What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Scout’s birthday is being celebrated at the Quartermaines, and Drew tells Carly that he has the balloons set up in the foyer. Carly says, when he throws a party, he really goes all out, doesn’t he? and he asks if she thinks it’s too much, but she says, Scout’s going to love it. He says, not just the balloons, but all of it, and she says, it’s not like he has a 100-foot bouncy house outside and ponies walking around. He says, they do have two horses and an alpaca, and she says, because they live here in the stable where they belong. He wants Scout to feel at home on her birthday, and this is their home. He says he guesses he just missed out on so much time with her. Any chance he has, holidays, birthdays, he just wants to hold on and never let go. She says, he should hang onto that. He should stay present with his daughter. You can’t do that if you’re focused on revenge. He says he didn’t even mention Nina’s name, but she says, he didn’t have to. She could hear him thinking about it. He thanks her for snapping him out of it, so he can focus on what’s important. He kisses her, when Scout comes in with Sam, Jake, and Danny. Scout says, he won’t believe it. There’s so many balloons by the front door. Drew says, they’re all for her. Happy birthday. He hugs her.

Maxie lets Felicia into the apartment, and thanks her for coming by with zero notice. She has a ton of work to do for Deception tonight. Felicia says she’d move heaven and earth to spend time with her grandchildren, but as thrilled as she is to be here, she has to ask. Why isn’t Spinelli available? Maxie says, because she sent him packing.

Dante finds Chase at the hospital and asks, what’s he got? Chase says he just talked to the officer on duty. Assault and battery. The victim was brought here for treatment. He tried to question him just to see what was going on, but the guy’s not talking. He didn’t even give them his name. Dante looks through the door window of victim’s room and says he knows who that is. That’s Selina Wu’s bodyguard.

On the phone at the penthouse, Sonny says, everything ready… Okay. Keep him posted. Thanks. Ava walks in, and he says, is there something she wants to ask him? Go ahead. She says, really? He hasn’t exactly been forthcoming of late. He didn’t say anything to her yesterday after his talk with Nina. He says he’s sure Nina is going to tell her all about it, but if she wants to ask him directly…

John walks into Anna’s office, and she says, please come in. What can she do for him? He says he wants Sonny Corinthos out of his life – for good, and she’s going to help him.

Alexis walks into the Quartermaines’ with a stack of gifts and asks, where’s the guest of honor? Scout says, right here, and Alexis tells her, happy birthday. Scout asks if all those presents are for her, and Alexis says, there’s more in the car. Scout thanks her, and Alexis says, she’s welcome. She can’t take all the credit though, because some of them are from TJ and Molly. Scout asks where they are, and Alexis says, they both have very mean bosses who wouldn’t let them have time off. Drew asks Jake to get the rest of the presents from the car and takes the stack from Alexis, saying, he’ll put them with the other presents. Carly asks Sam where Dante is, but Sam says, he couldn’t get off of work, but she thinks he’s going to make it by later. She looks around and sees the others have gone, and tells Carly, it’s just the two of them now. She wanted to say that she thinks Drew is a little bit more… relaxed. Carly says, she thinks so? and Sam says, yeah. Carly says, they talked before, and he was having a really hard time coming out of Pentenville with everything that happened there. She really thinks he’s slowly, but definitely, moving past it.

Chase comes back from the reception desk and reads to Dante from his notes. Someone called 9-1-1 to report a disturbance on the pier. When officers arrived at the scene, they interrupted a fight between two guys. One, Mr. Li, had been badly beaten, and the attacker appeared to be going in for the kill, when the officers identified themselves as the police. The attacker then fled on foot. Luckily, they apprehended him and he’s in lock-up now. Dante says, so Li must have ID’d the attacker, but Chase says, that’s where things get interesting. Li’s assailant is another one of Selina Wu’s guys. He goes by Morse. Dante says, so this wasn’t random, and Chase says, infighting in Selina Wu’s organization. What does that mean? Dante says he thinks it means everything’s about to get even more dangerous.

Anna closes the door and asks if John would like to take a look around. He might notice, this is the office of the Port Charles Commissioner of Police. Then he might come to the conclusion that the individual occupying said office is, in fact, the Port Charles Police Commissioner, and he’d be right. And who doesn’t love to be right? He says, obviously the Port Charles Commissioner of Police likes it a lot, and Anna says, she likes it a lot. In fact, it’s one of her favorite pastimes. So do they need to have a discussion about the meaning of jurisdiction over a nice cup of tea or something, or is there some other way she might assist him? He says he apologizes, and she says she accepts. She gestures for him to sit down, and he does, saying, he had a bear of a day, and he shouldn’t have taken it out on her. She says, but he did, and it does seem to be a bit of a pattern. He says, it is? and she says, yeah. He barged in on her operation at Pentenville and tried to shut it down. He says he had a legitimate reason to request she leave his witness alone, but she says, that wasn’t a request; it was a demand. He says, and she accused him of obstructing his own investigation, and she says she shouldn’t have questioned his integrity. She’s sorry. He says he was not expecting her to apologize, like ever, and she says she wasn’t expecting him to apologize. So it’s a banner day for both of them. He’s always been good friends with Robin, and she respects that friendship. So there’s really no reason for them to be at odds with each other. He says he can think of one reason, but their difference over Sonny aside, he does respect her, and he wants to say thank you. She says, for what? and he says, for talking him down when he barged in here, acting like he owned the place, and for at least trying to diffuse the tension between them. He wants them to be able to work together. She says she wants that too. Why don’t they make that happen? (Hmm… Is this a couple in the making?)

Ava says, what goes on between Sonny and Nina is his business. She just wants to let him know that her friendship with Nina doesn’t mean she’s choosing sides. She’s staying out of it. He says, wise decision – there’s a knock at the door – because nothing’s more important right now than Dante, not Nina. He goes to the door and says, come on in, Spinelli. Spinelli says sees Ava and says he assumes Sonny must be taking him up on his offer to learn the ways of Dungeons and Dragons, but Sonny says, he can talk in front of Ava. Spinelli says, as you wish. All systems are go for tonight. Ava says, all systems, huh? What’s happening tonight? Sonny says, tonight, he’s bringing his enemy down to his knees.

Maxie says, can Felicia believe Spinelli? He knows everything that happened with Austin and Peter, yet he still lied to her so easily. Felicia says, it sounds like his heart was in the right place, but Maxie says, his heart had nothing to do with it. This was his savior complex. Can she imagine anything more insulting? Felicia says, uh… yeah, and Maxie says, for sure, but he still lied. She knows she’s told her fair share of fibs in the past, but she can’t believe Spinelli would manipulate her this way. Felicia says, that’s not what happened, and Maxie says, what’s not what happened? Felicia says, it wasn’t Spinelli’s idea to move in with Maxie and help her with her finances. It was hers.

Willow and Michael come in with Danny, and Sam wonders if there weren’t more children at the party. Willow says, Scout wanted to visit the horses and the alpaca, so Wiley and Leo are – in Leo’s words – hosting a tour of the stables. Sam says, but Cody’s there, right? and Michael says, yeah. Sam says, perfect. And Danny and Jake brought in the rest of  their grandmother’s presents? Danny says, turns out it was a one-man job. Is there anything else he can do? Sam says, everything is under control. Just go have fun. Danny says, cool. He left his coat down at the stables. He’ll be back. Sam says, he leaves that coat everywhere, when Kristina comes in with Blaze. Danny hugs Kristina, and tells Blaze, hi, obviously starstruck. Blaze says, hi, Danny, and he says, she remembered his name. Blaze says, of course (🍷) she did, and he leaves. Kristina hugs everyone and says she thinks most of them know Blaze, her girlfriend. Sam says, of course (🍷). It’s good to see her again. Blaze says, it’s great to see Sam, and Willow says she thinks they met at Rice Plaza. Blaze says she remembers. It’s nice to meet her again.

Alexis is getting some party stuff from plastic tubs, when Drew joins her. She says she’s glad they have some time alone. She wants to talk to him about something. He says, great. What’s up? She says she understands this is a touchy subject, but she’s sure he’s heard Nina is now the publisher of The Invader. He says he did hear that. How’s that going? She says she has reservations. Many. She said she was fired from Crimson for personal reasons. Is that true? He says, if she’s asking if this has anything to do with Nina turning him and Carly in to the SEC… She says, that’s exactly what she’s asking, and he says, then the answer’s yes. She was not acting as a concerned citizen trying to right a wrong. Her motivation was strictly vindictive, and if she can exploit federal law to her own ends, should she really be running a major magazine? And as the owner of Aurora, he felt like he couldn’t trust her judgement anymore. She says, that sounds like something he’d say in a press release or a court of law. Tell her what he really thinks, and he says, between the two of them? Someone as reckless and self-absorbed as Nina is capable of anything. If he were Alexis, he’d watch his back.

Maxie says, so it was Felicia’s idea. All right. Explain. Felicia says she knew Maxie was in financial trouble and wouldn’t take her help, even though she clearly needed it and Felicia had the means. Maxie says, except she doesn’t. She kept dipping into her savings. Felicia says, those were the means, and Maxie says, but she couldn’t pay Felicia back because she’s a bad investment. Felicia says, that’s why she called Spinelli. She knew Maxie wouldn’t accept charity from anybody, so she had to get creative. Spinelli was helping her help Maxie. Maxie says, Felicia should have respected her boundaries. It was important to her that she be the one to fix her finances. Felicia says she understands that, but she’s Maxie’s mother and couldn’t just sit back and watch while she was struggling. Maxie says, okay, she gets that. She absolutely does not approve of Felicia’s methods, but if she could see her kids needed help, she’s capable of doing much crazier things, whether they wanted her to or not. She wouldn’t care. She’d just do it. Felicia says, then Maxie forgives her? and Maxie says, absolutely. Felicia says, and she forgives Spinelli, but Maxie says, no way. Felicia says, why? Not that she’s complaining, but why is Maxie so much angrier with Spinelli than with her, especially since it was her idea? Maxie says, because Spinelli is not her parent, and he doesn’t have the right to conspire with her mother to fix her finances. Felicia says, maybe not, but… Maxie says, there’s no maybe about it, but Felicia says, Spinelli is family. He’s the father of Maxie’s oldest daughter and her oldest grandchild, and Maxie knows he’d do anything for her. Maxie says, except respect her autonomy, and Felicia says, because she told him to. Maxie knows she would do the same thing if the positions were reversed. Maxie says, that is precisely the problem, and Felicia says, that they both care enough about each other that they’d do anything for each other? but Maxie says, that is not the problem. It’s because… It’s because she… Felicia says, what? and Maxie says, because she fell in love with him again. Spending all this time with him, having him live in her house. It was all under false pretenses. Felicia and Spinelli didn’t just meddle with her finances; they meddled with her heart.

Spinelli says, so whoever is targeting Sonny is expecting him to be holding a summit, building bridges, as it were, giving them an opportunity to take out both parties at once. Meanwhile, he’ll be monitoring the situation with cameras set up around the warehouse. Ava asks if Sonny is sure Selina’s guy did as he asked, because Li has betrayed her before, and Sonny says, he made sure Li carried out the orders. She says, good. Question. Sonny says, go ahead, and Ava says, isn’t it highly unlikely this enemy is going to show up there himself? Won’t he, too, be monitoring from a safe distance, letting his hired guns do the job for him? Sonny says he’s counting on it.

Dante tells Chase, this assault on Li sounds like a botched execution attempt, which means it relates to the FBI’s investigation that Cates is running. Chase says, but only Li can confirm that, and Dante says, then let’s hope he’s able… and willing.

Jake comes in and is startled to see Blaze. He says, oh… hi, and she says, hi. He says, she’s… Everyone laughs, and Kristina says, this is Blaze, her girlfriend. She tells Blaze, this is Danny’s brother, and Blaze says, nice meeting him. He says, nice meeting her too. He’s a… Willow asks if Jake can track down Danny and let him know it’s time for cake. He left his coat outside. Jake is obviously at a loss for words, seeing Blaze, and says, uh… yeah. He leaves, and Michael says, three… two… one. Jake comes back in, gets his own coat, then leaves again. Blaze laughs and shrugs.

