What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Carly is resting, and Sonny asks, what’s up with Josslyn? She doesn’t look good, and said Nelle stole something from her. Carly says she’ll talk to Josslyn, and gets up. Sonny says, this is probably it. Nelle came back to get it. Carly sees what I’m guessing is a bloody kidney in his hands. She screams. And wakes up. She wonders why this is happening.

Chase tells Willow, she, Michael, and Wiley make a wonderful family. He’s glad she’s happy. She thanks him, and he says it’s all he ever wanted for her. He hopes Michael does better by her than he did. He starts to walk away, and she asks him to wait. She wants to tell him something about her and Michael, but he says whatever it is, it’s better if she doesn’t.

Jax asks if he can talk to Michael, and Michael says, if it’s something about Aurora, he doesn’t have much to contribute yet. Jax says they can talk about whatever he wants, but keep him distracted. He looks over at Nina talking to Valentin. Nina tells Valentin, it wasn’t easy to shut him out and start over, but he left her no choice. He says if she means that, she wouldn’t care who he sleeps with, but she obviously does. Maybe she’s not as over him as she thinks. She says if by over him he means indifferent, she never claimed to be, but she’s determined to move on. He says, then let him do the same. Or did she expect him to wait around indefinitely?

Carly finds Jason in the kitchen, and asks him to pour her a cup of coffee. She could use the caffeine. He asks, what happened? and she says she hasn’t been sleeping well, so she took a nap. Big mistake. She dreamed about Nelle – again. She can’t keep going like this.

Nikolas walks in, and Ava says, good; he’s home. She has something important to discuss. He closes the door, and says he does too. Something he should have told her a long time ago. She says she’s sure it can wait a little longer, but he tells her, for once in her life, lower her guard enough to listen. She asks what makes him think she’s interested in anything that comes out of his mouth. He thought she liked his mouth, and she says she’d like to slap it. So unless he’s about to confess… He says that’s exactly what he’s doing. He hasn’t been honest with her. About him, and about them.

Ava says, speak, and he says he’s been thinking for a while about how things are going. Not just with them; there’s the whole family to consider. She tells him, spit it out, and he says she’s not making it easy. She says clearly he hasn’t thought out what he needs to say, and he suggests she let him say it, instead of being smug, cynical, and ready with a cutting remark. She says he knew how she was when he married her, and he says, a conniving, treacherous opportunist. She says she can never live down her bad choices. She’s selfish and ruthless; never mind his history. He says he knows who he is, but he’s just starting to get to know the real Ava, the woman behind the façade. He’s realized that in their marriage of convenience, he has inconvenient feelings.

Nina says she doesn’t want Valentin to wait for her. There’s no chance for them. He says he doesn’t believe that. Jax is a rebound, and she’s his plus one; his companion, a trophy. She says Valentin knows nothing, and he says he knows she and Jax like each other. He knows they have certain things in common, and knows it’s a safe relationship, because both of their hearts are otherwise engaged. Jax loves Carly, and she loves… She says, no. She’s not threatened by Jax’s connection to Carly.

Jax tells Michael that Valentin wants Nina back. He can’t say he blames him; she’s an incredible woman. Michael says she seems happy with Jax, and Jax says he’s happy with her. But when you’ve been married to someone, you develop an understanding of each other that doesn’t go away just because the marriage ends. Michael hopes he’s right.

Chase tells Willow, he set all of this in motion. He did what he did, and she ended up with Wiley and Michael, and he’s truly happy for her, but he’s no longer a part of her life. Not the way he used to be. So whatever she was going to say… She flashes back to Michael saying there’s nothing selfish about being in love; it’s what he wants for her, but he considers their marriage a success. She tells him, she does too. She tells Chase, it’s not what he thinks, but he says, it doesn’t matter. Whatever she was going to say, it’s best she holds onto it. Michael walks up to them.

Jason asks if Carly wants to talk about it, and she says she keeps having nightmares. The details are different, but they’re horrible and all about Nelle. Even though she’s dead, she’s not. He says Carly just had to sit through a police interrogation about Nelle; it makes sense that she’d be dreaming about her. She says the interrogation was frustrating because the detective accused her of pushing Nelle. Jason says, but she didn’t, so there’s no case. She  tells him, that’s what Diane said, and he says he can see why she’s still worried. She says she is, but not because of the cops. It’s because Nina is giving Nelle a proper burial this afternoon at Woodlawn Cemetery. She says she’s doing it for Wiley, so he can visit his mother’s grave, but that’s BS. She’s doing it for herself.

Carly says, Nina had a breakdown a few years back. She kidnapped Avery, and wound up in Shadybrook, but she was able to get the help she needed, and turned her life around. But Nelle didn’t, and Nina can’t let it go. He asks if she thinks Nina feels guilty because she got saved and Nelle didn’t, but Carly doesn’t know. She doesn’t care about Nina’s motives. She cares that Nelle is going to be buried in the same cemetery as Morgan and Mike. She cares that Nelle is going to have a headstone in Port Charles, where she caused so much misery. If Nina wants to do something, pay to have her buried in Florida. I get distracted momentarily by the bowl of moss, and Jason says, who cares about Nina? Why does Nelle bother Carly so much? She says it doesn’t make any sense, but he says, tell him anyway. She says she knows Nelle’s dead, but it seems like Nelle isn’t done with her.

Nina tells Valentin that she admires the way Jax and Carly co-parent, and she’d like to think they could do that with Charlotte. Show her the best of them without the fallout from the relationship they both messed up. He admits he’s responsible for the lion’s share of the damage. He wants to be there for Charlotte, and wants Nina to stay in her life. She says it would make things easier if he’d stop needling her about Jax. He agrees, but wants her to extend the same courtesy to him. She says she doesn’t needle him, and he says she did when he walked in with Brook. She says, that wasn’t needling; she’s appalled. She’s not jealous, and he should know that. Brook isn’t in the right frame of mind to decide if she wants to sleep with him. She’s recovering from a brutal attack. He says he didn’t take advantage of Brook, and she says, Brook is traumatized. Jax asks if everything is okay, and Valentin calls him Jasper, saying, they were just talking about Nelle. Jax says he despises Nelle, but Nina wants to give her a proper burial. Valentin says, she what?

Michael apologizes for barging into the conversation, but Chase says, no big deal. It’s not like when Brook walked in with Valentin. His jaw was on the floor. Michael says, Brook was with Valentin? and Chase says he’s not gossiping. They were pretty open about it. Brook spent the night with Valentin. Michael wonders what she was thinking, and says, Ned isn’t going to like this. Good thing she isn’t living at the house. It’s going to be World War III. Chase asks if he should be looking forward to Brook sleeping on his couch for the foreseeable future. Michael asks if Brook would accept money from him, but Chase says, she’d rather walk on glass. Willow says its good Brook has Chase to help her. He says she means it’s good he’s a sucker, but she says he’s not, and Brook wouldn’t take advantage if he was. She’s not a user like… Chase says, like Janelle.

Ava asks Nikolas what that means exactly, inconvenient feelings? He says it’s not supposed to happen in a relationship like theirs, and she asks him to be more vague. He says he wishes he had done it differently. He wishes he’d returned to his family as soon as he got back. He wishes he’d contacted her without the subterfuge, and that they hadn’t started out at each other’s throats. Being with her is more good than bad. She says, Ava Jerome, more good than bad; that’s a phrase fit for an epitaph. He says he’s falling for her. No, it’s already happened. He’s fallen for her.

Carly tells Jason, maybe it’s PTSD. Nelle has been after her for so long, she can’t let her guard down. He asks why she’s doubting herself. If she thinks something is off, it probably is. She has great instincts. She says, not with Nelle. When Nelle first came to town, she fell for Nelle, hook, line, and sinker. She played right into Nelle’s hands. Jason says she was grateful about Josslyn, and she says, too grateful to see what was in front of her. She didn’t recognize the girl from Frank’s apartment. She couldn’t go back and fix Nelle’s life, which is what Nelle wanted. When she caught up to Nelle in the clearing, Nelle blamed her for everything; every choice, every horrible thing that happened to her. She begged Nelle to turn herself in for Wiley’s sake, but she refused. She was fighting to hold on, and Nelle was fighting for her life. Nelle came at her, scratching and clawing. She feels like there’s something she’s supposed to remember. Like how you can’t remember a name, but it’s on the tip of your tongue. He tells her, don’t push it. It will come to her. She says, or she could confront it.

Valentin asks why Nina is paying for Nelle’s burial. She says, not that it’s any of his business, but Nelle left a son behind. He might want to visit her grave. Valentin asks why he’d want to do that. If Michael is honest with him about the pain Nelle inflicted, why would he want anything to do with her? He’s glad he didn’t know Helena was his mother while she was alive. Nina says he can’t compare Nelle to Helena, and he says, how about the pain Madeline inflicted? Nina isn’t going to romanticize her mother; why romanticize Nelle? She says, it’s none of his business. She doesn’t want to be late for the graveside service that she paid for. She flounces out, and Valentin asks if Jax isn’t going with her.

Chase tells Michael, Janelle is being buried today, and Michael says Nina called and asked if they wanted to attend. When Wiley is an adult, and he wants to visit, that’s up to him, but he has no reason to. Willow says she feels the same way. Nelle was incredibly damaged, but she caused a lot of hurt, and she hurt Willow. All Willow wants to do is leave the past behind and focus on Wiley. Chase said he felt like that at first, but now he thinks he needs to face Janelle one last time.

Ava walks up to Nikolas, and says, so he’s fallen for her. He says, without meaning to. Against his will, and against good advice from people he respects. She says, so this isn’t the first time he’s spoken of these inconvenient feelings. He says he needed a sounding board. Someone to talk to about it, while he tried to talk himself out of it. She says, yet here he is. He says, here we are. They’ve come a long way since she burned his grandmother’s portrait and threatened to shoot him. She says he has no idea how close she came to pulling the trigger, and he says, why shoot him when she could blackmail him into marriage? She says, her sentiments exactly, and drains her martini. He says, it’s different for him, so he has to believe it’s different for her too. Is she in it with him? Yes or no? It’s not just him, is it? She feels it too? She flashes back to when she found the piece of check with his signature on it, and says she feels annoyed and insulted that he expects her to fall for his declaration. He says, it’s the truth, and she says his relationship with the truth is somewhat casual. He asks why he’d leave himself open to being vulnerable if it wasn’t true, and she says, to get her to lower her guard. He says telling her his feelings doesn’t get him closer to his inheritance; it gets him closer to her. She says he’s been working on her for months, trying to wear down her resistance. He asks if that’s what happened at the cabin. She says, yes, and makes a beeline for the door. He gets in front of her, and says, tell him that she didn’t want him as much as he wanted her that night. Tell him it wasn’t real for both of them. She asks if it’s as real as it is when he’s with Elizabeth.

Jax sits down and tells Valentin, it pains him to say this, but he agrees. It would be better for Wiley if Nelle was in an unmarked grave. Valentin assumes he pitched that argument to Nina and it fell on deaf ears. It’s all wrapped up in her head with the loss of her child. Speaking of which, he’s aware what Jax is doing, encouraging her to keep up the search. If he’s doing that, he’d better be damn sure there’s a child out there to find.

Michael asks if Willow is okay, then says, forget that. It wasn’t a question as much as a demand for reassurance. He wants her to tell him she’s okay, and obviously she’s not. She says she doesn’t know what she is. She hates Nelle and always will, and it’s beyond ironic that everything good in her life comes from something Nelle did. He says Willow had every reason to use her pain as an excuse to hurt others, but she didn’t. She says, maybe because at her darkest moments, she had people to support her, and Nelle didn’t. He asks if one of them was Chase, and she says, Chase was there for her, until he wasn’t.

A pastor says a prayer at Nelle’s gravesite. Fastest. Headstone. Placement. Ever. Chase arrives, as Nina says, amen.

Jax says he’s not like Valentin. He’s not hiring someone to pose as Nina’s child. He’s going to help her as much or as little as he wants. Valentin says, and when the search hits a dead end, and Nina is devastated, what then? Jax says, what’s the alternative? Is he supposed to shield her from disappointment? He’s not in charge of her life. Valentin says, aren’t we enlightened? Someone’s done a lot of work on themselves. He wonders if Jax would be so objective if it was Carly about to break her own heart.

Michael tells Willow, there was a moment where Chase was the same Chase he’d always been. She says she felt it too. Before Michael came over, Chase said he was glad she was going to adopt Wiley. She knows he was sincere and he really wants her to be happy. It’s like there are two Chases. The one who loves her, and the one who threw her away. Michael says he can see how much Chase regrets it, and how much he still loves her and wants her back.

Sonny comes home, and apologizes for keeping Jason waiting. His got held up. His dad had Diane draw up a will after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He didn’t have a lot, just some personal stuff, and this. He hands Jason a picture and says, a race horse. One quarter share of a thoroughbred, and now it’s his. They laugh, and Jason says, Mike never told him? Sonny says, Mike might have been concerned he’d think Mike was gambling again. Maybe he forgot. Another thing Alzheimer’s took from him. Jason says, Mike loved horses, and Sonny says, he doesn’t know if the horse ever won a race, or if Mike even cared. He didn’t buy it for an investment; he bought it for part of a dream.

Michael says he was being intrusive, but Willow says she’s not offended by what he said. She doesn’t think it matters if Chase wants her back or not.

Valentin asks Jax how far he would go to protect Carly. What boundaries would he cross, or rather what boundaries wouldn’t he cross? Jax asks how many times Valentin has had this conversation with Nina. That is the angle, isn’t it? Playing up his relationship with Carly, so Nina feels more insecure? Valentin says he’s not the only one who sees Jax’s relationship with Carly for what it really is.

Nina thanks the pastor, and tells Chase that she’s glad he changed his mind. He says, if he hadn’t met Janelle, he’d probably still be a cop in coastal Maine. He’s not grateful, and she never did him any good, but in the end, he benefitted. He’s there to acknowledge that, and put her behind him once and for all. Nina says, Nelle had so many gifts, she could have accomplished a lot if just one person was looking out for her. He says, if Nina really believes she could have been the one to save Janelle, then she fooled Nina in death like she fooled him in life. Nina asks if he doesn’t think Nelle’s life would have been different if someone had intervened, but he says, Janelle had plenty of chances to turn her life around. She had plenty of people willing to help. Carly, for one, and Michael. If she’d just put down her vendetta, and tried to become the person she pretended to be, they wouldn’t be standing there right now. But Janelle was broken. She couldn’t accept kindness or support, much less love. Nina says she can’t help but think about it differently. She has a history of making horrible, disastrous choices, and turned herself around, but she had the privilege of having friends and family who cared about her. Nelle didn’t have anyone. Not one person. Maybe he’s right. Nina thought she could save her, but in the end, all she could do is give her a decent burial, and hope that she rests in peace.

Jax says he and Carly have a child together, and Valentin says, it must be difficult to watch him build a life with another woman. Jax says, not as difficult as it is for Valentin to see him building a life with Nina. Valentin says, he’d be more comfortable with Nina’s choice if he believed Jax cared about her half as much as he does. It’s obvious Jax isn’t entirely over Carly, and Valentin doesn’t think he ever will be.

Willow tells Michael, it’s hard for her to imagine getting back together with Chase, and not seeing the betrayal every time she looks at him. She can imagine getting excited over a special dinner, but it wouldn’t be real; she’d just be playing a part. Pretending he never cheated. And pretending would hurt more than accepting they’re over.

Sonny tells Jason, he’s having Diane locate the other shareholders. He wants to buy them out. If the horse still wants to race, he’ll let him, but if not, he’ll find him a pretty pasture. Jason says, Mike would like that. Sonny says he thinks Mike would, but more than that, he keeps doing it over and over, wondering what Mike would want him to do. He’s gone. Sonny loves him and grieves, but has people there who need him. He has to let his dad go, and focus on the present.

Nikolas says, Elizabeth has nothing to do with this, and Ava says she’s seen how Nikolas looks at her; how he watches her. How he grovels for her attention, her approval, and God knows what else. Elizabeth has always been his ideal, hasn’t she? It was Elizabeth who he was hoping was waiting for him when he got back. He says, Elizabeth is his oldest friend. The romance they had was over years ago. She says, look her in the eye and tell her that he hasn’t dreamed of leaving her for Elizabeth.

Nikolas says, it’s true. He thought of starting over with Elizabeth. Ava says, then spare them more of this farce, but he says, it was just a fantasy. Elizabeth is his past. She says, and she’s his future. He says, that depends. Is he hers? Does she return his feelings? Yes or no? She says she refuses to play this game. He says, she doesn’t have to; he got his answer. She says, believe what he likes, and he says he’ll say it as many times as it takes. She tells him, save his breath. Actions speak louder than words. He asks what he can do to prove himself. Name it. She says if he wants to prove his feelings, divorce her.

Jax says he’s been clear on Carly’s place in his life, and Valentin says, he’s holding nothing back? There’s nothing in his history with Carly that Nina can’t know? Jax flashes back to being on the cliff with Carly when Nelle fell, and telling her that she can tell the truth or save herself/ He tells Valentin, if he ever feels the need to settle his conscience, he won’t be talking to Valentin about it. He leaves, and Valentin wonders what he’s hiding.

Michael says he doesn’t want to make Willow uncomfortable, so no is an acceptable answer to what he’s going to say. She says, okay… and he says he doesn’t know a lot about wine. As CEO, he’s going to have a lot of business dinners, and he needs to study up. While they’re still married, would she like to study with him? He could have a broker send over a selection, maybe once a week. Cook could make dinner. They could make it themselves, but Cook would never let them in the kitchen. He doesn’t want to do something too close to what she and Chase enjoyed, but she says she’s not going to give up wine for the rest of her life because she used to drink it with Chase. She’d love to study wine with him. It sounds like fun. They clink glasses, and she says he’s making the annulment more difficult. The more she’s around him, the more she realizes what to expect from a relationship; someone she can trust, solve problems with, and study wine with. She doesn’t want what she had with Chase. She wants this. While thy’re still married, she’s going to honor that for as long as it lasts. He says he is too.

Sonny asks Jason if there’s any word on Brando. Jason says, Brando went to work for Cyrus this morning. He should be safe for a while. Cyrus won’t test him too soon. Sonny says, eventually, Cyrus is going to want Brando to prove his loyalty, and Jason says, then Brando knows what to expect. Sonny says, what if Cyrus orders Brando to kill Jason? and Jason says he thinks the motorcycle sabotaging was a one-off. He doesn’t have to try for a while. At lest not in public. Sonny asks if Jason thinks Cyrus would risk a war with what he’s got going on at the hospital, and Jason says, he got rid of the long time staffers. He cut Elizabeth’s hours, and put Epiphany on administrative duties. Sonny says, so no one would notice Cyrus is moving product through the hospital. Sonny asks what Jason thinks the end game is, and Jason says, if Cyrus controls the mayor’s office, the cops, and the hospital, he gets Sonny isolated. He takes out Sonny, and he owns Port Charles. Sonny asks if Jason thinks it’s that simple, and Jason says, no. You have to control a lot of people, and in an organization like that, you need secrecy and loyalty. Cyrus has neither. Sonny says, the more Cyrus wastes his time, the more Brando moves closer. Jason says, what if Cyrus openly breaks the truce? Sonny says, then they take him out. It could get messy, but they have too much to lose; too many people in the line of fire.

Nina kneels at Nelle’s grave, and says she doesn’t know what to say. Sorry seems inadequate, and anything more than that seems like a lie. The people Nelle hurt didn’t deserve it, but she didn’t deserve the kind of life she had. Nina wishes things could have been different for Nelle. She hears footsteps, and looks up. It’s Carly.

Tomorrow, Curtis asks Jax if it was his call to continue the search, Alexis asks if someone wants to join her, Cyrus says Julian will find his offer impossible to turn down, and Carly says she’s where she’s supposed to be.

👒 Tonight, Bravo gave us the gift that keeps on giving. Ashley from Southern Charm made an appearance to watch the season 5 finale, along with Kathryn. Well, not exactly with Kathryn. Since it was remote, we could see both of them, but they couldn’t see or hear each other. Believe me, it was better that way. Starting off, Ashley said she was terrified, and Kathryn said it was going to be funny. Kathryn said she was going to be watching all by herself… sort of, and Ashley said, what do you mean Kathryn will be watching? She seemed more amused than embarrassed, and said once you’re a villain, there’s nothing you can do to redeem self. Apparently, she forgot Kathryn, since that’s pretty much what happened with her. Ashley told us, the opening music got her heart rate up. It was a horrific time for her, and she could feel the anxiety; whereas Kathryn said it was a new beginning for her; she’d come full circle with her relationships.

We found out Kathryn never finished Patricia’s book, The Art of Southern Charm. I have to confess, I haven’t either, but I really just bought it for the pictures of Chauncy. Kathryn also informed us that Craig’s finger was permanently crooked from the butter knife incident. She said she and Craig both had houses that were a wreck, but at least she had the excuse of having children. Yep. I have pets is my excuse. Ashley said Craig was one of her favorites, but she was still waiting for her pillow. I’m guessing she’ll be waiting a long time. She said Shep had been the kindest to her, but made it clear that she loathed Naomie, saying she’d rather watch Kathryn, and hated Austen too. She made fun of the way Austen talked, which was extremely mature of her, made fun of the majority of the cast, called them bitches, and said she hated them. Kathryn’s attitude was just the opposite. She laughed at herself, and gave us various details that weren’t on camera.

The episode featured Patricia’s Christmas party, where Ashley called Kathryn an egg donor. In a completely Twilight Zone moment, Ashley said that Thomas had told her to wear a red dress, and Kathryn said she bet Thomas told Ashley to wear a red dress. ♫ Do-do-do-do do-do-do-do ♫ When Cameron said the party was like the Titanic, Ashley felt compelled to inform us that it sank. No surprise to me, Ashley said JD (bleh) was her favorite. She harped a lot on Naomie being a bitch, and how abusive she was to poor Craig. As Captain Lee would say, Craig wrote Naomie a check his ass couldn’t cash. Neither one of them communicated well, and I like Craig, but she had a reason to be unhappy.

The takeaway point was  that Ashley is definitely still bitter, and still proving she’s a nurse, as she showed us her credentials. She also talked to herself in third person, like, run Ashley! She’s still clueless too. When, during the episode, she told Kathryn that she was living the life Kathryn wanted, she confirmed her original assessment, telling us that Kathryn still did. I find that highly doubtful. At the end, she insisted she wanted nothing but the best for Kathryn, even though she talked sh*t about her. On the other hand, Kathryn laughed her way through it, and said she was glad to say goodbye to that chapter. I don’t know what the hell was in her head with that monkey emoji, but sometimes decent people can be thoughtless. I like Kathryn, also want nothing but the best for her, but won’t be talking sh*t.

This was followed by How They Got Here 2020, which basically gave a quick review of seasons past. The new season begins next Thursday, October 29th.

October 20, 2020 – Chase Starts His Own Investigation, Colby Is Full Of Surprises & Road

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Dante hears, complete the mission. He flashes back to aiming his gun at Lulu. He wakes up, and calls her name.

Lulu sits in Charlie’s, and sees Dustin through the window.

Carly tells Jax, she wishes she’d never gone after Nelle that night. She’s afraid… Outside the interrogation room, Nina flashes back to Valentin telling her, no doubt Jax has lied to and for Carly, and will again. With Jax, Carly comes first. Jax and Carly walk out, and Jax says he didn’t know Nina was coming to the station. She says there’s paperwork she has to sign, and asks if everything is okay. Jax says a detective from Pennsylvania wanted to talk about the night Nelle disappeared. Carly says she just wants to stop thinking about Nelle. The sooner Nelle is forgotten, the better.

Brook asks Valentin what they’re drinking to, and he says, nothing. He’s at a bar preparing to get drunk, and she’s in his proximity. That doesn’t mean they’re drinking together. She apologizes for judging him earlier.

On the phone, Chase says he knows why Brook’s not picking up. It wasn’t his place to tell her to work things out with her family, and he apologizes. He takes back his ultimatum. His couch is hers as long as she wants it. Call him. He sees Brando, and says, word on the street is, Brando is no longer a person of interest in the motorcycle crash. Brando says they told him, and Chase asks if they told him why.

Jordan tells Curtis, the guy from the Hanover PD was a showboat. He pushed for the investigation. Curtis says, probably because he wants another shot at a Corinthos. She says, he strongly implied Sonny was covering up, but the only criminal pressuring anyone, is Cyrus.

Willow says Michael can go first if he wants, and he says he was the one who pressured her. She says whatever decision they come to, she wanted marry him. He says, to save Wiley from Nelle. They did that, and Nelle isn’t a factor anymore. They have no reason to stay married. Willow says, unless they want to.

Sonny meets Sam at the MetroCourt. He says she told him it was important, and she says she needs his help.

Michael asks if Willow wants to stay married, and she says she thought he was going first. He says he enjoys sharing his life with her, and parenting Wiley together, all the family moments. He enjoys being around her. She’s interesting, quirky, and gives great advice. She says he’s the one who gives good advice, and he says he’s good with other people, but hopeless at figuring out his own life. She’s everything he could ever want. He’d be an idiot to give it up, except they deserve more than just companionship and good conversation. They deserve love.

Dante gets out of bed, and takes some medication, not bothering with water. We see marks on his back like he’s been whipped.

Dustin thanks Lulu for meeting him, and she asks how he is. He says, until he saw her with his own eyes, he was worried. Things felt tense when he left her with Dante. It was tough, leaving the woman he loves alone with the husband who left her, who she still loves.

Valentin says he thought Brook despised him, and she says she’s reconsidered. Her dad admitted he should have never thrown her out, but that’s his problem, not hers. Valentin asks, why the change of heart?

Chase says, the crash resulted from a defective stabilizer that Brando installed, and Brando says they covered that question before; the case is closed. Chase says, the manufacturer said they’d never had a problem with that part. Why was Jason’s bike the exception? Brando says he has no idea, and Chase asks if he has any idea why the case was closed. He wonders if someone intervened with the PCPD or city hall. Brando says he’d like to get started with his workout, and Chase says don’t let him interfere.

Sam tells Sonny, it’s about her mother, and Sonny says it seems like Alexis is off, like she’s trying to avoid him. Sam says, she’s drinking again. She’s not going behind Alexis’s back in telling him. Alexis claims she’s an adult, can choose how she lives, and chooses to drink. Sonny says he’s sorry, and she says, her too. She doesn’t want to enable Alexis. She’s been pushed to the point where she doesn’t care; she’s angry at the world. Sonny says, that’s accurate. He’s knows since he’s been there. She says, that’s why she called. In his experience, how do you find a way out? He says he had help. He hadn’t wanted it, but for the people he loves, he has to live the best life he can. Alexis will get there eventually. She’s too smart not to.

Nina asks if Jax has to talk to the detective, but he says his statement was requested. That’s why Jordan called, to see if he wanted to add anything. Nina says, does he? and he says, no, but he has to sign the document, which is why he’s waiting. Carly says she’s sorry Jax is still getting dragged in. Jax says he started the vendetta, and should get some of the fallout. Carly says she has to meet Sonny. She hopes Jax doesn’t get kept long. After Carly leaves, Jax asks Nina if the paperwork has to do with Nelle’s burial. She says it does, but she thought it best not to talk about it in front of Carly. He says, Carly will find out sooner or later. She may as well hear it from Nina.

Brook says Valentin is a strategist. He likes to move people like pieces on a chessboard. It’s not an admirable quality, but he’s not like her father. He’s not a hypocrite. He says plenty of people would say otherwise, his daughter’s mother being one of them. Brook says, Lulu is the queen of double standards. She puts people into two groups. Those she approves of, which aren’t many, and those of them who are mere mortals and can’t possibly measure up. He says he couldn’t agree more.

Michael tells Willow, she said she was in love with Chase, and probably always will be. Willow says they were still raw from the breakup. To be honest, she was in freefall, and couldn’t stop thinking about how happy she and Chase had been. He says she can have that again. Maybe not with Chase, but with someone else who will make her heart race. He can’t imagine life without her, but she’ll never have that if she’s married to him. She says, what about him? Does he think there’s someone out there for him?

Jordan tells Jax, the paperwork is ready, and he asks Nina if she wants to wait. She says, of course (🍷), and Curtis walks in. He asks Nina if she’s okay, and she says she’s fine, and thanks him for caring. He says, always, and she says she’s been debating. She thinks she needs to hire the most fabulous P.I. in the world. He says his plate is full, but she says, it’s super simple. She has a name and an occupation in the last five years. He asks who it is, and why she wants to find them. She says, Phyllis Caulfield. She’s a nurse, and Nina thinks Phyllis might have information on her child.

