What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Laura asks Doc if Finn gave any details, but Doc says Finn just told him it was important they meet. If it’s about his involvement in Ryan’s kidney donation, he wants her to promise to leave right away. She says that’s sweet of him, but no. He says the only reason he told her what they did, was because keeping secrets about his brother nearly blew them up. He couldn’t bear the look on her face if she got blindsided. She’s glad he told the truth, and says if the press says she was involved in the conspiracy to steal a kidney from his serial killer twin brother to save the commissioner’s life, and it brings her political career down, what a way to go. He says the power is going to her head. He likes it.

Michael brings Carly some food from Kelly’s. Sonny says it’s no excuse for Carly to break her healthy eating habits. She says she loves Sonny’s cooking, but needs some variety. She’s hoping for a cheeseburger, but Michael tells her that he got her an avocado and turkey sandwich on sprouted wheat.

Chase tells Willow that he’s sorry he has to work. She says she’d be terrible company anyway, but he says her company is always wonderful. She says he’s a wonderful liar. He says he’s acing this boyfriend thing. She tells him to go fight crime. She’ll be home driving herself crazy about the court date with Shiloh.

Lulu leaves a message for Steve to go back to her house when he gets it. Her date never showed, and might be the suspect. He could be robbing her house right now.

Josslyn turns on the light, and says, oh my God. What the hell do you think you’re doing? She sees a young man holding a bag of stuff – as I thought, it’s Dan, who helped Sonny when he was looking for Dante. Dan says he was  just looking for… Josslyn snaps his picture, and says he was trying to rob the house.

Doc tells Laura that he doesn’t want her to get hurt by his actions. She says he told the truth, and did the right thing. He says he could be making her accessory to a boatload of felonies, but she’s glad for the chance to stand by his. Finn thanks Doc for meeting him. Doc asks if something has happened to Ryan.

Josslyn says he picked the wrong house, and Dan says she doesn’t understand. She says he’d better pray the cops get there before her stepfather does. Dan runs past her and out the door. She yells for him to stop, like that might happen, and calls the police to report a break-in.

Carly asks what’s wrong with Michael? and he tells her, just take a bite. She does, but it’s obviously not the cheeseburger she wanted. He asks if she still loves him, and she says she does, but doesn’t like him much right now. She wonders why she’s smelling bacon, and Michael says he brought BLTs for everyone else. She tells Sonny, disown him. Sonny says he would, but Michael has his own money. Michael thought it might tempt Josslyn, who doesn’t have much of an appetite. He asks where she is, and Sonny says she went to Lulu’s to pick up Rocco’s baseball glove. Carly says he likes to put it under his pillow, so Josslyn went to pick it up. Michael says, by herself? but Carly thinks it’s good Josslyn is regaining her independence. Jason comes in, and Michael asks if he wants a BLT. Carly can’t believe Michael brought one for Jason when he didn’t even know Jason was coming. Michael says, the odds were good, Jason says he has news from the former DA that might be helpful in dealing with Shiloh.

Chase tells Willow that she’s welcome to stay at his place. She doesn’t think Shiloh will try anything since the hearing is tomorrow. He says, regardless, and gives her a key. He says, it’s not a romantic gesture. He’s not that kind of guy; he’s far too cool, even aloof. She says, bordering on indifferent. She accepts his practical, non-romantic gesture. She’s going to check in with Diane, and he tells her when Diane comes into the PD, everyone gets depressed. Her clients always walk, and she represents some bad people. If she goes to bat for a good person, imagine what she can accomplish. Willow doesn’t know how good she is, but Chase says he does, and he knows Diane will do everything she can to keep Shiloh away from Wiley. Willow asks, what if it’s not enough?

Finn tells Doc, there’s no sign infection, and no complications with the transplant. Ryan is upset that he’s healing so fast, since he’s going to be transferred to a cell in solitary by the end of the week. Doc says what about the removal of his kidney without his consent? He tells Finn, Laura knows everything. Finn says, everything everything? and Doc says, yes. Finn says no one is paying attention to Ryan’s claims. Doc says they figure Ryan agreed in exchange for leniency, and when that failed, he claimed it was stolen like an urban legend. Finn says he would have loved to leave Ryan in a bathtub of ice in a crummy hotel. He adds that he shouldn’t be talking so cavalier. What he wanted to talk about concerns Doc’s extension.

