What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Josslyn knocks on Jason’s door, and he invites her in. She says, it’s late, and she hopes it’s okay that she’s here. He says, of course (🍷), and she says she just really needs to talk to someone. He asks if everything is okay, and she says she did something she really regrets and thinks he’s the only person who will understand.

Sam shows up at the hatchet range, where the festivities have wound down, and she tells Dante that she’s sorry she’s late. Something came up. Jason won’t listen to her, and Danny won’t listen to her either.

Anna asks if Dex is having second thoughts, and he says, about coming tonight? Maybe. It was really nice of Chase to invite him, but it might have been a mistake taking him up on it. She says, the cops got to him, didn’t they? and he says he tried to shrug it off, but yeah. He thinks they both might have underestimated how tough it’s going to be for him at the academy and the department, if he even gets in. She asks if he’s thinking of giving up.

Kristina shows up at TJ and Molly’s apartment, and Molly asks, what’s wrong?

In the nook, Tracy asks Lois what she thinks would happen if a piece of loot accidentally made it into the decorations bag, and Lois says, all hell would break loose. Liv and her labeling gene. She gets it from her grandmother. Old Mrs. Falconari used to label everything. She’s surprised this kitchen isn’t labeled. Refrigerator, fruit bowl, Tracy. They laugh, and Brook says, it can be a bit much sometimes, but how cute is it that she labeled Brook’s gifts loot. She thanks Lois again and says she was half-dreading her bridal shower-slash-bachelorette party and it turned out to be such a great night. Lois says, anything for her girl, and Tracy says, it was a great party. But some of her friends can’t hold their liquor. Brook says, not like you, huh granny? and Tracy says, on that note, she’s going to bed. They say goodnight and Tracy leaves. Brook says, tonight really was a blast. She just wants to call Chase and tell him all about it, but she doesn’t want to interrupt his party or wake him if he’s already home.

Finn and Chase approach Finn’s apartment, and Finn says, the sitter had to leave 20 minutes ago. He hopes dad and Violet are already asleep. Finn opens the door, and Violet runs to him, saying, he’s got to help grandpa. Gregory lies on the couch wearing an oxygen mask.

Jordan nearly gets a bullseye, and at a table, Sam tells Dante that she told Danny not to visit his father, and what does he do? Straight from school, he goes to see his father. She told Jason, please stay away from Danny, and he spends time with Danny anyway. Dante says, it’s frustrating, but maybe just take a breath. She does, and says, Jason seems like this stand-up, solid guy, but he broke her heart twice by falling off the face of the earth. The first time, she knows it wasn’t his choice, but the second time… She keeps asking him what happened, and he refuses to explain it to her. That’s hard enough for her as an adult to process that, but Danny is a kid, and he would be devastated if Jason disappeared again. Dante says, it’s a difficult situation. He’s not saying she’s doing anything wrong, but she doesn’t want Danny thinking he’s doing something wrong by wanting to have a relationship with his dad, right? She says, that’s not what she’s doing… is she?

Kristina tells Molly that she was at Brook’s bridal shower, and she was having a great time. Then Josslyn comes along and starts blatantly lying about her dad. Molly says, lying, and Kristina says, Josslyn was upset because she and Dex broke up and she blames Kristina’s dad. Of course (🍷), because she blames him for everything. Molly asks, what exactly did Josslyn say? and Kristina tells her, Josslyn said that her dad ordered Dex to kill Cyrus Renault when he was beaten up and in the hospital. Molly says, that is totally inappropriate for Josslyn to do, especially at Brook’s bridal shower, and Kristina says she knows. Molly says, but Sonny doesn’t have a reputation for no reason, and Kristina says she’s not naïve. She knows who her dad is. But to order Dex to kill Cyrus, a broken-down old man, when he’s in the hospital? He wouldn’t do that. There’s no way.

Josslyn tells Jason that she couldn’t help herself. She just came right out to Kristina and told her that her beloved father sent Dex to kill Cyrus. That shut her up quick. She drinks some water, and Jason tells her, drink the whole thing. She says she realizes he probably doesn’t know Dex, but she figured Jason had heard his name. Anyway, they’re very complicated. Jason says he and Dex haven’t met, but her mom told him a little bit about Dex. She asks if her mom told him that Dex risked his life protecting Sonny and then Sonny decided he was a traitor and turned on him. Dex is not the kind of guy who would kill someone for money, but Sonny had him so screwed up, he actually considered finishing killing a man that Sonny had already beaten half to death. He says, that’s Dex’s decision. Nobody else can make that for him. She says, it’s not Dex’s decision. It’s Sonny’s orders. And that’s been her problem with Kristina, because every time she sees Kristina, she’s out defending him or saying he can’t do anything wrong. She’s just sick of it. She can’t understand why Kristina can’t see him for what he really is. How could she be that blind? He says he thinks because most people want to see their parents in a good light, and maybe Josslyn isn’t seeing Sonny clearly right now.

Chase calls the paramedics and says his father has ALS. He’s having trouble breathing. They have a home ventilator and he’s awake, but he’s not moving. Finn asks Violet if she can tell him what happened, and Violet says, they were playing a game and that’s when he started breathing funny. He told her to go get his machine from his bedroom because he couldn’t get up. Finn says, she did great. He’s so proud of her. He tells Gregory that it’s going to be okay. He’s going to ask Gregory a few questions. If Gregory can hear him, blink once for yes, twice for no. Is he in any pain? Gregory blinks twice, and Finn says, good. He knew something was wrong and that’s why he had Violet go get his oxygen, right? Gregory blinks once, and Finn asks Violet if grandpa has been like this for a while, or did this just happen? Music is playing, and she says she thinks it’s been three songs. Is grandpa going to be okay? Finn says he knows she’s scared, but there’s nothing to be scared about. Grandpa’s going to be fine. This happens sometimes with people who have ALS. Chase says, she was so brave. Why didn’t she call her dad when she saw this happen? She says she was going to, but she got so busy helping grandpa with his machine, and Chase says, it’s okay. Finn asks if Gregory can move his arms or legs.

Brook tells Lois to put the seating chart away and go to sleep. She’s gone over it a million times. It’s perfect. Lois says, it was perfect until she found out Brook’s Cousin Angela and her Aunt Patty are fighting again. She has to separate the two of them. Otherwise, there will be a nasty, cake flinging incident, possibly anyway. That’s her story. Why is Brook still up? Brook says she’s just too excited. She’s going to have full-blown insomnia by the time the wedding comes. What was it like for Lois and her dad? Lois says, as Brook knows, she lives in a permanent state of excitement of course (🍷), but she was exactly like Brook. Although their situations were a little different. She loved her wedding, and she will always love Brook’s father, but – she sighs – their situation was different from Brook and Chase. Brook asks what she means, and Lois says, being truthful and keeping promises aren’t necessarily the Quartermaines strongest suits. Present company excluded of course (🍷). Brook says, of course (🍷), and Lois says, but Harrison Chase is a different story altogether. If she could have chosen the perfect husband for Brook – and she wanted to do that many times over the years – she would have picked a man exactly like Chase. He’s sweet and he’s gorgeous. He’s smart and he protects and serves. She doesn’t know if Brook has noticed yet or not, but he has this beautiful, nice beard going on that not every man can pull off. Brook says she’s noticed and agrees. The beard is so good. Brook hugs Lois, and Lois asks, what was that for? Brook says she loves Lois and she’s really glad Lois is here, and Lois says, her too.

Finn asks, how’s Violet? and Chase says, she’s scared, but she was also exhausted, and she went to sleep. How’s dad? Finn says, the ventilator is doing its job. Dad’s breathing is good. The paramedics will be here any minute. He tells Gregory to close his eyes and rest if he wants to. They’ve got him. Chase gestures for Finn to step aside with him and asks if dad is going to be admitted to the hospital. Finn says he doesn’t know, but he thinks so, and Chase wonders what they’re supposed to do. They can’t get married next week if dad is paralyzed in the hospital. Finn says, that’s really between him and Brook. Right now, all he can think about is getting dad the help he needs and trying to comfort Violet. Chase wonders, where the hell are these paramedics?

Josslyn asks if Jason thinks she’s a terrible person for saying what she said, but he says, no. She’s not a terrible person. She says she’s not so sure (me neither). Maybe her mom was right about her. He says, her mom is right about a lot of things, but not everything. What did she say? Josslyn says she went off about Sonny, and she went on about how she didn’t understand how her mom could possibly support him after everything. And her mom told her that all of this hatred she had for Sonny is just poisoning her, and all of this anger she has is just hurting her. He asks if Josslyn thinks she’s right, and she says she didn’t at the time, but after tonight, she thinks her mom has a point. She should have never said that to Kristina. And the look on her face. It just proved to Josslyn that she can also be very cruel sometimes. (No kidding. She can be like a mean girl.)