Sonny sees Diane having a drink, and says she looks like she needs it. She says, his wife is the most difficult client she has. He ask if there was trouble at the police station, and she says, Carly wasn’t arrested, so there’s that. He tells her, stop the dramatics and tell him what happened, and she says, the autopsy states Nelle died from a traumatic fall. She went bouncing down the cliff, and was dead before she hit the river. There was a cliff near where Carly admitted finding Nelle, and the detective thinks Carly pushed her.

In the elevator, Carly flashes back to Diane says, never, under any circumstances comment on her feelings. Feelings lead to motives, and motives lead to convictions. She believes Carly didn’t push Nelle off the cliff, but the detective doesn’t. Carly gets out, and sees Diane and Sonny at the bar, but keeps walking. Diane tells Sonny, Carly didn’t push Nelle off the cliff, even if Carly hates her. In the hallway, Carly flashes back to Nelle falling, and Sam startles her. Sam asks if she’s okay.

Dustin asks Lulu how it went with Dante, and she says, it was difficult. They both said a lot of things, and they weren’t said well. She told Dante when he left that she didn’t agree, and didn’t want to end the marriage. When she received the divorce papers, she was completely blindsided. Dustin says if she needs to give it another try, he understands, and is ready to let her go.

Dante hears Willow and Michael talking. Michael says his track record is awful, but Willow says he’ll never know until he tries. He says, neither will she, and she asks what he’s saying. He says, the longer this goes on, the more comfortable they’ll get, and the harder it will be to end it. So if they’re going to end it, they have to do it now. Dante wanders to the front door, and looks outside. Michael comes out, obviously surprised to see Dante. He hurries to his brother, and they hug.

Brooke says, Valentin has been co-parenting with Lulu. He took over ELQ; he can take over custody. He says he and Lulu have both had their days in court, but he realized he was doing more harm good for Charlotte, so he stopped. She says, just like that? and he says, just like that. Their reasons for wanting full custody were the same; they love Charlotte. His past does pose a danger to her, but not as dangerous as becoming like him.

Curtis tells Jordan that Nina offered him a job. It’s straightforward, but he’s not sure he can take it. He’d be tracking another lead to her child. He’d have to find a woman with no effort, but it seems too easy. It seems legit, but he doesn’t want to bring another disappointment to Nina. Chase asks if he can talk to Jordan, and she steps aside with him. He says, it’s about the Jason Morgan crash, and she says, the case has been closed. He says he thinks it’s premature. Obviously Brando is hiding something. She says she’s going to stop him from going further down this rabbit hole. There are plenty of cases that need solving. This is not one of them. She tells him, the case is closed, and walks away.

Brando punches the heavy bag, and flashes back to Sonny telling him, if Cyrus offers him a job, take it. Cyrus walks in, and says Brando is dropping his left shoulder. He’s glad Brando agreed to a meeting, and Brando says, no offense, but why at a place Sonny owns? Cyrus says he and Sonny have a truce. There’s no reason for him to avoid Sonny’s places of business, or for Sonny to avoid General Hospital. If Brando works for him, what if Sonny objects? Brando says, Sonny can object all he wants, but can’t tell him what to do. Cyrus says, glad to hear that, and Brando says he has an answer for him.

In the elevator, Nina tells Jax, she’s still not sure, and he says she doesn’t have to talk to Carly. They can go to his place. He can text Sam that he can’t make it. She says, no, have his meeting. She has to figure out what, if anything, to tell Carly.

Carly tells Sam, she knows she shouldn’t let it bother her, but the detective was clearly on edge. Sam says, Nelle has caused enough grief. Why can’t they close the case? Carly says, that’s how she feels; it’s ridiculous. Jax and Nina come along, and Jax says he has Aurora business to discuss with Sam. They go to a table, and Nina asks Carly if she has a moment. There’s something she’d like to discuss with her.

Sonny asks if Diane thinks Carly will be charged with murder. Diane says, the detective would like to charge her, if he could prove Carly shoved Nelle off the cliff, which he can’t. There are no witnesses, there’s no material evidence, and nothing to prove Nelle didn’t stumble in the dark and fall off the cliff. He asks what the problem is, and Diane says, nothing, except Carly herself.

Carly asks what Nina wants to talk about, and Nina says, Nelle. She’s decided to give Nelle a proper burial.

Dante tells Michael, by the time he got to the church, the funeral was over, but Sonny was still there. Michael is sure Sonny must be glad Dante is back; it will make Mike’s loss more bearable. Those last days were rough, but meaningful. They said what they needed to say, and when Mike died Sonny and his dad were at peace. Dante is grateful Michael was there; he’s a good brother for stepping up. Michael introduces Willow, and Dante says he’d ask if she makes Michael happy, but he can see it written on Michael’s face.

Valentin says, his general feeling is that the end justifies the means. He’ll lie, cheat, steal, and worse, to get what he wants. She says, other than that, he’s a nice guy. He says he won’t actively seek to destroy things, and tries not to make enemies, but he didn’t consider what he might be doing to his daughter. Brook says his daughter wants to be like him; she gets it. She felt that way about her dad. Sometimes she still does. That makes it harder, knowing she’s disappointed him.

Jordan tells Curtis, if she’s not careful, Chase is going to figure out how she’s compromised. He wanted to talk about Jason’s crash. He doesn’t buy that it was an accident.

On the phone, Chase asks for the complete file; everything in the case about the accident. He knows it’s closed, but he got stuck doing the write-up. Send every test they ran. He owes them one. He gets a call from the gym, and finds out he left his wallet there. He jets.

Cyrus tells Brando, he needs a driver to take him where he wants to go, and provide security and protection when he gets there. Brando says he can do that. Cyrus says there’s opportunity for advancement, and Brando asks, what’s the downside? Cyrus asks what he means, and Brando says he’ll be putting himself between Cyrus and a bullet. How many people want Cyrus dead? Cyrus says he doesn’t think anyone is actively trying to kill him at the moment, but the situation could change. He needs to find someone; if not Brando, someone else. Brando needs to make a decision. If he’s going to take the job, he starts tomorrow.

Sam sits with Jax, and he reminds her that they’d discussed her taking a more active role in Aurora, but she says she’s still not ready. He says the lack of permanent leadership is hurting her half of the company. Has she considered selling? She says she can’t. It’s Scout’s inheritance, and she wants it to be there when Scout gets older. He says, understood, and she says, what about him? but he says he can’t take on both divisions.

Diane tells Sonny, Detective DeLeon is convinced Carly is guilty, mostly because of her last name. Sonny says, he wants to take down a Corinthos, and she says, the detective would be delighted to charge Sonny with Nelle’s murder, but he was miles away at the time. He says Diane should have protected Carly; that’s what he pays her for. She says she did. She shut down every avenue of inquiry, including Carly’s fight on stairs with Nelle. Sonny asks why she brought it up, and she says the detective did, citing a parallel. Sonny says, it should have ended there, and Diane says, that was her legal strategy. Carly needed to finish, so they can claim she cooperated fully, but then the detective asked if Carly thought Nelle posed a threat to her family. Carly replied that Nelle was twisted and evil, and she was relieved Nelle was dead.

Carly says she’s not sure she understands, and Nina says, the police offered Nelle’s body to Julian, but he refused. He wanted her buried in Potter’s Field. She couldn’t let that happen, so she got a plot at Woodlawn. Carly says, Mike and Morgan are buried there. So is Willow’s poor little baby that Nelle switched. Nina says, their plots are on the other side of the cemetery, and Carly asks if that’s supposed to make it okay. Nina says she knows Carly is upset, but think about Nelle’s son. Doesn’t she think it will help Wiley to visit a grave with a headstone, and have a tangible reminder of his biological mother? Carly says, no. She thinks it will help Nina.

Brook tells Valentin, everyone keeps asking why she doesn’t go home, instead of camping on Chase’s couch. The truth is, she could. Valentin says she couldn’t go home now. And swallow that gorgeous pride? It would be admitting she can’t make it on her own. She says even if she apologized, her father would still treat her like she’d done wrong. He says, that’s an understatement. If she goes home, it would be on their terms, and she’d never give them the satisfaction. She asks how he knows, and he says he’d do the same thing.

Lulu asks if Dustin is breaking up with her. He says she and Dante have history; they don’t. It makes sense that she’d want to try again, for herself and the kids. So he’ll step back and make things easier. She says things would be harder without him.

Dante says, so Michael and Willow teamed up to fight Nelle for custody, and Michael says, the judge’s decision had a lot to do with Willow. Willow says he’s giving her too much credit. Dante asks what it feels like, marrying into the two most dysfunctional families in Port Charles? Willow says, it’s been wonderful. She’s going to miss it. Dante looks questioningly at them, and Michael says they’ve decided to end the marriage.

Jordan tells Curtis, Chase is starting to put the pieces together, and is going to figure out someone powerful is pulling the strings. He’ll know it’s not Sonny. How long until he digs deep enough? Every favor she’s done for Cyrus is waiting to be uncovered. He asks what about the file Cyrus asked for, and she says, it’s nothing good, she’s sure.

Jax tells Sam, he’s not comfortable running the other half of Aurora unless he owns it. She says she’ll have to hire someone, and he says he can’t help with that, but he can make a few calls. She says she thinks she has someone in mind.

Sonny asks Diane how bad the damage is, and she says, it works in Carly’s favor that she admitted struggling with Nelle. It will explain any trace amounts of her DNA. He asks, what about the detective wanting to charge Carly? and Diane says, with what? All the evidence points to an accident. If Carly just keeps her mouth shut from here on in, she’s home free. He says, nice work. Diane earned her money today. Diane laughs and takes a drink.

Carly says, for years, Nelle tormented her family. For some reason, Nina identifies with Nelle, and she doesn’t believe Nina is doing this for Wiley. She thinks Nina is doing it to make herself feel better. She tells Nina, get some therapy, but don’t polish Nelle’s reputation. There’s nothing she can do for Nelle; she’s dead. Why not help the living? Help Wiley. Let them move on with their lives. Carly gets up and walks away.

Michael tells Dante, they got married to improve his chances for custody. Nelle is gone now, and Willow agreed to adopt Wiley. There’s no reason for them to stay married. Willow says she’s enjoyed being Michael’s wife, and being part of both families, but the situation has changed. Dante says he just got there, so what does he know, but they seem happy, and genuinely compatible. It’s a rare thing, but they know what’s best for them. He asks what the next step is, and Michael says neither one of them want a divorce. Willow says, they have no grounds, and Michael says, they decided on an annulment. Dante says, they don’t just happen overnight. They can take a long time. His Uncle Vinnie’s took almost a year. Michael says neither one of them is in a big hurry.

Lulu tells Dustin, the last thing she expected was to open the door and see Dante. It will be an adjustment having him back. She’ll have to reevaluate, and make room in her life for him, but it doesn’t mean she wants to let Dustin go. He says he wants to make it okay for her, and she says, it is. Dante wanted to end the marriage, and told her to move on, and she did. She wants Dustin to stay where he is. In her home and life, like they planned. He hugs her.

Jax asks Nina how it went with Carly, and she says, not great. Carly thinks she identifies with Nelle, and is paying for Nelle’s burial to feel better about herself. He says he’s sorry, and she says, but he’s not surprised. Does he agree? He says he thinks she’s giving Nelle a proper burial because she honestly cares, but he agrees her care is misplaced.

Carly tells Sonny, she saw Diane leaving. Did Diane tell him that she’s double-charging her? Sonny tells her, Diane also said Carly told the detective that she was relieved Nelle was dead. She says she is, but she’d be more relieved if Nelle was in an unmarked grave. Nina has other plans, and Nelle is going to be buried at Woodlawn. Sonny says, what? and Carly says, Nina insisted Wiley would need a place to visit his mom’s grave. If she didn’t know better, she’d swear Nelle orchestrated it herself.

Sam calls Michael, and he asks if everything is okay. She says it is, but she could use his help. She asks if he has time to meet tomorrow.

Jordan tells Curtis, the file is more than four years old and heavily redacted. He asks what the crime is, and she says, murder. Back in the day, it must have been important to someone to minimize exposure. He wonders why Cyrus would care, and she says she intends to find out. He says he thinks it might have something to do with the hospital and whatever Cyrus’s agenda is.

Cyrus suggests Brando notify Sonny, so it’s out in the open. Brando says, understood, and Cyrus says if Brando happens to hear anything of interest, he expects to be told. He likes to stay informed. Brando says Sonny treats him like a poor relation, and Jason thinks he sabotaged the bike. They don’t tell him anything, so if that’s the real reason Cyrus hired him, he should call it off. Cyrus says he hired Brando to drive him. He expects Brando to be there at 8 am. Welcome aboard. They shake hands, and Chase sees them.

Brook tells Valentin, they’ve been running in circles, trying to convince everyone they’re the person everyone wants them to be, instead of who they are. He asks who she is, and she says, a singer who can’t sing. Who is he? He says, a lover who can’t be with the one he loves. She says, poor us, and he says, poor, poor us. She grabs his tie, pulling him closer, and they kiss.

Tomorrow, Nikolas tells Elizabeth that things didn’t go as planned, Jax says he can’t participate, and Valentin tells Brook that he doesn’t regret last night.

The Haves and The Have Nots

Jeffrey tells Colby to get out of the pool. Colby says, if she’s calling the police, they have time. Jeffrey says, she’s not calling the police; she’s getting her gun. Trevor (or Terry) says they’re not getting shot for him, and they both get out. Colby says they’re such wusses, and Jeffrey tells him, get out. Colby says it was Jeffrey’s idea, but Jeffrey says, no it wasn’t. Colby tells him, the water is so warm, and Jeffrey says, she will shoot him and get off. Colby says, she can’t do that, and floats around. Jeffrey says get his ass out of the pool, and Colby says she can kiss his ass. Relax. Jeffrey says he doesn’t need to relax. He knows her. Get out. Colby says, okay, but continues to drift around. Veronica tells Samuel, if he hears gunshots, don’t be alarmed. And if he is alarmed, wait six minutes to call the police. He asks if it’s about the guys in pool. Let him talk to them. She asks if he goes that way too, and he says, no, but he’s not interested in calling the police. She tells him to get out of her way.

Colby tells Jeffrey, stand up to this bitch. Veronica comes out, and asks if this was Jeffrey’s idea. Colby says, sure was, bitch – and his. Sam tells Colby to get out, but Veronica says, let it stay. Colby says, it? and she says, he’s not a boy, not a girl, he’s in the middle – an it. Colby says she’s like her own definition. Not old, not young, all used up, washed up, and run through – an it. Sam tells him again to get out of the pool, but Colby says he wants to piss rainbows in it. Veronica says, let it stay, and starts to shoot. Sam grabs her, and she keeps shooting, but he keeps her from shooting at Colby. Jeffrey tells Colby, hurry up, and Colby scrambles out and runs. Sam tells Veronica, it’s okay, and continues to hold her arms. She asks why he’s holding her. She can’t stand for a man to overpower her. He says, sorry, and she says she was going to kill that son of a bitch. Sam says, damn. She’d have made him clean it up too. He kisses her, and tells her that she’s sexy. They kiss some more, and he backs away.

David pulls up to his house, and sees Alissa. He tells his guard, what the hell? and Alissa says she’s there to talk to him. He says he’s not in the mood, but she says, please. He says, what? and she says, inside, please. The guard says he checked her out; she’s clean. David says, come on, and they go in. He asks again, what? She says she thinks she’s gone about this all wrong, and he says she did. She says she means she should have just slit her tire, and waited for him to help. That’s what Erica did; she staged the whole thing. He says he knows that now, and she says she should have decided to just tell him that she wants to be kept. He could have her body any way he wants. She’ll let him do whatever, whenever. She just wants a nice apartment and to get out of the game. David says, that’s it? She says it like it’s nothing. She says she doesn’t want to insult him, and he says, she has, over and over. She tells him, trust her; it’s all she wants. He says, whenever someone says, trust me, he doesn’t. (I hear that.) She asks if he ran her. He should, since he doesn’t remember her. He asks why he would, and she says she came before him, when he was on the bench. She was nine. He says he saw a lot of people when he was a judge. She says her father was raping her and her sister, and killed their mother. David thinks back, and he says she asked him where she was going to go after they put her father away for life. Alissa says, he remembers, and he says he often wondered what happened to her. She says, here she is. When she was working with Erica, she knew he was a good man. He asks what happened to her sister, and Alissa says, she died of a drug overdose. He says, sorry, and she says her first foster parents were the worst. She’s sorry she’s so wild and crazy, but here are her labs. She hands him some paperwork, and says she’s disease free, but if he sleeps with another woman, he has to tell her. She uses condoms, and doesn’t exchange bodily fluids, but he can have her any way he likes. He says she should put more value on herself, and she says she knows what she’s worth. He asks how much Candace is getting, but she says she’s had no contact with Candace for as long as she can remember. He says she’s lying, but she says, that’s something she won’t do. He says she should leave, and she says, after he makes love to her. She starts taking off her clothes, and tells him, she loves sex. He tells her, stop, and she says, don’t make her beg, and he lets her not stop.

Hanna and Al go over Kathryn’s paperwork, and Al asks if Hannah understands. She says, she got the first part, but the other part is complicated. He says that’s why people hire people like him to stay on top of the changes. He tells her not to be so hard on herself. She says she has to learn. Her boss put her in charge because she trusts her. He tells her, don’t expect to be an accountant in one day. She doesn’t expect to be able to do all this, does she? Hanna says, no, and he tells her to take the pressure off herself. She says he doesn’t get it. She can’t. She’s worked her whole life. She likes to work. She started as a maid, and she was never ashamed of being one. She’s a caregiver, and loves being of service. Kathryn trusts her and has given her a huge responsibility. This was her life, her family lineage, her legacy now. She’s got to honor that, so she has to get this. He says he admires that; it’s who she is. She says she knows a lot of people who are like that, and he says she doesn’t get it. Kathryn gave her power over everything. She could put it in her name. Hanna says that wouldn’t cross her mind, and he says, that’s why he admires her. She says, it’s called integrity. He says her eyes are beautiful, and she says, thank you, but can they get back to what they were doing? Talk to her about section 2, title 9. He says she wants to go for the big stuff. She says, show her all of it, and he says he’s impressed with her.

Jeffrey and the others go back to Madison’s apartment. Colby says he’s still crazy and adventurous, and Jeffrey says, he’s drunk. Terry (or Trevor) says, that was insane. Colby says too bad he wasn’t down for it, and he says he’s down for living. She shot at him. Colby says, he lived. He tells Jeffrey, he used to be fun, and one of the T’s says, she shot a hole in her pool. Colby says, she wasn’t serious, and Jeffrey says, yes, she was. Trevor and Terry decide it’s time to go. Too much excitement. They leave, and Colby says, they’re so boring. He asks if Jeffrey wants a drink, but Jeffrey thinks Colby has had enough. Colby asks if Jeffrey wants him to walk a straight line. He doesn’t do drugs, and drinks a little. He gets it. Jeffrey thinks if he gets intoxicated on some level, he’ll be bold himself. That’s why he didn’t jump in the pool. Jeffrey says, it was a bad idea, and Colby says, it was his idea. Jeffrey says, he knows, but… Colby says, no buts. Does he know why Colby wanted him to jump into the pool buck naked? The pool represents the world, the water represents what Jeffrey fears. Being naked represents vulnerability, and jumping in is saying, this is him. Instead, Jeffrey operated in fear. Jeffrey says, she shot him, and Colby says, shot at him. What he’s saying is, when you live your life fully, people always take shots at you. Succumb. Jeffrey says he understands, and Colby says he knows Jeffrey does. He went to school for this sh*t. Madison comes home, and says, oh hell. Colby says, what? and Madison asks what he missed. Jeffrey says, tell him, but Colby lies down with his head in Jeffrey’s lap, and says he needs a nap. Jeffrey says, they went to his mom’s, and Colby says, tell him how she almost ended a bitch. Tell Madison the two of them need to go out and talk about when Jeffrey’s dad walked in on them, and how he’s worried that Madison is only attracted to his body. Sh*t they should have talked about at the beginning of the relationship. Colby’s phone rings, and he says he needs to make a run. Madison says, booty call? and Colby says, maybe. He asks where he can take it, and Madison says, the bedroom. Madison sits next to Jeffrey, and asks, what happened? Jeffrey says, they went to his mom’s house, because Madison told Colby too much. Madison says Colby is pretty much his only friend, and he’s kind of amazing. Jeffrey says Colby kind of almost died, and Madison says, what happened?

In the bedroom, Colby tells someone, it’s $250 for a half hour, like his online ad says. Text him the address, and he’ll be right there. He only plays it safe. Yes, he has condoms. He’ll see them soon.

Veronica’s doorbell rings. A dude comes in, and says she wanted to see him. She says he’s been working for Mrs. Cryer; she knows he’s her gigolo. She knows he’s ex-military, and French. He was there on a visa, and married to get citizenship. He’s a mercenary, and did things Kathryn needed done. She tells him that her husband is having her followed. He hired someone, and she needs to take care of it. He says, if he was that kind of person, what would she pay? She says, if he was, she would start at $5000. He says, that’s low, and she says, she told him start. If he wasn’t in the sack with Kathryn, she’d give him a better price. He should know, Kathryn’s in jail, so whatever was going on, it’s over. He says, in jail for what? and she says, murder. He really should read the English newspapers. He’s American now. He says, and she’s a bitch. He doesn’t like bitches. She asks if he’s ever tried one. He declines her offer, and she says, 10. He says he’ll think about it, and she says, don’t think too long. She was told whoever’s following her is foreign, and she needs a foreigner to take care of it. He says, make it 15, and she says, for that, he should be rubbing her back. He says, when he’s done, she’ll be the one rubbing his back. She says, deal, and he says he’ll be in touch. He leaves, and she smiles.

David visits Jim in the hospital, and says, the car wasn’t at the loft. Let him use the locator. Jim says he’ll have to give David his password, and David says he knows everything else. Jim looks at his phone, and says, the car is… where is that? David looks, and says, the police station down the street. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe they have Wyatt in custody. Jim says, they know he’s safe, and David says, as safe as he can be in jail. He’ll talk to Carmen, and she what she knows. Jim says he’s going batsh*t crazy, and David says he’s got to relax. Jim says David sounds like his mother. David tells Jim, text him the link for he app, and leaves. Jim says if David was really a friend, he’d go to the app store and download it. He taps his phone, and says, oh. That’s a whole other app.

On the phone, Veronica says, Laura Wilson and Samuel Wilson. She needs to know everything there is to know. They’re up to something, and she wants to know what it is. She wants to be one step ahead of them. She wants a full background check, and wants everything as soon as – really that soon? She says, great, thank you. She looks on her phone at Samuel’s picture and bio.

David goes into the station, and tells the desk sergeant, Judge David Harrington would like to see Carmen Davis. The sergeant makes a call, and says she’ll be out in a second. Carmen comes out, and asks what brings him to see her, of all people? He says he needs a favor. She says she can’t let him see Kathryn, or Wyatt. He asks if Wyatt is there, and she says she can’t tell him. The Chief and DA are on something in the case, and she shouldn’t even be talking to him. He says, they go way back. Tell him what’s going on. She says she resents him coming in after not talking to her for years. He says she knows how Veronica is; he was protecting her. She says he wasn’t, and she’s afraid she can’t give him any information. Sorry. Why doesn’t he call one of his friends who’s still on the bench. He says they’re pariahs in this town, and she says, my, how the mighty have fallen. He tells her, don’t count him out, and she says she never does. She did count their relationship out. Don’t call her again. Next time she might not be so nice. She leaves, and he asks the desk sergeant what the hell he’s staring at.

Sam tells Veronica, it’s all fixed, and she asks how much she owes him. He says, nothing, but she says it’s dark out there, and he’s been out there a long while. He says he wanted to make sure everything was done right. He takes a lot of pride in his work. She says he takes a lot of pride in working out. How often does he go to the gym? He says he and his wife go every day, and asks if she’s going to look at the camera to make sure it’s fixed. The wire was sliced. She asks if he’s sure it wasn’t wear and tear, but he says, it was cut. Does she know anyone who would do that? She says she has a lot of enemies. He says he finds that hard to believe, but she says, don’t; it’s true. He says she’s such a nice woman, and she says, keep it up. Flattery will get him everywhere. He says he has to get back; he’s making dinner. She ask what he likes to cook, and he says, Laura’s favorites. She gives him a bottle of wine, and says for them to enjoy with dinner; a $1200 bottle. He says he couldn’t. Laura will ask way too many questions. She’ll want to know why Veronica gave it to him. Veronica says she wanted him to enjoy himself; she’s possessive. He says he likes to keep the questions to a minimum. She asks if he’s sure she can’t pay him, but he says he has to go. Rest assured, he doesn’t remember anything about what happened. He leaves, and she guesses she’ll have to drink it her own damn self.

Justin flashes back over his time with Jeffrey, as he takes the pictures of Jeffrey off the wall, and throws them away. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Colby, who asks, is he Sam? Justin says he is, and Colby asks where he wants to do this. Justin asks if they can talk first, and Colby says, it’s his dime. Justin sits, and asks how often Colby does this. Colby says, as often as he needs to. Justin says, how often? and Colby says he thought he was there to have a good time. He asks how often Justin does this, and Justin says, never. Colby says he’s in luck. Justin is cute, even with the bruises. Justin says Colby’s ad said masculine, and Colby says, he’s whatever Justin’s fantasy is, calling Justin daddy. Justin says he thinks Colby should leave, and Colby says Justin needs to pay him. Justin says Colby was there for two seconds. He’s not paying sh*t. Colby says, then they have a problem. He can do anything and everything Justin needs him to do. Tanner walks in.

Veronica’s doorbell rings again, and she says she knew it was him. She pulls in a kind of old guy, and calls him judge. He says, it’s late, and she says, it’s an emergency. He says he was hoping it was. If it’s about Kathryn, he can’t help; no one will. She says, it’s not about Kathryn. It’s about Kathryn’s husband. He has two kids by their maid, and he hasn’t paid support in many years. She has the documents to prove it. She hands him a folder, and he says she knows he hates that bastard. What does she need? Veronica says, $2000 by tomorrow, and he asks if that’s all she wants. She says, unless he wants to give her more, and the judge says, he does, but they’ll start here. He’ll give Jim 24-hours, and sign a warrant. He asks if she’d like to deliver the news personally, and she says she’d like nothing more. He says, it’s good see her, and leers at her. He asks if she’s sure she doesn’t want to… for old times’ sake. She asks how his pacemaker is holding up, and he says, it wouldn’t be. He tells her that she’s as sexy as ever, but she’s right. He leaves, and she’s like, yuk. She says she needs a shower, and calls Celine, leaving a message. She says she has great news. They’re going see Jim in person. They’ll talk later. She trots upstairs, presumably to take a shower.

Tanner says he knew he couldn’t trust Justin. Colby says he didn’t know Justin had a lover. He’ll just go. Tanner says he’s not going nowhere. What are they doing? Justin says, nothing, and Tanner asks who Colby is, and what he’s doing there. Colby says he’s there to meet a friend, and Tanner asks how he knows Justin. Colby says they go to the same gym, and Tanner asks, what gym? Colby says the one Justin goes to. What’s with the questions? Is he a cop? Tanner says he is, and Colby asks, what division? Tanner says, the bomb squad. He’s the one asking the questions. Colby says, clearly, they have things to work out. He’ll let them do that. Tanner says he’s a prostitute, and Colby says, excuse me? Tanner says he saw the text chain. Justin says Tanner cloned his phone? and Tanner says he can’t trust Justin to do the right thing. They’re not going anywhere. He calls them queers, and Colby says, this is going in the wrong direction. He’s excusing himself. Tanner stops him, and says he thinks he’ll break Colby’s face first, but Colby says, first of all, his face is his fortune. And he doesn’t think Tanner wants to do that. Tanner asks, why the hell not? and Colby says he’s not your average bear. Then proceeds to totally kick Tanners ass, Tanner ending up on the floor against the wall. Colby says I’m a former marine, bitch. Don’t let being gay fool him. He’s all man. He says he’s glad he wasn’t some kid they took advantage of. Where’s his money? Tanner says, don’t give it to him, and Colby asks if he’ll have to mess up his makeup even more. Justin hands him the money, and he says, thank you, boo.

At the Iron Bone, Vinnie is on the phone. He says, she still won’t budge. He calls Mama Rose, and says, the Cryer lady said no deal… Okay… Yes, ma’am. He’ll make it look like an accident. He’s got it. He chugs the rest of his beer, and says, let’s go. His three guys follow him.

