What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts, recaps, and the whole GH enchilada on Fridays)

General Hospital

Holly says she doesn’t know Sonny well, but Luke held him in very high regard. He says, the feeling was mutual, and Holly says, that’s why she’s here. Any friend of Luke’s is a friend of hers. He seems unsure if that translates into doing business. He says, she dropped Luke’s name right away, so she must be in some kind of trouble.

Anna calls Jason and tells him that Sidwell was spotted in Miami. He needs to watch out.

Anna goes to Robert’s office, and he says, she knows. She says, he has another daughter.

Isaiah finds Lucas in the breakroom, and says, they have surgery tomorrow. Is he ready for it?

At The Savoy, Ric says he received a call from Judge Orvis, and he’s ruled in Heather’s favor. He’s vacating her conviction. Trina asks what that means, and he says, tomorrow, Heather is a free woman. Portia says, no. She knew it would happen. Ric says he never intended for this to happen. He wanted to present the new evidence to the court. That’s it.  Curtis asks what he thought would happen, and Ric says, that Heather would be relocated to a minimum-security facility or sent to a mental health center. Curtis says, he exceeded his goal, and Ric says he never thought the judge would vacate her sentence. Portia says, he knew, but didn’t care, and Ric says, Heather is no longer suffering from metallosis. Portia says, so she’s not a threat, and he says, that’s the professional medical assessment. Portia says, Heather murdered five people trying to get to Trina. She thanks him for unleashing the monster that put her daughter’s life at risk.

Robert says, Holly told her, and Anna says, Holly came to see him. If she thought she was going to get sympathy or that she’d run interference with Robert, she was wrong on both fronts. Anna says she knows that makes her a hypocrite, but he says, it’s nothing like her and Robin. She says she thinks Holly would disagree. To be fair, she did lie, but she finds this appalling. He and Holly have so much history, and he’s a wonderful father. Why hide his daughter from him? He says, Holly thought he was dead, and Anna says, what about when she found out he was alive? He says, her intent wasn’t to hurt him, and she says, he’s going to forgive Holly, isn’t he?

Holly says she has delicate merchandise to move and needs Sonny’s assistance. Luke isn’t the only person they have in common. Did Jason mention their heroic adventures in Africa? Sonny says, Jason told him that he brought Lucky home, but he doesn’t recall Jason mentioning her. Holly says, Jason is a man of few words, and Sonny says, they both are. She says she’s glad, since that means they agree on discretion. She prefers to keep their negotiation between them. He says he still doesn’t know what the negotiation is, when Diane comes in and stops short when she sees Holly.

Isaiah says, it looks like he and Lucas had the same idea. Bobbie’s was closed, so he came here to review his notes. Lucas says he’ll get Isaiah after hours status. Bobbie Spencer was his mother. Isaiah says, his mom is a legend at this hospital.

Portia asks what Ric has to say for himself, and Ric says he’s spent time with Heather. He got medical proof. He had her blood work tested at several labs, and the overwhelming consensus… Curtis says, he’s not in the courtroom, and Josslyn tells Dex, they should go. He leaves with her, and Ric says, this isn’t what he wanted. Curtis says, he wanted a check. How much are they talking about from a civil case about Heather’s faulty device? Her vacate will help win the settlement. Ric says, that’s a separate issue, and Curtis says he believed Ric because of his relationship to Molly. He never thought Molly’s father was capable of unleashing a murderer on his daughter for profit. Molly says, blaming Ric isn’t the answer, and Curtis says, if Ric isn’t to blame, who is?  

Sonny asks what he can do for Diane, and she says she was in the neighborhood and that she’d pay a routine social visit, but she sees he’s otherwise engaged. They can catch up later. Lovely to see Holly. Holly says, her too, and Diane leaves. Holly says she can guess where Diane is headed, but Sonny says, it’s none of his business. She asks if he socializes with this attorney, and he asks if she wants to conduct business. She says she’s keen on securing the transaction, but needs assurance, and he says, it’s more important to her than to him. He’ll consider helping her, but tell him what he has to do for her. She dumps the diamonds on his desk (funny, they don’t sound like diamonds), and Sonny picks one up.

Anna says, no matter the years, Holly’s priority has always been Holly, and Robert says, Sasha would agree. She demanded a paternity test. She’s desperate to prove she’s not his kid. Anna asks if he thinks Holly lied, and he says, why take a chance on something that’s easily proved? What would be the point? To hurt Sasha? To hurt him? Anna says she doesn’t see what could hurt him more than the truth.  

Lucas says he studied portal vein thrombosis in med school, but Isaiah has performed transplants that involved it before. Isaiah asks Lucas to walk him through his strategy. How does he plan to perform surgery on his sister and cousin?  

Molly tells Curtis and Portia that no one understands more than she does. Her office prosecuted the case, but if an appeals judge hears it, it’s up to the judge as to what justice looks like from the facts presented. This is not on her father. TJ says, he didn’t have to be Heather’s lawyer. He didn’t have to take the case. He walks off, and Ric and Molly start to follow. Curtis asks if Ric has filed suit to collect his blood money, and Ric says he’s sorry this happened. He leaves with Molly, and Portia says, it’s an absolute nightmare. Curtis tells Trina that she’s coming home with them, and Trina tells him, thanks, but there’s no way she’s moving back home.

Back at his apartment, Dex asks if Josslyn is okay, and Josslyn says, Heather being released was not the news she was expecting. She can’t believe it. He says, Trina’s parents are shaken up, and she says, of course (🍷). Trina is the reason Heather committed those insane acts. He says, she didn’t succeed with Trina or Josslyn, and Josslyn says, thanks to him and Britt. He says he wishes he’d gotten there sooner. Britt would still be alive. She asks if he ever thinks… wishes he’d killed Heather, and he says, all the time.

Portia says she thinks it would be safer if they were all at home together under one roof, and Trina says, strength in numbers? Curtis says he needs Trina where he can protect her, and Trina says she knows he wants to keep her safe and she wants to be. Heather being released isn’t her choice, but she spent a year being terrified and letting Esme and Heather control her. She refuses to go back. She’s going home to her apartment.

Lucas tells Isaiah, it wasn’t his choice. His sister asked him, and Sam is hard to say no to. Isaiah asks if he’s nervous, but Lucas says, no. Isaiah will be doing the heavy lifting. Which begs the question, why is he the surgeon? Why did he sign on to a transplant that has a very high likelihood of failure? Isaiah says, the same reason. Lucky asked him to. Lucky is his best friend and if Lucky’s sister has a shot in hell of making it through this, she’s going to need him. He’ll see Lucas in the morning. He leaves.

At the apartment, Molly says, Ric should go before TJ comes home, but he says he doesn’t want to leave her alone. She says she’s used to it. He’s been their most recent excuse to run from each other. He says he’s sorry and thanks her for defending him. She didn’t have to. She says she knows. He didn’t have to take the case. He says he didn’t mean to hurt anyone, but the law is the law. She says she’s sure his motion was brilliant, and he says, now Heather is going free. She says she prays he’s right and she’ll be a functioning member of society. Either way, it’s too late for regrets. He thanks her for understanding, and she says, but it’s not too late for dropping Ava as a client.

Robert says, it breaks his heart that Sasha is praying he’s not her father, and Anna says, it’s not personal. She doesn’t know him. He says he knows her. The minute she walked in, he knew she was his daughter. Anna asks, how? and he says, she has his mother’s eyes.