Dex says he knows the academy will be difficult, if he even gets in, and Anna says, come on. He knows he aced the test. He says he didn’t want to presume, and she tells him to go ahead and presume. How does he think he’ll do? He says he plans to work and train and study as hard as possible. He’ll do whatever it takes to graduate. He just hadn’t taken into account how much the other officers might have toward him because he worked for Sonny. There were officers tonight who would clearly turn their backs on him. They don’t want him to join their ranks. Anna says she’s sorry that happened, but he says he doesn’t blame them. Sonny is a mob boss and he protected him. The other cops are wondering what his angle is here. He was just in this position with Sonny, and he’s in no rush to put himself back in a position where he’s constantly suspected and being undermined by the people around him. She says, got it. Trust is very important on the force. Your life, quite literally, is in your partner’s hands. He says, so she agrees this is going to be a problem, and she says, yeah. He asks if she’s changed her mind about him joining the PCPD. Should he just give up and forget about it? She says, absolutely not. She never said becoming a cop was going to be easy, but it is certainly worth it.

Lois says, all fixed. There will be no cake flinging on her watch. Tracy comes in, ready for bed and looking at her phone. She says she was just looking at the photographs from the shower. Who knew that Willow could dance like that? She was always the shy one. Brook asks if no one is asleep in this house, and Tracy says she’s parched and needs to hydrate first. And Olivia said Ned was already in bed when they got home. Lois says, that doesn’t surprise her. Men don’t know how to have fun at a party without shooting something or setting it on fire. Brook says she’s so glad she’s a woman, and Tracy says she thinks she might need a glass of warm milk to help her sleep… or maybe a glass of schnaps. She picks up the bottle, and Brook says she doesn’t think schnaps is considered hydrating. Tracy says, yeah, but it’s considered really fun, when Lois’s phone chimes. Tracy wonders who that could be at this hour, and Lois says, it’s Chase. He says he’s been trying to reach Brook, but she hasn’t been answering her phone and he wants her to wake Brook up because he’s on his way over right now. Brook says, what? She left her phone upstairs. If he’s coming over this late, it must mean something’s really wrong.

One of the paramedics says, they’ll take it from here, and Chase says he’s going to wait and see what they say. Then he’s going to go talk to Brook. As the paramedics tend to him, Gregory says he’s getting his feeling back, and Finn tells him, be careful. Don’t push it. Gregory takes the mask off and says he’s okay. He doesn’t know what just happened, but it feels like it’s passing now. Chase says, that’s great, and Finn says he’s glad Gregory is feeling better, but the paramedics are going to take him to GH. He needs to be checked out. Gregory says, absolutely not. What is the ER doctor going to tell him that he doesn’t already know?

As Kristina eats ice cream, Molly asks if she’s feeling a bit better at least, but Kristina says, no. Honestly, she just keeps thinking about what Josslyn said, and it’s making her more and more upset. It’s common knowledge that her dad beat up Cyrus Renault on New Year’s Eve, but that was an extenuating circumstance and Cyrus is no angel. Molly says, Cyrus is definitely not a great guy, but Sonny shouldn’t have attacked him. Kristina says, of course (🍷) not. No one deserves that, not even Cyrus. She knows that. Molly says she’s glad, and Kristina says, but it was a really bad night for her dad. He’d just found out Nina had lied to him, and he was completely reeling from that, so Cyrus must have done or said something terrible to provoke her dad to attack him. And Cyrus clearly knows that because he’s not pressing charges. Molly says, that’s definitely a possibility, and Kristina says she knows her dad has a temper, but Josslyn’s not right about this. Her dad would never order Dex to kill Cyrus while he was in the hospital. He just wouldn’t do that. Molly knows that, right?

Drew tells Jordan that hatchet throws were invented in Canada by two friends who got really drunk and bet which of them would be better at it. She says, that sounds completely made up, but he says, it’s true, and gets out his phone. She sees a photo of Scout and says, that’s a cute picture. She’s adorable. Drew says he agrees. He’s biased, but she’s amazing. He loves her more than anything else in the world. Jordan asks if she can confess something, and he says, please do. Hatchet throwing is a safe space. She says she’s secretly hoping TJ and Molly’s baby is a girl because she wants to buy a ridiculous amount of dresses for her. He says he doesn’t want her to take this the wrong way, but he doesn’t see it, and she says, see what? He says, her as a grandmother. She’s way too young and vibrant for that word. She laughs and says, bless you.

Sam tells Dante that she knows that Danny was having problems before Jason came back, and she understands that happens with kids his age, but she was hoping things would get better. And now it’s like Danny can refuse to play by her rules because he has somewhere to go and someone to complain to about them. Dante asks if she thinks Jason would encourage that kind of thing, and she says, all she knows is, it’s too dangerous for Danny to be around his father right now. It’s why she and Jason broke up in the first place. She wanted to keep her kids physically and emotionally safe. She won’t allow the danger that follows Jason back into their life and their home.

Josslyn tells Jason that she wanted to say what she said to Kristina tonight for so long. It’s been on the tip of her tongue for months. But the second she said it and saw the look on Kristina’s face, she realized she’s not mad at Kristina. She’s mad at Sonny and he’s not going to listen to her, and he doesn’t care what she thinks. Jason says, Dex isn’t working for Sonny anymore, right? and she says, no. He’s going in the opposite direction and he’s becoming a cop. Jason says, Dex is becoming a cop, and Josslyn says, he applied to the PCPD academy. She knows she should just be happy for him and be happy he’s going legit and going to be on the right side of the law this time, but all she can think about is Sonny’s reaction. And she went to Anna and told her how angry Sonny’s going to be and to not let Dex into the academy, but Anna wouldn’t listen to her. He says, yeah. Sonny can definitely see Dex becoming a cop as a threat to him. She says, he absolutely will and she’s terrified. She still loves Dex and she’s going to grieve him for the rest of her life if Sonny has him killed.

Anna tells Dex that a similar thing happened to her recently when she was reinstated as Commissioner. Some of the officers weren’t all that happy with her past and they let her know it. They made comments and some work was slow washed. She has to say, it wasn’t pleasant. Dex says he had no idea. He’s sorry. She says, it’s not like she didn’t expect it. In all fairness, they had every reason to doubt her. He says, they all seem to respect her now. How did she get them to change their minds? She says she had to prove herself. She had to show them that she wanted the exact same thing they do, to protect and serve. And she shows them every single day. She has every confidence he’ll be able to do the same and he’ll succeed in winning over his fellow officers. He says he appreciates her faith, and she says she originally wanted him in her department because of what he knows about Sonny and his organization. But she has to say, she’s very impressed with his commitment, and now she just sees a good man who will make a great officer. He says, it really means a lot having her in his corner, and she says, unfortunately, it’s not going to do him any good when Detective Bennet gets ahold of him over at the police academy.

Finn says, look who woke up and wanted to see how much better Gregory was doing, and Violet runs to Gregory. She sits next to him, hugs him, and says she’s so glad he’s better. He says, thanks to her. She was so brave getting his machine for him and helping him put it on. She says she was really scared, and he says he’s sorry. He didn’t mean to frighten her. But she didn’t panic. She did everything exactly right. She should be so proud of herself for being such a smart girl. She says she loves him, and he says he loves her too, kissing the top of her head. Finn says he thinks it’s time for a certain young lady to get to bed, and Violet says, okay. She tells Gregory goodnight, and he says he’ll see her in the morning. She says goodnight to Finn and goes back to her room. Finn sits next to Gregory and asks if he’s feeling normal in his limbs. Gregory says he can’t let anything like this happen again. He won’t put Violet through that, and Finn says, she’s okay. She feels better now that she’s seen he’s better. Gregory says, maybe so, but he saw the panic in her eyes when they were alone. He’s just not going to be responsible for doing that to her again. Finn says, they’ll talk about it some more in the morning, and Gregory says, good. Where did Chase go?

Kristina tells Molly that her dad has done a lot of good, and she’s sick and tired of people constantly attacking him. Molly says, it’s just Josslyn. Kristina knows she hates Sonny. She and Josslyn have fought about her dad before. So the terrible things she said couldn’t have been that much of a surprise. Kristina says she guesses not, and Molly says, and Josslyn is not in a position of authority. All she can do is talk. She knows it’s hard, but try not to let Josslyn get to her so much. Kristina says she can’t. Josslyn went too far this time. Her dad protects his territory. He defends himself. He defends Port Charles. He doesn’t go after innocent people without provocation. That is not who her dad is.