Sam finds Drew and says she was going to send out a search party for him. He says he was just making sure everything was… yeah… She asks if he’s okay, and he says, yeah. He thought he misplaced this Pin the Tail on the Donkey – he shows her a stack of tails – but… She says, crisis averted. She was going to ask if he could do a favor for her. He says, she can ask him anything, always. He wants her to know that. She says she’s not sure about that. He’s been having a pretty rough time ever since… He says, it hasn’t exactly been sunshine and rainbows, and she says, is it ever? (Not here, I can assure you.) He says, but he’s trying to focus more on the silver lining than the clouds, and she says she’s glad to hear that. He wonders what she wanted to ask him, and she says, Danny. He’s been having a really tough time lately, and she knows it’s more than teenage boy stuff. She guesses what she wanted to say is, is there any way Drew can talk to him? He trusts Drew and she thinks he would confide in Drew. She doesn’t think he’d talk to her about anything like that. He says he’d be happy to. He’ll spend some time with Danny. Maybe he’ll take him to a game or something. She says, okay. That sounds good. But is he sure he’s up for it? She doesn’t want to put too much on his plate. He says he’s learning that it really helps focusing on somebody that means more to him than himself. She can count on him. She thanks him and gives him a hug.

Jake goes down the footbridge near the boathouse calling for Danny. He says, they’re going to cut the cake. Danny jumps up by the benches, and Jake asks if he found his jacket. Danny says, yeah. He put it in the car. It’s fine. Jake asks if he’s okay, and Danny says, yeah. It’s a kids’ party. Jake says, well, it’s time for cake, so… He sniffs the air and asks if Danny smells something, but Danny says, no, and starts walking. Jake says, it’s really… sweet. He notices something under one of the benches and picks it up. He examines it, then looks at Danny.

Anna says, despite their differences of opinion, she does understand how John feels about Sonny, and he says, with all due respect, he doesn’t think she does. Sonny Corinthos is now the head of one of the most powerful organized crime syndicates on the east coast. So forgive him if he doesn’t buy into the narrative that underneath it all, Sonny’s a really good guy. She tells him that she wouldn’t say he’s one of the good guys, but she also doesn’t think John has taken his full measure. John says, meaning, and she says, meaning that he’s not a saint, but he’s not a sadist who wants to destroy and torment people for sport. John says he just had a conversation with Sonny that would suggest otherwise, and she asks if that’s why John came barging in here, demanding she get Sonny out of his life. He says, she’s good. Anybody ever tell her that she should be a cop? She says, too often. All she’s saying is, maybe he has issue with the man Sonny used to be, rather than the man he is now.

Dante introduces himself and Chase to Li and asks if Li can tell them what happened to him today. Li says, someone tried to kill him, and Chase says, not just someone, one of his colleagues from Selina Wu’s organization. Dante says, so he’s guessing this isn’t the result of an argument gone bad, right? They have Mr. Morse in custody. He was following orders. Li says he doesn’t talk to cops, and Chase says, his boss wants him dead. Dante says, he walks out of here, he’s probably got days, hell, even hours to live, and Li says, death comes to us all. Dantes says, it does, but judging from the way Li looks, he’s guessing Li fought like hell to stay alive, so he’s not really buying Li’s zen on dying thing he’s trying to sell them. Chase says, how about this? They put in a call to the DA and make sure he’s protected, and Li says, how comforting. Dante says, he’s right. Talking to them is probably just going to buy him some time. A day, maybe another after that. He doesn’t know. But keeping his mouth shut? He’s willing to bet Li ends up in an unmarked grave by the morning. So you tell me, what’s it going to be?

Sonny says he wishes whoever’s targeting him would get in his face, but he knows they’re too scared, and Ava says, so what’s the endgame here? Sonny says, somebody will be sent to eliminate him and Selina, and they’re going to grab them, and let them take them to whoever’s behind the shooting, and this thing is going to end. Ava asks when they leave, but Sonny says, they’re not going anywhere. She says, yes, they are, and walks over to her coat. Sonny asks Spinelli to do him a favor. He thinks they’re done. He’ll keep Spinelli posted. Spinelli says he eagerly awaits Sonny’s communication, and leaves. Ava puts on her coat, and Sonny says he appreciates what she’s doing, but she’s not part of this. She says, on the contrary. If this plan of his is going to work, he needs her.

Felicia tells Maxie that she’s so sorry. It never occurred to her that this would happen this way. Maxie says she never thought Spinelli would lie to her like this, but Felicia says, it isn’t really like that. It’s not like they set out to deceive her. Maxie says, were Spinelli’s pipes actually broken? and Felicia says, so they did set out to deceive her, but if they’d offered Maxie the money, she would have just said no, again. Maxie says, at least it would have been her decision, and Felicia says, yes, and it would have been a bad one. The point is, she and Spinelli were in a lose-lose situation and since there was no good decision to make, they made the least bad decision to help her. Deceiving Maxie like that, helping her with her finances while providing free babysitting, was all an act of love on both their parts. Maxie says she knows that, and she knows that Spinelli would never lie to her out of malice. That is not her main problem. Felicia says, then what is? and Maxie says, the thing that’s bugging her the most is, she couldn’t tell Spinelli was keeping something from her. Felicia says she could understand why that might be troubling for Maxie, but it’s not like what happened with Peter. Maxie says, way to sugarcoat it, and Felicia tells Maxie that she’s just saying, Spinelli never lied to her about his mafia connections. Maxie says she’s always known about this (what?), and Felicia says, he never tried to steal her baby or isolate her in a forest cabin… Maxie says, okay. She gets where Felicia is going with this, but that is a very low bar to clear. It’s just that, aside from Felicia and Mac, Spinelli was always the person she could trust the most. Felicia says, doesn’t this prove that he still is? and Maxie says, maybe it proves that her acting on her feelings for Spinelli was a huge mistake.

Jake asks if this is Danny’s, holding up a vape pod, and Danny says, no, it isn’t, but reaches for it. Jake says, it’s garbage now, and Danny says he can’t just throw that out, but Jake says he can’t leave it lying around. Danny says, okay, fine, it’s his, reaching for it again, and Jake says, he’s vaping? Danny says, who is he to even care? and Jake says, maybe he doesn’t want his brother to get popcorn lungs. Danny says, calm down. It’s not like really smoking. Jake says, they’re not having this conversation here. Right now, they’re going back to the house to celebrate their sister’s birthday, with their whole family there. Is Danny trying to get caught? Danny asks, why? Is Jake going to rat him out?

Anna tells John that recently, she’s gotten to know Sonny as a person, and he’s always been a very good friend to her daughter Robin. John says, come on, and Anna says, just in the very same way he was a good friend to John’s brother Stone. John says, a lot of good people see the best in bad people (agreed), and she says, he’s done a lot of positive things for this community. John asks if she’s talking about the hospital wing Sonny bought in his brother’s memory. She does know crime lords use philanthropy as a way of laundering money. She says, her point is, while she wouldn’t hesitate to arrest him if she had evidence of a crime, she still doesn’t believe he should be reduced to just that. Because if John hopes to take him down one day, he can’t just focus on Sonny’s crimes and flaws, which admittedly are many. He has to take into account the good things as well. If he just lets himself be blinded by prejudice, he’ll miss the opportunity to apprehend Sonny when it presents itself. John and I both ponder this.

Ava says, if Sonny is going to sell this mediation, he’s going to need a third party to arbitrate. That’s the play, isn’t it? Which means he needs a rep from a third family. What’s he going to do, call what’s left of the Novaks? The Buscemas? Does he trust them? She happens to be a former member of the Jerome family. Her presence could help sell this thing. He says, she’s not wrong, and she says, he and Selina are the bait, but she could be what convinces his enemy that this meeting is legit and draws them out. Plus, if she’s being honest – he says he can’t wait to hear this one – his circle of trust has gotten pretty small. It’s so small, she’s in the center of it. He doesn’t have to do this alone. Don’t do this alone. Let her help him.

Maxie says, she and Spinelli have been down this road before and it did not work out, and Felicia says, a long time ago. Maxie says, doesn’t she think that proves that maybe it never will? and Felicia says, how? Maxie says she and Spinelli literally admitted to each other how they felt, and then instantly, everything fell apart. Felicia says she wants Maxie to listen to her and really take this to heart, and Maxie says she’ll try. Felicia says, Maxie may think that when Spinelli moved in, that’s what caused her to fall in love with him, but the truth is, they’ve always had a connection. Not just as friends, not just as co-parents. They’ve always been a little bit in love with each other, even when they were with other people. Maxie asks how Felicia knows that for sure, and Felicia says she’s seen the bond between Maxie and Spinelli. Everybody’s seen it. Nathan saw it. Ellie saw it. Mac is still annoyed by it. And Spinelli, now he sees it. The only person who says they haven’t seen it is Maxie. She thinks it’s time for Maxie to get honest about what she’s afraid of. Maxie says she doesn’t know what she would do if she and Spinelli tried to be together and she lost him for good, and Felicia says she can understand why Maxie would be afraid of that, given all the loss she’s had to endure. Putting our hearts on the line is really scary. Maxie says, it’s not just her heart though. Georgie would be devastated if she and Spinelli didn’t work out. And Bailey Lou and James, they’re both crazy about Spinelli. Felicia says, Maxie is right. There is a lot at stake here. She can’t tell Maxie what decision to make. Maxie says, since when? and Felicia says she can tell Maxie that she’s a survivor. She’s endured so much and come out of it stronger each time. Maxie says she’s just tired. How many growth experiences should one person have? Felicia says, what she has to know is, if things don’t work out with Spinelli, then she’ll survive that too. Or the two of them could get back together again, older and wiser than they ever have been, and stumble into some happiness they never dreamed is possible. It’s up to her to decide if it’s worth the risk.

Jake tells Danny, don’t worry. He’s not going to tell anyone. This is his business. He holds the pod out, but pulls it back when Danny tries to take it. Danny says, what the hell? Give it back. Jake says, not going to happen. He might not be a snitch, but he’s not going to let Danny do this. Danny says he’s not messing around. Give it back. Jake says, or what? and Danny says, or he’ll take it from Jake. Jake says, oh really? This is that important to Danny that he’d try to forcibly take it from him? Danny says he wouldn’t just try, and he grabs Jake, saying, give it back. Willow calls to them, and Jake slips the pod in his back pocket. She says she thought she heard shouting. What’s going on? Jake says, they were just messing around, and Danny says, pretty much. She says, they’re taking a family photo. Come on.

Michael says he wanted to tell Carly this sooner, but he didn’t have a chance, and she says, something wrong? He says he talked to Dante, and Dante told him that he thinks there’s a link between whoever’s targeting Sonny and Olivia Jerome’s death. She says she knows, and he says, she knows how? She says she had a conversation with Special Agent John Cates of the FBI. Does Michael know him? Michael says, they just met, and she says, okay. Is there more to that story? He says, just that he’s worried about dad, and she says, her too. She doesn’t know what to do about it. Does he have any ideas? He says he told Josslyn to bring Dex back to town, and she says, what? Why would he do that? Why would he do that to Dex? Michael says, he’s a grown man. He can decide whether or not he wants to come back. She says, if something happens to Dex, his sister is going to be devastated, but he says he’ll cross that bridge when he comes to it. She asks how he thinks Sonny is going to react. He was furious when he found out Michael hired Dex to spy on him. Now he went behind Sonny’s back again. Michael says, if he’s angry, he’s angry. He’s going to help his father whether he likes it or not. Kristina comes in and says, what’s going on with dad? Why does he need help?

John tells Anna, so O’Neill says they’re looking for a dead man. At least someone who’s dead on paper. Anna says, according to Cyrus. His trustworthiness is questionable at best. Plus, the mic dropped out just as he was acquiring that piece of intel. John says, maybe there’s a way to corroborate his story. Any ideas? There’s a knock at the door and Anna says, yeah? Dante comes in with Chase and says, sorry to interrupt. It’s important. John asks if it’s about his case, and Dante says, he means their case. Yeah, it is. Anna asks what he’s got, and Dante says, Sonny and Selina Wu are making moves. (Well, that’s one way to put it, but I got a mental picture of them dancing.)

Selina waits at the warehouse, and her man comes in. She asks if everything is in place on their end for tonight, and he says, yes. And Mr. Corinthos assured him it’s all taken care of, but… She says, but what? and he says, the associate seems odd. She says, Mr. Spinelli is certainly unique, but very good at what he does. Sonny comes in with Ava and a bodyguard, and Selina says, Miss Jerome, what a surprise. She wasn’t expecting her. Ava says, Miss Wu. She hopes Selina doesn’t mind her joining them at the last minute. Selina says, actually she does. This wasn’t part of their plan. Sonny says, plans change. She can trust Ava.

Maxie calls Spinelli and gets voicemail, saying he’ll return the call posthaste. She says, hey, it’s me. Call me.

