General Hospital

Due to a mini-emergency beyond my control, I miss the beginning. Why this stuff has to happen as it’s nearing 3 o’clock is beyond me, but that’s always when there’s breaking news or a press conference, or the government has something to say too. It’s a conspiracy. Moving on…

Lucy thanks everyone for coming. She says her security detail is there to assist the PCPD to protect them from the worst serial killer since Felicia, her bestie and fellow push-up bra lover, inadvertently brought Ryan to Port Charles. It’s all in her book, which she’s going to read from. She asks Felicia when Doc is going to show up, and Felicia says she keeps his schedule in her other bra. Mac suggests having some of the signature cocktails he’s whipped up.

Nina wants Maxie to be honest, and Maxie tells her to remember she asked for it. Peter brings over some cocktails, but Maxie says she needs to talk to Nina, so he finds somewhere else to be. Maxie says she can’t tell Nina what to do, but she should follow her heart. Nina says if they opened her chest, her heart would be wearing a dunce cap. Maxie says, whatever Nina’s answer is to Valentin, they’ll always be family.

At the podium, Lucy says she wanted to dedicate the evening to her top investor, but he hasn’t arrived yet. In lieu of that, she’ll read the first passage about Port Charles’s most iconic citizen, Sonny Corinthos. She reads about Sonny’s attraction to strong women.

Sonny tells Carly that he doesn’t need a shrink. She says they need professional advice. He says that’s why he’s got caregivers. They just had a bad day. Carly says, it wasn’t a bad day; Mike punched Sonny in the face, thinking he was a stranger trying to rip him off. Sonny says Mike still has good days, but Carly says, the good days are becoming less. Sonny tells her, when he left Mike, he seemed calm and lucid. Carly asks how long he thinks that will last. Mike is getting worse, and will continue to get worse until there are no more good days. Sonny asks if she can’t she see things from his point of view. She knows he wants to repair the damage, and make peace out of the hurt and anger. She gets it, but ignoring this helps no one, least of all Mike. She doesn’t know what to do, but he doesn’t either. That’s why she wants to talk to Doc.

Not-Doc hears someone at the office door. It’s Ava, and he says he told her that he had appointments, but she thought she’d check in. She asks if he’s spoken to Sonny and Carly about allowing Avery out of the country. He says they’re meeting in a few minutes, and she says, perfect. She’ll join them. He says, actually… and she says she’s not going anywhere.

Lulu says Laura must be cursing fate. She’s mayor for one day, and walks into a mess. Laura says she’s cursing the serial killer. The idea that he’s copying Ryan terrifies her. There are already three innocent people dead. Is he killing six more to reach Ryan’s final count? When she closes her eyes, she sees the list with nine names on it. Lulu asks where she saw it, and Laura says, on Doc’s desk. He made a list of Ryan’s victims.

Not-Doc tells Ava not to take it the wrong way, but her presence might be counter-productive. Ava says, on the contrary. It could get heated, and he won’t get a word in edgewise. He says he’s a professional, and she says, exactly. He doesn’t know how to fight fire with fire. He needs his own dragon. He says he’d rather she save her fire for when the celebrate their victory. She asks if he’s seducing her into leaving, and he says he can do this for her, and will. He’d do anything for her; wait and see. He kisses her, and says he’ll meet her at the book party later. He thinks he can hold his own. It’s a side of him she’s never seen.

Sonny thought Carly was pissed at Doc. She say he called and apologized. Despite how weird he’s been acting, he was a huge help when she was at Ferncliff. They could use a session to gain perspective. Sonny says he has perspective, but she says he doesn’t. He needs to talk it through rationally with someone who understands the emotion. Sonny wonders if Carly thinks Doc will agree with her. She says he’s spoken to a shrink before, but he says, this is different. She says, not really. It’s a crisis, and she’s not letting it tear them apart. She asks him to do this for her. They need to deal with it.

Lucy continues to read, the woman who puts the B in bitch, Bobbie Spencer, avenged herself against the man who did her wrong – Damien Smith. Bobbie asks if the book includes Lucy affair with Bobbie’s then husband, Jake, and how she lost her underwear in front of the whole town. Lucy asks what her point is. Bobbie says she can’t wait until Lucy sees who Doc is with now. Payback.

Valentin thinks it’s amazing. The town consists of flawed, deeply complex individuals; some more than others. Lucy has a passage especially for him. Proving that evil is genetic, the brooding Valentin extorted Nikolas into signing over his entire estate… Not content with that, he shot Nikolas on Cassadine Island, and Nikolas fell to his death. Nina says, that’s not how it happened. Maxie asks if there isn’t a happier story in Port Charles’s history. Lucy says, it is history, but okay. She did an interview with Robin. She starts to read about Faison, and Peter thinks she should go back to the Cassadines. Maybe a different one. Lucy tells him, it’s not polite to interrupt a lady while she’s speaking, and continues to read. While Faison poisoned the town, he used mind control to sew discord between Robin’s parents. Maxie says they can read more in the book, or does Lucy have something else? Lucy reads about BJ’s accident leaving her brain dead in 1994, and how Tony made the unbearable decision to donate her heart to Maxie. Bobbie looks distressed, but Lucy continues, and tells them how Tony listened to the beat of his daughter’s heart in Maxie’s chest. Everyone is bummed.

Lulu asks Laura why Doc would have a list of Ryan’s victims. Laura says, he didn’t want his brother glorified, and wanted the dead to be remembered, so he made a list. Felicia was on it, but he sees her as a victim even though she survived. Lulu hates to tell her, but the book launch awaits. She tells Laura that if she sees Doc and Ava, ignore them. Laura could use some moral support, and Lulu says she’ll be there as soon as she finishes up. When Laura is gone, Lulu gets on her laptop. She looks up how many women Ryan killed, and sees it’s seven.