Jason suggests he and Sonny talk in the living room. Michael says if it concerns that bastard Shiloh, he wants in. Carly wants to know what’s going on. Unless there’s a felony involved. Jason says, no felony… not yet. Margaux is leaving town. She knows she blew it, and she’s trying to make amends. She gave him a lead about a suspicious death in the DOD chapter at Beecher’s Corners.

Chase says, if the worst happens, and Diane loses somehow, they’ll figure out a way to keep Wiley away from Shiloh. Willow says, the judge decides, but he says, Wiley’s aunts are Sam and Carly. Carly is married to Sonny, who’s a legit coffee importer, whose enforcer – no legit coffee importer is complete without one – is Jason. Jason is with Sam, and who does Sam hate more than anyone? Shiloh co-opted Sam’s sister, Kristina, who’s the daughter of Alexis and who? She says, Sonny. He says if Shiloh is half as smart as he thinks he is, he should cut his losses, and get out of Dodge. All these people, himself included, are Wiley’s army, and they’re not going to lose. She says, when he puts it that way… She kisses him, and says Diane is waiting. They hug, and she tells him, be safe. He says, always, so now I’m worried about him.

Josslyn gives a police officer Dan’s description. Lulu comes in, and asks, what’s going on? Josslyn says she called the police. The door was open, and she found a guy in there trying to rob the place. Lulu asks if she’s okay, and Josslyn says he didn’t even touch her. In fact, he seemed more scared than she was. The cop says Josslyn did the right thing. He couldn’t have gotten far.

Finn brings Laura and Doc into his office, and says Dr. Quartermaine should be doing this, but she’s dealing with some family matters. She knows they developed a professional rapport when dealing with Ryan’s kidney transplant – Doc says, that’s one way to put it – so she asked him to talk to Doc. He says when the board met, it got heated. They think Doc is still partly responsible for his brother’s reign of terror. Laura says if she was still on the board, she would argue that Doc made a mistake, and has done everything in his power to make up for it. The court dropped the charges. Finn says one of the board members made that point. She says, they should only care about his record. He’s an exemplary psychiatrist, and an asset to the hospital. Finn says those points were brought up. The vote was close, but in the end, the Board agreed. Here’s the paperwork, and here’s the key to Doc’s office. Congratulations. He’s been fully reinstated.

Dan is brought into the station. Chase says he looks young, but the cop says he matches the description of the perp who broke into Lulu’s house.

Lulu tells Josslyn that she was brave tonight. She doesn’t think anything was taken, but nothing matters more than Josslyn’s safety. What the hell was she thinking, walking in the house when an intruder was there? Josslyn says the officer said she did the right thing. Lulu says, the officer was being nice. She’s family, and doesn’t have to be nice. Josslyn asks Lulu not to channel her mother, and Lulu says she’s channeling all mothers, If you come to a home where the door is unlocked when it shouldn’t be, don’t go in. Call the police, watch, wait, and run like hell if they come out. Brave and stupid go hand in hand, and she could have been killed. Josslyn gets it. Lulu says she shouldn’t be yelling, especially with what Josslyn is going through with Oscar. Josslyn kind of likes her not walking on eggshells. It would be refreshing if Lulu wasn’t so mad. Lulu hates that she put Josslyn in this position. Josslyn asks how Lulu would know someone was going to rob the house? Lulu tells Josslyn that she should let her mother know she’s okay, but Josslyn says, no way. Why stress her out? Lulu’s phone rings, and Josslyn says, it can’t be her. She’s not psychic.

It’s Chase. He thinks they found the guy.

Doc thanks Finn for the good news, and Finn says it’s his privilege. He knows what it means to screw up and start over, trying to recover the respect of your colleagues and the trust of your patients. It’s not easy, but it can be done. Doc thanks him for the encouragement. Finn says if Doc wants to talk, he’s no therapist, but he can listen as a colleague or friend. They shake hands, and Doc says he might take Finn up on it.

Sonny asks if Jason is talking about the drug overdose. Carly says, this is new information to half the room. Jason says it happened to a Beecher’s Corners member who was trying to leave. Shiloh was a suspect at first. Michael asks if the DA had any evidence, and Jason says, no; just circumstantial. The man’s name was left out of the papers. They said it was out of respect for the family, but he thinks it had more to do with DOD and their influence over the local media and police. His name was Douglas Miller. Sonny says it’s a common name, but is there any connection to Diane? Jason says, not that they know of, but there is to Lorraine Miller, aka Harmony.

