the woman is still here, but Ponytail and Beard have been arrested.

Carly tells Dante that she checked their references. Dante says that Griff recognized them from Russia. They were chasing someone associated with Jason. She has no idea who they are. Klein’s henchman grabs Sam, telling her no sudden moves. Real Jason sees him through the skylight. Henchman says they’re leaving, and injects her. She gets groggy. Real Jason busts out the window panes, and jumps down in slow motion. Everyone is like wtf??? He draws his gun. Carly is like, whoa, and Sonny gives a sidelong look.

Henchman runs with Sam. Carly’s mouth hangs open.

Valentin asks where Cassandra got this. She says it fell into her lap. Whose lap it falls into next depends on him. He asks why he should care, and she tells him denial doesn’t look good on him. The photo will never go anywhere if he cooperates. Nina calls, telling Valentin she’s at the MetroCourt, and he needs to get there now. The police might not let him up, so wait in the lobby. He’s like, what? and she says, just please come.

Finn gets call, and has to go to the hospital. Mac says he can’t escape them now that he’s dating Anna Felicia asks if they’re going to kiss goodbye, and Mac says they’re not trained seals, but she doesn’t want them holding back on their account. Finn and Anna kiss. Anna leans in a little more than necessary, and smiles as he leaves. Well, he is pretty cute.

Andre says Franco has a lot to process, and they’ll talk again. Franco understands his mom wants to protect him, but wonders why she kept changing her story. He asks if she’s crazy. Andre says it’s not a word he likes to use, and he doesn’t diagnose people he’s never met. Franco says she’s crazy. Andre tells him part of her feared him being taken away, and the damage is still reverberating; he’s feeling it too. He tells Franco to stay away for now. She’ll only spin a new story. Even though her intentions are good, she’s not doing him any favors; he has enough anxiety as it is. Other Jason comes in with the EMTs and Elizabeth on a gurney. Franco follows.

Carly asks Sonny wth? He says they’ll get into it later. The first priority is Sam. Dante wants the security footage. Nina asks who the guy is who came through the skylight, and Monica says ask Sonny.

Monica says they all saw the same thing, and Sonny is hiding something. Dante goes to look at the footage in Carly’s office, and asks Sonny to come with him. Sonny tells Carly that Sonny knows something. She says he usually does, but more important, someone has to tell Other Jason about Sam.

Ava also arrives at the hospital. Griff says Elizabeth will be fine. Her injury looked worse than it was, and she’ll have a full recovery. Franco wonders how someone gets shot at a corporate party, and asks Other Jason if it has something to do with him. Andre listens in. Other Jason tells Franco what happened, and asks why Griff and Ava were there.

Andre tells Klein that Elizabeth Webber was shot at the party. Klein says so what? He wanted Patient 6 handled, and that’s’ what they’re doing. The henchman brings Sam to the docks.

Dante asks Sonny who he came into the lobby with. It’s the same guy who came through the skylight. He knows who it looks like. Sonny says he’s wasting time questioning him; they need to find Sam.

Klein’s henchman tells him that Patient 6 broke through the skylight. Klein says they have leverage now. The henchman says Beard and Ponytail were arrested, and their contractors, not true believers. They’re going to tell everything they know. Klein says they’ll be gone before anyone can find a trail. Real Jason appears and tells him he has one chance to live. Let her go and walk away.

Anna tells Felicia sorry about the abrupt ending. Felicia says that’s okay; they can do a post mortem. Mac says he seems like a nice enough guy. Felicia tells Mac that he was rough on Finn, and Anna says he was hostile. Mac says he sets a high bar for anyone interested in her. Felicia is surprised Finn cleared it in hour. Mac says he’s not the guy he’d expect Anna to be with, but he’s a good guy, and cares about her. She could do worse. Great endorsement. Felicia thinks he’s a keeper.

Valentin gets to the MetroCourt, and Nina hugs him. He asks what happened. She tells him Elizabeth was shot, and Sam was kidnapped. Elizabeth is at the hospital, and Griff said she’ll be okay. Nina starts to cry, and says the blood on her hands is Elizabeth’s; she tried to stop the bleeding. She just wants to go home. She asks what kept him, and he flashes back to his meeting with Cassandra, and her telling him that she made a new acquaintance; a talkative one. We see the photo and a copy of a headline, but I have no idea what it’s about. Valentin tells Nina it’s all taken care of.

Finn tells Elizabeth that once her blood is replaced, she’ll be fine. He tells Franco she needs to rest, so make it brief. Franco tells her that he hates parties, and he’s sorry; he should have gone. He’s going to check on the boys and then come back.

Ava and Griff decide to say nothing about Patient 6. Griff says he has other things on his mind, like what he’d do if something happened to Ava. He doesn’t want to find out. He hugs her.

Sonny tells Dante to look at the footage, and find Sam. Dante tells him to stay out of police business. When Dante is gone, Carly asks Sonny wth is going on, and who was that man?

Monica tells Other Jason that when he left, something else happened. The men weren’t alone, and whatever is going on isn’t over. Franco overhears.

Real Jason says he doesn’t care what happens to Klein and his henchman. Just walk away. The henchman acts like he doesn’t want to be involved, and walks past with his hands up, but pulls a gun, and Real Jason shoots him.  He tells Klein it’s his last chance; let her go. Klein says he can’t shoot him; he’ll hit Sam. Real Jason says no he won’t. Klein tells him that he can kill him or save her, not both. He throws Sam in the water and runs.

Other Jason finds out Sam has been abducted, Carly says whoever that is isn’t Jason, and Griff and Ava need to escape.

🎃 Due to Halloween festivities beyond my control, that’s all she wrote today. If they’re On Demand tomorrow, I’ll catch up with Once Upon a Time and Z Nation with an extra post.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Nelle asks if the car is waiting. Michael says they’re not going anywhere.

The launch party begins. Molly says it’s amazing. Both David and TJ couldn’t make it, but Molly is glad Alexis is seeing David. Alexis insists they’re just friends, and Molly amends it to being glad Alexis is putting Julian behind her. Alexis says right now she’s here for her daughter. She wishes Kristina could have been there. Molly says no drama tonight, before Alexis can go off on a tangent about Kristina moving to Oregon.

Elizabeth asks if she can convince Franco to go. He says Sam and Jason will be glad not to see him. She asks if that’s the real reason.

Andre says Patient 6 should have never made it to Port Charles. Klein says he wasn’t informed of his skill set. The longer he’s there, the longer someone has to find out the truth, but it’s being taken care of as they speak.

Griff tells Ava about meeting Patient 6 at the church, and the men who were after him. He says they could be problem for other people, including Avery’s dad. He thinks they should call police, and Ava asks what would they say? There’s a guy running around with Jason’s face? Griff says they can tell the police what they do know. Ava tells him absolutely not.

Sam and Other Jason arrive. He tells her it’s the first day of the rest of their lives (yeah, he’s definitely not the real Jason), and nothing is going to stop them. Carly urges Thug #2 to circulate with the drinks. Sam tells Carly that she outdid herself. Carly says it’s a big night for them, and she wants it to go off without a hitch. A sure sign that hitches will be everywhere.

Real Jason thanks Sonny for believing him. Sonny wanted to believe him sooner, but Real Jason says he knows Sonny had to use discretion. Sonny says there’s a lot riding on it; his business and his family. He trusts Real Jason 100%. He says there’s no question about Carly’s loyalty, but her judgement sucks. He can’t believe it, and says when Carly sees him, she’s going to lose her mind. Her Jason, their Jason, alive.

Nelle asks Michael if this is about Jason’s party, but he says he knows the truth about the tickets. Nina didn’t pull strings; she had no idea about them. He says Nelle wanted him to choose between the party and her. Nelle is surprised he thinks she’d buy them just to manipulate him. He asks why she told his mom they’re moving in together.

Andre tells Klein it’s not that simple. Jake Webber saw Patient 6, and he can deal with that, but Franco won’t be easily convinced. Klein says he has something to throw him off the scent, and gives Andre an envelope.

Elizabeth wonders why Franco is suddenly concerned with Jason’s feelings. Franco says it’s his night. Jason learned to tolerate him, but really doesn’t want him around. Elizabeth realizes they’ll never be friends, but appreciates them putting aside their differences for Jake’s sake. She tells him she won’t be late, and they kiss.

Griff knows Ava has a strained relationship with the police, but they’re the people best equipped to deal with it. Since it started in Russia, he thinks maybe they should call Anna. Ava tells him to think about what they know. They don’t know how he got there, and he might have come in illegally. She thinks he has trouble enough without them creating more.

Sonny doesn’t know where to start catching up. Real Jason tells him about seeing Elizabeth with a little boy in the park. She referred to him as Cam’s brother, but he was too old to be Aiden. He said Jake’s name, and the boy asked who was there. He asks Sonny if it was Jake. Sonny tells him yes, and he’s stunned that his son is alive. He asks how?  He was there. Jake was brain-dead. Sonny tells him it was staged by Helena. It’s a long story, and Sonny needs another drink. He says no matter what happens next or how messy it gets, welcome home.

Nelle says she never told Michael’s mom they were moving in together. Michael says she had just been talking about it that morning, and asks if it’s a coincidence. Nelle says Carly kept going on about how he bought the apartment for her, and she didn’t want to deal with it. She said first thing that came into her mind. He tells her to stop lying. She says she should have been honest, and she did buy the tickets because of the party. She didn’t want to face Carly. Nelle says no harm done; they can go to the party, and she’ll come clean. He says it’s too late. Her games don’t work.

Carly tells Alexis that Sonny is late, and he wanted to be there for the announcement.

Sonny tells Real Jason that Helena staged the accident to screw with Luke. She needed Jake to die, and sent him to the island. She either drugged him or messed with the monitors, but Jake didn’t die and wasn’t harmed. Real Jason asks about Josslyn. Sonny says that Jax bought her a kidney, but that’s a story for another time. He wants to talk about good things. Jake is alive and well, and so is Josslyn. Real Jason says that Jake was held on Cassadine Island, and wonders if Sam’s husband was there. Sonny says he was held in a clinic as well, and Robin helped him escape. He tells Real Jason to take another sip. This crazy day is going to get even better. Robin is alive too.

Nina tells Other Jason and Sam that she can’t wait to collaborate with them. Sam says ditto. Nina says creativity is one thing; the budget is another. Other Jason say’s they’ll discuss it, but tonight is the party. Thug #2 watches them.

Ava tells Griff that since he hurt her feelings, she has a way he can make up for it. Take her to the launch party. He wonders why she wants to go. She says she had no interest at first, but thinks there’s a good chance Patient 6 will be there. Even if he isn’t, Sonny will be, and she wants to find out about the note. Griff says they survived the Russian clinic of doom; how hard can this be?

Dante tells Other Jason that Lulu couldn’t come, but wants him to know how impressed he is. He knows what it cost for him to put his family first. Sonny never made that choice, but he’s glad Other Jason did. Other Jason says his wife and kids are the most important things in his life. Alexis tells Sam that she looks like a self-possessed media mogul. Sam says when they make the announcement, she’ll be looking for them. Molly takes a selfie of the three of them. Alexis is sure Parker will enjoy it, because she just can’t leave it alone. Quickly changing the subject, Molly says she had no idea Jason paid attention to media or pop culture. Sam says they’re learning as they go. Alexis is proud of them, and says it’s admirable that Other Jason put his family first.

Sonny tells Real Jason about how Robin and Patrick live in Berkeley now, and just had a little boy. With all the turmoil, pain, and loss, she survived and she’s happy. Real Jason says she deserves to be happy. Sonny says coming back wasn’t easy for her, and it won’t be easy for him either.

Monica notices the cufflinks on Other Jason, and he says it’s like his blessing. She knows Alan is smiling down. He jokes that instead of bragging that he’s a doctor, she can brag about him owning a media company.  She says that’s not important. All she’s wanted is for him to be happy. It took her a long time to learn not to control the boy she remembers raising. She treasures him being back in her life, and is never letting him go again.

Griff and Ava arrive. He tells her how beautiful she looks, and Carly immediate accosts them, wanting to know what they’re doing at the party.

