What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

There was no Fear the Walking Dead tonight, and how will they ever top last week anyway? I was able to watch 90 Day Fiancé: Happily, Ever After? fresh (dissection of it coming soon), and Westworld on the first rerun encore performance. I also checked out The Real Housewives of Potomac, but I’m just not feeling these girls. I’m not sure I ever did. I think if you look up the definition of boushetto in the urban dictionary, their pictures are there. Although Karen did give up a good quote – You don’t know me to be a liar, but we do know you to be a fool.

And of course there’s the elephant in the room, Talking with Chris Hardwick, that was supposed to premiere tonight, but didn’t. That whole thing has bummed me out. I find it sad that, as beautiful a thing as the internet can be, it seems to create an easy judge and jury for just about everything. Maybe it’s just me, but I like getting all the facts first. The only fact I have so far is that he was possibly a d-bag and took advantage in a previous relationship. If people start losing their jobs over that, there will be precious few people working. Especially in the entertainment business where egos are humongous. In other words, I fail to see how this situation is anything close to that of a Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby, or even a Louis C.K. Yet this guy has already been hung out to dry. And the internet makes it way too easy. The Wicked Witch of the West said it best – what a world… what a world.

That being said, moving on…

🚀 Recommendations from the Wayback Machine…

Last week, I stepped back to the 70s with The Warriors, a surprisingly well-crafted film for its time, 1979. The scene symmetry and use of place are sophisticated, and the costumes alone make it worth watching, although the dialogue is often unintentionally funny. While completely unbelievable, the plot is simple. All the gangs in NYC are called to a meeting. One of the leaders suggests all the gangs band together, making them a force to be reckoned with. He’s shot and killed at the big rally, and the wrong gang, the Warriors, are blamed. They have to make it from Coney Island to the Bronx, various gangs coming after them along the way. One of my favorites were the Furies, who wore baseball uniforms and Kiss/Rocky Horror-ish make-up. It was also fun seeing Deborah Van Valkanburgh (Too Close for Comfort) acting like she was in a high school production of Grease. I’m endlessly glad they did not remake this film.

Check out the costumes: http://mentalfloss.com/article/55223/21-street-gangs-featured-warriors

Sadly, The Hills Have Eyes – the 1977 gem I followed The Warriors with – did get remade. It was horrifying all right, but not in a good way. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s just not the same without Michael Berryman. Forget Hills Have Eyes II, which is basically clips from the first film, strung together in a barely cohesive way. Stick with the original. Another straightforward plot. A family from Cleveland (which has never ceased to amuse me, since I’m originally from the area) get lost in the desert, and become the unfortunate victims of a feral family living in a cave. A true B-picture, a lot of it is over-the-top fake, but there are a few chills, a few laughs, and like I said, Michael Berryman.

🍹 I was sad to hear that Reagan and Jeff from Southern Charm New Orleans were splitting up. Who gets the little dogs??? http://extratv.com/2018/06/07/reality-stars-reagan-and-jeff-charleston-split/?adid=extra_eme_26606_2018-06-07_rightnow1

👔 Last But Not Least…

A heartfelt, albeit late, Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. No matter who or what you are the father of, be it blood relation or a chosen role. Here are some quotes for you:

https://parade.com/303081/viannguyen/fathers-day-2018-50-funny-and-inspiring-quotes-about-dads/?utm_source=paradenewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=homepage_newsletter_June%2017,%202018_08_44_15

🏆 It Takes Someone Special…

Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad, and that’s why I call you dad, because you are so special to me. You taught me the game and you taught me how to play it right.Wade Boggs

I was raised by my father most of my life. I’m part sailor, part farmer, part craftsman. I was taught I could be anything I wanted to be, but that I needed to work for it. Although he worked an eight to ten hour a day job, he never missed an awards ceremony or a school assembly where parents were invited. He always took time to listen, and was never less than fair. As he said about his own father, the older I got, the smarter my father got. I also realized that, even though it embarrassed me how we opened the refrigerator door with a screwdriver, everyone loved to gather at my house. They knew that no matter who they were, if they were my friends, they’d be welcomed with open arms and an open heart. He passed away shortly before I got married, and I’ll miss him until we meet again.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Anna tells Finn that it’s a lot with him. He doesn’t envy carrying a lifetime of secrets. He asks if there’s any news in the search for Peter, but she’s starting to think they won’t find him.

Obrecht tells Peter that she’s not going to hurt him. She points out he has a fever, and he says his hand is infected. She tells him that’s the consequence of trying to escape. He begs her to help him. She says Faison came to kill him, but her son died in his place. Nathan’s death is the only reason he’s alive. He deserves to suffer. Nina walks in, and asks if Obrecht is trying to kill him.

Oscar and Drew discuss Oscar’s paper on The Stranger. Not my favorite book that I was forced to read in school. Oscar says he liked it after Drew explained it to him; the character was a stranger to himself. Drew says life doesn’t always make sense. Oscar says what doesn’t make sense is why his mom is on a camping trip with Julian.

Julian and Kim are lying in their sleeping bag. Julian says it’s terrific; who knew? He’s enjoying their leisurely afternoon. They kiss. Julian asks if she happened to pack anything for bug bites, and she brings out an organic remedy, rubs iron his chest, and they kiss some more.

Carly asks Doc if it’s really him. He says it is, and she asks if he’s her doctor there. He tells her since Laura is in France, he’s been taking on extra work. He isn’t sure she should be there at all.

On the phone, Sonny says to tell his wife that he loves her. Mike is sorry Sonny couldn’t talk to her. Sonny says, him too. Mike thought the ride in the Bel Air would take his mind off of it. Sonny says it was a good idea, and Mike says so was letting him take a spin around the lot. It’s the first time he’s felt like himself since the party. He’s a goner for that car got. It’s got a big trunk; functional, and big enough for a body.

Carly tells Doc that she doesn’t belong there. He says it seems harsh, and he didn’t think she was ill enough to be there. She tells him that Nelle is a liar, and set her up. He says he and Carly only met one time, but she showed no symptoms of a full blown mental disorder.

Mike talks about Sonny, and how angry he was when he was younger. He was dumb in way only a young man could be dumb. Throwing his life away, listening to that hood. Sonny asks if he’s talking about Skully. Mike says Skully saw potential, and wanted Sonny under his thumb. He wanted something to hold over Sonny’s head, and he walked into it, thinking knew everything. Good thing his old man was there. Sonny asks what he’s talking about, and Mike asks if that isn’t why he let Mike drive the car around. He owed Mike a favor. Sonny is like, what?

Julian feels something crawling in the sleeping bag. He says, what the hell is it? and jumps out of the sleeping bag, and Kim laughs.

Drew asks Oscar if Julian did something he needs to know about. Besides his lifetime of criminal acts. Oscar can’t believe his mom is dating an ex-con. Drew says Oscar is dating someone whose stepfather has his own reputation, but Oscar says that’s different. She’s not responsible for what her stepfather does. Drew says they all want the happy family where everyone gets along, but it’s not always like that. Great families come in different packages. Oscar wishes Drew could remember his life. Drew does too. Oscar asks if he’ll ever get it back, and Drew says he was trying, but decided against it. Oscar asks, why, and Drew says, because of him.

Peter begs Nina to help him. Nina asks Obrecht what’s wrong with her? She used to be a doctor. What happened to do no harm? Obrecht says Peter cared nothing for her son’s well-being. He was cavalier about Nathan’s life, and so she is with his. Nina says she ran into Curtis and Sam. They’ve been hired by the PCPD to find Peter, and were asking her questions. They needed her to distract Valentin so they could search Wyndemere. They think Valentin was part of the jail break; another reason for divorcing him. Peter asks if they found anything, and she says, no. Obrecht says, and they won’t. Peter asks for water. Nina gives him some, and he tells her that his wound is infected, and he’s going to die there. He asks her to please help him.

Finn finds Anna in his office. She asks how his day is, and he says, no one died; that’s always a plus. She wanted to see him before she headed home. She has to wait for word from Robert about the search for Peter. He says she could do that there. He has a light schedule. She says she can’t bear to play any more games. Does he want her to stay? Because she wants to. They kiss.

Oscar says he’s the reason Drew doesn’t want his memories back? Drew says that didn’t come out right. There are risks. The procedure has never been done, and he could end up not remembering himself and the people he loves in this town, including Oscar and his sister. He’d love to remember who he used to be, but it’s not worth losing the past five years, and possibly being a vegetable. He can’t imagine not knowing Oscar and Scout. Someone else’s past might be inside him, but the future is his, and he wants to share it with Oscar. He tells Oscar that he’ll always have a father.

Nina tells Obrecht that Peter needs antibiotics. Obrecht says he’ll survive without them – probably. Nina says if she wants a confession, he’ll be no use if he’ dead. Obrecht says they want justice, but Nina says, not this way. Nathan wouldn’t want him to die. She tells Obrecht to get antibiotics for him, or she’s calling 911. Obrecht leaves, and Peter thanks her. She says she did it for herself; she doesn’t want to be an accessory to murder. He says she’s being pulled into a sick game in which they’re both pawns. His father used Peter for his own purposes, like Obrecht is using her. She has a backbone, and a moral code. She’s better than this. She’s not cruel, and can fix this. She can save his life.

Mike asks Sonny to spike the coffee; he’s losing his Bel Air buzz. Sonny owes him that; it’s the least he can do. Mike says he didn’t mean that how it sounded. Driving the car swelled his head. Sonny doesn’t owe him anything. He abandoned Sonny and his mother, and left them to that bastard Deke. He should have done better. There were times he tried; not often enough, but he tried to watch out for Sonny.

I’m not sure what was in the sleeping bag, but Kim says the little guy was traumatized. He’ll be okay though. Julian says, he’s not coming back, is he? He thinks his appreciation for nature doesn’t go much farther than deck chairs. She says she’s trying to expand his horizons, and suggests they do to the watering hole. He asks if by watering hole, she means a bar, but she says, no, an actual watering hole. She says they can go skinny dipping. He says, just what he wanted, nothing between him and the critters. He tells her despite the bug bites and maneuvering to make love, he’s actually having fun. She says they’re just getting started.

Drew tells Oscar that when he dropped off the info on the award’s ceremony, all the doubts and warnings solidified, and he realized what he was risking If it didn’t work. He’s glad he took the safe path. Oscar apologizes for talking about his past; that doesn’t mean he wants Drew to be different. He likes him the way he is. Drew calls him a helluva kid.

Nina says Peter came into her family’s life, masquerading as a good guy. He watched her brother die in his place. Peter says it’s not his fault, and she says that’s one thing she and Obrecht agree on. Faison came for him, and her brother was collateral damage. He knows she’s blinded by grief, but hurting him won’t bring her brother back. It’s not worth her own life. She could go to prison, and if he dies, she be away a long time. Charlotte loves her, and Maxie needs her. Doesn’t she care about them? They need her in their lives. Let him go.

Obrecht sneaks around the hospital.

Anna tells Finn that there’s something special about today, and he’ll be the first person she’s told. He asks what’s important about today, and she says today is her son’s birthday. Obrecht overhears.

Doc gives Carly water. She explains that she only went to him because Sonny insisted, thinking she was affected by her grief over Morgan. Doc asks if she thinks it’s more than that. She says she’d like to think somehow, some way, her baby was coming back to her. She thought the medication was working. Doc says he clearly misread her condition. Had he worked harder to get her to continue the sessions, it might be different now. They have to establish trust. He tells her that he can get her a different psychiatrist.

Sonny tries to talk to Mike about the Yankees, and Mike says Sonny doesn’t believe him. Sonny believes he tried, but Mike says Sonny thinks he’s always been too busy chasing the next sure thing. Sonny says every time they get into this, it goes south. Mike says he was a rotten father in most respects, but he managed to watch out for Sonny when it counted, whether he knows it or not.

Nina calls Peter a liar and a viper, who slithered into her family’s life, and if he hadn’t, her brother would still be alive. Peter days he’s sorry. He thought he could handle his father, and lost control of the situation. He hates the way it turned out. He was unconscious when Nathan was shot. He was wearing a bulletproof vest, but still got knocked out. By the time he got up, it was too late. He tried to make amends by helping Maxie, and Nina. She doesn’t care. He says he’s not a monster. The WSB wants to make him a scapegoat for his father’s crimes. He could have taken off with no second thought, and been on a plane, long gone. But he had to write a note to Maxie, and return the flash drive to Drew. Nina says, what? and he asks if it worked. Did Andre restore Drew’s memories?

Oscar wants fried everything. His mother insists on a vegetable that’s not fried at meals, since he argued that French fries were a vegetable. While Oscar puts in the order, Kim calls his phone. Drew picks up, and she asks if everything is okay. He says Oscar is ordering lunch, and he’s been apprised of the vegetable rule. He thinks spending time together is bringing them closer. He asks how camping is going, and if Julian has been eaten by a bear yet. Kim says, no bears yet, and says to give Oscar her love. Julian is now concerned about bears.

Carly asks Doc if he’s kidding. He’s the first face she’s seen that’s not a nightmare. Mary Pat is a sadist, and her orderly isn’t much better. She’s on so many meds, it’s absurd. Doc says that’s no good. Carly says Mary Pat is using medication to control the patients. She was handling things until they put her on the pills. She asks if he can help her get out.

Mike says he saw Sonny fall in with the hoods. He got scared, so he stepped up his game, keeping closer tabs on him, to keep him from getting in trouble. Sonny asks if he talked to someone about his first real job with Skully. Mike says he knew a guy who knew what Skully was planning. He couldn’t stop him; he would have laughed if Mike tried. He figured out a way to save him from the consequences.

Anna tells Finn it’s weird to share things when you haven’t before. Today is her son’s birthday. He says it must be painful. She says she dreaded it. Sometimes she’d sit in the dark, thinking and remembering . Finn tells her that she can talk as little or as much as she wants. She says when she finally told Robert, He was sorry he hadn’t made her feel safe enough to confide in him. What if she had told him? Everything would be different. Finn says at meetings, they say, no if onlys. Regret only compounds the pain. Anna takes his hand, and wonders what she’s supposed to do. Finn suggests starting small, and changing one little thing about her life. He thinks he has idea how to make that happen.

Oscar asks if Drew minds not knowing who he used to be, and Drew says he’s tried to make peace with it. He doesn’t understand the science behind it, but there’s a flash drive with his memories on it. Supposedly Peter had it, but he must have taken it with him. He supposes if the police find him, they’ll find that too. He asks if Oscar is cool with things as they are.

On the phone with Nina and in the woods, Obrecht says she’s traveled a significant distance on the trail. It’s crowded with people who have too much time on their hands. She has the medicine. Nina tells her the aspirin brought Peter’s fever down, but he needs antibiotics for the infection. Obrecht says she has what they need. She overheard int news about their friend. Obrecht nearly walks past Julian. He introduces her to Kim, saying she must have a bunker of victims close by, since she’s not the outdoor type. Nah, just one.

Nina tells Peter that Obrecht is coming back with his medicine. Peter says she’s going to kill him, but Nina says she wouldn’t be bringing back the medicine if she was. Good point. Her bark is worse than her bite. Peter asks if she barked at his arm. She thinks he’s a bad person, but he’s trying to make amends. He knows she’s heard about the flash drive. He has it, and tried to barter, offering it to Drew in exchange for his help breaking him out. Drew turned him down, but he had the drive in his hand. It was the last thing he remembers. He must have dropped it, and thought someone would figure out what it is. Everything Drew needs to be man he used to be is on it. He asks Nina to let him go. She says she’s going to check. If his story is true, it’s a game changer. She leaves.

Sonny asks why Mike didn’t tell him before, and Mike says it didn’t feel right. Everything had been off for a while, but driving the Bel Air cleared everything up. Sonny asks Mike to tell him everything he knows about Croton. Mike says he took care of the problem with Skully. He knows about how Sonny drove to Croton, and buried the loudmouth with the money clip. He followed Sonny. He saw him dig the hole and walk away thinking it was over, but he thought wrong.

Finn brings Anna a stack of waffles with whipped cream on top. She says it’s not what she was expecting. He says someone is always having a birthday, and explains how he’s adept at avoiding the gatherings where there’s spit on cake. She’s marking her son’s birthday, and their changing what happens on this day. She says, with birthday waffles? Finn says he was born in Belgium, and lights a candle. He tells her to make a wish for her son. She’s sorry for not giving him the life he should have had; for the life he could have lived. More than anything, she wishes he’s safe. She blows out the candle.

Peter hears something, and says, what is that?

Obrecht tells Julian, as the Americans put it, she’s taking me time. She’s mourning her son in her own way. Kim says she’s sorry for her loss, and Julian tells her not to step on any rattlesnakes and get herself killed.

Peter asks again, what is that? It’s a rattlesnake on the bed. He screams.

Drew tells Oscar it would be great to remember what fifteen was like, and he could offer actual advice, but sometimes you have to learn to let go and move forward. He feels better knowing he made peace with it. Oscar says, him too. Josslyn is meeting him at the library, and he has to leave. Drew says because of him, he knows every fried thing on the menu now. He says they don’t have to wait until his mom’s next camping trip to get together.

Obrecht tells Julian there are no rattlesnakes there; look it up. (I did, and they’re very rare.) She says, no one in their right mind would be spending time in the woods. They hear Peter screaming.

Nina sees Drew, and says she was destined to run into him. He asks what’s on her mind?

Doc tells Carly his goal is to help her heal and get back to her life. He says someone overstepped. Carly doesn’t think she’ll last long in there. Doc says it will take as long as it takes, but he’ll be there with her every step of the way. She takes his hand.

