What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

The show was on for a couple of minutes, when ABC broke in with news about the school shooting in Santa Fe. I get that, but it had happened several hours earlier, and, as usual, went way past the point of giving us news. That’s what I hate. My problem isn’t with the news itself, but all the amenities that come with it, like interviewing the janitor’s second cousin who witnessed nothing, but knows when it’s going to rain. Seriously, unless the world is coming to an end – and I mean literally, like if the sun is hurtling toward us – or we’re being invaded, I don’t see the point and it’s just irritating. Later, I was able to watch what I missed online with Verizon, but they usually don’t list it the same day. Lucky me, I didn’t have to imagine the lips syncing with the words on a pirated version.

General Hospital

Molly introduces Alexis, but she’s busy eavesdropping on Anna and Finn backstage. Finn tells Anna he’s never stopped caring. She’s never far from his mind and heart, and he wouldn’t want anything to happen without her knowing he cared.

Jason stops by Nelle’s room to find Michael. Michael asks if she’ll be okay for a few minutes. She says sure, and then the show gets interrupted for news that can wait an hour. I catch up a few hours later. Jason gives Nelle a stupid look. In the hallway, Jason tells Michael that Carly didn’t push Nelle, and deep down he knows that.

Finn apologizes to Anna for taking so long to tell her. Alexis makes herself known.

Nina doesn’t understand why Valentin is so eager to leave; he still has to perform. He promised Lucy, and Nina tells him not to let her down. She asks if something is going on.

Sam looks at the lighter on Peter’s desk, and sees the initials, CF. She says, Cesar Faison. She remembers Jason telling her about Faison carrying it, and that it wasn’t with his belongings. At the time, she’d said, if they find the lighter, they find Henrik.

Alexis, Finn, and Anna all look at each other. Alexis walks away. Finn says he should – and Anna says, yeah, he should. On stage, Lucy apologizes for the glitch. Alexis comes out to applause, but she keeps moving, and goes out the door. Mike points out to Sonny that she’s upset, and asks if he wants to go after her. Sonny says it doesn’t have anything to do with him.

Valentin tells Nina that he wants to get away with the two people that matter to him the most, her and Charlotte. Nina reminds him that his song at last year’s ball convinced her to give him another chance. He screwed up. Here’s his chance not to do it again.

Sam says Peter was in the hospital the night Faison died. She sees his copy of The Severed Branch. She flips through it, and says, just like it happened in the book.

Michael knows Jason will always defend his mother, and he’s grateful, but he wasn’t there. Jason says, neither was he. Jason asks what Nelle said. Michael says she told him that his mom lost control. Jason say that’s proof Nelle is lying. Carly would never risk her grandchild. He knows she would lie down in front of a train for her family. Michael says, under normal circumstances, and it’s been anything but normal lately. Jason insists it’s Nelle sabotaging Carly’s life.

On stage, Lucy says it’s not the Nurses’ Ball without some drama, but they’re not letting it ruin a good time. She tells the audience to kick it up a notch for the rocker others call Eddie Maine, but they call him Mr. Mayor. He and his first lady are spearheading the rebuilding of their city. In 60s garb with a flower power background, Olivia plays the tambourine, and Ned sings, (What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding. Excellent.

Colleen Sullivan tells us to stay tuned for more glamor, excitement, and surprises. They’re just getting started.

Jason tells Michael there have been calls from a payphone near where Morgan died, a replica of his scarf, the power outage and intruder at Bobbie’s house, and Carly finds Morgan’s picture on the floor, broken. Michael asks if he thinks Nelle did all that. He’s going to have to prove it. Jason says like he’ll prove the blanket is real. Jason gets a call from Sam, but asks her to hold on. He says he needs Michael to be careful, for the baby’s sake and himself. Michael says Jason has given him a lot to think about. Jason gets back on the phone, and asks Sam what’s going on. She says she needs to see him. It’s important.

Molly – in a very becoming sleeveless gown that looks like it’s made out of blue/green glitter – tells Finn that whatever he said to upset her mother, she’s completely humiliated. So don’t apologize or try to fix it, just accept the fact that he’s a jerk and leave her alone. Anna says, oh dear. Ha-ha! She’s so British sometimes. He says it didn’t go exactly as planned. Anna says, for the record, she’s not dying. Finn says, for the record, he meant everything he said. Anna says she cares a lot about him too. Oh, kiss already.

Ava suggests she and Griff take advantage of his room upstairs; she could use a warm-up before her performance. Griff says he wants to watch the rest of show, She says it’s cool.

Stella tells Sonny it’s manifestly none of her business, but sometimes an outsider can pick up on things another person is too close to see. Sonny asks where she’s going with this. She tells him that he has a stare that could freeze a blasting furnace. Putting it on the woman who is the mother of his child might not be the wisest thing. Mike tells her to forgive him; he has a helluva temper. Sonny says it’s difficult to be in the same room, especially tonight, but she’s right. It’s not a good thing to show the world how you feel. Stella agrees. Sonny raises his glass to Ava, who’s like, huh?

Backstage, Kim asks Josslyn and Oscar if they’re ready. Drew joins them. Oscar says he didn’t know Drew was coming, and Kim says, neither did she. Drew says once he heard Oscar was performing, he couldn’t be stopped. Oscar hugs him, and says, thank you. Everyone smiles.

Anna says Finn needs to find Alexis and apologize. He says, yes, he does. Anna tells him that she’s not staying much longer. She looks at text from Henrik: Midnight. Pier 55. Come alone. She says she has a meeting. She can’t tell him about it, but after tonight, she’ll be closer to it all being over. She tells him to go find Alexis.

Alexis sits at the bar. The bartender asks what he can get her. She looks at the bottles.

Michael goes back to Nelle’s room. She tells him that she’s gotten the all-clear from the doctors. She’s being released tomorrow. He says that’s good news. She asks if there’s something wrong. He says Jason was telling him what was going on with his mother. She thinks someone is harassing her; messing with her head for months now.

Finn sits next to Alexis. She says he found her. He tells her the concierge saw her take the elevator. He says, that’s not a double-vodka? She says, it’s a club soda, and she wishes people would stop acting as if she’s dying for a bottle of gin every time she feels crappy. Finn says he never meant to hurt her; he’s sorry. She says he has nothing to be sorry for, and he didn’t hurt her. She just hurts. She knew he still cared about Anna; it’s not on him. He didn’t do anything. She allowed herself to be a prop in the game he was playing with Anna.

Anna starts to text Henrik. Robin startles her, and asks what’s up with her and Finn. Anna says it’s complicated, and suggests they go and enjoy the show.

Peter is messing with his phone, and Maxie says, more work? He tells her these are the last ones, and goes out to the hallway. Julian asks Molly if she’s getting nervous about Finn. She says she doesn’t want to fight with him – he did save her life – but her mother is in a vulnerable place. He’d better think long and hard before he does anything for Alexis’s sake. Julian says he’s not sure what means. She thinks he does. Kim asks what Julian doing about Alexis, and Julian says he’s here with her, and they should get back to their seats; her son is performing. Lucy says the Nurses’ Ball is known for spotlighting younger performers, and introduces Molly and Oscar. This is when the news released us back to the program. Or rather, commercials, then the program.

Molly sings, while Oscar accompanies her on the guitar. I think the name of the song is I Never Knew, but I’m not positive. I’m not familiar with it, and come up empty in a subsequent search. Sam shows Jason the lighter. She says she found it in Peter’s office. She was confused at first, since he said he wasn’t a smoker. She remembered he’d said he had to confront Faison about something in the hospital the night Faison died. Jason says Faison was honest for once. He’d said Henrik was hiding in plain sight. Jason says, Peter August is Henrik.

Mike tells Molly she was spectacular, and tells Oscar his date is pretty, but not as gorgeous as Stella. Kim motions Oscar over.

Kiki asks if she can sit at Molly’s table. Molly thought she was sitting with Dr. Bensch, but Kiki says she wants to be with people her own age.

Kim asks if Oscar is glad now that he took music lessons. I’m assuming that means she forced him to take them.

Michael asks Nelle if his mom mentioned anything to her. Nelle says she rambled about a disappearing note and Morgan’s cologne, but she wasn’t making sense. Something starts to beep on Nelle’s monitor. She begins to panic, and Michael tells her, just breathe.

Sam tells Jason that Peter is with Maxie, and asks how they’re going to do this.

Maxie tells Peter that she’s not feeling so great, and asks him to take her home. Valentin watches.

Robin asks if Anna is leaving already; there’s a lot left. She asks if it has to do with the emails she’s been receiving. Anna is cagey, and says she wouldn’t leave if it wasn’t important.

Lucy tells Valentin it’s his turn.

Kim asks Julian if he’s thinking about going after Alexis. Julian says he’s here with her. She says they promised to be honest with each other. He says they’re having a great time. She tells him if he needs a friend, he has one, and leaves.

Finn tells Alexis that she was never a prop. He fell for Anna more than he wanted to admit. He wasn’t using her; he wanted to move on. Alexis says that’s why they call it a rebound. There’s a good reason why people in same AA meeting shouldn’t hook up. He says it’s not about that; it’s about him. She deserves better. Alexis says that she needs him to not be there right now, and he wisely leaves.

Kim sees Olivia looking into the swag bags, and Olivia says she’s taking advantage of the break to snoop in the bags. We get an advertisement for Olay with Kim pitching the product.

Michael says he didn’t mean to upset Nelle. She tells him that she was so scared when Carly pushed her; she was out of control. Michael asks if she’s sure Carly pushed her, and she says, she absolutely pushed her. He tells her to get some rest. She says she’ll be fine, because he’s there.

Mike sees Deanna, and says he found his favorite nurse at the Ball. Deanna says, since it’s the Nurses’ Ball, the odds of that were pretty likely. Stella introduces mike to Felix. She thinks they’ll get along well.

Jason asks Robin if her mom is still there. He has to talk to her. Robin says she left, and asks, what’s up? He tells her Anna will explain when there’s time. Sam tells him that Peter left with Maxie. She thinks he’s meeting with someone. They have to get into Peter’s email account.

In the car, Maxie apologizes to Peter for making him leave early. He says he had to work anyway. He asks how she’s feeling, and she says like the baby is doing a kickboxing workout. She suddenly tells him to pull over. Her water just broke. Shouldn’t they jet to the hospital? Peter asks if she’s sure, and she says, very, and she’s done this before. She says they have no time to get to the hospital. There’s something wrong with the baby. Where’s that Star Trek transporter they always use?

Julian sees Alexis at the bar. Kim asks if she can join Drew. He’d thought Julian was her date. She says he had to see someone; she’s flying solo. They go in and sit together.

Jason and Sam go into Peter’s office. Jason leaves a message for Spinelli. He tells Sam that they don’t have a lot of time. They need to hack into Peter’s email. He pushes the keyboard toward her

Lucy tells the audience to give themselves a hand, and to keep the momentum going. The next performance was a surprise addition to last year’s Ball. He was so good, they asked him to come back. Valentin sits at the piano, and performs Peter Gabriel’s Book of Love, accompanying himself. He sings to Nina, and she smiles. He is really good.

As the song finishes, Robin get up. Robert is on stage. He punches out Valentin.

On Monday, David follows Kiki, Robert wants justice, and Anna waits for Henrik. Who is busy delivering a baby.

👗 Since I know my dress descriptions were lacking, you can see some of them here. I voted for Sam.

🏰 Sadly, tonight was the Once Upon A Time finale. Since they shoved it into the death spot on Friday night, and I knew it was the last season, I found it hard to commit, so I hadn’t watched much of it. I figured I’d catch up on a rainy weekend some time. I did want to see the end though, and it was sweet. They brought in many of the old characters for the farewell. In a nutshell, Rumpel/Gold and Belle were reunited at last, in heavenly clouds. All the realms were united, and Regina was chosen to lead them. Snow White and Prince Charming officiated at the coronation, crowning her The Good Queen. Emma called it a happy beginning, since Regina didn’t like endings, and the stories were far from over. However, Regina thought second chance was a better choice. because in the end, they could get past it all – with hope. And we saw the sign, saying, Leaving Storybrooke. Sad face.

🍖 It was also the finale of MasterChef Junior. The final three – Quani, Beni, and Avery – had to create a three-course meal. For their entrees, they each gathered inspiration from their roots, cooking catfish, veal chops, and a ribeye, respectively. A lot of attention was given to Quani having elevated the catfish. Apparently, none of the judges were a fan of it, which surprised me, since I like catfish. Although it sounded like one of those things that, if it’s not done exactly right, you don’t want to eat it. When they moved on to the dessert, and Quani’s tart broke, so did my heart. It was not a happy moment. Beni was the big winner, and the young chefs ended with a group hug. I have to confess, I both rooted for Avery, and was glad she didn’t win. She’s eight. Eight. And cooks better than anyone I will ever know.

⛲ Quotes of the Week

All from the same poetess.

A lifetime isn’t forever, so take the first chance, don’t wait for the second one! Because sometimes, there aren’t second chances! And if it turns out to be a mistake? So what! This is life! A whole bunch of mistakes! But if you never get a second chance at something you didn’t take a first chance at? That’s true failure. —  C. Joybell C.

Ends are not bad things, they just mean that something else is about to begin. And there are many things that don’t really end, anyway, they just begin again in a new way. Ends are not bad and many ends aren’t really an ending; some things are never-ending.C. Joybell C.  Or as Semisonic put it more simply, every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.

We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don’t even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It’s time to put an end to this. It’s time for us to let ourselves be loved. — C. Joybell C.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Nick Viall (The Bachelor) tells us that things are heating up on the red carpet. It’s a night of glitz, glamour, and especially heart.

Jason tells Sonny that Carly will be okay. Sonny is afraid she’s breaking down. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before.

Nina is in a magnificent red mermaid gown, with sparkly straps and accents. Valentin tells her how wonderful she looks, and that it makes him want to do unspeakable things. He’ll share her tonight, but after the Ball, he’s whisking her away for a fabulous vacation. He has tickets and passports for the both of them and Charlotte. Nina says, tonight?

Anna texts Henrik that she’s eager to meet him, and awaits further instructions. Robin arrives, and wonders why Anna is still in her robe. Anna says she needs a hug.

Robert feels along the walls of the cell he’s trapped in, but there are no secret passageways. There’s nothing except chipped paint. It looks like a really bad dorm room. He says there has to be a way out.

Sam stops in front of Peter’s office, but moves on when she realizes he’s inside. He looks at Anna’s message, and flips the lighter. Maxie enters wearing silver sequins. He has something to give to her. I wonder if it’s a prom corsage, but he hands her a velvet jewelry box.

Backstage on the phone, Lucy says everything had better be Velcroed, snapped, and sticky taped within an inch of its life. She wants no wardrobe malfunctions. She talks to one of the stagehands, and says no one is falling off the stage at the Nurses’ Ball. This makes me wonder if she’ll be falling off the stage when she has this year’s wardrobe malfunction. She tells herself it’s going to be fine. She tells her llama, it’s just you and me, Benny. My apologies for thinking the llama was a camel yesterday.

On the red carpet, Franco asks Nick if he can take the mic, promising nothing will have to be bleeped; it’s important to him. Nick hands the mic over, saying they have an impromptu guest commentator. Franco introduces Elizabeth Imogene Webber as the heart and soul of General Hospital, and the woman he hopes to call his wife. Elizabeth thanks Nick for indulging Franco, and thanks us all for watching. Nick says it was unusual, but he couldn’t have done it better. Franco and Elizabeth get their pictures taken.

Lucy rants about the menu cards. Olivia is freaking out, and Lucy asks if something is wrong. Olivia says she’ll handle it. Lucy tells her it’s the Nurses’ Ball. Nothing can go wrong.

Jason tells Sonny that Carly would never jeopardize her grandchild’s life; Nelle is lying. Sonny understands why he wants to believe that, but Carly’s been unraveling for weeks. Jason has to leave, but says he’ll be in touch.

At the hospital, Kiki is working. David gives her a list of files to pull and have on his desk by 7 am. Kiki yawns, and he asks if she’s tired, but she says no, she’ll be happy to do it. Molly calls her, and she says it’s nice of her, but it doesn’t look like she’s making it to the Ball. She has too much work. She’s bummed too, but maybe next year. David overhears.

Finn looks at some charts in his office, and thinks about seeing Anna’s will. Alexis walks in, and says he looks dapper. He thought he was picking her up, but she figured she’d save him a trip. He asks if she was too antsy to wait, and she says being the center of attention isn’t her favorite thing. She’s looking forward to their date and his introduction though, but he says she might want to hold her enthusiasm until she hears it. They leave for the Ball.

Nina tell Valentin that Charlotte isn’t out of school yet. He wants to go someplace that makes her smile, where they can relax and connect as a family. She says she’ll think about it, but right now, she has to rock the red carpet.

Robin doesn’t think Anna is listening, and asks what’s going on? Anna says it’s just a case she’s working on. Robin says, mm-hmm, Anna asks what that means. Robin asks if the case would happen to be named Hamilton Finn, but Anna says he’s moved on and so has she. There are no unresolved feelings. Anna goes to get dressed, and Robin laughs.

Peter tells Maxie that he hopes he’s not overstepping. He saw it and it reminded him of her, but she’s not obligated to keep. She asks if she can see it first, and he opens the box to reveal a stunning necklace with three pear shaped diamonds going across the chain. He says she can take it back if it’s too much. She tells him to slow his roll. She says it’s beautiful, and it is too much, but she’s learned in life never to return jewelry. I’m thinking it’s funny how when a character is given a necklace, they’re never wearing one, even when they’re in a formal gown. He puts in on her, and she asks how it looks. He says, like it was made for her.

Nina gets to the Ball, and Nick introduces her as his co-host. Josslyn, in a pink sleeveless gown with sparkling flower appliques, comes in with Oscar. She says she feels like Cinderella. Oscar tells her that she’s prettier. He kisses her, and I’m in love – with her matching pink tassel earrings.

At the Ball, Jason sees Spinelli, who says his services are at Jason’s disposal. Jason says Carly is locked up until morning. He can’t help her tonight, so Spinelli can help follow-up on the search for Henrik. Spinelli thought it was important to be there for Maxie. Jason says he’ll examine all claims, and try to figure out how Nelle set Carly up.

Stella visits Sonny, who tells her that he had to fire another nurse. She says sometimes it takes a while, but he’ll find the right fit. Mike comes out, saying he thought he heard the voice of an angel, and he was right. He asks if she can keep them company for a while, but she has to cut it short; she’s going to the Nurses’ Ball. Mike says they have to go. He performed in it once. Sonny says they’re not going, but Mike goes upstairs to put on his tux. Sonny laughs.

Jordan, wearing a burgundy gown with sequin accents and a keyhole neckline, walks in with Curtis. Nina says they’re the perfect ensemble for special occasion, and tells them take everything in and have a blast.

Olivia sits in the Quartermaine living room with someone we don’t see yet. She says it’s the biggest night of the year, and she forgot the chef had a scheduling conflict. Carla Hall, playing Cook 2, is in the other chair, and says she has the perfect solution. Olivia says, she’ll cover her at the hotel? Cook says, no, she can cook.

Jason goes to Anna’s room, and Robin hugs him. She says she’s ready hear about their adventure in Switzerland. Emma was living her best life, picking out a suit for him. Jason says it’s good she and Anna are spending time together; things have been hectic with a case. Robin says, so there actually is a case. She thought it was just a disagreement with Finn. Jason doesn’t know about that, but she’s fixated on finding Henrik. Robin asks if she should be worried, but he says just stay close. If Anna confides in anyone, it will be her.

When they get to the Ball, Peter tells Maxie that they don’t have to do the red carpet, but she says it’s hugely important night to show their support. An interviewer asks if she’s looking forward to anything in particular. She says fashion is her weakness, but her favorite part is that everyone steps outside of themselves and comes together to do good. Nina says word on the street is that it’s Peter’s first Nurses’ Ball, and asks what he’s expecting. He says he’s heard it’s the night to expect the unexpected. Valentin looks shocked to see him.

Valentin walks in, and Nick says Valentin obviously had the good taste to marry his co-host. Valentin says he’d do anything for this woman. He hugs Nina, and looks at Peter over her shoulder.

Robert lies on the cot. He looks at a barred window that’s high up.

Anna is startled to see Jason. Robin says she’ll meet her downstairs. Anna says she didn’t expect to see him, and he asks if she’s reached out to Henrik. She says she’s still waiting for a reply. Jason asks if she’s going to tell him, and she says, of course. He says as much as she doesn’t want him to find Henrik first – Anna says, and kill him – he doesn’t want her to walk into a trap. They need to stick to the plan, and work together. Anna agrees.

Maxie is surprised to see Spinelli.

David asks Kiki why she didn’t remind him the Nurses’ Ball was tonight. He tells her work can wait; she deserves a night off. She asks if this is a trick, and he says to go and enjoy herself. She says she’ll be back bright and early in the morning. He tells her to have fun.

Olivia says she knows she and Cook 2 have had their differences. Cook says Olivia blatantly ignored her wishes. Olivia says it’s a big kitchen; she thought they could share. Cook says she can have the whole kitchen at the MetroCourt to herself. Olivia says, help me, Cook 2, you’re my only hope. She can’t do it by herself.

Ooh, Sam’s dress! It’s navy and red, off-the-shoulder with short lacy sleeves, and sparkly. Nearly all the women have seriously plunging necklines. Alexis and Finn arrive, and Nick says even though she didn’t win the mayoral election, she’s clearly won the people’s hearts. Anna walks in while she’s texting, and trips. Finn catches her in a dip. Nick asks if Alexis and Sam made a pact to come solo, and Nina says, female empowerment! Alexis says she’s actually there with Finn. Robin tells Anna, sure there are no unresolved feelings.

Sonny can’t believe his wife spending time in jail. No way is he putting on a tux and going to the Ball. Stella asks if there’s anything he can do for Carly tonight, and he says, no. She says, but there is something he can do for his father. He says it doesn’t feel right, and she says Mike has Alzheimer’s; his time is short. Opportunities like this won’t come around very often. If she was him, she’d take it. Mike comes down in his tux, saying he needs help with his tie. Sonny says if Mike really wants to go, they’re going. Mike says this beautiful woman here is his date.

Robin and Anna walk the carpet. Robin is wearing a sparkling silver brocade number, and Anna is wearing a pretty purple blazer with a blue sash and black pants, but I’m wondering why no gown? Does she think she’ll have to jet? Anna says they’re there tonight so others can life live as successfully as Robin, and hopefully, one day they’ll eradicate HIV and AIDS.

Elizabeth tells Franco nice of him to slip in her middle name. He says it’s hands down, his favorite thing about her.

Spinelli brings Maxie something to drink, and takes her in to find a chair. Sam thanks Peter for taking care of her. He says he would have come alone, so they’re helping each other. Curtis watches them, and Jordan says, eyes on her. They kiss.

Olivia tells Cook how much respect she has, but Cook says flattery will get her nowhere. Olivia says it isn’t flattery; she thinks Cook is a culinary genius. Cook says she didn’t think that when she was infiltrating her kitchen with her manicotti. Olivia tells her it’s for a wonderful charity, and she doesn’t want people to starve, does she? Cook says she’ll do it on one condition. Swear on her favorite skillet that she’ll never set foot in the Quartermaine kitchen again.

Kiki walks the carpet in silver sequins. Ava, wearing black sequins, comes in with Griff. Lucy says she heard Ava is gracing the stage. Griff says Ava is a woman of many talents. Lucy tells her, good luck, and Ava asks if she doesn’t mean, break a leg. Lucy tells her, good luck.

Sam stands in the empty room before everyone comes in. Jason sees her, and their music plays. He asks if she’s taking a breather, and she says it’s a little much out there. He tells her that she looks beautiful. She takes it that he’s not coming, and he says he gave a donation. She asks what he’s up to, and he says he’s using the Ball as a cover to work on finding Henrik. Sam says she has her own thing going on. He tells her again that she’s beautiful, and I roll my eyes.

Josslyn tells Oscar that she’s having the best time ever, and the Ball hasn’t even started. She walked the red carpet with her boyfriend, who she’s in love with. He says he loves her too, and they kiss.

Elizabeth sees Robin, who asks if anything is going on. Elizabeth says, not a thing. Everything is back to normal, better than normal. Franco comes up behind her, and puts his arms around her. She says she’s happier than she’s ever been. Robin says she’s happy for them both.

Ava drinks a martini, which Griff calls liquid courage. Kiki asks if she’s ready to bring the house down.

Maxie introduces Peter to Robin. He says Robert Scorpio is her father, and she says, the legend himself.

Valentin asks Anna if she’s enjoying herself. She tells him that she’s sure Robert will do what’s needed with Henrik. Valentin is sure he will.

Not much he can do from a cell though. Robert starts to rub one of his arms, and keels over. Hmm… Is he having a heart attack, or does he think someone is watching through the window?

Cook tells Olivia, those are the terms; take it or leave it. Olivia says, okay, fine. She swears on her favorite skillet that she will never again set foot in the Quartermaine kitchen. Cook says, then she has chef for the Nurses Ball. They shake hands.

Mike, Sonny, and Stella come in; Stella in black and silver sequins. Sonny is asked why the Ball is important to him, and he talks about Stone dying, and says he doesn’t want another person dying from the disease. Nina asks who the beautiful lady is, and Mike says she’s with him. Sonny isn’t keen on the picture taking, but Mike says he’s out on the town with his son and best girl, and wants photo evidence; he might not remember. Sonny doesn’t want to do it, but Stella makes him take a photo with Mike.

Lucy walks the carpet with her llama, who is apparently also her date, in a black and white, open shouldered gown. She says it’s a magical evening. Nina tells her to have fun, and she says she always does.

Robin sees Sonny and they hug. Jordan tells Curtis that she didn’t know Stella would be there. He says neither did he. Finn asks Alexis how nervous she is, and she says on a scale of one to ten, she’s at 6,759, but she’s got this. Kiki tells Ava that she would have been disappointed if she missed her performance. David says, fancy seeing Kiki here.

On the phone, Valentin sets up security for the house in Morocco.

Robert lies on the floor unconscious.

Sonny asks Olivia if she’s okay. She says there was a minor crisis, but she has it handled. Although it cost more than she thought.

The doors open. Everyone is seated. Lucy welcomes them to the Nurses Ball, and they applaud. Peter and Valentin glare at each other.

Next time, Chase hopes he didn’t ruin a surprise, Peter says he’ll handle Anna himself, Sam is going to see what Peter is hiding, and of course, the entertainment. I loved Carla Hall, and hope she continues to be a recurring character even after the Ball is over.

Ramona picks up Sonja in a limo. They’re going outside of the city. Sonja says she doesn’t even like to walk out of her neighborhood. It’s Ramona’s way of apologizing. Sonja said what hurt her was Ramona not being supportive at LuAnn’s lunch. Ramona says sorry she disappointed Sonja, but she didn’t know what to do. In her interview Sonja says their friendship isn’t worth the pettiness. They go to an upscale store, where Ramona is friends with the owner. They look at a chinchilla coat and I go, eww. Have you ever seen one? They’re adorable.

LuAnn meets with someone named Ben about doing a cabaret act. It’s something she’s always dreamed of doing. She’s terrified, and that’s why she has to do it; it makes her strong. In her interview, she says she sang on Broadway once, and Liza Minelli told her, gurrl! She says Ben has done a lot of shows and knows everyone in the business. He tells her that you don’t regret mistakes, but steps you don’t take. She’s always bounced back. She says she’s made a lot of mistakes, and fallen on her face a few times. We flash back to her spill into the bushes. Ben thinks they should take their time and is already thinking of people he wants to use. He asks her to just sing something off the top of her head like Happy Birthday. She sings Happy Birthday, sounding better than she has in the past. He doesn’t think the voice matters – which I agree with – but her voice is good.