Holly tells Sonny, there’s no record of the diamonds. No serial numbers, no way to trace them. If they’re moved, they can’t be tracked. He says, somebody had them before her and they’ll want them back, and she says, hence the desecration and speed. He asks who she’s running from.

TJ comes into the breakroom and tells Lucas that the hospital is a better option than home. Lucas says, work provides distraction, and TJ says, it figures Lucas would bust him for running away, but Lucas says he moved to another state to avoid the mess of his life. If TJ wants to hide out, go ahead. TJ says, at least it’s not a bar, and Lucas says, if he’s here, he can do good and make patients well so they can go home to their families. TJ says he’s avoiding his, and Lucas says, at least he’s not at a bar.

Molly says, Ric took Ava’s case, but he could easily cut her loose. Ric says, why? and she says, maybe because Ava is the reason her baby is dead, but he says he doesn’t believe that’s true. She asks if he wants to debate the cause, and he says, that’s why he can’t drop the case. He’s doing it for her.

Holly tells Sonny that she prefers her valuables to be liquid. She’s in a rush to get out of Port Charles for personal reasons. He says he doesn’t usually handle diamonds. He’ll have to make some calls. She asks if that means he wants to do business, and he says he may be able to help her… on one condition. He gets a sizeable cut.

Anna asks if Robert is all right and he says he will be. She says she needs to follow up on something, and he asks if it’s okay if he’s the one to tell Robin. She says, of course (🍷). Robin always wanted a sister. She leaves.

Dex says he wants Josslyn to be safe, but she says, there’s only so much he can do. He’s a cop now. He says he’s not like other cops. He’s been in combat. He’s killed before, and some people need to be stopped. She says, Heather is one, and he says, if Heather thinks of hurting her, it will be the last thing she ever does.

Portia says, they should force Trina to come home, but Curtis says, she’s an adult and trying to regain control of her life. Portia says, she can’t if she’s dead, and he tells her, don’t say that. She says, it could happen. Clearly, the justice system cares less than Ric. It’s infuriating, and she wonders if Ric would be as blasé if Molly was in danger. Curtis says he doesn’t see how a judge can’t tell Heather is a danger, and she says she wants to ask him if Trina was Josslyn or Molly if the decision would be the same. If a young white woman was the obsession of a serial killer, and not a young Black woman, would Heather be going free?

There’s a knock at the apartment door, and Trina gets a mallet out of the kitchen. She asks who it is, and it’s Gio. He says he thought he’d come by and see if she was okay. She lets him in and says she thought she was, but she’s not.  

Diane goes to Robert’s office and says, he’ll never guess who she saw together. He says, try him, and she says she went to Sonny’s office, and when she saw what she saw, she made it clear that she was only there for a social visit, so no attorney/client privilege. He asks what she saw, and she says, Sonny meeting with Holly.

Holly says, define sizable, and Sonny says, 30%. He’s taking the risk. She says she risked her life for them, and he says he can’t move them. Why here? She says she hopes this business transaction is the first of many. She wants to get the relationship off on the right foot. He laughs and says, she’s something else. Beauty, charm, and that accent… She’s not his type. He needs time to consider it. She tells him, don’t take too long, and takes out a diamond. She says, a deposit, in good faith, and hands it to him. She leaves and he looks at it.

Lucas tells TJ that Sam was adamant that he be her surgeon, and asks if Molly has said anything about him operating on her sister. TJ says, Molly doesn’t share much with him these days. He’d say they’re drifting apart, but she’s pulling away. Lucas says, grief is tricky. It can bring people closer or do the opposite. TJ says, Molly wasn’t not there when they cleared the nursery. She wasn’t there when they picked out the burial plot. Lucas says, TJ still feels alone, and TJ says, tonight felt normal. They were at a party for his granddad. Long story short, Heather Webber is going free and Ric Lansing made it happen. Molly defended Ric and he saw more emotion from her defending her father than from anything they’ve been through. She was present and focused, and she hasn’t been there for him once since their baby died.

Ric says he’s doing it for Molly, but Molly says, it makes no sense. Ava is responsible for her child’s death. Ric says he thought she blamed Kristina, and Molly says, Kristina shouldn’t have gone to Ava’s room, but only one person fell out the window… Two, Kristina and their baby. For that, she needs Ava to pay. He says, that’s what scares him. The vengeance she feels is him, and not what he wants to see in her. His mistakes were driven by his need to get what he was owed. He’s been learning to distinguish when it’s destructive. She says she thinks he’s confusing vengeance with justice, and he says, call it what she wants, but it’s poison. She asks what she should do. Forget what Ava did to her child and call it an accident? He says, it’s his job as a lawyer and a father to present the facts of the case and make her believe it was an accident. He has to prove it to her so she can move on and heal.

Josslyn says she knows Dex would protect her against anything, but don’t wreck his life. Britt died and she would have been next. She’s alive because of him. He says he promises he’ll do what it takes to keep her here, and kisses her.

Gio sees the mallet and says, Trina means business. Josslyn and Dex filled him in on Heather Webber. He doesn’t know how she’s keeping it together. She says she realized she hasn’t been. It seems easy to say, her mom is overreacting, and act mature, saying, let the court decide. It seemed impossible that Heather would ever go free. She killed five people and gets to walk away, probably with a big payoff. It feels so wrong. Gio says, people like them and what she’s feeling are why music and art exist, and she says, like them? He says, sometimes the only way he can express his feelings is through music. He thinks it’s the same for her.

Curtis says, they both know the answer. Sometimes life is not fair. Portia says, a young Black woman is not valued the same way a young white woman is. It makes her want to scream. He says him too, but right now he’s focused on protecting Trina. He could hire a security guard to stand outside the apartment. She says, it’s not enough, but he asks what options they have. He can get a bodyguard. Trina would hate that, but he’ll do it. She says, what Trina wants and what Trina needs are not necessarily the same thing. Heather’s grandson is here, and she’ll want to stay near him. Heather and Trina can’t be in the same city. They’ve got to send Trina away.

Molly says, if Ava isn’t held accountable… Ric says, her baby died for no reason. She says she can’t live with that. She barely talks to TJ about anything deeper than who’s making dinner. It’s the most empty house he’s ever been in because it was about to be so full. Now it’s not and they can’t see through to the other side. They’re stuck in this horrible in-between with no baby and a marriage hanging by a thread. In what world should there be no consequences? He says, it’s nobody’s fault, and she says she needs him to leave. Please go. He says he loves her, but she doesn’t say it back, and he leaves.

Lucas says he and TJ’s situations aren’t the same, but he does have experience with losing a child. He really hopes TJ and Molly do better. TJ asks if Lucas misses Brad, and Lucas says, sometimes, but he’d never go back. TJ might want to ask himself the same question. If he and Molly don’t make it, how much will he miss her? TJ says he doesn’t want to lose Molly, but he doesn’t know how much more they can weather.

Sonny calls Jason and says, there’s a business proposition he needs to talk to Jason about before he takes it.

Robert says, Holly was in Sonny’s office, and Diane says he doesn’t seem surprised. He says, it’s not the worst thing he’s heard about today.

Holly finds Anna in her hotel room and asks if the Police Commissioner is in the habit of breaking and entering. Anna says she thought it best to catch Holly off guard. It’s about Sidwell. The pilot that brought them back from Africa was killed and the plane was ransacked. Interpol has proof Sidwell is in Miami. Holly says, Jenz Sidwell is in the US? And Anna says, it’s a long way to come for hurt feelings. She’s guessing Holly took something from him. Stop lying for once. She’ll help Holly, but she needs the truth. Did she steal something from Sidwell? Holly says, no, and Anna says, really? Fine. Have it her way. Don’t say she didn’t try. Stay away from Robert. The last thing he needs is for Holly to make him a target. Anna leaves.

