What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Willow comes into the hospital, and Elizabeth asks if she’s had a setback, but Willow says, just the opposite. She wants to get back to work. Does Elizabeth have room for one more nurse?

Finn sets up the backgammon board, and Tracy says she hopes he’s been practicing. He’s going to need it. He asks if she’s kidding. He has an eight-year-old daughter, and there’s not a day that goes by that there isn’t new disease at the hospital to challenge him. Does she really think he has time to practice backgammon? She looks at him, and he says, okay. The minute he knew she was back in town, he started practicing his ass off. She says, good choice – she takes a paper out of her pocket – because according to her calculations, Tracy-47, Finn-29. He says, 47-29? She kept that all this time? She asks what he thinks and he says, of course (🍷) she kept it; she’s winning. She says she loves to win, and shakes the dice.

Cody says he’s desperate here. Sasha’s in trouble, and Sam could be his only chance. She says, to get himself locked up in Ferncliff? and he says, to help Sasha. She says she thinks it’s a terrible plan, but he says, it’s the only plan he’s got. Please. She says she won’t help him, much less be the one who commits him.

On his phone at the Crimson office, Sonny asks what Brick’s got for him. Has the fake information Betty stole from his computer been downloaded?… He gets that, but he’s impatient. It’s just that he wants some answers. He may have to figure this out. Nina comes out of the elevator, and Sonny says, he’ll see Brick later. Nina comes in and asks, what’s wrong? Sonny says, nothing. A beautiful woman is in front of him. What could be wrong with that? She says, nothing’s wrong with that, and they hug. Absolutely nothing.

At the pool, Molly thanks Alexis for coming, and Alexis says, of course (🍷) she would be here. She knows how much this means to Molly and TJ. Molly says she really wants Alexis to like her, and Alexis says she thinks it’s more important that Molly and TJ like her. Molly says, they really do, when Andrea comes in. Molly introduces her to Alexis, and they sit at a table. Kristina appears in the doorway and sees them.

On the phone, Brook says, so it’s all true?… She can’t say she’s completely surprised. She could kill her with her bare hands… No, no. Not them. A certain member of her family.

Tracy asks, how’s Finn’s father? and Finn says, he’s… fine. She says, fine? Really? She was supposed to have dinner a few days ago at the MetroCourt with her sister-in-law who had to cancel. There, she ran into Finn’s father, who coerced her into having dinner with him. Finn asks, how bad was the dinner? and she says, actually, the food was much improved now that Carly Spencer is no longer running the show. He says he meant, how was his dad’s company? and she says, he’s charming, but he couldn’t hide the fact that his hand was cramping. What’s wrong with him? Finn says he’ll have to ask her not to pursue that line of questioning, and she asks, why? He says he’d prefer not to lie to her, and she says, fine. He shakes the dice, and asks how Ned is doing. She says, he’s still singing on streetcorners and hanging out with her favorite person, Sonny Corinthos. And how is Detective Chase? He says, Chase is convinced Tracy is forcing Brook to give up her music career to work at Deception, and she says she needs to ask him not to pursue that line of questioning. He asks, why? and she says she’d prefer not to lie to him. He laughs.

Willow tells Elizabeth that she’s feeling stronger every day. She’s got her energy back and she’s really starting to feel like her old self again. Elizabeth says, that’s such great news, and Willow says she loves her time with Michael and the kids, but what she really wants is to get back to nursing. Taking care of people who need help, like she did when she was getting her transplant. This hospital is full of excellent nurses who took such amazing care of her and really supported her when she needed it. She’s not sure what she would have done without them. Elizabeth says, they do have excellent nurses here, but Willow wasn’t just any patient; she’s one of them. Willow says she wants to pay it forward and give that type of care to other patients who need it. Elizabeth says, that’s why they do this, and she’s all for Willow coming back to GH because she’s an amazing nurse, and she can’t wait to have Willow back on rotation, as soon as her doctors approve her return. It would be a bad way to repay all those nurses by coming back too soon and pushing herself too hard, compromising her immune system. Willow says, of course (🍷). She agrees. That’s why she’s here, to talk to Dr. Randolph and see when she’ll be approved. Elizabeth says, great. This place needs people like Willow, and she can’t wait to get that documentation that says Willow is ready to work.

Sonny says he doesn’t want to keep Nina from her work. Maybe she should see if something urgent came up. Nina says she’s just fine in his arms. Besides, there’s nothing that can’t wait. He asks if she’s sure about that, and she says she would have gotten a text or an email from one of her assistants. He says, maybe its one of those old fashioned phone things. Why doesn’t she just check it out? She asks why he’s acting so weird, and he says he doesn’t want her to miss something important. She goes to her desk and finds a jewelry box, and asks, what’s this? He says he doesn’t know; maybe she should open it. She opens it, and says, oh! revealing a stunning diamond pendant necklace. She says she loves it; it’s beautiful. He says, it’s going to be even more beautiful when he puts it on her, and she asks if it’s an apology for being so secretive with her. He says, yes and no, and she asks, which is it? He says, why doesn’t she turn around and he’ll put it on her. She says, it’s gorgeous (it gets my vote), and he says, it’s absolutely amazing, putting the necklace on her. He hooks the clasp, and she asks how it looks. He says, she looks beautiful and that just compliments it, and she says, he always has a way of making her feel special. What happened to him to put him so at ease? He says he’s just happy, but she says when she saw him in his office the other night talking to Ava, they both seemed pretty tense.

Sam says, even if she wanted to – which she doesn’t – she couldn’t have Cody committed because she’s not related to him. Therefore, there’s no legal standing to do it. He says, easy fix, and she says she can’t wait to hear this. He says he gives her power of attorney. She becomes his medical executor. She says, so he appoints her one day, and she has him committed the next. That’s not going to look suspicious at all, is it? He says, it’s good enough to get him into Ferncliff, and if people start asking questions afterward, who cares? She says she cares. This is a bad idea. He says, no, it’s not. It could work. She says, this is a pointless discussion because she’s not going to do it, and he says, why? She says, because she’s not going to do anything that’s going to make Sasha worse.

Andrea says, the view from up here is amazing, and Alexis says, you can see most of Port Charles from up here. Kristina says, TJ likes to come here and go swimming to blow off steam, and afterward they grab something to eat. Alexis notices Kristina, who ducks out. Molly and Andrea discuss the food there, and their favorite dishes. Alexis looks over and sees Kristina is gone.

Tracy says she wins, and Finn says he has the feeling that’s her favorite phrase. She says, it’s definitely one of her favorites. Isn’t he even going to try to beat her? He says, just wait til next game, and she says she appreciates his enthusiasm, adding something to the paper. She says, the running score is now 48 to 29, and he tells her that she doesn’t have to say it so loud. He’s surprised she doesn’t have her own Quartermaine score tab stationery with a little family crest on it. He can see it now; one for Brook, two for Tracy, Ned zero. She says, that’s a clever idea, and he says, you’re welcome. She asks what they’re going to talk about now that he’s removed his father from the topic of conversation and she’s removed her granddaughter? She knows he doesn’t want to waste any more time talking about stationery. He says he discovered a fascinating new bacteria… but she says, no. Infectious diseases is off the table. He says he has a topic, and she says, Monica’s cheap china or business cards? He says, what about Luke?

Gregory comes into the hospital, and Elizabeth asks if he’s here to see Finn, but he says, actually, he was hoping to have a word with her. She says, sure. Is everything okay? He tells her, let’s just say, it’s extremely important.

Sam tells Cody, they’ve been over this. Sasha has suffered a psychotic break. Right now she needs medical attention because she’s dangerous and delusional. He says, no, she isn’t, and Sam asks what he’s talking about. He has a scar on his side where Sasha stabbed him. He says he’s telling her that Sasha is being drugged, and somehow, Gladys is responsible for it. How is he the only one who sees it? She says, he may think that, but Sasha also has a history of mental illness, and he says he knows all about her history, but one minute she’s fine, and the next minute, she’s hallucinating. How does that happen? He’s telling her, something isn’t right. She says, okay. Say he does get in to see Sasha and he pushes her further into her delusion. He says he wouldn’t, but she says, he doesn’t know that. Or maybe even the worst-case scenario. Maybe she thinks he’s Cyrus Renault again and attacks him a second time, and he’s not so lucky and winds up in the hospital, or worse. He says he’s thought through all that. He’ll be on his guard this time, and he can defend himself from Sasha. She says she’s not worried about him, and he says, gee, thanks. She says she’s worried about Sasha and him traumatizing her more. Is he willing to take that risk?

Sonny says he understands why Nina feels excluded, and she says, good, because she did. First, Dex and Gabe wouldn’t let her in the penthouse. Then when she went to his office, she found him talking with Ava, and she seemed to be in the know about what was going on. He says, because he and Ava share Avery, and she says, but then he tells her that it’s for her safety that she doesn’t know. Who wouldn’t feel left out? He says, because some things in his business are better left unsaid. They’ve gone over this a thousand times and he doesn’t want to put her in danger. She says, he’s willing to put Ava’s life in danger? and he takes her hand. He says he came here to apologize for making her feel like an outsider. He doesn’t let her in on things because it puts her at risk. She knows everything else. She says she feels like Frank or Gabe when his office door is shut in her face, and he says he doesn’t ever want her to feel like an employee. She says she knew from day one what she was getting into when she fell in love with him, and she accepts all of him; this charming, amazing man in front of her, and the ruthless businessman. She loves all of him. He says he doesn’t ever want her to forget how much he loves her. That’s all that matters. She says, just let her in. Maybe she can help him. She can handle it. He says, some things are best not knowing.

Kristina goes to the reception desk and asks if Dr. Randolph is in. Walking by, Willow says, Dr. Randolph had an emergency that pulled her away, and Kristina hugs her. She says, Willow looks great. It’s nice to see her out. Willow says, it’s great to be out. She’s feeling a lot better. Kristina says she’s sorry she didn’t come see Willow. She didn’t know when Willow was accepting visitors again. Willow says, it’s okay. After she left the hospital, she had to restrict her visitors to a small group, since her immune system might be compromised, but now she’s almost fully recovered, so they can see each other any time. Kristina says, that’s amazing news, and Willow says she couldn’t be more grateful for what Liesl did for her. She’s actually here to see Dr. Randolph too. She’s hoping to get the all-clear to go back to work. What about Kristina? Is she okay? Kristina says, not really. Actually, it’s probably best she doesn’t see Dr. Randolph today.

Elizabeth tells Gregory, she’s officially on break, so she’s all his. What’s going on? Are Finn and Violet okay? He says, they’re fine, and they sit down. He needs her to accept his apology. She says, for what? and he says he’s been keeping something from her, from everyone close to him. But the time has come for him to be up front and transparent. He waited too long. He never should have agreed to watch Violet the other night. She asks, what happened? and he says he fell, and Violet came in and saw him on the floor. She says she’s sure it was scary for Violet, but she’s going to be okay. What about him? Is he hurt? Does he want to see a doctor? He says, no. The fall was nothing serious, but Violet was worried and so was he. He told Finn and now he’s telling her. He has ALS.

Tracy tells Finn that she keeps forgetting Luke is gone. The fact that he’s not around to drive her crazy is something she finds impossible to wrap her head around. Finn says, she really misses him, doesn’t she? and she says, yeah. He has her at loose ends, so she concentrates on her good friend – she nods to him – and focuses on a business project she’s involved in. He asks if she wants to talk about it, or is it one of those subjects they shouldn’t pursue a line of questioning? She says she prefers not to lie to him, and he laughs. Brook storms in and says, how could she? Tracy says, they’re in the middle of a game, and Brook swipes the board onto the floor. She says, now they’re not.

Nina and Sonny sit at a table, fully set for dinner in her office, and she says, one of the perks of having her office in the MetroCourt is that she can have them send dinner down when they’re feeling hungry and romantic. He says, speaking of romantic, they haven’t even talked about the details for the wedding, and she says, they’ve been a little preoccupied. Him with whatever he’s doing and Michael, and her with  the MetroCourt and the magazine and Willow. He asks if they can focus on themselves. They haven’t even set a date when she wants to marry him. She says she’s glad he asked because she wants a winter wedding, and she wants their table centerpieces to be filled with anemones and orchids and roses, and she was thinking about wearing an off-white gown. He says, she thought about this? and she says, a little. He says, a lot, and she says, if they have a winter wedding, she saw these amazing emerald and gold invitations; they’re gorgeous. And he would look dashing in a burgundy tux, and she could picture them in Crimson’s January issue. He says he’s not very comfortable with being splashed across her magazine, but he does like a winter wedding because they have time to plan and she can have what she wants. She says, there’s another reason she wants to wait for winter. She wants to make sure Willow is fully recovered. If they have a wedding before Willow is completely cleared, she thinks it would be disrespectful to her. He says, Nina wants her to come around so she can be part of the wedding.