Willow meets Diane at Kelly’s. She knows Diane has more important clients. Diane says she has more affluent clients, but none are more important than Willow. Willow says the hearing has her… she doesn’t know how to describe it. Diane says she doesn’t need to. She knows Shiloh put Willow through hell, and she had to take extreme measures to get away and protect her child. Hopefully, the judge will see it the same way. Willow thought it was a slam dunk. Diane doesn’t want her to get alarmed, but they need to prepare. She looked at the docket, and who the defense attorney is. Either Shiloh just hired them – which she doubts – or they advised him not to inform the court of their name, so it’s a sneak attack. Shiloh’s attorney has a reputation of being ruthless. Willow asks if there’s a chance Shiloh will find out about Wiley.

Lulu and Josslyn go to the station. Chase asks if Josslyn is okay, and she says, fine, just shaken up. She sees Dan and says, that’s the one who robbed Lulu’s house. Dan says it’s a mistake. Lulu says he used a dating app to lure her out, and he’s like, what? She says he knew no one would be home. Chase tells him to remember the rights he was read. Chase thinks he should exercise his right to remain silent. Dan says he’s not the thief. He’s a friend of Sonny Corinthos.

Carly asks if Harmony isn’t the groupie who took the fall for Shiloh. Jason says she’s practically his second in command. Michael flashes back to Willow telling him that her mother knows. It doesn’t matter. She’s basically Shiloh’s right hand. Sonny asks if there’s any chance it’s a coincidence that it’s the same last name. Jason says public records show that Harmony was married to him. Carly asks if he thinks Shiloh killed him, and made it look like and OD, and Jason says he’s heading back to do some digging. Michael thinks he should hold off. Sonny asks if he knows something, and Michael says he might, but needs to confirm his suspicions first. They need to trust him. Sonny says he knows they do, and Michael leaves.

Diane tells Willow, there’s a slim chance things won’t go their way. It’s still slim, but it’s just a little slimmer. Willow was hoping Diane would reassure her that everything will work out. Now, she’s even more terrified. Diane says, stop it. Terrified will get her nowhere. It will just chum the waters, and they’ll go after her with greater gusto. Willow says she’ll pull it together, and Diane says, that’s the spirit. They knew going in that it would be complicated, but Willow’s motives are exemplary, protecting her child from a sexual predator. But the law is the law. Even horrible people have rights, including parental rights. It’s their job to thwart and stonewall them using legal means. It’s Willow’s part to look more upstanding than she already does. She’s a third grade teacher, and Shiloh has an inner circle of women he tattoos and coerces into sex. Willow asks what about DOD’s good works, and Diane says, it’s a front. Leave everything to her, go home, and get a good night’s sleep. She’ll need it. Willow gets a text from Michael – Can we talk? It’s important.

Chase says, assuming there’s a connection, robbing Sonny’s house doesn’t make Dan immune. Dan says he’s innocent. He wasn’t stealing. Someone was trying to rob the house, and he scared them off. Chase asks, why do that? and Dan says Sonny is his friend. Chase says that won’t get him off the hook in this town. He tells an officer to take Dan to the interrogation room, and Dan panics. He says he knows what happens there. They’ll torture him. Chase says, we don’t do that here. Dan asks why he should trust Chase, and Chase says he can’t hurt Dan; he’s a friend of Sonny’s. Chase asks Lulu for a word. Josslyn looks through the window at Dan. Chase says she lured him out on a dating app? Elaborate. Lulu says she put up a fake profile to lure him to her home while she was gone. He asks if it’s because she’s an undercover cop, and she says, no, an Investigative reporter. He says, fair enough, He bets she didn’t think she’d smoke out a teenage friend of her father-in-law. Josslyn continues to look at Dan, and I’m thinking, love interest.