Chase tells Tracy that his dad’s ALS symptoms have been getting worse, but this was by far the scariest health crisis. He tells Brook that he doesn’t see how he’s going to be able to officiate their wedding, and Brook says, that’s okay. They’ll figure out who else can do it and go from there. Lois says, the way she sees it, they have two options. They can find another officiant. She can call Father Tom at St. Anthony’s, see if he can fly up, or they can talk to the pastor here. Or they cancel the wedding… Tracy says, don’t be ridiculous. First of all, another officiant should be a last resort, and there will be no canceling of this wedding. They didn’t take Gregory to the hospital because they didn’t think it was necessary. He’s going to be fine the day of the wedding. And you can’t cut the man out of officiating at his own son’s wedding without talking to him first and getting his prognosis.

Jordan tells Drew that she didn’t know what to expect when she heard where this party was taking place, but she had fun tonight. He says, him too. He’s got to be honest; he was kind of dreading coming to a bachelor party because it’s not where his head is right now. But it is kind of fun to remember the nice perks of love and celebrate that. Jordan says, Chase is so happy. He practically glows when he talks about Brook. Drew says, she’s the same way when she talks about him. He can genuinely appreciate the reminder of the excitement that happens in a relationship before somebody gets their heart broken. She says, he was so close to saying something positive. She knows it’s hard right now, but he’ll get there eventually.

Dante tells Sam that he thinks he can understand a little bit about where Danny’s coming from, growing up without a dad. He had uncles and they all tried to do dad stuff with him, but it wasn’t the same. Then all he wanted was to know his dad and have his dad know him and be proud of him. Sam says she’s glad he and Sonny were able to make up for lost time, but the situations just aren’t the same. (Oh, really? Don’t we keep hearing how dangerous Sonny is?) He says, that may be the case, but Danny’s not a kid anymore. He’s going to form his own opinion about Jason. Unless she thinks Jason would manipulate Danny. She says, Jason is a lot of things, but manipulative isn’t one of them.

Jason tells Josslyn that he’s not close to Sonny anymore and can’t predict what he’s going to do. She thanks him for not telling her that she’s being too hard on Sonny, that she should be grateful for Sonny, and he thinks of her like his own daughter. Because if she hears that anymore, she’s going to scream. He says, she gets to feel what she feels, and she asks how he feels. Doesn’t it hurt him at how quickly Sonny was to believe he was the one who shot Dante? Does Jason hate Sonny for turning on him so quickly? Jason says, no, he doesn’t hate Sonny, and she says, that’s what she doesn’t understand. Because he treated Jason so badly and he should have known Jason wouldn’t hurt Dante. And Sonny’s always preaching about loyalty, yet he showed no loyalty to Jason. Doesn’t that make him angry? Jason says, Sonny’s never been a perfect person, but he’s changed. How he’s acting right now isn’t how he would have acted before. (Yeah, good point. Since this has happened at least twice before that I recall, how come nobody is immediately thinking about Sonny’s mental health?)

Brook says, they all want the wedding to go on as planned, but they have to be ready to adjust. So she’ll call the florist and the caterers in the morning and see what their options are in case Chase’s dad is too sick and they have to cancel the wedding. Lois says she can help, and Chase thanks her. He knows this is the last thing they were expecting tonight. Brook says, him either, when Tracy’s phone rings. She says, it’s Gregory, and asks if he’s all right. He says he is. He had a little episode earlier tonight, but he’s okay now. She says she’s so glad to hear that, and he thanks her. He says he knows his son is there, and she says, he’s right here. Does Gregory want to talk to him? Gregory says, actually, no. He wants her to tell Chase something for him. She says, okay, and he says he’s sure Chase and Brook are thinking about canceling the wedding – Finn listens in – but he wants her to tell them that he won’t stand for it.

Kristina tells Molly that she realizes her dad has been off lately, but that’s only because he’s so heartbroken about Nina. And he’s still trying to wrap his head around Jason coming back and the way Jason came back. It was so strange. And on top of that, he has Ava living in his penthouse saying God knows what to him. Molly says she’s sure it helps to have Kristina. He knows how much she loves and supports him. Kristina says, thanks. She hopes so. She gets up and says she needs to get home, take off this makeup, and take these shoes off. She’s going to put her feet up and maybe listen to those Tibetan temple bells Molly sent her. They’re surprisingly relaxing. Molly says, Mozart and Bach are good too, played at a very low volume, but Kristina says she’s going to stick to the bells. She thanks Molly and they hug. Kristina says she loves Molly so much and thanks Molly for being there for her.

Gregory tells Tracy that he refuses to let his illness derail their plans. There will be no cancelation of the wedding and there will be no replacing him either. He’s going to be fine that day if it kills him. And that’s not a joke. Standing in the doorway, Finn smiles, and Tracy tells the others, Gregory says, the wedding will go on as planned with him officiating. He is a grown man, and he knows his body and he knows what he can handle. You’re to stop treating him like a child. It’s disrespectful. Let him make his own decisions. She steps away and lowers her voice, telling Gregory that she embellished a little to make it sound better. He says he appreciates that. He plans to be on that altar marrying Chase and Brook. And if, God forbid, he has another episode, someone – Tracy perhaps – can go up there and read the pages he’s written. But everything is going to be fine that day and no one is going to be happier than him to watch his son and her granddaughter get married. Tracy says, okay, and tells Chase that he and Finn are their father’s greatest achievements. He’s been looking forward to this wedding since the day Chase proposed to Brook. He would be devastated if he were not there to officiate. So he’s ready and he can handle anything that happens with our help. So you’re to honor his wishes because that’s the way it should be. If you love him, you’ll listen to him. She tells Gregory, done, and he thanks her. Finn puts his hand on Gregory’s shoulder.

Anna asks if Dex is going to give up on becoming a cop because of an uncomfortable night, and he says, not a chance. She says, good. What he’s setting out to do is important. Society needs police officers for a reason, to have safe and livable neighborhoods and cities. It’s an important job. There are always going to be a few bullies no matter how hard they try to get rid of them, but he can’t let them get to him. He says he’ll do his best, and she says, that’s all she can ask. She thinks he’s going to prove to himself what kind of a person he is, and he’s going to do the same to the other officers. She tells him goodnight and leaves.

Drew says, the night really flew by, and asks if he can walk Jordan out. She says her Ride Share is almost here, and he knows she was a cop. She can take care of herself. He says he knows. That’s why he wants her protection. It can be dangerous out there at night. She says, come on, and they leave.

Sam tells Dante, it’s Jason’s openness and honesty that make him so approachable, but such a big threat at the same time. He’s cool. Jason gets it. Dante says, and that stings a little bit? and she says, yes. Of course (🍷) it does. She doesn’t want to not be the cool parent. She wants to be the fun parent, but no. She’s got to tell Danny that he’s got to do his homework and clean up his room. Dante says, that’s like a normal parent/child relationship. The parent sets the boundaries, and the teenager tests them. She says she knows, but Jason has no real experience at being Danny’s father. He doesn’t know what Danny needs yet. And the more time they spend together, she can feel Danny pulling back from her and she doesn’t want to lose her son. He says, she’s not going to lose her son. She and Danny are having a rough patch right now, that’s it. Danny loves her and he’s always going to love her. That’s not going to change. She takes his hand and says, promise? and he says, yeah. He promises. She says, okay. She’s going to choose to believe him… at least for tonight. He says, that’s good, and suggests they get out of here.

Jason says he’s going to get Josslyn back to the dorm, and she thanks him. She says she’s not going to get any sleep though. Every time she closes her eyes, she has this nightmare that she finds Dex, dead, and Sonny standing over him holding a gun, smiling. He says, nightmares are the worst, and she says, it’s all her fault. She should have never followed Dex when he left Port Charles. She should have just let him go, because then he’d be safe, and he’d be out of Sonny’s reach. Jason says he might not know Dex, but he knows her. And the fact that she cares about Dex this much, tells him that Dex is a good guy. So he’s going to make her a promise. He’s not going to let Sonny kill Dex. He’s going to watch. He’s going to listen. He’s going to keep a close eye on Sonny. He knows what to look for and he’s not going to let it happen. He will keep Dex safe. So she can get some sleep. She thanks him, and says, that’s not why she came here. Or maybe it was. Just, thank you. She hugs him.

Tomorrow, Ava tells Laura that spending time with Ace is someone’s way of clinging to the past (probably Heather); Molly tells TJ that this one isn’t their problem, it’s all Kristina; and Nina says she and Drew really were made for each other.

Congrats to these two. Robert Gossett has it tough, being up against Dick Van Dyke, who is nearly 100 years old. Awards committees do have a tendency to give the You-made-it-this-long Award over who should actually get it. I love Marshall’s scenes. He often makes me feel like I’m watching a play.

Even if she doesn’t get it, I hope her song does. Such an accomplished lady at such a young age. I was still playing with Barbies and putting on shows with my sister in the living room.