Josslyn and Dex get very busy.

Trina says she appreciates art, but she’s not an artist, and Gio says he was thinking about music. She loves to sing, and her grandpa said she had a gift. Trina tells him that her grandpa has to say that. Does he want her to write a ballad about how Heather freaks her out? He says, or about how all this feels. Fear, hate, confusion, disappointment, whatever is in her, let it out. She says she’ll think about it, but he says, don’t overthink. She yawns and thanks him for checking on her. He asks if she’s sure she’s okay by herself, and she says she’ll be fine. He asks if it’s okay if he crashes on her couch. It feels safer than a big creepy mansion. She says, sure. And she’s got her trusty mallet to protect them.

Curtis says he and Portia share Trina’s feelings and fears, but what is the chance she’ll give up her life in Port Charles? Portia says, they’ll make her see it’s for the best, and he says, her answer will be a refusal, and she won’t be wrong. She asks, what’s the solution? and he says, Trina’s not leaving. Heather is. She says, how? and he says he’ll handle that. Heather Webber is never going to be a problem ever again.  

Tomorrow, Portia says, if Plan A fails, she may take Elizabeth up on that offer; Sam says, someone wants something, they always do; and Jack says, if Carly has to ask, she’s not as smart as he thought she was.

🧂 Adding 3 Teaspoons Of Salt…

Angie said, no one is innocent, but they’re like family, and no one is more important than family. She was going to make the group an offer they couldn’t refuse and invite them to her 25th anniversary party. The theme? Mob wives. I was all in for that.

Whitney apologized to Meredith and told her that she thought it was Lisa spreading the lies about her business. Meredith felt like Whitney was trying to get her to go against Lisa, but she was staying Switzerland.

Jared Osmond showed up at Angie’s anniversary bash, even though Britani had brought another date – the text calling them Jared and Not Jared. Way to mess with her head. Ugh, this guy. She needs to ditch him yesterday.

As usual, the best place for confrontation was somebody else’s party. At Angie’s anniversary bash, Whitney told Lisa that a source of hers claimed it was Lisa who wanted to sabotage her business. No surprise, Lisa got all bent out of shape and started screeching about lawyers and how she was going to sue whoever was spreading this vicious gossip. She demanded that Whitney name names and told Whitney that she was a liar loud enough for the whole room to hear, causing Whitney’s husband to get involved. Then he and Lisa’s husband looked like they were going to get into a fistfight, which was pretty funny, since neither of them looks like the type to get in a boxing ring. Unfortunately, we have to wait until next week to see how that panned out, since it was interrupted with, to be continued.

The best part, for me anyway, was when Heather suggested a group hug between Meredith, Mary, and herself, and Mary made a face like she smelled something bad. She didn’t receive Meredith’s idea of high-fives any more favorably. I love Mary.

🍸 A Real Charmer Lost…

Sadly, Michael has made his last martini. He was one of the highlights on the show, even though it was only video calls after his stroke. He will be greatly missed.

👀 Last Weekend’s Watch…

Anatomy of Lies was extremely compelling. I was fascinated with this tale of a television writer turned con artist, especially since the only gain was attention. I’m convinced that I’m too lazy to scam people. I can’t imagine having to keep the story straight and, in this case, having to dim down, as Finchie also shaved her head and wore makeup to look sick. There were also those frequent trips to the bathroom to throw up. Yep. Way too much work. She might have continued to get away with it, if it weren’t for her piggybacking on other people’s tragedies and her co-workers realizing she was making like Zelig. This is a definite watch.

What I Watched Today

General Hospital

Mac and Spinelli play frisbee in the park. James wanders off, and Mac wonders what he did.

At the stables, Cody flashes back to Sasha kissing him. Tracy comes by, and he asks if she wants him to prep Hades, but she says she’s planning on taking him for a ride. So buckle up.

Sasha flashes back to Cody saying he loves James, when Willow comes in and tells her that Cody left his hat. She suggests Sasha take it back to him, but Sasha says she has to be on a call with the caterers. Willow says, Olivia isn’t here. She must have forgotten. Sasha says, it’s not with Olivia. It’s with Drew and he’s MIA.

Drew wakes up next to Nina and asks, what time is it? She says, too early to get up, but he says he’s got a call he can’t miss with Sasha and the caterers. It’s for the campaign. Nina tells him to skip it, but he says, it’s too late to bail. She says, Sasha can handle it, but he says, she can’t make decisions without him. Nina kisses him.

Brook, Lois, and Gio eat on the patio, and Lois asks if Blaze got off okay. Brook says, she got on the plane, and Gio says he has to get going. Lois says, pretty soon, he’ll be focusing on concerts, but he says, there might not be as many as he thought. He was counting on the gallery concert for exposure, but who’s going to go to a gallery owned by a murderer?  

On the phone, Sonny says he needs to find Clement. He opens the door and Natalia is there. She says she came to say goodbye. She’s going home to Puerto Rico.

Tracy says she plans on testing Cody’s mind, not his body, and Cody says, fair warning. He has a finite set of skills. She says she’ll go easy on him, and he says, it doesn’t sound like fun. She asks if he can count and differentiate between black and white, and he says he can. She says, then he can play backgammon.

Lois tells Gio that she’s sure the show will go on in spite of Ava, and Brook says, it might bring more people out of curiosity. Lois says, artists would jump at the chance to attach themselves to Ava’s notoriety. He’s too good and has too many positive things in his life to play background music for the upper-class bourgeoisie. He says he doesn’t care what people think about him, but there are a few people whose opinions matter. Like Uncle Sonny.

Natalia tells Sonny about Blaze’s tour, and says, she and Kristina broke up. Sonny says, Kristina didn’t tell him, and Natalia says, it was difficult for both of them. Maybe Kristina is still processing. She saw Blaze off, but they didn’t part on good terms. Sonny says he’s been there. It’s not easy, but they love each other and he’s sure it will work out. Natalia says, hopefully, but their potential reconciliation won’t take place here. Sonny says, so it’s a permanent move, and she says, that’s the plan. Alison doesn’t want her on tour, and she came here be with her, so she has no reason to stick around. He says, what if he gave her one.

Drew says, it’s a great way to start the day, and Nina says, it was a great way to spend the night. He says he thinks they set a new record. It’s been 10 hours, and they haven’t said anything nasty to each other. Now his would-be constituents await. She says, duty calls.

Michael asks if Willow has seen Drew, and she flashes back to her and Drew being in the elevator. She says, not since last night, and he asks if she’d mind calling him. He’s sure Drew will pick up for his star fundraiser. She says she doesn’t know where he is and doesn’t want to call. They hardly cross paths, and from now on, they won’t see each other at the foundation at all. Michael asks what that means.

Spinelli finds James sitting under a tree and asks if James wants to play frisbee, but James says, no, and asks how long they’re going to stay. Spinelli says, they just got here, but James says he’s bored. Spinelli asks what he wants to do. It will just be between them. James says he wants to ride horses with Cody, but Grandpa Mac said no.

Mac tells Felicia and Maxie, Two Trees is amazing, but Maxie says, there’s no Cody. She knows Mac has his own issues with Cody, but forbidding James to see him wasn’t Mac’s call. Felicia says, they discussed this at home, and Mac says, summer is almost over. James will be back in school before he knows it and he’ll forget about Cody. Maxie says she doubts it and asks if he doesn’t think he’s punished Cody long enough. She leaves, and Felicia says, Mac messed up big. She hopes he plans on fixing it, since she’s not doing it for him.

