What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts, recaps, and the whole GH enchilada on Fridays)

General Hospital

In the solarium, Drew talks to someone on the phone about contributions, when Willow walks in. She says she thought Michael would be here, and Drew says, he should be here any minute. She puts some keys on the table and starts to leave. He asks if they can’t even be in the same room, but she says she has a busy day. He says, they should talk, when Ned walks in. He asks if he’s interrupting something.

Sasha finds Cody in the nook and asks what he’s hiding. Is it a present? Is it something naughty? He says, Serenity is on the market, and she says, call a realtor. They do virtual tours now. He says, it’s on the market at $6 million.

On the phone, Tracy tells someone at the school that she wants a roster of who witnessed Violet’s emotional distress, when Brook takes the phone out of her hand. She says, disregard that. No one is suing anyone. She hangs up and tells Tracy that they just put out a fire at Violet’s school, and now she wants to start another one? Going after a little boy isn’t going to help. Tracy says she’s going after his parents, and Olivia comes in. She asks, what’s the racket?

Laura tells Lulu that she knows how hard it is, but try to hang on a little bit longer. She knows Lulu can do it.

Dante meets Sam at the batting cages, and she tells him that he needs to focus on practicing. The softball playoffs are coming up. Dante says he’s not in the mood, and she asks if he’s going to let those sons of bitches at The Invader take the pennant. He takes the bat from her.

On the phone, Elizabeth tells someone to send her the final report. She’ll be ready as soon as she gets it. Isaiah comes by, and she asks, how’s the knee? He says, better. He just came from PT and thought he’d check on Lucky. Is he getting prepped? She says she thought he’d heard. Lucky can’t be Lulu’s donor. They were all disappointed, especially Lucky. He says he’s sure Lucky took it hard, and Elizabeth says, it looks like she may still have a chance.

Martin asks Laura how Lulu is doing, and she says, they’ve both had better days, but she’s not giving up. Is that him? He says, don’t start. He’s taking his new look for a test drive. Does she want to stretch her legs and gab a bit? She says, sounds good.

Willow says, if they’d make sure Michael gets his keys, she’d appreciate it, and she leaves. Ned tells Drew that the lawyers successfully argued that Valentin’s shares be returned to the company, but it will be a couple of months before they’re returned. He and Michael can take care of the details if Drew trusts them to do it. They all want the same thing. Drew says, to keep the company in the family and secure its future, and Ned says, they’ll keep him apprised. Drew says he’d like to discuss it with Michael, but Ned asks if he doesn’t have better things to do. Drew says, like what?

Sasha says, it might seem like a big place, but that doesn’t mean Cody shouldn’t go after it. He says, it won’t just be for him, and she says she doesn’t know if she’s ready… but he says, not that yet. He wants to fix the place up and create a rescue, an animal sanctuary. He can invite the Scorpios to visit and teach James to ride on his own horse. As soon as he found out, he’s been dreaming about it every day. He always felt a connection to it. Nothing ever measures up to the possibility of going home. She says, then go for it. Whatever it takes. He’ll find a way to make it happen. He says, there’s no time. This might be his only chance. She asks how he would feel if he let it pass, and Cody says he has one idea. Does she think Tracy might lend him the money for a down payment?

Brook says she and Chase handled it, and Tracy says she’s afraid the school doesn’t have Violet’s best interests at heart. Their primary objective is to protect themselves. Violet’s well-being is secondary. She has to do what’s necessary since Finn isn’t here. They hear Ace cry on the monitor, and Tracy says she’ll take it. Olivia says she never asked Tracy to take care of Ace, and Brook says, she’s threatening to sue the parents of a 9-year-old. Olivia says, it’s kind of badass, but Brook says, don’t encourage her. She doesn’t understand that she’s just making everything worse.

Dante practices batting and Sam brings over some hot dogs. He thanks her for being so good to him, and she says, he takes care of everybody and deserves an afternoon off… But not a dry dog. She forgot the mustard.

Laura tells Martin that Lulu hasn’t worsened, but unfortunately, Lucky can’t be a donor. He says he’s sorry. He got tested, but he’s not a match. Is there anything else he can do? She says, explain the sudden transformation.

Elizabeth says she found out there’s another possible donor, but she’s waiting to get all the information before she tells the family. Isaiah says, that’s wise, and she says, after finding out lucky didn’t pass the second screening… He says he’s sorry her family is going through this, and she says, they tend to take donations for granted. He says, transplants aren’t possible without the extraordinary gift so someone can continue living, and she says, not everyone is willing to make that sacrifice, especially if they’re not related.

Sasha says she’s not sure Tracy will go for it, and Cody says, she’s right. It’s a lot of money to lend the guy who keeps her horses. It was a bad idea. She tells him that she said she’s not sure. Clearly, Tracy likes him. Tracy comes in and says, Ace woke up hangry. And the chocolate pudding cup he was given only insured his emotional pain. She asks if it can be switched with vanilla, and Sasha says she just bought some. She’ll get it. She leaves, and Tracy asks Cody, what’s the smirk for?

Olivia tells Brook that Violet needs all of them in her life. Tracy will never stop fighting for the people she cares about, and if Brook tells Tracy that she said that, she’ll deny it. Brook says, her secret is safe, but she wishes Tracy didn’t feel the need to take on this particular fight. Olivia says she thinks Tracy wants to do what she can for Violet because there’s nothing she can do for Lulu.

Dante says he needed this. It’s hard taking a leave of absence. Sam asks if he regrets it, but he says, not at all. The timing is perfect. He’s glad that her mom’s trial is over. She says, that makes two of us, and he says he ran into Dex at the station. Dex told him that they found the gun her mom threw in the river. Sonny was going to a meeting to confess in order to get her mom out, and after all these years of walking the tightrope between son and cop, there he was nearly putting his career on the line to stop him.

Elizabeth asks if Isaiah has heard from Lucky, but he says, Lucky hasn’t reached out. He assumes Lucky left town. Elizabeth says she hopes not, and he says, Lucky might need distance. She asks if that’s what he’d do, and he says he and Lucky understand each other. He admits he’s dipped when it got too real, and she says, sometimes it feels like the only solution is walking away. He says, there was a surgery that didn’t go as planned. They learn in med school that sometimes people die, but that doesn’t change the fact that he walked away. He ran away as far as he could. She says, refugee camps aren’t the easy way out, and he says, that didn’t change what happened or that he ran away, but he thinks Lucky is wrong this time. He thinks they need him to stay.

Martin says he needed a confidence boost after Lucy, and Laura says, when Lucy sees the new him, he might be in for a few more go arounds. He says, she already tried, but he’s been able to withstand her charms. He thought a new haircut and suit would go with the new him, as well as a new sound. He was tired of people asking him about fried chicken and has his talented vocal coach Miss Finch to thank. Laura says, for what it’s worth (🍷), she loved the old him too, and he says he’s sorry he wasn’t here when she was going through all this, but she says, he’s here now. All they can do is pray they find a donor before they’re out of time. He asks if she minds if he kisses his niece before he takes off, and she says, of course (🍷) not. They go back to Lulu’s room and find Cyrus there. He says, the poor girl was here all alone.

Sasha tells Tracy that Cody was telling her about an interesting idea, and Cody says he’s thinking of switching from oats to alfalfa. Tracy says she supports that decision, takes the pudding cup, and leaves. Cody says he clutched, but Sasha says, his instincts were right. He needs to show that he’s thought this through. Make a business plan and try again. He says, or scrap it. Tracy might think he was pretending to be her friend hoping for a payday. There was a time he would have, but not anymore. He has so much to lose now.

Ned tells Drew to let them take care of the details, when Michael walks in. He says, sorry he’s late. He asks if it’s about Valentin’s shares, and Ned says he was giving Drew a proposal regarding equally dividing the shares between the next generation of Quartermaines, including Leo and any children Brook might have. It puts ELQ back in the family’s hands and secures the future. Drew says, the kids are too young to vote. They’ll need proxies. Ned says he can represent them until they’re of age and ELQ belongs to the future Quartermaines, and Drew says, there’s no rush, but Ned says, the shares will need to be put in a blind trust. Drew asks, who would be the trustee? Him? Ned says, it stands to reason, but Drew says he’s not ready. Ned says he thinks with Drew’s record with the SEC, he’d like to get it done, and Drew says he’ll have to get back to Ned. Michael says, they’ll table it for now, and Ned says he thought the only way for them to get through this was together. So much for family unity. He leaves.

Brook tells Olivia that she’s trying to be understanding. Tracy is second guessing her decisions and she’s already doing that herself. Olivia says, Brook and Chase were thrown into the deep end of parenting. Don’t take no or we’ll see for an answer and don’t be ashamed to ask for help. They can’t do it alone. Ned comes in and says he should have known they’d betray him. Drew and Michale are trying to freeze him out again. Olivia suggests they continue outside, and they go into the foyer. Ned says he can’t believe he believed Michael’s crap about family unity, and she says, he’s her husband and she loves him, but she can’t do this right now.

Dante tells Sam that Anna was going to let Sonny confess, but Sonny didn’t have to because Martin came in with the news. Sonny clammed up, but he was on the verge of deciding between being a cop and a son. Sam says, it’s hard to think straight when one parent is in trouble, but he has so many people. With Lulu’s condition, it’s no wonder everything is blurry now. He says, the person he thinks it’s taken the most toll on… She says, Rocco, and he says, the only thing that matters is that he’s a good father. She says, he’s a great dad, and he says, is he? He made Rocco a promise he doesn’t think he can keep.

Laura says she thought Cyrus was going to notify her when he wanted to see Lulu, but Cyrus says he was visiting other patients. He expected to see her, but Lulu was alone. She thanks him for keeping Lulu company, and he says, they need to pray together that Lulu will soon be delivered from this terrible ordeal.

Elizabeth tells Isaiah that she doesn’t know if Lucky ran, but she thinks he’s disappointed that he couldn’t save his sister. She hopes he and Isaiah can connect. Lucky could use a friend like him. The desk computer chimes, and Elizabeth says, it’s a match. She knows who can save Lulu’s life.

Sasha says, Cody will have to ask someone else. Tracy isn’t the only person who could invest. He has to see it as an investment, not a handout. He says he’s not a guy people invest in. He knows how to turn on the charm, but that’s not him anymore. As much as he wants to, he’s not going back to his old ways. He promised James, no more lies. She says she’s not asking him to do what he doesn’t want to, but don’t give up on his dream.

Olivia says she’s doing everything to keep the family together, and Ned says, she doesn’t need his grousing and foolishness. He apologizes for adding to her list of worries. He’s in awe that she’s still standing. He’ll handle the problem on his own. He heads for the door, and she asks where he’s going. He says he thought she didn’t want to know, and leaves.

Michael asks what he walked in on, and Drew says, since he’s bowing out, Ned taking the opportunity to take control of ELQ by using the kids. Now it’s going to be a battle. Michael says, Ned will cool off eventually, but Drew says he doesn’t know about the leadership of ELQ. Michael is vital at Aurora, but he’s needed at ELQ. Michael says he’s focused on keeping the family unified, and Drew asks if Michael thinks Ned would promote unity or himself. He’s got an idea, but he needs Michael to make it work. He needs Michael to agree that when he wins the election, Michael will take over ELQ.

Willow finds Brook, who says she’s hiding out. Willow’s a teacher. Can she give Brook some advice? Willow says she’ll try, and Brook says, her grandmother believes that the school doesn’t have Violet’s best interests at heart, that the administration and teachers are just going to protect themselves. She wonders if Tracy is on to something. Willow says, that’s a cynical way of looking at it, but from the school’s perspective, she’s probably right.

Dante says, Rocco was upset that Lucky couldn’t be a donor, so he said he thought there would be another donor. He gave Rocco false hope. He made Rocco believe Lulu could fight through this. Sam says, that doesn’t mean she can’t or won’t, but Dante says, they both know the chances aren’t good. It feels like he lied when he needed to be honest. He couldn’t give Rocco the truth.

Martin tells Cyrus that he’s got news about their mother, and they step outside. Cyrus asks, what’s wrong with their mother? but Martin says, nothing. She’s as healthy as a horse, but he doesn’t think Laura needs Cyrus hanging around. Cyrus says, he’s been there while Martin was off getting a makeover, and Martin says he didn’t know Cyrus was the only person allowed to change his image. He seems to remember a ponytail and expensive Italian suits. Cyrus says he’s given his life to God and is making almonds amends, and he’s not bothering Laura. Just the opposite. He’s giving her a greater gift than Martin could know.

Elizabeth goes into Lulu’s room and says, there’s something she needs to tell Laura. They may have found a match for Lulu.

Willow suggests a collaboration. Make a plan with the teachers, the school psychologist, and the principal or vice principal. Brook asks if it won’t be on Violet’s permanent record, but Willow says, elementary school permanent records are more myth than reality. It’s important to get support. She bets the school will want to work with them, but if they resist, be pushy. Brook asks if Willow’s met her, and Willow says she knows it’s hard, and Brook says, this is just temporary, but it makes her wonder if she’s ready for the real thing.

Michael says he and Drew don’t have the votes. Tracy will vote no, Ned will vote no, and Brook will fall in line. He doesn’t want to cause a rift. Drew says, they’ll divide the control three ways, and Michael says, the shares will have to be put in a blind trust. Drew asks if Michael will be the trustee, and Michael says, if that’s what it takes to remove Ned as CEO, it’s on.

Ned meets Elaine and Mavis in a parking lot and says he appreciates her meeting him. She comes highly recommended. She asks the reason for their meeting, and he says he believes a family member is having an affair with another family member’s wife, but he needs actual proof. The name is Quartermaine. She asks if it’s the good looking one running for congress, and he says, the woman is Willow, the wife of his nephew Michael. She asks why he believes they’re having an affair, and Ned flashes back to James telling him that Willow feels guilty for kissing Drew. He says he heard it from a reliable source.

Dante tells Sam, it feels like a lie. He told Rocco what he wanted to believe. Sam says, he told Rocco to not give up, and he says, maybe he’s lying to Rocco and himself. She says she doesn’t think hope is lying. Her phone rings, and she says, it’s GH. She answers and Terry introduces herself. She says she was hoping Sam could come in as soon as possible. It’s important. Sam asks, what’s wrong? and Terry says she’ll fill Sam in when she gets here. Sam says she’ll be right there, and tells Dante that it’s Dr. Randolph from GH. The doctor wants to see her, but didn’t say why. It sounded important. Dante says he’ll take her to the hospital and visit Lulu.