Bethenny’s group goes to town with no electricity. She says Puerto Rico after dark is intense. The first time they were there, the people were in mud up to their ankles. It’s a freakin’ mess. Bethenny says it’s not a huge place, and you can make a dent going to individual people. Omar talks about roaches and rats and such coming out at night. They’re the first people from the states giving money. Bethenny says they’ve heard that a lot. None of the money advertised is getting there. Sadly, that happens all too often. Dorinda says you’d be surprised what you can do when you have to, and the people are doing it with pride and dignity.

The girls meet for dinner. Dorinda took a pass, and Bethenny wants to wait for her to be there to talk about Puerto Rico. She asks how Tinsley’s weekend was with Scott, and I don’t hear what Tinsley says, but there’s applause afterward. Maybe I don’t want to know. Sonja arrives. She tells Bethenny she went on a date with someone she’d recommended. Tinsley is confused, and asks Carole what happened to Frenchie and Rocco? Tinsley and Carole continue talking about Sonja. In her interview, Bethenny says Sonja doesn’t seem to belong, no matter what she does. She feels sorry for her. Clearly, Tinsley and Carole aren’t into Sonja. Bethenny points out that once Tinsley got a boyfriend, who she met through Carole, she blew Sonja off. Bethenny has compassion for Sonja, and interrupts Tinsley’s conversation, saying it seemed like she was at the bottom when she came back to the city. Tinsley wonders where this is coming from. In her interview, Tinsley says Bethenny is picking on her regarding things she knows nothing about. She tells Bethenny that Sonja lied about her having no friends. In her interview, Carole doesn’t know what’s going on. She says Bethenny is spinning Sonja’s story because she’s not doing a good enough job herself. Bethenny says Carole always defends whoever she’s sitting next to. Carole says she’s a ride or die chick, and Bethenny is loud. She tells Bethenny to get off her jock. Bethenny says she loves Carole, but she chimes into whatever another person thinks. In her interview, Bethenny says Carole doesn’t have her own voice. LuAnn thinks this is sad. She doesn’t think the issue between Bethenny and Carole is about Sonja and Tinsley.

Carole goes to the Cosmopolitan magazine office. Editor Michele is a new friend, and she’s going to write something for them. Carole hasn’t written in years, and thinks it’s the perfect opportunity to get back into it. Michele is thinking something like an “on my mind” column, that runs a page. Carole says what’s on her mind is sexual harassment. She thinks it’s a good time to write about self-esteem, and how you need to affirm it every day. Michele asks how Carole is with deadlines. She’s on to how writers put things off.

Bethenny meets Dorinda for lunch. Dorinda says it’s weird, seeing Bethenny in this environment again. Bethenny says, it’s so clean. Dorinda says it readjusted her mindset. Now, she’s quiet in the morning, and thinking more positively. She asks about the dinner, and Bethenny says she was better off not going. There was too much yelling. Tinsley was going on about Scott. Bethenny thinks Sonja gave Tinsley a leg up, and now Sonja could use one. She says Carole was fighting Tinsley’s battle, and she’s noticed it’s a pattern. Carole jumps on everyone else’s argument. She tells Dorinda that she approached Adam about doing some photography work for the charity, and he asked what the comp was – no one else has ever done that; everyone works for nothing. When she told him there wasn’t any, he said he couldn’t afford to lose a week’s work, and it rubbed her the wrong way. She thinks he’s a bit of an operator. When she said something to Carole, Carole made excuses for him, and said everyone is an operator. Dorinda says, it’s a charity. She asks if Bethenny and Carole’s relationship has changed, and Bethenny says she’s been knee-deep in Puerto Rico, They were on totally different pages In her interview, Bethenny thinks Carole has more in common with Tinsley; she’s not married, has no kids, and no career. Dorinda wonders if they’re at odds, and Bethenny says Carole knows it’s a little off.

Sonja wants her place rented so she can move on with her plan. She invites LuAnn and Ramona over for a painting party. LuAnn is glad she’s finally doing something. Sonja shows them how the clutter is gone. Almost. She has suits for them to paint in, and says they’re going to touch up the chairs in the garden. She takes them out on the patio, and mixes the paint. They discuss Carole and Bethenny. LuAnn thinks Tinsley could be more grateful, and could have left if she wasn’t happy. Sonja says she left when Scott came into the picture. In her interview, Sonja says it’s awkward, but she’s a big girl. She tells them to paint over the bird crap. No. Just no.

Duff is a close friend of Carole’s, and has just written a book about chronic pain. She’s having a book party in what looks like a nice apartment. There’s a vodka fountain, and everything is decorated for Christmas. LuAnn and Ramona arrive first. Ramona tells Carole she feels that Carole has a voice now, and she loves it. She can’t believe Bethenny called her a puppet. Carole doesn’t believe Bethenny would say that. Ramona says maybe it’s more what she thinks than what was actually said. In her interview, Ramona says Carole is in denial. She might not have repeated the right words, but it was derogatory.

The second she gets through the door, Carole immediately asks Bethenny if she said Carole was a puppet. Bethenny says she wouldn’t use that word. They agree Ramona is nuts. In her interview, Bethenny says she implied others pulled Carole’s strings, but didn’t use word puppet. Tinsley, Sonja, and Dorinda join the party. Bethenny asks why Ramona told Carole she’d called her a puppet. Ramona says that was her interpretation, and Bethenny asks if she’s doing interpretations now. In her interview, Bethenny says Ramona thrives on other people being in discord, so she can swoop in to back underdog.

Dorinda tells everyone that she’s having a murder mystery dinner in the Berkshires. The time period is the 1920s, and they’ll all have characters. She passes out envelopes, and they all read their character names and descriptions. LuAnn says she wouldn’t be surprised at a murder in the Berkshires.

Tinsley wants to talk privately with Sonja. She’s heard Sonja has been saying things about her, and she wants to move forward. If Sonja ever felt she wasn’t grateful, she was and always will be. He tells Sonja if she has an issue with her, tell her, not everyone else. They agree to find time for each other. In her interview, Tinsley says she doesn’t want to get into a back-and-forth with Sonja, and get on a ride she can’t get off. Dorinda says she saw Tom wandering around with some tramp. He’s having a New Year’s Eve party on the same boat the engagement party was held on. We flash back to Dorinda’s tipsy toast. Carole joins them, and asks if Tom got a deal. In her interview, Dorinda says she let him know what a d-bag he is. LuAnn is glad she wasn’t there.

Carole thanks everyone for coming. She’s happy to share Duff with them tonight, and says Duff is the most amazing girl she’s met in New York. Someone spills wine all over the books. Not Dorinda.

Next time, the Berkshires weekend, Carole thinks there’s a disconnect with Bethenny, and Carole and Bethenny clash.

🌟 On Star, Cassie hired Derek for something, but I have the feeling it’s not what he thinks. Ayanna told the crew that tonight was a game changer; they were putting every resource behind Noah. Noah promised not to let everyone down. Jahil went to the trailer, and said he was tearing up Angel’s contract with Andy, but Angel was more concerned with being deported. Angel said if Jahil wanted to help him, stay out of his business. Ayanna appreciated Carlotta’s help, and Carlotta said she could show it by helping Take 3. Alex wanted to be able to do projects outside of Take 3. Simone was tired of the drama, and quit. Star accused her of overreacting. Carlotta told them tp do what they wanted, and went to the hospital. Jaden was now on the list for a kidney.

Maurice encouraged Star to go solo too, or watch Alex make her way to the top. Jahil told Andy that Cassie was no one to play with, and as they were talking, there was a drive by. Jahil got shot, but said it was just a graze. Carlotta dressed his wound, and asked who’s trying to kill him? He asked if it mattered, and came on to her, saying she’s his heart, and no one matches what they have. They got busy.

Simone told Angel that music was Star’s dream, not hers, and they decided to run away. Maurice told Star to take her anger to the booth, which she did, and told him to drop the track. Carlotta and Jahil danced, and Jahil started bleeding. Apparently, he had a heart condition only Carlotta knew about, and it created a situation where they couldn’t stop the bleeding. Simone asked if Star didn’t want something more than music, but Star didn’t know what that was. Carlotta asked Cotton to pray with her, and Cotton said, it had been so long, God didn’t want to hear from her. Aww. Miss Lawrence told Carlotta that Mexicans are resilient, and Jahil would be fine.

Carlotta was finally able to see Jahil, who told her that it had always been her, and he loved her. Then he flatlined and died. I was not expecting that. There you go, Benjamin Bratt. The good news was, that his kidney perfect match for Jared. I wondered why they hadn’t known this before, or if Jahil only had one kidney. in which case, he wouldn’t be needing it anymore. Carlotta told Cotton that Jahil’s heart couldn’t withstand him bleeding out. He’d said he wouldn’t let Jaden die, and he kept his word. Carlotta kissed Jahil one last time, and said goodbye. This whole thing was super sad.

Derek told Alex it didn’t have to be awkward every time they saw one another; life is too short. He was proud of her, and said if she needed anything, he was there. Ayanna stared at a pregnancy test in the limo. I wasn’t sure what the news was there, but she wasn’t happy. She called Noah, and told him that his life had finally turned around; he was getting his own tour. The call came just after Noah got pulled over. He was driving drunk, but Alex got behind the wheel before the cop got to the car.

At the funeral, Cassie approached Andy outside the church. She wanted her money or it would be his ass in the box next. She kissed him on the cheek while handing him a bullet. Wow. Brandi. Who’d have thought it? Everyone was all, I can’t believe he’s gone, and I was like, me neither. Star left a message for Maurice to forget about the track, so right away he called to drop it like it’s hot. As the pallbearers were taking the casket to the hearse, ICE came. Angel was one of the pallbearers, but they wouldn’t let him finish the task, dragging him out and cuffing him. When they were driving up, I thought it was the same guy who shot Jahil, there to finish the job. I wondered if that’s what the characters thought too. I have to add that the flower blanket on the casket was incredible, and quite colorful.

On the hair front, Queen Latifah spent most of the show in above-the-shoulder beachy waves with several colors of highlights, but for the funeral, she had long, dark curls with golden highlights, looking tragically romantic. Star won the hair-do wars though, in Rapunzel-like braids.

Next time, the finale – Star confronts Maurice, Noah is arrested, and Cassie and Carlotta draw guns on each other. That ought to be interesting.

🍷 I watched more of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Secrets Revealed, and I just loved the Lisa and Ken segment. They were about to celebrate their 35th anniversary, and Lisa asked what if they just pretended to go away? Ken suggested they hire a chef and stay home. Lisa says there was no place she liked as much as Villa Rosa, and it reminded me of how much the Edies loved Grey Gardens. They agreed they wouldn’t marry each other today, which made me kind of sad, but as a whole, it seemed like their life is a fairytale. There was lots of Giggy, and more sadness over Pink Dog and Pikachu, who passed within a week of one another. Giggy also has a heart condition now, and Ken is talking about cloning him. I would. As always, Lisa was self-depreciating, but so beautiful. I really want them to adopt me. I wouldn’t take up that much space. There was also a nice segment where LisaR and Erika visited Camille at her beach house in Malibu, and had lunch on one of the decks. It was one of those pleasant meals you don’t get in the regular episodes. Another funny thing was when Teddi called her dad. John Mellencamp, asking if he remembered when she got a tattoo in eighth grade. He did, and he’s still mad.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Chase goes into the interrogation room. Carly is there, and he gives her coffee and her prescription bottle. Sonny wants a straight answer from Diane, but she says bail hearings aren’t always quick. Carly was arrested after the courts were closed. He asks what the charges are, and Dante says it depends on if Nelle and the baby survive.

Nelle wakes up and yells, no, Carly! Michael tells her she’s okay; she’s in the hospital. She grabs him, saying she was scared. he says it was just a dream.

Griff watches Ava rehearse for the Nurses’ Ball. Lucy tells him not to leak anything he sees. He tells Ava that she blew his mind, and Lucy is like, mind? Okay. Ava says she’s nervous, but Griff says she’ll be great. He’ll be the guy in back cheering and saying that’s his girlfriend. She says, please, no airhorns. He asks if this will do, and gives her a bouquet of roses.

Peter texts Valentin, are you sure A.D. under control? Valentin wonders wonder what’s going on with him.

Peter and Anna sit separately at the MetroCourt. Peter reads Valentin’s reply, situation under control. He thinks he’d better make sure. Anna writes, Henrik? Please respond. Peter approaches her table, and asks if it’s top secret. She’s a real live spy, and the impulse is to think anything she’s doing is a covert operation. She asks what business it is of his.

Andre meets Drew. Drew asks if he wants to make amends, and Andre says, if it’s possible. Drew wants Andre to make it possible.

Lucy tells Alexis to coordinate with her presenter. Finn says, hi.

Andre tells Drew if he knows of a way he can help, he’s all in. Drew says, make me, me again. Andre says they’ve discussed it before, and without the data, there’s nothing he can do. Even if he gets his hands on it, there’s no precedent. There’s no guarantee it would work twice. The human mind isn’t meant to withstand memory writing and rewriting.

Peter says Anna hasn’t forgiven him for refusing to plant a false story. He asks how she does it. Which ideals is she willing to sacrifice? What rules is she willing to break? She asks if he’s interviewing her, and has a hidden recorder. He says it came to his attention that Robert might have leaked something to Nina’s husband about Henrik. She and Maxie are his star employees, and their safety is paramount. Anna says she has a word of advice. Valentin has a jealous streak, and he should leave Nina to him. Maxie is her goddaughter, and she’d sooner die than let anything happen to her.

Griff tells Ava his flowers may be premature, but she’ll be inundated later, and he wanted his to be first. She tells him to keep his expectations nice and low. He says he believes in her, and she says it must be torture not waking up next to her. He says the hotel will do for now, but it’s definitely not home. She hopes he finds home soon. He asks if she wants to go to breakfast while Lucy is terrorizing someone else, but she’s late for an appointment. She says she’ll see him tonight. He says he can’t wait, and they kiss.

Sonny goes into the interrogation room, and Carly asks where Michael is. Sonny says he’s at the hospital. Diane asks for privacy, so Dante and Chase leave, but Jason stays. She asks, what happened? Nelle said Carly pushed her. Carly says Nelle is lying. The whole thing was a set-up.

Nelle tells Michael the nightmare felt real; did she say anything? Michael says, no, but she was upset. She says she felt like she was falling and had no control; there was nothing to grab on to. She put her hand over her belly to protect the baby. She starts to cry. Kim comes in, and asks how she’s feeling. Nelle takes Michael’s hand, and asks if the baby is going to be okay. Michael makes a worried face to rival Griff’s.

Alexis asks how Lucy roped Finn in. Finn says Lucy dropped Alexis’s name, telling him she’s getting the Port Charles Pioneer award. Lucy walks by with a camel. A live camel. Finn says Alexis is receiving the award for fighting social injustice, and she says she’s done a few pro bono cases. He says more than a few. She’s glad it’s giving her an excuse not to perform. She’ll just graciously collect her plaque, and everyone will clap, but he has to give them a reason why. He says if his introduction is underwhelming, he’ll make up for it on the dance floor – as long as her date doesn’t mind. She says she doesn’t have one. He says, in that case, does she want to go with him?

Still leading the camel, Lucy sees Valentin, and says they have time to run through his number. He says he’s good to go. Lucy says since everyone loved him last year, she’s inclined to believe it, but the stage manager might need to rehearse. He says he’ll see her tonight.

Peter tells Anna that he’s been trying to reach Robert to no avail; perhaps she could put them in touch.  Anna says if Robert isn’t available, it’s for a reason, but she’ll relay the message. He says it’s most appreciated. Peter leaves, and Griff comes in. Anna hugs him, and he says he didn’t know she was back. She says she’s been underwater. He says she has to come up for air some time, and asks if she’s still looking for Henrik.

At the station, Chase tells Dante the statements are consistent that Carly was the aggressor. She got in an argument with Ava about a gift, Nelle explained how the gift was chosen, and Carly claimed it was just to torment her. Carly also said the blanket was a replica of one Morgan had. The problem is, no blanket was located, and no one can attest it exists. Dante says no one knows what really happened except Nelle and Carly. He’s going to find answers.

Kim tells Nelle and Michael that the baby’s heartbeat is as strong as ever. There are no injuries to the baby; it’s just fine. Michael hugs Nelle. Ava sees, and she and Nelle lock eyes.

Diane asks Carly what she means by a set-up. Is she suggesting Nelle threw herself down the stairs? Carly says the fall was an accident, but everything leading up to it was deliberate. She saw the penguin mobile, and when she saw the blanket like her mom made for Morgan as a baby, she wanted to show it to Michael. Diane says no blanket was recovered. Is it possible she imagined it? Carly says, absolutely not. Jason looks at her.

Griff asks Anna if catching Henrik is worth what she’s putting herself through? She doesn’t know, but she’s getting closer. He says there are risks, and she says, acceptable risks. If she has the chance to alert him about Huntington’s disease, shouldn’t she. Wouldn’t he do that? He supposes he would. She asks if he wants breakfast, but a patient needs his attention. They can catch up at the Ball. He tells Anna that he loves her, and kisses her cheek.

Griff walks into Peter’s office, since there’s a bullet elevator that shoots him right there. He tells Peter that he needs to get out of Port Charles while he still can.

Drew tells Andre that he’s not letting Jason’s past rule his life. Andre says the best and safest way to deal with it is to accept it and keep moving. He has no way to restore Drew’s memories without the flash drive. Drew tells him to get Jason out of his head. Remove Jason’s memories, and he’ll deal with the rest.

Carly says she never even touched Nelle. She grabbed the blanket, and when Nelle grabbed it back, she fell. Sonny asks if the blanket is like the scarf, and Diane asks, what scarf? Jason explains how Carly found it on her desk, and Diane asks if he saw it. He says Nelle came back and took it. She worked for Carly, and knew the layout and how to avoid the cameras. Carly says Nelle set her up. Sonny says even if Nelle is responsible for the scarf, she couldn’t have taken the blanket. She was unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. Jason says someone else took it. They just need to figure out who.

Michael thanks Kim. Kim says she’d like to keep Nelle for another 24-hours to monitor her. Michael thought Nelle was fine, but Kim says it’s just a precaution. She leaves to order Nelle a room, and Michael asks if Nelle is okay. She says, yes, now that she knows the baby is okay. She asks him to get her some orange juice.

Dante asks Kim how the patient is doing. She says bruised, but okay, and the baby is healthy. There’s no indication of injury or distress.

Ava goes in to see Nelle. She says Nelle is looking hale and hardy after what she’s endured. She asks how the baby is doing, and Nelle says, well; no thanks to Carly. Ava says it was quite a shower. Nelle says it’s a blur, except for Carly pushing her; that’s crystal clear. It was terrifying how Carly came after her. Ava remarks that Nelle’s use of the blanket was calculating, but this couldn’t have been part of her original plan. Carly is up for two counts of attempted murder, and Michael has been there all night. All because of a blanket. She says, guess who has it now? and takes it out of her bag. That was slick. Ava must move pretty fast.

Jason says they need to go over who was at the Quartermaine’s. Diane asks to speak to Sonny privately, and Carly asks about what? Diane says they can go over the arraignment, while Carly talks to Jason. Carly says Diane doesn’t believe there was a blanket, but Diane says it doesn’t matter what she believes. What matters is what she can sell to a court of law.

Diane asks what Sonny thinks. Sonny thinks Carly is going through a breakdown; it’s been happening for months. She’s seen signs from Morgan that he’s not dead, and he thinks it’s her grief causing it. Diane says Jason believes her, and Sonny says if Carly wanted to jump off a cliff, saying she could fly, Jason would let her. Diane says it might come to that. If they can’t produce the blanket, Carly could talk herself into a conviction for attempted murder.

Carly tells Jason that they don’t believe her, but he does. He says it makes sense. Nelle knew where Morgan died. She did either made the calls or paid someone, and she carried out the rest. Carly says Nelle is crazy, but the hardest part is, her baby isn’t coming back. Jason hugs her.

At the hospital. Michael tells Dante the baby is okay. Dante asks if Nelle is conscious and lucid; he needs to talk to her. Michael says she’s still shaken up, but Dante needs a statement while it’s still fresh.

Ava says, lovely work. Nelle should consider opening an Etsy shop. She found it right where Carly said it dropped, and snuck it out while everyone was worried about Nelle. She says Diane is a great attorney, and would have a field day with it. Nelle tells her to wait, but Ava says, on second thought, she’ll hold on to it for safekeeping. She wouldn’t want Nelle to have to replace it. Nelle tells Ava to please give it to her, but Ava says she has enough to keep track of – like the photo of Griff’s DNA test. Dante and Michael come in, and just as fast as Ava snatched it in the first place. the blanket is back in her bag. Dante asks if Nelle thinks she’s up for questions. He’d like to clarify what happened before she fell.

Finn rehearses his introduction, and Alexis follows with her acceptance. Lucy says, hold everything, and tells herself, serenity now. She asks if this is how Alexis is making an entrance, and Alexis asks if she doesn’t like walking. Lucy says it’s boring, and Alexis suggests a triple axel. Lucy tells her she’s receiving an award on a magnificent stage, not looking for toilet paper in the grocery store. She should do some sashaying. Lucy demonstrates, and knocks Alexis’s papers all over. Finn picks them up, and sees Anna’s will.

On the phone, Anna says she’s trying to get in touch with Robert, and to make sure he gets the message.

Griff tells Peter that Anna is working with Jason. Peter thinks he has no reason to worry, unless Griff tells them. Griff says he needs to leave or come clean, or he might find himself at someone else’s mercy sooner than he thinks.

Valentin sees Griff leave Peter’s office. He asks Peter what the deal is, and Peter says Griff is trying to save his soul. Valentin doesn’t buy it, saying he’s way too close to Anna. Peter asks if Valentin is absolutely sure, and Valentin says he is, unless Griff told him otherwise. He asks what connection Peter has to Griff, and Peter says Griff knows who he really is. Valentin calls him an idiot, asking if he knows what he’s done. He’s screwed them both.

Nelle tells Dante everything was fine at first, then things got tense. Ava gave her a gift from her registry, a mobile with penguins. Nelle explains that newborns see better in black and white. She had no idea it would remind Carly of Morgan, but Carly thought it was deliberate, and said awful things. She got away to the nursery. Ava says Carly chased her off in tatters. Dante asks what happened when Carly found her, and Nelle says more of the same. Carly told her everyone was better off without her. She didn’t want to get the baby stressed, so she tried to get away. Carly caught her at the top of the stairs. She asks if they can finish later, but Dante says they’re almost done. Nelle continues, telling him that Carly grabbed her by the arms and shook her, screaming that she didn’t want Nelle to get her hands on her son, meaning Michael, and pushed her. Dante thanks her for her cooperation, and says, one more question. Carly mentioned a blanket was involved in the struggle at the top of the stairs. Nelle doesn’t know what she’s talking about; there was no blanket. Dante asks if she’s sure, and Ava tells him, if Nelle says there’s no blanket, there’s no blanket.

Jason tells Carly it’s going to be okay. They know it’s Nelle; they just have to prove it. Carly says Sonny is right. There’s no way Nelle could have gotten the blanket. Jason suggests maybe someone has it, and has no idea what they have. He says the blanket is real, the scarf is real, and so were the break-ins. Nelle left a trail somewhere. There has to be proof, and he’ll find it. Carly says Sonny thinks she’s going crazy. Jason says he sees her pain, and he’s grieving too. Carly asks if Jason can talk to him. He says he’ll try, but Sonny doesn’t trust his judgement when comes to her. Carly says, because he believes in her. He says he always will, and promises it will be okay (the word of the day).

Valentin asks Peter why he confided in Griff. Peter says he didn’t. He went to Griff for a Huntington’s disease test, and when Griff found out Faison was a carrier, he ran a DNA test without his permission.  He played on Griff’s sympathies for Maxie’s sake, promising to be a model, law-abiding citizen. He kept his end of the bargain. Valentin says he doesn’t realize how close Griff and Anna are. There’s no way he’s not going to tell her. Anna will be crushed when she realizes that Valentin knew all along. Peter suggests Valentin get rid of Anna like he did Robert.

Andre says Drew is asking him to erase everything he is, but Drew says just Jason’s memories. Andre says there’s no guarantee he’ll survive a second procedure intact. He doesn’t know if Drew’s memories are gone or just not accessible; it’s not that easy. Drew says if there’s a remote chance it will work, he has to do it.

Jason tells Sonny that Carly is okay. Sonny says she’s sick, but he loves her. He thinks she’s unraveling, and it’s best to take a step back. He doesn’t want this getting worse. Diane tells them that there’s not going to be an arraignment until tomorrow. The judge wants to give the police more time to investigate.

Nelle thinks she and Michael should talk about it, but Michael says, later; she needs rest. She says, fair enough, and tells him to try and have fun at the Nurses’ Ball. He says he’s not going. He’s staying with her, and he refuses to change his mind. Kim comes in, and tells Nelle she’ll be more comfortable in a regular room. She’ll be going to the Ball, but can be contacted if Nelle needs anything. Nelle says her favorite things are right there.

Chase tells Dante that the statements from the staff don’t contradict anything they’ve heard so far. Dante says, Nelle claims the same thing. Chase asks what’s their next move?

Diane tells Carly that there’s no arraignment until tomorrow, and Carly say she can make it one night. Dante says the baby is fine, and so is Nelle. Carly says, thank God, and Dante says it’s time for everyone to leave.

Ava says it’s a shame Nelle will miss her debut, but she has a good excuse. Nelle suggests having Griff record it. Ava tells her to stay warm. Hospital rooms can be cold; she should ask for an extra blanket. She leaves, and Nelle says she knows Michael doesn’t want to talk about it, but what does he think will happen to his mom?

Chase cuffs Carly, saying it’s standard procedure on counts of attempted murder. Diane doesn’t disagree, but says if the court best not infringe one iota on her client’s civil rights. Carly tells Sonny to get home. Josslyn is going to the Ball with Oscar, and he needs to coordinate with Kim. She ask him to tell Michael that she loves him and the baby. Chase leads her out.

Finn looks at the will for a moment, and gathers everything up. He asks Alexis what it’s going to be, a saunter or sashay? She thinks she’ll be safe with a stroll. He says he’s going with shimmying.

Anna gets an email from Henrik, accepting her invitation, and asking for a time and place. He says they have a lot of catching up to do.

Drew asks Peter if he’s seen Sam, and Peter says, not recently. Drew asks him to tell her that he’s looking for her. Peter asks if everything is okay, and Drew says he thinks he found a way to get back everything he lost.

On the phone, Valentin orders plane tickets for two adults and a child – one way. They’re not coming back.

Tomorrow, the Nurses’ Ball. Carla Hall from The Chew makes an appearance.

Below Deck Mediterranean

Adam is back? Why?

We start off docked in Naples. Hannah has also returned. Captain Sandy says they’re going to smash this season out of the park. Let’s hope they don’t smash the boat like those guys did last season on Below Deck the original. Chef Adam spent his off-time cooking in the woods, and has never felt like more of a chef. The captain tells us they have the potential to be great, which is why they’re back, but there’s no second chance after this second chance.

Bosun Conrad comes on board next. Followed by Kasey, the third stew. Lead deckhand Joao is next. He’s from Zimbabwe, and oddly enough, that’s where Hannah’s parents are from. Yachting was his only way out. Adam is jealous of Conrad’s name because it has rad in it. Sigh. Where is Chef Ben when I need him? Second stew Brooke arrives. It’s a small yachting world, as she’s worked with Hannah’s best friend. Hannah is hoping to be able to wake up without daggers in her back this season. Deckhands Jamie and Colin round out the crew.

Captain Sandy goes over the rules. She tells them not to be her first thought in the morning, or it means it will be their last day on the boat.

Adam says the stews are super cute, but so is having a job. Jamie says most people assume she’s a stew because she’s female. The crew gets the boat ready for the first guests. Conrad goes over things with the deckhands, telling them he praises in public, but gives critiques in private. Joao makes sure the deckhands know that he defers to Conrad if there’s a conflict of information. Everyone is shocked that Conrad is only twenty-three. He hates when people continually point out his age Hannah goes over the schedule with the stews. Her job is to make the boat run smoothly, and she tells them not to take it personally if she’s short with them. Brooke says she started dating an old friend, and it’s her first time away from him. Kasey says that she did pageants, but also has a psychology degree. That’s good. She’ll need it.