🎂 Sugar and Birthday Spice…

I’ve pledged my allegiance to the Spice Girls. While Geri is my personal favorite, Posh is a close second. It’s a shame her reality show, Victoria Beckham: Coming To America, wasn’t the smash it should have been. She’s very funny and down-to-earth, and it was so much better than watching people who have money and don’t deserve it throw things at each other.

The eclipsing event. I saw them in 2007 and they put on a fabulous show. Although the way ticket prices have gone through the roof, it’s doubtful I’ll be able to afford the next round.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

The Walking Dead

Carlson is a bloody mess in a tangle of the dead. Daryl stands there as troopers mark corpses. Daryl goes up to the roof, where, Lance is telling Aaron and Gabriel, this not a good look. It puts him in a tough spot. He wants to run through it again, just to make sure. So they walked into a tense firefight, where a bunch of crazed violent strangers killed all of his trained and armed soldiers, but not the one-armed guy and the priest? They escaped, called him, and here we are. That’s their story? Aaron says, that’s basically it, and Lance asks what Daryl thinks. Daryl says they’ve all been on the road a long time; they can handle themselves. If they say it happened, then it happened. Lance says he has another theory; hear him out. It doesn’t make sense for crazed violent strangers to leave them alive, unless they’re protecting those crazed violent strangers. Aaron asks if he’s calling them liars, and Gabriel says, Lance screwed up, and they barely survived. They’re not taking the fall for this. Lance says he’s not trying to ruffle any feathers. He’s just doing his job. At the end of the day, they want the same thing – justice. Aaron says, of course, and Lance tells the troopers, keep searching. There are still monsters on the loose, and they have to smoke them out… starting with Hilltop. They should at least know dangerous people might be headed their way. He tells Daryl, suit up, soldier, and Daryl looks at Aaron and Gabriel before following Lance back down.

The alarm clock goes off, and Princess tells Mercer that they’re pretty awesome at this sex thing. They’re both adults, and they’ve both had lots of sex. He says he loves listening to her talk, and she tells him,  dude, these crack of dawn super soldier wake ups suck ass. He seems like he’s always awake. She thinks he’s part robot. He says, she’s got him. Beep-beep-beep. They kiss, and Princess asks, what’s the deal with his eyes being open all night; is it some kind of meditation thing? He says, maybe he’s basking in the afterglow. He sleeps fine. She says, it didn’t look like basking; more like stewing. He asks if she’s getting at something, and she says she’s just making sure he’s cool. He says he’s fine, and she says, cool, but if he needs to get anything off his chest, contrary to popular opinion, she’s good at listening. He tells her that he said he’s fine, and she says, message received; loud and clear. See? She’s good at listening. The alarm goes off again, and she says he’s going to be late for work. She turns over as he gets up, but she doesn’t go back to sleep.

Eugene lets Kelly and Connie into his apartment, apologizing for the early hour, but the discussion isn’t ready for public broadcast. Connie signs, and Kelly asks if he’s okay. It seemed urgent. He says, Rosita had a harrowing experience on the job. We see Rosita beside him, and he says, Connie being a truth telling newsperson, he thought Rosita should give her the deets. Rosita says, she and Daryl were forced by Sebastian and his cronies to steal some cash. They found a woman there, and found out it had been done before, but no one ever made it out alive. The authorities wanted them to stay quiet, but she thinks about that woman and what she went through. There are good people here, and they need to know the truth. Connie signs, and Kelly hands Rosita the paper that had been slipped under Connie’s door. She says, it’s a list of names, people who are ex-troopers. They tried to investigate it further, but kept hitting dead ends. She points out April Martens on the list, and says, that’s her, right? Rosita says, there are more names than people who were sent. Maybe the two things are related, but they need to know more. Connie signs, and Kelly says, if the Miltons are involved,  they could keep those people locked up. They need inside access. Eugene says he might know someone who could provide that.

Carol sends Judith and RJ off to school, and RJ waves to Ezekiel. Ezekiel tells them, drink deep from the cup of knowledge and listen to their teachers. Carol tells him that he’s looking lively, and he says, losing a tumor the size of a grapefruit works wonders. He’s healing well. He’s been thinking about what she said about how he reacted. He never thanked her properly. She says he doesn’t have to, but he says he does. He can’t imagine the lengths she went to. He took her words to heart and he’s been doing something extra with the time he’s been given. He’d like to show her, but she says she can’t today; she’s swamped at work. He says, at the bakery? but she says, no, another job. It’s complicated. It all went sideways, and there are things she needs to figure out to fix it. It’s better he doesn’t know. Just trust her. He says he does trust her, more than anyone. You’d think this place would make life easier, but it feels like there’s more grey instead. Carol says, rain check? and he says, guaranteed. He’s getting healthy again. She’s stuck with him. She says she can live with that, and walks off.

Lance and his troopers come to a zombie conga line going across the road in the woods. Lance holds up his hand, signaling for them to stop, and tells Aaron and Gabriel to take care of it. He heard they can handle themselves. What’s the problem? They walk to the front, and Daryl goes with them. They approach the zombies, who are reforming into a group, and Aaron smashes the head right off of the first one with his mace hand. Gabriel slices the next one’s head in half diagonally, and Daryl shoots two with one bullet. Lance looks like he’s getting off on it, and when all the zombies are downed, Daryl says he saved Lance a bullet, and kicks a head over to him. Lance says, and barely broke a sweat. Nice. He tells the troopers, keep moving, and tells Daryl to put his helmet on. They keep walking, and arrive at Hilltop.

Ezekiel asks Tomi if it’s a bad time, and Tomi says, it’s not the best day, but lets him in. He asks if Ezekiel is feeling okay, but Ezekiel says, it’s about a friend who’s sick and can’t afford treatment. She needs a small procedure, and he was wondering if they could take care of it outside the system. Tomi asks what the procedure is, and Ezekiel says, an appendectomy. He has the necessary equipment, and has secured a sterile area, but they need some supplies. Tomi says, it’s risky, not just for the patient, but for everyone involved. Ezekiel says, she won’t change her mind, and they both understand the risks. He wouldn’t be approaching Tomi if this wasn’t their best option. Tomi says he lost a patient this morning, and that was here in a hospital, but Ezekiel says Tomi is the only one who can do this. Please.

At the town center, or whatever it is, loudspeakers tell everyone to do their part. If you see something, say something. Max sees Eugene and asks what he’s doing here. He tells her, what he needs to talk about required an immediate face-to-face, but he took precautions. He shows her the bag of groceries he’s carrying, and says he’s an ordinary delivery boy. They go to a supply room, and she says, he wants to her to steal secret files? They’re supposed to be staying out of trouble, not looking for it. Just when she thought things were finally going right. He says, Rosita was forced into a situation by Sebastian, and she says, this involved the Miltons? He says, so far, only the young psychopath. People have died, and more are missing. Her brother can corroborate it. He was there. A janitor comes in, and says, sorry, to interrupt, but Max says, the room is all his. She thanks Eugene, taking the bag and giving him a tip, and leaves.

At Hilltop, Lance looks up to see Maggie and Elijah on the wall, and says, good to see you. Maggie asks what he wants, and he says, there are killers on the loose. They’ve lost a lot of men, and he’s hunting them down and the Commonwealth property they stole. Maggie says she doesn’t know anything about it, and Lance says, then she wouldn’t mind if he has a quick look around… to rule them out… for the paperwork. She says she gave him her answer, and Lance looks pissed. He says something to a soldier, and Daryl walks up. He says Lance is going to get people killed if he forces his way in. Lance says he doesn’t have much choice, but Daryl says, let him talk to her. They go in, and nobody gets hurt. Deal? Daryl approaches, and Maggie says, it doesn’t have to be this way. He takes off his helmet, and says, yeah, it does. Nobody is leaving until they look around, but he promises it will be quick. She asks if he expects her to trust Lance, but he says he ain’t asking that. He’s asking her to trust him. She looks at Aaron and Gabriel, and the gate opens. The troopers go in, Daryl nods to Maggie.

Max asks Mercer, whose first name is apparently Mike, what’s going on? He asks her to be specific, and she says, Sebastian pulled a heist, and people went missing. He says it sounds like she already knows, but she says she wants to hear it from him. Why did he keep it from her? He works out with kettlebells while he’s talking, and he says, it’s none of her business. What does she want him to say? This place is not perfect? They’re lucky to be here? None of that sh*t is new. It’s part of his job. She asks if that makes everything okay, but he says, no. People lost their lives because he failed them. He missed it, and it’s his weight to carry, not hers. She says she’s not a little kid. He doesn’t need to play big brother. He tells her, says the girl who was almost caught on the radio a few months ago. He doesn’t want to fight with her. She says, then let her help, but he says, forget it; he fixed it. She says, what about Sebastian? How is it okay letting him walk free? He says, there are 50,000 other lives he’s got to think about. If he goes after Sebastian, what happens to them? Does she think they’re going to let that kind of insubordination slide? What if he disappears? Who keeps this place running? If the Commonwealth falls, more people will die. She says, not everyone views lives as acceptable losses, and he tells her to take it up with her boss. She says, the community listens to him; they look up to him. He says, he’s just a soldier, but she says, he could be more. He could change this place. Then again, maybe she’s just being naïve. Maybe he’s just a poser. She leaves, and he drops the weights he was lifting.