Kristina says she doesn’t know if Willow heard, but she’s starting an LGBTQIA+ youth center here in Port Charles. Willow says, Michael told her. She thinks it’s an amazing idea. Kristina says she asked Dr. Randolph if she would be on the board of directors, and Willows says, she would be excellent. What did she say? Kristina says, she seemed interested, but she didn’t commit yet, so she’s here hopefully to convince her to get on board. (No pun intended?) Willow says, she will, and Kristina says she’s glad she ran into Willow first. She’s realizing she’s not quite in the right head space to talk to Dr. Randolph today, and the worst thing she could possibly do is throw herself into business to distract herself and potential risk messing things up for the foundation. Willow says, distract herself from what? and Kristina says, from feeling left out of her sister’s life.

Alexis asks what led Andrea to wanting to become a surrogate, and Andrea tells her, like she said, she’s married. She and Ben have a young son, Randy; he’s just a baby. Her husband is a plumber and she used to work as an executive assistant. Alexis says, so she’s no longer working, and Andrea says she really wanted to stay home with her son and not look for another job, and she and her husband decided being a surrogate would allow her to do that. Randy’s young enough that he won’t remember her being pregnant. Someday they’ll explain to him of course (🍷), when he’s old enough to understand. Alexis says, it’s good to come clean about things like that, and Andrea says, at this point, he’s so young, he won’t anticipate a sibling when he sees her pregnant. So it won’t mean anything to him. Alexis asks, what will it mean to her?

Cody tells Sam that he can’t think of anything more traumatic than Sasha being trapped in Ferncliff. Please, just hear him out. She sits down, and he says, so Sasha had a breakdown after her baby and husband died within a year. Then she started using drugs; that’s when she cracked. That’s when she smashed in the windshield. Sam asks if he’s trying to prove her point, and he says he gets it, but then Sasha got help. She made a full recovery and was doing so great, she was even able to go back on TV selling Deception’s beauty products. And just when she’s ready to dump Gladys as her guardian and start taking control of her own affairs, she cracks again, even worse than before, leaving greedy Gladys in control of her money. Come on. Doesn’t Sam find that way too convenient?

Finn points to the game on the floor and says he was going to win. It doesn’t matter; Tracy and Brook should talk. He’ll show himself out. Tracy says she apologizes for the rudeness of her granddaughter. She was clearly raised by her mother. He says he’ll call Tracy later and leaves. Brook asks why she did it. Why? Tracy says, do what? and Brook says, go after Deception and in the process hurt her friends. Tracy says, please. She’s told Brook time and again, there are no friends in business. Does Brook think her great grandfather could have built ELQ into what it is today by making friends? Besides, they got what was coming to them. Brook asks how she can say that, and Tracy says, Lucy Coe stole the designs for The Deceptor. Brook says, from who? Tracy? Tracy says, no, and Brook asks, then who? Tracy says, from the company she’s working with, and Brook says, so there it is. Tracy just revealed the whole plot. Tracy used her. Tracy says, Brook used her to get Chase back his job, and Brook says, and Tracy used that to blackmail her into hurting her friends so she could help some random company. For what? Some revenge on Lucy Coe? Some bizarre vendetta? What’s happened to her? My guess: Tracy is working with Martin’s ex-wife number three, whose idea he inadvertently passed to Lucy.

Cody tells Sam, Sasha isn’t in Ferncliff because she’s a danger to him or herself. She’s in Ferncliff because she’s a threat to Gladys controlling her money. Sam asks if he really believes Gladys had Sasha drugged and sent to Ferncliff so she could remain in control of Sasha’s assets, and he says he’s played cards with Gladys. She’s an addict, like anyone who’s addicted to booze or coke. She says, that’s a big accusation to make, and he says, yeah, and Gladys has an even bigger debt to pay. Addicts are liars. He has no idea what lies Gladys has told herself to justify what she’s doing to Sasha. Frankly, he doesn’t care. All he cares about here is the victim. So is Sam going to let Sasha just rot in Ferncliff, or is she going to help him get in there and help her?

Sonny tells Nina, Willow’s on the road to making a full recovery, so they have to believe that. Nina says she does. She saw Willow earlier at Kelly’s and she looked a lot better. She just doesn’t want to tempt fate. He says, she’s going through a lot; she’s been through a lot. She’s a fighter. Nina says, she is a fighter, but it’s hard not to worry about her, and he says, they’re always going to worry about their kids. Nothing’s going to change that. But Nina’s been doing a lot of praying, and her prayers seem to be answered. Nina says, Sonny knows her a little too well, and he tells her not to forget that. He knows how important it is to have Willow at their wedding. Nina says, they’ve made a lot of progress. They’ve had some really good conversations, and Willow has made it clear she wants more of a relationship with her. He says, that’s great, and she says, it’s just going to be a long, hard road to rebuild that trust, but she wants Willow at the wedding, and they both know she won’t attend as long as Michael’s not there. (I dunno about that.) How does he feel about that? He says, if Michael wants to show up, nothing would make him happier. If you’d asked him six months ago if there was a chance Michael would come to their wedding – they laugh – he would say, no way. But you‘ve got to have hope, and he and Michael are doing a lot better. She says, that’s great, because she knows how important that is to him. He says, they’ve got to be thankful for everything they’ve got, and things seem to be looking up for them.

Willow says, Kristina can talk to her. What happened? Kristina says she knows she can trust Willow with this, and the secret is going to be out in nine months anyway. Molly and TJ have been having some infertility issues; Molly specifically has been. Willow says, poor Molly, and Kristina says, she’s been taking it really hard, and ever since they found out, she – they – have been talking about ways to have a baby of their own. So Kristina stepped up and committed the unpardonable sin of offering to be their surrogate. Willow says, wow. That is quite an offer. She’s taking it that it didn’t go over well. Kristina says, but it should have. You’d think Molly would see it as the selfless and loving gift she intended it to be. Instead, she’s insulted and completely shut Kristina out.

Andrea says she’s sure Alexis knows, there’s no greater joy than being a mom, and she was blessed with an easy and healthy pregnancy. If she can somehow pass that joy on to Molly and TJ by being their surrogate and giving them the gift of being parents, she’s also providing for her family and she’s willing to do it. Molly says, she and TJ can’t thank Molly enough. And they’ll both be there for Andrea every step of the way. Andrea says, luckily, she does know what to anticipate with the pregnancy, and going into it, knowing she’s carrying Molly and TJ’s baby and not her own, will make it possible for her to do this. That’s why she signed the contract. Alexis says she knows something about contracts, having been a lawyer for most of her life. She also knows what they can’t do. They really can’t capture the emotional part of what it means to have a child. So she thanks Andrea. It’s an incredible gift Andrea is giving to her child.

Elizabeth says she’s so sorry this is happening to him, and Gregory thanks her. It’s been a struggle to wrap his mind around it. (There’s a lot of that going around.) He put off facing it for as long as he could, which is why he hid his diagnosis from Finn and Chase for so long. He still hasn’t found the strength to tell Chase. Now that Finn knows, on the one hand, he’s relieved; on the other hand, he knows his son. She says, he’ll do everything he can for Gregory, and he says, that’s what he’s afraid of. Finn will act as both his doctor and his son, and he’ll forget to feel. But he’ll need to be in touch with those feelings, and for that he’ll need Elizabeth. Gregory dreads what’s ahead for him, but knowing Finn has her beside him, supporting him, he can dread it a little less.

Tracy says, what’s happened to her? What’s happened to Brook? Chase has softened her beyond recognition. Brook says, thank you, but Tracy says, that wasn’t a compliment. Brook says, Luke’s death has hardened Tracy more than she could have possibly imagined. She’s not only destroyed a company, she’s destroyed dreams. Does she understand that? Tracy says, please, and Brook says, if there’s any merit to this suit, it could bankrupt Deception. Tracy says, well, then Lucy Coe hasn’t kept very good books if her company’s that financially fragile, and Brook says, she’s unbelievable. This could leave Deception vulnerable to a hostile takeover. Or it could crumble before it ever has a chance to get back up on its feet. Tracy says, that’s the plan.

Elizabeth says she’ll do everything she can to support Finn, and Gregory. And she’ll be there for Chase and Violet. Gregory tells her that he had no doubt she’d say that, and thanks her. She asks, who else knows? and he says, at this point, it’s her, Finn, and Alexis Davis. He knows he’s being a coward, but he’s dreading telling Chase. She says, he’s anything but a coward. Facing this alone for months takes way more strength than he’s willing to admit. He’ll find the right moment to tell Chase. He says, Chase is the baby of the family, but boy, the optimist; the one who believes no matter how bad things get, it’s going to be okay in the end. He doesn’t know how to tell Chase that he’s sick, getting sicker, and one day, he’ll be helpless. There are days when he doesn’t believe it himself, but then his hands cramp up, or he struggles to stand up, or he falls down like he did with Violet, and it hits him. He’s going to die. This is real. She says, yeah, it’s real. There are still good days ahead, and she’s going to help him enjoy them. He thanks her and they hug, and Finn sees them.

Brook says, what plan? What is Tracy really after? She hasn’t been interested in ELQ in years, and that’s money to run a small country. What’s really going on here? Who sets out to ruin people’s lives? Oh wait. She’s sorry. Of course (🍷). A Quartermaine. Well look how well that’s turned out for this family. No wonder her dad woke up thinking he was someone else. Who’d want to be Tracy’s kid? Brook stomps out, and Tracy ponders this.

Andrea thanks Molly and Alexis for the lovely meal and even lovelier company. She’s so glad she’s in the position to help Molly and TJ. Molly says, they’re the fortunate ones to have found Andrea, and Andrea tells Alexis, it’s been a pleasure. Alexis says, it was a pleasure for her as well. It was a wonderful night. Andrea leaves, and Molly asks what Alexis thinks, and please, be honest. This is too important for anything else. Alexis says she likes Andrea. She thinks Andrea has a good head on her shoulders, and a good understanding of what it’s like to be a surrogate. Molly says she’s so relieved to hear Alexis say that, and Alexis says she thinks Molly and TJ are going to make fantastic parents. Molly thanks her, and they hug.

Kristina tells Willow, if she’s honest, it feels like Molly is punishing her because she can have a baby and Molly can’t. She knows that sounds harsh. Willow says, Kristina has a right to her feelings. She won’t pretend to know the answers, but one thing she’s learned is that babies are great bridge builders. Once the child is there and you’re interacting with this small miracle and the immediacy of them, it makes the old wounds seem less painful. So don’t assume she and Molly will feel this way forever. It’s very possible once the baby gets here, Kristina will just be aunty and Molly will be mom, and neither one of them will feel the need to be so territorial. It’ll all get easier. Kristina says she really hopes Willow is right, and she hopes the same for Kristina and Nina. She knows there’s negative history there and she gets it, but she’s been spending some time with Nina and she’s really a good person. Kristina’s dad loves her a lot. Maybe it’s like Willow just said, the immediacy will make the old wounds seem less painful. She hopes things get easier for Willow too, and Nina. Willow says she likes the sound of that.

Nina says, she and Sonny need to have these romantic dinners more often, and he says he knows. He’ll see what he can do. They kiss and his phone rings. He says he’s got to get this, and she says, go. He steps away and asks, what’s the update?

Cody says, what if it was Sam in Ferncliff? Or one of her sisters? Alone and afraid, being held against your will, being told by the doctors and staff that you’re crazy. Wouldn’t she want someone to check on her and make sure she’s safe? Wouldn’t she want someone to do something for her if she wasn’t? Wouldn’t she want someone to save her if they could? Or would she prefer everyone just stands on the sideline, does nothing, and hopes for the best? Because when that doesn’t work out, her and everyone she loves are going to regret it for the rest of their lives. Sam says, okay. She’ll do it. She’ll have him committed.