Mike tells Sonny that he was in the field in Croton when he buried the body. Sonny says he and Jason were there for hours, digging. They found a money clip, but no body. Mike knows. He took it.

On Monday, Nina is not okay, Maxie asks Lulu if there are any new leads, Sonny needs to get on with his life, and Kim says someone is in terrible trouble.

Just a thought. Is Carly really seeing Doc?

💍 Re: 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? or as I’m calling it now, You Deserve Each Other, I can never decide who is worse. It’s like asking someone which child is their favorite. I have decided that Juan’s problem is he’s never going to have a real relationship, and wants to drag Paola into loneliness with him. Still in Columbia, Pao tried to get Russ and Juan to mend fences, but no way was Juan letting that happen. After meeting at a club, Russ started the evening off by asking Juan not to ruin things, since they were doing this for Pao. Juan took offense, and responded by surreptitiously giving Russ the finger, like any other fourteen-year-old would. Pao told Russ later that he used the wrong choice of words, but why should he walk on eggshells around this mean queen? As usual, totally disregarding the fact they’re married and Pao wants to have a baby with this man, Juan told Pao if she left with Russ, he never wanted to see her again. He and Russ almost got in a fistfight outside the club, but I wasn’t positive how much of that hold-me-back wasn’t just posing.

On to David’s horrifying daughter, Ashley. What a selfish, nasty a-hole she is. I get that David is a disappointment as a father – he’s not what you’d call a go-getter – but this woman needs to calm down. They met for what was supposed to be a meal to discuss keeping the peace, but it wasn’t long before she was going up one side and down the other, about everything from him getting a job to him choosing his young wife – who, she pointed out, could leave him at any time – over his family. She insisted she hadn’t tried to break them up, which was a complete lie. The poor guy looked like a deer in the headlights while she babbled on incessantly, and told him that he never lets anyone get a word in edgewise. Sadly, David’s son Jacob was accidentally shot in the face by a friend, and was awaiting surgery. There was a sweet moment where Annie made a promise to pray for his healing, and she tied a triple string on him per her culture. It was cool. Annie is probably the only decent person on this show.

Which brings me to the family Chantel, as Pedro calls them. Wtf, these people? I can’t tell if they’re just uncomfortable talking or they’re bad actors doing improv. Apparently, Pedro had too much wine, and told them he was going back to the DR to start a business. They got the impression it was permanently, and without Chantel. When confronted, Pedro changed that to a couple of weeks, and he’d be back. The business part remained a mystery, but according to Chantel’s mother, Mrs. Pedro’s Mother was running some kind of marriage ring, using her legal skills. Pedro video-chatted with his shrew of a sister who said they were idiots. Since Chantel’s parents are having the family Pedro investigated, hopefully they’ll get busted for something. I was disappointed when, making an American dinner for Pedro, the family Chantel didn’t leave the feet on the Cornish hen, and tell him that’s how we eat it here. Whose family is creepier? I don’t know.

Not much to say about Molly and Luis. Luis made it pretty clear that he wasn’t up to step-fathering duties, and Molly got to thinking he wasn’t the partner she’d hoped for. She lives in a dream world if she thought this dude was ever going to be a father to her kids and enjoy life in Georgia. To give him credit, he’s been honest about that all along. His attitude seems to be, she’s as good a wife as any, but he misses the club, the beaches, and, oh God, the food.

Anfisa and Jorge went to counseling, but, although more cheerful, Jorge is still his hesitant lump of a self, who has problems telling the truth. The counselor suggested Jorge uses lying as a way to control Anfisa’s feelings, which I thought was quite insightful. Anfisa said Jorge had inflicted a lot of emotional pain, and she wasn’t so sure he wanted to have a family with her. Once again, the topic of why was taboo. Was she a hooker? Worked at Chernobyl? What? Anfisa met Jorge’s good friend, Ramone, who was on his best behavior. Anfisa was spot-on though, saying in her interview that Ramone wasn’t being himself. Not that he’s a bad guy normally, but she was right.

Nicole’s grandpa was also right when he flat-out told her that she was being stupid, getting involved with Azan. He pointed out how very much money she’d given him. In reply, she stuck her fingers in her ears, and went ♫ La-la-la! ♫ Not really, but she might as well have. Grandpa said in the two years she’d known him, Azan had never even had a job. She was trying to buy his affection, and by the way, he didn’t see any on Azan’s end. At least someone is telling it like it is. The new plan is for them to marry in Morocco. Supposedly, the groom’s family is picking up the tab, which I find hard to believe if she had to send him money. Nicole explained there are six costume changes at Moroccan weddings, one of which is allowed to be an American wedding dress. Her mother came along when she tried on dresses, and Nicole whined until her mother agreed she loved the same dress Nicole did. My take on this chick is that she’s totally delusional. Not only was that dress just no, grandpa was correct right across the board. What’s sad is how she’s been placated by her mother and father, who were afraid all along that she’d skip to Morocco with her daughter, which is exactly what’s happening.

June 8, 2018 – Jason Wants Carly to Fire Diane, a Trick, a Shock, PentaQuotal & Enter You

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Griff takes the stand and swears to tell the truth. Diane says he’s their star witness, but if Jason doesn’t show, it’s going to be difficult. Sonny asks, how so?

Curtis and Jordan meet for a drink. He takes it things didn’t go well with the mayor. She says there’s rumbling that she might be asked to step down. He asks how long she’s been given to find Peter, and she says, not long enough.

Alexis goes to Monica’s office. She tells Monica that she knows Kiki made accusations about a senior doctor on the staff. Monica can’t discuss it, but Alexis says Kiki is going public. So she can wait, and discuss it with the press, or avoid a lawsuit, and discuss it with her right now.

There’s a knock at Anna’s hotel room door. It’s Finn. He senses things didn’t go well. She says Robin is the last person to judge, but things have changed. Finn asks how, and she says, how could they not?

Diane asks how Griff knows Carly, and he says he treated her husband for paralysis. He also treated Carly last April. Diane asks why she sought him out, and he says she was having hallucinations. Jason walks in.

In the hallway, Michael brings Nelle some water, and asks how she’s feeling. She says, better, and thinks they should go back inside. He doesn’t think it’s a good idea; it seems too stressful for her. He insists she go home, but she wants to be there for him. He says he’ll be fine; he’s not putting it on her. She says the truth is, she doesn’t want to go home alone. The first thing she sees us the stairs. She asks him to please come with her, and he says, sure.

Diane asks how Carly described the hallucinations. He says she never described them as hallucinations. She believed they were real. She received several calls; in one, she heard a young man, and in another, she heard an explosion. She asks what it indicated to him, and he explains that her son, Morgan, was killed in an auto explosion.

Anna tells Finn that Robin was horrified to find out she had a child with Faison. She didn’t judge or criticize; she had empathy for the young woman Anna was, and the choices she made. Robin was fair, but Anna can’t help feeling that something between them is irrevocably lost. Finn thinks that’s harsh, but Anna says Robin didn’t know who she was. She guesses no one did.

Monica asks Alexis what Kiki hopes to get; is it the money? Alexis says she doesn’t care about that. She wants justice. Frankly, she’d like to know why such a progressive hospital has such antiquated policies on sexual harassment. Monica admits they’re skewed in favor of the accused. David has a sterling reputation and an unblemished record, and he was cleared. Alexis says, and Kiki gets to go back to work with her harasser after he demoralized her.

Jordan tells Curtis that no one spotted Peter leaving Port Charles, and there hasn’t been one sign of him. Curtis asks if she thinks he’s still there. She says, of course. It’s not the first time he’d be hiding in plain sight. No one wants to find him more than she does, and she’s not losing her job over Peter.

Griff talks about the break-in, and how Carly found the picture. She told him she felt a presence, and Diane asks if he means like a spiritual presence. The DA objects, asking if Diane expects the court to believe in ghosts. Diane says Griff can speak to the state of her client’s mind. She asks if Carly believed she was haunted. He says the thought came to her. He gave her a thorough exam, and ran tests. There was nothing indicating trauma, injury, or disease of the brain, so he referred her to Doc.

Doc takes the stand. He says when Carly came to him, he saw she had a history of psychiatric disorders, and was hospitalized twice. Diane asks if he prescribed anything, and he says anti-anxiety medication. She asks about side effects, and he says in rare instances, there’s erratic behavior. Diane asks if it could have possible exacerbated the symptoms of whatever disorder she’s suffering from. He says, possibly, and she asks if Carly is suffering from mental illness. He hasn’t been treating her long enough to diagnose her, but thinks she has an anxiety disorder that alters her perception of reality. Diane asks if it could cause her to take physical action without understanding the consequences.

Anna tells Finn in every relationship in her adult life, even Robin, she’s been keeping a secret; holding back part of her soul. No one could know her. She didn’t want to know herself. Finn says she did the best she could at the time. She was young, and void of the perspective she has now. She thinks Robin understands intellectually, but emotionally… She tells him about how Robin said the tears in her eyes while holding Robin’s children, might have been for the child she gave up. The secret she kept colored every memory and moment.

The DA says Carly has been institutionalized twice. She asks Doc if Carly mentioned shooting Tony Jones in the courtroom. Diane objects, but the judge allows it. The DA says she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Doc says she was, and the DA asks what happened as a result. He says she was institutionalized, and the DA says, barring a prison term. Diane objects again. Doc says the second time, it was voluntary, and the judge asks the DA to move on. She says Doc testified that he hadn’t seen her long enough to diagnose her; why? He says she canceled her follow-up, and didn’t return. She asks if he didn’t think she needed therapy or didn’t think it was serious. Diane’s objection is sustained, and the DA has no further questions. Jason tells Carly to stop this right now.

Monica tells Alexis that she’d like to see Kiki vindicated, and Alexis says it’s going to take some time. Monica thinks until then, there’s something she can do to help her.

Nelle walks in on Michael struggling to put a crib together. He says he was hoping to surprise her, but he has his work cut out for him. They do an impromptu ad and some serious product placement for Snoo. She says she can help, but he says she’s still exhausted, and should treat herself to a nap. He’ll be done when wakes up – hopefully. As soon as she’s gone, he calls Spinelli. He says Nelle just buried his mom in court. He needs proof that Nelle set her up.

Sonny tells Jason that he hates it too, but there’s no choice. Jason insists there is. Chase is on the stand, and Diane asks if he found any evidence of a break-in. He says there was no sign of forced entry or anything suspicious. Carly was agitated, saying the lights had been flickering, and she heard strange noises. He explained the picture probably fell in the earthquake, and chalked it up to an overactive imagination. Diane asks about his second encounter with Carly. He says he found her at Morgan’s grave. Diane says, besides being a lone woman in the cemetery at night, was there anything unusual about her behavior? He says she was emotional. She said she received a message for Morgan to meet her at the cemetery; more specifically, where she left him. She said the message was on the back of a flyer for a noodle house, but when she showed it to him, it was blank. Diane asks if there was anything else, and Chase says Carly referenced her son’s cologne. Diane asks if he can remember her exact words, and he says she asked if Chase could smell his cologne like she could. On cross-examination, the DA says, as a detective, he’s trained to recognize signs of emotional trauma, did she exhibit any? He says yes, and the DA asks if he transferred her to a hospital, but he thought she didn’t require hospitalization. The defense calls Michael Corinthos Jr. to the stand, and I get confused when Sonny gets up, forgetting that’s his real name.

Anna tells Finn that Robin is definitely full of compassion, but it’s a question of trust. She broke it. The look in Robin’s eyes was painful to see. She said she loved Anna, but it felt like she was saying goodbye. Finn says, she wasn’t; she’s just getting her bearings. She says she knows how toxic secrets can be. She didn’t want to be judged, and pushed him away; she underestimated him. Finn says he’s not that noble. He hasn’t been entirely forthcoming about his family or past. She asks if he wants to talk.

Sonny says after Morgan was killed, it shook the family to the core. It took a year, but they were finally stable. Then his father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moved in. He got caught up with that, and didn’t see Carly sliding. Diane asks what he means, and he says he found out she’d been imagining their son was trying to reach out to her. She asks if he’s referring to the incidents already referenced, and he says, yes, but he hadn’t known they’d occurred. She believed it was Morgan, and there’s nothing more he’d want than see their son, but he never expected what happened. Diane asks what he attributes her hallucinations to, and the DA objects, but the judge allows Sonny to continue. He says, in her sorrow, she hasn’t come to the realization that her son is gone. Diane asks if he was afraid of what she might do. He says, not afraid, but worried at times. Diane asks if one of those times was before Nelle’s shower.

Monica tells Alexis that she can’t overturn the investigation without cause, but she can still do everything in her power to keep Kiki out of David’s orbit. Alexis appreciates the effort, but it’s not enough for Kiki.

Spinelli gives Michael instructions on how to log on to Nelle’s laptop. As he’s messing with it, Nelle appears, and asks what he’s doing.

Diane asks Sonny what Carly’s demeanor was like before the incident. He makes it clear that he doesn’t trust Nelle, but Carly saw a double meaning in everything Nelle said, and took it as a threat to her family, especially her son Michael. Diane asks what could happen because of her antipathy toward Nelle, and he says she didn’t want to lose another child. She didn’t want to push it, or… Diane says, what? She’d lose control? That’s exactly what happened. Sonny agrees. It’s the DA’s turn, and she says he has ties to organized crime. Diane objects, and Sonny tells the judge that he’s a coffee importer. I literally lol, and the objection is sustained. The judge says the DA knows better. The DA asks if Sonny felt guilty when he allowed Nelle to come between him and his wife, and he says they sorted it out. Nelle lied, nothing happened; it’s not a crime. The DA says, it’s the cover up, and rephrases. She asks if he didn’t lie to cover it up. He says his wife was already at the breaking point. He didn’t want to push her over the edge. The DA says he lied to help his wife. Is that what he’s doing now? Diane objects, saying it’s argumentative. The judge asks them to approach the bench for a refresher course in proper procedure. Jason tells Carly to fire Diane. The judge will declare a mistrial, and they can buy some time.

Finn says, while Anna was with Robin, he ran into his father. She asks if he lives there, and if they arranged to meet, and Finn says, yes and hell no. He hasn’t seen his father in twenty years. He took his mom’s maiden name after his father remarried. He’s a fast worked. Finn was still cleaning out his mom’s things when his brother was born. It was hard, and he just wanted to get away from everything. Him, her, and his brother.

Jordan tells Curtis, when the search for Peter is over, she’s going to revamp the PCPD. It’s time to sharpen her police force. He says, if anyone can do it, she can, but what about in the meantime?

Michael says, wish us luck, on the phone, and tells Nelle that he was getting coaching on the Snoo assembly. She asks why he’s on her computer. He says he was trying to access the website, and couldn’t log in. That explains it; the computer isn’t his. He was about to call IT. Please don’t tell me that she’s not smart enough to see the panic on his face. He asks why she’s not napping, and she says she forgot her key. Maybe he should be doing the resting. He says he’s feeling the pressure a little. It’s the baby’s first bed, and he wants it to be perfect.

Alexis stops by Doc’s office. She knows she needs to make an appointment, but was there for a meeting. She says it turns out, the thing with her father was getting to her more than she thought it would.

Carly is surprised at Jason wanting her to fire Diane. He says she’s strong enough to stay in Pentonville until he can find proof. Diane will understand. Diane appears, and says, no, she won’t understand. He’s bordering on witness tampering. Carly needs to decide in five seconds. Does she want to go back for a new trial, that could take months, or see this through?

Finn tells Anna that his father was a middle-aged cliché. None of it was Chase’s fault. Burying his wife one month, and marrying a younger wife the next; he wanted to block it out. Chase seems like a decent guy, but he wants something Finn can’t give him. They’re brothers in name only; they’re more like strangers. Anna says Chase seems like more than a stranger, or is there something she’s missing?

Alexis explains to Doc that Valentin found the artifacts. He asks why she hasn’t opened it. Does she not trust Valentin? She says she thinks she doesn’t want to know after all. Doc says Mikkos is dead. He has no control over her unless she gives it to him. She’s acting out of fear. She asks if he thinks she should open it; it might bring a wave of chaos. He says, maybe not. They’ll deal with it together.

Sonny thinks Mike’s arrest might never have happened if Carly was in her right mind. The DA asks why Carly neglected him, and Sonny says she didn’t neglect anything. She was following the note. No one else could see her grief; it broke her. She doesn’t need prison; she needs help. Diane calls Jason to the stand. Sonny looks at him as they walk past each other, changing places.

Curtis tells Jordan if her usual search channels aren’t panning out, try something unusual. She says, he’s hired. He says, we’re hired. He has a new partner – Sam.

Monica comes home, and asks Nelle how court was. She says, rough, having to relive the events. Michael says he hopes his mom gets the help he needs, but his main focus is Nelle and the baby. Monica looks at the bed he’s trying to put together. She says she’s a surgeon, and has put together more complicated things.

Jason says Carly described the phone calls to him, and how she heard an explosion. Diane asks if she seemed upset, and he says, no, worried.  Dante traced the calls to a pay phone on Angel’s Bluff, near where Morgan was killed. They went to the pay phone, accompanied by Detective Falconari. Diane asks if there was any evidence of a recent explosion, and Jason says, no. She asks if Carly reconsidered, thinking maybe she’d heard something else. He says, no; she was sure it was an explosion. Moving on to the scarf, Diane asks if Jason saw it. He didn’t, and she asks if there was an attempt to find it and if it was recovered, and it wasn’t, although he looked. She asks if Carly was upset, and Jason says, yeah; she said it brought back the pain of losing Morgan. Diane asks if Carly was hopeful that Morgan was still alive, and would come back someday. He says she was, and Diane moves on to the break-in. She asks if Jason has experience with security systems, and he says he does. Diane ask if when he checked the house, there was any evidence of a break-in or intruder, and he says, no. She asks if Carly showed him the broken picture, and when he says she did, Diane asks if he was there when she found it. He says, no, and she confirms that he only had Carly’s word. No further questions.