Michael tells Kristina, it’s just that he hasn’t talked to dad in a while. Has she? She says, not a whole lot. She’s been busy. Why? What’s going on? Is there something she should know about? Carly says, they were just wondering how things are going with her and Blaze, and Kristina says, things are good. It’s still new, so… Anyway, she’s been asked to summon them for cake and photos. Carly says she’s got to get in there, and leaves. Kristina asks Michael if he’s sure everything’s okay with dad, and Michael says, yeah. He’ll be fine. She says, okay, and leaves. Michael says he’ll make sure of it.

Dante says, Sonny and Selina coerced her bodyguard Li to leak to his source that they’re meeting up tonight, and Chase says, presenting a prime opportunity for Li’s boss to take Wu and Corinthos out. Anna says, so they’re setting up a trap to smoke out their assassin, and John says, which is exactly what he didn’t want to happen. He knew if they let Corinthos in on what was going on, he’d go vigilante and take their suspect out. Anna says, they can’t let him take the law into his own hands, and John says, whatever Corinthos and Wu are planning, they have to stop them. Anna says, let’s go, and they all leave.

Selina says, let her congratulate Sonny on the trust he’s established in Miss Jerome, who is – let’s not forget – the mother of one of his children. Sonny asks what that means, and Selina says, he has incentive to trust her. She doesn’t. He says, Ava acting as a mediator makes the meeting look more legit, but Selina says, her presence further destabilizes an already volatile situation. That’s not a risk she wants to take. She starts to leave, but Sonny says, it’s already in motion. Let it play out. Selina says, at the risk of all of their lives? and he says, they’re all targets at this point. Here’s what they’re going to do. They‘re going to let their enemies come get them.

On Monday, Tracy tells Brook, that is a scheme worthy of a Quartermaine; Cyrus asks Laura, what precipitated this step forward in their relationship; in the hospital, Heather screeches to someone to get away from her grandson; and Sonny tells Selina, let’s get down to business.

👏 Kudos. The vape storyline isn’t just timely, it’s important. I’ve never been interested in vaping, but had a friend who literally died from an addiction to it. He was in the hospital, being treated for an unrelated (but who really knows?) illness. He was told to knock it off, but couldn’t even stop vaping while in the hospital. Even though the prognosis had been good, he went downhill and passed away. IMO, it makes sense that vaping is worse than cigarettes since you’re also inhaling moisture, which cannot be good for your lungs. I mean, inhale too much moisture, you drown, right? Okay, off the soapbox, but applause to GH for including it.

Being a part of the Housewives universe doesn’t look like a fun experience to me. And I still wouldn’t bet the farm that what Leah says isn’t true. It’s been said all along that alcohol flows freely from Bravo and they tend to egg on problematic situation.

🎭 Because They’re a Fake, Baby…

I hadn’t considered this, but it sounds like something Jax would drum up.

Not buying this romance at all.

Still on the fence about this. The only thing is, it’s doubtful they would have involved their kids in a ruse like that.

October 30, 2023 – An Old Friend Goes To See Sonny, Pirates Of the Mediterranean On Deck & Cat

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

At Pozzulo’s, Gabe knocks at Sonny’s office door and says he has a visitor. She told him to tell Sonny that there’s a broad here to see him. Her word, not his. She wouldn’t tell him who she was; said it would spoil the surprise. But she said they were old friends. Sonny goes into the restaurant and sees a woman with her back to him. He asks if she’s the broad who wants to see him, and Lois turns around, saying, hello, handsome. They hug.

Brook sees Eddie/Ned in the solarium, and says, there he is. She’s on her way to sign a new major client, Blaze. He says, congratulations, that’s great, and she says she’s meeting Blaze at Charlie’s. Would he like to come? She’s super nice and down to earth, especially for someone that special. She sings all different genres of music. Maybe she’d be interested in that new song he’s working on. He thanks her for the invite, but he thinks he’ll pass. And when he finishes writing that song, he’ll be the one who sings it. She says, suit himself – Tracy walks in – but as for her, she’s going to go make music history. Tracy says, or Brook could stop hiding from her and sit down and discuss her future.

Austin sits at Charlie’s bar, when Blaze walks in. Kristina says, look who it is. She’s back. Blaze says, maybe she couldn’t stay away.

Finn and Elizabeth make dinner together in the cabin. As she makes salad, he tells her, a few more minutes of marinating, and the steaks will be ready to grill. She says she didn’t tell him. Cameron is dating a girl from college. She doesn’t think he’s completely over Josslyn yet, but it’s a step in the right direction. He says, wow. He knows she and Cameron are close, but it still surprises him that Cameron would tell her about the girl he’s dating. She laughs and says, he didn’t; Jake did. She still can’t believe she has two kids old enough to date, and he says he’s dreading the day Violet is old enough to date. Teenage boys, run! She tells him to prepare himself. It’s going to be here before he knows it. He says he’s not comfortable anymore with this conversation. Let’s grill. He tells her, fifteen minutes, and she says she can’t wait. He asks her to wish him luck, and she says, good luck. They kiss, and he says, she’s amazing.

TJ walks into Charlie’s and joins Austin at the bar. Austin says he’d buy TJ a drink, but the bartender seems busy, and TJ says he didn’t come here for a drink. They need to talk about Austin’s cousin Mason.

At the gallery, Ava and Laura hug, and Ava says, welcome home. Laura says, it’s good to be home, and Ava says she’s glad Laura survived her journey to Chechnya. Laura says, it was hard, but she’s glad she did it. By the way, she heard about the kidnapping. She’s so glad Ava is safe and got through that ordeal. Ava says she prefers not to think about it. It’s just so fortunate that she was rescued by Sonny’s bodyguard and Dante. She’s focused on getting her life back to normal. Laura says she hates bringing Ava more bad news, but she wanted Ava to know they weren’t actually able to find Nikolas. Ava says she’s so sorry. She knows Laura will never stop searching for her son. It must be so frustrating to exert all that time and energy and hope, and come up with nothing. Laura tells Ava that she wouldn’t say nothing.

On the phone, Elizabeth says she really appreciates her gram staying with the boys for her. Tell Aiden that tomorrow they’ll bring him apples for his pies, and they promise to pick them themselves. Finn comes back in, and she says she has to go. Dinner’s ready. Love you. Finn asks if everything is okay at home, and she says, yes. She was just calling to check in. He says, him too. He called Chase when he was outside. He said Violet is great. Everything is well there. She says, good, and he says, now that they’ve checked in at home, maybe tonight could just be about them. She says, it sounds really nice.

Ava says she doesn’t understand what Laura is trying to say. Either she found Nikolas, or she didn’t. Laura says she doesn’t mean to confuse Ava. She doesn’t actually know where Nikolas is today, but she and Doc did find definitive proof that he’s alive and well, and she thinks he’s living somewhere in Europe. Ava asks if she talked to him on the phone, but Laura says, no. They found out he was making financial transactions. Ava asks if there was any proof it was actually Nikolas doing that. Anybody could have hacked his accounts and been doing that. Laura says, it’s nothing like that. They went to Geneva and met with his personal banker, who told them that Nikolas had been in the bank in person several times this past month.

Austin says he doesn’t give a damn about his cousin Mason, but he’s very grateful to TJ. Austin flashes back to TJ running into Mason’s room as he’s smothering his cousin. TJ runs to the bed, telling him, stop, and pulling the pillow away. Austin says, this doesn’t concern him, and TJ says he doesn’t give a damn about Austin’s cousin’s life – he yanks the pillow away – but he cares about Austin’s. There’s a cop right outside. Mason’s not worth it. At Charlie’s, Austin says he was about to throw his whole life away, but TJ stopped him. Thank you.

Brook says she’s not hiding from Tracy. She just doesn’t live in this house, so they’re not going to run into each other anymore. And she has zero interest in discussing her future with Tracy because of the way Tracy’s treated her. Tracy will have no part in her future. Brook walks out, but Tracys follows and says, Brook can avoid her now, but sooner or later, Brook is going to need her. (She calls Brook missy, and I swear I’d deck her if I was Brook. I hate that.) And when that day comes, Tracy will forget this day ever happened, and Brook will sit down and discuss her future with her at Deception. Brook leaves, and Eddie asks if Tracy really thinks threats and blackmail are the most effective way to influence her granddaughter. Tracy shrugs and says, it always worked with him.

Blaze says she’s here to sign the final contract with Brook to manage her music career, and Kristina says, that’s so exciting. She won’t keep Blaze. Blaze says, the meeting’s not for a little while. She came in early, hoping Kristina would be working. Kristina says she works every day, so Blaze could have texted or called to see if she was here, but Blaze says, what’s the fun of that? Besides, she decided to leave it up to chance. She figured if Kristina was working, that would be a good omen. Blaze’s phone chimes, and Kristina asks if everything is okay. Blaze says, it’s Lucy Coe – again. She won’t stop texting about the offer her and Maxie Jones made her to be the new Face of Deception. Sasha walks in, and Blaze says, uh-oh. That’s her. Sasha Gilmore, aka the woman she’d be replacing.

Sonny says he knew Lois was in town. He was figuring out when she was going to visit him. She says, same old Sonny. He never misses a beat. Always knows what’s happening. He asks what she’s in town for. Not that he cares, because he loves seeing her. She says she’s here to see Brook. Tracy screwed her over on a business deal, so she wanted to make sure her daughter was okay. He says, Brook is tough like her. She’ll be able to take care of Tracy. Trust him. Lois says, she shouldn’t have to, but she doesn’t want to talk about the Quartermaines. She wants to know what’s happening with him, because she heard he eloped. Carly must have loved hearing about that. He says, Carly’s fine. They’re trying to get along for the family. She asks how that’s working out for him.

Sonny and Lois sit down to some biscotti and coffee, and he asks, how’s the old neighborhood? She says, it hasn’t changed a bit. Everything is exactly the way he remembers it. He says, that’s what he likes to hear, and she says, although old Mr. Coluso the butcher, he retired and his grandson took over, and all of a sudden, the cuts of meat weren’t up to their expected proportions. So she had to take him out back and show him what’s what. Sonny says he’s sure she terrorized him when she took the clever out of his hands, and she says she did. And she never even had to touch the clever. He says, it’s nice to see things haven’t changed, and they laugh.

Eddie asks why Tracy is making this so much harder than it needs to be. Just offer the company to Brook, and if she turns it down, take no for an answer. She says, there are so many things she finds annoying now that he’s decided to live his life as Eddie Maine. Middle-aged man running around like a frat boy, his music, but most of all – Olivia walks in – his intentional naivete. Olivia says, Mother of God. Will Tracy give it a rest? Stop badgering Eddie. Tracy says she knows Olivia isn’t responsible for her son losing his memory, but she is responsible for how she’s handling it. She’s his wife. She has a legal right to have him committed. And if she doesn’t think shock therapy is appropriate, at least get him some intensive psychotherapy. Unless of course (🍷) she’s starting to prefer Eddie over Ned. (I know I do.)

Kristina introduces Sam and Sasha to Blaze, and Sasha says, she looks so familiar… Oh! She saw Blaze perform at the Nurses Ball. She sang a duet with Chase, right? Blaze says, guilty as charged, and Sasha says, she was incredible, and the way she stood up to her manager was really inspiring. Blaze thanks her. She appreciates Sasha saying that. She tells Kristina that she has to go take care of something and asks her to tell Brook that she’ll be right back. Nice meeting Sam and Sasha.

TJ says he remembers seeing Mason in Austin’s office a while back. At the time, TJ said he thought he’d met him before. Austin says he remembers, and TJ says he finally made the connection. Does Austin have any idea what Mason did to him? Austin says he doesn’t, but knowing Mason the way he does, he’s reasonably sure it’s something terrible. He’s sorry for whatever Mason did to TJ. TJ says, Austin was willing to smother Mason, so he must have done something pretty bad to Austin. Didn’t he have any other alternatives? Austin says he doesn’t think he could have done anything else. Except maybe he could have turned his cousin in to the police. That probably would have saved a lot of grief for everybody. TJ says, right, and leaves.

Laura asks if Ava is okay, and Ava says she’s sorry. She just needs a moment to absorb Laura’s news. Laura says she’s really sorry. Let her apologize for her son. She knows he treated Ava unconscionably during parts of the marriage and certainly the divorce. Ava says, if it makes Laura feel any better, she gave as good as she got, and then some. Laura says, it’s just such a shame, because she knows how much Nikolas really loved Ava, and she believes Ava loved him too. Who knows? Maybe after enough times passes, he’ll change his mind and come back to Port Charles and maybe they’ll be another chance for them. Ava says she doesn’t know. If Nikolas ever did love her, he doesn’t anymore.