On Monday, Marshall asks if Portia has any good news; Lucy calls Martin an idiot; Trina tells Josslyn, there’s got to be a way to bring them back together; and Stella tells Curtis that he’s not giving up.

I’ve been watching this off and on, but I still can’t get the image out of my head of Shereé and Marlo screeching at each other in gibberish back in (I think) season 4. No one seems to have matured much since then either.

August 11, 2022 – Portia Has To Wake Oz Now, a Charming Dog Wedding & Who

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sonny asks if Spencer is going to be a sacrificial lamb, or is he going to sacrifice someone else?

Portia tells Curtis, it’s now or never. Is he ready? He says, is she? They don’t have to do this if she’s having any doubts. She asks if there’s any other way to let the jury know Esme bought that phone from Oz Haggerty, and he says, no, there isn’t. She says, then let’s do this.

Josslyn brings Trina a mango mocktail by the pool, and lies on the chaise next to her, saying, it’s perfect weather today. She hopes it stays like this all summer. Trina says, let’s hope she can enjoy it for more than an hour a day, and Josslyn asks if that’s a prison joke. Trina asks if it was funny, and Josslyn says, this isn’t working, is it? Trina says, don’t get her wrong. She knows she shouldn’t be spending every waking moment thinking about this verdict. She appreciates Josslyn trying to distract her, but… Josslyn says, but she’s failing miserably, and Trina says, don’t let her stop Josslyn from – she watches as Dex gets out of the pool – having a good… time.

Maxie meets Austin at the MetroCourt Gardens, and says, sorry. She thought she’d be more fashionably late than this. She was treating Spinelli to a pedicure. He asks if he should be jealous, and she says, of her or Spinelli? He asks why he would be jealous of her, and she says, what is there to be jealous of at all? Yes, she and Spinelli have a child and a history, and an eternally abiding friendship, but romantically, she’s with Austin, and she’s happy where she is. He says, that’s nice to hear, and thanks her. She says, this is where he returns the compliment, and he says, she’ll do. He’s just kidding. He kisses her, and says, me and Miss Jones, we got a thing going on.

Lucy finds Martin at Charlie’s and says, wait until he sees what she has on underneath her dress. He says, why wait? Let’s get out of here. He kisses her, and she says she loves his spontaneity and enthusiasm, but can they have a little bite to eat? She’s starving. He says, about that. Why don’t they forego the wings, finger lickin’ as they may be, and feast on mofongo in the Dominican Republic, or poutine in Toronto? She can show him her unmentionables at 10,000 feet. Lucy asks, what’s gotten into him; she likes it. But she has to admit, she’s a tad bit suspicious. He says he has to leave town, and he wants her to come with him.

Outside Oz’s hospital room, Jordan tells Rory to make sure he checks the badges of all medical personnel who have access. Portia and Curtis stop short, and do an about-face when they see Jordan and Rory, but Jordan says she was looking for them. Curtis asks if she found out anything new about that thing they talked about, and Jordan says she knows why they’re both here, and she won’t allow it.

Martin says, it’s just a pressing matter out of town that he could take care of anywhere, and he thought his lovely lady would like to be with him when he does the thing he’d rather not do here. He sits down, and says, he’s being coerced. She sits with him, and says, by whom? He says, Anna Devane, and she asks if he’s in possession of some state secrets or something. When she wrote her Guide to Port Charles, she noted that Anna can’t be too judgy about those. He says, Anna wants him to break attorney/client privilege, but Lucy says, that’s nothing. She has the perfect solution. He says, which is? and she says, you tell her no. Ta-da! Problem solved. He says, how does she, of all people, not know how coercion works? See also extortion, blackmail, putting the screws to. She says she knows how coercion works, and if she’s learned anything from being a coercee, it’s that literally the truth shall set you free. He says, not this time, and she says, whatever Anna has on him, it can’t be so bad that he can’t be a phoenix and rise above the wreckage of his life. He says he doesn’t want to rise from the wreckage, but she says, that’s what the wreckage is for. He says he doesn’t want anything to do with wreckage, and she says, okay, fine. What is it that Anna really has on him? He looks around, and says, it’s a little economic subterfuge concerning his ex-wives. She says, all of them? and he says, yes, all of them. And believe him, one by one they’re bad enough, but as a group, they make Medea look like Betty Rubble. She says she can see why he married them, and he says, if Anna rats him out, he’ll be raked over the coals, emotionally and financially. She takes his hand, and says, here’s what they’re going to do. He’s not going to back down. He’s simply going to tell his ex-wives and Anna that he’s his own man. He’s noble, and steadfast like a mountain, and he’s not going to back down – ever. Now which client does Anna want dirt on? He says, Valentin, and she says she’ll help him pack.

Austin asks Maxie, how is his self-proclaimed arch nemesis? and she says, smitten apparently. He says, no kidding, and she says, he knew about Britt? He says, Britt Westbourne? No way. Really. She asks who he thinks she was talking about, and he says, from Spinelli’s behavior he knew Spinelli had it bad for somebody, but he wouldn’t have guessed it was Britt. Britt’s great, but he’s never seen Spinelli look at her like that. She says, maybe he doesn’t know Spinelli well enough to see it, and he says, forget it. This is a waste of their valuable time together, and they’re here to discuss a plan that will probably not get Georgie to stop hating him. She says, Georgie doesn’t hate him, and he says, the last time he talked to her daughter, she asked if he knew what happens to matter when it goes into a black hole. Maxie says, she is her father’s daughter, and he says he told her that he doesn’t know; nobody knows. She said, wanna find out? Maxie says, she’s also her mother’s, and he says, kids love him. James loves him, Bailey loves him. That sweet little Leo goes out of his way to spend time with him, but Georgie… He doesn’t get it. What did he do? She says, nothing; nothing at all. She just needs to spend time with him. Which is why their pending weekend getaway is perfect. He said he found a place, right? He says he did, and gives her a brochure from a water park. She reads, family fun time, and he says, it’s got a lazy river, and a water slide. Georgie will love that because she loves swimming, and it’s got the biggest ball pit on the east coast. He thinks James might like that. She says she loves this. Is he ready? He says he thinks from a bacterial standpoint, they’ll have to sanitize the ball pit, but she says, she wasn’t asking if he was ready for biological warfare. She guesses she’s asking if he’s ready for a family.

Portia and Curtis are standing in front of Jordan, while Rory guards the door to Oz’s room. Jordan says, Portia wants to talk to this patient the moment he wakes up, but that hasn’t happened yet, and there’s no telling if, or even when it will. She’s assigned Officer Cabrera, and he’ll notify her the second Mr. Haggerty opens his eyes. Jordan says, they appreciate that, and Curtis says, they know her inquiry was off the record. They’re definitely not trying to get her in trouble. Portia says she has the discretion to assign manpower at the hospital as she sees fit, and since Mr. Haggerty appears to be the victim of a crime, and the perpetrator is yet to be caught, she can more than justify extra security for him. Curtis says he appreciates Rory being here, but he’d be more than happy to keep watch, and Portia says, she can help. She can monitor the patient. Jordan says, Oz Haggerty may be able to exonerate Trina. The person who drugged him may try again, so why don’t they want him protected?

Trina asks, who’s the hottie? and Dex waves. Trina asks if Josslyn knows him, and Josslyn says she does. Dex walks over, and Trina says, how exactly? Dex tells Josslyn, about yesterday… and she says, forget about it. He says he’d like to. Will she? Trina says, forget about what?

Spencer tells Sonny, there’s only one person responsible for escaping Spring Ridge, and it’s him. Now he has to hope, whether it’s 30 days, or 365, the people he cares about will be waiting for him when he gets out. Either way, he’s going to deal with it. Sonny says, atta boy, and Spencer says he appreciates the survival tips and the protection. Thank you. Sonny says, anything within his means, and Spencer says he really means it. It’s big of Sonny, considering Spencer called him out for intimidating Esme. Sonny says, Spencer gave quite a performance. He thought Spencer was out of his mind for a while there. Spencer says, Sonny’s not the only one. He knows there are people he hurt and pushed away while he was trying to trap Esme, and he has a lot of almonds amends to make as a result. Sonny says, as far as they go, they’re good, and Spencer says he appreciates it. Sonny’s always stood by him. Sonny says, they’re family, and Spencer says, they are. Which is why he’s hoping Sonny will do one more thing for him.

Maxie says, Austin spending a few hours with her kids is one thing, but an entire weekend is a commitment. She understands if he’s not ready to take that on yet. He says, family has always been a complicated concept for him, but he knows how important her family is to her, and he’d love the chance to see if he fits into it somehow. His phone rings, and he says he has to take this. He leaves, and Maxie looks at the brochure. A waiter comes by, and asks if she’d like a drink, or would she like to order? She says she’s not sure what her date wants… Wait. They can ask him. Austin comes back, and Maxie asks what he’d like. He says, about that. He can’t stay… He asks the waiter to give them a second, and the waiter jets. Maxie asks if it’s a work thing, and he says, ish. That was his property manager back in Pautuck. Something’s wrong with one of the cabins. She says, how bad is it that the property manager can’t handle it? and he says he doesn’t know. That’s what he aims to find out. She says, they’ll take a raincheck on lunch, but he says, it’s not just lunch. He’ll probably be gone for a couple of days. She asks if he’s saying he’s canceling the weekend with her kids.

Martin says, so Lucy agrees with him. They should just get out of Port Charles until this whole thing blows over. She says he really can’t betray Valentin; he will unleash holy hell. Martin says, is she kidding? Knowing Valentin, he’d get Martin to represent him in a case against himself. She asks what would happen if Anna tells his ex-wives what she knows, and he says, what’s worse than holy hell? She says, ex-wives with really good lawyers? Tell her about this financial subterfuge. Is it like an offshore account somewhere? He says, it’s nothing like that. There’s no stash in the Cayman Islands. Most of the money’s been spent taking care of his mother. He just thought it was better to take care of the only woman who’s ever really cared for him. Lucy says, not the only woman, and he says, so she doesn’t hate him? She says she doesn’t hate him. Please. She’s done far, far, far worse. He says, somewhere in the middle, this stopped making him feel better, and she says, and it wasn’t for the benefit of a beloved aging parent either. He says, so they’re agreed. Wither shall they go? Beach or mountains? She takes his hand, and says, anywhere with him would be absolutely divine, but she can’t come along. There’s too much to do at Deception. She’s afraid he’s going to have to be on his own, and he’ll have to wait to see her unmentionables.

Spencer says he wasn’t able to help Trina, but maybe Sonny can, and Sonny asks what he has in mind. Spencer says, if anyone can exonerate Trina, it’s Esme. He took his best shot and he missed, but he knows Sonny will do better. Sonny isn’t sure what Spencer is asking, and Spencer says, nothing illegal. His dad said Esme took off, and he was hoping Sonny could use his considerable resources to bring her back. That’s it. Sonny says, what he can do is find Esme and bring her back, but it seems to him, she’s long gone. Spencer says, Trina’s jury could come back with a guilty verdict any time now. Sonny may be her last chance. Sonny says, Spencer is facing a stint in maximum security, and his priority is Trina? and Spencer says, yeah. She’s his friend, whether she considers him one or not. Sonny asks if it will make Spencer feel more comfortable to know he’s doing everything he can for Trina, and Spencer says, he is. Sonny gets up, and tells Spencer that he has to focus on himself. They hug, and Sonny says, don’t forget head down, mouth shut.

Trina introduces herself to Dex, and asks if he’s heard about her. He says, only good things, and she says, clearly, he’s not a news junkie. He introduces himself, and says he just came by to say hi. He’ll let them get back to it. He leaves, and Trina says, he seems nice enough, but Josslyn says she doesn’t know what he seems. Trina asks, how does she… and Josslyn says, he works for Sonny. Trina says, in that case, why is he asking Josslyn to forget what happened yesterday, and what did happened yesterday?

On the phone, Dex says, there’s something he thinks they should know.