Maxie meets Nina as she walks into the park, and Nina thanks her for texting. It’s a lovely day. Maxie says, Nina is in a good mood. Did she have her teeth whitened? Nina says, no, and Maxie asks if she did her hair. Something is definitely different. Lucy would say her aura is glowing. Lucy would say, when Scott… Did she sleep with Drew again?

Drew comes in and tells Sasha that they’ll have to reschedule. His campaign strategy session went late and he overslept. She tells him, no problem, and Drew apologizes for barging in. Michael tells him that he and Willow were talking about her work at the Institute, and Willow says she’s come to a decision. She’s decided to go back to nursing. She’s resigning.

Tracy says, Cody gets the first roll, and Cody says, she must have been playing for a long time; she’s so knowledgeable. She says she played with her boys when they were young, then picked it back up when she was in the hospital for a while. He asks what she was in the hospital for, and she says, that’s a little forward. He says, she brought up, and she says she was infected with parasitic brain worms on a tropical vacation from a treat fed to her by Ned’s con artist father, Larry Ashton. Cody says, sounds scary, and she says, it was. He says, there are worse ways to spend time in the hospital than playing backgammon, and she says she remembers it fondly. He says, because she got to be the center of attention, but she says, because she made a friend. (I went through a backgammon phase years ago, so I get why Tracy loves it. It can be addicting.)

Brook says she thinks Sonny would respect Gio for sticking to his word, and Lois says, he has to do what’s best for him. Sonny isn’t his keeper. He’s his own man. Gio says he doesn’t want to let Sonny down, and what’s best for him right now is to get to work. He leaves, and Brook says, Lois is usually Sonny’s biggest defender, but she’s telling Gio not to care what Sonny thinks. What’s going on?

Sonny asks if Natalia wants to stay in Port Charles, and she says, it has its charms, but in her current situation, she lacks the income to sustain a bicoastal life. He says, this is where he can help, but she says, the only thing she knows about coffee is that she’s useless in the morning without it. (Same.) He says, she knows numbers, and he calls Brook. He says he was wondering if she could come over. He’s got a proposition for her. Brook asks, what kind of proposition?

Willow tells Drew and Michael that she agonized about it for weeks. She missed nursing. It fulfilled her and she feels she has a purpose as a nurse more than doing PSAs. Michael says he would have understood, and she says she wanted to be sure. She didn’t want to disappoint anyone. Nina has been helpful, and they won’t be working together anymore. Neither will she and Drew, and he’s been so supportive. Drew says he’ll always believe in her. She’s got his faith and support whether she works at the Institute or GH. He and Michael feel the same way. She should do what makes her happy. Willow says she appreciates him making it easy. She has to get the beach stuff together. She’ll meet Michael back here. She and Drew leave in opposite directions, and Sasha says, Michael rolled with Willow’s decision, but he says, what choice did he have?

Nina says she thought Drew would ditch his plans. They had an amazing time. Maxie says she knows. They had great sex. There were fireworks. Drew spending the night was unexpected. Nina says, it’s not like they’re in love. They’re two consenting adults enjoying each other. The more Drew sees it as enjoyable, the less he’ll intrude on her daughter’s marriage.

Spinelli tells James that he knows it seems unfair, but disagreements happen sometimes. Like how he has fights with his friends. James says, they usually make up, and Spinelli says he’s sure Mac and Cody will too, but it will take time.  

Mac says he’s not apologizing to make it easier on Cody. He’s a liar and a sneak. He doesn’t need or want Cody in his life. Felicia says she’s not convinced Cody shouldn’t get a second chance, but it’s Mac’s decision and she’s good with whatever he decides. He says, thanks, and she says, but don’t drag their grandson into it. The longer he keeps James and Cody apart with no explanation, the worse his and James’s relationship will be. Is that a price he’s willing to pay?

Tracy tells Cody that she was not a model patient. Her doctor weathered her ill humor with grace and got to know her. He was gentle and kind, but he was tough. And don’t get her started on how prickly he could be. Cody says, he sounds like an interesting fellow, and she says she clicks with few people the way she did with him. He says he’s glad the doctor was there for her, and she says, her too. Finn is one of a kind. He says, she misses him, and she says, very much.

James sneaks around and watches the others from behind a tree. Spinelli asks if Nina and Maxie want to play frisbee.  

As they sit on a bench, Mac tells Felicia that he’s trying to shield James from disappointment, but sooner or later, he’ll realize Cody is not the hero he pretends to be. She says, what if he’s wrong? What if Cody lives up to James’s expectations? Sometimes people can be better if they know someone believes in them.

James slips behind another tree and watches Mac and Felicia.

Lois and Brook go to the penthouse, and Sonny says he didn’t know Lois was going to show up. Lois says she was with Brook when he called and it piqued her curiosity, so she thought she’d come along. She and Brook greet Natalia, and Lois asks, what’s the idea he’s got them so eager to hear? Sonny says he was investing in a new record label, and Brook says, don’t get her wrong. She’s happy that Blaze is living her dream on tour, but she’s disappointed their idea got shelved. Sonny says, the money he set aside is still there, and he thought of a better use for it than it sitting in a bank collecting interest. Brook asks what he has in mind, and he says he’d like to invest in Deception.

Drew goes to the boathouse where Willow is getting the beach stuff together and asks if Willow needs some help. She says, thanks, but no thanks, then slips moving a box and falls on her behind. He holds out his hand, but she says she’s got it. She gathers what she needs and says she doesn’t want to keep Michael waiting. Drew says he doesn’t want her to make a big mistake.

Sasha says she knows Michael was excited about Willow’s job at the Institute, but he says, only because Willow was. If he’s learned anything from her, it’s that time is precious, and he doesn’t want her wasting it being unhappy. He doesn’t have to tell Sasha how precious time is with the person you love. He’s sorry. He wasn’t thinking. She says she’s made as much peace as she’s going to with Brando’s death. Now she smiles most of the time, rather than cries, when she thinks about him. She doesn’t think she could survive another heartbreak. He says she’s stronger than she thinks. Life doesn’t come with guarantees. You can wonder if you missed out on something great or risk being hurt.

Cody asks if Tracy has heard much from Finn, and she says she thinks he’s been concentrating on his recovery. He says it sounds like they have a special relationship, and he’s sure they’ll be happy to see each other when Finn comes home. She says she doesn’t know how happy Finn will be to see her, and he asks, why not? She says she may have been too hard on him. He hugged her when he left, but she hasn’t heard from him. He says he’s had friends go through rehab, and when Finn is thinking clearly, he’ll understand. She says she hopes so. Her only goal was to help him. He says, it sounds like underneath that tough shell, she’s pretty warm, fuzzy, and compassionate. Did he just win? She says, what? How? He says, beginner’s luck.

Sonny says, Deception has been struggling since last summer. He thinks the cash will take them over the hump and they’ll expand their audience. He’ll structure the deal, but be a silent partner. Brook says, this could be a game changer, and he says, on one condition. They hire Natalia.

Maxie brings Nina over to the group, and Nina says she wanted to come by to see them and James. Mac says, if James is still hellbent on taking riding lessons with Cody, he won’t stand in his way, and Maxie says, finally. She calls to James, but there’s no answer. She wonders where he is and yells, answer me right now!

