What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts, recaps, and the whole GH enchilada on Fridays)

General Hospital

Anna asks Jason, are we going to talk about that kiss or what? and he asks if she wants to talk about it. She says, no, but she thinks they should.

Josslyn walks into Bobbie’s and asks if Lucky is hurt. Were they robbed? He says, no, and she says, who did this… He did this? Why? He says he got some bad news, and she says, so he trashed her mom’s business? The family business? He says, Joss… and she says she’s glad he recognized her, because she sure as hell doesn’t recognize him.

Kristina tells Alexis that she had to pull some strings to see her after hours, and Alexis asks if she’s okay. Kristina says she’s good. She moved back home. Dante helped and Diane came by. She wanted to make sure Alexis was okay. Alexis says she had a lot of visitors today. She and the guard bonded, and she has an entertaining cellmate, Heather Webber. Kristina says, she’s a psycho, but Alexis says, Heather gives her cred with the other inmates. Is Kristina really okay? Is she seeing her postpartum counselor? Kristina says she filled out the paperwork, but she’s having trouble focusing because of Alexis being here.

At Pozzulo’s, Natalia says, the roll out projections are doable and within budget, but Sonny says, not now. Sit down and relax. Natalia says she doesn’t have much time, and he asks if she’s got a date. What’s going on? She seems stiff. She says she’s being professional. She thought they agreed to leave it that way. He said his personal life was complicated and she thinks it’s best if they stick with business. He says, the last thing he wants is for her to be uncomfortable, and she says, that’s the problem. When she’s around him, she’s too comfortable.

Carly checks herself in her compact mirror and knocks on Jack’s door. He says, the lady is prompt, and she asks if this is her raincheck. He says, indeed it is, and invites her in. Elaine approaches, taking a photo with her phone and says, gotcha.

Josslyn asks, what’s going on? Is Lucky drunk or something? He says, not yet, and she says, her mom could have him arrested. He says he doesn’t care, and she asks if he sees the sign. It says, Bobbie’s. They renamed it after her grandmother and his aunt. He says he knows who she is, and she says, this place was renamed to honor her, and this is what he does. He says, add it to his family’s tab, and she says, if this is how he treats his family, she wants nothing to do with him. Jason risked his life to bring him back. Why isn’t he helping Lulu instead of throwing a tantrum? Lucky says, it was a wasted trip, and leaves. She says, nice. Leave her here to clean up the mess.

Anna tells Jason that the kiss stays in Africa. It was an isolated incident and will never happen again. Jason says, understood. Anything else? She says, yes. Brennan had so many questions about him. Brennan was surprised she trusted him as much as she did. He asks if it scored him points, and she says, unfortunately, yes. Brennan was impressed and wants to recruit Jason. He does not want to get involved with the WSB. He says, it’s not going to happen, and she says, he should probably get some rest. He says, like her? and she says, yeah, like her. She goes to the door, and he tells her to take care of herself. She says she will. She’ll see him around. She leaves.

Carly thanks Jack and says, he went above and beyond for her family, and he suggests they keep it on the DL. She says she won’t forget everything he did – the intel, the plane, the drone strike.  Jason and Lucky are alive because of him and she owes him big time. He says, her gratitude is all the thanks he needs, and she says, comping the dinner is the least she can do, but he says, that’s unacceptable.

Natalia tells Sonny, forget she said that, and he says that he likes that she’s comfortable around him. What’s the problem? She says she works for him, and it blurs the lines, and he says he respects any boundaries she sets. She says, there’s that old world charm. His personal code, honor and respect. He says he respects her, and she says, he’s a decent guy. She knew that from the beginning. Any other time under different circumstances… He says, if she waits for the perfect time and circumstances, she’ll be waiting forever, and she says, he might be right. He says he’s always right. What would her perfect circumstances be? She says, probably spending more time with him and getting to know him better, and he says he would like that.

Alexis asks if Kristina is sure nothing happened. She’s here late. Kristina says, nothing happened. She’s just been walking around, going through the motions, and thinking it isn’t fair. She has to do something. Alexis says she has a good attorney and together they’ve come up with a strategy she thinks will get her out. Kristina asks what it is, but Alexis says she can’t tell her and needs her to not be concerned. Kristina says, that’s difficult. Alexis is in here with a serial killer roommate and she’s getting advice from Diane that she needs to get her own lawyer. Alexis asks what Diane said, but Kristina says, nothing. She doesn’t want to upset Alexis. She just wants Alexis to focus on herself and not protecting her. Alexis says she’s a mother and protects her girls, but Kristina says she created this situation and needs to be the one to take responsibility for it.

Josslyn hears someone come in, and she says, sorry. They’re closed. Dex walks in with Officer Matthews, and Matthews says, they got a call that a crazy guy busted up the diner. What can she tell them about that?

Lucky goes to the coffee warehouse and Jason asks, what’s going on? Lucky says he needs Jason’s help getting back to Africa, and Jason says, when? Lucky says, as soon as he can arrange a flight. He needs a passport. Sidwell took his. Jason says, Lucky can’t be donor? And Lucky says, he’s a perfect match, but the choices he made caused him to not be viable to save his sister.

Carly says, Jack is refusing to let her comp the meal? and he says, she heard correctly. Her phone rings and she sees that it’s Felicia. She ignores the call and says she didn’t mean to offend him. She just wanted to say thank you. He says he accepts her thanks, but doesn’t accept that she owes him anything. She says, he saved Lucky and Jason at her request and he doesn’t want anything in return, and he says, he doesn’t want them to be a transactional relationship. He has plenty of those. She doesn’t owe him anything. He pours the champagne and hands her a glass. She says, he did an extraordinary thing for her family, and all he wants is her gratitude? He says, gratitude is overrated. There’s so much more to her that he’d rather have. (I swoon.)

Alexis tells Kristina, don’t do anything to interfere. It will just complicate things. Kristina says, doing nothing doesn’t work for her, and Alexis says, do it anyway. Kristina says, fine. She’ll do it Alexis’s way.

Sonny asks what Natalia’s perfect scenario of them spending time together involves. Reading spreadsheets or something more personal? She says she’s fine with both. They’re both adults and capable of communicating what they need personally and professionally. He asks, what’s wrong then? and she says, he’s a man with specific business connections and affiliations. He says, she’s not referring to coffee or cosmetics, and she says, no judgement, but his complicated connections come with a lot of trouble. He says, and she doesn’t want trouble, and she says she should know better, but she guesses she doesn’t.

Josslyn says, her mom owns Bobbie’s, and Matthews says, the guy did a number on the place. Is she okay? She says, it was just a misunderstanding, and Matthews says, destruction of property is against the law. She says she’s embarrassed to admit it, but it’s a family thing, and he asks if she wants to file a report, but she says, no. They’re not pressing charges. Dex says, if they don’t, they can’t file an insurance claim, and Matthews says, the rookie needs the practice. Josslyn says she’s sure he’ll catch on. There’s not much damage. Dex asks if she’s sure, and she nods. Matthews says, if she changes her mind, stop by the station. He tells Dex, let’s roll, and Josslyn thanks them.

Lucky says, a parasite, some microscopic organism he didn’t know about, is keeping him from saving his sister. Now she’s going to die because of him. Jason says he’s sorry, and Lucky says, he and Anna nearly died getting him back and it’s all for nothing. Jason says, he’s not doing anybody any good by jetting. Doesn’t he want to see Laura? Lucky says he doesn’t want to see the look of disappointment in her eyes. He was never good at goodbyes. Jason says he understands, but the people in Lucky’s life need them – Aiden, Elizabeth… He can get Lucky the cash and passport, but take it from someone who just got back, both times he left his family, there was no chance to say goodbye and it devastated them. Lucky says, now they’re good, but Jason says, anything can happen. Lucky says, he’ll only cause pain, but Jason says, he’ll hurt them more not saying goodbye. Elizabeth, Aiden, and Laura are strong. They’ll survive. The question is, can he?

Molly goes to Anna’s office, and Anna asks what case she wants to discuss. Molly says, John Cates, but Anna says, Molly knows she can’t discuss it. Molly is an ADA, and her mother is the defendant. Molly says she’s not asking Anna to share details. She needs Anna to reopen the investigation and arrest the real killer – Sonny Corinthos.

Sonny says, it’s Natalia’s call. He’s not going to push her to do what she doesn’t want to. Where they go from here is up to her. His phone rings, and he says he’s got to get this. It’s his lawyer. He’ll be right back. He goes into his office.

Carly and Jack clink glasses when her phone rings again. She says she has to get this. Her friend Felicia keeps calling. The doorknob rattles, and outside Elaine pretends to be trying to open the door with her keycard. Felicia peeks at her from around the corner, and Jack tells Carly that he needs her to move right now. She goes to the suite hallway, and Jack opens the door. He asks if he can help Elaine.