They go downstairs, where Wyatt sits in the dark. Vinnie pulls a chair over, and tells him to sit. He wants to tell him something. The guys surround him, and Vinnie says he wants to see his wrists. He tells the guys, take the bandages off. Wyatt says, it hurts, and Vinnie says, those are scratches. Give him the knife. Wyatt says, for what? and Vinnie’s guys hold him. Vinnie asks if he wants to die, and Wyatt says, no. Vinnie says he’s going to, and Wyatt says, what about the money? Vinnie says his mom didn’t pay a dime. Wyatt says, she said that? and Vinnie says, yep. She cut him, so he’s going to cut Wyatt. Wyatt begs him to wait; he’s sorry. Vinnie says, hold his arm, and tells Wyatt, relax. Remember when Wyatt cut him? Wyatt says he didn’t mean too, and Vinnie cuts his wrist. Wyatt says, it’s too much blood. He’s going to die. Vinnie says, know how much blood he lost when Wyatt cut him? Wyatt says he’s sorry, and Vinnie cuts the other wrist. He says when Wyatt passes out, leave him on the Cryer lawn. Wyatt left him to die, so one thing for another. Wyatt says, too much blood…

Next time – the finale – Mitch tells Candace that Benny knows about Derrick, Alissa tells David that he’s buying her a house, Veronica pays a visit to Justin, and Veronica tells Sam to let her upgrade him. There will also be a special announcement for loyal fans. I have no clue what that might be.

🧙🏽‍♂️ Making myself disappear…

This week is going to be quite the magic act, as well as doing some acrobatics. Tomorrow is a peek at the OC and a cup of tea, but for now, stay safe, stay surprising yourself, and stay away from the Iron Bone. Nothing good seems to happen there.

What I Watched Today

Fear the Walking Dead

What looks like a gang of convicts is led into the yard of a sugar processing plant. One of Ginny’s rangers says he’s not one to give second chances. It seems Virginia is. Who is he to argue? The people form a line, and he tells them that they’re here because they deserve to be in a grave. Think of it as a final chance to dig their way out. He bangs on a solid metal warehouse gate, and cocks his gun. Zombie noises come from inside, and there’s pushing on the gate. The prisoners all have pokey sticks, and one asks why they’re being made to do this. What’s in there? The ranger says, one way to find out. Aim between the eyes, and whatever you do, don’t get too close. He tells them to move forward, and they move closer, holding their spears ready. The ranger says, door, and another ranger pulls on the chain that raises the gate. Disgusting goop drips from bottom, and pools out on the floor. The gate is only a couple of feet up, and the ranger says, raise it, but the other one says, it’s stuck. Zombies start crawling out, and the ranger says, drop it, but a zombie grabs door guy’s leg, and drags him in, along with one of the prisoners that didn’t listen and got too close. The others try poking at them, and the ranger tells a prisoner, don’t just stand there; drop the door, but he says he can’t. The ranger moves him out of the way, and another prisoner gets dragged in. She claws at him, and says, please. He shoots her. The chain breaks, and the ranger is snatched in. One of the prisoners tries to help him, but can’t, and ends up getting dragged in too. When it’s over, one prisoner named Sanja is left standing, and blood mixed with goop flows out of the door.

Just outside Lawson, Victor dumps something in a barrel, and tells Alicia, that’s the last of it. Alicia pours gas on it, and sets it on fire. She tells Victor, they’d better get back before sundown. Al’s van pulls up, and Victor asks if there’s a problem. Ranger Marcus is driving, and says the wind is blowing toward the canteen, and they can’t enjoy lunch. Move it down. Victor says it’s his sh*t. If he doesn’t like it, come out and move it himself. Marcus gets out, and asks if Victor thinks he’s afraid of him, and Victor says Marcus wouldn’t have the tank if not for him. Marcus asks, if Victor is so important, why is he carrying a bucket of sh*t ? Victor says, he’s not, and tosses it near Marcus’s feet. A girl jumps out of the tank, and tells Marcus to leave them alone. He calls her Dakota, and tells her to get away from the fence. Victor wonders what the hell is going on, and Marcus says they’ll let Ginny settle it.

Alicia and Victor are led through town in handcuffs. Victor tells Alicia, he’s sorry, but she says, don’t be. Victor says, he deserves it, but he’d always thought they’d come into town under more auspicious circumstances. Dakota pops out, and tells them Marcus is an a-hole, which made it funnier. They all introduce themselves, and Dakota says she knows who they are. Alicia thanks her again for her help.

While getting a haircut, Ginny radios someone to send a ranger to the western territories. He’s got to be out there somewhere. Her secretary or whatever asks if she’s ready for them, and she says, send them in. Victor and Alicia come in, and we see it’s Daniel cutting Ginny’s hair. Victor says he didn’t know Daniel was there, and Ginny tells them, have a seat. She hopes they don’t mind; she wasn’t expecting a visit. She adds that they could use some time in the chair themselves. Alicia asks what she did to Daniel, and Ginny says, nothing. He was hellbent on getting his cat, things got ugly, and he wouldn’t stand down. (I do not want to know.) She says, everyone has to contribute, and Victor asks if that’s the fate that awaits them. Ginny says she was hoping for more from them than cleaning out latrines. Alicia says that’s what she assigned them, and Ginny says, Victor assaulted a ranger in broad daylight. That can’t go unpunished. Victor asks where she’s sending them, and she says, somewhere that suits their more natural talents. She asks them to excuse her. She’s got more pressing matters to attend to. She checks her hair, and tells Victor that he’s already squandered one opportunity. Don’t waste this one. She leaves, and Alicia asks what that was about. Victor say he doesn’t know, and tries talking to Daniel in Spanish. Daniel says he doesn’t know what Victor is saying, and in Spanish, Victor says he doesn’t have to pretend. He asks Daniel to look him in the eyes, and say he doesn’t know who he is. He touches Daniel’s arm, and Daniel says he doesn’t know who Victor is. Daniel starts packing up his stuff, and Victor says Daniel told him to remember who he was in there. Can’t Daniel do the same? Daniel stops, and says he doesn’t know who Victor thinks he is, but he doesn’t know who Victor lost, or what’s weighing on him. He takes out a St. Christopher’s medal, telling Victor that he found it on one of the dead. His wife wore one. It helps people bear heavy burdens. He gives it to Victor, and says Victor needs it more than he does.

Victor and Alicia ride in the back of a tank. The driver tells them, get out; they’re here. Victor hopes it’s not what he thinks it is. It’s the sugar plant, and the ranger takes them to the warehouse, and Alicia asks, what’s in there? The ranger says they’ll find out when they clear it. Virginia is building the future. What’s in there is the key to getting it done… if they survive. They see a prisoner running, and he gets shot in the back. The ranger says they don’t take kindly to runners there. He gives Alicia a pokey weapon that’s no more than an armband, and Victor gets a spear. Alicia says she’s they’re going to need something more to make a dent, and the ranger says they’ll send a truck with supplies. If they’re still breathing when he gets back. He leaves, and Alicia says, they trust them? Victor says, for good reason.

Charlie joins them, and Alicia asks what she’s doing there. Charlie says she tried run away – twice. Janice comes along, and Victor guesses he and Alicia aren’t the only ones in the dog house. He asks what Janice did, and she says, what did she do, or what did they catch her doing? Victor asks, who’s in charge? and she says, the rangers keep it clear. Victor asks, what happened? and looks at the gate. We hear zombie noises, and Janice says, they did. Victor asks how many rangers there are, and she says, ten, nine now. He asks, what about the prisoners? Can they be trusted? She says, some, but not all. He asks, why? and she says, they’re not going to clear this place. They need to get the hell out of there.

Charlie explains that there were too many tanks, and they were leaking. They’re full of molasses, and it sticks like nothing else. If the door jams… Sanja is still there, and Victor moves toward the door chain, telling him, stay back. Sanja says he could have tried harder, but he didn’t. He was just the a-hole who watched. He heard about what Victor did. How he stood up to Marcus. He wishes he had the guts. Someone yells, twenty-four; let’s go. The ranger is back with the truck, and says he got them delivered. Victor and Alicia open the back of the truck, and Victor says, you’d think they could provide better weaponry, picking up a makeshift spear. Alicia tells Victor, this isn’t going to work. They need better people; more people. The rangers have guns. He says, the people there couldn’t cut it. Things could go very bad very fast. This can’t be their only move. Alicia wonders what this is really about, and Victor says, they’ve been listening to other people long enough. It’s time for them to start listing to themselves. Charlie finds Dakota in the truck, and is about to pounce on her, and Alicia says, it’s okay. Dakota says she won’t go back. She heard what they were talking about, and she can help. She knows what happens if they take out a ranger. Alicia asks, how? and she says Virginia is her sister. Victor tells her, come with them.

Hidden under a blanket, Dakota goes with Victor, Alicia, and Charlie to a more secluded spot. Victor says, start talking, and she says, they’re not the first people to try. If anyone kills a ranger, Ginny will hunt them down and kill them. If she can’t find them, she’ll hurt and kill people they love. Victor asks if Ginny isn’t going to come looking for Dakota, and she says Ginny will figure out she’s gone by time it’s dark. She wants to get away, and find other people who do. Alicia asks why Dakota thinks she can help, and Dakota says she knows who they are. She saw their tapes. Her sister was obsessed with them. Victor says their reputation precedes them. He asks how they escape, and Dakota says she knows what’s inside the warehouse. They just need to get it. He says, what? and she says, a weapon. He asks, what kind? and she says she doesn’t know, but it’s important enough that Ginny keeps throwing bodies at it. She wants what’s in there. Someone is out there trying kill her, and she wants to use it. He asks, who put it there? How does she know it’s in there? And why are so many dead between it and them? Dakota says, if they can get it, they can overpower the rangers; use it against them. Alicia asks why they should believe her, and Dakota says she hears what goes on, like the deal Victor made. Alicia asks Victor, what deal? and Victor says, sh*t. It’s not what she thinks. Alicia walks and he follows her. He says, Ginny splits people up. He asked her to keep them together. Alicia asks, why do that? She can take care of herself. Victor says he did it for himself… what he needs to do to survive. He can’t do it without help. Not without her. It’s the least she can do. She asks what he means, and he says Daniel told him to remember who he is. She helps him do that. It’s not about right or wrong, but about being someone you can look in eye when this is over. Alicia says, then he doesn’t think they should risk it? He told her they needed to make a decision for themselves. She thinks they should make this one. He asks if she really thinks there’s a way to do it, and she says she does. He says, okay; let’s do it then. It’s going to be dark soon, and Ginny will realize Dakota is missing.

Some of the other prisoners join them, and Victor asks a prisoner if he’s sure, and he says he wants to get out as much as they do. Sanja stands by the gate, and Victor says it’s their last chance to get these things out of the way. Alicia says, it will work, and Victor asks if Sanja is ready. He says, now, and Sanja raises the gate. Inside is a track, like the metal things set up when you wait in line for a ride. The zombies amble out, and Victor and Alicia bang on the metal bars. Sanja looks like he might have a heart attack, and the group stands ready. As the zombies come out, they stab and spear them one by one. Zombies are pouring into the track, and as they’re killed, the group takes turns adding them to a pile. They’re coming faster, and Sanja holds the side of the gate where they’re coming out; it looks like it’s about to burst. Alicia tries closing them off, but one grabs Charlie, dragging her in. Alicia stabs it quickly, and pulls Charlie away, but another zombie tries to pull her back. Dakota comes in from the side, and stabs it, and Alicia asks if Charlie is all right. Charlie says she’s okay, and Dakota shows her the knife, saying she can thank the ranger who had a run-in with Victor. A ranger’s voice says, all right. Get away from her. Two rangers are there, and one comes up to Dakota, asking what the hell she’s doing. She radios Ginny, and says they found her. She tells the group to put their weapons down, and they do. Dakota says she’s not leaving. The woman reaches for her, and Dakota backs up, saying, don’t touch her; she’s not allowed. The ranger says they’ll see what Virginia has to say about that. The gate isn’t holding any longer, and Victor tells everyone to pick up their weapons. He tells Sanja to let go of the gate, and the zombies through. The ranger radios for help. Victor and Alicia stand ready.

The zombies are corralled, and Victor says, they can do this. He tells everyone, spread out, and lifts the latch to the gate. A ranger tries to take grab Dakota, but she runs. Alicia, Victor, and the others use pieces of the broken gate as shields as they kill the zombies. One of the rangers is drug into a cluster of zombies, and that’s the end of him. I laugh, then Dakota pushes the other ranger into the zombies, and I really laugh. Victor loses his weapon, and says he thinks he knows how get something. He and Dakota run to a trailer. Sanja is in the trailer, and asks Victor not to make him go out there. Victor beeps the horn, and asks if they’re moving, but Sanja says, no. Victor keeps beeping, and Sanja says, it doesn’t work. Victor asks for Sanja’s knife, and tells Sanja to follow him. He tells Dakota, don’t move. Sanja says, Victor knows how much trouble they’re going to be in, and Victor says they were in trouble anyway. Sanja says he should have taken the rangers out; why didn’t he? Victor says, good question, and stabs Sanja. He says Sanja said he wishes he had stood up today. Today is the day he gets to be a hero. Victor gets the zombies’ attention, and basically tosses Sanja toward them.

Inside, Charlie and Alicia take the rangers guns, and shoot the zombies. Victor watches as the zombies tear Sanja apart. Alicia and Charlie make short work of the zombies, and I think, that was fast. Why didn’t they just do that in the first place? Victor says, they did it. Alicia sees a mangled Sanja, and Victor says he tried to stop him. It’s what he wanted. He did it for them. On the radio, they hear Ginny say, don’t let her out of your sight. Victor says there’s not enough time to get what they came for. Dakota joins them, and they go back into the warehouse.

Victor says, there’s nothing there; there’s no weapon. Dakota says, there has to be. Virginia said so. Alicia says, or they were sent on a wild goose chase to expose them. Dakota says she’s not lying, and Charlie says, they believe her. Victor says, here she comes, and Alicia says, they can’t hold her off. He says, no they can’t, and tells everyone, it’s over. Let’s go. Alicia, Charlie, and Janice follow him back out, with Dakota straggling behind. Ginny asks where her sister is, and Victor says, these people were just acting at his behest; just punish him. She says, why would she do that? He did what no one else could. Alicia says, for what? and Ginny says, the key to survival. Victor says, there’s nothing there, and Ginny says she’s been looking for a true leader. Each and every one of them is the key. This is how they survive. Congratulations. He formed an army. She goes over to Dakota, and says, never leave her side again. The rangers lead them out, and Victor asks Ginny what she wants an army for? Some of them are not her biggest fans. How does she expect them to follow her. She says that’s his job. He can find young soldiers – she shows him a Pioneers key – and this will allow him to use them however he sees fit. When the time comes, and she calls for a big show, he’d best be ready.  She gives him the key, and he puts it in his pocket.

Daniel cuts Charlie’s hair, and she says he really doesn’t remember the warehouse? Skidmark? None of it? He asks if she’s a friend of Ofelia’s, and she says, no. Victor comes in, and says they’re loading the trucks at the gate. He has her things. She tells him, wait, and takes her banjo out. She plays, and Daniel whistles. He says, The Traveling Wilburys, and she says, yeah. He taught her; she learned it from him. He says, it’s a beautiful song.

Alicia opens the car door. Janice says she’s not coming. Victor wants her to stay there and work in the laundry. He said he had his reasons. She tells Alicia, good luck, and Alicia says, her too. Victor asks for a minute, and Alicia says he has the key to the city. He says it will afford privacy. They almost died. Sanja did, so they could do what they did. It could have gone differently. He should have hesitated. She says because he didn’t put a target on their backs by killing the ranger? and he says he didn’t trust his instincts. He knew what needed to be done, and he couldn’t. Like he told her, she made him remember the person he is. He needs to do the things he needs to do now; for him, for her, for all of them. To do that, he has to forget that person, and he can’t with her by his side. She says she’s seen him do plenty, but he says he doesn’t want to drag her down. He needs to forget who he is, but she doesn’t. He gives her the St. Christopher’s medal, and says, whatever happens, don’t ever forget. He backs away, and the ranger says, let’s go. Alicia walks to the car, and looks back at Victor. She looks at the medal, and gets in the car. It drives away.

As he walks back, Victor wipes a tear away.

Daniel gets a donkey cart ready, and a ranger tells him, hurry up. He’s got to get going. Victor comes by, and says he felt sorry for Daniel because he didn’t remember, but now he envies Daniel. Victor keeps walking, and the ranger gets in the cart. Daniel whistles as he drives. He suddenly stops, and tells the ranger that he left his good scissors inside. The ranger says he’ll have to make due, but Daniel says it will take him twice as long to work with what he’s got. The ranger tells him, stay there, and goes back into the compound.

Daniel looks around, and gets down. He whistles, and hears a whistle back. He tells donkey, did you hear that? A zombie comes out of the woods, but before it gets to Daniel, someone stabs it in the head from behind. The person wears a cloak that hides their face, and Daniel says, much obliged, friend. If they are a friend. It’s Morgan, and Daniel says he knows who he is. Morgan says he could use Daniel’s help, and Daniel says he looks like he could use a haircut. Morgan says, it’s good to see him. Daniel says he thought Morgan was the him that she was looking for. They shake hands.

Next time, Morgan gets a shave, the end is the beginning, a lot of rats, and Morgan finally gets a better weapon.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Iris found out that Hope decided to sacrifice herself, and tried to get her to come back, but Hope refused. She said it had to be her. She’d found an office toward the front that had a siren. She was going to set it off and clear a path.

Silas got some backstory this time. We saw he’d been arrested, after it looked like he’d committed a murder, possibly his grandparents and/or parents. I have the feeling there’s something more to it though. In his flashbacks, we saw Silas and his uncle meeting with Felix, who said because Silas’s uncle had sponsored him, he was going to get a fresh start. His uncle told him, no matter what anyone said, he was a good kid. He later met Iris while he was cleaning her dad’s lab.

Silas told Elton that he didn’t have what it took to kill a zombie, but would hold the bags while Elton did the killing. Silas wandered off and had a zombie encounter, but when he was about to whack it out of existence with a giant wrench, he remembered whatever it was he’d done before, and hesitated. Iris came to his rescue, perpetuating the idea that he was scared.

Felix and Huck caught up to the group, and Iris explained what Hope had gone to do. Meanwhile, Hope went to the rooftop, but when she started to crank up the siren, the handle broke off. Felix couldn’t believe that Hope left a trail of breadcrumbs, but when he came to find her, she’d gone rogue and kamikaze. Iris said she didn’t think it was just about their dad any longer, and Silas said their mistakes shouldn’t have to follow them, but sometimes did. He thought Iris did something she felt bad about. On the side, he told Iris that he thought if he came with them, he’d be strong, but he wasn’t, and Iris confessed that she didn’t feel strong either. She didn’t care about her sisters mistakes, or Silas’s, and he said she should. She asked what he was afraid of, and he said, himself.

Iris radioed, saying she took the siren apart, but couldn’t put it back together. Iris told Hope that they could do this, like when they were kids. Iris said she’d get the siren going, but when they heard it, they had to haul ass. Elton didn’t understand the phrase haul ass – which I found hard to believe, no matter how sheltered he was – and Iris had to explain it meant run. Hope was able to hand crank the siren, which drew the zombies. The group managed to haul ass, and get out and past them.

Silas flashed back to reading Iris’s copy of The Tyger by William Blake (Tyger, Tyger, burning bright…), and heard her read it in his head as he walked. As Hope ran, zombies followed, but got stuck in some oil, which she set fire to. A zombie grabbed her, and Iris arrived in time to help, but ended up in trouble herself, and Hope returned the favor. Everyone reconvened outside the airport, but one of the humongous piles of tires started to fall against the fencing. Silas held it until the zombie arrival, and another moment while Elton ran in to grab his suitcase, then let it fall, blocking the zombies in. Then they all stood there, looking at the zombies, and I was like, why aren’t you hauling ass?

The kids all refused to go back. Iris said she and Hope wanted to keep their promise to their dad, and suggested he and Huck help them. They were going on with or without them. Huck told Felix there was no turning them around, so keeping them safe was all they could do. Hope and Iris sat on a dock, and Hope said she was tired of being scared. She told Iris about how she’d felt responsible for their mother’s death, and how the pregnant woman had shot their mother, then Iris shot her. She didn’t want what happened to change the way Iris saw her, and Iris said they were kids, the goddam sky was falling, and none of them were ready for it. Iris held Hope she cried, and told her that they’d get through it. They were going to have to.

Felix said Iris and Hope’s dad would want them to be safe, so he and Huck were going to make sure none of them got hurt. Iris asked if that meant he was coming with them, and he said they gave him no choice. Hope said she was sorry for dragging him in, but she was glad he was there. Hope asked why Elton had gone back into the devil’s a-hole for his luggage, and he said his mom’s manuscript was in it. She’d almost been done, and he wanted to finish it. Hope told him it was an a-hole, but badass move. Silas remembered his grandmother telling him that life was good. They made it good.

A recruit named Slade visited Elizabeth, wanting to know what happened that they killed an entire colony of people. She asked what he’d been told, and he said that they’d neutralized a threat, but with respect, it didn’t seem like a threat. She turned on all the appliances, so there was noise covering what she had to say. She told him they had energy, water, medicine, transportation, a council, school, culture, currency, agriculture, manufacturing, and law. They were the last hope. They inherited a population of over 200,000 to live and create the future. They might not have seemed like a threat, but they were going to be. Slade said he didn’t know if he believed that.

They ate soup in silence, and there was a knock at the door. Elizabeth told him to answer it, and he opened the door to a couple of soldiers. She told him that he was to be remanded to the health and welfare complex in a labor oriented capacity until he was ready to serve again. He said he didn’t think he’d ever be ready to serve again, and she said then he wouldn’t leave. He asked if she thought about how many died, and she said they were the lights of the world. He said that was a lie, and she told the soldiers to take him out. He said he knew what they did.

When he was gone, Elizabeth put all the appliances on again, rolled up her sleeves, and cried, dripping tears on her map.

Next time, Felix wonders how to keep everyone alive, and Hope says it’s about to get bad.

🧛🏽‍♀️ After Such a Dead Night…

It’s late, and I’m off like a dirty pair of underwear, as my dad would say. Until we reunite on Deck, stay safe, stay altruistic, and stay away from too much sugar. Especially if it’s covering zombies.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Finn sees Anna and says, that’s not the face of a woman who wants to be planning a wedding. She says she’s enjoying planning the wedding, but they have to discuss her. He asks if it has something to do with Jackie being in town. She says she’s interested in learning more about Jackie, but it’s about her sister. Apparently, Alex tried to have her killed.

In the doctor’s office, Peter says Maxie is quiet. She says he is too, and he asks if he’s less of a man for being worried as to why Dr. Navarro summoned them there to discuss the genetic testing. She says he’s more of a man for admitting it. She’s worried too. What if something is wrong? He tells her, they can’t think like that, but she says they are thinking like that. He suggests they think about how excited she is about Deception’s big pitch meeting today. She says she’s sure Lucy is excited to handle it on her own. She has a lot to prove, since she was the one who opened the door to Cyrus taking over the hospital. Britt comes in, and says, poor Mr. Renault. Everyone is always so down on him. But if he hadn’t taken over, she wouldn’t be there to cook the little bun in Maxie’s oven.

Chase meets Jackie at The Floating Rib. He apologizes for being late, and says it’s on him. She says she already slipped the bartender her credit card; mother’s prerogative. Since it’s on her, she gets to ask all the questions, starting with when does she get to meet Chase’s girlfriend?

Sasha looks like hell when she shows up for the pitch meeting. Lucy says she’s so late, but it doesn’t matter. The place looks gorgeous, and they’re going to knock this baby out of the park. She takes a good look at Sasha and asks, what happened? She looks like roadkill.

Brook sees Amy at the MetroCourt, and asks what she’s doing there. Amy says she wants to see the reaction when Brook plays their tracks. Brook says they’re her tracks, but Amy says they’re her vocals. Brook says, that’s right, which means Amy can’t be seen, only heard. Valentin pokes his head in and asks if Brook is ready.

Nina is sitting at Charlie’s, when Jax shows up. She asks if he’s stalking her and he says he is. Her receptionist said he could find her there. She says she’s doing more research on Phyllis Caulfield. He asks if she found anything, and she says she did. Out of the surprising number of Phyllis Caulfields out there, none of them are her Phyllis. You mean she can’t spring for a P.I. or even one of those online searches? He says they’ll keep on looking. Unless she’s giving up. She says, of course (🍷) not. Aside from going back to work at Crimson, she’s been thinking a lot about Nelle. She’s one of the reasons Nelle lost custody of Wiley.

Nikolas goes to the bar, and asks Julian what he hell is going on with Ava, and how does he keep her away from Ryan? Julian says he’s asking the wrong question, and Nikolas says, what’s the right one? Julian says, how Nikolas stops caring for his sister.

Ava goes to see Ryan. He looks unkempt, and asks what took her so long? He’s been waiting all morning. She says, filing for divorce doesn’t happen overnight, and he asks if she’s agreed to his terms. Is she divorcing Nikolas? She says she’s not divorcing Nikolas just because Ryan wants her to; she’s divorcing him because Ryan swore he’d give her the letter that incriminates her brother in the Wiley baby switcheroo. He says she’ll get it as soon as her marriage is null and void. Who’s her attorney? She says she has something better than a divorce. A counter offer she thinks he’ll find appealing.

Chase tells Jackie, Willow is busy, but she says she thought Willow wasn’t a teacher anymore and has a job at the hospital part-time. He says she’s doing it again; treating him like an interview subject. She says it’s a hard habit to kick, but she senses he’s hiding something. He says she’s right. He hasn’t told her everything. He and Willow broke up. She says she’s sorry. The way he talked about her, she sounded great. He says, she was; she is. That’s why he didn’t want to tell her they ended things. She says her and his dad don’t care who he’s with or if he’s with anyone, as long as he’s happy. He says he was happy, and she asks, what happened? He says he cheated on her.

Brook motions Amy away, and tells Valentin that he shouldn’t sneak up on people like that. He says he didn’t realize he was sneaking up on anybody. He asks if she’s ready for the big meeting, and she says, of course (🍷). He asks how the recording session went, and she says, why? Did someone tell him it didn’t go well? He says he’s just asking out of concern. He thought after her unfortunate confrontation with Nelle, work might be difficult. She says, confrontation? That bitch slashed her throat. But everything is fine.

Lucy fixes Sasha’s makeup, and says it’s the best she can do. Sasha says they can always postpone until she feels better, and Lucy says she doesn’t want to know what happened, but she does know there’s no postponing. The buyer is coming all the way from Ohio, and she’s sure they won’t be willing to plan a second trip. Sasha says, if anyone can persuade her, it’s Maxie. Where is she? Lucy says, she had a pressing appointment about her pregnancy. Sasha asks if Maxie is okay, and Lucy is sure it’s just routine. Somehow, babies come before cosmetics. Go figure. She promised Maxie the team wouldn’t let her down, right? Sasha says, right, and Brook and Valentin walk in. Lucy says, there’s her star, and asks what Valentin is doing there. He says he’s insuring a profitable return on his investment, and she tells him, then stay out of the way. She asks if Brook has the demo, and Brook hands it to Lucy, saying she thinks Lucy will be happy. Lucy is sure she’ll love it, but what’s important is that the buyer loves it. She asks if they’re ready to make the deal of a lifetime, and Brook says she forgot her pom poms, but she’s ready. A woman comes in, and asks if one of them is Miss Coe. Lucy says, that would be her. Lucy realizes she’s the buyer, Miss Madigan, and says she’s lovely and welcome and please call her Lucy. She introduces Brook and her co-investor spokesmodel Sasha. She asks if the woman is ready to experience Deception.

Nina tells Jax, there’s that look. The look that says he hates that she brought up Nelle again. He says he thought he was using his poker face, and she asks if he wins much. He says, good one, He knows Nelle got under her skin when she worked for Nina, which was her intention, but she was a pathological manipulator. Nina says the Nelle that she knew, also felt lost, sad, and unloved. So forgive her for having empathy.

Nikolas tells Julian, stop caring about Ava? That’s pretty callous, especially coming from her brother. Julian says he told her not to see Ryan, but she didn’t listen to him. Know why? Nikolas says, no, but he’s sure Julian will fill him in. Julian says because it matters to Nikolas, and Nikolas says he told her that he didn’t want her to get hurt, and it caused her to run straight to Pentenville. Julian says, give the man a prize. If Ava thinks it matters to Nikolas, she’ll self-destruct. Any relationship she’s gotten into, she’s gotten hurt. She won’t allow herself to get close to anyone again. It’s better if their marriage remains a business transaction. Ava feels safer that way.

Ryan says, good. She wants to play a game. They’ll set the stakes; winner take all. She says the truth is, she blackmailed Nikolas into marrying her. She wanted the money and what goes with being a Cassadine. He says, and they both lived happily ever after, but she says, no. The marriage is loveless and celibate. She’s sure he appreciates her desire for revenge. He says she knows he does. It sounds well and good for her, but what’s in it for him? She says, a cut of the money, of course (🍷), and he says clearly he has no use for it. She asks if making her happy still means something to him.