Sonny says he wants to invest a lot of cash in Deception without taking an active role, but he wants a representative to handle his interests. Natalia is great with finances and negotiating. Brook says, Natalia’s haggling over Blaze’s contract kept Lucy awake at night, but Lois says, the music business is different than a cosmetics company. Brook says, she and Lucy lean more toward the creative side rather than financial, and Sonny says, Natalia knows numbers and will work in his best interest. Lois says, what about when his best interests don’t align with Deception’s? and Natalia says, that’s a fair question. Deception’s best interests are identical to Sonny’s. If he succeeds, then they do. Brook says she needs to discuss it with her partners. She’ll start with Tracy.  She suggests Natalia come along, since she thinks Natalia is her own best advocate, and Natalia says she’d love to. Brook thanks Sonny and says she’ll be in touch, and Natalia tells him, what she said. They leave, and Sonny asks Lois to stick around. He has a few words to say to her. She says she has a dictionary she’d like to break over his head, and he tells her that he just wants to say he’s sorry.

Spinelli suggests they split up to search for James, and Nina says, he’s a smart kid. Maxie says, too smart for his own good, and Spinelli says, it’s the first time he’s taken off like that. Maxie says she thinks she knows where to find him, and leaves, when Nina gets a call from Michael. She asks if everything is all right, and he says, everything’s fine, but he needs to talk to her about Willow.

At the boathouse, Willow tells Drew that her role isn’t what she expected. She’s not feeling fulfilled. He says, then they’ll make her feel fulfilled, but she says, they can’t. Being there at all is the problem. He says he had no indication, and she says she didn’t realize until she visited Kristina. When she was helping Kristina, she remembered why she fell in love with nursing and realized she missed the work. He says, she’s so good. He’s seen the numbers and she’s driving up donor registration. She says she’ll keep doing it until the Institute finds a replacement, but she can’t commit to anything else. She’s going back to GH. He says he’s happy for her, but wants to make sure her motivation is honest. Does her resignation have anything to do with him?

Tracy says, Cody cheated, but he says, how could he? She was watching him the whole time. She says, he’s not a beginner, and he says he never told her that he was. She assumed. It’s only hustling if you’re playing for money. She says she could have won if she hadn’t been distracted by his questions about Finn, and he says he wanted to know more about her. If he happened to win in the meantime, good. She says, next time, she won’t be so benevolent, and he says he expects nothing less. Sasha comes in and says she doesn’t want to interrupt, but Tracy says she arrived just in time. She was about to beat Cody senseless. Rematch? He says he looks forward to it, when Tracy’s phone rings. She walks out while talking to Brook, and Cody tells Sasha, backgammon is a bloodsport around here. She says she found this, and hands him his hat. He puts it on, and she says she found something else – her senses. He asks what she means, and she says she’s tired of being scared and playing it safe. Life is short. She thinks they should do this. He says, do what? and she kisses him.

Mac says he saw James and Spinelli with their heads together. What were they talking about? Spinelli says, James is distressed about Mac’s antipathy toward Cody, and Felicia says, this isn’t the way she wanted to be proved right.

Sasha asks if Cody can take a break, and he says he can take the whole day. He has to shower too. She says, he doesn’t smell bad. They can get dirtier together. They start to get busy, when Maxie walks in. She says she’s sorry. She doesn’t need to see this. Congratulations. She’ll let them both get back to it, but she has a question. Have they seen James anywhere?  

Nina asks Michael, what’s wrong? and Michael tells her that she and Willow won’t be collaborating on the New Tomorrow Institute anymore. Willow is resigning and returning to GH. He’ll let Willow be the one to tell her why. Nina says she can probably guess.  

Drew says, Willow’s work at the Institute is important to them and she’s changing lives. Don’t give up because he made it complicated. She says, it’s the only way to make it better. She loves Michael, and she’s committed to him and her family. But she can’t stop thinking about Drew. It’s wrong, and she wants as much distance put between them as possible before she does anything else she regrets. She takes the beach stuff and leaves.

Sonny says he found out that his meds had been off for a while, and Lois says, that’s a big deal. Is he okay? Did they fix the dosage? He says he’s back on track. He wants her to know she means the world to him. She always has and always will. Lois says, he means the world to her too, and thanks him for telling her. She saw he was off. Now she knows why. He asks if they’re friends again. Are they square? She says, they’re always friends. Square, not so much. He asks what she means, and she says, the infusion of money to Deception. Where is it coming from? (Didn’t they have this conversation? It’s the same money.) He says, every dime is legit. She can call his accountant. She says she believes him, but even the appearance of impropriety will be more damaging than maleficence. He asks what’s worrying her, and she says she loves him, and his personal life is his own, but she doesn’t want the business under federal scrutiny because he’s trying to impress a woman.

Brook tells Tracy, it’s a large infusion of capital that could fund Research and Development for five years. They can finally break ground on that. Tracy asks what Natalia thinks her title should be, and Natalia says she thinks CFO is appropriate. Tracy says she’s surprised the financial institution didn’t contact her, and Brook says, it’s a small bank, but the money is vetted and secured. Tracy asks, what’s the name of the bank? and Brook says, the Bank of Sonny. Tracy says, over my dead body

Tomorrow, Lucy says she thinks it’s a great idea; John tells Ava that he’s got Sonny where he wants him; Maxie says, nobody is going to find James unless he wants them to; and Cody dives into the water, presumably looking for James.

💰 Hard Times In Listings…

Not only does the market still stink, buyers are also pulling out of deals; JoshA saying the fallout was around 25%. He came close to getting a new house for JoshF, going so far as to forego his commission, but JoshF wasn’t willing to come up even another $200K. I always figure, when you’re talking millions, what’s another couple hundred thousand? Tracy, playing the role of JoshF’s broker, had already agreed to no commission since JoshF had done the same for her. Since they were at an impasse, Tracy suggested they finish the tequila and call it a night. JoshF then began to lean toward rebuilding his gutted dreamhouse. In an interesting panty twist, Tracy found a pair of satin undies amongst the rubble and threw them over the fence. Nice. She’s going to be exiled to Summer House if she’s not careful.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

At the hospital, Ava asks to speak to Austin, but the nurse at the desk says he’s with a patient. Would she like to leave a message? Ava says, no. This message needs to be delivered in person.

Cody starts to lift a bale of hay, and stops, saying, oh yeah, that wound. Maybe no lifting today. He goes into the stables, and asks Brook what she’s doing there. She says, Leo’s not the only Q who likes horses, and he says, liking them is one thing, but her feeding stance… Is she bucking for his job? She says she’s taking a break from work; hiding out from her Granny Tracy and her dad, who’s now known as the hard-partying rocker Eddie Maine.

Olivia finds Ned/Eddie in the nook, and says, good afternoon. He says, it’s afternoon already? and she says, if he didn’t stay out all night, he wouldn’t miss half the morning. He says he doesn’t see that changing any time soon… but he does appreciate her making him… What is that egg thing Leo said she made? Anyway, it was great; it really hit the spot. She says, frittata. It was his favorite… Ned’s favorite.

Molly instructs TJ on the placement of a plate of cookies, and he says he can’t believe they agreed to come to their home, instead of them going to the office. She says she’s grateful they did. She can’t believe this is happening so quickly. He says, as long as they don’t believe they’re entitled because they’re coming here, and she points to her foot, saying, it’s called extenuating circumstances. She really wants this first meeting to go well. He says, so does he, especially since it’s the first step to having a family.