Andre asks how Klein managed to produce this. Klein says it doesn’t matter. Show it to Franco, and it will end his questions. Andre says he’s borderline obsessive, and if he pursues it further, he could find out the truth. Franco busts in, saying he needs to talk to Andre, and asks who Klein is. Um… none of his business?

Nelle tells Michael that she’s not playing games. He says she can’t help herself. She hasn’t had an honest moment; nothing that wasn’t calculated for effect. She says Carly and Bobbie have made her life hell, and make everyone think the worst of her. Michael says she does that to herself. He says he can’t live life like this, and doesn’t think he can do this anymore. She asks if he’s breaking up with her.

Andre tells Franco that he’s with a patient. Franco suggests just tacking more time on to the next appointment, but Andre says that’s not how it works. Klein says he thinks they had a breakthrough, so it’s cool. Franco tells Andre that Jake saw a man in the park who looked like old Jason. Andre says he can’t confirm or deny anything Jake told him. Franco says this means Andrew is still alive.

Griff tells Carly they need to speak to Sonny. She says he has no use for the woman who caused Morgan’s death, and Griff is wasting his time going to bat for her. They can see themselves out.

Sam tells Other Jason if they succeed or fall, they’ll do it together. Carly says it’s showtime, and introduces them as the new owners of Derek Wells Media. Other Jason says public speaking isn’t his forte, but sometimes life gives you the opportunity to evolve. He says that Derek Wells Media has changed hands, but the goals are the same – to connect the people of the world. It’s a new vision, and the dawn of a new day. From now on, the company will be called Aurora Media.

Real Jason asks what Sonny knows about Sam’s husband. Sonny says it turns out not much. Real Jason asks why he thought it was him, aside from the DNA. Sonny explains how he was Jake Doe, and he didn’t like him at first, but Carly did. He got involved with Elizabeth, and was with her when Jake came home; he and Jake are very close. Carly was fixated on knowing who he was, and Spinelli reconstructed his face on the computer to show how it looked before the accident. It looked like him. They did a DNA test, and Robin confirmed she helped him escape. Real Jason asks if there’s any chance he was in on it with Helena, and in on it the whole time.

Michael thinks it’s best he and Nelle spend some time apart. She says he is breaking up with her. She can’t believe he’s ending it over some tickets. He says it’s irreconcilable differences. This is just the latest example. Every time he turns around, he catches her in another lie. In the end, it doesn’t matter; there’s nothing real between them. He can’t trust her. Nelle says she didn’t expect to fall in love with him when she went after his parents. Michael says it has nothing to do with them, and asks if she’s always been like this. How many lies did she tell the Grants? That’s probably why they’re suspicious. She asks if he thinks she killed her fiancé.

Other Jason defers to Sam to explain the name change. She tells the guests that they were considering leaving Port Charles a year ago. Along the way, they fell in love with a town called Aurora. The name means “new dawn.” It turned out they didn’t have to leave for a new home, because home was there with all their friends, family, and people they care about. She hopes they can have their own aurora every day, and with the new name bring a new dawn. Not just to them and the company, but for all of them as well. Wow. She expects a lot. The thugs circulate.

Griff tells Ava that he knows those guys. They came to the church looking for Patient 6.

Andre says he understands that Franco wants Andrew to be alive, but he’s latching onto the imagination of a young boy. Franco says there has to be connection.

Klein meets a man on the docks. He tells the man he needs a contingency plan, and that’s why he contacted him.

Sonny says Other Jason isn’t involved. He didn’t want to be Jason. When he gave in, and accepted it, he distanced himself from the life Jason made. He saved Sonny’s life, but continued to keep a distance. He loves Sam, and wanted to build something legit. He keeps thinking Sonny wants him back, but he doesn’t want to fight him on it. Real Jason says, so he doesn’t know yet.

Michael doesn’t believe that Nelle killed Zack, but says they have nothing real without trust. He doesn’t trust her and he can’t do this. He gives her key back, and says the super has a spare. Call him if there are any problems. She can’t believe he’s doing this; he said he loved her. He says he loved the person she said she was, but he’s not sure that person existed. He leaves, and Nelle looks sick.

Alexis tells Sam to work the room. She and Molly leave. Other Jason and Sam mingle. Ava and Griff approach Dante. He says he has nothing to say to Ava, but Griff says there are two men here that pose a threat.

Klein asks if the man is clear on the operative, and he says, crystal. Klein tells him good, get it done, and gives him a syringe.

Andre tells Franco if Jake overheard him discussing Jason’s twin with Elizabeth, it could have fueled his imagination. Franco says he’s not talking to Elizabeth about it unless he has proof one way or another. Andre gives him the envelope, and says this is the proof he’s looking for.

Sam wonders why Ava is there, and Other Jason thinks she might want to talk to the reporters, since the company had belonged to Julian. They decide to pretend she doesn’t exist, and avoid a public argument.

Dante asks Griff if they’re sure. Griff says it’s complicated, but they’re looking for ties to Jason. He tells them not to do anything obvious; pretend they’re having a good time. Dante tells Other Jason that they might have a problem.

Sonny can’t wait to tell Carly, but Real Jason stops him. She’ll want him to walk in and take it all back, but he needs to protect Sam. He has people after him, and can’t just dump this on her. They’re happy. Sonny says Sam thinks it’s him, and is probably going through the same thing. She wants to connect, and does on a certain level, because he’s a good guy with good intentions. But Real Jason came through for them thousands of times without question, and he can’t do that. Real Jason needs to go to Sam and tell her that he’s alive. Is it me, or is Sonny sounding selfish here?

Dante tells Other Jason that Griff identified two bartenders as possible gunmen, but he has no time to get into it. He tells Jason to take aside the big guy, and tell him he’s doing a bad job. Dante will take care of the one with the ponytail. He’ll flash his badge and ask to see his license.

Too late. The thugs draw their guns, and say, everybody down. Dante tells Thug #1 to drop his gun.

Tomorrow, Andre tells Franco he knows the truth now, Cassandra wants the best, and Sonny goes to the party with Real Jason.

October 22, 2017 – A Shah Reunion, a Dead Return, Random TV Thoughts & Creepy Costumes

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Shahs of Sunset – Reunion Part One

As usual, the venue is gorgeous, an old Hollywood theater, and there’s an incredible spread of food. Andy asks the Shahs who would play each of them in a movie, and everyone is totally unrealistic, except for Shervin, who says Kahl Drago from Game of Thrones (Jason Momoa). He doesn’t have the body, but damn if he doesn’t look like him. Reza has lost his mustache and forty-three pounds. We see before and after pictures. Andy asks who has had work done, and MJ finds that offensive. Asa says people are open about what they want to be open about, and insists MJ’s lips are not her own. GG and Mike start arguing, and Andy moves on.

He asks how Asa is enjoying motherhood, and she says it’s magical and difficult. We don’t get any photos though, because Jermaine wants to be private about that. She’s hoping to Instagram some in the future. There haven’t been any playdates yet, but Janet Jackson and Asa’s babies are only two weeks apart, so she expects it will happen. She says her relationship being bi-racial caused extra conversation. Mike says Asa turned his inquiry about getting married into something else. MJ wonders why Asa can’t just answer questions honestly. Mike says she went on a social media rant about racism, and isn’t the righteous person she claims to be. He thinks she’s hyper-sensitive, but she says she’s just more aware. Mike didn’t mean to offend anyone, he just wanted her to share. Asa claims he has casual racism. Whatever that is.

The Shahs were the first show to travel to Israel, making Bravo history. Woohoo. Andy asks GG about Reza saying eff Iran, and why it upset her. She says her family is from there. Reza says it’s a terrorist country, and until there’s another gay Persian on the stage, no one else can contradict his opinion. Shervin make noises about the people of Iran, and Reza says he didn’t mean the kindergarteners, he meant the government, and should have said Islamic Republic. Andy talks about them causing a commotion that wasn’t aired, and we see a clip of them getting kicked out of a restaurant. Reza explains that the owner wanted more money, and when a producer said, “no problem,” he heard “no” and “problem,” and misunderstood. They talk about the city where Asa thought the Muslims and Jews were intermingling well, and Reza says it was more like a Muslim ghetto. Mike says they seemed aggressive to the people there, getting in their faces with cameras. Asa thinks they had a certain vibe that they were giving off.

They talk about the Western Wall. Mike says the feeling was remarkable. Reza says he literally felt something embrace him, and felt an energy from the Wall. GG starts to say something, and Mike says to be careful, since he stuck up for her. She felt the Wall was a barrier, and talks about someone saying “jihad” to her. Mike says there are idiots everywhere, but he knew what she meant and had her back.

Next up is MJ. Vida and Tommy join the group. Andy wonders what MJ was smoking to live in her mother’s apartment complex. MJ says it’s the winter of her father’s life, and she wanted to be close by. She tells us he’s doing much better, but she’d expected to be on a totally different life plan. We flash back to MJ and Tommy arguing about having kids. MJ says she was in a panic at the time, but when she saw the show, she knew how much Tommy loved and supported her. Tommy says it was a tough year for her, and he didn’t want to throw his reluctance to have kids at her too, but now the time is right. Vida again says she’s not ready to be a grandmother. She says the parents have to be ready for responsibility. MJ is annoyed that her mother is still discouraging her, and Reza suggests she’s projecting. Andy asks if Vida was ready when she had MJ, and after a pause, Vida says she didn’t plan it. Reza says she should end with icing on it, like saying she was happy once she had MJ. She does say she’s started to like Tommy, and everyone’s mouths drop open. GG says hell has officially frozen over. Vida says she’ll marry Tommy if MJ doesn’t, and I wonder what on earth happened. Andy asks when the wedding is, and Tommy says whenever MJ is ready. Andy offers to officiate.

He asks who has changed the most for the better, and Vida thinks it’s Mike; he’s more mature and relaxed. He asks what about the worst, and she calls Asa ungrateful. She owes everything she has to the show, but doesn’t even watch it. If she doesn’t like an opinion, she gets negative, because she’s only interested in promoting herself. How did Vida become so insightful? Is MJ slipping Vida weed edibles or something?

Destiney was on People’s Couch! Omg, I hadn’t realized that. I loved that show, and now that they mention it, I wonder why I didn’t recognize her or even her voice. We see a clip. A viewer says there’s undeniable sexual tension between Mike and Destiney. Really? I don’t think so. Destiney says they’re both hot-headed individuals, and it wouldn’t be healthy for anyone. She talks about what she wants in a man, and someone suggests Shervin, but she says there are no penises on that stage for her.

Nice segue to Shervin and Annalise’s relationship. Shervin tells them it’s an open relationship, which is news to everyone, but he says she didn’t want it shared. Andy asks if anyone believes it, and they all say no. Destiney says she was Shervin’s number one fan, until she hit a nerve asking him about cheating, and he came at her. We flash back, and Andy calls it a half-assed confession. Shervin gets Annalise on FaceTime. MJ leaves the stage. Andy asks Annalise if they have an open relationship. She tells him that she thinks it’s foolish to expect monogamy when she’s on the other side of the world. She’s not dating anyone else, but could if she wanted to. Annalise says you can’t cheat on someone if it’s not exclusive. We say g’day, and she’s gone. MJ thinks it was rehearsed. I think it’s one-sided openness, and she’s letting him cheat on her.

Andy tells us another bone of contention was MJ using the word bastard, but MJ insists there was no venom behind it. Asa says she expected more from Reza, but he says he can’t control what someone else says or how they feel. We flash back to Asa telling MJ it’s an ugly word, and MJ saying she was referring to herself. Reza deflects, saying Asa has claimed she’d had no hormonal treatments, then revealed she had frozen embryos. She’d confided in him about it previously, and he says he never told anyone, so he was shocked. Asa gets it, but says he’s smart, and she can’t believe he was thrown off by what she said. Reza says she answered so casually about the embryos, he was floored. He wondered what else was going to come out. He tells her that’s why they’re where they are in their relationship.

Andy asks why it wasn’t shared earlier. Reza says Asa asked him not to say anything, but he wished she and MJ would have had an honest conversation. Asa says their relationship wasn’t like that, but MJ says at the time, they had exchanges on a regular basis. Andy asks if Asa can’t see how it would raise questions. He asks if she went through IVF, and she says not with her son, but for the embryos, like an insurance policy. She felt hurt, because she had discussed it with Reza before. Andy asks if Asa understands how she put Reza in an awkward position. He asks if the group believes her, but only Mike does. The camera goes to Reza…

To be continued.