Finn asks Anna why he’s just hearing about this now. She says she just found out. She was supposed to meet Alex in Berlin, but Valentin sent someone in her place. It was an ambush. If she had gone, she would have been killed. Finn says he’s sorry, and she says, over the years, Alex has been creative in ways of taking her off the chess board, but she’s never been so brazen as to try to kill her. He asks what’s changed? and she says if she had to guess, it has something to do with the one thing that still connects them. He says, Peter.

Maxie says, Britt isn’t Dr. Navarro, and Britt says, she’s not? looking at her nametag. Peter says he heard she was back in town, and Britt says she’s not the hugging type, but he’s her brother, so… They hug, and he says he heard she had a new job. She says his sister is the big cheese at the hospital, and Maxie says she’s sure Britt has a million things to do. It’s fine if she has to go. Britt says, and leave her niece or nephew in the hands of a stranger? Maxie says because she made an effort with James? and Britt says circumstances prevented that, but she’s there to connect with him now. Just like she’s there to give this baby the family treatment. She says they’re there for genetic counseling, and Peter says he had some concerns. Britt says she bets he does, given their father’s background. Maxie asks what the test says. Is Peter carrying anything that could affect their child?

Jackie says, Chase cheated on Willow? Chase says he can’t begin to tell her how hard it is to tell her. She says she admits she’s… He says, disappointed? Ashamed? She says, surprised. He said he was happy. He says he was, but then things started going wrong. He wasn’t sure they were headed in the right direction, or that he could give Willow what she needed. He knows that’s no excuse, but one day something happened. He messed up big time, and when Willow found out, she wanted nothing to do with him. She asks if there’s no way he can go back and make it right, but he says he doesn’t think so. She says, why not? and he says she’s interviewing him again. She says, and he’s not answering. If she won’t forgive him, that’s that, but if there’s hope… He says, she’s moved on with someone else. Sort of. It’s complicated. She says he can work with that, but he says she’s not listening. He hurt Willow, more than he imagined he could. He said things he knew would cause her pain, things he wishes he could take back, but he can’t. She says, no one can take back words; take it from an expert. Words are weapons. They scar unless they heal, but they can heal if the person who said them apologizes. He did wrong, but if he shows up, and backs up his words with actions, maybe Willow will grant him the second chance he so clearly wants. He says she’s being real understanding to a guy who just admitted he’s a dirtbag. She says he’s her baby boy. She’ll always love him, even if he’s a dirtbag, but he’s not a dirtbag. He’s a person, and people make mistakes. He’s looking at the queen of them.

Finn says he knows Anna doesn’t care if Alex is Peter’s mother, and she says it doesn’t make her love him any less. But with Alex being armed with information she doesn’t have, Alex can hurt Peter. She suggested to Valentin that they play Alex’s game, but on their terms, and lure her to Port Charles. If they have her on their turf, they’ll have the advantage. They can bring her to justice, and get the answers she wants. He says, but in the meantime, she puts everyone in danger, including Violet. She says she knows it’s a risk, but she feels she’s better able to protect him if she knows when Alex is coming. He says he doesn’t need protecting, but she says it’s the only move she has. He suggests she break the hold Alex has on her by telling Peter the truth. That she doesn’t know for certain if she or Alex is his mother.

Britt says they can do an amnio and they’ll know more, but if Maxie and Peter are concerned the baby will inherit a disorder from them, there’s nothing in the report to suggest that. Maxie tells Peter, there’s nothing to worry about, and Britt says he was looking for something specific, wasn’t he? Huntington’s? He says she knew Faison had it? and she says, it probably played a big role in his decision to go looking for Nathan. He was running out time. Peter says he knows he doesn’t have the gene, and she says then there’s no possibility of the baby inheriting it from Faison. Peter says he’s worried about other possible complication. She says the testing indicated he has the markers for rheumatoid arthritis. He might want to discuss it with his primary physician. Maxie asks if that’s going to be Britt too, and Britt laughs, saying, that would be ridiculous. Maxie says she’s glad it’s over. The baby is making her hungry. Maybe they can grab a bite before she talks with Lucy and Sasha. Britt says she’d love that, and Maxie says she was talking to Peter. He says he doesn’t know if he can do this.

Sasha stumbles through describing the lipsticks, and can barely apply some. She says, sorry, and Miss Madigan asks if she’s all right. Lucy thinks it’s time they take a teeny weeny break. She has herbal tea and vegan desserts she made herself. Sasha excuses herself. Valentin introduces himself to Miss Madigan, and says he’s a major investor in Deception. He welcomes her, and thanks her for flying all this way to look at their product line. She asks what he wants to say, and he says he wouldn’t invest in the team if they weren’t bringing something fresh and new to the cosmetics market. She says, he’s a Cassadine. He can afford to dabble. As a buyer for one of the top cosmetic chains in the country, she doesn’t need to waste her time on an inferior presentation. He says his ex-wife shops at her store almost exclusively, and she says then he understands why she has to be choosy in what she buys. To satisfy his ex-wife and the millions of women like her. Brook asks Sasha what the hell is wrong with her, and Sasha says she asked Lucy if they could postpone, and Brook says, that couldn’t happen. This isn’t just a job; it’s an investment, a career, her future. And not just Sasha’s. Maxie and Lucy have an investment in it, so she cannot tank this deal.

Jax asks Nina to forgive him for not having empathy. She says, Nelle had a terrible childhood, and he asks if that’s Nelle’s defense. Her father didn’t love her and used her? Lots of people who have that same story turned out fine. The only thing Nelle cared about is revenge, and if she was still alive, it’s still all she’d care about. She says it sounds like he’s happy Nelle is dead, and he says he didn’t wish her dead, but he’s not going to pretend he’s unhappy that she’s gone.

Nikolas asks Julian if he’s got this straight. An imprisoned serial killer calls his wife and asks her to visit, and he’s supposed to pretend like he doesn’t care? Julian says, exactly. Ava won’t keep talking to Ryan if it doesn’t attract his attention. Martin comes in, and orders bourbon neat. He wonders if he can talk to Julian for a moment in private. Julian says whatever he has to say, he can say in front of Nikolas, his brother-in-law. Martin says, as he wishes. He’s not sure if Julian is aware, but Nelle’s body was released from the morgue today. Julian says, he cares because… Martin says, legally, he’s her next of kin, and responsible for the burial arrangements. How does he intend to handle her remains? Julian says he’ll give her the burial she deserves, an unmarked grave in Potter’s Field. The sooner she’s out of his life, the better.

Ryan tells Ava that he knows what he saw, and he saw a spark there. Ava says, of anger. She’s trying to get Nikolas to cheat on her. She wants him to be so driven by his sexual frustration that he’ll go elsewhere to have his needs met. When he does, the post-nup kicks in, and she gets it all. He says, sorry. Her plan’s not working. Because based on what he saw, Nikolas only has eyes for her. That doesn’t work for him.

Chase tells Jackie, he messed up Willow’s life so much, he would rather not have her in his life than risk hurting her again. Jackie says he didn’t stand a chance. He gets the martyr complex from his father’s side of the family. Don’t listen to his mother, who has decades of hard won experience and wisdom. He says, and modesty. She says she never claimed to be perfect. He says if she’s interested in putting that wisdom and experience to work, he has a job for her. She says she’s listening, and he asks if she can help him fix things between his dad and Finn.

Anna says she’s not telling Peter about Alex, and Finn asks, why not? She says Peter is happy with Maxie and James, and about to be a father. She’s not going to turn his world upside down. Finn asks if she doesn’t think the stability he’s gained will moderate his reaction to learning about Alex? She says, what if it doesn’t? Peter believes she’s his mother, and that belief has helped him move past his identity as a bad person. If she suddenly says Alex could be his mother, it leaves him susceptible to Alex’s manipulations, and she can’t have that, especially now that Alex is proving herself as twisted and lethal as Faison ever was.

Peter tells Maxie, he doesn’t know how to live without the fear of his father looming over them. Maxie says Faison isn’t in his life anymore. He hugs her, and thanks her for loving him and believing in him. She says she doesn’t love him as a favor. She loves him because when her life was shattering into a million pieces, he never left her side. He was patient and kind, and it gave her the room she needed to mourn Nathan’s death. He says he lied to her about Nathan and his father, and she says she punished him for that. She pushed him away and tried to hate him, but he never left. He never wanted her to be someone she wasn’t or feel something she didn’t feel. He helped mend the part of her that was broken after Nathan died. He was her friend and safe harbor; her lover, then her partner. He’s an uncle, then a father to James. She can’t imagine life without him. He says she doesn’t have to, as long as she’ll have him, he’ll be by her side. She says then marry her. Marry her, and they’ll have each other forever.

Peter asks if she just proposed to him. She says they talked about getting married, or talked around it. He says, call him crazy, but he imagined there would be flowers and candlelight, and someone, preferably him, getting down on one knee. She says she didn’t plan for him to deliver James, but it was an incredible, amazing day because her son was born. He asks if she wouldn’t have preferred something more normal or traditional, but she says picture perfect doesn’t make her happy either, but the thought of spending the rest of her life with him does. Britt sniffles, and grabs some tissues. She says, pretend she’s not there.

Sasha tells Miss Madigan that she’s sorry for what happened. If she’ll give her and Deception another chance, Sasha promises they’ll impress her. Brook says Sasha was nervous; who wouldn’t be? Lucy says, they’re so aware they’re competing with products from France and Italy, and the best all over America. Sasha says their team cares about their products. They work with the best chemists, and if they’re excited, they believe other women will be too. Brook says Lucy and Sasha have put their heart and soul into every lipstick and eyeshadow because they want their products to be perfect. Sasha says what Brook is kind enough not to say is she’s not the only person in the world to screw up, but Deception makes this imperfect woman look perfect. What they want to bring to women who shop at her stores is, perfection in an imperfect world. They all want a second chance, just like her.

Martin says if Julian just puts his signature on the documents, he’ll have Nelle’s body released from the morgue and delivered to the Potter’s Field. Will he be requesting a service; words spoken at the gravesite. Julian suggests Martin save him some time, and say the words for him – good riddance. Nina approaches, and says, even Nelle deserves better, but Julian says, not from him. She says she’ll do it. Release the body to her, and she’ll make sure Nelle gets a decent burial. Julian says Martin heard the lady. Martin suggests they speak away from the bar.

Ava says Ryan took her daughter from her. How can he say he loves her if he’s willing to take her brother too. He says he doesn’t want to take Julian from her. Her happiness is a point of pride with him. He’ll go to great extremes to secure it, but he’ll also go to great extremes to make sure she doesn’t find happiness with anyone else. She says she’s not happy with Nikolas. She just wants his money. She needs to be sure her brother is safe, so give her the letter. He says when he gets the signed divorce papers, she’ll get it. It’s been great playing with her. Always fun. He hangs up the phone, and leaves.

Miss Madigan says she has the feeling that pitch was unrehearsed, and Sasha says, it was, and that’s a good thing, because it came from the heart. Miss Madigan says it’s different from other meetings she’s attended. Lucy asks if a little novice bravado is that bad, and Miss Madigan says, unprofessional perhaps, but not without charm. She asks if Brook isn’t the singer, and Lucy says, she’s an amazing recording artist. She’s the powerful voice of Deception marketing. Miss Madigan asks if she has to wait, or can she hear Brook now? Lucy says, of course (🍷) she can. Brook made a special recording for her. Take a seat. Lucy wants to explain the whole idea because it’s like a synergy. You take the music and link it to their cosmetics. So you hear the song, and buy the product. Amy watches from around the corner, and smiles.

Nina thanks Martin for taking care of things, and he thanks her, saying he’ll be in touch. He leaves, and Jax says, clearly, Nina doesn’t think Nelle should be in an unmarked grave, but did she have to get all the bells and whistles? She says she doesn’t condone Nelle’s behavior. She left a wide swath of destruction, but she felt unloved and motherless. The least she can do is give Nelle a proper burial. He says, why her? and she says, why not her? No one else is going to do it. She can’t help but wonder if all the wrong Nelle did, didn’t come from an inner emptiness. He says, because she wasn’t loved? and Nina says, because she was desperate. And if she can understand anything, it’s desperation.

Britt tells Peter, don’t leave them waiting; answer the woman. Peter gets down on one knee, and tells Maxie, nothing in this world would make him happier than spending the rest of his life with her. Yes, with his whole heart, which he gives to her now, he’ll marry her. They kiss, and Britt dabs at her eyes.

Jackie tells Chase, he sure doesn’t know how to pick his battles. He says he tried to patch things up, but Finn won’t budge. He can’t get over the fact his dad… She says, married her. He says, it was a long time ago, and she says, he just lost his mother. He says, Finn wasn’t a child, and she says, neither is he. Wouldn’t he still be upset if something happened to her? Finn must have been so uncomfortable. His father married so quickly, and to someone basically his own age. Chase says, it’s past time Finn got over it. Violet wants to meet her grandfather and… She says, don’t say it, and he says, her grandmother. She says lunch is on him. He tells her, he’s just saying, the only thing keeping the family apart is Finn. They go way back. Can’t she help broker the peace? She says she can’t, and if he knew what was good for him, he’d stay out of it.

Lucy can’t get the recording to play, and says she doesn’t understand; this always works. Miss Madigan says, she’s sorry, but she’s spent as much time as she’s needed to. It was certainly a unique pitch. Perhaps they can revisit putting Deception in their stores at a later time. Lucy says, what was she thinking? She has the voice of Deception right there, and they can have a live performance. Who needs a recording when they have the artist in person? Valentin says, that’s an excellent idea.

Jax says he understand that Nina sees a bit of her own desperation in Nelle’s actions. He said it before; she and Nelle are nothing alike. He hopes when the burial is behind her, she can get Nelle out of her thoughts. Ava comes in, and asks what Nikolas is still doing there. He says he likes Julian’s whiskey selection. He tells her he’s on his way out, and she asks if she won’t see him later. He says he doesn’t know, and leaves. She asks Julian, what was that? and Julian says, hell if he knows. He’s her husband, at least for now. Did she make a deal with Ryan or not? She asks if he means did she get the letter from Ryan, and he says he has no desire to be murdered by Sonny. She says she’s figured out a way to get what they want without divorcing Nikolas.

Chase tells Jackie, that’s a hard pass. She was just selling him on lost causes when it comes to Willow. She says, there are lost causes and lost causes. Finn and his father’s beef is so old, it’s taken on a life of its own. It defies logic. He says that doesn’t mean she can’t help raise the white flag, and she says he can’t get involved in this war. If he does, he’s liable to take friendly fire.

Finn tells Anna that he has an emergency at the hospital; he’s sorry to run. She asks if they can talk later, and he says, sure. He says, nobody doubts her love for Peter, but she might want to ask herself if keeping this secret is in his best interest.

Britt thanks Peter and Maxie for letting her share their joyful moment. Congratulations. She says she’ll take a hint, and give them some privacy. She tells Peter, good job, and leaves. Peter guesses Maxie never expected an audience when they got engaged, but she says they had one when he found out he was a father, so… She says she never thought she’d be this happy again, and he says he never thought he’d be this happy ever. What do they do now? She says, plan the rest of their lives together.

Anna calls Peter, and leaves a message asking to see him. There’s something he needs to know.

Tomorrow, Sasha says message received, Maxie tells Mac about getting married, Portia says she’ll never be able to repay Peter, and Cyrus asks Jordan if she has what he asked for.

The Haves and The Have Nots

Derrick pulls into the Cryer driveway, and Benny meets the car. Derrick says, hey, and Benny says, don’t hey him. He has one question. He tells Derrick, get out of the truck, and Derrick does, asking, what’s up? Benny puts his hand on Derrick’s shoulder and asks, did Derrick rape his mother? Derrick says, Benny… and Benny says don’t say his damn name; answer the question. Derrick asks if Hanna told Benny that. He just wants Benny to know the whole truth. He was a drug addict then. He was robbing and stealing at Benny’s age. He’s not that man now. Benny asks if Derrick raped his mother, and Derrick says, he’s different now. Benny says he’s asking one more mf time, and Derrick says he wishes he could take it all back, and Benny says, so he did. Derrick says, Benny… and Benny says, don’t say his name. Did Derrick rape his mother? Derrick says, yes, and Benny punches him, knocking him down.

Benny says, you SOB, get up. Derrick gets up, but says he’s not going to fight Benny. Benny says Derrick did that to a helpless woman? Derrick says he wishes he could take it back, and Benny says what he can take is an ass whoopin’. Derrick tells him, do what he wants, and Benny asks, how could he do that? Derrick says he’s sorry. He’s not that man anymore. Benny says he’s a bitch ass coward, and Derrick says he was. He says he’s not going to fight Benny, and Benny tells him, get the hell out, and don’t let him catch Derrick around there again. Derrick says he works there, and Benny says he just got fired. Derrick says he’s got to make a living, and Benny asks if Derrick is trying to make him kill him. Get his ass out. Derrick wishes Hanna would just let him make it up to her, and Benny asks how he can make up rape? He’s an idiot; get out now. Benny opens the car door, and shoves Derrick in. Derrick asks Benny to tell his mother that he’s sorry, and Benny says, get TF out of here. Derrick backs out. Benny paces and gives Derrick the finger with both hands.

Jeffrey, Madison, and Colby have some laughs at a restaurant. Madison says he has to get back to work, but Colby says he has another 30 minutes. Madison says Colby has had his visit; it’s time to go. Colby says he’s taking Jeffrey out for drinks, but Madison says, that’s not happening. Colby asks what Jeffrey thinks, and Jeffrey says, as long as Madison is there. Colby says Madison has him trained. Why can’t he find a Jeffrey? Madison says because he’s been trying to find a bunch of Jeffreys at once. Colby asks if that’s a read, and says Madison finds this guy, and suddenly he’s a saint. Did he tell Jeffrey about his go-go dancing? Jeffrey says, no, he didn’t, and Colby says he’s not surprised. In college, Madison danced on the bar at a club. Madison says when Colby was slinging hash, he was making beaucoup bucks. Jeffrey says, he was a stripper? and Madison says, not stripper. Go-go dancer; there’s a difference. Colby says, it’s the same thing, and Jeffrey says, Madison was a cliché stripper – go-go dancer – paying his way through school. Madison says, it worked, and Colby asks how many guys he picked up. Madison says Colby is evil; he’s got to go. Colby says, dinner tonight? and Madison says it’s on him. Jeffrey tells Madison that he’ll see him later, and Colby says, ciao, bitch. Madison leaves, and Colby says he knows Madison really likes Jeffrey. He can tell. He’s seen Madison around people, and he likes Jeffrey. Don’t be afraid; he’s a good guy. He loves from his heart. Jeffrey says, is that right? and Colby asks if Jeffrey is scared. Jeffrey says, no. It’s just all new. Colby says Jeffrey should take Madison out to dinner; just them alone. Ask him about a few things. Jeffrey asks what else Colby talked to Madison about, and Colby says, just that he’s glad he walked in on Jeffrey naked. Madison hasn’t told him a lot about Jeffrey, but he did say everything changed when Jeffrey saw him naked. Madison tells him a lot, but not everything. He thinks Jeffrey should tell Madison how he feels. Do it tonight. Jeffrey asks, why? and Colby says, now do a lady a favor, and pay the bill. Jeffrey asks why he should pay, and Colby says Madison told him Jeffrey was rich. Jeffrey says, no; his dad is rich. Colby says, bill it to his dad then. Better yet, bill his mother. Jeffrey says, what? and Colby says he heard about her. He also heard Jeffrey got so drunk, he wanted to skinny-dip in her pool. Jeffrey says, just to piss her off. Colby says he hates homophobic a-holes like Jeffrey’s mother. He can’t stand that bitch for him. What’s her address? Jeffrey says he’s not thinking of going over there? and Colby says he is. Jeffrey says, the hell he is, but Colby says he’s going over there and getting in the pool buck-ass naked. He’s serious. He has friends who would go right now. Give him the bitch’s address. He’ll introduce her to some of the real gays. Jeffrey says, she’ll call the police, and Colby says, so? Some of the finest men are in jail. Let’s do it. He’ll call some of his wild side buddies, and go over there. Jeffrey says he doesn’t think… Colby says, drink, baby, and they clink glasses.

Samuel is outside Veronica’s house when Laura comes back. He says the outfit looks good on her, and she says the house looks good on them. She asks what he’s doing, and he says he was fixing the camera. He knows they need this money, but Derrick said they can’t trust Veronica; she’s trouble. Laura says they need this, and Veronica is nice to her; she’s mean to other people. He says he’s heading home after he fixes this. He says he loves her, and she says she loves him too. They kiss, and Veronica comes out. Laura says, sorry, and Veronica says, no. She loves love. Laura says Samuel is something special, and Veronica bets he is. Laura says she got it all done, and Veronica tells her, come in. She looks at Samuel as she closes the door.

Benny bangs on the Cryer’s door, and Hanna asks what he’s doing there; she told him to get away. He says he needs to talk to her, but she says she’s not talking to him. He says he saw Derrick. He was on his way there. Hanna says, what? What did Benny do? Benny says he killed Derrick’s ass, and threw him in the back of the truck. He’s kidding, but he beat Derrick’s bitch-ass down. Don’t act like she didn’t want him to do it. She says she didn’t, and Benny says Derrick rapes her, and she just wants to let it go? She says, it was a long time ago. Now stay out of her business. He asks why Derrick is still coming around, and she says, he works there for now. It’s not her house. He says, this is crazy. She needs to tell him something. She says she don’t need tell him nothing else. Stay out of it. He asks if she’s talking to this dude, and she says he knows she’s not. He says, then what’s she doing? She says, the man said he changed, and if God says someone can change, who is she not to believe him? She’s done with this. He says she should know he told Derrick, don’t bring his ass around there. She asks him, where’s Jim’s money? and he says, here we go with that. She tells him, go now, and he does.

A man comes to the door, and Hanna says he must be Al. He says she must be Hanna, and she lets him in. He says she has a beautiful house, and she thanks him, but says, it’s not hers. It belongs to the lady who made her executor. He says, the entire estate; she must trust Hanna. Hanna says she does, and shows him the documents. She says she’s been going over everything, and he asks to take a look, but she says she can’t let him. She doesn’t know him like that. He says if she doesn’t show him, how can he help. She tells him, make himself comfortable. She has a meeting tonight, and she wrote down some questions. She shows her list to him, and says she’s written definitions, but she can’t figure out things like marketing margins and trade analysis. He tells her, they’ll start with capital gains tax. It’s tax earned on gain. She writes that down, and he reminds her that she promised him coffee. As she pours him a cup, he explains, if he sells a house or stocks, the profit is called capital gain.

Oliver goes to Landon’s office, and Landon notices he’s happy. He asks, what’s going on? and Oliver asks if he’s not allowed to be happy? Landon makes a phone call to Amy, and thanks her, saying, it’s working great. He asks if she can get him on the morning shows and a prime time special. Oliver says he shouldn’t be doing this, and Landon tells Amy, it’s for him; it’s about Candace. He knows. Just get it booked, and he’ll get her there. He swears he will. Will she try? It’s not that difficult. She’s on the front page of every newspaper right now. He promises he’ll get her an interview with him for sure, but make it happen first. He hangs up, and Oliver says, this is going to blow up in his face. Landon says Oliver doesn’t get love and passion. Oliver asks what he’s talking about, and Landon says, how he feels about her. Oliver says, she’s a whore, and Landon says, who he loves. Oliver insists he doesn’t, but Landon insists he does. He asks if Olivier just hates the idea of her, and Oliver says he thinks Charles should be with Gretchen; she’s a nice girl. Landon says, another one born with a silver spoon in their mouth, like Oliver. Oliver says, it’s getting old; punishing him for being born with rich parents. Landon says Charles likes danger. He’s the President now, but he’s also human, and not allowed to be himself. Oliver asks if he’s going to let his kids get raised by a whore, and Landon says it doesn’t concern him. Oliver says, the American people concern him, but Landon says Oliver just wants Charles to look perfect.. Oliver says he wants him to look like the President, and Landon says, he should look like a man who’s happy. Oliver stammers, seeing Charles in the doorway, and Charles tells Oliver to finish. Landon says he doesn’t think Oliver meant… but Charles thinks he did. Oliver says, with all due respect, he thinks Charles could do better. Charles says he can do better. With someone else in Oliver’s job. If he ever hears Oliver speak about her, or him, in that manner again, he’s fired. Charles leaves, and Oliver says, you son of a bitch. Landon set him up. He knew Charles was there. Landon says Oliver should have quit while he was ahead. He’s lucky Charles didn’t fire his ass. Oliver says, keep it up, and Landon says he intends to.

Landon finds Charles in the living room, and says he’s so sorry. Charles asks who Oliver thinks he is, and Landon says, he’s got issues. His parents have a lot of money. Charles says, it will only get him so far. Does Landon think Oliver has a point? Landon says, Oliver has an opinion. Let him have it. Charles thanks Landon for what he said about him being happy, and Landon says he gets it. He’ll always have Charles’s back. Charles says he appreciates. He thinks he’ll take the kids for a walk, and Landon says he’ll let the nanny and the Secret Service know. It would make a great photo op. Charles says, not with the kids, but Landon says, just one; they’re so cute. He won’t even know the photographer is there, and it will go a long way with the press. Charles says, just get his kids.

Back at Madison’s apartment, Colby says, she did what? His mother? Jeffrey says, yes, and there’s a knock at the door. Colby says, hold that thought. He opens the door, and says, entrée bitches. He introduces Trevor and Terry, who says, Madison always something to drink. Colby gets some liquor, and Terry asks where Madison is. Colby says, at work, per usual. Terry says, Jeffrey is cute. He told Trevor that Madison was holed up. Trevor says, Madison does that when he has a new beau. He asks Jeffrey to them about himself, every detail. Colby says Jeffrey was telling him about his mother, and the way she treated him when he came out. Terry says, the world is changing, and Trevor says, not fast enough. He hates bitches like Jeffrey’s mother. Colby smacks Trevor’s knee, saying, that’s his mother. Didn’t Jeffrey tell him that he got mad and wanted to skinny-dip in her pool? Jeffrey says, that’s not a good idea, and Colby says, shots. Terry asks, how crazy is that bitch? and Colby says, insane. They need to piss in her pool. Jeffrey asks if he’s serious. They don’t know her. He was drinking when he said it. Colby tells him, then drink some more. Jeffrey says, it’s the worst idea, but Colby says he’s going through with it for real. Terry says Jeffrey doesn’t know Maddy’s friends. They’ll do it. Colby says, they’re here to make the evil bitch more evil, and Jeffrey says he appreciates their concern, but he doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Colby says, they’re doing it; drink. Terry says, look how sweet Jeffrey is, and Trevor says, Maddy did good with him. They leave, and Jeffrey drinks his shot down, and follows them.

At the Iron Bone, Vinny asks Sandy what he’s going to do. His girl is seeing another guy. Sandy says he didn’t hear that, and Vinny asks if he’s stupid. Sandy asks how Vinny knows what she’s doing, and Vinny says he’s got her covered. Sandy can be soft. Sandy says, enough with that. Vinny saying that about him is kind of funny. Vinny asks what he means, and Sandy says, the Cryer kid. Nothing happened to him. Vinny asks if Sandy is being disrespectful, and Sandy says, of course not. Vinny says, don’t forget about the money, and Sandy says Vinny reminds him every day. Vinny says, just so Sandy knows, he’s going to take care of Wyatt. Sandy says Wyatt is in the basement; go do it. Vinny says he’s talking crazy. Is he daring Vinny to do something? Sandy says he’s joking, and Vinny knocks him off his bar stool. He says the only joke in the family is Sandy. Sandy says he’s sorry, but Vinny says, get out.

Landon meets with a Secret Service agent, and asks what he’s got. The guy gives Landon a folder, and says, he’s from New Zealand, a mercenary who was a marine. Now he works with 12 guys out of Mexico. It was low-key and no one suspected what was going on. He’s keeping an eye on this woman. Landon looks at a picture of Veronica, and says, oh sh*t. The agent says, does he know her? and Landon says, everybody knows the devil. The agent says he’s watching her night and day. He was hired by Jim Cryer. Landon asks what this has to do with Oliver, and the guy says, he also runs cocaine. Landon’s boy has had a little problem since college. Landon says, this is getting good, and the guys says Oliver’s dad tried to keep it off the radar, but he found the records. Landon says, that little snotty nosed bastard. The agent says he can get more, but Landon says, this is fine. He has questions though. He looks at some pictures, and asks why Oliver is talking to him. The agent says, aside from the coke, he doesn’t know. Landon asks where the pictures were taken, and the agent says, a private airport. It’s Oliver’s dad’s plane, one of them. Oliver gets coke, and pays extremely well. Landon wonders why they’re on his dad’s plane, and the agent says he doesn’t know. Maybe daddy is doing anything to keep Oliver happy. Landon thanks him, and says he’s been very helpful. The agent asks what Landon is going to do, and Landon says, lay a slow trap and wait to pounce. The agent leaves, and Landon says, that little bastard  I got you now. This is going to be fun.