Lois tells Sonny, so then, her Aunt Kiki – who’s had one too many glasses of chardonnay – falls flat on her face after toasting the bride and groom. But without even missing a beat, she jumps up on the bar, does a full split, grabs the bartender by the face and kisses him right on the mouth. Sonny says, tall, blonde, she was a character, and Lois says, she was, but this was before she married Lois’s uncle, who was a fireman. She had a thing for firemen. He says, they were all wilder back in the day. Speaking of which, has she seen Ned, or Eddie? He doesn’t know what Ned’s calling himself these days. She says she has and it’s so bizarre. All of the Quartermaines, every one of them, has a different theory about what’s going on with him. He asks, what’s her take? and she says she honestly doesn’t know. She’s still trying to figure it out.

Olivia tells Tracy, as she’s said repeatedly, she’s not having her husband committed. And she can’t believe Tracy would use the term shock therapy, which they have done in half a century because it’s considered barbaric. Tracy says she’s just trying to motivate Olivia into doing something, and Olivia says, that’s Tracy’s problem, because she’s not going to force him into therapy he does not want to do. If he wants to strum his guitar and be Eddie Maine for the rest of his life, she’s going to make peace with it. Tracy says, of course (🍷) you are. Why should she accept an executive husband, a responsible father when she can have Eddie Maine, a permanently arrested development adolescent rock and roller. Tracy storms out.

Cody and Dante join Sam and Sasha, and Cody says, sorry they’re late. He got stuck helping Dante run some errands. They were working on some home improvement project, and this guy is impressively useless at a hardware store. Sam asks if they were able to a stud finder, and Dante says, if that’s what it’s called. Sasha says, it sounds totally made up to her, and Dante says he knows maybe Cody has done some odd jobs in construction, but how did Sam know what a stud finder is? She kisses him and says, there are a still a lot of things he doesn’t know about her.

At the PC Grill, Lucy tells Martin that Blaze is going to be here any minute. What is she supposed to say to her? Hey there, guess what? Our majority shareholder had a temper tantrum and overruled her great idea. Martin says, let him understand something. All she wanted to do was rescind her offer to Blaze to be the new Face of Deception. She could have just called. Lucy says, no, no, no. She’s not going to rescind her offer, because she’s not bowing to Tracy. Blaze is the perfect spokesmodel now for their company and it wouldn’t hurt Sasha. Every success Deception has is a success… She’s here. Blaze comes over to the table, and Lucy says, she looks lovely. She introduces Martin, who says, it’s a pleasure to meet Blaze. Lucy speaks incredibly highly of her. Blaze says, it’s nice to meet him too, and Lucy tells him to grab a chair. She asks Blaze to join them, but Blaze says, no. She doesn’t want to drag this out. While she’s flattered by Lucy’s offer to be the new Face of Deception, she’s thought about it, and she’s going to have to pass. And not that Lucy’s asked for her opinion, but for what it’s worth (🍷), she thinks they should stick with the face they’ve already got. She leaves and Lucy looks sad.

Brook asks if Kristina has seen Blaze; they’re supposed to meet here. Kristina says, Blaze told her to let Brook know that she had to run a quick errand, but will be back shortly. Brook thanks her, and Kristina asks if she can get Brook anything. Brook says she’ll take a club soda. She needs a clear head for what she’s about to do.

Looking at her phone, Laura tells Ava, sorry. Duty calls. Ava says she totally understands, and Laura says she has to get going, but it’s so good to see her back in her gallery, safe and sound. Ava says, as bad as it was, she knows the worst is behind her, and it’s time to focus on her future. Laura says, that’s very smart of her. They’ll talk soon. She leaves, and Ava sits down, her head in her hands. She calls Austin who’s still at the bar, and he says, finally. He’s happy to hear from her. She says, her gallery. Now.

Finn says, you’d think he would have diagnosed his own OCD years ago, and Elizabeth tells him, you know what they say; doctors make the worst patients. She never stops learning new things about him. He says he doesn’t think having OCD is that interesting. He thinks she’s the fascinating one. She’s this amazing artist, but she’s also this compassionate healer who happens to be the Head Nurse at a major metropolitan hospital. She says, he’s just being nice, and he says he’s been described a lot of ways over the years, and nice is never on the list. Trust him. She tells him that she doesn’t care what anyone says, because she knows he’s nice… and handsome, and so, so smart. The whole backgammon thing, she can take it or leave it, but she also knows he’s a really good friend, an amazing father, and an excellent doctor. He says he can’t stand any more of these compliments. It’s making him very, very uncomfortable. So he’s going to kiss her now before she can say anything else about him. She says her plan worked, and kisses him. There’s a song part, and they go to the bedroom and get busy.

Sonny shows Lois pictures on his phone. He says, those are his grandkids. That’s Rocco, Dante’s son. She says, he’s so grown-up and he’s handsome, just like his grandpa. He says, and that’s Michael’s kids, Amelia and Wiley, and she says she can’t wait until Brook has kids. She and Chase would make beautiful children. She thinks Chase is a good guy. Does Sonny know him? He says, yeah, he works at the PCPD with Dante, and she says she knows, but cops aren’t his favorite. He asks what she’s talking about. He loves everyone. She says, he does? What about the Feds? She heard they called him in last month. What was that about? He says, a simple case of mistaken identity, and she says, uh-huh.

Eddie says he owes Olivia a big thank you, and she says, for what? He says, she accepts him for who he is, and she defended him. She defended his right to be himself. She says she’s not going to try and make him be someone he’s not. He’s a spectacular musician. He’s a wonderful, kind-hearted man. He thanks her, and she says, but she’s never going to stop missing her husband, and leaves.

Lucy tells Martin that they don’t even know if Sasha still wants to be the Face of Deception after the hell she went through. She really is still recovering. They don’t know if she’s camera ready or will ever be camera ready. Lucy has lots of classic products she needs to rebrand and new products she wants to launch, and Blaze would have been absolutely perfect. Martin says, except for the part where she doesn’t want the job, and Lucy says, the reason they can’t do this is because of Tracy. She really did bulldoze everybody so she would get her way. She didn’t even have the chance to do her full court press to win Blaze over. She could have had Blaze signed up, locked down, and she wouldn’t even have time to reconsider. He says, so Lucy wanted to trap her, but she says, no. What she wanted was to not take this lying down. You know what she’s going to do? She needs to show Tracy exactly who she’s dealing with. She jumps up, kisses Martin loudly on the cheek, and dashes out.

Cody says he took a look at Dante’s renovation plans for the family room, and if they really made a push, they could probably finish it in four days. Sam asks if he’s offering to help, and he says he is. Sasha says, count her in too.

Blaze tells Brook, sorry to keep her waiting, but Brook says, don’t worry about it. Kristina says she’ll give them some privacy, and Brook says, so let’s get down to business.

Austin arrives at the gallery where Ava is waiting for him. He says, she’s beautiful, and he’s just so glad she’s okay and that she called… She says, he’s drunk, and he says, yeah. It’s been a hell of a day. She says, yes, it has, because she just found out that Nikolas is very much alive.

Laura meets Martin at the Grill, and he says, there she is, his baby sister. They hug, and he says he’s so happy she’s back. He missed her so much. She says she missed him too, and they sit down. She says she’s really sorry she didn’t reach out sooner, but he says he can only imagine how she has to manage the city and their wacky family. She says, what are they going to do about their wacky brother?

Austin says, Nikolas is alive? and Ava says, yes. Laura tracked him to Geneva. While she didn’t see him, his banker told her that he’d been to the bank several times in person. He says, that’s great. Isn’t that great? No more blackmail. She says, yeah. It occurred to her, for months now, she’s been following orders from him, Mason, and their mystery boss, because if she didn’t, they’d deliver Nikolas’s body to the police. But if Nikolas is alive and well in Switzerland, she just needs to know one thing. Did he know about it?

TJ goes into Mason’s room, and Mason says, what’s up, doc? Did TJ come to finish what his cousin started? TJ says he’s a doctor. He took an oath to save lives, not end them. Mason says, so he guesses TJ expects a thank you for saving his, but TJ says, no. He came back here to explain why. He would never condone murder, even for someone as despicable as Mason. Sure, Austin would have most likely been caught, and it would have wrecked the rest of his life. That was a factor, but the biggest reason he stopped Austin was, it would be letting Mason off way too easy. Once Mason is convicted for his many crimes, he’s going to spend the rest of his life in prison. Sure, it will be for what he did to Ava, not what he did to TJ, but as long as Mason is locked up forever, he sees that as a win.

Lois says, in some ways, Sonny is different, but in a lot of ways, he’s the same old Sonny that she knows and loves. He says, different how? and she says she doesn’t know. Maybe he’s more… confident, if that’s even possible. She knows what it is. He’s more centered. Hey, she doesn’t know about him, but she’s starving, and that biscotti’s just not doing it for her anymore. He says he’ll get the chef to make something for her, or he’ll make something for her, and she says she’s Gloria’s daughter. Don’t insult her like that. He says, kitchen’s in the back, and she thanks him, and heads for the kitchen.

Brook says, here it is, giving Blaze a folder. The official contract for her to become Blaze’s manager. As she promised, it’s everything they discussed and agreed upon, but she encourages Blaze to read it again. They both made the massive mistake of signing contracts with that sleaze Linc Brown. She’s learned her lesson. She will never again not read the fine print and advises Blaze to do the same. She also had her attorney keep the legalese to a minimum, so she’ll know what she’s signing. Blaze thanks her, and says she appreciates Brook has been where she’s at and that Brook has her best interests in mind. But just in case, she’s going to read it through anyway.

Sasha says, just to be clear, she wants to help, but has zero experience with carpentry or any kind of home improvement. But she’s a hard worker and willing to take direction. Cody asks what Sam and Dante say, and Dante says he feels bad accepting their help. It’s a lot of hard work. Sam says, and at the end of the day, all they’d be getting is beer and a couple of pizzas, and Cody says he knows they mean well, but if they don’t cut it out, they’re going to start hurting his feelings. They’re offering to help because they’re Dante and Sam’s friends.

Basking in the afterglow, Elizabeth says, everything about this is magical, and thanks Finn for planning such a special trip. He says, she doesn’t have to thank him. It’s amazing. She says she had so much fun today. She loved tapping those maple trees. He says he’ll never think of maple syrup the same way again, and she says, her neither, kissing him. (I wonder what they did with it…)

Lois serves Sonny a pasta dish, and says, just for you, old friend. Although she’s got to tell him something. That kitchen in there needs work. He says, oh really? and she says, he should be happy he has a friend who tells him the truth. He asks if he told her how happy he is she’s back, and she says she’s happy to be back. They eat, and now I want pasta.

Cody says, Dante has been a good friend to him, and Sam, in the short time he’s known her, has proven she’s someone he can count on. So he’d offer them his help even if they hadn’t just put themselves on the line to help take down Dr. Montague. But they did, so as a friend, he’s doubly motivated to help them. Sasha says she feels the same way as Cody. They saved her sanity. They saved her life. Sam says she’s just glad that whole nightmare is over. Dante says, time for a fresh start, and Sam raises her beer mug. She asks if they’re doing this, and they agree, clinking glasses.

Blaze says, this contract seems pretty straightforward. She’s about to sign, when Brook says, hang on. They need a witness. She asks Kristina to join them for a second and tells her that they need a witness to Blaze signing this contract. Kristina says, happy to help, and Blaze signs. Kristina signs, and Brook says, that’s it; they’re official. Blaze thanks Kristina for being her witness, and Kristina says, anytime. She goes back to work, and Brook says, congratulations, client. Blaze says, thank you, manager, and they shake hands. Kristina tells them, wait. It’s time to celebrate. She brings over two bottles of beer, and says, here’s to making beautiful music. Brook and Blaze clink bottles.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy says, Lucy wanted to see her, and Lucy says she did. Okay, Tracy wins. Sasha will continue to be the Face of Deception, and there will absolutely be no contract for Blaze. Tracy says she knows. They decided this days ago. Lucy says, but Tracy should know, that’s the last decision she gets to make for Deception. Her dream, her vision, and it’s her company. She leaves, and Tracy says, that she owns 51% of.