Tracy says, Ace has the table manners of a goat, and Olivia says, he’s one year old, and Tracy can cut the tough guy act. She knows Tracy likes Ace. Tracy asks if Olivia was waiting to tell her live her authentic life, and Olivia says she’s telling Tracy to lighten up on Brook. Her second-guessing everything Brook does isn’t helping. She needs to butt out. Tracy says, Olivia is right. If she wants authenticity, here it is. She hates feeling powerless and she does. She can’t help Finn. He needs to help himself. And Lulu, the daughter of the love of her life, the bright comet she raised from adolescence is dying. Nobody wants to say it out loud, and all she can do is threaten a primary school and hand out pudding cups to toddlers. Olivia hugs her and Tracy says, that’s all she can do.

Cody tells Sasha that he dreamt of owning Serenity and retiring there with his own family, but it’s not realistic. His life is great as it is. They kiss, and he says, what more could he want? He leaves.

Michael says, Drew’s plan comes with a risk, and Drew says, more than Ned having control? They’ll have the majority share, and Ned won’t have enough to fight that.

Elaine says she’ll be in touch if she finds proof, and Ned says, what if she doesn’t? She says, unlikely. He seems to think there’s something, but her fee is the same either way. Ned puts an envelope on her car and walks away. (Kind of clandestine when they’re meeting out in the open.) She takes the envelope and looks inside. She tells Mavis that mommy is going to buy her a new doggie bed.

Willow tells Brook that parenting is hard. It’s often thankless and exhausting, but the joy and love you experience is unlike anything you’ve felt before. It’s the best thing she’s done. Brook says she’s happy for Willow, when Brook’s phone dings. She says, oh my God. It’s Chase. Finn is out of rehab. Willow says, Violet will be so happy to be with her dad, and Brook says, she will.

Laura goes to Doc’s office, and says, thank God he’s not in session. He says, she looks happy, and she says she’s trying to remain realistically optimistic. They found a donor. He says, that’s wonderful news, and she says, they won’t tell her their identity because they have to tell the person first. She prays they say yes, and after that comes the secondary level of screening like with Lucky. He says, no wonder she’s being cautious, and she says, it could be the answer to her prayers. She’s kind of afraid to be hopeful, but 15 minutes ago, there was no hope. Now she’s back to walking that fine line. They have to pass the secondary level, but the worst case is them deciding they don’t want to have the surgery. Doc hugs her.

Dante asks how Lulu is doing, and Elizabeth says, she’s hanging in. Isaiah is with her now. There’s a beep from Lulu’s room and they both run there. Isaiah says, code blue. Lulu is crashing. Elizabeth says, start compression, and Isaiah calls for a crash cart.

Terry thanks Sam for coming, and Sam says she doesn’t know why she’s here. Is it about her sister? Terry says she’s sorry she was so cryptic, and asks Sam to have a seat. It doesn’t have to do with her sister. They have a possible liver donor for Lulu. Sam says, that’s great. Dante is visiting Lulu. Terry should tell him, not her. She gets up, but Terry says, wait. There’s a reason why she’s telling Sam and not Dante. The person is her.

Tomorrow, Mac says he and Robert have unfinished business; Sam says she can’t tell Dante; and Jack asks if Anna or Jason brought back a souvenir from their travels.

🗽 Pigeons Roost In the Hamptons…

The group took a trip to Erin’s Sag Harbor house. After Ubah made sure Brynn and Sai were alone to mend fences, and said no one would come in, the entire group trickled in. Their original issue came from Brynn supposedly saying that Sai hated Jenna, and Sai hearing it from Jenna. It took me ten minutes to get that sentence to make sense. That shows how stupidly complicated it is. Brynn called in Jenna to verify, but Jenna claimed she hadn’t specifically said it was Brynn. However, in the gift receipt that is a flashback, we saw she did. The whole thing seemed like it was more trouble and took more time than it was worth, but after hugging it out, all was well in the end. For now, as Erin pointed out. I just don’t like Brynn and would avoid her at all costs in a friend group. She admittedly likes to stir the pot and then claims she doesn’t want to hurt whoever this week’s target is. The look of distain mixed with amusement that’s always on her face is infuriating on its own. Since she’s not in middle school, I assume she’s just emotionally immature. And once again proves all the wrong people have the money.

Erin gave fabulous gift bags, specifically geared to the recipient. I have never been to one weekend where I got a gift bag. Unless you count tiny shampoos, conditioners, and lotions in a hotel. Racquel showed off her engagement ring, which is the size of Sag Harbor, and in her interview, she said she had an art piece on her hand. Agreed. Not many would be able to pull it off, but it suits her. Still, I think it must be tough to wear all the time.

Later, Ubah tried to get Brynn to understand how Sai was feeling, and it degenerated into Brynn yelling, dah-dah-dah, no-no-no, over Ubah trying to talk. Remember when Sheree and Marlo (RHOA) had that nonsense talk argument where they were going yabba-dabba-ga-ga-ga-zibby-do-pfft at each other? It was kind of like that, but one sided. Honestly, I don’t know if it’s geographic, financial, generational or what, but I have never once had an argument with friends like they do on any Housewives show. I guess if they weren’t ridiculous, there wouldn’t be a show, but I think you can be entertaining without the drama. I kind of like Ubah, who seems like she’s just trying to be fair. I felt badly for her when she said she was hesitant to open up because of all the potential shade. In Brynn’s interview, she said, Ubah resorted to name calling, which was lowbrow fighting. She was raised to use better words, but no name calling. I dunno. I could agree, but one, English is not Ubah’s first language, and she’s still wading through that; and two, better she gives a hardy f*** you, and you know where she’s at, than smiling in your face and playing Brynn’s game behind the scenes.

Ubah said they were all pigeons with no right address.

At the time of this post, there were no recaps, but there was this.

👀 Last Weekend’s Watch…

Over the weekend, I watched the latest Grotesquerie episode – which made a blink-and-you-missed-it reference to Port Charles. I was like, wait. What? Did I just hear that? I also caught up with The Penguin, which I’m appreciating for its sense of humor. I’ve yet to be caught up with Agatha, but these weekly drops make me cranky. I’ve been spoiled by the opportunity to watch a series in its entirety.

Since I don’t have enough series going on, I’ve added Teacup to my roster. While Inverse was disappointed, I was not. Except for the aforementioned weekly doling out of episodes like methadone.

No spoilers.

https://screenrant.com/teacup-2024-show-rotten-tomatoes-score/

Pretty much a blow-by-blow of the first two episodes.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/obsessed/teacup-review-new-horror-series-will-shock-you-with-gruesome-twists

The film disappointment I set myself up for was The Platform 2. Some of it makes slightly more sense, at least from the perspective of the prisoners trying to find a way for everyone to survive. There seemed to be some kind of Christian parallels with someone called The Master aka Dagin Babbi, who eventually turns into more of a Pharisee when he creates more rules than the ones the prisoners were originally stuck with. This causes things to get so out of hand, his opposition decides to kill to build a future where no one kills anymore. in other words, kill for peace.

I’m not sure if there’s something philosophical that I’m missing or maybe this is just horror for horror’s sake, but I still don’t get it. Is there an end game? Who is actually in charge and why? Since it’s a combination of forced containment and volunteers, why are the volunteers surprised at what they’ve gotten themselves into? And most important, why isn’t anyone thinner by the end of the movie?

The prisoners are allowed to choose the one dish they’ll eat daily, unless they exchange with someone else, and I was surprised to note that many didn’t choose very carefully. Like, only eating dessert is not a good choice for sustenance. There was a time when I used to say I could live on Wendy’s hamburgers. Until I had to. After Hurricane Sandy hit, the only thing open was Wendy’s and by day three, eating those burgers got old. It was also just before Halloween, and I never even want to look at a Reese’s cup again.

The one blatant message was, we’re all prisoners of ourselves and from that there’s no possible escape. If that’s the moral to this story, I think there are better and less cryptic ways to tell it. Be forewarned, this movie is extremely brutal.

And try saying, double dereliction of duties three times real fast.

I often think, if you have to explain it to me, maybe I shouldn’t be watching it, but here you go.

I also watched the documentary, The Menendez Brothers, and it was riveting. It looks like they’re moving toward releasing them from prison and I have to admit I agree with that. Either they’re the best actors in the world, or they told the truth. There was also corroborating testimony. I’m actually surprised they got such a harsh sentence, but I think their spending spree post murders did them no service.

⚰️ This Week In Daryl…

Walking Dead might be one of the best post-apocalyptic TV shows ever, but it was also the most stagnant. One of the best things about Z Nation (yep, still bitter about that cancelation) was that they didn’t stay in one place for long and we got to see how a lot more of the world, at least the USA, was dealing with the apocalypse. It was more realistic in the sense that not everyone would be on the same page, whether it was growing weed from zombies (Z-weed) or electing a board of directors and working together as a business. As for Daryl, kudos to breaking him out of TWD mold.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Valentine is about to call Nina, when Anna walks in and says, so this is where he’s been hiding out. He says he hasn’t been hiding; he’s been making a home. For us. Charlotte walks in and asks why the door is open, and then she sees Anna.

Trina and Spencer go into their hotel room (why didn’t he get a suite?), and she says, the Met was amazing. He asks if she was really surprised, and she says she knew they were going to the Met, but didn’t expect a private tour of the archives. He kisses her and says, it makes him happy to see her so happy. She says she can’t believe he did that for her, and he says, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her, gently pushing her onto the bed and kissing her.

Finn washes Chase’s eyes out at the hospital and asks if it feels any better. Chase says, some. His eyes were really starting to burn. Finn says he knows they teach gun safety at the academy, but what about pepper spray safety? Chase says, that’s funny. He’ll have Finn know that he was able to defuse a volatile situation without gunfire. It was worth the collateral damage. Finn says, good. No driving for a half hour, doctor’s orders. He gives Chase his shirt, because of course (🍷) it’s off, and says he’ll see Chase in the lounge when he’s done.

As Finn goes to the desk, Tracy comes out of the elevator and tells him to congratulate her. He says, congratulations. Who’d she fire now? She says, sadly, no one, but she did just get reinstated on the hospital board.

Gregory goes to Alexis’s office and says he knows she’s swamped, but did she get a chance to read his op-ed piece? He emailed it to her. She says she’ll check her box as soon as she gets a chance, but he says he has a hard copy here. It’ll save her some time, and he’d love for her to read it. She says she’s almost done, and as soon as she finishes this, she’ll read it. He leaves it on her desk, but as he leaves, it slips off. She goes around the desk to pick up the papers and sees his bucket list is among them. She says, sky dive… go to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam… take Violet to Disneyland… do hot yoga… read Anna Karenina… hike Machu Picchu… going to racing school. She shakes her head.

Sonny says, let him ask Gladys one question. How is she going to pay for this trip? Because he already knows she stole Sasha’s money to pay back her gambling debt to Selina Wu. She says, that’s not how it went, and he says, shut up. He doesn’t want to hear any more lies. He’s going to make sure she’s not going to lie again. Does she understand what he’s saying? She says, please… but he says, no. What does she want? Does she want him to listen to more lies? Does she want him to ignore she betrayed his trust, dishonored her own son, and robbed his widow? She says she never meant… and he yells that he doesn’t care what she meant. He knows exactly what she did, and now she’s going to pay for it.

Mac tells Officer Daniels that he wants Cody brought to interrogation room one.

Montague throws Sasha on the bed, and is about to inject her, when the door slams open and Cody is there. Montague asks what the hell he’s doing here, and Cody says, drop the syringe and let Sasha go. Montague says he’s sorry. He doesn’t take orders from mental patients wanted for assault and kidnapping. Sasha says, Cody tried to save her from him, and Montague says, they are coocoo birds, pulling Sasha up. He’s walking out of here and he’s taking her with him.

Anna says hi to Charlotte, and Charlotte asks how she likes their home. Anna says, it’s lovely, and Charlotte thanks her. She tells Valentin that Jake asked if they could meet at the skatepark. He wants to show her a trick, and she finished all her homework at school. He says, fine, have fun, be careful, and she says she always is. She runs back out saying acknowledging Valentin, but not Anna, and Valentin says, sorry about that. She’s enjoying the new house and attention from Jake. Anna says, sure, and they go back inside. Valentin says he owes her an apology.

Back in bed, Spencer kisses Trina and says he hates that they have to leave the bed. She says, their time here went by so fast, but she’s going to remember every single moment. He says, it was amazing watching her at the museum today, and she says, watching her? He was supposed to be looking at the art. He says, but he couldn’t take his eyes off her. She was so in her element, and she seemed so happy. She seemed so intense. She tells him, be careful. He’s going to make her fall in love with him even more. He says, she’s in love with him? and she says, he knows she is. He says, it works out because he’s crazy in love with her, and they kiss some more.

Gregory comes back to Alexis’s office and asks what she thinks. She says she’s sure it’s perfect, and hands him the folder. He says, that’s great, but he was hoping she’d read it. He always respects her opinion. She says she will. She’ll read it on her phone during one of her endless circulation meetings. He says, okay, and starts to leave, but drops the folder. As he picks the papers up, he sees his bucket list is in them, and Alexis smiles at him.

Finn tells Tracy, that’s a lot of work. What on earth possessed her? She says, her family has donated a great deal of money to this hospital, and she thought it would behoove her to make sure their investment isn’t mismanaged. He says, since she’s technically one of his bosses, he probably should pretend to be working. As he’s walking away, he says, backgammon Thursday? and she says, definitely.

Sonny tells Gladys, it’s time to come clean. She stole from Sasha, then when Sasha was ready to get her money back, Gladys hired a doctor to mess with her head. Sam says, actually it was worse than that, and Sonny asks, what could be worse than that? Sam says, the doctor was Gladys’s poker buddy and he put Sasha on a medication that made her hallucinate when taken in combination with her antidepressant. Sonny says, and that’s when she stabbed Cody? and Gladys says she swears she never asked him to drug Sasha. When she found out what he was doing, she tried to make him stop. She did everything she could to set Sasha free. He yells, another lie!

Daniels tells Mac that Cody isn’t here. He left in the custody of Detective Falconari. He said he was taking Cody back to Ferncliff. Mac says, come on. Let’s go.