The boys go to Veronica’s pool, and Colby says, they’re doing this. Jeffrey doesn’t know, and Colby wonders how many times a day Jeffrey says that. Jeffrey says they don’t know her, but Colby says he’s not scared. Jeffrey says, that’s because he doesn’t know who he’s about to meet. Colby tells him to take his damn clothes off, and go skinny-dipping. Jeffrey doesn’t think it’s a good idea, but Colby says Jeffrey thought of it. Jeffrey says, he was drunk, and Colby says, they’re doing this, and takes his pants off. He asks what the others are waiting for, and Terry and Trevor get naked. Colby says if Jeffrey doesn’t get in, and confront his mom, they will. Inside, Veronica comes downstairs and has a drink. She remembers her wedding, and takes a trip down David Memory lane, flashing back to everything; his affair with Maggie, her retaliating with Benny, and them trying to kill each other a few times.

Colby tells Jeffrey, take his clothes off. Samuel comes out, and wraps up the hose. Colby asks, who is that? The hell with her, Colby wants to meet him. He tells Samuel, hi, and asks who he is. Samuel says he works for the homeowner, and Colby asks if he’s afraid to look at a naked man. Samuel says, no, and Colby says, look at him. Samuel asks, why? and Colby says if he has to answer, Samuel is too straight. Samuel says, he is, and Colby says he’s missing out. Samuel tells him, have a nice night, and Colby asks if he’s sure he doesn’t want to join the party. Samuel wonder whose party it is, and Colby says, her son. Tell the old bitch they’re in her pool. Samuel says, sure, and puts the hose aside. He knocks on the patio door, and them goes in. Colby says, come on, bitches, and they jump in, except for Jeffrey, who’s still fully clothed. Colby says they have to show a bitch some time.

Samuel tells Veronica, he finished the door, and had to fix a wire. There are also naked guys in her pool. She says, what? and goes outside. She asks, what’s going on? and Colby says, hey, bitch, welcome to the real world party. Her son is gay, they’re gay, there are gay people in the world; get used to it. She says she doesn’t give a damn about gay people in the world, but she does in her pool. Get out. Colby says, look at these men; the things they do to each other. Veronica says, stay there, and goes inside. Jeffrey tells them, get the hell out, and Veronica gets her gun.

Next time, Veronica kisses Samuel, Vinny tells his guys to make it look like an accident, Veronica wants to know what Samuel and Laura are up to, Wyatt begs Vinny not to do it, and Al suggests Hanna put all the money in her name.

🍵 Tea You Tomorrow…

Tuesdays are always tough, but at least they’re over with early in the week. I’ll see you for OC and tea tomorrow. Until then, stay safe, stay centered, and stay out of Veronica’s pool.

October 11, 2020 – Morgan Jones Is Dead, Beyond Isn’t So Easy & Hustling

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Fear the Walking Dead

We hear a voiceover of Morgan saying, if anyone is listening, what they’re doing isn’t just about doing right. They fought for the future for all of them. If you’re listening, just live.

Someone spray paints The End on a wall.

A dude in a cowboy hat sits near a fire in the woods, and adds tabaco sauce to some beans. (I find out later his name is Emile and he’s a bounty hunter, but they don’t really make this clear, since he never introduces himself.) He hears a noise, and asks if someone is there. A man runs out, and says, help, please. He falls. Emile goes over to him, and he says they’ve been after him for days. Emile asks, who? and he says he’s not really sure. Emile asks what his name is, and he says, Walter. Emile asks Walter if he’s hungry, and brings him by the fire. He tells Walter, eat. He’ll keep an open eye. Walter shoves beans in his mouth, and Emile says, beans were the first staple in the human diet. It’s only fitting we’d being enjoying them during our march toward the inevitable end. Walter wonders why they’re so good, and Emile motions him closer. He says, a chef never reveals his secrets. It’s his brother’s recipe, and his brother would kill him if he revealed it. Walter says, they’re mighty fine tasting beans. Emile’s dog barks, and Walter jumps up. Emile tells him, easy, and Walter says they’ve been on his ass since Laredo. Emile whacks Walter’s head off with a battle ax, and the dog goes over to lick it. Emile says, it’s tabasco. He picks a key up off the ground, puts Walter’s head in a picnic basket, and closes it. Walter’s name is written on the top.

Ginny calls on the radio, saying, you there? Emile asks, who wants to know? and she says she has a job for him. He says he has to wait for a delivery in Galveston, but she says he’ll burn lot of gas. She can make sure he’ll never want for it again. He asks who she’s looking for, and she says, Morgan Jones. He says, dead or alive? But she doesn’t know. He says she will soon, and he writes Morgan’s name on the lid of a box.

Morgan – who is nearly unrecognizable with a beard – wakes up in a car. A zombie is shuffling around the car, and someone shoots it. Morgan ducks, and some people ride past on horses. He hears zombie noises, and gets out of the car. A zombie comes by, and gets close, but keeps moving. He says he’s right there, and it turns. He whacks it with his staff – or as I like to call it, his pokey stick – but he’s hurt and a little weak. He whacks it some more, making contact with its head, but when the zombie falls, he falls on top of it.

Morgan climbs up a water tower, and almost falls. He pulls his hobo bag and stick up after he gets to the tower part. Inside is a fully furnished room, where he adds some supplies to his stash. He writes numbers on the inside flap on his bag, puts a couple bottles of water in it, and heads out.

He walks down an empty street, checking cars. He sees a gun in an overturned police car. He checks the clip. He looks inside a thrift store window. He sees zombies are headed his way, and says, sh*t. He runs to get his bag and pokey stick, but falls. He can’t get up, and they’re getting closer. They look at him, but keep going. A man appears, and kills the zombies. He’s about to whack Morgan, who says, wait. The man takes a closer look at Morgan, and says he’s never seen them walk away from a meal.

Inside, the man asks Morgan how long he’s looked like that, and Morgan says, about six weeks; he’s lost track of time. He tells the man that he needs to leave, but he says he was on tour in Afghanistan; he’s seen worse. Morgan says, the person who did this is still looking for him. He doesn’t want to get mixed up in this. The man says the smell is gangrene, and Morgan says he knows what’s going to happen, but the man says it doesn’t have to happen to him. The man says he has something, and digs in his bag. Morgan says he told him, he doesn’t want any… and the man pulls out a bag of pickle chips. He says he got them in a vending machine. His wife would kill him if she knew he was giving them away. Morgan looks like he needs a boost. Morgan says, save them for his wife, but the man puts them on the counter, and says if Morgan changes his mind, they’re right there. He introduces himself as Isaac, and Morgan says, no. He does not want to get to know him. Isaac says he gets it. He asks if the dead always ignore Morgan like they did? Isaac looks outside, and sees a dog. He tells Morgan, stay back. We see Emile in the street out front, and a zombie clamors at the window. Emile asks, who’s in there? Isaac comes to the door, and Emile asks if he’s Mr. Jones. Um… It might have been a good idea for Ginny to describe Morgan. Isaac says, no, and Emile tells him there’s no need to fear. All he wants is a little chat. He cuts an errant zombie’s head off with his battle ax. Morgan tells Isaac, don’t.

Isaac walks out, and Emile is gutting the zombie. Isaac says he doesn’t want trouble, and Emile says he won’t have any. Isaac says he doesn’t know Mr. Jones, and Emile wonders what Rufus is smelling. He takes a paper out of his bag with a (bad) drawing of Morgan, and asks if Isaac has seen him. Isaac says, dead or alive, and Emile says, if he’s alive, he’s not alone. He’s lost a lot of blood. Isaac asks why he’s looking for Morgan, and Emile says he’s asking the questions. Isaac says he hasn’t seen Morgan, and Emile says the social contract goes both ways. If Isaac helps with his problem, Emile will help Isaac with his. Isaac asks what makes Emile think he has a problem? and Emile says, we all have problems. He flicks the paper, and asks if Isaac knows him. Isaac says he doesn’t think so. Sorry. He doesn’t think he can help. Rufus barks, and scratches at the door, and Emile wonders why his dog is so intrigued. Is anyone else in there with him? Isaac says, nope, and Emile takes a closer look at Isaac. He says, my, my, my. Isaac sure is sweating. They should go inside and cool down. Isaac opens the door, and Rufus barks at a blanket on the floor. Emile says the blanket holds the scent of the man he’s been looking for. Isaac tells Emile that he said he hasn’t seen him. He was attacked by the dead, and holed up there. The ones he didn’t kill wandered off. Emile uses his ax to chop open a chifforobe, but it’s empty. He busts open another one, and Isaac says he’s only going to attract more of them. The guy he’s looking for is probably right down the road.

Emile knocks on the window, and some zombies toddle up. He says if the man he’s looking for is where Isaac says he is, he’ll uphold his end of the social contract. He leaves, and Isaac goes out the back door. He fends off a few zombies, stabbing them in the head, and sees Morgan passed out.

Isaac tends to Morgan’s wound, and says, it’s not okay. Morgan sees they’re back at the tower, and says Isaac can’t be in there. He has to go. Isaac says the bullet is close to Morgan’s pulmonary artery. If it’s fragmented, and Morgan moves the wrong way, he could die. He asks if Morgan stitched himself up. No doctor would have left the bullet. Morgan asks how he found the tower, and Isaac says Morgan’s bag had the coordinates written in it; he took a chance. Morgan asks, why? and Isaac says he needs Morgan’s help. His wife is 8 months pregnant, and having contractions. If the baby comes early, she might need oxygen. Their place was surrounded by zombies, and there are too many to push through. He went looking for a gun, and that’s when he and Morgan met. Morgan asks if he has ammo, since it’s getting harder to come by, and Isaac shows him a handful of bullets. Morgan takes out the gun he found, and says, take it and leave. Isaac loads the gun, but says, it won’t work. It will just draw more of them. Morgan could walk them past the rotters, and they won’t even know they’re there. Morgan says he can’t help them, but Isaac says, sure he can. Morgan gets up, and Isaac asks, what’s wrong? Morgan points to his pokey stick, and asks how Isaac knew his name. Isaac says he saw Morgan’s tape at a truck stop. He wasn’t sure it was Morgan when he saw him outside the thrift shop. Morgan says he doesn’t do that anymore, and Isaac asks, why? Morgan says, he just doesn’t. He needs Isaac to leave him be. Isaac cocks the gun, and says, sorry. He’s running out of time, and doesn’t have a lot of options. Morgan says he’s not going, and suddenly, the tower rocks. A truck pulls away, and the tower falls.

Morgan opens his eyes to Rufus. Emile says Isaac lied to him. Isaac is busy whacking zombies, and Morgan calls him over. Morgan picks up the gun, and aims it at Emile. Emile calmly kills a zombie, and says Morgan is already dead; they can smell it. Isaac tells Morgan, do it, and Morgan shoots Emile in the arm. Morgan and Isaac jet, or at least go as fast as they can, and jump into Emile’s truck. Emile walks toward them like Michael Meyers, at a slow, steady pace, and Isaac speeds off.

When they’re far enough away, Isaac stops and they get out. Isaac says they’ll have to take the long way around, but Morgan says he’s going back to the tower to salvage what’s left. Isaac tells him to forget that place. It’s done. Why risk going back? Morgan says it’s the only reason he’s still breathing. It was his secret hideout. Isaac says, not that secret. Morgan says if that a-hole had been killed or not, he’d be dead soon anyway. The tower isn’t for him. It’s for… Isaac says, who? and Morgan says Isaac asked if he’d stitched himself up; he didn’t. Someone else did. Isaac asks, who? and Morgan says, he was shot, and barely hanging on. The walkers were about to tear him apart. He heard gunshots, and the walkers dropped, but he passed out. He woke up patched up. Whoever did it, left him this note: You don’t know me, but I heard your message. You need to do the same. You still have things left to do. Isaac says, the message doesn’t matter. Whoever he’s been fixing the place up for, he’s guessing Morgan thought it would keep them safe. It’s not going to do that now; it probably never would have. Where he’s going, it is safe. Whoever Morgan was setting the tower up for will be safe there. Morgan asks why Isaac would do that for him? and Isaac says if Morgan takes care of his family, he’ll take care of Morgan’s. Morgan nods, and says, let’s go. Isaac gets his bag from the truck, and they start walking.

Morgan tells Isaac, her name is Grace. He found out she was pregnant the night he was shot. Isaac asks, what happened to everybody else? Ginny split them up, didn’t she? Morgan points his pokey stick at Isaac, and says there’s something Isaac isn’t telling him. Isaac knew his name; now he knows Ginny’s. Isaac says he gets what Morgan is thinking, and what he’s thinking is bullsh*t. Morgan says Isaac is leading him back to her, but Isaac asks why he’d do that. He ran from her too. He used to be one of her rangers. He should have told Morgan, but he didn’t think he could trust him. Morgan puts his pokey stick down, and Isaac says he wasn’t lying; he did see Morgan on the tape when he was on patrol. They were giving away what Ginny was charging people for. When his wife got pregnant, they realized their kid would pay the price for what Ginny was doing. What Morgan was trying to do seemed better, so he and his wife ran, and decided to do the same. Morgan asks where they’re going, and Isaac says someplace he thinks that can happen. He knows it can, and he can be a part of it. He says Morgan has got to let him take the bullet out. Morgan says, too late, but Isaac says, not true. Why is Morgan leaving it in there? Does he think he deserves it? Morgan keeps walking.

They stand at the top of a hill, and Isaac says, there it is. It looks like a reservoir, and there are zombies wandering all over. Isaac says he tried to lead the rotters away, but it keeps drawing them back. He gives Morgan his bag, and says, give these to his wife; her name is Rachel. Morgan says, this place isn’t safe. What if Ginny finds it? Isaac says, she won’t. She never found it when he was one of her rangers, and even if she does, no one will get past the concrete wall. He tells Morgan to get a move on, and Morgan asks what he’s going to do. Isaac says, there’s another way in through the mountains. It will take a couple of days, and he hopes he gets there before the baby does. Morgan gives him the gun, and says, be careful. Isaac thanks him, and watches as the zombies shuffle along. Morgan gets closer, but they ignore him for the most part. He falls, and I say, oh sh*t. He leans on his pokey stick, and cries out. This time the zombies notice, but Isaac shoots one, and then another. He tells Morgan that he’s right there, and Morgan picks up his staff. Morgan goes nuts on the zombies, spearing one through the mouth, and another in the forehead, and seems to be getting into it. Isaac uses a knife he’s carrying, and smashes some in the head with rocks. All of the zombies have been taken care of, and I think, that was quick.

It’s quiet now. Isaac and Morgan head toward the building, and Morgan gives Isaac the bag. He says he thinks it’s better coming from Isaac. They’re standing in an area that has sparse vegetation, and Morgan asks, where’s the lake? Isaac says he’s standing in it. There used to be water filling the valley as far as you could see, but when the dam gave way, all this was covered. On the map, all you see is a lake. Morgan says, that’s why she’ll never find it. They go inside, and Isaac hugs Rachel. He says he got there as fast as he could, and she asks if he’s okay. He says he is, knowing that she’s okay. She tells him, the contractions are getting closer, and he says he’s here now. He introduces Morgan, and says Morgan helped him get back. He asks how far apart the contractions are, and she says, a few minutes. Get ready. The baby is coming.

It’s dark out. Isaac and Morgan are outside, and Isaac says, it won’t be much longer now. His grandpa used to take him fishing, and tell him crazy stories about how the town was flooded to make a lake. He thought his grandpa was pulling his leg. He came there looking for his grandpa’s fishing cabin, and found this instead. It was there all along, but the world had to end for them to find it. The soil is rich from the silt, and they can rebuild. Morgan says, no, no, no. He survived something most people don’t. He knew what he had to do, and thought the water tower was it, but maybe he was wrong. Maybe it was about getting Isaac back. They hear shots and a dog bark. Isaac tells Rachel, they aren’t there. It’s not the first time Ginny used him to find someone. Morgan tells Isaac, find his people and bring them there. Take care of his family. Isaac says he can’t let it end like this, but Morgan says Emile only fights because people pay him. He has something to fight for. He goes outside.

Emile says, even he can smell Morgan. Morgan can’t fight him. Morgan says, Ginny can have it, as long as he leaves the others alone. Emile says, it’s not a negotiation. Morgan says he’s trying to make it easy; make it count for something. Emile says he makes a good point, and Morgan throws his pokey stick down, and falls to his knees. Emile walks closer, and puts down his gun. He tells Morgan, he won’t even feel this, and moves toward him with the ax. Isaac comes up behind Emile, but Emile realizes, and knocks him down. Emile is about to kill Morgan, but Morgan fights back with his pokey stick. He  tells Isaac, get up and get inside. He can’t die. He needs to reassemble Morgan’s people. Isaac says he can’t. He lifts his shirt, and shows Morgan a bite wound. He says he got bit coming in before; when he went looking for a gun. It’s not about him. Morgan says he got Isaac there, but can’t be who Isaac needs him to be. Isaac says, he changed; so can Morgan. Emile wakes up, and knocks Isaac down again. Morgan and Emile fight, and Emile grabs Morgan’s pokey stick from him. He grips Morgan’s shoulder, putting pressure on Morgan’s wound. I tell Morgan, that guy has to die. Morgan lies on the ground, and Emile picks up his ax. As he’s about to bring the blade down, Morgan blocks it with his pokey stick. He looks at the note on the ground near him, and knocks Emile down, stabbing him with the pokey end of the stick. Alrighty then. Emile says Morgan couldn’t do it then, and he won’t do it now. Morgan takes this challenge, picks up the ax, and does it. He chops Emile’s head off.

I think, some man’s best friend, since Rufus has been nowhere to be seen during this whole kerfuffle. Morgan tells Isaac, that message. Know what he told them? He told them to live, just live. We hear a baby cry, and Morgan tells Isaac, go meet his kid. Isaac says he thinks Morgan is right, but he’s just going to rest right there.

Rufus wakes Morgan, licking his face. Morgan’s shoulder is bandaged, and he sees the bullet sitting in a bloody dish. Rachel says, Isaac insisted on taking it out. He didn’t think Morgan would mind. She’s holding the baby, and Morgan asks, boy or girl? She says, girl. They have a daughter. Morgan smiles, and she says they named her Morgan. Aww. She says, it was Isaac’s idea. Morgan asks where Isaac is. He should thank him. Rachel looks sad and starts to cry. He nods.

Rachel brings Morgan to a pile of rocks, and Morgan says he wouldn’t be there if wasn’t for Isaac. He sees Emile’s head, mouth moving, and sees the key. A zombie toddles out, and Morgan takes his staff out of Emile’s body. As he walks toward the zombie, he sees the ax, and drops the staff. He whacks the top of the zombie’s head off.

A small caravan of trucks stops before a line of bodies across the road. Men with guns get out, and one of them calls to Ginny. She gets out, and sees the box that says Morgan Jones on it. She lifts the lid, and it’s Emile’s head. I laaaugh, and she laughs. At least she gets irony. She suddenly stops laughing, and looks around. She says, if you’re there, if you can hear me. I want you to listen and listen good. She thought she needed him dead for this to work, but she doesn’t. She just needed everyone to think he is, which they will. If he tries the tiniest bit to convince anyone otherwise, she’ll add them to this pile – one by one. Does he copy? The radio crackles, and Morgan says, Morgan Jones is dead. She’s dealing with somebody else now.

Morgan watches through binoculars. He’s all spiffed up, waring a cowboy hat, and sitting on a horse.

A guy continues to spray paint, The End is the… He stops to stab a zombie in the head. Another guy joins him, and says, they should have been here by now. The painter says, there’s got to be more. They can’t stick around. Other guy says, they need that key. They’ll have to wait somewhere else. The painter finishes, and it says, The End is the Beginning. On the side of a blimp.

This season, Ginny says they’re all after the same thing, she wants to make sure people feel safe; Ginny says an example needs to be made; Morgan says, they’ll find everybody; things blow up; and we learn more about the key.

World Beyond

As the four friends dive deeper into zombie country, they learn it’s not going to be like they thought it was. Five minutes out of the gate, Iris has to kill her first zombie, and flashes back to Felix’s training sessions. He explains, if getting them in the brain doesn’t work, sweep its legs. You don’t want to tire yourself out. It’s all about avoidance; keeping a safe distance between life and death. He tells them that they’ll be scared the first time they face one, and should be. They should be scared every time they’re outside the walls.

As soon as Felix read the note Iris left, he and Huck took off after the group. They managed to practice avoidance, but professed their love to one another.

A lot of the show is done with flashbacks, and we saw some of Elton’s backstory. Before the apocalypse, Elton’s father had been out of work. While using Elton’s computer to look for jobs, he saw Elton’s emails, and confronted Elton about being gay. Elton admitted he was, and his father kicked him out of the house, telling him not to come back. He said he no longer knew Elton, and had no son. Elton talked to Hope about what was going on, and said they’d already been killing themselves, directly and indirectly. Nature had just made a shortcut. His lifespan prediction for them was another 15 years.

The kids saw a column of smoke in the distance, and called it the blaze of glory. It was an ongoing fire, the source of which seemed to be unknown, but the speculation was that it was a huge pile of tires. Elton said it had been attracting zombies for years, and the louder it gets, the more zombies that come. Iris thought they could get through it, which didn’t thrill Hope, who asked why they couldn’t just go around. Iris said if they did, the river would take them 60 miles out of their way. Again, I didn’t understand why they didn’t drive. Even if none of them has learned to drive, I can’t believe between these four overachievers, they couldn’t figure it out. Hope left a large empty can of sliced peaches in the middle of the street when they left. Which surprisingly, no one noticed, and I was pretty sure it was to mark their trail. Felix ended up finding the peach can, and told Huck that it had been stolen from his apartment.

Felix also got some backstory. We saw him running through stopped cars on the highway, general panic surrounding him, and military planes flying overhead. He ran to his parents’ house, wanting to help them, but they told him to get lost and turned out the lights. While he and Huck were stopped for the night, he went back to the house, where his parents were now zombies, to kill them.

Elton talked about wanting to track the migration of the zombies. As well as being a Eugene Junior, I noticed some Al in him too, as he seems to be the historian of the group, keeping records and taking pictures along the way. He also waxed philosophical a few times. Silas froze, not being able to make his first kill, and the kids holed up for the night in a house where they found a Monopoly game. The coolest thing in this episode was when the group heard a sound coming from a pretty decrepit zombie sitting on a bench. Bees had taken up residence inside, and came pouring out.

I have to mention that the girls’ makeup is perfect, always.

The group was heading for an airfield that would give them a clear path, but had to get through the zombies and fire to get there. They decided to first go through a parking lot using the buses and trucks as cover. As they got closer to the fire, the smoke impaired their vision, and there was zero sunlight. They managed to get through, but realized there was a lot more they were going to have to deal with, and it wasn’t going to be the cakewalk they thought. The takeaway point was that nothing is ever as easy as you think it’s going to be. And these kids were way off.

Next time, we see more flashbacks about Felix’s parents, and Hope decides to provide a distraction so the others can get through.

🤹🏽‍♀️ So Many Balls in the Air Already…

It’s barely Monday, and already I’m scrambling. Sunday nights have now become a juggling act TV-wise. Halloween will soon be here, and I’m still in flux over how that’s going to go pandemically, and how much candy to get. While in theory, having two pounds of leftover candy sounds great, in practice, I don’t want to gain ten pounds before Thanksgiving. I also still have to finish this week’s article for https://mupoentertainment.com/theresa-krakauskas/. So until we sail the Spanish seas on Deck, stay safe, stay pragmatic, and stay taking Morgan’s advice to just live.

October 6, 2020 – Ava Visits Ryan, a New Jackie, Benny Runs Into Derrick & a Farewell

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Carly apologizes to Michael and Willow for being late, but Michael says it’s understandable with everything she’s had to deal with. Willow says they know she’s there to make sure Wiley is okay, and Carly says, at a time like this, family is all that matters.

Obrecht asks Dr. Kirk (who apparently has no last name, but I did find out he’s in The Madalorian) if the patient is on the way. Kirk says, Dante is on his way to Port Charles, and is ready to do what needs to be done. She says, as the son goes, so goes the mutter.

Anna and Finn sit in the MetroCourt dining room, planning their wedding. Finn says, 230 people? She’s got be kidding. She says she wishes she was. She doesn’t see how their small, simple ceremony blossomed into the royal wedding. He says they’ll have to look for people to cut, but she says she has to expand the list by two more; his father and stepmother.

On the phone, Lulu asks if they can go on record with their concerns. If others speak up, someone can call attention to what Cyrus is doing. She says, hello? and realizes they hung up. She says, it’s like pulling teeth to get any traction for this story. A woman comes in, and says, it sounds like she came to the right place. Lulu thanks her for coming, and says she’s heard so much about her.

Olivia leaves a message for Ned, saying, it’s getting late; call her. Monica comes in, and asks how Dante is. Olivia says, long story. She’s been trying to get Ned for hours, and she’s getting worried.

At Alexis’s place, clothes are everywhere all over the living room. Alexis stands there in a robe, and says, why did she do that? She flashes back to ordering a double vodka, and Ned comes downstairs looking puny. He asks if she has any aspirin for what feels like the worst hangover of his life. She says, he is real. She was hoping it was a bad dream. He says, try nightmare.

Brook sits at Charlie’s, and Julian says, hi, stranger. He hasn’t seen her in a while; how has she been? She says, getting better, no thanks to his wife. He does remember that Nelle slashed her throat. He says he had no idea how desperate and violent Nelle was. He asks if she knows Nelle’s body was found. (In case you didn’t know, it was on the Pennsylvania side of the river. 🍷) That must give her some comfort. Nelle will never hurt her again. She says, or him, and he asks what she’s talking about. She says she knows he didn’t marry Nelle for her money or looks. What did she have on him? Did she know about his involvement with Brad and the baby switch? He tells her not to stick her nose in where it doesn’t belong. Nikolas comes in, and asks if that’s any way to talk to a lady.

Ryan tells Ava, say something. She knows how he longs to hear her velvety tones in his ear every night. It’s been almost a year. She doesn’t write; she doesn’t call. People will start to think maybe she doesn’t care. She says he made it sound urgent. Here she is. Tell her what he wants. He says, what he always wants. Only what’s best for her.

Ned tells Alexis, he knows he drank too much scotch. Was she…? She says she wasn’t, and he says he never should have taken advantage of her grief over Neil. She thinks he should worry less about her, and more about the wife he cheated on.

Olivia tells Monica, she doesn’t know where Ned is, but he’s made himself scarce. Monica says he hasn’t answered his phone, and Olivia says, no. She’s imagining horrible reasons why, but he’s probably just ignoring her. Monica is puzzled, and Olivia says they live in the same house. Monica must have noticed she and Ned have been scratchy with each other. Running off with Robert didn’t help, when Ned needed her to help with Brook. But when she needed help with Dante, Ned was too busy with the business. They’re not able to take care of themselves and each other at the same time.

Anna says Finn should be building a bridge between him and his father. It’s a great way to start. Finn wonders if that’s the criteria for the guest list. Maybe they should invite everyone they need to build bridges with. They can start with Alex.

Obrecht tells Kirk, she’s going to expose Henrik, and tear down the family root and branches. They’re all responsible for her false imprisonment. He says she never told him the family was to be targeted, and she asks if he would have been less inclined to help. He says, perhaps, and she says, then she told him what he needed to know. He doesn’t think the family should pay, since they’re innocent, and she says, it’s true, Peter alone framed her, but Anna’s support gave his accusations weight. Otherwise, the Bureau wouldn’t have been so quick to believe Peter’s lies. She must bring the mother and son to justice for her freedom. He says, Peter, yes, but he draws the line at anyone else.

Julian tells Brook, despite what she thinks, he has her back. As her friend, he advises her to be careful about the company she keeps. He leaves, and Brook tells Nikolas, not many people can say this, but sometimes it’s nice when a real life prince shows up. He says if she needs anything to help her recover, let him know. She says, there are some things even a prince can’t fix. He says he knows she doesn’t want to move back home, but does she need a place to stay? She says she’s in agreement with Julian on one point; Windymere creeps her out. She has a place to crash, but she’s looking for a place of her own. Nikolas says a place his own sounds nice, and she says, that’s a funny thing for a newlywed to say.