Martin tells Laura that he has to admit when Cyrus had that coronary, he worried. Isn’t that somethin’? No matter how angry he gets at their brother or how little he trusts him, he couldn’t help but care. She asks if he believes Cyrus’s religious conversion is genuine, but he says he’s not sure. She knows better than anybody how suspicious he was when all that started. Now he’s not certain after seeing him in that hospital bed. He nearly died; that changes a person. She says, one of the arguments for his release was that he’s an old man in poor health, and therefore couldn’t hurt anyone. Does that sound like Cyrus to him? He says, no. It sounds like he’s playing possum. She says, that’s kind of what she thought too. His heart attack might have brought him closer to God, but it definitely bought him his freedom. It kind of makes her think their brother is just as shrewd as he ever was.

Ava says she asked Austin a question. Did he know Nikolas was alive or not? He says he had no idea. None. He thought she’d go to prison for murdering Nikolas. That’s why he did everything Mason asked him to do. He had no idea Nikolas was alive. And Mason is a liar who lies all the time. He lies to everyone about everything. She has to believe him. She says, does he know what really scares her? She really wants to believe him.

Finn watches Elizabeth sleeping in his arms. He shuts off the light, and kisses her forehead.

Tomorrow, Charlotte asks if Valentin doesn’t trust her; Anna says, it’s exactly what she needs; Josslyn asks Adam to come to Kelly’s with her; and Cyrus takes Trina hostage – again. I think that’s possibly going to turn out to be a dream because I doubt he’s that stupid.

Below Deck Mediterranean

The captain sees the lack of communication between Lara and Max, In her interview, she says, there’s a language barrier, but she thinks it’s how Max uses the radio. He needs to slow down, and Luka needs to figure it out. He’s never been a bosun, and managing personalities is the hard part. Anchor is home, and Tumi tells Jack, happy birthday. In his interview, Jack says his birthdays are always on a yacht, and Tumi reminds him that he’s doing pizza with the kids today. In Luka’s interview, he says, Sandy is a great teacher. He’s learning new skills, and they’re feeding his adrenaline addiction. His mom ripped around on a sports bike when she was pregnant with him. Her craving was petrol, and he thinks that’s where it came from. Lara tells Kyle about Max wanting to know how much experience she had, and they both speak in Afrikaans. In her interview, she says she likes cursing in Afrikaans. It makes her feel better. She lets out a string of curses, and I laugh because the bleep is so long. In Kyle’s interview, he says he and Natalya are like brother and sister. They tease each other, but she has a constant I-can-do-better-than-you attitude, and it’s annoying. She talks and he hears absolutely nothing. Luka explains to Max how to use the radio, and in his interview, Luka says, Lara doesn’t have calm and patience. In Lara’s interview, she says, her mom told her, since she was born she’d get blackout angry. She’s been alone with her mom since the age of two, and her mom grifted to keep them alive. It taught her not to be lazy and work toward what she wants. She never wants to be in that situation again. Luka flirts with Natalya, who would be fun if she wasn’t an a-hole. Her boyfriend AJ texts that he’s going to Thailand with some friends, and in Natalya’s interview, she says, last night, he had five girls over and she wonders what he’s doing over there. Lara tells Haleigh that she hates when guys get all macho, and Haleigh says she has a list of things she hates. She’s scared of anteaters; they look prehistoric. And why don’t pockets in women’s garments make sense? Personally, I think there aren’t enough pockets in women’s garments, and there should be a law about that. Anchor is dropped in Cinque Terre, and the kids make pizza with Jack. In Jack’s interview, he says, besides being a chef, he was also an English teacher. The kids were three, and he was basically a babysitter, so that’s the approach he’s taking. Natalya helps with the pizza, and it reminds me of my first job, short order cook in an Italian restaurant. I used to literally dream about making pizzas. Kyle tells Tumi that she’s lucky she doesn’t room with Natalya; Natalya can talk. We see a clip of her going on and on, and Kyle telling her to go to sleep. In Tumi’s interview, she says, if Kyle is talking sh*t about Natalya, that means he’s talking sh*t about her. She doesn’t know what’s going on, but it’s not genuine. Toppings are put on the pizza, and it goes in the oven. The kids dump flour on Haleigh’s head, but she takes it in stride because, tip. Lara gives Max instructions about a cable and starts to get frustrated since he listens to nothing. In Max’s interview, he says, it doesn’t matter what Lara’s title is. He feels like she doesn’t respect him and he doesn’t care.

In his interview, Max says he feels that Lara needs to be exercised [sic], and a producer corrects him, since what he means is, she needs an exorcist. Natalya complains, and in her interview, she says, she gets triggered by laziness. In childhood, her house was immaculate. Her mom was in charge of the inside and her dad was in charge of the outside. It was like a yacht with an interior and exterior crew. That’s why she’s like this. The pizza is served, and Natalya reminds everyone that tomorrow is the last day of charter, and the guests want them dressed as pirates all day. Jack has made an Italian lunch, and in his interview, he says, he’s good at cooking Italian food and loves to eat it. Lunch is served and it’s total… food porn! Luka radios Max, and in his interview, Luka says, it’s like having a toddler. He has to explain everything, and when Max isn’t happy, he throws a tantrum. He tells Max to help Haleigh, and the guests say the lunch is amazing and delicious. In Tumi’s interview, she says she loves chaos. If it gets still, she destabilizes. She needs to go, go, go or not go at all. If you’re still in your pajamas at 10 am, the day’s ruined. Tumi calls Natalya to the crew mess and tells her that she’s going on a hiking excursion with the guests. In her interview, Natalya says, she doesn’t like hiking; it’s a living hell. Who likes walking up a cliff? No one. Well, probably hikers do. Luka tells Haleigh that she’s going as well, and they leave in the tender. Max has wandered off his post, and Lara tells him to never leave the stern alone. She puts him on a break, probably just to get him away from her. She tells Luka that Max is now an irritation, and in Luka’s interview, he says, one things he’s noticed about Max is, he doesn’t like being told off. He calls Max to meet him on the bow. On shore, the guests climb up to an observation deck, where there’s a statue of St. Francis and a dog. In Natalya’s interview, she says, maybe if she prays to him, he and his dog will help her figure out what’s happening with her love life. It’s an amazing view, and when they guests are finished sightseeing, Natalya calls for the tender. Tumi tells Luka that Natalya is ready, and Jack makes lunch. On a side note, I heard cheffy has now been included in the dictionary. Ugh. It sounds so silly, and since when are pet names in the dictionary? As they pull up to the boat, primary Roy says, all that walking worked up an appetite. Tumi meets them with drinks, non-alcoholic for the kids, and he says, this is the greatest vacation ever. In her interview, Natalya says, everything feels like it’s last minute, and her relationship is affecting her work life. It’s causing anxiety, and she vents loud. Her truce with Tumi is a small step she’s taking toward no violence.

Captain Sandy calls Luka and Lara to the bridge and tells Lara that she’s going to be driving when they haul anchor. In the captain’s interview, she says, Lara works really hard, and she cares. She wants Lara to see how good communication is when she’s at the bow maneuvering. Max and Luka haul anchor, and Captain Sandy instructs Lara on steering. In Lara’s interview, she says, it’s her dream job to be captain and this is giving her the shivers. In her interview, she says, when she was young, she had a vision of herself as a captain with a little monkey on her shoulder, like Captain Hook. She thanks the captain and says she’ll never forget this. The captain tells her to make a turn, then go back to center. Lara follows instructions, and the captain says, excellent work. Lara says she’s a bit stressed, and in Captain Sandy’s interview, she says, Lara is like a little Sandy back in the day. She thinks Lara would make a good captain. Everyone gets ready for dinner, and AJ texts Natalya to call him before she goes out tomorrow. Food porn Dinner is served, and Roy says, eating while moving is like music. I don’t get what that, since it seems like it might be more annoying than musical. In Lara’s interview, she says, it’s like a light switch went off. Max is completely in outer space. Natalya mumbles, and in Kyle’s interview, he says he feels she’s being stable since the reset, but she’s not past regression. She’s always convinced something is wrong when no one else sees anything. The drama girl. Anchor is dropped, and Lara says, what a good day. She’s taking that in since it’s rare. Roy and his family play Yahtzee, and Natalya makes up clues for the treasure hunt. In Tumi’s interview, she says, they’ll most likely never be best friends. Unfortunately, she saw the demon first. We flash back to that, and Tumi says, goddammit. The best guests in the world go to bed, and in Luka’s interview, he wonders what Natalya wants. Is it on or off? She’s his type, but trying is getting harder. Who is he to Natalya? A side piece?

Final day of charter; Pirates of the Mediterranean. In Lara’s interview, she says, hop on the fun train; they’re having fun today. Natalya goes over the treasure hunt with the interior, and everyone dresses up. Luka tells Lara, Natalya is shy about her boyfriend, and Lara says she thought they were in an open relationship. Jessika calls Captain Sandy and says she’s much better. The captain says, they’ll see her on the dock in Genoa. Breakfast is served; otherwise known as… food porn! Tumi tells Natalya to start getting ready for the treasure hunt, and in Natalya’s interview, she says, she used to be a nanny to three boys. She’s got the pirate party down pat. Captain Sandy gathers the guests and says she needs help finding the lost treasure. She gives them the first clue; near the piano, they’ll see a cannonball clue near a key. They go to the piano, and find the next clue; outside the doors, there’s a cannonball game. They need to score 3 for the next clue. After they play the game, the next clue says to have a pirate fight with Captain Sharkbites. Max plays the captain, and the kids duel with him. Obviously, he lets them win, and the next clue is, find the cook with a hook for the final clue. Jack gives them the last one; find the pirate flag and secure the bag. They find a bag with a bunch of fake jewels and treasure in it. Guest Asa tells Captain Sandy that it was so fun, and in Tumi’s interview, she says, that’s why she wanted Natalya to do it. She knew Natalya would enjoy it and it’s up her ally. Plus, she doesn’t have to since she couldn’t care less. Natalya put so much love into it and Tumi is proud of her. Natalya says, it lifted her spirits. Anchor is home, and in Luka’s interview, he says, Max is more productive when he’s encouraged. He’s finally learning how Max works instead of getting frustrated. Roy asks if tiny guest Beau is thankful for their good time on the boat, and they get ready to dock. It’s a seriously tight squeeze, and in his interview, Luka says, the gap looks smaller than the boat. He doesn’t know how Captain Sandy trusts him to bring this thing in.

As they dock, guest Ehren says, this is intense, and guest Erika says, Captain Sandy is amazing. Ehren says, look how f***ing tight they are, and the lines are thrown. The captain says, good job everyone, and Max says he’s not doing any push-ups today. It’s time for goodbyes, and Roy says, they’re so lucky. Asa says, it’s the best vacation ever. The treasure hunt warmed her heart. Roy says, they know they’re safe in the captain’s hands and always have a good time. He gives her the tip envelope, and they leave. In Luka’s interview, he says, the game’s been going on too long. Hopefully tonight.

At the tip meeting, Captain Sandy says, they were amazing. They were down a person, but she never had concern. She asks them to give Natalya a hand for the treasure hunt, and one for Luka who stepped into the bosun position like he’d been there. And one more hand for Lara becoming lead deckhand. She’s doing an awesome job. She sees what needs to be done and does it. They’re an awesome team. The tip is $28K or $2300 each, and she says, it speaks volumes. She tells them that Jessika is coming back, so they’ll have their support back. They all clink glasses of champagne, and whatever for the captain. In Jessika’s interview, she says she’s 99.9% better. Put me in, coach; I’m ready. They crew goes out, and in the taxi, there’s a lot of random sex talk, and Lara says, this is the most sexual group ever. They go to a bar and do shots. Jack flirts with a girl there, and in his interview, he says, there’s no one on the boat for him. In Natalya’s interview, she says, when she and Luka touch, she feels like a sex addict. Jessika feels left out, and Max and Kyle smoke from a hookah. Everyone dances, and Jack kisses the girl he’s flirting with, calling her the lady in red. I just keep thinking, aren’t they going to eat something? Natalya calls AJ, and she says, she doesn’t know what position she’s in with him… Of course she becomes close with the people she works and lives with… She wouldn’t do that. She wouldn’t lie. Luka and Kyle discuss Natalya’s relationship, and Natalya tells AJ that she has to deal with him while she’s stuck on the boat. How does he think she feels when she asks if he’s been with anyone? In her interview, she says, if he told her to come home, she would.