Spencer goes into Kelly’s, followed by Esme with Ace, and sees Josslyn. He says, in all the years Cam worked here, and even when he did, he never pictured her wearing a Kelly’s apron. She says, why not? It’s a good gig. Her mom owns the place now. She’s just helping her out. He asks if she’s giving up on pre-med, and she asks if she said that. No. Her career path doesn’t have to change. She’s just helping her mom out. He says, fair enough, and she asks what they’re doing here. She wonders if Esme quit her job at The Invader, but Esme says, of course (🍷) not. She’s on her lunch break and thought she’d spend a little time with Ace away from daycare. Kristina walks in and squeals, asking if that’s little baby Ace. He’s so adorable. Spencer was right; he’s so cute. (He is. I’m not even a baby person, and he is.) She can’t believe it took her so long to meet him. She tells Ace that she’s his cousin and it’s nice to meet him.

At the hospital, Dex sees Trina in a waiting area, and says he doesn’t mean to bother her, but Sonny sent him to see how Curtis was doing. The nurses won’t tell him anything because he’s not family, but maybe she could. She says she can’t tell him much, and he asks if Curtis is with the doctors now. She says, no, but Curtis, her dad, is refusing to see her.

Austin introduces himself to Curtis and says, according to his chart, Curtis has turned away his physical therapist. Curtis says he didn’t feel like physical therapy today, and Austin says he sees. He checks Curtis’s vitals and says, maybe he wants to go tomorrow. It’s a very important component of his recovery. Curtis doesn’t respond, and Austin says he doesn’t know if anyone has explained this to Curtis, but when he leaves here, he’s going to go to the rehabilitation facility. Does Curtis have any questions while he’s here? Curtis says, no, and Austin says, if that changes, just let the nurse know, and he’ll be more than happy to circle back. He leaves, and Curtis remembers reading, this condition can’t be cured. He flashes back to telling Portia, if he’s not going to walk again, she’s not remodeling their home; she has to let him go. If she really wants to help, she’ll walk out the door and not walk back. Curtis throws his phone against the door, and Stella walks in.

Cody says, maybe he overdid it coming back to work so soon, but somebody’s got to feed the horses, and Brook says, it’s already been taken care of. What does he need? Can she get him some water? He says he’d prefer beer. Grab herself one too. He hates to drink alone. She says, water it is, and he sits down. He says, yep, that hurts, and she asks how bad Sasha hurt him, handing him a water. She says she’s not the shy, retiring type, and he asks if anyone is shy in the Quartermaine family. She says, of course (🍷) not, but he didn’t answer her question. How badly did Sasha hurt him? He says, it’s nothing he can’t handle, and definitely not bad enough she should be sent to Ferncliff.

Ned says, the night Olivia brought the ravioli over to Sonny’s place, he did try some of that. It was delicious. Has she ever thought of becoming a chef? She says she does co-own a restaurant and gives the chef notes on his menu sometimes, but that’s enough for her. She gets enough satisfaction out of cooking for her family and loved ones. He asks if she’s always been a good cook, but she says, no. She remembers when she was a teenager in Bensonhurst, her Nona was always dying for her to learn her recipes. She was always too busy to let Nona teach her. He says, busy with school? He bets she was a cheerleader. She says, ha! Her? No. She was more of a wild child. After school, the only thing she wanted to do was cause trouble.

TJ sets some bottles of water down, and Molly says, flat and sparkling. It’s good to give her a choice. He wonders if they’re overthinking this, and she says, of course (🍷) they are. That’s always best. There’s a knock at the door, and he says, that must be her. Molly says, let’s knock this out of the park, since she’s been watching Below Deck, and he opens the door. A woman says she’s Clair Brown, and he says, the surrogacy matching professional? She says, that’s her, and he says he’s TJ. They’ve been expecting her. Please come in. He thanks her for coming to their home, and introduces his partner Molly. Clair says she was happy to accommodate, and asks how Molly is feeling. Molly says, better, and TJ asks Clair to have a seat. Clair sits and asks if it’s their first meeting with a surrogacy specialist. Molly says, yes. They just recently found out she’s unable to have a baby on her own. Clair says, there’s no reason for them to be nervous. She’s done this process with hundreds of couples. And don’t be afraid to ask her anything. In her line of work, she’s found the only bad question is the unasked one. TJ says, understood, and Molly asks where they start. Clair says she’ll start with the basics of what hiring a surrogate will be like and find out what their preferences are. The first thing is, are they interested in a gestational surrogate or a traditional surrogate?

Stella picks up Curtis’s phone and asks how he’s doing. He says, how does she think? and she says she spoke to Portia… He tells her that he knows what she’s going to say. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, Curtis. Get on with your life. God never gives us more than we can handle. She says, that’s not what she was going to say at all. She honestly doesn’t know what to say, except she’s sorry. She’s so, so sorry. She hugs him.

Trina tells Dex that she shouldn’t have said anything, and he asks, why? She says she barely knows him, and she just shared way too much information. He says, she’s Joss’s best friend, and he knows Joss is busy today helping her mom at Kelly’s, so maybe Trina could consider him her proxy. If she wants him to leave, he will, but if she needs someone to talk to, he hopes she feels comfortable sharing whatever she would have with Joss with him. Trina guesses she’ll take a shot at it, because she really needs to talk about this. She needs to talk about it with someone who isn’t family. He says he definitely qualifies, and she says, the doctors think it’s a possibility that Curtis may never walk again. He says he knew that was a possibility, but he hoped that wouldn’t be the case. He’s really sorry. She says, that’s not even the worst part. Ever since Curtis found out he may never walk again, he’s refusing to see her.

Kristina says, Ace is the absolute cutest, and tells Esme to have a good day with her son. She goes over to Josslyn, and says, welcome to life behind the counter. She should think about putting in an application at Charlie’s. Josslyn says she’d rather stick pins in her eyes, and Kristina says, Charlie’s is not that bad. It’s the same thing as Kelly’s, but with alcohol. Josslyn says, right, but  that’s where Sonny tends to go with Nina, so hard pass. Kristina says, okay, and walks out. Esme tells Spencer, Josslyn and Kristina don’t seem to like each other very much. What’s their deal?

Austin finds Ava in his office, and she says, finally. He closes the door, and she says, take it easy. She knows he’s been ignoring her. he’s been ignoring her calls. He’s been ignoring her texts. She had to track him down in person because she needs to know, what the hell is going on?  He says he hasn’t been avoiding her calls or her texts; he’s a doctor. He’s been very busy. He has a lot of patients to care for. She says he has one less patient to worry about, now that Gordon Stevens was found dead in an alley, right here outside the hospital.

Austin says he heard what happened to Gordon. It’s very unfortunate. Ava says, unfortunate? A heart attack is unfortunate. Two bullets to the chest is murder. He says he went over this with Detective Chase, just so she knows. Austin told him that he didn’t know anything about Gordon’s death. Which isn’t a lie, because he didn’t know who Gordon was. He really doesn’t know anything about his death. She says, oh my God. Austin killed him, didn’t he?

Curtis says he’s sorry, and Stella asks what he has to be sorry about. He says, clearly he upset her with his outburst, but she says, he hasn’t done anything wrong. That bullet wasn’t meant for him. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. None of this is his fault. But unfortunately, it is his reality now, and that’s why she’s here. She’s here to help him in any way she can. He says, there’s nothing she can do. There’s nothing anyone can do. She sits on the bed and says she’s going to have to disagree with him. He has a family that loves him; a family whose love is as strong as any army. An army that will support him and care for him, and guide him through this unfortunate circumstance. He says, unfortunate circumstance? He can’t walk. He can’t run. He can’t dance. He’s not the person he was a week ago. He’s not the man he was. He never will be again. That’s his future. Curtis is literally whining, and I want him to stop that.

