January 15, 2024 – The State Of New York Versus Esme Prince, Stuck For the Final Charter On Deck & Dream

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Kristina goes to Sonny’s office and sees him concentrating at his desk. She says, that’s some serious reading he’s got going on there. She knows he wasn’t expecting her, so if it’s a bad time… He says he’s always happy to see her. It’s a never a bad time. He hugs her and says, her timing’s always perfect. He looks over to see the wedding photo of him and Nina, out of the frame and lying on the desk.

The reception nurse tells Nina that Cyrus is in room 1002. Dex watches has she goes into Cyrus’s room. Cyrus says, look who we have here. The Lord has blessed him with a beautiful visitor. She says, keep the Lord out of this. This is between her and him.

At the courthouse, Laura says she was hoping to run into Ava. Can they talk for a minute? Ava says, of course (🍷). What can she do for Laura? Laura says, drop the charges against Esme, and Ava asks, why would she do that?

Josslyn knocks at Adam’s door and says she really needs to talk to him. A guy answers the door and tells her that she can stop knocking. Adam’s not here. He left a few minutes ago. She says she really needs to see him. Did he say where he was going? The guy says he’s not Adam’s keeper. He stormed out of here with his guitar and my vodka. Josslyn thanks him and dashes off.

Ava tells Laura that she’s sorry, but she has no intention of dropping the charges. Esme deserves this. In fact, she deserves far worse after everything she did to hurt Trina. Laura says, that is a completely separate issue. Let her answer for those crimes when the time comes. Ava’s phone rings and she says she’s so sorry. She really has to take this. Laura goes into the courtroom and asks how Esme is holding up. Esme says she’d be a lot better if Spencer was here with Ace like he promised. Where is he?

Spencer says, father, and Nikolas says, hello, Spencer.

Cyrus says, Nina seems to be angry with him, and she says, you think? He says, but why? He helped her unburden her conscience. She says, he lied about being a priest, he listened to her confession, he ruined her marriage, he destroyed her relationship with her daughter. What did he expect, a thank you note? He says, it was all going to come out eventually. All he did was help her hasten the inevitable, and doesn’t she feel better without all the crushing weight of guilt hanging over her? She says, actually, she doesn’t. Did he feel better after he was sent to prison as punishment for his crimes? He says, she’s lashing out. He understands. The truth hurts, but just give it time. Now the healing process can occur.

Sonny asks, to what does he owe the honor of Kristina’s visit? but she says she doesn’t actually have a reason. She just wanted to say hi. He says, usually she’s so busy with everything going on, she can’t get away in the middle of the day. She says, everything is on track with the surrogacy. She just wanted to check on him. He says, so this isn’t just a drop-in. She’s checking up on him. She says, he’s had a lot going on. Everything with Nina, and getting arrested, Bobbie Spencer’s funeral… She just wanted to make sure he was okay. He says, that’s very thoughtful. He’s fine. She asks if he’s sure, and he says, yeah. He’s her dad, so she has to listen to what he says, and she says, the support thing works both ways. He’s always been there for her, and she can tell when something’s not okay. This is exactly where she needs to be right now.

On a park bench, Adam strums his guitar, when Josslyn comes along. She says she thought she’d find him here, and he says, why? Because she knows him so well? Or does she read his mind? He takes a sip from the bottle of vodka, and she sits down. She says she knows he’s mad, but if he would just let her explain herself… He says, it doesn’t matter. She doesn’t need to come up with some stupid excuse for narcing on him. It’s all right. What’s done is done. She says, it wasn’t narcing on him. She’s worried about him. She was just trying to get him some help. He says, if she was really his friend, she’d see that he wants to be alone. Go away. She says, no. That’s not how this works. It’s because she’s his friend that she’s staying.

Trina walks into the courthouse, and Ava says she didn’t know if Trina was going to be here or not. She takes it that Trina leaving the hospital is a good sign. Trina says, the best, and Ava says, Curtis is okay? Trina says, yeah. He’s already awake and talking to them. Ava says she’s so glad to hear it, and Trina says, they’re all so relieved. Now they’re just waiting to see if the surgery will help him walk again. Ava says, of course (🍷). Be sure to tell everyone in her family that she’s thinking of them. Trina says she will. Actually, she got to talk to her dad after his surgery, and he reminded her how important it is to focus on her future. So that’s exactly what she’s going to do.

Laura says she’s sure Ace and Spencer are on their way over, but she needs Esme to focus on herself right now. She knows she’s the one who convinced Esme to confess, and she completely understands that Esme would blame her for the trouble she’s in right now. Esme says, it’s fine. It’s not on Laura. It’s her own fault she’s in trouble. She’s the one who’s messed up, yet again. She guesses now all that’s left to do is pray for a miracle. Martin walks in, and Laura says, maybe one can be arranged.

Nikolas walks into the apartment and tells Spencer that he looks good. Spencer thanks him and says he is. Nikolas says he’s glad. Is Ace here? Spencer says, he’s asleep in his room, and Nikolas says he understands Spencer stepped up to take great care of his brother since he’s been gone. Thank you. Spencer says, Nikolas doesn’t need to thank him for loving his little brother, and Nikolas says, he just meant that Spencer could have let himself get caught up in who his mother is and how he came to be, and just handed him off to his grandmother. Instead, Spencer has taken great care of him. Spencer says, Nikolas has been keeping tabs on them? and Nikolas says he guesses he deserves Spencer’s surprise on that. He had to leave. They would have put him in prison. And although it seems like he never looked back, just because he wasn’t here doesn’t mean he stopped caring about Spencer and Ace. Spencer says he wasn’t sure how Nikolas felt about him, given the way they left things. After all, he did try to blackmail Nikolas into handing over custody of Ace. Nikolas says, that was very Cassadine of him, and they laugh. Spencer says he did what he thought was best for his little brother, and he’s thought so much about what he’d say to Nikolas if he ever saw him again. Nikolas says, if? and Spencer says, given the way they left things, he wasn’t so sure. He played out so many different scenarios in his head; where they’d be and how it would go. This time, seeing Nikolas standing here in front of him… Nikolas says, Spencer realizes how much he hates him. He doesn’t blame Spencer. He knows he failed Spencer and Ace. He left them both, and he deserves everything Spencer has coming for him, and he’s ready to take it. Spencer tells him, there’s only one thing left to say. He’s sorry.

Martin says, ADA Lansing-Davis, and Molly says hello to him and Laura. She asks how she can help them, and Martin says he was hoping they could discuss a deal for his client. He meant her and him; no impropriety intended. Laura says she’s just here as a grandmother. Her position as mayor should have no bearing on the conversation. Molly says, understood. With regard to the case, his client confessed to breaking and entering. It’s open and shut. Laura says, but Esme took responsibility for her crimes. She turned herself in. Nobody was hurt. There should be some leniency in a situation where a young woman has memory loss… Martin asks if she minds if he takes it from here, and Laura says, sorry. She leaves, and Molly says, the law is clear. Ava Jerome has decided to press charges and her office has the responsibility to pursue a conviction. He says, in that case, she should know he intends to advise his client to plead not guilty, which means there’s going to be a trial, and eventually she’s going to take that stand and get to tell her whole sordid story, complete with waterworks, he’s sure. Now correct him if he’s wrong, but juries tend to be sympathetic to young women who’ve been held captive against their will. Is she sure she’s going to get that conviction under those circumstances?

Ava tells Trina, that’s amazing news. Paris, and with Spencer? It’s so romantic, right? Long walks together along the Sienne. Visiting the Louvre together. Candlelit dinners with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Trina says, Ava is making her even more excited. She can’t believe this is really happening. Ava says, Trina deserves every second of it. That’s exactly why she decided to press charges against Esme. So Trina could see her brought to justice and finally close that chapter of her life.

Nikolas says he doesn’t understand. Spencer is sorry? For what? Spencer says he assumes Nikolas knows by now that Esme’s biological parents are Ryan Chamberlain and Heather Webber. Nikolas says he’s aware, yes. It’s both shocking, and given her behavior, not surprising at all. Spencer says, Esme conspired with her psychotic father to tear their family apart, and he fell right into her hands. And he’s sorry. Nikolas says, it wasn’t Spencer’s fault. Esme manipulated him, something they’re both very good at. Spencer says, little things that didn’t make sense. He was so blinded by his need to get back at Nikolas, he just didn’t see that. He made it very easy and he regrets that. Nikolas says he appreciates Spencer’s apology, but it’s not necessary. He bears responsibility for their failed relationship. He should have tried harder to make things better between them. Sure, Ryan and Esme might have been trying to destroy their relationship, but he gave them an opening. He let Esme get in his head about his marriage. And he slept with her. And he kept Esme prisoner at Windymere. Those were his choices, even if Ryan and Esme were pulling the strings. Spencer says, Nikolas hurt him, no doubt, but now he can see Nikolas hurt himself just as much. Nikolas says, maybe more. Now all he can do is take responsibility for his actions. Spencer says, like abandoning his newborn son so he could avoid going to prison?

Adam gets up and is about to take a swig from the vodka bottle, but Josslyn stops him. He tells her not to touch him. He doesn’t want her help. She says, this is exactly why she went to the RA. He’s not okay and she didn’t know what else to do. He says, she’s just like his parents. They don’t care about him. They just want to make him someone else’s problem. He takes a drink, and she snatches the bottle away from him, saying, that’s not why she did it. She’s worried about him. He needs to get some help. He says, nothing matters. He’s miserable… all the time. She can’t change that.

Nina says, healing. That’s what Cyrus thinks is about to happen here? This was all about him getting back at Sonny. He found an opportunity to use her to get back at Sonny and he took it. He says, she’s wrong. He has no quarrel with Sonny or his family. He simply saw two children of God hurt by lies and he wanted to ease their pain. She says, by listening to her confession under false pretenses, and he says, it was the best way for her to begin her journey to a life of authenticity. He has no ill will toward her, and if her marriage is floundering, he’s sorry. She tells him to spare her these empty words. If he’s truly sorry, prove it.

Sonny says he appreciates that Kristina is willing to spend time with her dad. She has one of the biggest hearts he knows, and he’s proud to be her father. But he’s fine. She says, as long as he says so, but if and when he needs her, know that she’s there. He says, she doesn’t have to worry about him. He’s been through a lot, and it takes a lot to keep him down. She says, it sure does. He’s one of the strongest people she’s ever met. He’s always been her rock and to think of him going to prison for assaulting Cyrus? Sonny flashes back to Dex saying, killing Cyrus gets rid of the man, but not necessarily the charges against him. The DA may even up the charges to manslaughter, saying Cyrus died as a result of his injuries. Sonny tells Dex that he wants to send a message; nobody crosses Sonny Corinthos. Dex tells him, there’s DNA. His knuckles are proof. Sonny asks if Kristina trusts him, and she says, always. He says he’s not going to prison, because he has a family who needs him. And he’s going to do everything he can to make sure he takes care of all of them.

At the hospital, now wearing scrubs, Dex’s phone dings, and he sends a text: On my way. The reception nurse says, he looks lost. Can she help him find out where he’s supposed to be? He says, no. He’s all good. She says, he’s supposed to be wearing a badge. Who is he? Dex says, he’s a temp orderly. It’s his first day. He must have left his badge in the locker room. He’s sorry. The nurse says she guesses it’s okay just this one time, but he’s not supposed to be on his phone while he’s working. He puts his phone in his pocket and says he appreciates her help.