Ezekiel and Tomi get the supplies they need. A soldier goes by the door, and they duck out of sight. Tomi tells Ezekiel that the troopers should move on soon, and they can head to the loading dock. Ezekiel says, for a guy who was worried about coloring outside the lines, Tomi knows what he’s doing, and seems to be enjoying it. Tomi says he did his share of rebellion back in the day. This place has a way of lulling you, and you think, why upset the applecart? Lance says he’s keeping them safe, but is he protecting others or himself? They slip out, and as they round the corner, run straight into a trooper.

Lance uncovers a truck, and asks if it’s new. Maggie says she’s converting the engine, but it doesn’t run. He says, they found tire tracks near the ambush, and not many cars are running these days. Daryl tells him, if he has something to say, just say it, and Lance says, he comes from a long line of gearheads (which I find hard to believe). Does she mind? He looks under the hood, and says, it’s clean for a truck that just sits here; It looks good, and they left a lot of fuel here last time. He looks at something, and says, no wonder it won’t work. The starter relay is disconnected. He hooks it back up, and puts the hood down. He says, let’s test it out, and see if he has the magic touch. He gets in, and turns the key, but nothing happens. He tries a few times, and Maggie walks over to him, and says, you have until sundown. Then you and your people can be on your way. Lance looks at Daryl, who looks disgusted. Lance can’t figure it out.

Tomi and Ezekiel sit at a table, in custody. A trooper opens the door, and Carol comes in. She tells the trooper that she can handle them from here, and thanks him for his discretion. He leaves, and Ezekiel says he was hoping her new job had connections. Tomi asks if they’re screwed, but she says, don’t worry; she has it handled. Is Ezekiel trying to get into more trouble? Ezekiel says, not all trouble is bad trouble. Since he’s already pulled her out of work, what’s a few more minutes?

Ezekiel leads Carol through the animal stalls, and Tomi says, please tell him that his friend is human. Ezekiel goes to a structure that says, veterinary treatment, and inside is a clinic where people are waiting. Carol says, he really has been busy, and Ezekiel says he has a debt to repay. Tomi’s patient Theresa is in the back. They go into another area.

Mercer sees Princess in the hallway, and asks if she’s got a minute. She says, for him, she’s got two, and he says he wanted to apologize for earlier. This whole thing is new to him. Not the sex part, but …. us. She kisses him, and says, listen. She’s got a special sense when somebody is not okay. She’s had a lot of firsthand experience. She might put out a totally sexy carefree fun times vibe, but she can handle the heavy stuff… in case he ever needs it. He says, he killed two of his men and covered it up. He never thought he’d be that guy. That’s not how he was raised. He didn’t cross certain lines… until now. What’s really messing with his head and keeps him up is, he keeps thinking he’d do it again. He’s spent a long time trying to keep it together, be solid for everyone else. It’s all he knows, and he’s good at it, but maybe this place needs something else. Maybe he’s part of the problem. He’s tired. Princess kisses his hand, and suggests they go inside and figure it out together. He nods.

Herschel walks out of the graveyard, and sees Lance poking around behind a building. Lance says he doesn’t know if Herschel remembers him. He heard Herschel has an exciting life. Has he taken any exciting trips lately? Herschel doesn’t say anything, and Lance asks, how about his mom? The last thing Lance would want is for something to happen, especially to Herschel’s mom. He needs Herschel’s help. If he can get the truth, he can fix things. That’s what he does, but he can’t keep people safe if they keep secrets. Think hard. Is there anything Herschel wants to tell him? Herschel says he probably should get his mom, but Lance gets in front of him, and says, Herschel is a good kid. He’s a brave kid. The thing about good kids is, they deserve presents. He found this hat where bad things happened. He takes out Herschel’s baseball cap, and says, it would be a shame to let it go to waste. He puts it on Herschel, and says, he’ll be damned; a perfect fit. What are the odds? Elijah flies in out of nowhere, slamming Lance up against the building. There’s shouting, and the troopers run over, guns drawn, along with Maggie and Daryl, who also have their guns drawn. A trooper tells Elijah to release Lance or he’ll shoot, and Herschel tells Maggie that Lance said something bad was going to happen. Maggie tells Lance, plenty of others have made the mistake of threatening her family, and most of them are dead. Daryl tells Lance, he found nothing, so unless he wants to die for nothing, tell them to drop their guns before something really f***ing bad is going to happen. The F-bomb has officially been dropped by Daryl on sort-of network TV, and the Twitterverse goes wild. Lance says, sorry for the miscommunication, and they leave. BTW, closed captions actually spelled it out too.

Daryl, Aaron, and Gabriel sit around a fire in the woods, and Daryl says, they’re not going back to the Commonwealth. Lance is going to keep searching. Aaron says, if they can’t give him the killers, maybe they can find the guns and buy time. Something is about to go down. Daryl tells them to keep their eyes open. Lance tells a trooper to find something.

Carol says Ezekiel did good, and he says, Theo did most of the hard work, but he admits he feels special. After all they’ve been through, and as close as he came, he got a fresh start. It’s important to him that his friend knows how much he appreciates her. Carol says, it must feel good, and he asks, what’s going on? Carol says she was thinking about the world, and he says, that’s a big subject. Anything specific? She says, the years… the darkness… After everything, in the midst of everything, he’s there, glowing. The light suits him. Ezekiel says, it came from a spark that she helped him find. He says, the darkness is heavy. Some carry more than others, because they’re strong enough to hold the weight. They make the light; she makes the light. She says he knows they’re not getting back together, right? and he laughs. He says, she keeps saying that. Someone runs over, and tells Ezekiel that Theo says he needs to come back; Theresa’s appendix burst. Ezekiel and Carol run back to the makeshift OR, and Tomi puts Ezekiel on breathing duty. He sends Theo to get more antibiotics, and Carol puts in gauze when necessary. I find it amusing that, with all the gore on this show, I’m grossed out watching him do surgery. Tomi tells Ezekiel that he’s doing good, and says, they have to flush the cavity. He asks Carol for saline, and the next thing we know, he’s sewing Theresa up. He says they’ll know more in the next 24 hours, but it looks good. Ezekiel says, see? A small procedure. Nothing to worry about.

Max goes to Eugene’s apartment, and asks if they can talk. He says, he regrets his earlier ambush. It was mighty uncool of him. Max says, stuff is happening, and it’s bad. He tells her, it’s not his intention to put her in a tough spot. If this makes her uncomfortable… She says, it does; sneaking around when she’d hoped things were going back to normal. Maybe she’s not built for this, but she doesn’t thinks he has a choice. He says, of course she does. They can find another avenue. She says, that’s not what she meant. She has no choice because there is no back to normal. They know what they know, and because of that, things have to change. They can’t wait for someone else to step up and help. He takes her hand, and says he can promise her this. Whatever they find, whatever comes their way, she won’t be alone. He’ll be by her side, come hell or high water. Against all odds of the cosmos and humankind, they found each other. He was never more certain of anything. They kiss, and she says, so what does she need to steal?

In the woods, Leah loads bunch of guns, and sets them up in a semicircle. She goes inside a small tent, and closes it. Some troopers come by, and open the tent, but it’s empty, and the guns start shooting, hitting a couple of troopers. Lance says, he’s here to talk; hold your fire. He’s come long way to find her. She’s not easy to track down, and since she’s caused him more than a handful of trouble, at least hear what he has to say before she kills them. Leah comes out of the woods, her gun ready. She says, talk fast, and he says, his name is Lance Hornsby, and he’s here to offer her a job.

Next time, Maggie says, it’s not ending until she ends it; Aaron says, they’ll fight their way out; Lance says, Leah gets to scout for the woman who killed her family, and he gets to do his job without interference; and Leah suits up to go hunting.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Josslyn comes into the hospital, Trina and Cameron on either side, helping her. She says they didn’t need to bring her there, but Trina says she can’t walk. Cameron says they shouldn’t have let her convince them that playing was a good idea. Josslyn says, it was just a warm up. She needs to prove to her coach that she’s good enough. She limps away, and runs into Portia.