Carly thanks Doc for agreeing to see them. Sonny knows he’s going out of town with Ava. What he does is his business, but he’s not allowing Ava to take Avery. He’s not sure she won’t disappear. He doesn’t trust her, and doesn’t think Doc should. Doc asks if they’ve come to talk about Ava and Avery, but Carly says they want to talk about Sonny’s father. Not-Doc locks the door, and says, force of habit. He doesn’t want any interruptions during a session. Carly says they need to know how to go forward. It’s as if Mike is becoming a different person. Not-Doc says they’ve come to the right place.

Nina sees Curtis having one of Mac’s drinks, and says she didn’t think he was the designer cocktail type. He says, when in Rome... She asks if he’s happy for her, moving back to Windymere, and she and Valentin finding their way back against all odds. He asks if this is a permanent move. She says she’ll tell him what she told Maxie. Hopefully, he can be happy for her regarding any of her decisions, but Curtis makes no promises.

Willow and Chase look at Lucy’s book. Willow says she’s clearly running with the wrong people. Chase tells her, if it wasn’t for double jeopardy, the book would put some people away forever. She asks, when he’s not hanging with criminals, who does he run with? He says he’s quite wild. He and his brother raise hell. Sometimes, they get coffee. They might even get two, and sometimes he doesn’t even finish the first one. Who does she run with? She says she’s a lone wolf. He says he can see that. The first moment he laid eyes on her, he thought, wolf. He has an idea. How about if they run together? Metaphorically, unless she likes jogging. She says, that’s not a bad idea.

Peter tells Mac, hearing about the transplant made him aware of how precious Maxie is. Mac hopes Peter did as he asked, and cut the link between Ryan and the recent murders. Peter says he did. He gives Mac his word, which means something these days. There’s nothing more important than keeping Maxie and everyone she loves safe. Maxie approaches, and asks if they’re talking baseball. Mac says they’re talking about how important she is to all of them. Lucy grabs Felicia, and asks, where’s Laura? Felicia is sure she’ll be there soon. Lucy wonders who Doc is coming with.

Laura sees Bobbie, and asks if she’s okay. Bobbie says she’s fine, but the passage brought back bad memories. Laura says, Lucy is no tower of tact. Bobbie appreciates Laura being gracious given their complicated history, which is concisely and thoroughly explained in the book. Laura thought it was about the town. Bobbie adds, and the people who inhabit it.

On the phone, Lulu says Dante caught her at work. She’s’ fine, but wishes he was home. She asks what he means by she won’t be able to reach him for a while. How long? She says it’s good he’s closing in on Rog. She tells him, do what he needs to do. She misses and loves him. After she hangs up, she thinks about Laura saying there were nine names on the list.

Lulu calls Doc, but he ignores it. Carly tells him that when Sonny was a kid, Mike walked out. They patched things up over the years, more or less. When Mike was diagnosed, Sonny bent over backwards for Mike to stay with them. Sometimes, Mike doesn’t know where is or who Sonny is. Sonny says Mike has nobody. He needs to make sure Mike is cared for and knows he’s loved. Carly says it’s at the expense of Sonny’s own well-being. Not-Doc thinks he knows where this is coming from. It’s about Morgan, the son they couldn’t save.

Lucy reads about Felicia fighting Ryan off, and being sent to the loony bin until the truth came out. Thanks to Mac, both her heart and head were healed, Mac thinks it’s time for a break and his signature cocktails. Lucy suggests he call one of them a Tracy – half bitters, and half sour. Felicia mumbles, how about the Lucy? A thin glass of bourbon with a necklace stuck in it. Lucy comes over and says maybe she read the room wrong, but is Felicia mad at her?

Felicia asks for a moment. She says, why would she be mad? Lucy only dredged up painful memories of her past in front of a room of people. Lucy says it’s the anniversary of the killings, and she’d be remiss not to mention it. Felicia sees her perspective, but didn’t want to relive it tonight. Lucy apologizes, and Felicia begrudgingly accepts. Bobbie asks Lucy if she’s mentioned Doc is seeing someone. Lucy asks if she can say who it is. Ava comes in, and Lucy says, no way is Doc seeing that sleaze Ava.

Not-Doc says, grief doesn’t die. It manifests in a number of ways, and he thinks Sonny’s grief is related to how he’s dealing with his father. He was unable to keep Morgan safe. Mike is declining, and Sonny wants to keep him close in a way he couldn’t with Morgan. It’s human, admirable, and particularly poignant. Sonny asks how it can be made easier, and not-Doc suggests they visit Morgan’s grave. Carly says they do at least once a week. Not-Doc says, tell him the things they’d say if he was still there. Sonny asks what that has to do with his dad? and not-Doc says he can use it as a tool for talking to his father, who isn’t really there either. Carly says they could do it tomorrow, but not-Doc says, why wait when they can start healing tonight? Sonny says they’re supposed to be at the book party, but he’d rather talk to Morgan. Carly agrees, and thanks not-Doc. Sonny says, it helped, and not-Doc tells them to call his assistant if they want a follow up. After they leave, he takes out a knife, and says something tells him they won’t need it.

Valentin says Nina is avoiding him. He did ask her to marry him. She says she needed time to consider it, and he asks what she’s decided.

Maxie tells Peter that she’s sorry. She twisted his arm to get him there. He says, it’s a publishing event, and she says, from a rival publisher. And he had to listen to Lucy dredge up his demented father. He says, it’s always painful, but he didn’t run away screaming. Good thing he came.

Mac suggests he bring Felicia his carbonic snow concoction. She says she loves his concoctions.

Lulu leaves a message for not-Doc, and calls Peter. He wonders where she is, and she begs him to reconsider the story. She has new information. If it checks out, he’ll see the connection. Peter tells her that he said no, and that’s final. He wants her to come cover the party that he assigned to her. He hangs up, and Maxie says remind her never to work for him. He says he wants to keep everyone safe, especially her. She tells him, that’s what Nathan would have said.