The captain calls Conrad, Adam, and Hannah to the bridge to go over the preference sheets. Nichelle is the primary, and owns a sports management firm. The guests are looking to surf and use the water toys. Captain Sandy says they’ll pick the guests up in Capri. She wants them wowed by the food and the service, and says they’re going to make it happen.

Kasey is puzzled by the ironing board. She lives at home, and it’s her first time doing laundry. She wants to prove that she’s more than the princess everyone thinks she is – even though she is. The crew changes into their whites.

Why don’t these guests look like they’re sports minded? I’m not a person who puts a lot of stock in appearances, but they look like rumpled messes. I hope the primary isn’t intending to hand out business cards. The introductions are made, and Captain Sandy says they’re going to smash it out of the park, because she’s stuck on baseball references. Hannah gives the tour. Jamie wonders if the guests have bricks in their luggage. Ha-ha! My father used to say that about my purse. Captain Sandy says if you’re a captain, and claim not to be nervous taking out a new boat with a new crew, you’re full of sh*t. Hannah makes cocktails, and One of the guests is fixated on getting some nuts to go with that. She keeps asking where her nuts are, and it’s killing all of us not to make jokes. Conrad can see Joao wants to be bosun, but he’s not yet.

Kasey gets seasick, and Hannah is now down a stew on the first day. Kasey explains the boat she’d previously been on, never left the dock. Geez, she might have explored her reaction to being on a moving boat before taking the job. The guest gripes about the nuts again, because it’s been a whole twenty-three minutes. In her interview, Hannah says, you’re not succumbing, bitch, so calm down. Seriously, she’s asked where they are like, once a minute. Even after the nuts come, there are complaints.

They drop anchor, and it’s lunchtime. Adam says it’s a new boat, a new crew, and a new him. The entrée is a coconut shrimp dish that looks amazing, but I’m not crazy about coconut being in anything except a dessert. The ladies tell Hannah that they want to meet the guests on another boat narby, so they can flirt, and Nichelle calls Hannah sweetheart, which I’m sure thrills her. The tender is loaded with champagne, and the guests depart. I’m hoping the other boat is filled with gay men. The other captain isn’t cool with them visiting, so they go back. One of the guests (henceforth known as Idiot) wants to “help” Colin dock, and Colin tries to be polite in telling her she can’t touch the equipment. In his interview, he tells us that if he had an artist draw a picture of the worst person in the world, it would be her.

As usual, the dinner table is beautiful, royal blue and golden yellow, with tiny lights and shiny objects. Adam makes Italian food. Idiot makes a face at the salad. Kasey doesn’t want to let everyone down, but wants to barf every single second. Mmm… pasta… Mmm… asparagus… Idiot says her dog eats food like this, and it’s unacceptable. Nichelle says it’s not a dinner presentation, and she doesn’t eat out of a bowl. This is killing me. Okay, I have to. She should eat out of bowl – on the floor. They demand to see Adam, and he’s met at the door by Idiot, who says she hates the food and wants to open the wine. She toddles off to Brooke and asks her to open it. Methinks she’s had enough already, as she doesn’t seem steady and keeps playing with her hair like a teenager. Nichelle says it’s more like a lunch service, and she’s shocked with the presentation. She tells Adam to never bring another dinner in a bowl. Idiot says it looks like slop, and they complain about not wanting starch. I’m going to have to say this too. It sure doesn’t look like they don’t eat starch. Idiot demands a grilled cheese with truffles. In his interview, Adam says the dish he made is traditionally served in a bowl, so give him a little respect. Non-traditionally, I agree with him.

Hannah asks what else they’d like, and they say spaghetti. In her interview, she says they remind her of The Three Bears. Nichelle says they’re on the boat for vacation, not to complain. So why are they complaining so much? Kasey tries to eat some bread. Hannah tells Adam the guests want pasta now, and he’s like, wtf? Omg, these people are the worst. The really sad part is, when they see themselves, they’ll probably think they were on point. Adam makes an awesome tuna tartare that I’m sure they’ll hate. He’d hoped to start off with a bang, but got bitching and complaining, and can’t be more sad.

Kasey is still upchucking at breakfast. Mmm… breakfast. In her interview, Kasey says she’s so sick, she physically can’t do the job. Hannah says if she can’t, they’ll have to get someone who can. Hannah asks the guests if they slept well. No surprise, they say, not at all. Nichelle wants a chat with the captain. She says everything is wrong, and it’s taking away from them having good time. They’re used to luxury vacations, and she wants to communicate her concerns.

Nichelle lumbers up to the bridge. She tells Captain Sandy that she’s not having a good time. Outside, thunder starts to rumble.

This season, disappointment over a beach picnic; lots of drinking; Kasey kisses Conrad; Brooke dances with Adam; Captain Sandy says service is sucking, she doesn’t want to babysit Conrad, and she’s ready to fire both Kasey and Conrad. It looks like rough seas ahead, both literally and figuratively.

The Haves and the Have Nots

Candace tries to wake Oscar. She dumps a bucket of water on him, but nothing. Just foam coming out of his mouth. She calls the bar and says there’s a situation. New bartender says he’ll be right back, and heads up to her room.

Candace says she gave him the usual cocktail Rocky gave her. She thinks it was rum. She asks if he knows what to do or not, and he says he does. He moves Oscar and Oscar spits up. The bartender takes a shot of adrenaline out of a kit, and it does the trick. He says she should be glad he was there, and Candace tells him get his arrogant ass out. Oscar heaves, and she tells him not to ruin things for her. He asks what she did. She asks him where they’re at and he gets it on the second try. He asks what the hell she gave him. She tells him to relax and she wants her money. He says drugging him isn’t the way to get it. She tells him get the hell out, and grabs up his clothing and bag. She tells him be glad he’s still breathing, and throws his stuff into the hallway. She slams the door behind him. He yells that she’ll regret this. She calls for someone to clean up.

Gia texts Candace saying Jim is there. Candace replies, telling her to make him the right drink and stay the night with him. Downstairs, Gia and Jim order drinks. He asks why she dragged him out of bed; what is she up to? She was hoping he was up to something, but he says he doesn’t have all night. She suggests they go to the room, and tells the bartender to send the drinks up. Candace calls down and grills the bartender. She shows up while he’s still talking to her, telling him not to roll his eyes and just do his job. He thanks her for the job. He says Rocky told him she once had a stable, and is starting again. She says she can trust Rocky, but doesn’t know if she can trust him. She says she’s nice, but coldblooded, and if he messes this up for her, she’ll gut him. He apologizes for being arrogant, and starts talking about a cop pulling him over and trying to feel him up. Candace says he talks too much, but asks what the cop’s name was. He doesn’t know. She describes Justin, and he asks if she knows him. She says she’ll keep the information in her back pocket.

In his room, Oscar gets only a blank screen on his laptop. He’s pissed. He calls the desk, and says he needs a new laptop. He can’t use an open computer. The concierge says the computer store doesn’t open until 9 am, and Oscar hangs up. He calls back for a car to take him in the morning. He swears he’ll kill Candace if she messed this up.

Rocky and the concierge talk.  The concierge says he has it figured out. Rocky says Candace has something to figure out too. She had him get Oscar’s passwords. He tells the concierge about Oscar stealing accounts, and the concierge tells him that Oscar just called about needing a new computer. Rocky asks if she did it, but he doesn’t know. Rocky says she’s up to something, and hopes she cuts him in on the deal. He got the numbers for her. The concierge tells him not to hold his breath. Rocky wants to find out what’s going on, and when he leaves, the concierge texts Kathryn.

Melissa sits in Hanna’s kitchen. Hanna asks if she’s seen Benny, but she hasn’t. Hanna asks if she slept okay, but she says she didn’t sleep. She thanks Hanna for letting her stay there. She’s sorry about last night; she was out of her head. Hanna says the woman she’s dealing with is out of her head every day and night. Melissa asks for coffee. Hanna says it’s not good for the baby, but Melissa says she doesn’t care. She says the baby isn’t wanted. She forced herself on Veronica’s gay, drunk son. She starts crying, and Hanna says she’s sorry. Hanna doesn’t know about an unwanted baby, but knows about an unwanted pregnancy. She tells Melissa when her baby was born, she was in love, and prays the same thing happens to her. Melissa says Hanna sounds like her mother. Hanna tells her that bad things sometimes just happen, but she has to keep the faith. She’s sorry Melissa is going through this, and Melissa says, not as sorry as she is. Hanna says, like it or not, she’s going to look out for her. She has to go to work, but Benny is there. She promises things will get better.

Erica tells David she made breakfast, but he doesn’t have time. He tells her it’s best if she stays there. He understands if she’s stir crazy, but this weekend they’ll get away. How about springing for a TV? Erika says she’s starting to think he likes her, and almost says I love you. She gets all, duuuh, and he says he understands. He tells her that he feels the same, but it scares him. She tells him to go handle his son, and they’ll talk about this stuff later.

Hanna arrives at Kathryn’s. Kathryn is glad to see her, and glad she’s coming back to work. Hanna thanks her, and says she doesn’t know where to start. Kathryn is concerned about Wyatt, and asks about Benny. Hanna says the police haven’t made a move, so she’s sitting tight. Kathryn knows what that’s like. She says Jim is back. Hanna isn’t asking about her love life, and Kathryn says it’s just a lie. She wants to know about Hanna’s date. Hanna says it was great, and tells her about seeing Stephanie Mills. She forgot what it was like to laugh. Kathryn understands, and asks if she’s going to see Derek again. Hanna says if he calls, and Kathryn says he will. He said he had a great time. Kathryn wishes she had a man, and Hanna says she’s married. Kathryn says, whatever, and asks Hanna to show her how to work the microwave.

When they get to the kitchen, Kathryn says, look who’s here, and jets. Derek tells Hanna it’s not his fault; Kathryn pretended the stove was broken. He moves in for a kiss, but Hanna asks what he’s doing. He says he was feeling it, and she says he’s sure of himself. He says he’s sure he likes her, and Hanna says, they just met, and she has work to do. Then she relents, but says they’re not doing this every day. He kisses her forehead. These two are too cute together.

Veronica tracks Melissa on the computer. She calls Benny. He debates, then picks up. He asks what’s up. She says Melissa is at his house; she knows these things. She says they’re all alike. They want to throw away a good woman who’s been good to them, for the next young thing. He came in her house, and disrespected her. Does he think she’s not getting back at him? Melissa is going to marry her son. Benny says her son is gay, and Veronica tells Benny not to talk to her about him. Benny says he knows he doesn’t want her, and she says, that is clear. She tells Benny that she will get back at him, and take care of him real good. She hangs up.

Melissa knocks on Benny’s door. She’s sorry about everything. He asks if she talked to her mother. She has to figure out somewhere to stay. She tells him that his mother said could stay there. Benny says he didn’t know she was pregnant, and thinks she should figure out what to do and where to go. She says she needs a day or two, and tells him that he can sleep with her. He says she’s not a whore, and he’s not going to sleep with her in exchange for a bed and shower. Melissa tells him that she didn’t say that, but his mother said she can stay, and it’s his mommy’s house.

Jeffrey is in the interrogation room, and Veronica walks in. Jeffrey calls for the guard. Veronica sits down, and says she can get him out; just sign the affidavit. I’m not sure how he’d do that, since his hands seems to be cuffed behind him. Jeffrey reads it, and tells her it says Benny did it – alone. She says, uh-huh, and she can make it stick. He asks if she’s serious. She says Benny buried the body and threatened him. Jeffrey says the body is inadmissible, and she says, for Candace. His testimony can put Benny away. He asks what she’s up to? He says Benny turned her down, didn’t he? He wouldn’t sleep with her. She gets it; Jeffrey wants him, but are they really going to fight over a man? He laughs, and says he turned her down; she’s too old for him. He’s not going to sign it, and Veronica says he’s protecting his man. Jeffrey tells her to stop it, but she says, he needs to stop it. He can get out. It just says he’s not the one who stabbed Quincy. They already know there are two perpetrators, and one is a male. He doesn’t even know Benny. Jeffrey says Benny was just trying to help Candace. She says Candace decided to destroy both of them. Does he want out? Then sign it, and stop whining like a little bitch. She tells him not to remind her why she locked him in there; just sign it. He says no, and she says, then he’ll stay in there, have a trial, and go to prison. It will be a year before he can get an appeal. He’ll be caged, and all because he killed a thug and refused to give up another one. He’s a damn fool. He tells her to wait. He’ll sign it. Wow.

Candace texts Gia, asking if Jim is still asleep. He is, and she tells Gia that she wants to see her. Gia throws on a robe, and goes to Candace’s room. Candace asks if he’s knocked out, and how much he was given. Gia says not enough to notice, but he’ll feel like he had a rough night. She tells Candace that he was funny, talking about his wife. Candace slaps her, saying, bitch, you like him. Gia says she doesn’t. Candace tells her that they will never respect her, and never really want her. They’ll make her feel special and wanted, but never be seen in the light of day with her. She can cry, whine, and beg, and they’ll drop her and leave her where they found her. All they are, are johns. They want the fantasy without strings. She says, learn that, whore. It’s what she is, and will always be. She tells Gia not to come in there talking about his wife It makes Candace want to slap the sh*t out of her. She tells Gia to learn quick, and Gia says she will. Candace asks how much she made, and Gia says $1500. Candace asks how she’s supposed to live on $1400? Gia says she’s sorry.

Candace gets a text saying $4 million has been deposited to her account. She tells Gia that she can have last night’s money; she’s done with this and her. She’s good. Gia begs, saying she’ll work harder, and Candace tells her get out. Gia says she’s got it, but Candace pushes her into the hallway. She calls Candace’s name, and says she’s sorry. Candace asks if she’s crazy, and says call her name one more damn time. Candace looks at her phone all happy.

Oscar gets back with a new laptop. He sees the money is still there, and breathes a sigh of relief.

Gia gets back to the room. Jim says he slept like a rock. Gia says she’s sorry. He asks for what, and she says, nothing. He asks where she went, and she says she got some breakfast. She’s crying, and Jim says the cereal must have made her sad. She tells him that she can order something if he wants. He says it’s okay, and asks her to come over to him. He puts her on his lap, and asks what is it? She cries and says she doesn’t want to do this anymore. She wishes she had a legit job; this is too stressful. Jim says he’ll make her feel better, and tells her to take her robe off. Gia says that doesn’t make her feel better. He says, okay, and gets up. She asks if he’s leaving, and he says it’s bad enough he has to put up with this bullsh*t at home, but here and he has to pay for it? He throws a bunch of money at her, and walks out. She sits on the bed and bawls.

In the hallway, Jim’s phone rings. Oscar says, it’s done. The money is wired. Because of the type of transaction, he wasn’t able to take out his fee, and asks if Jim can write a check – today. Jim says as soon as he gets home and confirms the money is in his account. Oscar asks if he could do that now, and Jim says he is, and hangs up. Will someone please tell me if we still call it hanging up? A huge downside of cell phones is you don’t get the satisfaction of slamming a receiver down if you’re pissed off.

At the Iron Bone, the dealer looks in the bathroom for Wyatt, who’s passed out in a stall. He tells Wyatt, let’s go, and kicks him. He says it’s after nine; time for his money. Wyatt stumbles out, and they go to the ATM. Wyatt puts in his card and PIN. He asks if it’s working, and the dealer says, yeah; try it again. Wyatt says, what the hell? and the dealer asks if he’s playing games. Wyatt tells him something’s wrong. The dealer pulls out a gun, and says he’s playing games.

Next time, Erika thinks she’s been made, the dealer tells Wyatt he’s dead, and Jim tells Kathryn a tart holds the key to making her case disappear.

🌴 I didn’t get a chance to see it tonight, but The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Secrets Revealed is in rotation on Bravo. I love the Secrets shows because they’re more lighthearted, and we often see clips that are better than the scenes from the actual show.

💲 On Sell It Like Serhant, Ryan helped Erick, a rental agent who works at UnDorm, an agency that focuses on first apartments for college students. Erick once had a top spot, but a rival has been trying to steal his listings and clients. New guy Collin flirts with clients, and also has the dreaded, and now outdated, man bun. Erick needed to be what he was, or he was going to be out of a job.  Ryan needed to loosen Erick up, and get him to stop taking himself so seriously. I thought Erick needed to stop saying actually so much. Ryan observed Erick in action (or not), and discovered he was pushy, but lacked energy. He was also chewing gum, which Ryan told him was rude. I’m a huge fan of gum, but even I know that. I had the misfortune of seeing myself in an audience on TV while I was chomping on a piece, and it’s decidedly unattractive. Ryan suggested Erick ask the clients questions about themselves, and engage in energetic, cool conversation. He also put Erick through more acting school exercises, like making animal noises, and sent in a ringer pretending to be a client. Erick got his game together, but his four-hour commute (two, each way) seemed to be the real stumbling block. Erick’s boss told Ryan that Erick was again his loose, happy self, but he wasn’t sure how things would go for the rest of the year. He asked Ryan what he thought about Erick’s productivity long term, and Ryan felt he should move back to the city. He said it wasn’t his normal practice to tell anyone where to live, but the commute was cramping Erick’s style. He took the liberty of hunting down Erick’s old apartment – the same one he had when he was crushing it. Erick was thrilled to be back in Manhattan, and went from getting less than one rental every three days, to getting three in one afternoon. Next time, an ex-lawyer has switched jobs to find happiness selling formal gowns, and Ryan tries on dresses.

May 13, 2018 – The Story of John & Naomi, Extra Useless Information, Talking About Fear & Mom’s Day

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Fear the Walking Dead

John opens the box with the matching pistols, and cleans and loads them. He sees a zombie wading through the creek. He puts a board over his ditch moat, and whacks it with an ax. Smart move to save bullets.

He lies in bed listening to Billy Bass, who I guess is his alarm clock. He washes up, makes the bed, and plays Scrabble with himself. He says, people, as he washes the breakfast dishes. He runs down a list of various words as he has coffee on the porch. He continues as he does chores. He says platypus, and uses it in his next Scrabble game.  As night falls, he watches DVDs.

There’s a sound outside. John says, not another one, and asks himself where they’re coming from. He finds Naomi in a canoe on the shore, barely conscious, and brings her in. She says she has to get back, and he tells her she’s safe, but injured. He looks at a gash in her side. The good news is, it’s not a bite. He tells her he’ll take care of it as best he can.

The next morning, he finds Naomi looking in the truck for his keys. He tells her they’re on the top of the visor, and she might want to avoid reverse. He says she has a pretty bad cut. She gets in the truck and closes the door. It won’t start, and he says it needs a new battery. He tells her if she wants to go, he might as well set her up with food and water. She should get some rest, and change the bandage on her wound too.

Inside, Naomi looks at her wound. She starts to stitch it up herself, and says she can’t. She asks John to do it, and gives him instructions, saying, just do it.

John makes fish stew for dinner. He tells Naomi, the French call it bouillabaisse, presenting her with a bowl, saying, soup is the blanket of food. He tells her to enjoy, and introduces himself. She thanks him. He says she looks like a Laura, and asks if it’s an acceptable substitute. He tells her about a job he once had, teaching kids at a pea shooting range, and says she can stay as long as she likes. She says she’ll be moving on, and he offers her food and shelter until she’s ready, but the next time she wants something, ask. He wonders if she’s a doctor or nurse, and tells her to take the bed; he only sleeps an hour or two if he’s lucky. She asks how he knew she was a nurse. He says he doesn’t know many people who could stick a needle in their side. He asks if she was a nurse until… and she says, yeah. He says it seems like forever ago, and she agrees.

Naomi is restless. She sees the couch is empty and gets up. John is cleaning the pistols. He hears her but when he turns around, she’s gone.

John whacks some more zombies in the creek area. Naomi comes out, and asks if they wash up. He says, there’s something amiss up river. He tells her that he goes to the store on Tuesday, and she says she’ll come. He thinks she should rest, but Naomi is insistent. He supposes he wouldn’t mind he company, and gives her a pair of boots, telling her there are snakes. She declines, saying she won’t be able to run in them. He leaves them on the porch in case she changes her mind.

They take the canoe down the river. She asks if he’s been there long, and he says, a good while. She asks what he did before, and he tells her that he was a police officer. She wonders why he didn’t bring his guns; she thought all cops have them, but he says they cause more problems than they solve. She asks if he liked being a cop, and he says, at one time. Zombies walk the bridge, and one falls in. Naomi takes out her knife, but John pushes it into the water with his oar, and they go past. He notes that a broken part of the bridge railing needs tending to.

John docks the boat, and they head for the store. He says it’s been in Bill’s family for sixty years. Naomi asks where Bill is now, but John doesn’t know. They closed the road for repair before things went south, and he hasn’t seen him since. They walk into a fully-stocked store, and John tells Naomi to help herself. She gets a knapsack. and fills it, while he gets supplies. Naomi moves some merchandise around, and John asks if she’s rearranging things. She explains that people need splints and dressings, and aren’t always thinking. She’s just doing her part. He tells her how his name is Dorie, like the fish, except ie.

Outside, he says they’re going to need a ladder. They fix the bridge, and John asks if he can call her Laura. She says that’s fine, but she won’t be staying long. A zombie toddles toward them, and she stabs it in the head.

While lying in bed, Laura hears a movie playing, and comes out. John says sorry for disturbing her (which my autocorrect wanted to change to disrobing her – ha-ha!). It’s usually his movie night, although every night is getting to be movie night. She gets some water, and he says he’ll turn the volume down. He asks if she wants some popcorn. She doesn’t, but she sits on the couch. I’m trying to figure out what the movie is from the dialogue we can hear, but I can’t. He tells her about the snacks he makes on movie night, and suggests concocting something.

John snoozes, and Laura looks at him. He opens his eyes, and she says she lost her child. She gets up, and goes back to bed.

Laura wants John to teach her to fish. It’s a resource, so she should know how. They go out on the river, and he instructs her. She hooks a fish, and gets all excited. He teaches her how to clean and gut it. They have it for dinner, and she thanks him. They play Scrabble.

There’s more fishing the next day, and Laura prepares it herself. That afternoon, John clips her stitches. He says she might have a scar, but nothing too bad. She thinks she should be going, since she’s healed up, but she’ll take a couple days to pack some things. John goes outside, and chops a zombie’s head in half. Laura says they need something stronger to block the opening; a car at Bill’s might still have a charge. She helped him, and it’s the least she can do. He gets wheel barrow, and loads up the zombie he downed.

At the bridge, John asks how Laura learned to hot wire a car, and she asks if he’s going to arrest her. He sees she’s got one of his pistols, and says he asked her not to go through his things. She tells him that they might need protection, but he says she’s good with a knife; the noise from the gun just brings more zombies. She says they’re no good in a box, but he wants them in a box, not out there. He gets out of the truck.

John walks through the zombies, whacking them. Laura gets the ones he doesn’t, and it’s a chopfest. They drive a truck to the opening, blocking it. Laura is on the truck, but outside of the cab, guiding John. The zombies begin to gather, and Laura tells John to shoot them. They’re pushing at the car, and one zombie breaks the window with the machete that’s poking through him, and is now six inches from John’s face. He stabs at it, while Laura keeps yelling for him to shoot. John finally deals a fatal blow, but then won’t stop stabbing once it’s over. He and Laura are both covered in the blood that has sprayed everywhere.

Back at the cabin, Laura scrubs at their clothing. John says he didn’t get bit, but she says she’s seen people get sick from being exposed. He tells her that he didn’t mean for it to happen. She says he had a gun. He says that’s not how he does things, and she says it nearly got him killed. He says, better him than someone else. She asks if what he’s talking about has to do with why he doesn’t want to talk about being a cop. She asks what happened; did he take it or fire it? He says he fired. She says, good guy or bad guy? He says that’s not the way he looks at things, but she’d call him bad. She asks if it was a mistake or intentional, and he says, intentional. It was an intentional mistake. He stopped at the gas station, and a guy was robbing the place. John told him that he was a police officer, and to put his weapon down, but he would not. He tried to clip the guy in the leg. John starts to choke up, and Laura tells him it’s okay. John says, the guy turned, and he hit him dead center in the leg, and he bled out. Laura asks if that’s why he moved up there, but he says, no. People thought he was a hero. She says, it doesn’t matter how many people say it’s not your fault; what matters is if you believe it.

On the bridge, the zombies clamor at the truck. It starts to roll, and they start falling into the river.

Laura and John are sleeping, when John hears a lot of zombie noises. That’s because there are a sh*tload of them coming toward his house. He calls to Laura, and starts to whack them as they come out of the creek. Laura whacks and chops at them with a shovel, but they’re all falling into the moat, creating a bridge for the ones still coming. They’re surrounded, and Laura tumbles into the moat. John suddenly has the guns, one in each hand, and shoots with both at once, doing that twirling-the-guns thing. The last one is inches from Laura’s face and it’s hard to aim, but he does it, and kills the zombie. Holy! Even though we know both of them make it, I was holding my breath.

John surveys the mess. Laura sits next to him on the steps. She thanks him. She says he might not think he’s a hero, but she does. He’s an honorable person, and she’s very, very lucky to have washed up in his front yard. He gives her one of the pistols, telling her, if she’s going, she’ll need it, and he needs her to take it.

They sit on the couch. John gets up, and Laura asks what it is; why won’t he look at her? He says he loves her, but he didn’t want her to know. She asks why, and he says because she’s leaving, and he doesn’t want her to. He says if she wants the cabin, he’ll go. He tells her that he needs her alive. If she’s alive, the whole world feels alive. They kiss. At this point, I’m liking him too.

John wakes up to Billy Bass – alone. He looks around, and calls Laura’s name. He sees her shoes where the boots were on the porch. On the table is, I love you too Im sorry, in Scrabble letters.

Morgan and John sit by the side of the road. Morgan says, she loved you, and John says, yes. John says, maybe if he’d waited to tell her… but Morgan says, no waiting; not in this world. Waiting is how you lose people. John says he believed he had a second chance; it was stupid. Morgan says they still do. Madison, Victor, Luci; they’re still here. They think the only thing left is to fight, kill, or die. John says, maybe they’re right. Morgan tells John to look him in the eye, and tell him that’s what he believes. If he can do that, they’ll go their separate ways. John says he doesn’t believe it. Morgan says, they’re alive. They’re part of the world. Let’s not waste another second.

Morgan gets up, and gathers his stuff. John puts the other pistol in his holster. They walk down the road.

Nice episode.

Next time, John uses the pistols some more, Mel tells Madison to be careful, and Naomi says it’s dangerous.

🐟 Apparently, there’s more than one Dory with a y who’s a fish, and is a John. A white-fleshed sea fish found in European waters, John Dory (also known as St Peter’s fish), is an odd-looking creature with an oval, flat body and a large, spiny head. The white, boneless, meaty flesh is firm and flavoursome and can be cooked in a variety of ways: grill, sauté or poach it. – from BBC.co.uk  – Food.

💀 🔊 Talking Dead was a good one too, the guests being Yvette Nicole Brown and Jenna Elfman. The artistry of the episode was discussed, and it really was beautifully filmed. The scenery was gorgeous, but John’s cabin was also an amazing setting. Yvette talked about how she has an investment in the characters after knowing the backstory. I was with her there, but I’ve always had more investment in the characters from Fear than those in The Walking Dead. From the jump, they were more multi-faceted. TWD needs a charming rogue like Victor, trading barbs and sexual tension with Maggie. I was surprised nobody brought up Naomi/Laura having lost her child, but Jenna Elfman was very cagey about where the story was going next. I wondered if her child was Charlie. Also surprising was the gift an audience member went home with – a canoe. A clip of Garrett Dillahunt (John) talking about filming the episode, gave me a quote that I not only couldn’t resist adding, but could relate to: It’s only been six days but I feel twenty-seven days tired.