The DA wants to make sure she understands. Carly told Jason about the calls before she told her husband. Jason says, yes, and the DA says, and the scarf? She asks when Carly told her husband, and Jason says the night of the break-in. The DA says, in all that time, her husband never noticed anything wrong, or expressed concern that something was bothering her? Jason says, at the same time, his father had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and she says, so he was distracted. Did Jason think something was wrong with Carly?

Finn tells Anna, enough sordid family history for one afternoon. She thanks him for sharing what he did. She likes getting to know him better. He says, likewise. He’s been meaning to apologize about something. When he said she was one step away from a bathrobe and a cat, he didn’t mean it. He’s about to leave, and she asks him to wait.

In the hospital corridor, Alexis looks at the envelope some more. She tells herself she’s being ridiculous, and opens it. There’s a watch inside, and she looks surprised.

The Snoo has been built, and Monica says, they psyched themselves out; it’s actually easy to assemble. Drew comes in with his luggage. Monica asks if that means what she thinks it does. He says, if the offer still stands, and she says, welcome home, son.

Jordan tells Curtis that he’s on the clock. Find Henrik.

Jason says he could see Carly was in a lot of pain and hurting. The DA says, other than her husband, is he Carly’s closest friend; does he know her better than anyone? He says, yes, and she ask if he can swear his best friend was insane when she assaulted Nelle.

On Monday, Anna asks Finn to stay, Nelle tells Michael his bitch mother got what she deserves, and Jason can’t answer the question.

🌈 Let Your Flag Fly…

My film recommendation for Pride month is Trick. I stumbled upon Trick by accident, when it aired on the Logo network. The title is somewhat misleading. It makes the movie sound like Cruising, but it’s really a sweet comedy. Gabriel (Christian Campbell) is trying to get his musical off the ground, and he’s also trying to get some alone time with his date, Mark (John Paul Pitoc). Gabe’s best friend is Katherine, played by Tori Spelling, who is surprisingly good, gives one of the funniest monologues in a diner ever. The title song to Gabe’s musical, Enter, You, might be stuck in your head for a while, but it’s not a bad thing. It’s rarely on television, but it’s on DVD and possibly On Demand. Whatever way you can find it, it’s worth watching. It will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

I missed the first few minutes because, as usual, ABC had news that couldn’t wait an hour. At least it wasn’t the last minute. On a Friday. So without further ado, we join the show, already in progress…

Sonny visits Carly. He asks how she’s doing; he knows how bad it can be in jail. She tells him to focus on getting her out of there, and asks if there’s been any progress on her case. He tells her that Diane is working to get her out, but she says she’s not talking about the insanity plea. She means the proof that Nelle set her up.

Robert and Anna are combing Peter’s hotel room. Anna tells Robert the last thing on Peter’s mind is her. He took a big risk before, and now he’s on the run from the WSB; he’s not circling back for her. Robert says Peter hates her. He didn’t say it to be hurtful, but wants her to see the truth and protect herself. She says what happened wasn’t an accurate reflection. He saw her as an agent from the Bureau, and thought it was a trap. Of course he was angry. Robert says he wanted her and Jason to turn on each other. Jason walks in, and Robert says, again? If he keeps hanging around, Robert will have to put him on payroll. Jason asks if he can check room, and Robert gives his okay. Robert tells Anna that Jason is the reason Peter escaped. Anna says the camera footage was looped, and it’s Spinelli’s handiwork. He tells her that she’s not fooling anyone. She’s happy Peter escaped.

Peter is in Maxie’s room. He says he kept a horrible secret about who he is, but it’s still just him. He asks how the baby is, and says he can’t wait to see him. She thanks him for being her impromptu birthing coach. He says he’s glad to be the first person to welcome his nephew into the world. He looks more like his brother than him. Maxie says, brother? and he says he’s not Peter; he’s Henrik – surprise! Nina tells Maxie to wake up; she’s having a bad dream. Maxie says Peter was there, and held her hand. She let him hold her hand; what’s wrong with her? Nina tells her not to be hard on herself. Peter has been arrested. Maxie asks if he’s been sent to Siberia yet; the further, the better. Nina says that was the plan, but Peter escaped. No one knows where he is.

Peter is dragged into a cabin.

At the Quartermaine’s, Nelle tells Michael that she feels bad about what happened to his mom. Carly is in prison because of her. There will be a horrible, ugly trial, and everyone will be in their business. She never wanted that. She just wanted Carly to understand that she didn’t want to harm her. Michael says it’s obvious Carly had a breakdown, and he wants her to get help. She has plenty of people to worry about her, and his main focus is Nelle and the baby. Nelle says he’s so sweet to her. She’s glad he stayed in the room next to hers. She doesn’t sleep well, and it made her feel safe. He says she is safe. She’s happy he came back into her life.

Sonny tells Carly that they’ve found nothing. No scarf; no blanket; nothing that proves Nelle did anything. Carly says Nelle is lying, just like when she drugged Sonny. They should have gotten rid of her when they had the chance. Sonny says they need to talk about what’s going on now. Does she want to talk through glass to him for a few weeks, or for twenty-five years? He thinks it’s the best way out, and asks why she won’t take it. I’m confused; didn’t she?

Carly says she did what they wanted, and took the plea. That answers that question. Sonny says, but then she changed her mind, and had to be talked out of it in front of the judge. Carly says, in a perfect world, she would go to Shadybrook, but it’s not a perfect world, and too many things could go wrong.

Michael tells Nelle that he has to go. She says, of course; he has his own life. She tells him not to worry about her. She’s taken enough of his time. He says he meant he has to pack, since he’s moving back in. He’s going to be with her night and day.

Nina tells Maxie all she knows is that Peter is gone. They found Valentin locked in his cell. Maxie asks if Valentin is okay, and Nina says he’s been in worse situations. The WSB and the police force are looking for Peter. Maxie can’t believe she was friends with him, when Nina told her to back off. Nina says not to give her credit. She’d hired Curtis to investigate Peter, then talked herself out of it. The biggest thing was the scrapbook with Nathan’s mementos. She chastises herself, saying if she had been less trusting, Nathan might be here. Maxie wonders if she’s still talking about Peter, but Nina says, no. Someone knew, and did nothing to warn any of them.

Peter is tied to a bed. He wakes up, and wonders where he is. He struggles against the bonds, and remembers holding the flash drive in his hotel room.

Maxie asks Nina, who knew Peter was really Henrik? Nina apologizes, saying it was Valentin. Maxie asks when he found out. Nina says he’s apparently known since Peter was a baby. It’s a twisted story that doesn’t look good for anyone. He kept it quiet, trying to cover his own ass. Maxie thought he was trying to be a stand-up guy, and Nina says, she did too. It’s lie upon lie, and secrets, when comes to Valentin, and all of it stems back to Anna. Maxie asks what Anna has to do with Peter, and Nina says, Anna is Peter’s mother.

Anna tells Robert she is not happy. Peter is a fugitive now; a target for the WSB, and anyone else who thinks he’s a threat. She wants him to go through the proper channels, and be exonerated. Robert asks at what point she lost touch with reality? He was Faison’s accomplice. She says he was coerced. Robert says when Jason was held against his will, Peter wasn’t coerced, and he wasn’t coerced when he held a gun on her. In some respects, he’s worse than his father; who knows what he’ll do? She says you can’t convict him on what he might do. and there’s nothing to link him to anything. Robert asks her to remember when Robin was held prisoner, and they thought she was dead. He doesn’t recall her giving Jerry Jax or Faison the benefit of the doubt. Anna says he’s absolutely right; she has a double-standard. No matter how much Robert wishes it wasn’t true, Peter is her son.

Jason brings out a drawer, and shows Anna and Robert there was tape on the bottom. He thinks it’s where Peter hid the flash drive. He says it looks like Peter took off with it. Robert says, so much for making amends. He thanks Jason for his help, and for saving Anna’s life. If he hadn’t been there, Peter would have killed her. Jason is glad he was there too. He jets, and Anna asks if Robert is quite finished. He says, no, and neither is she. Now she’s got to tell Robin that she has a big brother.

Sonny tells Carly assumption can be a dark place; don’t go there. She says nothing has gone her way since the arrest. How will she convince her kids of her innocence, and get them to trust her again? By the time she gets back, Nelle will be firmly in place, and she’ll be an outsider.

Nelle says she doesn’t want to disrupt Michael’s life. It’s enough they’ve gotten closer. He says he wants to be there for her and the baby, and she tells him that’s the reason she never stopped loving him. Jason drops by, and asks if Michael can talk for minute about his mom. Nelle gives them some privacy. On her way out, Jason says he’s glad she and the baby are okay, and she makes a face like, yeah, right. Jason asks if Michael has talked to his mom, but he says not since the arraignment. Michael says she’s pleading guilty by reason of insanity. It’s what Diane wanted her to do, but it implies she pushed Nelle. Jason says that’s not what happened. Michael tells him Nelle said it did, and Jason asks if he believes her.

Anna says she has to figure out what to tell Robin, and Robert tells her to concentrate on that. Leave the search to the police and the WSB. Jordan comes in, and Robert shows her the bottom of the drawer, where the flash drive was. Anna says there’s no proof of it. Jordan says Peter left a letter for Maxie. Anna asks if she read it, and Jordan says it was a well-written plea for forgiveness. Well, he is a writer. Anna tells Robert to get on with it. Tell her how pathetic she is, thinking her son could be redeemed. He knows it’s tearing her up, but wringing her hands over Peter’s screwed up childhood doesn’t make him less accountable. Robin calls, and Robert says she doesn’t have to answer.

Peter wonders how he got there, and remembers the syringe stabbing him in the back. We see him letting go of the flash drive as he’s being dragged away. He calls out, asking if someone is there. He asks why they did this to him.

Nina tells Maxie that Anna did what she could to cover up her pregnancy. She gave the baby up for adoption, but Valentin found the family, made them give up the baby, and gave it to Faison. Maxie says it almost makes her feel sorry for Peter. Almost. Nina says one decision that Valentin made, destroyed so many lives. Maxie can’t process, and asks Nina what she’s going to do. Nina says divorce him. She’s not moving back; she’s moving ahead. Maxie knows something that might help; the antidote to all heartbreak. Deanna wheels James in. Maxie holds him, saying, James Malcom West, happy to meet you. Nina says, he’s absolutely perfect.

Sonny says it’s Carly’s word against Nelle’s, and Nelle wound up at the bottom of the stairs. Carly says she’ll do it, but she hates it. She wants to talk about something else, and asks how everybody is. Sonny is still trying to find a permanent caregiver for Mike, but Stella has been helping. Sonny thinks Stella likes Mike, and Carly says his dad is a charmer. She asks how Josslyn is, but Sonny hasn’t seen her much; she’s always with Oscar, volleyball, and school. Carly says, she’s doing it on purpose. She suggests Sonny find something to do with Josslyn and Avery. Sonny says Josslyn might be confused and angry, but she’s Carly’s daughter, and loyal to the core. Josslyn loves her. Michael texted that the baby is fine, and Nelle is back at the Quartermaine’s; she’s been released from the hospital. He hesitates, and says Michael also moved back in, to be close to her and the baby. Carly says, Nelle got what she wanted. Sonny says, for now, not forever. She asks if he’s sure about that. He tells her to get through the trial and Shadybrook; then deal with what she needs to. She says she’s going to do more than that. She’s going to expose Nelle for the lying snake she is. By the time she’s through, Nelle will be out on the street.

Jason tells Michael that Carly would never harm her grandchild. Michael knows he’s loyal, but he needs to take care of his family, and put them first. Jason isn’t going to argue with him, but tells him to be careful. Michael says he always is, and I laugh, because he wasn’t when he got Nelle pregnant. Jason leaves, and Nelle ducks down behind something when he walks past. She tells Michael that she couldn’t help but overhear. He said he was putting his family first. He says he meant her and baby, and tells her to go get some rest. He’s going to pack, but he’s coming right back. He’s not letting her out of his sight. Yeah, we know something’s up with this guy.

Nina says James is the most beautiful baby ever. He’s the perfect tribute to Nathan. Maxie says he looks like Nathan already. She can’t wait to watch him grow up, and look more and more like his dad. Nina says, it will be amazing. She remembers when her mom brought Nathan home. She let Nina hold him, and when she looked into his eyes, she fell in love; unconditional love. He taught her something powerful in life. Maxie asks if she wants to hold her nephew, and transfers the baby to Nina’s arms. She tells him that this is Aunt Nina, and says, he’s a heartbreaker.

Anna is on the phone with Robin. She says it was a big shock to find out Peter is Henrik. Robert’s phone rings. Anna tells Robin, for starters, Peter is missing. There are no leads yet, but everyone is on the case. She thinks it would be better to answer Robin’s questions in person. She’s taking the next flight out, and will be with her today; she’ll call when she lands. She tells Robin to never doubt she loves her. After she’s done, she tells Robert that she’s taking the next flight out. He wishes he could go, but the Bureau wants him to sort this mess out. She hopes they’re not too hard on him. He says he can handle it, but has a word of advice. She’s been Robin’s hero her whole life, but this will throw her for a loop. He says to give her space. Don’t crowd her; let her process, and figure it out. He says, she’s a prickly little thing; she gets it from him. He knows she wants Peter’s forgiveness, but don’t mention it to Robin. Let it be about her, and her needs; and what will help her. Not Anna’s guilt over Peter.

Nina knows what Maxie is thinking, and tells her it’s okay to say it. Maxie says Nathan should be there to hold his son. Imagine how over the moon he’d be. Nina thinks he knows. He knows this beautiful baby will never want for love. Nina tells Maxie that she knows she can be overbearing with love, and Maxie tells her to overbear away. She’s welcome in their lives day and night and in between. Nina tells the baby that Maxie may regret it.

Robert tells Anna that a lot of people love and depend on her, present company included. He tells her to stay safe, and tells Jordan he’ll be in touch. Jordan asks if Anna is all right. Anna asks if she has a copy of Peter’s letter to Maxie, and Jordan asks, why?

Nina gets a phone ding. Maxie asks if she has to go back to work, but Nina says it isn’t Crimson. Maxie says Valentin isn’t going to stop trying to win her back. Nina says there’s something else she has to take care of, but she’ll come back soon.

At the prison, Jason puts his hand on the glass, and so does Carly. It creeps me out a little. Like she’s pining for Jason more than Sonny. He apologizes for not being at her arraignment, but she’s glad he wasn’t. She pleaded insanity, and she’s glad she didn’t do it while he was watching. He says, why do it? She says even if he finds the blanket, it proves she had more motive. He tells her that Nelle said there was no blanket; it will prove she’s lying. Carly wonders how he can tie it to her. How can he prove any of it? He says Nelle had to buy the scarf and match it. If she did a search online, Spinelli can find it. She says even if he proves it all, he can’t prove she didn’t push Nelle. Diane is right. If she pleads not guilty, she’ll lose.

Anna visits Maxie. She says she saw the baby; he’s perfect. Mac has been texting nonstop; they’re so happy. So is Robin. Maxie says she called. Anna tells Maxie that she’s planning on seeing Robin to explain about Peter. Anna says she didn’t know who he was until the night of the Nurses’ Ball. Maxie says she doesn’t feel so bad that he fooled her, since he fooled a super spy. Anna says she’s sorry, and Maxie says it’s not her fault. No way could she know what Valentin would do, much less her child. Anna says she can’t be objective, but feels Peter knows he made a terrible mistake, and regrets it. She empathizes. Maxie says maybe it’s because she’s his mom. Anna says, maybe. She gives Maxie the letter, and says Peter left it for her.

Peter yells for help. The door opens, and we see legs in high heels. The camera pans up, and it’s Nina. Well, roll me up and call me curly. She’s the last person I thought it was.

Carly tells Jason her best chance is the insanity plea. She’ll go to Shadybrook for a few months, and be home. Jason reminds her of the last time she faked being crazy, and ended up in prison. He tells her not to do it again. She says the best lawyer in the country is telling her to do it, and so is Sonny; it’s a different situation. He tells her to listen to her own instincts. She can admit to what she didn’t do, or fight. She says she’d rather stay in this hole and rot before admitting she did something she didn’t do. He says it’s not about her. Josslyn, Michael, and Avery need their mother; and Sonny needs his wife. They need her to be free, not getting therapy. She says he’s the only person on earth who thinks she doesn’t need therapy. She’s sticking with the plea. Is he going to back her? He says, always, even when he knows she’s wrong. They do that hand thing again. No. Just no.

Michael calls Spinelli. He says he needs help; anything he can find on Nelle. He gives Spinelli some other names to search for. He says whatever it takes to prove she’s lying.

The Quartermaine bell rings. Nelle asks someone to get it, but it keeps ringing, so she gets up. It’s Sonny, who says, look who’s answering the door now. She says Michael isn’t there, but he says he’s looking for her.

On Monday, Oscar has something to take care of, Carly needs a favor, and Sonny wants to have a nice little chat with Nelle. I’ll bet.

May 25, 2018 – Peter Wants to Play Ball & Short But Mixed Quotes

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Robert and Anna are at Kelly’s, Robert tells Anna go home and get some rest. Anna says she got a text from Emma and Robin saying how much fun they had. She doesn’t know how she’s going to tell them. Robert says she should have thought of that before telling Henrik she’s his mother.