Kristina walks into Pozzulo’s and asks if her dad is here. Natalia says he’s in his office on the phone. How is she doing? She looks well. Kristina says, looks can be deceiving. She’s hanging in. Natalia says she supposes that’s all they can do. She and Kristina’s dad can finish tomorrow. She needs to get going. Please let him know she left him the paperwork. She thought Kristina would want to know that Allison is doing great on tour. She’s spoken mostly with her tour manager and Brook, but the audience attendance is fantastic, and she’s hit her stride. Kristina says she’s not surprised, and Natalia says she’s seen clips from the tour, and Allison has blossomed. She’s a star. Kristina says, she always has been, and Natalia says she thought Kristina might want to know. Kristina thanks her and says she wants Allie to be happy. Natalia says, Allison wants the same for Kristina. Good to see her. Take care of herself. She leaves and Sonny comes out. He and Kristina hug, and she tells him that Natalia said she’d talk to him tomorrow. She left these. She hands him the paperwork, and he asks if she ran Natalia off. She says, actually, they had kind of a nice moment, and he asks what brings her by. She says she saw her mom in Pentenville and they’ve got to get her out.

Anna says, Molly knows this is inappropriate, but Molly says, not more than arresting her mother for a crime she didn’t commit. Where’s the justice in letting her take the fall for Sonny? Anna says she has no evidence and the evidence they have points to Molly’s mother, who did herself no favors by not being forthcoming. Molly says, that doesn’t mean she’s guilty, but Anna says, the FBI is prosecuting the case. She doesn’t think she could stop it even if she wanted to. Molly asks if she’s saying they won’t look at Sonny if there’s concrete evidence, and Anna says she doesn’t have any and Sonny has an alibi. Molly says, when Sonny was charged with Claudia Zacara’s murder, Carly perjured herself. Doesn’t Anna think she’d do it again? Sonny assaulted Dex and when Cates provoked Sonny’s hated by attacking Kristina, he signed his own death sentence. Sonny was at the Quartermaines when Cates was murdered and has the motive, means, and opportunity. There’s got to evidence. They can’t rely on the FBI, and she needs Anna to find it.

Carly says she can’t talk, and Felicia says, she’s being tailed. That elegant older woman with the pint-sized pooch is a P.I.

Jack tells Elaine that she’s got the wrong room, and slams the door. He tells Carly, that Park Avenue doyenne is a P.I., and she asks how he can tell. He says he can always tell, but is she here for him or for Carly? Carly says her. That’s the reason she can’t be seen with him right now. He says, the WSB is at her service.

Lucky says, before he left, he was destroying his life. He was shredding Elizabeth, and he could see he was destroying her. Jason says, so he stepped back, and Lucky says he stepped off. He remembers Luke used to disappear sometimes. He said it was his time to reflect and get in tune with himself. He didn’t understand when he was a kid, but now he realizes Luke wanted to keep his own demons away from them. It worked, so he followed suit. He tried to convince himself that by doing good in the world, he could maybe make up for the wreckage he left here. Jason asks if it worked, and Lucky says he thought so until Jason and Anna showed up. They told him about Lulu, and then that’s all that mattered. He was hoping maybe it would be the redemption he was searching for, but he already made his choices, and now Lulu is going to die because of him. Jason says, he doesn’t know that for sure, and Lucky says he let everyone down and it impacted the family. He saw Rocco’s eyes and he’s not wrong. He doesn’t deserve to be here. Jason asks if he thinks his family deserves a hasty exit, and he takes an envelope out of a desk drawer. He puts it on the desk and says, there’s 10 grand. It should do for now. Lucky is the only one who can make the decision. If he thinks it’s really the best thing, then go. Lucky asks what Jason thinks he should do. Should he stay?

Anna says, Molly just wants Sonny to be guilty because she’s angry with him, but Molly says she wants justice. Anna says, for Cates or her baby? Molly is human and can’t not hold Sonny responsible for some part in the baby’s death. Molly says, because Kristina went to Ava because she didn’t want to testify against her father. She probably wouldn’t have gone if she hadn’t seen him attack Dex. Maybe Anna can file charges for Sonny’s assaults on Dex and Cyrus. Anna says, Molly was reluctant to follow through on that, and Molly says, she’s right. She’s just as complicit, but they can use that now to establish a pattern of Sonny’s violent behavior. Anna says, the FBI took the case, and Molly says, to hell with the FBI. Take back the case and investigate Sonny. Or is all of Anna’s talk about justice and the law just talk? She walks out.

Kristina tells Sonny that Alexis tried to convince her that she’s fine in Pentenville. Heather is her roommate, and she considers the guards her friends. She’s getting too comfortable. Sonny says he understands that she’s worried, and Kristina says, of course (🍷) she is. She’s going to come forward to the police. Sonny says he doesn’t think that’s a good idea, and Kristina says she won’t involve him, but he asks if she’s going to tell them where she found the gun. She says she can’t be helpless like this, but he says he and her mom agree on it. She says, the only time they agree is about her and cleaning up her mess. Not this time. She’s going to take accountability. He says, Diane called. Her mom’s trial is in three weeks. She says, that’s not enough time to prepare, but he says, a lot can happen in three weeks. She asks, how, if she doesn’t do anything, and he says, her mom appreciates her loyalty, but Kristina can’t fix this, or they’ll have to clean up that mess. They’re going to fix this, but it’s going to need time to fix. Kristina says, this is because of her. It’s her fault. Sonny says, it’s not. Jagger did this to himself. She didn’t do it. Kristina says, okay. He’s right. Cates and Ava did this.

Jack asks if he can have a raincheck, and Carly says, if he can get her out without being spotted, she’ll give him all the rainchecks he wants and her undying gratitude. Jack says, deal. Give him a two-minute head start. He leaves and sees Elaine. He asks if she still can’t find her room and says he’ll escort her to the lobby, and they’ll take care of it. He steers her down the hall, saying, he had a dog when he was a child. A border collie named Perceval… Felicia calls Carly and says she’s in the clear, and Carly says, meet her at Bobbie’s and she’ll tell Felicia what’s going on. Felicia says, see her soon, and Carly leaves.  

Dex comes back to Bobbie’s and asks if Josslyn needs a hand, and she says, aren’t you supposed to be working, rookie? He says he told Officer Matthews that it would be a contribution to society if he helped her clean up, and she asks if it worked. He says, no. Matthews knows they’re together. Off the record, who did this? She says, her cousin Lucky. He just got back from Africa, and she was so pissed, she didn’t realize that Anna and Jason brought him back to help save Lulu. She needs a liver transplant, and he was her best bet as a donor. Dex asks if she thinks it had to do with that, and she says, based on his reaction, she doesn’t think going happen anymore. She was horrible to Lucky, and she didn’t have to be.

Jason says he can’t tell Lucky whether to stay or go. It’s not his call. His circumstances were different. Lucky says, he has insight, but Jason says he can’t give Lucky the answer he’s looking for. Lucky says, understood, and takes the envelope. He thanks Jason for the loan and says he’ll pay him back someday. He leaves.

Dex says, Josslyn must be some kind of saint not to be upset, family or not, and she says, it was a shock. But she realized as she was cleaning, she was right about Lulu. Lucky was devastated and needed a release. This was the only safe place for him to do that. Any place else, he’d be arrested. Dex says, there’s still time, and she says, thanks. Molly comes in and says she didn’t realize they were closed. Josslyn says, they had a little accident, but it’s fine. Come in. She can’t cook anything, but she can get Molly a drink or a sandwich. Molly says she’d kill for an iced tea, and Josslyn says, she’s got it. Molly sits down and Dex says, long day? She asks if there’s any other kind. Don’t worry. It’s not a crying on his shoulder day. He says he’s got two. Everyone needs a friend sometimes. She asks why they’re closed, and he says, long story. Josslyn comes back with three iced teas and says, on the house. To better days. Molly says, cheers to that.

Carly meets Felicia and thanks her for the save. How did she know that woman was a P.I.? Felicia says, they go way back. Elaine is old school, but she’s good, and that dog will outlive us all. Carly says, thank God Felicia spotted her, and Felicia says, Elaine asked about Carly, and she realized Elaine was tailing her. Carly says she owes Felicia big time, and Felicia says, for the record, Jack Brennan’s not worth it. (Oh yes, he is.) Carly says, he’s a high-profile guest of the hotel and needed assistance, and Felicia says, don’t say she didn’t warn her. Carly says, thanks, but it’s not necessary, and Felicia says, Carly has a bigger problem. They need to figure out why someone is having her tailed in the first place.

Jason goes to Sonny’s office and says, Sonny wanted to see him? Sonny says, Alexis’s trial is in a couple of weeks. If she goes to trial, Kristina won’t be able to handle it and he’s afraid she’ll do something to protect her mother and hurt herself, unless they find the gun Alexis got rid of. Jason says, it doesn’t look good, and Sonny says, then he’ll have to take the fall. Jason says, okay. Somehow, the cops have to come into possession of the gun Alexis tossed. (Yeah. I never thought of this before, but why don’t they just throw another gun in the river?)

Anna looks through the file on John Cates’s murder, when there’s a knock at the door. Kristina come in and Anna asks if she can help her. Kristina says she wants to help Anna. She has information about the night John Cates was killed.

Lucky kneels in the chapel and says, it’s been a while since he’s talked to God like this. He doesn’t know why. He guesses he doesn’t like to call on Him for the small stuff, but this isn’t small. It’s his sister. I’m begging You, please Lord, just save my sister. And if You can’t for some reason I don’t understand… I’m going to need help to live with it. He’s made so many mistakes and hurt so many people. He just wants it to stop. He doesn’t want to cause any more pain. So if You’re listening, I could use some guidance right now. And I’m pretty desperate, so I’ll take whatever You’ve got. Laura walks in and says, Lucky?