Finn says he needs to see his patients. When he’s gone, Laura says, when you know him, he’s a nice guy. She tells Doc he’s kind of staring, and he says, it’s her fault, being amazing. She laughs, and says, in general or specifically? He says, both. He can imagine her in the Board meeting, defending him. She says it didn’t happen, but he’s been reinstated. He just has to finish the paperwork. He thinks he should hold off on the red tape. Maybe the Board didn’t hear it, but he did, and it means everything to him that somehow she still loves him. She says she’ll always love him, but she also believes in him. They kiss.

Laura says Doc is right about the red tape. She thinks they should forget it for tonight, and celebrate; open some champagne. Doc says, and order pizza. She says, with champagne? and he asks if she’s every had it. She guesses she will tonight.

Michael thanks Willow for meeting him. She says she’s happy to be distracted. Diane said that Shiloh’s attorney is a shark (Nora?), but Michael says Diane is the best shark he knows. She’s in good hands. She says she knows, and Wiley has all these powerful people who are willing to do what it takes to protect him, but it’s like a nightmare she can’t wake up from. She’d give anything not think about Shiloh or DOD ever again. He says the reason he asked to meet is that he has a question about Shiloh; specifically, a death that happened in Beecher’s Corners.

Carly tells Sonny, clearly, Michael went to meet someone, but where, who, what? Sonny thinks it’s probably Willow. She escaped DOD in Beecher’s Corners. Sonny’s phone rings. It’s Josslyn, who asks if Carly is with him. He says, yeah, why? She tells him, don’t react. She doesn’t want Carly to freak out. She’s absolutely fine. Sonny says, good to know. She says she’s at the police station. They have a kid there who has some kind accent, middle eastern. He says he knows Sonny.

Doc tells Laura this couldn’t have come at a better time. He was about to sign on the dotted line, and now he doesn’t have to break lease on his new office. She asks if he was dragging his feet, and he says he was busy helping the commissioner, and also wishful thinking. She asks if he was hoping the Board would change their mind, and he says, a little. She says, they did, and she wasn’t even there to beat them into submission. He’s sure she would have been eloquent, but firm. She says now they can put this behind them, and go back to normal life. They laugh, and Laura’s assistant calls.

Laura tells Doc there’s a snag in the budget. If she doesn’t deal with it tonight, it might delay passing it. He says she’s acting like she’s the mayor or something. She thanks him for understanding, and he tells her, go; run the city with an iron fist. She asks if there’s any other way. He says, meanwhile, he’ll settle in and get the red tape done. Then he needs her at home to celebrate. She says, sounds like a plan.

Michael tells Willow that Jason heard about a suspicious death that was brushed aside by the authorities; Douglas Miller, Harmony’s ex-husband. Willow had said Harmony is Shiloh’s right hand. If Harmony is her mother, that means Douglas is her father? Willow says, yes, but she can’t talk about it. She’s sorry, but it’s too painful. He says, for Wiley’s sake, tell him. She says she can’t because she killed him.

Carly says, it’s ridiculous, and Jason tells her that she says that when anyone disagrees with her. She says because it’s Josslyn at the police station, she gets first dibs. He tells her, calm down for the baby. Josslyn didn’t get arrested, Lulu is there, and Sonny is on his way. She doesn’t need to stress. She says it’s not stressful. They always make you wait at the station, so if anything, it’s relaxing. It’s stressful being ther,e wondering what’s going on there. He asks if she can’t be proud about how Josslyn is handling things. She says she couldn’t be prouder, and he says she doesn’t need to swoop in. She says when Jax finds out that she let Sonny handle it, he’ll explode. Jason says that’s not how Jax handles things, and she says, he won’t like it. Jason says, but he’ll understand. She’s thinking of calling him though, and Jason says, Jax and Sonny at the PCPD with Josslyn in the middle; what could possibly go wrong? She hates it when he’s right. She tells him don’t think he’s off the hook. It’s officially his job to keep her distracted. He eats a French fry, and Carly looks at it longingly. He says they can’t play pool, but how about poker? She says he beats her every time. She needs him to tell her why he thinks it’s a good idea to go to Beecher’s Corners. He says, it’s the best way to get intel. She says he has a rap sheet there. He says the charges were dropped, but she says he’ll be on their radar. He says they won’t see him.