This did not include my own mother’s favorite, this is not a restaurant, which I actually heard come out of my own mouth while babysitting my neighbor’s twins. Although my mom wasn’t Irish, that list looks pretty mom universal.

May 9, 2018 – Nelle’s Plans For Carly Are Epic, Dorinda Gets Drunk in PR, Star Steals the Mic, Kim D, PC’s Bad Seed & Midweek

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Julian brings Kim a cortado to the hospital.

Josslyn asks how Oscar is, since last night was intense. She asks if he told Drew, but Oscar doesn’t want to disappoint him. It’s their first time hanging out.

Carly cancels her appointment with Doc. She’s told they have opening tomorrow.

Sonny boxes with the bag, thinking about Carly saying Nelle is working an angle, and making excuses for not watching Mike. Michael asks if it helps, and Sonny says not as much as he wishes it would.

Carly says she’ll have to look at her schedule. She takes a pill. Josslyn walks in and asks what’s up with that?

At the gallery, Ava tells Nelle despite being coerced into going to the shower, she’s bringing a gift. Nelle thought she’d make life easier, and has one for her. Ava asks if it’s ticking. Nelle says it’s not a bomb, but will make Carly’s head explode. I can’t wait to see that.

Drew tells Oscar that he mapped out Cougar Mountain. Oscar is excited, since he’s wanted to go there. He says it could take all day, and Drew says that’s why he brought food from Kelly’s to hold them over until they have his mom’s famous chili.

Kim tells Julian about the hike. She looks at her phone, and sees that thunderstorms are on the way, with possible winds. She says Drew could walk through them without batting an eye, but what if Oscar won’t complain because Drew will think he’s a wimp? Julian doubts Drew will drag him through a storm. It’s one of those moments she needs to trust them.

Michael asks Sonny if he should be worried. Sonny says he keeps thinking Carly will be okay and figure it out. Michael asks what’s going on; he knows she’s seeing Doc. Sonny says she swears she’s seeing things and people who aren’t there. She checked out neurologically, so the next step was going to Doc. He gave her some anti-anxiety meds, but Sonny doesn’t think they’re working. He says it has to do with Michael’s brother, and Michael asks if she thinks he’s still there. Sonny says that’s where it’s headed; he thinks she’s crumbling. Michael says grief doesn’t have a timetable. Sonny says with a loss like Morgan, anything can set it off.

Carly tells Nelle the pills are to relax; she’s been wound up lately. Josslyn is like, no kidding, and Carly says she’s taking care of it. She asks how Josslyn is doing, and Josslyn says she’s excited for Nelle’s baby shower. Carly says her too. Josslyn says she thought Carly was sucking it up. Carly says she’s going to the shower, and Josslyn suggests she work on her facial expressions, so she doesn’t look like she’s dying a slow death at the Quartermaines. Carly says Nelle doesn’t make it easy. Josslyn asks, what did she do now?

Ava thinks she’ll stick with her own gift, but Nelle insists on the one she brought. She even has a card. All Ava has to do is put her name on it. Ava asks if it will disappear. She asks what it is, but Nelle says she’ll know soon enough. Ava doesn’t like it. Nelle says she doesn’t have to; just do it. Ava assumes she has no choice, and Nelle says not like she did when she took the picture of the medical test. She asks what Ava is doing with the information anyway? Ava says it doesn’t matter now that Nelle is blackmailing her. Nelle says Ava will get Avery back, and she’ll get Michael back after she takes down his mother. It will be epic. Ava asks what she has in store for Carly.

Josslyn can’t understand why Carly is questioning Nelle’s motives with the guardianship. Carly says Nelle wants to look good in front of Michael. Josslyn says, so what? Even if that’s the case, isn’t it a good thing? Carly says, of course, and Josslyn tells her everybody wins. Carly says Michael doesn’t win, but Josslyn says he’s an adult about to be a father, and can make his own decisions. One of them may be get back together with Nelle. Carly asks why she’s saying that, and Josslyn says she ran into Nelle, who said they’re making progress. She asks if it would really be the worst thing, and Carly says it would. Josslyn says they could be a family. Carly wants to call Michael, and Josslyn tells her that Nelle isn’t the devil. Carly says she’s the closest thing to it. Josslyn reminds Carly that Nelle saved her life. It’s Nelle’s kidney in her body. She’s there because of Nelle. Would it kill Carly to see some good? People change all the time. Maybe Nelle realized she made a mistake and is genuinely sorry. Josslyn asks Carly to please try for her, and Carly says she’d do anything for her.

Sonny says amazing as was when Jason came home, and Michael finishes that Carly thinks a miracle happened with Morgan. It’s not rational. Sonny says, no, but as a parent, you can’t control the emotions around you. He has to be patient, hope she figures out that it’s just wishful thinking and goes back to normal. Whatever she’s going through is also escalating her war with Nelle.

Nelle tells Ava that Carly stopped by the Quartermaine’s, offering to help with the shower; it was so fake. Ava suggests she might have been trying to build a bridge, but Nelle says, no. She’d reached out to Carly and Sonny, giving them guardianship in case something happened to her and Michael. Of course Carly took it all wrong. The moment Nelle raised the subject, it was also painfully obvious that Carly had talked to a lawyer about custody. Ava says they’re skilled at that, and Nelle says, screw them; she’s fighting back. Ava asks what she’s planning, but Brad walks in. He tells them about the adoption being final. He and Lucas should be getting the baby around the same time Nelle’s arrives. Ava says she has work to do, but Brad says he’s actually there to see her.

Kim tells Julian that she won’t call Drew, and trust he’ll do what’s best for Oscar. She’s not used to sharing a kid. Julian says she’s doing great, and she calls him a liar. Lucas asks if Kim has a second. Julian asks how things are going with the baby, and Lucas says, all systems go. Julian wishes he’d been there when his children were being born; he missed all the firsts. He says he’ll do everything in his power to prove worthy of being the baby’s grandfather. Lucas barely acknowledges him, and confers with Kim. Julian looks dejected.

Drew tells Oscar there are thunderstorms in the forecast, but hopefully, they’ll miss them. Oscar gets up, and is obviously in pain. Drew asks if he’s okay, and Oscar says he needs to tell him something. Drew asks what’s going on? Clearly, he got hurt. Oscar tells him that he twisted his knee rehearsing for the Nurses’ Ball. Drew probably thinks he’s an idiot. Drew says, no, and Oscar says he didn’t want to miss the hike; he thought he could stretch it out. Drew says they’ll do it another time. He checks Oscar’s knee and thinks it’s okay, but he needs to see a doctor. He suggests calling Kim, and Oscar says she’ll freak. He asks if they can hang for a little bit and talk. Dew sits, and asks what he’d like to talk about. Oscar says, anything; life. Drew tells him that’s a broad topic, and asks if he can narrow it down. Oscar says this was a bad idea. Drew says he’s no life expert, but has lived more years than Oscar, and can give him what he’s got. Oscar says he just doesn’t remember most of it.

Julian asks Lucas to let him know when the baby is born, and Lucas says he’ll keep him in the loop. Kim asks if Julian is okay, and Julian says, never better. She can’t imagine how hard it must be, and he says he should be getting used to it. She says she doesn’t think you get used to being shut out of your kids’ lives. She tells him that he’s going to turn it around, and he says he believes her; tell Lucas and Sam. Kim says she’s the worst. She should be counting her blessings instead of complaining. Julian says she has every right to want to protect Oscar. She thinks maybe she’s being overprotective.

Brad tells Ava that Lucas was raving about a duck painting, and he thought he could surprise him with it for the nursery. Ava says it was so big, she couldn’t keep it at the gallery. She can get it, but it’s expensive. Brad asks if there isn’t a friends and family discount. She says she’ll look up the price and see what she can do. Nelle tells Brad it’s overwhelming; who knew you needed all this stuff for a baby? She asks if anyone is throwing them a shower, but Brad says they’re waiting for the baby, since they don’t want to jinx anything. He asks if she’s still loving being pregnant, and she says more every day. She has company all the time, so she’s never lonely. The thought of growing a little person inside her is like a miracle, just like his will be. She says she talks to the baby every night, promising the life she never had, especially two parents in love. He asks if she and Michael are back together, and she says, not yet, but soon. He tells her to go for it. That’s what he did with Lucas, and look at them now.

Michael tells Sonny they shouldn’t care if Nelle is being manipulative; take the gift and run. Sonny agrees. Michael says Carly has every right to hate Nelle, but this isn’t like her. Sonny says Nelle isn’t the problem right now. Carly is suddenly there, and asks if they were going to say she’s the problem. Nelle is being attacked by big, bad Carly? She can’t believe this is going on right now.

Kim tells Julian she has a great kid; she got lucky. She’s trusted him to make his own choices, and they’ve been good for the most part. She wants Oscar to have relationship with father, but they’re so different. Drew is super macho, and Oscar’s… not like that. Julian says that sometimes fathers and sons are different, because he’s quite the philosopher. She says in the beginning, Oscar was worried Drew wouldn’t like him, since they have nothing in common. That’s when they were strangers, and now Oscar idolizes him; she can tell. Julian asks what she’s concerned about, and she says, what if Oscar starts putting pressure on himself to be more like Drew? She knows it sounds absurd, but Julian says it doesn’t.

Oscar tells Drew it would be cool if he remembered when he was fifteen. Drew asks if Oscar and Josslyn are… and Oscar says not yet. Drew asks if they’ve talked about it, but he says they’re not there yet. It would be nice if he could get advice from his dad though. Drew apologizes for not having any experiences to draw from; he wishes he did. This seems absurd, since Drew could either check out Jason’s experiences or just make intelligent suggestion. Oscar asks if there’s anyone out there who could help him get his memory back, and Drew says the man who performed the initial procedure. Oscar asks if he can un-perform it, and Drew says it’s risky, but possible. Oscar asks if he can he reach out, not just for him, but for himself. Wouldn’t he like to know who he is? Drew says he would. He’s thought about it quite a bit, but there were obstacles in the way. He wants the people he loves to know who he is. Maybe it’s time to give it another shot.

Brad’s eyes pop out when he sees the price of the painting. Ava says it’s with a generous 20% discount. The painter was named one of the top ten up and comers, and it would be a nice investment. Brad says, so would robbing a bank. There’s no way they can afford it. He thanks her anyway, and appreciates the discount. She says any friend of Nelle’s is a friend of hers. Brad says he’s also family. Ava goes in the back, and Nelle tells Brad that she’s having a rough day; boyfriend troubles. She tells him that he can register the painting for when they have a shower. Brad says she’s going to be drowning in loot between the Corinthos family and the Quartermaines. She would love for the family to accept her. She’s trying hard, but can’t make a dent. Carly doesn’t like her, and likes even less that she loves Michael. Brad tells her to keep chipping away. He asks where she’s registered, so he can get a gift. She tells him his gift can be coming to the shower. It would be nice to see a friendly face there besides Josslyn and Monica. She tells him it’s this afternoon, and he asks if it makes him a loser that his schedule is completely open. She says she’ll see him there, and he leaves. Ava asks how far she’s taking things with Carly today, and Nelle says by the time the shower is over, Carly is going to be exposed for the raving lunatic she is.

Carly asks if Sonny and Michael talk behind her back a lot. Michael says she doesn’t seem like herself, and she says she’s not losing it. Sonny tells her that no one is saying that. They’re family, and when things get tough, they help each other. Michael says he’s right; she can’t seem to get her footing with Nelle. Carly says she’s started. She offered to help with the shower, and they had a civil conversation. Michael tells her, good luck today, and they’ll talk after. He leaves, and Sonny says it’s good she reached out to Nelle. Carly tells him that he doesn’t have to worry about her, but he says, too late.

Sonny asks how Carly is feeling, and she says, good; the pills working, and she’s more relaxed. She’s not even dreaming about Morgan, but she misses that. She can’t wait to get back on track. Sonny suggests after she’s done with the shower, she take a trip to Puerto Rico. The repairs on the house are finished, and she can do her therapy over the phone. He has to take care of setting up a caregiver for Mike, but when he’s done, what better way fix what’s broken? She says, no problem can’t be solved by a day on the beach. Think what a week or month could do.

Nelle looks at the blanket she’s been knitting, and says, not bad. if says so herself. Ava asks what the deal with the blanket is, and Nelle tells her, have patience; all will be revealed soon. Ava wants to make one thing clear, Nelle can blackmail her all she wants, but if Avery is in the line of fire, they’re out of there. Nelle says she would never hurt or put an innocent child in danger. The same way Ava wouldn’t hurt a kid who’s bipolar. She knows where to cause the maximum pain. Ava tells her to be careful, and Nelle asks why? Carly doesn’t know who’s haunting her. Ava asks if this has to do with the blanket or the disappearing ink. What the hell is going on?

Michael asks Josslyn if it’s weird for him to get a present for his own baby. She thinks it’s sweet, and Nelle will too. Josslyn asks what the odds are of their mom enjoying the shower, and he says, none.

In the park, Brad tells Lucas about the baby shower, but Lucas has to work. Brad says Lucas really seems torn up about it. Lucas says he can’t forgive what Nelle did to his sister, and Brad says his family can hold a grudge. Lucas says he forgave Brad, didn’t he? Michael and Josslyn join them. Josslyn is excited about the adoption. She knows they’re not celebrating yet, but she has a gift for all the expectant dads. She hands each of them an envelope. Inside is a certificate for free babysitting from her.

Julian tells Kim to keep doing what she’s doing. She loves her son, and if he follows in his father’s footsteps, don’t fight him, just be supportive; she’s good at it. Drew brings Oscar in, and Oscar tells her, don’t freak. Drew says everything is okay, and Oscar adds that he twisted his knee at rehearsal. She asks why he didn’t tell her. Drew says it’s not bad, and he didn’t make it worse by hiking. She thanks God for small favors. Drew apologizes for not calling right away; they were having a good talk. Kim says it’s okay; he checked Oscar out. He’s not a doctor, but he’s seen his fair share of injuries. He points out that she’s white knuckling the chart in her hands, and she says, okay; she freaked out a little, but should get points for not biting his head off. He says she gets them, and it’s a vast improvement. Julian says he’s heading out, and Oscar goes to get an x-ray.

Drew calls Andre. He wants Andre to try and reverse the procedure. He wants his memories back.

Lucas promises Brad it’s no jinx. Michael tells Josslyn, good luck. He has the feeling she’ll need it.

Carly tells Sonny she’s going to the shower. He says it’s her last chance to bail, but she says she’s going to be the doting grandmother. He says she’s the hottest grandma he’s seen, and she says him too. He tells her that he’s gramps twice over, but she says he’ll never be gramps on her watch. After the shower, it’s surf and sand.

Nelle isn’t giving Ava any details in case of plausible implication. Ava says if Nelle implicates her, Carly’s demons unleashed will be nothing. Nelle says between that, and Sonny dealing with his father, Ava will have sole custody in no time. They’re on the same team. Ava says they’re not teammates; they’re worlds apart. Nelle says that Sonny will always despise Ava, and when Avery grows up, he’ll tell her about what Ava has done. Whereas, she, Michael, and the baby will have a life filled with nothing but joy. Ava says, don’t count on it.

Tomorrow, Finn makes a pact with Alexis, Ava tells Nelle that she’s not doing well so far, and Sonny asks Max if he’s screwed.

The Real Housewives of New York City

Tinsley calls her mom while she waits for Carole to have lunch.

Dorinda tells LuAnn she doesn’t know what to expect on the trip to Puerto Rico.

Bethenny checks everything for the trip. She says everyone asks to come, but Dorinda showed actual interest. In her interview, she hopes Dorinda will tell everyone how dire it is, and they’ll want to get involved. she says it’s going to be intense.

Tinsley talks about Scott coming for Christmas, and Carole arrives. Carole is wearing pajamas with a belt and I’m not feeling it. She gives a really complicated egg order, and, much to the relief of the waitress, Tinsley gets avocado toast. Carole wants to hear the deets on Scott’s visit. Tinsley says she’s never gotten a surprise like that. In her interview, Tinsley says they hadn’t been in a good place, but as soon as she saw him, all was well. Carole is thinking of making a full break with Adam. He told her he went on a date with someone and liked her. In her interview, she says it was the most awkward phone call ever. They had an unspoken spoken agreement (whatever that means) after slipping back into a relationship. Tinsley asks if they’ve talked. In her interview, Carole says in Adam’s mind, he was being respectful, but in hers, it was, are you kidding me? She thinks his idea of a break-up was still having her in his life in all ways, including sex. Tinsley thinks maybe it’s better to have a clean break.

The real estate broker comes by Sonja’s. Even though she’s renting, not selling, Sonja still has some letting go to do. The broker says her tone is beautiful, but other people might not think so. She’s hoping to get $32K a month, and the broker tells her to make sure to fix every detail. In her interview, Sonja says it’s more work than she anticipated before she can even show it. She wishes she could just twitch her nose.

Dorinda tells Bethenny that she’s been excited for days. In her interview, Dorinda says it was a surprise. All the nonsense has dissipated, and they’re concentrating on being friends. We flash back to when they weren’t so friendly. Bethenny explains how she got to this point with the volunteer work. No one had come, FEMA hadn’t come (no surprise), and everyone was broke; it was a zoo. She says all the relief is donated, and the cash cards are strictly for the people, and it will be going back into the economy. Dorinda doesn’t know how it’s possible to disperse so much in such a short time.

Tinsley, Ramona, and Carole get manicures. Carole says she’s the glue that holds the combo together. Tinsley tells Ramona why she couldn’t come to the party for Carole. Ramona says a boyfriend is the best reason not to. She tells Tinsley about Sonja’s behavior at the party. Sonja didn’t like Ramona saying she was closer to Carole, and she seems to be alienating everyone. In her interview, Ramona says they’ve always had a special bond. She hopes Sonja can make things better with herself and everyone else. Ramona tells them about Bethenny taking Dorinda to Puerto Rico, and Carole says she would have gone if Bethenny had asked. Ramona is surprised she wasn’t invited, especially since it’s up Carole’s alley. Carole says she just made a big donation, and everyone supports in different ways. In her interview, Ramona says it’s like watching a couple get divorced. Carole feels Bethenny and Dorinda are developing a stronger friendship, but in her interview, she wonders what’s going on. She says it’s all good, and she’s happy to support in other ways.

Bethenny welcomes Dorinda to her warehouse. She introduces Michael, her charity partner. The total will be more than ten million pounds. Michael was a skabillionaire who now does charity work. He’s coordinating all the relief. In her interview, Bethenny says she begged people for planes. Michael calls it a little FEMA. I hope they’re better than that. In her interview, Bethenny says no one knows what she’s doing, and it’s maddening. She’s up all night on the internet. They go over some maps, and Dorinda says they’re going to some really remote parts. Bethenny is glad she could bring someone from “her other life,” so it seems real.

LuAnn meets daughter Victoria for dinner. In her interview, she says she’d traveling with Tom and her life revolved around him. Now she can reconnect with her children. She says Victoria supports and doesn’t judge her. She tells Victoria about looking for a new place. Victoria asks if she was ever comfortable at Tom’s apartment, and LuAnn says not really. It was very much a bachelor pad, despite her touches. She says, in retrospect… why did she have to get married? Victoria says it was fast. LuAnn doesn’t regret it, and says things happen for a reason. She has some good memories. In her interview, LuAnn says nothing was working in their marriage. They were arguing and drinking too much. She couldn’t take the suffering, insecurity, and not feeling like she had a partner. She went in quick, and got out quick. Victoria says she told Tom that he’s superficial, and it’s hard to know him; he doesn’t know how to hug. She and LuAnn hug.

Dorinda meets Bethenny and her core group for dinner. In her interview, Bethenny says they all work 24/7 and get paid nothing. Bethenny goes over what they need to do tomorrow. Dorinda says what Bethenny has done is amazing, but Bethenny says it’s what they’ve all done. In her interview, Bethenny says they’d been drinking earlier, and thinks Dorinda did a pregame; she’s wasted. Yep, she is. They’re using subtitles. In her interview, Bethenny asks if this is the night to go off the rails before 7 pm. The operations director talks about a kid needing gas for a generator to power a ventilator, and how they solved it. Michael tells them about a tent city in Haiti, and how they’ve been hands on. Dorinda says you have to get down in the home front to make things happen. Michael says they’ve had amazing progresses, and people are going to college now. Dorinda argues with him about that. Bethenny says he would know, since he’s been going there. In her interview, Bethenny says, wtf? She’s embarrassed. All they’ve done is good, so why is Dorinda on them? Dorinda says Haiti is still in a bad place, and Bethenny says that’s no reason to give up. Dorinda brings up Richard, and how she traveled with him doing good deeds, but it didn’t matter. Bethenny suggests that if she feels hopeless, maybe she shouldn’t come tomorrow. Dorinda asks if she doesn’t want her, and Bethenny says not the way she’s acting. Dorinda says she was happy to come and Bethenny always ruins everything. She storms out, and there are crickets at the table.

Michael says he knows Bethenny’s heart is in it, and to do whatever she wants, but he doesn’t think Dorinda is going to change; she de. Bethenny says she was married to a guy who was slightly political and powerful, and probably thought she should contribute to the conversation, and she’d been drinking. She has compassion for Dorinda, and says she really does want to help. No doubt, she’ll regret it in the morning. In her interview, Bethenny says Dorinda will wake up tomorrow and regret this, but she’ll be there on time and ready to go. She texts Dorinda, saying it was a weird night, and to come tomorrow.

Sonja is meeting with a photographer at the townhouse, and needs to hide her prescriptions, vibrators, and things she didn’t even know she should hide. The broker arrives with him, and Sonja says her housekeeper couldn’t make It, and sorry it’s cluttered. The broker says Travis is the best, and they’ll work around it. In her interview, Sonja says since she’s met with the broker, she doesn’t look at her place with the same eyes. It looks dirty, or used, or old. I refrain from making numerous jokes. Sonja doesn’t want it to look unappetizing. She tells them that this is contributing to her anxiety, and she just wants it over. In her interview, she says photographer Travis is another story. She asks who he’s dating, and he says he’s married. She tells him that he ruined her day. They go out on the patio, and Sonja has left dog poopy on a stool – or stool on a stool, if you will – for the housekeeper to pick up. This makes me wonder why she couldn’t just get rid of it wherever it’s supposed to go, since she picked it up anyway. Travis does what all good real estate photographers do, and makes everything look inviting, clean, and bigger than it really is. We find out Travis is married to a man, and this makes Sonja feel better. She asks if he’s sure he’s not bisexual.

The next morning, Bethenny brings out the duffel bag of cash cards, saying it feels like she’s carrying bricks. In her interview, she says Dorinda just smiled at her like nothing happened, but she doesn’t want to bring it up. Dorinda feels badly about not having a good night, but she’d had a long day, was anxious, and shouldn’t have been drinking. She says it is what it is, and she’s all about the new day.

They get on a plane. In her interview, Bethenny says she doesn’t want to bring it up; it’s not her place, but Dorinda’s behavior is not okay. After they get settled in, Bethenny tells Dorinda not to get her fur up, but she goes to a sixteen out of ten, and sometimes treats her worse than Ramona does. She gives Dorinda slack because she’s a drunk. Yes, she said that. Dorinda says she isn’t, but she can’t not eat and drink. Bethenny says she gets mean when she drinks, and Dorinda says she has a lot going on in her life. Bethenny says, they all do. Dorinda tells Bethenny that her frustrations come up and intensify; it’s something she has to work on. She says she has to apologize, and Bethenny says she has to not drink. Dorinda doesn’t think she’s an alcoholic, but uses it as an excuse to behave badly. In her interview, Dorinda says Bethenny likes to label people, and it’s not fair or accurate. Bethenny has had her moments, and one night doesn’t define someone. Maybe not, but what about a hundred nights?

Bethenny says Dorinda has been talking about Richard more. Maybe it’s because Dennis reminds her of him. Dorinda says Dennis is so much like him. She says, at one point, it was real, and she thought it was forever. The life she has isn’t the life she expected. Ha! Welcome to the club, sister. She thinks that’s why it triggered so much when Sonja talked about her divorce. We flash back to Sonja being clueless and insensitive at LuAnn’s lunch. Dorinda says that person still has the option of seeing him walk through the door. Bethenny says Dorinda has more of a chance of seeing her late husband walk through the door, than Sonja does seeing her ex. She screwed up and she knows it. In her interview, Bethenny thinks Dorinda needs a full-time relationship. If she only sees her man half the time, she spends the other have thinking about Richard.

Dorinda says the things she appreciated are over. She was good at being a wife and mother. Bethenny says she can still be a wife, and thinks her saying she doesn’t want to get married again is a defense mechanism. She asks what John would say about her seeing other people. Dorinda says she’s okay with living alone, but sometimes wonders if anyone would find her if she died. She wonders if she needs an I’ve-fallen-and-I-can’t-get-up necklace. In her interview, she says, life is hard; trying to keep it together and be a strong woman and mother is hard. She misses her old life, when she came home to a person who had her back. She tells Bethenny, as bad as it was with Richard dying, she grew so much. The person standing by his coffin is not the person she is today. Maybe the person who met John isn’t the same person today. Yes! Get rid of him. The free dry-cleaning isn’t worth it. Exhibiting amazing control and subtlety, Bethenny says maybe she needs a different partner. Dorinda says she doesn’t think so. She’s fulfilled in the relationship. How? Why? In her interview, Dorinda says she loves John, but doesn’t know why she won’t make a commitment to move in. Part of her misses it, but part of her is afraid of doing it again. That’s because he’s a slob who doesn’t deserve you – i.e. the wrong guy. Dorinda tells Bethenny she thinks she needs therapy. Bethenny thinks that’s a good idea. I’ll accept it in lieu of her dumping John. They hug.

Next time, Bethenny passes out the money cards, Carole talks #meetoo, Sonja recruits LuAnn and Ramona to work on her place, and Carole tells Bethenny to get off her jock.

Star

Natalie got fired, and suggested Maurice sign Alex before someone else does. He didn’t want to mess with Carlotta’s girls, but approached Alex anyway. Alex had to leave, but said she’s be back in time for Take 3’s live TV performance. Star gave Jackson’s music to Maurice. Maurice (who’s having a busy week) tried to create friction between Star and Alex, but she told him to stay out of Take 3’s business. Ayanna said Alex was hot, so she bumped Angel and Andy for Take 3 on the tour. Jaden needed blood donations, but Latisha didn’t want Cotton involved. She relented when Jahil said he’d need it from all the family.

Angel and Andy decided to split up to get out of their contract with Jahil. Angel told Jahil that he was dead to him. Andy got it on with Brandi Cassie. Since he was out of a job, she tried to give him some cash, but he wasn’t interested, so she gave him a side job of delivering a car. Alex was late, and Ayanna dropped Take 3 from the TV show, saying if Alex showed up, she could sing Noah’s new track with him. Star wondered why Alex was getting rewarded with a solo for being late. Noah didn’t want to debut his new music, but Carlotta told him that he’d better get ready, and took his liquor away. Maurice encouraged Star to do what she could to stand out.

Andy delivered the car for Cassie, but it was really a drug deal, the drugs hidden in the body of the car. When he brought the money back to Cassie, she said she gave him the opportunity to earn. He said she gave him the opportunity to be a drug mule. While she was out of the room, Andy scooped up a couple of stacks of money, and split.

Jaden asked Jahil if he was going to die, and Jahil said he wouldn’t let that happen, finalizing things with a fist bump. The doctor gave the bad news that Jaden needed to be on dialysis. His kidneys were shutting down, and unfortunately, none of the family was a match for a kidney. Cotton blamed Carlotta for Jaden’s illness. Cotton tried to be a man, and got with Latisha for her. Now her son is about to die because she tried to be something she wasn’t

Alex arrived in the nick of time, but couldn’t find her mic. That’s because Star had it, and took her place in the duet with Noah. BTW, Star’s hoop earrings rivaled Lala’s from Vanderpump Rules. After the son, Alex smacked Star, and called her garbage. Carlotta asked how many more people she had to hurt. Angel told Simone everything leads back to Jahil. He grew up idolizing him, and now can’t trust him; he can’t trust anybody. Simone said he could trust her. He told her that she keeps a lot inside, and she explained that her foster father, Otis, abused her. Angel told her that he loved her.