Tomorrow, Kristina wonders why she’s getting the feeling Anna doesn’t want her to talk; Martin says he has the key to Alexis’s salvation; Carly tells Sonny that she’ll go down with him; and Jason says he should have killed Cates when he had the chance.

🎼 On the Road Again…

This is a real shame. I’ve loved the scenes with Marshall and Curtis. It’s always like watching a play. And when he had the scenes with fantasy Irene, it was magic. I’m just going to say it, as much as I love GH, they do a disservice to both the Black and gay communities. Their roles always start off strong and then are minimalized, and there’s rarely a follow through in the romance department. Actually, as far as gay characters go, there’s never been a follow through. I’m still bitter about Kristina and Blaze. And I’m straight. I can’t imagine how gay fans feel.

🧂 Salty Not Sweet…

My takeaway points, followed by the link to a full recap below – including a photo of Bronwyn as a hot dog! Heather and Whitney were in some kind of Laverne and Shirley world being in Milwaukee. Meili, Britani, and Lisa went ice curling, while the others went to the beer caves, which looked like a lot less work. Mary never had beer before and discovered she liked it, calling Miller High Life regal. Frankly, I prefer Molson or Corona, but TBH, I don’t think I’ve ever had Miller. Britani said she was done with Jared after she found out he’d been texting her brow girl. I continually forget that Jared is an Osmond. Not that it makes a difference to me, but it’s like dating Prince William in MormonWorld.

Laverne and Shirley stayed at the caves to crack open some Blue Moon, while the others went to the Milwaukee Inn to hear about Milwaukee hauntings. Mary talked about her dad’s association with Dahmer again, and in Bronwyn’s interview, she said, nothing could top Mary’s stories. In Mary’s interview, she said she hoped her dad wasn’t making it up. Heather told Whitney that people were saying she was white labeling jewelry from China, and in Whitney’s interview, she said there was a social media account saying she got her jewelry from Alibaba. It was f***ed up that Meredith had gone back to her old tricks, digging up dirt, and instead of calling her, Meredith was going to everyone else. We flashed back to Meredith spreading gossip about Angie being in the Greek mafia, and Heather suggested Whitney talk to Meredeth at a better time, like, maybe not at dinner, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen.

They took a party bus to the Harley Davidson Museum, and Whitney decided the bus was the better time. After a dust up on the way there, they had dinner at the museum, which had been opened just for them. IMO, this seemed like a really stupid idea. I wouldn’t want to eat sushi while gazing at the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum. Seeing the first motorcycles from over 100 years ago was pretty cool though. In Bronwyn’s interview, she said, it took the Harley Davidson Museum to bring out the classy side in these ho’s. No surprise, it didn’t last long, since Whitney brought it up again at dinner. Lisa insisted on getting involved under the guise of helping out, no matter how many times Whitney told her to stay out of it.

After that, it was on to Trixie Mattel’s bar, This Is It! The women dressed for the occasion, but Bronwyn outdid herself in a Moschino hot dog that Mary said was not fashion, but a costume. Mary might be right there, but it wasn’t out of line for a drag queen bar. The place looked super crowded, like, literally wall to wall people. As much as I’d love to go there, my idea of fun doesn’t include standing in a long line to stand in a crowd. And how the hell do you get to the bar? Hopefully, it was just like that because the Housewives were in town, although I don’t think I’m going to find myself in Milwaukee anytime soon. The group got onstage and had a dance off, but I didn’t see much dancing. In Heather’s interview, she said, they made all of their Milwaukee dreams come true and did it their way. Laverne and Shirley would be proud. I’m not so sure about that.

💣 Outlaws In the House…

I’d started watching the first season of House of Villains and was surprised at how much I liked it, but I drifted away before the end. I decided to give it another go, mostly because there was nothing else going on in that time slot, and I do love host Joel McHale. Teresa Giudice leads the pack, and while I’m not a fan of her on RHONJ, she’s going to make a great villain. Although, according to her, she’s not a villain. She’s just a loud Italian and passionate. In her interview, she said she’d done a lot of competition shows and listed all of two – The Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars. There were two beds in the rooms, and I’ll be damned if I’d share a room as a grown-ass woman. One of the greatest villains of all time, Richard Hatch, is also a cast member, and I wondered why I thought he was dead. Even more shocking was Larissa Lima from 90 Day Fiancé, who looks nothing like herself anymore with a totally new face and gigantic – and I mean gigantic – boobs. New York is in the house as well, and I’m definitely a Tiffany Pollard fan. The best quote of the night came from Safaree (Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta, which I’ve never seen). Upon hearing there would be ten people in the house, he said, if there’s ten people and four of us, eight more are coming. I hope his day job isn’t in finance.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Jordan comes into the hospital and asks Laura how Dante is. Has she heard anything? Laura says, not yet. He’s still in the OR. Jordan says she knows how hard this is, but Dante is in the best possible hands here. They couldn’t ask for a better surgical team. She just spoke to Anna. The search for Dante’s shooter is ongoing. They found a few key pieces of evidence and they’re following up. The FBI is also involved. Olivia says she hopes they find the monster that did this to her son, and he’s locked up for the rest of his life, and Sam says, the doctors are doing everything they can for Dante, and they both know how stubborn he is. He’s going to fight this. Olivia says she knows. She’s just got to keep the faith. She thanks Sam for being there for her. She’d be falling apart if it wasn’t for her. But what about Sam? Who’s holding her up? Laura says, they all are, and takes Sam’s hand.

Brook finds Chase, and he asks what she’s doing here. It’s late. He told her that she didn’t have to come. She says, Dante’s her stepbrother. She’s known him for her entire life. She’d be here even if she wasn’t engaged to Chase, but she is. She can see he’s really worried about his partner, and when he hurts, she hurts. They hug.

Drew lets Carly into the Quartermaine mansion and thanks her for coming so quickly. She says, of course (🍷). She came right over. He says, Dante is still in the OR. Everyone’s gathered at GH and he’s watching the boys. Has she heard from Sonny? She says, no. She reached out, but she doesn’t want to push him and Olivia. Is there anything she can do here? How are Rocco and… Danny says, Rocco, what the hell? and the boys come out of the living room, Danny with a handheld game. Danny says, Rocco threw it so hard, he cracked the screen, and Rocco says, bill me, and keeps walking. Drew tells Danny not to worry about the game. They’ll fix it. Danny says, it’s just a stupid game. Rocco’s really hurting. He doesn’t want to deal with this. He just wants his dad.

Spinelli sits down and tells Maxie, it’s impossible. He’s alive and working against Sonny? She asks, who exactly did he see on that screen? He says he saw a dead man walking, and she asks what he’s talking about. He opens the laptop, and she says, oh… my… God. We see the shot of Jason, and she says, it can’t be, can it? He says, pixels don’t lie.

Ava says, it’s him, isn’t it? It’s Jason. Sonny says, it looks like Jason, but it’s a picture. Any digital footage can be manipulated. Why would he believe this is Jason?

Carly says she’s sure Olivia is relieved that Leo’s away with Ned right now, and Drew says, Ned had a business trip in Australia and Leo was out of school, so he took Leo to see the Great Barrier Reef. They’re on their way back after hearing the news about Dante. She says, so it’s just Rocco and Danny here with him and he says, yeah. He’s really worried about them. Rocco is an emotional kid. He wears his heart right on his sleeve. She says, what about Danny? and he says, Danny just pretends he doesn’t have any feelings at all. His phone rings and he asks Sam, how’s Dante? Sam says, he’s the same. She was just checking in to see how the boys are doing. How’s Danny? Drew says, he’s doing his best. He’s trying to hang in there for Rocco’s sake, but it’s not easy. She asks how Rocco is doing, and Drew says, he needs a hug. Sam thanks him for staying there. Help is on the way.

Sam asks if she can talk to Laura for a second and Laura says, of course (🍷). They step aside, and Sam wonders if she can ask Laura for a favor. Laura says, anything, and Sam asks if Laura can leave.

Brook asks if she can get Chase anything. When was the last time he ate? He says he doesn’t need food. He needs to feel like he’s doing something. He should be out there looking for whoever shot Dante. Jordan joins them and says, Anna thinks he’s too close to the situation and she’s right. Let her handle this. He’s right where he needs to be. Chase says he just feels so helpless, pacing around, not doing anything. He needs to feel like he’s helpful. He’s going to donate some blood. If Dante doesn’t need it, maybe somebody else will. He asks Brook to call him immediately if she finds anything out, and she says she will. He leaves, and Brook says, Jordan’s been in law enforcement a while. Jordan says she was, and Brook asks if she was ever in a similar situation; a partner or someone she’s close to got shot in the line of duty? Jordan says, more than once and it was a nightmare every time.

Maxie says, Jason’s alive. He didn’t die on Cassadine Island. Spinelli says, clearly, he survived the tunnel collapse, and she says, how? And if he’s alive, why didn’t he come home? He says, it makes no sense. Jason would never willingly stay away from… Someone knocks at the door and John says, FBI. They have a search warrant. Spinelli hits a key on the laptop, then unlocks the door. John comes in with another agent.