Trina tells Dex that when she found out Curtis may be her biological father, she had no interest in getting a DNA test. Marcus Taggert will always be her dad, the man who raised her, no matter what a DNA test said. He asks, what changed her mind? and she says, Curtis was so brave in Greenland. He literally risked his life to save hers. She thought the least she could do was take a DNA test. It turned out Curtis was her biological father, and it changed things. He says, how so? and she says, things got weird between her and her dad, but also between her and Curtis. He wasn’t just the man married to her mom. He wasn’t just her stepdad. She had to look at him differently. She had to look at them like father and daughter. Then it slowly got less weird, and they started bonding. Until she pushed him away.

Josslyn says, if Esme has something to ask her, just as her, not Spencer, and Esme says, okay then. What’s the deal with her and Kristina? Why don’t they like each other? Josslyn says, the answer is simple and it’s none of her business, and Spencer tells her, don’t be like that. It’s not like it’s a state secret. Kristina is Team Sonny and Josslyn’s Team Carly. Josslyn says, sure. In her opinion, she just thinks is you’re Team Sonny, you’re a bit misguided. She walks off, and Esme says she wasn’t trying to provoke Josslyn. She hopes Spencer knows that. Ace fusses, and Esme says she just thought, Kristina treats her like a human being, which is a refreshing change. Ace continues to fuss, and Esme says she’s going to take him back to daycare.

Brook says, correct her if she’s wrong, but Sasha grabbed a knife off of the bar and stabbed Cody with it. He says, that’s all true, but Sasha was terrified. She says, of him? and he says, she didn’t even know it was him. She kept calling him Cyrus. Brook says she knows he’s friends with Sasha. Sasha is her friend too, but if Sasha was hallucinating he was someone else, that’s an argument for Ferncliff. She lost touch with reality and became violent, and this isn’t the first time she’s been violent. She smashed the windshield of that reporter’s car. He says, that reporter who was aggressively provoking her, and Brook says, maybe Ferncliff is the best place for her, but he says, no. And he refuses to believe that.

Molly says, if she has it right, a gestational surrogate is a person not related to the fetus because they didn’t provide the egg, and Clair says, that’s correct. In their case, it would be a donor egg fertilized with TJ’s sperm and impregnated through IVF. Molly says, whereas a traditional surrogate provides the egg and is genetically related to the fetus, and Clair says, right again. She has several traditional surrogates who are willing to supply the egg and be fertilized through IUI. So that’s the first question. Do they have plans to secure a donor egg? Kristina blows in, and says, my God, that Josslyn is such a bitch.

Austin tells Ava that he didn’t kill Gordon. He couldn’t do something like that. She knows him better than that. She says she doesn’t. As a matter of fact, now that she thinks about it, she knows next to nothing about him. He wonders how she can say that; they had sex. She says, they scratched an itch, that’s all. And just because they know each other doesn’t mean they know each other. He says, after everything they’ve been through, he’d say they do. She knows him better than anyone’s known him in a long time. She says, everything they’ve been through? Like him helping her cover up her husband’s death? He says, it was bad luck that he arrived just after she killed her husband, and she begged him to help her hide the body. She says, it’s too bad his help came with a side of Mason. Austin’s phone beeps, and she says, he was just a nuisance at first, but now he’s got that psycho Betty looking after her child. He looks at his phone, and says he hates that Mason was there that night and brought her into his world, but that’s the way it is. But understand something. Mason and the people who Mason works for, those are the people who hurt people like Gordon. He could never do anything like that. He has to go. She tells him, hurry back. She still has questions, and she’d like some answers. He says, okay, and leaves. She starts snooping around his office.

Cody tells Brook, none of this tracks. Sasha kept it together when the producers at Home & Heart were trying to sabotage her by playing crying baby noises in her earpiece. She says, he’s right. Sasha did show a lot of courage that day, but of course (🍷) she did get a little assist from him when he threatened to run in front of the camera naked if they didn’t stop the sabotage. By the way, she has to ask him. Would he really have done that? Gotten naked on live TV? He asks what she thinks, and she says, it’s admirable he would have done that to help Sasha. He says, that’s his point. How is the same woman who kept it together under incredible pressure suddenly become a delusional trainwreck in just over a month?

Ned says, Olivia was a wild child? Which means what exactly? She skipped school and went to the mall? She says, the mall, and laughs. That’s for babies; that’s middle school. By the time she was in high school, she and her best friend Lois – who he also might remember – they gave their Nonos every grey hair they had on their head. They were smoking, they were running around with older boys, they were sneaking into nightclubs with their ginormous bangs and little skirts about the size of a belt. He says, sounds like she was a good time. He never would have guessed. She says she got pregnant. She had to give up her partying days to raise her son.

Molly introduces Kristina, and says, Clair is a matching professional, who will hopefully be matching her and TJ with a surrogate so they can have a baby. Kristina says, wow. That’s amazing. Molly and TJ are going to be incredible parents. Does Clair know they’re a doctor and a lawyer? The ultimate power couple. Clair says, yes. She read their application before the meeting, and Kristina says, duh. Of course (🍷) she did. Clair doesn’t need her to tell her anything else about them. She’ll text Molly later, and it was lovely to meet Clair. They’re just so great. She leaves, and in the hallway, she says, what? TJ says he’s sorry for the interruption. Where were they? Clair says, some couples choose to use a donor egg from a family member so they’ll share the same family DNA. Is that a possibility for them? Molly says, no. They’re interested in a traditional surrogacy using the surrogate’s egg.

Spencer goes into the kitchen and asks Josslyn if he can get a chocolate milkshake on the house. She says, of course (🍷). She’ll get him the shake, for double the price. He says, that was awkward with Esme before, right? and she says, yeah. Isn’t everything awkward with Esme? He says he’s sorry he blabbed about her issues with Kristina to Esme. He didn’t mean to. She says, that’s okay. Don’t worry about it. He says, before Esme left, she said Kristina was the only person who made her feel like a real human being. He hates to say it, but he kind of felt sorry for her.

Dex says, Trina doesn’t need to tell him anything she doesn’t want to, but if she and Curtis were starting to bond, why did she suddenly push him away? She says, because he did something she disapproved of, and she pushed him away. So the fragile bond they were building, she broke it. And now when he needs her, he won’t let her help him. He says he thinks she might be wrong about this one.

Ava flips through a file box, and says, okay, Gordon Stevens. Let’s see what your problem with Austin was.

Austin tells Curtis that he’ll be leaving tomorrow and spending a few weeks in the rehabilitation facility. After that, it’s very important that he continue his rehab at home. He’s sure Dr. Robinson has already explained all this to him. Stella says she’ll take it from here, and Austin leaves. Curtis says he doesn’t think he can do this, but Stella says, Curtis Byron Ashford. You have had a lifetime of hardships and struggles, more than any one man should have to bear, and I have watched you triumph over each and every one of them. He says, this is different, and she says, he’s right; it is.

Josslyn gives Spencer his shake, and says she knows the reason he moved in with Esme was to protect Ace, and she respects that. But even though Esme has lost her memory, Josslyn hasn’t. She hasn’t forgotten what Esme did to Trina, her, and Cameron. It’s just really weird for her to be around Esme like that. It isn’t for him? He says, it’s not as hard as it used to be, but that’s because of Ace. His first priority was, and still is, Trina. She says, so why isn’t he with her right now? and walks out of the kitchen.