Next time, Mike and Jessica are discussed, Shalom joins the group, Reza’s faithfulness is questioned, and more Asa and MJ angst.

The Walking Dead – Episode 100

I hate when they start off all weird. We see a shot of flowers, a cane, Rick, and an alarm clock. Rick is standing over a grave.

Everyone is getting ready for battle. Rick gives a mini-speech, telling them Jesus said his world would get bigger, and it did. They found each other. The world is theirs, and they’ve come together, for it it’s theirs by right. At the Sanctuary, Dwight gets a note via arrowgram that says, tomorrow. Rick says anyone with common ground, it’s theirs too, but those who want it to be theirs alone, they end them. They don’t celebrate it or have shame. Only one person has to die and he’ll kill them himself. Dwight sends an arrow note back to Daryl. Rick says they’ll keep making the world bigger together. Ezekiel says together bound forever. He who sheds his blood today will be his brother. Shiva growls. Maggie says they may have to live in uncertainty, but have to keep faith in each other. If they can hold onto that, the future and world are theirs.

Tara and Carol sit on a bridge, where a billion zombies are passing underneath.

Rick does what he does best, ponders.

A bearded Rick opens his eyes. He hears music.

Carl goes on a gas run. He finds a bunch of cars near a gas station that have been halfway stripped, some with rotting corpses in them. Someone says, hi, and we all crap our pants. He draws his gun. The guy says he’s been shot at and had a microwave at him, but his mom said helping a traveler is everything. He gets not trusting people. Carl looks around as the man talks. He says he understands Carl doesn’t know him, but he hasn’t eaten in a few days and Carl might not even be real. He reveals himself. Carl draws his gun, but the guy raises his hands, and says, it’s cool. Someone else starts shooting at him, and the guy jets. Rick appears, telling Carl that they were supposed to meet at the intersection. Carl isn’t happy with Rick shooting at a defenseless person, and Rick says he just shot over his head; he wanted him to be gone. Carl says he’s not a spy, not one of them. Rick hopes he makes it. Carl says there isn’t going to be enough. Rick asks enough what, and Carl says, hope. Carl walks off, and Rick gazes at a slow-moving zombie.

A Savior in a lookout tower is shot, and falls to the ground, where a zombie is overjoyed that a picnic lunch just dropped from heaven. Daryl scratches a lookout off of his list, and picks off another guy. He makes strike marks on his gun, along with updating the list. Morgan impales one of the lookouts, which surprises me. Father Gabriel tells Rick that everyone is ready; is he? Rick says one person brought it to this. Gabriel says it always starts with one person, adding this did, meaning their group at Alexandria. Rick says it’s not about him.

Rick says goodbye to Judith, who is in college now. Not really; she’s a toddler. He kisses Michonne, and hugs Carl. He says this is the end, and drives away in a caravan of cars and trucks, shielded with corrugated iron panels. Carl tells Michonne he knows she wanted to go; he did too. She says it hurts, but they have to defend this place.

A guy teases a zombie chained to a tree. Rick knocks him out, and he goes through the guy’s stuff. Dude says Rick’s boy is gonna die. Rick lets the zombie go, and I say, ah-ha! in a Nelson voice.

Everyone gathers in a big field like it’s a soccer match. They all chit chat. Shiva gets off her tour bus a school bus. Maggie says she needs to be there for the first part. Rick is concerned about her pregnancy, but she says she can wage war through the second trimester. She has one more fight, and she’s gonna be there. Ezekiel says Hilltop lost their doctor, but there’s one at The Kingdom. He says they can join him, but Jesus says they’ll get theirs back. Ezekiel says on this day, they reshape the world for the children to come. Rick says Hilltop is lucky to have Maggie, and she says he made her someone worth following. He tells her next time, he’ll be following her.

Daryl, Tara, Gabriel and Carol wait at the bridge. Tara counts down, but nothing happens. Here comes the zombie horde, and Tara says she was close. The group walks off, leaving a car behind that blows up.

Negan’s people come out. This is like a Sharks and Jets rumble. Regina says she wants blood, and Dwight says maybe she’ll get lucky.

Daryl and company string a wire across the road.

The guards on the roof of the Sanctuary are picked off by Rick’s people. The caravan drives in past the line of chained up zombies. I feel sorry for them. They must get really bored. Rick’s people draw their guns. They shoot in the air. This is a rumble.

Negan comes out and says, well, sh*t. Sorry, he was in a meeting. I hope they don’t kill him. He’s one of the few senses of humor this show has going for it. And Eugene.

We see Rick with teary eyes, some flowers, and older-looking Rick with a beard. Why? Why do they do this? I hate this cryptic stuff. Bearded Rick get up. Everything is cool, and he’s with Michonne in a beautiful house.

Negan isn’t exactly feeling he has a reason to shoot, He cares about his people. he doesn’t want to play whose d*ck is bigger. His is, and they know it, but if it wasn’t, he could accept it. He’s not going to let people die over it, like Rick is about to. He asks what the hell he can do for him. Rick calls out the Hilltoppers and Eugene. He says they have chance to survive. They can live if they surrender. He can’t guarantee that at any time but right now.

Morgan goes down to the road.

Negan asks, what about me? Rick says he told Negan twice. Negan tells Rick that he has no idea the sh*t that’s about to go down. Does he think he has the numbers for this fight? He doesn’t. Simon brings out Gregory, who says Hilltop stands with Negan and the Saviors. Any Hilltoppers who support Rick are no longer welcome in the colony. Negan says, and… Gregory tell them that they’re families will be thrown out and left to fend for themselves. Go home now, or there will be no home to go back to. Maggie tells Jesus to do what he needs to do, and he says all he has are a bunch of books and old lobster bib. Negan tells them to go back to separating wheat or whatever they do. Maggie says doesn’t look like anyone is going. Jesus says Hilltop stands with Maggie.

Morgan pikes a zombie. He sees a car coming.

Simon says (tee-hee) he’s invested a lot in Gregory, and he’s disappointed. He pushes Gregory down the stairs.

Cars come. Morgan waits. Sh*t blows up.

Negan says it sound like sh*t (the word of the night) is going down. Negan looks pretty pissed, and Rick asks if he’s going to make him count. Negan smiles. Rick counts down from ten, but when he gets to seven, starts to shoot

Lots of shooting back and forth. Negan and company go inside. Rick’s people shoot out the windows.

Morgan joins Carol, Tara, and Daryl. Carol says it’s starting, and the zombies arrive. Daryl waits while the others go ahead. He rides forward of the horde, and shoots, creating an explosion.

Rick and company shoot up everything. Daryl continues to blow stuff up. The zombie horde keeps walking. A stray zombie wanders by when Daryl sets off one of his explosions. Cool. A truck drives into the Sanctuary gate and explodes. Negan limps out. Rick is relentless with his machine gun. Gabriel says they have to leave now. Rick messes around with a Polaroid camera. I don’t know if now is the time to take candid snaps.

An entrance for the zombie horde has been opened up by the truck. Gabriel is about to leave in one of the cars, and sees Gregory. Leave him, you idiot. He doesn’t listen to me, and dashes over to Gregory. They’re being shot at, but Gabriel tells him to wait for their moment. Gregory doesn’t wait. He runs to Gabriel’s car, and drives off, because he’s a selfish a-hole.

Carl goes back to the gas station. He leaves cans of food with a note that says, sorry. The new guy watches.

Rick’s group regroups. Ezekiel smiles.

Daryl tells Rick they can wait until tomorrow. Rick says they can’t. Gabriel stopped to get him when Negan almost killed him. It isn’t about him.

Morgan asks if one of the Hilltoppers can hit the guard with an arrow. She says she wouldn’t bet on it, but I would, because she does. They open a gate. Is this the back way? Someone lobs a grenade at them, and there’s a lot of smoke.

Tons of zombies are walking into the Sanctuary. Gabriel jets through them, and goes inside a trailer. Negan says he hopes Gabriel has his sh*ttin’ pants on, because he’s about to sh*t his pants. Negan laughs. Gabriel gulps. Tons of zombies scratch and scrabble at the trailer. We see a crane shot of all the zombies descending on the Sanctuary.

Judith runs to bearded Rick, babbling about an owl. Michonne tells him the festival is being taken very seriously. Judith wants to see the owl, and they go outside. It’s all beautiful and green.

Teary-eyed Rick talks to his people. He says mercy prevails over his land. He doesn’t want to wait for it anymore. They don’t either. They don’t have to start tomorrow. Right now, with everything they’ve borne and endured, everything they’ve risen above, if they start right now, no matter what comes next, they’ve won. They’ve already won.

😪 The episode was dedicated to John Bernecker and George Romero. John was a stuntman who worked on Walking Dead’s eighth season who died from a head injury he sustained in a fall. George, who also passed away this year, is the man who started it all with Night of the Living Dead, the first zombie allegory. My personal favorite is Dawn of the Dead, the perfect statement on consumerism. I also recommend Martin, a gem of a vampire film, but it’s hard to find. I had the pleasure of meeting George at a screening at the Waverly Theater in Greenwich Village, home of the original Rocky Horror Picture Show.

🎭 Glad to hear UnReal will be returning February 26, 2018. I’m not sure they’ll be able to top the real Bachelor in Paradise debacle that recently happened though.

💍 I’m still following the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, and taking notes. It’s been a helluva busy month, and then someone threw Halloween in there. Hey, we do a whole theme with the dogs here. All right, I do a whole theme. I’ve also been watching My Giant Life, which follows some very tall girls. Like the shows with little people, the struggle is real to live in an average height world.

🏡 Channel Zero: No End House continues to intrigue, although I’ve had to watch it On Demand due to TV scheduling conflicts. It’s very weird, and I’m not so sure I know what’s going on all the time, but it’s not as weird as last season, where I really had no idea what was going on with that monster made of teeth. This season brought us a house that the characters are exploring – it just appeared out of nowhere – where each room holds a different terror. The last couple of episodes brought them to a room that opened to a parallel town. At first, they thought they’d found a way out, but then realized they were stuck with no way out. The dead were alive again, a doppelganger insisted he was a better version of his double, and no one knew who was real. Offbeat and odd, but I like it.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

There’s a tribute to Morgan in the park. An easel has been set up with pictures of him.

Kristina walks Parker to class. Parker says that Kristina has made it possible for them to be together. Kristina says it’s the best decision she’s ever made. The dean knocks at the door, and says they need to discuss how Parker’s conduct affects the university.

Ava tells Kiki how sick of hospitals she is, and talks about things they can do today. Kiki says she can’t spend too much time today. Ava thinks she’s mad, and Kiki says that Ava only lied and snuck off to a bootleg clinic in Russia where she could have died. She was relieved when Griff called. Ava says he moved heaven and earth for her. Kiki tells her that’s because he felt responsible, and wants to know why. What happened between them?

In the chapel, Griff tells God that he’s sought clarity through prayer, scripture and faith, but needs discernment and guidance. A priest walks in, and says at the risk of sounding conceited, he could be the answer to Griff’s prayers. Father Corey is there to take him back to his parish where he belongs. I didn’t even know he had a parish.

Ava tells Kiki that she and Griff had a disagreement, and let’s leave it at that. Kiki says it must have been quite a disagreement, but she’s glad he got there when he did. Deanna pops in, saying there’s been a glitch, and Ava’s release papers will take longer. Kiki says she’ll be back later She’s spending the morning with Avery. Ava wants to see her, but Kiki isn’t sure about that. She doesn’t think it’s the best thing for today. Ava says she hasn’t seen her in a while. Kiki tells her to text when she’s ready to go, and Ava says to take pictures if she can’t bring her. Kiki says she really is glad Ava is back home.

When Kiki is gone, Laura appears. She says she saw Kiki leaving. She’s a lovely girl, and Ava must be proud, although she wonders if she’d be as proud, if Kiki knew how Ava betrayed Nikolas. Which makes no sense unless we were talking about Kiki being proud of Ava.