Ava says, that was her first thought too, this has got to be some kind of deepfake, and Sonny says, that’s the only thing that makes sense. She says, Spinelli verified it. It’s live footage, directly from the drone camera. It hasn’t been doctored. It’s real. He says, if that’s true, not only is Jason alive, he was at the warehouse tonight working with the shooter. She says, and Sonny was the target, which means his best friend is now his enemy.

Oliva wonders why they don’t have an update yet. What the hell is taking so long? Sam says, it’s a complicated surgery. Not having an update isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Olivia says she knows, but she’s going out of her mind. She just wants to know what’s going on in there. Sam says she was thinking about what they were talking about earlier, how Olivia said how strong Dante was and how much it took for him to come out of that PTSD. He did that for Olivia. He came back to her. Olivia says, Sam had a lot to do with that, and Sam says she’s still here and Dante is still here. And he’s a fighter. He’s not going to give up now.

Brook tells Jordan, Chase is a cop. She’s always known that, and she’s always known intellectually that what he does is dangerous, that he’s taking a risk every time he goes to work. Somehow, she convinced herself that he’ll be safe. That nothing will ever happen to him. Chase has always said Dante is the best cop he’s ever known; he’s smart and prepared. So if something like this could happen to Dante, then… Forget it. This is about Dante. This isn’t about her paranoia. Jordan says, she was right when she said Chase’s job carries risks, but if she has questions about that, then she really needs to talk to him. Brook says, Chase is in no condition to deal with that right now. He’s focused on Dante, and she doesn’t want him to misconstrue what she’s asking. He might think she doesn’t support him being a cop. Jordan says she gets that, and Brook says, Jordan was in the line of fire, putting her life on the line while her family was home, waiting to see when or even if she’d return. How did she make that work? Jordan tells Brook that she just said it. It’s work. And to be completely honest with Brook, her relationship to Curtis failed in part because she tried to compartmentalize her job from him, and it only drove them apart. Brook says, it sounds like she has some regrets about that, and Jordan says, it’s water under the bridge now, but her advice to Brook is, learn from her mistakes. Let Chase know that he doesn’t have to shield her from the risks of his job, but at the same time, Brook has to be honest with him. Don’t withhold her feelings or lie about her fears by denying what she’s feeling.

Drew says, it’s good to see Laura, although it would be nice if it were under different circumstances, and Carly asks if there’s any word on how Dante’s doing. Laura says she wishes she had some news for them, but when she left the hospital, he was still in surgery. Drew says, hopefully, they’ll be getting some news soon, and thanks Laura for coming. He assumes Sam filled her in. Laura says she’s aware of the situation, and Drew says he made it a little bit easier. Carly says, Drew has been with both the boys since they found out what happened to Dante. He’s been doing great, but they’re two different boys, so they have two different needs. Laura says she’s happy to help them, so may she suggest they divide and conquer? She’ll talk to her grandson and the two of them can focus on Danny? Carly thanks her and the boys come back. Rocco says he heard her voice. Is his dad okay? Laura says, he was still in surgery when she left the hospital, but he has the very best team of doctors and they’re doing absolutely everything they can. She knows he’s old enough to know the truth. She guesses the truth is, his dad’s got quite a fight on his hands.

Spinelli says, it’s an honor to finally make John’s acquaintance. His reputation precedes him. John says he’s heard about Spinelli. Damien Spinelli, computer genius and known associate of Sonny Corinthos. Spinelli tells him, he wouldn’t say genius. He dabbles. John says, and she is? and Spinelli says, a friend who has no idea what’s happening. In fact, she was just leaving. John says, she’s here, so she stays. They found Spinelli’s cameras all over the warehouse at 257 Water Street. They were run through a lot of proxy servers, so they couldn’t get a trace, but fortunately, they were able to identify his DNA on the hardware. Spinelli mumbles that he should have used gloves, and John says, he seems like a decent guy and someone who’s smart enough not to ruin the rest of their life on this. He has no desire to fold Spinelli into Sonny’s problems, but he’s tracking a team of gunmen, and Spinelli is the best lead he has. So if Spinelli would kindly show him what’s on that footage… Spinelli says, as much as he would enjoy cooperating with the FBI, he regretfully cannot help him. He shows John a black screen that says the data is missing.

Sonny tells Ava, if the footage is real, that doesn’t make any sense. They’ve always had each other’s back. If they had a problem with each other, Jason would come face to face and tell him, not shoot him from a safe distance. Ava says she knows how he feels about Jason. He was like a member of Sonny’s family. That was no secret. A lot of people knew that, right? Maybe somebody is trying to use that to their advantage. Sonny says, Jason would never let himself be used against him. They’ve been through a lot. Jason wouldn’t do that to him. She says, then she guesses he’s got to ask himself something. Why hasn’t Jason come to him to warn him when he knows those people want Sonny dead?

John says, put it back, and Spinelli says, put what back? John says, whatever he deleted from the surveillance footage, but Spinelli says, he couldn’t if he’d wanted to. There was no time. Maxie’s been here the whole time. Has she seen him do anything? She says she doesn’t understand how any of this works.

Brook asks, how’d it go? and Chase says, good. He was able to donate some blood and clear his head a little. She says she’s glad, and they hug. He asks what he missed, when Portia comes out. Sam asks, how’s Dante? and Portia says, she’s being told that the surgery is going well, but there’s a lot of damage. Sam asks, how much damage? and Portia says, he has trauma to his heart and to his lungs. He also has broken ribs and sternum, but Dr. Erikson and his team are making progress and Dante’s vitals are good. Olivia says, so he still has a chance?

Carly asks Danny to hold up a minute, and he asks, what’s up? She says she just wanted to check on him. See how he’s doing. Danny says, he’s Rocco’s dad, and Carly says she knows, but he’s a big part of Danny’s life. It’s okay to admit he’s upset, and he cares. He says he’s fine, but he’s got a lot of homework, so… He starts to go upstairs, and she asks if anyone ever told him that he’s just like his dad.

Laura says she understands there was a little incident with a video game tonight, and Rocco says, Danny’s a jerk to whine to them about it. He didn’t mean to break the stupid game. She says, Danny didn’t whine about it at all. Danny’s worried about him and so is she. He says he’s fine, and she asks what video game they were playing. He says, she wouldn’t know it, but she says, he might be surprised. She knows more than he thinks. She’s actually somewhat of a Super Mario Brothers expert. The kids played it all the time when they were growing up, so one day she decided to have a go at it because she wanted to know why they liked it so much and she has to say, she ended up getting a little bit addicted. He says, how addicted? and she says, it’s not like anybody had to do an intervention for her, but she did play a lot. In the beginning, she didn’t know what she was doing at all of course (🍷), but she picked it up pretty quickly and has actually been known to do a few speedruns. He says he wants to see that, and she says, maybe they should play together someday. He says his dad is really good at video games too. Maybe he can play with them when he gets better. She says, they can talk about what’s going on with his dad if he likes. She’s here to listen. He says he doesn’t think he wants to, and she says, okay. She just wants him to know it’s okay to be scared right now, because it’s a scary situation. He says, Danny isn’t scared, but she tells him that she doesn’t think she would say that. He may not know how to show it, but she knows he’s scared. She is too.

Maxie shows Spinelli her handcuffs and says, anymore bright ideas? Also in handcuffs, he says, it worked, didn’t it? and she shows him her cuffs again. He says, John didn’t see him do anything untoward, so she’s in the clear. Just follow his lead and everything will be fine. John joins them and says, let him guess. Spinelli rigged his equipment with a kill switch just in case he got caught. Spinelli gives a blank look, and Maxie says, wait a minute. He’s John Cates, the one who used to live in Port Charles. John says, he is. Why? Maxie says she remembers how much her stepdad talked about him. He really likes John. John asks, who’s her stepdad? and she says, Mac Scorpio. He says, she’s Maxie Jones? Wow. It has been a long time. She says she’s sorry it took her so long to recognize him. Mac is out of the country, otherwise she’s sure Mac would love to see him. He respects John so much. John says, the feeling’s mutual, and Maxie says, so she’s sure he can understand, growing up with Mac as a stepdad, she’d never do anything to impede an ongoing investigation. So if he could just take these off, they can forget this ever happened. John says, how about this? She gives Mac his best and tell Mac that he’s sorry he had to arrest his daughter for obstruction of justice.

Sonny hands the tablet back to Ava and says, if it is Jason, he probably has a motive, has a good reason for doing what he’s doing. Ava says, maybe he’s counting on Sonny believing that. If Jason is involved in some plot to kill him, then Sonny giving him the benefit of the doubt would give him time to set another plan in motion. Until they have more information, they’re just guessing. He tells her that he has to go see how Dante is, and starts to leave, but she says, they were lying in wait for him tonight. Not so very different from what happened in Puerto Rico. And he said it has to be somebody on the inside. Somebody with an intimate knowledge of his property, his business, and who knows his operation better than Jason? He says, she’s not judge and jury, and she says she knows. Believe her. She doesn’t want Jason to be guilty. She’s just trying to figure out what’s going on. He says, that’s what he’s trying to do. It doesn’t add up. She says she knows. This mystery man behind the attacks, didn’t he go by the name Stone? And didn’t Spinelli often refer to Jason as Stone Cold? Jason never hesitated to pull the trigger when it meant protecting Sonny. What if he’s come back and he’s ready to use those same deadly skills and knowledge to take Sonny out?