Nina says, Cyrus thought that she needed to come clean to the people she hurt in her life in order to move on. He also told her that it wasn’t enough to feel sorry for lying to them, that she had to back it up with action. Isn’t that right? He tells her that he did say that, and she says, it’s time to practice what he preaches. If he’s truly sorry, he needs to make amends. He says he admits his apology might ring hollow to her without an accompanying act of contrition, and she says, there is something he can do. Drop the charges against Sonny.

Sonny tells Kristina that he’s been through a lot worse, and he always survives. She knows that, doesn’t she? She says, yeah, she knows. She believes in him, but she’s worried about him, even if for just selfish reasons. He says, what’s going on? and she says she’s afraid he’s not going to be here for her when she needs him. She can’t imagine going through this whole surrogacy thing with Molly and TJ without him here. He says, that’s not going to happen. He’s going to be here by her side the whole time. But she has to know she’s strong enough to do it on her own. She wipes tears away and says she knows. She thanks him and says, there was a time when she never would have had the courage to think of herself for Molly and TJ’s surrogacy. She would have just thought there was someone else, someone better. She never would have thought she could do it, but Sonny helped her see that she was capable of doing big, important, life changing things. He’s helped her find confidence in herself. That’s because of him. She takes his hand.

Trina says, Ava pressed charges against Esme for her? and Ava says she did, but Trina doesn’t seem very happy about it. Trina says she’s not sure how she feels about it. There’s a child involved. If Esme goes to prison, that little boy will be separated from his mother because of her. Ava says, Esme may be Ace’s mother, but she’s still the same conniving manipulator she’s always been. All she wants is for Trina to get fraction of the justice she’s due after everything Esme has put her through. then she can move on with her life without the burden of Esme Prince.

The bailiff says, all rise, and Ava and Trina go into the courtroom. The bailiff tells everyone, be seated, and the judge says, in the matter of the State of New York versus Esme Prince, how does the defendant plead?

Nikolas says, Spencer is right. He did abandon Ace, but Ace wasn’t the only son he walked out on. Spencer says he’s used to Nikolas disappearing by now, and Nikolas says he wants Spencer to know he regrets it. All of it. He hasn’t been a very good father to Spencer, and he doesn’t expect Spencer to forgive him for any of it. While he was away, he thought a lot about Spencer, about them. When he found out Spencer was his son and not Jax’s, he swore he was going to be the best dad anyone ever had, that Spencer would have the most normal childhood Nikolas could give him, and that Spencer would always know how much he loved him, but he failed at all that. But you can’t change the past, no matter how much you want to. It wasn’t all bad though, right? They had their moments. Some of his favorite memories are of him and Spencer when Spencer was very young. Spencer cries and says, Nikolas was his whole world. He loved Nikolas so much. Nikolas cries and says he loved Spencer too, fiercely. And no matter what else has happened between them, he wants Spencer to know that will never change. Ace cries from the other room, and Nikolas says, sounds like Ace is awake. Can he meet him?

Adam says, Josslyn doesn’t know what it’s like to be him, so stop pretending she does. She says, it’s true. She doesn’t have the same problems as he does. So maybe she’s not the best person to give him advice. But someone out there does understand if he’d just talk to them. Just come back to the dorms and get some sleep. They can figure out his next step together. He starts to nod off and falls into her lap. She sees some empty pill packets and shakes him, saying his name. She says, he’s got to wake up. Please.

Josslyn calls 9-1-1 and tells them that Adam has passed out. He’s been drinking vodka, and she thinks he took a bunch of pills. They’re in Rice Park, in an opening behind the Great Lawn. She’s going to put the phone down, but she’s staying on the line. She lightly smacks Adam’s face and tells him that he’s got to talk to her. Can he hear her? She gets no response.

Cyrus says he wishes he could help Nina, but he has no power over law enforcement. She says she doesn’t believe that, not for a second. He got Sonny into trouble; he can get Sonny out of trouble. Isn’t one of the tenets of his religion to forgive others just as God forgives you? He says, it is, but that doesn’t change the fact he’s Sonny’s victim. Sonny assaulted him. Why shouldn’t he seek justice? She says, because she can offer him something he wants more.

Sonny says, as much as he’d like to take all the credit for Kristina becoming such an amazing woman, they have to give her mom a little bit of credit. She says she knows mom supports her, of course (🍷), but what she gets from him is different. He says, she and her mom have a complicated relationship. He doesn’t want to get in the middle of it, but never doubt how much her mom believes in her. She asks if he and her mom have been talking about her, and he says, of course (🍷). Alexis always had misgivings about the situation. She didn’t know how complicated it was going to be, but it always came from love with Kristina and Molly. She never doubted who Kristina was or how much she was helping her sister. Kristina says she knows that now, but when Alexis first came at her with all these questions, whether or not she knew what she was doing or getting herself into, it took her back to all those times before when Alexis would underestimate her. It was like she would wait on the sidelines for Kristina to screw it up. Sonny asks if she’s ever talked to Alexis about it, but Kristina says, there’s no point now. It’s different. It’s different now because she’s different. She knows who she is and she knows she’s capable of meeting big challenges in her life. It’s kind of like how Sonny is so much better than the reputation that precludes him. People who don’t know him just assume he’s who they read about in the paper or what they see on the news. They have no idea how generous and kind he is, and how he’d do absolutely anything for the people he loves. And he’s always had this code of ethics, this unspoken code, that he lives by, and she feels like it almost got stronger from his time in Nixon Falls. Of course (🍷) she attributed that to Nina, but she guesses she was wrong there.

The judge asks how Esme pleads, and she says, guilty. He says, let the record reflect the defendant has entered a guilty plea. He understands a deal was struck just before this hearing began. Molly gets up and says, correct, your honor. In exchange for the defendant’s guilty plea, the DA’s office is seeking six months probation with no jail time. Ava jumps up and says, what? but the judge bangs his gavel and says, order. This court doesn’t tolerate outbursts. He asks counsel to approach the bench, and Martin and Molly go up front. Ava stomps over to Laura and asks, what the hell happened? Laura says she advocated for justice and the rest is up to the judge.

Spencer brings Ace out and says, this is your dad. Nikolas says, it’s so wonderful to finally meet him, and Spencer hands Ace to him. Nikolas says, he’s so big, and Spencer says, he’s a year old now. Nikolas says, he looks like Spencer. He has their ears, and Spencer’s grandmother’s nose. He cries as he rocks Ace and says, look at you.

Sonny tells Kristina, there are things that happened in Nixon Falls that continue to influence him. Nina wasn’t the only one. She says she liked Nina. She even forgave her for keeping him from them for so long. They were all so happy at the wedding, it felt like it was a fresh start. He says he thought it was, and she says, she was so vindictive with what she did to Carly and Drew, but she wasn’t after Drew; she was just trying to hurt Carly. And in the end, Nina didn’t get anything she wanted, and it cost her everything. Sonny flashes back to punching out Cyrus, then telling Dex to take care of him. He tells Kristina, sometimes we’re blinded by our own pain, and she says she’s the queen of reactionary behavior and lashing out. That’s why she admires Sonny so much. Nina couldn’t see the right path, but Sonny always has his eyes peeled.

Nina says, Cyrus has something she wants and she’s willing to give him anything he asks for in return. As far as she remembers, bargaining is still allowed in his religion. Is she right? He says, man does not live by bread alone, and she laughs, saying, certainly not him. He says, there may be some circumstances where a tithing is considered appropriate, and she asks if this is one of them.

The judge says, the court has heard from both attorneys and looked at the facts in the case. He’s satisfied that the deal was made in good faith and in accordance with the law. Esme Prince, I sentence you to the recommended six months probation. Esme breathes a sigh of relief, and he says, court’s adjourned. The bailiff says, all rise, and the judge leaves. Ava asks Molly, what the hell was that? and Molly says she understands Ava is upset. Ava says, Molly’s damn right she’s upset. She was the victim of a crime. Her house was broken into. Her safety was put at risk, and now Esme Prince gets to ride off into the sunset with probation? This is a travesty of justice. Molly says, Esme admitted to her crimes and showed remorse for her actions. No one was hurt in the crime, and it’s against the city’s best interest to try a case for such a relatively minor charge. Ava might not like it, but justice was served today. Molly leaves, and Ava tells Trina, this isn’t over. Not by a long shot.

Esme tells Martin, a few hours ago, everything was helpless. Now he was able to keep her out of prison. She can’t thank him enough. He says, she should thank Laura. She’s the one who convinced him to approach Ms. Lansing-Davis with the deal. But make no mistake. Esme is on probation now. She needs to be on her best behavior for the next six months or she will be looking at jail time. She says, understood, and he says, there’s no wiggle room here. She doesn’t so much as put a toe over the line.

Nikolas says, he’s such a peaceful little guy, and Spencer says he’s surprised. He doesn’t usually take to strangers this quickly. He thinks Ace really likes Nikolas. Nikolas says, then he’s a very lucky man. He’s made so many bad decisions, so many wrong turns. But no matter what he’s done wrong, he needs Ace to know he’s a part of him, the very best part, and always will be. Spencer says, father… stay.

Adam is put on a stretcher, and Josslyn hands the empty packets to a paramedic, saying, she thinks he took these. She doesn’t know how many, but he washed them down with vodka. The EMT says he’ll pass this on to the doctor, and she asks if Adam is going to be okay, but they’re already moving.

Dex sees Nina leave Cyrus’s room.

Sonny calls Dex and gets voicemail. Sonny says he needs Dex to call it off. Don’t do it.

Laura asks how Esme is feeling, and she says, much better than she expected. She really thought she’d be in jail tonight. Laura says, she and Ace both are very happy she’s not, and Esme thanks her. She doesn’t know what magic Laura was able to pull, but Laura saved her. Laura says, it did get a little dicey there for a while, but she’s just glad it all worked out in the end. Tell her something. Is Esme happy she did the right thing? Esme says she’s glad she listened to Laura, and Laura says, good. Then listen to her on this other thing too. Now that she knows she’s been given probation, leave her past behind her and focus on her future. Esme says she will, and Laura’s phone dings. She says, duty calls. She has to run. She’s just so glad Esme gets to go home tonight. Esme says, her too, and Laura leaves. Esme turns around and sees Trina standing there.

Spencer says, Nikolas is in a lot of legal trouble now because of keeping Esme prisoner. Elizabeth was able to cut a deal. Maybe he can too. Nikolas says, there were extenuating circumstances for Elizabeth. He was the mastermind of the whole thing. He doubts the justice system will treat the two of them the same way. Spencer says, maybe not, but he does have the resources to retain Diane Miller, and she’s been keeping his Uncle Sonny out of prison for years. He thinks it’s at least worth a conversation. Maybe she can argue that he did what he had to in order to protect Ace… What? Nikolas doesn’t say anything, and Spencer says, he has no intention of staying in Port Charles, does he? Nikolas says he can’t, and Spencer says he should have known Nikolas was just passing through. Nikolas says, this time, it’s different, and Spencer asks, how so? Nikolas says, because this time he’s taking his sons with him.

Tomorrow, Trina says, Esme deserves to be punished for her crimes; Spencer says, it’s Nikolas’s only option, but not his; Nina says she’ll do anything for the man she loves; and Dex puts a syringe in Cyrus’s IV tube.