Mac and Felicia visit Maxie at the hospital. Felicia wishes they would have been there, but Spinelli told them the baby is healthy. Maxie says he’s small, but perfect in every way. Felicia hopes Nina was there. Maxie says, in keeping with family tradition, she didn’t have the baby in a catacomb or under a restaurant table, but by the side of the road. Felicia asks her to please say someone was there to help her. Maxie says Peter was there, but tells them to sit down. There are some things they don’t know.

Dante tells Henrik that Nathan was killed January, and Faison died shortly afterward. Why is he still there? He got what he came for. He lured father out. Faison was eliminated, and his hands were clean; why not get out? Henrik says he was going to; he even tendered his resignation. Dante asks what changed his mind, and he says he made connections he didn’t want to lose. Dante calls him a selfish SOB, and says he was having too much fun, ingratiating himself to Nathan’s widow, manipulating Lulu to cover his tracks. Henrik says, oh, he wants to talk about Lulu.

Nina is at Lulu’s house, and asks about Charlotte. Lulu thinks it’s better to keep to her routine until they figure out the next steps. Nina says Charlotte is her primary concern; she’ll assess the damage to her marriage when she can wrap her head around it. Lulu can’t thank Nina enough for acting in Charlotte’s best interest. She can see why Charlotte loves her so much. She’s lucky to have Nina in her life. Lulu has to figure out how to explain it without giving away how much she hates Charlotte’s father. The doorbell rings, and Nina answers. it’s Valentin.

In the empty courtroom, Diane asks if Sonny and Carly will allow her to explain. Carly refuses to plead not guilty by reason of insanity because she’s not crazy.

Anna tells Robert that he doesn’t expect Robin to forgive her, but when she hears the reason, hopefully, she’ll accept it. Robert asks what about their deal, and Anna says she had no choice. Henrik was pointing a gun at her at close range when Jason came in. The only ay to stop him was to tell the truth. Robert says the only reason she did it was because she wanted to.

Dante asks if Henrik thought of the fact they have two kids, when he sent Lulu after his psycho daddy. Did he think of them growing up without a mother? Henrik says he wouldn’t know; he never had one. Dante asks if he’s supposed to feel sorry for the poor man’s version of Faison. Henrik says he never manipulated Lulu, but Dante says he played her. He made her think she was going to win a Pulitzer Prize, when she was just writing for an audience of one – him. If Jason hadn’t shot Faison, who was next on his list? Henrik says he never meant to use anyone, and Dante says he used Nathen as a target. Henrik says he didn’t want his brother to die. Dante tells him not to call Nathen his brother again.

Lulu asks what Valentin is doing there, and he says the custody agreement is still in effect, and it’s his week. Lulu asks if he wants Charlotte to watch him getting dragged away in handcuffs again. He says there were no charges; they can’t keep him. Lulu says they can if he’s trying to kidnap Charlotte. He says there’s nothing preventing him from taking her on vacation, and Lulu says there’s a difference between vacation and hiding. He says he has nothing to hide from; he hasn’t broken any laws. Nina says with so much going on, it would be a show of good faith to keep Charlotte at Lulu’s for the time being.

Mac and Felicia want to thank Peter, but Maxie says, no they don’t. Peter is no hero. He’s Henrik Faison.

Brad sees Nelle at the hospital. He heard she was being released, and gives her a bouquet of flowers. She says Michael is on his way; he’s been worried about her. Brad isn’t surprised since it’s some fall she took. It’s a miracle she and the baby weren’t hurt. Nelle says the baby is a miracle; it’s changed her life already so much. She asks if he’s heard anything about Carly, and he says Lucas and Bobbie are freaked out. They think she’s having a psychotic break or something. Nelle doesn’t want to say mentally ill around Michael, but it’s hard to deny at this point. She knows Michael is thinking it too.

Carly tells Diane that she never even touched Nelle. Diane tells her that Nelle said she did, and there’s a boatload of evidence backing it up, but nothing corroborating Carly’s version. Carly says Jason will find it, but Diane says she’s being arraigned today. There are no fewer than six people, including her mother and daughter, that heard her berating Nelle just twenty minutes before she was at the bottom of the stairs.

Mac can’t believe it, and Felicia says, he’s Nathan’s brother? Maxie says she thought Faison wanted to kidnap her, but he was there for Peter. She was just at the wrong place at the worst possible time. She wishes she’d never gone to Crimson. Nathan wouldn’t have been there, and Faison and Peter could have killed each other. Felicia tells her not to blame herself. She no idea what she was walking into. Maxie says, Peter did. He could have gone to the police, but he didn’t; he just let it happen. She wonders if he was thinking, better you than me? Felicia tells her not to try to make sense of it; there’s no sense to be made. Mac says losing Nathan was a terrible tragedy, but one way to learn to live with it is in there in the hospital. Felicia says there’s a beautiful, new person that she and Nathan brought into the world as a testament to their love. He’s fierce and a survivor, like his mama, and she needs to focus on him. There’s no time for hanging on to bitterness. Maxie says she loves her, and they hug. Max and Felicia want to see the baby.

Henrik says Nathan was his brother. Dante says Henrik was no brother to him. Nathan never would have left him hanging. He would have stood by his side, and taken down their father with him. It’s the kind of guy he was. A brother tells truth, even when you don’t want to hear it, and wears stupid hats at your kids’ parties. Henrik wishes he’d known him, but Dante says he would have been ashamed; Henrik is a coward. The only reason he’s not slamming Henrik’s face into the table is Nathan. His brother wouldn’t want him to do that.

Sonny asks Diane how the insanity would work to Carly’s advantage. Diane says she can avoid accusing a poor, pregnant girl of lying, and wouldn’t be considered responsible for her actions. Carly says she was angry, but fully in control; she only grabbed the blanket. Which, Diane tells her, they cannot produce. She can stick to her story, and run risk of prison, or take the remedy the law affords and maintain she’s not responsible.

Max, Felicia, and Maxie look at the baby, who Max thinks already has a pitching arm. Maxie says wait until they see him up close; he reminds her of Nathan. They ask if she’s decided on a name, and she says she’s naming him after his father. Felicia says, Nathan Junior? but she says, no. Nathan’s given name was James. James Malcolm West, if Mac is okay with that. He says it’s the greatest honor of his life. They all say they love each other, and look at the baby some more Felicia says, welcome to the world.

At the station, Anna asks to talk to Henrik. Dante says, be my guest. Henrik says, just when he thought his day couldn’t get worse; hello, mother.

Nelle tells Brad, sooner or later, they’re both going to have little ones, and start their lives over. She asks if he’s excited, and he says he may even join playgroup. The thought of joining random strangers obsessed with child development, would have made him want to set his hair on fire at one point. Now he’s looking forward to it. Lucas is the opposite. He wants it, but the closer they get, the more afraid he is of jinxing it. Nelle tells him not to worry. Before they know it, they’ll be having a playdate. He’s happy things worked out for her, and she’s building a nest with her man. She says it worked out exility as she planned.

Carly wants to call Jason. She wants someone there believes her, and believes in her. Sonny says he believes in her. Jason can be there, but can’t spend time in Pentenville, where she’s going unless she lets Diane do what she does best. Carly says Diane doesn’t believe her. Diane says her concern is what the judge believes, and her job is to get the best possible outcome. It’s something she can prove. Carly and Nelle have had a complicated relationship. Nelle has chosen to play cool, but Carly has publicly demonstrated her animosity. Diane can prove irrational behavior. Carly says she’s not giving in to a lying snake who’s using her dead son to get to her, and trying to turn her surviving children against her.

Felicia asks if Maxie needs anything. Maxie say she has a bag already packed in the front hall closet. Felicia is impressed, but Maxie says, for all the good it did her. Lulu shows up. She doesn’t want to intrude, but says the baby is beautiful, and congratulates Maxie. Felicia leaves, and Maxie asks Lulu to wait. Lulu heard Peter delivered the baby. Maxie says, she means Henrik, and she swears she didn’t know. He was right under her nose, manipulating her. She was desperate to feel worthwhile and do something she was proud of, and got caught up in the hype and attention on her. She couldn’t face it before, but owns it now. She’s sorry. She never wanted anything bad to happen, and should have listened to Maxie and Dante. She never imagined it would go down like that. Maxie says she was angry and hurt, and still doesn’t agree with what she did, but she’s not responsible for what happened to Nathan. Peter is.

Nina meets Valentin in the park. He knows she’s upset; she should be. He wants her to understand that she means everything to him. She says he’s said it a million times – usually after he’s lied – but this time is different. Her brother is dead. Valentin says, Peter didn’t shoot him, but Nina says Valentin didn’t warn Nathan that he was in town. Valentin says he couldn’t betray him. Valentin admits to being a bad man, and doing bad things; the worst turning over an innocent baby. He changed the course of Peter’s life, and couldn’t undo it. He could only mitigate the damage. So he kept Peter’s secret. He hates how it turned out, but asks her to please understand he had no choice.

Henrik asks why Anna is there. If it’s forgiveness, it’s a wasted trip. She doesn’t blame him for hating her, but she thought he should know the truth; he deserves that. He says he figured it out already. A pretty girl gets knocked up by a monster, wants to forget, and walks away. Anna says, she was young, inexperienced, and let the situation get out of control. He knows how impossible his father was to predict, so when she realized she was pregnant, she wanted to protect from him, and make sure Faison never found out. Henrik says she failed there. Anna says she asked for him to be taken away after he was born. She didn’t want any connection. She didn’t even know she’d had a boy. She convinced herself the less she knew, the more distance could keep, and the safer he’d be, away from Faison and his obsession with her. Henrik tells her to stop lying. He doesn’t need to hear her version of selfless love. She left him with the monster. She says she wasn’t the one who gave him to Faison. It was Valentin.

Sonny asks Diane what kind of argument she can make. Diane says there’s a pattern of irrational behavior at the shower. Carly smashed a present, and argued violently with Nelle. Carly protests, but Diane says, there are facts presented. No one has seen the blanket, and if she continues with that story, she’s likely to spend time in prison, or she make the plea advised and regain her freedom in a matter of months.

Carly says the strategy doesn’t work for her because she’s not crazy. Telling the court she is, is perjury. She didn’t push Nelle, and saying she did is also perjury. Playing Nelle’s game is perpetrating a lie, and she doesn’t want to do that either. Sonny says there’s no choice between prison and the hospital. Diane says there’s no proof of her innocence, but ample proof of irrational behavior. Another factor is her husband.

Brad has to leave. Nelle thanks him for the flowers and gift. She hasn’t had time to write thank you cards. Brad can’t believe Carly would do this, and Nelle says she didn’t throw herself down the stairs. He says no one in their right mind would think that. She says it’s a shame Carly went off the deep end, and hopes she gets the help she needs.

Nina says Peter is a grown man. He knew Faison was after him, and did nothing to warn anyone he was coming. Neither did Valentin. Had they done differently, her brother might be alive. She asks if he wanted to get out of town before Faison got there, and he says, no, but she says he lies all the time. He says if he’d known Faison was coming, he would have been with her. She says she’s done. She’s tired of trying to figure out his motives. She can’t live like this.

Maxie tells lulu about Faison being with Peter at Crimson. She assumed he was there for her, but he was there for his other son. The rest of them were just collateral damage. Lulu says she’s sorry, but Maxie says, no, she is. She’s sorry she let him in her life, believed his lies, and let herself lean on him. She couldn’t see who he was or that he was bad as his father lulu asks to be let back in her life help with baby actually something needs help with name it

Henrik tells Anna she’s laying the blame on Valentin for what she did. She tells him that they were at the Academy together; cadets and friends. They had a falling out, and Valentin resented her. He figured out she was pregnant, and could have turned her in. Instead, he followed her, and found out from the midwife where the baby was placed. It was an illegal adoption, so he confronted the couple, and they gave him up, and Valentin took him to Faison. Henrik wonders why he didn’t tell Faison that she was his mother. Anna says, he told her it was strategy. Henrik says, never give up all the leverage; always keep something in reserve. He says, his mentor, his friend, and Anna says Valentin helped because he regretted what he’d done. Henrik says she didn’t do this for his good; she did it for hers. She says she was just trying to keep him safe. He says clearly, it interfered with her career plan. He says it was different with Robin; her father was the legendary Robert Scorpio. She says it was a different time in her life. Henrik insists she was protecting herself. Dante comes in, and says it’s time for the arraignment, and takes Henrik out.

Anna follows. She says there’s not going to be an arraignment. Tell the DA that she refuses to cooperate. Robert says he tried to kill her, but she says he’s her son. She’s not going to testify against him.

Dante tells her that Jason said Henrik was ready to shoot her. Anna says he misinterpreted the situation. Henrik was never going to shoot her. She says she’s a veteran agent, and Jason is a criminal; who does he think they’ll believe? Dante says no matter how she protects Henrik, he’s innocent. She says she betrayed him once. She’s not going to do it again.

Valentin wants to go home and be a family. Nina asks how that will work? Every time she looks at him, she sees her dead brother. She’s not doing that to herself or Charlotte. If he was a good man, he’d go to Morocco and leave Charlotte with Lulu. He hopes she doesn’t mean that, but she does. She tells him to please leave while his daughter still loves him.

Maxie tells Lulu that if she really wants to do something for her and the baby, help take down Peter August.

Robert tells Anna that guilt is clouding her judgement. She doesn’t want to face the man Henrik has become. Henrik says perhaps if they hear what he has to offer, they might want to play ball.

Carly asks Diane what Sonny has to do with it. Diane says he’s an alleged mobster of some repute. They share a name, and the DA has been trying to take him down for years, If the new DA can put his wife in prison, it’s the next best thing to him. Carly says, so she’s not only crazy, but a scapegoat for Sonny? Diane says it will keep her from that. She can’t prove what she says happened. Carly says Jason can. Sonny says what if he does, and Diane says the DA will spin it into a motive, saying Carly pushed her down the stairs because she was angry. She started it isn’t a legitimate justification for attempted murder. If Carly wants to be a free woman, take the insanity plea. Carly hates this, but Sonny says it’s the only option.

On Monday, Drew asks what’s holding Andre back, Alexis needs a consultation, and Franco wants to meet Elizabeth’s family.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

The show was on for a couple of minutes, when ABC broke in with news about the school shooting in Santa Fe. I get that, but it had happened several hours earlier, and, as usual, went way past the point of giving us news. That’s what I hate. My problem isn’t with the news itself, but all the amenities that come with it, like interviewing the janitor’s second cousin who witnessed nothing, but knows when it’s going to rain. Seriously, unless the world is coming to an end – and I mean literally, like if the sun is hurtling toward us – or we’re being invaded, I don’t see the point and it’s just irritating. Later, I was able to watch what I missed online with Verizon, but they usually don’t list it the same day. Lucky me, I didn’t have to imagine the lips syncing with the words on a pirated version.

General Hospital

Molly introduces Alexis, but she’s busy eavesdropping on Anna and Finn backstage. Finn tells Anna he’s never stopped caring. She’s never far from his mind and heart, and he wouldn’t want anything to happen without her knowing he cared.

Jason stops by Nelle’s room to find Michael. Michael asks if she’ll be okay for a few minutes. She says sure, and then the show gets interrupted for news that can wait an hour. I catch up a few hours later. Jason gives Nelle a stupid look. In the hallway, Jason tells Michael that Carly didn’t push Nelle, and deep down he knows that.

Finn apologizes to Anna for taking so long to tell her. Alexis makes herself known.

Nina doesn’t understand why Valentin is so eager to leave; he still has to perform. He promised Lucy, and Nina tells him not to let her down. She asks if something is going on.

Sam looks at the lighter on Peter’s desk, and sees the initials, CF. She says, Cesar Faison. She remembers Jason telling her about Faison carrying it, and that it wasn’t with his belongings. At the time, she’d said, if they find the lighter, they find Henrik.

Alexis, Finn, and Anna all look at each other. Alexis walks away. Finn says he should – and Anna says, yeah, he should. On stage, Lucy apologizes for the glitch. Alexis comes out to applause, but she keeps moving, and goes out the door. Mike points out to Sonny that she’s upset, and asks if he wants to go after her. Sonny says it doesn’t have anything to do with him.

Valentin tells Nina that he wants to get away with the two people that matter to him the most, her and Charlotte. Nina reminds him that his song at last year’s ball convinced her to give him another chance. He screwed up. Here’s his chance not to do it again.

Sam says Peter was in the hospital the night Faison died. She sees his copy of The Severed Branch. She flips through it, and says, just like it happened in the book.

Michael knows Jason will always defend his mother, and he’s grateful, but he wasn’t there. Jason says, neither was he. Jason asks what Nelle said. Michael says she told him that his mom lost control. Jason say that’s proof Nelle is lying. Carly would never risk her grandchild. He knows she would lie down in front of a train for her family. Michael says, under normal circumstances, and it’s been anything but normal lately. Jason insists it’s Nelle sabotaging Carly’s life.

On stage, Lucy says it’s not the Nurses’ Ball without some drama, but they’re not letting it ruin a good time. She tells the audience to kick it up a notch for the rocker others call Eddie Maine, but they call him Mr. Mayor. He and his first lady are spearheading the rebuilding of their city. In 60s garb with a flower power background, Olivia plays the tambourine, and Ned sings, (What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding. Excellent.

Colleen Sullivan tells us to stay tuned for more glamor, excitement, and surprises. They’re just getting started.

Jason tells Michael there have been calls from a payphone near where Morgan died, a replica of his scarf, the power outage and intruder at Bobbie’s house, and Carly finds Morgan’s picture on the floor, broken. Michael asks if he thinks Nelle did all that. He’s going to have to prove it. Jason says like he’ll prove the blanket is real. Jason gets a call from Sam, but asks her to hold on. He says he needs Michael to be careful, for the baby’s sake and himself. Michael says Jason has given him a lot to think about. Jason gets back on the phone, and asks Sam what’s going on. She says she needs to see him. It’s important.