Ava tells Nikolas that she knows he returned Cyrus’s mother back to him, so Cyrus would offer Alexis protection in Pentenville. He asks if she’s upset, but she says, upset is not the word. He asks, what is? and she says she’s terrified.

Alexis scrubs a floor. Hey, I have that same bucket, but mine doesn’t say Pentenville on it. A man suddenly stands over her.

At the MetroCourt, Obrecht suggests she and Scotty get a secluded table, on the off-chance Britt wasn’t exaggerating about a threat. He asks if she thinks the threat is real, and she says, of course (🍷). He says he thought it was a ploy to spend more time with him, and she asks if he thinks she needs a ploy. He asks if she had a good time, and she says, it’s true. She quite enjoys his company. Laura walks in, startled to see them together.

Brick asks Carly about the security accounts, but she says she’ll have Spinelli deal with that. He asks if she’s sure he’s up to it, and she says she is. She’d be nervous if Spinelli was holding a gun, or driving a getaway car, but as far as getting into the mainframe at GH, he’s almost Britt’s equal. Almost. If Sonny was there, he’d be going to the meeting with the Five Families Italian ices, but Jason is going to do that. Jason has to go. She needs him there, and not in prison. Brick says he’s glad she asked for his help.

Sam tells Danny that Jason will only be at the hospital temporarily, and he’ll have to go back to prison. Danny says he knows. Until the trial. She says she wants him to be prepared. There’s a guard outside Jason’s room, who will only let in family, and just so he knows, Jason will be handcuffed to the bed. He says he can handle that. He just wants to see his dad.

Britt tells Jason that she checked Cyrus’s schedule, and he’s in Rochester, so they have some breathing room. He says, good, and she asks how he’s feeling. He says, fully recovered, and she says, good timing. Carly called her earlier, and she’s putting the plan in motion. They’ll be able to break him out tonight.

In an examining room, Josslyn says she can’t believe Trina told her mom, but Trina says her mom works there. She saw them. Portia comes in, and says she hopes Josslyn didn’t get the injury playing volleyball; she was instructed not to play. Josslyn says, no. She was walking by herself in the park, when she accidentally stepped in a hole and rolled her ankle. She was sitting there, trying to loosen it, and Trina and Cameron found her. Portia asks how long Josslyn was there, and Cameron says, that’s why they brought her in. It could be serious. Josslyn says, it’s no big deal, but Portia says they won’t know without some tests. She’s sending Josslyn for an MRI.

Nikolas says he thought Ava was fearless. Why is she terrified? She says, as much as she doesn’t want to think about it, Cyrus bombed The Floating Rib, and used her brother to do it. She’s worried that, before they have a chance to renew their vows, Nikolas will be six feet under, and Cyrus will be responsible. He says, the circumstances are entirely different. Julian was desperate, and had nothing to offer Cyrus. Cyrus sought Nikolas out, and Nikolas gave him something that he tried and failed to get himself. If anything, Cyrus owes him. She says, he’s proven himself useful. She doesn’t think Cyrus will let him go. She happens to love him, and she’s so scared for him. He says, don’t be. He has too much to live for now, and won’t let Cyrus hurt either one of them.

Scotty takes Laura aside, and says he and Obrecht are friends. She asks if he thinks that’s wise, given what Obrecht is responsible for, and he says, what can he tell her? It just happened. She says she can see why they’re drawn to each other. They’re both grieving Franco, and have that connection. He says, she’s right, and she says, she’s not there to judge, but please, be careful. She tells Obrecht, good morning, and apologizes for not greeting her earlier. She was… surprised. Obrecht says she was equally surprised, and tells Laura to call her Liesl. Laura says, okay, Liesl. She’ll see her around. She leaves, and Obrecht says she admires the mayor for many reasons. She knows Laura dislikes her, but she’s withholding judgement. Laura is a woman of discernment and character. Scotty says, Laura is a wonderful girl. She would probably like Obrecht if she got to know her. Obrecht says, perhaps they’ll have a chance after the danger has passed, and she’s in the clear. He asks where the danger is coming from, and she says she doesn’t know, but she intends to find out.

Britt tells Jason that her mother agreed to lie low, although a part of her wants to see Cyrus go after Obrecht. As big and bad as he thinks he is, he’s no match for her. Jason asks if she’s proud of Obrecht, and she says, in a lot of ways. While she disagrees completely with some of Obrecht’s choices, she’d be the first to acknowledge Obrecht has lived life on her own terms; no excuses, no apologies. It didn’t make for a warm and fuzzy childhood, but it made her resilient. She wonders how she got off on this tangent, and Jason says she was talking about warning her mother. Is there anyone else Cyrus could target to get to her? She says she’s drowning in friends and family. There’s Maxie, but since Peter and Cyrus are now a twisted version of the frat boys from hell, she thinks Maxie is okay. Hopefully, Cyrus has no idea Brad is her friend, but other than that, there’s no one she has to worry about. he says, except herself, and she says she told him that she’s doing this. He’s not talking her out of it for her own good. His selfless nobility is already getting on her last nerve; it’s annoying enough. Sam brings Danny in, and he hugs Jason.

Carly tells Brick that they have someone at the hospital to keep Cyrus diverted. He asks if it’s Epiphany, but she says, Britt Westbourne; she’s the Chief of Staff. He says she doesn’t mess around, and she says, Britt isn’t her favorite person, but Jason trusts her. He says, that will be a big help, but they have another obstacle – Cyrus. They have to make sure Cyrus doesn’t get away. She says she thinks she has that covered, and he says, does she? Is it foolproof?

Nikolas tells Ava that he doesn’t expect Cyrus to be on the guest list for their wedding, but she says, Cyrus wants to be a fine, upstanding citizen; he’s going to want an invite. If he doesn’t get one, she’s sure he’ll find a way to wrangle himself in. Nikolas says there’s someone he can guarantee won’t be attending – Spencer. She asks if they spoke, and he says Spencer still isn’t taking his calls. He got a terse email saying not to expect him to come home anytime soon. She says she’s sorry. She knows she’s a factor in their estrangement. He says, a small factor. He’s the one who let his son believe he was dead for years. He didn’t tell Spencer that he survived the shooting. He was too busy with getting revenge against Valentin, and reclaiming his inheritance. His mother thinks his deal with Cyrus is proof of him backsliding, but she’s wrong. He saw the fallout, and learned his lesson about what it cost the people he loves. He wouldn’t act that way again. She says, she thinks Laura is just concerned. Cyrus gets people to do things they wouldn’t normally do. He says, as long as she’s by his side, he wouldn’t.

Alexis asks if she’s doing something wrong, and the man (the warden?) says, no. He has news for her. She’s been reassigned work duty. She says, so soon? What’s her new job? He motions her to follow.

Danny tells Jason, Scout wanted to come, but mom said she was too young to understand. He says, good call. Tell Scout he thinks about her all the time. Is Danny watching out for his sister? Danny says, of course (🍷); he promised he would. Britt and Sam go out to the hallway, and Danny says, it’s not fair that Jason is locked to the bed, but Jason says, it’s just protocol. Danny says, it’s a big mistake. Jason didn’t do what the police said he did. He’d never hurt Jake’s stepdad. Jason says he didn’t kill Franco, and Danny says he wishes everyone believed that. Jake is having a rough time with Cameron. Jason says, Cameron is dealing with losing Franco, who was like a father to him. Just be there for them if they need him. Danny says, sure thing. What happens next?

Britt says she wants Sam to know that Jason is fine, and Sam says, it was bad enough for Jason to be sent to GH. Britt says the Pentenville infirmary wasn’t equipped to handle Jason’s injury, and Sam says Jason recovered quickly. Britt says, she’s kept him as long as she can. She expects he’ll be discharged tonight. Sam says Britt is Chief of Staff. Is she acting as Jason’s primary doctor? Britt says, yes. Does Sam have a problem with that?

Josslyn is wheeled into Portia’s office, and Trina asks if it’s that bad. Cameron asks how she’s feeling, but Portia requests they wait outside so she can speak to Josslyn privately. Trina says they’ll be out in the hall, and they leave. Portia says, the good news is, Josslyn’s ankle isn’t broken. Josslyn says, that means she’s cleared to play, right? but Portia says the MRI showed that Josslyn was millimeters away from tearing her ATF ligament. She’s sorry, but Josslyn’s volleyball season is over.

Ava opens the door, and Cyrus is there. He says, Ms Jerome… or should I say, Mrs. Cassadine? He hopes she can make some time for him.