Below Deck Mediterranean

Captain Sandy texts Haleigh, asking how she’s feeling, and Haleigh texts back that it’s been a rough couple of days. She calls and says she’s feeling better, and on her way back. Captain Sandy asks if she’s 100%, and Haleigh says she’s 101%. The captain says, they need able seamen, and radios Lara to stay in her cabin until she gets a doctor. The captain radios Luka, Tumi, and Jack for the final preference sheet meeting. Primary Victor is a neurosurgeon in Columbus, Ohio. He and his friends want a luxury vacation. Jack reads that they want a tasting menu and wine pairing, and Tumi says, the want to go to a local beach club and enjoy a foam party. Then in the evening, have a Hollywood glam red-carpet party. Captain Sandy says she wants to end on a high note. They can do this. In Tumi’s interview, she says, it’s the last charter and the last impression the captain will have of her. She’s hoping for one smooth charter. She hopes for a lot.

Provisions come in, and Max apologizes to the lobster. In Tumi’s interview, she says she likes Lily. She has an amazing personality, and their beautiful black sheep has energy that she doesn’t. Haleigh comes back, and in her interview, she says, the last three days were from hell. Dealing with the shenanigans that happen on the ship is crazy, but she’ll take it ten times over barfing in a hotel room. She saw Jesus for two days, but she’s good now. Lara says, Captain Sandy wants her off the boat, and a car comes for her. In Lara’s interview, she says, it’s been a great season. She’s made so much progress personally and becoming lead deckhand. She would hate leaving at the end of the season because she’s sick and missing the last charter. I’ll be back, bitches. Max makes fun of Lily wanting to cuddle, and says he forgives her. She was drunk. The captain calls Luka to the bridge and shows him a warning on the screen. She says, there are large waves, 3 meters. In her interview, she says, the wind blowing kicks up the sea. She can see all the boats are docked. It’s the final charter, and they’ve had one problem after another, but if she left, she’d be a bad captain, and everyone would be seasick. She radios the crew to meet in the main salon for a pre-charter arrival meeting, and tells the crew, it’s the last one. She’s looked at the weather and it’s not even close. They’re not leaving. The news won’t land easily, so they need to think of things to do with the guests. They can still kill it. In Kyle’s interview, he says, the season has been challenging. They had a bosun with unethical papers, he and Natalya fought, they got a new person, Natalya left, he and Jack fought, the crew dropped like flies, Lara left, and now they can’t leave the dock. He laughs and says he didn’t realize how much happened. He’s tired.

The guests arrive, and the captain says, they’re going to get creative. She welcomes them and says, they’re happy to have them. It’s their final charter and they want to make it incredible. Tumi will show them around, then she’ll come see them and talk to them about what’s next. Tumi serves champagne and gives the tour. Bringing on the luggage, Haleigh asks if they’re moving onto the boat, and Jessika says she doesn’t think the guests are going to take the news well. Captain Sandy sees the guests are gathered at the bar and explains that they won’t be leaving the dock. Guest Laurah asks if there’s a chance they’ll be able to, but the captain says, there are gale force winds. She’s sorry, but there’s nothing she can do to control it.

The captain tells the guests that she’s sorry. She loves leaving the dock too. It’s like landing and takeoff for a pilot. No one is leaving. The marina looks normal, but offshore it’s dangerous, and there’s nothing she can do to control it. Thank God the sun is out. Laurah asks if they can jet ski, but that’s a no, and Captain Sandy says she’s challenged the crew to entertain them. In her interview, the captain says, the pressure is on the crew. They need to distract the guests. If the guests say they’re bored, it’s too late; they failed. Laurah still isn’t getting it, and says, the weather is insane, but Kyle says, they can’t even leave for another port. Tumi and Luka look online for things to do in Genoa and check out tourist stuff. In Tumi’s interview, she says, it’s easier dealing with the demands on the preference sheets, but that’s out the window. They have to come up with a new plan, but she’s not a magician. She’s got a provisioner and google, and she’s winging it. Guest Jeff wanders into the galley and wonders if he can learn to cook. Max also googles things to do, and the guests sit down for lunch. In Jack’s interview, he says, stuck on the dock, the guests are food dependent and that’s on him. Whatever he can do to make them happy, he’ll do it. He’ll give a show. He’s a ballerina and will dance on the water. Jeff’s wife Stephanie says, the kids are calling, and Jeff says he’s going to throw the phone overboard. They snipe at each other, and in her interview, Tumi says, awkward. The captain checks on the guests, and Laurah whines about the weather being nice out, so it has to be explained yet again. She asks if they can get a refund. In the laundry, Lily laughs at a dude’s tiny underwear. Captain Sandy calls Luka and Tumi to the bridge and tells them that the crew has to be with the guests at all times. It’s on them. Maybe they can take a little boat ride. Laurah gripes that there’s not even a breeze, when she should be grateful it’s not pouring rain. In Captain Sandy’s interview, she says, the crew needs to keep their foot on the gas. She has a first-time chief stew and bosun, and the guests have expectations. She’s seeing a baseline energy, but this charter requires more than that.

Captain Sandy starts googling, and Kyle suggests going to the nearest bar and letting them loose. Jack texts Natalya that they’re stuck at the dock, and Luka suggests using the tender they have in the water to cruise around the port. The captain tells Tumi and Kyle to go with the guests, and in her interview, she says, the guests need to feel like they’re being taken care of. They’ll have two department heads on the boat and need to feel attention from them. In Luka’s interview, he says, they’re going to use the backup tender they keep on the dock. At least it’s something to offer. Natalya texts Jack, asking if it’s the last charter, and Jack texts back, yes. In Jack’s interview, he says he feels like he, Natalya, and Tumi would have been the dream team. They all have an amazing work ethic. It would be a perfect world without egos. Jeff asks if they’re the only ones who have ever had to stay on dock, and in Luka’s interview, he says, they’re going to cruise around the port and show them a whole lot of nothing. It’s the world’s sh*ttiest booze cruise. In Kyle’s interview, he says, it’s so embarrassing. Wow. Shipping containers. Look at that crane. Back on the yacht, Lily does a cartwheel. In her interview, she says, Max is funny. He’s crazier than most of the guys she goes for. She doesn’t see it going anywhere off the boat, but her parents got married in 21 days. Jeff asks if they’re doing anything else, and Tumi continues to google. In her interview, she says she feels like she’s a step behind the guests. She’s going to get a car to take them to Portofino and get them off the boat for a long time. Luka tells Jessika, this is the longest day in the world, and in his interview, he says he definitely dodged a bullet with the Katie thing. We flash back to Katie texting that she’s in Portofino, and the captain teasing him about his girlfriend. Luka says he didn’t do anything wrong, but he’s glad it’s blown over. Tumi calls the provisioner about Italian dancers, and he says he booked two modern dancers for her. Jeff complains to Captain Sandy, who says she’s doing everything she can. In the captain’s interview, she says, the guests are reminding her that they’re stuck every chance they get. She doesn’t want to fail the client, but so far, the team has failed.

The captain radios Tumi to meet in the galley. She tells Tumi that the guests are not happy. She wants a game night with the crew against the guests. Lily is their gamester. We flash back to Lily playing a game with the guests, and in Lily’s interview, she says, games are her bread and butter. Seeing people happy makes her happy. The guests get in the hot tub, and in the crew mess, Lily puts a bunch of stuff together for the games. While opening a green marker, somehow, the ink flies out and everywhere, mostly on her. In Haleigh’s interview, she says, it’s like a green murder scene. In Tumi’s interview, she says she can’t be mad. It’s so her. How? Captain Sandy tells Luka that the whole crew is participating in the games, and Luka tells Jack that it feels wrong without Lara. Tumi lets Captain Sandy know she ordered dancers, and the captain calls her The Tuminator. Jeff groans that he’s going to bed, but Stephanie is waiting for him. They bicker weirdly, and he says he’s counting the hours until they fly back. Jack works on the tasting menu, and in his interview, he says he’s out of his comfort zone, but he’s been a stripper, he’s made pizza, dealt with the women from Florida, and done Dine in the Dark. Now he’ll finally get to do whatever the hell he wants. Jessika tells Lily about going to Cannes with Luka, and in her interview, she says, she’s being a sucker. Of course, she has feelings for him, but she’s being present in the moment and enjoying the time they have together. Meanwhile, in his bunk, Luka asks Natalya to send nudes. Ugh.

The dancers arrive and Tumi gets them set up. Jeff thinks Jack should get a raise. In Tumi’s interview, she says she danced until she was around 16. She liked ballet; it was calming. She won’t be calm now until she sees the guests happy. The dancers perform, and in Kyle’s interview, he says, it’s sensual and seductive. Woof. He’s been on this boat too long. In her interview, Tumi says, she doesn’t know if it was the dancers, the food, or the cocktails, but she feels like the guests’ coldness is starting to thaw. In Haleigh’s interview, she says she thinks Jack creates an excessive amount of dishes, but she’ll wash them. Tumi tells the guests that she’s thinking after breakfast, they could go to Portofino. Kyle says, it’s beautiful and only a 30-mile drive. Tumi leads the guests to the main salon where Lily says, they’re going to have a best dressed contest. They each have 30 seconds to pick what they want from her dress-up bin. This looks like a fun drinking game. Not so much Lily’s pick up the cereal box with your teeth game, which involves doing the splits to get close enough. Laurah seems to have forgotten she’s wearing no underwear, and her dress has a slit up the back. Even with the blur, I will never be able to unsee this, nor will the other guests or the crew.😧Jack texts Natalya, asking if she’s in Genoa, and she says she’s just passing through. He says, they’ll talk tomorrow. Kyle tells Tumi that the captain said she missed Natalya, and he feels pissed. She only knows one side of the story, Natalya’s side. In Kyle’s interview, he says he doesn’t think now is the time to tell the captain how he feels. He’ll has to face his own demons, but he’s had no time, and this is still triggering him. Natalya texts Luka that she’s coming to Genoa.

The guests go to bed, leaving a trail of feathers in their wake. In the morning, Kyle tells Captain Sandy that Lily was living her best life, and the guests were smiling. Luka is thrilled that the guests will be gone for the whole day, and Jack wonders what to wear to a foam party. Tumi tells him, anything his heart desires. My favorite food porn of the day, breakfast, is served. The captain asks the guests how game night was, and they tell her that Lily was fun and very flexible. Natalya texts Jack, asking to chat, and he goes out on deck. He’s wondering why she’s still there and suggests she come see them for a drink. He asks if anyone else knows, and she says, Luka. He asks if she wants him to tell everyone, but she says, don’t tell them. Kyle talks to Jessika about Natalya, and Jessika says, people who manipulate like her are scary and dangerous. In Jack’s interview, he says he’s pretty sure Kyle will be shook up. Jessika is a different ballgame, but it’s going to be explosive.

Next – the Season Finale – the guests go to the beach club; Lara returns and says, they’re going to f***ing tear up the city; Natalya joins the party; and Jessika kisses Max.

🫶🏾 He Had a Dream…

Drop in tomorrow for soap and what’s interesting and/or tea-worthy. Until then, stay safe; stay being mindful of others’ feelings, beliefs, and expectations; and stay not being so blinded by your own pain that it ends up costing you everything.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Trina plays cards with Curtis and Portia, and Portia asks what Trina is doing on her phone. She’s been texting all night. What’s going on? Who is she texting? Curtis says, only if she feels like sharing, and she says, sorry. She didn’t mean to be rude. It’s Spencer; he needs her. We see her text to him: Hang in there. You’re not alone.