Father Corey says he hasn’t heard from Griff in weeks. Griff tells him that he just got back from a trip. The priest says it must have been some trip; St. Gabriel had an easier time reaching the Virgin Mary. He’s not shaming Griff, but not even sending a pithy emoji makes him think that Griff is avoiding him. Griff says it wasn’t because he didn’t want to speak with him, but he was afraid of being told his leave of absence is over. Father Corey tells him as they say on Wednesdays, bingo! The bishop needs him back immediately.

The dean tells Parker that pursuing a sexual relationship with a student is against policy, and she was seen kissing Kristina. Kristina says that she’s not going to school there anymore, but he says it was prior to her withdrawal. She wants to know who said something, but Parker says it doesn’t matter. The dean tells her that her paperwork will be waiting. Kristina asks what paperwork, and Parker tells her that she’s just been fired.

Laura tells Ava that she’s the one holding up the release papers. Ava knows how much Laura hates her; she hates herself. Laura says she should. She chose vanity over conscience, letting a murderer walk out into the world, and Spencer will have no peace of mind. Ava wonders if he could appreciate the irony. She ruined her chances of getting her face back by helping somebody. Laura asks if she thought she’d get applause for her noble victory, when she helped the man go free who murdered her son. Nikolas died for her. She tried to take comfort that he died a hero, but now she knows it was in vain. In the end, Ava valued her looks over Nikolas’s memory, and Laura will never forgive her. Any attempt at apology is wasted, but she’s the least of Ava’s worries. She sold her soul to the devil, and one day, will have to pay up. She gives Ava the release papers.

Griff apologizes to any inconvenience, and says he’ll call the bishop and ask for an extension. Father Corey says he already took more time than usual, and the time has come to an end. Griff says he has patients and cases, but the priest says there are other doctors. His parish needs him. Aside from his indiscretion, he was an exemplary priest, which is why they agreed to the extended leave. Griff says he appreciates it, and Father Corey tells him to act like it. He’s had more than enough time, and they have every confidence that he’s learned to resist temptation.

Kristina tells Parker that she can call father’s lawyer, but Parker says that she broke the rules. She tells Kristina not to blame herself, but Kristina says she only blames whoever was spying on them. Alexis walks into the room, and Kristina says she’s not surprised. It was her.

Kiki arrives at the park, and thanks Michael for inviting her. He says no one blames her for what Ava did. Molly says that they’re there to honor Morgan’s life and outrageous sense of humor. I wish I’d seen this sense of humor they keep talking about. I don’t remember him having much of a sense of humor at all. Molly gets a text from Kristina, saying she can’t make it. Josslyn wonders why she’s blowing it off, since it was her idea. Molly doesn’t want to speculate, but Josslyn thinks she knows something. Molly says that Kristina dropped out of PCU, and their mom is upset, so they’re probably talking. Michael says Morgan would sympathize.

Molly gives out Perks new signature drink, which was Morgan’s creation – the Morganchino, hot chocolate and espresso. She says that the profits from it will go to the foundation. Dante says it packs a punch, and Michael adds that he won’t be sleeping for days. That’s my kind of coffee. Josslyn says the ceremony wouldn’t be complete without Perks hats, also Morgan’s creation, and passes them out to everyone. Dante talks about the time they first met, and Michael takes a group picture with everyone wearing their hats.

Kristina tells Alexis that Parker was just fired because of their relationship, and Alexis says, imagine that. Kristina says that she’s no longer enrolled at PCU. Alexis says that she knows, even though Kristina didn’t tell anyone, but she wasn’t the one who said something to the school. Kristina says that Alexis would do anything in her power to sabotage them, and Parker adds that she has been relentless. Kristina tells her to admit it. Alexis insists she didn’t do it, but whoever did, did Kristina and PCU a big favor.

Doc meets Laura at Kelly’s. He tells her that he got her message, and asks if she’s okay. He has a feeling, and she admits she neglected to tell him something. He says she can tell him anything, and she says that she went to Wyndemere and threatened Valentin with a gun.

Griff says that his ordination was the happiest day of his life. Father Corey remembers what the priest said about justice and consistency, and all the virtues that should be reflected in a priest’s actions, as well as keeping pure and spotless. He says it’s a gift of a high calling. Griff remembers everything, including his vows. He wants to resume being a priest, but he has to be completely sure; his parishioners deserve it. He asks for a few more months, but Father Corey says he already asked the bishop, and Griff is needed now. His replacement is needed elsewhere, and the bishop was firm. Griff says he can’t, and Father Corey tells him that he has an important decision to make then. Does he want to continue being a priest?

The group at the memorial toasts Morgan with coffee. Ava appears, saying she’s sorry to intrude, but Kiki said Avery would be there. She asks if Avery can say “hi” to her momma, and Michael tells Molly to take Avery into Perks. She asks if he had to do that, and Kiki asks what she’s doing there. She was supposed to text when she was ready to leave. Ava says she got released right after Kiki left. Dante says so she thought she’d barge in, but she tells him that she didn’t know what was happening. Kiki wonders why she didn’t turn around and leave when she noticed, and she says she wanted to see Avery. Michael says she saw her; Avery was having a good time, and she ruined it. I laugh, because maybe she ruined it for the others, but Avery didn’t even know what was going on. Michael insists she can feel the tension (again, not coming from Ava). They’re remembering Morgan instead of being with him because of her.

Father Corey says that he told Griff not to be hard on himself. Things happen. They fail, and fall, but they gather up their courage and learn from their mistakes, emerging stronger with renewed faith and better resistance. He tells Griff that the diocese has supported him because he means so much to them. It shouldn’t be a question of obligation. In the seminary, he embraced the church; what’s changed? He asks if there’s another woman, and Griff says yes.

Alexis tells Kristina that Parker violated her position of trust, and should have discouraged a relationship. Kristina says Parker never did anything inappropriate. Alexis says PCU disagrees. Parker says yes, they did, but she doesn’t have to defend or explain herself to anyone except Kristina. Alexis says that it’s hard to watch Parker manipulate her daughter. Kristina says she came to see if her plan worked, but Alexis says she has no control over what the dean does. Kristina asks why she’s there then, and Alexis wants to find out why she quit school.

Laura tells Doc that the gun wasn’t loaded, but Valentin didn’t know that. He sarcastically says that’s a relief, and she says she knows it was wrong and stupid, but she wanted to see the fear in his eyes for a change. She says Spencer can’t win the civil suit without Ava’s testimony, and it gave him a sense of purpose. Valentin gets away with everything, and she felt helpless. Doc says no judgement. He knows how fierce she can be; it’s one of the many qualities that attracts him to her. Laura gets a picture from Spencer on her phone, and she says he misses them, and will never forget their walks along the Seine before school started. He wants to know how the lawsuit is coming along, but she doesn’t want to let him know how Ava betrayed him.

Michael says they know Ava didn’t mean for Morgan to die; just go out of his mind and break up with her daughter. Dante tells her that she’s not welcome. Ava says that she’s still Avery’s mother. Kiki tells her to please go. Ava says all right, and when she’s gone, Kiki apologizes for letting it slip that she was seeing Avery. She asks if they can continue to celebrate Morgan’s life, but Josslyn is taking her to see the penguins at the zoo, and wants to do it before she’s tired. Kiki says that her mom ruined the memorial like she ruins everything she touches.

Father Corey asks if Griff had sex, but Griff says no. There was some physical contact, but he stopped it. He tells the priest this is different than his experience with Claudette. At the time, he had strong feelings and thought he loved her, but not enough to overcome his love of God and the priesthood. Father Corey asks why he’s reluctant, and Griff says God is still first in his heart, but there’s something about this woman. He’s drawn to her without understanding. It’s more than physical. She had been injured, and closed herself off from the world. At first, he wanted to help, and still just wants to help. Father Corey asks if he wants something more. Griff doesn’t know, but he does know that he can’t return without an answer.

Alexis tells Kristina she found out about her quitting school when she got a refund check. She didn’t have the respect and decency to tell her to her face. Kristina says she thought she knew what the reaction would be, but she underestimated Alexis. She didn’t think she’d get back at her by tanking Parker’s career. Parker says it doesn’t matter; she’s fired. She’s going to Oregon, where her parents left her a house. Kristina is sure she’ll love it. She’s going with her.

Doc asks what Laura told Spencer. She told him that they miss him too, and the civil suit is moving through the judicial system at a glacial pace, which isn’t exactly a lie. Doc says it’s not exactly the truth either. She says the suit means everything to Spencer. He’s Hamlet avenging his father’s death. It’s how he’s dealing with his grief, and losing Ava’s testimony will be hard because he wants to win badly. Doc asks, or does she? She says both, but she can handle the disappointment; she doesn’t think he can. Maybe something will happen to change it. It breaks her heart that Spencer won’t have justice for his father’s murder.

Father Corey says that Griff can’t have it both ways. He can’t use the priesthood as a shield against life. Choose one and deal with the challenges. He suggests Griff pray about it, but Griff says he’s been doing that. The priest says he’ll pray too, but if the answer isn’t with God, Griff has to look inside himself. He needs to have the guts to listen, and in the end, he’ll know what’s right, and no doubt find the answer. I love this actor, but can’t find out who he is.

Doc doesn’t want either of them to suffer. They might not get justice, and will have to find peace another way, but he’ll be here for her no matter what. He wants to be there in the good times and the bad; that’s how love works. Laura says she doesn’t know what she would have done without him. He says she would have managed. She says maybe, but this latest twist knocked her for a loop. She doesn’t know how Ava can justify her actions, and how she lives with herself. She’s destroyed so many lives.

Ava gets thank you text from Spencer. She says can’t go on like this.

Josslyn thinks they should give the picture board to the foundation, so the kids can see the person who inspired it. Kiki adds that they can see Morgan was just like them; he struggled, but loved life. Michael asks if she wants to come to the zoo with them, but she says no thanks. When they leave, she thinks about what Michael said to Ava, that she used the idea of love and concern to destroy his brother and control her daughter. Kiki ponders this, and tells Morgan that she’s sorry for what Ava did because of her. He’s not here now, and she knows it’s Ava’s fault. Michael said he’s never going to forgive Ava, and maybe she shouldn’t either. She doesn’t know what to do.

Alexis tells Kristina that she’s being ridiculous, and she’s not going to Oregon. Kristina says she is – if Parker wants her. Parker says of course. Alexis blocks the door and says if Parker has any shred of decency, she can’t do this. Parker says that she loves Kristina; she never would have trashed her career otherwise. Alexis says it’s a mistake, but Kristina says the only mistake would be letting Alexis control her life. Alexis tells her that she’s only trying to help. Kristina says she loves someone who loves her back, and their starting a new life together. Alexis can stay and judge – what she does best.

Doc tells Laura that people invent all kinds of ways to justify doing wrong. Some blame others, some take what they think they deserve, some play the victim. Understanding Ava’s psyche won’t make her feel better. She says she has to do something; she doesn’t want to lie life like this. She knows it’s not what Nikolas would have wanted. He’d have wanted her to live her best life and find peace, but she doesn’t know how. Doc says maybe he can help, and asks her to marry him.

Ava books the next flight to Paris. She says that she’s sorry to Spencer. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Griff.

Tomorrow, Curtis found something, Dillon says Kiki is shutting him out, and Alexis tells Sonny that they have to keep Kristina from throwing her life away.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey

We revisit Teresa throwing the birthday cake at Melissa, and Siggy overreacting, ending with her telling Margaret to go screw herself. In her interview, Margaret says while she wouldn’t throw a cake at a party, they were just having fun. The scene continues a little longer, with Siggy calling the girls just about every name in the book. Siggy says if they can’t behave, they’re not coming back.

Teresa calls her father. She misses talking to her mom every day, and her daughters miss her too. Melissa calls Joe #2, and he asks how the birthday dinner went. She says Siggy got “fancy pants” on them, and got mad. She tells Joe about the cake fight, and he laughs. Melissa says that Siggy called them animals. She says that’s what women do, and he should be happy he’s not one of them.

Siggy tells her husband that they were all drunk, but it was no excuse for throwing cake. She’s humiliated and embarrassed, and wants an apology. She continues to bitch to Michael. He says to come home already; it’s ridiculous.