Ned says, it sounds like a tragedy to him, and Olivia says, how so? He says, she was forced to give up her party girl days to be a mom. It’s tragic. She says, absolutely not. Her son Dante is an absolutely amazing man. He saw Dante last night; Dante is the one who brought him here. if he remembers it. He says, she doesn’t really expect him to believe she doesn’t miss her wild party days, and she says, sure, once in a while. Does she regret giving up partying to raise her son? Absolutely not. She wouldn’t trade her son for anything in the entire world.

Cody says, Brook told him that Sasha was violent before when she attacked that sleazy reporter’s windshield and smashed it, but Sasha was on drugs back then, right? Brook says, she was, but then she got clean, and he asks if it’s possible she relapsed and was on drugs again at the pool. The way she was acting, thinking he was Cyrus Renault. If he didn’t know anything about Sasha, and was a total stranger, he would have completely assumed she was high as a kite. She asks if he thinks Sasha fell off the wagon, and he says, maybe she didn’t know she was drugged. What if someone spiked her drink? Brook says she knows he’s trying to find any possible way to justify Sasha’s behavior, but Sasha has a history of mental illness. If they deny that, they’re not helping her. He says, maybe she wasn’t drugged, but something happened to derail her. He’d bet anything it started with Gladys.

Clair says, Molly and TJ have answered all the questions she needed answering. Now it’s time for her to put together a list of potential surrogate candidates for them for them to interview. Molly says, that’s it? It seems way easier than she thought. Clair says, so going forward, the issue will be finding a surrogate that they feel comfortable with. TJ thanks her, and says, they’re excited to take the next step. Clair says, it was nice meeting both of them. They seem to have a very good grasp on what they want, which will make the process go smoothly. TJ says he’ll walk her out, and walks with her maybe 10 feet to the door. He thanks her again, and Clair leaves. He asks what Molly thinks, and she says she thinks it’s lucky she’s in this boot, or she might have jumped off the couch and tackled Kristina for being inappropriate. Which would have disqualified them from Clair’s service. He says, her sister has a real gift for showing up at the exact wrong moment, and Molly says she doesn’t know. Maybe Kristina showed up at just the right time.

Sitting at the counter, Spencer tells Josslyn, with everything going on with Curtis, he’s trying to be respectful. He’s keeping his distance away from Trina and her family. Josslyn says, but why? Trina just found out Curtis isn’t her stepdad; that he’s her biological father. He’s just been shot. He could be paralyzed for the rest of his life. If she was in Trina’s position, she wouldn’t want her boyfriend to keep his distance from her. He says, Portia has recently graduated in her feelings for him. She’s gone from being vocally disapproving of him to outright telling Trina that she doesn’t want him anywhere near her. Josslyn says, it’s a big world out there. Maybe just spend time with Trina far away from Portia. Kristina walks in, and says, that’s certainly one idea. She’s also got others. Maybe instead of dumping his beautiful baby brother off at daycare, Spencer could grab Ace and his mom and take them to the park.

Dex tells Trina, when he was overseas in the military and one of his buddies was seriously injured, the hardest part was watching them isolate themselves from the rest of them. But after a while, you start to get it. Their job in the military is literally to protect people. So if you get injured and lose your ability to be a protector, it’s got to mess with your head. For Curtis, he’s not just this guy married to Trina’s mom; he’s her actual biological father. It’s got to kill him that he can’t be Trina’s protector. Trina says, yeah, but she’s not a little girl. Curtis doesn’t have to protect her; that doesn’t matter to her. He says, maybe not, but he kind of guesses that matters to Curtis.

Brook tells Cody that Gladys used to work as her assistant, and she agrees Gladys isn’t the best worker, but she still thinks Gladys has Sasha’s back. Why is he so suspicious of Gladys? He says, she sold Brando’s garage without telling Sasha, and she says, Sasha was initially upset, but then Gladys explained that there were just too many daily reminders… He says, no. That was just a cover story. Gladys cannot be trusted. She framed him for stealing that bracelet at the Nurses Ball. She says she can believe Gladys tried to frame him, but she’s been around long enough to know Gladys truly loves Sasha, and that’s good enough for her. She looks at her phone and says she’s been away from work long enough, and hiding from granny, so she’s got to go. She’ll see him later.

Austin come back and asks what Ava is doing. Those are patient files. They’re very private. She can’t do this. This he would have her arrested for. She says she doesn’t think so. Besides the dead guy doesn’t need privacy. But that’s the funny thing. Gordon Stevens is nowhere to be found in his files, which means he was never Austin’s patient at all. So start talking. Who was Gordon Stevens to him?

Ned says, so in Olivia’s wild days, before she got knocked up, what clubs did she used to hang out in? She says, that was a long time ago, and he says, she doesn’t remember the names of any of the clubs? She says, if it was happening, she and Lois were there. The Peppermint Lounge… Private Eyes, Hurrah, Area, of course (🍷) Studio 54, Xenon… She sighs, and Brook stands at the door. He asks how she got in. Did they have fake IDs? Olivia says, fake IDs. Those are for amateurs. She winks and says, they made friends with all the bouncers. He says, nice, and Brook smiles.

On the phone, Cody says he has a friend staying in their facility. He was hoping to get the visiting hours… Yes. Her name is Sasha Gilmore… His name? Cody Bell… What do they mean, he’s not on the list?… Did Sasha get to create her visitor’s list?… Of course (🍷) Gladys Corbin made the list. He thanks them.

Molly tells TJ that she was really torn about asking Kristina to donate an egg. Because at least the baby would be biologically related to her. He says, that makes sense, and she says, but after Kristina’s barging in earlier, she realized it would just make everything so much more fraught. Kristina would feel entitled to give her opinion on every parenting decision they made. He nods, and she says, because of that and a million other reasons, she thinks it would be better if they use the surrogate’s egg. He takes her hand and says, no matter what, she’s going to be the mom of their baby. She says she agrees. She’s feeling so much more confident after meeting with Clair. She’s going to find them the perfect woman to carry their baby. He nods, and she says, and to think a year from now their baby will be on this couch with them. He says, with them, and they kiss.

Josslyn says, Spencer actually has plans with Trina this afternoon, and Kristina says she does know her mom is out of town. She doesn’t think it would be a big deal for Esme to take the afternoon off. She’s sure Baby Ace would rather be outside in a park than cooped up in daycare. Spencer says, it is a beautiful day. So he thinks he’s going to catch up with Esme and his brother. He leaves, and Kristina tells Josslyn, sorry.

Trina says, if Dex were her, what would he do? and he says he would let Curtis know that he’s here for him, then he’d give him space. She says, so sitting here for hours isn’t the way to go? and he says he’ll walk her out.

Stella kisses Curtis on the top of the head and leaves. Curtis uncovers his legs and pokes at them and smacks them. He pounds on his thighs and cries.

Austin says, the next time Ava has a question for him, please just ask. Don’t go through his patients files. She says, fine, but did Mason force him to treat Gordon Stevens? He says, yes, and she asks if Mason had anything to do with Gordon confronting him in front of Nina and Sonny and everybody else at the Port Charles Grill. He says, hold on a second. Did she say something to Sonny? Did she talk to Sonny? She says she didn’t, and he says, Sonny already didn’t trust him and now that he’s got a dead patient in the alleyway, Sonny’s never going to let him around Avery again. Sonny’s going to… She says, Sonny’s not going to do anything. Because she told him that Austin helped her. He says, helped her what? Did she tell Sonny that she killed Nikolas?

Tomorrow, Willow says she’s glad Michael rescued her from it; Nina tells Kristina that she’ll help any way she can; Laura says, whatever she and Doc find, they face together; and Valentin asks Anna if she’s sure he wasn’t the target.