There’s a knock at Sonny’s penthouse door, and Spencer lets in Alexis, thanking her for coming. She says, he told her it was important. What’s up? He says, take her pick. Esme’s been found, his father’s sunk to a new low, and Britt is dead. She says she’s really sorry about Britt, and he says, it’s so wrong that she’s gone, and it scares him that there’s someone out there who may be even more dangerous and unhinged than Esme is.

At the station, Jordan says she understands the position Dante is in, but this investigation needs a break. The interview with Britt Westbourne was helpful. They now know the killer’s wearing a mask, but she’s still on the loose. If he’d feel more comfortable, she can take the lead. He says, no. It’s all good. They need to get to the bottom of what happened to Britt Westbourne that night. She says, that they do, and she’s hoping his connection with the witness pays off.

Michael asks if Drew knows where his mom is, and Drew says, she’s with Nina. Michael says, this night’s already bad enough. Why would she talk to Nina of all people? Drew says, there’s something Michael needs to know, but Michael says, if it has to do with Nina, he’s out. Drew says, he gets it. Nina has made life difficult for him and Willow. Michael says, she’s been hounding them for months. She took them to court over Wiley, and said Willow was cheating on him. Nina can’t stay out of their lives no matter what they do.

Outside Willow’s room, Josslyn asks if Sonny has seen Michael, and he says he hasn’t, but he’s sure Michael is close. She says, something’s come up and she has to go, but she told Michael she’d stay with Willow, and she feels really bad leaving her. Sonny says he’ll stay with Willow. Go ahead and go. He’ll explain it to Michael. She says, okay, and leaves. Sonny goes into Willow’s room.

Nina says, before Carly starts, if this is about her upsetting Willow again, she didn’t go over there for that. Carly says, that’s not what this is about. As Nina knows, Willow is sick. Nina says, that’s why she and Sonny were at the chapel; they were praying for Willow. Carly says, praying is good, but Nina can do more to save Willow, and Nina says, anything she can do. Carly says, good, because Nina may be the only person on earth who can save Willow.

Portia says, Spencer needs her? and Trina says, he needs a friend. Portia says she didn’t realize Trina still considered Spencer a friend, and Trina says, Esme resurfaced, and Spencer found out she was pregnant – by his father – and then he lost Britt who he was very close to. It’s been a lot on him. Portia says she doesn’t doubt it, especially the pregnancy part. She’s sure Spencer has a lot to unpack. What about Josslyn and Cameron? Can’t they help him? Curtis says, they know how amazingly compassionate Trina is, and Portia says, of course (🍷) they’re extremely proud of Trina’s instinct to help someone in need. But she has a very giving and forgiving heart, and she’s going through a lot right now herself. Curtis says, he and her mother want to make sure she’s supported. She has a lot to process, like, how does she feel about Esme being caught? Trina says, honestly, she’s conflicted. For months, she wanted Esme to face the consequences of filming that video and framing her. Esme made her life hell. Portia says, of course (🍷) she would want justice, and Trina says she did, but she wanted more than justice. She wanted revenge, and part of her still does.

Alexis says, so Spencer is living here now? and he says he is. She says, enough about that. She assumes he’s been told the PCPD is no longer considering Esme as a suspect, and he says, yes, but that doesn’t mean she’s innocent of anything else. He’s learned not to underestimate Esme. She says, hard won wisdom, and he says he did speak with her though. She asks what Esme said, and adds, she’s asking as his aunt, not as an editor. He says, that’s cool either way. She didn’t know who he was. Either she’s a very convincing fake, or she’s got amnesia. Alexis says, or maybe it’s possible she committed the crimes and doesn’t remember. She thinks it’s smart that the PCPD moved on to other suspects. He says he almost wishes she was guilty, so he could stop worrying that someone is targeting Trina and their other friends. She says, Britt was incredibly brave, and he says he almost wishes she wasn’t. She put her life on the line, but if she’d just run away like the person she was protecting, she might have lived to fight another day. He doesn’t know.

Dante thanks Josslyn for coming to the station so quickly, and she says, he told her it was important on the phone. He says, it is; it’s about The Hook killer. She asks if they found her, and he says, not yet, but he was hoping she could help them out with some questions. She says she wants to do whatever she can to help, but will it take long? and he says he doesn’t know. Does she have somewhere to be? She says, actually, yes. She was with Willow. They walk into the interrogation room, and Jordan and Robert are there. Josslyn asks, what is this? and Jordan asks her to have a seat.

Sonny says, Willow looks so fragile, but he knows she’s anything but. He’s seen her take on Shiloh and Nelle to protect Wiley. She’s been in a jail cell… She’s a fighter. That’s why he knows she’s going to fight this. She has the best medical care, and Michael’s going to do everything he can to take care of her. He just wishes he knew how to take care of them both.

Michael tells Drew, Nina actually came to their house tonight and accused him of jeopardizing Willow’s health. She confused Wiley; she upset Willow. If he has to get a restraining order, he’ll get one. He’ll do everything in his power to keep Nina away from Wiley. Drew says, he does not want to do that. He and Carly think Nina could be a bone marrow match for Willow. Michael knows he’s been searching for Willow’s birth family, right? Michael says, don’t tell him that Nina is some distant relative, and Drew says, not so distant.

Nina says she’s happy to get tested, just like everyone else, but Carly says, she’s not like everyone else. She needs to get tested now, and needs to rush the results. Nina says she understands the urgency – Willow’s having a medical crisis – but why did Carly have to come to her personally? Carly says, because a family member has the best chance of success, and Nina is the most likely match. Nina says she and Willow aren’t related, but Carly says, they are. Nina asks if Carly is all right. They’re only connected through Wiley, and that’s only because Nelle was her daughter. Carly says, Nelle isn’t Nina’s only daughter. Willow is too.

Dante says, Josslyn knows Britt Westbourne was murdered recently by The Hook? and Josslyn says she does. Jordan says, Dr. Westbourne was nicked trying to defend someone else, and Dante says, the intended victim, the person Britt rescued… They have security footage from the docks, and they think they have a lead. He slides his tablet over, and Josslyn looks at it. He asks if she recognizes anyone, but she says, it’s grainy. He says, that footage was captured on Pier 54, at 11:57 pm, the night of December 31st; fifteen minutes before Britt called in the attack on Pier 55. Josslyn slides the tablet back, and asks, what’s the question? Jordan says, was Josslyn the intended victim the night Britt died?

Curtis says, it’s perfectly natural that Trina would want Esme to pay for her crimes, and Trina says, but she’s not sure she does anymore… at least not like she used to. They should have seen Esme when she showed up on the deck of the Haunted Star. She looked pathetic, soaking wet, shivering, pregnant. She looked completely vulnerable. Portia says, that night maybe, but that doesn’t mean she’s still not a threat. Curtis says, Esme drugged Oz Haggerty to the point he had to be put in a medially induced coma, and she’s still a suspect in The Hook killings. Trina says, no doubt Esme’s done some horrible things, but that was the old Esme. Portia asks if Trina believes Esme doesn’t remember what she’s done, and Trina says, that’s what the doctors think, right? Is it possible amnesia changed Esme?

Sonny tells says, he’s lost so many people in his life. His son can’t lose Willow. For Michael, the sun rises and sets in her eyes. She’s the mother of his children, his best friend, his soulmate. He knows Willow’s encouraged Michael to communicate with him; to meet him halfway. She’s never lost hope that they’re going to be a father and son again. Everybody needs her. The family needs her; he needs her. Losing her would mean there’s no hope of the family getting back together again.

Michael says, Nina is Willow’s birth mother? The woman who’s been antagonizing Willow since she was a teacher? And Harmony knew the whole time? How could she… Drew says he knows it’s a lot to take in, but Willow needs Michael. She needs Michael’s support. Carly wanted to tell her, but because time is of the essence… Michael says, Drew’s right. She needs to hear it from him.

Nina asks what Carly is talking about. Willow is not her daughter. Carly says she understands this is a shock. She’ll be happy to give Nina an explanation, but later. Please come to the lab… Nina says she’s not going anywhere with Carly until Carly tells her… Carly says, there’s no time, and Nina says, then talk fast. Carly says, Nina had twins, and Nina says, impossible. Carly says, no. She was in a coma. Nina says she had medical attention. Phyllis was one of her nurses. She took Nelle to Florida, and gave Nelle to the Bensons. Carly says, that was the second baby, and she’s guessing that was by design, because Madeline had to make sure she separated the babies so she could get her hands on Nina’s inheritance. Nina says she doesn’t know why Carly is doing this, but she’ll play along. If Willow was Nelle’s twin, Carly is saying Madeline handed of Willow to… Carly says, Harmony. Nina’s mother gave the baby to Harmony.

Dante says, the person in that footage looks a lot like Josslyn, and if it is her, that means she was in the vicinity of that attack. That means she could possibly help them ID the killer. Josslyn says she’d tell them if she thought she could help, and Robert says, no need to be cagey. She’s in no trouble. Jordan says, they believe Josslyn was the victim that night. It’s curious she didn’t say anything. Dante says, they think she was the intended target the night Brando was killed. If what they suspect is right, then the killer got a second shot at her on New Year’s Eve. Jordan says, if Britt hadn’t shown up, Josslyn’s family might be planning her funeral. Robert says, they can’t protect her unless she gives them all the information. Talk to them. Diane walks in, and says, not one word.

Curtis says, whether or not Esme has amnesia, Trina can’t let her guard down. Trina says she hears them. She fully believes Esme is a psycho, but not a serial killer. Portia says she’s not clear on the laws regarding memory loss, but she doesn’t think it gives Esme a free pass. She committed crimes; she’s a criminal. She needs to face the consequences of her actions. Trina tells them, that’s what Spencer said, and she doesn’t disagree. She’s not saying she’d trust Esme again, but she’s not using Esme as a means of closure. She wants to end that chapter of her life and move on. Portia asks how letting in Spencer helps her do that.

Alexis says, Spencer was closest to Esme. She didn’t have any family; is that true? He says, just adopted siblings. They’re not close, but in due time, Esme will give birth and contribute directly to her family tree. Alexis says, and ours.

Sonny says, they’re going to do everything they can to get Willow well, so she can get back to her kids and his son. Even if he’s not invited back into the fold, it doesn’t matter. He just wants them to be together and happy. Open her eyes. She can do this. Just… Michael walks in.

Nina tells Carly, who knows how Harmony got Willow? That woman was a pathological liar. Carly says, one that tried to kill her and Alexis just to keep this secret safe, and Nina says, if Harmony wanted to keep it safe, how did Carly find out? Carly says, Harmony told her the night she died, and Nina says, Carly suspected she was Willow’s mother the night Harmony died last year? Carly says, if she’d known Willow was sick, she would have said something a lot sooner, and Nina asks if she told Willow. Carly says, no, and Nina says, good, because there is no evidence beyond a troubled woman’s sick confession on her deathbed. This is irresponsible of Carly to go out and present this as truth. She kind of understands it because of what Willow is going through right now, but she’s going to do Carly a big favor. She’s going to pretend this conversation never took place. Carly says she knows for a fact Nina is Willow’s biological mother, and Nina asks, how? Carly says she has proof.