Back in New Jersey, Frankie pours dried pasta into a bowl. I’m hoping it’s going into some boiling water, and he doesn’t put milk on it. Frank lectures him about acting more mature, and doesn’t think he’s taking going to college seriously. He tells Frankie not to embarrass his parents.

The ladies head to yoga. Siggy and Delores didn’t answer the group text, and Margaret tells them not to wait. Danielle talks about Siggy saying that she’s more intelligent than the rest of them. She could understand if it was a real fight, but they were just goofing around. In her interview, Danielle calls Siggy a control freak, and says the moment she wasn’t in control and they started having fun, she lost her sh*t. She might be right here. They were having fun, but not her fun. Danielle tells the others that Siggy did say she’s a Gemini. We flash back to her getting weepy every other minute, and Margaret calls her Soggy. Melissa says that she’s two different people – the one from Boca, and the one from New Jersey. She’s hoping New Jersey comes back, because Boca is no fun.

They set up towels on the beach. Teresa is a certified instructor, and tells them go at their own pace. In her interview, she says that yoga changed her mind. She learned to be more positive. If it wasn’t for yoga, she wouldn’t have rekindled her relationship with Danielle. Danielle does a difficult pose, and Melissa says that her flexibility is the reason she was engaged nineteen times. Hahahahaha!

Siggy and Delores go to a juice bar. Siggy says she tried to make the weekend perfect, and was disrespected for her trouble. She bitches to Delores, and says that it’s her town. Delores gets why she’s upset, but says she doesn’t think it was deliberately disrespectful; it’s just the way they act. She’s seen Teresa throw people and tables across the room. Delores suggests Siggy talk to them before they go to tennis at her friend’s house.

After yoga, Melissa wants a drink immediately. A man brings a white floral wreath down to Margaret. Margaret says that it’s a healing time, and she thought setting the wreath out to see as a memorial to Teresa’s mom would be appropriate. She’d seen it done in Hawaii. How thoughtful! She feels that Teresa opened up, and wanted to do something special. Each of them takes a rose and a notecard where they write something to a lost loved one. Everyone is crying, and they read their cards out loud. I start to cry. This is one of those rare moments that is truly real and touches your heart. Of course, Teresa writes to her mother, and I’m surprised she can get through it. In her interview, Melissa says it takes a while to get to a place where you want to keep living. Teresa says Margaret is an amazing person. They tie the flowers and cards onto the wreath. Margaret didn’t think it would be so emotional. They have to take the wreath out on a paddleboard with an instructor. Teresa says that one of the difficult things about grieving is being alone, but now she’s sharing a special moment with those who lost love ones. She tells us that Margaret wouldn’t have known it, but her mom loved beach, and she knows she’s watching.

In the Garden State, Teresa’s girls aren’t thrilled with grandpa’s cooking. Joe #2 comes over with his kids. In his interview, Joe says the grandkids are his father’s life, and he lights up when they’re around. He teases the girls about boyfriends, and says his daughter will be 48 when she gets her first one.

Siggy whines to Delores that they’ve had all morning to reflect. She hopes they realize they took it too far. Everyone gets in the limo and it’s pretty quiet. In her interview, Siggy says they’re in the car like nothing happened. There’s intermittent small talk. Delores tells us that the one thing that can make it go away is if someone apologizes. She feels an eff-you attitude in the car.

When they get to the house mansion, Siggy says things went too far last night. She doesn’t want tennis rackets to go flying. Teresa wonders, if Siggy feels that way, why are they even coming here? In her interview, Siggy says they’re lucky they didn’t get time out. She tells them to please respect her friend’s house. Melissa feels like she’s being schooled. Margaret says they’ll talk about it later.

The girls are introduced to Lori. The house is humongous and impressive, but I don’t love it. Siggy wants them to have a taste of her lifestyle in Boca. Teresa is pissed, but Lori planned amazing day for them, so she’s rolling with it. None of them want to be there. They sit on the patio, and Lori explains that she and her husband became friends with Siggy and Michael when her husband was Siggy’s OB/GYN. Some of the girls are going to play tennis, and the others going to the pool. Lori arranged for a lifeguard to teach Teresa how to swim. Wow. Another thoughtful gesture. Danielle tells her about the wreath ceremony, and no surprise, Siggy feels disrespected that they didn’t call her. In her interview, Delores says she’s known Teresa and her mother since she was a teenager, and is shocked she was excluded. Because It’s all about them. I might add that they did not answer the group text, so too bad.

Siggy’s tennis dress matches the blue court so well, it’s like a special effect. Margaret plays tennis like I do – badly. Siggy is concentrating on having good time, but it’s hard, because she’s sad about fighting with her friends. I notice that the instructor has man bun. Only Josh (Sweet Home Oklahoma) is allowed to have a man bun. Swim instructor Lee takes Teresa out in the water, and she’s terrified. She has to keep a grip on him, but doesn’t really mind since he’s hot. He instructs well, as she ends up swimming alone across the pool.

Siggy takes Lori aside, and tells her about the cake, leaving out a few details, like it wasn’t malicious, and she was nasty. Lori says no one in her world operates like that. Siggy is glad someone agrees with her, because she thought she was in the twilight zone. They agree a sit down is needed. Delores tells Margaret of course Siggy is upset. Margaret says Siggy did say a few things that were dismissive. In her interview, Delores thinks Margaret needs to learn about loyalty. Who brought you is who you stay with. Yeah, if you’re going to the bar. How about leaning on the side of the right one? Delores is angry that they weren’t invited to the memorial. In her interview, Margaret says it was about Teresa’s mother, not Siggy and Delores. Again I say, if they hadn’t ignored the text, they might have gotten an invite.

Melissa doesn’t want to apologize for having fun at her own party. Good point. They’re having dinner at Siggy’s place. Everyone gets ready.

Siggy is annoyed with Margaret, and hurt. She wanted to be part of it. Delores says Margaret should have texted her, and I yell, she did! you didn’t answer! at the TV. She says they weren’t up for yoga because of the way things went the night before. But she obviously couldn’t be bothered to let them know that. She says had they known about the memorial, nothing would have stopped them from coming. In her interview, Margaret calls Delores a mini Siggy. Margaret relays to the others that Delores said they should just accept that Siggy says things like she has a higher IQ; that’s the way she is. Danielle says it’s an insult. In her interview, Teresa says she never would have believed she and Danielle would be on the same side of an argument.

Margaret says the house is a shrine to Siggy. There are even pictures of her in the bathroom. Siggy has hired Sexz Chef for the dinner. While they have a cocktail, Siggy tells Teresa that she has a hangover from last night and her head is spinning. Teresa says that her head is spinning from last night too. In her interview, Siggy claims she was getting the eyeroll attitude, but I didn’t see that. It was more like Teresa was trying to be funny, but didn’t know how to handle Siggy’s remark.

At the table, continuing with her passive aggression, Siggy says they had great food last night. Melissa says that she enjoyed being outside. Siggy says she can’t stand it. They’re acting like nothing happened. They were both rude, and it was validated by Lori. Melissa is like, nice, throw us under the bus. Siggy says they threw her under the bus by not apologizing first thing the next morning. Melissa and Teresa say, what?! at the exact same time, and it’s too funny. Melissa is shocked she wants them to apologize for being playful. In her interview, Melissa says that they didn’t ruin the night; Siggy did. Siggy goes blah-blah-blah about how she had this special cake made for Melissa, like it wasn’t going to get eaten in five minutes anyway. Delores thinks they should apologize, not necessarily for what they did, but because it upset Siggy, which doesn’t take much. Melissa asks why Siggy doesn’t apologize for the things she said, like calling them freakin’ animals, and she’ll have to explain they’re from New Jersey.

Siggy claims she never said that, and she remembers everything. We flash back to her saying that. Teresa says Delores didn’t have much to drink, and asks her if Siggy didn’t say that. Delores starts making it up as she goes along. She’s not saying Siggy didn’t say it, and has her back. In her interview, Teresa says Delores was like her sister, and isn’t backing her up. Delores claims she doesn’t remember, and Melissa says that means she’s pleading the fifth. Melissa says that Siggy also told them to eff themselves. Siggy wails why isn’t she allowed to have feelings? Margaret asks how she’d act in a real crisis (thank you), and who cries about a cake? Margaret calls her Soggy. In her interview, Melissa says she’s been called a lot worse names. Danielle says that since the cake was a gift to Melissa, she should be able to use it the way she wants to. Another good point. Siggy accuses her of kissing Teresa’s ass. She whines that she extended this invitation to everyone, and now they’re ganging up on her. She says they’re not getting it. Melissa says that she talks down to them, and Siggy accuses Melissa of always talking down to her. She’d expected her friends to have a certain level of class in a public place. Margaret says that Siggy caused several scenes, and we flash back to her screaming and hollering to people in the first restaurant they went to. Siggy says this is her town, and they’re acting like trash.

Melissa says that you never refer to a woman from Jersey as stupid or trash. Danielle is insulted that she used that word (and you don’t get more Jersey than her). Siggy starts saying trashy, trashy, trashy, and Melissa asks if she’s on drugs. Siggy says putting a little cake on each other’s faces was fine, but not throwing the whole thing. Melissa asks if doing it properly would have made it okay. Siggy tells her if that’s how it’s going to be, maybe they shouldn’t have dinner again. Melissa says okay, bye. Teresa follows her, saying the crab cakes were salty. Margaret and Danielle aren’t far behind. Way to break up a dinner party.

Siggy says she doesn’t give a sh*t. Delores says they started the weekend as close friends, and then two interlopers snuck in, Margaret and Danielle.

Next time, Siggy wants to pull Margaret’s pigtails out, Margaret calls Siggy a hypocrite, and Siggy is out to destroy Margaret.

This was a really good episode. There were the usual fights, but we got an unusually touching moment, and there were quite a few laughs.

🍸 Oh wow. I’d just been thinking about the time Andy Cohen had a Watch What Happens Live New Year’s Eve show. Giggy married Grandma Wrinkles, and it was one of the best New Year’s Eves I ever had. Sad, I know. For whatever reason, he said he’d never do another one, and I was bemoaning that, which is even sadder. Anyway, on tonight’s show, he said he’ll be hosting with Anderson Cooper this coming New Year’s Eve. I wasn’t totally listening, but I assume on CNN. Not quite the same thing, but it sounds intriguing. I also assume that he’s replacing Kathy Griffin, whose career no one killed except her, and that was long before the election.

🌟 I missed Star last week, and apparently missed a lot, because Benjamin Bratt is still alive, and still wants to produce the group. They weren’t down with that, but maybe they should have been, since latest producer Ayanna scheduled them to sing in a mall. It didn’t go well, and Alexandra dropped the mic (stand) all the way through one of the speakers, causing a power outage in the food court. I was kind of on Ayanna’s side here, since the girls complained about having to perform for a not-that-receptive audience. They should try off-Broadway, and perform for almost no audience. She told them it wasn’t what she meant by a smash performance, and as punishment, they had to be back-up singers for some dude. Star tried to get him to promote them, and that was a no, but it was a yes to getting busy with her later, where she threw him a no after getting him hot and bothered. Queen Latifah dancing at home with the girls to I’m Every Woman was all of us. Next week, another father for Star shows up.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital was a rerun from March today, and will also be tomorrow, which is really today for some of you. I remember the days (putting on my shawl) when they actually had new episodes on holidays. Although it did give me more of a chance to get sucked into the world of Game of Thrones. I didn’t stay up all night during the marathon, but the only episodes I fully missed were when I was sleeping. It was like, wait, let me just watch this one part; oh yeah, there’s this part; that’s right, in the next episode (insert your favorite villain here) bites the dust; and before I knew it, it was the end of season six.

🗽 Have a Happy and safe Independence Day, and please, please keep your pets inside well before fireworks time. 🐱More pets are lost on this day than any other.🐶

🙌 Also, don’t forget what we’re celebrating, besides a day off from work. My favorite way to commemorate the occasion, besides a trip to Oceanfest (i.e. glorified flea market with sandcastles) and hoisting a few, is to watch 1776. If you don’t like musicals, it might not be for you, but I probably learned more about the signing of the Declaration of Independence from this film than any history class. It also gives a glimpse into the personal lives of our forefathers and humanizes them. The cast is superb – William Daniels (John Adams), Ken Howard (Thomas Jefferson), Howard Da Silva (Benjamin Franklin), and a host of others, including several actors from the original Dark Shadows. Full of humor, wittiness, and spirit, it never gets old for me.