Laura says, Rocco’s dad dedicated his life to helping other people. So many people’s lives are better because of what his dad does every day. Never forget that. Rocco should always be really proud of him. Rocco says he is. His dad’s the best. But what if… She says, we don’t know what life has in store for us. Sometimes bad things happen, as he knows, and when they do, the only thing they can control is how they react to them. He hasn’t given up hope of his mom waking up from her coma, has he? He says, of course (🍷) not, and she says, then how can they give up on his dad? He’s getting the best possible care at General Hospital. So what they need to do, the best they can do, is stay as positive as they can while they wait for the news. And she’ll be here for him as long as he needs her to be. He says he loves her, and they hug. She says she loves him too, so much.

Danny says, sometimes his mom says he reminds her of his dad, and Carly says, he’s more like his dad all the time, especially tonight. He asks what she means, and she asks if they can sit. They sit on the steps, and she says, it’s not that he doesn’t feel things. He just doesn’t want to show his feelings. And Jason was like that. If he let himself react, he was afraid he might lose control and might hurt himself or someone else, and he didn’t want to do that, so he would just shut down and he would be okay. He’d be the one to handle everything. Danny says, there’s nothing to handle. All they’re doing is waiting. She asks if he’s good at waiting patiently, but he says, not really, and she says, neither was his father. He says, that’s not true. Everyone said he could wait for something, no matter how long it took. She says, that was discipline. Jason wasn’t naturally patient. If anything, it was just the opposite. Jason’s first impulse was to run right at something. She guesses that’s why they got along so well, because that’s her first impulse too. He says, it does kind of sound like him, and she says she knows what it’s costing him to sit around and wait, but it’s where he should be. Because whether he’ll admit it or not, Rocco needs him.

Sam thanks Portia, who says, of course (🍷), and leaves. Sam says, Olivia heard Portia. He has a chance. Olivia says she’s sorry. She’s just out of her mind right now. It’s surreal. A couple hours ago, they were eating cake and laughing at Scout’s birthday party. Now, in the blink of an eye, her son is in there fighting for his life. Sam hugs Olivia.

Chase and Brook step away, and Chase says he appreciates Brook insisting on waiting with him, but it could be hours still. Go home. Get some sleep. She says she doesn’t want to leave, and he says he knows. It’s just… She says, it’s just what? Talk to her. He says, this isn’t what she signed up for. He chose this life. He knew the risks of becoming a cop. She didn’t choose this. He needs her to know that it’s not too late for her to say that this isn’t the life she wants. (He’s very sweet, but once again, a dude is telling a woman that she has no decision-making skills and can’t speak up for herself.)

Jordan tells Portia, Dante is a good police officer and an even better man. Being like this, waiting for word on a cop who’s been shot, she just can’t help being reminded of another late night when another great cop was shot, in the prime of his life, and he didn’t survive. Portia says, she’s talking about Nathan West. She never got a chance to meet him, but from everything she’s heard, he sounds like a remarkable man. Jordan says, he was, and she hates that he never got to live his life with Maxie, be a dad. Another hero cop gone too soon. Then again, everyone who puts on the badge and lives up to the motto is a hero in her eyes.

Spinelli tells John, Maxie had nothing to do with this. Do whatever John wants to him, but please, leave her out of it. Maxie says she appreciates Spinelli trying to save her, but if he’s going down, he’s not going down alone. She tells John that she and Damien Spinelli are a team, and Spinelli says, they are? She says, yeah, and Spinelli says, they are. And since John has no evidence against them… John says, because Spinelli deleted the file? and Spinelli says, no. John says, that’s only a temporary setback. They have experts too. (I have to laugh at how Spinelli and Maxie look like little kids being lectured by the principal.) Although it will take them a while, they will recover the footage he deleted. Then they will follow it to wherever or whoever it leads.

Ava says she knows it might be incredibly painful to even think that Jason might betray Sonny, but there’s an awful lot of evidence here. Sonny says, circumstantial evidence. There’s no way the man he trusted more than anybody in the world would stab him in the back. She says, try not to be emotional about it. Just look at the facts, okay? Before Jason left for Cassadine Island, there was a distance between them. Things had changed. They were tense even. Sonny says, they had disagreements before, and Ava says, maybe so, but all the evidence here leads to one conclusion. Somehow, Jason survived that tunnel collapse, he’s come back to Port Charles to settle a score, and Sonny is playing right into his hands.

📑 Okay, let’s look at other facts. Sonny hasn’t been hit despite three attempts. True, Curtis was mistakenly shot, but he wandered into the scene at the last minute, and it looks like Jason is more the supervisor. Would Jason have screwed up a shot three times?

Brook says, Chase is right about one thing. She had no idea what she was getting herself into when she fell in love with a cop. She’s scared to death every, single day that the next call that comes in about an injured officer could be him fighting for his life. Chase says he understands. It’s a lot to ask of someone and it’s not an easy life, so if she wants out… She asks him, who says she wants out? and he tells her that she just said that. She says she told him that she’s scared, and she is. But she also loves him too much to try and hide this fear from him. Or start their marriage by being anything other than completely honest with him, so she’s sharing this fear with him. If they’re going to be husband and wife, she wants to share everything with him, including her fear of losing him. So don’t tell her to go. Promise her that he’ll never tell her that. He says he promises, and hugs her.

Sam says, sometimes she wishes that Dante would have become an executive and worked for Drew at Aurora – Olivia laughs – or for Ned at ELQ. Olivia says, he would have hated every minute of that, and Sam says, then he could have learned a different trade. He could have been a mechanic or a plumber or something. Olivia says, all of his uncles were mechanics. All of them. He never had the feel for it. If you can’t figure out how to fix a car, you’re probably not going to have a lot of luck fixing plumbing. Sam says, what about baseball coach? That’s perfect for him. Olivia says, he would love that, and Sam says, see? Olivia says, but not as much as he loves being a cop. It means everything to him. It’s everything he believes in. She swears, when he told her that’s what he wanted to be, she burst into tears. She begged him, anything else. A paramedic… anything, but he was so sure, and he was so excited. He was so proud. What could she do? He’s her baby, so she gave him a hug. Sam says, there is no Dante the executive, or Dante the plumber, or Dante the baseball coach. She only said those things because the other thing makes her scared sometimes, but it’s Dante the cop, and she doesn’t think they’d have it any other way, would they? Olivia shakes her head and takes Sam’s hand.

Drew comes into the living room and asks how it’s going in here. Messing with her phone, Laura says, great. They’re just making a gaming date for when Dante is better so he can play with them. Rocco says, they’re going to let dad pick the game, so he has the best chance to win, and they laugh. Drew says, sounds like a plan, and Laura says, but it is getting late, isn’t it? How about if she brings Rocco home and he spends the night with her and Doc? Rocco says, does he have to? and she says, of course (🍷) not. Not if he doesn’t want to. He says he’d rather stay here, just in case Scout has a bad dream and wakes up scared. His dad would want him to take care of her.

John says, the two of them have given him no choice, and tells the agent to take Maxie and Spinelli into custody. Spinelli says, no, he can’t. Maxie has some young children at home. They need her. John says, this is out of his hands now (and I wonder if he’s having a hard time not laughing). He could call Felicia and let her know. Maxie says, no, no, no. Please do not call her mom. She doesn’t want her to worry. She tells Spinelli, although she does think her mom would be proud that they took a stand for one of their best friends. That guy in the footage saved their lives on more than one occasion. They should really repay the favor. John says, one of their best friends, huh? That sounds like somebody who has a lot of friends, someone who’s made a name for himself. That should narrow it down quite a bit. Thank you so much. He hopes their good deed gives them solace when they’re pacing around inside their cell. Spinelli says he made a copy, and John says, no kidding. Maxie tells Spinelli not to say another word. She looks at John and says she can handle whatever happens to her. Spinelli tells her that he has no doubt, but he won’t let the mother of his child be incarcerated for something he did. He tells John, there was a drone recording as it was circling the roof. The footage is in the back-up drive. John says, that wasn’t so hard, was it? and picks up the drive. He says he’s assuming this has got a password, and Spinelli says, does John think he’s an amateur? John says, just give it to him, and Spinelli says, fine. M-A-X-I-M-I-S-T-A. Maxie says, aww!

Sonny says, Ava makes a good argument, but it just… He can’t believe that Jason would be out to kill him. Ava says, well, okay. That settles it. He says, that’s it? She’s not going to keep giving him reasons why he’s cutting his own throat? She says, nope, and gets up. She laid out the facts as she sees them, and he believes in Jason’s innocence. Sonny knows him better than she does, and she trusts Sonny’s judgement. Sonny gets up, thanks her, and says he needed to hear that. It’s very hard for him to trust anybody right now, especially after what happened with Michael and Dex. He can’t even trust his own instincts right now. She says, he made it very clear that he trusts Jason, and he tells her that he didn’t say he trusted him 100%. She says, he just has to promise her something. He has to promise her that he’s going to be careful. Look both ways and all that. He says, if he didn’t know any better, he’d think that she actually cared for him.