Montague says, get away from the door, but Cody says, no. This can never work. Montague says, it can work. There’s enough propofol in this syringe to turn Sasha into Sleeping Beauty. Only all the Prince Charmings in the world won’t be enough to wake her up. Or if she’s lucky, it will kill her. Is this how Cody wants this fairytale to end? Sasha says, don’t listen to him, and Montague says, shut up. He has nothing to lose now, and that makes a man brave. Does Cody want to gamble? Cody walks toward them and tells Sasha that it’s going to be okay. Montague walks her past Cody and asks if she heard him. Everything’s going to be just fine. Janice comes to the door, and Montague says, oh good. He’s going to need her help.

Cody tells Janice, call security, but Montague says, don’t listen to him. Cody kidnapped Sasha and assaulted him. Janice asks what Montague is doing, and Sasha says, he’s been drugging her since before she even got here. Janice says she’s going to call security, but Montague says, she’s not going to move… unless she wants Sasha’s death on her hands. Now listen to him. She’s going to make sure every security door is open, so he and his friend here can go out the back entrance. If he hears any alarms go off when they walk out, she dies. And Mr. Bell is going to stay here or she dies. Now, Janice. Sasha elbows him and runs. Janice takes off, and Cody pushes Montague against the hallway wall, slamming his hand against it until he drops the syringe. Dante pops out from around the corner, aiming his gun, and says, Cody.

Sonny says, if Gladys wanted to set Sasha free, she would have come to him and told him what she did. That would have been thinking of Sasha’s safety instead of trying to save her own skin. Sam says, when has she ever cared about anyone else? and Sonny says, never, but Gladys says, that’s not true. Brando was… Sonny says, she told everyone Brando was dead so she could collect the insurance money. When his father got Alzheimer’s, she wanted to worm her way into the family. Gladys says, no. She loved Mike. Sonny says, do not lie to him again.

Trina asks how Spencer was able to get them a private tour through the archives, and he says he pulled a few strings. He had no idea she was going to like it as much as she did though. She asks if he’s kidding. Seeing the artists’ work at its different stages and hearing the tour guide talk in such great detail, she loved it. She feels like it’s going to make her see art in a different way now. She feels like she’s been looking at paintings with her eyes, her perspective only, and after learning about such amazing works of art – the process and the politics of the time, the materials – she feels like it helped her see art from another perspective; like she’s seeing it from their eyes. She knows it sounds ridiculous. He says, it’s not ridiculous at all. It makes perfect sense. He kisses her again.

Alexis says, sorry, it was in with the article, and Gregory says, that’s all right. He guesses he was trying to decide what should be next on the list, and the page got mixed up in the article. She says, it’s a very impressive and diverse list, and he says, she said she’d him get rid of one of them. She says, okay, what’s next? and he says, skydiving. Does she want to help him knock another one off the list? She says, of course (🍷) he’d want to pick that one first, and he smiles.

On the phone, Tracy tells Monica, yes, it was pointed out to her that the hospital board is a lot of work. Chase sits in the waiting area, and Tracy says she has to go. She’ll see Monica at home. She goes over to Chase and asks if he’s all right. He says he’s fine, and she says, he’s clearly not fine. Did something happen to Brook? He says, no, and she sits down and says, is it his father? Did he fall down again? Is Gregory in the ER? She was just talking to Finn; they should go get him. Chase tells her, slow down. What is she talking about? She says, he was crying, so she thought… He says, that his father fell? He got hit with some pepper spray; it was nothing. She laughs and says she didn’t think he had to use that stuff. She hopes he feels better. She starts to walk away, but he says, oh no. Not so fast. She’s not going anywhere until she tells him what’s going on. She says, nothing’s going on. She was mistaken. He says he can see she knows something he doesn’t. Now tell him what it is.

Trina asks if Spencer thinks she really makes sense when she talks about art, and he says, yeah. When she looks at a painting, she doesn’t just see brush strokes and style. She sees the artist’s intent, and she sees the passion and the underlying intent of the painting. It doesn’t even come as a surprise to him because he thinks that’s just who she is. It’s how she’s been since the day he met her. She’s an empathetic person and she’s completed parts of him that he didn’t even know needed to be completed. He’s glad they were able to share this weekend because it’s all he ever wanted.

Valentin says he’s been keeping secrets, and Anna laughs. She says, so she sees, and you know what? So has she. She thinks that’s the pattern in their relationship. He says, after the fire, she was so despondent, he went looking for another home and he found this place. The deal was difficult, so Martin stepped in and finessed it. She says she knew Martin was involved because she followed Valentin here one day. She didn’t know who it was he was meeting, but then she remembered Martin had come to their hotel room with paperwork for him to sign, so then it kind of all made sense. He says he’s given her far too many reasons not to trust him, and she agrees. Sneaking around inside, Charlotte listens at the door, and Anna asks why he’d feel the need to keep this secret.

Sonny says, Gladys never loved his dad, and if he hadn’t gotten Alzheimer’s, he’d have seen that. She saw it as an opportunity to worm her way into the family; saying how great family is and that she believed in family. And he went along with it because it was his dad’s last days, and he wanted them to be good days. Maybe he just believed it a bit. He doesn’t know. She says, it was true, but he says, it was a lie, like everything else. She starts to cry, and he says, she used his dad like she used her son and she used Sasha. He’s going to tell her right now, the days of her using anyone are over.

Dante tells Cody to let Montague go, and he does, stepping away and raising his hands. Mac joins them with Janice and Daniels, and asks, what’s going on? Montague says, thank God he’s here. Cody tried to kill him and Mac’s own officer witnessed it. Sasha says, that’s a lie, and Montague says, of course (🍷) she’d side with him. She’s very sick and he broke her out of here. Mac asks if Janice saw what happened, and Montague says he called her for assistance. Before she was about to call security, this officer stopped Mr. Bell. Mac asks if that’s what happened, but Janice says, no. Dr. Montague was holding that syringe on Miss Gilmore. He threatened to kill her if Janice didn’t let him escape. Mac tells Daniels, cuff him, and tells Dante to make sure he reads Montague him his rights. Dante says, will do, and Daniels takes Montague into Sasha’s room. Dante follows them in and starts giving Montague his rights. Cody tells Sasha, it’s finally over, and she thanks him, hugging him.

Trina tells Spencer that she’ll never forget this weekend. And not just because of the beautiful necklace he gave her. He says, this is actually a selfish gift, because whenever she wears it, she’ll be reminded of the incredible weekend they had together, which he needed. It’s been so nice getting some time away from Port Charles and all the distractions there. It’s made him see so much clearer just how much he loves her. She says she loves him too, and he says, they still have time before they leave. Should they go out for one last meal? She says, he’s making it sound like they’re going before a firing squad, and he says he’s just trying to be considerate. He knows she hasn’t eaten since breakfast, and she pointed out that one restaurant near Lincoln Center. She says she is a little hungry, but she’d rather eat here. (I will not make a joke. I will not make a joke…) He says, at the hotel dining room? But she says, in bed. He says, that sounds pretty good. Room service it is. They kiss.

Valentin tells Anna, at first he kept it a secret because he didn’t know if they were going to close, and he didn’t want to disappoint her. She says, he didn’t want to disappoint her? and he says he bought the house for her. For us, so we could move in here with Charlotte. We can start a life together. Still hiding, Charlotte shakes her head.

Mac tells Daniels to leave Montague handcuffed to the bed while he gets the nurse’s official statement, and Daniels leaves. Mac says, so Dante thought Cody should come to Ferncliff for some official reason? Dante says he thought it would look good for the department if Cody was evaluated, and Mac says, very clever. Dante says, technically… and Mac says, Dante covered his ass. So how did Cody end up confronting Montague? Dante says, Montague was leaving Ferncliff. Cody wanted to follow him, but he told Cody to stay here, and he followed him. He looked like he was going to leave and took a turn on a dirt road near the entrance, ditched his car, and came back here. Mac says, and Dante got back here just in time to stop Cody, and Dante says, yeah. This guy’s been drugging Sasha for months. He nearly killed her. They have a solid witness in that nurse. Montague glares at them, and Dante says, Cody did good. Mac agrees and says, the doctor’s going away for a long time.

In the hallway, Cody gives Sasha some water and she thanks him. She says she was so afraid this was all going to blow up in their faces and Dr. Montague would get away with it. But he didn’t. Cody says, yeah, and Gladys won’t either.

Sonny asks Sam to excuse them for a second, and Sam says, sure. Gladys says, don’t leave her here, but Sam says she’s sure Sonny’s going to do exactly what needs to be done, and leaves. Gladys tells Sonny that she’s sorry. She’s so, so sorry. It was the gambling. It’s a disease, an addiction. She had no control over it. She got in over her head and there was no way out. None of this was supposed to happen. He says, but it did happen – he takes his jacket off – and now you’re going to pay.

Tracy says she thinks Chase should speak to his father, and he says, about what? His father only puts up with her because of Brook, so how could she know something about his father falling that he doesn’t know? She tells him that she didn’t say she knew anything, and he says, dammit. Tell him what’s going on. Finn comes down the stairs, and Tracy says, oh God. His father has ALS. She turns around and sees Finn, and Chase says, oh my God.

Alexis says, pick something else, and Gregory says, Machu Picchu will have to wait. She says, definitely, and he says he’s got it.

Alexis sweats in hot yoga class, and she and Gregory look at one another.

Trina wishes they could stay like this forever, and Spencer says he wishes the world worked that way. But there are people back in Port Charles who miss her, like her mom and her dad. He kisses her hand, and she says she’s thinking about when her dad made her realize how fragile life is. She’s thinking about what he’s going through and it makes her feel guilty for being so happy. He says, her dad would want her to be happy, although her mom might not be terribly pleased with the person who’s making her happy. She says she thinks her mom is just being protective. Deep down she knows Spencer is a good person. (Does she?) She knows he loves his little brother and he’d do anything to protect him. He says he just doesn’t want his brother to feel abandoned, and she says, he won’t. There’s knock at the door, and a voice says, room service. Spencer tells her to stay where she is; he’ll get it.

Anna tells Valentin, it certainly is a very beautiful house, in a gorgeous location. It’s perfect. He says he should have talked to her about it. He just wanted to ride in like a White Knight and say, here’s her wonderful new home. Come live with him. He should have asked her what she wanted. But she can’t blame him, because all he ever wanted was a life with her. Charlotte flashes back to receiving the package from Victor, opening it, and taking out the cards and letter. She reads: My dearest Charlotte, it is with a heavy heart that I must write to you and share my concerns about our family’s future; a family I cherish and would give my life for. My concern centers around your father and the path I believe he’s headed down, one filled with unhappiness and danger. I’m afraid your father has gotten weak, Charlotte. I had so much hope for him, but he’s forgotten how truly important family is since he’s fallen in love with Anna Devane. Anna has completely manipulated your father. She has taken advantage of his infatuation with her. God knows, her charms escape me, but she’s used them to control your father. Her extensive training in espionage has afforded her to mask who she really is. I tell you this: Anna Devane is not who she seems. Do not trust her, not for a minute, and it’s imperative you never forget, you are strong, Charlotte. Cassadine women are often the most formidable. Even if Valentin brings Anna further into your life, I know you’ll never succumb to her so-called charms. You won’t let her destroy what our family stands for. She is a liar, capable of treacherous deceit. Be wary and be warned. Be armed. You must stay strong. You must use any weapon you can to defeat Anna, because your father clearly will do whatever she asks. And she will use his feelings. She will use your father. She’ll lead him into danger. She will lead him to his death. My dear Charlotte, you are the only one who can protect your father from Anna Devane. You, his most cherished possession, must save him. To guide you, I’m giving you these very special tarot cards. They are powerful tools, Charlotte. You’ll find them helpful. Use them wisely. Use them to protect and save your father, a man we both love dearly. Your loving grandfather, Victor Cassadine.

The yoga instructor thanks everyone for coming, and thanks the newcomer. Namaste. Alexis says, nama-hot, and Gregory laughs. He says, that was a lot better than he ever thought it would be, and she says, he’s kidding, right? He thanks her for enduring the class, and she says she’s glad he enjoyed it. He says he really did; he feels great. She says, good. Actually, it wasn’t that bad. He says, so she’ll be back? and she says, no. What’s next? He guesses a shower, but she says, no. She means, what’s next on his bucket list. He says, oh. He’s going to wait to decide until after he tells Chase. She says, he hasn’t told Chase yet? and he says, Chase has been so happy with Brook, and he knows when he tells Chase that he has ALS, it’s going to break both of their hearts.

Chase asks Finn, is it true? and Finn says, yes. Chase asks if he’s here, but Finn says, no. He knows it’s difficult. Try to stay calm. Chase says, their father is dying, and Finn says, Gregory was going to tell Chase. Chase asks how long Gregory has known, and Finn says, a few months. Chase says, what? And Finn has too? Finn says, no. Gregory only told him a couple of weeks ago. Chase says, a couple of weeks? How could he not know, but his father tells his son who cut him out of his life for twenty years? Finn says, this has been very difficult for him, and Chase says, Tracy knew? but she says, it wasn’t like that. Chase says, like what? Like she and his brother knew his father was dying, and nobody cared to tell him about it? He starts to leave, and Finn says, wait, reaching for Chase’s arm, but Chase says, don’t even think about it. He thanks Tracy for being honest with him, and she says she’s so sorry. She really thought he knew. Looking at Finn, he says, obviously, she was mistaken, and leaves. He goes outside, leans against the building, and sinks to the ground.

Sasha says, Cody saved her life. He believed in her. He says he wasn’t the only one, when Dante joins them and says, the only one what? Cody says, who believed in Sasha, and Sasha says, he’s right. If Dante and Sam hadn’t believed in her, she could have been locked in here for the rest of her life, or worse. Dante says, Cody made a compelling case, and Sam believed in Sasha from the beginning. She knew from the start something was wrong and she was determined to prove it. And when she’s determined… Cody goes into the room with Montague and says, not a good feeling, is it, doc? Now he’s the one in Sasha’s place; trapped, helpless.

Sonny tells Gladys, sit down, and she does. He sits opposite her and says, in these situations, he thinks it’s best for people like her to get everything off their chest before it’s all over. She says, over? and he says, tell him everything without whining and excuses. This is something she needs for her soul. She says, the gambling debt was to Selina Wu. She threatened Gladys, so she paid her with Sasha’s money. She ended up owing Selina more, then Sasha wanted to end the guardianship, so she made a deal with Montague to make Sasha look unfit. He gave her medication that was just supposed to confuse her, but she swears… Sonny says, stop whining. He told her to stop whining. He smiles and says, she used Sasha. She took advantage of Sasha’s love and trust and locked her in a living hell. Just say it. Gladys says she used Sasha and took advantage of her love and trust… She cries, and Sonny says, finish it. She says, and locked her in a living hell, and he says, that’s good. But now she’s going to have to see what it’s going to cost her. He stands up and calls for Frank. Frank comes in and Gladys looks terrified.