Portia says, of course (🍷) they want Mr. Haggerty protected, and who better to do that than Officer Cabrera? She’s sorry. She hasn’t been sleeping that well. Curtis says, the jury’s been deliberating, and Portia says, it’s he uncertainty of everything; it’s so unnerving. Jordan says, of course (🍷), and Portia says, their first priority is to make sure Mr. Haggerty can testify on the record, so she wants to thank Jordan and Rory. Rory says he’s happy to help, and Jordan says she needs to have a word with Portia and Curtis. She tells Rory she’ll be right back, and they step away. Curtis asks if they did something wrong, but Jordan says, not that she’s aware of. She wanted to speak to them privately because she tried to call Esme in for questioning, but unfortunately, she’s nowhere to be found. Portia says, she skipped town? and Jordan tells her, it’s hard to say, but even if Mr. Haggerty wakes up, and points fingers at Esme as the perp, it will prove challenging to bring her to justice. Curtis suggests they focus on one problem at a time. If Oz names another person of interest, it still looks good for Trina. Jordan says, assuming he wakes up. In the meantime, do something with themselves. At least leave the building and get some fresh air and sunshine. Oz Haggerty is in good hands. Rory will make sure no one gets past him.

Austen tells Maxie, whatever it is, he’s hopeful it will be over and done, and he can get back here for their weekend plans. She says she’s glad to hear that, but if for some reason he gets held up, she can always bring the kids to Pautuck. He says she doesn’t need to do that, and she says, or not. Is there something he doesn’t want her to see, or does he not want Pautuck to see her? He says she doesn’t need to make that drive, but she says, it’s not far. He says he doesn’t know how long this is going to take, but don’t waste her time. She says, it’s true her past experience in his town is somewhat checkered, but she’d really like to get to know the Pautuck he loves. He says, and he would love for her to do that. Some other time, when he’s not distracted by other people’s problems. She says, so what he’s telling her is… He says he wants to be distracted by their problems. He doesn’t want to let her down. She says, the only way he can let her down is to not be honest with her. He needs to tell her, what is this spur of the moment trip about?

In her office with Curtis, Portia says she never thought she’d be disappointed to hear Esme skipped town. Where does he think she ran off to? Europe maybe? He says, it’s possible. It’s also possible she’s still in town, and not as friendless as we thought. Portia says, she’s hiding, not confessing, and he says, getting Esme to confess was a long shot anyway. She says, let’s face it. Esme’s disappearance doesn’t have a direct effect on the case. There’s only one thing that’s going to make a damn bit of difference. Curtis says, yeah, and he’s being guarded, and she says, by Rory. He has to take a break eventually. Curtis says, and he’s likely to be replaced by another officer. Jordan is very thorough, so that room is never going to go unguarded. She says, maybe they can come up with some kind of distraction, and he says, without tipping Rory off? She says, outside distraction then, but he says, they don’t need any more outside involvement. She says, there’s got to be some way she can get around Rory and into that room, because if there isn’t, she doesn’t know what else she can do.

Sonny asks Dex if Josslyn told Trina who he met with yesterday, but Dex says he doesn’t think so; Trina would have reacted. But there’s no telling if Josslyn will say something down the line. He tried to feel her out, but she shot him down. Sonny says, that’s Josslyn, and Dex says, so he figured Sonny would want to handle it. Sonny says, Dex figured right.

Josslyn says she’s run into Dex a couple of times, and Trina says, where? Josslyn says, around. Here’s a thought – Trina and Rory. Trina says, that’s nice thought, and Josslyn suggests she say more, but Trina asks, what is there to say? Josslyn says, they just hung out again; say that. Tell her everything. Trina says, he brought her to the pool after dark, and Josslyn says she knows. Trina says, how? Josslyn helped him? Josslyn says, yes. Her mom may no longer be the owner, but the staff is still loyal to her, so is one of the other owners, and when she called, they were receptive. Trina says she was wondering how Rory pulled it off, and Josslyn asks if she at least had a good time. Trina says, they did. She thinks the best part is, she didn’t have to second guess everything that came out of his mouth, unlike Spencer. She asks if Josslyn told Cam about Spencer’s testimony, and Josslyn says, they talked about it. Trina asks if Cameron thought it was crazy that Spencer did a 180, and tried to give her an alibi, when Sonny comes by. He says, it’s great to see Trina having a good afternoon. He wants her to know that there are people pulling for her.

Austin says, there was an Incident, and Maxie asks, what kind of incident? but he doesn’t know. He didn’t get the details, but when he does, he’ll bore her with every last one. Trust him. Leaving is the last thing he wants to do. Lucy runs over, saying, hello, hello, hello, and Austin says, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye. He can’t stay; he’s sorry. But have fun. He tells Maxie that he’ll call her, and gives her a kiss. Lucy asks, where goeth the good doctor? and Maxie says, Pautuck. Lucy says, what? Eww. Why? Maxie says she has no idea, and Lucy asks how long he’s going to be gone. Maxie says, a couple of days, or so he says. Lucy says she senses a bit of annoyance, which she can empathize with, because she just had an abrupt farewell to Martin. Maxie asks if they broke up, but Lucy says, it’s nothing like that, but isn’t it kind of weird this mass exodus of the men of Port Charles? Maxie asks why they’re so secretive about it, but Lucy says, Martin did actually let her in on the reason for his departure. She gathers Austin did not. Maxie shakes her head.

Martin asks Spencer how Port Charles’ finest is treating him, and Spencer says he doesn’t mean to brag, but he did get an extra blanket last night, had lunch from Kelly’s, and he’s allowed visitors. Martin says, so being a mayor’s grandson has its privileges, and Spencer says, he’s not sure he would give it a five star review, but the PCPD is a decent budget option for travelers passing through. Martin says he’s glad to see Spencer still has his sense of humor, and Spencer says, the question is, how much longer is he going to need it? 30 days?… Longer? Martin says, that’s up to him. He takes out a folder, and says he had a conversation with DA Scorpio. If Spencer names his accomplices, he’s looking at 10 days is Spring Ridge. Spencer says, if he doesn’t? and Martin says, 3 months in Pentenville; 3 very long, very difficult months. Spencer says, it could be worse, and Martin says, it will be. Pentenville will not be a good place for Spencer for many reasons, most obviously his physical safety. Spencer says he knows the risks, and Martin says, he thinks because he’s Sonny Corinthos’s nephew, he’ll be protected. He’d better hope he’s right. In the meantime, he hopes Spencer takes this deal. He slides the folder over, and says, come on. He had to pull a rabbit out of a hat for this. Ten days in Spring Ridge is practically a vacation. Spencer says he appreciates that, and Martin asks, then why the hesitation? If he doesn’t want to think about his physical safety, think about his family’s emotional well-being. Spencer says, his family will be fine, but Martin says, why put them through it in the first place, especially his grandmother? They both know what Laura would want him to do.

Jordan asks Rory how it’s going, and he says, quiet so far. She says, let’s hope it stays that way, and he says he’s ready if it doesn’t. She says, that’s what she wants to hear. She did want to speak to him about something. ADA Arden informed her that he was a spectator at Trina Robinson’s trial. He says, it was his day off, and she says, it’s clear from his interaction with Curtis and Portia, that he’s become familiar with Trina’s family, and Trina herself. He says, yes, ma’am, and she says, the patient in this room is a key witness in Trina’s case. She could have picked any other officer, but she hand-picked him because she trusts him. He thanks her, but she says, don’t thank her yet. She needs to know, is an assignment connected to Trina going to be a problem for him?

Sonny tells Dex to get Trina a drink, lunch, whatever she wants; it’s on him. Trina says, thanks, but she’s not hungry, and Sonny says, if she changes her mind, talk to Dex. He’s going to be looking after her while he talks to Josslyn. He asks if Josslyn’s got a minute, and she gets up. She walks out, and he follows. In a more private area, he says he doesn’t want her to concern herself Dex’s errand yesterday, and she says, he means the whole jury tampering thing? He says, yeah, and she says, why? So he doesn’t get in trouble? Why would she want to save him? He says he knows she wouldn’t want to save him, but he thinks she’d want to save Trina, right?

Curtis tells Portia, everything will be okay. We just need to step back and recalibrate. She says, no. We don’t; I do. She has a legit reason for going in and out of that room, but he doesn’t. She thinks it’s best that she not get him involved. She needs to do this on her own. He says, they’ve gone through this before; he has her back. She says, and she loves him for that, but if Rory wasn’t involved, and Jordan wasn’t popping up around every corner, it would be a different situation, but that’s not what’s happening. They’re talking about injecting another doctor’s patient with drugs to reverse a medically induced coma, in a fraction of the time it should be reasonably done. On top of that, his ex-wife is involved. He asks what Jordan being his ex-wife has to do with anything, and she says, Jordan knows him. She knows his ways, and Portia is already fairly positive Jordan thinks they’re up to something. At this point, she thinks it’s best if she does this on her own. He asks how she’s going to do that, and she says, because she’s a doctor, and Rory won’t stop her from walking past him and into that room. And before anyone has a chance to question her, she’ll have administered the reversal agents, and Oz Haggerty will be awake. Curtis says, or dead.

Spencer asks if Martin is playing the grandmother card. Is this about him going to prison or keeping Martin from facing Laura’s wrath? Martin says, why does he have to choose? He is Laura’s brother, and has to answer to her. If he allows Spencer to imperil his life, Martin’s life is in even more jeopardy than it already is. Spencer says, then Martin can remind his grandmother of the promise he made to her before she left; that he’s going to try his hardest to live up to her expectations. Martin says, call it a hunch, but he doesn’t think Laura expected maximum security to be part of the deal. Come on. Does Spencer really think taking the fall for this is going to afford him some sort of redemption? Spencer says, he’s rarely been held accountable for the things he’s done in his life. So now he’s taking responsibility, and being a man. Martin says, by taking the fall for somebody else; covering for a man his grandmother both despises and distrusts. Don’t look at him like that. It wasn’t that hard to figure out. Laura already told him that Victor had somebody on the inside of Spring Ridge. Spencer says, his great-uncle is trying to get him to narc on his other great-uncle. This is something straight out of Greek mythology. Martin says, so be it, Apollo. What is it going to take for Spencer to flip on his Great-Uncle Hades?

Portia says she knows a thousand things could go wrong, and Curtis says, starting with Rory. If he clocks her, it will be obvious she’s responsible for administering the shot. She says, only if he finds out, and he says, what if he does? She says, then she gets caught. He says, which means goodbye job, goodbye good reputation, goodbye medical license, and goodbye career. She says, but the reward will be worth the risk if Oz regains consciousness and exonerates Trina. Then it will all have been worth it. There’s a knock at the door, and Austin comes in. He says, the nurses station is all abuzz, and Portia says, they’re kind of in the middle of something. Is it important? Austin says he doesn’t know. There’s a uniformed police officer stationed outside of an ICU room. Is that important? You tell me. Portia says, the patient is a potential witness for a crime that’s under investigation, and he says, got you. Thanks. Now the next time he can’t find Britt or Terry, he knows who to come to for answers. Are they okay? It seems a little edgy in here. Curtis says, family issue, and Austin says, the trial. Forgive him; he’s so sorry. He guesses he was distracted by the police presence. Curtis says, they’ve had the same thing on their mind, and Austin says he sincerely hopes everything goes their way. Sorry to interrupt. He leaves, and Curtis says, it’s getting dicey. Now not just Jordan and Rory’s eyes are on them, but Austin’s. She says, everyone’s eyes are on that room, and he asks if she’s got the feeling their timing is off, but she says, if not now, when? Portia’s phone rings, and she says, it’s Diane. She answers, listens, and thanks Diane for letting her know. Curtis asks, what is it? and Portia says, Diane tried to get Trina and got her voicemail. Diane’s not sure, but she thinks the jury is close to a verdict.

Sonny says he knows he’s not Josslyn’s favorite person these days, but would she hurt Trina to get back at him? She says she’ll never forgive him for what he did to her mother, but she’s grateful for what he did for her friend.

Trina says, Dex and Josslyn are friends? and he asks if that’s what Josslyn said. Her phone chirps, and she says she’s got a message. She picks up the phone, and listens.