After Star’s performance, Natalie encouraged Maurice to sign Star instead of Alex. Maurice said he loved Carlotta, and Natalie asked if he was willing to sacrifice his career. She said Star was capable of delivering the world to him. Noah admitted to Star that he was wasted when he wrote the song. When he leaves, the paparazzi swamp him, but he said Star just filled in. No one can replace Alex.

Carlotta told Noah he needed rehab, and Ayanna told him that he was one step closer to a national tour; keep doing what he’s doing. Simone and Angel started to get busy in the trailer, but were interrupted by the delivery of a letter from immigration. Angel’s application was denied, and he had to show up in court.

Alex asked Jackson for his track, telling him she no longer cared how Star felt; it was business. Maurice talked Star into putting her performance with Noah online, telling her it was time to see what the world thinks.

Cassie went to the dealer’s garage, bringing Andy with her. She believed she was short-changed, and shot the dealer, killing him. Andy was just a little freaked out.

Tonight’s cavalcade of Queen Latifah‘s wigs included a blunt, above-the-shoulder cut with bangs, and silver and gold highlights; some smooth waves with deep auburn highlights; a side-swept short bob with purple highlights; and my favorite, a curly, swirly magenta updo. Miss Lawrence also did not disappoint, sporting a geometric cut in blue.

Next time, Simone quits, Jahil has big plans, and there’s a drive by.

👽 I saw Kim D on Botched. In a nutshell, her breasts were effed up. She should have just left them the way they were, since they matched the rest of her.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Drew boxes with the bag as he thinks about his last conversation with Sam. Jason walks into the gym.

Maxie tells someone it’s the standard ad rate is, and to tell her if she doesn’t like it, she can take a hike. She’s not afraid of Erica Kane. Ha-ha! She tells Sam she had a minor breakthrough. She’s realized that she can’t let her anger over Nathan rule her life, and stand in the way of other opportunities. Sam asks if that includes her friendship with Lulu.

Lulu types an email reply to Henrik’s mother at the MetroCourt. She says she’s Interested in learning more, starting with her name. Anna leaves a message for Robert on the phone.

Maxie asks since when is Sam Lulu’s cheerleader. She says, the plug on the friendship has been pulled – the end. Sam says, so that’s it? Maxie says she thought Sam was quitting Aurora, and asks if she’s back so soon. Sam says she never left; the timing was wrong. Maxie asks, what changed her mind?

Peter catches Valentin rooting through his office. He’s looking for any more incriminating evidence. Peter says nothing happened that can’t be handled. Valentin can say the same for Robert. They won’t have to worry about him again. He tells Peter that Sam has joined forces with Curtis to investigate him. She was once married to Jason, and there’s a good chance Peter’s house of cards will come crashing down around him.

Lulu thanks Anna for meeting with her. She needs to talk to Anna about Henrik. She heard from a woman claiming to be his mother.

Peter tells Valentin that Sam needs him to run the company. Valentin says he kept Jason prisoner for five years, and Peter says he saved Jason’s life. Valentin says that’s open to interpretation. Peter says this is getting tedious, but Valentin says he’s trying to protect him. Peter tells him then he should open his eyes. Robert isn’t the only threat. Anna needs to be dealt with.

Sam tells Maxie that she needs to check in with Nina. She’s still in the official capacity of co-CEO for now. Maxie says Sam claimed she wanted to move on, but she’s still in the middle of it. Sam says it has nothing to do with work, but about her. Maxie thought she was taking charge of her life, and wanted a clean break. Sam says clean breaks are few and far between, and she has unfinished business.

Jason tells Drew he can come back, but Drew says there’s enough room for two at the gym. He’s surprised he hasn’t seen Jason there before. Jason says he wants to work out, not fight. Drew says he and Sam are divorcing, but he probably knew that when Sam asked him to move back in. Jason says he and Sam aren’t together. Drew asks what happened in Switzerland. Jason tells him about getting into Faison’s safe deposit box, but there were no letters and no flash drive; he’s sorry. Drew doesn’t want sympathy. He doesn’t want anything from Jason at all.

Franco arrives home. Elizabeth was worried something happened. He tells her it took longer than he thought to wrangle Jim’s survivors. Elizabeth wonders if he needs space, but Franco says, no. He wants to talk. He has a lot to talk about. More than she can imagine.

Olivia-Q asks if she can get Alexis something to drink – tea, or bleach maybe? Alexis says Ned told her it would be brief. Olivia says he thought they should hash it out there, rather than her place of business; he’s considerate that way, unlike her. Ned joins them, and asks hypothetically speaking, if Alexis succeeds, the city’s taxpayers will have to foot the bill. It will come out of the pockets of the very friends and neighbors she’s fighting for, but it won’t come to that. Alexis asks if he’s ready to deal, but he says she’ll never file it. She already knows she’ll lose.

Franco tells Elizabeth that Steve worked for Jim as his right-hand man. After all these years, he was still connected to Jim. Elizabeth says it shows the horrifying power monsters like him have. He says Steve thought he’d never break free; he didn’t have someone to support him. She’s made a difference in his life. He shows her some documents, and she asks if they’re what she thinks they are, and what is he going to do with them?

Ned tells Alexis that the people voted for redevelopment. She says she didn’t see illegal fracking on the ballot. Ned says no one knew what Jim was doing. Alexis suggest he practice saying that. Him not knowing what his chief backer was doing, when he should have, won’t go over well with the public. Olivia says it’s all about the public, just like the lawsuit over her breastfeeding. Alexis says the people don’t have homes. Ned says she’s doing it to stay in the public eye, so she can make another run for mayor.

Lulu reads her reply to Anna. Anna says they have no intel on Henrik’s mother; even Obrecht didn’t know her name. The email couldn’t be more vague. Lulu says she has another email; someone claiming to be Henrik. Anna asks if Dante knows what’s going on. Lulu says if it really is Henrik, she doesn’t want him to go underground. Anna asks if she thinks he’ll agree to meet, and Lulu says he was adamant about telling his side of the story. She doesn’t want to screw this up and cause another tragedy. She needs guidance. Maxie comes into the MetroCourt.

Sam visits Nina’s office. Nina hopes her trip was relaxing, and Sam says it was definitely worthwhile. She asks if Nina is okay, and Nina says Crimson is running on all cylinders. She asks how Sam is dealing with everything, and Sam says she’s good. She tells Nina that they don’t have to be best friends, but they don’t have to be strangers either. She asks if she can talk to Nina. There’s something going on with Peter.

Valentin tells Peter that Anna isn’t a threat. Peter asks in what universe? She’s been gunning for him for months. She tried lure him out the night his father was shot; now they need to cover their tracks. Anna and Robert are a package deal; what one knows, the other does too. Whatever he did with Robert, he has to do the same with Anna, or Peter will do it for him. Valentin begins to stutter, telling Peter to leave Anna alone.

Maxie asks Anna if she and Lulu can have a minute, and Anna asks to borrow Lulu’s laptop. Maxie makes small talk about Lulu’s foot, and starts to leave. Lulu asks her to wait. She doesn’t want to give up on their friendship, and thinks Maxie feels the same way. She asks Maxie to tell her if she’s off-base, and she’ll leave her alone. She loves Maxie more than she misses her. Maxie wants to thank her and Dante for their donation to PC LEAF.

Nina tells Sam that she hired Curtis to investigate Peter. He told her that Sam found him in Peter’s office. Sam says they can’t cut her out, and Nina says she isn’t. She’s cutting the investigation.

Valentin tells Peter that one WSB agent disappearing, maybe, but not two. The whole agency will be looking. Peter says, better them than us. Valentin says he’s looked out for Peter since he was a child. He worked for Peter’s father when Peter was a schoolboy, desperate for attention and acceptance from his father. He was in the room when Peter invited Faison to his to drama club performance. His response was if his son wants him to watch him play make-believe, why travel? Peter says his father never showed up, but Valentin did. Valentin says he cares about Peter and always will. He saw himself in Peter. He knows what it’s like to be dropped into boarding school by a father preoccupied with more important things. Peter says Valentin taught him to think ahead, assess weaknesses, but exploit them only when necessary, and also not to be rash. Valentin says that’s why he has to forget Anna. Peter says Valentin is trying hard to protect her. What is she to him?

Jason tells Drew that he wanted to find the flash drive. Drew isn’t thrilled with remembering Jason’s memories. Jason says he doesn’t want to share his memories or anything else with Drew. Drew says he shares a daughter with Sam, and Jason says, whatever she decides. Drew snarks that he’s always noble. Sam was happy with him, until Jason fell from the sky and took over their lives.

Alexis asks if Ned thinks she’s a masochist. Olivia says it seems very personal, and Alexis says, of course. Her daughter and TJ are homeless, as well as a lot of her friends. Ned says he’s using all the resources he has, and Alexis says it’s not enough. It’s not about targeting anyone, but he looked the other way. Olivia suggests instead of suing the city, she should go after who’s responsible. Jim’s company has deep pockets. Alexis says the company will keep them in court for years and years. Ned says they’re providing emergency housing. Right now, they’re dealing with a crisis, and the lawsuit will create another one. Olivia says she won’t win; she can’t prove damages, and is going to lose. Alexis says maybe it will get the attention of the politicians padding their pockets with corporate greed. They should be working for the people, but they aren’t. They’re a disgrace to the voters, who will vote them out. Ned says she’s threatening to tear down the very city she wants to rebuild. Franco and Elizabeth walk in, and Franco says he has a way they can all win.

Elizabeth says that they told the housekeeper it was urgent, and she said to just come in. Ned says they’re working on something right now. Franco says going to court won’t fix it, but this might. He shows them the documents. Ned says it’s a certificate of transfer to the city from Jim’s company. All of the assets have been signed over to the city of Port Charles. I don’t think this would be possible, since they’re in bankruptcy, but I’ll let it slide.

Peter tells Valentin that his father had a fatal weakness for Anna, and he does too. Valentin doesn’t appreciate the comparison. He’s vulnerable to Anna, and so is Peter. If she fails to make contact with Robert, she’s going to work backwards to when he disappeared. It was just after he was at Windemere. Then who is she going to go after? Valentin says that’s why Peter needs to leave town. He has to assume a new identity. Peter says Valentin has made himself a prime suspect, and sooner or later, she’s coming after him. Then who is she going after? For both their sakes, Anna has to go.

Maxie leaves, and Anna returns to the table. Lulu says it might help Maxie if she got closure with Henrik. It’s one of the reasons she’s tempted to meet him. Anna tells her to be careful. The last thing she wants is for the events to spiral. Lulu says she’s too close. She thinks she might be seeing what she wants to. She needs someone objective with knowledge of Faison to see if the emails are legit. She asks Anna what she thinks.

Sam tells Nina that she got the impression the investigation was important. Nina says, it was. She wanted to uncover everything about Peter, especially his agenda for Maxie. She thought he had one, but everything checked out, except for a few blips. He had no permanent address, and the only information was on his resume, but it checked out. Sam says he could possibly be hiding something, but Nina says there are lots of reasons to cover a past. If it hadn’t been so public, she might want to do the same. He’s no longer suspect; not enough to alienate Maxie anyway. She likes him being around him, and talking to him. Sam understands. When Jason disappeared, she did the same thing. It was easier to be around people who didn’t know him. Nina thinks Maxie felt that way about her. She didn’t understand at the time, but gets it now. Nina tears up, saying it’s easier to lean on somebody whose heart isn’t broken as well. She hired Curtis, but the only thing he found was this. She shows Sam the scrapbook stuff, saying Peter made it for her and Maxie. Sam asks how Peter got access to Nathan’s personal memorabilia, and Nina explains that he contacted her mother and Obrecht. She thinks made it more for Maxie than her. It turns out that he’s just really a thoughtful guy.

Jason tells Drew that he’s not apologizing for coming back and living his life, but that doesn’t mean Drew can’t live his. Drew says he doesn’t know anything real before 2014, but he feels like he was there with Jason. He remembers how cold and dark it was after Faison shot him. He doesn’t want Jason’s baggage, but got it. Jason says Henrik is still out there, and might have the key to getting his memories back.

Valentin tells Peter that Anna is a beloved figure in Port Charles, surrounded family and friends. She’s as brilliant as Jason is relentless. There’s no way he can find that’s good enough to get them both. Jason will have questions. Jason killed Peter’s father for him. Peter asks if Valentin thinks that was an accident. He set the whole thing up. He knew one day he could point Jason in Faison’s direction and turn him loose. It worked as planned. Valentin isn’t the only one with a gift for logistics. Peter knows how it works. Valentin asks, does he?

Sam comes by Peter’s office. Valentin apologizes for the intrusion and leaves. Peter asks how Sam’s trip was, and she says, too short. He says he’s glad she stopped by again. He’d heard she came to his office when he wasn’t there, and is glad she caught him this time.

Lulu is having second thoughts about keeping Dante in the dark, but Anna says Henrik isn’t charged with anything. Dante will still insist on getting involved. Lulu says she’ll keep it quiet, but eventually come clean. Ever since she started working as a reporter, she’s been tripping over the same question. When is it okay to withhold information? He has a badge to hide behind. Anna thinks she’ll come through it okay.

Maxie visits Nina, who says she wanted to see her. Maxie asks if she’s in trouble, and if Erica Kane called about her. Nina asks why she would. Maxie says she drives a hard bargain, but Erica is a great person. Nina says Maxie isn’t in trouble, and Erica didn’t call. She wanted to show Maxie this. She indicates the scrapbook, and says Peter put it together for them.

Olivia says it’s a ton of money, but Alexis says not enough to rebuild the city. Ned says it’s enough to begin. Olivia reads that it was executed by Steven Blake, and Franco says he has control now that Jim is gone. Alexis says she’s stunned, but even more that it ended up in Franco’s lap. He says Steve had no idea what was going on, and when he found out, he wanted to compensate the people of Port Charles. Alexis asks why give it to him, and Franco says Steve wants nothing to do with Jim, but wants to compensate the people who were hurt because of his actions. Olivia says it’s a generous gesture, and Ned says they dodged a bullet. Alexis says, thanks to Franco, but Franco says Steve deserves the credit.

Nina tries to read a school paper Nathan wrote about her, and gets choked up. He says she’s a natty dresser, never yells at him, and he loves her. She says she’s framing it. Maxie says, see? Peter isn’t such a bad guy after all. Valentin eavesdrops, and does not look happy.

Anna tells Lulu the emails seem to be authentic. She can email Henrik for Lulu, but Lulu doesn’t want him to think he’s been duped. She’s worried he’ll shut down. She’ll email both of them, and let Anna know what happens. Anna asks her not to do anything else; she has to brief the WSB. Lulu is glad to be working with someone she can trust. Anna leaves, and looks at a copy of the emails on her phone in the hallway. Valentin calls her, and says he needs to see her. She says she’s not available, but he tells her it’s important and he can’t talk about it over the phone. She says she’s too busy right now, but they’ll catch up soon. She promises.

Sam says she did come looking for Peter, but he was in a meeting. Peter says she should feel lucky she missed it. He asks about the trip, and she tells him she went to Switzerland, asking if he’s ever been to Bern. He says several times, when he was working in Europe. Now, back to reality. He asks if she wanted anything specific. She says she came to his office to tell him she was leaving the company. He thinks that might make it easier for Drew, but she says she changed her mind. He asks if she’s not leaving, and she says he seems disappointed. Is there a reason he wants to get rid of her?

Jason says the bank manager was sure he saw a flash drive in one of the envelopes. Henrik paid someone to get them and deliver them to a drop site. Henrik has the flash drive, so if they find him, Drew has a chance of getting his memories back. Drew tells him to do what he has to. He’s tired of his fate being in someone else’s hands. He’s going to get what he needs his way. Jason tells him to do that.

Tomorrow, Oscar needs to tell Drew something, Julian tells Kim not to get in the middle, and Ava asks Nelle what’s in store for Carly.

Kathryn says he was a sh*tty father; she did what she could. Jim points out that she delegated everything she could, so she didn’t have to do anything herself. When was she there? She says more than he was. Jim says he was attentive the first year. Kathryn says the only thing he was attentive to was skirts, but he wasn’t the only horse in her stable. He still isn’t. He says admit it; they screwed up. She says he screwed up. He says, yes, and now they’re paying for it. She says for what he did, and he says, always blame Jim; he can handle it. She asks if he got the money, and he says he will tomorrow. Right now, he’s going to bed. She says he’s not staying there, but he goes upstairs anyway. She says it’s her house, and follows him.

Hanna says goodnight, and Benny follows her to the kitchen. He says Melissa can’t stay there; they don’t know her. Hanna says he’s sleeping with her. She might be his mama, but she’s a woman and knows what he’s doing. He says it just kind of happened, but she can’t stay here. Hanna says that’s his problem, not hers; deal with it. He says she can stay the night, but then he’ll take her to a hotel. He tells Melissa he’ll see her to her room.

In bed, David answers the phone. He thanks them for returning his call about his son. He says, tomorrow? and thanks them. They have no idea how much it means to him, and he’s sincerely in their debt. Erica asks if it’s good news, and he apologizes for waking her. It’s about his son. The judge is going to get him bail. She says his mother is something else, and David says everything is going to be all right. Erica says he’s saying that with worry, but he says, no, conviction. He takes her hand, and says he likes having her there. She loves being there. I’m not sure why, since he’s never there and there’s no TV, reading material, or even furniture. She says he’s something else. He’s nice, caring, and really great in bed. It makes her wonder what’s he doing with Veronica, and he says it wasn’t always like that. She says it doesn’t come out of nowhere. David supposes there were signs all along, but he explained them away. Erica asks if still loves Veronica, and he supposes in a way, but doesn’t want to be with her. No way will he ever be with her again; he’s positive. Erica says, good, because she wants to tell him something. It’s a a little soon, but she’s never met anyone like him or been treated like he treats her. He’s so attentive and makes her feel special. She’s falling for him. He says he’s falling for her too. She moves something inside of him; something good in his soul. They get busy.

Justin comes back to the cell, and calls Jeffrey. He tells Jeffrey that he’s free to go. He cuffs Jeffrey, saying he’s not free until he walks out. Jeffrey says that guy is going to press charges, and Justin says he’ll press something. The guy said he’s pretty good. He asks if he’s making Jeffrey jealous, and Jeffrey says Justin disgusts him. Justin says he’s detecting anger, and Jeffrey says he told him that he’s free; just get him out or take him back to his cell. Justin thinks Jeffrey is jealous, and Jeffrey tells him, go to hell. Justin says Jeffrey is allowed to have his friend, and Jeffrey says that’s all he is – a friend. Justin says he has one too. Jeffrey says that’s not a friend; it’s a crime he committed. Justin thinks it’s cute that Jeffrey is jealous, and Jeffrey says, pretty soon, they’ll be trading places. Justin doubts it, and tells him he’s not really free to go. Jeffrey asks why he’s doing this, and Justin says he has a big appetite. Jeffrey doesn’t want to hear it. Justin tells him not to lie to himself; he’s jealous. Jeffrey says Justin is the one lying to himself. If he’s not free, take him back to his cell, and get out of his face. Justin says the only place he’s taking Jeffrey is the interrogation room, but Jeffrey says he’s not going with him. Justin says it would take him a while to get it up again anyway; he’ll take him back.

Rocky tells his relief bartender that he’s late. He’s trying to show him the ropes. He knows the job pays sh*t, but it’s the hustle that pays. He has to be on time. He tells the dude to get to work.

At the Iron Bone bar, the drug dealer notes Wyatt is back again, and asks if he did it all. Wyatt says no, and the dealer says he was wondering how Wyatt was standing. Wyatt asks if has any more, and the dealer asks if Wyatt is setting him up. Wyatt says, no, and he asks why Wyatt is back so soon then. Bartender Jerry brings out a baseball bat. The dealer asks what’s going on, and what Wyatt isn’t telling him. Wyatt admits his dad poured it down the sink. We all laugh. He says is dad doesn’t want him using. The dealer asks if he’s got money, and Wyatt says he’s a little behind. The dealer says, get out, but Wyatt says they’ve got an ATM, and he can give him the money after midnight. The dealer tells him to come back when he has it, but Wyatt says he’ll just drink until midnight. He asks for a whiskey. Jerry says he’s in bad shape and tells the dealer to give it to him. He can tell Wyatt has money by his car keys. The dealer says Wyatt is in luck, but if he doesn’t get his money, he’ll kill him. Wyatt says he’ll get it, and the dealer says, yes, he will.

Candace tries to wake Oscar up. Nothing happens, except foam trickles from his mouth.

Next time, Veronica tells Benny she’s going to get back at him, Wyatt can’t get the money, and Candace has a situation.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – The Reunion Part Three

Jumping right in, Andy asks LVP when the decision to not use Dorit’s photos was made. She’d said it was the day before the magazine went to press, but from the photo shoot clip, it looks like it was the month before. Why wasn’t she up front? LVP says they shot the new photos the month before, but didn’t know if they’d like them. Dorit asks if LVP was looking to punish her, but LVP says Dorit didn’t like them. Erika says she thinks LVP felt like Dorit was an a-hole, so she’ll be another a-hole and cut off her head. Kyle says, off with her head. Andy says it wasn’t a mistake, and LVP says she didn’t personally edit the photos. Dorit feels like LVP could have told her about it sooner. She doesn’t believe it was a few days before, because of them having another photo shoot. Andy says it looked like LVP was making the decision right then. LVP says the fashion director makes those decisions. Dorit says she could override it, but LVP says she didn’t care. LisaR asks why she didn’t use the photos anyway. LVP says Mark (the photographer) was adamant about not wanting the negativity. Erika says they’re still the same images, just without Dorit’s head. I’m totally bored with this topic, and LisaR asks why not use the other model? LVP says, damned if you do, and damned if you don’t; you can’t win with this group. Erika says they all feel the same way. Andy asks if the issue is out, and LVP asks if he wants a copy

Andy brings up LisaR saying that Teddi was a newer, younger version of Dorit for LVP. Lisa says Teddi better mind her Ps and Qs. This started me thinking, what does that mean anyway, so definition below. LVP says Teddi is a few years older than her daughter, and jokes about the rest of these old bags. Andy asks if LVP likes it that Dorit is jealous of Teddi. LVP says they had a temporary demise of their friendship. LisaR thinks it’s not that big of a deal, but LVP says, at the time, her feelings were hurt. Kyle says they’re newer friends, and she told Dorit to say something after she’d talked behind LVP’s back. LVP says Dorit talks so much, she forgets the accuracy of her recollection. LisaR says Kyle got on her case when she wasn’t accurate, and we flash back to that. LVP says they all have different standards.

Next is Berlin or bust, and we revisit the trip. Pandas! Andy says their visit to the Holocaust museum was quite touching. He asks Dorit if both of her parents are Jewish. She says they are, and Andy says going there must have been meaningful. Dorit says it’s difficult; she did lose a lot of family. Kyle converted to Judaism for Mauricio, and Andy asks how the war affected his family. Kyle doesn’t know much, and says his family moved to Mexico (which I find really interesting), and that everyone lost family.

We see LisaR’s scary moment on the horse. She says when you can’t stop something moving, it’s scary, and thank God for Teddi. Andy asks Kyle why go riding when she’s allergic, and she says she never had an anaphylactic reaction before. Some German guy she didn’t know was giving her she didn’t know what, and she started to panic. Andy talks about Erika almost getting creamed by a cyclist when she was late for the boat, and we see a clip of that. I love how Erika doesn’t even bat an eye. She’d make a good New Yorker. Erika says she started the day late, and it kept snowballing. Andy asks why it was upsetting to LVP that Kyle forgot who Nanny Kay was. LVP says Nanny Kay lived with her off and on for twenty-five years, and was like her mother. Erika remembers. Kyle says it’s no indication of her love for LVP. LVP says to be frank, most of their conversations are about Kyle – because she has anxiety, hypochondria, and family dynamics going on – even though Kyle had said it was all about LVP when they were at the dinner with Dorit. LVP says she feels like an older sister, whose job is to counsel her and calm her down. Kyle says she’s more open in sharing, and LVP says she has her knickers in a permanent twist. Andy asks why LisaR is getting a kick out of this, and she says it’s because she’s not involved. Andy asks LisaR if LVP likes it when Kyle is vulnerable. LisaR thinks the dynamic is that LVP takes care of Kyle, but it’s more complicated and deeper than it seems. Andy asks if LVP really feels that it’s all about Kyle, and Kyle says this is new. LVP says a lot of the time, she’s like the matriarch, talking her down off the ledge. Kyle says if she really thought the friendship only revolved around LVP, she wouldn’t be happy with it. She apologizes for what she said at the dinner.

Andy tells us to be careful what we wish for. Success is not always award winning. Kyle’s American Woman show is discussed. Kyle doesn’t think her sisters understood the project, and that it’s inspired by, but not their life. We see a clip of her telling Dorit that she’s not always invited to Christmas. Wow. I missed that the first time around. That’s terrible. She says for years, Mauricio worked for her brother-in-law, and then went on his own. It didn’t go well with the family dynamic, and complicated things. She loves her sisters, but it’s complicated (the word of the night). She tells Andy the show will be premiering this summer. He asks if her sisters have seen it, but she says, not yet. She’s looking forward to them seeing it. Andy asks if the issue is that they think it’s their story to tell, and Kyle says it’s not exactly like their life. There’s creative license, and it’s inspired by, not based on. They think it’s more literal, but she would never take the liberty of telling someone else’s story. Andy asks if she’s speaking with (her sister) Kathy, and she says they haven’t spoken in six months. She thinks when Kathy sees it, she’ll realize she’s been reading the situation wrong. She’s told her that a single mom in the 70s was only the jumping off point. Kyle thinks started with Mauricio leaving and starting his own company. LVP thinks if her mom was alive, the cohesion would pull them together. She met with Kathy the night before, and she said the same thing. Kyle doesn’t like talking about her sisters, since they’re not part of the show, and thinks it’s unfair. She starts to cry, and says she feels like she couldn’t share everything with them. Her husband is supportive, but it’s not the same. Andy asks about another new show she has going on, called Glass Houses, about a woman who challenges the dominance of another woman in real estate. He asks if it’s similar to Mauricio’s situation, and Kyle says it has nothing to do with real life. He asks if she thought she might be tempting fate and pissing off Kathy. Kyle says Kathy didn’t like this show either, but she’d never throw anyone in her family under the bus. Dorit says family means everything to Kyle. Kyle says she adores Dorit.

Andy moves on to cool girls and crybabies, a tumultuous summer with Teddi. We flash back to the friction between Erika and Teddi. A viewer asks if Teddi was calling Erika a liar or just used the wrong words. Teddi say it was a flippant comment, and she really didn’t think about it. Erika asks why challenge her integrity? Teddi says she was frustrated, and reacted strongly to her. Erika points out that Dorit hammered Teddi for weeks, and they had it out, but if she shows strength, it’s different. Teddi says Erika talks down to her, and she’s never been spoken to like that. Erika says it has to do with her then. Teddi says maybe in her world people talk that way. Erika says Teddi is sophisticated and well-traveled, and Teddi asks if she thinks sophisticated people scream at each other. Erika says she wasn’t screaming, and why call her a liar? Teddi says Erika didn’t have to get involved in the conversation. Erika thinks Teddi is stronger and more calculating than she lets on. Teddi says she never called herself innocent, but Erika says she thinks of herself like a fawn among sharks. She needs to grow up or GTFO.