Bobbie has had all of Lucy and the book she can stand. Laura would love to join her, but as mayor, she has to put in an appearance. Bobbie says if she decides to forget the dignity of her office, and rip Lucy’s hair out, good luck. Laura says Lulu is coming, and there won’t be any catfights. Bobbie thinks Lulu would be the first to cheer her on.

Chase says he and Willow are on a date, but he’s surrounded by cops, so he feels like a slacker. He can’t enjoy it. He suggests they make a run for it, and she agrees, saying, that’s what wolfs do.

Felicia congratulates Maxie. Maxie says she should have paid more attention to the contents of the book. Felicia says they have more important things to talk about; like her and Peter. Maxie doesn’t think she should be feeling this way today. It’s her and Nathan’s anniversary. Felicia says it’s okay if she’s not ready to move on, and it’s okay if she is. She needs to focus on what she wants. Whatever happens next is entirely up to her. Maxie says there’s somewhere she needs to be.

Nina tells Valentin that she loves him, loves being with him again, and loves her life right now. It’s perfect. He asks why not make it more perfect. She wonders why not just be together. He says if that’s what she wants, that’s what he wants. She says she wants to go home.

Not-Doc listens to the message from Lulu. She says her mother told her that he had a list of Ryan’s victims, but there were nine instead of seven. She’d love to meet with him and go over them. Not-Doc looks grim.

Laura asks if Curtis has heard from Jordan, and he says she’s still at work. Laura says Jordan briefed her, and she’s aware Curtis found a possible link; good work. He hopes it doesn’t get publicized, and wonders if she can’t talk to Lulu. She says she doesn’t know how much influence she has with Lulu, but Peter already killed the story.

Ava congratulates Lucy, who can’t remember inviting her. Ava says, yet here she is. Lucy tells Ava to stop spreading lies. No way is Doc involved with her. Since Lucy and I are the only ones who call him Doc, Ava isn’t sure what she’s talking about, then realizes she means Kevin. She says, he’s a wonderful man, and they share a deep, meaningful connection. Lucy tells her that if she is involved with Doc, then listen, and listen good. There’s a thing or two she needs to know about him.

Sonny and Carly go to the cemetery. Sonny doesn’t know what to say. Carly tells him to take as much time as he needs.

Lulu’s office door rattles. It’s not-Doc. She tells him that he scared her, and he says he got her message. She says she thought he’d be at the party. He says, unfortunately, his plans changed. He closes the door.

On Monday, Willow tells Chase that she let him believe something that’s not true, Michael wants to talk to Lucas about Wiley’s future, and Lulu asks not-Doc what he’s doing.

🍠 I caught Top Chef late last night, and my takeaway points were: don’t play it safe, don’t cook scared, and being called out by Tom is like being called to the principal’s office. Brandon packed his knives and went, because of slimy tartare. Next time, chefs on a houseboat, manned – and womaned – by Captain Lee and Captain Sandy (Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean). I’ll be making it my businesses to watch those reality cultures collide.  You can see all about it here:

What I Watched Today

General Hospital

I missed the beginning. Only until the opening credits.

Alexis drops by Sam’s place. She was hoping to spend one-on-one time with her favorite middle daughter. Sam thought Kristina had texted; she moved out. Alexis asks if she moved in with Sonny, and Sam say, no. She moved in with Daisy and some other friends. Alexis says that’s the house situation Oscar is living in; good for her. Sam asks who she is and what has she done with her mother? Alexis says they’re nice to Oscar, and she hopes they’ll be as welcoming to Kristina. She’s an adult, can make her own decisions, and she respects that. Sam isn’t buying it, and Alexis tells her, as they say in the program, fake it till you make it. Jason comes in, and Alexis asks Sam when the move happened. Sam says Kristina had been getting more involved with the Dawn of Day people, a space opened up, and she grabbed it. She and Jason had questions, so they went over and asked. Alexis asks what she thinks, and Sam says, it feels like home. Alexis likes the system of Sam worrying first. She thanks Sam and Jason, saying it’s nice that Kristina has the two of them to look out for her, and leaves.

Josslyn has Oscar’s critique of Of Mice and Men. He got an A-. He says he’s sorry, bringing shame on her, him, and their ancestors. She’s brought his schoolwork, and asks what he wants to do, and he tells her that he has a special assignment. He shows her the journal; her favorite project. He’s been adding to it, and says he wants to spend he longest day in the mountains, from sunrise to sunset.

Julian tells Drew, message received, but Drew isn’t done. He wonders if Kim spent too many nights with her son, and wasn’t giving Julian enough attention, so he ended the relationship over nothing. Julian doesn’t want to discuss it with Drew, but Drew says Kim trusted him. She believed in him when everyone warned her not to. Julian says, everyone was right; congratulate them. Drew calls him Charlie, and says he’ll give him credit for one thing. He kept up the charade longer than Drew thought he would.

Kim tells Terry that Oscar is looking better, and he’s eating. Josslyn even has him doing homework, and thinking about the SATs and where to go to college; his future. Terry says, the most important thing is, he’s opened himself up to love. Clinically, and scientifically, love helps.

At the gym, not-Doc asks Laura if she should be wandering around alone with a killer on the loose. She asks if that’s why he followed her, and he says she can’t be too careful. She thanks him for that, and for what he said at the meeting. She thinks it’s odd to receive and endorsement from a soon-to-be ex, but he says Port Charles needs a fighter like her in office; he meant what he said. She tells him that she did too. If elected, she’ll be an advocate for mental health, starting with Ferncliff. He tells her no one respects and understands commitment to reform like he does, but she needs to prioritize the needs of the entire city. While she’s looking after the greater good, he volunteers to keep an eye on what happens at Ferncliff.