Spencer says, if he’s Apollo, and Uncle Victor is Hades, that makes Martin Poseidon. Martin says, that, off the top of Spencer’s head, it makes him proud. Spencer says, he is Greek, and Martin says, even so. This Greek god has a ferry to catch, so what’s it going to be, nephew? Spencer says, no deal, and Martin tells him, he was afraid Spencer would say that. Very well. Sign here. He’ll report to Pentenville in two weeks. By the way, if he needs more help thinking it through, he could always call Spencer’s daddy, or Laura. Spencer says he doesn’t need his family weighing in on this, and that includes Martin. Right now, he’s not Spencer’s Great-Uncle Martin; he’s Spencer’s lawyer. And as Martin’s client, he’s telling Martin, his mind is made up. He signs the paper.

Maxie says, maybe she’s overreacting, and Lucy says, maybe. But maybe it’s her attempt to downplay a potential red flag from someone who was heretofore red flag free, and it’s causing her emotional and spiritual dissonance. But that’s for Maxie to say, not her. Maxie signals the waiter for another drink, and says, in the middle of planning a weekend away with her kids, Austin suddenly gets a phone call from Pautuck and has to flee? What could be so important that he’d blow them off? Lucy says, she doesn’t really buy his reason? and Maxie says, he didn’t give her one. And the timing is too convenient. What if Austin is having second thoughts about their relationship?

On the phone, Austin tells Mason that he has to stop. Stop hassling him. He had to stop by work… Will he stop?… Fine. He wins. They all win. He’ll drop everything. Tell her that he’s on his way.

Rory tells Jordan, no need to stick around. He’s got it. She says she wants to believe him, but he hasn’t answered her question. Can he put his badge above his feelings for Trina Robinson?

Dex tells Sonny, sorry to interrupt, but he thinks Josslyn’s friend needs her. Josslyn thanks him, and goes back to Trina. Sonny asks, what’s going down? and Dex says, word is, the jury’s coming back soon. Sonny says, all right. They’re about to find out how strong Dex’s powers of persuasion are.

Josslyn says, what is it? and Trina says, Diane thinks there might be a verdict today. Josslyn says, did she say if it was good or bad? It doesn’t matter. Diane did an excellent job establishing reasonable doubt; the jury will do the right thing. Trina says, and what if they don’t? and Josslyn says, then they’ll appeal. Trina says, and in the meantime, she’s in prison, not on house arrest. She just… She thought she had more time. They hug.

Curtis tells Portia, he doesn’t understand. Either the jury is back or it’s not. What makes Diane so sure they’ll be back with a verdict so soon? She says, apparently, Diane has a contact at the courthouse, and the jury has decided to work through lunch, and not order dinner. He says, okay, then they will be back. He was going to suggest they sleep on this, but… She says, they don’t have time to wait any longer. If they’re going to save Trina from going to prison, she has to wake Oz up right now.

Tomorrow, Dante asks if Cody is mad at Scotty or his mother; Britt says, what if none of the story is true; TJ is sorry to be the bearer of bad news; and Obrecht suggests Scotty didn’t know Dominique as well as he thought.

Southern Charm

Event planner Erica works with Patricia on the dog wedding, and Patricia likes that Erica is detail oriented and takes notes. Although I’m not sure how else she’d do her job. Madison is going to be maid of honor, and Venita wonders what she should wear. Madison tells her, anything fabulous. Venita says she doesn’t think they should wear fur to a dog wedding. Meanwhile, Shep and Whitney walk Little Craig and Peaches, hoping to get the dogs acquainted. Whitney says, Peaches is like a squirrel. It’s her first time on a leash. Shep says he heard Madison was going to be maid of honor, and Whitney says, Austen is the groomsmen. His mother wants him to play the Wedding March. She’s doing this because she thinks neither one of them will get married. The dogs have a better chance. Shep says, marriage is a big deal, and Whitney says, being with the same woman for eternity. Shep says, it begs the age old question of lust versus love. He doesn’t think he could do it. Whitney says, every year Ferrari comes out with a new model, and Shep says he doesn’t want to marry because he doesn’t want to get divorced. In Shep’s interview, he says, in his family, there are zero divorces. The bar is high, and if he fails at marriage, he’s failed at something. Nobody likes to fail. He tells Whitney that Taylor is fantastic, but he doesn’t know what to do. Whitney asks if she has a timeline, but Shep says, not at all. Peaches barks incessantly at another dog, and Shep says, Little Craig is in for a long one.

Friday. Olivia, Kathryn, and Taylor meet for a girls brunch. Olivia says, Marcie set her up with a date for the dog wedding. He’s a friend of Marcie and John’s. We see a clip of them telling Olivia about friend Zach, and Olivia says, Austen’s great, but she can’t figure out their relationship. Taylor says, she can’t figure out hers and Shep’s either. Austen video chats with his sister Katie, and wonders why Harry Potter can’t fix his glasses if he’s a wizard. And why is he the only one who wears glasses? Both valid points. She asks about Olivia, and Austen says, there’s something there, but he wants to continue to have fun. Katie tells him to make sure he doesn’t make his fun messy, and we flash back to Austen’s previous messiness, like the threesome. Katie tells him not to put himself in the position of cue the mess, and he thanks her for her sage wisdom. At the brunch, Kathryn says she wasn’t invited to the wedding, and in her interview, she imitates Patricia saying she’s going to host a lavish event. She says, it’s pathetic, and Taylor says, Kathryn is talking about her future mother-in-law.

Saturday – Chapter One. The cake arrives, and the topper is adorable, lifelike figurines of a French bulldog and a Pomeranian. Everyone gets ready for the event. Craig tells Paige that he sleeps better when she’s with him, and she says, all she hears is, zzzzzzz. Taylor and Shep give Little Craig a bath, and he’s the cutest thing, so small and all eyes. Olivia tells dad Gary that she’s going to a dog wedding, and Gary asks if the dogs know they’re getting married. He suggests she bring their dog along, and she says, Marcie set her up with a date. In Olivia’s interview, she says, there have been several offers of set-ups, but this is the first one she’s actually going through with. She tells Gary, it feels weird, bringing a date with Austen there, and Gary tell her to play the field. She says he’s been giving her that same advice for years. She’ll wait until her mom gets home. Patricia says she’s excited. It’s not every day your dog gets married. In Patricia’s interview, she says, it’s silly, but people love weddings and people love dogs, and it’s an excuse for a party. Madison arrives.

Chapter two. Olivia is introduced to Zach at Marcie and John’s, and in her interview, she says, considering it’s her first official blind date, she’s pleased. He’s handsome, tall, and has a great head of hair. So far, so good. They talk about pickleball, and toast to the wedding. Marcie hopes there’s a prenup. If there isn’t, Little Craig will be scoring. Shep and Taylor bring Little Craig in a limo. Little Craig farts, and Shep tells him, get it all out now. They give Little Craig marriage advice, and Shep says, do whatever you want. Taylor says, it’s going to be a long day.

Chapter Three. In Shep’s interview, he says, every girl has a syndrome Disney drilled into them, but there is no Prince Charming. The more perfect they seem, the more screwed up they are. Patricia says Peaches’ dress is better than any she had, and in her interview, she says, she was married three times. In a church, on a megayacht, and in a Fifth Avenue apartment by a Supreme Court judge. Obviously, it would be nice to see Whitney walking down the aisle, but as long as it’s a member of the family, she’s happy. Erica goes over the procession with the participants, and Little Craig heads for the pool. Shep is worried he’s going to pop the swan floatie, and runs to get him. Little Craig dodges Shep, thinking it’s a game, but Shep finally gets a leash on him. Taylor asks if Whitney is excited to be in-laws with Shep, and he says, it’s his life’s dream. Officiant Dr. Berger arrives, and Whitney does a sound check. Venita brings Charles in a tux, and Shep says, if Taylor starts crying because of a dog wedding, he doesn’t know what to do. Champagne is passed, and Madison comes out. She says, the bride is nervous, but doing great. In Austen’s interview, he says he knew this would happen when he was asked to be best man. Erica tells him that he and Madison will walk out together, and he says, it’s his nightmare to be on the altar with Madison. Erica promises it will be super sweet and fast. Marcie and John arrive with Olivia and Zach, and Austen frowns at them. He wonders who Olivia is with, and Taylor says, Olivia’s date is a handsome man.

Chapter Four.  Shep says, it’s ridiculous, but he’s here for it. He’s not even being cynical. Austen asks Olivia who her date is, and she says, Marcie set them up. Shep says, Zach seems cool, and in Austen’s interview, he says, it’s one of those things you say. You tell them you want them to date in the hopes that they really don’t. She just did what he told her to do. We flash back to three weeks ago, and Austen telling Olivia that he can’t expect her to wait around. Naomie says it seems awkward with Madison and Austen, and asks Madison, what changed? They were fine at her house. Madison says she got engaged, and we flash back to Austen making a hasty exit at Olivia’s party. Naomie says, it’s awkward around Craig now. He’s creating boundaries out of respect for Paige. In Naomie’s interview, she says, it looks insane that she wants to be friendly, but she’d thought they were cool. As they approach the house, Paige tells Craig, this is some rich people sh*t if I’ve ever seen it. Paige is the only one without a jacket, and it’s freezing. Naomie says, they’ll peer pressure someone into giving her one, and suggests Craig pony up. In Craig’s interview, he wonders what’s going through Naomie’s head that she thinks she knows what’s best for him and his girlfriend. He doesn’t think she’s getting it. She’s not respecting boundaries. Nevertheless, he gives up his jacket. It’s raining lightly, and Erica wants to try and do the ceremony before the big clouds come. Patricia asks if Little Craig is chickening out.

Chapter Five. Appetizers are passed, and Whitney sets up, saying, his equipment is being temperamental. Erica gives everyone petals to toss when the dogs say I do. Shep wants to get the ceremony out of the way so they can start having fun. Austen asks if he’s supposed to walk slow-fashioned, and I wonder if that’s even a real phrase. The bride enters, and she’s incredibly cute in her little wedding dress. It starts to rain harder, and Patricia says, what a disaster. Austen snipes at Madison, who asks why he’s being weird. A keyboardist starts the Wedding March, and Whitney comes in on electric guitar.

Patricia walks Peaches down aisle, but Peaches doesn’t want to come. Charles jumps down from his seat, and he and Peaches sniff at one another. Shep says, it’s a last minute rejection. She’s a runaway bride. Shep grabs Peaches, and everyone applauds. Craig tells Whitney, who thought they’d ever see Madison and Austen at the altar? and in Olivia’s interview, she says she feels bad for Austen. He seems to be in a sh*t situation. But she’s just going to have fun with Jake. A producer says, his name is Zach. Shep runs to get Little Craig’s top hat, and it doesn’t get much cuter. Dr. Berger begins the ceremony, joining these canines in holy muttrimony. In Taylor’s interview, she says, Shep would probably tell the pastor to hurry up. It’s been five minutes too long. Even though they only started a minute ago. In Shep’s interview, he says he’s a let’s skip the wedding and go right to the reception kind of guy. Dr. Berger says, love, like pups, makes messes and leaves us surprises. It needs cleaning up after, and sometimes needs to get fixed, but he’s already taken care of that. In Craig’s interview, he says he’s a romantic at heart, and wants to live a rom-com life. He’s getting excited thinking about a possible wedding with Paige. Dr. Berger asks if they take each other, and if they will share toys, and not get jealous when other dogs sniff their private parts at the dog park. The petals are thrown, and the dogs seem disappointed that it’s not something edible.

Patricia says, it’s time for the reception; let them eat cake. Patricia explains the armadillo bachelor cake to Craig, and Venita says her dog is next. Olivia thanks Marcie for setting her and Jake Zach up. He’s fun, and she’s having a good time. In Craig’s interview, he says, if Austen doesn’t want to date Olivia, why does he care if she dates someone else? And if he does care, he should date her. Austen whines to Leva about Olivia bringing a date. Marcie says, she told Austen that if he didn’t make a move, someone else would. He didn’t hear her, so now he can see it. In Leva’s interview, she says, Austen is a f***ing moron. Lock her down or she’s gone. Madison sits near Austen, who is visibly uncomfortable. She says her duties are over, and Venita asks if she got any inspiration. Madison tells Austen that she was just trying to say hello, and he says, they have no reason to talk. Everything she dos is like a subtle dig at him. She asks for an example, and Austen says, when she announced she was engaged, she said the only ex that was important was her ex-husband. In Patricia’s interview, she wonders, what’s going on? Why are there altercations at a dog wedding? Austen says, Madison just can’t help it. She tries to make it look like everything is his fault; it’s the definition of gaslighting. Naomie is sitting near Craig, who jumps at the first chance to escape, and in Naomie’s interview, she says, she’s tired of the awkwardness. She doesn’t want Paige to think she’s after her boyfriend. She’s not trying to get with Craig. At least not anymore. Austen says he’s 0 for 2, and Paige tells him that Ciara is in town. Craig says, she’s sleeping on his couch.