Sonny says, Josslyn was called away, and didn’t want Willow to be alone, and Michael says he appreciates Sonny being here. Sonny says, of course (🍷). He’ll leave them alone. He leaves, and Michael sits by Willow’s bedside. He says he can hear her voice in his head, telling him to go after Sonny. Life’s too short, and he’s trying. Please don’t tell him their life is going to be cut short. He needs her. She’s his conscience, the voice in his head. And he needs to hear it out loud, even if it’s scolding him. She opens her eyes, and says she’ll remind him that he said that.

Trina says, since Rory died, Spencer’s really been there for her, and Portia says, at what cost? She’ll always be grateful Spencer did the right thing in the end, but she can never forget he lied and took Esme’s side. Trina says, he was playing her, but Portia says, not the entire time. She doesn’t get how Trina can excuse that, and let him back in. How is that moving on with her life? Curtis’s phone rings, and he says he has to check in on the club. He leaves, and Trina says she understands Portia’s concerns, but her eyes are wide open. She sees how Spencer has matured this past year. Those months in Pentenville, and now losing people he loves. It’s changed him; given him purpose. He’s committed to doing better. Portia says she’s genuinely sorry for what Spencer’s going through. The way his father betrayed him is indefensible. Trina says, Spencer’s crushed. He was really tight with Britt. And his father – the only parent he has – keeps letting him down over and over again. Portia says, one of the other reasons she’s so uncomfortable with them reconnecting. The Cassadines are dangerous, even to themselves. Everyone who goes near them ends up being burned.

Alexis says she takes it Spencer isn’t thrilled with having a new sibling. Keep in mind, it’s not the baby’s fault; the baby’s innocent. He says he’s not going to hold a grudge against a baby, and she says she knows. He’s a good one. He has forgiveness and empathy. He thanks her, and says, here’s the issue. If Esme finds a way out of this, she’s going to take that baby as far away from Port Charles as possible. Alexis says, Esme’s got some serious legal trouble pending. Even if she finds a way to get over that, Spencer’s father is resolved. He wants full custody.

In the squad room, Dante says he should have known Josslyn was going to call Diane. She’s Carly’s daughter. She’d probably never talk to the police without a lawyer present. Jordan says, Diane looks to be in fighting form, and Robert says, killer Miller. Diane comes out of the interrogation room, asking if she hears her name. Her client is ready to give a statement. They all go back in, and Jordan says, she wanted to keep this informal. Diane asks if that’s why she had Josslyn’s stepbrother call her down her and ambush her, with the District Attorney and the Commissioner. They know the rules. They can’t compel a potential witness to say anything. Robert says, there’s no need to pull out the heavy artillery; they’re just talking. Diane says, her client is ready to make a statement. The moment this turns into an interrogation, she pulls the plug. Josslyn says she was on Pier 55 at midnight on New Year’s. Someone did come at her with a hook. She doesn’t know who; she was wearing a mask. She tried to get away, but she was in heels. She fell down, and The Hook was basically on top of her. She was going to stab Josslyn, then Britt came out of nowhere, swinging her bag. Britt told her to run, and she did. Jordan asks why Josslyn didn’t come forward when she heard Britt died, and Josslyn says, she only found out about Britt a couple hours ago; they had a family emergency. Robert says, if what she’s saying is the truth, why did she engage counsel? and Diane says, first of all, it’s her constitutional right. Robert says, if she was arrested, which she wasn’t, and Diane says, it’s only a sensible idea to retain counsel. Josslyn is following her mother’s example, and the example of her Uncle Jason, who, if Robert recalls, never sat down to a police interview without the benefit of counsel. Think about all the misunderstandings they’ve avoided over the years, and look at them now, avoiding another one. Robert says, there’s really no comparison, unless she’s accusing his office of persecuting victims of crime. Diane says, not at all. She trusts him to act in good faith; just as Josslyn trusts her to ensure he does. Does Josslyn have anything to add? Josslyn says she didn’t see anything that night that could help them. She wishes she had. Dante asks if she remembers if her attacker was pregnant, and she says she doesn’t really know. She wasn’t really paying attention. She was kind of focused on The Hook, and trying to get away. Diane says she knows exactly how Josslyn feels. If she has nothing more to add… Josslyn says, no, and Robert says he’ll walk Diane out. Dante asks if Josslyn has a minute, but Diane says, only if it’s a family matter and not police business. He says, it is a family matter, and Josslyn says, it’s fine. Diane, Robert, and Jordan leave, and Dante says he’s sorry about this. Josslyn asks if it was his idea, and he says, no, but he went along with it. She says if she knew anything that could help him, he wouldn’t have to ambush her. She would have come to him herself. He says he knows. Looks like she outmaneuvered them anyway by calling Diane. She says she learned from the best, and he says she did. What was the family emergency?

Nina asks what proof Carly has that Willow is her daughter, and Carly says she ran a DNA test on the two of them. After Harmony told her that Nina was Willow’s mother, she was skeptical. So she took a few strands of hair from Willow’s hairbrush, and a glass Nina had used at Charlie’s Pub. Nina says, Carly stole her DNA, then ran an illegal DNA test without her knowledge or consent? Carly says, the results were conclusive, with a probability of 99.9%. Nina and Willow are biologically mother and daughter.

Sonny says, it’s good Drew is here. Michael needs all the support he can get, and he doesn’t want it from Sonny. Drew tells Sonny that Josslyn said she filled him in about Willow, and Sonny asks if Drew’s known all along, but Drew says, no. Willow filled him in a couple of weeks ago. Sonny says, it kills him that she didn’t loop them in, and Drew says, it’s always better to have things out in the open. Sonny wonders if he can ask Drew a question, and Drew says, yeah. Sonny says, Carly’s in the chapel right now with Nina instead of Michael and Willow. Does he know anything about that?

Spencer says, his father wants the baby, and Alexis says, he plans to sue on the grounds that she’s unfit. He says, pot meet kettle, and she says she knows. She doesn’t know the details; she doesn’t want to. She just knows he’s serious. Spencer says, with his considerable resources and no one to vouch for Esme… She says, he stands a good chance. So if Esme isn’t the killer, who is? He says he wishes he could tell her. He really thought it was Esme. She asks if Trina has any enemies, but he says, everyone loves Trina. She says, what about Portia? What about Taggert? He says he doesn’t think so. Trina’s dad and Curtis were both in law enforcement, so maybe, but why would they go after Trina instead of going after them directly? Is she looking for a scoop? She says she’s looking for the truth. She’d like the killer caught. She has to go to work; she has a conference call. Don’t tell his father that she told him about his plans. Spencer says he won’t. It was good to see her. She says, as far as vouching for Esme, is there anyone important to her, aside from that sociopath Chamberlain? He says, yes. She’s very devoted to Esme. Maybe enough to kill for her?

Portia says she’s tried to be open minded about Trina’s connection to Spencer, but his father lost her when he terrorized the kids at Windymere because he was trying to teach Spencer a lesson. Now that same man cheated on his wife, with Spencer’s girlfriend, and got her pregnant. The same girl that terrorized Ava. And don’t get her started on Victor Cassadine because… Trina says she knows. She knows Spencer’s family is messed up. Portia says, amoral is a better word for it. She doesn’t want Trina anywhere near those people. Trina says, Spencer’s not his family; he’s his own man. Portia says, he’s a two-time convicted felon, and Trina says, growing up, Portia taught her never to judge people by their worst mistake. Portia says she knows, but you also have to look at the patterns people do. Trina says she gets that Portia is just looking out for her, but please trust her judgement. Portia says she does, and Trina says she hopes one day Portia sees Spencer the way she does, but ultimately, she doesn’t have to. Because he’s not Portia’s friend; he’s hers.

Willow asks, what happened? and Michael says, she collapsed at home, but she’s stable now. She says, Nina was in the house with Wiley… He says, Wiley is with Brook and Chase; he’s fine. She asks if Wiley saw her pass out, and he says he’s afraid so. She says, he must be terrified, and Michael says, he knows she’s sick. He doesn’t the have details, but they can explain it to them together. She asks if she’ll make it home to do that, and he says, of course (🍷). Why would she ask that? She says, he has the strangest expression on his face. What is he not telling her? He says, it’s about Nina, and she says she never wants to hear that woman’s name again.

Drew tells Sonny that he knows why Carly wanted to speak to Nina, but it’s not his place to share. Sonny says, Carly’s not here, and he needs answers. If it involves his family, he needs to know, and he suggests Drew tell him.

Nina says she wants to see those results, and Carly says she’ll get Nina a copy. Nina says, never mind. She doesn’t know if Carly used her samples or Willow’s. She’ll get her own test. Carly says, they don’t have time. Why would she lie? Nina says she doesn’t know why Carly does the things she does. Maybe because she’s a liar. Maybe because Carly hates her, or maybe this is some bizarre revenge because she fell in love with Sonny. Carly says, Willow is dying. She has Stage IV leukemia. She needs healthy blood forming cells from a relative, and she only has one. She has Nina. Nina flashes back to her interactions with Willow over the years, both friendly and antagonistic. Carly says she knows Nina hates her and the feeling is mutual, but it’s not about them. This is about Willow. Please go get tested. Please. Nina says, Carly is a monster. Carly made her feel like the scum of the earth. She said over and over how Nina was wrecking their family. What about Nina’s family? How could Carly keep her away from her child? Carly says, Nina can lash out at her all she wants after she gets tested, and Nina says, don’t tell her what to do. Go to hell, you selfish bitch. She’s going to go save her daughter. She slams out of the chapel.

Trina tells Portia, it’s been a long day. Tell Curtis thanks for dinner. She’s not in the mood for dessert. Goodnight. Trina goes upstairs, and Curtis walks in with a couple glasses of wine. He tells Portia that he heard most of it. Does she want to talk about it? She asks if it’s that obvious, and he says he knows her face. He’s literally memorized every expression. Call it a survival tactic. She says she thought Trina put Spencer in the rearview, but she seems determined to revive their friendship. He says he wondered about that when he saw them together, and hoped it wouldn’t become a habit, and Portia says, it won’t if she has anything to say about it. He says he’s not sure she does. Trina has made it clear that she values boundaries. Portia says she wants to respect that, but she’s not going to sit back and watch Spencer worm his way back into Trina’s heart again.

Spencer says, last Esme mentioned her, Maggie was living in London, but Sam could tell Alexis more. Alexis says, her Sam? and he says he asked Sam to find Maggie Fitzgerald when he thought she could be the key to getting Esme to confess she framed Trina. But then Trina was exonerated, and he never followed up. In a letter, Maggie warned Esme against having any contact with her birth father. Alexis says, he told her Esme had no family, and he says, none that she knew of, but Esme claims Maggie knew her biological parents, but never told her. Alexis thanks him for this. Let her know if he hears anything else. A reporter took a picture of him and Trina together after Rory’s funeral. He says, they’ve been spending time together, and she says, be careful. If Trina is a target, it could put him at risk. He says he knows how to protect his own, and she says, his own. He is growing up.

Drew tells Sonny, he’s not gatekeeping family business. It’s a personal matter that involves Nina. Sonny says, Nina’s his family, and Drew says he’s sure Nina will tell him. Carly comes along, and tells Sonny to back off. Sonny asks, what’s going on? Where’s Nina?