In Tumi’s interview, she says, there’s sexual tension between Luka and Natalya. She thinks Natalya doesn’t know what she wants. Just do it already. Natalya says, it’s the strangest situation in her life, and Lara asks why she doesn’t want to do it with Luka. Natalya sits on Luka’s lap and asks if they should go to the jacuzzi. In Luka’s interview, he says, the chase goes on, and they head back to the boat. In the taxi, Luka says, AJ can do what he wants, but Natalya can’t, and Haleigh tells them, kiss now and stop being stupid. In Natalya’s interview, she says, it’s so good, but so bad. When they get back, Max does push-ups on railing. Natalya calls Luka into the bathroom, and we hear kissing sounds. Kyle knocks on the door and says, he’s going to… the thing. I don’t even think he knows what he means, since they’re all so drunk. I just think, drunk on a boat where you sleep in a bunk? No, just no. Luka gets in Natalya’s bunk with her, and she says she knows it’s difficult. He kisses her, and honestly, I don’t think I kiss that loud. Why is it always so loud and smacky sounding? Do they amplify the volume? In the bunk below, Kyle says, sweet dreams, angels. As they’re kissing, AJ calls, and Luka says, go for it. It’s going to be funny. Answer it. Kyle says, don’t, and Natalya says she’s confused. Luka says, get in line, and Natalya says, it’s not going be good.

Next time, Captain Sandy says the next charter is all young girls and maintain as much as they’re temped; Natalya talks to AJ; Kyle argues with Jessika and says she’s not on the team; and Captain Sandy breaks her wrist.

February 2, 2022 – Tracy Is Accused Of Counterfeiting the Ice Princess, Cabo Is a Sweat Lodge & Janet’s Rhythm

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Ned says, the Ice Princess? and Tracy says, it was genuine the last time she looked. Michael asks, when was that? but she doesn’t know. Luke always took care of that. Ned says, how comforting, and she says, all she knows is, she did not try to pass off a fake diamond. Laura tells Tracy that the warrant for her arrest is valid. She’s so sorry, but there’s nothing she can do. Ned says he’s calling a lawyer, and Tracy says, hold on. She looks at head official guy and says, I know you.

Austin tells Maxie that he knows how he feels. Does she want to tell him what the kiss meant to her? She says, it meant a lot actually. Proof that her connection with him is real; that her heart is ready to be happy. He’s important to her. He says, she’s important to him, and she says, so she’s happy she kissed him, but it can’t happen again.

Alexis gets up, and asks if Willow is in trouble, but Harmony says, no. She didn’t mean to alarm Alexis. Alexis says, good, and sits back down. She just had a very good heart-to-heart with Kristina, and she thinks Kristina is on board with them being friends. What’s wrong? Harmony says, Alexis may not want to be her friend after she hears this.

Trina walks into the gallery, and Ava asks what she’s doing here. Isn’t she supposed to be away? Trina says, their trip got cut short, and Ava asks if Trina and her friends weren’t having any fun. Trina says she’s not sure it could have gone any worse.

Spencer joins Doc and Esme at the counter in Kelly’s, and says, his final check before he goes to the big house. Should he put it in his account for ramen and postage stamps? Doc says he thinks Spencer has seen too many prison movies (or thinks he’s going to college), but Spencer says he’s about to experience the real thing. Doc says, one step at a time, okay? His grandmother’s on the way, and Doc is sure some of Spencer’s friends will be stopping by to wish him well, but Spencer says he’s not holding his breath.

Outside Kelly’s, Anna leaves another voicemail for Valentin. She asks if he can call her back. She wants to know what it is he’s discovered about Louise. And she wants an update on him, if he’s all right. Victor comes by, and says, Anna, a pleasure. She tells him, speak for himself.

Sonny doesn’t understand why Carly is so worked up, and she says, it’s the not understanding part that’s the problem. She’s asked him for time and space, and instead, he cooks up some over-the-top display of love. He says, that’s a bad thing? and she says, no, it’s not the right thing. And after all these years, he should know her better than that. He says he knows her better than anyone.

Tracy says, it all makes sense now, and Ned asks, what makes sense? She asks if official guy followed her all the way from the Netherlands, Dean… Dan… He says, Dave. Tracy says, Dave the Dumpster Diver. That’s what Luke used to call him when he was sniffing around them in Amsterdam. He was obsessed with nailing Luke on some trumped-up charge. He found a new angle. Ned asks if Dave has been hounding his mother, but Dave says he’s just doing his job. Tracy says, like he was just doing his job holding her and Luke at the Belgian border for twelve hours without cause. Laura says, that sounds a little above and beyond the call of duty, and Tracy says, above and beyond the law. Dave says, here’s the deal. He doesn’t answer to any of them, and Tracy is in their custody now. Drew says he doesn’t think so. They’re not taking his aunt anywhere.

Austin says he is kind of a bonehead about a lot of things, but can Maxie explain something to him? If them kissing makes her happy, why doesn’t she want to do it again? She says, she likes him… a lot, but until she has her daughter back, she can’t give them the focus they deserve. He says he understands, and she says, does he? He says, no, and she says, those aren’t just words. She really does care about him, but she just can’t give in to her feelings. She’s sorry. He says, not ever? and she says, not yet.

Victor says he understands Peter was being transferred today. He supposes Anna is on her way to the hospital to supervise. She says, no, it’s being handled, and he says, may his trial be swift, and his incarceration infinite. She says, on that, they agree, and he says, and coffee. Can they at least agree on that as well? She asks, as in, does she like it? but he says, as in, can he buy her a cup? It will give them a chance to get better acquainted. She thanks him, but says, she thinks she knows all she needs to know, and he asks why she despises him, particularly since Valentin means so much to them both. She asks if he’s heard from Valentin, but he says, not since yesterday. She says she hasn’t been able to reach him, and Victor says, he did seem a little distracted last night. She’s worried about his son. She tells him that she didn’t say that, and he says, she didn’t have to.

Doc asks if Spencer is having problems with his friends, and Esme tells Spencer not to worry. No matter who shows up, she’ll be at Spring Ridge every week to visit him. She’ll do whatever he needs to help him through.

Trina tells Ava, then apparently, Spencer and Esme left. Ava says, apparently? and Trina says she was passed out. Ava asks how much she had to drink, and Trina says, just one, she promises. She never had hot toddies before. Ava says, at Trina’s age, drinking is just ill-advised, and Trina says, lesson learned. Apparently, whiskey is not her friend. Ava says, neither is Esme. From the sound of it, she had quite a hand in the night taking a turn. Trina says, did she ever, and Ava wonders, why is that girl always nearby when there’s trouble?

Sonny says, Carly used to appreciate it when he thought outside the box. She knows him better than anybody. She says, maybe they don’t know each other anymore, but he says, that’s not true, and when she sees what he’s got planned, he’s going to prove that to her. She says she appreciates him trying; the flowers, the meals, now this big surprise. He says, but? and she says, it’s not what she needs. He says, tell him what she needs, and she says she has, over and over again. He says, give him something concrete that’s going to save their marriage; something that’s going to get her to come home.

Alexis hands Harmony a cup, and says, compliments of Corinthos Coffee as a welcome back gift. Harmony says she’s happy things are going so well for Alexis post-release, and Alexis says, everyone has been very kind. Okay, so why doesn’t she want to be friends with Harmony? Harmony says, because she failed her daughter again, and Alexis asks, how? Harmony says, because Willow wants something from her that she can’t give her. Alexis tells her, says every mother from the beginning of time. They sit, and Harmony says, Willow has been more forgiving and accepting than she deserves, especially when it comes to Wiley. Alexis says, good. It sounds like they’re on the path to rebuilding their relationship. Harmony says she wants the best for Willow, and just wants to be a mother to her, and Alexis says, Harmony is her mother. Harmony says, she’s a liability.

Drew says, Tracy isn’t going anywhere with Dave until they speak to his superiors. Dave says, and he is? and Drew says, Drew Cain. Dave looks at the other official guy, and Drew says, they’re familiar with his name He was debriefed by Dave’s boss at the WSB, but new memories have surfaced; memories he believes would be of use to the agency. Michael says, maybe Drew would rather share his experiences with their online readership. He introduces himself, and says, he’s CEO of Aurora’s visual division. He’d love to get the scoop. Drew says, so Michael is suggesting he go public, instead of cooperating further with the WSB? He asks what Dave thinks. Is he willing to grant Drew’s small request, or explain to his higher ups why Drew’s not willing to play ball anymore? Dave asks what it is Drew wants, and Drew says he wants Dave to call Anna Devane.

Anna tells Victor, if he sees or hears from Valentin, please ask him to call her. He says he will, and her phone rings. She sees it’s the WSB, and answers. She asks, what’s the problem?… She’s on her way. Victor says, WSB business? and she says she’s got to see a man about a dog. She leaves, and he goes into Kelly’s.

Spencer thanks Victor for coming, and hugs him. Victor says, it’s a pleasure, and thanks Spencer for including him. Victor asks how he’s doing on this not-so celebratory occasion, and Spencer says, he’s hanging in there. Victor says, he’ll continue to do so; day by day, hour by hour. Esme says, minute by minute if he has to, and Victor says, if at any time Spencer feels adrift, reach out to a guy by the name of Samuel. He’s arranged for him to look out for Spencer. Spencer says, for real? That’s amazing. He doesn’t know how to thank Victor. Victor says, his pleasure, and Doc asks if he and Victor can have a word, and they go outside. Esme says, that should make Spencer feel a little better, and he says he’s so grateful for his uncle, and her for trying to make things easier. She says she wishes he could add his friends to that list.

Trina says, Ava isn’t the only one who thinks Esme’s trouble. Cam and Joss told Spencer that night. Ava asks if Trina thinks they got through to him, but Trina says she doesn’t know. She still can’t believe he’s into that girl. Ava says, he’s young; he’ll learn. Trina says, when? and Ava says, someday. Often it takes the right person to come along before someone realizes they should have someone better. So how did Trina leave things with Cam and Josslyn? Trina says she thinks they’re good. She told them there were no bad feelings about them being together, even though it was awkward with a capital A. Ava says she remembers how Trina used to feel about Cam, and Trina says she’s sorry Ava had to hear all that. Ava says she’s honored Trina shared that with her. She just hopes her advice helped. Trina says, Ava told her to be honest about her feelings, while also prioritizing her friendship with Joss. Ava says, and has Trina been completely honest with them?

Sonny asks Carly to tell him how to make this right, and she says she would if she thought he’d listen. He says, forget the time nonsense, and she says, it’s not nonsense. He says he can’t give her that, and she says, that’s awesome, and starts to leave. He says, time away from him and time away from their daughters, their life together, is that what she wants? She says, she doesn’t want any of it. She hates being away from the girls, and every morning when she opens her eyes and he’s not there in bed with her. He broke her heart. Not to mention the humiliation factor. He asks, who’s humiliated? and she says she is. He says, by what? and she says, the multiple people who knew about him and Nina before she did. Finding out in the hearing room in front of everybody. She felt so stupid. He says he didn’t want her to find out about it that way; he wanted it to come from him. She says, but it didn’t. Not one word. He says he planned to. He told her that how many times? Then Jason died and… He doesn’t want to make it an excuse. She says she knows it’s not an excuse. Jason died, and everything else faded into the background. She gets that. He says, so she understands? and she says, that part, yes. He asks if she forgives him.

Trina tells Ava, she was honest with Joss and Cam, or at least as honest as she could have been without hurting anyone’s feelings. She liked Cam back in the day, but they realized it just wasn’t right. It’s no one’s fault; it just is. Ava asks how she feels about that, and Trina says, lousy. Ava asks if she told her friends that, and Trina asks if Ava heard the part about not wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings. Ava says she should never have to suck it up, and Trina says she thinks she’d be open to that now. She’s learned that shoving it down doesn’t help. Ava says, Trina is her priority in this scenario, and Trina thanks her for listening. Ava says, always, and Trina says, so that’s it. She told Cam and Joss that she was over it, and they could all move on. Ava says, over it or over Cam? and Trina says, both. Ava asks if she thinks it has anything to do with Spencer.

Spencer tells Esme, his friends have every reason to be angry; their weekend away was a disaster. He hopes Trina is okay. Esme says, she’ll be fine, but by all means worry more about Trina than the girlfriend he’s leaving behind.

Doc tells Victor, all of them who care about Spencer want him to be safe while he’s inside Spring Ridge. However, he doesn’t think it serves Spencer’s interest to rely on whatever guard Victor is in league with. Victor says, can he help it if he has friends Spencer can avail himself of? Just like the mayor has friends, or Doc has friends. His friends are just more useful to Spencer right now. Perhaps instead of scolding him, Doc should be thanking him.