Austen says, why not? Olivia brought a date, lumberjack chic. In Craig’s interview, he says, Austen should sit down with a therapist. To do something out of revenge probably isn’t the right thing to do. Naomie asks if she and Craig can chat casually and quickly; it’s not a big deal. They step away, and Madison tells Paige, exes always have feelings. Paige says, like they missed out? Naomie’s loss; her gain. In his interview, Craig says he’s balancing being respectful and kind to Naomie, but pulling him aside at a group event is weird. He asks what the problem is, and she asks why it’s feeling awkward. He says, it’s a respect thing. They’re not just exes; they hooked up recently. Naomie says she feels like sometimes he acts a certain way, and Craig asks if she’s insinuating he acts differently when his girlfriend is here. I don’t know why she’d think that when he acted like he was in the Witness Protection Program when Paige wasn’t even in the state. Naomie says she was in the same situation when she was dating Metul. She felt like she wasn’t allowed to interact with Craig. Craig says, that’s because she was with someone controlling as hell. She was never in his position. She left to be with a controlling a-hole who dumped her. In the meantime, her loving boyfriend moved on. She’ll never be in the same position that he is. She won’t affect his life anymore. She just won’t. He walks out, finds Paige, and says, he’s ready to go.

Next time, Kathryn thinks she and Chleb should take a break; the group stays at a Frank Lloyd Wright house; ATV and horseback riding; Shep says, it’s not a f***ing kumbaya; and Craig says, it sounds like jealousy and deflection.

🎸 Rocking Around the Clock…

Take a load off tomorrow for some soap, tea, sager wisdom than Marcie’s, and whatever earworm I’m feeling. Until then, stay safe, stay centered, and stay keeping your head down and your mouth shut. Oh wait. That’s Spencer. Never mind.

July 30, 2019 – A Trick Up Shiloh’s Sleeve, the End Of BH As We Know It, the Feels, No Mama & O-U-T

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sam, Jason, and Danny go to the park. Sam and Jason talk bikes while Danny plays ball. Sam asks Jason not to buy Danny a bike until he’s twenty.

On the phone, Shiloh says he wants the Job finished today, and to call when it’s done. Danny’s ball rolls near him, and he picks it up. He asks if Danny remembers him.

Kim opens one of Drew’s medals. He says the originals must have been confiscated when he went AWOL. Oscar had them replaced. Oscar’s last gift to him was a piece of his past.

Curtis meets Jordan and Stella at the MetroCourt. He says he only has a minute. He has to do a security walk-through at Aurora. Stella says she’s proud of him. Head of security is impressive, and better than chasing shadows and digging up other people’s secrets.

Peter goes to Lulu’s place. He tells her that he must have dropped his wallet in the couch cushions, and digs around. She says Rocco is at the Quartermaine’s and Charlotte’s father just her. He says he noticed she took a personal day. Is she okay? She says, everything is fabulous. She takes a sip of wine, which she’s obviously been drinking for a while. She says she’s taking Maxie’s advice, grabbing life by… whatever you grab life by, and throwing herself back into the mix.

Valentin tells Obrecht, welcome back to Windymere. She tells him, stop hovering, but he says he’d hate to see her take a tumble over the side. She says she knows the house well. She was holding people hostage there long before he showed up. Nina comes out, and Obrecht thanks her for her concern, but she’s safe in her own home. Valentin says she lives by herself. If anything happens, who knows when, or if, she’ll be discovered. Nina says it’s giving her peace of mind. Obrecht says, it’s not necessary, and they already have a full house with Charlotte and Sasha. Sasha joins them, and Nina tells her to let Obrecht know how roomy the house is. Sasha says they’re going to have even more room when she moves out.

Ryan picks up the phone, and tells Ava, hello darling. Has she missed him as much as he missed her? He saw her Crimson cover. It was evocative. And Midnight in the Garden pf Good and Ava, appropriate imagery. She says he never struck her as the type to follow fashion. He says that’s because she only saw him mimic his brother’s banal sense of style, but he threw in some flair. He has his own aesthetic. She says she noticed. She tells him, as he may have guessed, it’s not a social call. He asks, how can that be? He only ever thinks of her. He laughs, and says there has been something else on his mind. Not so much a who, but a what; his kidney, the one stolen from him. Did she happen to have a hand in that? At first she’s confused, but then the lightbulb comes on, and she says, that would make sense. She wondered why he, of all people, donated an organ, to the Commissioner no less. She thought he was offered a deal, but now he’s telling her that they actually stole it. Those self-righteous hypocrites. No wonder… he holds them in contempt. He tells her that she almost said we. She gets him. No matter how much she thinks she hates him, she knows him, like he knows her. He missed that. She says she hasn’t, and he says, of course not (🍷), but obviously she needs something from him. How can he help?

Stella tells Curtis, that came out wrong. A corporate job must be nice change. He says, it has its advantages; regular hours, a salary, generous benefits, especially while Jordan is recovering. Jordan says it will be better when she’s up to full speed, but Curtis tells her to take her time. Stella says they both deserve a rest, although it must be tame after chasing Ryan. Maybe Curtis will find some corporate espionage to spice things up.

Nina says Sasha promised to stay for the wedding. She can’t move back to Chappaqua now. Sasha says she’s not. She’s finding her own apartment. Between the job and some other things, she’s decided to stay. Nina hugs her, and says she’s so thrilled. When she sees Michael Other Things Corinthos, she’ll have to thank him. Sasha tells her not to say anything, and spare her the embarrassment, but Nina says she never got the chance to show Sasha’s prom date her baby pictures. She has to make up for lost time. Nina asks Obrecht if it isn’t wonderful, but Obrecht says she’s calculating the distance to shore, in case she decides to go swimming for exercise. Valentin asks if she can’t stay out of the water, and she says she’ll be better prepared for sharks this time. Nina says they don’t have them there, but Obrecht says, they’re not necessarily in the water. Nina is excited that her daughter chose to live in Port Charles. Obrecht says she’s brave, considering the crime rate and the low number of convictions. Nina sits between Valentin and Obrecht, and puts her arms around them. She says she has everyone she loves close by. Just the way she likes it. Neither Obrecht nor Valentin look thrilled.

Kim asks if Drew had no idea, and he says he was completely blindsided. She says, it’s pretty spectacular. Drew says he wishes they’d got there in time for Oscar to see them, but Kim says Oscar didn’t need medals for him to think Drew was a hero. She thinks he ordered them so Drew could be as sure as Oscar was that he’s a good man.

Shiloh asks Danny if his mom and dad are around. Jason runs up, and tells Danny to go back to his mom. Danny asks if he’s in trouble, but Jason says, not at all. Shiloh tells Danny to say hi to his mom. Danny runs off, and Shiloh tells Jason he has a lovely little boy despite his efforts to close him off. Jason says, do not approach his family again. Shiloh asks what Jason is going to do; it’s a public place, and Danny is a few feet away. How is he going to explain beating a guy for telling the truth? Jason says Shiloh assaulted Danny’s mother, calling him Hank. He asks if Shiloh wants another beating. He can’t speak if his jaw is wired, and he can’t grope anyone with two broken hands. Like the big baby he is, Shiloh says he’ll tell his lawyer that Jason has been making threats. He leaves, and Danny asks Jason if everything is okay. Jason says, it’s all good.

Kim asks Drew if the medals came with any paperwork, and he tells her the citations are there. She says she’d love to know what he did to earn them, and he gives her the envelope.

Lulu tells Peter, Maxie is right. She has so many amazing things in her life. For instance, her children. She has a kickass job with a kickass boss. She has a byline. People know who she is, and her stories make a difference. He says he knows that; he publishes them. She says she helped to catch a serial killer. She’s so much more than Dante’s wife. She’s Leslie Lou Spencer, and what she is, is remarkable. It’s hard to feel amazing and abandoned, but she’s more remarkable than abandoned. Peter is sure Dante is remarkable too, but from where he’s standing, Dante is an idiot.

Jordan asks Stella what’s going on with her. How’s Marcus? Stella says, same as usual. Very much in love with his wife. He’s in a very complicated, heartbreaking situation, all of which she’s accepted. Jordan says it’s wonderful how they’ve become such great friends, and Stella agrees it’s nice they’re in each other’s lives again. Jordan asks what about her genealogy search. Did she follow up? Stella says, nothing. She took the bait, and gave them money to send the relative a letter about meeting, but they never heard back. Jordan tells her, give it time. Stella says, whoever the mystery relative is, they’ve chosen to stay a mystery. Curtis and Jordan exchange looks, and Stella says they’re doing that thing couples do when they want to work your last nerve. Jordan says she took it upon herself to send the genetic markers to a friend in forensics. Stella asks if she’s related to Billy Dee Williams, and Curtis says, that would be awesome. Jordan says, genetically speaking, it’s a much closer relation than they thought.

Drew tells Kim that he got a medal for saving Shiloh, and she says, Shiloh claims that’s the moment he turned his life around, and embraced the light. Drew says he saved a man who turned out to be a con artist, but Kim says he couldn’t know that then. He says, according to Shiloh, they were best buddies. Kim looks at the paperwork, and says according to this, he rescued a civilian contractor, and went back to rescue SEAL Charles Tex Owens. Maybe he can give Drew information, and shed light on his supposed friendship with Shiloh.

Danny asks, what happened? Did he do something wrong? Jason says he did everything he was asked and didn’t argue. Sam says she’s the one who made a mistake. She should never have introduced Danny to Shiloh. He’s a bad man she was investigating, and should have told him. Danny asks why she didn’t, and she says she didn’t want to confuse him. Jason is pretty sure Shiloh knows not to come near Danny, but if he does, Danny should get them or an adult he trusts. He tells Danny not to be afraid; just be aware. Shiloh won’t hurt him, and if he tries, they’ll stop him.

Ava tells Ryan that she’s working with someone to reach Kiki. Kiki’s spirit can’t find peace. Ryan doesn’t see what that has to do with him, but she says, he killed her. He separated her soul from her body. The least he can do is help her put Kiki’s soul to rest

When they’re alone, Valentin says he owes Sasha an apology. He told her to steer clear of Michael, but now that she’s formed an emotional attachment, it might work in both their favors. She says she’s been trying to tell him that. Nina wants her there, and is happy she’s staying, but he’s the man Nina loves. Charlotte is Nina’s stepdaughter, and they’re a family. Valentin says she’s part of the family now. It’s not how he planned it, but sometimes things work out for the better. Sasha is everything he’d hoped for in a daughter for Nina. He’s happy she’s developed a life of her own that will keep her close by. That leaves just one problem; Obrecht. She asks how he suggest they handle that, and he tells her, leave it to him. He has a few ideas. Outside the door, Obrecht listens.

Jordan explains the DNA comparison between Stella and the mystery relative, showing her the percentage of genetic material they have in common. Stella asks if that makes them cousins, and then asks Curtis why he’s looking at her like that. Curtis says she knows nothing in the past or present could affect how they love and respect her. She says she’s starting to wonder, and he says, if something happened when she was younger, maybe before she lived with them, like perhaps having a child she couldn’t keep, she can tell him.

Stella asks if Curtis has lost his mind. She doesn’t have a secret love child roaming around. He says he didn’t think so, and she asks why he said that. He says, just on the off-chance, he wanted her to know she could tell them. She knows his heart is in the right place, but she’s told him time and again that he and his brother are all the children she needed. This has officially become more trouble than it’s worth. The truth can’t possibly be as crazy as the story they cooked up. Jordan says she’s closely related, but Stella says they have no intention of meeting with her, and she has no need to search the world for a stranger.

Lulu asks Peter what he said about her husband. He’s wonderful and amazing, so are their kids. He’s going through something horrible. Peter says he was there when Dante shot him. He doesn’t think Dante even knew what he was doing. But he doesn’t understand how Dante could walk away from them. She says, he has PTSD. Peter says, he abandoned the family he claims to love. She says he does love them. That’s why he’s making this choice; the most difficult choice of his life. He’s protecting them, knowing he might not return, in order to make her feel safer.