Josslyn asks Portia if she really can’t play. She’s already packed for the tournament. Portia says she knows it’s a disappointment, but Josslyn can’t play for at least four weeks. That means no running, or athletics of any kind. She’s going to fit Josslyn for an ankle boot. She can walk with it, and it will lessen the pain and take the stress off her ligament. She’s sorry. She tells Josslyn to stay in the chair until she gets back. She opens the door, and Cameron and Trina are right there. Portia tells them that Josslyn could use the company, and Cameron asks why there are security guards all over the place. What’s going on? Portia says she thought Josslyn would have told them. Jason was injured in Pentenville, and he’s upstairs. They go in, and Cameron asks if Josslyn knew Jason was a patient, and Josslyn says, yeah. He asks why she didn’t tell them, and she asks if he thinks that would have been a good idea. They called a truce. Why start an argument by bringing up Jason? Cameron says, she’s probably right. His shift is gong to start soon. He hopes Josslyn feels better. The next time he sees her, he expects her to be holding a trophy. He leaves, and Trina asks if Josslyn wants to tell her about the weirdness going on with Cameron. Josslyn says, Cameron is the least of her problems. Trina’s mom just told her that her volleyball season is over. She can’t play in the tournament. She can’t prove herself, and lost the only shot she has for playing with the best V-1 team in the country.

Sam asks if Britt is sure she wants to be Jason’s doctor, and Britt says she wouldn’t have it any other way. Britt’s phone rings, and she steps away.

Jason tells Danny that he’s not sure how it’s going to shake out, but he doesn’t want Danny to worry; he’ll be fine. Sam comes in, and asks how it’s going. Jason says, good. Danny says he was asking when Jason will get out of prison; when he’ll be found innocent. Jason says he told Danny that he’s sorry, but he doesn’t have a timeline. It’s one of those times he has to be patient. He promises he’ll find a way out. Danny says, but he doesn’t know when, even though he’s innocent. Jason says, that’s the most important thing. No matter what happens, he didn’t kill Franco, and he’s going to prove it.

Brick tells Carly, Cyrus wants to eliminate Jason; he’s not playing. It could happen at any given moment, even tonight. Carly says she was hoping Cyrus would be too busy tonight to go after Jason (like Cyrus does his own dirty work). The doorbell rings, and Carly opens the door to Laura, thanking her for coming. There’s somebody she wants Laura to meet. She introduces Laura to Brick, who says, it’s an honor and a privilege. Laura wonders about his last name, but he says, it’s just Brick. Like Prince or Elvis, but he prefers Prince. Carly says, Brick is a close family friend, and Laura says, the family could use a friend right now. Brick says, Sonny was crazy about Laura, and Laura says she was fond of Sonny too. Carly says, Brick helped when Sonny was looking for Dante in Turkey, and Brick says he’s glad Dante found his way back. Laura says, he had a few good moments with Sonny, but not enough. Brick says, it’s never enough. He’s got to go; he has work to do. He tells Carly that he’ll be in touch, and thanks Laura, telling her to keep up the great work she’s doing in Port Charles. He leaves, and Laura says, Brick is quite charming, but she knows Carly didn’t invite her over for a meet and greet. What’s this about?

Cyrus says, of course (🍷) he’s delighted to see Ava, but he was hoping for a word with her husband. She says Cyrus just missed Nikolas, and he says he wanted to thank Nikolas personally for his invaluable help in returning his mother to him. He can’t tell her how much it means to have his mother nearby, and knowing she’s safe. Ava says she’s glad Florence didn’t suffer when she was away. Now if they’re through… He says they’re not through, and she says she doesn’t understand. Nikolas said Alexis would get protection in Pentenville in exchange for finding Cyrus’s mother, which he’s done. End of story. Cyrus says, it’s never that simple with him.

Alexis goes to the visitor room, and sees Nikolas. He says he’s happy to see her; she looks good. How is she doing? She says, good. She’s working the program, and he’ll be happy to know she hasn’t been tempted to drink the toilet wine. He tells her, steer clear, even if it’s a good vintage. What else? She says she got a new work assignment in the library. It’s a cushy gig. He says, good, and she says she knows what he did. He traded favors with Cyrus, and she wants to know how much of his soul he traded to keep her safe.

Carly says, the second Nikolas turned over Cyrus’s mother to him, they lost their leverage. Laura says she knows. For what it’s worth (🍷), she fought with Nikolas about it. Obviously, she wasn’t able to change his mind. Cyrus got his mother back. Carly says, it’s over. They’ll have to find another way to soften Cyrus. Laura says she’d like to hear how they do that, and Carly tells her, she said herself that she’s Cyrus’s weakness. Cyrus wants a relationship with her; maybe some of her integrity and respectability will rub off on him. Laura says, he’s delusional, and Carly says, but maybe they can use it to their advantage. Laura asks, how? and Carly asks if there’s any way Laura can appear to soften toward Cyrus. Give him the attention he so desperately craves. For the greater good.

Nikolas tells Alexis, don’t be dramatic. His soul had little to do with the quid pro quo. She asks him to tell her what did, and he says he knew Cyrus had connections in Pentenville; an entire network of staff and prisoners who could make Alexis’s life difficult. He’s guessing that happened early on. She asks what Nikolas had to do on his end to accommodate Cyrus, and he says, return Cyrus’s mother. She asks what he means. Where is she? He says, Carly and Jason took her from the assisted living home she was in, and were holding her as leverage. Cyrus just got her back.

Ava says, Nikolas saw to it that Cyrus’s mother was safely returned. What more could Cyrus possibly want? He says, what he wants isn’t tangible, like goods or money. He wants a relationship, a family. Laura is his sister, which makes Nikolas his nephew. Ava is his niece-in-law, so to speak. She says, technically, she supposes that’s true, and he says, Laura has never been truly open to bonding as a family, but since the deal with Nikolas was mutually beneficial, he’s hoping she’ll be more receptive to a connection in the future. Family. It’s the most important thing, isn’t it?

Danny leaves, and Sam says Britt told her Jason should be released later. He asks what she heard, and she says, if someone is trying to kill him in Pentenville, he’ll probably get hurt or worse. Please tell her what’s going on. Is the hospital stay part of a bigger set-up?

Scotty walks into the hospital with Obrecht, and she says no need to accompany her. He says, Britt told her that she was in danger, so he’ll be there to protect her. She says, most of the time, it’s other people who need protection from her, and he says he’s going to shadow her, so she knows he has her back. She says, if he insists. Nevertheless, he’ll just be a distraction.

Britt finds a custodian coming out of her office, and he says, all done. She says she told him to take his time, and winks. He leaves, and she goes into her office, followed closely by Obrecht, who startles her. Obrecht asks, what’s going on? Why is she in danger? Does it concern Peter? Britt says, in part, and Obrecht asks what that schwein has done now. Britt says, all Obrecht needs to know is that she’s doing a favor for Jason. Obrecht suggests they leave the country.

Trina wonders what about Josslyn’s academics? but Josslyn says, Southern Coastal has the best volleyball program in the country. They don’t need to take her. Her only shot was to stand out at the tournament, and she just blew it. Trina says she knows Josslyn is disappointed, but wait and see. They’ll tear up PCU. Josslyn can look through the catalog at the tournament. She’s sure Josslyn will find something that interests her. Josslyn says she’s not going to the tournament, but Trina says, they’re her teammates. Doesn’t she want to cheer them on? Josslyn says, they need her, and she can’t play. She’s letting them down. Trina thinks they need a break from Port Charles, and Josslyn says, she’s right. They should definitely go somewhere else. Trina says, like where? and Josslyn says she has an idea.

On the phone, Josslyn says she’ll let Jax know what they decide. She tells Trina, her dad is still in Pennsylvania, a place called Nixon Falls. He hurt himself, and can’t fly. Trina asks how badly he’s hurt, but Josslyn tells her, he didn’t say, and she didn’t ask. He’ll need a ride back, so they can pick him up. Trina doesn’t think her mom will be up for that, and Josslyn tells her, get permission to go to the volleyball game, and they’ll go to Pennsylvania instead. Trina asks if she’s supposed to lie to her mom, but Josslyn says, it’s different from lying. She’s just not telling her mom. It’s not like they’re getting fake IDs and going to bars. They’re just taking a quick road trip to pick up her dad. She needs the distraction. Trina asks if it will get Josslyn out of her bad mood, and Josslyn says, it will help. Portia brings in a boot for Josslyn to try on, and Trina says she and Josslyn have decided to go to the tournament to support Josslyn’s teammates. Is that okay?

Obrecht tells Britt that she must get as far away from Jason as possible. He attracts violence and trouble. He’s a magnet for danger. Britt says, calm down. It’s the people who are after Jason who pose a danger. Obrecht says, Jason is equal to a bobsled run. Where should they go? Perhaps Australia; the Great Barrier Reef. Britt says, she has responsibilities, and Obrecht says, more than her own well-being? Britt says, she has patients, and she can’t leave Maxie. Obrecht agrees that Maxie needs Britt, and Britt says she can look out for herself. Where is Obrecht hiding out? There’s a knock at the door, and Britt points out that someone actually knocked. It’s Scotty, and she asks what he wants. He says he wants to help. He’s there to insure her mother’s protection, and Obrecht smiles.