Anna comes in, and Tracy says, finally. Is she aware her friends are harassing a grieving widow? Drew tells her, what his aunt means to say is, thanks for getting here so quickly, and Anna says, of course (🍷). What’s going on? Drew says, they need some clarity on grounds for arrest, and Anna says, the arrest being…? Tracy says, her. She’s under arrest for something she did not do. Michael says they think one of the agents has an agenda, and Anna says she’ll ask some questions. Tracy asks her if Anna can be quick; she has a plane to catch. Luke left some loose ends she needs to tie up. God knows what he was into before he died. Anna says she’ll be right back, and Ned thanks Drew for sticking his neck out on Tracy’s behalf. He didn’t have to. Drew says, they’re family, and Ned says, that, we are.

Austin says, one thing he knows for sure, he has terrible timing, but Maxie asks how he can say that. She kissed him. If timing is the issue, it’s hers. He asks if there’s a second issue, and she says, her, the woods, a baby popping out. Does any of it ring a bell? He says, it rings some vague bells, and she says she doesn’t want to think what would have happened if he wasn’t there. He says he’s glad he was, and she says, her too. He says, honest follow-up question. If they hadn’t met in the woods; if they’d met in a café or library… She says, what? and he says, a box store. If they’d met in a box store, would she be friendzoning him? She says, he’s not friendzoned… Okay, he is, but only until things get settled. He says he totally gets it, and she thanks him. She says, just so they’re clear, she’s not expecting him to wait for her. He’s well within his rights to move on. He asks if that’s what she wants, and she says she wants him to be happy. He says, having this moment with her right now makes him totally happy. He has no plans to go anywhere or do anything. Unless she has a problem with that. She says, not the tiniest bit.

Carly says she gets why Jason dying made it difficult to tell her about Nina, and he says, then why the distance between them? He’s not going to be with Nina. They still love each other, right? She says, of course (🍷), and he asks, then what’s the problem? She says she just wants for this never to have happened, and he says, one thing he can’t do is turn back time. If he could, he would. If he could erase what happened in Nixon Falls, being Mike and everything, he would. She says, would he? if given the chance, would he choose to forget everything that happened in Nixon Falls, everything with Nina? He says, if it meant they could be together and happy, yeah, he would. She says, he was almost convincing, and he tells her, anything he says isn’t good enough. He’s got props being delivered. She asks what he’s talking about, and he says he’s recreating their wedding in Martinique. She says, that’s the surprise? and he says, he thought she knew the plan. She says she knew he had something planned, but didn’t know what it was, and he says, that’s what it was. They don’t have to. He can do anything she wants. She asks, what’s better then Martinique? and he says, not much. She says, as far as grand gestures go, it’s pretty perfect.

Esme says, the entire town hates her, but Spencer asks if she doesn’t think she’s overreacting a little. Victor walks in, and she says, who does she have besides him? He says, Doc and his grandmother for starters, and she says, they tolerate her at best because of him. Victor approaches, and says he’s sorry for eavesdropping, but if there’s anything Esme needs while his nephew is away,  he’s always available. Spencer says, see? and asks them to excuse him a moment. He goes outside, and Esme thanks Victor, saying, that’s very sweet. He says, and earnest. He knows something about feeling unwelcome. As a matter-of-fact, he just got an earful from the good doctor Collins.

Spencer asks what Doc is still doing out here; it’s freezing. Doc says he’s waiting for Laura. She should be here any minute. Spencer says he’s sorry, and Doc says, for what? Spencer says he should have told Doc that he was inviting his great uncle, but Doc says he’s allowed to invite whoever he likes. Spencer says, grandmother has made it painfully clear she doesn’t trust Victor, and Doc says, Laura is concerned, but if Victor is important to Spencer, he should be there. The last thing Spencer wants to start this next chapter is regrets.

Trina tells Ava, Spencer’s her friend. Sure, he makes idiotic choices, and his girlfriend’s a nightmare, but he’s basically a good guy. Not that she supports what he did to Ava. Ava says, Trina doesn’t have to justify anything to her. She knows Spencer is a complicated young man. She may not be able to trust him, but she thinks he benefits from having Trina in his life. She just wants the friendship to be reciprocal; she wants Trina to benefit as well, not just be a target for Esme’s jealousy. Trina says, Esme has nothing to be jealous about, and Ava says, if it makes Trina uncomfortable supervising Spencer when he starts working there, she’ll be happy to keep the two of them apart.

Anna comes back, and tells Tracy, apparently the buyer she sold a piece of the Ice Princess to, had it appraised, and the fragment is close to worthless. Tracy says, if that’s true, it’s news to her, and Anna says, the WSB has doubts about that. Laura asks why the WSB is involved, and not Interpol, and Anna says, jockeying for jurisdiction is her guess. The Ice Princess is of enormous interest, as she knows. Laura says, all too well. It put a shadow over their lives for decades; everyone wanted a piece of it. Anna says, it’s history alone is every man’s desire, not to mention it’s monetary worth. She tells Dave, which is to say, there will be no shortage of scrutiny as to how this case is handled. She asks how Tracy found a buyer, and Tracy says, she used an intermediary, someone who did deals for her and Luke in the past. Anna says, she’ll need a name. She’ll also need Tracy to walk her through where she stored the diamond, and how often she had it appraised, and the contact information of the previous buyer. Ned asks if this means his mother isn’t under arrest, and Anna says she thinks arrest is a little aggressive, especially since Tracy is so willing to cooperate. She’ll make a call, and have them void the warrant. Dave says, they were given the green light, but Anna says, they’ll discuss his conduct later, and tells them to wait outside. They leave, and she tells Tracy that she’ll need every detail as to where the diamond was, and how it passed from Luke to Tracy. Every detail. Go.

Harmony tells Alexis, Michael surprised Willow with an upcoming trip to Paris, and to get a passport, she needs a birth certificate. Alexis says, so she doesn’t have it, she lost it, she can get another one; it’s easy. Harmony says, it’s not easy. Willow doesn’t have a birth certificate, and it’s her fault. Alexis doesn’t get it. Willow got married, she was in school, she got a driver’s license. You can’t have all those things and not have a birth certificate. Harmony says, the one she had wasn’t official. Harmony was living in a commune when she gave birth to Willow, and the community didn’t adhere to societal norms. Alexis asks what she means, and she says she forged Willow’s birth certificate.

Ned walks Laura to the door, and says he appreciates her trying to help out with those agents. She says, that diamond has always brought bad luck. He says, he would never tell his mother this – she says, then she won’t either – but part of him is relieved that someone took it off her. Laura doesn’t blame him. Has his mother ever mentioned someone threatening Luke over the Ice Princess? He says, not that he recalls; why? She says she was just wondering. She’s sorry his vow ceremony was overshadowed by this nonsense. It really was a lovely ceremony. He says, with a lovely officiant. Nothing could ruin today. He was, and still is, the happiest man on earth. She tells him, keep it that way, and he says, that’s the plan, and she leaves.

Anna says, it’s a good start. When Tracy gets home, she’ll have an agent reach out with further questions. Tracy asks her to get a competent one please, and Anna says she’ll do her best. She steps into the foyer, and calls Maxie. She asks if Maxie is free right now to meet… Good. Where is she?… You’re kidding.

Alexis says, Harmony forged her daughter’s birth certificate? and Harmony says, not her personally. Alexis says, oh, in that case… and Harmony says, there was a guy at the commune who could recreate official looking documents. Alexis asks, what was wrong with the actual document? and Harmony says, the people at the commune were worried if they filed with the state, it would be used for scrutiny, or to track them. Alexis says, so that’s it; Harmony isn’t leaving anything out. Harmony says, yes. Sadly it’s just typical group-think paranoia. Alexis says, it must have been some forger if no one questioned the certificate, and Harmony says, she was worried this day would come. That her stupid decision to live off the grid would impact Willow in some way, and now here they are. Alexis should have seen how excited Willow was at the prospect of traveling abroad. She can’t be the reason it doesn’t happen. She’s caused Willow too much pain and unhappiness as it is. Alexis says, Harmony does realize she’s not a lawyer anymore, and Harmony says, she used to be, and she’s smart. And most important, Harmony trusts her. She can’t lose her daughter over this.

Willow tells Michael that she’s going to check on Wiley, and goes upstairs. Drew says, it’s been an eventful day, and Michael says, it usually is around here. He tells Drew, it was a useful threat in the moment, but if he ever wants to go public about what Victor did to him, he’ll be happy to help. Drew says, thanks, but one way or another, Victor is going to get what’s coming to him.

Victor sits down, and says, when you’re young, time seems infinite, but he can assure Esme, the time Spencer’s away will just fly by. She says she hopes so, and he says, she knows the old saying, absence makes the heart grow fonder. She says, Sextus Propertius, and he says he’s impressed. She says, Spence audited a Roman Civ class. He got really into ancient poets and philosophers. Anyway, when Sextus wrote that, she’s sure he had friends to distract him. He tells her, a wise man once said, if everyone likes you, you’re probably not being true to yourself. She asks, who’s the author? and he says, me.

Trina tells Ava that she doesn’t think supervising Spencer will be a problem. She’s gotten a million texts and voicemails from him that he’s sorry about what went down at the cabin. Ava says, a million, huh? and Trina’s phone rings. She says, there he is again. She just doesn’t know what to say to him. She was a mess that night, and the worst part is, she doesn’t know how messy. Ava says, Spencer might be trying to touch base with her today because has to report to prison, and Trina says, she totally forgot; he must be freaking out. Ava says, he probably is, but he has his grandmother and his girlfriend; any number of people to lean on really, and yet he keeps calling Trina.

Anna goes to where Maxie and Austin are, and says she’s surprised they didn’t hear all the excitement. He says, they were kind of busy, and Maxie asks, what happened? Anna says, nothing for her to concern herself with, and Maxie says, good. She’s concerned enough already. Anna asks if she’s spoken with Valentin, and Maxie says, no; why?  Anna says she got a voicemail from him that sounded urgent. Now she can’t get ahold of him. Maxie asks what that has to do with her. What did his voicemail say? Anna tells her, he said he had a lead on Louise.

Sonny tells Carly, there were so many memories to choose from; a lifetime’s worth. She says she remembers he was so determined not to marry her; he fought her at every turn. He says he thought he was protecting her. He wishes he could say it was the last time he did the wrong thing for the right reason. She says, he finally gave in, despite his fears, and he says, because he trusted her. He wants her to trust him, and she says she wants to. He says, they can take it slow, and tonight could be like the first time. She says she knows tonight would be beautiful. It would be filled with romance and nostalgia, but what about tomorrow? Or next week or the week after that? Reliving Martinique isn’t going to change what’s so clear. He says, what’s that? and she says, what they have between them right now isn’t working for him, and it’s definitely not working for her.

Alexis says, she’ll figure something out, and Harmony says, she was hoping Alexis would say that, but only if it’s no trouble. Alexis says she’ll call a lawyer colleague and see what can be done, but Harmony has to stop with the too much trouble thing. After all Harmony has done for her? Harmony says, Alexis doesn’t owe her, but Alexis says she’s not doing it out of obligation. She’s doing it because they’re friends, and that’s what friends do; they help each other out. Harmony hugs her, and says, thank you. Alexis has no idea how much she appreciates this.

Willow comes back, and says, Leo is showing Wiley how to build an aqueduct using cookie dough and milk. Drew says, maybe the boys will get into building, and Willow says, and not be in the family business? Michael wouldn’t stand for it. Michael says, Wiley can absolutely do what he wants, but for the record, ELQ would benefit from any business helm by those two. Drew asks if he isn’t forgetting about somebody. Scout is part of that generation too. Willow says, it’s going to be wild, isn’t it? Watching them grow up, seeing who they become, what they do, who they love. Drew says, parenthood, what ride, and Michael says, it’s scary and overwhelming at times, but… Drew says, it’s so worth it, and Willow takes Michael’s hand.

Tracy tells Ned, those agents are insisting on escorting her aboard her flight to Amsterdam. He says, it could be worse; they could be escorting her to prison. She says, one thing she learned on this trip; nothing and nobody can hold her back. He says, try not to test that theory please, and they hug. She says, he has his family back. Protect them. He says he will, and she says she meant what she said earlier. He says he loves her too, and opens the door for her. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like that escort thing.

Laura runs up to Doc, apologizing for being late, and he says, she just missed Spencer. She says, he’s gone? and he says, momentarily; he said he’d be right back. How was the vow renewal? She says, it was beautiful. Until the WSB showed up and tried to arrest Tracy for counterfeiting the Ice Princess. He says he can’t tell if she’s joking, and she says she’s not. He says, why would she do that? and Laura says, she didn’t, or so she says, but Laura believes her. First, Luke dies, then the diamond gets counterfeited, and Victor has resurfaced. That’s not a coincidence.