Ryan says he knows Ava is a busy women. He almost called her on Kiki’s birthday, but he didn’t know if she’d take his call. She slams her hand against the glass, and says, keep her daughter’s name out of his filthy mouth. The guard asks if everything is okay, and Ryan says it is. He tells Ava, take it easy. Even though he’s been behind bars, he still follows her journey. He knows about her wedding at Windymere to a Cassadine. He’s disappointed in her. She says Nikolas is ten times the man Ryan will ever be. He has two hands, and knows how to use them. Ryan laughs, and says, yeah, right. They both know when she’s in Nikolas’s arms and the earth moves, she’s thinking of him. She says if that’s what he needs to keep him warm in his cell, whatever. Cut to the chase. Unlike him, she doesn’t have all night. Ryan says he’s come into some information he finds would be of great interest to her and someone she loves.

Alexis says she’s supposed to be Olivia’s friend, but Ned is the only one who exchanged vows with her. Olivia loves him. He wonders, if that’s true, why she would sneak off with another man when he needed her. Alexis says he is not using that to justify what he did. The truth is, he doesn’t know what Olivia and Robert were doing in Monte Carlo, and owes it to himself to get answers.

Lulu tells the woman, it’s an honor. She’s been a fan of her reporting for a long time. She can’t begin to say how grateful she is. The woman says she made the sale. Lulu’s story pitch caught her attention; a drug trafficker swooping in to take over a local hospital. She commends Peter for turning the newspaper around from gossip to real news. He’s done remarkable things. Lulu says Peter had an editorial emergency, and can’t be there; he’s sorry. The woman says, she’s not. It’s best to leave the actual reporting to the journalists. They’ve got to protect their bylines. Lulu says the woman’s work at The Globe is legendary. When she asked her father… The woman says she’s sure Luke had something to say about her, and Lulu says, nothing on record. She knows they go back a long way. The woman says, longer than she remembers.

Anna asks if Finn is actually comparing his father to her sister. Alex is guilty of treason, while his father is guilty of an abbreviated mourning period. He says, sorry; it was a cheap shot. Anna has been working hard to keep Alex from blowing up her and Peter’s lives. She says Alex was obviously baiting her with Berlin. It wouldn’t have been right to play into her hands, but working on it. In the meantime, the wedding needs more work. Violet suggested Maxie as an additional bridesmaid, and Finn says he was thinking of asking Peter to be a groomsman, but didn’t want to step on any toes. She says, there’s plenty of time for that on the dance floor. Why would she object? He says he thought she should be in on the decision. The more she lets Peter into her life, the more negative reactions she could get from some of the people around her. She sees Robert headed their way, and says, case in point.

Amy comes into Charlie’s and sits with Brook. She says she was hoping to run in to a friend. Does Brook have a minute? It won’t take long. She was at the bar down the block, and was hit on by a total sleaze. She’s in need of a friend to vent. Nikolas says he’ll let them reminisce. Brook says he doesn’t have to go, but he’s already gone.

Julian looks at Nelle’s letter again, and Nikolas asks if the Board of Health is shutting him down. Julian says he’s busy. What does Nikolas want? He says he wants his wife. Where is she?

Ava says Ryan lives in prison. The notion that he has something of value to give her is absurd. She picks up her purse, and he asks if she doesn’t want to know which person he’s referring to. She puts her purse down, and asks, who is it? What does he know? He says, her brother and the baby he knew belonged to Michael.

Michael tells Carly that he asked Willow if she would consider adopting Wiley. Carly asks if she is, and Willow says she’s considering it. Michael says he’d spoken to Diane, and Nelle still had legal rights as a mother, but now that she’s gone, it’s just about Wiley and what’s best for him. Michael’s phone rings, and he says he has to take it. It’s the surgeon doing Wiley’s next heart surgery. Carly says it will give her and Willow a chance to talk. Michael leaves, and Carly asks if Willow is just thinking about adopting Wiley, or has she made up her mind?

Obrecht says Kirk agreed to help secure her release and clear her name, but he says, taking anyone else down is going too far. She says Anna was vindictive, and sabotaged any attempt to exonerate her. Anna has convinced herself that her son is a good man. Obrecht doubts the WSB would have agreed without Anna’s support. She began her career as a double agent. Kirk says, that was a lifetime ago. Anna has a clean slate; she’s changed her ways. Obrecht says, has she? Anna thinks nothing of protecting her murderous son, who framed her, and turned Britt against her. Her own daughter. Peter absconded with her, as he did Franco, Nina, and Maxie. Her sweet grandson James is growing up without his oma. She’s been wrongfully condemned and incarcerated, without her good name, and without an ounce of love. She cries a little, and Kirk says, that’s not true. She does have love – his. She says, then help her. Help her defeat Anna and her son. Then she’ll know how devoted he is.

Robert sits with Anna, and she says she was getting worried. Holly’s memorial was a few days ago. He says, Holly survived the accident. She was being held captive, but he got there too late to do anything, and she’s gone now for real. Anna says she doesn’t understand; that’s awful. Finn says he’s sorry, and Robert says, at least he got closure, and the ones who did it are in custody. He owes it to Anna. She set his head on straight so he could see through the fog. Anna says he would have done the same for her, and he says he would. In fact, he’s returning the favor. She has to see Peter for who he really is.

Amy says she’s sorry Brook didn’t perform at the Nurses Ball, but she got there early, and heard Brook rehearse. She was magnificent. What Nelle did, talk about cutting her act short. Sorry. Brook says, don’t worry about it, and Amy says, so give her the scoop. When are they going to hear Brook’s glorious voice again?

Nikolas tells Julian, he was dealing with his accountant, and by the time he got home, Ava was gone. He was hoping she came to see Julian. Julian says, the last time he saw Ava was at Windymere. Nikolas says, if Ava isn’t with him, she must be at Pentenville.

Ava says Ryan is making stuff up now. Her brother found out about the baby swap when everyone else did; when Brad confessed. Ryan says life in there is tedious, but the only thing he looks forward to more than her visits is mail call. She says he gets mail? He says he does. Not a lot, but in the last batch was a lovely handwritten letter from a friend, Nelle. Or should he refer to her by her married name, Mrs. Julian Jerome? The letter explains that Julian knew Wiley was really her and Michael’s child, and he didn’t tell anyone to save his own hide. Nelle said if anything happened to her, Julian was the likely culprit. Ava says, it’s simply not true. Julian had nothing to do with that roadkill’s death. Ryan says he couldn’t care less either way, but Nelle made it clear the contents of her letter should be relayed to Sonny. It seems she got the final revenge against Ava’s ne’er do well brother. Unless Ava thinks she can make him a better offer.

Ned tells Alexis, until he speaks to Olivia, keep it between them. She says she’s not going to be sharing. What happened tonight is… Ned says, tonight, and she says, yes. He says, excellent, and leaves.

Willow tells Carly, she married Michael so he’d have a better chance of defeating Nelle. Now that Nelle is gone, she’s no longer a threat. Carly says Michael asked her to make the situation permanent. If she adopts Wiley, and makes it official that Wiley is her son, that means she and Michael will be tied together forever. Carly doesn’t see a problem, but of course (🍷) the problem is Willow and Michael.

The woman tells Lulu, Port Charles holds a lot of memories for her, but she’s never been one for nostalgia. It’s a filter, an objectivity destroyer, and can make a good reporter quickly disappear. She suggests they get down to business, and Lulu asks if the woman has had a chance to look at what she sent. The woman says she has. Port Charles is up in arms. It’s heavy on theory, but light on everything else. All she found was a philanthropist. Why is she bothered by a man using his money to save a cherished hospital? Lulu says, the philanthropy is a front. Cyrus is a criminal. The woman says, the Police Commissioner publicly exonerated him, and Lulu says, just because he was framed, doesn’t mean he’s innocent. He’s planning something big, and most definitely illegal, and he’s using the hospital to do it. The woman asks if she has evidence, or just a hunch. Lulu says she has her father’s instincts. The woman knew him well. Isn’t that enough?

Anna says she’s sorry for Robert’s loss, but he’s not allowed to use his grief to harass Peter. Robert says, one thing he’s realized is, our time on earth is not guaranteed. We need to look out for the people we care about. He says he’s not mincing words now, and she wonders if he’s subtly been mincing words all this time. He says, Peter/Henrick is a real threat to their lives. Anna says she’s not listening to this argument again. She gets a call from Valentin, and steps away. Robert tells Finn that Anna isn’t listening to him; Finn has to get through. Peter August is as phony as his name. Henrik is a threat. Finn says, enough.

Brook tells Amy, according to her doctors, there’s no timetable. Any says it’s not their job to predict the future, and they all say that. She asks if Brook remembers when they were in chorus. Maybe next year, they can reunite at the Nurses Ball, and harmonize on You’re Not Alone. She starts to sing.

Ava wonders what Ryan is asking her, and he says if she wants his silence and to protect her brother, it comes at a price. What to ask for… What pressure… He’s got it. He thinks a weekly visit will do the trick. She says, no, but he says she’ll leave him no choice but to send the letter to Sonny. She says, all right; she’ll do it. They have a deal. He says she can’t show up and despise him. She has to share her innermost thoughts, hopes, and dreams, like she did when they would lie together in each other’s arms. What does she say? Is she with him? Nikolas walks in, and asks what she’s doing with this lunatic.

Willow tells Carly, when she and Michael agreed to marry, they knew it was just as friends. Carly asks if that’s changed, and Willow says, there have been moments. Maybe there will be more someday. Carly says, because of Wiley, and Willow says, and because of the kind of man Michael is. Carly tells her, relax. Don’t worry about creating the picture perfect family. Let their love for Wiley guide the way, and they’ll know what the right thing to do is. Michael comes in, and says they have an appointment for a consultation on Wiley’s surgery. He asks if everything is okay.

Ned rolls in the door, and Olivia throws her arms around him. She says he smells like a distillery. He asks how long she’s been home, and she asks if he didn’t get her messages. Where has he been?

Finn says, it never gets old. He gives Robert credit. He never misses an opportunity to hammer Anna about Peter.  Robert says, he’s not even Anna’s son, and he’s worked his way into the lives of Robin, Noah, and Emma. And he got Maxie pregnant. Finn says, they couldn’t be happier, and Robert says, what about Violet? After Finn and Anna are married, Peter will be part of the package. Is Finn going to keep looking the other way to keep Anna happy?

On the phone, Anna says, if she wants to protect Peter and Maxie, she has to get Alex to play the game, not the other way around. Is he in?… Good. She thinks they may be able to breathe easier once her sister is dealt with.

Kirk says he’s loved Obrecht since he first laid eyes on her in Steinmaur. She says she remembers the cultured masculinity he exuded when he stole into her cell. He was a ray of sunlight in her bleak and grey existence. When he arranged for his personal care and her transfer, how could she not be grateful? He says he returns her feelings, and she says she wishes it could be different, but if they act on their feelings, the scandal alone could destroy him. Violating the doctor/patient relationship will leave him disgraced, if not destroy his career. It’s regrettable they can’t truly be together until she’s free, and Anna and Peter are vanquished. Kirk says he’ll do what must be done.

Sitting at the bar, Amy hums. Brook says, only she is alone. Julian comes by, and asks if she’s had any luck finding an apartment. She asks if he remembers the night they met. He thought she was a hooker. He says he was working on a business deal, and she told him to think about changing the parameters of the deal. He asks her, what’s up? and she says she thinks she should take her own advice. She looks at Amy. Are they going to go Singing in the Rain with this? Is Amy going to be the voice behind the woman?

Ava doesn’t know why Nikolas barged in, but he interrupted a conversation. He says he doesn’t care; he’s getting her out. She says, that’s not how marriage works. This has nothing to do with him. Nikolas says when his wife is face to face with a sadistic killer, it has everything to do with him. Ryan knocks on the glass with the phone. He talks into the phone, telling Ava, maybe he was wrong. A husband with passion and feeling. Is it possible? Could it be true Ava is in love with Nikolas too?

Brook approaches Amy, who says she got the feeling Brook wanted to be alone. Brook says she couldn’t be more wrong. She’s thinking there is something Amy could do for her.

Alexis takes a bottle of vodka out of a paper bag. She pours a good three fingers into a glass, and drinks.

Ned tells Olivia, he wasn’t the one who left the country. She vanished off the radar. She says she left him messages; didn’t he get them? He says all he knows is that she left her phone at a hotel in Monte Carlo. Olivia says, so the hotel reached out? So he knows. He says he knows she and Robert slept together.

Carly tells Michael, it’s getting late, and he and Willow have a lot to discuss. She’ll let Willow fill him in, while she takes a peek at Wiley. She promises not to wake him up. She leaves, and Michael asks if Willow is okay. She says his mom was great. She helped Willow see more clearly. Michael asks, in what way? and she says, Wiley needs both of them. So she’s in. Let’s make this happen. She’s decided to adopt Wiley.

Finn tells Robert, don’t worry about his daughter. He’ll never let anything happen to her. He has to trust Anna to do what’s best for his family. Hasn’t she proven that time and again? Robert says, she has, but he knows better than Finn that she has a blind spot. Finn says they do agree on one thing – life is short. He sees that every day. Robert may want to ask himself, would Holly want him to waste what’s left by dying on this hill?

Kirk says he needs to pack, and Obrecht says, the weather is notoriously unpredictable there this time of year. He says he doesn’t want to leave, but she says, it’s the only way. Dante needs guidance, and his strong hand will stay the task. He says, that’s what the drugs he’s prescribed are for, but she says she knows better than he does, it’s best not to leave the strong-willed to their own devices. He asks what she’ll do while he’s gone, and she says, count the days until she proves her innocence and Peter’s guilt. She says she’ll miss him, and he says, his Liesl. He leaves, and she says, schwein.

The woman says Lulu’s pitch was impressive enough to convince her to stay and help with the story. She has some other things to attend to in Port Charles, and it will give  them time to nose around together, and see if they can turn up some real evidence against Cyrus. Lulu apologizes, saying she has to take off. She has a deadline on another story she has to get to. The woman says, there’s nothing more stressful than a missed deadline. As they walk to the elevator, Lulu says call if she needs a tour guide. You’ll find the city has changed quite a bit, Miss Templeton. The woman says she’ll find her way around, and call her… Robert says, Jackie?  Needless to say, or maybe not, she’s no longer being played by Demi Moore (see below).

Ava tells Ryan, her personal life is off limits, but he disagrees. He says, going forward, nothing is off limits. Nikolas tells her, let’s go, but she says there’s bullet proof glass between them. Just give her another minute. He says, as she wishes, and leaves. Ryan says, true love. That changes things. Ava says she agreed to visit. What more does he want? He says, spending time together is meaningless if she’s legally and emotionally tied to someone else. If she wants the letter, and to spare her brother’s life, she’s going to divorce her husband.

Just a thought, but Ava could easily say she’s trying to trick Nikolas out of his money, and I’m sure Ryan would get that on a sociopathic mercenary level.

Tomorrow, Olivia asks if Ned doesn’t know her any better than that, Amy says it’s going to be so fun, Michael tells Willow there are some issues they need to clarify, and Jason says it shouldn’t be an issue for Britt.

🕶 Jackie, Oh…

Back in the day, she was Jenny on AMC.

The Haves and The Have Nots

Veronica tells Benny, calm down. He asks if she’s telling him the truth, and she asks when he’s known Veronica to lie, talking weirdly about herself in the third person. He asks, who is he? and she tells him, come over. He says he’s not playing games, and she asks when he’s known Veronica to play games. She says, Derrick has a record as long as Benny’s penis. She looked at his records, and it all started to make sense; she put it together. Come to her house. He asks why everything has to be such an effort with her, and she says she’s the queen; she requires maintenance. He tells her give him the address, but she says then she’ll have to get him out of jail. Come over. He says he’s on the way, and she tells him, stay angry. It turns her on so much.

Benny tells the realtor, Rianna (the old Valerie Spencer from General Hospital!) that he has to go. He asks if she’s sure she’s okay, and she asks if he found anything. He says he did, but he has to come back. Good thing, since her phone keeps ringing. She says, it’s all good, and asks if he’s okay. He says, something just came up, and she says she understands. Call her when he’s ready. He says he’ll call tomorrow, and leaves. She tosses her phone on the desk.

Kathryn tells Chief Shepherd that she’s going to go nuts in her cell. He says he hopes not, and she asks why the hell she’s been in there all day, with no phone call to her attorney, and no update on her son? He says, as soon as he gets one, he’ll let her know. She says, if he thinks he’s going to deliver her son to the Malones… and Shepherd says, no way; he escaped. Kathryn asks, how? and he says Wyatt is a clever kid. Kathryn says, not that clever, and Shepherd says, he got away. She says she needs to talk to her husband, and he says he’ll get the call in right now. She thanks him, and then says, he’s toying with her, isn’t he? He says, lady, you’re in jail. She says she may be in jail, but she’s still… He finishes, Kathryn Cryer. He knows. He says, hey everybody, what’s her name? and all the inmates say, Kathryn Cryer, so unenthusiastically, I laugh. Kathryn says this is some kind joke to him, and he says, no. This is serious. As serious as murdering the DA. She says she didn’t do that, and he says, no one in there did. She insists she didn’t, and he says, okay, who did? She tells him, Veronica Harrington, and he asks if she has proof. She says, let her call her lawyer, and she’ll give him all the proof he needs. He says, nice try, and she says, so that’s it? He tells her, George says she’s the only one, but Kathryn says she’s telling the truth. Shepherd says, the process takes a long time. She could tell him something. Or she might be in there a month. The wheel of court justice moves slowly. Brace herself. She says she wants to call her lawyer, and he says she should have given Mama Rose the money. He walks away, and she says, if anything happens to her son…

Veronica’s doorbell  rings, and she calls to Laura. Realizing she sent Laura on an errand, she looks out. She goes onto the second floor deck, and tells Samuel, there’s someone at her door, and asks if he can get it. Her cameras are broken. He tells her that he’ll get it, and she goes to her closet and gets her gun. Samuel opens the door to Celine, who says she’s there to see Veronica. Veronica tells her to come in, and thanks Samuel. He goes back to work, and Veronica says she wasn’t expecting Celine. Celine says she got an eviction notice, and her rent needs to be paid in three days. Veronica asks, how much? and Celine says, $1200. Veronica says, she doesn’t have $1200? and Celine says she wouldn’t be there if she did. Veronica says she’s not paying it for Celine, but Celine says she didn’t come there to ask for money. Veronica says she doesn’t do sexual favors for clients – female clients – either. Celine looks unamused, and Veronica tells her, calm down. She’ll go to the judge and get it. Celine says, she can do that? and she says she’s Veronica Harrington. Celine says another $200 bill is also due, and Veronica says, she’s pathetic. Celine says she doesn’t need to be insulted, and Veronica says, then bye. She’s not wasting her time going before a judge to get $1500. She’s going to get $50K. He left Celine broke and destitute. She can’t pay for her kids. Veronica will get it for her. She tells Celine to go home and wait for her phone call. She’ll have the money within a day. She adds that she was going to tell Celine to try and look bad for the judge, but she has it covered. But don’t look this bad. It looks like they’re trying too hard. Really Celine just looks normal. It’s not like she showed up in rags. Celine leaves, and Veronica goes into the kitchen. She finds Sam getting some water, and she asks how handy he is with electronics. He says, pretty handy, and she says, there’s a camera out front; can he fix it? He says he can, but has a buddy who’s good at it. She tells him to try, and if he can’t, call his buddy. He says he’ll go around outside, since he’s covered in sweat, but she says she loves it. She knows he loves his wife, he doesn’t cheat, and he’s happily married. She’s not flirting, but she loves covered in sweat. She grabs his hand, pulls him toward the living room, and giggles.

At the Cryer house, Hanna goes over the books with a calculator. Her phone rings, and it’s the accountant Al. She says she has questions, maybe too many. She’s been going over the paperwork, and doing online research, but oh my God. He says he gets it, and she asks if it’s possible for them to meet. He says he’s taking a break soon. She can come by his office or he’ll come to her. She asks if he really doesn’t mind coming there. She has all the documents there. He tells her to text him the address, and he’ll text her when he’s on his way. She asks how much he charges, and he tells her, no charge. He’s helping an old pastor. She asks if he goes to her church, and he says he does. She’s sorry they haven’t met, and he says he’s in accounting; he’s more comfortable around spreadsheets. She asks again how much he charges, and he tells her, some coffee. She says, that she can do, and he says he’ll see her soon.

Benny knocks on Veronica’s door. When she answers, he says, where is it? She asks if she gets a hello, and he says, hello; where is it? She says, no kiss? and he says he’s not playing games. She says, Veronica doesn’t play games, talking that weird way again. He tells her to give him what she’s got, and she asks what he’s giving her. This is a negotiation. He says the dude raped his mother, and she says she doesn’t care nothing about his momma. He tells her, go to hell. Just give him the damn information. She says she changed her mind. She doesn’t like way he’s talking to her. Benny heads for the door, but she says he’ll be back. He says, don’t count on it, and she says, what Derrick did to his mother was not good; it was very bad. He says, dammit, and she hands him the folder. He looks through it, and she says she found the police report Hanna filed. His mother was very pretty, but the years haven’t been kind. She’s aged so much, it looks like she’s been using her face for feet. Veronica laughs, and Benny asks if she thinks it’s funny, but she says, no; she doesn’t. I do. This is the second time Veronica has thrown massive shade at a woman who looks just fine. Benny asks where the address is, and Veronica says Derrick was never arrested for the rape. There was an armed robbery two blocks away, and he was charged with that. Why doesn’t Benny ask his mammy? Benny tells her not to call his mother that, and Veronica says Hanna is the one who’s the maid. He asks if he can have the address, and she says he hasn’t done anything for her yet. She knows he misses it. He laughs, and says she’s sick. She says he can’t take a mammy joke? He walks out, and she says, his mama is so stupid, she thought a quarterback was a refund. BA-DUM-CHH! She says, he’ll be back.

Tanner sits with Justin at Justin’s apartment. He says he’s sorry he hit Justin, but Justin says, it’s okay. Tanner says Justin is pretty banged up, and Justin says, it’s a long story. It’s going to make Tanner mad. Tanner ask if he hit Justin, nodding at the pictures of Jeffrey, but Justin says, no. Tanner says, then who? and Justin says he pissed off the wrong people. Tanner tells Justin to promise he’s not doing this anymore, and Justin does. He says he has to thank Tanner. Tanner always kept him out of trouble. He’s a great big brother. Tanner says, thanks. He’ll check on Justin tomorrow. Justin says he’s going to fix this. Don’t worry. He’s going to fix all of this. Tanner says he knows. He’s got faith in Justin. He leaves, and Justin looks at pictures of Jeffrey on the wall.

David visits Jim at the hospital, and tells Jim that he went by the bar. The car was there, but Wyatt was nowhere to be found. Maybe he dumped the car. Jim says, or maybe he sold it. Was there anybody there to talk to him? David says, that young one, Sandy, and Jim says, he’s like Mitch, but David says, Mitch tends to be one of the cooler Malones. Jim isn’t so sure, and David asks, what’s wrong? Jim says, the car was moved. It’s in a parking lot near the loft. David says, he’ll go see what he can find. If it moves again, let him know. Jim says he hates to ask, but when David is out, could he check on that old battleax of his, and see how Kathryn is doing? David says he’ll see what he can find out, and Jim says he owes David one. David says, more than one. The doctor comes in, and reminds David that he should get a physical. David promises he will, and leaves. The doctor asks how Jim is feeling, and Jim says, like hell. When is he getting out? The doctor says he just said he felt like hell, but Jim says he’d rather feel like hell in his own house, and in his own bed. The doctor understands, and Jim asks when he can leave. The doctor says he wishes he had a magic pill, and Jim says he does; painkillers. Load him up and send him on his way. The doctor tells Jim to be careful, and Jim asks if the doctor is really talking to him about addiction. The doctor says he can get Wyatt help, and Jim says, when he gets his hands on Wyatt, he might take him up on it. They shake hands, and the doctor tells Jim, get some sleep. Jim says that’s all he’s doing. Phone calls and sleep is all he’s got.

Jeffrey asks if Madison is ready to go, and they head for the elevator. Madison asks why Jeffrey is smiling, and Jeffrey says, no reason. He laughs, and Madison says he thinks he knows why. Because they had a great night. Jeffrey says, yes, and Madison says, and a great morning. Jeffrey says, yes, and because when he got out of the shower, there was a naked man in Madison’s living room. Madison says he wasn’t naked, and Jeffrey says he’s not talking about Madison. Madison asks who he’s talking about, and the elevator doors open. Colby comes out, and Madison says, hi. Was Colby in his apartment? Colby says, yes, and Madison says, was he naked? Colby says, uh-huh, and Madison tells him, they talked about that. Colby says Madison said if he had someone, Colby should stop. Madison says, he has someone, and Colby tells him, Jeffrey said they’re just friends. Madison says then he and Jeffrey have a lot to talk about, over a nice lunch, that Colby’s paying for. Colby says, why him? and Madison says because he’s embarrassed. Colby says, don’t be. Jeffrey is beautiful. He’s even better naked. Jeffrey says he was getting in the shower, and Colby says, he was getting in. Is Madison jealous? Madison tells Jeffrey not to let Colby corrupt him. Colby says, so Jeffrey is new to the scene. That’s why Madison is so protective. He asks how much Jeffrey knows about Madison, and Jeffrey says, not much. Colby says, Madison is on the hot seat, and he knows how much Madison likes it. Madison rapidly hits the elevator button, and Jeffrey says, pressing on it doesn’t make it come any faster, but Colby says, it usually does. BA-DUM-CHH! Everyone thinks they’re funny tonight.

At the Iron Bone, Mitch wonders why it’s so quiet. Only Sandy is there, and Mitch asks, where’s the family? Sandy thinks Mitch should go back where he came from, and Mitch asks what the hell has gotten into him? Sandy says Mitch wouldn’t understand; he wasn’t in the basement. Mitch says he should kick Sandy’s ass for acting like a fool, and Sandy says, go to hell. Mitch asks, what’s the problem? and Sandy says, because of Mitch, he’s in this mess. Mitch asks what he’s talking about, and Sandy says Mitch isn’t in the family. After Vinnie, it’s supposed to be Mitch, but now it’s him. Mitch asks, what’s the problem? Sandy doesn’t like the life? Sandy says he doesn’t like killing, and Mitch says, then get out of the family. Sandy asks, then who comes next? Mitch says Sandy makes him sick, and Sandy says Mitch makes him sick, and that bitch Rianna. She’s trying to hide from him. Mitch says, let the broad go, but Sandy says he’s not letting anything go. Mitch says, he’s setting himself up for more heartbreak if he continues being a pain in the ass. Benny comes in, and Sandy says, you’ve got to be kidding. Benny says he’s got to talk to Mitch. Mitch lied to him. Sandy asks if Benny has a problem, and Mitch tells Sandy, sit down and shut up. Benny asks why Mitch lied, and Mitch asks what he’s talking about. Benny tells him, he said that dude didn’t do it. Derrick. Why did he lie? Mitch says he had to. Benny needs to lay off. Benny asks why Mitch is protecting Derrick, and Mitch says he’s not. He’s trying to keep Benny out of trouble. Benny is going to do something stupid. Benny says give him the address, but Mitch says he doesn’t have it. Benny says he can get it, and Mitch asks what Benny is going to do. Benny says Mitch is still lying; fine. He walks out, and Mitch says, good luck with that. He’s been bailing Benny’s ass out for years. Sandy starts to say something, and Mitch says he told Sandy, shut up. Sandy says Mitch better handle that quick; the Blacks coming in… Mitch says he’s going to bust Sandy’s ass if he doesn’t shut up. Lay off him if he can’t handle the family. Sandy says Mitch does what he wants around there. Why is he there? Mitch says he likes to come in, say hi, and get a drink. Sandy says he’s not part of the family, and Mitch says he does what he wants. Sandy laughs, and Mitch says don’t come crying to him when he can’t handle bloodshed. Sandy can’t believe he’s related to Mitch; he’s much better looking. Mitch says, no one knows who Sandy’s real father is. He’s nothing but a bitch either. Mitch walks out.

Charles talks to his kids about living in the Whitehouse. His little girl says she likes living in their house, but Charles says they’ll love it there. There are wonderful things they can do. Play hide and seek in the Rose Garden, the Easter egg roll… Landon says their father will pardon a turkey. She asks if Landon will be there, and Charles says he will. Landon thanks him, and takes the children to wherever they’re stashed when not on screen. He comes back, and tells Charles, so adorable. Charles says he knows, and thanks Landon for helping him out. He hopes Landon finds the right guy. He knows Landon cares, and he appreciates it. Landon says Charles is worth it. Charles says, in fairness to them both, Landon isn’t still hoping they’ll be together one day? Landon asks if he can speak off the record, and says just because he’s gay doesn’t mean he’s pining for Charles. Charles says he’s asking because he has feelings for Landon, but not those kind of feelings. It’s hard for him to trust, but Landon is gaining it every day. Landon knows it’s hard, and says he’d never betray Charles. Charles says, Judas said the same thing to Jesus. Landon says he’s not Judas, and Charles says, no; he’s not. He appreciates Landon’s help with the kids. They’re like him, and don’t trust easily. They’re so innocent and pure; they know a good person. Landon thanks him, and says he tries to be. Charles says they’ve come a long way. Landon wonders if he can ask one more thing off the record. When Charles says things like this, it makes him feel special. Charles says, he is. As long as he knows it means two different things. Landon says he’s never had a guy friend. He knows his position, but he feels like a friend. Charles says as long as Landon knows his position, he’ll remain a friend.