A Few Quotes from the Film…

I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress!  – John Adams

Oh Mr. Dickinson, I’m surprised at you. You should know that rebellion is always legal in the first person, such as “our rebellion.” It is only in the third person – “their rebellion” – that it is illegal. – Benjamin Franklin

To place before mankind the common sense of the subject, in terms so plain and firm as to command their assent. – Thomas Jefferson, on the purpose of the Declaration

I’m concerned over the continued absence of 1/13th of this Congress. Where is New Jersey? – John Hancock, and in reply, Somewhere between New York and Pennsylvania. – John Dickinson

Revolutions, Mr. Dickinson, come into this world like bastard children – half improvised and half compromised. – Benjamin Franklin

This is a revolution, dammit! We’re going to have to offend somebody! – John Adams

At a stage in life when other men prosper, I’m reduced to living in Philadelphia. – John Adams

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Amy 2.0 hunts down Nathan at Kelly’s. She thanks him for coming to her rescue. He says he didn’t do anything, and compliments her on her vocal talent. She says he did more than he knows.

Lulu sees Valentin and Nina together with Charlotte. She tells Laura that Valentin sings one stupid song, and they’re a happy family again. Laura tells her not to ruin the night. Thank you.

Valentin asks Charlotte which song she liked best, and she says all of them. Nina says she liked Kiki and Dillon’s song best, but Charlotte tells Valentin she’s teasing. Charlotte goes off with the other kids. Nina says it was a rocky start, but a strong finish. Anna watches them.

Andre tells Anna not to do anything rash where Valentin is concerned. She says she may not have a choice.

Jake wants to do his magic act. Elizabeth suggests they do it tomorrow, but he says it has to be now. She asks Lucy to help explain that the ball is over, but Lucy says they still have the room for a while. Jake and the other kids are like, pleeeease? and Jason walks in.

Ava says she doesn’t suppose Sonny and Carly are in the market for some art. Carly says they know what she did to their son.

Amy tells Nathan not every guy would have stepped up to escort her in. Nathan says it wasn’t anything. She thanks him again, and asks if he’s talked to Maxie. He says he tried, but she had a business thing to go to. Amy says Maxie is easily distracted. She talks about how Nathan makes it work, but Maxie doesn’t make much of an effort.

Andre tells Anna that Valentin isn’t entirely innocent, but Anna says he’s not guilty either. Andre asks why she’s always defending him, and she says what other choice did he have? Returning the Chimera to the WSB wasn’t an option; they’d probably have shot him. She says he was desperate and running for his life. Having such a distinctive look, he could have easily been picked off by the WSB. Helena was despicable, but also filthy rich. Anna doesn’t believe Valentin thought Helena would ever activate it, but just use it as leverage, and he was right; she died before using it. Anna says Robert, Frisco, and the WSB are searching and clearing the island, but there’s no guarantee that she left it there.

Valentin says Nina is pulling away again, and asks if it’s Anna. She asks when isn’t it Anna?

Jason asks if Jake changed his mind, and Jake says his mom doesn’t like it. Elizabeth tells Jason that it’s late, and Jake has this tone in his voice; he sounds intense like it’s crucial, and she has a weird feeling. Franco says the Chimera has nothing to do with the magic act, which shows how little he knows. Jason says keep it short; what harm can it do? Emma thinks it’s not looking good for an okay, but Jake says he’s going to finish this tonight.

Ava says she doesn’t know what Sonny and Carly are talking about, and she’s calling the cops. Carly says please do, but Ava doesn’t know what they must have been told. Carly wants to know why, and how could she? She says Lucy told them everything. Ava claims that she and Morgan were back together at the end, so she covered it up. Carly says Morgan died, and it’s on her. Sonny says she tampered with his medication, and Carly adds that she replaced the lithium with placebos, and sabotaged him because of Kiki.

Nathan and Amy have coffee. He says it would be one thing just living across the country, but Maxie is with her daughter and her daughter’s father. Amy says if he really wants her, fight for her

Jason says it’s Elizabeth’s call. She says fine, but if there’s a hint of a problem, they shut it down.

Andre tells Anna that he’s an armchair archaeologist, and knows what a chimera is. He thinks it’s a strange name for bio-toxin, and Anna tells him it’s a hybrid of several different strains and extremely contagious. If it’s released, it will spread like wildfire.

Nina tells Valentin that she knows they’re back on track, and she’s starting to believe him. Charlotte runs in, saying Jake is going to do his magic show, and asks to stay. Valentin says all right, and Nina agrees.

Lucy thanks Laura. They awkwardly almost hug, and end up fist bumping, and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Lulu tells Laura that Jake wants to do his magic act with the birthday gift that Spencer sent to him. Laura says that didn’t happen.

Ava says it was Sonny who was responsible for Morgan’s death. Sonny wants to know what she did and why. Carly says Ava pushed Morgan into a downward spiral to get him away from Kiki. Ava says she wasn’t jealous; she wanted Kiki to be happy. Morgan was sick, and it wreaked havoc with Kiki’s life. She brings up all the dangerous situations that Morgan had put Kiki in, and asks what mother wouldn’t protect her child? Carly tells her that it was Kiki’s choice, but Ava says a mother knows best, and she knew Kiki would be happier, and so would Morgan, if he could let her go. Sonny says she decided to move it along by changing his medication to fake pills, and Ava says she was just protecting her daughter. Carly tells her that she always hides behinds her kids, but it doesn’t absolve her from the choices she’s made, like killing Connie, sleeping with Morgan, and messing with the pills. She tells Ava to own it for once. Sonny tells her to admit that she’s the reason Morgan spun out of control. He screams at her to say it, and she finally says that she did it

Nathan says it’s Amy’s turn to spill her guts. She says there’s nothing to spill. She tells him that there is a guy that she’s liked since high school. She asks if it’s pathetic, and Nathan says she’s committed. I’m thinking she’s probably a size 2, even though she’s supposed to be the “fat” girl. I saw Kathy Brier (Marcie from One Life to Live) in Hairspray on Broadway, and met her afterward. She’s about half my size, and I’m not all that big. I figure I’d take up the entire screen.

Ava says what now, adding that she’s been tortured every moment since. Carly asks if she can imagine what it was like for Morgan. He finally got control, until she rigged the game. She stole his victory from him, and he blamed himself. Sonny and Carly recite things from his journal, like how he couldn’t understand what was happening, and his parents will be disappointed. Carly thought she’d never hate anyone like she did Olivia-J, but she tells Ava that she was wrong.

Laura tells Lulu that Spencer wants to give Jake his present in person, and never mentioned a magic set. Lulu says she doesn’t think she misunderstood.

Charlotte and Emma introduce the Wizard of Awesome – Jake. Charlotte sneezes, and Jake presents lots of handkerchiefs from his pocket. Franco says there’s nothing to worry about, and Elizabeth tells him to say that when it’s over. The girls bring up the box. Jake taps on the box with his magic wand. He sees Helena, who tells him to let the grand finale begin.

Nathan asks Amy about the reunion planning. Amy says she and Dillon have come up with some good ideas. He hopes Maxie can go. He realizes Amy doesn’t like her, but Amy says she knows Nathan does. He tells Amy that Maxie isn’t evil, and Amy says she’s just selfish, like Daisy from The Great Gatsby, and makes comparisons, ending with how she breaks Gatsby’s heart.

Helena makes an okay sign. Elizabeth asks if Jake is okay, since he’s staring off in the distance, and tells him that he can stop. Helena says, you know what you want, and he says he wants to finish. Andre’s phone rings, and he has to leave. Laura looks awful. She can’t stop thinking about Spencer, and has bad feeling, although she’s not sure why. She tells Jason there’s something he should know that could mean something. Spencer didn’t send the magic set, and nobody knows who did.

Ava tells Sonny and Carly that she didn’t want this to happen; she thought it was harmless. Sonny asks in what universe? She says that she thought someone would notice and send him back to the hospital. Sonny says she made it impossible for him to get help; even if he hadn’t died, he wouldn’t have known the pills weren’t real. The doctor would have upped the dosage, and he would have wandered around in a drug induced haze. Carly calls her an evil, horrible person who seduced her son, and when he was finally free of her, she did this to him, someone she supposedly loved. Ava says they can’t make her feel worse than she does already, and Sonny says he doesn’t know about that. She says she cared deeply for Morgan, and was devastated when he died; the guilt was overwhelming. Carly says she persevered – bravo. (Well, actually, that should be brava in this case.)  Carly says that Morgan is dead because of what she set in motion, and it wasn’t a mistake like with her sister. Ava says that he wasn’t supposed to die, and Carly says, but he did, and she has to live with that. Both she and Carly have raccoon eyes.

Amy tells Nathan she’s sorry that she brought up Maxie; Maxie isn’t a flapper, and he’s not a bootlegger. She asks him to watch her stuff while she goes to ladies room. When she’s gone, a guy thanks Nathan for his advice. When he leaves, a woman appears, telling Nathan that he helped her face the truth – Man Landers to the rescue. Nathan is like wth? When Amy returns, he asks when he became Ask Man Landers? He shows her an advice column on his phone that has his picture at the top.

Sonny says he should have killed Ava, and his son would still be alive. Ava says she’s sorry, but Sonny says she doesn’t get to rob Morgan of his life, and rob him and Carly of Morgan, and say sorry. She says she’ll feel how she feels, and Sonny wonders how Avery is going to feel when she finds out, since she loved her big brother. Kiki knows she’s a monster, and now they have more proof. Ava says as punishment, they’re going to turn her daughters against her, but they’ll be the only ones hurt. Sonny says that the truth will set them free. He’s telling whole world, even if he has to sky write it. Carly says Ava is going to pay, and Sonny says if she’s lucky, after everyone has spit on her and turned their backs, he’ll put her out of her misery. Creepy Sonny.

Jason asks if Laura is sure. She says it’s probably nothing, but thought he should know. He starts to say maybe… but doesn’t finish. He flashes back to Helena saying as good as he is, Jake will be… Laura asks if he’s remembering something. Helena tells Jake that it’s time.

Jake says, now, the final trick that none of them could have ever imagined. Helena says it’s the greatest trick of all, and Jake repeats her words. He opens the box. Jason remembers Helena saying that as good as Jason is, Jake will be the greatest killer of them all. Jason tells Jake to stop.

Amy wonders what Nathan is talking about. Nathan tells her about the people who just approached him, and Amy slips, saying that he did some good. Nathan says he recognized the picture in the column from the card that she stole. Amy prefers the word borrowed, and he realizes that this is what she meant when she said helped more than knew. He asks why she’s pretending her advice is his?

Ava says she assumes they’re done here, but Carly says no. She wants to know if it was fun ruining her son’s life, turning him into someone they didn’t recognize, and that he didn’t either; someone he didn’t want to be. He was scared and confused, blaming himself. Carly will never forgive her. Ava says she doesn’t expect her to. Carly tells her to stop with the sorry business. She picked on a kid. Why doesn’t she mess with someone her own size? Ava throws the lantern to the ground, and it explodes in a ball of fire. Carly falls down, unconscious.

Jason tells Jake that it’s time to shut things down; it’s late and they need to go home. Jake sees Helena waiting. Anna comes up to Jason, and Jake holds up the Chimera. Valentin recognizes it, and gets up. Helena says bravo (which is correct this time), and Jake pushes the button, lighting it up. They all freeze.

On Monday, an encore of the “Good-by to Tracy” espisode. On Tuesday, Amy offers to help save Nathan’s marriage, Helena tells Jake to do what he was born to do, and Ava says they’re not going anywhere.

Things to Ponder…

Who just tries the door and walks right in when someone doesn’t answer? Why do Lifetime movies suck you in with a good plot, and then give you a disappointing ending? Even worse, why do I fall for it every time?