Sam looks at the laptop, and tells Jason that she understands why Dawn of Day is appealing to Kristina. It’s about empowerment, confidence in community, and excellence through action. They do a lot of volunteering; at the food pantry, the homeless shelter, the soup kitchen. There are no red flags. Jason says, bad guys don’t advertise that they’re bad guys. Sam says, it all seems sincere, but something is up. They’re hiding something or have an agenda. She asks how the book is, and Jason says it basically covers what Shiloh told them, but in more detail. Troublemaker Hank almost got killed in Afghanistan, and Drew saved him. He reads, it wasn’t just Hank’s body lifted off the field, but his soul was in Drew’s hands. Drew’s singular choice to save him not only changed Hank’s life, but his world. Sam thinks he’s laying it on thick. Kristina is looking for a spiritual identity; she’s drifting, and he’s giving her direction. Jason asks if she doesn’t like it, and Sam says, no; does he? He says he’s more interesting in Hank’s life before he became Shiloh. Why did he have to reinvent himself? What’s he running from?

Kristina brings Shiloh to Oscar’s room, and introduces him to Josslyn. Oscar says it’s nice of Shiloh to let him crash at his house, but Shiloh says, it’s everyone’s house. They miss Oscar, and he’s looking forward to getting to know him better. Josslyn knows what the group does, but asks what about Shiloh specifically? Shiloh says he gives space for people to listen, and learn to trust themselves. Josslyn says, like a therapist or guru? Shiloh doesn’t think of himself as a leader. It’s a community; he just paves the way. Kristina suggests Josslyn join them at the next meeting. Shiloh says she’s more than welcome. Oscar wants to start paying Shiloh back, but Shiloh says the community is paid by serving others.

Julian tells Drew that he doesn’t owe him any explanations. Drew says he’s a selfish SOB, like he always was. He guesses a dying kid interfered with the relationship, and asks when Julian’s motivation ran out. Julian says when he saw Drew and Kim kissing.

Not-Doc tells Laura, the patients at Ferncliff are criminally insane; damaged beyond repair. Laura asks if that means he doesn’t want to advocate for them. They both have mental health issues in their past, and she thought they agreed. He’s concerned some of the patients might be manipulative, and if their found sane, they’ll be shipped to prison. Laura asks if he didn’t once ask what worse punishment can there be than to live with a broken mind? While their talking, not-Doc has been wrapping an exercise band around his hands. Laura says he’s cutting off his own circulation.

Not-Doc says it’s a nervous habit. Laura asks, since when? and he snaps that it’s new; he’s working it through. She asks if he’s all right, and he says he’s fine. She says there’s no one there; just them. Is there something he needs to tell her? Now’s his chance. He says she knows him well. There is something he’s wanted to say since she came home. It needed to be the right time. He stretches the band, and says, maybe the moment has arrived. Scotty walks in, and says he came to hit a heavy bag. He might have to knock out a knife wielding lunatic. Not-Doc says leave it to Scotty to bring fists to a knife fight, and Scotty says leave it to Doc to wear a suit at the gym. He asks if they’re getting back together, and not-Doc says, no. It’s none of Scotty’s business. Laura says they’re friends, and it is. Scotty tells them about the self-defense class, saying he thinks everyone should take it. They don’t know who will be next.

Oscar marvels over his dad saving and inspiring Shiloh. Josslyn asks how it’s possible no one made the connection, but Shiloh says he didn’t know who Oscar’s parents were. Oscar asks if Shiloh saw his dad, and if Drew remembered him. Shiloh says he saw Drew, but he didn’t remember. Drew told him about his condition, but he’s made an impressive life for himself. Oscar says his dad is a great guy. Shiloh says, even if Drew didn’t have a memory issue, he might not recognize him. He put the angry boy behind him. Oscar wonders if Shiloh can tell him about Drew’s time in the service. Shiloh says he’d be more than happy to, if it’s cool with Oscar’s dad. Kim walks in, asking if there’s a party she wasn’t invited to. Kristina introduces her to Shiloh, who hopes he didn’t cause friction. Kim is glad he gave Oscar a place to stay while they were sorting things out. Shiloh says they love Oscar, and wonder when he’s coming back. Oscar tells Kim that he wants to come home tomorrow, if it’s cool with her. She says nothing would make her happier. They hug.

Sam tells Jason that Dawn of Day first filed their incorporation under D. H. Archer; a personal marketing platform. She says that D.H. is David Henry. He’s the only son and surviving child of Henry Archer, one of her husbands.

Oscar explains about the trial, and Kristina asks if it hurt. He says, no; it just made him tired. Kim sees Terry outside the room, and says she has to check on the smaller babies. She excuses herself, and in the hallway, Terry tells her, it’s time to call Drew. Oscar’s test results are in.

Drew says Julian broke things off because of a little New Year’s Eve kiss between exes? Julian tells him, don’t say it’s nothing. Alexis wants to interject before they say things they’ll regret. Drew says he won’t regret anything, but Alexis says it doesn’t appear they’ll say anything that will help Kim. Maybe they should go in their separate corners. Julian wants Drew to hear this. He got tired of spending night after night alone, but New Year’s Eve was supposed to be their night. Kim preferred spending it with Drew, so he responded in kind. Drew said he didn’t wait two seconds to ask what was going on before he slept with someone else, and Julian says, what’s good for the goose. Drew gets a text from Kim saying the test results are in. He tells Julian that he didn’t deserve Kim, and jets. Alexis asks why Julian just lied to Drew.

Sam tells Jason that Henry was one of her first big ones. He was huge in advertising, and wanted a pretty, much younger woman on his arm. She wasn’t his first, and she’s sure she wasn’t his last. Jason thinks she must have met Shiloh, but she doesn’t remember meeting him. She thinks he refused to come to the wedding on the grounds she was a gold-digging tramp, who would be taking his inheritance. He wasn’t entirely wrong. Jason says Henry must have talked about him, and Sam says Henry called him David. She thinks calling himself Hank was his way of rebelling. She got the impression that he was living off of hi trust fund. Jason says he must have known about her. Wouldn’t he have recognized her? She says, maybe he was waiting to see if she recognized him.