Sonny arrives at the station. Josslyn hugs him, saying she’s fine. She asks if he came by himself, and he says Carly is at home with Jason. Josslyn says she found a in Lulu’s house, and Carly would freak, but she wasn’t in any danger. Sonny asks why she’s so sure, and she tells him, come here. They look at Dan through the window, and she says he claims to know Sonny. Sonny flashes back to meeting Dan when he was looking for Dante. He tells Chase there’s been a mistake. Chase asks if he’s saying Dan is a friend of his. Sonny says give him some time to clear this up. Chase says, be his guest. Sonny goes into the interrogation room, and Dan says Sonny came.

Tomorrow, Willow says she had to choose DOD or her father, Neil says he has feelings for a patient, Sonny asks Dan why he’s there, and Jason says he needs to get his hands on some evidence.

Southern Charm

Patricia says since Whitney has been home, everything is plant based and gluten free. She can’t do it. Michael takes her to McDonald’s. In her interview, she says her top three guilty pleasures are McDonald’s hamburgers, Costco hotdogs, and tacos from Taco Bell. She prefers them to le blah-blah-blah from Paris. Michael pours her some wine to have with her burger in the backseat, and she asks him not to tell Whitney. He says that’s the first person he’s going to tell. I wish I had a Michael.

Cameran visits Shep, bearing tacos. She remarks on how clean the house is, and he says he’s supposed to get pictures taken for the listing. He wonders if he shouldn’t have another place in mind before he puts it on the market. Cameran says he could sell it furnished, but he says his couch has been good to him. She asks if he’s still interested in buying another property. He shows her something he’s been checking out on his laptop, and says he might buy a lot and build. Cameran thinks that’s stupid. He say sometimes she’s badass, but sometimes she’s scared. Mark Twain said to buy land; they’re not making more of it. In her interview, Cameran says there’s a lot to go through with building something, and it’s a money pit. But what does she know? She’s just a real estate agent.

Shep tells Cameran that Kathryn and Danni aren’t talking. Kathryn got angry about Danni being overly concerned. Cameran says that’s why she’s always kept Kathryn at arm’s length. If you get too close, she throws you under the bus. Shep says he had a front row seat for that. She says Danni and Naomie are Kathryn’s biggest allies, and Shep says Kathryn is mixed up.

Kathryn brings out the good china and silverware. In her interview, she says when she was growing up, her grandmother only used the fine china and embroidered napkins. We see a clip of dinner at grandma’s house. She says when her grandmother passed away, she left her the china, probably hoping Kathryn would continue the tradition. Home cooked meals, and sitting at the dinner table, eating together. She never learned that stuff, but she did watch. A delivery guy comes, and she transfers the food to her own plates, hiding the evidence.

New boyfriend Joe arrives, bringing flowers. Kathryn tries cutting the stems – which I personally know is a pita – and Joe steps in. She says she’s not used to someone helping. In Kathryn’s interview, she says when they first met, she wasn’t attracted to Joe, but as they got to know one another, she discovered they were on the same wave length. He helps bring the food out to the patio, and pulls out her chair. She says she’s not like most chicks from Charleston, and he says she’s his first. She loves that he hasn’t spent much time in the south.

Craig, Shep, and Austen go shopping for camping stuff. Craig says it’s not really camping, since they’re going in an RV. They want to cook and have fires. In his interview, Austen says it’s been a rough couple of weeks, since he and Madison broke up. He lost who he thought was his best friend. Get him out of there. Take him to the woods, and burn some sh*t. On the phone, he makes arrangements to pick up his beer. He only has three cases, because it’s wildly expensive to make. Craig says they need chairs, and Austen looks at sleeping bags. Shep says he talked to Kathryn, and apologized for what he said. We flash back to her leaving Craig’s pillow party. Austen says imagine how Kathryn would react if she heard everything he had said. Craig says Austen shouldn’t have to worry about a new girlfriend sending his texts to his old girlfriend.

Chelsea goes to Madison’s salon. She wants something for her crunchy hair. Chelsea says she needs to do something different to make money. Madison tells Chelsea that she’s renting out a chair, but she’s working six days a week. She’s anxious when she’s not there. Chelsea says she’s thinking about working with a partner, so she can leave the shop in the hands of one person she trusts. She suggests they look into something, but Madison isn’t sure. She’s put everything she has into this. If it goes down, everything goes down. Chelsea says, it’s scary. Madison say she’s been there for two years. Maybe they can do some brainstorming. It’s a relationship that’s more serious than marriage.