Willow says, every time she turns around, Nina is invading their space. Making wild accusations; trying to get close to their son. Nina is toxic. Michael tells her to calm down, and she tells him to make her a promise. If she loses this battle, promise her that Nina will never have access to Wiley ever again. Nina walks in, and Willow says, get out. Leave her alone. Michael says, not now, and Willow says, not ever. She wants Nina out of this room, and out of her life for good. Nina says she’s sorry, but Willow’s life may depend on her.

On Monday, Spencer says, this baby may not know either of its parents; Sonny asks what Carly has to feel guilty about; and Michael suggests Willow hear what Nina has to say.

🚑 Heavy Weighs the Soap Crown…

I don’t think I’ve ever watched the scene in question, but it sounds pretty awful. I remember Roger Howarth being uncomfortable about Todd having been a rapist on OLTL, then going on to be an antihero.

👩🏻‍⚕️ The Real Why…

I totally get it, and she certainly went out with a bang.

🥀 Another Goodbye…

I didn’t watch the soaps he was in, but the fact he wrote The Deer Hunter makes him worthy of a mention.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Jackie introduces herself to Jason at the MetroCourt bar. She says she’s doing a follow-up on the bombing at The Floating Rib. She heard that when it happened, there were people who thought he was trapped inside; he’s lucky he wasn’t. Julian Jerome was linked to the explosion, and speculation is that he was the intended target. Does he care to comment? Obviously, she doesn’t know him.

Jordan tells Cyrus, she can’t snap her fingers and get his mother back. She has no proof Jason took his mother. If she did, she’d move heaven and earth to get her back. He says, would she? and she says that’s a major difference between them. She’d never take part in a kidnapping. He says, think of it as a hostage negotiation. If Jason returns his mother, he’ll make sure Taggert goes free. It’s a simple exchange. His dear mother for Trina’s father. After all Jordan has taken from Trina, how can she deny Trina this?

Trina brings coffee to the hospital for Portia, and Portia asks why Trina is buttering her up. Trina says she just thought Portia would like coffee while they talk. Portia says, about what? and Trina says, her dad.

Alexis looks in the meeting room, and leaves. In the hallway, Curtis says, if she’s looking to fix her pain, she’s more likely to find a solution in there than out here. He goes in.

Dante wakes up, and sees Maxie. He asks if she’s okay, and she says, only him, from a hospital bed, would ask her if she’s okay. Since he did, she thought he knew better than to scare a pregnant woman. He says he’s sorry, and she says, obviously, she forgives him. The question is, can he forgive Peter?

Laura goes to see Carly, and Carly says her message sounded urgent. What’s up? Laura says they’ve been friends a long time; too long to dance around a subject. Carly agrees, and Laura says she has to ask Carly a question, and she really wants the truth. Where is Jason hiding Florence Grey?

On the phone, Valentin tells Martin, it’s true. At long last, Nina knows Nelle was her daughter. Martin says, my God. It must be torturous for poor Nina. Valentin says, it gets better. Jax knew for months. Martin says it’s going to cause a veritable chasm in the fortress of the affections, and Valentin tells him that Jax managed to get her to stop the inquiries about her daughter. He advises Martin to stop the exposé regarding his, but Martin says Valentin has come up with no alternate solution in getting his mother back. Valentin says he’ll be there shortly to explain. We see Valentin is leaving flowers at Nathan’s grave.

Maxie tells Dante, what Alexis did wasn’t Peter’s fault. When he published the article, she was proud of his big scoop. Now she’s thinking it wasn’t a smart move. People are saying Peter deliberately incited everyone to panic. Dante says he doesn’t think they’ve ever had a conversation where Maxie wasn’t defending Peter, and she asks if they can get past it. He says, they can, and she asks if he can accept Peter. He says he doesn’t know Peter, and Maxie says, he knows she loves Peter. Dante says Peter stepped up with a job for him, and she says, then what is it? Why does he have a hard time with Peter? He says, Peter is Nathan’s half-brother. That’s why.

Monica leads the AA meeting, and tells everyone, good morning. She’s Monica, and she’s an alcoholic. Everyone says the obligatory, hi, Monica, and she thanks them for coming. She says, it takes strength and courage. Coming there isn’t always easy. Why don’t they start?

At the PCPD, Brando takes out his phone.

Jordan says, Cyrus wants to swap family members like chess pieces, and he tells her not to confuse his pragmatism for lack of emotion. He’s sure the pain he feels is equal to Trina’s. If there’s an exchange, they both win. She says, it won’t stop the Federal charges against Taggert, but he says, they have no case without cooperation. It won’t be the first time he refused to work with the Department of Justice.

Jackie says she heard Jason was the strong, silent type, but it works out; she’s a helluva talker. She’s also an investigative reporter, and she’s wondering who would want to blow him up. Julian isn’t the big fish he used to be – or wasn’t the big fish he used to be. Her sources say he wasn’t acting on his own orders, but on Cyrus’s. When she hears that, things make more sense. Doesn’t he agree? Jason’s phone rings, and he says excuse him. He steps away, and she says, he speaks. It’s Brando, and Jason asks, what’s up? Brando says they have a situation.

Carly tells Laura that she’s right. Their history deserves honesty. Laura wants them to be on the same page about Cyrus’s mother. Carly says, Cyrus is a dangerous criminal, and doesn’t give a damn about the pain he inflicts on others, including both their families. If his mother is missing, it’s probably because someone wants their loved ones safe. Laura says Carly has to tell Jason, that’s not the way to go. Carly says she can’t do that . Laura says, Carly won’t intercede? and Carly says, whatever Jason did or didn’t do, his instinct is to protect their families. If he thinks something will help, she’s not going to undercut him. Laura says she gets it. Jason has to hold the fort, and needs leverage over Cyrus, but Florence has two sons. Carly says she remembers Martin from Wiley’s custody suit, and Laura says, so she knows he’s a very good lawyer; well-connected, with a long reach. If they’re not careful, Martin could be their undoing.

Jason asks Brando, what’s going on? Brando says, Cyrus is at the PD on a mission to find his mother, and Jason says, that’s difficult. Brando says he figured Jason would want to be involved. He doesn’t know what to do.

Cyrus tells Jordan, lacking a testimony, the Feds have no proof of Taggert’s alleged crime, but she says, those are not the only charges. He says, surely she can handle Taggert faking his death. She can be a hero; it’s a nice twist. She can return him to his family, even though she was the reason he was taken away. She says, Cyrus’s revenge trumps everything. Is she supposed to believe Taggert won’t disappear? He swears on his mother’s life, no harm will come to Taggert by his hand.

Portia tells Trina, what she finds acceptable is up to her. Trina asks if it’s okay if she’s still mad at her dad, and Portia says, it’s not up to her if Trina is mad or not. They sit, and Trina says she’s worried about her dad being in jail all alone. She wants to see him. Portia says, okay. Of course (🍷) she’ll set up a visit, and Trina says she hates it; seeing him in a cell. She told everyone that her dad was one of the good guys. She recruited Josslyn to help her clear his name. Her dad was her hero, and he’s not a hero. Portia says, and she’s mad at herself for still loving him. Trina says she really does, so much. Portia says she knows, and holds her.

Curtis says he hasn’t been to one of these meetings in a long time, but it’s been longer since he had a fix. He’s questioning if he’s put his faith in the right place, and challenging his sense of purpose. It’s hard some days. He wakes up angry and uncomfortable in his own skin. He came today to remind himself that he’s not the man from years ago who couldn’t move forward without a fix, and false confidence. He came to reconnect to that promise. Even though everything in his world is crumbling, he worked his ass off to get there, and he won’t give up on the man he’s become.

Jason comes back to the bar, and Jackie says, Cyrus and his family are accusing Jason of kidnapping Cyrus’s mother. The motive is obvious; retaliation for attempting to kill him. It makes sense, but she did her research. Kidnapping an elderly woman seems off-brand for him. Although nothing seems to stick anyway. He was tried twice for murder with no convictions, and been arrested for countless other crimes, but one thing he’s never even been suspected of is targeting innocent people. She’s offering to help him change that. Does he want to deny it, and clear his name? Martin approaches, and tells Jackie, they have pressing business. She asks if it can wait, but he says it can’t. Jason gets up and starts to walk away. She says, really? He has nothing to say? He says, no comment, and keeps walking. She says, what the hell was that?

Jordan tells Cyrus, they’ve gone over this before. Vermont is out of her jurisdiction. He asks if Jason is out of her jurisdiction. She knows, as he does, that Jason has his mother. She says she needs proof. She’s all too familiar with how it feels, missing a loved one; the sleepless nights, the constant worry. Torturous, isn’t it? If she could help, she would, but she can’t. He advises her to proceed with caution. He swore he wouldn’t hurt her friend, but if any harm comes to his mother, there’s not a person she loves who will remain standing. He leaves, and she takes out her phone.

Laura tells Carly, Martin is worried about his mom. She doesn’t blame him for reaching out. He’s desperate, and just wants his mother brought home safe. He knows people. Carly asks, people like who? and Laura says, the media for one, and he knows people in law enforcement. Carly says, and his half-sister is the mayor. Laura asks if they can find a way to compromise, a way to reassure Martin that she’s safe, so he’ll calm down, and Jason cold focus on Cyrus. Martin is an innocent man. Carly says, supporting a drug trafficker, but Laura says, inadvertently. Carly wonders if they can trust Martin, or will he share the information with his brother? Laura says, it’s a definite risk, but one they can afford to take. Her phone dings, and Laura says, the Commissioner wants see her. Please think about what she said. Carly tells Laura that she will.

Jackie tells Martin, she’s confused. She was under the impression the exposé was urgent. Martin says he misspoke; there’s no need to waste her time chasing empty leads, and Jackie says, Martin must be relieved to have his mother home safe and sound. Why does he want to scrap story? She’d love to talk to his mother. Martin says, that’s not possible; she’s simply unavailable. Jackie says, she’s still missing. His obvious discomfort leads her to believe Martin doesn’t know where she is. He says, conjecture, and she says, is it? Martin came to her terrified about his mother’s well-being, and practically begged her to help. When she did, he pulled a turnaround, and said his mother was fine, with zero details of explanation. Valentin approaches, and Martin says, please join them. Jackie says Valentin can watch the latest runaround his attorney is attempting to give her. Valentin sits down, and says Martin’s mother is still very much a hostage.

Peter listens outside the door, and Dante asks if Maxie forget that he saw her and Nathan fall in love. She says she didn’t forget. When she thinks about that time, she thinks about the four of them – her, Nathan, him, and Lulu. It was perfect. Dante says, it was, and she says, then Nathan died. She thought she’d never have those feelings again. Then came Peter. Peter was always there, holding her up, and keeping her going, when she didn’t think she could. He gave her everything, and asked for nothing. He gave her space to heal and grieve, and little by little, she fell in love with him. Dante asks what it was like when she found out Peter was Nathan’s half-brother, and she says, it was surreal, but also comforting. Dante wonders if it isn’t Peter’s connection to Nathan that Maxie is drawn to, and she says, Peter isn’t a stand-in. He says he’s not suggesting that, but she says it sounds like he is. She thinks as far as Nathan’s death goes, Peter convinced her to have a different perspective. He says, for her, Peter is the closest thing to Nathan, and she wants to let him in. She says he’s wrong, but he says, is he? She says she doesn’t love Peter because he’s Nathan’s brother. She loves the man he’s become. Peter walks in, and asks if he’s interrupting.