Alexis tells Julian, bailing after one kiss is wimpy of him. He says he’s clearly not what Kim needs. It’s a family crisis, and he’s not part of the family. He’s not walking away, just giving up.

Scotty tells Laura and not-Doc the last victim was a producer who was making a documentary about Ryan. He was a nice guy, and had asked questions about the killing spree, but that’s not the creepy part. All of the interview footage is missing. Laura asks if they think the killer took it, and Scotty says that’s the theory. Maybe he stumbled on something about Ryan the killer didn’t want anyone to know. Laura wonders what could have any consequence, and Scotty says maybe the killer is a copycat, and is trying to circumvent any leads. The police think they’re getting cocky, and will try to murder the wrong person at the wrong time, and be sent to prison for the rest of their miserable life.

Oscar thinks it’s cool that Shiloh knew his dad. Josslyn asks him to bring his attention back to his first day out. She’s already told her mom that she’s not going to school, and suggests lunch at Kelly’s, Oscar agrees, and she says, then what? He wants to go to the docks. He’s sick of staring at the walls, and just wants to look out on the water. Josslyn says, done, and he suggests following it with ping pong at the Quartermaine’s – if she doesn’t mind losing. Oscar suddenly looks pensive, and asks, what happens after tomorrow when he goes back to school? Do they know what’s going on? He doesn’t want them to look differently at him. Josslyn says, it doesn’t matter. She’ll be with him, and no matter what happens, they’ll face it together.

On her tablet, Terry shows Drew and Kim Oscar’s tumor before treatment, and the tumor yesterday. Kim takes the tablet. Drew says he’s the only non-doctor in the room. Can they explain what they’re looking at? Kim says it hasn’t shrunk. Terry says it’s almost nine centimeters, and the growth in the brain tissue is entangled in major blood vessels. The treatment failed. Drew asks what it means, and Kim says, it’s still inoperable. Oscar is going to die.

Not-Doc admires Scotty’s confidence in the police. Scotty says the killer thinks a lot of himself – or herself – but no one is untouchable. Not-Doc says no one caught the Zodiac killer or Jack the Ripper. Scotty is sure they got what was coming to them. Gail always told him, what goes around comes around, and you need to think before you act. Laura says she remembers Gail telling them that, and he says, most of the time, she was right. Laura says, Gail is a wonderful woman, and she’s glad he persevered. Scotty tells them, Gail passed away.

Sam tells Jason, whoever Shiloh is, he’s made no attempt to hide his personal history. He grew up with wealth being the chief motivator, and wanted to reinvent a meaningful purpose, making a welcoming community. Buzzwords; he seems like he’s full of crap. Jason says there are too many coincidences connected with Shiloh, Drew, and Oscar. And now Kristina. There are too many people he cares about in Shiloh’s orbit.

Julian tells Alexis that Kim chose Drew. Alexis says she kissed Drew, and chose Julian. She doesn’t want it to end as much as he doesn’t. Julian says she told him Oscar was her whole world, and now her world is crumbing. Alexis says, if that’s true, doesn’t she need him more? He says he’s not the right man for the job.

Terry tells Kim that she’s correct. Oscar’s tumor didn’t shrink, and remains inoperable. She’s sorry. Drew says they appreciate how hard she’s fought, and Terry says he’s a wonderful kid. She’s been privileged to get to know him. Kim asks how much time, but she’s not sure. Up until recently, it’s been slow growing. The best they can do is monitor it, and be available for whatever he needs. As for a timeline, it’s too soon to tell. Kim says, so there’s time, and Terry says, there is. She leaves to give them privacy. Drew says they knew it was a long shot. Kim cries, and says, it was. Drew says they’re going to have to tell him. Kim agrees, but says, he’s having such a good day. Josslyn is there; Kristina showed up with a friend; and he’s eating again. What if this is his last happy day? Drew says they can’t let it be. Kim asks to leave it one more day. Give him one more day of hope. They don’t know how many days he’ll have left. Drew knows it’s hard, but they gave him their word. It’s his life, and whatever control is left, they have to give it to him.

Laura tells Scotty that she’s sorry; it’s a tremendous loss. Scotty says Gail thought the world of her, and Laura says she felt the same about Gail. Scotty feels like an orphan. The Baldwin family is disappearing. It was important to them when they were young. Scotty’s parents always had advice. He and Laura married young, and they were there to tell him what he was doing right or wrong. Now there’s no one to remember them but him. Laura tells him to forget the workout, and suggest they go to Kelly’s for coffee. They should get it to go, walk to the pier, and watch the ferry. Scotty says Lee loved to fish there. Laura says he can tell her stories, and then it will be two of them remembering. She tells not-Doc if he wants to talk… but he says, never mind. It was just a passing thought. Laura and Scotty leave, and not-Doc looks at the band. He wraps it around a rope of the boxing ring.

Alexis says the person Julian slept with doesn’t exist, do they? Why lie to Drew and Kim that he slept with an imaginary person? Julian says there was a line he had to cross to get Kim away. Alexis says he didn’t make Kim think it was her, did he? He says, no; however, he didn’t deny it.

Sam makes circles on a paper, saying this is what they have so far. They’ll start with Oscar; he’s Jason’s nephew. Then they’ll go with Drew, his brother. Drew saved Hank/Shiloh, who is the son of her old mark, Henry Archer, and who’s now living with her sister Kristina. Who’s in the middle? Jason says Sam is, Linda Black. Sam says Kristina starts hanging out with him, and she begins getting email under her old alias’s name. Jason says it’s no coincidence. Sam says, no, but there she is, in the bullseye.

Kristina tells Shiloh that she can’t believe he took the time to come. He says all they need is each other. That’s why he’s there. He asks if she’s all settled. It’s her home, and he’s 100% committed to helping her discover what she needs to about herself. She can always come to him.