Chelsea asks how Madison thinks Austen will feel about it, and Madison says they’ll be open before Austen’s beer is on the shelf. She says it’s a shame, since he has potential. She wishes it hadn’t gone the way it did. Chelsea thinks Austen is easily manipulated by Shep. Madison says Shep called her a white trash hair stylist. Chelsea says, Shep gets away with sh*t like that. In her interview, Chelsea says Shep thinks he’s on another level. He judges people who weren’t brought up the way he was. It’s ridiculous and childish. Madison wonders why Austen doesn’t just shut it down, and Chelsea says, it’s something with Shep. Madison says, Austen is p*ssy whipped.

The guys pack for their trip. Driver Nate pulls up at Craig’s house. Michael drops off Whitney, who says, fine day for a Winnebago ride. Craig shows Whitney his fishing pole, and says, dinner. Whitney says, like that’s going to happen. Shep arrives in a knee brace. He says he tore something riding a mechanical bull. Austen comes with the beer. The stairs retract, and they’re off.

Eight hours to campsite. In Whitney’s interview, he says he was classically trained, but in several punk and heavy metal bands. We see pictures, and he says he was the Bieber of his day. Shep says he’s talked to Danni since the Kathryn incident. She doesn’t understand it either; she’s been good to Kathryn. Austen says Kathryn has every right to not talk if she doesn’t want to. Shep says it’s like a slap in the face to a friend. Craig says they do it all the time, but Shep says, that’s different. They’re guys. In his interview, he says, girls are more sensitive, and can really hurt each other. With guys, they’re just busting balls.

Eliza goes to the stables. Danni and Naomie are coming to ride. In her interview, she says, cheating death gives you a different viewpoint of life. When she dies, she wants to leave peace and zero negativity.

In the car, Naomie says Eliza has been reaching out after Patricia’s dinner. At first, she was turned off, but Eliza explained how she didn’t understand, so Naomie is giving her another chance.

The girls get on their horses, and Eliza tells them, be careful of the armadillo holes. Not something you hear every day. They ride, and Eliza says she wants to do more chill things. She was supposed to go to the Bahamas, but she was late for the flight, and the plane crashed. She wants to move past the drama. She was under a microscope after her father’s affair, and feels judged. Danni is sorry she feels that way, and Naomie says she’s sorry that Eliza was uncomfortable. She thinks Eliza overcompensates, and it came off as wrong. Eliza says she felt damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t, with Kathryn, and it’s unfair that Kathryn is mad at her. Danni says she thinks Kathryn has a general trust problem. She’s having a problem with Kathryn right now. She got mad at Danni, and made a hurtful comment. Danni says she sent a text to Kathryn saying she spit on the friendship. She could have brushed it off, but she wants an apology. Naomie says it makes her question if Kathryn has really changed. Eliza remembers Kathryn before she met Thomas; she was sweet and innocent. In being with a guy like Thomas or her father, you’re overshadowed. In Eliza’s interview, she says her dad and Thomas are a type. When they’re in the room, they’re the center of attention. We see a clip of Thomas basking in it while at a pool party. Eliza says, you can’t get more public. She sees it from a different perspective. She sees what her dad’s life did to them, and what Thomas’s life did to Kathryn. It gets to you, and will ruin your life if you let it.

Austen breaks out his beer, and everyone likes it. Five hours to campsite. Craig breaks a shade trying to open the window. Whitney gets stuck in the bathroom. Craig says infidelity seemed to be the core concept in Austen and Madison’s relationship. Austen says they haven’t spoken. No backsliding… as of yet. Shep tells him to get laid, but Austen says he doesn’t want to. Whitney says he wants to see the screenshots. Austen says he’ll see nothing until he admits he and Kathryn hooked up this summer. Cameran calls, and Shep says it’s the Spanish inquisition there. Austen tells them to be nice, and Shep asks if he’s crazy.

Cameron puts baby clothes in a tub. Jason calls, and she tells him that she has four bins of clothes Palmer has outgrown. It’s making her sad. In Cameran’s interview, she says Palmer is a year old now. The baby phase is tough, but she’d give anything to relive it. She said she wouldn’t be the type of mother to hoard baby clothes, but sometimes at night, she goes in and smells them. She wonders if there any questions Jason has for the potential nanny, and reminds him the nanny is for Palmer, not Elvis.