Ava tells Ryan, in death, as in life, Kiki refuses to speak to her. The psychic said Kiki thinks Ryan still has a hold on her, and needs to let her go. he asks, how? and she says the psychic seems think if he apologizes, Kiki will finally be able rest. He says, okay, and she says, so he’ll apologize for taking Kiki’s life, and let her go? He says, of course (🍷). Confession is good for the soul, but it’s not specified which soul. It’s not helping to remind Ava of who she is; a force to be reckoned with. Not some patsy being taken in by a con artist. The dead are dead. There are no souls wandering the earth for resolution. Kiki isn’t restless. Her soul doesn’t exist, and never did. He tells Ava, go home and come back after she gets the help she clearly needs. He hangs up the phone.

Drew and Kim approach Curtis’s table. Stella tells them again that she’s sorry for their loss. Drew thanks her, and tells Curtis the offices are emptied. His team can finish securing the area, and when Curtis is ready. Drop Drew a line when he’s done. He’s sure they’ll be safer.

Danny asks if he can go over his soccer moves, and Sam tells him to stay where they can see him. She asks Jason if he thinks Danny is okay, and Jason says, he seems to be. She doesn’t want him to be afraid that Shiloh is lurking somewhere. Jason thinks Danny trusts them to deal with Shiloh. Now, they just need to figure out how do that.

Shiloh waits. He remembers telling Drew that they could run a sting. Root the bastards out, and trick the sellers. They could split the money, and never see each other again. Returning to the present, he says, where the hell are you?

Ryan picks the phone back up.  Ava says he’s right about one thing; he has no soul. It’s a comfort to know, once he’s gone, he’s gone for good. He’s nothing on the outside, and it matches what’s on the inside. He says, that’s more like it. There’s his Ava. She says whoever stole his kidney shouldn’t have stopped. He should be dead. The knife she plunged in his back should have killed him. He says that’s what he missed so much. Her veracity and passion. It was one of the first things he fell in love with. She says, then let her go. He says, whoever said if you love something, set it free was just making excuses. Why would you want it to go anywhere? That’s not how it works. She says, please, and begs him to let her go, so Kiki can rest in peace.

Lulu asks if Peter is trying reverse psychology on her; pissing her off about Dante so she defends him. Peter says he’s being honest because he cares. Lulu says he thinks he understands, but has no idea. They had issues like everyone else, but the bad was so small and insignificant, it was nothing compared to the good. How good it felt to love each other. That’s why Dante is staying away; he loves them. Peter wonders why he can’t find another way that doesn’t rip the family apart. Lulu says Peter reminds her of herself, passing out advice like she has a clue regarding what she’s talking about. It’s easy to Monday morning quarterback other people. If he had loved anyone before Maxie, maybe he’d understand. He says maybe he is love challenged, and is unfamiliar with the ins and outs, but if it hurts this much, maybe Lulu is better off without Dante. He walks out.

Nina says Obrecht’s room is being prepared. She tells Valentin that Obrecht insisted on the room farthest away from them. Obrecht says why should her snoring bother anyone. Valentin says her generosity in thinking of others is uncharacteristic. Sasha says she has to meet Michael. They’re going away, but she’ll send Nina her contact info. Nina looks at her phone, and says she’s been waiting for this. Obrecht asks if another body has been found, but Nina says it’s the new numbers from Crimson. They’ve exceeded expectations, and are annihilating the competition. She wants to get out the best champagne, and hopes Jax and Hayden choke on it at dinner. Obrecht says, Hayden is coming there tonight? Nina knows Hayden and Obrecht hate each other, and Obrecht accused Hayden of trying to kill her, but this is a super important business dinner. Obrecht says she’d rather eat in the barn, and Nina tells her, just don’t set it on fire this time. Everything is coming together. Crimson is on top, her beautiful daughter has decided to stay in town, and has found love. Sasha says they haven’t said the L-word yet, but Nina says it will happen. And her aunt didn’t drown. Obrecht says Nina needs to raise the bar. Nina says she’s marrying Valentin in September, and it’s going to be the happiest day. There’s nothing to worry about, and nothing to stress them. They can just focus on their happiness. She kisses Valentin, and Sasha says she needs to go. Nina leaves to see about dinner, and Obrecht says, so the wedding is going on as planned? and Valentin says, which begs the question, why would he jeopardize Nina’s happiness by harming Obrecht?

Kim understands why Drew doesn’t want the procedure done – he doesn’t want to risk his relationship with Oscar or Scout – but the medals are a great gateway to his past. Drew says, not just his. Shiloh’s redemption story hinges on Drew saving him. Now there’s another witness to prove he’s a liar.

Stella tells Jordan that she has to get to work. Jordan looks at her, and she says, what now? Jordan says her friend from forensics found something. Stella says she told Jordan to drop it, and she means it. Jordan says Stella might reconsider. Her friend used the same lab that the PCPD uses, and the information suggests Stella’s relation lives in the greater Port Charles area.

Ryan tells Ava that if she really believes the truth will set Kiki free, here it is. He doesn’t regret doing anything, if it meant being by Ava’s side and in her bed. Deep down, he thinks she feels the same way, but she says, not true. He says she consented to everything they did, and she says she consented to Doc. Ryan says she wouldn’t look twice at Doc. She consented to being with him. He suggests she look up the word deception. She tells him to consider taking that back if. He laughs, and tells her, ask herself why he would want her be less haunted by her love for him, than he is for her? She says she hates him, and he says, that’s two sides of… she knows the rest. If the psychic is right, they’re bound together for eternity, and he takes small comfort in that.

Obrecht tells Valentin, stop the petty torment and mind games. She knows he’s the one who tried to kill her. He says, cut the crap. If he wanted her dead, she’d be dead. He has a vested interest in Nina’s happiness. If she’s looking for who pushed her, look at someone else. It’s not him. Not this time.

Jason tells Sam that DOD is practically shut down. Shiloh’s followers are leaving, and his offshore assets are frozen. Sam says the Pledges were destroyed, and Shiloh has been stopped from going near Wiley. Jason thinks Shiloh still has another trick up his sleeve. They’ve just got to figure out what it is.

Curtis goes into Drew’s office, and finds the credenza open and ransacked. He makes a call saying he needs some guys there now.

Someone meets Shiloh, but we don’t see who they are. He asks if they got it. He’s handed the flashdrive, and he says, nice work.

Tomorrow, Alexis wonders how her sex life became a hot topic, Valentin says Cassandra has resurfaced, and Drew tells Shiloh that he’s going to find out what happened in Afghanistan.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – The Reunion – Part Three

Almost done with The Real Housewives of Self-Righteous Hypocrisy.

Backtracking a little, Camille says Denise told her to tell her daughter that she’s an effing liar in regard to Teddi’s snub. Denise says Camille needs to take a second. Because this is not good. Andy asks what was going through Denise’s mind at lunch, when Camille trash talked everyone. Denise starts saying she was uncomfortable, and Camille gets up. She says, it’s a set-up, and leaves, taking off her dress as she goes. Denise asks if she’s on something. She’s so angry. Backstage, Camille calls them nasty bitches, and Denise says, she’s effing nuts. Denise never said that.

Andy goes backstage, and Camille says, that’s it. She’s done. Andy asks, what set-up? and she says Denise did say she cursed at her kids. We view some unseen footage that backs up what Camille is saying. On stage, Denise says she never told Camille to tell her daughter that she’s a liar. Erika says she’s speechless, and she’s rarely speechless. LisaR says Camille didn’t want them at her wedding. We go back to last week, where Camille said it was just for production. Camille tells Andy that they were nasty about her wedding, but Andy says, they thought it was great. Camille points out that Teddi claimed the best part of her wedding was leaving. We see a clip from the Watch What Happens Live aftershow where Teddi says just that.

Kyle says, Camille was so mean, and LisaR says, no one ever said they didn’t want her somewhere. I find that hard to believe. Camille tells Andy that they want her to jump on the LVP hate train. She understands how they feel, but she still misses LVP. Can’t she say something nice about LVP without them jumping on her? She feels ganged up on because she didn’t gang up on LVP. Kyle says Camille isn’t being genuine, and Andy tells Camille that he thinks they feel she says one thing to them, and another behind their backs. Camille says, they all talk about each other. Andy thinks if she was consistent, there would be no issue. Camille doesn’t know what issue Denise has with her, and Andy says Camille just said she didn’t like Denise. LisaR says Camille is much angrier than she realized. Andy asks Camille to come back for more torture.

Andy goes back, and tells the women that Camille feels they want her to talk sh*t about LVP. He told her they wanted her to be consistent, but she’s upset because they trashed her wedding on the aftershow. Kyle says, it’s Camille on season one times ten. Camille returns, and Kyle says, it’s so awkward, but LisaR says they’re glad Camille came back. Andy asks why Camille is crying, because either he’s a total idiot or wants to make her cry harder. She says it’s been hard for her to talk to them. She was very hurt after the wedding. LisaR asks if she’s okay, and if there’s something more going on. Camille says she was really hurt, and LisaR says, it was a great wedding. Camille reminds Teddi that she said the best part was the departure. It broke her heart. She thought they had fun. Teddi says they did enjoy it, and they being shady. They’d heard terrible things that Camille said. She didn’t know Camille was mad during the camping trip. She never said anything. Camille says she was just mad in that moment, but Teddi says she didn’t just talk about it once. Camille says she’s had a lot going on. She doesn’t even remember everything that happened specifically.

On top of the large volume of flashbacks, they also keep overlapping when we come back from a commercial break. Did they seriously not have enough material without LVP? Kyle tells Camille that she said she didn’t want to invite them to her wedding. She’s feeling hurt, and it’s confusing. Camille says she’s confused too. Kyle says she knows Camille is a good person; just be honest. She knows it’s hard sometimes. It was hard for her go to LVP and be honest. Andy says Camille made serious claims about Dorit’s financial status, but said she was protecting her. Camille says she didn’t want to say anything, and Dorit says, but she did. We flash back to that, and Erika says, it was a thinly veiled threat; I know something about you. Camille says, it was irresponsible, hurtful, and mean. She realized after she said it, and felt horrible. Dorit says she’ll always have shadow of doubt, and can’t trust what Camille says is real. Andy tells Camille that she said she doesn’t care for Denise. Was there something specific? Camille says she didn’t like what Denise said about her daughter lying. Denise insists she told Camille to reassure her daughter, and tell her Teddi was just in a hurry. She doesn’t think she would say anything like that, but if she did, she’s sorry.

Andy brings up the controversial conversation about Brett Kavanaugh, and how it took a personal turn. We flash back to that, and he asks if Camille feels misunderstood about what she said. Camille says she feels people need be heard and believed. LisaR says she thinks having the conversation was a good thing. She thinks it’s important that victims be believed; her mom is one. She’s a survivor, and so is Camille. Erika is a survivor. Erika says Camille is a survivor of a lot of things. Andy asks what it was like for Camille, walking through the embers of her house. She says they were lucky to salvage some stuff, like baby pictures. She starts to cry as we flash back. Andy says he can’t imagine, and everyone says they’re sorry. Erika says but Camille does have the ability to rebuild. Thank God she’s safe, and she’s got the kids. Camille says she lost Scott too; her assistant and confidant is gone. Andy says it struck him when she said she lost her house, but losing a friend is more difficult.

Andy says Denise had to run out of the house at a moment’s notice. Her house was okay, but all of their belongings had smoke damage. Denise says every piece of clothing, but it’s stuff. For her it was her kids and her dogs. It was moving so fast, and they had to get out. Andy says it’s nice that the other women brought them clothes. Camille says, it was very kind. Andy stirs the pot by reminding Camille that she said Denise doesn’t understand the heartache. Her rented house didn’t burn down. Denise doesn’t know the reason. She thinks they’ve been empathetic. She and Camille talked several times. Who gives sh*t if she was renting? They’ve been figuring out where to live, and she wondered where this was coming from; what did she do to Camille that Camille thinks she’s not empathetic? Camille doesn’t know; she has no answer. She’s sorry. Denise says, this is where we think before we speak, making me want to smack her, even if I agree. She says Camille said some extremely hurtful things that had no truth to them. She’s talking out of her ass. Denise says she’s been nothing but nice, kind, and supportive. Camille says she’s had a difficult year. She doesn’t have a home; her family has been displaced; and her mom is very sick. She’s overwhelmed. LisaR comes over, and sits next to Camille, putting an arm around her. Camille says she was nervous to come. Denise wonders if she needs to take a minute, but Camille says she’ll be okay. LisaR says she’s been through a lot. Andy asks if she regrets being so open in her opinions. Camille says she’s been wrong, and she’s sorry if she’s been cruel. Andy suggests they take a break, and air the room out.