Spencer says, boarding passes are downloaded, and the bellhop has the bags, and Trina says she’s glad Spencer left room in his suitcases. She could have never fit all the stuff she bought here. He helps her zip up her bag and asks if she’s all set. She says, goodbye, room. Thank you. They smile at each other and leave.

Anna says, Valentin might not have handled this beautifully, but she thinks the sentiment is beautiful. He says, unfortunately, now that they have the house, the circumstances have kind of changed, and she asks, what’s happened? He says, after the fire, he lost focus on what was going on with his daughter. Anna says, she’s had a lot of adjustments this year, and Valentin agrees. Boarding school, living with Laura and then Sam and Dante and their kids. Charlotte continues to listen in, and Anna says, she seems very happy now though. He says, but it’s made him realize he has to give her his undivided attention right now, and she says she gets that. He says he’s so sorry. He bought this house for Anna and now he realizes it’s not the right time to ask her to live with them. She says she understands. Charlotte needs some time alone. He says, she does, and she says, his love for his daughter is very beautiful. He promises, as soon as everything is right, they’ll move in together, and kisses her. Charlotte peeks out from around the door, and hears Victor’s voice say, you must use any weapon you can to defeat Anna.

Gregory hopes at some point, Alexis reads his op-ed piece, and she promises to do it as soon as humanly possible. He thanks her for everything, and she thanks him back. She says she’s got a question, and he says, shoot. She says, he never read Anna Karenina? He says he’s starting it tonight.

Tracy follows Finn into his office and says she’s so sorry. She saw Chase was crying, and she naturally… He says, not her fault. It’s been way too long. They should have told him. He should have told Chase; he had a right to know. Tracy says, Finn was just trying to respect his father’s wishes. There’s no good way to handle a situation like this. Finn says, but he handled it the wrong way, all wrong.

Montague says, Cody really screwed up this one, didn’t he? Assault? Kidnapping? He’ll explain it away as just a misunderstanding. He was just defending himself. Cody says he doesn’t think that’s going to happen, but just in case… He punches Montague in the stomach, and Montague doubles over. Dante and Mac come in, and Dante tells Cody, let’s go. Mac asks if everything is okay, and Montague says, this man assaulted him again, and the officer saw it. Mac says, Dante? and Dante says he didn’t see anything actually. Mac tells Daniels to transport Montague to the station and book him on attempted murder, among other things. If looks could kill, Montague would see all them dead.

Janice tells Sasha that she’s so sorry, but Sasha says, it’s not her fault. He had a lot of people fooled. Cody comes out, and Janice leaves. Cody asks if Sasha is ready to get out of here, and she asks Dante if they can go. Dante says, absolutely, and Sasha thanks him. They all leave.

Sonny says, Frank’s going to take Gladys on a little ride, and she says, Sonny, please. He says, to Bridgeport. Back to her old life. And if she leaves Bridgeport, he’ll know about it; and if she tells anybody they’re related, he’ll know about it. If she even puts a quarter in a slot machine, he’ll know about it. She does any of those things, and Frank will take her on another ride (ha-ha-ha!), which will be her last ride. She says she understands. She doesn’t know how to thank him for everything… He says, don’t thank him. Get out of his sight. She moves for her suitcase, but he says, don’t touch that luggage. Sasha paid for that luggage. It’s not hers. Frank leads Gladys out of the apartment.

Tomorrow, Kristina says, tell her when and where, and she’s there; Anna asks for Robert’s help; Nina tells Valentin that she’s leaving town; and Sonny asks someone for a favor.

Southern Doubtful Charm

When we left, Olivia was weeping in her car over Austen and Taylor. She and Taylor drive their separate ways, and Olivia calls Leva. She tells Leva about her conversation with Taylor, saying Taylor and Austen had considered dating, and Leva says she’s shocked. Olivia says she and Austen had been talking about fixing things between them at the same time he was talking with Taylor, and a week later, he had a change of heart. She’d even encouraged the friendship. Olivia is genuinely bummed, and Leva says she’s so sorry. Olivia says, Austen is a POS. She’s not wrong, but for other reasons.

Taylor calls Austen and tells him what she told Taylor. She says she thought Taylor would appreciate the honesty, but it was the opposite. Austen says, there was no good time to tell Olivia, and Taylor says she was well within her rights.  No one was dating anyone. In Taylor’s interview, she wonders if Austen and Olivia were ever really together, but at that time, they weren’t speaking. Austen says he’s sick of walking on eggshells.

Patricia says she needs more closets, and Shep tries to instruct Little Craig on using the doggy door. Success! Rod visits JT, and JT says, the one thing covid gave him was Rod. In JT’s interview, he says he and a couple of business partners bought several historical properties in the same neighborhood with the intention of making them an Airbnb called The Inns. They turned a POS building into a clubhouse, and it looks like Gerard Butler’s penthouse is Chelsea. Rod says he talked to Austen, and Austen was smiling in his face as he said he wanted Olivia to be happy, but let Rod know that he’d seen her kissing another guy. JT says, Austen was trying to jab him, and Rod says, he also slut shamed Olivia. JT asks if Rod ever had a sleepover, and Rod says, it was even a forbidden sleepover. JT says, Taylor talked to Olivia about Austen, and Rod says, they’re not in a good place. JT says, it takes two to tango, but it’s always the guy’s fault. That’s right, JT, it is.

Taylor gets ready for the Après Ski party at Republic, and Leva comes in to help. An ice sculpture ski slope with groves for drinking is set up.  Austen texts Taylor that he’s skipping out, then calls Shep, asking, what’s his plan? Shep says, Taylor invited him to her event and he hopes it’s a breakthrough. Austen says he’s happy for them and glad Shep is going, but he’s not. Shep asks, why? and Austen says, there’s a lot of sh*t going on. Taylor and Olivia met up, and Olivia expressed extreme unhappiness with Taylor. Shep asks if she said something had happened between them, but Austen says, nothing happened, hand on Bible. Shep says, like Austen’s so religious. Again, not wrong, but for different reasons.

At Republic, Leva asks if Taylor wants to chat, and Taylor says she’s excited for today. It’s her biggest launch and she wants to do a good job, but she’s also nervous. It’s a plethora of things. Leva says, yesterday was crazy. To be honest, Olivia called, and she was having a meltdown. Taylor owes her all of the truth. In Leva’s interview, she says, no one falls on a d*ck or falls into a relationship. She doesn’t know what it was, but she knows there was more to it. Leva says she adores them both and hates this, but Taylor says, today is about the launch. In Taylor’s interview, she says, she needs to separate business and friendship. She’s so right. Never work for a family run business. They will try to drag you into their fights. Even friends who own companies will do this. Sorry, I digress.

Everyone gets ready, except Austen. Shep tells Little Craig that all his ski stuff is in Hilton Head, then chases him wearing a lion head, like you do with dogs. Venita calls Madison, and in Venita’s interview, she says, Taylor could have picked a better theme. She can’t find anything to wear. We live in Charleston and don’t have coats. Madison says, Whitney told her that Austen isn’t coming; they’re hanging out tonight. Venita tells her that Leva said, Olivia didn’t know if she was coming. She and Taylor are on the outs because Taylor told Olivia that for a split second she had feelings for Austen. Their friendship might be done. Madison says she told them so, and in her interview, she says, roll the tape. We flash back to all the times Madison said Austen was low key in love with Taylor, and she says, poor Olivia. Venita says, it’s going to be a fun night. Shep calls Olivia, who says she’s second guessing going. Shep says he talked to Austen and he’s not going, and Olivia thanks him for passing on the message. In Olivia’s interview, he says, the fact Austen isn’t coming is Exhibit A. She knows how to compartmentalize and is supporting Taylor because she cares about the friendship. She asks if Shep wants to ride together, and after she hangs up, she says she guesses she’ll make a drink now. Oh yeah. It’s always good to show up drunk to support someone you hate. What is wrong with these people? That’s not the first time I’ve thought that during the episode, just the first time I’m writing it.

It starts to pour, but Leva tells Taylor not to stress. Tonight will be fun. In Taylor’s interview, she says, if she lets Leva down, it will not be good. She doesn’t know what to expect. The weather is sh*t and she has personal problems, but impressing Leva is her goal. She’s got to show up and show out. The guests drink from grooves carved in the luge, and the usual suspects show up, minus Austen. Craig wears a faux fur like the white with black trim on Cruella de Vil’s coat. In Taylor’s interview, she says she and Craig aren’t quite best foot forward yet. We flash back to Taylor screeching at Craig at Madison’s party, and Taylor says she’s trying to make amends. She tells him that she likes his winter coat a lot; it’s very Dumb and Dumber. Madison thinks it’s more Monsters, Inc, and in Venita’s interview, she says, Craig looks like pimp daddy junior. In Madison’s interview, she says she hates Craig’s coat. Leva says she thinks it’s petty that Austen couldn’t come and show support. He’s being a little bitch. If Olivia and Shep can come and suck it up, Austen can.

Austen goes to Whitney’s bearing champagne. Dogs! Austen hugs Peaches, and I’m envious. Whitney asks, what’s going on with Austen’s foibles in the love department? and Austen says, vodka first, as we all would. Whitney tells him the dog is wondering, what is this poison these humans are imbibing? Whitney asks, what happened that Austen’s not going to the party? and Austen says, Taylor called him crying and distraught. Whitney wonders what’s up with her always crying all the time, but I’d cry to if I was stuck with this friend group. Austen says, some people have feelings. He doesn’t know if Olivia still wants to be friends with him or if she’s going to the party. He wondered if Olivia would react if he hugged Taylor. Whitney says he was thinking Austen and Taylor might have something latent; there was a suspicion hovering. Austen asks, what if they made out? and Whitney asks if they did. Austen says, they didn’t, and Whitney says he’s guessing out of respect for Shep, they didn’t hook up. Austen says, if Olivia hooked up with Shep, does Whitney think Shep would say anything? but Whitney says, Austen is deflecting. He’s getting whipped up. In Whitney’s interview, he says, there have been rumblings that Austen and Taylor are closer than they’re letting on. The way Austen is reacting, he’s kind of smelling a rat. Seriously, these people have nothing better to do at their age? Oh God, Whitney is 55. Well, what do I expect from someone who lives with mom at that age. Although to tell the truth, I’d want to live with Patricia too. Second only to she-who-can-do-no-wrong LVP.

In the car, Shep says he doesn’t know what to expect, and asks Olivia if they just walk in and smile. Olvia asks if that isn’t the Charleston way, and Shep says, it’s the Southern way. He wants to get down to brass tacks, and asks, what the hell happened with her and Taylor? Olivia says, Taylor told her that she and Austen had a conversation about possibly being in a relationship, and the timeline was what knocked the wind out of her. It was after New York, when she and Austen had been hanging out. It’s just messy. Taylor said she went to her brother for advice, and Austen went to his sister. Shep says, if they’re running it by people, there’s more going on than just friendship. He doesn’t know what to say and tells her, maybe Taylor just needed arms to run into. But for Austen to be those arms and considering them as a couple is f***ing reprehensible.

Craig tells JT that his coat is fake, but it’s so absurd, people think it’s real. Pfft. No, they don’t. It’s actually the most fake looking fake fur I’ve ever seen, and I used to have one that looked so real, I stopped wearing it in NYC because I was afraid PETA would dump paint on me. JT says, it rubs him the wrong way that Austen broke brofessional courtesy by having the sleepover. He’s not saying anything nefarious happened. The alibi is that she slept in the guest room. Madison says, the last time she saw the guest room, there was no bed in it. Leva says she thinks someone should check. As Shep and Olivia walk in, Shep asks if people will think it’s weird that they’re arriving together, but Olivia says, they live near each other. Shep says, perception has become reality. Shep, the great philosopher. In Madison’s interview, she says she’s shocked to see Olivia. She doesn’t know a girl in America who would stay calm. She would rip Taylor’s hair out and her nickname would have been Patches. Seriously? What happened to the new Madison? And how old is she? Let’s check… She’s 33, old enough. But Shep. Shep is 43 years old. Why does he continue to act like he’s still in college? Maybe even high school? She asks how Taylor thinks it’s going, and Taylor says, it’s going well. She thanks Madison for being here, and it’s awkward AF. Taylor tells Madison, go grab a Day Chaser, which is the purpose of this whole thing. Rodrigo introduces boyfriend Tyler. They’re both super cute and should probably run if they want to keep their sanity. Olivia tells Taylor that she’s here to support. That’s all this is, and she just wants to let Taylor know. From years of squelching her feelings when she was with Shep, Taylor says, it means a lot to have Olivia here, and gives her a fake hug. Rod tells Madison about asking Olivia out.

Austen tells Whitney, the bad thing about alcohol is nothing, and Whitney says, author Martin Amis says, alcohol kills the past. Everything else, back, forward, everything is inconsequential. It made Austen more loveable to him. Austen says, they’re celebrating being men. He tells Whitney decides to call Craig, and Whitney says Austen is pissing him off. Austen calls, and Madison answers, House of Beauty. Whitney says he’s missed her, and Austen tells Craig to join them. Craig says, he can be there in 15, and Whitney says, bring Madison. Craig asks if it’s an open invite, but Whitney says, it’s not, just bring Madison.