Maxie asks what Peter is doing there, and he says, checking on his head of security. Dante says he’s fine, and expected to make a full and fast recovery. Peter asks how Maxie is, and she says she was just worried about Dante. He knows how the pregnancy hormones are. Peter tells Dante, he’s lucky to have a good fiend in Maxie, and Dante says he knows. Maxie says she should go; she has a thousand and one things to do for the wedding. Peter says he’ll walk her out. The walk to the elevator, and Peter asks, what was going on? It was clearly more than Maxie being worried about Dante. She says she wishes people could see Peter the way she does, and accept and love him. He asks if Dante said something, and she says, he means well, and wants her happy, but she is happy. Peter, Georgie, James, and the baby are everything. He says, as they are to him. The elevator comes, and he says he’ll see her at home.

Portia tells Trina, two things can be true at once. Her father is a courageous man, who loves her with all his heart, but he’s a complicated man, who had to lie. Trina says, it’s a lot to process, and Portia says, especially all alone. Does she want to see her dad? Trina says she thinks she does, and Portia says, it’s her call. When Trina feels ready, she’ll contact Jordan and set up a time. Cyrus approaches, since he just can’t seem to learn, and says he apologizes for interrupting. Portia says, if he has to apologize, don’t do it. He says he just came from the police station, and offered not to press charges on Taggert, but Jordan turned him down. Portia tells Trina, go home; they’ll finish talking there. Trina hesitates, and Portia says, it’s okay; she’ll be right behind her. When Trina is gone, Portia says she told Cyrus to stay away from her daughter. He’s toying with Trina’s hopes again. He says, he offered to withhold his cooperation with the DOJ; without cause, they can’t prosecute. Jordan declined. If her daughter’s emotions are being toyed with, take it up with Jordan.

Monica thanks Curtis for sharing, and asks if anybody else would like to share. Alexis gets up, and says she’s Alexis and she’s an alcoholic. The group says, hi, Alexis, and she says, it sounds so pat, so cut and dried. It’s not though. They all know that. Her addiction is ever-present. It’s all over her, everywhere. It’s there when she wakes up and when she goes to bed. The only time it rests is when she does, but the next day, it picks up and starts over. It’s in her head, like it has its own personality, like it’s a grifter. It keeps showing up and wanting more and more at the expense of everybody else. She sits, and says she managed to stay sober quite a while; long enough to like herself again, and see world with color in it again. Then bad things happened – not like nothing bad happens to them – and she gave up. She didn’t care at all, and that’s what addiction feeds on – weakness. She’s weak. Curtis looks at her proudly, and she says, she’s just being honest, but she doesn’t even know if she cares now. She doesn’t know if she wants to stop drinking. It appears she’s lost everything she cares about, and she knows she should care about it, but she needs help to stop drinking.

Laura tells Jordan, Jason has Cyrus’s hands tied, but it won’t last. They need to make the most of the moment. Jordan says, no argument from her, but how do they do it; nothing sticks. Laura says, they traced the bomb to Cyrus, but there’s no actual proof. Jordan says there’s nothing to connect him to the warehouse shooting either, and Laura says, or the influx of drugs. Jordan says she spent years undercover trying to convict Cyrus, and they know how that turned out. Laura says there must be a thread they haven’t pulled, and Jordan says she’s open to ideas. Laura wonders what they have in Port Charles that’s not like in any of Cyrus’s other territories. What’s different? Jordan says, the hospital. That’s a first. Laura says, that’s it. There has to be something he’s doing there that they can use against him.

Jason goes to Sonny’s, and asks Carly if everything is okay. She says, yes and no. Laura came by to discuss the Florence situation. She thinks they should change course, and give a little where Martin is concerned. He’s not Cyrus. He’s just a guy worried about his mom. Jason says he saw Martin at the MetroCourt with Jackie. Before he showed up, Jackie was asking all kinds of questions about his involvement in the kidnapping. She says, that’s like what Laura was talking about. She’s not just worried about Cyrus. Jason asks if she’s talking about bringing Martin in, and she asks what alternative they have. They can ease Martin’s fear, and reassure him that no harm has, or will, come to his mother, and then focus on Cyrus. He tells her that what she’s saying makes sense, but if they go too far, and Martin tells Cyrus, Cyrus will know they’re bluffing. It’s a fine line he doesn’t want to cross. The only reason Cyrus isn’t doing anything is because he fears his mother getting hurt. Fear is the only leverage they have. Bring in Martin, and it could blow up. Carly says, if they don’t, it could still blow up.

Valentin tells Jackie, discretion might be nice, and she says, about what? He says, a delicate situation requires precise communication to avoid unfortunate consequences. She says, tell his friend, and he says, communication isn’t Martin’s strong suit. She says, right, and his mother is still missing, aka an innocent woman. Valentin asks if that’s the kind of story she’s writing; fluff, a flash in the pan tabloid piece. She asks if he has something else in mind, and he says, as a matter-of-fact, he does.

Curtis tells Alexis, that took guts, and Alexis says she was terrified. He says, unfortunately, that’s how it works, and she says she doesn’t know if she can do it. He says she will, and when she does, she won’t be alone.

Peter goes to Dante’s room, and Dante says, he’s back. Peter says he wanted Dante to know he’s glad he’s okay. Dante thanks him, and Peter says he wanted to check and make sure Dante was coming to the wedding. He is family to Maxie, and him too, in a sense. After losing Nathan, the more he thinks how important Dante is to his soon-to-be wife, and he thinks he’s making a mistake.

Laura tells Jordan, Cyrus went to great lengths to disenfranchise the hospital employees that have been at GH the longest. Jordan says, Monica and Bobbie, Elizabeth and Epiphany, and Laura says, Doc keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s the ones who will fight for the integrity of the hospital at any cost. Jordan says, unlike Britt, and Laura says, maybe that’s the key. Not what Cyrus is doing, but who he’s doing it with. Jordan says, which begs the question, who’s getting their hands dirty?

Laura asks if Walker, Cyrus’s second in command, didn’t disappear, and Jordan says, without a trace, and no body was ever found. She wonders if Cyrus could possibly be grooming Britt, but Laura thinks it might be his driver Brando. If she and Jordan can get to them, they can get to Cyrus. Jordan asks if she thinks they can get Britt and Brando to turn, and Laura says they’ll give them no choice.

Jason tells Carly, no telling Martin, but he’s not saying they can’t figure out how to make it work. Carly says she’s sorry for talking to Laura without telling him, but he says it’s nothing he wouldn’t have done, if lying wasn’t working to his advantage. She says, he’s not mad? and he says, no. He sees why she did it, but she can’t just act. They need to be on the same page. If she goes rogue, he has to play catch up, and do damage control. Just like with Sonny’s funeral. They both hate it, but they talked about the advantages and disadvantages, and made the decision together. She says she gets it. It makes sense in theory. There’s just a lot going on. He says he knows; just tell him first. She says she’s worried about the Nina situation, isn’t he? He says, she’s not? but she says, it’s out there. Nina knows everything about her daughter that was kept from her. She’s handling it. He asks if everything is okay, or is she going to do something crazy that will come back to bite her? She tells him, stop. Everything is fine. He doesn’t have to worry. He says he’ll remind her that she said that, but she says he won’t have to.

Jackie says, if there’s a bigger story, now’s the time, and Valentin says, it’s not so much the story as her role in it. Helping to rescue Martin’s mother, she’ll step out of her role as an observer, and into the hero role. How does that sound? She says, intriguing.

At the hospital, Curtis asks if Portia is okay, and she says, no, she’s not. Elsewhere, Cyrus tells Brando, he’s growing increasingly impatient about his mother’s return. He wants answers, and Brando needs to get them. Brando says, so far, he’s come up empty, and Cyrus says, Sonny’s family took his mother, and it’s on him to get back in their good graces, and bring her home. He hasn’t seen that, and he’s disappointed. Brando says, yet Cyrus trusts him, but Cyrus says he doesn’t want to.

Monica hands Alexis a chip, and Alexis says, one day sober. Monica wishes she could tell Alexis that tomorrow will be easier. Alexis says she hasn’t experienced easier in a long time, and Monica says, one foot in front of the other. It sounds trite, but it’s not. Don’t go by days; go by hours. Alexis says she knows. Small goals are easier to achieve.

Peter says he can’t have Dante working for him; it’s too complicated. Sorry, but he’s fired.

Maxie sees the flowers on Nathan’s grave, and says, Nina must have been here. She’s sorry she hasn’t come to see him a lot recently. She’s kind of been all over the place. She misses him, and she’s so confused right now. What if Dante is right, that a huge part of the reason she’s drawn to Peter is because he’s Nathan’s brother? What if she needed love in her life that much, she couldn’t see Peter clearly? She still can’t. She wishes Nathan was there. She misses his voice and his smile, and the amazingly cool way he dealt with things. She cries, and says she doesn’t know what to do right now. She wishes he did.

Tomorrow, Chase asks if there’s still hope, Valentin asks Anna if she has answers about Dante, and Jason tells Scotty that he won’t forget what Scotty said.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City

We took a brief trip down Memory Lane, with each of the women flashing back to a particularly annoying painful moment. Heather’s grand re-opening for Beauty Lab & Laser was in two days. In her interview, she said it was their coming out party. She wanted everyone to see it and give them the credit they deserved, but it had to be finished. The party needed to go off without a hitch. One of the workers asked what was a priority, and she said, everything. Whitney came by, and Heather said, welcome to the jungle, which seems to be her catch-phrase. Someone needs to tell her, it’s not 1987. Neither one of them had talked to Jen since Vegas. Heather didn’t want to deal with any deep-rooted issues at the party, and in Whitney’s interview, she thought Heather should uninvite Jen unless she had a reason she wanted to tank her grand opening.

Jen met with Lisa at a bar. Lisa thought the trip was a lot, and Jen said she was the only one who reached out. In Lisa’s interview, she said Jen burst into tears when she’d seen her in Vegas, and she’d suggested they meet up back home and talk. Jen swore she didn’t talk about Lisa, but Lisa said what Jen thought of as a flip, funny remark was a statement to someone else. Jen said she was that way because she had to be. When she came to Utah, it was all white people, and she had to be defensive and prepared to fight. Lisa said she didn’t think Jen was out to hurt anyone, and Jen said it hurt her to see her friends hurting. Hearing what everyone thought, she had no idea. In her interview, Jen said she was hurt by Heather, who she thought understood her. Lisa asked if Jen was going to Heather’s grand re-opening, and Jen said she wanted to be supportive, but wondered why Heather had never spoken to her about how she’d been feeling. Lisa said when Jen came in hot, she left herself open to more criticism. In Jen’s interview, she said she had the same problem in her marriage, and if she wanted them to hear her, she might have to take it down two notches. Lisa suggested Jen not say everything she thought.

Meredith and Seth were in a great place, and Meredith said it took a lot of work to get there. She was excited to move forward, but knew it wouldn’t always be all positive. She told Seth that Vegas was toxic. She’d never seen such volatility in her life, and there was speculation about their marriage. Seth said whatever happened, happened. They worked hard to save their marriage, and it was nobody else’s business. Meredith thought the women were deflecting, so they didn’t need to focus on their own relationships.