Molly – in a very becoming sleeveless gown that looks like it’s made out of blue/green glitter – tells Finn that whatever he said to upset her mother, she’s completely humiliated. So don’t apologize or try to fix it, just accept the fact that he’s a jerk and leave her alone. Anna says, oh dear. Ha-ha! She’s so British sometimes. He says it didn’t go exactly as planned. Anna says, for the record, she’s not dying. Finn says, for the record, he meant everything he said. Anna says she cares a lot about him too. Oh, kiss already.

Ava suggests she and Griff take advantage of his room upstairs; she could use a warm-up before her performance. Griff says he wants to watch the rest of show, She says it’s cool.

Stella tells Sonny it’s manifestly none of her business, but sometimes an outsider can pick up on things another person is too close to see. Sonny asks where she’s going with this. She tells him that he has a stare that could freeze a blasting furnace. Putting it on the woman who is the mother of his child might not be the wisest thing. Mike tells her to forgive him; he has a helluva temper. Sonny says it’s difficult to be in the same room, especially tonight, but she’s right. It’s not a good thing to show the world how you feel. Stella agrees. Sonny raises his glass to Ava, who’s like, huh?

Backstage, Kim asks Josslyn and Oscar if they’re ready. Drew joins them. Oscar says he didn’t know Drew was coming, and Kim says, neither did she. Drew says once he heard Oscar was performing, he couldn’t be stopped. Oscar hugs him, and says, thank you. Everyone smiles.

Anna says Finn needs to find Alexis and apologize. He says, yes, he does. Anna tells him that she’s not staying much longer. She looks at text from Henrik: Midnight. Pier 55. Come alone. She says she has a meeting. She can’t tell him about it, but after tonight, she’ll be closer to it all being over. She tells him to go find Alexis.

Alexis sits at the bar. The bartender asks what he can get her. She looks at the bottles.

Michael goes back to Nelle’s room. She tells him that she’s gotten the all-clear from the doctors. She’s being released tomorrow. He says that’s good news. She asks if there’s something wrong. He says Jason was telling him what was going on with his mother. She thinks someone is harassing her; messing with her head for months now.

Finn sits next to Alexis. She says he found her. He tells her the concierge saw her take the elevator. He says, that’s not a double-vodka? She says, it’s a club soda, and she wishes people would stop acting as if she’s dying for a bottle of gin every time she feels crappy. Finn says he never meant to hurt her; he’s sorry. She says he has nothing to be sorry for, and he didn’t hurt her. She just hurts. She knew he still cared about Anna; it’s not on him. He didn’t do anything. She allowed herself to be a prop in the game he was playing with Anna.

Anna starts to text Henrik. Robin startles her, and asks what’s up with her and Finn. Anna says it’s complicated, and suggests they go and enjoy the show.

Peter is messing with his phone, and Maxie says, more work? He tells her these are the last ones, and goes out to the hallway. Julian asks Molly if she’s getting nervous about Finn. She says she doesn’t want to fight with him – he did save her life – but her mother is in a vulnerable place. He’d better think long and hard before he does anything for Alexis’s sake. Julian says he’s not sure what means. She thinks he does. Kim asks what Julian doing about Alexis, and Julian says he’s here with her, and they should get back to their seats; her son is performing. Lucy says the Nurses’ Ball is known for spotlighting younger performers, and introduces Molly and Oscar. This is when the news released us back to the program. Or rather, commercials, then the program.

Molly sings, while Oscar accompanies her on the guitar. I think the name of the song is I Never Knew, but I’m not positive. I’m not familiar with it, and come up empty in a subsequent search. Sam shows Jason the lighter. She says she found it in Peter’s office. She was confused at first, since he said he wasn’t a smoker. She remembered he’d said he had to confront Faison about something in the hospital the night Faison died. Jason says Faison was honest for once. He’d said Henrik was hiding in plain sight. Jason says, Peter August is Henrik.

Mike tells Molly she was spectacular, and tells Oscar his date is pretty, but not as gorgeous as Stella. Kim motions Oscar over.

Kiki asks if she can sit at Molly’s table. Molly thought she was sitting with Dr. Bensch, but Kiki says she wants to be with people her own age.

Kim asks if Oscar is glad now that he took music lessons. I’m assuming that means she forced him to take them.

Michael asks Nelle if his mom mentioned anything to her. Nelle says she rambled about a disappearing note and Morgan’s cologne, but she wasn’t making sense. Something starts to beep on Nelle’s monitor. She begins to panic, and Michael tells her, just breathe.

Sam tells Jason that Peter is with Maxie, and asks how they’re going to do this.

Maxie tells Peter that she’s not feeling so great, and asks him to take her home. Valentin watches.

Robin asks if Anna is leaving already; there’s a lot left. She asks if it has to do with the emails she’s been receiving. Anna is cagey, and says she wouldn’t leave if it wasn’t important.

Lucy tells Valentin it’s his turn.

Kim asks Julian if he’s thinking about going after Alexis. Julian says he’s here with her. She says they promised to be honest with each other. He says they’re having a great time. She tells him if he needs a friend, he has one, and leaves.

Finn tells Alexis that she was never a prop. He fell for Anna more than he wanted to admit. He wasn’t using her; he wanted to move on. Alexis says that’s why they call it a rebound. There’s a good reason why people in same AA meeting shouldn’t hook up. He says it’s not about that; it’s about him. She deserves better. Alexis says that she needs him to not be there right now, and he wisely leaves.

Kim sees Olivia looking into the swag bags, and Olivia says she’s taking advantage of the break to snoop in the bags. We get an advertisement for Olay with Kim pitching the product.

Michael says he didn’t mean to upset Nelle. She tells him that she was so scared when Carly pushed her; she was out of control. Michael asks if she’s sure Carly pushed her, and she says, she absolutely pushed her. He tells her to get some rest. She says she’ll be fine, because he’s there.

Mike sees Deanna, and says he found his favorite nurse at the Ball. Deanna says, since it’s the Nurses’ Ball, the odds of that were pretty likely. Stella introduces mike to Felix. She thinks they’ll get along well.

Jason asks Robin if her mom is still there. He has to talk to her. Robin says she left, and asks, what’s up? He tells her Anna will explain when there’s time. Sam tells him that Peter left with Maxie. She thinks he’s meeting with someone. They have to get into Peter’s email account.

In the car, Maxie apologizes to Peter for making him leave early. He says he had to work anyway. He asks how she’s feeling, and she says like the baby is doing a kickboxing workout. She suddenly tells him to pull over. Her water just broke. Shouldn’t they jet to the hospital? Peter asks if she’s sure, and she says, very, and she’s done this before. She says they have no time to get to the hospital. There’s something wrong with the baby. Where’s that Star Trek transporter they always use?

Julian sees Alexis at the bar. Kim asks if she can join Drew. He’d thought Julian was her date. She says he had to see someone; she’s flying solo. They go in and sit together.

Jason and Sam go into Peter’s office. Jason leaves a message for Spinelli. He tells Sam that they don’t have a lot of time. They need to hack into Peter’s email. He pushes the keyboard toward her

Lucy tells the audience to give themselves a hand, and to keep the momentum going. The next performance was a surprise addition to last year’s Ball. He was so good, they asked him to come back. Valentin sits at the piano, and performs Peter Gabriel’s Book of Love, accompanying himself. He sings to Nina, and she smiles. He is really good.

As the song finishes, Robin get up. Robert is on stage. He punches out Valentin.

On Monday, David follows Kiki, Robert wants justice, and Anna waits for Henrik. Who is busy delivering a baby.

👗 Since I know my dress descriptions were lacking, you can see some of them here. I voted for Sam.

🏰 Sadly, tonight was the Once Upon A Time finale. Since they shoved it into the death spot on Friday night, and I knew it was the last season, I found it hard to commit, so I hadn’t watched much of it. I figured I’d catch up on a rainy weekend some time. I did want to see the end though, and it was sweet. They brought in many of the old characters for the farewell. In a nutshell, Rumpel/Gold and Belle were reunited at last, in heavenly clouds. All the realms were united, and Regina was chosen to lead them. Snow White and Prince Charming officiated at the coronation, crowning her The Good Queen. Emma called it a happy beginning, since Regina didn’t like endings, and the stories were far from over. However, Regina thought second chance was a better choice. because in the end, they could get past it all – with hope. And we saw the sign, saying, Leaving Storybrooke. Sad face.

🍖 It was also the finale of MasterChef Junior. The final three – Quani, Beni, and Avery – had to create a three-course meal. For their entrees, they each gathered inspiration from their roots, cooking catfish, veal chops, and a ribeye, respectively. A lot of attention was given to Quani having elevated the catfish. Apparently, none of the judges were a fan of it, which surprised me, since I like catfish. Although it sounded like one of those things that, if it’s not done exactly right, you don’t want to eat it. When they moved on to the dessert, and Quani’s tart broke, so did my heart. It was not a happy moment. Beni was the big winner, and the young chefs ended with a group hug. I have to confess, I both rooted for Avery, and was glad she didn’t win. She’s eight. Eight. And cooks better than anyone I will ever know.

⛲ Quotes of the Week

All from the same poetess.

A lifetime isn’t forever, so take the first chance, don’t wait for the second one! Because sometimes, there aren’t second chances! And if it turns out to be a mistake? So what! This is life! A whole bunch of mistakes! But if you never get a second chance at something you didn’t take a first chance at? That’s true failure. —  C. Joybell C.

Ends are not bad things, they just mean that something else is about to begin. And there are many things that don’t really end, anyway, they just begin again in a new way. Ends are not bad and many ends aren’t really an ending; some things are never-ending.C. Joybell C.  Or as Semisonic put it more simply, every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.

We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don’t even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It’s time to put an end to this. It’s time for us to let ourselves be loved. — C. Joybell C.

May 11, 2018 – Nelle’s Shower Gets Exciting, 90 Day Journey, Quotes Worth Heeding & Moms

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sonny tells Jason that if they dig up what he did, his life will get blown apart.

At the MetroCourt, Anna leaves another message for Robert. She writes an email to Henrik from his mother. She says now that Faison is dead, she can tell him the truth about why she was forced to give him up when he was born. Valentin sits down and says she’s been avoiding him.

Curtis sits with Nina, and tells her she’s all work and no play. She says if her brother’s letters are any indication, she’s always been cool and interesting. He says, the ones he found in Peter’s office? She thanks him for a job well done, and gives him an envelope. He says it’s his pleasure, and amends that to extreme pleasure when he sees what’s inside. He asks if she’s sure she doesn’t want him to do any extra digging, but she says she was just angry. She was being paranoid and overprotective about Maxie. Peter isn’t a threat.

Peter reads his mother’s email, and says he can hear the excuses already. He leaves a message for Valentin to call him – now. Sam drops by, and says she’s given more thought to what they discussed.  She was surprised he told her it would be better off if she left. She asks him, why?

Carly yells, screw you, Ava! and throws the penguin mobile against the fireplace. Olivia says they all know how she hates Ava. They know what she did to Morgan and Connie – and her – but if she can keep her cool, so can Carly.

Jason tells Sonny it’s been decades. There’s nothing to connect him to the body. Sonny wouldn’t say that, since there have been major strides in forensics since then. A young kid on his first job made the mistake of burying the gun too. If they find a partial print and run it through the system, it will be Christmas for the Feds. Jason says they’d better get moving then.

Peter tells Sam he didn’t mean to imply the company would be better off without her. To be honest, Drew is more invested in the company. It might be difficult, if not impossible. for them to work together. It’s in Drew’s best interest if she walks away.

Curtis needs Nina to help him pick the right one. He shows her his phone, and she asks if that’s what she thinks it is. He says he’s going to propose to Jordan, and needs help in picking the perfect ring.

Valentin tells Anna that he can’t get ahold of Robert; he seems to have fallen off the grid. Anna says that’s what good agents do. Valentin wanted to follow up on the conundrum box with him. He put some thought in it, and remembers seeing one like it on Cassadine Island. He offers to have it dug up, but Anna passes that to Robert. Valentin is surprised she doesn’t want to check it out herself. He says Robert made it sound urgent, and he thought it had something to do with Henrik.

Carly says Ava brought Avery to the shower to flaunt it in her face. Ava says Avery is her daughter, and she’ll bring her where she wants. Carly says that’s only because she threatened to send Mike to prison. Ava says she’s like Carly, and will do anything for her children. Nelle apologizes, telling them to blame her. Carly says she’s not sorry; she’s thrilled. Monica reminds everyone that it’s a baby shower, and now it’s been brought to a halt in an argument about penguins. Bobbie says that’s not what the fight is about. She knows Nelle did it on purpose. Monica says it’s her shower. If she wants penguins, she can ask for penguins. Carly asks if her mother is the only one who sees Nelle for the snake she is.

Olivia suggests they play the baby bag game, where they guess what’s in the bag without looking at it. Olivia tells Carly that she knows it’s hard. She doesn’t like Nelle any better than Carly does. Ava hears her, and asks why come, let alone host the shower? Olivia says the baby is a Quartermaine, and after what Nelle pulled, Carly has every right to be skeptical. Nelle starts to interject, but Olivia suggests she quit while she’s ahead. Bobbie tells Carly that she can’t go in guns blazing. If she won’t do it for the baby or Michael, do it for herself. It’s not the battle to be picking right now. Carly steps away and takes a pill.

Nina looks through the rings. Curtis knows it will hurt one person and he’ll have no true peace, but it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. He and Jordan keep running away, and end up in the same place. Their last resort is to surrender, and promise to honor their bond every day for the rest of their lives. Nina says this is the one. It’s poetic yet honest, dazzling yet direct, and undeniably romantic. It’s like Jordan is for him, and him for her. Curtis looks at it and says she’s good. Nina says she is, and also happy for him. He’s been a good friend, indulging her with the investigation. He says she thought something was wrong, now it’s not, so that’s good news. She says Peter is on the up and up, and asks him to tell Sam that she was wrong. He has the best of intentions.

Sam asks if Peter thinks it’s impossible for them to work together. He says not to sound insensitive, but they’re getting a divorce. It would be better to have one CEO than two who are struggling with one another. She says she’s made her decision, and she’s staying. She tells him to let everyone who expressed concern know that she’s back and not going anywhere.

Anna tells Valentin that Robert is personally taking over the search for her son. She’d lost perspective, and her health suffered for it. Valentin asks if it’s serious, but Anna says she just needs to rest. She’s fine, and doesn’t need his sympathy. She needs to focus on the family she already has, and not be fixated on making things right with her son. Robert pointed out it might have a negative effect on Robin. Valentin says it’s shocking, but he agrees with Robert. She should focus on the  child has, not the one she doesn’t know.

Maxie comes into Peter’s office, and tells him that Nina showed her the folder he put together. He takes it that he owes her an apology. She asks if he’s kidding. Both she and Nina are beyond grateful. For Nina, it’s a keepsake of her brother, and for Maxie and the baby, it will be a window to what Nathan was like growing up. He wishes he’d given it to them sooner. When he sees it from Nina’s point of view, he can understand why she was suspicious. Maxie says Nina now sees what a good guy he is.

Nelle feels terrible. Monica opened her home to make this beautiful day happen. Carly has every reason not to trust her, but Nelle has to make it right. All she wants to do is build bridges and make amends. Olivia says now is not the time, but Nelle says what better time is there than when they’re celebrating the baby. She tells Carly that when she wanted name the baby Morgan, she was sincere. Carly says she has no reason to believe her, and Nelle says she’s right; she doesn’t. Josslyn says Nelle didn’t mean to be insensitive; she just wanted to do something nice. Carly is sure that’s what Nelle told her. Josslyn says even when Nelle told her that she admired her as a mother, and trusted her with guardianship of the baby, even that was a mistake. She just wanted to honor Morgan. Let her make things right.

Maxie tells Peter that Crimson is donating the programs. Peter laughs, saying he just wishes Nina would tell him something ahead of time. Maxie says Nina’s motto is that it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. She wishes it didn’t mean she has to attend. Peter feigns shock, and says, Maxie Jones missing the social event of the season? She must be feverish and delusional, and needs to go home immediately. She tells him that last year, she was in Portland and missed it, so she and Nathan were going to do it up this year. She suggests sending an intern so they understand with glamour there is always pain. Peter says, or they could go together; he would appreciate the company. She says it would be easier to go with a friend, if he doesn’t mind walking the red carpet with a very pregnant lady. He says they’re on.

Carly tells Nelle that if she wants to make it right, stop saying Morgan’s name. She says Nelle only wants to hurt her, like with her friendship with Josslyn. Nelle is using Josslyn because she resents their loving family, and wants to destroy it. No one is buying her noble victim act. She doesn’t want to make amends or honor Morgan, she just wants to get Michael back. And everyone knows he’s too good for her. Nelle runs out of the room, crying. Monica says, so much for playing nice.

Jason and Sonny arrive at the field in Croton, using the Star Trek transporter. Jason says, they’ll be breaking ground any day, and Sonny tells him, this is it; between the columns and the water tower. He suggests they get past the nostalgia, and do what they came to do.