Craig tells Shep about the call, and Shep says he and Olivia discussed what she and Taylor had discussed, and it’s not good. Taylor and Austen talked to their families about whether a relationship was a good idea or not, and it wasn’t a drunken moment. Craig says, if they had a conversation with their families, it crossed the line. Who makes up these rules? In Craig’s interview, he says he thought it was inappropriate that they were hanging out as friends, let alone friends with benefits. If they hooked up, it would be an insane betrayal to Shep. Shep says, it’s sickening, and calls Austen a sociopath. I wonder what that makes Shep? Craig says, Shep doesn’t have to talk to Austen, but he thinks Shep should come along. Shep says, give him ten minutes, and Craig says he will if Shep is coming, but he’s not waiting for Shep to make up his mind. Shep says he wants to think about it, and Craig says, let him know in five. Shep orders a tequila shot and a beer – a real beer, not a seltzer. Shep says, JT started this, and Craig says he’s leaving. Shep says he’s coming and tells JT that Taylor and Austen contemplated being in a relationship and he’s going to talk to Austen, but he’s not going scorched earth. JT says, it’s really f***ed up, and Rodrigo tells Shep, go talk to him. Shep says he hasn’t seen Whitney since he’s been back, and Taylor comes by. She tells Shep that he should be drinking the product, and Shep says, someone handed the beer to him. Taylor’s talk with Olivia shook her a little bit. He doesn’t want to upset her on her night, but he needs to talk to Austen, and he wants honesty. Taylor says he can get honesty from her too, and Shep says he’s surprised that she and Austen talked about whether they should see each other so quickly. Taylor says, they were never close to hooking up, but Shep says, they talked to their families. Taylor says she talked to her brother and Austen talked to his sister. He says, Taylor was upset with him about some girl, and we flash back to the Reunion when Taylor cried over Shep sleeping with a random shortly after they broke up. He says, meanwhile, she and Austen are wondering if they should do this. He thinks it’s a double standard. Maybe in Bizarro World. What is wrong with these people? Taylor says, right, but she hadn’t cheated during their relationship. Shep says, they spent six nights a week together for two and a half years, and Taylor says, she and Austen were both broken people. Shep says, they used to laugh about Austen’s behavior. She knows everything about Austen, and yet she thought, let’s give this a shot? She says she’s known Austen as long as she’s known Shep. Austen’s a good friend, but horrible at relationships. Leva breezes past, telling Shep, this is a work thing. Shep leaves, and tells Craig, it was a heavy-ass encounter. Craig says he hopes it was, since he stood in the rain waiting. Madison says, the worst case would be if Austen and Taylor actually want be together.

Craig says, let’s do this sh*t, and they get out at Whitney’s house. He tells Shep not to be a p*ssy. Do what he came to do. Whitney says, Shep looks stressed, and asks how tonight went. Shep says he’ll have some red wine, and Craig says, Shep had a heart to heart with everyone. Shep says, Olivia told him about her discussion with Taylor, and Austen asks how that went. Shep says, it went interestingly. That’s the nicest thing he has to say about it. He’d like to talk with Austen in private. Craig thinks they should talk now. He’s curious about what happened between Austen and Taylor. Whitney says, they should address this now, but Shep says he want to eat. Austen says he already ate, and suggests they go talk. In Craig’s interview, he says, Shep is usually the bad guy. Now Shep’s the victim and it’s hard to process all this stuff. How is Shep a victim? It’s not like anyone cheated on anybody. What’s wrong with these people? Clutching Peaches for comfort, Madison tells Austen, just say he’s sorry and he used protection, and Shep and Austen go to another room. In his interview, Craig says, the way Austen is making him feel sympathy toward Shep is crazy. Shep says, Austen told him nothing happened with Taylor, but in reality, Taylor might not have told him everything. Olivia told him that Taylor said she and Austen had a conversation about maybe getting together. Crickets chirp, and Shep says, that takes things to another level, and it’s difficult for Olivia to fathom. Craig asks Whitney what he thinks happened with Austen and Taylor, and Whitney says, there was probably an exchange of fluids.🤮Shep says he always thought Austen and Taylor were super tight and close, but he never thought it was anything more. Austen says, there was a lot of outside chatter, and Shep says, Austen is always vague. In vino veritas. Austen says, in wine there’s truth, and Shep says, speak the f***ing truth. Would Austen tell him if it was true? Austen says, if what was true? and Shep says, if Austen and Taylor hooked up. Austen says, define hooked up.

To be continued…

💭 This about that. To be clear, I have little sympathy for any of the players here, and care not at all if Austen and Taylor got busy, did the nasty, hooked up, or any variation thereof. But I can’t blame Austen for asking Shep to define hooked up. It seems to mean anything from meeting someone to making out to all the way home, depending on which day of the week it is. And wow, what a bunch of babies, especially Shep, trying to shame Taylor with the hypocrite label. I have no doubt he hooked up while he was with her, and what she was talking about at the Reunion was casual sex for him. While I don’t particularly like Austen, she has a point saying she’s known him just as long and he’s been a friend to her. That’s two totally different things. And really, this bunch needs a hobby. Getting down from the soapbox…

October 11, 2022 – Robert Wants Anna To Abort the Mission, Message From Maurice, He’s Not Joshing, It Just Keeps Going, Ex Talk, Miami Reveal, Goodbye To a Grand Lady & Rising

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sonny says he wants to make things right with Michael, whatever it takes, and Michael says, Sonny thinks he can suddenly make things right between them. Sonny says he always wanted to make things right, and thinks deep down inside, Michael does too. Nina slips out to answer a call, and says, everything okay?… She’ll be right there. Michael tells Sonny, it’s too late, and Sonny says, if Michael can look him in the eye, and make him believe he doesn’t want anything to do with him, he’ll walk, and Michael will never have to deal with him again.

Dante says, he wants to ask Dex a few questions about what went down with him and Sonny after Brando was killed, and Dex asks if he should call a lawyer. Dante says, not this time. He’ll keep it simple. Dex has bruises on his face, and his wrists look pretty bad. The way he’s standing there, Dante can tell his ribs are in bad shape too. Want to tell him what happened?

Robert walks into his office to find Anna sitting in his chair, and she says, about bloody time. He says he didn’t know he was expecting company; most people call first. She says, he didn’t pick up. She tells him, close the door and listen to her. If they’re going to bring Luke’s killer to justice, they’ve got a lot of work to do.

Outside Kelly’s, Victor asks if Ava is sure he can’t give her a lift, but she says she doesn’t think that would be very wise. He says, it’s no trouble, but she says, he’s nothing but trouble, and goes inside.

Ava meets Trina, and they hug. Ava says, two days in a row, and Trina thanks her for coming. Ava asks if everything is okay, and Trina says, she heard from her mom that Oz Haggerty was attacked and killed. She wanted to see how Ava is holding up. Is she freaked out? Ava says, don’t worry about her; she’s resilient. Trina’s phone dings, and Ava says, don’t ignore it on her account. Trina says, it’s just Rory. She can’t deal with him right now. Ava says, if there’s a problem, Trina shouldn’t ignore it. She shouldn’t let it fester. Take it from someone who knows. Victor looks through the window. Outside, he tells Johann that he’s just about had it with these distractions. Nevertheless, they should keep an eye on Ava. She’s unpredictable. And of course (🍷) there’s that other loose end they have to take care of, convincing the authorities that Esme Prince is alive and well, and nowhere near Port Charles. Hmm…

Nikolas comes in as Esme is opening the safe, and says, who the hell are you? She makes a mad dash for the patio door, but he grabs her, pulling off her hood. He says, Esme, and she turns around, saying, hello, lover. Did you miss me?

Dex lets Dante into his apartment, and Dante asks if Dex wants to tell him how he got those bruises. Dex says he doesn’t know (really? that’s the best he can do?), and Dante asks if it was from Sonny. Dex wonders why he’d ask that, and Dante says, let’s say, a concerned citizen said Dex was kidnapped and assaulted by his boss. Does he want justice?

Michael says, Sonny is so far away from the man he once called his father, he doesn’t even recognize Sonny anymore. Sonny says,  Michael doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and Michael says, he knows Sonny had his employee tortured. Sonny says, they’re not talking about Dex; they’re talking about them. Michael said he wanted to destroy everything that Sonny built, and Sonny has to hand it to him; he did a pretty damn good job of that. He got the harbormaster fired, and he got every major client stop buying Corinthos Coffee. Michael is looking everywhere but at Sonny, and Sonny says, he’s looking Michael in the eye right now. He’s just saying, let’s come to an understanding. Michael says, he’s past an understanding, and Sonny says, they’ve both hurt each other so much, but they just watched Gladys bury her son. They both know what that’s about; the finality of a life cut short. Sonny tears up, and says, the last time he saw Morgan, he was running out the door, and Sonny never got a chance to tell Morgan that he loved him. And he prays to God that Morgan knows, and he wants Michael to know he’ll always love him. Can they just figure out a way to end this – his voice cracks – so they can be a family again? Michael says, Sonny can’t just throw the word family out there, and expect it to erase everything he’s done, and Sonny says, maybe not, but it’s a good place to start.

Nina walks down a hallway at the MetroCourt, when Valentin taps her on the shoulder. She jumps, and he says he didn’t mean to startle her. She tells him, fine. He said it was important. What is it? He says he needs her help getting into Victor’s room, and she asks why he didn’t ask at the front desk. He says he doesn’t want Victor to know about it. It’s a delicate situation. She says she thought they were thick as thieves these days, and he says, maybe that’s what he wants Victor to think. She says, whatever parlor game the Cassadines are playing these days, she doesn’t have the time. She has a lot on her plate. He says, he knows that. He needs her help. And she can’t ask questions, for everyone’s safety… for Charlotte’s safety. She says, I’m in.

Anna says she feels like she’s hit a dead end, and Robert tells her, he can’t say that surprises him. Vic is slick. She says, he’s cunning. He’s spent his entire life honing his reputation for ruthlessness, and now it’s really paying off. Robert takes it his contacts didn’t pan out, and she says she just mentioned Victor’s name and they evaporated; they ran scared. He says, understandable, but disappointing, and she says she’d hoped at least one of them would be up for the challenge. He says, what’s the next step? and she says, this is where he comes in. He asks what she needs from him, and she says, a warrant.

In Victor’s room, Johann says, Esme Prince just posted from San Tropez, and Victor says, good. Keep leaving those digital footprints of Esme’s idyll in the south of France. This mess has already interfered with the plans he’s been making for years. This ends now. There’s a knock at the door, and Johann opens it to find a weeping Lucy. She shoves the bouquet she’s holding at Johann, and falls into Victor’s arms.

Esme says, Nikolas looks like he’s seen a ghost, and he says he thought… they thought… She says, that she was dead? Ava sure tried her damnedest when Ava threw her off the parapet. He says, that’s not what happened, and she says, how would he know; he wasn’t there. She’s sure Ava has him all roped into her scheme. She’s sure Ava spun some tale, making herself out to be the victim, when she was the one being swallowed by cold, dark water. They both left her for dead. She’s sure they celebrated. He got what he wanted – her, gone. Except she’s not. She’s back. He’s really going to have to try harder next time.

Ava says she can tell something is on Trina’s mind. Trina can tell her anything. Trina says, what’s on her mind feels so trivial with what’s been going on. People are dying, and the maniac who attacked Ava is still out there. Ava says, Trina doesn’t need to remind her of that, but here she is. She’s still alive and she’s going to live her life, and Trina should do same. Frankly, she’d like to hear about something other than life and death. So tell her; what is going on with Rory? Trina says, he asked her to go to a comic book convention, and Ava says, that’s cool. Does she like comics? Trina says, yeah, but it’s out of town, and Ava says, that is a significant invitation. Trina says she’s not sure how she feels about going on an overnight trip with Rory yet. She really likes him, and wants to get closer, but she can’t help thinking about the last time she went on a weekend trip. Ava says, this is nothing like when Trina went to Sonny’s cabin; this would just be the two of them. Trina says, she knows, but she can’t shake the feeling that something horrible is going to happen. Ava says, she understands. It’s hard coming back after a traumatic experience like Trina had. It’s hard to trust again; other people, her own judgement. Maybe she’s afraid she’d be leaving herself open to more pain, more hurt. She has to ask herself, does she really want to let what Esme Prince did to her dictate the rest of her life?

Nikolas says, so Esme came back looking for money, and she asks if she doesn’t deserve something after what Ava did to her. While they got to carry on with their lives, she drifted further and further into deep water. She thought she was going to die, just like he wanted. He says he didn’t want her to die. He searched for her. He had to fight to stay alive when he was adrift at sea. She says, thankfully, a fisherman found her, and put her up in a Canadian hostel until she could regain her strength. He says he supposes the fisherman ran out of money, and she couldn’t access her funds, but coming back here was a mistake. She should have stayed out of the country. She says, of course (🍷). That’s exactly what he wanted; to get rid of her. He says he’s talking about the PCPD. They’re looking for her for attempted murder because she drugged that bartender. She says, the cops have it all wrong, and they certainly can’t prove a thing, and he says, Oz Haggerty gave pretty convincing testimony of Esme’s guilt at Trina’s trial. Interestingly enough, he was found murdered this morning. Is that why she really came back? To finish what she started?

Lucy says she thinks she’s ruined Victor’s jacket, but he says, that’s inconsequential. Why is she in such a state? Is it Morton? She says, it’s Martin. No. He’s still incommunicado, and it’s not him. It’s just her; it’s all on her. He leads her to the couch, and she sits. She tells him, it’s just that, Sasha Gilmore, one of her partners, her husband’s funeral is today, and she couldn’t do it. She couldn’t face Sasha, so she wanted to bring her flowers, and now it’s too late. He says he’s sure it’s not too late, and she says, it is for Brando. He gently tells her, calm down. He’s sure Johann can deliver the flowers for her. She asks if Johann has been drinking (ha-ha! poor Johann), but Victor says, he’s perfectly sober. She says, okay. That would be very nice. The reception is downstairs in the gardens. Victor asks Johann to please oblige Miss Coe, and Lucy thanks Johann as he leaves. Victor asks if she feels better, and she says she does – she puts her head on his shoulder – now that she’s with him.

In one of the hotel rooms, Valentin tells Nina, the less she knows, the better. To get the information he needs out of Victor, he has to put a listening device in his room – this room. That’s where she comes in. As co-owner of the hotel, he needs her to call Victor, and say there’s a problem with his suite, and he needs to move into this suite. She asks why he doesn’t just put a bug in the room Victor’s staying in right now? but he says, that’s not possible, because he has a security guard named Johann who does a daily sweep. Johann is busy, so if they can get Victor into this suite right now, it might buy Valentin a day or two before the bug is discovered. She says, what then? and he says he’ll handle it, but that’s all he’s going to tell her right now. She says she knows Victor is Valentin’s father, but he’s a very dangerous man. She doesn’t like that Valentin is taking him on alone. Valentin tells her, don’t worry about him; he has backup. Multiple partners, each playing integral roles. Hopefully, that includes her, but he needs her to make a phone call.

Michael says, Sonny isn’t the same father who put family above everything else, and Sonny says, he’s done the best he could, but Michael says, Sonny hasn’t. Don’t forget, he’s a father too. He’d never hurt Wiley the way Sonny hurt his children. Sonny asks how he knows that; life is unpredictable. How did he know he was going to lose his memory, and live in a town called Nixon Falls? Michael says, this is about what Sonny’s done since he came back. All of Sonny’s choices have led him to here. Take ownership of that. Sonny says, no! Put himself in Sonny’s shoes. What if Wiley thought Michael screwed up, and started treating Michael the way Michael is treating him? Would Michael just give up on him, or would he do everything he possibly could, and hope to God that Wiley met him halfway?