Whitney met her dad at a salon/cosmetology school. He’d completed rehab, and was almost done with 90 days of sober living. He had the opportunity to be instructor at the school. It was his first day working as a sober, functioning man, and he did a cut demonstration on her for a class. In her interview, she said she was glad she’d followed her gut, and helped him. She hoped it wasn’t too good to be true; she’d been let down before. He told her, doing it gave him an income and confidence, and Whitney felt like a proud mama.

Meredith stopped by the old Beauty Lab, where there were tons of boxes everywhere, and Heather said they had movers coming tomorrow. Meredith said Vegas was disappointing and disheartening. She had compassion for Jen, and it made her sad to see her suffering so much, but she’d behaved so badly. In Meredith’s interview, she said Jen had hurt her family. If she’d done that to Jen, she could imagine what would happen. Heather said, to move forward, she’d need a clear apology. It’s what she wanted and needed. If her daughters had a friend like that, she wouldn’t tell them to try and be understanding. In Heather’s interview, Heather said she’d felt like that in her marriage, and she wasn’t going to put up or shut up like she had then.

Lisa met with Sydney her marketing coordinator, and John brought their sons to the meeting. In her interview she said, she might not be good at cooking hot dogs, but she was good at inspiring her children to build things. Geez, even I can make a hot dog. She says she’d created mini moguls. She and John had invested money in Fresh Wolf, and believed in what they’d created. The kids did a small presentation, and Lisa said Fresh Wolf had given them the opportunity to spend time together.

At Faith Temple, Mary directed choir practice. In her interview, she said, in addition to being the first lady, she was also the choir director. Church for her was a place of rest, and the love should always flow. Mary believed if her grandma saw her today, her grandma would be her number one cheerleader, and tell her to keep up the good work.

Sharrieff was looking for brownie points, and maybe some other perks from Jen, and had her meet him for salsa dancing. In her interview, she said she’d been asking him for years. We flashed back to her asking him to be there for her, and she said he was putting in more effort than he ever had. She was suspect of him planning it on his own and was sure he had help. He also had a rose petal covered table, set up in the studio, with champagne and chocolate confections. He’s actually a very good dancer, and in her interview, Jen said Sharrieff had been in a dance group in high school. After the dancing, Sharrieff kicked out the instructors, and they drank the champagne. In her interview, Jen said she never hid who she was, and Sharrieff had been there for her. She apologized for treating hm badly, or in a way that was resentful. She said her heart was good, but she didn’t know how to interpret that. She told him that her intentions had been good toward the women, and he told her to acknowledge her shortcomings and what she had to work on. What would never change is the love he and her family had for her. In Jen’s interview, she said she wished her friends could see her heart and intentions the way Sharrieff did. She was going to be the best version of Jen Shah that she could.

Everyone got ready for the Beauty Lab re-opening, and Heather got glammed up. Whitney told her, the higher the hair, the closer to God. Everything looked pink and gorgeous, including Heather. There were even fluffy pink cocktails, and a cotton candy machine. In her interview, Heather said it exceeded her expectations. A week ago, she wouldn’t have thought they could pull it off. Even the stanchions – what the velvet ropes are called – were pink. Billy, aka Heather’s ex, made an appearance, and was impressed. They took a family photo with the girls, and in Heather’s interview, she said it wasn’t normal to invite your ex to something like this. Welcome to Salt Lake City, where nothing really happens unless your ex gives it the stamp of approval. He told her it was amazing, and Heather felt like she was closing the door on that chapter, and was no longer willing to be defined by her failures. She could tell her daughters that you didn’t need a man to be successful, although you did for some other things to be discussed at a later time. Billy joked that she could support him. He’s loaded in case you didn’t know. Meredith was wearing chainmail over her face a la Lady Gaga, and said it was her glam fashion forward protection, to ward off the nastiness she was sure was coming her way. It was high fashion that people in Utah wouldn’t understand. In Mary’s interview, she admitted she didn’t get it. She just thought maybe Meredith’s makeup was off, so she threw a mask on to hide her face.

Meredith asked how Lisa was, and Lisa told her, since Vegas, she’d settled things in her own mind. She’d met with Jen, and understood the dynamic. She thought Jen was insecure and trying to prove stuff. She heard Jen. In Meredith’s interview, she said she was surprised Lisa sought someone out who was trying to harm her family. Meredith told Lisa, when they’d spoken, Lisa said Jen was toxic. Lisa said she wasn’t committing to a relationship, and Meredith said Lisa could be friends with whoever she wanted. In Lisa’s interview, she said she hoped everyone would extend the same courtesy to her. She told Meredith that she was still processing, and Meredith said she had no problem with Lisa being friends with both her and Jen, but she needed her own space.

Whitney and Mary inhaled oxygen, while doing some kind of aroma therapy. Whitney told Mary that she’d apologized to Jen, and Jen accepted, but then decided to come after her in Vegas. When Mary was no longer in the line of fire, it was her. Mary said it wasn’t okay, and wondered if Jen was coming, but Whitney didn’t know.

Jen arrived, and Heather was excited she’d made the effort to show up and endorse the business, but a lot of sh*t had gone down. As much as she wanted to forget about it, she couldn’t. In her interview, she said she didn’t know if Jen was there to support or sabotage her. That was the double-edged sword that was a friendship with Jen. Whitney told Jen they hadn’t had the opportunity to talk after Vegas, but she hadn’t gotten the result she’d wanted from talking to Jen previously. She didn’t want to be treated poorly, or have toxic friends. In Jen’s interview, she said she was going to Michele Obama her way through the evening. When they went low, she’d go high. Whitney said she felt like she was Jen’s punching bag or scapegoat, and Jen said she realized not everyone understood or appreciated the way she reacted; she was working on it. She was dealing with a lot, and she was sorry she’d reacted that way. Whitney had said a lot of things that were hard to compromise on, like family, and that’s why she got so mad. Whitney thanked her for the apology, and in her interview, said she was shocked that Jen was staying calm. In Jen’s interview, she asked if she could just apologize and move on. There were cookies she wanted to get to. She was hungry.

Heather thanked everyone said it was a big night for them. She’d recently come out of a divorce and working though stuff. The new location was huge, since they’d hidden their success. They tried to stay humble, but it was difficult. She was slowly spreading her wings. She said she loved them, and was grateful for them. In her interview, Heather said she took some of the things that went wrong in her life, and made something good out of it. She was no longer a struggling single person. She was a success, and an example for her daughters. There were lots of hugs.

Meredith said anytime she’d ignored bad energy around her, it had always been a disaster. Jen sought her out, and asked how she was, then apologized. Jen said she loved Meredith, and whether Meredith heard her or not, she cared a lot about her. Getting between marriage and family was not acceptable, and she shouldn’t have entertained the discussion. She said she’d never do anything to hurt Meredith or her family. She got teary, and said it was absolutely no one’s business. In Meredith’s interview, she said Jen crossed a line, and the damage was done. The relationship would probably never be the same. She told Jen that she needed protect her positive space. She appreciated what Jen was saying, but needed to see actions over time to back up the words. In Jen’s interview, she said she was surprised that Meredith wasn’t accepting her apology. In her head, she’d tried to support Meredith, her family, and kids, but maybe it was the situation. She wanted nothing but the best for Meredith, and would be there if Meredith needed her. Meredith hoped Jen found a space that worked for her, but said she needed to protect hers. Heather approached them, and Jen said she’d apologized to Heather and Meredith. Heather said she felt they needed to talk, and Meredith, looking for an out anyway, said she’d give them room.

Jen said she was proud of Heather, and Heather said she felt like Jen was proud. They’d been through a lot together, but she was pissed in Vegas. At the hypnotist, Jen said she didn’t trust Heather. We flashed back to that, and Heather said it was like taking a sledgehammer to her. She asked Jen, why? and Jen said, because of what happened. Heather said, because she told Jen that she was out of line? and Jen said she was blindsided. Heather said Jen came at her, pushed her, and stormed off, and there was no apology. It was bullsh*t, and people were shocked that she still wanted to be friends with Jen. In Lisa’s interview, she said, Heather’s re-opening was a major accomplishment, and don’t wreck it with a fight. Have more tequila. Heather said she was an apathetic fool who worshipped Jen, and did what she could to keep the friendship, but Jen was sh*tting on it. She couldn’t move forward without an apology. Jen told her, no matter what she said, it didn’t matter, but Heather said Jen needed to own it. Jen hadn’t shown up for her.

Lisa asked what Heather meant, and Heather said she loved Jen despite everything. Jen had yelled at her, and threatened her in Vegas, but she showed up at Jen’s room, even though she wasn’t on the payroll. In Heather’s interview, she said, it had the opposite effect. Jen should have shown up as a friend, and instead said she didn’t trust Heather. It was like a big F-U. So what had the friendship been? Jen admitted not being a good friend, and apologized to all of them. She said she knew she had to change, and she was going to work on it. Her intentions had never been to hurt them, especially Heather. Whitney told Jen that Heather wanted her to say what she was sorry for, but Jen didn’t know. Lisa told Heather that she needed to clarify when Jen wasn’t showing up, and Jen said, she didn’t know when something was an issue. In Jen’s interview, she said she loved Heather. She’d tried make Heather feel important, and had made an effort to give her a private shopping event in Vegas. She did things for Heather that she didn’t do for anyone else, and didn’t understand how Heather saw it differently. She told the group that she owned it, even though she didn’t understand. Lisa said it was a big night, and they should agree to disagree. In Whitney’s interview, she said, it was like some twisted Mormon power struggle. Heather asked if Jen thought she’d been a good friend, and Jen said, no. Heather asked if she could be a good friend going forward, and Jen said she could. She was sorry, and knew she needed to work on things.

In her interview, Heather said it had been a process, figuring out who she is, and where she wants to go. As a Mormon, you have to behave a certain way, and be a certain way, and be a certain type of person. To be accepted and loved, you had to be a good Mormon, but it was hard. She learned from her friendships that she could be accepted for who she is. We flashed back to all of the insane moments this season, and in Jen’s interview, she said she loved Heather and had her back. The finale text said that Jen and Sharrieff had been spending more time together – FaceTime. We read that Whitney had been focused on her dad, and was now focusing on herself, and a new skincare line. Mary was reorganizing her closet; getting rid of some clothes, and keeping the skeletons inside. Lisa had scheduled a family bonding trip to Mexico, but if a business opportunity came up, she wouldn’t say no. Meredith and Seth were back in couples therapy to help their communication, but when the topic of moving to Ohio comes up, Meredith disengages. Heather was still a non-practicing Mormon, and still searching for the perfect man, and meatball lollipop.

Next week – part one of the three-part Reunion – lots of drama and finger pointing, and Jen walks.

🥳 Jeff Lewis was the only guest on Watch What Happens Live tonight. FYI, Zoila is taking care of Monroe on Fridays and Saturdays. The Word of the Night was you, and they said it 44 times. If you were playing their drinking game, I think you might be dead.

📌 That’s a Fact…

NAACP: On February 12, 2019, the NAACP marked its 110th anniversary. Spurred by growing racial violence in the early 20th century, and particularly by 1908 race riots in Springfield, Illinois, a group of African American leaders joined together to form a new permanent civil rights organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). February 12, 1909, was chosen because it was the centennial anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.

😴 Head Hitting Pillow In 3… 2… 1…

I see Friday on the horizon, which only means I get to switch jobs, but at least I can sleep later. Whether a weekend means free time, more work, or it’s meaningless, stay safe, stay adventuresome, and stay accepting everyone for who they are.