The doorbell rings. In her interview, Cameran says she loves working, and doesn’t want the ability to work taken away. Nanny candidate Barbara comes in. Cameran says, Palmer isn’t there because she’s in school. I think of how stupid that sounds for a one year old. Talk about pressure. Cameran asks a million questions, from if Barbara knows CPR to if she believes in astrology. Cameran says she’s a little nuts with who Palmer can get in the car with. Her own mother isn’t allowed to drive Palmer anywhere. Barbara says she’s that little old lady driver. She says they could get Palmer a helmet. They laugh, but Cameran says she’s not opposed to it. Barbara says she tries to be the mother when the mother isn’t there.

The guys get to the campsite. Craig says it’s badass, and Whitney wonders how a campsite can be badass. Nate parks, and they have a hard time getting the door open. Nate ends up having to open it for them. They’re happy to be next to the river. Austen and Craig high five. Craig says they have their own firepit and their own river. Whitney says he loves getting back to nature, and I’m not sure if he’s being sarcastic. They bring out purchased firewood, and Craig says it will only last about an hour. He burns himself with a lighter trying to get it going, and asks Shep for help. They drag out the cooler. Craig gets the fire going, and says they need to look for kindling. Shep says they need a million things, and Craig didn’t get supplies.

Austen outs on a headlamp. Whitney says, good friends and a good fire. It could be worse. Shep and Whitney discuss bands, and clink Solo cups. Craig messes up the position of the grill. Shep says, imagine relying on him for anything in life. Whitney says Austen’s coalminer hat looks stupid. Craig tells him to quit ragging on everything. Nate leaves, getting out while the getting is good.

Whitney gripes that they’re missing beans and corn. Shep tells him that he’s eating meat, but Whitney says, it’s not pasture raised. He takes two ears of the corn, and says that will be his dinner. I think Whitney went vegan, or whatever he is, just so he’d have something else to complain about. Shep starts putting burgers on the grill, and Craig tells him not to cook them on an open flame. In Shep’s interview, he says he’s discovered Craig overestimates his culinary skills, especially over an open flame. We flash back to the grill debacle at Craig’s housewarming. Craig says, just let him make the burgers. Whitney says he doesn’t want high blood pressure and cancer. Craig tells him STFU.

Whitney says, it’s all good. Craig says he’s embarrassed to be with them. He calls them ignorant a-holes, who push and push, and then say they’re sorry. Shep says they’re not ignorant; they’re just a-holes. He tells Whitney that Craig is like his little brother. He was a d*ck to his little brother; he couldn’t help it. He was an easy target. Whitney says Craig takes things personally. Craig is annoyed that Whitney took two ears of corn, since there was four of everything. Whitney says it’s his dinner, and Craig says, take two so someone can’t have one. Austen says, stop. In Austen’s interview, he says he knew they’d bust balls, but didn’t know it was going to be a Craig roast. Shep tells Craig not to play the victim. Craig says he’s not talking them. He has a limit. Whitney says, is there a limit? and Craig whacks him with the spatula. Whitney throws something at Craig, saying Craig got hotdog juice on his glasses. What’s wrong with him? Shep says they’re just busting chops. It’s what they do by the fire. They comment on one another. Craig says they were raised so differently. He says he’s going to bed, and goes inside the RV. Which is pretty impressive BTW.

Austen tells Shep and Whitney, be nice to Craig. Shep says Craig is whining, and Austen says they’re like the two Muppets in the balcony. In Austen’s interview, he says this trip was supposed to help him get over Madison, and clearly it isn’t. It’s more of them exhibiting a-hole behavior. Who needs friends like these? He gets in his tent.

Next time, the girls google Kathryn’s boyfriend, Danni tells Kathryn that she was hurt, and Shep asks Austen how he hooks people. And this quote:

Naomie (while she and her boyfriend are eating): It’s missing something.

Metul: It’s missing an Indian person who’s good at cooking.

🙇 A Fond Farewell

Normally, I’d add some tea, but I’m running late, having gotten word that an online friend of many years passed away. I spent a good amount of time tonight reminiscing with one of our partners in crime. I thought it might be more appropriate to just include a tribute to another recent passing. Anderson Cooper‘s mom, otherwise known as Gloria Vanderbilt.

🚶 Until Next Time…