Drew and Kim go to Oscar’s room. Seeing their faces, he asks what’s wrong. Kim asks Josslyn for a moment alone, but Oscar wants her to stay. Josslyn says only if it’s okay with his parents, and Drew thinks it’s a good idea. He closes the door. We don’t hear them. We only see Oscar’s face as they tell him.

Tomorrow, Josslyn wants to take Oscar to one of those places, Franco tells Elizabeth the trial didn’t work, and Sam says she’s being set up.

Vanderpump Rules

Meanwhile, at Vanderpump Dogs, the SUR employees arrive with their pets. Lisa tells them that Yulin is starting again. The situation has improved, but it’s still going on. She’s hoping her campaign will stop the torture and garner attention. Everyone puts on tattoos saying, stop the torture. She wants all dog lovers to wear the tattoo and post it on social media. Even Kristen. The group discusses James. Everyone agrees that he should be gone, and Stassi says they’ll be able to have dinner at SUR again. James shows up, saying he’s not missing the dog event. He’s going to try get back in Lisa’s good graces. Jax thinks it takes something like this to wake him up. In her interview, Kristen says just showing up with a cute puppy doesn’t make you a good person. Charles Manson had dogs. I dunno about that. Usually people make that reference to Hitler, who definitely had a dog. Scheana blathers on about wanting to be single, even though it sounds like she has a new man in her sights. In Jax’s interview, he says, Scheana has one speed; psycho stalker girlfriend.

Stassi is getting excited about her joint birthday party, but stressed out. Ariana is stressed out about James, who is going to be disinvited. Stassi wonders what he’s thinking when he acts like an a-hole, which is 98% of the time. Lisa sees James, and asks how he’s doing. She’s going to talk to his mother, and tell her that James needs support from her. There needs to be a major shift in his attitude. In her interview, Lisa says James was only twenty when she met him. His parents asked her to give him a job. She thought he was destined for success, and feels like this is a personal failure. She knows sometimes she shouldn’t be as involved as she is, but can’t help it. James insists he’s changing his ways.

Ariana asks if Raquel is coming. and Stassi says she is. Ariana calls James over, and explains there are people coming to the party who aren’t comfortable with him being there. He asks if he’s being disinvited, and Stassi says, if Katie and Brittany can’t be at their workplace without being wary of him, how can they be at a party? In James’s interview, he says he thought Ariana was his friend, and it’s sucky that she’s joining forces with Stassi. Ariana says she wants him to come, but not at the discomfort of others. In his interview, he adds that he though she was a leader, but he guesses she’s a follower. I guess he’s not a listener.

Lala and Brittany go to a spa for a booty smoothie. Lala explains, it’s a facial for your bum area. In her interview, Lala says, the booty takes a beating, and her dude is an ass man… and a vagina man… and a boob man… He’s just a man. Afterwards, she says her booty is ready to get some play. She asks Brittany if anyone has asked if she’s worried about Jax. She heard Tom and Ariana talking about how his track record shouldn’t be ignored. We flash back to Tom saying Jax is emotional over his dad, but when it wears off, he’ll be back to his old ways. Brittany says she’s not looking past it, but it feels like a new relationship. In Brittany’s interview, she says she’s disappointed, since Tom and Ariana were just helping them celebrate. She tells Lala she didn’t have Jax’s back last year, but now he’s her family. She’s following her heart.

Beau brings food to Stassi’s place. In her interview, Stassi says after dating five months, she and Beau went to Europe. He surprised her by taking her to several cemeteries. She tells him the cheese won’t taste the same as in Italy. She tells us that he’s different from Patrick. He doesn’t use words she doesn’t understand to be condescending. We flash back to that. In Stassi’s interview, she tells Patrick that she hopes she’s not viewing this myopically, but she feels galvanized by her relationship, you effing d*ck. She’s excited being thirty; it’s a milestone, and she’s proud. She has a great relationship and great friends. Twenty three year old Stassi wasn’t grateful for anything. Now she’s thankful she’s an effing adult.

At Scheana’s new apartment, Adam helps put a daybed together. In her interview, Scheana says she’s attracted to him, but he tells her that he doesn’t want a relationship. She keeps making suggestive comments, but he ignores it. She doesn’t mind flirting with him. Maybe one time he’ll say yes. I don’t know if I’d call what she’s doing flirting. More like a blatant come-on. Which is fine, but he really doesn’t seem interested. He asks about the party, and she assumed the two of them are going together. It’s a winter theme, using Game of Thrones for inspiration. Scheana doesn’t watch it. She claims he’d said it’s her only flaw.

Lisa visits TomTom. She’s ready for it to be open. They’re behind schedule, and have a deadline that she wants to stick with, despite the unforeseen hurdles. James’s mother Jackie stops by. She tells Lisa that she’s nine moths sober. Lisa says she should be proud, and tells Jackie that she’s concerned about James. He has unbelievable disrespect for women. Jackie stops her there, saying she gets the whole movement, but when women come at James, where does he go? Clearly she isn’t interested in preparing her son for the real world. Lisa says his drinking isn’t helping, but Jackie says they’re not talking about that. She says when the alcohol is coupled with him being attacked, how is he supposed to defend himself? Lisa says, not like that, and blurts out that James lost his job. Jackie starts to cry, and asks what he did. She wants to know what set him off. Lisa is much more of a soft touch than I am. This woman is so pissing me off, making it sound like James’s bad behavior is someone else’s fault. No wonder he’s the way he is. I want to smack her, especially since she’s borderline angry at Lisa for being truthful. Lisa says if she’s defending him, it’s not helping. Jackie says she wants to understand. Lisa tells her that she doesn’t have to be there. James should be in therapy, and learning to control his anger. He has to change the way he speaks to women. Jackie says she’s working up the nerve to have balls toward him, because she made mistakes as a mother. She’s allowed him to speak that way, even to her. In Lisa’s interview, she says she has admiration for Jackie’s honesty. There’s no perfect parent, but a sober parent makes wiser decisions. Jackie asks Lisa to give Tuesday night back to James. It scares her, taking everything away, pounding someone when they’re already low. She begs Lisa to do it – for her. Lisa puts her head in her hands, and says right now she can’t put him in SUR; the way he’s spoken to some of the girls. Jackie says Lisa is his mother figure, and Lisa says, no; Jackie is. She needs Jackie to be strong for her son. I’m glad Lisa drew the line there.