Landon goes over paperwork, and Oliver pops into his office. Oliver says, Landon is something, and Landon says, he is. Oliver tells Landon, be careful. He’s attracted to Charles, and it can be a problem. Landon says, he’s a professional, unlike Oliver. He says, she loves Charles, and Oliver says, by the way, she was hanging out at a Savannah hotel with a member of a mob family. Landon asks if Oliver has been tracking her, but Oliver says, the press has. He knows a reporter who saw the Malone guy go into her hotel. Landon says Oliver should stay out of it, and Oliver says, it didn’t take her long to get over him, but Landon says, she’s not. Oliver says, whatever, and Landon suggests Oliver find a hole and crawl into it. Oliver says, she also went to the drug store to buy a few things. Landon says he doesn’t care, and Oliver starts to leave. Landon tells him, get his ass back there. He says Oliver’s sources are all fools, and Oliver says, are they? Landon says, yes. They know nothing, and they’re spinning him. Now go home. Get laid. Has that ever happened? He calls Oliver an a-hole, and says, they didn’t do the news story, so pay up. Oliver says they didn’t bet, and Landon says Oliver probably couldn’t afford it anyway. Oliver leaves, and Landon says, so annoying. He hates that little bastard.

Benny bangs on the Cryer’s door, and frantically rings the bell. Hanna answers, and asks what he’s doing there. He says Veronica told him that Derrick raped her. She showed him the police report. Give him Derrick’s address. She says she’s not doing that, and he shouldn’t be there. He says he’s not leaving until he gets the address, and she says if he stays, she’s calling the police. He asks if she’s going to let that dude get away with it, but she says she’s not letting anybody get away with nothing. He tells her, give him the address now, and she says, give that man back his money. Benny says she’s not going to close the door in his face, but she does.

Benny sees a car coming up the driveway. It’s Derrick. Benny walks up to the car, and slams his hand on the hood.

Next time, Benny asks Derrick if he raped Hanna, Oliver says things are going to blow up in Landon’s face (and it’s not part of a joke), Colby says Veronica is going to meet some of the real gays, Jeffrey tells Colby to get out of his mother’s pool, and Veronica is pushed too far.

😴 Sorry, What…?

At least the dawn comes later now, so I can kid myself that I went to bed earlier. Wait. Technically, it is early, so I did. As it inches toward Halloween, I vow not to give up without a fight, even if I have to eat all the candy myself. Until next we meet, stay safe, stay dynamic, and stay away from imprisoned lunatics. Or any lunatics for that matter.

October 4, 2020 – Beta’s Final Battle, a World Beyond Dead & Burn It

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

The Walking Dead

When we last left, Beta was leading the zombies to the hospital where everyone was holed up, and they chanted, we are the world, but not like in the Coke commercial. Eugene, Ezekiel, and Yumiko had gone off on a mission to meet Eugene’s radio buddy Stephanie. Along the way, the picked up Princess. We’re told, The Whisperer War: The Final Showdown starts now.

Inside, everyone runs around gathering supplies and weapons. Gabriel slams into Dianne. He peeks outside and sees the zombie hoard gathering. He tells the kids they’re safe, but they’re worried about the zombies having lots more than they have. He waggles his fingers, and says, see his fingers? They’re not much to look at, but together, they make a mighty weapon. That’s who they are. Alexandria, Hilltop, Oceanside, what’s left of the Kingdom… He shows them his thumb, and says, and the others. We see Carol, Daryl, and Kelly run inside a building, killing zombies on the way.  Gabriel says, those who might find help – we see Yumiko, Princess, Eugene, and Ezekiel – or come here and help – we see Virgil (who trapped Michonne on an island a while ago) – together we’ll fight – we see Aaron and Alden in the woods – and that’s how we’ll survive… We see Maggie in the woods. She finds a buried tackle box with a letter inside. The letter tells her to come back. Rick is gone. Jesus, Enid, and Tara are all dead. Gabriel says, together.

The Whisperers chant, we are ready; we are here. Beta rocks his mask, and they chant, we are here; this is the end of the world. Beta says, begin. They turn and head closer to the hospital. A crane shot shows us there are… a lot of them. Like, a whole lot.

Eugene sits on the ground. His bicycle is out of commission, and Ezekiel says he doesn’t know about the chain. Eugene checks himself out in a car window, and says, don’t bother; it’s too late. He’s run the calculations, and the time it will take to get there is too long. Yumiko says they’ll figure something out, but he says, unless they can slow the passage of time, there’s nothing else to figure out. The rendezvous time was set in stone, and they’re not there. She won’t be either. He says he’s sorry. After all they hoped, and went through to hold onto said hope, he believes it’s time to go eye to eye with reality. It’s time to head back home. Ezekiel says they’re not going back. They said they’d do this, and  they’re going to do this. In his moment of doubt, Eugene didn’t let him waver, so he’s not letting Eugene waver now. His journey must be complete for all of them, and the ones left behind. Ezekiel says Eugene has to try. He’s gotten this far in his journey and his life. What do they want to remember? That they did everything they could, even if it means he has to carry Eugene. Eugene sniffles, and Ezekiel holds out his hand. He helps Eugene up, but Eugene says, it won’t change anything. Princess says she didn’t think she’d ever see other people again, and look at her now. Yumiko says, they’ll know when they get there tomorrow. They have tomorrow to deal with tomorrow’s problems.

Daryl puts wires around the banisters to boobytrap them. He and Carol have a conversation that I can barely understand. I can’t believe the two people who rarely talk, and when they do, you have to strain to hear them, are the ones getting a spin-off. It didn’t sound that important, but still.

Gabriel says, the plan is for the horde to be led away, but not to Oceanside as planned. When it’s clear, they’ll meet at rendezvous point B. He asks if Luke is ready, and Luke says, technically. The final pieces need to connect to the wagon in order for them to do the Pied Piper thing and get the zombies over the cliff. But they need to get from point A to point B to plug it in. Someone has to go through the horde. Gabriel says they have four crews, two people each. Jerry says it’s crucial that the equipment makes it to the wagon. Lydia says she’ll help; she can make it. A woman from Oceanside says they’re in, but only if Lydia isn’t going. They understand the people there forgave her, but Oceanside isn’t ready. Gabriel says Lydia’s role is there anyway, and Captain Obvious Daryl says, they’re not all going to make it.

Dianne says Carol keeps thinking she could have helped them, but she couldn’t. Carol says she knows; she’s sorry. She puts knife in her sleeve. Lydia tells Carol that she doesn’t hate her for what she did, and Carol says she should. It didn’t fix anything. Lydia says, it did for her; a little at least. It sounds awful, but it’s the truth. The truth is, she didn’t love her mother, so thanks. She’d like it if she and Carol could still talk about whatever. She starts to leave, but Carol calls her back. Carol says Lydia needs to find her own way, and Lydia says she’s not looking for another mom. That’s not what this is. She could use a friend, and so could Carol.

The group going out covers themselves in guts. Negan tells Daryl, he ain’t going. He’s at the top of every skin’s kill list. The idea is to get through it, and after the sh*tload of attention he’s gotten, he’s the last person anyone wants next to them. Daryl says if he wants to be a part of it, he has to put his ass on the line like everyone else. Gabriel says, it’s time, and opens the vestibule door, as Judith stands next to him. The group files into the vestibule. Judith closes the door, and Daryl puts his hand on the window. She puts her hand against his on the other side. Kelly puts on a skin mask, and Jerry opens the door. Zombies come in, ignoring them. It gets tight quickly, and I almost want to freak out myself. Daryl and the others shuffle out, as the zombies are shuffling in. Soon enough, the zombies begin to shuffle back out when they realize there’s nowhere else to go. The group allow themselves to be pushed along.

Gabriel watches through binoculars. The group blends into the crowd, which has to be in the thousands. Magna looks like she’s going to freak or throw up. Jerry puts a hand on her shoulder. Daryl keeps looking around, and sees a Whisperer with a knife, who immediately gets shot by an arrow. The zombies feed on the downed Whisperer.

Gabriel continues to watch, and Dianne says, there, in the center. She aims her bow and arrow, but someone else shoots the Whisperer who is heading for Magna. The zombies feed again, and Beta is like, hmm… He looks up, but doesn’t see anyone in the windows. Nothing phases this dude, and he tells a passing Whisperer, tight together. They begin to chant, together. Beta looks around. It’s like Woodstock.

Gabriel says he can’t find them in the horde, and Dianne asks what she should do. Another woman with a bow says she got one, and Gabriel tells her to be certain before she shoots. A crash is heard downstairs, and Judith takes a look. She sees a zombie (or a Whisperer) crawling up the stairs, which is creepy enough, but it’s got a knife in its eyeball. She runs back, and says, they’re coming up.

Gabriel says they all know what to do. He tells Dianne to be in the first group, and the children and Rosita are to go to the office. Negan tells Lydia, they know how this ends, but she says, that’s not true. She doesn’t, and neither does he. He says her being there won’t change anything about the sh*tstorm going down. She can slip out, go down, and dance her way through the dead. She says so could he, but he says she told him herself, he ain’t no hero. She says, he could be, and he says, he guesses that’s why he’s doing what he’s doing now. He hands her a mask, and he grabs a rope that’s tied around a pillar, using it to go down the elevator shaft.

The outside group intersperses themselves among the horde. This is a very slow moving crowd. Worse than the line at Trader Joe’s last June. Luke, Magna, and Jerry go through the woods, and come across a small group of zombies. Carol shuffles into the crowd, exchanging glances with one of the women from Oceanside. Oceansider Beatrice has a knife, and a Whisperer sees it, slamming it out of her hand. Carol quickly slices the Whisperer open. The Whisperer falls, but grabs Beatrice by the foot, and slices her across the calf. Ow. Beatrice cries out, and the zombies get a two-for-one meal. Beatrice calls Carol’s name, and Carol stops for a moment, but keeps going. Even I agree, there’s no point. It’s pretty gruesome, with lots of blood gushing out of severed limbs, and the traditional zombies eating intestines. I’m guessing they’re trying to throw a lot in since it was supposed to be the finale. Carol goes off to the side where there’s less traffic, comes eye to eye with Lydia, who’s in a skin mask, but still wearing her backpack. They go past Daryl.

At the hospital, Gabriel radios Daryl, who tells him something about the wires on the stairway. Gabriel says his prayers are with them, but Daryl says, don’t need ‘em. Oh, bleepity-bleep-bleep. Dog starts barking, and I’d forgotten about him. I swear to God, I will never watch this show again if Dog gets it. The doorway is barricaded with furniture, but the Whisperers use an ax to try and get through. Judith aims her bow and arrow.

A Whisperer passes Beta, saying, almost here. Beta is still wondering, WTF? We hear music in the distance, and the horde turns and moves toward it. Luke drives a wagon, carrying loudspeakers that are blasting Burning Down the House. The rest of the group walks alongside and behind the wagon.

Back at the hospital, the Whisperers are almost in, when Daryl’s boobytrap goes off.

Jerry slowly leads the horde on a dirt road through the woods. Daryl seems amused. Someone yells, they’re coming, and Carol and Lydia shoot their arrows. Daryl gets out his crossbow. Whisperers come out of the woods; some of them are shot, some are nailed by boobytraps. A wheel comes off the wagon, and Daryl tells everyone to go. They take off, along with the horses, and some Whisperers destroy the wagon.

Daryl radios Gabriel, and says they lost the wagon. He tells the others, it’s not a good plan, but it’s all he’s got. They go back, and hunt the skins; take them out one by one. If they don’t, all their people will die. Magna wonders how they’re going to lead the zombies away, Lydia says she knows how; her mother taught her. Luke says they have to be lead off a cliff, but they have no wagon to lead them over the edge. It’s suicide. Daryl says, they’ll deal with that later. They’ve got to go now.

Gabriel backs up, huge gun in his hands. Everyone is gone, except Judith, and he tells her that she should go. She asks if he’s not coming, and he says someone needs to stop them. She asks if Rosita knows, and he says, tell her, Eres mi media naranja… Judith says, you’re my half orange? and he says, she’ll know. Judith leaves, and the Whisperers finally get the door open. Gabriel shoots one, but decides to save bullets, and starts whacking them with both ends of the weapon. He’s no match for two of them, who get him down. A third raises an ax above Gabriel, but someone comes in from behind and goes crazy on the lot of them. Behind the crazy guy is Maggie, who helps Gabriel up. He hugs her, and Aaron looks at the surprise guest killer, who’s wearing some kind of Power Rangers outfit.

In the horde, Daryl and the others are killing off Whisperers, and Beta is sure now that something is going on, looking around more quickly than usual. A Whisperer shuffles past him, saying, go back. He takes out a sword, but a masked Negan says, hey sh*thead, from behind him. Beta flies toward Negan, throwing whoever out of the way. he throws a zombie (or a Whisperer; it’s unclear) at Negan, who falls down. Negan throws the zombie off of him, but Beta is over him with his weapon. Daryl comes up behind Beta, and slams two knives into Beta’s eyeballs. Beta’s life with Alpha flashes before him. He hears, we are nothing; we are free; we embrace death. The zombies move in around him. Daryl helps Negan up. Beta’s mask is removed, and he seems like he’s in ecstasy as he’s pulled to the ground by the zombies. Negan says, sh*t. Does Daryl know who that a-hole was? Daryl says, Nobody. Dammit. Dammit! Are we never to know?

The horde wanders toward the cliff, and Carol says she’ll do it, bypassing Lydia. I think, but wait. Carol can’t die. She has a spin-off coming. Carol gets close to the edge of the cliff, and stands there. The horde catches up, and a hand grabs Carol, pulling her back, as the zombies keep going, and walk off the cliff. Lydia pulls Carol into a hole, and Carol says she told Lydia to go. Lydia says, Carol told her to find her own way. They cry, and hold one another. Zombies walk past, and tumble down into the ravine. Carol thanks her, and they watch as the lemmings zombies continue to drop over the side. Lydia tosses her mask, and it goes over with the zombies. This is a pretty good throw, since it must have had to zigzag through the crowd.

It takes less time than you’d think for all those zombies to plummet into the abyss, but the show only has another few minutes. Lydia and Carol look out over the canyon, and the sun breaks through the clouds.

In a clearing, everyone regroups. Gabrielle kisses Rosita, and Maggie says hello to everyone. She sees Judith, and kneels down. Judith hugs her. Magna bandages Kelly. Carol and Lydia come back, and Jerry says, is it…? and Lydia says, it is. Carol says, thanks to her. Jerry says, thanks all around. He can’t believe they pulled it off. Lydia says Negan is still there, and he says, for now. She hugs him, and Carol hugs Jerry. Carol asks Daryl if they’re good, and he says, yeah. It’s over. She says, it is, and he says she got what she wanted. She says, not really, and he asks if she still loves him. She says, yeah, and he nods, and says, yeah. They hug – lots of hugging going on – and Daryl says she could go to New Mexico. She says, maybe someday. They still have things to do there.

A hand claws at the dry leaves in the woods. A woman stands up, and stumbles forward. It’s Connie, covered head to toe in dirt. She falls. A horse approaches, and the rider looks down. It’s Virgil.

Eugene, Princess, Ezekiel, and Magna –  the ones who should really have the spin-off – get to the meeting spot. Princess asks if they have a secret code or something, and Eugene shouts that it’s Eugene Porter there. Princess noses around, and Eugene goes to the door.

Princess and Eugene sit looking dejected. Ezekiel says they can stay in one of the cars. Maybe in the morning… Eugene says, she’s not there anymore; if she ever was. Yumiko says, no regrets, and Eugene says they’re not turning back. There are people out there – maybe not in this trainyard or in a mile radius – but they’re going to keep on trekking until they find them. The reason they assimilated was to make what built stronger with like-minded folks. Assimilate they can. Princess says Eugene is one horny dude.

They all laugh, and stadium lights come on. We hear, weapons down; hands in the air. Suddenly, they’re surrounded by people in stormtrooper uniforms, with guns pointed at them.

TWD will be back in early 2021. Next week – Fear the Walking Dead – Rick gets some play, and we find out more about Al and those circles.

The Walking Dead: The World Beyond

I enjoyed this show, and definitely want to see more. It’s kind of the YA version of The Walking Dead, but I love YA novels, so I can easily get behind this.

Iris and Hope are sisters, living in one of three existing colonies of survivors. Theirs is called the Omaha or Campus Colony, as it’s housed in Nebraska State University. They refer to an incident ten years ago as the night the sky fell, when their mother was killed. Later, their father Leo went to work for a government organization called the Civic Republic, trying to find a cure for zombieism. FYI, zombies in this part of the franchise are called empties. The organization has something to do with those three circles Al discovered in Fear the Walking Dead, so I’m sure more will be revealed as time goes on.

Iris is the more conservative of the two, participating in Monument Day – a day to celebrate those who survived and found safety, and are monuments to the past – and schmoozing with Elizabeth, a lieutenant colonel who heads the military and works with the Civic Republic. Hope is more rebellious, getting nailed for having a distillery on campus, and pretty much telling Elizabeth to f*** off. Iris is also going to a therapist, since she has nightmares, and when she wakes up, has anxiety about everything she has to do. I can identify with the latter, which sounds like me most mornings. She also has guilt over getting separated from Hope when their mom was killed, since Hope saw everything. The doctor pinpoints that Iris feels guilty over not doing enough when she and Hope got separated, and she now feels she has to do everything for everybody. She suggests Iris talk to her sister, and let go of what she’s been holding on to for her.

Between both Iris and Hope’s flashbacks, the night the sky fell is pieced together, and we see the aftermath of a plane crash, where their parents tried to steer them past falling wreckage and the dead coming back as zombies. When Leo stopped to help a pregnant woman, he and Iris became separated from Hope and their mother. Later, their mother tried to get the same pregnant woman to share a car with her so she could find the rest of her family. The woman shot their mother (it seemed to be more accidental than intentional), and in turn, Hope shot her.

It’s normal life, sort of.  As Iris tells us, they still live behind walls, but the dead still have the world. Leo has made security force officer Felix the sisters’ legal guardian while he’s gone, and has been sending them secret messages. Another officer, Felix’s sidekick Huck, has been teaching Hope how to fight the dead. During the first episode, the girls receive a message from Leo saying his safety is not assured. Overhearing Hope talking to Iris about her distrust for the Civic Republic, Elizabeth assures them that all is well. She gives them a map to the facility where she says their father is teaching other scientists and working toward a cure, telling them she could get in trouble for doing it. But then they receive yet one more message from their father – It’s gone bad. Keeping my head down. I’ll find help. Don’t tell the Council. Don’t tell Felix. Iris then also becomes suspicious of the Civic Republic. It doesn’t help when she discovers her therapist has turned into a zombie, which was kind of sad, but at least the doctor had the good sense to put serious bars on the entrance to her apartment, so she couldn’t have Iris as a snack when Iris showed up for her appointment. The girls decide to go on a mission to help their father, along with the assistance of two classmates, Elton and Silas, both nerdy outsiders. This reminded somewhat of A Wrinkle in Time, one of my all-time favorite YA novels. When Elton shows them a photo of his mother, we see it’s the pregnant woman from long ago. I also see an awkward conversation in the future.

It’s a 1100 mile trip to NY, and why they decide to go on foot, I’m not sure, but they leave Felix a note and head out. When Felix finds the note, he tells Huck, they’ll never make it; they’ll die. He and Huck decide to follow them. On the outside, it’s both beautiful and creepy. Elton, who is like a cheerier Eugene, says, let’s see what discoveries await us, shall we? just before Iris has to kill her first zombie.

Back at the colony, Elizabeth is destroying the whole place and killing everyone. Why? We don’t know yet. One of her soldiers tells Elizabeth that they couldn’t find her, and Elizabeth says, good. Who? We don’t know yet.

While this was basically just the set up, I think TWB shows a lot of promise. It’s certainly more upbeat, which is a refreshing change. Hopefully, Rick doesn’t show up.

👩🏽‍🚀 Over and Out…

While I enjoyed it, it was tough to get back into Sunday night Dead mode. I decided to forego Talking Dead to watch Lovecraft Country, which gets eerier every week. I hope I don’t dream about those strange twins from bizarro Little Rascals world, who kept doing Twyla Tharp choreography. Until we meet on Deck, stay safe, stay informed, and stay not walking off the cliff with the zombies.

️ General Hospital turned into baseball today when MLB took over.

💬 There was also no The Haves and The Have Nots. It will be back with a new episode next week.

🛥 Bravo had nothing new, sort of. There were a couple of episodes of Watch with Kate Chastain: Below Deck Mediterranean. This was probably the best way to watch that show this season. Kate knows how to make a snarky comment, and after viewing Tom’s first meltdown, said she felt like she’d watched 40 episodes. She gave the best quote of the night after Malia asked Tom to meet with Captain Sandy, and he said he wasn’t fully prepared to cook. She pointed out the majority of the Below Deck chefs weren’t, and said, You know how to make nachos? You’re hired.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

I missed the very beginning, but here are the takeaway points. Valentin gave Alexis a ride home, since she couldn’t drive her car, Cameron told Franco about homecoming, and said he needed a tux, Lulu and Elizabeth met for lunch at Kelly’s, and Ava and Nina met for lunch at the MetroCourt. Maxie discovered Brando hadn’t gotten to her car, and said she was going to leave him a bad review, but Sam walked in and diffused the situation. Onward…

Alexis thanks Valentin for the lift. He says he’s happy to help, and she says he’s only happy when something’s in it for him. Doesn’t he have a stolen corporation to run? He says he didn’t steal it. He staged a legitimate takeover. He’s not above self-interest, but that’s not why he’s there. She says she doesn’t care why he’s there. Under other circumstances, she’d be happy to spar with him, but it’s not a good time. Again, she thanks him for unlocking the door, but kindly use it to leave. He says she’s being rude, but he won’t hold it against her after what she’s been through. It’s more than anyone should bear. He heard about Neil, and he’s so, so sorry.

Cameron tells Franco that he and Trina decided they were better off as friends. Franco says, that’s mature, and Cameron says, except he likes her. He likes the times they spend together, just the two of them. He thinks they should try dating for real. Franco says, tell her, and Cameron says he makes it sound easy. Franco says, it’s tortuously difficult, but Cameron and Trina went through a horrible ordeal and came out the other side together; it’s a special bond. Cameron wonders what if he missed the chance, and Franco says, then he did. Trina is a straight shooter. Just tell her how he feels. It will be okay. Cameron says, there’s a catch – Josslyn.

Lulu tells Elizabeth, if it’s any consolation, Peter approved something that might change the public’s perception of Cyrus. Elizabeth says, the sooner, the better, and Lulu says she knows her mother would help with Elizabeth and Franco’s finances, since their hours were cut. Elizabeth knows she would, but for now, they’re managing. Trina comes in, and says hello to them, and Elizabeth says she heard about homecoming. She asks if Trina is excited, and Trina says, definitely, but it’s a lot to plan. She’s going to grab a drink and get started. Trina goes to the counter, and Lulu says, it just hit her. They’re all seniors now. Elizabeth says she knows. It seems like just yesterday she was bringing Cameron home from the hospital, and now they’re talking about colleges. Lulu says she remembers being the annoying little sisters. A lot has changed since then.

Ava tells Nina, she took Avery to Sonny’s cabin while the dealt with Mike. Who should interrupt, but Nikolas. He was trying to catch her in an affair. Nina should have seen him. He was ridiculous; demanding to know which window Franco planned to escape out of. Nina asks, what’s the human part? and Ava says, when Nikolas realized it was just her and Avery, the dad in him came out. He helped Avery catch fireflies, and helped her to search for Avery in the dark. Nina asks if Avery is okay, and Ava says, Avery is fine. It’s her mother who’s hopelessly confused. She and Nikolas were hating each other, and now he’s kind and understanding for no apparent reason. Nina says, wait; back up. Ava and Nikolas had sex?

Sam tells Maxie, yes; she does know Brando, and he hasn’t neglected Maxie’s car. He got jumped. Can’t she tell by his face? Maxie says she sees the bruises, but figured he was greasing an axel and dropped a wrench on himself or something. Sam’s phone rings, and she steps away to take the call. Maxie says she’s sorry about what happened, and asks if Brando is still in pain. He says only when he’s threatened with a bad review. He introduces himself, and Maxie says, Sonny’s relative, who just popped up to save Carly’s life. He says, right place, right time. Sam says she has to take off. She tells them, play nice, and tells Brando, feel better. He thanks her for stopping to check on him. When she’s gone, Maxie says, Sam’s stamp of approval. How’d he get that?

Cameron explains to Franco that he, Josslyn, Trina, and Dev are all going together. Franco says he doesn’t know whether to give Cameron a high five or give him a lecture on respect and honesty. Cameron says they’re going as friends, and Franco says, sounds like fun. Cameron says, it sounds complicated. If he does nothing, he stays in the friendzone. If he says how he feels, he could be rejected and hurt someone’s feelings. Someone he cares about. Franco says he doesn’t know how to tell Cameron who go with, or how to sort it out, but for the tux rental, he’s got Cameron covered.

Lulu tells Elizabeth, she loves Nikolas, but the game he’s playing with Ava isn’t worth the cost to Spencer. He’s staying in this farce of a marriage just to best Ava. It’s driving her nuts. Elizabeth says, her too, but to be fair, Ava and Nikolas are doing it to each other. Lulu says she has to believe Nikolas is better than that, and there’s still some good under all the hurt and pain. She’s seen glimmers of it. Elizabeth has seen it too, right? Elizabeth flashes back to Nikolas kissing her, and says she can think of a few things he’s done, and he’s not better. Nikolas walks into Kelly’s.

Dante asks Dr. Kirk where this is coming from. The doctor came to him, and said they wanted him on a mission where a close friend or family member was involved; that he was uniquely suited for it. Dr. Kirk says, correct, and Dante asks what the problem is. The doctor says they doubt Dante can complete the mission. He’s still a danger to himself and those around him. Dante says, that’s what he told the doctor, and why he turned it down. Then his mother got in there, and he heard her crying. He’s not saving his family by staying there; he’s hurting them worse. He wants to accept the mission, and now they’re taking it away. He asks, who made the decision? Dr. Kirk says, the recommendation is in Dante’s file, and Dante says, he’s the one. Dante does look kind of crazed right now.

Nikolas tells Lulu and Elizabeth that he just came from Sonny and Carly’s; he heard about Mike. Elizabeth says, Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease, and Lulu asks how Spencer is handling it. Nikolas says, he never met Courtney’s father, and now he never will. Elizabeth says, it’s too bad Spencer is in Europe instead of being close to his family, and Nikolas says, if he could take back the past few years… Elizabeth says she has to get to the hospital, and jets. Lulu asks what Nikolas did to upset her, and he says, it’s a long list. What did he walk in on? It sounded like they were in the middle of something important. Lulu says they were. They were talking about him.

Nina says, Ava had sex with her husband? and Ava says she can hardly believe it happened too. Now she’s confused. It was easy to hate Nikolas when he was manipulating and gaslighting her, but last night the bastard reminded her that he’s capable of passion, empathy, and deep humanity. Nina says, that’s awful, and Ava says, it’s terrible. She should have seen him with Avery. He was truly sincerely sad that Sonny’s father had passed away. It’s the first time since they were stuck on Cassadine Island that he’s treated her like a human being. Nina asks, now that she’s rediscovered his humanity, what does it mean for her marriage? Franco walks in.

Alexis thanks Valentin for being so kind. They don’t typically have a cordial relationship. He says she’s been kind to him. She was the only one who didn’t condemn him in the light of Sasha and Nina, and finding out he wasn’t a Cassadine. When he was at rock bottom, she reached out. He’s returning the favor. They might not be siblings, but they can be friends. She wonders if he’s going to give her friendly advice, but he says he’s fresh out, and doubts she would take if offered. But he can sip tea, and she can tell him about Neil. She says she got a notice for Neil’s memorial; it’s happening today. It bothers her that they boil people’s lives down to two sentences. Neil’s was, esteemed colleague and respected psychiatrist. He was a lot more than a professional bio and a tragic opioid statistic. Valentin says, tell him about Neil, and she says, he was a wonderful man, full of contradictions and interests. He loved the opera and vinyl records, and had courage. He saved children from dangerous cults, and he was a father. He sang to his daughter on the anniversary of her death each year for her. So they made a mess of their careers for each other, and were planning a future of hope the night he died. The next morning, that was all gone. He’s gone. Valentin says he’s sorry. Sam walks in, and says Molly texted and said she should check on Alexis. She sees Alexis’s cast, and says, you son of a bitch. What happened? Alexis says Valentin didn’t do it. She did it to herself.