Dex says, three days ago, Dante thought he was a murderer with a hook. Now Dante is all about justice for him? Dante says, things have changed. His source tells him that Dex was the victim of a serious crime, and it’s his duty to follow up on that. Dex says he commends Dante’s commitment to protect and serve, but he’s good. Dante says, so Dex has no comment on this accusation? and Dex asks if this is an official investigation. Dante says, no, but it can be if Dex wants him to file charges. Dex was brought in as a person of interest in a series of vicious attacks. He’s been told, Dex’s boss Sonny Corinthos turned on Dex as a result. Is there any truth to that?

Anna tells Robert that she needs a warrant for Johann Bauer. She knows Robert has been keeping tabs on him. It can be for unpaid parking tickets; it can be for anything. He asks if she doesn’t think he’d have brought Johann in already if he had something, and she says, he drinks. He fell overboard off the Haunted Star, and the crew had to stop and pick him up. Robert says, and she knows this how? and she says, the point is, can they not use that? Say another boater reported it? He says, intentionally jumping into the water from a passenger vessel would be considered unsafe operation of said vessel, and it would be illegal. However, she’s implied that the jump wasn’t intentional. She says she just wants him detained. Bring him in for questioning. The charges don’t have to stick. He says, so they not only abuse his office, now they’re going to waste taxpayers’ resources for… nothing. She says she thinks taking Victor off the street is for the greater good. And this is for Luke. He says, something about this tells him there’s more going on. Annie, it’s Bobby. Tell him the whole story. She says she wants to, but she can’t. So please help her, because she’s running out of time. He says, that bastard did kill their friend. Okay. He’ll make the call, but this the last time. She says, okay, and Deputy Mayor (or whatever she is) Eileen walks in. She asks if she’s interrupting something.

Lucy tells Victor, she didn’t know who to talk to. Martin is still with his mother, and she kept thinking he would know exactly the right thing to say. He tells her that he’ll do his best, and the room phone rings. Nina introduces herself, and says she’s the new co-owner of the MetroCourt. She’s so sorry to bother him, but they’re going to have to shut the water off in his room. She knows it’s a complete inconvenience, but they’ll have to move him to another suite, at least temporarily. He says, now is not a good time, and Nina says she understands, and she’s sorry for the disturbance, but they have no choice because a room on his floor has a leak. She’ll have a staff member there momentarily to help him move his things. Valentin holds up a bottle, and she says, and there’s a bottle of wine, complementary, waiting for him. She thanks him for his cooperation, and he says, if she’s sure there’s no other choice. She tells him, once again, their sincere apologies, and he says, very well. He hangs up, and tells Lucy, apparently, there’s a water leak somewhere, and they’re going to have to temporarily move him to another suite… Something feels off. She says, that completely explains when she was rushing up to see him, she saw some maintenance men in the lobby. That must be why. She guesses he has to get ready, so she’ll leave him to it. She thanks him, and says, she just feels so alone. He says she’s not alone. If she can just wait until he’s figured this room changing mess out, he promises her his full attention.

Esme says, she was the one who was left to drown, and Nikolas is accusing her of being a murderer? He says, her timing seems suspicious. She shows up in town, and the witness who pointed a finger squarely in her direction, winds up dead. She says, the only thing she’s guilty of is loving his son and trusting him. When she was in that Canadian hostel, that man tried to pin everything on her. How do they know he wasn’t hired by Trina’s people or Sonny’s? He says, give it a rest. He’s done buying the victim act, and she says, he knows her intimately. He doesn’t really believe all those horrible things about her, does he?

Dex says he has no idea what Dante is talking about, and Dante says, that’s his story, and he’s sticking to it, huh? Dex says, Mr. Corinthos didn’t do anything but give him a ride home after he was released. Any other questions? Dante says, just one. Is Dex afraid of retaliation? He knows how his father works. Word is, Dex went through something hellacious. Dex opens the door, and Dante says, if Dex was threatened to keep his mouth shut, he’s in a position to make sure his father doesn’t get to Dex for telling the truth. Dex says, whoever told Dante that Mr. Corinthos tried to harm him is a straight-up liar, and Dante thanks him for his time.

Michael asks how he can meet Sonny halfway when he doesn’t know who Sonny is anymore. Sonny turned his back on everything he once believed in. Sonny says, Michael keeps saying that he doesn’t know him anymore. Michael has known him his whole life; that doesn’t count for anything? A lifetime of being a father? He gets it. Betrayal, anger, disappointment. He lived with that his whole life with his father. You think I wronged you; I think you wronged me. It’s like never-ending circle. One thing Sonny wants Michael to know is that he still loves him. This has got to end before it’s too late. They’ve buried too many people already; Jason… Brando… my father. He cries, and says she doesn’t want it to be them. Michael says, look… dad, when Nina has the bad timing to walk in.

Robert says, his door was shut for a reason, and Eileen says, his assistant told her that he didn’t have any appointments. Anna says she was just leaving. She doesn’t want to keep Robert from his work. She believes he was about to make a phone call. She’ll be in touch. She leaves, and Robert says, she’s right; he’s in the middle of something. Eileen says, his call can wait. She’s here on mayoral business. He says, if Laura wants to speak to him, all she has to do is reach out directly, and she says, Laura may be working remotely, but she needs someone on the ground to keep an eye on things. What was his ex-wife doing here? He says, it’s none of her business, but since she stuck her bid in, they’re planning a trip to Australia, and taking their granddaughter, who wants to play the digeridoo. She says she hopes that’s the case, and he asks what that means. She says, Miss Devane has been known to pull the PCPD into WSB business. Laura confided to her that he and Anna were working on the investigation into Luke Spencer’s death. He says, Spencer was a dear friend, and what he does on his own time is his business. She says, they both know that’s not what he’s doing, and she intends to stop it.

Victor opens the wine, saying, voila! He tells Lucy, at least they had the decency to pick out a very nice vintage. He asks if he can pour her a glass, and she says, after the day she had, she’d love some. He tells her to make herself comfortable. She sits on the sofa, and he says he considers himself a good judge of character. He sits down, handing her the wine, and says, although he’s still getting to know her, he’s already recognized she’s a strong, capable woman; the kind who won’t lose her head when the going gets tough. She says, it’s served her well as a woman in business, and he says, which is why it is so out of character that a floral arrangement would reduce her to a hysterical puddle. She says, doesn’t he know, a scheming vixen such as herself sometimes has a very bad day. He says she’s not a scheming vixen. Nor is she being honest with him. So why doesn’t she tell him what’s really going on here?

Michael says, maybe Sonny doesn’t see how much he’s changed. Maybe Sonny hasn’t changed, and Michael is just now seeing him for who he is. Sonny says, don’t back off now; Michael just called him dad. Michael says he was wrong. Sonny isn’t the man he knew. He abandoned his family; he abandoned his code. He’s capable of anything. Sonny says, Michael has no right to judge him, and Michael starts to walk away. Sonny yells, don’t turn your back on me! and Dante walks in. He says, that’s enough. This ends now.

Ava says, Trina’s safety is important, but it shouldn’t be a motive for going away with her boyfriend. Only she can decide if she’s ready to make that step. Trina says she’s so confused. In her heart, she feels like she’s safe with Rory. She doesn’t feel like he’ll hurt her. Ava says, that’s not insignificant. That’s a lot. Trina says, but what if they go away, and that all changes?

Nikolas says, a lot has happened since Esme’s been away, and she says, he makes it sound like she was on holiday, instead of recovering from his wife trying to kill her. He says, Trina has been exonerated, and Spencer is in Pentenville. In an attempt to give Trina an alibi, he testified that he broke out of Spring Ridge. And Oz Haggerty isn’t the only person who was stabbed recently. She says, that’s terrible; crime’s really up. Do the police have any leads? He says, the killer used a large hook, and she says, sounds gruesome. He says, it was. Ava was the first victim. Esme says, but she survived, and he says, thankfully. She says, karma’s a bitch, and he says, Diane Miller was also stabbed. She gave Esme a pretty tough time at Trina’s trial. She says, remind her, what’s his point? and he says, it’s a pretty big coincidence that three of the victims happen to be people Esme thought wronged her in some way. She says, now he knows not only what she thinks, but how she thinks, and he says, he thinks she’s capable of murder, and he thinks she came back for revenge. She says, that would mean he’s next.

Dante says he paid a little visit to Dex Heller, and Sonny asks, why? Dante asks if he can talk to Michael, and Michael says, Dante is here for him, not Sonny? Sonny goes over to Nina at the bar, and Dante tells Michael, Dex said Michael lied about everything. Michael asks what he’s talking about. Sonny kidnapped Dex, and tortured him to force him into a confession, which they know now would have been false. Dante says, this vendetta with Sonny has gotten out of hand. Now Michael is lying to the police about a crime. Michael says, he came to Dante brother to brother, and Dante says, Michael has a family to protect. This beef he has with Sonny is going to lead him to do things that are destructive. Let it go. Dante’s phone rings, and he says he’s on his way. He tells them, looks like we have another victim, and Sonny says, another stabbing? Dante says, yeah. The wound’s consistent with a hook. It looks like they have a serial killer on their hands. You two are on your own.

Robert says, the mayor’s office does not oversee the DA’s office, but Eileen says, she has the authority to initiate an internal review. It’s called checks and balances, and if she finds anything the least bit off, she’ll hold him accountable. Their citizens deserve better. He says, she’s abusing her power and wasting human resources on this pointless review, and she says, we’ll see.

Anna joins Valentin on a park bench, and asks if everything is going according to plan. He says, yes. Robert? She says, detaining Johann. It’s all up to Lucy now. He says, that’s the part that worries him.

Lucy tells Victor that she’s had some hard times in her life. She thinks they’ve shaped he into the woman he seems to admire, but they also left some scars. Sometimes she feels so helpless and scared, and wants someone who makes her feel safe, and Victor does. He says he’s flattered she feels she can talk to him, and she says, the last time she saw Sasha was the day before her husband died. She basically asked Sasha to give up her financial stake in Deception, which she thought was a good idea at the time, and still does, but it really hurt Sasha. Lucy just couldn’t face her, and it started her spinning, thinking about her future, and what will happen in her life. She tells him, she knows it sounds selfish, but he says, they all have fears that can be illuminated by tragedy. She says, she can’t stop thinking about the future. Will she be all alone? He tells her, not if he has anything to say about it, and she says, that was another reason where she thought she could come to him. When he talks about his plans and his future, he sounds confident, like he’s figured everything out. She finds that so comforting. He says he has his own anxieties. That’s why he made the plans. She says, the plans; right. Can he tell her more of them? It’s really what she needs right now. Could he tell her, just for her?

Esme laughs at Nikolas, and says, sorry; she couldn’t help it. What he’s suggesting is ridiculous. He says, is it? and she says she didn’t intend to stay this long, even though she’s enjoyed their little chat. Don’t worry. As soon as she can afford it, she’ll be out of his hair. He blocks her, and says she’s not going anywhere. She tells him, he’s going to let her go. Unless he wants the police to know about her little tumble off the parapet. He says, what tumble off the parapet? Does she think they’ll actually care when they find out she’s connected to three of the stabbing victims? If anything, her alleged fall gave her a motive. He takes out his phone, and she says, he’s not going to do that. He says, why the hell not?

Sonny asks if Nina is okay, and she says, no. Just when she thought this day couldn’t get more brutal, there’s another victim. What are they going to do? He says he doesn’t have all the answers right now, but he’s going to tighten security, and Nina is going to have to keep her bodyguard for a while longer. She says, that’s no problem. She’s glad Sonny is looking out for her, but what about him? How is he doing, dealing with this after ten rounds with Michael? He says he can handle it, and she says she can’t believe Michael, lying to the police about Sonny. She never thought he’d stoop so low.

Michael bangs on Dex’s door, and walks in when Dex opens it. Michael says, Dex lied to protect Sonny, and Dex says, he told Dante that Sonny didn’t abduct or injure him. Michael says, well done. They have Sonny right where they want him.

Robert leaves a message for Anna, saying, they’ve got a problem. They can’t arrest Johann. Whatever she’s doing, stop it. This mission’s got to be aborted and now.

Anna listens in, and says, you’ve got this Lucy… Don’t overplay your hand. We see the missed call from Robert on her phone.

Lucy says, Victor is going to tell her a little bit more about his plans, and she’s going to pretend it’s a bedtime story. So, once upon a time… He says, for many years now, he’s been working on… The phone rings, and he says, if this is about another room change… He picks up the phone, and says, what now? Eileen says, they’ve got a problem.

Johann knocks on the old room door.

Ava says, it’s Trina’s call. If she’s not ready to go away with Rory, then don’t. That’s perfectly fine, but just know that all romance is a leap of faith. You have to be willing to take the chance. Trina says she doesn’t want to miss out on something great with Rory because she’s scared. Okay. She’s ready. She should text him now and tell him. She picks up her phone, and Ava says she just wants Trina to be happy and have fun. Get herself a light saber. Trina says, too bad she can’t get a real one. Then no one would have to worry about her safety. At least she’ll be with a cop, so there’s that.

Nikolas tells Esme to give him one reason he should let her go, and she says she didn’t want to tell him so soon, but he’s forced her hand. You’re not going to call the cops on us. He says, us? and she says, me and our baby. She opens her coat and rubs when could possibly be a baby bump, or a heavy lunch.

I sigh heavily. Didn’t we just have this storyline? And on the off-chance she is pregnant, Nikolas could just say she’s crazy, and the baby is Spencer’s.

Tomorrow, Anna says, Lucy needs to get out of there – now; Johann says, Lucy isn’t leaving until he’s done; Esme says, it’s her get-out-of-jail-free card; and Sonny says, nothing is going to change Michael’s mind.

🥀 Farewell, She Wrote…

I’ve always admired her career. She did it all, and didn’t compromise. I was blessed to see her in Sweeney Todd on Broadway, and she was absolutely brilliant. There was no one like her, and she will be missed.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Ava visits Franco in the hospital. She asks what he’s got in his hand, and he shows her a can of spray paint. She says, the other hand, and he shows her a bloody knife. Franco wakes up, and he really is in the hospital.

On the phone, Carly leaves a message for Sasha. She says the Do Not Disturb sign is still on Sasha’s door, and housekeeping can’t get in to clean her room. If Sasha doesn’t call back, she’s coming up and using her passkey. Cyrus comes in, and says he needs a table for two.