Teddi says that talking down to someone isn’t empowering, and she doesn’t need to rise up to say something she’ll regret. LVP says if Erika spoke to her that way, she’d be upset. Erika insists she’s not aggressive. LisaR brings up Kyle ambushing her in front of a group when she didn’t remember saying something. We flash back to LisaR saying Kim is at death’s door, and Kyle confronting her later. LisaR says Kyle could have talked to her alone; it was traumatic. Kyle asks if she didn’t say it, and LisaR says, yes, but she didn’t remember saying it. Andy asks if Erika is too harsh or Teddi too sensitive. Kyle says she thinks Teddi felt that she wasn’t being treated as an equal. A viewer asks if Erika’s glam squad was waiting at the hotel when she left the beach house, and Erika says she took a shower and went to bed. LisaR doesn’t understand why anyone gives a sh*t. Erika says it wasn’t personal. Andy says a lot of viewers pinged on her for pushing Teddi away when Teddi tried to hug her. Erika says it’s embarrassing to have to explain herself to other women. LVP thinks when Erika is vulnerable, she doesn’t want to draw attention to it, which isn’t necessarily a negative. A viewer thinks Erika is suffering from PTSD, and Erika wonders where it would have come from. LisaR says at least she’s not a schizophrenic. Teddi thinks it’s intentional, and Erika knows what she’s doing.

Andy brings up Teddi’s blog, and how some of her tweets about Erika were retweeted. Erika says she didn’t appreciated being called Regina from Mean Girls, and it went on week after week. Teddi says, cathartically, she needed to, and says Erika liked some things that suggested Teddi be fired. Erika says she did it because Teddi’s blog was so scathing, saying she had no character and no real friendships, when she doesn’t know anything about her. LisaR says they’re both hurt, and that’s where it stems from. Teddi says the other women have been doing this for a long time and didn’t treat her that way, but she’s not pretending to be fault free. Erika says rude to everyone. There you go; join the club. Andy asks if Erika really scares the sh*t out of Teddi, and Teddi says she doesn’t like the uncertainty. She doesn’t know what she’s going to get; a lashing or an empowerment speech. Kyle says it’s hard coming into group like this. I’ll bet.

Andy says Erika describes herself as a-hole, which is a big admission. He asks if it’s something she wants to work on or change. Erika says with certain audiences, her responses have to be tailored, and in some places, she’s not an a-hole. Andy can’t tell if she’s taking ownership over her behavior in saying it’s Teddi’s problem. She does feel like throughout the season, it was more Teddi. Teddi say as long as they can have mutual respect, she’ll go with whatever she’s given.

Andy asks if it’s what Teddi expected, and she says she had no expectations. There were hard and good times, and she’s leaving more educated. He asks if LisaR thinks the old Rinna will rise from the ashes or will she continue being Yoda Rinna. Erika says she might come out if properly motivated, and LVP says she can’t keep it up forever. He says Dorit had a hard season, and asks if she has any regrets. Dorit says when she watches it back, she wishes she’d handled some things differently. There were apologies she didn’t make, and should have accepted others sooner. She learned about herself. Andy asks where she and Teddi go from here, and they agree there’s more work to do. He asks Erika what’s next, and she says the future looks good. He asks about her and Teddi, and Erika thinks they’ve put this season to bed. She knows Teddi communicates differently. Erika hears her, but they needed to have it out. Teddi says it felt like the right way. Kyle says she expects a lot from her friends, but she thinks she and Dorit will be fine. LVP says it was an extraordinary experience, and they were challenged in the public arena. She’s learned from Kyle to be more open, and not so guarded and British. She looks at Kyle like the sister she didn’t have. She feels Dorit was largely misunderstood, but the audience should give her another chance. She has a good heart, and is kind and supportive.

Andy calls for champagne in steins, but has a champagne glass for Dorit. Why not throw a pair of panties at Erika while he’s at it? Kyle toasts to supporting one another, working through their issues, and knowing each other better.

And we’re out.

May 6, 2018 – Burying Nick, a Variety of Rambling & Creepiness

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Fear the Walking Dead

Everyone is stunned about Nick. Al has videoed the aftermath. We see Luci make sure Nick doesn’t come back by stabbing him in the head, Alicia re-killing Ennis more viciously (somehow, he got rid of the deer head he was impaled on), and Victor covers Nick up. In the van, Victor tells Al, let’s get this over with. Al says it can wait until he’s buried, but Victor says that was the deal. She asks how he ended up there, and he tells her that’s a big question. She says sometimes those are easier to answer. Luci says they could have stopped this from happening.

It’s another one of those back-and-forth episodes. Luci watches a guy, who looks like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror, bring some supplies to the Vultures. Charlie laughs with Ennis. She explains to Al that they had to stretch rations with cattle feed. Victor says it’s an acquired taste.

At the stadium, Victor offers to garnish lunch with maple syrup, and Alicia tells him to save it for the pancakes. He says, for when things get better, and they will. Madison says it’s time to be creative. The need to find places their friends in the parking lot haven’t hit, like maybe a bowling alley.

Victor says it was their first misstep, going on runs that day.

Victor and Cole walk through a greenhouse. Cole says he went to A&M University, and knows which plants are safe to eat. He encourages Victor to tell him something about himself, and Victor says he didn’t go to A&M. They find something edible, and look for a cart. Cole asks how long Victor is going to act like he’s afraid of him. Victor says that’s not the case.

Al asks if he was afraid of Cole, and Victor says, of course not. He says they’re supposed to be talking about Nick, and Al says they’re talking about him.

Cole and Victor fight off zombies in the greenhouse. Cactus zombies. They have quills sticking out of them all over. One gets Cole down. Victor pikes it in the head and helps him up.

Nick takes Luci to a nearby library. His mother once brought him there, and he thinks it’s a sign. Luci says she went with him because Nick thought it would be good for her.

Inside the library, Nick whistles. It’s empty because zombies don’t read. He takes a poster down off the wall, and Luci asks why they’re here. Nick tells her that people need a reason to stick around, and not just food. She says there’s nothing left, but he thinks there has to be something. Luci says it’s about her, referring to Charlie. Nick says she thinks they’re looking out for her and they’re family. Luci says she thought Colonia was a good place to be, but it wasn’t. He helped her.

Al says, but he couldn’t help Charlie. Luci says, she killed Nick. What do you think?

John tells Morgan he used to be a police officer. He knew a guy who drank a bottle of rye every night. One night he survived a close call. A guy stole a garbage truck, and it ended up squashing his patrol car. He went a week without touching rye. John says it takes more than a week to change someone. He thinks Morgan will be on his way after Nick is buried. John is going to find Laura, and wants Morgan with him. He wants them to meet. Morgan just wants to see Nick buried, and he’ll be on his way. He’s better on his own.

Al says they can stop if it’s too much; Alicia’s brother died. Alicia says, yeah, he did.

Alicia and Naomi go to a small waterpark. Naomi sees a van she thinks they should take back, pointing out that it even has a tape deck. She looks for keys, but finds nothing. They head into the park, which looks like something from Abandoned, but with dead bodies all over. A zombie stumbles out, and Alicia stabs its head. Another follows, and Naomi takes care of that one. Naomi says whoever camped here moved to higher ground when the fence came down, showing Alicia a site on a platform at the top of the waterslide. The stairs are barricaded, but Alicia says they can get up there from the slide. They look at the zombies wandering around in the water.

Victor says he wanted to do the right thing in the car. Cole tells Victor that if he doesn’t like him, just tell him. Victor says he does like him. Cole asks why he won’t share information about himself then, and Victor says he doesn’t want Cole to know him. He’s done dumb things, and keeps this to remind him not to be that man. He hands Cole what we both agree looks like a piece of a rock. Victor says, it’s not.

Al asks if going on run brought them closer together, and Alicia says, of course it did. They were the only ones still breathing. She and Naomi wade through the pool, and the zombies. Naomi tries to get up the slide, but keeps slipping back down. Alicia gives her a boost, and tries to follow, but she slips and loses her knife. As they struggle to get up the slide, there’s a terrific crane shot showing the cluster of zombies, grappling at the bottom.

They carefully make their way up. It would really suck to get all that way and slide back down into a mess of zombies. They look at the stuff left behind, and Alicia thinks there’s still some ammo. A zombie toddles out, startling them. They struggle with it, and Naomi falls down to a bowl-like attachment on the slide. I’m guessing you could once slide through it, but now there’s a clog of zombies caked in slime in the opening. Naomi kicks at them, but one is particularly aggressive. Alicia slides down, having grabbed a pipe that was part of the slide. She knocks the zombie in the head, and it slides back down into the clog. I have to admit, I made noises out loud throughout this whole scene.

Al asks when she sharpened it. Alicia says that came later.

Back at the top, Alicia and Naomi go through the stuff. Naomi finds the keys to the van, but says nothing. There’s a trunk of medical supplies, and Naomi tells Alicia to take as much as she can. Naomi gives Alicia binoculars, and suggests she look for what hasn’t been picked over. Alicia thinks there’s a possibility, but when she turns around, Naomi is gone.

Al asks, what happened? Did she run? Victor says, they’re all running.

Victor and Cole go to a parking lot. Cole asks where the hell they are. Victor opens the hatchback of a car, and says, when the crops failed, he gathered things. Cole asks why Victor is showing him. Victor says there’s enough room for two. Cole tells him that people are hungry. Victor says the supplies would maybe feed them for a day; it wouldn’t make a difference. Cole says makes a difference between them making it for another day or not. Victor says so could this. Before, he did things where people got hurt or died. He learned self-preservation. He says famine is on the horizon, and he did it to ensure he survived. He wants Cole to know this is him. Cole shakes his head. He can’t do it. Victor says he didn’t think so. Cole says he’ll drive himself back.

Al asks if he left, and if Victor thinks it’s his fault. Alicia says, it’s not his fault. He wasn’t the only one who thought about leaving.

Naomi starts the car. It chugs to a stop because there’s no gas in it. I’m not even going to say it. Yes, I am. You’d think she’d have checked that first thing. She sure made a good guess those were the right car keys. Alicia is there, and says that’s the second time she ran out since they’ve met. Naomi doesn’t have to tell them anything, but she’s either with them, trying to keep it going, or not. Naomi says she can’t try to keep this going. Alicia tells her that she said the same thing once. She went off on her own; no one could talk her out of it, but wasn’t what she wanted it to be. Maybe she’ll realize that too. Alicia says she’ll go with her to get some gas.

Al asks if Luci thought about leaving. Luci says they all did.

Luci tells Nick that they have to go. He says there could be something there for her. He looks around in the back, and we hear zombie noises. A trail of books leads to a zombie who’s tied up, so it can’t escape. Nick puts it out of its misery, and sees that its wrists are slit. Luci sees a book of maps. Luci say she doesn’t want to end up like that. Nick tells her they know what’s wrong, and they’re going to try and fix it. She says what if they find a new place? Start over. He asks, where, and she hands him the book. She says the first place they open to.

Al asks Luci, what page did it open to? It’s the reason she’s sitting here, isn’t it? Luci says she should have never opened the book.

Madison looks through binoculars at the Vultures. Mel waves and holds up a radio. She gets on hers, and asks if he needs help. He asks if they have relish. She goes down to the parking lot, but I don’t see her bringing any relish. He says they’ve finished it, haven’t they? And the ketchup and mustard. Condiments are the first things to go, in trying to dress up things they don’t want to eat. The dressing up part is true even in real life. I remember putting Italian dressing on green beans and ketchup on mac and cheese at lunch in high school. Mel is cooking hotdogs. He asks where she’s sending people, and she says, why? So they can beat them there? She doesn’t think so. He says every time she sends someone out, they might not come back. Madison says they will; she knows her people.

Mel says before he lived on the bus, he lived like them, in a settlement; his family’s cattle ranch in hill country. It was a nice place to be, but then wildfires kicked up. Madison knows where he’s going. She says, he’s smart, and saw what was coming. He tried to warn everyone, but they wouldn’t listen. So he and his brother left before the fires hit. She says she’s sorry about the rest of his family. Mel says, people are stubborn creatures. He asks if she’d like a weenie, but she’s good. He says if she didn’t come out for food or company, what is she doing there? She says her offer still stands. If they want relish, they could scrounge some up from the concession stand. They can make a go of it, if they work together. He asks if she believes that. She does, and he says that’s why the place is going to fall. His offer also stands. She turns to leave, and he says she was wrong about his story. He told them that they could save the place, and they listened. He and Ennis were the only ones who made it out alive. They could hear them scream as they drove off. Madison walks away.

Al says that’s why it’s so important. They gave up on the stadium.

In the library, Luci flips open the book.

Victor sits in his car.

Naomi tells Alicia that she was a nurse. After a while, she could tell who would make it and who wouldn’t. She says the stadium won’t last. They have to think about where they’re going next. Alicia says she’ll talk to Madison.

Victor says Al thinks she knows what happened that day, but she’s wrong.

Cole drives up to the stadium, and Madison asks if Victor is okay. Victor drives in behind him. Al asks why he came back, and Victor says he got a reminder of what he stood to lose. He looks at the syrup. Al asks what people thought when they found out about his escape hatch. Madison sees all the supplies, and says it looks like they got a break. Victor tells Al that he didn’t tell them the truth. Al asks Luci what page it opened to.

Luci says they’re going north. Nick asks what if there’s another way of looking at this. They bring the book to Madison. Nick asks what if they went further to scavenge than they have before. Madison says they can’t go that far every time, but he says they only need to go once. He tells her they can get seeds and fertilizer. They can replant, and turn the place back into what it was. Madison says okay, because she’s coming from a place of yes this season.

A tear rolls down Luci’s face.

Alicia tells Madison they have to talk. Al asks if Alicia told her about Naomi.

Alicia knocks on Naomi’s car window as she’s starting to leave. She asks if they ever lived when Naomi thought they were going to die. Naomi tells Alicia to let her do the talking, and Alicia gets in, saying, nice wheels. At the stadium, Naomi says if they’re going to make it work, things will get worse before they get better. She’s going to set up an infirmary.

Alicia says instead of fighting to change everything, she should have told them to leave. Luci says they should have found somewhere else. Victor says he wanted to be a better person, that’s why he’s dead. Luci says they could have stopped it all. Al puts down the camera.

Al stops the van, and they get out. Victor says, this is it. They dig, and John asks, why here? Alicia asks what difference it makes to him, and he says he just wants to know. They continue to dig, and dig up a cache of guns. Al says it’s not about Nick. They’re going after the rest of them, even after what happened to Nick. Alicia says it’s what he would have wanted. Al says answers only matter if they’re true. Alicia says it was the truth, and Al says it was served between two slices of bullsh*t. She tells them good luck without her. Victor says they know where the Vultures are meeting up next, and Al says, they needed a ride. John says she’s been snookered. She asks if they’re really going to lug all this, and Alicia says unless she takes them. John says his seems to be the only story that doesn’t end with someone getting hurt or killed. Victor says if Al wants to know how it ends, come see for herself, and Al tells them to load up the van. Morgan asks Alicia if they’re still planning on burying her brother or are they leaving him on the side of the road? Alicia says they’ll bury him there. Morgan says, he liked growing things, right?

In a spot near a beautiful tree, Victor puts the last dirt on the grave. Luci kneels down and touches it. Morgan leaves a bluebonnet.

As they’re packing the truck, John asks where they got some of it. Alicia says it’s just stuff they’ve picked up along the way. He asks for a knapsack, saying it belonged to Laura.

At the stadium, Naomi asks Alicia for a second alone. She takes out a gun that matches John’s.

John takes out the gun. He says, her name was Naomi. She never told him her real name. He asks where she is, and Alicia says she didn’t make it out of the stadium. Things went wrong. He guesses that trip is off, and asks what happened. Alicia says, she’s dead, and he says that’s not true. She’s out there; she’s gotta be. Victor says, there’s the rub, his story did end up with someone getting hurt. Alicia says they did this. Come with them. John asks them to let him be. Al approaches him. She says she’ll find out what happened, and come back for him. Morgan tells them to go; he’ll stay behind. They drive off. Morgan tells John that he’s sorry. John says he was right. We’re always on our own.

Next time, John and Naomi’s story.

👌 I love the Morgan/John pairing. I have more feels for these characters than the ones on Walking Dead. They just seem more well-rounded. Although I probably enjoy Talking Dead most of all. It’s like the day after a convention (sci/fi, horror, Star Trek, whatever, take your pick), when you rehash everything and look over all the crap you bought.

🏯 I’m not really watching Into the Badlands, although it might be one of those things I consume in one bite On Demand someday. I did glance at it though, and it looks awesome. Like a Quentin Tarantino film, but more colorful. The fight scenes are unbelievable – chicks with swords! – and I’ll bet a lot of the actors go home bruised and sore.

🍷 I didn’t really take in too much of The Real Housewives of Potomac tonight, but there was a stand-out quote, brought to us by Candiace: I think I like her better drunk. I don’t know who she was referring to, but I thought of how well it could apply to anyone in the franchise saying it about anyone else in the franchise.

🐎 Was that Walking Dead’s Simon I saw on Westworld?

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Jason needs Spinelli to go through the book again, to see if anything leads to Henrik’s mother.

Robert asks Anna to tell him again why it’s a good idea to involve Jason. He tells he that she’s in trouble. Jason is looking for Henrik’s mother.

Finn has nothing to say to Chase. Alexis tries to intervene, and he tells her it’s none of her business.

Griff asks why Ava didn’t tell him the truth. She asks him to calm down, so they can talk. He says so she can lie to him again. She led him to believe there was a compromise, when she threatened to send a harmless old man to prison so she could get what she wanted.

Sonny tells Carly that he’s not blaming her. He’s angry with himself for not keeping a closer watch on Mike, and relying on everyone else. She says by “everyone else,” he means her.

Sam asks if Jason has heard from Spinelli, and he says he just left Spinelli a message to find clues about Henrik’s mother in the book. She asks if he’s planning on using her as bait to draw Henrik out, and he says unless he finds another option. She tells him Spinelli tracked the wire transfer to ten different accounts, but none of them point to Henrik or his alias. She tells Jason that she had fun in Switzerland. When she got back, she was ready to leave Aurora, but changed her mind.

Alexis apologizes to Finn for overstepping. He says he shared with her and she went behind his back. Chase says it’s an awkward family reunion, and Finn says she misled them both by bringing them there. She says she’s sorry; she had no right, and it was ill-advised. But now that the dam has broken, they might as well talk. She says, see you later; hopefully, Finn will pick up when she calls. Chase asks if Finn wants to hash it out.

Ava tells Griff that she was going to talk to him after things settled down; Lucy showed up, and it wasn’t the right time. He asks how long before she was going to admit using Sonny’s father as a bargaining chip? She tells him she’d do anything to get Avery back, since Sonny kept her daughter from her since she’s been born. He says it sounds like revenge, not parental concern. She talks about how she had to bow and scrape to Sonny, just to get a measly hour. He says two wrongs don’t make a right, and Ava says, how profound. Griff tells her that she knows Mike wasn’t trying to kidnap Avery, but Ava says he shouldn’t have been left alone with her. He says it was an accident, and she says, one that can’t happen again. Against her better judgement, she dropped the charges. Griff says Mike is innocent; it’s just common decency. She asks when they’ve been decent to her. She wouldn’t have gotten shared custody without leverage. She’s sorry her behavior isn’t moral enough for him, but Mike is home, and she has 50% custody, which is 50% more than she had when he wandered off with Avery. She regrets nothing. Griff asks what she would have done if Sonny hadn’t agreed. Send an innocent old man with Alzheimer’s to prison to waste away?

Carly tells Sonny that he didn’t say the words, but made his point. He doesn’t trust her, and thinks she’s unstable and just as confused as Mike. She left Avery with the nanny, and Mike happened to be there. She didn’t blow them off to go to the movies. She agrees that she should have been more careful, but none of them realized how much he’d slipped. Sonny asks if she expected to see Morgan alive when she went to his grave.

Sam says she told Drew she wanted to stay on, and they’ll see how it goes. Jason hopes it works out. She doesn’t want to sit behind a desk, but it will do for now. She tells Jason anytime he needs someone to help infiltrate a bank, call her. He says she’ll be his first call. Sam says, oh, by the way, she and Drew are getting a divorce.

Robert tells Anna that Jason wants to get Henrik out of hiding by using his mom as bait. She says it’s not a terrible plan. Robert says it’s a save bet that Jason will add two and two together, and come up with her. She says only Andre, Robert, and Valentin know about it, and none of them will tell, but Robert says don’t be too sure.

David tells Kiki that one of the opportunities she has is to see how a patient’s health can change over their stay at the hospital. He asks her why he reduced a certain patient’s meds, and she answers correctly. He says she has a knack for general care, and he’s going to request she do another tour. It might seem like nothing, but looks good that she’s been invited back. She says yesterday, he made it clear that she didn’t have what takes. He tells her that he didn’t say that; he reprimanded her. She says afterwards, she was thisclose to dropping out. He asks what changed?

Ava tells Griff that she had Sonny where she wanted. He asks what if he still wouldn’t agree? Would she have had the court throw the book at Mike? She says everyone got what they wanted; no one lost. She tells him not to judge a hypothetical situation. She is mad about something though. How he undermined her case by handing over Mike’s medical files. He says she’s mad at him for doing his job?

Carly tells Sonny the note said to find me where you left me. She wasn’t sure it was from Morgan, but she couldn’t help hoping. Sonny wishes he could wipe away the last two years, but tells Carly that she can’t give in to a fantasy. Carly says it’s a possibility; they never found the body. I have news for her. On a soap, it’s a possibility even if they find the body. Sonny says they found traces, but she says maybe he’s still alive, like Jason. She could smell his cologne, like he’d just been there, but he wasn’t. Sonny admits he would have done the same thing, but would have told her instead of Jason. She says he would have told Jason or Max or Dante, but not her. He confesses he would want to spare her the pain of reliving Morgan’s death. He says he’d want to spare her the hope and paranoia she’s felt since this started. He’s trying to believe her, but how does she explain the note? He wants her to explain how it made her leave Mike with Avery. He thinks there must be a logical explanation, but is starting to doubt it.

Finn assumes Chase is a good detective, and wonders why he’d think Finn wants to continue the conversation. Chase tells Finn that he’d said his beef wasn’t with him. Finn says it’s with their dad. Chase says he knows that their dad remarried quickly after Finn’s mom passed away. Finn says he doesn’t know anything. By the time he born, Finn didn’t want anything to do with their dad – or him. He can’t even look at Chase. Chase asks if it’s because their father remarried.

Carly tells Sonny about the meds Doc prescribed for anxiety, to take the edge off. Sonny thinks meds are great. I’m with him – better living through chemistry! He tells her not to be embarrassed. He’s proud that she went to see Doc. He knows how difficult it is to ask for help, but it’s an important step. Doc will help her sort through what’s real or fantasy. Lucy interrupts, saying she can’t thank Sonny enough for his generous donation. He says, anything for the Nurses’ Ball. Lucy needs to talk to Carly regarding a tiny situation about seating. Carly says they’re in the middle of something, but Sonny says he’ll wait.

Ava says Griff claims to be on her side, but he’s against her. He says if he withheld information, he could lose his medical license. He’s already given up one calling for her. Ooh, bad Griff. She asks what’s that supposed to mean, and he says, nothing. I decide that I don’t care how good-looking he is. If I was Ava, I’d tell him to go practice Relationship 101 on someone else. He says he’s not angry. She says she doesn’t blame him for being a good doctor, or person. She wishes she could tell him to do things differently, but she can’t. She wishes she could live up to the high moral standards he has, but she can’t. The one thing she does regret is not being honest with him. She’s truly sorry, and asks where that leaves them.

Anna tells Robert that Andre would never betray her confidence. Robert says she assumes he won’t, and she thinks it’s a logical assumption. She thinks the box was meant for Helena, and asks if Robert told Jason it was made only six months ago. Robert says no; it’s not like Jason has Bureau clearance. Anna says she has nothing to worry about, and he tells her that lying to herself always bothers her. Talking more to herself, Anna says, Jason is methodical and picks up on slight inconsistencies. He has phenomenal tech support in Spinelli. He’ll pick up on anything she missed. She has to stay one step ahead of Jason – and she knows how.

Sam tells Jason that she and Drew agreed it needs to happen. Scout is still young, and it’s just about paperwork and moving on – whatever that means; she’ll figure it out. She will. She has to. Jason needs to meet Sonny. Sam tells him to say hi to them, and when things settle down, they’ll reconnect. Alexis comes in as Jason is leaving, and sits with Sam. She asks what Sam needs to see her about, and Sam says she needs Alexis to represent her in the divorce.

Lucy apologizes to Carly for what happened last year. She had no idea what Ava was doing with Morgan’s meds, and didn’t mean to withhold information. Carly thanks her for say that. She knew in her heart that he was taking his meds. When she knew for sure, she knew he did everything he could. She’s proud of him. Lucy asks, what wrong? and Carly says, it’s been over a year, but the grief is always there. She thought she was starting to heal. Now she feels like she’s losing her mind.

Jason meets Sonny, and asks how Mike is. Sonny tells him about Mike being charged with kidnapping. Sonny explains how Dante found them in the stalls, and that Mike thought Avery was Courtney. Ava didn’t want to let it go, so he was charged with kidnapping. Leverage was the only way he’d drop full custody. She wanted him to pick between his daughter and father. He called bluff, saying he’d take her to family court, so they agreed to joint custody. Jason knows it must have cost him, but Sonny says the bigger problem is Carly.

Griff tells Ava that he needs to get to work. He says he’ll see her later. Despite her methods, he’s happy Avery is back in her life. He kisses her goodbye. Kind of like the kiss you get after you’ve been married a while.

David asks if Kiki was really going to quit the Shadow Program. She thought maybe he was still mad about what happened. He says he was treating her like a mentor. She says, sorry, but she’s confused. He says he might have bene tough, but that’s because he sees so much potential. He says when you work together, feelings get hurt, things are said, people lose their cool. He’s treating her the way his mentor tested him. He thinks she’s something special. It would be a shame if she left the program.

Sam tells Alexis that she was right. She shouldn’t have rushed into marriage with Drew again. The hardest thing was forcing herself to believe it was going to work out, and her life doesn’t need to be rebuilt. It takes resilience, courage, and honesty. Alexis says she has those. Sam thinks she also has a good attorney.

Sonny tells Jason about how Carly followed an imaginary note that took her to Morgan’s grave. It was on the back of a flyer, but when she showed it to the cop, it was blank. Jason asks where it is now; they’ll have Spinelli check it out. Sonny says there was no writing, like there was no scarf and no intruder. The theory is that it’s something in her head because of her grief for Morgan.

Carly says Lucy will probably think she’s as craxy as Sonny does. Lucy says it’s no secret she believes she’s connected to the spiritual world. Some things send messages and signals. Carly doesn’t think she’s seeing what she wants to keep him with her. Lucy says when our loved ones are gone, they’re not really gone; they’re with us. Lee left his office to her, and she feels his presence; he’s with her there. Their essence becomes part of you. If you believe you can hold on to someone you loved dearly, it doesn’t make you crazy – it makes you human.

Finn asks why Chase is pressing the family thing. Chase says they share DNA. Finn asks if he needs a kidney or something. Chase asks if he’s always this suspicious, and Finn says, this is him on a good day. Chase says family is more than biology. Finn traveled the world to get away; now they’re in the same town. They must have unfinished business. They were born a generation apart, but they’re from the same blood, and were raised by the same man: not a bad place to start. Finn says Chase seems like a good guy. There are reasons he walked away and never looked back. Chase asks if it’s because their father remarried. Finn knows Chase had his heart set on a brother relationship, but he’s got to realize that it’s never going to happen.

Alexis suggests Sam and Drew file under irreconcilable differences. It’s a catch-all for difficult situations, and this one is really difficult. She asks about Scout, and Sam says they don’t want to fight. Alexis says to get it in writing to avoid conflict in the future. Sam says if Drew wants 50% custody, she’ll agree. Aurora can just move forward as planned. Alexis asks why she’s making an excuse to stay at a company she already owns?