We hear Christmas music, which always weirds me out in warm-weather climates. Stassi, Ariana, Katie, and Kristen go to the Almost Christmas store. Kristen explains they’re doing a winter wonderland, ice queen, fierce themed party. In her interview, Stassi says, it’s going to be stress free, and fun as sh*t. She and Ariana both love a theme, and this year, their friends don’t have to choose which party to go to. Stassi sees some weird animated elves, and says it wouldn’t be her birthday without something creepy. They pick out some elves and trees, and set up the delivery. Stassi says she’s thirty, in a healthy relationship, loves her apartment, and loves her dogs. Katie tells her that her little meltdowns don’t matter as much, and Stassi realizes she can’t have meltdowns anymore. We flash back to some of them, and she says she’s past birthday meltdowns… she thinks.

Tom and Schwartz visit Villa Rosa, where Lisa is nursing a bird she found that flew in, and hit a window. In her interview, Lisa says she thinks she was put on the earth to help every wounded bird that comes her way. She asks Schwartz to count the busser shirts, while she talks to tom. She says Tom is the only person who sees James as someone struggling. Tom doesn’t think James has ever had a close friend. The bird Lisa has been holding suddenly springs to life, climbing up the front of her. In his interview, Tom says, Lisa is like Snow White. She can nurse a bird back to health by holding it against her bosom. Lisa thinks James needs therapy. She tells Tom with the help of them and his mom, he can hope toward a better future. In Lisa’s interview, she says if James changes the way he deals with people and moves on, he’ll be fine. She wants the best for him. She tells Tom that James might not be working for her, but she’s not deserting him. Schwarz comes out, and Lisa tells them to take the shirts, and decide where the logo should go. Schwartz counted fifty-seven, but Lisa says there should be eighty-four. They recount the shirts, and she’s correct. In his interview, Schwartz says he’s always had a knack for numbers.

Stassi says everyone is doing their part to help set up the party. Kristen got the house, Brittany got the bartender, and Beau is helping set up. We see Carter using a VR headset. She tells Ariana that one of the perks of being in the industry are that they have hookups everywhere. She and Ariana get their makeup done. In her interview, Stassi says they both decided to be bejeweled beautiful ice queens, with the same hair, makeup, and outfit, so they’re not out-hotting each other. Brittany gets her makeup done, and the ice sculpture comes. Jax shows Brittany what he’s wearing. She tells him about what Ariana and Tom said. She says they don’t think Jax might have really changed, and it’s just that his dad passed away. In Jax’s interview, he wonders what right Tom has to question him. He doesn’t ask questions about Ariana not wanting to marry Tom. He tells Brittany, apparently, Tom and Ariana’s relationship is perfect. Ariana doesn’t want marriage, and Tom sees his friends doing well, so he wants to break them down. Brittany thinks he should talk to Tom. Jax says he was going ask Tom to be his best man. Why be there if he’s not going to be supportive?

At James and Raquel’s place, things aren’t as festive. James is puttering around in the kitchen, when Lisa knocks on the door. In his interview, James says, it’s like the Queen of London visiting the peasants in the old tower. His couch is clean, but he still wants to put a tea towel down for her to sit on. He says Raquel is doing some modeling, and going to the party afterward. Lisa thinks if her partner wasn’t invited, her allegiance would be with her partner. James says he’s not mad. He has bigger things to worry about. She spoke to his mother, and sees a vast difference in how she is. James says he’s proud of her. In James’s interview, he says he and his brothers would come home to their mom drinking, and it would cause fights. He moved out at eighteen. Lisa tells him, being a drunk is not an option, and she hopes she never sees him drunk again. He tells her that his dad is staying with his old roommate Paul. Lisa asks if he’s helping his family, and James says, why wouldn’t he? In Lisa’s interview, she says James’s one redeeming quality is that he stepped up to help his family. At twenty-six, it’s a big responsibility. She tells him that he’s coming across as a humble human, and it’s better than him being an aggressive pr*ck. She says she’s not giving up on him. He thanks her for caring. it means the world to him.

Ariana and Stassi put the finishing touches on their costumes. Stassi thinks Katie looks scary hot as a winter warrior princess. Schwartz, who’s dressed as a bath salt elf, wonders what would happened if they conceived a baby in these outfits? Everyone trickles in. Tom is wearing a custom-made headpiece. He says he centered the costume around it, then found a fur jacket, and the outfit magically came together. He’s the Winter Duke of the North. Okay. Katie introduces the birthday queens. Stassi and Ariana toast each other. In her interview, Ariana says she heard about Stassi’s butt shot tragedy, so she gets a redo. She bends over Stassi’s lap, but Stassi just drinks out of a glass in her hand. Then Stassi puts a glass between her boobs, and pours it into Ariana’s mouth. Or tries to anyway. It just looks messy and awkward, and I’m wondering, why are they doing this? In Katie’s interview, she’s glad Stassi is being the weirdo she is. Patrick wouldn’t have it, but Beau loves her for who she is. Scheana never thought Ariana was this into Stassi, and says, it’s effing weird.