Bobbie tells Monica it’s a sensitive subject, and Monica says no one knows better than she the pain of mourning a son; ask Sonny. She suggests Carly suck it up, and treat Nelle with courtesy, and if she can’t, fake it. Josslyn asks if she couldn’t be nice for a change. Bobbie says Nelle was baiting Carly all afternoon. Josslyn says Nelle is insecure, and tries too hard because she loves Michael. They’re having a baby, and she’s the reason Josslyn is alive, if that counts for anything. Carly knows how badly Josslyn wants Nelle to be a good person, but wanting something doesn’t make it true. Josslyn asks if Carly is going to hate Nelle for the rest of her life, and blow up at every birthday party. She asks if Carly thinks Nelle will want to bring the baby to their house if Carly is going to fight with her. If she doesn’t make things right, Nelle will give up on them, and make her family with the Quartermaines. Josslyn will have to choose, and she doesn’t want to do that. She’s always telling Josslyn to take responsibility; why can’t she? Whatever Nelle did was wrong, but Carly was out of line. Why can’t she say she’s sorry, and forget it? Bobbie says Carly isn’t wrong, and Josslyn says, her too. She asks Carly, who’s more important, Nelle or her daughter? Carly says that’s ridiculous; Josslyn is her heart. Josslyn says, then suck it up and apologize. She wants to see her make the gesture. I want one of those giant balloons with a tassel. Carly says, okay, she’ll apologize to Nelle.

Jason and Sonny dig. Jason says it’s packed tight. He doubts anyone has been out there since Sonny was. He asks how far down, and Sonny says six feet; that’s how far he dug. Sonny has to take a break. Jason keeps digging. Sonny says that Skully had everything he wanted; money, respect, and power. What he wanted most was the power. His dad didn’t have it, and he knew it would cost him, but he didn’t care. He had two choices – be powerful like Skully, or weak like his dad. Here they are thirty years later, his dad is starting to lose everything, and it’s brought him back to the place it started. How about that?

Anna tells Valentin if he and Robert agree, who is she to argue? He asks if she’s being facetious, and she says, actually, she’s not. Faison stole a lot of her time, and now he’s gone. She hopes to make up time with Robin, who’s on her way to visit. Everything is on hold until after the Ball. Valentin says, for what it’s worth, he’s sorry. She’s in pain is he she knows he is this odyssey looking for Henrik search for peace hopes she finds it thanks him don’t know if sincere as sincere as he is he leaves

Carly seeks out Nelle in the nursery. She says Monica went all out. Nelle says at least somebody cares about the baby. Carly says she’s sorry. Nelle had no reason to know penguins were Morgan’s favorite. She’ll love the baby with everything she has. Nelle knows she will. Carly says as distasteful as it is, they have to call a truce. Nelle asks how she proposes they do that?

Nelle picks up the blanket she’s been knitting. Carly asks where she got that? Morgan had one just like it; her mom made it. Nelle says she had no idea. Carly says it’s her. All of it; the scarf, the calls. She smashed the picture, and put the note on Carly’s car, sending her to Morgan’s grave. Nelle asks if she’s feeling okay; she’s not making much sense. Carly says she sees what Nelle is doing, and it’s not going to work. She underestimated her. She’s good, but it’s over. Nelle says if she didn’t know better, she’d think Carly was losing it. The situation is perfect for getting Carly to smack her while she’s pregnant. Then she can cry in Josslyn’s arms. It’s not going to happen. She sees Nelle for who she is. Nelle says she’s carrying a baby that Michael loves. She says he appreciated that she was there for him when Avery disappeared. Carly says she was circling like a vulture to make herself look good. Nelle says it’s because she loves him. She’ll be there to ease the pain about his grandfather, and they’ll tells stories to the baby about him one day. She’s there for all of them. If Carly needs anything, just say the word. Carly says, it will be a cold day in hell. Nelle says, if she didn’t know better, she’d think Carly was having a breakdown. She must recognize the signs. She did when she threw Nelle’s breakdown in her face. She shouldn’t throw stones, since she spent time in a mental hospital herself.

Sam sees Maxie at the MetroCourt, and asks if she’ll be her date for the Nurses’ Ball. Maxie says she just promised Peter she’d go with him. Sam says she can fill him in on what happens. Nina tells Curtis good luck, and when he leaves, Maxie sits down. She wonders why everyone needs luck. Nina says she can’t tell her. Maxie says that something is happening, and she wants Nina to hear it from her first.

Curtis tells Sam that it’s off; Nina pulled the plug. He don’t know what Peter is selling, but Nina is buying it wholesale. Sam says if they keep it quiet, he’ll think he’s in the clear. He’s involved with too many people she cares about. She’s not letting it go.

Peter looks at an email from his mother, saying she wants to finally get to know him. He asks, is that what you want, mom?

Jason says they should hit the body soon. Sonny keeps thinking about when Jason came to work with him. He didn’t intend it to be the rest of Jason’s life. He didn’t know he’d rely so much on him. He can’t have own life because Sonny has trapped him. Jason says he chose his own life, but Sonny wants him to know he’s not taking it for granted. Jason says Sonny, Carly, and Michael are his family; they’re good. Sonny gets a flashlight. Jason hits something. It’s a dollar sign money clip.

Carly says it was all a ploy. Nelle set her up with the shower gift. She’s using the baby shower to hurt her and freak her out in front of Josslyn. Nelle says it must be a banner day for her, and a tragic one for Michael with his mother unbalanced and dangerous. She’ll have to get checked out before they let her have access to the baby. Carly says, think again, bitch. She’ll never get away. Nelle says, watch her.

Sonny remembers it like yesterday, the dude he buried flashing wads of cash. Jason says that’s all there is. There’s no body.

Anna types an email from Henrik’s mother. She tells him, for his own protection, not to trust Valentin Cassadine.

Curtis tells Sam that Nina might be satisfied, but there are too many unanswered questions. He suggests they work together.

Nina thinks Maxie going to the Ball with Peter is great. It’s good for her. Maxie says, so she doesn’t need the speech where she valiantly, but unsuccessfully, promotes Peter? Nina says she thought he was hiding a deep, dark secret, but he’s just a thoughtful guy. Maxie says, I told you so, and Nina says it’s the only one she’s going to get. She’s sorry she was overprotective. With Nathan gone, she thought it was her job to watch out for Maxie. She thought he’d want it that way. Maxie says, he would, but Nina says she took it too far. Her heart is in the right place, but Peter isn’t someone Maxie needs protection from.

Peter reads the email about Valentin. Valentin shows up at his office, and asks if he’s disturbing Peter. Peter says, on the contrary. He just left a message demanding Valentin call him back. It’s better face-to-face when there’s an important matter to discuss. He wants to know if they’re on the same page.

At the shower, everyone is playing Olivia’s baby bag game. Brad guesses, a toy. Olivia says every child under the age of six months thinks everything counts as a toy. It’s a wooden spoon.

Upstairs, Carly says she will not let Nelle get her hands on her son. Nelle leaves the room, and Carly makes a grab for the blanket. They struggle over it at the top of the stairs, and no surprise, Nelle falls down them. I’ve been wondering if something like that was going to happen.

On Monday, Jordan says she’s not ready for marriage, Jason thinks the body was moved, and Monica wants to call the police.

💍 In anticipation of the new season of 90 Day Fiancé (May 20th), TLC has been taking the pieces of each couples’ story shown throughout a season and putting them together, adding a new branch to the franchise tree. Tonight, was Jorge and Anfisa: Our Continuing Journey, and I couldn’t resist. They had a journey, all right. I never did quite get a handle on these two. I hadn’t seen them in the beginning, so that part was new to me. Apparently, Jorge had quite a thing going with dealing medical weed, as well as designing packaging for it. He’d designed a bag that didn’t let in ultra-violet rays or something like that, and it kept the weed fresher. You’d think that would have set him up for life. He’d told Anfisa that he was a millionaire, and they had traveled a bit together, but after she got here, she found out he was actually in debt. Jorge lost his job, although that wasn’t clear if it was because Anfisa kept interrupting his $15K drug deal with screaming mimi phone calls. While I totally get that she felt she’d been duped, she reacted like a toddler, throwing many literal temper tantrums. On the other hand, Jorge had the emotional range of a potato, so maybe she was just trying to get a reaction. Any reaction. She wanted to live the good life, but with Jorge, it was less than mediocre. The final straw came when Jorge’s sister accused Anfisa of only spreading her legs for Jorge when he had money, and he just sat there like the emotionless sack of flour he was during the entire relationship. She walked out, finding a life of her own. These two were just bizarre. At times, they seemed like bad actors, their conversation and mannerisms stilted and wooden.

The really weird part came during The Couples Tell All episodes (what you call a reunion). They arrived together, and were sharing a hotel room. During all three episodes, Jorge intimated he had some juicy information about Anfisa, claiming it was something she wanted to keep hidden. Even though the host eventually had a two-on-one with them, Jorge never really spilled the beans. Was she a hooker escort? A stripper An exotic dancer? Part of the Russian mob? A potato farmer trying to capture him? What? We may never know. Another question on my list for God when I meet Him. She made it clear she’d expected a life of luxury and Jorge didn’t deliver, and the rest of the couples were of one mind that this was not a love match. Still, there were glimmers of humanity, like when Anfisa cried at the civil ceremony. Although she could have been crying about the United States not being the land of opportunity she’d thought it was.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

On the phone at the MetroCourt, Carly says she’s excited about Nelle’s baby shower. No, really. She hangs up and takes a pill. Sonny asks how she’s doing, and she says better. He says that means Doc knows what he’s doing. She hopes it gets her through Nelle’s baby shower.

Nelle and Michael arrive at Kelly’s, and see Lulu and Dante. Nelle says they just came back from interviewing pediatricians, and asks who their kids see. Lulu says Valentin prefers Dr. Arden for Charlotte. Nelle thinks he’s a little cold, and Lulu says they could get along perfectly. What’s with these people? If I was Nelle, I’d be plotting against them too.

On the phone, Valentin tells someone to find a legitimate reason to get Robert on the plane, and he’ll take it from there. He needs to get rid of him.

Robert tells Anna that the problem with Jason is there’s no negotiating with him. Robert is concerned about the risks of Anna posing as Henrik’s mother and dangling herself as bait. He says she’s working hard to get herself killed.

Nina asks Peter what reason he has keeping a folder of personal things regarding Nathan. He didn’t even know her brother. Peter says he can explain. It was going to be surprise for her and Maxie.

At Nathan’s grave, Maxie says it should be a kind, generous, and thoughtful gift, but it’s a stunt. If Henrik wanted to do something good, he would leave her alone, or find a way to bring Nathan back. He has no idea how much she wishes it was possible. She hears something, and asks if someone is there.

Chet reveals himself. Since it’s a different Chet, I’m confused for a moment. He’s sorry he scared her. He’s also sorry about Nathan; he was good man. Chet wishes he could have gone to the funeral. Maxie says Amy told her that he was having health problems, but he says he’s doing better after the surgery. He’s brought Nathan his six-month NA chip, since Nathan had a lot to do with him achieving it.

Nina tells Peter it’s crazy, weird, and certifiable. He says it was for her. He thought she’d enjoy looking at it; remembering things, and learning new ones. He reached out to her mother and Aunt Liesl (aka Obrecht) . They’d saved tons of mementos, but he got most of it from her mother. Nina thinks it’s a load of crap, and is going to call Obrecht to confirm it.

Robert tells Anna that her plan screams trouble. She says she won’t break their agreement. She won’t tell Henrik that she’s really his mother, she’s just using that to draw him out. Robert asks what if he kills her first? She says she’ll just pretend for an instant, and then show her badge. He says her badge isn’t bullet proof. Anna tells him she’ll explain that he needs to be tested for Huntington’s disease. Robert says, so she’s just giving him a message, then going on her sweet way? She says he’s her son; she can’t just leave him like this. Robert says there lies the trouble he mentioned earlier.

Nelle apologizes to Lulu, saying she knows she made mistakes, and made life difficult for those Lulu cares about. She hopes Lulu will accept her apology, and she’s able to make amends one day. Nelle leaves to get a seat, and Dante asks Michael if everything is okay. Michael says they’re gearing up for the baby. Lulu says they’re here for whatever he needs, including a BS detector. Michael just wants everyone to get along, and Lulu promises to try for him.

Sonny asks if Carly is sure she’s up to do this; she can’t stand the Quartermaines or Nelle. She thinks she can handle a few hours. She tells Sonny that she’s not in a good place, and he asks why; is she seeing things? She can’t explain it, but she’s under stress, and can’t take more medication than what she’s supposed to. Sonny suggests she let Josslyn represent her at the shower and send a gift, but she’s not letting that snake win and paint her as a bad guy. She doesn’t care what Monica thinks, but she does care about Josslyn. She knows Morgan is dead and not coming back. She’s accepted it, but she’ll be damned if she’s letting Nelle alienate her from the son and daughter she has left. She’s going. Sonny gives her an envelope that arrived earlier. Carly takes out some paperwork, and says, she actually went through with it. Sonny asks who, and she says, Nelle.

Dante asks Lulu what’s going on in the world of journalism? She asks if he’s been reading her articles. She thought they’d agreed not to talk about work. He asks if she’s tried to contact Henrik, but Josslyn interrupts.

Michael sits with Nelle, and she says interviewing the doctors made it real. It’s exciting – and terrifying. She already feels for the baby, and Michael says that’s a good sign. She tells him that she found a lawyer to draw up the papers, and his parents probably have them by now.

Carly explains to Sonny that the papers are to make them legal guardians if something happens. She says that Nelle had second thoughts about Jason, since his life is up in the air. She wants the baby to have two parents, and a mother as fierce about her children as she is. She thought Nelle was blowing smoke, but she’s serious. Carly can’t believe that snake. Sonny thinks she needs to take a step back. From where he’s standing, it’s a good thing.

Chet tells Maxie that Nathen went distance to help with his medical bills. He made Chet look at himself, and he got clean. Maxie says Nathan would have been proud; all the Ask Man Landers insanity paid off. She congratulates him, and he says he should be saying that to her about the baby. She says she’s excited. Chet can’t imagine how hard it must be, but she says it’s easier knowing there’s a trust fund. She can’t thank him and Amy enough, and he says it’s the least they could do. She says it’s a thoughtful gift coming from a kind and generous place, as opposed to someone setting up a fund who’s not just anyone, but Nathan’s killer’s son. She’s going to give it back.

Peter asks Nina to hold off; he’s like to explain himself. Nina says she’s done with the stalling. Valentin shows up, asking if she’s done with work. She says, not quite. Her boss is lying through his teeth.

Maxie already knows that Nathan would accept it, saying the good outweighs the negative. She could go with that if it came from anyone other than Faison’s son. Chet asks how she knows he’s like his father? Maybe he’s looking for a way to honor Nathan, like he and Amy did. Maxie says that’s different; they’re friends. The gift came out of kindness and love. Chet says she doesn’t know the motives unless she asks, and in the end, does it matter? Its a chance to give back. Maxie admits she’s scared to not be angry, and have a place to put her pain and grief. Then what? Chet says she thinks it’s giving her strength, but it’s poison. Not until she lets it go will she feel the pain and loss, and find a way back to the good things again.

Nina tells Peter she didn’t know these things even existed, and he says that was the point. She goes through them; an award for a spelling bee, a letter from camp. Valentin says it does seem peculiar. Nina says it’s outrageous and intrusive. Peter is obsessed with Maxie, and finding a way to get close to her. Peter says that’s not the case, and Valentin says, then what is it?

Anna says she needs to have a conversation with Henrik. There’s a lot of speculation as to how complicit he was, and she wants to set the record straight. He should get the opportunity to expunge his record. Robert says, a fresh start? but Anna knows she doesn’t have the authority to make those deals. He asks, what about Jason? Henrik kept him captive. Anna says Henrik saved his life. She doesn’t want to argue. It’s all speculation, and he hasn’t been charged; he’s only alleged to have committed these acts in Russia. She just wants to give him a chance to explain. Robert says, no. She wants him to say he’s innocent.

Lulu tells Josslyn it’s well-written. The earthquake was dramatic, and Oscar’s take is insightful. Josslyn says it was in the school paper, and asks if Lulu could give it to the PC Press. She asks why not go through Drew, but Josslyn doesn’t think Oscar would like that. Dante asks if he knows she’s doing this, and she says not exactly, but she thinks would be cool. Dante says she’s so her mother’s daughter.

Michael tells Nelle that was fast, and she says she wants the baby protected. He asks if she thinks his parents are the way to go, and she asks if he doesn’t. He does, but what about her history with his mom? She says they’re going to be family now. The baby connects them, and whether they like it or not, they have to find a way to make peace. She’s showing she’s serious. Michael is glad she’s making an effort, and hopes his mom can do the same.

Carly is worried that Nelle is trying to slither her way back into their good graces, and use them to trap their son. Sonny says Michael knows that and won’t fall for it. Carly insists he doesn’t know that. Sonny asks who she would want to raise the baby, and she says, them, but they think they’re getting something when they’re just opening a door. Nelle has an agenda. She’s working an angle, but Carly hasn’t figured it out yet.

Josslyn tells Dante she is not her mom. Dante asks if Oscar wants it in the paper. Josslyn thinks it would be an awesome surprise. Dante asks if it matters what Oscar wants, and she says okay, she is like her mom.  Dante says if it ends up in the paper, to everyone on the outside, it might look like his father had something to do with it. It’s one thing to be goal oriented, but she should keep in mind that there are consequences for everything you do, intended or unintended. Josslyn respects his viewpoint, but says Oscar deserves it. Lulu says she’ll do her best. When she’s gone, Lulu says she felt like he was talking to her about unintended consequences. He wants her to be careful. She didn’t get hurt last time, but that doesn’t mean she won’t this time.

Michael leaves, and Josslyn tells Nelle they looked cozy. Nelle says they’ve been getting closer. She’s trying to prove she’s not the giant horror show Carly thinks she is. Josslyn says maybe her mom is warming up. They’re going baby shopping for the shower together.