Maxie says, Sam is usually guarded, and Brando flashes back to Sam telling him that if he tries to make trouble for Molly, he’ll be in a world of trouble with her. He says, doesn’t he know it, and Maxie says, it takes a special person to win Sam over. What did he do? He guesses he made the cut, and asks about her car. She says it’s her boyfriend’s car, and he asks what it was doing before it stopped running. She says, sputtering, and not accelerating, like it was losing its grip. It would stall, catch, then loose steam. A light came on, and they looked it up. Brando says, the crankshaft position sensor, and she says, so he is good.

Dante says, Dr. Kirk did this. He got the director to rescind the offer. Dr. Kirk says Dante’s pulse is elevated, and he’s raising his voice. Dante says, no kidding. He moves closer to the doctor, who tells him, stop. Dante says Dr. Kirk told him going would be the right thing. He pounds on the door, and shouts that he was going to go home and rebuild his life. Now that’s being taken away. No way in hell is Dr. Kirk doing that to him.

Brando tells Maxie, he noticed she has two car seats, and she says she has two kids – Georgie, James, and another one on the way. She might as well sell the car and get a minivan. Oh God. Her in a minivan. He says he can see it, and she asks him if he has kids. He starts to say no, but says, yes; one boy. She says, he forgot? and Brando says, he’s a teen, and he didn’t know him in a car seat. She says there’s still time to get to know his son, and time to put a little one in a car seat. Does he want more kids? He says, most women don’t asks that question until the sixth date.

Sam tells Alexis that she’s surprised, and Alexis says osteoporosis surprised her too, but the scan says she definitely has it. Molly was there. She thought Alexis shouldn’t be alone, so she’s sure that’s why Molly texted. Sam says she’s glad Molly did. Who knows when Alexis would have told her about this. Alexis says she needed time alone to process it. Sam asks if that’s why she was having tea with Valentin, and Alexis says Valentin helped her open the door, and he invited himself in. Sam says, if she can’t open… and Alexis says she has a lot on her mind. She’s distracted. She’s been disbarred and lost her license to protect a man who died in her bed of an overdose. She just got a notice about his memorial, and found out on her phone five minutes ago. Meanwhile, she’s klutzing around with one good hand and weak bones. Her position has been diminished in her place too, and now she has to spend extra time getting the damn front door open.

Dr. Kirk tells Dante, step back, and Dante asks if the doctor is afraid of what he might do. After Dr. Kirk offered him hope, he snatched it away from him. Dante walks to the other side of the room, and says he’s not going to do that. Dr. Kirk says that’s what he told his superiors when they insisted on subjecting him to this exercise. They have an audience. He points to a camera, and says his superiors wanted him to assess whether Dante could handle the stress, to make sure he won’t harm any innocents in the course of his mission. Dante says, to make sure they’re not libel in case he snaps. The doctor says he passed the test, but it’s by no means the only metric measure of fitness. Going home won’t be easy. It will be harder than Dante can imagine, but he can still see his family, and let his demons go free.

Cameron asks Trina how she feels about the four of them going as friends. She guesses she feels fine. It’s what they all decided. What’s the problem? Is he having second thoughts?

Lulu says she’d love to believe Nikolas will make the right choice in the end, and not the lucrative one. He says he’s not ready to give up. She asks if he’s close to driving Ava away for good – he flashes back to him and Ava kissing – or is he having second thoughts?

Franco tells Nina and Ava, good morning. They all just look at each other, and he says he was hoping to find Nina. He wants to ask a favor. Cameron needs a tux, and he was hoping she might help him out. Nina tells him to call the office, and they’ll set it up. He says he knew he could count on her. She’s been a good friend, and always has his best intentions at heart. He goes back to the elevator, and Nina says, nice of Franco to say why he came there. She has a feeling it wasn’t about her. Ava says, maybe it’s because they kissed.

Brando tells Maxie, he’s starting a business, and has no time for a social life, but he does have two ladies he’s crazy about – Avery and Donna. He’s enjoying getting to know his family. Maxie asks, what about his son? and Brando says, he’s a great kid. He wouldn’t mind more… someday. She asks, what’s his son’s mom like? Are they still in touch? He says, no. Like he said, he didn’t even know about Dev until a year ago, but they’re forming a strong bond. Dev just came by and asked for help with a girl problem, although he’s the last guy for that. Maxie says she would think a guy like him had vast experience with women.

Sam tells Alexis, calm down. She knows it’s a shock, but osteoporosis isn’t a rare condition; a lot of women have it. Alexis says she knows that intellectually, but when Portia gave her the diagnosis, it was like she’d been run over by a truck. It’s a chronic condition, and doesn’t go away. She has a pamphlet listing treatments that will help manage it. Apparently, she’ll be making lifestyle changes. Sam looks at the pamphlet, and says she’s ahead with cutting back on alcohol. Eating leafy greens and more calcium, Molly has been telling her that for years. Alexis says, keep reading. She has to wear comfortable shoes, and take special care when she exercises to prevent a fall risking her bones. Sam says, life without heels can be daunting, but seriously, talk to her doctor and come up with a plan. Alexis says she thought she wouldn’t have to think about this for years. It’s too much. Valentin says she should make the necessary arrangements for her funeral. Would she like a pine box or a ceramic funerary urn?

Cameron tells Trina, he was thinking about how the decision came to be, and she tells him, just spit it out. He says he was thinking… Josslyn shows up, and says she didn’t think she’d make it. Cameron says he’s sorry to hear about Mike; he was a great guy. He hugs Josslyn, and Trina says, he was. Josslyn thanks them, and says her dad reminded her that Mike would want her to get on with her life. Have they decided anything? Trina says she started a playlist, but Cameron was about tell her something. Cameron says he doesn’t want this to get in the way, in case Trina was thinking about taking someone. Josslyn asks if there’s someone they don’t know about.

Nikolas says, it turns out he and Ava can’t hate each other for an extended period of time. Lulu asks if they’re getting along better, and he says he doesn’t know what happened. He thought the plan was foolproof until Ava overheard her talking about him and Spencer working together. She says he’s welcome, and he says, try not be happy for his failure. She says she’s on his side, and he says he supposes she is. She wonders if he’d be better off if he cut Ava loose and lost his fortune, than torturing her and losing his soul.

Nina says, Ava kissed Franco? and Ava says, it sort of happened. Nina says, like it sort of happened she slept with Nikolas? Was it mutual? Ava says, it seemed that way at the time. Afterwards, it was obvious it was a mistake. Nina says as an outsider looking at Ava’s marriage, it seems like she and Nikolas don’t hate each other as much as they think they do. Maybe a marriage of convenience could become something more, like a real marriage. Ava doesn’t know if last night was a one-time truce, or if Nikolas wants more, or wants anything at all. Nina says, who cares what Nikolas wants? What does Ava want?

Alexis says Valentin couldn’t be any more insensitive, but he’s right. It’s not a tragedy; it’s a setback. He says, it’s a fact of life. She has the option to give up or make adjustments. Sam thinks Valentin should keep his take on women’s health issues to himself, and Alexis says she knows Sam is trying to support her, but she has something to discuss with Valentin that doesn’t concern Sam. She hustles Sam to the door, and Sam says Alexis is making her nervous. Alexis says she knows what she’s doing, and Sam says she hopes so. Alexis promises to call. When Sam is gone, Alexis thanks Valentin. He completely overstepped, but he said what she needed to hear. He says she didn’t want to thank him in front of Sam, but she says she didn’t want Sam to know she wants to borrow his car and driver. He asks where she’s going, and she says, Neil’s memorial. She can’t drive herself, and needs to be there. It might give her insight into who Neil was, and why he did what he did. If she finds that out, she can learn to let go and start living her life.

Dr. Kirk gives Dante some medication, and says he’ll help Dante every step of the way. Dante says, with what? He still doesn’t know what he’s doing. Dr. Kirk gives him some papers, and says, his mission. He walks out, and Dante starts to read.

Brando says Maxie doesn’t hold back, does she? She says, there’s a new single guy in town, and she has single friends. She admits she’s trying to figure him out. He says he’ll call her a car, and she ponders.

Dr. Kirk goes into an office, and says, it’s done. Dante is going home, in spite of his strong misgivings. Dante thinks he’s in control, but he’s dangerously close to the edge, and could snap. The doctor knows he has no choice. If they say it has to happen, it has to happen.

Franco goes to the hospital, and sees Elizabeth. She says, good timing. She was just going to text him. She’d been catching up with Lulu, and saw Nikolas. He says, what a coincidence; he just saw Ava. He thinks they should talk, and Elizabeth agrees. She thinks they need to clear the air.

Trina says there is someone she wants to take, but it would be impossible. Josslyn asks, why? Trina is funny, smart, and popular. There’s no way guys aren’t lining up to ask her out. Trina thanks her, but she meant her dad. If he could be there, they could have one last father/daughter dance, where he’d be smiling and snapping photos, but obviously, that can’t happen. The four of them will just have to have a wonderful night. She suggests they get to it, and stop making it complicated.

Nikolas tells Lulu, his and Ava’s relationship might be dysfunctional, but his soul isn’t at risk. The more time he spends with Ava, the more he finds… Admire is a strong word… respect…? Lulu says, appreciate? and he says he wouldn’t go that far. Ava has a toughness that masks a deep vulnerability. She has a cutting sense of humor, and a maternal side that people wouldn’t guess of her. Lulu says she could be wrong, but it sounds like Nikolas is falling for his wife. Nikolas’s phone dings, and he sees a picture of him kissing Elizabeth. Underneath, it says, I know what you did.

Ava tells Nina, she’s not sure what she wants anymore. Nikolas is clearly a scoundrel. He hid from his family for years, and his gaslighting sent her straight to Shadybrook. Yet…  Nina says, oh my God. Ava is falling for Nikolas. Ava’s phone dings, and she sees a picture of her and Franco kissing. Underneath, it says, I know what you did.

I can’t believe it. At the time someone snapped the photos, I told a friend that I wondered if it was the same person who would try to blackmail both of them, and she said she didn’t think so. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! I was right.

Tomorrow, Scotty says the sky’s the limit, Avery tells Sonny the necklace is hers, and Carly tells Jason she did something he’s not going to like.

The Haves and The Have Nots

Vinny takes the gun from Sandy, and shoots Wyatt. Or so we think. Wyatt slumps to the floor, but he’s not shot. Vinny asks what the hell is wrong with Sandy? Is he a pansy? Sandy says, no, and Vinny says, he can’t shoot somebody? What kind of Malone can’t shoot somebody? Take the gun. Wyatt says his parents have money, but Vinny tells him, shut up, and says, this kid is a wuss. He asks if Sandy wants him to tell Mama Rose that he can’t pull the trigger. Sandy says he can do it; he’ll get better. Vinny says he won’t because he’s a wimp. He tells Sandy, get out of here, and Sandy says he’s not a wimp. Vinny says, the only person afraid of him is that girl of his. If he wants to carry the Malone name, he’d better step up. Mama Rose isn’t running this thing; he is. If Sandy thinks he’s going to put up with this sh*t… Sandy says he knows Vinny won’t. Vinny pats Sandy’s face, gives him the gun, and tells him to get the hell out. Sandy leaves, and Vinny wonders what to do with Wyatt. Wyatt begs, please, whatever Vinny wants, but Vinny asks if he said Wyatt could talk. Wyatt says, sorry, and Vinny says the only reason Wyatt is still alive is because he’s worth a million dollars. That’s what his mother says, but him? He wants Wyatt’s blood.

Vinny tells Wyatt to sit up. He’s not worth a million dollars to Vinny. He wants Wyatt dead. Vinny points to his neck, and says, Wyatt did this. Wyatt says, sorry, man, and Vinny asks if he said Wyatt could talk. WTF is wrong with him? What happened that he’s in this strung out position? Does he ever trade sex for a fix? Wyatt says, no, but Vinny bets he has. Look at those lips. His mom and dad gave him everything. If Vinny had his life, he could have been President. He asks what happened to Wyatt’s wrists? and Wyatt says he cut them. Vinny asks if he’s talking about trying to kill himself, but Wyatt says he was trying to get out of jail. Vinny says, he was in jail? This story gets better and better. Wyatt says he was trying to get out and get to a hospital to get pain meds, but he found another way out. Vinny asks if he made bail, but Wyatt says he escaped. Vinny asks what Wyatt was in jail for, and Wyatt says he shot his parents. Vinny says, man, you ungrateful piece of crap. He should do everyone a favor and kill Wyatt. The hell with the million. It’s what Mama Rose wants. Wyatt’s mother got fresh with his mother, and now she wants a million. He thought his family was bad, but Wyatt’s family sucks. Wyatt stats to cry, and Vinny asks if he looks like a therapist. Don’t cry.

On the phone, Benny says he’ll come by someone’s office. Candace comes in from the bathroom, and Benny says they want $18 for a water, and the phone is $2 a minute. She says, thank God he has his cell. He says the realtor sounds hot, and she tells him, don’t be a douche. She asks if he’s meeting with her, and he says he is. She asks what his price range is, and he says she knows him. She tells him, get something nice, and he asks if she wants to come meet with the realtor. She says she’s not feeling well. She thinks she ate something bad. He says, the $45 hamburger. She tells him to send pictures, and he leaves. Candace calls Mitch, who asks, what’s going on? She asks if he can come over, and gives him her room number.

At Charles’s house, Conley has a drink. Landon comes in, and Conley asks if he’s not Charles’s Press Secretary. He’s been watching, and thinks Landon is doing a good job. He’s also been watching Landon and him; he takes good care of him. Landon says, he’s an important man. Conley says, he is, but the attention Landon gives him is more personal. Landon says it’s his job, but Conley says he goes above and beyond. He tells Landon, don’t apologize; it’s a good thing. He needs looking after. Landon thanks him, and says he thinks so too. Conley says, so tell him about Candace Young. Landon says, well… and Conley says he knows Charles loves her. He knows Landon’s been doing clean-up with the press, and it’s going well. He thinks Charles should reach out to her. Landon says, well… and Conley says, do him a favor. Stop saying well. Charles told him that Landon knows Candace. Landon says he does, and Conley says, and…? Landon says, well… and Conley tells him, stop. Landon says he’s not comfortable talking about this. Conley says, then he won’t press it. So does Landon think Charles should reach out? Just answer the question, boy. Landon says he thinks if Charles wanted to, he would. Conley says, no; he wouldn’t. Conley suggests he reach out, but Landon says, that’s not a good idea, and Conley says, he knows this? Conley has known Charles since Charles was his student years ago. Landon says, he’s not a college kid; he’s President Elect. Charles has got to consider that in his decisions. Conley says he’s right. Charles should keep him around. He’s smart. Landon thanks him, and jets.

Veronica knocks on the window to get Samuel’s attention. He comes in, and she asks if she can talk to him. He says he’s a little sweaty, but she says she likes sweaty. He asks, what’s up? and she says she’s having a hard time reaching a cake plate. She asks if he can get for her, and he takes it down. She says he’s very handsome… and tall. She’s sure his wife appreciates it. He says she does, and Veronica asks if he’s happily married. He says, yes, and she laughs. He asks, what’s funny? and she says she laughs when men say they’re happily married. She knows they’re lying. He says he loves Laura very much; he adores her. Veronica asks if he’s cheated, but he says, no. She says he’s lying, but he says he hasn’t. Call Laura; she’ll tell her. She says, Laura went to the store, and why would she know? Maybe he’s just that good. He says he’s never cheated, and she says, there are a lot of unlucky women out there. He’s man enough to go around. He thanks her, and asks if he can go back to cleaning the pool. She asks if that’s all he wants; just to be a pool boy. He says he told her that he’s a contractor, and she asks if he doesn’t want to be rich. Doesn’t he want all this? He says, it’s nice, but he’s happy with his life. She says, nobody is happy with their life. He says she’s hanging around with the wrong people. She asks if he’s sure he doesn’t want to take a load off; have a drink. He says he doesn’t drink. She asks if he’s in recovery, and he says it’s not his thing. He’s not into it. He thanks her, and goes back to work. She says she’ll have him drinking, cheating, cussing, and in her bed in no time. She could use a man like him. Kind of dumb, but pretty. He doesn’t have to talk.

Candace let’s Mitch in, and thanks him for coming. He says, she calls, he comes, and asks, what’s going on? She says, Benny. What did Mitch say to him? Mitch says he told Benny that he had the wrong guy and had bogus information. Why? She says, Benny is acting strange. He’s too calm. It’s as if they’d never talked about Derrick being a rapist. Benny is up to something. Mitch says, with Derrick? and she says, yeah. Mitch guesses Benny fell for it, but Candace isn’t sure, and asks Mitch to keep an eye on him. He says she could have asked on the phone, and she says she just wanted company. Not like that. He ask if she’s okay, and she says she’s just trying to clear her mind. Mitch says, of what? and she says, of him. He says, Mr. President? and she says, yeah, but she doesn’t want to talk about him. Mitch says, sometimes it’s good to talk about things like this, but she says she can’t. He asks, why not? and she shakes her head. He says, oh man. The last time he saw that face was when they broke up. He thinks she loves Charles, but she says, no. What does it matter? He says, it matters a lot, and she says Charles treated her like sh*t, so there’s that. He asks what Charles did exactly, and she says, before or after he had her escorted out of his house, and put her in the car trunk? Mitch says, not cool. Sorry about that. He knows her, so talk to him. She says she’s still in love with Charles. He had her believe everything they went through was over, and he also had her believe they’d be together through thick and thin, but when the thick started to happen… Mitch says he gets it, but she’s got to understand, he’s the President Elect. A guy in that position’s got a choice to make. She says, he didn’t have to lie, and Mitch says, he made a choice. She says she wanted to be that choice, and he says he’s sorry. She says she believed him, and believed her dream had come true. The truth is, she’s done so much sh*t in her life, no matter how far she runs away and thinks it’s behind her, it will always hunt her down. He says she’s a strong woman. She’ll always have that, and she’ll be fine. Take the money she’s got and start over. But don’t be surprised if Mr. President shows his face again. She says, that’s what Landon said, and Mitch says, maybe he’s right. She says she doesn’t think so, but you never know. Mitch looks at the bottles on the table, and says they have drinks sitting there; he might as well have one. I say, that’s probably $80. He asks if she wants one, but she says, no. He says he’ll make himself a double. She tells him, don’t drink too much, and he says, okay, mom. He tells her, she’s beautiful, and she’ll be fine. He’ll check on Benny. He downs his drink, and she thanks him. He thanks her for the drink, kisses her cheek, and leaves.

A guy walks into Madison’s apartment, and starts taking off his clothes. Jeffrey comes out of the bathroom in a towel, and the guy says he was just about to join him. He realizes it’s not Madison, and says, sorry. Jeffrey asks who he is, and he says, Colby. Who’s he? Jeffrey says, a friend of Madison’s. Colby says he’s embarrassed, and Jeffrey says, obviously he knows Madison pretty well to walk in and get naked. Colby apologizes, and says he knows where Madison leaves the key. He asks if Jeffrey is dating Madison, but Jeffrey says, no. Colby says, then he’s like an escort? and Jeffrey says, no. Colby says Jeffrey looks like a guy he knows who’s a stripper; Leo. Jeffrey says he’s not him, and Colby says, okay, sorry. He’s just going to go. Jeffrey says he was just leaving, and asks how Colby knows Madison. Colby says, he’s a friend, and Jeffrey asks, what kind? Colby says, his ex, and Jeffrey asks how long he and Madison were together. Colby says, about a year, and Jeffrey asks, what happened? Colby says they both decided it was best if they went in different directions. Jeffrey says, but he’s still coming over for sex? and Colby says, sometimes. He’s said too much. He asks again if Jeffrey and Madison are dating, and Jeffrey says he asked already; no. Colby says, so it’s just hook-up sex. Jeffrey asks Colby to please finish putting on his clothes, and Colby asks if he’s turning Jeffrey on. Jeffrey tells him, put his clothes on, and Colby says, can Jeffrey? Jeffrey says he’s got to get going, and Colby asks, why the rush? Jeffrey says he has a lunch date – with Madison. Colby asks if Jeffrey is thinking what he’s thinking. They can both say hi together. Jeffrey says he’d love that. Colby asks if Jeffrey wants to ride with him; he has a nice bike. Jeffrey declines, and Colby says he’ll go with Jeffrey then. He asks Jeffrey to drop his towel. He wants to see what Jeffrey is hiding; his ass is out of this world. Jeffrey says Colby’s is too, and Colby says, squats… and lots of sex. Jeffrey says he’ll get changed, and Colby asks if he needs help. Jeffrey says he’s good, and Colby says he has skin like honey. Jeffrey says he’s heard that before, and Colby asks if he’s sure he’s not Leo.

Jim asks what David found out, but David says he wasn’t able to get any information from the police; they need to talk to Jim. Jim says, dammit, and David gives him a note, saying, it’s the password. Jim thanks him, and David calls the tracking company. He says he has Jim on the line, and Jim takes the phone. He says he has the password, but then looks at David, and says, this can’t be right. David says it is, Jim tells the tracking rep, thank you Jesus, and they laugh. Jim says he needs to know where the car is. They have his phone on file; ping it. Almost immediately, he gets an update, and tells David, it’s at 2343 Western. David says, that’s the Malone place, but Jim says, Wyatt’s not that stupid. David insists it’s the Iron Bone, and Jim says he needs to get out. He tries to sit up, and says he needs to find his son. David says Jim can’t run after Wyatt; he was just shot. Jim says David ran after Veronica after she tried to burn him, but David says, he’ll handle it. Jim agrees, and thanks him. He tries to call Mama Rose, and says, the phone’s been disconnected. She’s had the same number for 30 years. David says he’ll go over there. Stay calm. He’ll call with an update.

Tanner asks, what makes Justin do that? Justin says, what? and Tanner says, with other men. Justin says he doesn’t know, and Tanner says, no brother of his is a queer. Justin says he’s not queer, and Tanner says, gay then. Justin says he’s not gay, and Tanner says that’s not what he heard; Justin is gay and disgusting. Justin says he’s sorry for disappointing Tanner. He doesn’t know how he got like this. Tanner says he told Justin to stop playing with his cousins, and playing with pom-poms. Justin says he was six years old, and Tanner asks if he’s defending what he did. Justin says he’s just saying, and Tanner says he told Justin what it was to be a man, didn’t he? Does Justin know how bad it looks on him? Justin says it has nothing to do with Tanner, but Tanner says, it has everything to do with him. Their dad died, and he was the man of the house, and Justin wanted to act like a little girl, a p*ssy. He toughened Justin up. Remember what he did? Justin enjoyed it. Justin says he didn’t. She was fifteen and he was six. Tanner asks what’s wrong with Justin? He was fifteen too. Justin says he was six the first time he was with a girl; it’s not the same. Tanner says he’s going to fix this thing. Justin can’t be this, understand? It’s killing him and their mom and Justin’s wife. He told them that he’d talk to Justin, and he’d get himself together, understand? Justin says, yeah, and Tanner says he loves Justin. Wow. He has a funny way of showing it.

David walks into the Iron Bone, and approaches Sandy at the bar. He says he’s there to see… and Sandy says, nobody; they’re closed. David asks if Sandy knows who he is, but Sandy says he doesn’t care; they’re closed. David asks where Mama Rose is, and Sandy asks if David didn’t hear what he said. They’re not open. David says there’s a car outside that belongs to Wyatt Cryer, and he needs to find him. Has he been there? Sandy asks if David is hard of hearing, and tells the bouncers to take David out. David says, okay, and the bouncers steer him to the door. Sandy says, don’t come back. Vinny walks in while he’s on the phone. He asks someone if they’re sure about it, and thanks them. He sits down and looks at Sandy. Sandy says, sorry, Uncle Vin, and Vinny asks what he’s sorry about. Sandy says he’ll get better, and Vinny says, yes, he will. Sandy promises, and Vinny says, Mama Rose is retiring, and Mitch doesn’t want to be in the family business. He’s all that’s left, and he’ll be damned if he’ll let the Jews and Blacks take over. Sandy’s got no kids; he has five. Sandy and Mitch have nothing, and family is everything. Sandy had better start. Sandy says, he’s on it, and Vinny says Sandy said that about the girl who just had an abortion. Sandy says he didn’t know she was doing it, and Vinny says, there are a lot of things he doesn’t know. Vinny pats Sandy on the back, and says, got to get better, kid.

Hanna looks at paperwork at the Cryers, and rubs her forehead. There’s a knock at the door, and Marty comes in. He asks how she’s doing. He heard there was a break in, and she says, at least they got the door fixed. He asks if anything was taken, and she says a lot of Kathryn’s jewelry. He asks if they know who did it, and she says, Wyatt. He says, Wyatt is in jail, but Hanna says, it was him. Marty says he met with the accountant, and he wants to go over some stuff. He asks if they can set up a time. How about tonight? She agrees, and he asks if she’s starting to get the hang of this, but she says, it’s a lot of information. He tells her, don’t try to do it all at once. It takes people years to learn. She says she doesn’t have years; she was thrown into this position. He tells her, have faith, and she thanks him.

Kendrick (yep, misheard his name last week, and again wish they would all wear nametags) gives Kathryn some food wrapped in tin foil. She says, clearly, they don’t want her going to the cafeteria, and asks if he has any word on her son. Kendrick tells her, the hospital said he’s okay. She says, thank God, but he says, there’s been another problem. She says she thought everything was okay, and Kendrick says, he escaped. Apparently, he got out of his cuffs, and walked straight out. There was a break-in at her place, and it was him. He’s sorry. Kathryn asks if she can make a phone call, but he says, sorry, but they said she can’t. He needs his job. His wife just had a child, and he just started. She asks if he can make a call for her, but he says he doesn’t want to lose his job. She asks how much they’re paying him, and he says, fifty. She says, a year? How is he supposed to survive on that? He says he lives a modest life, and she says she can get him anything he needs if he’ll just help her. He says he doesn’t need anything, but she says she’ll get him money; just make a phone call for her. He says, okay, but he’ll come back after his shift change; his boss there. He’s not supposed to be talking to her. He jets, and a man walks over to Kathryn’s cell. He says he’s Chief Shepherd, and she says, finally, someone in charge. She needs to talk to him about the conditions in there. He says she’s not at a hotel, and she says she knows, but she’s been sleeping on a bench every night. He says she’s in jail, and she’s there for her own safety. She asks what he means, and he asks if she’d like to go to prison. She says, no, but she’d like to sleep on something other than a bench. He says, it’s as nice as it’s going to get. He needs to go look into an officer who was shot on duty. She says she needs him to look into something more comfortable. He says as soon as she looks into that million dollars. She asks what he’s talking about, and he says, he was told someone asked her for a million dollars for her son, and she refused. Kathryn says, so he’s working for her. He says he doesn’t know what she means, and she says he’s on her payroll. Tell that bitch she’s never paying any money. He says, what if he told her that her son was with them? She says she’d tell him that he’s lying. He asks if she wants to take that chance, and she says she’s not paying a dime. He doesn’t scare her, and she will get even. He says he doesn’t know what she means. He’ll try to make her more comfortable. He walks down the hallway, and makes a phone call. He says, she said no, and hangs up.

The realtor is on the phone in her office, and says, please stop; she has to work. Benny comes in, and she tells him that she pulled the listing. He asks if she’s okay; she looks like she’s been crying. She says, allergies, and gives him a folder to look at. She leaves, and his phone rings. He says, yo, and Veronica asks if that’s any way to talk. He asks what she wants, and she says he asked for information on Derrick, and he says he already got it. She says, then he doesn’t want it, and he says, just tell him. She says Derrick was in jail in Savannah. She thinks it’s his guy. He said he wanted to know about the guy who raped his mom. He asks how she knows, and she says she’s Veronica. She knows these things. He asks for the address, saying he’s going to kill Derrick, and she hangs up.

Next time – October 6thretribution is coming; Veronica tells Benny that Derrick has a record as long as his penis; Kathryn says she might be in jail, but she’s still Kathryn Cryer; Veronica tells Samuel that she loves covered in sweat; Benny asks Mitch why he lied; and Benny finds Derrick.

🌅 The Sun Also Rises…

But maybe I can get to bed before it does. Meet me for some tea tomorrow, but in the meantime, stay safe, stay high-spirited, and stay eating your leafy greens.