Jason wonders why Sonny is assuming Carly is making it up. He went with her to the phone booth. Sonny says she heard an explosion. Was there any evidence of that? There’s no evidence of the scarf, or of an intruder. Jason says they could have had a key, and Sonny says he always defends Carly. Something has changed in the five years he was gone. They lost their son. Jason doesn’t know lost how much she grieved. How much she’s still grieving. Jason gets a call from Anna.

Anna says she needs to see Jason. It’s important. It effects how they move forward regarding Henrik. She says she’s at home, and he tells her that he’s on his way. Robert hopes she knows what she’s doing.

Sam says there are Issues that have to be resolved at Aurora with Drew. She has to be there for the time being, to make sure everything is okay. When that’s done, she’ll sign it over; it’s Drew’s dream. Alexis asks, what about hers? Sam says she’s trying to figure it out; figure her out. She wants to live honestly, and do something she’s good at. She wants to have a goal anyway. Alexis has every confidence she’ll reach it. She’ll contact Drew’s lawyer, and do the preliminary filing. Sam asks how it went with Finn, assuming she hasn’t blown it. Alexis says she’s blown it all to hell.

Chase says Finn couldn’t have been more clear. It’s not what he wanted to hear, but at least Finn is consistent. He thanks Finn for talking, and Finn says he had no choice. Chase tells him to go easy on Alexis; she has a good heart, and seems nice. He’ll see Finn later – or not. He tells Finn to have a good life. Finn says, him too.

David tells Kiki that she did good today. Kiki sees Griff, who says she seems to be doing better. She says she just overreacted. David apologized for berating her. Griff has no idea what she’s talking about. Kiki says David was just in a mood, and she took it personally. He says she seemed to think his attitude stemmed from something that happened between them. She says it was just a test, and she passed.

Griff sees David. David walks away. Griff ponders. He’s almost as good at that as worrying.

Ava puts on lipstick, and sees her old face in the mirror. Then it’s gone.

Sonny is sorry he’s letting Ava have her way, and Carly says it’s the last thing she wanted; she’s sorry. He says she did was she felt was right. He just wishes it hadn’t escalated. He’s happy she’s seeing Doc. They’ll be able to put this behind them, and move forward. He hugs her.

Jason goes to Anna’s house. She asks if he’s turned anything up about Henrik. She heard he’s planning on using Henrik’s mother to draw him out. He says if she’s right about epigraph, how could he pass up the chance? He’s already started looking. She says look no further. Henrik’s mother is right here.

Tomorrow, Franco says all the people on the list have one thing in common, Jason asks if Anna is offering herself as a decoy, and Maxie wonders why Peter would want mementos of Nathan.

The Real Housewives of New York City

Ramona goes shopping to get a latte machine for Avery. In her interview, she says Avery is very focused, sets goals, and makes it happen. Like her. Not unless those things mean she’s irritating. She wants to host a Christmas shopping party at Henri Bendel for the girls. She’s inviting Sonja, even though she’s been alienating the rest of them.

In her interview, Bethenny says Sonja is a leper, and it’s upsetting. Sonja visits her in the apartment under construction. She explains the vision to Sonja, and we all salivate over the massive walk-in closet. I think the closet bigger than my first NYC apartment. Sonja says it was an emotional weekend. She and Ramona are both feeling pain, but Ramona isn’t feeling hers. She says even prison bitches have someone loyal to them. In her interview, Bethenny thinks Sonja doesn’t have good self-esteem, and Ramona uses her for a doormat. Sonja feels hurt that Tinsley is making her out to be a villain. Bethenny tells her to focus on twenty words or less; get it out and step away.

Tinsley meets Carole, who’s shopping for wake-up-cute wear. Tinsley is going to Chicago to try and make things work with Scott, but is feeling excruciating pressure. She saw Carole and Adam together at the marathon, and says they’re totally girlfriend/boyfriend. Carole says they’re not, although they’ve slipped back into a relationship. He’s not interested in seeing someone else, which she would feel it’s a betrayal. Tinsley suggests they’re friends with benefits. Carole googles it, and says, not them.

Bethenny is having her first foray into denim. She’s launching a massive jean line. She’s always been into jeans, and thinks the SkinnyGirl logo would look cute on the backside. I like them. Bethenny says they’re comfortable, but what is she? A minus zero? She gets some photos taken of her wearing them.

LuAnn takes Dorinda to an apartment she’s looking at. She wants something furnished. She likes the Hamptons on the weekends, but has to be in the city during the week. She thinks it’s beautiful, but a lot of apartment. The realtor says if she just wants a central location, she knows someone who might want to rent. She steps away to make a call, and LuAnn says sorry about what happened in the Hamptons. Dorinda goes on about the difference between burying a husband versus divorcing one, and how Sonja doesn’t make her feel positive. LuAnn feels sorry for Sonja, but Dorinda says she’s a rattlesnake. Once bitten, twice shy.

A traveling spa person comes to Tinsley’s hotel room, lights some candles, and massages her hands. That will be five grand, please.

Carole calls LuAnn, who’s late for tea with her. In her interview, Carole says they had a lighter, friendlier relationship in the beginning, but things have changed. LuAnn can’t figure out why, but we flash back to the deterioration of their friendship. Carole doesn’t want to go through another period with uncomfortable energy. She asks if LuAnn is upset about anything, and brings up LuAnn calling Adam a toy boy, but LuAnn says it was just a joke. LuAnn does think Carole could have sent her a message after the divorce. Carole thinks it would have been insincere. LuAnn didn’t feel obligated to send one when she and Adam broke up, but she’s not dwelling on it. LuAnn says they were traveling different roads, and need to get back on the same one. In her interview, LuAnn thinks the tension between them is petty and just wants to live in peace.

There’s a knock at Tinsley’s door. It’s Scott with flowers. She’s shocked, and literally falls to the floor. She hasn’t seen him for two and a half months, and this is the best surprise she’s ever had. He says she should come to Chicago tonight. She says she’s already packed, and as much as she loves shopping, she loves Scott more. She calls Carole, who says she was in on it. She says she’ll let Ramona know Tinsley won’t be there. In her interview, Carole hopes Tinsley is maintaining some mystery. Tinsley was saving some flowers Carole gave her when she and Scott broke up, and asks him if she can throw them away now. I don’t get it, but okay.

Bethenny discusses the hurricane in Puerto Rico with her assistant. She says it’s still a horror show there. She has plans to get cash cards to the people when there are places to shop again. Her assistant asks if she’s proud at the success of her mission to help, and Bethenny says she’s shocked. Dorinda is the one person who asked her about it. Bethenny says you need a strong constitution to deal with it, and thinks Dorinda will get down and dirty.

In her interview, Ramona says the girls will get special discounts at the Henri Bendel event. She insists on redecorating the space, and makes the employees nervous when she starts moving things around. Carole tells her Tinsley isn’t coming because Scott surprised her. She’s going back to Chicago with him.

In the car, Tinsley tells Scott nothing is more important. She calls her mother, and we flash back to her mom giving her advice. She says she thought room service was at the door, but it was Scott. She literally fell on the ground. Her mother asks if he’s coming for Christmas. Her mother babbles about making him a stocking, and how she can include a dog Scott loved, who belonged to another girlfriend. Tinsley is like, no, you won’t be doing that.

Tom’s ex, Missy shows up. Ramona has outdone herself in insensitivity. We flash back to the mess that was Tom and LuAnn. Ramona gushes over Missy. LuAnn slips in, and can’t believe it. She greets Ramona, and says hello to Missy, channeling her Countess self. In her interview. LuAnn says Tom could be coming out from the dressing room before she knows it. Ramona tells Carole it’s a big party, and LuAnn doesn’t see Tom anymore anyway. Carole asks if Sonja is coming, but Ramona doesn’t know. Ramona tells LuAnn that Sonja is confused and irrational. LuAnn says, there’s a disconnect.

And here she comes. Looking pretty good in a black coat with a leopard scarf. Missy introduces some dude named Richard to LuAnn. Carole says it’s nice to see them talking, and Missy says she never had a problem with LuAnn. Carole says, dump the guy keep the girl. Sonja jokes that she doesn’t know if she’s buying or selling. In her interview, Sonja says after the pep talk with Bethenny, she’s going to say less and mean more.

Dorinda arrives. Carole has to go to another engagement. LuAnn leaves Ramona and Sonja alone to talk, but they don’t. Sonja says she’s looking for a vegetable, since she’s not eating meat. She follows that with saying Ramona knows everything about her, and she would never cheat on her husband. But instead of sticking up for her, Ramona told her to apologize. Ramona says people says things when they’re angry. In her interview, Ramona says she didn’t want to share what Sonja had told her in confidence, and she’s a big girl. She tells Sonja that she doesn’t take sides. They’re not in high school, and she can fight her own battles. They start over-talking one another, and cupping their hands near their mouths, like when Ramona screamed, take a Xanax! They’re doing this in Henri Bendel. Sonja says she told Ramona to apologize for a reason. In her interview, Sonja says Ramona slaps a Band-Aid on things, and it doesn’t work that way. She wants to choke Ramona sometimes. Don’t we all.

LuAnn tells Dorinda that Richard invited her out. He asks how Dorinda knows LuAnn, and Dorinda says they were lovers. Ha-ha-ha! Richard backs away, saying he’s getting another drink. LuAnn says Dorinda is the worst wingwoman ever.

Ramona tells Sonja that she’s concerned about her, and will try to be there for her. Sonja says what made dam break was Dorinda saying she didn’t just bury her husband. She brings up Richard once an hour. She feels Dorinda’s pain, but not vice versa. She whines again that Ramona was never there for her, and Ramona says she’s trying to help her. In her interview, Ramona says it’s frustrating. Everyone feels the same way, but on one has the ball to tell Sonja except her.

Ramona runs over to the other girls, saying Sonja is out to lunch. She doesn’t need the aggravation. Dorinda says hey were seconds away from calling 911 at LuAnn’s brunch. Sonja complains to some women we don’t know, that the girls say they don’t see her enough, then criticize her when they do. Ramona suggests LuAnn work on her. In her interview, Bethenny says everyone is thinking therapy, or an exorcism, or a straightjacket, but she thinks Sonja needs a girlfriend.

Sonja says her goodbyes. LuAnn tells Dorinda that Richard is there with Missy. Dorinda wonders if LuAnn has any Italian in her, saying she does, and this would be a problem.

Next time, Bethenny shows Dorinda the warehouse, LuAnn’s daughter tells her that she’s superficial, and Adam goes on a date – and likes her. And as a bonus – Dorinda gets drunk.

🎇 On Star, Ayanna came back to take her father’s place at Midtown. She told Maurice he’d done nothing while she was gone, and told Jahil they’d talk when she’s ready. Carlotta wondered about the women Charles had abused.

The tour group was about to rock NOLA’s gay pride day, when there was a bomb scare. Alex’s mother, Naomi Campbell, showed up. She told Alex how she’d given up her life for a man who’d disrespected her over and over, but she still loved. She said they were all the same, and Noah would cheat on her too. Jackson put the moves on Star, she called him a pig and slapped him, and then they got busy. Afterward, he told her about this track he had and asked if she could run it by Maurice. Star was pretty pissed, thinking he was using her for her connections, and kicked him out. Eventually, she relented, saying she’d pass his tape along, but wouldn’t listen to it personally, because what if the sex was good and the music sucked?

Carlotta realized that Natalie was cutting her out and running game on her. After seeing Natalie coming on to Maurice, Carlotta told him Natalie was just out for herself, and getting kickbacks from the security firm she’d hired. Carlotta punched Maurice in the mouth, and told him to keep that bitch.

When the bomb threat was over, Take 3 and Noah performed at Miss Bruce’s Ball, which was like Studio 54 in the 70s, very disco-ballish. Miss Lawrence proved that she could also carry a tune. Afterwards, Noah came home to who he thought was Alex in bed, but turned out to be Alex’s mother. She’d said she quit drinking, but she was drunk off her ass. No surprise, Alex walked in. Noah said it wasn’t what she thought, and Alex was about to kick her mother to the curb, but she passed out first. Noah and Alex were good, but Alex ended up getting a sportswear gig Noah had wanted. Even though he acted all happy, when no one was looking, he drank from a flask. I don’t think it was Pepsi.

Out on the street, Simone decked Angel, thinking he was someone else. Although they’re never around when you need them, the cops saw, and shook Angel down. Luckily, they didn’t take him to the station, and just told the two of them to keep their fights off the streets. Angel told Simone that he could have been deported, and if she didn’t want to be with him, just say so. She didn’t say anything, so he walked.

Ayanna told GG it was time to speak out about Charles abusing her. GG didn’t want people looking at her like a victim or the label getting flack, but Ayanna said it was bigger than that, and she needed to stop being afraid.

Cotton spent the weekend with her son, AJ, who was having a hard time comprehending that his father was a woman. He said his friends would laugh at him. Cotton understood that he had a picture in his head of what his dad should be, but suggested they make a different picture. Before he could answer, AJ had a seizure.

Queen Latifah ran the wig gamut from a silvery banged shag to a Dorothy Hamill in subtle tones of purple and blue, but Miss Lawrence out-Biebered Justin Bieber with some bodacious side-swept blonde bangs. Next time, Star eclipses Alex, who calls her garbage.

💰 Ryan helped sell hot tubs in the Hamptons on Sell It Like Serhant. Saleswoman Amanda had robotic mannerisms and a general enthusiasm akin to reading the phone book. While she should have been selling ten hot tubs a month, she’d only sold three in the four months she’d been there. In showing her how to sell it, Ryan had potential customers in for a party in the hot tub, but Amanda was a total buzzkill. She reminded me of a scene partner I once had in acting school, who caused me to be stuck in Richard III scene hell for an entire summer. The top seller suggested she literally let her hair down, and put some effort into her appearance. She made the excuse that she was a busy mom. Ryan, who could hear commissions dying in the background, asked to see her closet, and gave her some pointers. He had her talk to strangers, and do some weird vocal exercises, giving me another flashback to something I hated in acting school. Ryan also sprung for a makeover, and although at the next wellness event, Amanda only sold three out of the goal of four, the boss agreed she’d improved enough that he’d keep her on. Next time, Tim, the rental agent.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Alexis wonders why Finn spaced out when she was sharing at the meeting. He says it has nothing to do with her and everything to do with him.

Jordan is having breakfast with Curtis and TJ at Kelly’s. She says she’s the luckiest girl in world, and suggests they not wait for a health scare to do this again. Curtis offers TJ a ride, so they can do some uncle/nephew bonding. When Jordan leaves, Curtis tells TJ that was a smokescreen. He needs to ask him a question about his mother.

Nelle asks why Michael wanted to meet with her. He thanks her for getting through to Ava, but she doesn’t think she had much to do with it. She says, who knows what goes on between Ava and Sonny behind closed doors? My guess would be more animosity.

At the MetroCourt bar, Carly thinks back to Sonny saying he needs her to make an appointment with Doc. She looks at her prescription bottle, and takes a pill. Bobbie suddenly appears, and asks what they’re for.

Griff sits next to Ava at Kelly’s counter. He says it’s not her regular place, but she says it’s near Avery’s school. Avery is going to be spending more time with her from here on out. She tells him, in case any confusion, that’s good news. He hopes she didn’t use Sonny’s father as a condition.

Stella sees Sonny at the hospital, and asks if he got her message; she knows he was dealing with a crisis. He tells her that Avery and Mike are back safe and sound. She knows he’s not the type to talk out his feelings, but as Mike’s illness progresses, he’s going to have more feelings than he knows what to do with. She tells him to call her when he does. She’s glad Mike and Avery were found before anything terrible happened. Sonny says he’s not sure they were.

Finn tells Alexis that he ran into Robert, and he asked about his relationship with Anna. Alexis isn’t surprised, saying those Scorpios look out for each other like hawks. Finn says he’s not used to it, since he has no family. Alexis tells him that’s not true.

At the station, Chase has a headache. Dante suggests he go home and take a break hitting it with fresh eyes in the morning. Chase insists he’s fine, but Jordan tells him to listen to his partner, and get out; that’s an order. Dante says he has a great work ethic, and Chase asks what a Yankee fan would know about that. Jordan and Dante discuss a case, and Jordan spills coffee all over the paperwork. Dante asks if she has something on her mind. Jordan says, marriage.

Carly tells Bobbie that Doc prescribed the pills for anxiety. Sonny suggested she him, but instead of jumping to the conclusion that she’s crazy, he said she’s stressed. No one believes her, and Bobbie doesn’t either. Bobbie says just because everything at the house is fine, doesn’t mean she doesn’t believe what Carly experienced or that it didn’t happen. Carly asks, what if it didn’t? She went to put Sonny’s mind at ease, but she’s questioning herself. She can’t explain the note telling her to go to Morgan’s grave.

Michael says he asked Nelle to convince Ava to compromise. Was it a coincidence that she had a change of heart? Nelle says there was something ugly between them and Avery caught in the middle. It got her thinking about their, baby and how important it is that parents support their child, even if they’re not together.

Ava tells Griff that he’ll be happy to know Mike is a free man; she even spoke on his behalf. Griff was right. Mike has an illness he won’t recover from, and didn’t mean any harm – although it could have happened. She can see he doesn’t belong in prison, but it’s not the most ideal place for Avery, who’s now with her. Griff is shocked. He never thought Sonny would agree to full custody willingly. Ava says she thought about what he said about compassion and empathy; it was an effective speech. She realized if she let Mike off the hook, maybe Sonny would return the favor, and he did. He agreed to share custody.

Stella asks Sonny if they were hurt. He says, no. Mike took Avery wandered off, thinking she was Sonny’s sister who’s been dead for long time. They sit, and Stella explains as the disease progresses, patients find ways to connect the past to the present. Sonny says if he could reopen Luke’s every night, he would, but Stella says it’s not that simple. Sonny asks what to do next, and Stella says there’s only one outcome. As the condition worsens, he’ll be left with the choice to hire professionals around the clock or send Mike away.

Finn says he assumes Alexis is referring to his half-sibling. He barely knows him. Alexis says he’s still related, but Finn says that doesn’t necessarily make him family. She should understand, since she has a half-brother who’s crazy. Alexis says the most diabolical thing about Chase is that he wants to buy Finn coffee. Finn says whatever happens will happen, and whatever doesn’t, won’t, and he can’t believe he said that. Alexis says he can make it up to her by taking her to breakfast. They make plans to meet at the MetroCourt.

TJ wants to stay out of whatever is going on between Curtis and his mom. At the end of the day, he’s related to both of them, so he’s staying out of it. Curtis says he and Jordan are in a real good place. He’s asking her to marry him.

Ava tells Griff that she and Sonny get equal time, and Mike gets to go home; everybody wins. Griff is pleased that she acted with compassion and generosity, and she says what’s right is right. Lucy comes in, and says they’re just the people she wanted to see. She tells Ava how Julian just made a generous contribution to the Nurses’ Ball. Ava says with Julian’s offshore accounts, he can afford to be generous. Lucy says he suggested she’ll do the same, Griff says he has to go, and Lucy hopes he’s getting fitted for his tux, so he can wow everyone on the red carpet. Griff says, anything for her, and leaves. Lucy asks Ava how many zeros they can expect from her?

Sonny asks Stella if she means a nursing home, but she says there are facilities that specialize in caring for his condition. Sonny says he’s not abandoning his father when things get tough. Stella says it’s fine now, but eventually and inevitably, they won’t be. He won’t remember anyone, including himself. Sonny says he can hire people. She says it’s a fortunate position to be in, but it’s not just about money. Having an ailing family member living at home causes stress. Sonny insists he can handle it. She says someone will have to be on call 24/7 to bring Mike to a hospital for emergencies, and there will be. Facilities have everything needed on site. Sonny asks if he won’t still have a good day. Stella says, sometimes, but not everyone is so lucky. It could be just a few good hours or minutes, then it will be gone like it never happened. He tells her about Michael having been in long term care, and how, when he woke up, Sonny wasn’t there. He’ll regret it for the rest of his life. So if he can have a day, an hour, or five minutes, he wants Mike to know he’s there for him. Stella says she’ll put together a list of nurses looking for additional work, and she’ll be keeping Sonny’s family in her prayers.

Carly tells Bobbie that she held the scarf. She thinks whoever pulled the fire alarm, put it in her office and then removed it. Bobbie says that’s one explanation. Carly says Dante traced the calls, so she knows they happened, but then there’s the note. She read it dozens of times, but when she showed it to the detective at the cemetery, it was a blank page.

Nelle says just because they’re not together, doesn’t mean they can’t along; they’re not like Sonny and Ava. Michael says he would never compare Morgan’s death to what Nelle did. Ava made it worse with the cover-ups and lies. Nelle flashes back to putting the note on Carly’s car. She says there’s something she needs to tell him.

Lucy goes to the gallery with Ava. She babbles about Ava’s generosity. Ava says she’s more than happy to contribute, but from the bottom of her heart, she hopes that once she writes the check, Lucy will be on her merry way. Lucy says she’ll be nothing but merry when she gets the check. Ava’s pen won’t work. She reaches into a purse on the chair, and takes out a black marker. Nelle’s?

Curtis tells TJ that he and Jordan managed to work things out. They had a rough patch, but came back stronger than ever; they have a strong foundation. TJ asks where this is coming from. He asks if Curtis is proposing or did already. Curtis says, both. When he thought Jordan was dying, he proposed. When they found out she was okay, she told him that he was off the hook, but he doesn’t want to be. She’s it for him. He doesn’t want to lose the opportunity to commit to her. He knows she’s her own woman, but TJ’s blessing would mean a great deal. TJ just wants them happy. Stella is suddenly standing next to the table, and asks, for what?

At the hospital, Sonny tells Griff that he needs Mike’s records released to a colleague of Patrick’s at Mercy Hospital. He’ll be running the show from now on. Griff asks what brought about the change, and Sonny says it’s best for everyone, since Griff is on team Ava. Griff says he’s on the side of Sonny’s father’s care. He thought Sonny and Ava agreed to compromise. Sonny asks if that’s what she told him.

Ava gives Lucy the check, and says she didn’t even have to blackmail her. Maybe you can catch more flies with honey. Lucy says that would make Ava a fly. Ava says, to think Lucy could have been her stepmother, and Lucy thanks her. Ava says she’s sincerely welcome. Lucy comments that Ava seems to have turned over a new leaf; the hunky doctor is working wonders. She runs down a list of Ava’s crimes, saying from one ex-schemer to another, isn’t it better. Ava rushes Lucy out the door, and Lucy says the doctor doesn’t have that much influence.

Griff tells Sonny that he was under the impression they were considering Avery’s best interests, and compromised. Sonny says Ava threatened to press charges unless she got full custody. Sonny refused, telling her that she’d have to sue in family court. She made a counter offer of joint custody. It was extortion, plain and simple. Griff appreciates hearing Sonny’s side. Sonny says he can forget about sending the records to Mercy; Griff is the best at what he does. He can tell Griff is starting to see Ava for who she is.

Alexis sees Chase at the station, and he asks if she’s keeping his brother out of trouble. She says, so far so good, and asks if he’s acclimated. He says he’s still finding his way around, and asks if she’d care to join him at Kelly’s. She says she would, but thinks he’s in a rut, and suggests they go to the MetroCourt. He thinks it’s too rich for his blood, but she says it’s her treat.

Jordan tells Dante that since she’s in the clear, it made Curtis’s proposal null and void. If she does marry him, she doesn’t want the proposal to go down like that. She doesn’t know if she’s ready for marriage again; she was so young the first time. Dante says it’s not her fault he died. She says she wasn’t mature enough for commitment. She hurt Thomas, and the whole family suffered for it.

Stella joins Curtis and TJ. She says apparently, she walked in on good news. Curtis says it’s best hear it from him. He asked Jordan to marry him. He knows they haven’t been each other’s biggest fans, but he’s seen them be civil, and knows they can work together when things get rough. He loves them both, and asks her to find it in her heart to support him. She’s sorry, but doesn’t think she can.

Alexis and Chase arrive at the MetroCourt. Finn is already there, and asks what’s going on. Chase says he was thinking the same thing. Alexis tells them this might be a good time to unpack the baggage between them.

Curtis knows Stella doesn’t care much for Jordan. She says it has nothing to do with her personal distaste for his brother’s wife. TJ knows it’s awkward, but thinks his father would be grateful for their happiness with each other. Stella says it’s Jordan’s fault they lost him, but Curtis says it’s more complicated than that. He’s not asking for Stella to forgive Jordan. Stella says she has already. She believes in forgiveness, but asking her to welcome Jordan back into the family she destroyed is too much. She’s not a big enough person to do that. Curtis is sorry she feels that way. TJ says he is too. Stella says Curtis is an adult. She won’t stop him, but don’t ask her to be part of it.

Jordan tells Dante that she doesn’t have it in her to screw up another marriage or hurt TJ, Curtis or Stella again. Dante says marriage is tough work, but if you’re willing to put it in, it’s worth it.

Nelle knows Michael wants Jason to be the primary guardian. He’s an important part of the baby’s life, and she’d never get in the way of that, but she was thinking who would care for the baby if something happened to the both of them? Jason is more than capable, but lives a very dangerous life. He was shot and disappeared for five years; who’s say it won’t happen again? Michael says Jason is good at taking care of himself, and would do an excellent job. Nelle feels Michael chose him as a compromise because of the tension between her and his parents. She’s seen Carly with him, Josslyn, and Avery. Despite their differences, she can see Carly is a wonderful mother. Look how he turned out. If the baby is half as strong and kind as him, they’ll be lucky. She’d like to name Carly as primary caregiver just in case.

Bobbie tells Carly even if those things weren’t happening, how much stress has she been under? When was the last time she got a full night’s sleep? Carly says before Michael was born, and Bobbie says no wonder her mind is playing tricks. She’s not crazy; she’s exhausted. Carly says even if she agreed, Sonny still blames Mike disappearing on her. She was chasing ghosts when she was supposed to be there. Right or not, it still hurts. Bobbie says Sonny has a lot of shortcomings, but his love for his family isn’t one of them. She tells Carly to take her meds, and once Sonny calms down, he’ll apologize. Carly asks if she thinks so, and Bobbie says, ask him herself. Because, surprise! there he is.

Finn says this isn’t a good idea, and Alexis says she didn’t plan it; she ran into Chase. Chase says he’s just as blindsided as Finn, but Alexis isn’t wrong. They need to talk it out, once and for all. Finn tells Chase that he has nothing to say. Chase wants to know what he ever did to Finn, but Finn says the problem isn’t with him.

Jordan calls Curtis, and tells him that Lucy is stopping by to sell tickets for the Nurses’ Ball. It was a special night for the two of them last year. She asks if she should put them down for two, and Curtis says, great idea.

Michael appreciates Nelle trying to mend fences, but she doesn’t have to. Nelle says she gets why Carly hates her. She did terrible things to their family. They’ll never have a nice, cozy relationship, and that’s fine; she just wants what’s best for the baby. If something happens, she thinks Carly should be primary guardian. Michael agrees and thanks her. She says she’s just trying to do the right thing.

Carly asks what Sonny is doing there. He says he’s meeting with Lucy to give her a donation. Bobbie has to get to work. Carly asks if Sonny wants to join her, but he has to get home to coordinate with Ava. Carly tells him good luck with that. She asks him how long he’s going to blame her for what happened to Avery.

Griff goes to the gallery. He says Ava lied to him. Why didn’t she tell him the truth about her deal with Sonny?

Tomorrow, Griff tells Ava that Mike is innocent, Sam is getting a divorce, and Sonny says the bigger problem is Carly. I could have told him that.