Victor looks at his watch, and Esme asks if he has someplace he needs to be. That’s the third time he’s checked his watch. He says, she doesn’t miss much, and she says she’s an observer of human behavior; that’s why she’s studying psychology. He says, his family will give her lots to analyze. Speaking of – he gets up and looks out – he doesn’t see his nephew outside anymore. Esme gets up and looks out the window, and says, he’s absolutely right.

Ava says Spencer seems desperate to reach Trina, but Trina says, he just feels bad that his girlfriend is legitimately the worst. Ava says, maybe, but either way, it’s a good thing Trina isn’t hung up on him. Spencer walks in to the gallery.

Sonny says, Carly is wrong. What they have does work. She proved it to him in Martinique. He pushed her away, but she knew better. She says, because she had faith, and he says, now he has the faith. He says she told him they were stronger then, but they’re strong now. At least do him a favor. Meet with him, and show him that she’s willing to try. She says, what if she’s not ready when he wants her to be? and he says, he’ll be waiting, but if she’s not ready now, maybe she never will be. He leaves, and I think, ooh, Carly’s earrings.

Austin says, Valentin is where Louise is? but Anna says, no. She has no reason to believe that. The message was light on detail. Maxie says she doesn’t understand. How could Valentin figure something out that Anna, her mom, and the police couldn’t? Anna says, good question. She imagines Valentin kept digging until he found something. Because ever since he was told Bailey wasn’t his child, he’s more determined than ever to reunite Maxie with her daughter. Austin flashes back to seeing Brook and Maxie with their heads together, Maxie saying she doesn’t even consider Brook a friend, and Brook saying that Maxie is the bravest person she knows.

Britt asks what Drew did to get on Sonny’s bad side: Austin says he remembers what happened in the woods; Laura says, Victor’s connections come at a heavy price; and Peter tells Dante, no one here will ever forget him.

The Real Housewives of Orange County

In Gina’s interview, she said she was definitely in mid-level management. She was trying to support Noella, but get her to respect Heather. Now she got why no one wanted to be in mid-level management. The guys were getting together for dinner, and Heather FaceTimed with Terry. In Jen’s interview, she said she hadn’t known the guys were going to dinner. She thought Ryne would love the guys. She scared him so much, it was just the women he shut up around. We saw some of the guys’ dinner, and no surprise, it looked like a lot more fun than the women’s dinner. Lots of laughing and joking, and no wine glass throwing or screaming. Emily asked Shannon, if she and John were going to have a threesome, who would she bring in? but Shannon said they’d never do it. In Shannon’s interview, she said she asked John if he’d ever had one, and he said, a third party damages a relationship. She told Emily that she didn’t discount people who do that, but she and John were at a level she never thought she’d be at with someone. They planned on getting a home together after the twins went to college. Noella thought Shannon’s kids were her soulmates, and Shannon said they were going to love Noella. In Gina’s interview, she said, Noella didn’t have to dominate every conversation. She wanted Noella to exist in the room without becoming the room. Gina and Emily started goofing around, talking about chakras and going, ohm, and Noella told them they were behaving like children. In Noella’s interview, she said she thought Emily and Gina’s IQ’s went down 10 points when they hung out together. In Emily’s interview, she said she was allowed to have fun with her best friend. Noella couldn’t even get on commercial flight, and is calling her a child? Gina and Emily left the table, Emily saying that Shannon and Noella were being offensive, and Gina saying, don’t call them children. Gina told Noella that she was reactionary in the moment, and we flashed back to Noella shouting that she’d eat potatoes when Emily said she wasn’t eating. In her interview, Gina said, Noella was like finding a puppy in the street. You felt sorry for it, but if it bit you, you would be like, f*** you, puppy. Figure it out for yourself.

During a video chat, Shannon told John that she was tired with all the running around, and he said he’d thought she was going to be taking it easy. In her interview, she said, with Heather, things were meticulously planned. It was great, but at the same time, she was exhausted. Emily, Gina, and Noella met to go to the sweat lodge, and Emily said she felt like Cabo was a sweat lodge. In Noella’s interview, she said, last night was a nightmare. She couldn’t sleep, and she was a ball of anxiety. James had said such hurtful things. Heather’s friend Tawnie met Heather, Jen and Shannon to go look at properties, and in Heather’s interview, she said Tawnie just happened to be staying there in the most fabulous hotel down the street. We saw a clip, and it was definitely fabulous. At the sweat lodge, the ceremony guide said she was going to clean their souls. In Emily’s interview, she said she’d studied abroad in the heart of Mexico, and loved the culture. It seemed like home. In Noella’s interview, she said, she hoped it provided a safe space to let the emotions out she’d been holding on to so tight. The guide burned sage or something, and told them that they’d be going into their mother’s womb, and to let go of everything they needed to. They’d find the answers to what they wanted in themselves. They started off at 97 degrees. I’d already be out the door.

Heather’s group went to meet Heather’s realtor, and in Heather’s interview, she said, when she and Terry talked budget and design, she wanted to find something that spoke to her, and Terry wanted something that spoke to his wallet. They looked at a 26,000 square foot, $13 million house with a wraparound pool, and in Shannon’s interview, she said she didn’t know if it was her age or what, but she didn’t want to walk four flights. It was an amazing place, and I don’t think I’ve seen a wraparound pool before, even on Million Dollar Listing. At the sweat lodge, the temperature was at 102, and Emily said she’d never felt such stifling heat. Gina said she was just trying to survive the moment. She’d thought they were going to a spa. In their respective interviews, Noella said she felt a wave of sadness coming out of her by force, and Emily said, tears and snot and saliva and sweat were pouring out. Noella ended up passing out and had to be carried to another area, where she lay in the fetal position, crying. She asked, what happened? and Gina told her that she passed out. Outside, Gina told Emily that she was happy, and wanted them to be happy. In Emily’s interview, she said she didn’t know what happened in the sweat lodge, but it was a surreal experience. She felt like every trauma and hurt had come out. Noella joined them, and Gina said she felt bad, but Noella said she didn’t want it to stick with Gina.

An hour later, Emily and Gina were napping, while Heather and company looked at a piece of land with a view of a lighthouse that was the oldest structure in Cabo. Jen told Heather that she’d been in pain all day. It was literally radiating up and down her leg, and she needed to go handle it. Heather found out the lot was $8 million, and in her interview, she said, she wanted her man to be happy, which is why he loved her and went along with her harebrained schemes. She got Terry on FaceTime, and showed him the property, along with views of the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean. She told him it was a little over an acre, and he did some fast figuring, coming to a $15.5 million total for building a house there.

Emily, Gina, and Noella went to the beach, and Emily let slip they’d flown in by private jet. Gina said she didn’t think Heather would leave Noella hanging, but in Noella’s interview, she said, Heather hadn’t spoken to her about flights – or anything. Emily said Heather hadn’t wanted Noella to come, and Gina talked her into it. In Emily’s interview, she said she felt it was important that Noella know that Gina had advocated for her, but in Gina’s interview, she said, what the f***ing f***? WTF??? We went back to Emily’s interview, and she said, I’m Emily Simpson, and I’m an a-hole. In Noella’s interview, she said she’d understood the invite as being an olive branch, and Heather’s way of saying they could be civil, decent, and respectable to each other. We flashed back to Heather saying, maybe she’s not the right friend for Noella, and Noella said, it was a pity invite, like in high school. Gina said she knew Noella was sad, but not everybody wanted details. Emily suggested pulling it back, and letting Heather get to know her; not over-the-top Noella. In her interview, Noella wondered why everyone was so terrified of Heather. Heather still bled, and was still a human being.

Jen worked out to manage her pain, and made the mistake of calling Ryne. She told him that the pain was debilitating and excruciating; she couldn’t function. The best he could come up with was that it would be better tomorrow. She said what she wanted now was to feel loved and protected, and know that how she felt was important. She felt alone. He couldn’t come up with even a smidgeon of empathy, and I wanted to kick his ass. No doubt she’d torn him away from a video game or something. You can talk on the phone and hold the chihuahua.

The women met at the bar, and a table was set up by the beach for dinner, complete with nearby piñata and sombreros for everyone. Bartender Alex hosted a tequila tasting first, and in Emily’s interview, she said, it gets to a point where fun Emily turns into destructive drunk Emily. With three or four shots, she was good, but after five or six she started stuff. We flashed back to her starting stuff. Shannon said she was going to wear her sombrero all night; she loved a theme. Emily said she loved the commitment. They talked about the sweat lodge, and in Jen’s interview, she said, it wasn’t shocking that Noella passed out. She’d been drinking the night before, and was in severe emotional distress. That wasn’t a good combination for a sweat lodge. Jen talked to Heather about her conversation with Ryne, and how she was bearing the burden of a long work day so the family could live well. Heather said, she and Terry had a come to Jesus conversation. They had to be in agreement of who was doing what. In her interview, Jen said, there was a simple solution to her and Ryne’s problem; recognizing and being appreciative of each other. But they were always so pissed off at each other, they couldn’t do it.

Shannon asked Noella, what happened last night? and Noella talked smack about Gina and Emily, saying they were a tag team. Shannon asked if she was over what happened, and Noella said she was. Shannon asked Emily and Gina if they were over what happened, and Gina wondered what had happened. Emily told her, apparently, they were over it. Shannon said she was just trying to help, but Noella told her that she wasn’t helping. Heather was like, not tonight, and Noella felt provoked. She told Heather that she found out she’d gotten a pity invite, but Heather said that wasn’t true. She hadn’t wanted to invite Noella because Noella had given her daughter porn as a gift, and she felt uncomfortable. It was inappropriate. We flashed back to Heather telling Shannon about the card deck, and Noella said she got it on Amazon, like you couldn’t possibly get anything inappropriate there. In her interview, Noella said, accusing her of giving a teen pornography was a new low, even for Heather. Heather said she told Gina this was why she didn’t want to invite her, and Noella got whiplash turning to Gina, and asked why Gina didn’t tell her. Gina said she didn’t think it was her place. In Jen’s interview, she couldn’t understand why Noella just did tell Heather that she didn’t know and she was sorry. Say sorry like you mean it, and maybe it will go be okay. Noella said she’d put LGBTQ gift in the search. Shannon kept trying to interject, and then wailed that no one listened to her. Emily said, Shannon Beador, you have the floor, and Shannon suggested Noella back down and let Heather explain her perspective. Noella accused Heather of straight fragility, and Heather said she had gay children. Noella ranted that she was a bisexual, biracial liberal, and don’t call her inappropriate, totally missing the point as usual. Heather said she never called Noella inappropriate; she said the gift was inappropriate. She assumed Noella hadn’t looked at the cards, and given her the benefit of the doubt. Jen told Heather to read the cards, and Heather brought the info up on her phone. Everyone was like, whoa, and Noella said she never would have given them to Max had she known. In Noella’s interview, she counterbalanced that with saying, even though it was an inappropriate gift for a 17 year old, calling it porn was blowing it out of proportion. Heather said she was proud and supportive of her children. Don’t say she’s not understanding. In Heather’s interview, she says, that’s what she was worried about in inviting Noella. Noella was so calculated, she had things in her back pocket to say if she got in trouble. You don’t win that way. Noella told Heather that she said she was sorry, so were they done?

Next time, Piñata mania, Shannon wears all the sombreros at once, Noella says it’s not a good trip for her, and Jen talks to Ryne about getting a job. Hint: It does not go well.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Looks like we’ll be getting a new episode tomorrow. Barring all unforeseen trials and/or tragedies. If you missed today, it was posted on February 11th, and you can find it here:

Tomorrow, Cyrus says winds of change will be blowing at General Hospital, Sonny tells Phyllis that it felt like someone was important to him, and Nina wants the whole world to know what Carly and Jax did.

🐴 I saw the last half hour of The Real Housewives of Dallas, and it was much of the same old. Kary had invited the women for a weekend at an estate in Austen. Apparently, D’Andra had been saying Kary was a bully behind her back, and Kary called her out for it at dinner. D’Andra offered to leave if Kary didn’t like it, and Kary didn’t disagree. Zzzz… I think Kameron should have a box in the corner where she does diagrams of whatever’s going on, like the people who do signing for speeches. This show needs something to perk it up. I thought it was Tiffany, but she ended up breaking down in tears at the table, instead of force-feeding everyone chicken feet.