Sam says she knows Jason has something planned, and Jason says, the best thing he can give her is deniability. If something happens, and there’s an investigation, she has nothing to hide. Sam says, says he’s right. She has to put Danny and Scout first. It’s the choice she made.

Laura asks if Carly has any idea what she’s asking. Cyrus showed up, pressuring her to get his mother back. When she told him that she couldn’t help, he accused her of taking sides in a turf war. He said if blood ran in the streets of Port Charles, it was on her hands. Carly says she doesn’t want a war; she wants the opposite, to contain Cyrus. Laura is the only one who engages him. Laura says she may be able to engage him, but she has no ability to influence him for the better. He likes the idea of having her for a sister, but has no interest in what she says. She’s like a trophy; the one thing he can’t have. Carly says, that’s what makes her irresistible, and it’s exactly what they need for a few hours; Cyrus occupied and his attention on Laura. Laura asks where his attention would be otherwise, and Carly asks Laura to trust her in this situation. What she doesn’t know, can’t hurt her.

Alexis says, Carly and Jason were holding a fragile, elderly woman hostage? but Nikolas says, she was never at risk. She was in a private home, and Bobbie Spencer was her caregiver. She says, they were using her as leverage to keep Cyrus in check. Now that Nikolas has unleashed him, he’s put Sonny’s family, which means Kristina, vulnerable to retaliation. He says he did it for her, but she says she didn’t ask him to. Now he’s in debt to Cyrus. Does he know what that means? He says, it’s nothing he can’t handle, and she says, he’s influential and rich, and now he’s under Cyrus’s thumb. This might be the first step, but it’s not the last. He says he won’t leave Alexis alone. He’s not so naïve to think Cyrus got what he wanted, and is going to go away. She asks what he can do to stop Cyrus, and he says Cyrus has no idea what he’s capable of. If Cyrus crosses him, he won’t win. The benefits of protecting Alexis outweigh the risks. He wants her to find some peace in knowing he made it safer for her in there.

Ava tells Cyrus that she’s sure her husband has an opinion on furthering a relationship with his new uncle. She trusts Nikolas will see the advantage in everything Cyrus did to help protect his aunt in Pentenville. Cyrus says, that’s the thing about cooperation and open mindedness. It makes the world safer; not just for them, but for those they hold dear. She says she’ll tell Nikolas that he came by, and he picks up a photo, saying, a little angel. He assumes it’s Avery. She’s adorable, and bears a striking resemblance to her late father. He hands Ava the picture, and leaves. She looks at Avery’s photo.

Britt asks, are you two for real? and Obrecht says, Scotty is quite chivalrous. Scotty says, danke, and Britt says she thought when Obrecht stayed with Scotty, she just didn’t want anyone to know she was in town. Obrecht says, they were capable roommates, but things change. Britt looks shocked, and Obrecht tells her not to be so scandalized. She’s a healthy woman with desires. Why not have fun? Britt should try it sometime. She works too much. Britt says she’s fine, and clearly, so is Obrecht. Scotty says, she is fine, and Obrecht says, danke. As for Britt, be careful. She couldn’t bear if anything happened to Britt. Britt promises to be careful, and Obrecht tells Scotty, let’s go. They happily dance out the door. They are really cute.

Alexis tells Nikolas, she doesn’t know what to say. She doesn’t like what he did, but she’s appreciative and grateful. The minute she got there, she was in trouble. One mention of Cyrus’s name, and she was safe. He says, that’s a good thing. It made him more motivated to rescue Cyrus’s mother. She thanks him, and he says he can’t let anything happen to her. He needs her in his life, and so does the rest of the family.

Sam tells Jason, just because the kids’ safety is her priority, doesn’t mean she doesn’t care. Whatever he’s planning, please be careful. Don’t put himself in a situation that makes anything worse. The kids miss him enough as it is.

Portia tells Josslyn, don’t even think of playing, but Josslyn says, of course (🍷) not. She learned her lesson. She thanks Portia, who says, of course (🍷). Portia leaves, and Trina says she thinks they’re overdue for a road trip. She asks if Josslyn needs to call her mom, but Josslyn says she told her mom goodbye when she left the house, before she destroyed her dream. Trina says, as soon as you embrace failure, it leads to greatness, and Josslyn says, no more moping. Nixon Falls, here we come.

Cameron goes into Jason’s room.

The custodian calls Cyrus, and says, Britt was right where Cyrus said she would be – Jason’s room.

Laura tells Carly, in her position… She’ll do what she can to make up for Nikolas returning Florence, and so what she can to distract the bad guy they need to stop. Carly says she really needs Laura to spend time with Cyrus tonight. The doorbell rings, and it’s Ava. Carly says, not right now, but Ava says, it can’t wait. It’s about Avery. She’s in trouble.

Tomorrow, Maggie tells Alexis that special treatment can put a target on her back, Jax has to decline, and Ava says she’s not there to ask for help, but offer it.

🏖 The piece of trash that was the Oh God Make It Stop Summer House: Reunion Part One, was even worse than the actual show. Hannah was immediately slut shamed for liking Luke at the same time she was talking to other guys (gasp!), and we were off to a great start. Lindsay said she felt bad a little bit after watching her atrocious treatment of Stephen on her birthday. Andy said it seemed like Kyle and Amanda had changed, and Carl said Amanda held Kyle accountable. Then everyone made a bunch of excuses for Kyle’s drinking. Kyle wouldn’t let Hannah finish a sentence, caused her to cry, and then asked if she went to acting school. Good luck with that POS, Amanda. Lindsay proved once again how much she needs therapy, by acting like a less-than-basic bitch. Because Hannah continually pointed out that we live in a toxic, misogynistic society, Kyle said Hannah used buzzwords to make the men in her life look bad. I guess it never occurred to him that they look bad all on their own, and she just notices. Danielle said Hannah had created the things that happened to her, and she wasn’t a good friend. Baby Kyle got up, saying he needed a minute, and pointed his finger at Hannah the whole time he was walking away. I’m guessing he went to pee in the bushes, since he’s always looking for a new spot to mark his territory. Literally.

Next time, the Luke and Lindsay question, Carl talks about going down a dark path, Luke has something to say, and Hannah leaves in tears.

📺 Tonight on For Real: The Story of Reality TV, it was the topic of Shock and Awe. I came in a little late, but early enough to catch the disgusting things people had to eat on Fear Factor, like a whole rat being smoothied. I mentally renamed the show The Dumbest Sh*t Ever. I never once saw Lovelines with Dr. Drew Pinsky, but apparently, it was shocking at the time. Before Sex in the City covered every sex topic that ever existed. They showed clips from surgery shows, like Botched and Dr. Pimple Popper, as well as I Am Cait and I Am Jazz, which followed the stories of transgender women Caitlyn Jenner and Jazz Jennings. The saddest thing were the insults Jazz had to endure at such a young age, but I did think if I heard the word journey one more time, I might scream. RuPaul’s Drag Race, which I love, and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, which I’ve blessedly never seen, rounded out the episode. Mama June also made a virtual appearance, and told the audience that she’d spent $600K on cocaine. Good to hear she knows the value of a dollar. As Melissa Rivers said, one thing about reality television is, you’re life could be a lot worse. You could be Mama June. Next time, the biggest stars who have been launched from reality TV.

🍸 On Overserved, LVP’s guests were Mario Lopez and his wife Courtney, and Sheryl Underwood. The theme was a Traditional English Roast, with dishes LVP said she served at Christmas. They started off by playing Rosé Pong, which didn’t quite seem to have a point. Mario poured rosé into a champagne glass tower, and while the object was to get a ball into one of the glasses, the game seemed to have no rules or consequences for losing. Speaking of glasses, the wine glasses at the dinner table were ginormous, and LVP proved one of them could hold two bottles of wine. The standard I only had one drink joke was made. They played Get Pumped, and had spotted dick for dessert. You can take your pick of jokes about that. We also found out that Mario and Courtney’s daughter walked in on them having sex in a guest bedroom when they thought she was zooming school. Oops. I just love this show. LVP is the consummate hostess, even doing her own cooking, the guests are intelligent and fun, and of course there are the dogs, ponies, and swans. And Giggy! back with us again. The only downside is, you can’t physically get to the food, which always looks insanely good. Next time is the episode with James Kennedy and Jim Jeffries, which I talked about yesterday. I guess that was a sneak peek on Bravo. This show is always well-worth watching, but Jim Jeffries is too funny, so take a look.