At one of the lounge tables, Sonny says it’s good Spinelli came to see him. What’s troubling him? Spinelli says he knows Sonny has more important matters to attend to than his personal issues, but he’s in desperate need of Sonny’s astute advice. Sonny says he’ll do the best he can, and Spinelli asks, how do you stand back and do nothing when someone you love is about to ruin their life?

At Anna’s, Anna, Peter, Finn, and Maxie toast. Maxie says she shouldn’t gloat, but she has so much to celebrate. An incredible career, James is healthy, Georgie is back in Port Charles, she has a baby on the way, and a loving, handsome fiancé on her arm. What more can she ask for?

Portia tells someone on the phone that she has correspondence needing immediate delivery. Ava comes into the hospital, and Portia asks if everything is okay. Ava says she doesn’t know. She’s looking for Franco. She heard he was admitted.

Elizabeth stops by Franco’s room with Cameron. She asks if Franco is okay, and he says he thinks he had too much Jell-O; it gave him nightmares. He asks if Cameron shouldn’t be somewhere else, but Cameron says, it’s just a lame party. Franco says, dude, I’m fine, and Cameron says, dude, you fainted. Franco insists he’s fine; it’s a total overreaction. Elizabeth says now that Cameron has seen Franco for himself, he can go to the party. Franco tells Cameron to save some TP. Windymere is long overdue for a good trick.

Nikolas walks into Charlie’s, and Julian says, if it isn’t the Prince of Darkness himself. Nikolas says Julian has no time for wisecracks. Whatever scheme he’s dragging Ava into, drop it. Julian says he doesn’t know what Nikolas is talking about, and Nikolas says Julian is obviously in trouble. Lucky for Julian, he’s going to save his sorry ass.

Portia tells Ava that Elizabeth and Cameron are in with Franco right now. Anything else she can help with? Ava says, actually, she wanted to thank Portia for allowing Trina to continue working at the gallery. She trusts Trina is keeping up her grades. She’s been stressing the importance, and she’s all about the GPA. Portia says she did want to talk to Ava about something that’s come to her attention. Trina is trying to rehabilitate her father’s reputation, and she heard the whole thing was Ava’s idea. Ava says, she was just trying to… and Portia says she’s wanted Trina to have a goal; something to focus her concentration on, instead of feeding her sorrow and anger. She wishes she’d thought of it herself, but she’s glad Ava did, and thanks her.

Trina, dressed as Princess Leia, meets Josslyn, dressed as a cheerleader, outside of Charlie’s. She says it’s no surprise Cameron is late, and Josslyn says she’ll text him to hurry up. They go inside, and Trina says they have important business to discuss about her dad. They sit, and someone in a Darth Vader mask watches them through the window.

Elizabeth makes an excuse to leave, and Franco asks Cameron, what’s going on? Cameron says, it’s just a stupid party. Franco tells him, don’t blame the party because he’s interested in two girls, and can’t settle on one. Cameron says he and Trina figured it out, and they’re staying in the friendzone. He’s good with it. Franco says, and Josslyn? and Cameron says, the same. It’s senior year, and he doesn’t want any obligations. Franco says he should never say that about someone he cares about. Cameron says Josslyn isn’t interested, and Franco asks if she said so. Cameron says not in so many words, and Franco asks how he knows then. Cameron says, trust him; he knows. Franco says if Cameron wants to talk, they can do it any time. Now go have fun. Good talk. Cameron says, good talk, and leaves. Elizabeth comes back, and wonders how Franco got Cameron to go to the party, and Franco says they have an understanding.

Julian tells Nikolas, he’s fine, thanks, and Nikolas says, Ryan called Ava out of the blue, and she drops everything to visit him. Why? Julian says he doesn’t know what Ava is thinking, and Nikolas says, when she came back, she was jumpy and anxious. She seemed desperate, and said lives depend on it. He was wondering whose lives matter to her, and boiled it down to Julian. What did he do this time, and who wants to kill him because of it?

Spinelli asks Sonny to pardon his presumption, but Sonny doesn’t seem like he’d stand idly by while someone he loves risks their future because of an unenlightened decision. Should he step in? Sonny says, don’t get involved in somebody’s personal life. It could backfire in his face, and in Sonny’s experience, it usually does. Spinelli says Sonny isn’t the first to caution him. The superspy from down under went so far as to tell him to play the role of supportive friend. He doesn’t think he can convincingly pull it off. Sonny says, stop trying so hard. Don’t pretend. Give honest support. Spinelli says he has no choice, and Sonny says, just because Spinelli can’t do something, doesn’t mean someone can’t do something in his place.

Carly says she’ll have a waitress seat Cyrus, but he says he doesn’t mind seating himself. He asks how her mother is, when Sasha comes out of the elevator. He says, there’s his dining companion now. They can seat themselves, but he’d appreciate her sending over a server; he’d like a drink. Sasha says hi to Carly, who’s obviously displeased, and they sit.

Spinelli is on the phone, but sees Cyrus and Sasha. He says he’ll text when he gets there, and literally runs into Valentin. Valentin says he’d like to talk about a collaboration. Word is on the street that Spinelli is spectacular at hacking. Spinelli says he wouldn’t consider working for Valentin any more than he’d support Maxie getting married… in polka dots. Valentin thinks they should get to know one another. Peter is Anna’s son, and he guesses that makes that makes Spinelli family if he marries Maxie. Spinelli says he has somewhere to be, and jets.

Maxie opens a gift from Anna, and squeals over a new bag, while Finn talks to Peter on the side. Finn says if Peter has a request, name it. Anna tells Maxie that she’s proud of her, as a creative trailblazer, a mother, and wife-to-be. She thinks it’s Maxie’s time right now. Maxie says Anna is going to make her cry, and Anna knows she’s hormonal. She hopes she can balance work and parenthood as good as Anna does, and Anna says she thinks Maxie will do better. Finn tells Peter, it may require a cummerbund. He’ll keep the party nonsense to a minimum. It means the world to Anna, but he doesn’t want Peter to feel pressured. Peter says he’s honored to be part of the family. Maxie tells Peter, they have to go if they want to make their reservation. They thank Anna, and leave.

Julian tells Nikolas to keep his nose out of Ava’s business, but Nikolas says, Ava’s business is his business. Julian seems on the defensive. One reason could be his late wife Nelle. Nelle and Ryan had some dealings with each other in prison. Julian says, Ryan stabbed her, and Nikolas says he was wondering how Nelle survived. Julian says, maybe she got lucky, and Nikolas says, what if it was planned? He’s willing to bet Ryan and Nelle got to know each other pretty well. Well enough that she left some leverage against Julian, and the possibility of it being shared with someone makes Julian nervous. How’s he doing?

Ava goes to Franco’s room, and asks how he’s doing. He asks how she knew he was there, and she says she stopped at the art therapy room. She ran into Epiphany, who told her that he’d been admitted. She’s worried… He says he’s stopping her now. Whatever she wants, he won’t say yes until she comes clean. What has she done? She asks if he’s delirious, but he says he’s in a hospital bad, it’s given him time to have a clear focus. Ava says she tried to push Nikolas and Elizabeth together, so she could divorce Nikolas and keep the money. He says, and…? and she says, it was a lousy thing to do, and she’s sorry. She hopes he can forgive her. Now it’s his turn. He says he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Whatever he did was in response to what they did. She says she knew it. Not only did he and Elizabeth get Scotty to blackmail her, but they blackmailed Nikolas as well.

Josslyn starts to text Cameron again, when Darth Vader walks in. Trina looks outside, and says, the guys are here. She asks if it’s going to be weird, and Josslyn asks why it would be. Trina says she only has one thing on her mind, and Dev and Cameron join them; Dev dressed as a vampire, and Cameron, a sailor (he looks like the one on the Cracker Jack box). Dev says he didn’t know they were having a planning session before the party, and Josslyn suggests they skip the party, and use the time to help Trina with her dad. Unless someone has other plans. Cameron asks why she’s looking at him, and she says she knows he might be too busy for a big commitment.

Portia asks Elizabeth how Franco is, and she says, hungry and grumbling about the food. She thinks he’s back to normal. Portia says, maybe a visit from a friend will lift his mood. Ava came by.

Ava tells Franco, admit it, but he insists he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. She says she saw them after Scotty handed over the money. He had a check from Nikolas as well. What did Nikolas and Elizabeth do? If Nikolas cheated, and Franco has proof, she needs to see it. Franco says, so she can get her greedy paws on the Cassadine millions, and she says, also to save a life. He asks her to leave, and she says, this is real. If he ever gave a damn about her, give her proof that Nikolas cheated.

Nikolas tells Julian, this doesn’t have to end badly. Julian can disappear. Nikolas has the money for him to go somewhere else and start a new life. Julian asks why Nikolas thinks he would run, and Nikolas says because his life is in Ryan’s hands, and Ryan isn’t known for his kindness and mercy. Julian says he’ll do things his way. When his sister comes to Nikolas for a divorce, give it to her.

Anna looks at two different witch costumes, one white and one black. Finn says he has bad news. There’s an emergency at the hospital, and he has to go in. She says, he’s not trick-or-treating with Violet? but he says Violet understands, and still wants to go to the sleepover at Elizabeth’s. She says, he’s leaving her on solo candy duty? and he says, she has the special skill set for it, and can handle it. She asks which costume he likes, and he asks if this is a test. She says she wants his opinion, and he says he likes what she likes. She says, normally, she’d let that slide, but she can’t decide. He says she’ll look just as beautiful in either, and she says, good job covering. She’s got a lot on her mind, waiting for the test results. He says, you wouldn’t know it, and she says, her training. He says, the WSB? and she says, no; the British. Stiff upper lip. Keep smiling and they won’t know you’re dying inside. He tells her, no matter what the tests say, Peter is still family. She says she knows. She’s not getting ahead of herself, just waiting for the results. She’ll try not to climb the walls or eat too much candy. He says he has to go, but for what it’s worth (🍷), he thinks he likes the light one.

At the MetroCourt, Peter says he loves how Maxie is so open about enjoying her birthday. She says, of course (🍷) she loves her birthday. She loves the presents and attention, but also how much she has to be thankful for. They’re about to kiss, and suddenly, Spinelli is between them.

Carly watches Cyrus and Sasha from the bar. Cyrus asks if Sasha is ready for another drink, but she says, to be honest, she’s not sure what she’s doing there. He says she’s having dinner with a new friend, and she asks if that’s what they are; friends. He says he’d like them to be, but supposes if he never makes it beyond concerned bystander, he’ll be fine. She says she doesn’t mean to be rude. She appreciated his kindness last night. She was in a bad place. He asks if he can be blunt. She doesn’t seem to be much improved. Would it help if she confided in someone? She says, someone like him? He says he is right there.

Sonny comes in, and tells Carly, sorry he’s late. He was talking to Spinelli. He asks, what’s wrong? and she says, that. He looks at Cyrus and Sasha, and Carly shakes her head

Ava tells Franco, give her proof that Elizabeth was with Nikolas, and she can get a divorce. He says, and save someone’s life. Whose life? She says she wants to tell him, but she can’t; it’s too dangerous. He says, just stop. He’s over being her pawn. She sits next to the bed, and says, he’s angry; she gets it. He has every reason to be. Franco says he does. She tried to drive a wedge between him and the woman he loves more than air. She says she won’t leave Nikolas without getting the money, and he says, she and Nikolas are both addicted to the game they’re playing. They deserve one another.

The doorbell rings, and Anna comes out as a witch in white. It’s Valentin, who says, trick-or-treat. She asks, what’s up? and he comes in. He says he thinks Peter has a Damien Spinelli problem, and Anna says, Spinelli is never going to accept that Maxie is getting married to Peter. He needs to get over it, like Robert. Valentin says, where Spinelli goes, Jason tends to follow.

Maxie tells Spinelli, she and Peter are one a date; it’s her birthday dinner. Spinelli says he couldn’t help overhearing, and wanted to wish her many happy returns. He asks if she got his gift, and she says, The Beginner’s Guide to Dungeons & Dragons; so thoughtful. Spinelli says, the nature of the game lends itself to her imagination, and he begins to babble about it, saying how it can be a family effort. She says she has no idea what he’s talking about. Georgie is too young to play. Spinelli says, she won’t always be, and he thinks it could be great family fun.

Nikolas goes to the hospital, and tells Elizabeth, they need to talk. She asks, what’s wrong? and he says, everything with him and Ava. She says she can’t do this, but he says if he doesn’t get some honest advice from someone he respects, he’s going to lose his wife.

Sonny wonders what Cyrus is doing with Sasha, and Carly says, his guess is as good as hers. She’s been trying to get in touch with Sasha. Sonny asks if she thinks Cyrus has something on her, and Carly says she doesn’t know, but she’s worried. Sasha was at Nina’s apartment last night, and didn’t look good. She hates to say it, but she thinks Sasha is using drugs.

Sasha says Cyrus doesn’t seem like the listening type, and he says, that’s fair. If he makes a mess of it, there’s nothing stopping her from walking away. He promises not to hold it against her, but admits he’d be disappointed. She seems like a friend worth having. She says, he had to help her to her room last night, and just now, he basically said she was a mess. Why would he want to be her friend? He says he enjoys spending time with her. She has a generous heart, given all the things she told him last night before they parted ways. Besides, he has a knack for reading people, and he’s confident their friendship could be mutually beneficial.

Carly tells Sonny, she spent 15 minutes trying to clean Sasha up; fix her hair and makeup. She tried to get Sasha to talk… Sonny says, and…? She says, the way Sasha was acting… and Sonny says, and now she’s having drinks with a drug trafficker.

Cameron and Josslyn go back to the table, and Trina asks, what’s going on? Cameron tells her, he said he’d be there for her and he will. Trina asks, who wants hot chocolate? and Josslyn says she’ll get it; her treat. Cameron says she’ll probably need help, and follows her. Dev wonders what that’s about, while Darth Vader continues to watch them.

Cameron asks what Josslyn means, he’s too busy for commitments? She asks if that isn’t what he said, but he says he’s not too busy to help a friend. If that’s what she thinks he implied, she’s misinterpreting it. Dev asks Trina if she thinks they’re okay. Cameron seems tense. She says, everyone is tense. They should just go to the party. They have time to figure it out. Halloween is just one night, and a party awaits.

Portia gets Franco’s chart from a nurse, and looks at a scan.