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Hope everyone had a happy and safe New Year’s Eve and Day! Football replaced GH today, and everything was closed, so none of us know what day of the week it is at this point. Weekend + holiday = confusion. That being said, on to more important things. Like gratuitous glimpses of Giggy and endless Range Rover discussions.

Vanderpump Rules

Last week, Tom made made it clear that nobody was going to stand in the way of Ariana’s tiara-ed wine country NASCAR birthday being fabulous or he would be pissed. Lala never shows up for the flight.

Ariana gets a text from her, apologizing for bailing, and saying she’ll make it up to her. In his interview, Jax thinks that Lala believes an apology makes everything okay. He does admit it’s an improvement in conditions, since they’re all going to be in close counters [sic] in the RV rented for the trip. Brittany announces that she gets car sick, and I think of Joe Buck in Midnight Cowboy who only gets car sick on boats. They have a problem just getting out of the parking lot, so I’m skeptical if they’ll make it to wine country.

Stassi is on her way to her own birthday celebration in Montauk. She reminds us that she hasn’t had a birthday trip in two years. We flash back to Jax’s chunky sweatered a-holeness and Katie’s whining on Stassi’s previous birthdays. I’d probably never have another trip again after those fiascoes. The girls have rented a place right on the beach and it’s beautiful.

Scheana has decided to come along, and she hopes that everyone’s attitudes can stay with the sunny weather, which is a very Scheana-like remark to make. Stassi asks Katie how she’s feeling about Scheana being there, and she’s good. Stassi hopes Scheana doesn’t make the trip all about her. Because, you know, it’s the national holiday called STASSI’S BIRTHDAY.

While driving the RV, Tom goes blah-blah-blah about Lala, because the NASCAR VIP tickets were super expensive, but Ariana’s jury is out until she gets the real story. Although she does add that it had better have been important. Brittany decides to FaceTime with Scheana. She tells Scheana and Stassi about Lala not showing up. Scheana is annoyed, since Lala is the reason that she wasn’t invited on the Sonoma trip. However, Stassi has already informed us that Scheana choosing not to go to Montauk would be unbridesmaid-like behavior. Brittany tells Stassi that it’s like a redneck dream in the RV.

At SUR, Lisa and Peter (who looks so different since he shaved, I didn’t recognize him) discuss business. Ariana calls Lisa, asking if she’s seen or heard from Lala, but Lisa thought she was with Ariana. Ariana tells Lisa that Lala bailed with no explanation. Lisa isn’t too happy, since Lala begged for the night off, but tells Ariana to just forget about Lala and have good time. In her interview, Ariana says Lala is shady as hell and she’s over it.

Kristen informs us that since New Yorkers are always on the go, they need to go to the Hamptons to decompress. She doesn’t understand the appeal though, since she never does anything. Scheana tells everyone how Lala never showed for Ariana’s birthday, but everyone agrees that Ariana is better off, because this is “the kind of girl who doesn’t wear underwear to work.” Stassi admits they’re a bunch of haters. Well, at least she’s honest.

Ariana’s crew gets to Sonoma. In his interview, Schwartz tells us that Jax basically stinks because he’s been wearing the same compression garment (man bra) since his breast reduction surgery. Even in the shower. Bleh. Ariana is embarrassed that they’ve pulled up to the winery in a Winnebago. A wine tasting has been set up, but Jax would prefer a vodka tasting. Brittany is down for tequila or whiskey, but also isn’t much of a wine drinker.

Tom suggests that they play a lottery where the loser drinks from the bucket of wine spit. I can only hope he draws the low card or whatever. Or maybe Jax. Too bad. It’s Ariana. Understandably, she hesitates. She holds the floral centerpiece next to her face, so that the people at the other tables don’t see her. News flash. You’re actually making yourself more obvious.

In Montauk, Kristen talks about her nearly perfect relationship. Stassi is still bummed about things not working out so well with Patrick. We flash back to when they were moving in together. Katie asks if she’s okay. Stassi insists that she’s fine, but wipes tears from her eyes.

Ariana says she feels like the RV wants them to be drunken idiots on the road. And they are. They drink tequila as they speed along. Um…should Bravo be letting them do that?

James tells us that he’s traded his alcohol addiction for ice cream. He meets with his mentor, Arthur, while he downs several scoops of some pretty weird flavors. God forgive me, but I’d love to see James get fat. He talks about going to Lisa, and how she turned him down when he asked for his job back. Arthur says that this should be a red flag that James shouldn’t drink, and asks what the real problem is underneath the drinking. James tells him about his family breaking apart, and how that makes him want to drink. He says he feels like a drink, and I tell him he doesn’t look like one. BA-DUM-CHH! Arthur owns a bar, and James asks if he needs a DJ. Arthur says he’ll hire him, but if he takes a drink, he’ll be fired and be given a haircut.

Ariana’s birthday troupe goes to Sonoma Raceway. Ariana and Brittany have shots in the RV. Ariana says she’s having the time of her life, and she’s glad she doesn’t have to dress up. Tom talks to the guys, including Ariana’s brother, about his and Ariana’s sex life, which isn’t happening much. Ariana tells Brittany how she’s constantly telling Tom to back off. Tom talks about something where I go ♫ LA-LA-LA ♫  Jax wonders when he’s going to sabotage his relationship with Brittany, since that’s what he’s best at. Ariana drains the tequila bottle.

Scheana acts like a wet blanket when Stassi’s birthday group wants to have shots, because she’s sticking to her workout regimen. A guy stops by their table (it’s an outdoor bar), and Scheana tells him it’s Stassi’s birthday and she’s 22, when she’s really 28, and I wonder why. In her interview, Stassi says that she was hoping for someone a bit younger to hit on her. I would have been hoping for someone younger. She tells the girls her cut off is 45.

Ariana is absolutely hammered, and Tom loves it. He’s probably hoping for sex. In his interview, Schwartz says that Ariana is more responsible than the rest of them, and rarely gets drunk, but when she does, it’s two-fisted and he thinks she should do it more often.

Another guy comes by Stassi’s table and Scheana gives him the same routine. Stassi says they’re getting warmer. Until he starts talking. Then they’re freezing. A guy named Laertes (!) replaces him. He seems kind of cool, isn’t bad looking, and is rather sylish. Katie monopolizes him and then he jets. Stassi says it’s official that Katie will never be her wingwoman, and worries that she’ll be single forever. I wouldn’t be too concerned at age 22 28.

Commercial break. Omg, I am feeling fat and I can’t stop eating because I am still in holiday mode, and there are still a lot of good leftovers. I need something like one of those talking car alarms, but it will say, Step away from the refrigerator!

James shows up at SUR to talk to Max. Lisa says it’s unfortunate that she can’t fire James from being friends with her son. Lisa asks James if he knows what’s up with Lala. He’s surprised that she didn’t come on Ariana’s birthday trip, and he thinks she’s under her boyfriend’s thumb. He says the boyfriend sometimes follows her, and she’s become very jumpy. In his interview, he says Lala wonders why everyone is so interested, and it’s because she creates interest, making up different stories. In her interview, Lisa says she doesn’t know if Lala’s boyfriend is married, but it’s obvious that her choice in boyfriends is questionable. She tells James not to be a bad influence on Max.

Katie calls Schwartz, who says they have everything they could ask for – beer and an RV. Katie finds it hard to believe that Schwartz could live the RV life, and we see a clip of him in a fluffy robe at a posh hotel, messing with his hair. Tom gets on the phone, and they discuss Lala. Katie is glad everyone is seeing her true colors. They speculate as to whether she might have been abducted by aliens, and what she might be doing for space Range Rovers, because that topic cannot be dropped. Ever. Schwartz is glad that it sounds like there won’t be any raging, angry texts tonight. Katie tells him they’re going skinny-dipping and he says he’ll be right there. The girls all find this highly amusing.

In his interview, Tom talks about Ariana’s last birthday, when she was sad about her father’s death, and he left her in the dust to go to Vegas. He wants to make sure she knows how important she is to him. He tells her how he’ll always be here for her, and in her interview, she says he’s more than redeemed himself, and she has no greater ally.

Jax farts and nearly clears the RV. smh

Once again, Scheana doesn’t want to go with the flow. The girls want to do their skinny-dipping thing, but she says they’re ganging up on her and giving her peer pressure. In her interview, Kristen says she must not have gotten the memo that they always get naked on Stassi’s birthday. Still, Scheana stays ashore in her robe. After the girls get out of the water, Stassi realizes that the lighthouse is pointed toward them and people are cheering.

Next time, NASCAR, the girls hunt up a man for Stassi, and Lala thinks it’s time to leave SUR.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Curtis sees Jordan at the MetroCourt New Year’s Eve party. He asks if he should just keep moving, but she says new year, new us. She’s’ letting go of the past.

Valentin tells Nina that she’s going to outshine the bride. She says be careful; they’re treading on thin ice already. She tells him that Lulu isn’t going to stop until she has Charlotte all to herself.

Kiki freaks a little, thinking there are going to be no bathroom breaks on the bus, but I think that kind of bus usually has a bathroom on it. Dillon tells her to just ignore him. She says if she could do that, she wouldn’t have been on the bus in the first place. He asks if that’s why she’s leaving Port Charles, and she says him, and Valerie. She couldn’t stand the thought of seeing them together.

Nathan tells Dante that he’s still married to Claudette. It might have been a good idea to have double-checked on that before.

Lulu tries to wake Maxie, but has no luck. Robin comes in, and tells Lulu to start a cold shower, and she’ll get coffee. Come hell or high water, Maxie is getting married.

Jason and Sam go to the chapel where Lucy is practicing officiating. It’s really pretty – all white branches and crystal, white roses and balls of holly.

Bobbie asks if Nell recognizes the pill in her hand. Nell says yes, she takes them every day. Bobbie says she found it in Sonny’s bedroom, and asks how hit got there. Nell says she dropped it. Well, that was easy.

Sonny tells Carly that the holidays aren’t the same without her, and asks her to stay. He says it’s going to be hard enough without Morgan, and being together might make it easier. He holds out his hand and asks if they can at least try.

Nathan is understandably bummed. He tells Dante that it was Claudette’s mother who called him. She found the divorce papers, unsigned and never filed. He says Maxie is waiting a floor away for him to marry her, and he can’t.

Maxie squeals and comes running out of the shower. She lies on the bed, but Robin tells her, no you don’t. Lulu brings the hairdryer, and Robin gives her the coffee. Maxie sneezes and spills it all over her wedding dress, which Lulu had put in her lap to get her to focus.

Jason and Sam go into the chapel. Lucy tells them that she hasn’t officiated in a long time, and she’s going to go polish her opening remarks. Jason lights a candle for Morgan. Sam wonders why Winston showed up at Alexis’s house. Jason asks if Alexis is coming, but Sam isn’t sure. She says Alexis has been distant, and wonders if she could have anything to do with Morgan’s death. Boy, is she not connecting the dots.

Jordan tells Curtis that she’s being pressured to wrap up the case, but all she has is a questionable confession and sketchy evidence. The good news is, she got approved to hire him as an outside investigator.

Valentin tells Nina that she was right; Lulu is suing him for full custody. He says as much as he loves Charlotte, he could be deemed unsuitable because he’s a single father who travels a lot.

Nell explains to Bobbie that she was picking something up for Carly, struggled with the childproof cap, and when the bottle popped open, her pills spilled everywhere. Bobbie questions it being dropped months ago, when Sonny has a full-time housekeeper. Nell asks why Bobbie always acts like she’s done something wrong.

Carly tells Sonny that she doesn’t know how they’re going to survive the years without Morgan. She goes down Memory Lane about last New Year’s Eve when Sonny was in the wheelchair. She says they had so much hope. Sonny says hope didn’t die with Morgan, and asks if she isn’t feeling it a little bit. She says she wants to, but there’s a fine line between hope and denial. She realized she has to be realistic about the life they lead and how dangerous it is. As far as she can see, that hasn’t changed.

Maxie says her dress is ruined, but she’s so cold, she doesn’t care. Lulu says she’ll get club soda, but Robin tells her that Maxie is burning up. After finding out that Maxie didn’t get a flu shot, Robin puts her back into bed. Robin suggests postponing the wedding. Maxie gets a text that Spinelli, Georgie and Ellie are stuck in Chicago because of the weather. Lulu says Maxie will have the wedding of her dreams, just not tonight. Nathan comes in.