Maxie says, Spinelli just gave up their friend to the Feds, but Spinelli says, he has full faith that their friend can take care of himself. She says, obviously, but she’s never seen Spinelli be anything but loyal to him. He says he had good reason for his actions tonight. Doing this keeps her out of jail. She’ll be able to live her life and be with the kids. They need her. And no matter what happens to him, he’ll be happy knowing that. Because she’s not just the mother of his child, she’s the woman he loves. They kiss.

Drew helps Laura on with her coat and thanks her for coming. Rocco seems to be a little bit better after talking to her. She says she feels better after talking to Rocco. She actually thinks it’s a really good sign that he wants to stay here and look after Scout. Sometimes the best way to help yourself is by helping somebody else. They say goodnight and Laura leaves. Carly comes downstairs and says she just looked in on Scout. She’s sound asleep. Drew says, she’s probably worn out from her birthday party. It was only a few hours ago. Carly says, it’s crazy, and gets her coat. Drew helps her on with it, and she says, they’re going to have a huge celebration when Dante gets out of the hospital, but until then, she needs to get home and just relax. He thanks her for coming. It really helped with Danny a lot. She says, just remember, no matter how he acts, Danny feels things just as deeply as the other boys. Maybe even more. He kisses her and she leaves.

In the living room, Rocco looks at a photo of Dante on his phone. Danny sits next to him, and Rocco scoots over so their shoulders are touching.

Portia says, Dante’s out of surgery. They’re moving him to the ICU. Sam says, that’s great news, and Olivia says she wants to hug everyone who was in the room with him right now. Brook says, their prayers worked, and Chase says, they sure did. Portia says, Dante is still in critical condition, but the doctors believe they’ve repaired all the damage. Jordan says, then there’s a good chance Dante will recover, and Portia says, let’s get him through the night, but this is a huge step in the right direction. Chase says, Brook has been holding him up. What can he do for her? Just name it. She says, take her home, and he says, she’s got it. Olivia says she told Sam that he was a fighter. He’s hanging in there just like they knew he would. They hug.

John looks at the footage, and the other agent asks what he’s going to do with Damien Spinelli. John says, time will tell. They got what they wanted. And now they’re going after Jason Morgan.

Ava says, of course (🍷) she cares about Sonny. He’s Avery’s father. Her little girl would be lost without him. He says he’d be lost without her too… Avery, and Ava says, of course (🍷). He moves closer to her and says, remember when he told her that it felt like she was the only person he can trust? She says she remembers, and he says, wouldn’t it be funny if that were true? It looks like they might kiss, but we have to wait.

Tomorrow, Sam has good news; Nina says, Ava knows more about this than she’s telling; Dex tells Michael and Willow that they do know something about the person who shot him (presumably Dante); and Sonny tells Diane that they’re going to find out who did this and take care of the situation.

General Hospital

At the Port Charles Heliport, jump instructor Denice tells Gregory that they have to get going before the sun goes down. Otherwise, they’ll have to cancel the jump. Is she coming? People cancel all the time. Gregory says, she’ll be here, and a man says, they’re losing daylight, when Alexis comes running up. She says she’s here, and the man asks if they’re doing this. She says, yes. She’s a woman of her word. She’s doing it. Even if it kills her.

Spencer knocks on Trina’s dorm room door, and she answers wearing a robe. He says, she’s not dressed for a party, and she brings him in, kissing him. He says, good point. What party? She says, they’re going. She just needs two more minutes. He says, that’s a big ask, and she says she’s sure he’ll be fine. Entertain himself. He picks up a magazine and flips through it, then sees a letter that’s been opened. Trina asks if he can zip her up, and he says, of course (🍷). If he must. She turns around, and he says, she looks perfect. So who is writing her from the Sorbonne? She says, he wasn’t supposed to see that.

Esme waits in the visitor room at Pentenville (?). Heather – our New Year’s gift! – joins her and says she knew Esme would be back.

Sonny goes to Nina’s office, and says, the party’s about to start, but she says she has to get these end-of-the-year bonuses done. She’s so sorry. It’s just a magazine; business is very difficult. Their team managed to keep their numbers up with online revenue, and she needs to show them that she appreciates them. He says, they’re lucky to have a kind-hearted boss, and she says she thinks he’s a teensy bit biased in her favor. He says he’s finding out what it means to be married to a generous, thoughtful woman, even though he’s not sure what her priority is tonight.

On the phone at The Savoy, Carly tells Sam, it’s okay. The flu is going around. Just give her love to Scout, and she and Dante take care. And happy New Year. Michael joins her, apologizing for being late, but she says, that’s okay. Where’s Willow? He says, she got stuck covering at GH. There’s a lot of callouts. Carly says, it’s the flu. Sam just called. Scout has it, and she and Dante can’t make it. He says, that’s unfortunate. So… She says, it looks like it’s just the two of them.

Olivia comes in with Lois and Ned, and she asks if it reminds Lois… What’s that place in the city they used to sneak in… Lois says, Area on Barrett Street. She can see the resemblance. Ned tells them to get a table while he gets the drinks. What would they like? Olivia says she’s a Cosmo girl tonight, and Lois says, champagne for her.

Carly says, it’s already New Year’s in Australia, and Michael says, it’s a shame Drew’s trip got extended. She should be celebrating with Drew, not him. She says, what about him? Willow’s at work. He’s spending New Year’s with his mother. They’re a pathetic pair, huh? He asks if she wants more champagne, and she says, yes, so he leaves to get it. She gets up and calls, make it a prosecco, please, when Ned passes by. She says she’s been waiting to talk to him, but he says he really doesn’t have time for this. She asks if he’s been busy since he got his memory back. Because ever since he pointed the SEC at her and Drew, and Drew went to prison, she’s been meaning to ask him a question. How would he like her to return the favor?

Nina says, Sonny is her priority – always. She promises she’ll hurry up and meet him way before midnight. He says, don’t worry about it. He was just being sentimental. She says, of course (🍷). It’s their first New Year’s Eve together as husband and wife. She wants to be with him too. She’ll leave this here and come in early tomorrow. He says, no. She’s going to wrap that up and she’s going to meet him at The Savoy. They’re going to have a midnight kiss… They’re going to have so many New Year’s Eves together. She says she likes the sound of that, and they kiss.

Heather says she knew Esme wouldn’t be able to stay away from her forever, but why is it today? Doesn’t she have plans for New Year’s Eve? Esme says, not really, and Heather says, there’s something different about her. Did she change her hair? Esme says, no, and Heather says, well, something’s different. Anyway, how’s her little grandbaby Ace? Baby’s first Christmas. She bets he got loaded up with presents from all those rich people, right? Esme says, probably. She doesn’t know. He spent the holidays with Spencer and Trina. Heather says, she’s always been cagey on the details when it comes to Ace. Now Esme is telling her that she let him spend his first Christmas without her? And that look just now on her face when she said Trina’s name. That’s not remorse. That was contempt… Oh, she remembers, doesn’t she?

Trina tells Spencer that one of her professors told her about this art program at the Sorbonne, and she just applied on a whim. She got waitlisted, then she got accepted. Let her just grab her bag. He says, wait a minute. This is a massive opportunity for her. She says she knows, but she can’t go. Not with Curtis about to start his treatment, and she’s really excited about her spring classes, and then there’s him. She’d miss him so much. He says, he’s going to miss her too (um… it’s not like he has a job; he could go), and she says she can travel when she graduates. Paris will always be there. She can wait. He says, this opportunity at the Sorbonne won’t be. She has to go. She has to do this.

Denice says, since this is a tandem dive, Gregory and Alexis will each share a harness with their instructor, and the instructor will release the parachute. Any questions so far? They need to get going. Alexis says she has a question. Did Gregory tell them about his recent stay in the hospital? Gregory says he did, and his doctor signed off on this. It was pure dehydration, that’s all. Alexis tells Denice that she’s done an extensive search on Denice’s safety records with this organization. Alexis knows pretty much all there is to know about her, but she doesn’t know much about the harness. Is it safe, and when was the plane last serviced? Denice promises to answer those questions on the way to the plane, but Alexis tells her that she just wants to say, the gentleman who showed her how to do everything seems very nice and very capable, and she thinks she’ll be safe enough with him. Denice says, that was Dan. He’s gone for the day. Alexis will be fine with Falcon. There he is. Falcon looks like the drummer in a rock band, and Alexis says, no. Gregory says, why don’t they switch? She’s already familiar with Denice. They’ll be fine. Alexis says, no. She’s sorry. Every molecule in her being is telling her not to jump out of that plane. Please forgive her. She said she could do it, but she can’t. She just can’t.

There’s a knock at Nina’s office door, and she says, come on, Sonny. She needs more time than that. She’s not a miracle worker. Cyrus walks in, and says, oh ye of little faith.

Olivia asks Lois, what was the name of that Russian place in Brighton Beach? Talk about dicey. Good vodka though. Hello? Is she talking to herself over here? Lois says, Olivia might have a problem, and Olivia tells her to forget about the secret and just have some fun, but Lois says, no. Look. They see Ned and Carly arguing.