Michael joins Carly and Sonny. He suggests that Carly is trying to see something that’s not there. Carly says that’s what Nelle wants them to think; they’re playing into her hands. Michael says he gets it; she’s playing them. He tells Carly this game has got to end. He gets it. Nelle hurt her, and she can’t stand that they’re having a child together. He needs her to back off.

Maxie tells Chet it’s a good thing we can’t look ahead see where we’d end up. Who knew in high school they’d end up where they are; the widow of cop and a wounded vet. He says life takes you to strange places, and Maxie adds, and you have no say. Chet asks if she’d change it. Maxie thinks for a moment, and says, no. The way it played out is the only way she’d have time with Nathan, and she has the baby. No matter how hurt and lost she feels, she wouldn’t trade it. What about him? Chet says after he was injured, he was angry. He was still alive, and his friends had been killed. He couldn’t stand to think about high school. Now, he draws strength from it. It beats being sad about how it turned out. Maxie says he’s right. She’s going to forget where the money is coming from, and focus on where it’s going. Nathan loved helping people, and would want her to do the same.

Peter tells Nina that he barely knew her or Maxie, and he witnessed their grief. He wanted to help. Maybe it was for him too, because he didn’t save Nathan. He’s sorry she’s upset; it’s the last thing he wanted. Nina says she’s taking the folder, and tells Valentin, let’s go. She tells Peter to stop using her brother to look good in front of Maxie. Valentin tells her to go ahead. After she leaves, Peter tells him to forego the lecture. Valentin says he just has an update. The plans for Robert are in motion.

Anna asks Robert what parent doesn’t want to see the good in their child. She wants him to be able to without Faison’s legacy. There are no charges against him, so she won’t be getting into trouble. Robert asks what about stealing five years of Jason’s life. He can’t see Jason not bearing a grudge. He thinks she’s lying to herself. She says Jason won’t listen. He’ll just find Henrik and kill him. Robert says then she’s leading Henrik’s assassin right to him. She says that’s not going to happen. She respects Jason and vice versa; she can handle it. Robert gets a text. He says it’s a case that’s been dogging him for months, even though he’d like to delegate it. She says she has this, and to go. Robert tells her to keep him updated. He leaves, and she begins to type on the laptop.

Maxie visits Peter’s office. He says he was worried about her. She says she went to Nathan’s grave to talk to him. Peter asks if she got any answers. She says a friend did. She could swear he was sent by Nathan, so she’s going to accept for Nathan and the other grieving families. Peter asks why she’s starting to come around; what convinced her? I space out while she’s saying something about friendship being like a sliver of light, and she feels the baby kick.

Nina looks through letters and photographs, telling Valentin that Nathan was a reindeer in the school pageant. He says his childhood might have been cold and harsh, but he didn’t have brother to lose. Sh’es had more than her fair share of pain. She says, him too. He says he has something to take care of, and asks if she’ll be okay. When he leaves, she makes a call to Obrecht, asking about Peter.

Michael tells Carly it’s good news that Nelle wants her for a guardian, if it comes to that. Carly hopes it won’t. She insists Nelle has an ulterior motive, and is working him; it’s just a gesture. If she tore up the papers, they’d never hear about it again. Michael takes the papers and rips them, saying he’s calling Nelle’s bluff. If Carly is right, he’ll let it go, but if he’s right, she’ll get new papers. If she does, he’d like it if they both accepted that Nelle is being genuine. Carly has a headache, saying it’s a side effect of her medication. She leaves to get some Ibuprofen, and Michael say the harder she pushes Nelle the worse it gets. It’s best to move past what happened. Sonny thinks Nelle is winning him over, but Michael is just asking him to try for the baby’s sake.

Dante tells Lulu if Henrik contacts her, he wants to know first. She wishes he wouldn’t give Peter a hard time. She feels awful, and hopes, if time passes, Maxie will come around. Dante does too, and she says for once, they’re all on the same page. Dante gets up, and Lulu gets a text from someone saying they think they’re Henrik’s mother (presumably, Anna). Dante asks, what’s up? Is she chasing a big story?

Josslyn finds Carly at the MetroCourt, and asks if she forget something. Carly realizes she’s supposed to be shopping with Josslyn, and Josslyn says Nelle brought her – to get a present for her own baby shower. Carly says time got away from her, and Josslyn says it’s not like her. Like with Avery in the park. Carly says that’s totally different. Josslyn says it seems like there’s something going on, and asks if there’s something Carly isn’t telling her. Carly says things are crazy and she’s off her game, but everything is getting better. It’s going to be okay.

Nelle joins Michael and Sonny. Michael tells Nelle it’s lame to take someone to get a present for your own shower. She says Josslyn was excited about the pop-up store, and she didn’t want her to miss out.  Michael is glad, and Sonny says he is too.

Dante says he’s proud of Lulu, despite his reservations. She says she feels the same about him. She looks at the text again.

On the phone, Nina tells Obrecht that she’s grateful she preserved Nathan’s childhood, and knows she misses him. She does too. When she’s done, she calls Curtis, and tells him to call off the investigation.

Peter asks Maxie if the baby kicked, and she says it was a full body roll. He can’t imagine what it’s like, and she puts his hand on her stomach. She says it’s not the same, but he can feel it. He starts laughing, and asks if she can believe an actual person is in there. She keeps wondering if the baby will be like her or Nathan, and Peter suggests a little of both. He can’t wait to meet him or her. Maxie says makes two of them.

Anna thinks back to Valentin telling her that she was afraid of ever letting go if she saw the baby.

Robert is on a plane, having a cocktail and getting sleepy. Valentin sits across from him, and says he hopes Robert is enjoying the drink. He tells Robert, nighty-night.

On Monday, Olivia has something to boost Ned’s outlook, Stella suggests a lawsuit, and Carly feels strongly about a fitting tribute.

🍜 On MasterChef: Junior Edition (aka MasterChef Junior), the kids had to cook for Junior alumni at a pop-up restaurant, with the pressure test being designed by the winner of season five. I missed that part, but came in to Gordon dressed like Mrs. Doubtfire, and Christine and Joe backing him up dressed as old ladies who weren’t Mrs. Doubtfire. It was like a grandmathon, where the contestants prepared dishes inspired by their grandmas, and the winner getting a visit from their grandma. The next challenge presented the young chefs with four different whole fish, and previous winner Quani got to choose who got which. This was the beginning of the end, as only three would be going on to the finale. The first ever eight-year-old, Avery, was one of the chosen, and told those leaving tonight that it wasn’t goodbye, but see you later. Wise, for one so young, and she can cook.

💍 Because I can never get enough of 90 Fiancé, tonight, I went down Danielle and Mohamad Memory Lane with a repeat of The Full Story. If you haven’t been introduced to this delightful pair, in a nutshell, Tunisian Mohamad traveled across the world to Ohio to marry halfwit Danielle. One look, and it’s doubtful he’d be interested, but he seems harmless enough, and genuinely glad to be there with her. Until she loses her job. Having immediately acclimated to the culture, Mohamad consulted a lawyer, finding out that not only would he be responsible for half her debt if they married, it takes a helluva long time to get a green card. Waiting until five minutes before the wedding, he decided to go through with it, but it was downhill from there, with Mohamad going on a never-ending business trip to Miami, posting pictures with many hot women on social media. There was an eternity of Danielle flip-flopping between getting an annulment, where Mohamad’s happy ass would go back to Tunisia, and a divorce, which would let the citizen chips fall where they may. In another last-minute move, Danielle’s lawyer basically told her she couldn’t afford an annulment if Mohamad fought it, which he intended to do. So divorce it was, although that didn’t stop Danielle from harassing Mohamad even after it was over. He disappeared after the reunion – called The Couples Tell All in this franchise – and was never heard from again. I’m still checking the headlines.

More infuriating than anything else, is my indecision on who I find to be the worst of the two. Mohamad, who so obviously did not come here because he loved Danielle, or Danielle, who was so obviously deluded. He would play the let’s-stay-friends card, then disappear, only to be seen on social media with hot women. She would convince herself that if she could just talk to him, he’d give her the happily ever after she wanted. It was no, just no, from the beginning, but she never saw that. It’s possible, had she not lost her job, he might have stuck around longer, but she was never going to make it happen. It was also clear pretty quickly that she was not that bright. It was like watching Groundhog Day, but without Bill Murray, and totally humorless. He would ghost her, she’d fall apart, then decide she could talk sense into him; she’d tell him she was getting an annulment, he’d meet with her and promise they could stay friends, she’d see his social media posts; rinse and repeat. They were equally awful. And I can’t wait for the new season, starting May 20th.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sam asks Curtis what he’s looking for in Peter’s office.

Elizabeth sees Drew at the hospital, and asks why he’s there. He’s looking for Franco; he has something to tell him. Elizabeth nosily asks what, but Drew asks if she’d mind if he didn’t tell her. He asks how she’s doing, and she’s concerned about Franco. He’s doing whatever he can to keep distracted. Anything and everything, except what he needs to do.

Franco works with a little girl in art therapy, as Doc watches. When she leaves, Doc says Franco is a natural. Franco says kids and dogs tolerate him. Doc found a support group, and thinks spending time with others who understand will further Franco’s recovery. Franco balks at the idea, and Doc asks if that isn’t what he wants. What he wants is to never look back. Doc asks how that’s different from running away. Franco says he’s spent more days than he can count not being able to look himself in the eye, how can he look at anyone else?

Sonny says it’s good that Dante is stepping up for his grandfather; it means a lot. Dante says keeping Mike calm only goes so far. Sonny will have some tough decisions to make about Mike’s care going forward. Diane says he’s charming one minute, and obnoxious the next. Given his erratic behavior and the abduction charge, the judge might consider him a flight risk, and Sonny has the resources to spirit him out of the country. Diane is working on it, but Sonny needs to prepare himself for the fact that Mike might not be coming home tonight.

Ava tells Nelle she’s not liking how Griff is acting. She wishes she could fast-forward to when she has full custody of Avery. Nelle says she needs to be strategic and cautious. Ava says Sonny might get payback, so what?

Anna tells Finn that she hopes Robert wasn’t too overbearing; he comes on strong at first. Finn admits he did attempt to confiscate Robert’s cronut, and there was a misunderstanding. Anna wants to talk to him about something.

On the phone, Valentin tells someone to all him, and says they have more to worry about than they realize. Robert strolls into the living room, and Valentin asks how the hell he got into the house. Robert says he knows his way around the place, and loves what he’s done with it. Valentin says it’s Robert Scorpio in the flesh – and in his house. It’s odd they’ve never met, although he’s heard a lot about him from his ex-wife. Robert says it feels like they’re old friends.

Curtis tells Sam that she busted him. He’ll know what he’s looking for when he finds it. Sam asks who hired him? If he wasn’t Drew’s friend, she’d be calling the cops. Is it corporate espionage, or is there something they don’t know about Peter?

Elizabeth tells Drew that Franco wants to skip the hard parts, but it’s not realistic. Drew says he and Franco talked in the car before he confronted Jim. Franco felt horrible for lying to her. She’d said she didn’t think he was born bad, and he keeps wondering how he could be worthy of her trust. She says Franco is already worthy. He’s carrying residual pain and self-doubt, and who knows when he’ll find his way though it. Drew says Franco has a lot behind him and in front of him. He can’t believe he’s saying this, but with her by his side, Franco will see his way through.

Franco says the last thing he wants to do is sit in a basement reliving the worst moments of his life with other people doing the same thing. Doc says they’re survivors. He didn’t cause or invite the abuse; there’s nothing to be ashamed of. No one thinks any less of him for being abused. Franco says they might think less of him for not stopping Jim from targeting anyone else.

Diane says they’ll get a statement from Mike’s doctor. Sonny says his doctor is Ava’s boyfriend; no way he won’t be bias. Dante says Griff was a priest, but Sonny says he left the priesthood for Ava. They don’t know what he’ll say.

Nelle tells Ava to consider her options. Ava says she’s in a perfect position to strike, and Nelle wants her to back off? Nelle says she wants Ava to get everything she wants. She can go in, guns blazing, and win, but she could also lose. Ava says no way she’ll lose, but Nelle says she could lose Griff. Ava knows him better than she does, but will he be okay with her using an old guy who’s his patient as a hostage? Ava says he’d never forgive her. Nelle tells her again to consider her options.

Anna never wanted to put Finn in danger, but it she used it as a convenience to put distance between them. He asks what she wants him to do.

Valentin says Robert and Anna have a similar annoying habit of showing up in his house uninvited. He can come back with a warrant or get to the point. Robert shows him a picture of the conundrum box, and asks him, what about this? Valentin says it appears to be a box. Robert asks if that’s not the Cassadine crest, and Valentin says it’s a matter of public record. He doesn’t see what it has to do with his family or him. Robert says it was found in Faison’s belongings.

Curtis says he’ll tell Sam everything, except who his client is. Drew is his homeboy; no way would he be involved in corporate espionage. He’s investigating Peter. Sam asks why, and he says something is missing from dude’s background. She asks what, and Curtis says, his background. Aside from the impressive resume and diploma, there are no records. He’s either a fake or a ghost.

Lucy sees Drew and Elizabeth. She says she hopes she’s not interrupting, but doesn’t really care if she is. She asks if they know what time of year it is. Drew says it’s time for sponsorship, and to give his office a call. He makes his escape, and Lucy says she loves when everyone rallies around the Ball. She asks if Elizabeth is going to grace the stage this year.

Franco tells Doc that he made a list of Jim’s victims, and has been carrying it around ever since, thinking what if he’s stopped Jim? What if he’d told the truth to Betsy? They wouldn’t have gone through it. Doc says he was a child; no way he could have taken on Jim. Neither could anyone else. Franco asks what if one of them is in the therapy group, and realizes what happened? That it didn’t have to happen. He could have stopped it, and Jim got a pass because he was too scared to do anything.

Diane says, assuming Griff gives an accurate description of Mike’s condition, it would go a long way. That’s the upside. The downside is that certain defendants, who are in organized crime, have used mental illness – dementia, in particular – along with doctors who are cooperative. Every time they talk about this, I get a mental picture of Vincent Gigante in a bathrobe. Diane says, given Mike’s connections, they might ignore the diagnosis. Sonny asks what if that happens, and Diane says they have to show his incompetence on the stand. Sonny asks if she wants him to humiliate his father in open court. Dante says another option is to give Ava full custody.

Anna tells Finn that Robert barged into her hotel room; she’d been working with Jason and Emma. Finn calls them, eclectic companions. She explains that it was a research mission. Jason was posing as their bodyguard, but he’s also looking for Henrik. They agreed work together. Finn asks why, and she says the WSB wants to question Henrik. Finn says, that’s not what he meant; why is she working with Jason? She’s more than capable herself, and there was no danger, or she wouldn’t have brought Emma. He asks if she’s back in the blackmailing business. She says she has to work with Jason. She can’t let him get ahead. He’s discerning for a hitman, but hard to stop. He regards Henrik as a threat. He has his reasons, but she can’t allow him to move in on the target. Finn says if Henrik is Faison’s accomplice – Anna corrects him, saying alleged – he’s culpable, so why is she responsible? She says this is what she wanted to tell him. He tells her to just say it, and she says she isn’t the person everyone believes she is.

Robert tells Valentin that it’s a conundrum box. Valentin says he’s heard of it; a puzzle that can only be opened by the intended recipient or it self-destructs. Robert says they don’t know if there’s something valuable inside or if Faison was baiting someone to get killed. Valentin says he doesn’t know and doesn’t care; he never met Faison. If it was him investigating it, he’d be looking at Helena, since they worked closely. Robert says, good guess, but wrong. Valentin asks how he’s so sure?

Elizabeth tells Lucy that she’s sorry, but she can’t this year. Lucy begs, and Elizabeth says she’ll fully support the Ball and attend, but she feels emotionally exhausted. Parts of her life are fragile, and she has to focus on those. Lucy says she can only assume it’s about Franco. She was once in love with a man in torment, and knows what it’s like to hang on by your fingertips. Her advice is to hold on tight, because love is worth it.

Franco tells Doc that he wishes he’d never forced Jim to make the list. Elizabeth wants him to call them, but it’s the last thing he wants to do. He could have protected them and didn’t. He told her that he didn’t know how to find them, but did some research because he was curious. He found three of them, but doesn’t know what to say. Doc asks what if one of them called him? What would he want to hear? Franco never thought about it. Doc says there was at least one before him; he wasn’t the first victim. Franco says he could have been the last. Doc says he was four years old, and to look at it through the lens of a small child, where adults have the power. The adults failed him. He went out of his way to protect Drew. His actions made sure Jim never got to Drew. Doc calls him a master of deflection, but he won’t truly begin to heal until he believes he’s not responsible. Then he can have the life he wants and deserves. Drew pops in, and says he can come back, but Doc needs to be somewhere. He tells Drew that his timing is perfect.

Robert tells Valentin, according to the lab, the box was made in the last six months. Valentin suggests maybe it was Faison’s final break with reality. He has nothing to do with the box or Faison; he never met him. Robert finds that hard to believe when they were obsessed with the same woman. Valentin stutters that Anna has nothing to do with it.

Sam tells Curtis that Drew needs to know about any potential threat. Curtis knows the company is all Drew has left, and he’s not trying to pull it out from under him. Not until he knows for sure. Sam says, like it or not, she’s in on it, and she’s not keeping secrets from him.

Drew tells Franco that he has news. He’s not being charged for shooting Jim. Life has odd complications, but now there are fewer for both of them with Jim gone. He was worried Elizabeth couldn’t accept him, but she’s worried about him not taking the time to process. It takes time to heal. It took guts facing Jim down; it took character. He hopes Franco can deal with it, and that the life he wants with Elizabeth works out. Franco thanks him, and he leaves.