Maxie asks if Nathan knew she was sick. He says he has bad news.

Kiki tells Dillon about the conversation she overheard between him and Valerie, when they were talking about how the night they spent together was the best. She says she couldn’t stay in Port Charles knowing she would see them together. He says they’re just friends, and on the night they spent together, all they did is talk about how relationships suck.

Valentin tells Nina that he’s not going down without a fight. Nina says contrary to popular belief, he has a support system, and she’ll help him.

Sonny asks if Carly can’t open up. She tells him that she wants that. She misses him and wants it all back, but he can’t promise her that there won’t be another bomb or bullet. She has to walk away.

Robin, Sam and Jason make small talk, and Lucy joins them. Robin tells them that Maxie has the flu and there isn’t going to be a wedding tonight. Lucy asks what she can do, and Robin asks her to make a sign for the door. Lucy leaves, and Sam suggests Robin join them at the MetroCourt. Robin likes the idea, but says there’s someone she has to see first.

Sonny tells Carly that he didn’t put the hit on Morgan. Carly says she believes that, and knows he believes it too. He says by the grace of God they’re still standing, so why can’t they stand together? She says she hates being without him, but hates the thought of someone she loves being harmed more. She tells him she has to go.

Bobbie asks what’s going on between Nell and Michael. Nell says they’re just friends. He even invited her out tonight, and she turned him down. Bobbie says that’s a step in the right direction. She says she knows she comes on strong, but people take advantage. She tells Nell that she’s a Spencer, and that means she won’t let anything or anyone hurt her family. She tells Nell happy New Year and leaves. Nell texts someone.

Michael gets a text from Nell, who’s changed her mind about going out. I’m officially looking forward to a Bobbie/Nell feud.

Curtis tells Jordan it’s not a slam dunk that Sonny is behind this. Jordan says that’s why she wants to hire him. He’s not taking the bait, and she’s surprised that he wants to continue working with Jason. She says what happens when he finds enough to clear Sonny’s name, and Sonny walks again. He says she wants to bury Sonny, and they’re done talking. He turns around to see Andre, who says they’re not.

Maxie tells Nathan what happened and how she ruined her dress. She adds that Spinelli is grounded in Chicago too. Nathan tells her that he’s still married to Claudette. That definitely tops Spinelli being stuck in Chicago.

Lulu tells Dante about what Laura said to her. She says that Laura suggested they aim for shared custody, but she’s going for sole custody.

Kiki tells Dillon that he was the only reason she left Port Charles. He says that she was the only reason that he left.

Nina and Valentin go to the chapel. Valentin says it’s lovely, but kind of empty. Lucy pops out, telling them that the bride is ill and the wedding is postponed. She says that the chapel is going to be closed soon, and leaves to post the sign. Nina asks Valentin if he meant what he said about fighting for Charlotte, and he says he does. She tells him to marry her, and they can fight for Charlotte together.

Maxie wonders if they were set up by Claudette. She tells Nathan that if Valentin wasn’t such a bad guy, she’d feel sorry for him.

A priest comes to close the chapel. Nina asks if he can marry them right now. He tells them that they need a license, and there’s no way he can get one that fast on New Year’s Eve. Valentin says if he’s willing to marry them, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Dante tells Lulu he’s in. Lulu says she should have talked to him first, but she was afraid he’d say she was being unreasonable. He says she’s being very reasonable.

Valentin calls a judge and says the license will be there within an hour. The priest leaves them to prepare. Valentin gives Nina one of the floral decorations for her bouquet.

Nell shows up at the MetroCourt to meet Michael. Carly says she’s happy to see them together. Michael asks why Carly is there, and she says she’s working. Nell tells her that there’s an old saying, if you spend New Year’s alone, you’ll be alone all year, and asks if she wants to tempt Fate. Carly says it’s almost midnight, and leaves to attend to business. Michael tells Nell now he knows why she took him up on his offer.

Dante tells Lulu to trust that they’re a team and she’s not doing this alone. She says she does. He asks how Valentin could ever prove he has a good home life for Charlotte? They kiss.

Nina and Valentin’s wedding ceremony begins. With no witnesses.

Kiki explains to Dillon that when she said it was hard to be with him, it didn’t mean that she didn’t want to be with him. He asks what now. She says they toast, and pulls out a bottle of champagne. She obviously comes prepared. Kiki tells Dillon that it’s Fate, and sometimes it isn’t cruel.

Nathan tells Maxie that nothing is going to prevent him from spending the rest of his life with her, and he loves her. She says that she loves him too. He asks if she’s going to make it to midnight, and she says she wouldn’t miss kissing him.

Andre apologizes to Curtis, especially about answering Jordan’s phone and not telling her that he called. He tells Curtis that it won’t happen again, and they wish each other happy New Year. Andre moves on to Jordan, who doesn’t want to talk about Curtis. He tells her how beautiful she looks in the necklace that he gave her. She’s happy with the gift, and I would be too – he has great taste in chokers.

Nell tells Michael that they obviously didn’t get through to his mom. He says it might take years, but she and Sonny will find their way back to each other – it’s inevitable.

Jason and Sam join the party, and Sam asks Carly about Sonny. Carly says she just can’t. Sam says anything can happen at any time. She never knows if Jason will be taken away from her, so she stays in the present and grabs the moment. She asks if Carly can do that. Even just for tonight.

Robin goes to Sonny’s place. He’s glad to see her. He tells her about how Morgan didn’t die because of him, and she says what a heavy burden must have been lifted. She asks about Carly. He says she doesn’t trust him, but he doesn’t blame her. Robin tells him that any man who’s capable of facing his darkest thoughts in the depths of despair can do anything. She has to leave, but tells him he’ll be okay.

Michael and Nell wonder where Carly went.

Nina and Valentin say their vows. They might be crazy, but these two are pretty cool. He takes ribbons from the ornaments and they use them for rings. Cool overload.

Carly goes back to Sonny’s house. They wish each other happy New year and kiss.

On the bus, Dillon and Kiki swig from the champagne bottle. He says it’s been a rough year, but they made it. They kiss.

No surprise, Maxie has fallen asleep. Nathan gets into bed beside her.

Robin calls Patrick, wishing him happy New Year.

Sam and Jason look forward to the year to come, and baby Scout.

Michael and Nell dance. Michael makes a sort of toast, saying to better days for all of us, as he twirls her around.

Andre tells Jordan that he loves her. She says she loves him too. They kiss.

Dante and Lulu toast to the year of their daughter.

Nina and Valentin are pronounced man and wife.

Tomorrow is rerun, but next week, Sam confronts Alexis, Franco insists that he didn’t kill Tom, and Lulu wonders how a fight with Nina could affect the custody case.

Quotes of the Week

Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. Carrie Fisher – funny, Caroline #1’s husband said almost the same thing to her on Ladies of London this week. It’s probably an old one, but we’ll give it to Carrie. RIP.

Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.Carrie Fisher, April 2013, in an interview with the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Really thin is not attractive. I was always little, but my mother was not a skinny lady. She had big boobs and a divine, voluptuous figure. I think everyone should get over the whole thin thing.Debbie Reynolds, The Telegraph, 2014.

The only way you learn is by failure.Debbie Reynolds

So farewell to the way-too-many we lost in 2016, looking forward to 2017, and wishing you all good things always. Stay safe on New Year’s Eve. See you next year!

December 18, 2016 – Vintage Christmas Holly Jollies, a Little Atlanta & a Small Dose of Medicine

Standard

Now for Something Completely Different

While there are some Sunday night shows I’m watching, like The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Married to Medicine (see below), nothing is happening with the shows I’m blogging, so I thought I’d share a little Christmas humor.

In 1979, I was young, single, and living in NYC. I still went home for Christmas though, and a friend of mine stayed at my apartment in Manhattan that year to babysit my cat, Eric. (So named after Monty Python‘s Eric the Cat.) When I got back, I found this note. In explanation, my railroad flat was once a hotel room and had a decorative fireplace. And be forewarned, there are curse words ahead.

Christmas Eve, 1979

Dear Theresa,

Well, I was here! Where the hell were you?

After all the trouble I had getting here, too. Do you realize how goddamn hard it is to guide 8 reindeer through New York City? They all want to stop and look at the tall buildings and buy pretzels. They all bugged the hell out of me, trying to con me into taking them to Radio City.

Then, trying to land on that goddamn filthy roof of yours. Doesn’t anybody clean around here? There was so much fuckin’ pigeon shit around, Dancer slipped and almost ended up as flying venison.

Then I struggle and squeeze, and damn near burst my spleen trying to get down the chimney. I finally make it through – and you bricked up the fuckin’ fireplace!

I had to climb all the way back up to the roof, walk down the fire escape and get in through the front door. (If Jane didn’t leave your key for me – I wouldn’t have even gotten in!)

And then, do you think I could go up in the elevator? Oh no! I had to trudge up those cruddy stairs. Four whole flights I walked!

So I get in, finally. And where are you? Gone. I don’t even get the satisfaction of sneaking around so you don’t wake up. It’s the best part of being Santa Claus, goddamn it, and I couldn’t. If it weren’t for your crazy cat sleeping in the sink, it would have been a total loss.

By the way – do you know your cat is fencing stolen goods? I found a whole mess of TVs and stereos… well, never mind.

And the topper of it all. The thing that really, really burns me up is that you didn’t even leave me a goddamn glass of milk and a few lousy cookies! Nothing! I open the fridge and – nada! Not even a lousy j!

Thanks a heap, Theresa.

All in all, you really fucked me over, and don’t think I’m gonna forget it!

Santa Claus

P.S. Just stopped by on my way back from Ohio. So there you were! OK, all’s forgiven. But next time, drop me a note if you aren’t going to be in. You know my address. Merry Christmas.

🎅 Wherever you are, Jane Lindberg, you’re still making me laugh after almost 40 years.

👒 A quick note on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Kenya and Matt’s relationship seems to have taken a nosedive, which I find sad, since it looked like she’d found the right guy. Unfortunately, he’s shown a somewhat violent temper, and broke one of her garage door windows during an argument. Not a good sign. It’s hard to tell if they’ll end up working things out. I think it depends on whether or not Matt is willing to go to some kind of counseling. Kenya’s father has been a real champ though, supporting her all the way, and even trying to talk to Matt himself.

Phaedra is still the same self-righteous a-hole. There’s no way I could be friends with her. She has to be the phoniest member of the Housewives franchise, and that’s saying a lot. If you look up “two-faced” in the dictionary, her picture is there. Porsha has a new old boyfriend, whom she dated years ago. She decides to bring him to a family dinner, where he’s barraged with questions about his “intentions.” Even Jesus gets an earful during grace.

I often get distracted by the outfits on this show. Especially when Phaedra wears some kind of poufy thing. Or a hat. I was twice as distracted tonight, when Phaedra and Kandi met for a disastrous lunch. Kandi called Phaedra out for everything she’d ever done since the earth cooled, and Phaedra pretended she had no idea what Kandi was talking about, and Kandi must be crazy. But I digress from my digression. Kandi was wearing a gorgeous, but busy, off-the-shoulder dress, in a humongous floral pattern, and Phaedra was wearing some white concoction that I kept trying to figure out. I don’t know how I was supposed to concentrate on the conversation. All I know is, it didn’t end well.

🚑 As for Married to Medicine, this one is like watching a train wreck for me. You’d think that a group of women who are doctors and/or married to doctors would be somewhat mature, but no. However, it’s flabbergasting to see how incredibly childish they are. Hats off to Dr. Jackie, often the only voice of reason. She finally blew a gasket last week, while doing a nude photo shoot for breast cancer awareness. She’d invited the girls along for support, but they couldn’t stop their loud, petty quarreling for five minutes, and she had to kick them out. It’s a shame that a show that could have so much going for it, frequently reduces itself to Jersey Shore status. I’d also love to know where they find these people. What are the odds of a medical maven also being the first to start a bar brawl? That’s not to say the ladies are one-dimensional – this season’s storyline about Simone’s missing father is heart-wrenching – but they’re not kids and need to learn when to put a lid on it.