The Haves and the Have Nots

Veronica throws a brick through the window in David’s door. He comes running out in his underwear. She says he bought her a house. He tells Veronica if she doesn’t leave, he’s calling the police. She says this is the house she said she wanted, and David tells Erica to call the police. Veronica tells her to go ahead. David doesn’t want to see or talk to Veronica. She says he’s going to talk to her a lot. She remembers when she brought him to the house, and says he can’t get rid of her that easy. He tells her not to come back. She says she will be back. She told him how much she loved the house, and he said they couldn’t afford it. He bought it and has a whore living in it. She keeps shrieking that it’s her house, and he smacks her. She screams, he’s beating me, and tells him that he continues to humiliate her; she’s had enough of him. He asks if she’s serious. She has their son in jail. She says he’s guilty, and they can lay all this sh*t on the line if that’s what he wants.

David says what he wants is to never see her again as long as he lives. Veronica says that might be soon. He asks if she’s threatening him, and she says she doesn’t threaten. He says she put their son in jail for murder; what’s wrong with her? She says, everything. She’s sane and crazy at the same time. Why doesn’t he ask what’s wrong with their son? David says, nothing is wrong, and she says he likes men. Erica comes to the door, and says the police are on their way. Veronica suggests calling an ambulance. David tells Erica not to taunt her, and go inside. Veronica says she should listen to her lover boy, and Erica says, this is ridiculous. David goes in the house, and Veronica tells him not to do this. She made him. She put in all the work, and it’s because of her he can live like this. He wants to throw her away for a whore. He was nothing before her, and will be nothing after her. She promises that. She finally leaves.

Erica is like, what the hell?! David is sorry. Erica says she cut her foot on the glass. She doesn’t think she can do this. She doesn’t like drama, and this is too much. David says he’ll take care of it. He says her ex was abusive, so she knows what it’s like. She says maybe that’s why she doesn’t want to be a part of it. She thinks if David was going to take care of Veronica, he’d have done it by now. She asks if he loves Veronica. He says he’s being patient, and she asks, why? Veronica is going to come back. He he tells her to calm down, and she says she’s already gone through so much. David understands, and he’s sorry. He says they’ll get through this, and she wonders how he can be so calm.

Hanna is all glammed up, in a tight red dress with a beautiful, unique neckline, and a long, wavy wig with highlights. She asks Benny what he thinks, and he says she’s his momma and not wearing that. She says she has a date, and how does she look. He says, not like his momma. She knows it’s hard to believe, but she was a woman before she was his mom. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Derek, who says Hanna looks beautiful. He holds out his hand to Benny, but Benny crosses his arms. He tells Derek that he’s not going anywhere with his momma. Hanna says she’s grown, and goodnight.

Jeffrey is in the interrogation room, and calls for the guard. He’s wondering why he’s there. Veronica comes in, and says, hello, but Jeffrey says nothing. She asks how he is, and he asks what she’s doing there. She has him locked up in prison. She says, no. As bad as this is, it’s jail, and prison is a thousand times worse. They’ll love him in there. Jeffrey calls her the worst mother in the world, but she says she’s a wonderful mother. She’s just disappointed he has more feminine genes than male. He wants out. She says, too late for that. She told him stay away from that girl and come home, but where was he? Jeffrey says, at a hotel with him. Veronica asks again, wanting him to refer to Justin as her. She says she warned him, and this is what happens when he doesn’t heed her warning. He says he gets the lesson; can he go home? She asks if he’ll be the husband, father, and man she’s told him to be, and he says yes. She asks if he won’t see that girl again, and he says, no, he won’t. Veronica says, good. Jeffrey asks if he can go home, but she says he’s in there on serious charges. He says he needs to get out, and she tells him that she never wanted to raise a child to go to jail, but he forced her hand. She can’t get him out. He says she put him in, but she tells him that he’s in the system. He asks why she put him in there, and she asks if he thought she was kidding. She says she’ll work on it, and he’ll be okay. She tells him she loves him, and asks if he doesn’t love her. Through gritted teeth, he says he loves her. She says it’s the best place for him, and leaves.

Veronica sees Justin in the hallway, and says, hey girl. He walks over, and she says at least he knows his name. He says her name is bitch, and she says, so original. He says it suits her, and she says she likes it sometimes. She asks if he still works there. He tells her that he does. He heard she was in an accident, and asks how she is. She says she’s fine, but she heard his video is on the internet – is he? He accuses her of putting it out there, but she says it was probably some of his buddies in blue; they frown on that type of thing. Justin asks what happened, and she says she lost control of the car. He asks if she’s sure something didn’t make her lose control; he’s just wondering. She thinks he’s implying it was him, and he’s the one who ran her off the road. Part of her thinks so, but the woman in her thinks he’s too much of a little bitch to do it. A mere princess coming after a queen. She’s the real queen; not him. She says she gets under Justin’s skin, and Justin says he gets under her son’s skin. She asks why he doesn’t admit he ran her off the road, and he says he’s an officer of the law; he would never do such a thing. She calls him Officer Lady Girl, and asks, how’s his wife? Veronica doesn’t know why she was so shocked when she saw the video. Justin asks how her husband is, and answers his own question, saying he’s gone, now that he’s traded in a grandma for a sexy, beautiful woman. He tells her that when he and Jeffrey are on the pillow, Jeffrey tells him everything because they’re lovers. When Jeffrey gets out, they’re moving in together. He asks if she has a housewarming gift. She says he won’t ever have to worry about that happening. Jeffrey will never get out. He asks if she wants to bet, and she asks if he knows something she doesn’t. If he does, she’d like to see it. He walks away.

Derek and Hanna have dinner. He says she’s a natural; she’s naturally beautiful and knows her stuff. She tells him to take a picture; she can’t keep all this up. He asks if she drinks, and she says she has a beer now and then. He says they should order one, but she says it’s not a beer kind of place. He suggests wine. Hanna says she doesn’t know anything, but knows rich people order pinot. Derek admits he doesn’t drink, but doesn’t mind if she has something. He asks if she likes being a maid, and she says it’s an honest living, which means a lot. She doesn’t think kids today get it. They want it quick, and don’t want to work for it. Preach it, sister! Derek asks if she’s talking about her son, and she says, no; he works his butt off. He has a strong work ethic. Derek says, and a strong dislike for him. Hanna says he needs to work his own stuff out. She thought it would be easier as he got older, but it got harder. Derek gets it. e has three kids in college. It was a struggle getting them there, but he got it done. Hanna asks about his wife, and Derek says they met on a trip he took to Havana. He misses her, but he’s with Hanna tonight. She says she’s sorry. She knows how hard grief can be. He says that’s why they’re going dancing after dinner. She says she’s going home, and he says, no, she’s not. She says she likes to dance, but hasn’t gone in a while. He says that’s why they’re going, and he knows the perfect spot.

Melissa lets Benny into Veronica’s house. She tells him that Veronica isn’t there, and didn’t say when she’s coming back. He starts to leave, and she says they should talk. He says he’s sorry it happened, but he’s a man, and she put it out there. She asks if he thinks she’s obsessed, but he doesn’t know what to think. He says he’s not waiting, and Melissa begs him to stay. He doesn’t think so, and she asks if she turns him on that much. She admits to sending the text from Veronica’s phone, asking him to come. She wants to finish what they started. She starts taking off her clothes, and he asks her not to get him involved. They start to kiss, even though he’s saying no. They get busy on the couch.

At the hotel, Oscar asks Candace if she’s ready to be first lady. She has to think about it. He says she can sit in the White House for four to eight years, then after that write a book, and deal with Hollywood. Be rich, and play the long game. He tells her there’s no such thing as getting rich quick. Candace says she did. He says he’s talking big money, but she doesn’t mind starting with small millions. He says his group pays him well; they’ll both retire. He asks as if she’s in, but she doesn’t think so. He says he feels lightheaded, and asks if she put something in his drink. She tells him relax. He asks why, and she says she wants her money, and tells him that he’ll be up by noon. He tells her wait, and passes out.

Candace looks through Oscar’s laptop, getting the passwords from the pictures on her phone. She calls Rocky. He says he’s got something cooking. She tells him to keep eye on their girl, but if works out, they won’t have to run another whore. He says his shift ends soon, but she says he’d better be able to cancel his plans.

Veronica walks in on Benny and Melissa finishing up. Benny says, hey, and Melissa laughs. Veronica tells Benny to get out, and asks Melissa why she’s laughing. Melissa thinks it’s hilarious. She says Benny didn’t want Veronica’s old ass. Veronica says apparently, he wants her dumb ass. She calls Melissa a stupid fool and a little girl. She’s going to show her a grown woman’s game. Melissa pulls Veronica’s ponytail, and it’s on.

Jim and Kathryn wait at Wyatt’s apartment. Jim asks what Kathryn would do without him, and she says, be a lot happier. Without him wandering the world, completely out of control, she’d be free of all this foolishness, and in the arms of her Latin lover. Where would he be without her? She tells him to say it, so she can slap the sh*t out him. He says, those were the days, and tells her sit and relax. Kathryn says they’ve been there hours; where is he? Jim tells her to sit and wait. They already got the manager to open the door. He’s not going to spend another $2K to do it again. She asks what about the DA thing? What about George? Jim says he doesn’t want to go to jail; there’s no room service. He has a plan. Trust him; he’ll take care of it.

Wyatt comes in, and asks what they’re doing there, and how they got in. Jim says they’re rich. They can get in anywhere. Wyatt tells them to get the hell out. Kathryn tells him to listen. He says he’s going to call the cops, and Jim takes his phone, saying he’s going to listen. Him reaches into Wyatt’s coat pocket, and pulls out a large plastic bag of white powder. Wyatt says he needs it, and that he’s clean. Which makes perfect sense. Jim moves toward the sink, and they struggle. Wyatt repeats that he needs it. Jim slices the bag open, and starts dumping it into the sink. Kathryn tells Wyatt he doesn’t need it, and he cracks her one, sending her flying across the floor. He slams Jim in the head with a pan. Jim and Kathryn are both on the floor, and Wyatt grabs a sculpture. He holds it above his head, looking like The Hulk.

Next time, Veronica literally throws Melissa into the street, Jeffrey tells Justin to just get him out, Erica and David are falling for each other, and Candace can’t wake Oscar up.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – The Reunion Part Two

LVP shows us how her dress works by flipping the sequins and making her boobs a different color. Andy asks what it takes to prepare a Beverly Hills housewife for her day, and we see clips of that. Lots of handbags for Kyle. It’s expensive to be Erika. Fashion Week. The stunning news that Teddi doesn’t like to shop and isn’t into fashion. Erika tells us about how difficult it is to work with latex, but it was worth it. She spends $40K a month on all glam, but knows people who spend a lot more. The guess is, LVP owns the most shoes. Teddi’s breast enhancement is discussed. Andy says boobs are the universal unifier. What? We go down the Memory Lane of Erika’s looks this season.

Andy mentions the break-in at Kyle’s house. They got an alert in Aspen that someone had gotten into her closet. She says they got almost every single handbag and all the jewelry, everything that she didn’t have on her, including irreplaceable things from her mother. She says watching the show was hard, seeing things that are gone. Andy points out that Mauricio talked about security with Edwin, but she says it wasn’t complete yet, and the dogs were in training. Nothing was recovered. LVP gave her a new Chanel handbag for her birthday to help start over. Andy asks if Kyle thinks they’ll stay in the new house, but Kyle isn’t sure.

We revisit the friendship between Dorit, Erika, and LisaR, and see some clips of their antics. A viewer asks why Dorit was more open to a second chance with Erika than with LisaR? Dorit apologizes to LisaR for everything she and PK said. She thinks for her and Erika, the situation was different. Andy asks Erika about PK, and she says they’re cordial. LisaR says ditto, and it’s miraculous, thinking back to a year ago. We see a clip of PK at the reunion that’s beyond tense. LisaR applauds them getting to where they are. LVP says they’ll like PK more as they know him. Dorit says she couldn’t have done her song without Erika. Her encouragement meant the world. Andy asks if they’re still good, and they are.

Camille joins the group. Andy congratulates her on the engagement. We look at the ring, which is about five carats. She says Kelsey’s was smaller, and someone (probably LisaR) asks, the ring? Ha-ha! I think Camille already addressed that issue. Andy brings up Camille being the most hated Housewife on the cover of a magazine. Now they get “many positive tweets,” and she’s gone from abhorred to adored. Camille says it’s better than being hated, which I could have guessed. We see some clips of Camille throughout the season, including Dorit acting like an a-hole. Camille is wearing the ball-gag as a bracelet, and oddly enough, it matches her dress. A viewer says Dorit can dish it out, but can’t take it. Dorit says it was LVP’s birthday, and she thought they were past that. Camille thinks it’s an excuse, but Dorit says she can take a joke; the timing was bad. Dorit says she needs to work on not saying whatever comes into her head. Camille says calling her a c-word humiliated and hurt her, especially in front of David. She felt she was being targeted by Dorit and PK.

A viewer asks if Camille consulted Allison DuBois to find out if Dorit will ever close her mouth. We flash back to the dinner party from hell, and Camille says they’re not in contact anymore. She thought Camille set her up. LVP says if she’s psychic, she should have seen it coming. Andy asks if he can have the ball-gag for the Clubhouse. Erika wants to pee, and they break for lunch.

Dorit sits with LVP. She doesn’t like Teddi’s superior attitude. There are qualities she likes, but it wasn’t a fluid conversation. In another room, Teddi tells Kyle about Dorit writing bad things on social media about her, yet she’s being blamed for not letting things go. LVP tells Dorit that she needs to figure out how to navigate things. Kyle is frustrated trying to make a point with everyone yelling at each other

We go back to the time altercation between Teddi and Dorit, the wrong glass, and Teddi trying to apologize. Andy asks why Dorit thought Teddi was trying to cause a problem between her and LisaR. Teddi says, sorry, again, and Erika says good thing LisaR is more laid back this season. A viewer thinks Dorit talks too much and then plays the victim. Teddi says you get confused by what she’s saying, and Dorit says, no, you. Teddi says she admits things, and doesn’t blame anyone else. Everyone talks over each other and has separate conversations, so nothing can be understood.

Andy asks who would care if they were served rosé in a champagne glass? Teddi says she wouldn’t care, but if she did care, she would be discreet. Dorit claims the bartender asked if she wanted a refill, and she asked to switch glasses. LVP says could have handled it differently. Teddi says Dorit also wouldn’t participate in spa day, and she wished she’d known ahead of time. This is what led to her conversation with LVP, and nothing against LVP, Teddi never mentioned her name. We see a clip. Giggy! LVP shared that information with Dorit. Dorit says she’s sorry she made Teddi uncomfortable in her own home. She shouldn’t feel she has to go outside her comfort zone to please anyone. Camille says had a great time, and asks why Erika left without telling anyone. Erika says, because she could, and she didn’t feel well. She and Camille have a tense moment, but it passes.

Andy brings up a mean tweet from Camille about Dorit. Camille admits it was a slight. Andy moves to Dorit’s lateness. Teddi says she was irritated, but never angry. When she found out that Dorit had talked to Kyle, she wondered why Dorit was talking to Kyle, and acting like it was less time than it was. She’s annoyed at having to defend herself more than about Dorit being late. She’s among a group of strangers, and it looks like she cares about six minutes. Dorit says she’s been talked about in every interview. Teddi is different to her face than behind her back. Sometimes their communication is difficult. She hates it when Teddi resuscitates something. She thinks they can move forward, and she’ll own what she does and says.

We say goodbye to Camille. Everyone goes for a pee break. Camille and Dorit make peace and hug in the hallway.

LVP is up next, in particular, her friendships with Teddi and Dorit. We see clips. Giggy! We slide into Dorit being taken out of the Beverly Hills Lifestyle magazine. A viewer calls her a diva, and says she deserved to be replaced. LVP says it was about the jewelry, not Dorit. Why would she want it less than perfect? Dorit whines that she only knew the day before. Erika wonders if bringing her own glam squad would have made a difference. LVP says she saw her defer to photographer Mark. Dorit kept saying she didn’t like any of them. We see her saying she doesn’t like anything about the photos. Dorit says she felt badly, and told LVP, but LVP says that was later on. The new photos are discussed, LVP explaining the process, and Dorit asks if she was being punished. Erika says that LVP felt Dorit was being an a-hole, so she decided to be another a-hole, and chop Dorit’s head off and put the photos in.

Of course I think LVP can do no wrong, but that’s what Dorit gets for whining about pictures that were fine. I think she was fishing for compliments, but the photographer took it as an insult, so too bad.

Next time, more on the photo shoot, LisaR criticizes Teddi, and Teddi and Erika argue.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Fear the Walking Dead

Nick burns the crops. I guess he’s still not done fighting the weevils. Too bad they can’t feed the weevils to the zombies and get the zombies to do the farming.

Al asks what they did to Nick. She tells him that she’s just trying to help. They’re all breathing, which means they’re on the same team. Victor thinks they should have reached the turn-off by now. Al says she gave them the right directions, just not all of them. She wants their stories, and they want to know where she found the flag. She’s not letting them take her van or threaten them anymore. Nick says this is how it’s going to be, and Al asks if he knows how many times she’s been zip-tied. She manages to grab Nick, getting him to drop is weapon, and tells Luci to pull over. Nick tells Luci not to do it. They see a cluster of zombies, and Al says, change of plans; keep driving. There’s a scuffle, thanks to Nick, and Luci turns, but into a ditch. Nice going. Although a few zombies were creamed in the process.

Nick makes stupid faces as he comes to, and John reaches for the wheel.

Nick is back at the stadium. Madison asks if he’s okay, and tells him she’s going on a run. He says he’s coming; he wants to help.

Nick wakes up next to a pile of zombies, and John trying to get the truck out. Al says they have to get a tow. Then they’ll talk about whatever they have to – or not. They can go on their way if they want. Luci thinks they could use a truck from a service yard she saw. Victor says often the start of a negotiation requires an act of faith. John asks Al if she trusts him, and Al says, probably not. She unties all of them, hesitating when she gets to Victor. She ties Nick to the truck. Morgan says he’ll only slow them down, so he’ll stay. Al asks if he’ll be there when they get back he says if he’s not, something went wrong. John takes the others up the hill. Luci tells Nick they won’t be gone long.

Morgan reads, and Nick asks what he’s reading. Morgan is silent, and Nick asks for something to eat. Morgan cuts his ties, and tells him get it himself. Nick asks if he isn’t worried. He reaches for Morgan, and Morgan knocks him on his face, saying he’s not worried. (Ah-ha! in Nelson voice.) Nick gets a protein bar, and asks if Morgan likes peanut butter. He gives Morgan half, and introduces himself. Morgan says he’s going up to the road and not to move five feet from the truck. Nick picks up Morgan’s book, The Art of Peace, and flips though it.

Nick looks around the truck, and finds the video camera. He fast-forwards through John’s interview, and stops on Morgan’s. Morgan practices with his pokey stick, but his leg hurts. He sees car racing down the roads, and runs – as fast as he can anyway – back to the truck. He tells Nick to get down. Nick sees the car go past, and grapples with Morgan. They cause the horn to go off. It’s stuck, and just continues to blare. Zombies pop out of everywhere. Nick takes off. Morgan asks Nick to toss him his stick, and Nick runs. I’m annoyed that Nick is leaving injured Morgan to the zombies, so he can chase after a flashy old convertible.

We see a close-up of a zombie. Then a close-up of Al slicing its skull. Luci sees a huge wheel of cable, and thinks it would work. John hopes they can get Al’s truck out by sundown. They drive back in a flatbed truck, carrying the wheel. Victor believes Al’s mission is one of benevolence; they’re alive after an aggressive introduction. He asks if she’s doing it for a reason. She says she wants them to clean up the mess they made. He thinks there’s more to it than that, and she says, their stories. He asks, for who? and she says she doesn’t know how it ends. It might be the only thing left. Victor says there will be no one to see it, and Al says, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s captured. She sees a scar on his hand, and asks what happened and why is he trying to hide it? He asks her again, why? She says, the truth matters. That’s the trade; the truth about him for the flag. He says they’re just words, and she says, more than that. Luci joins them, saying she gets it. She says Al knows her sh*t, except for the sh*t about the truth. Victor says he’ll consider the offer.

Nick runs. He looks into the woods and sees some bluebonnets.

Nick and Madison drive past Mel and the Vulture gang. Ohh, the blue convertible is their car. Mel greets Madison, and tells her it’s slim pickin’s unless you know where to look. Madison says they’ll manage. He’s glad to see Nick is back out again. He tosses The Little Prince into their car, asking Nick to tells his girlfriend that Charlie doesn’t like children’s books. They drive away, and Nick says she didn’t stand a chance. Charlie was never staying with them, no matter what. Madison says they’ll get her back. Nick asks how Madison does it, and she says wherever she goes, she tries to look for something good. A ravioli billboard, an armadillo, a sign that people tried to help each other. She always sees something.

Nick picks a flower. This is one of those episodes where they go back and forth in time. I hate that. If I want to watch that, I’ll watch Once Upon a Time. We hear zombie gurgles. Here they come. Nick whacks them with a hammer, but gets knocked down. One zombie comes close, like a few inches from his face, but Morgan whacks it and stabs it in the head. He tells Nick that they need to find someplace safe, and helps him up.

Morgan and Nick ease on down the road. Nick says the others will wonder what happened, but Morgan says they’ll find them. They come to a town where there are a few zombies toddling around, and they kill them. Nick asks if Morgan is okay. Morgan suggest they sit tight. Nick asks why Morgan helped him, and Morgan says he doesn’t kill.

Madison and Nick find that stinking convertible in front of a church, with a bunch of canned goods in crates in the back. It’s Mel’s brother, Ennis. Nick asks if he’s following them, and Ennis says they were there first. He tells them to get a faster car. Charlie comes out of the church, and Ennis says Mel told them she has a knack for finding the good stuff. Nick tells Charlie that she doesn’t have to listen. Ennis says she wants to. He found her, and taught her how to make it. Nick moves toward Ennis. Madison tells him, now is not the time. Ennis says he keeps his family safe. Nick is on him, holding a knife to his throat. Madison tells him to stop. Ennis is bleeding, and tells Charlie, let’s get out of here.

Morgan tapes his leg. Nick asks if he wants help, and Morgan says he’s got it. Nick tells him to lay off the karate. Morgan tells Nick to stop getting himself in trouble, and its not karate. Nick asks what it is, and Morgan says, just not karate. Nick thinks they should find a car before they come back. Morgan says, the El Camino? telling us what kind of cool car it is. Morgan says it’s not going to work out how Nick thinks, and asks what they did to him. Nick says he bets Morgan has killed, and asks why did he stop? Who did he lose? He says he saw the tape, repeating Morgan’s words; I lose people, then lose myself. Morgan says he’s not telling him. If Nick wants to hunt down the ones who hurt him, it’s his business.

The horn on Al’s truck is still blasting, and zombies crowd around it. They see an arrow made out of sticks on the ground, showing them which way Nick and Morgan went. Al says she’s not leaving, and they won’t find out about the flag; not from her anyway. John says Morgan might need them; it’s just a van. Al says she has things in it, and tells him to go; she’ll be fine. Alicia says they’ll get the van out, and Victor says it’s their act of faith. He tells Luci to go find Nick. Alicia tells Al they’re not going to try anything with two of them out there. Victor says why not just tell them; how did she find those people? Al says she’ll answer all of their questions; let her film them doing what they do. Alicia says, deal. They can turn off this horn any time now.

Alicia gets the zombies’ attention, and picks them off, while Al shoots at the others. Alicia hooks the van up to the flatbed. She crawls underneath the truck, and out the other side. She gets in the cab. Victor starts up the flatbed, and pulls the van out.

Morgan sees Ennis, who tells Morgan to keep walking; there’s nothing for him there. Morgan says Ennis needs to leave, and Ennis says, or what? Ennis sees Nick, and says, holy sh*t! He didn’t think he’d see Nick. Morgan tells Nick to walk away, and Ennis says he should listen to his friend. It’s been good to see him, but he has to get some pimentos back. Unless Nick wants to give him a hand. Nick looks Morgan in the eye, and asks if he’s going to do what it takes to stop him. Morgan steps back, and Nick says, didn’t think so.

Nick tells Madison that Charlie saw everything, but didn’t do anything. He would have been trying to do the right thing, but she did the worst thing. Being out there makes him feel more trapped, like who he’ll be is closing in on him and suffocating him.

Nick jumps Ennis.

Morgan walks away, and keeps going.

Nick and Ennis fight. Ennis cracks Nick in the head with a jar of pimentos.

Morgan is like, dammit, and turns around.

Ennis has a knife a millimeter away from Nick’s eyeball. A deer head has fallen down during their scuffle, and Nick pushes Ennis back onto the antlers, where he’s impaled. That’s not good enough, so Nick pushes on him, until he’s finished. Great. A zombie with a deer head attached to it. Just what everyone needs.

John looks at a downed zombie, and says looks like a stick-based trauma. He asks Luci why Nick was worried she wouldn’t come back, and she says one time she didn’t. Al comes by in the truck. John asks if Luci left because she didn’t love Nick. She says she left, but still loved him.

Morgan finds Nick, his hands drenched in blood. Nick asks what he wants. Morgan says it was his wife, his son, and his friends. That’s who he lost before he lost himself. He knows where Nick is; he was there. He didn’t know how to make it stop, or if he wanted it to. He didn’t think he could find his way out. Then he met someone; a man who didn’t have to help him, but did. The man showed him all life is precious, and it helped; It still dos. Nick asks, how exactly? Morgan takes out the book, and says the books is part of it. Nick says, too late, and Morgan says, believe me, it’s not. He puts the book into Nick’s bloodied hands. He says they can talk about it; talk about anything. Nick takes the book.

Sitting on some steps, Nick reads. Al comes with the others in the truck. Al checks through her tapes. She puts one on top that says, The Bog, along with the dates it was filmed.

Nick puts the book in his pocket, and takes out the bluebonnet. He contemplates it.

Madison drives while Nick navigates. She stops by a field of bluebonnets. Nick lies down in the middle of them.

Nick hears a gunshot. He puts his hand on his chest, and realizes he’s been shot. Charlie stands in front of him with a gun. She backs away, and he falls. Luci and Alicia find him. Charlie disappears. Victor tries to stop the bleeding. Alicia tells him to look at her; it’s going to be fine. That’s highly doubtful, since blood is pouring out of his mouth and he’s gasping for air. Nick tries to talk, but he’s never going to talk again. He’s dead. Victor looks at Luci. Morgan is like, damn, I want my book back. Alicia wails over Nick’s body. Luci cries silently, and Victor holds her.

Nick lies in the bluebonnet field.

Next time, Al does some interviews, Mel asks if Madison wants a weenie (spoiler: she says she’s good), and we see the amusement park.

💬 Funny aside. On Talking Dead, during Nick’s “obituary,” it said no one told him, never look at the flowers. Two of the episode writers were guests, and said they liked the idea, but if it was a reference to Carol in The Walking Dead, it was subconscious. They did add that was one of their favorite episodes though. You decide…

🍑 Tonight, The Real Housewives of Atlanta had a 10th Anniversary special. It was fun to see all the wigs gone by, and the pulling thereof. Also the many noses of Kim and NeNe. What’s with Kim anyway? Why does she seem human on Don’t Be Tardy, and she’s a raving lunatic on Housewives? And was she a cast member without a peach this season? That was confusing. Kim is confusing. And why does she want to look like she’s fifty when she’s barely past thirty? So many questions I will never have answered.

⚓ I’m almost caught up with The Terror, having watched a marathon today. My town had a marathon today too, which bounced me out of bed at the crack of dawn, with the base from a loudspeaker blasting bad music. But that’s another story. The Terror is a cool show – no pun intended. The icy scenery is fabulous though, and makes you feel cold just looking at it. The atmosphere is creepy as hell. Like Ravenous, but on a boat, and without the Civil War and cannibalism. No cannibalism yet anyway. Being out in the middle of frozen nowhere, long before we had radios, is scary enough, but with an unknown entity – they keep saying it’s a bear, but no way it’s a bear – that keeps chopping people in half, it delivers what the title promises. I’m through episode five – I think tomorrow is seven – and in it for the long haul. Or short, or whatever the haul is.

😢 Sigh…