Sonny says, no way; that’s off the table. Diane says, according to Scotty, Ava feels differently. Sonny says, who cares? Avery has been shuffled around enough already. The last thing he’s going to do is send her to the woman responsible for Morgan’s death. Dante says as the arresting officer, he can testify that Mike thought Avery was his daughter. Diane says Dante is Sonny’s son, and Mike is his grandfather; they might not take his testimony. The only way to prove to the judge that there was no intention of a crime is to put Mike on the stand. Sonny says he doesn’t want to parade Mike’s illness for the world to see. Diane doesn’t want it, but is afraid that’s how it has to be.

At Kelly’s, Nelle asks if Ava wants to eat her feelings. Ava says she’s anxious; there’s been no message from Griff. She says he’s probably busy at work. Maybe he’s avoiding her, but too bad. She may never have leverage over Sonny again. Nelle asks if the whole point isn’t to get both. Will forcing Sonny into an all or nothing compromise get her what she wants?

Finn understands that Anna has to make hard choices, but she’s not talking about work; it’s her personal life. The truth is, she’s come to care about how he sees her. She doesn’t want that to change. She’s afraid for him to discover what she’s done. She couldn’t bear for him to look at her with the same disdain she sees when she looks at herself.

Robert says, that’s right; Valentin stutters. Valentin says he guesses they both talk funny. Apparently, Robert has read his file cover to cover, and memorized the important parts. It makes sense that he’d want to protect Anna, whether or not she welcomes the interference. Robert says that twenty years ago, Valentin was in Bern. Valentin says he’s been lots of places. By then, he was already in the private sector, and international contracts took him all over. Robert tells him to hang on to the picture; he’ll let himself out. Valentin asks if that’s before or after he bugs the house. Robert says he knows Valentin is more than capable of having the place swept. It was a pleasure to meet him. Valentin wishes he could say the same. Outside, Robert says, gotcha!

Sam tells Curtis she was planning on telling Drew she was stepping down, but she’s not leaving when Aurora and Drew are vulnerable. She’ll stay on while he finishes the investigation. She’ll watch Peter from the corner of her eye, while he digs into Peter’s past. Can he consider her a partner?

Elizabeth goes to the art therapy room. She asks how Franco is, and he says he’s getting there. Doc got him to thinking. He asked if one of the boys had the opportunity to reach out to him, what would he want them to say? She asks what his answer was, and he says he wouldn’t want to know. If it was over, he wouldn’t want to know. She hugs him.

Finn takes Anna’s hand, and asks if she’s okay. Lucy breezes in, and says she heard rumors, and guesses they’re true. She just had the best idea in the history of ideas. She asks if Finn dances. He says, not really, and she says, perfect. They should do a romantic duet for the Nurses’ Ball. Robert overhears.

Sonny says Mike is dealing with not being home, losing his girlfriend, and his illness. If he’s put on the stand, he’ll ramble and look weak. Answering questions from a stranger will make him look bad. It will confuse and shatter him. Dante says they’ll be with him, but Sonny says they’ll have no control when he’s in the chair. Even if he survives the questioning, Ava is relentless. She wants Sonny to choose between his father and daughter.

Franco makes a call. He says they haven’t met, but have something in common. There’s something he should know about a man named Jim Harvey.

Curtis tells Sam, okay, and they do a complicated handshake. He says he has the lead on this case though, and will run it how he sees fit; can she dig it? Ha-ha! I love the way Curtis talks. Sam wants to get to bottom of it as much as he does. He asks if he can go back to ransacking Peter’s office, and Sam says she was never there. She sees Drew in the hallway. He says, she’s back. Like he didn’t know.

Ava goes to the station, and says, good; Sonny brought his lawyer.

Lucy says it’s the perfect opportunity to put the spotlight on themselves, and Anna can’t get out the door fast enough. Lucy sits with Finn, and says she knows how exes are. The ones who’ve been over each other a long time, and don’t annoy each other. She asked Robert to dance, but he flat-out refused. Why doesn’t Finn let Anna teach him to dance? Finn says he won’t perform, but will do everything to support the Ball. He leaves, and Lucy looks dejected.

Anna and Robert sit outside Kelly’s. Finn sees them, and keeps walking. Robert says Valentin’s behavior confirmed what he thought. Valentin delivered her son to Faison.

On Monday, Valentin tells Nina they won’t find what they’re looking for, Curtis says jackpot! and Ava tells Sonny she gets full custody, or his father goes to prison.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Carly tells Sonny there’s nothing physically wrong with her. He says that’s good news, but she says, now he thinks she’s losing her mind. He tells her, he didn’t say that. She says it’s obvious. He doesn’t want to talk about it right now. She tells him that he doesn’t know what’s going on, and then when he does, he dismisses it, thinking she’s making it up. He asks, what other explanation is there?

Griff tells Ava that Julian is conducting a search in the Charles Street area. Ava can’t believe it’s come to this. Her last, best hope is the city’s good will toward her brother, who used to be Public Enemy #1. Griff says the PCPD is looking too, and Ava wonders where Jordan is.

Dante starts to leave the station. Chase says, like or not, they’re partners, and he’s coming too. Dante tells him to keep up and keep quiet.

Avery, who looks like she’s aged a year from last week, tells Mike to wake up. It looks like they’re in a stable.

Peter sees Lulu go into Charlie’s. He sends a text, and follows. He tells her it seems he can’t shake her. She says she was there first, so who can’t shake who? He says, fair enough, and asks if she wants to join him for lunch. She can’t. She’s getting food for Dante’s family; everyone was up all night. Lulu’s phone dings, and she says this could be it. The man claiming to be Henrik just got back to her.

Robert tells Anna that Emma is in the game room with some other kids. Anna says, good. She’d rather Emma not be there when they question people about Faison’s son. He asks what Anna isn’t telling him about this case.

A Swiss banker tells Sam that he’s pleased to meet her in person. She says she can only give him forty-five minutes, and walks in with Jason. Sam says she was advised to transfer some of her assets to Switzerland, even though she’s happy with her Grand Keys bank. He suggests Jason go elsewhere, but she tells him that her mother doesn’t allow her to travel without protection. Just pretend he’s not there.

Ava tells Griff that she doesn’t need more caffeine, so her empty coffee cup has chamomile tea in it. She says the waiting is torture, and thinks about joining the search. Griff says they’ll probably want her there when they find Avery – and they will. She knows he wants her to keep the faith, but sometimes prayer and faith aren’t enough, and it’s too little too late.

Mike wakes up, and asks what going on. Avery asks about the horses. He remembers they were waiting for them to come back. She says she’s hungry, and he says, him too. He bets everyone is wondering where they are. He suggests they find everyone, and tell them where they were hiding.

Anna tells Robert that Henrik might have been an accomplice or a victim, probably both. She knows the kind of havoc Faison can wreak on someone’s mind. He’s probably not fully culpable, and she has medical information he needs. Robert says she’s only talking about Henrik and Faison. She asks who else, and he says, her. He asks her to talk to him, but there’s a knock at the door. It’s a Mrs. Everett Ashton. Anna thanks her for coming. They have questions about a former student. She says she’s sorry, but she can’t answer any of their questions.

Sam tells the banker she wants to diversify her assets between several countries with different banking laws. She gives him a flash drive, saying all of her information was put on it. He needs a security code, but she says she can’t say it out loud. While she’s typing it in, she makes sure he’s distracted by her behind. Or posterior, as Anna might say.

Sonny asks Carly how he couldn’t be worried, when she left her responsibility for Avery to reminisce at a grave? She’s called him out when he’s been off his meds. She tells him that she isn’t on meds, and Dante traced the calls, but he says it could have been someone calling a wrong number. There’s no proof of anything. She says she knows what she saw. She saw the scarf, smelled his cologne, and saw the writing on the flyer. She needs him to believe that she’s not imagining it. He doesn’t think she is; he believes that she believes it happened. She says, but he doesn’t believe it happened. He wants her to make an appointment with Doc after this is over and Avery is home.

Dante and Chase go to the stables, and find Mike and Avery. Dante asks if Avery is okay, and Mike says they must have lost track of time. Dante introduces Avery to Chase, and tells him to take her to the station. Chase makes a big deal about her riding in the police car. Mike wonders what’s going on, and Dante asks if he remembers meeting Chase. Mike says Chase threw him in jail, but Dante says they met another time, and they’re buddies now. Mike wouldn’t go that far. Dante is staying behind to talk to Mike. Dante tells Mike that he gave them a scare; they didn’t know where he was. Mike wishes everyone would keep their noses out of his business. He says where he takes his daughter is for him to decide, and Courtney wanted to see the horses. Dante says she’s not Courtney; she’s his granddaughter Avery. Courtney died a long time ago. Mike insists she was there. Is this man going to make me cry every time he’s in a scene?

Lulu tells Peter that she decided to follow up on the first email. She thinks it’s the real Henrik because it’s the same email address PK Sinclair uses for his correspondence with the publisher. She can trace it and find him.

Anna asks if Mrs. Ashton will hear them out. She says she thought they wanted advice regarding a prospective student, but she sees what’s going on, and it’s not the first time. Robert asks why she thinks they’re there, and she says many past students have become prominent figures, but she makes it a point never to engage with journalists. Anna says they’re not journalists, but Mrs. Ashton says the rule still applies. Anna shows Mrs. Ashton her ID, explaining they’re with the WSB, and a former student is a person of interest.

The banker tells Sam that he her investments are somewhat limited in scope, and they could accommodate her. She says her number one concern is security, and he says theirs is state of the art. Spinelli walks in, and the banker says it’s a closed meeting. Spinelli says they haven’t been properly introduced. He’s The Jackal, and dude and his bank are at his mercy.

Carly can’t believe Sonny wants her to see a shrink. Someone is messing with her, making her doubt herself and making everyone else doubt her. Sonny thinks they should be on the safe side after everything she’s been through. She says he thinks she’s losing her grip on reality. He says it’s not the first time. She had a breakdown before. When they thought Michael was dead, she had a delayed reaction. She realized she needed help, got it, and got better. He doesn’t want her to have to go away again. He needs her there in the present when Mike gets home. Her phone rings, and Carly says, thank God. She tells Sonny they’ve found Avery, and she’s okay.

Griff knows hope and faith aren’t in Ava’s tool chest. She says that’s putting it mildly. He starts to talk about when you lose hope, but Ava hears Chase coming back. She runs out of the room, and picks up Avery. Avery tells her that grandpa took her to see the horses.

Dante asks if Mike remembers the nice chat they had when he was arrested. He told Dante stories about the old neighborhood and they talked about the Yankees. They agree that the only reason there are other teams, is so the Yankees can beat them. Mike told Dante one of his first jobs had been cleaning stables at a racetrack. Mike says he admired the horses. They weren’t the Rockefellers, so cleaning up was the only way to get close to them. Courtney loves horses too, but they can’t afford lessons, so he should take her someday. Dante says that sounds like a great idea, but he looks tired and pained. Mike asks to go home.

Anna tells Mrs. Ashton that they think he attended school, and was a member of the Julius Caesar cast. Robert asks to talk to his colleague for a moment. He asks what Anna thinks she’s doing now? Anna says now Mrs. Ashton will answer their questions, but he’s concerned she’ll blab. Anna says after all these years, he should trust that she knows what she’s doing. He says he does, so he knows she’s off her game. This case starting to get under her skin.

Sam asks the banker, what was he saying about the security? He wonders how Spinelli got past the facial recognition, and Spinelli says state of the art is no match for him. He tells the banker the silent alarm has been deactivated, but will look like it’s still on. The banker says they’ve never been robbed, and Sam says, until today.

Spinelli sits at the computer and taps away, saying no matter how money is hidden, it still leaves a trail. He sees that the banker has done a lot of embezzling. He’s sure the people he’s stolen from will be happy their money has been found in his personal accounts. The banker says he can’t. Spinelli says he can and will, unless the banker cooperates.

Anna tells Robert that she’s a seasoned operative. She’s had years of experience, and knows what she’s doing. Mrs. Ashton asks if they’re playing good cop/bad cop. They’re both so polite, she can’t tell. Robert says he’s the good one. Anna says they were trying to find a loophole, so they could share more information with her, but they can’t. They can tell her that they don’t mean any harm, and aren’t out to ruin anyone’s name, but they need to question the former student on an urgent matter. She believes he was using another name at the school, and asks if Mrs. Ashton remembers Henri Françoise. Mrs. Ashton says she wishes they’d said so at the beginning. She’s certain he’s done nothing wrong. Anna shows her the photo, and asks which one he is.

Peter asks Lulu if she can really trace the email. She tells him when Spinelli tried, he hit a dead end, so it’s probably untraceable. He asks what her next move is, and she says he wants to meet up with her to share his side of the story. She’s going to take him up on it.

Sonny and Carly arrive at the station. Griff says checked he checked Avery out, and she’s fine; just a little dehydrated. Sonny asks where his dad is, and Chase says Dante stayed behind with him. Ava says they were apparently there all night, and they need to have a discussion about his father. Carly takes Avery to get some water. Ava tells Sonny that she was willing to look the other way when Mike vandalized the gallery. Sonny says she blackmailed him into letting Avery spend the night. She says they need to make sure Mike doesn’t do something like this again. Sonny asks what she’s suggesting. Mike walks in.

Spinelli says The Jackal has the banker’s information – the money he embezzled, how he spent it, and where he hid it. He sees that he also did some trophy hunting and killed two endangered species. Sam says that’s disgusting, and Spinelli makes an anonymous contribution to the World Wildlife Fund out of the banker’s account. He wonders what other charities could benefit. Jason reminds him that they still need to find Henrik.

Mrs. Ashton points out Henri. She says he was a handsome young man, always shy about being photographed. Anna wonders why a shy boy would take on such significant role, and Mrs. Ashton says the theater was safe for him, and where he was most comfortable to emerge from his shell. She thinks he relished becoming someone else, with a new name and identity other than his own.

Peter asks if Lulu is having second thoughts. She wants to meet with Henrik, but after what happened last time, doesn’t know if she should go by herself. He’s not wanted for a crime, but he is a person of interest. She thinks she should bring in the PCPD sooner rather than later. Peter asks what’s wrong with that, and she says she hasn’t told her husband what she’s up to yet.

Mike wants to go home. Chase says they’re good on their end. Avery says something about the horses, and Mike says he and Courtney waited all night. Ava asks who’s Courtney, and Carly explains she was Mike’s daughter and Spencer’s mother. Ava realizes Mike thinks Avery is his daughter. Dante gently explains again that it’s Avery, and Mike says, oh, right. He wants to lie down, and Sonny tells Avery let’s go home. Ava says, absolutely not.

Spinelli sees that the payment for the book has already been deposited, and sent by a wire transfer to Iceland. He says Henrik is very thorough in covering his tracks. He says Henrik’s picture is there, and everyone gathers around the computer. Sam looks puzzled.

Mrs. Ashton says, If she had to guess, Henri enjoyed being other people because his home life was troubled. He dreaded going home, and begged them to let him stay. His father had no use for him, and she could never rid herself of the impression that he would have been happier with a loving mother. She says he was a special boy. They thank her for her time. Anna asks if she might have any class photos, but Mrs. Ashton says she never held on to those. Anna asks if there’s anything physical she remembers that set him apart; something that would have distinguished him. Mrs. Ashton says he had the most emotive brown eyes, which was what made him so effective on stage.

Peter is surprised by Lulu, and not in a good way. She never struck him as someone who needed to ask permission. She says she doesn’t need permission, but wants to make him aware and persuade him. She’s not sure now is the right time with Avery missing, but she’s concerned Henrik could go underground. Who knows when she’d get another shot? Her food comes, and she thanks Peter. He tells her to be careful. Henrik could be more dangerous than she’s giving him credit for.

Anna tells Robert the meeting was productive. Now they know he has brown eyes; that narrows it down. Robert says, that’s if he’s the same person. She’s sure he is. He says it’s time to tell him the truth. What is the case really about? She tells him if he wants to help, help; if not, don’t. He asks what the child really means to her.

Ava says Avery is not going home with the man who kidnapped her. Chase says he’ll question him, but Sonny says his father didn’t kidnap Avery. Ava says she was gone overnight; what else would you call it? Griff understands, and shares her concern, but Mike didn’t mean any harm. She knows Mike isn’t well. Ava says that’s her point. Avery isn’t spending one more night under the same roof. Avery is coming home with her.

She and Sonny have a stare down.

On Monday, Robert realizes Henrik is Anna’s son, Michael tells Nelle he’s optimistic, and Spinelli tells Sam if she touches something they’re dead.

🍳 I watched the second hour of MasterChef Junior, and unfortunately missed the eggs Benedict challenge. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite things in the world, but I’m sure I wouldn’t have learned anything, unless there’s a new way to order them at a restaurant. I came in at the tail end of the next challenge, where eight-year-old Avery’s superb cake won her immunity. While she went to the balcony, chocolate chips literally rained down on the rest of the junior contestants, since the next challenge was chocolate oriented. A golden apron was the prize, as well as a definite spot in the finals. Avery was given the option to forego her immunity and join in, but she thought better safe than sorry. Mikey got the gold, while Anthony and Cade were out for bad cream puffs and overpowering cocoa, respectively. Anthony told us that he was going to keep his head up and keep on cookin’. Well said. Next time, the young chefs will be cooking for now older alumni.

Just in case you’ve been under a rock, lost your internet like me, or just want to brush up before Sunday night. I watched them tonight, but still have to edit. Unfortunately, that pesky thing called sleep is getting in my way.