Ned says, Carly wants to send him to prison? Take her best shot. Except he didn’t actually commit a crime, unlike her and Drew. She says, Drew was nearly beaten to death in prison, because of Ned. Ned has to live with that, but if he doesn’t care about that, maybe he cares about his precious company. Valentin Cassadine is MIA. Ned had amnesia, thinking he was some faded rock star. Maybe ELQ deserves a visit from the SEC. He says he doesn’t have to take this. She wants the truth? He’ll tell her exactly why Drew was sent to Pentenville. Michael arrives with the drinks.

Esme asks how Heather could tell just like that, and Heather says she’s been studying Esme since the first moment she laid eyes on her in Spring Ridge. She knows Esme’s face. She knows Esme’s mannerisms. Esme used to look so lost, but just now, she saw something in Esme’s eyes, a glint, a sense of purpose. It’s nice to meet the real Esme. She pats Esme’s hand, and Esme flinches. Heather says she didn’t mean to upset her. It’s a good thing. Esme says she’s just glad to be able to talk to someone about it, and Heather says, Esme has her. Trust her. Pour her heart out. Esme cries a little and says, it’s like she’s two different people. She doesn’t know what to do or what to think. Is she this horrible person who did these things to Spencer and Trina, or is she this mom who loves her son more than anything in the world? And she doesn’t know how she can be both. Heather says, everything’s going to be okay. Does Esme know how she knows? Because Esme did the right thing. She came to see her mother.

Spencer says, there’s so much for Trina to do in Paris when she’s not studying at the Sorbonne. It’s one of his all-time favorite cities, and the best part is that she’s in close proximity to so many other great cities. She’s next to Berlin, Copenhagen, Barcelona… It’s a train ride for her. She says, yeah, but she doesn’t have a command of the language, and he says, it’s not going to be a thing after the first semester. She’s going to be the toast of the town. Every guy is going to falling head over heels for her. Is she kidding him? As a matter of fact, why is he encouraging her to do this? Maybe she should stay. Never mind. Bad idea. She says, you know what could work? He could come with her.

Nina asks what Cyrus is doing here. Does he need something? He says, it’s not what he needs. He’s here to help her. She says she’s fine, and she’s very busy, so if he needs to talk to her for some reason, he should talk to her assistant, and she’ll set up… He picks up a magazine and says, isn’t it amazing how they distract themselves with the mundane in order not to ponder the great mysteries of life? Taking the magazine, Nina says, if they just sat around pondering that, they wouldn’t get anything done. So like she said, she’s busy. He says, very well. He’ll leave her to her work, but remember, she doesn’t walk alone. She flashes back to being in the confessional, and the priest saying, and remember, she doesn’t walk alone. God is always with her. Cyrus says, so, has she set herself free? and Nina looks like she might have a stroke.

Michael asks Ned, so what is the truth? Why exactly did he get himself involved, and more importantly, what exactly did he get out of it? Ned flashes back to Michael giving him the voting proxy on half of Michael’s ELQ shares for keeping his silence about Nina. At the table, Lois looks at Olivia, when Sonny walks in. Ned says, only the satisfaction of being a good citizen. He was looking out for the little guy. Carly says, come on. He was looking out for himself. He wanted power, and he didn’t care who he had to hurt to get it. Ned asks Carly, if he’s such a menace, why is she provoking him? and Michael says, watch it, but Carly says, don’t stop him. What is he going to do to her? Sonny walks up and asks if Ned doesn’t think he’s caused enough damage.

Lois says, great, now Sonny’s involved, and Olivia says, Lois told her that she wanted to stay out of the Quartermaine’s affairs, so why doesn’t she do that? Lois says, because she hates seeing Ned being called out in public for something he didn’t do, and Olivia says, it’s complicated. Lois doesn’t understand. Ned is doing what he thinks he has to do for the family. Could she please just accept that and move on?

Ned says, Sonny is going to lecture him about damage? The man who’s left a swath of broken lives and destruction in his wake? Michael says, this isn’t the time or place. They don’t want to make a scene. Can they all agree on that? Sonny says he’s good, and Michael suggests he and Ned talk in private. They leave, and Sonny asks if Carly is okay. She says she was. Now she’s not so sure.

Lois asks if that looks like positive momentum to Olivia? How is it that another war between the Corinthos and Quartermaine families better than the truth?

Gregory tells Alexis that he’s sorry. He thought this would be fun. She shouldn’t feel obligated to do something she doesn’t want to do. He tells the instructors, thanks. He appreciates the prep and the time, but he’s calling off the jump. Falcon says, it’s all right, but Alexis says, no, it’s not all right. Hold on. Don’t go anywhere. She tells Gregory that she’s all over the place. It’s not even just the jump. It’s the girls. She’s worried. She just has a lot on her mind. Does he think they could talk by themselves, just for a minute? Gregory asks if they can be given one more minute and gets the okay signal from Falcon. Gregory asks, what’s going on? and Alexis says, it’s the girls. She’s worried. There’s been a new development. Sam is savvy. If Alexis dies, she’ll be fine, but Kristina and Molly, no. They cannot exist without her. They need their mother. They need her to protect them. He says, so she wants to protect her kids and keep them from getting hurt if they jump, but they’re adults. And as adults, they can choose when and if they jump, and if they do, they’re going to have to pull their own ripcords. She says, did he just do a skydiving analogy? It was good. He says, letting their kids go is the ultimate test. He tried to shield Chase from his illness with disastrous results. Remember? But Chase forgave him. Their kids are full of surprises. They never know what they’ll become or what they’re capable of. He has to believe his kids are going to grow and learn and thrive and make mistakes, but survive. And that belief, that faith, gives him great comfort, and great courage. Alexis says, Denice, Marlon… Gregory says, Falcon, and she says, Falcon, let’s get a move on. Gregory asks if she’s sure, and Alexis says she’s sure… No, she’s not sure, but she said she was going to jump out of the damn plane, so she’s going to jump out of the damn plane. Damn it. They head to the damn plane.

Heather asks if anyone else knows about Esme’s memory coming back, and Esme says, not really. She tried telling… Heather says, but she didn’t, and Esme says, no, but… Heather says, absolutely not. Zip it and keep it zipped. Esme asks how she can go one pretending that she doesn’t remember anything, and Heather says, she inherited the familial talent for misdirection. Besides, she’s done it before. Esme says, but not like this. Pretending she’s sorry for all the bad things the old Esme did. Heather says, and she really doesn’t feel bad about it, and Esme says she did. When she didn’t remember any of it, it was horrifying. But now that she remembers why she did it and felt so justified, it’s because it was justified. Heather says, exactly. So just keep telling them exactly what they want to hear. She’s made a fresh start and now she’s a different person. Esme asks where that gets her. She’s still a single mom, Alexis Davis’s drudge, and a witness to Spencer and Trina’s insipid happily ever after. And she’s unable to do a thing about it. Heather smiles. (Just for the record, although I’m thrilled with the visit to Heather, I’m not loving Esme’s 180. Or is it really a 360?)

Trina says she knows Spencer can’t come with her, but when she opened it, she started daydreaming about how amazing it would be if they could be together. But she knows he can’t leave Ace, so just forget she said it. He says, she knows how much he loves her, and he’d never want her to think he’s prioritizing Ace over her. She says she doesn’t, and he says, but Esme’s moved out and she’s Ace’s primary caregiver. Maybe they can find a way. He can fly back on weekends as long as Esme will let him see Ace. She says, wait a minute. What is he saying? He tells her that he’s saying, when the woman you love invites you to go to Paris, you say yes. They kiss.

Nina says, Cyrus was at All Saints. That’s just so wrong. He’s not a priest. She doesn’t know what he thinks he heard… He says, more than enough. He and Drew Cain became friendly when they were Pentenville. Drew saved his life actually, and after Drew was attacked, he was able to return the favor. Drew had a very hard time inside. All he wanted to do was get back to the woman he loved, the woman he sacrificed his freedom for. Carly Spencer, formerly Carly Corinthos, her husband’s ex-wife, the mother of his children. She says, he’s a hypocrite. He listened to her confession? How could he be so dishonest? She thought she was talking to a man of God. He says, she was. Just as she is now. So how can he help her?

Sonny asks if Carly wants to tell him what that was all about, and Carly says she told Ned what she thought about him, for obvious reasons. Sonny says, good. Now it’s his turn. Carly stops him, and says, he’s not worth it. And she needs something stronger than this. She picks up her champagne glass and heads for the bar.

In the hallway, Ned tells Michael, it’s New Year’s Eve. He doesn’t want to talk about it. Sonny comes by and tells Ned, it’s not over between them, then disappears. Michael says, they had an agreement.

Lois tells Olivia, if Sonny thinks Ned harmed Carly, he’s not going to let it go. He’s going to finish it. Now what’s going on with those two? They look over to see Michael and Ned talking, and Olivia says, probably talking about ELQ. Lois says she thought Michael was trying to push Ned out, but Olivia says, quite the opposite. Ned has been taking on more responsibility. Michael’s even given him his proxy. It’s all good. Lois says, wait a second. Michael handed over his control of ELQ? Why would he do that? Olivia asks why she cares. She swears Lois always does this. She gets something in her head, and she can’t leave it alone. Like the time Lois’s mother was planning a surprise party for her for months and she ruined it. Lois says, okay. Let her think. Did Michael do this to keep Ned quiet? Because it must be something big… Ooh. Oh my God. Did Michael turn his own mother in to the SEC?