Andy says the jet setting housewives took their wanderlust to the next level. We flash back to their Bahamas trip, France, and camping. A viewer says Kyle having a Rolex postmated to the dinner table was the diva behavior to which she aspires. Andy asks if she needs Mauricio’s permission to make a purchase. Kyle says, first of all, she had the watch delivered that was because the shop was going to be closed, and for a big purchase, she checks with Mauricio, and he does the same. Erika says she doesn’t buy her own jewelry because Tom likes to do it. Dorit says, anything over $10K. Oh yeah. For me too. Andy asks how much Camille’s wedding cost, and she says, $120K. Her first wedding was closer to a million, but a lot was spent on security. A viewer can’t believe the spent $700 on groceries for one night when they went camping. Andy asks what happened to the leftovers, and Teddi says they donated them to the other campers. Everyone talks about how often they personally grocery shop, which is more than you’d think, but I would too. He asks what LisaR had packed in her bag, and she says, everything. We flash back to Erika asking, what’s in the bag? A dead body? Vanderpump? Erika says LisaR is their resident pharmacy – in a good way. Andy says people were surprised they were without a glam squad in Provence. Erika says they were fine; they’re capable. He asks when Kyle was more hammered, clubbing or the wine tasting, and she says, Provence. We flash back to her helping Teddi up the stairs. Erika doesn’t know how they were still walking upright. Kyle says they also had extreme jet lag. In nine years, it was the most she’d consumed, and the worst it’s gotten. Andy tells her, that’s saying something.

And in the moment we all knew was coming, we flash back to Puppygate and the Radar Online article. Dorit says it was no longer about the dog, but about her friendship with LVP. We see Kyle’s involvement, and her wondering how she was going to say LVP had nothing to do with it, when she’d been accused of it before. We go way back to the reunion where Adrienne said LVP had leaked a story. We see the beginning of LVP’s argument with Kyle, and LVP asking Camille if she’ll have to take a lie detector test. Andy says a practicing attorney told them the test was 70% accurate, and not admissible in court. Erika says, Tom weighed in, and said they were unreliable, but can be good if the right person [administers] them. Dorit is also suddenly a font of information about the tests. Denise wonders how LVP found it. Andy says he’s skeptical about how Kyle found out, and asks if she’s sure production didn’t tell her about it. Kyle says the family of one of her daughter’s friends was burglarized, and they had the construction workers take one. Andy asks why she’d dispute it’s validity, and Kyle says they’ve used it with workers, and someone failed who she knew didn’t do it. I’m wondering how she knows that for sure, but okay. I’m also guessing the test would be more likely to err in this direction if the person was super nervous. Kyle says the friend said the lady with the dog was there. LVP did a practice run, then had production film it. Andy asks why they think LVP had a trial run, and Kyle says, to see if she passed. Erika says, so when the cameras showed up, she gave a great performance. Andy tells them the boss at Radar said LVP wasn’t the source, and has never been an anonymous source. Kyle says someone in that position wouldn’t normally make statements unless they’re a friend. She doesn’t think Radar is losing sleep over whether LVP leaked a story or not. Camille asks if Denise thinks it could be someone from the center. Denise says, maybe. LisaR says LVP isn’t stupid enough to make the call herself. She’d have someone else do it. She says LVP talks through the press. That’s how she announced she was leaving the show.  Andy talks about LVP’s digs at them via social media. Kyle says they’ve been accused of bullying LVP, but haven’t stooped that low. We see a clip of LVP joking about Erika tucking, and the mini backlash that followed it. It’s pointed out by a viewer that Erika talks about her d*ck on the show, so what’s the difference? Erika says LVP was taking a swipe at her and being funny, but hurt a viable community. I love how it’s always someone who isn’t a member of a viable community, uses that for their own agenda. Andy says, considering LVP’s brother had committed suicide, viewers felt it was a pile-on when LVP wasn’t in the best state of mind. We flash back to one of the few times we’ve seen LVP cry. Kyle says they all have empathy, and Dorit says they spoke a lot, almost every day. LisaR doesn’t think they were mean girls or they bullied LVP. Kyle says LVP’s Behavior wasn’t a new thing. Andy tells them LVP said she wasn’t watching the show. Teddi says, when you’re surrounded by people who tell you what you want to hear, you lose the ability for self-reflection.

Andy says LVP and Kyle’s rollercoaster of a relationship came to the end of its run. We flash back to their friendship, and LVP saying they’re partners in crime, and end with that miserable fight, which I’d love to never see again. Kyle cries, and says, it’s sad. It’s sad LVP isn’t there. She paid the ultimate price by being honest. She has thought about how it might have played out if she hadn’t told LVP. Dorit says, it’s a sad end. Andy asks what the prediction is for the future. Kyle says she had thought LVP would show up. Camille cries too. Andy says he hates to see it. Since he’s so choked up, without even missing a beat, he says, Ken’s infamous farewell went viral with the #GoodbyeKyle challenge. We see clips of various people saying, goodbye, Kyle, Harry Hamlin and Kris Jenner among them. Andy asks what the intention was, and Kyle says she was being trolled on Twitter, and people were using the hashtag. Instead of taking it, she decided to make a joke out of it. She says it’s another example of LVP making her look bad. Her sister Kathy was at their house, and even though LVP acted wounded, they were laughing about it. She thinks LVP thought it was funny. She says LVP has amazing qualities, and you take the good with the bad with friends. Andy says he’ll leave it there. He thanks Camille, who says it was heart wrenching. She had a lot of emotions going on, and she’s sorry if she hurt anyone. She adds that she adores Kyle, and they hug. LisaR gives Camille kudos for showing up.

Andy says in the final moments, he wonders what the most surprising revelation was for the newest Housewife. Denise says the friendships between the women. Also the friendships she formed. She knows they’d be there for her, and vice versa. In LA, that’s something wonderful to have. Andy says that in an interview, Erika says she allowed herself form a sisterhood, something she hadn’t had before.  Does she think she’s changed? Erika thinks they’ve all changed. Dorit says her friendships were challenged, and Andy asks if she feels secure. She says she does in this group, throwing one last dig at LVP.  Andy asks if Teddi still feels pressured to be the moral compass for her friends. Teddi says she’s learned a lot, about her friends and herself. It was a good wake-up call. Andy reminds LisaR that last season, she was the nicest effing version of LisaR. What about this season. She asks what he says, and he tells her that he’d say she’s just an a-hole with iconic hair and lips, which I assume is referring to some earlier joke. Or Andy is being totally rude. LisaR says she thinks she was forthcoming. He says for Kyle, the season ended a long friendship with LVP. How else does she want it to be remembered? She says she’s been asked a lot how she can still be doing the show, but she has fun with the women. Even though a door closed, she doesn’t know what the future holds. They’ve all bonded, and opened up. They’ve shared more than they ever have, and she laughed so much. Andy begs to open LVP’s birthday present, and Kyle says okay, but he has to put the bow back on. It’s from Manolo Blahnik. Andy takes out a pink belt with a sparkly buckle. Teddi suggests he wants for the clubhouse, but Kyle says she’s sending it. She thought she was going to give it to LVP today.

Tequila shots appear, and Andy says they’re well-earned. They’ve been troopers. It was a wild season, but he’s glad they got closure. It was a nice way to end it. He asks who’s going to lead them in a toast, and Denise says, Queen Kyle. Kyle says, to friendships, and being honest with each other, and being there for each other, and continuing to grow in their friendships. Dorit says she’s grateful for them, and everyone clinks glasses. Andy thanks them for a great season.

🍸 My Own Wrap-Up…

I’m sad that I’m glad this is over. I remember thinking during the first episode of the entire franchise, The Real Housewives of Orange County, that this was the future of television. There had been reality TV before. While most of us don’t remember the Loud family – stars of An American Family on PBS in the early 70s – although their show has been rerun from time to time. I spent one New Year’s Day hungover and fascinated with it. Probably the most popular up until now is The Real World, which was actually a good show before it became the hot-tub-drunk-sex show. People had lives and jobs and meaningful interactions, both with their housemates and people on the outside. But for some reason, when the Housewives began, the world was ready for a change in programming, and here we are.

I’ve never missed an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. While I’ve let some Wives fall by the wayside – looking at you, Atlanta and Potomac – and there were others I struggled to find – The Real Housewives of Sydney, anyone? – I’ve stuck with these women through thick and thin. There has been no season, however, that made me want to stop watching until now.

I’ve joked that if LVP would adopt an older child, I’d be on her doorstep in a heartbeat, and said she can do no wrong, but I’m not daft. She doesn’t walk on water, and we all have faults. But the relentless raking her over the coals was insane. They even talked about her throughout most of the reunion, which I might add, must have been lacking in material since a good 40% of it was flashbacks. With another 40% given to talking about LVP, it didn’t leave much. Maybe because there isn’t much to leave.

In a year where her brother committed suicide, her mother died (albeit after filming), several of her dogs went to the Bridge, Giggy was diagnosed with a heart condition, she opened three restaurants, and nearly single-handedly brought attention to the dog meat trade, these women decided to make LVP a target because she may or may not have pointed out the obvious. Dorit did an effing stupid and thoughtless thing, disregarding a dog adoption contract because she wanted to circumvent the rules. Maybe she didn’t want to face LVP, maybe it was just inconvenient, but in giving the dog to what she thought was a new, loving home, it ended up in a shelter. Dorit was wrong. Period. Camille was the only one to point this out, but since she was Enemy Number Two, no one listened.

I don’t believe LVP leaked the story, but that’s not to say it didn’t come from her staff at Vanderpump Dogs, or that she didn’t turn a blind eye. The really stupid thing is, anyone who cares would have ended up knowing anyway, because, the show. So in the long run, the whole thing was immaterial. Dorit wailed over the backlash, to which I say, don’t do something stupid in the first place, and after that, nothing LVP could have done would have been enough to convince them she wasn’t lying. Even a lie detector test was found fault with. Yes, I’m completely aware they’re inadmissible in court, but passing one while still being guilty is pretty difficult. Ain’t nobody got time for that, least of all LVP. When Kyle flat-out said she didn’t believe LVP, the friendship was done, and LVP was done with the show.

The whole thing was depressing, and I don’t think any of them came out looking good. Regardless of how much of a hand LVP did or did not have to do with the Radar story, she didn’t deserve the persistent sniping and continual jabs throughout the season, especially after the year she had. Even Brandi was dragged in for her nasty two cents. It was a huge disappointment to me that she’s good friends with Denise Richards, who I’ve liked up until now. I still like her, but I think she came in knowing nothing, and probably still doesn’t. I, too, believe even a hooker deserves Thanksgiving dinner, but I’m not going out for drinks with her, and listen to her opinions about LVP. (That was a joke. I’m sure the hooker was much more of a lady than Brandi.) I think Denise likes to take in strays, and I’m not just referring to dogs and cats. The worst part was how no one could understand why LVP no longer wanted to be friends with Kyle, when Kyle said she believed LVP was lying. They didn’t seem to get that, from that time forward, LVP would be wondering if Kyle believed anything she said. So what would be the point of a friendship? LisaR also got the nasty consolation prize, for giving Kim the finger and calling her a c-word while dressed as Erika Jayne, and using that as an excuse. And I don’t even particularly like Kim.

I also found it creepy how the group passed LVP’s symbolic crown to Kyle, making her queen of the group. She pretended to be all humble, but I’m pretty sure, deep down, she was pleased. While I’m curious who will have the bullseye on their back next season, I’ll have to read about it in someone else’s recap. If I even do that.

🎼 No. Just No…

LuAnn as Mama Morton? Here’s the scoop on the Countess being in Chicago on Broadway. As I thought, not quite. And I’ll bet she needs more rehearsals and coaching. She’d possibly need someone singing in her ear.