Nikolas tells Elizabeth, he thinks he screwed things up with Ava. It’s a convoluted and dysfunctional mess. Elizabeth is the only person he trusts to help him figure it out. She says, sorry, but he can’t trust her either.

Ava runs into Julian outside of Charlie’s, and says she came to get a drink. Where is he going? He says, to get some air, and clear his head. Nikolas was there. She asks what Nikolas wanted, and he says Nikolas suspects what Ava is up to with Ryan. He doesn’t know exactly, but he’s close. He wants to send Julian packing on his dime, and give him a shiny new life. She wonders why Nikolas would do that, and Julian says, because of her. If he’s alive, she’s happy, and if she’s happy, Nikolas is happy. Julian thought Ava had hooked Nikolas just to take advantage of him. She says she doesn’t know what to think or believe about Nikolas anymore, but she still has the fake divorce papers; she can use them on Ryan. He asks if she thinks Ryan will go for the papers being real, and she says, they were done by an expert forger. She wouldn’t have known they were fake if Nikolas hadn’t told her. She can convince Ryan for long enough to get the letter back. She’ll be back later, when she really needs a drink.

Maxie tells Spinelli that she’s happy he suggested a family game. Olive branch accepted. She’ll make time to teach Georgie, but they need to start with something simple, like charades. She says she needs to powder her nose, and leaves. Peter says Spinelli’s about face isn’t lost on him either. He appreciates Spinelli making an effort, but hopes it’s on the level.

Valentin tells Anna, he offered Spinelli work, and Anna says, and Spinelli turned him down. He says, it was the way Spinelli turned him down. He said he’d no sooner work with him than approve of Maxie marrying Peter. Anna says, of course (🍷) Spinelli feels that way, but that doesn’t mean Jason is involved. He says she knows Jason better than he does. Tell him. If Jason thought Peter was a threat… Anna says, Peter’s not a threat. He was exonerated. Obrecht framed him and Jason knows that. They have an arrangement. She told Jason to back off, and he has. She doesn’t think they need to worry about Jason. The doorbell rings, and it’s a registered envelope. Anna signs for it, and comes back in,. Valentin says he hopes she doesn’t mind. He took the liberty of opening a bottle… He looks at her, and says, good Lord. Is she all right? She says, it’s the test results. If Faison had the marker, then it’s over. She’ll never know for certain if Peter is Alex’s son or hers.

Trina wants to take a picture with Darth Vader, her Star Wars long lost family connection. If he doesn’t mind. Darth poses with her, and Cameron takes the photo. Dev is worried they’re going to be late, and Trina tells him, chill. They start to leave, and she turns around to tell Darth, may the force be with you. She’s forgotten her phone on the bar, and it rings. Darth picks it up. He sees a call coming in from Portia, and looks at a picture of Taggert and Trina.

Franco toddles out to the reception desk, and asks Portia if she’s seen his wife. She says she’ll track Elizabeth down; go back to his room, please. She goes back to the phone, and says, sorry, Terry. The schedule says she’s on call. Is she in the building? She asks if Terry can meet her. She’s in need of an oncology consult.

Nikolas asks why he can’t trust Elizabeth. She’s the only person he can talk to. She says she has no idea what they did with this whole stupid post-nup thing, but when Nikolas and Ava were playing her and Franco, they were playing him and Ava.

At Pentenville, the guard tells Ava that Ryan will be there shortly. Have a seat. She sits on her side of the glass.

Julian grabs Darth Vader, who says he just found the phone. Julian wonders if he’s interested in the phone or the girl it belongs to. He’ll make sure she gets it. He tells Darth to beat it before he calls the cops. Darth says he hasn’t done anything, and Julian says, let’s keep it that way. Get out. They struggle, and the mask comes off. Its Taggert.

Sonny asks Carly if Michael knows about Sasha’s possible habit. She doesn’t think so, and feels she should tell him. She knows Sasha has made mistakes, but she’s a good person. Sonny asks, why get involved? They know what Cyrus really is, and what he wants is to get information.

Sasha tells Cyrus, she’s sorry, but she has to take off. She has an early day tomorrow. He says, it’s okay. Clearly, she has trepidation about him. He imagines she’s heard gossip about him from Michael’s parents. He’ll settle up. She has his number. If she need  someone to talk to, or anything, call him day or night. He always has her well-being in mind. She says, he’s very generous, and goes to the elevator. A man comes out, and hands her a purple envelope, saying, she dropped this. She says she didn’t, but he says, sure she did, and puts it in her hands. He jets, and she looks inside. There’s a baggie of coke in it. The elevator doors close.

Anna tells Valentin, Doc asked about her history with Faison, and she told him how reckless she’d been. He says, maybe she wasn’t, and Faison was with Alex the whole time. She says Valentin is desperate to exonerate her, and he says, she was a double agent. She has blood on her hands, as they all do. He thinks she’s wasted years feeling guilty about something she didn’t do. He doesn’t need proof, but he thinks she does.

Spinelli says that Peter is skeptical of his good intentions is understandable. He assures Peter, he’s doing his best to support Maxie with the utmost sincerity. His perfect wish for her is to have a happy, stable life. Peter says he’s going to do everything in his power to fulfill that wish. Forgive him for doubting. Since he has a new life, a life he never dreamed possible, it’s hard to shake the notion that something, or someone, is waiting to take it away. Maxie comes back, and says, maybe Jenga. Giant Jenga. Peter’s phone rings, and a female voice says, hello, Peter.

Anna takes the results out of the envelope, and says, she has an answer.

Peter asks, who is this? She says, he doesn’t recognize the voice of his old friend Helena Cassadine?

Tomorrow, Anna says, it’s nothing but lies; Franco wonders what’s happening to him; Ava tells Ryan what he wanted is delivered; and Jason suggests Cyrus has found an alternate route.

🧟‍♀️ She’s Alive…

I told you she’s not dead. Helena will never die. Neither will Faison. He’ll figure out some way to come back without a brain. Or it was his eviler twin who died.

Southern Charm

It’s a new season, and Cameron (as well as Naomie and Chelsea) has left the show, so no more narration. We started off with different scenes showing various things that happened when the pandemic started. Then…

Six months earlier. Shep’s pup Craig is a little dog now, and the cutest thing. Michael gave Patricia some dog apparel to go through, and she chose a tutu for her new Pomeranian pup Peaches. Human Craig told us he’d been living in a professionally decorated house, and felt like an adult, but a pipe blew, and asbestos went everywhere. Now he’s living with Austen until the house is cleaned up. His pillow company is doing well, and he’s making over 1000 pillows a month. Not him personally, but a manufacturer. I actually love his pillows, although I doubt he would have gotten very far with them without the advantage of being on the show. Austen marveled that a plant Madison had given him was still alive. I identified since I’m terrible with houseplants.

Austen explained that he and Madison had decided to take a break, which IMO means broken up, but they came back together after six months or so. They checked out Instagram, and heard Thomas in the background of one of Kathryn’s posts. Kensie and Saint are getting big, and Kathryn told us, custody has been settled at 50/50 after three years. She said she and Thomas were getting along, and she’s hoping it sticks. Thomas, who made a briefer than brief appearance, looked fat. No judgement, just an observation. In her interview, Kathryn admitted she was staying at his house (see yesterday’s post links – she’s having her townhouse renovated), but they’re not back together. I didn’t think she was that much of an idiot. We flashed back to Kathryn wondering how she was going to explain it to the kids if Thomas went to jail. In her interview, she said her grandmother passed away after a battle, a reprieve, and a final battle with breast cancer, and she thought her grandmother had a lot of guilt in not preparing her for the world – i.e. Thomas. Kathryn wished she could have given her closure.

Madison said she was glad to have a son, since a mini version of her would be a nightmare. Hudson is quite the little man, and she also co-parents with her ex. She said having a child had pushed her to be successful. I wondered, why is she dating Austen then? and apparently, I wasn’t alone in that thought. In her interview, Madison said everyone asked if she’s out of her effing mind, but they just can’t stop. I guess she can’t quit him.

Patricia told Michael that Shep was coming over, and she wondered if they had enough liquor in the house. She tolf Shep that she had a new watchdog, Peaches, and Michael brought out a tiny white cloud of a pup. He told Patricia that he was having a life-is-good party, and wanted it to be nice, but funky; no fox trots. He was considering a Dumb and Dumber theme, and Patricia thought that would be appropriate. He said he was inviting everyone, and Patricia would get to meet new girlfriend Taylor. Patricia asked if he was inviting Madison, and he said, of course. Shep said it didn’t give him joy to have strife in his life, and Patricia said it was a modest start. In Shep’s interview, he said you could fight the elephant in the room, or dance with it. He was going to dance with it. We flashed back to Shep being combative last season, and he admitted he can take things too far. He wanted to slow the process of becoming an angry old man, since he was showing the signs, and started seeing a therapist.

Shep settled on a Dumb and Dumber Formal, and Craig suggested he invite Cameron. In Shep’s interview, he said Cameron hadn’t been hanging around with any of them, since last year left a bad taste in her mouth. He didn’t blame her. Craig and Kathryn met for lunch, and Kathryn ordered a bourbon and Coca Cola. In Kathryn’s interview, she said she went to rehab for weed, and that’s it. She’s at the point now, if she wants a drink, she’ll order one, and it’s nobody’s business. They talked about Shep’s upcoming party, and Kathryn asked about Taylor since they hadn’t met. Craig said he’d cut Shep off for months; Shep was being an a-hole. Kathryn said he’d be a d*ck to her, then act like nothing happened. Craig said, between Taylor and a therapist, Shep was a better person. But not wonderful, since he’s still Shep. In his interview, Craig said Shep is happy when he’s with Taylor, and not a lonely, miserable POS. He said he’d been trying to get Cameron to come out, but she gets mom guilt. Kathryn said she heard Jason was having an affair, but Craig said that was absurd and not true. He said he loved gossiping, but this was out of line.

Taylor and Shep gave dog Craig a bath. Shep explained that he and Taylor had met in a bar. She lied, saying she was a marine biologist and her specialty was shark sex. He grilled her since he knew about shark sex. He didn’t elaborate, and I don’t think I really want to know anyway. They saw each other a little bit here and there, then it became more, and now she’s at his house five nights a week. He says he’d been so single-minded, and single, for so long, it was hard to change. but she was making it easy. She’s blond and cute, and looks like most of the other girls he’s dated. Shep definitely has a type.

While they got ready for the party, Austen asked if Madison was nervous, but she said Shep should be the one who’s nervous. In Madison’s interview, she said if she could forgive a threesome video, she could forgive someone calling her white trash.

Craig met with new cast member Leva, who’s one of Cameron’s best friends. He told Leva about what Kathryn said, but Leva said, no way would Jason have an affair; it was a miserable Kathryn move. WTF? She told Craig, back in the day, Cameron wasn’t so nice to Kathryn – we flashed back to that – and it was Kathryn’s way of getting back at Cameron. She thought there also might be some jealousy, or maybe Kathryn felt alive in the middle of drama. I’d thought it was all good at the end of the last reunion, but who knows what happened between then and now.

I wasn’t sure how Dumb and Dumber was supposed to factor in, but I guess it was the attire. Austen wore a powder blue top hat, and Shep had a matching ruffled tuxedo shirt. Madison wore black and white striped pants with orange suspenders, which I thought was closer to Beetlejuice, but I don’t really know Dumb and Dumber that well. I saw it, but it was like, a million years ago. Shep also invited a guy named Peter, who apparently slept with Madison at some point. Somehow this ended up in the conversation, and Peter’s girlfriend Liz wasn’t too pleased.  In Shep’s interview, the producer asked if he’d invited them to screw with Madison, but he said he didn’t even know they’d slept together until it came out at the party. Shep admitted to having planned things like that in the past, and we flashed back to when he invited Austen’s threesome girls to a party Austen and Madison were at. He told the producer, it hadn’t crossed his mind that it would be a problem. In Madison’s interview, she said when she saw Peter and Liz, she knew Shep hadn’t changed, and that bitch was trying to set her up. Entertaining a one-night stand she’d had when she was single, was on him. Whitney escorted Patricia, who she said she’d thought Shep had been kidding about Dumb and Dumber. We met new cast member John, who has two sons in San Diego, and just moved back to Charleston. He’s a nice looking dude; a little shaggy, but I like it.

Patricia wondered where the food was, and in her interview, said you can’t have a party and serve liquor without serving something to eat. It was a typical Shep party; not her kind of party. I wondered where the seats were too, since I saw zero pieces of furniture other than the bar and a couple of tables. In Patricia’s interview, she said Madison acted like a grown-up, and Austen was a child. She thought Madison needed someone successful and ambitious. Not a frat boy. John made the rounds, and we saw a clip of him playing guitar and singing. His attractiveness rating went up a few points since he’s pretty good.

Kathryn told Craig that Cameron had texted her regarding what she’d said about Jason. Craig admitted he’d told Cameron that Kathryn said rumor had it, Jason was having an affair, even though he’d promised not to say anything. Kathryn said she was glad he was being honest, although I can’t imagine she didn’t want to thump him in the head. In her interview, Kathryn told us that Cameron said, give her a break, and be a good human. Kathryn said she was, but she doesn’t give a flying what Cameron thinks. Cameron had hurt her to the core, and Cameron’s an a-hole.

This season, Madison breaks up with Austen; Leva wants to see change in this town; Thomas gets a girl pregnant, and ♫ she’s havin’ his baby ♫; Leva confronts Kathryn about her white privilege; Madison and Kathryn argue; covid hits; and the monkey emoji is addressed.

🎃 Classically Halloween…

I wouldn’t call all of them classic, but here’s Purewow’s list of very decent horror films. Since I love the genre, some of my personal favorites are Reeker (an unfortunate title for a good movie), Ravenous, Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse: Death Proof/Planet Terror (each is good on their own as well), The (original) Howling, American Werewolf in London, and 13 Ghosts (the remake with Tony Shalhoub). My all-time favorite film to watch on Halloween is The Midnight Hour, but it’s a little difficult to get your hands on. It was a TV movie from the 70s, starring LeVar Burton and Shari Belafonte, and I had to buy a bootleg DVD since I had zero luck finding it. It’s not exactly scary, although it has a couple of moments, but it epitomizes Halloween for me.

👻 Counting the Hours…

The trick-or-treating seems to be an iffy proposition at this moment, but regardless, the dogs and I will be dressing up, and eating our traditional Halloween meal of Taco Bell’s Nachos BellGrande. Whether you’re counting down or not, stay safe, stay inventive, and stay not getting involved in someone’s personal life. Have someone else do it for you.