Sonny tells Carly that he’s sorry. He had to interfere. He just doesn’t like Ned treating her like that. He knows she can hold her own, but… She says, that’s okay. She needed the distraction. It stopped her from throwing her drink in Ned’s face. That would have been a perfect ending to a perfect year, right? He says, the night’s still young, and she says, not for her. She’s going to go. Will he tell Michael that she left and have a happy New Year? He says, she’s not going to stay for the countdown? Come on. She says, it’s going to make her miss Drew even more, so have a happy New Year. She leaves.

Olivia tells Lois, no. Michael did not turn his own mother in to the SEC. Lois says, then make it make sense. Why would Michael hand over control of ELQ to Ned? Does Tracy have something on Michael? Or are Ned and Tracy planning something? Olivia says, stop this. Stop overthinking it. Just let it go. Lois says she can’t, because it stinks to high heaven. But Olivia was right about one thing. She is overthinking this. She thinks the answer is right here in front of her face. And here’s what she thinks. She thinks Ned has something on Michael, and Michael is paying off Ned to keep him quiet. Is she right?

Nina asks what Cyrus wants. Money? He laughs and says, of course (🍷). No, he doesn’t need money. He has the riches of the kingdom of God. What he wants is for her to confess. Not to a priest in a cubicle, but to the people she hurt. She says, what good would that do? Drew is free, Carly is moving on, the Corinthos family is coming together. What good would it do dredging up the past? He says, did she or did she not send a good man to prison? Where he was beaten to a pulp. Did she or did she not try to separate a mother from her children and separate a man from his child, all out of spite and wickedness. She tells him, cut the sermon. Please. He’s more a man of the orange jumpsuit than a man of the cloth (ha-ha-ha!). He’s a criminal, a blackmailer, so what’s his angle? What is he planning to do with what he knows?

Basking in the afterglow, Spencer says, there’s a church over there that he and Trina should go to. It’s got a little walled-off garden next to it, then down the street, there’s this really quaint and cute restaurant. It makes the best crepes she’s ever had in her life. They’re simple, but they’re very delicious. He thinks she’ll like them. She says, sounds like heaven, but it’s one thing to daydream and another to live in reality. Maybe he should think about this. He says, no. They’re doing this. This is happening. He’s not letting them back out of this. She says, okay, and he says, because he was in Europe once and when he was, it was very, very lonely and depressing. So hopefully, this will give him a new opportunity or new chance to experience it with fresh eyes with someone he loves. So he doesn’t need any time to think about it. He knows exactly what he wants. He wants to be in Paris with her. She kisses him, and he says, fireworks. She says, he got that right… but he says, no, the real ones up there. They can make it if they hurry. He jumps out of bed.

Heather tells Esme, forget those twerps. She was always way too good for Spencer anyway. She won. She got Ace, and that’s everything. She’s still got the upper hand, so don’t blow it by admitting she got her memory back. She’s a really good mother to Ace, right? Esme says, yeah, she is, and Heather says, then just keep up the charade, for his sake. And be sure to practice a little self-care. Esme says, what? Like a spa day? Heather says, no. Like she’s young. She’s beautiful. Smart as a friggin’ whip. Go put on a party dress and get out there. Maybe she’ll meet somebody new. It’s New Year’s Eve. Meet somebody who’s worthy of her. Come and see her mother again. She’ll help Esme keep her head on straight. Keep her memories to herself. As much as she’d like to see more of Esme, she has way too bright of a future to squander it in this place. Esme takes Heather’s hands and says she will, and thanks her. Heather says, anytime. It was a pleasure to finally meet her daughter… all of her.

Ned says he and Michael may need to revisit the terms of their agreement if Carly’s going to start harassing him in public. Michael says, Ned is being well-compensated for his trouble. Michael’s proxy gives him controlling interest of ELQ. If that’s not good enough for him, he’ll go get Willow. Because she deserves to hear the truth about Nina before Ned announces it to the entire world. Ned says, you’re bluffing, and Michael says, try me.

Lois says, what on earth could Ned have on Michael that would make him give up control of ELQ? and Olivia shushes her and says, stop it. She calls over to Sonny, and he joins them. He says, you ladies look marvelous, and Lois thanks him. They hug, and Sonny kisses Olivia on the cheek. She says, he’s looking handsome as always. Where’s Nina this evening? He says, she’s working. She said she’ll be here by midnight. Lois says, no. He has to get her here, because the person you kiss at midnight is the person you’ll be with for the rest of the year.😱 He says, in that case, he should call and see what’s going on. He excuses himself, and leaves. Lois says, ho-ho. Like she said. Right in front of her face. It was never about Drew getting in trouble with the Feds. The intended target was always Carly. Olivia says, Lois… Lois says, Carly, who acted on inside information. So whoever tipped off the SEC had to believe that Carly would be the one who would wind up in prison. And who had the incentive of getting rid of Carly. How about the person who is currently married to her ex-husband? Nina. Nina’s the one who tipped off the SEC. Olivia looks worn-out, but Lois breathes a sigh of relief and drinks some champagne.

Out in the middle of somewhere, Alexis tells Falcon that her heart is still beating outside her chest. Will it stop? Will it be regulated? Or did she live so that she can die now? He says, probably. Pretty rad, huh? They do a fancy handshake, and Falcon starts to walk away. She asks, where’s Gregory? Did he jump? Is he dead? Falcon leaves, and Alexis calls to Gregory. Gregory says he’s here. Sorry he’s late. Traffic. She hugs him, and he says, easy does it. She says she loved it, and he laughs. She says, it was amazing. Soaring through the sky and the perspective that she saw of the world looking down. It was so beautiful. It was amazing. It was extraordinary. It was transformative. It was probably the most transformative moment of her… He kisses her. Then she kisses him.

Carly walks into Sonny’s old kitchen and throws her bag on the counter, knowing she’s never alone when the moss bowl🎍is there. She goes to the sink and is startled by an air horn. She moves toward the door, when Drew comes in. He says, happy New Year, and she runs into his arms. She says, it is now, and they kiss.

Nina asks what Cyrus is planning to do with this information, but he says, nothing. She says, so he doesn’t want anything in exchange for him keeping quiet, and he says he’ll settle for her redemption. She asks if he knows that Carly and Drew aren’t the only injured parties here. She almost lost the only daughter she had left before she even knew she was her daughter. He tells her, look at what a tangled web she’s woven. Did she really think it would never unravel? The guilt is already weighing on her and pulling her down closer to the gates of hell. Hell is a state of mind. It robs you of your peace and your chance to experience real joy. All this bartering and deal making to avoid telling the truth. She asks why he’s here. He doesn’t know her. He doesn’t give a damn about her. He says he’s been her. He’s justified his lies, and it only makes for more lies and moving further away from everything that matters. That’s why he tries only to tell the truth now. She tells him, so this is his way of saying, if she doesn’t confess, he will, and he says, karma, fate, providence, they all point to the same thing. That is, your actions determine your life’s destiny. Just think of all the hurt she can undo with just a few simple words. All the clarity she can give to Carly and Drew and her husband, Sonny Corinthos. Nina’s phone rings and she sees it’s Sonny. She picks up the phone, looking pained.

Olivia says she’s begging Lois, please do not say a word about this to anyone. Lois says, how could she not have told Sonny this? Nina, his wife, called the cops on Carly and Drew. Why hasn’t Ned said anything? Olivia says, because he knows how many people would be hurt if he did. Sonny is happy with Nina. Nina and Carly have a truce off sorts. Drew is out of prison and his life is back to normal. What good could it possibly do to dredge all this up again? Ned comes back and asks if Olivia is ready to go. Olivia says, they’re in the middle of a conversation here, and Ned says, let’s take that conversation on their way to the docks. They’ve got fireworks. Lois says she’ll meet them out there. She’s going to powder her nose. Ned says, see her over there, and steers Olivia out. Sonny comes over to Lois and says, he left a message for Nina. She’s going to meet them. Does Lois want to walk with him over to the docks? She say she’s sorry, but he’s going to miss the fireworks this year.

Drew and Carly kiss their way into the bedroom as the fireworks go off. The real ones, outside. They get busy.

Gregory and Alexis smile at each other and look up at the sky. She puts her head on his shoulder.

Spencer and Trina watch from the rooftop. He says he’d follow her anywhere. Esme watches from behind them, her hand balled into a fist.

Cyrus says, Nina didn’t answer her call, and she says she should have handed him the phone. It was Sonny. He says he won’t tell Sonny. He wouldn’t want to rob her for her chance at salvation. She has to confess; no one can do it for her. She says she didn’t want him to know. It’s going to hurt him. She prayed that he would never, never know. He says, try praying for the truth to set her free, and she says, if anyone should tell Sonny, it should be her. He says, that’s right. That’s good. That’s all he wanted to hear. New year, new beginnings. He says he has faith that she’ll do the right thing. Until then, he won’t be far.

Sonny asks if Lois has something on her mind, and she says, he has a right to know what’s going on. He says, get to the point, and she says, they’re lying to him. He says, who? and she says, his family. They’re all lying to him.

Next week, Carly says, this is gonna be a good year; Olivia tells Ned, get back there, now; Brook tells Chase, better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission; Willow asks for Nina’s help; and Lois tells Sonny that she knows who really ratted Carly and Drew out to the SEC.