Raquel arrives in silver sequins. In her interview, Kristen says she doesn’t like Raquel, but likes the thought of James home alone. She brings Raquel a welcome drink, and Raquel asks if there’s anything in it. Kristen says, you can’t taste roofies, and Raquel says, that’s reassuring. Beau is wearing an outfit with a lot of tiny, blinking Christmas lights, and Stassi’s mom tells him that he should have a light on his package, appalling both Stassi and me. In his interview, Beau says he’s never had a girlfriend’s mom talk about his package. Awkward. What’s with these people? Last time it was Patrick commenting on Lisa’s ass.

Jax says he’s heard Tom’s been talking negatively about his relationship. He wants Tom handling his bachelor party, and to be his best man. Tom says he was just concerned, and hoping Jax’s father’s death isn’t too much of a catalyst. In Tom’s interview, he says, Jax is a recovering sociopath. He doesn’t want the engagement to turn into something Jax is excited about, then gets bored with, and moves on. Jax says he would never talk about Tom’s relationship. Tom says he’s concerned about when the dust settles, and it’s not something that’s always on Jax’s mind. Jax says after all the things they went through, Brittany still wanted to work it out. Tom says he’s known Jax a long time, and Jax says he knows he has bad tendencies, but he’s doing the right thing. In his interview, Jax says, unlike how Tom is treating him now, he’ll be happy when Tom is engaged, but he knows that’s never going to happen. They hug it out.

The queens wear garbage bags over their outfits, and drink from a blood fountain. I have no clue what it is, but I don’t think it’s real blood. Lala wants to wear Tom’s headpiece in real life. He says she can borrow it. Stassi thanks Raquel for coming, and Raquel says she heard Katie wouldn’t be comfortable with James there. Ariana says she’d love for him to be there, and Stassi says she wouldn’t. Raquel says he hasn’t had a drink since then, but Ariana thinks it’s too fresh. Raquel says she’s trying to get him where they all want him to be. Stassi wants him to be normal, but he body shamed her best friend. Is Raquel stupid? Raquel tells Stassi not to say she’s stupid, and Stassi tells Raquel that she deserves more. When she was in her early twenties, she thought the same thing. In her interview, Stassi understands what it’s like to be in a relationship with someone sh*tty. We flash back to Jax, some other guy whose name I don’t remember, and Patrick. Stassi says she was defending him constantly; she gets Raquel. Raquel says it’s unwanted wisdom, so Stassi gives up. Other guests don bags, and drink from the fountain. Stassi gets stuck on someone else’s costume. In her interview, she says she’s more relaxed this birthday, and a lot has to do with Beau. He’s the best, and she freaking loves him. She asks if she sounds like Scheana talking about Rob. Her worst nightmare.

It’s almost 2 am, and Stassi takes off her makeup. She texts Beau that she’s tired, and asks him to come to bed. She tries to call, and it goes to voicemail. In her interview, she says she wants him in bed with her at the end of the night, so she knows everything is okay. She wants him to love her, and she wants to know she’s loved. He’s still partying and laughing with the other dudes. She leaves a message. She knows he’s read her texts, and he’s legitimately ignoring her. Being left is a big deal; it kills her. She slams down the phone and cries.

Next time, Stassi confronts Beau about her concern that he’ll leave her, the girls have a smashing party, Stassi’s mother embarrasses her, and a staff meeting is held about James.

📺 👀 My Weekend Viewing…

Last weekend, I continued my Downton Abbey binge, but took a break for A Quiet Place. You probably already know the gist of the film. A family has to hide from monsters who find their prey by sound, so there’s precious little of it. This also makes the actors have to work at least twice as hard, so it had to be a labor of love for Jim John Krasinski, as he wrote it, directed it, and starred in it. And I doubt he got three paychecks. He and real life wife Emily Blunt are superb, as are the kids. I was impressed and riveted. Since it’s just premiering on cable, I don’t want to give the ending away, but let me say this. At first, I was like, I want my money back. Then I thought, ‘twas feedback killed the beast. And finally, I was, ha-ha-ha! Girls rule! Catch it if you can

In other viewing, we’re at the Couples Tell All point on 90 Day Fiancé, as I feverishly work on my dissertation of the season. And quite a season it was, with two couples having a baby – one on the scene before the season started, and another born during. There was witchy-poo Leida, who finally trumped Jax for worst human being on earth, and might as well have said she’s just in it for the green card and whatever else she can get. We also have Colt and Larissa, possibly the most popular with the fans, but not necessarily in a good way. I was skeptical of her intentions, since dude lives with his mother and a bunch of cats. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but come on. She’s a hottie from Brazil. I’m not sure what it is he has – I don’t see it – but I think she really wants him. Things went from bad to worse, with Colt’s cousin hammering insults at her while Colt just looked at the sky. Then, on a subsequent occasion, Colt called the police when he couldn’t handle Larissa in an argument. This turned out to be a seriously bad move. Even though he told them not to come, they showed up, and even though he declined to press charges, the state had other ideas. No surprise, this doesn’t look good when applying for a green card. They got married anyway, and, well, a conversation for another blog.

The weirdest thing was, I had a dream about Colt. We were co-workers at a restaurant. I have no idea what that means. Sundays have turned out to give great TV – 90 Day Fiancé, Dirty John, and Return to Amish. It’s a night I’d rather watch than write about, although I take notes on 90 Day Fiancé. That show is such crap, but I could watch it all day. I guess that’s how some people feel about Big Brother. I tried watching that, but I just couldn’t stick with it. Dirty John is at the opposite end of the spectrum, with excellent writing and acting.

In other news, while browsing entertainment articles online, I saw an article praising George Clooney for being “humble and approachable” on the set of Catch-22. Why wouldn’t he be? Why is he being given kudos for something that would be expected at any other job?

November 26, 2018 – A Knot is Almost Tied, the OC Reunites, a Mexican Rehash, Some Dirty & the Dress

General Hospital

Anna pops champagne. Maxie tells Jordan to leave her robe on. They don’t need any champagne/wardrobe malfunctions. They toast to Jordan. Anna says she’s privileged to have Jordan as a colleague, and proud to have her as a friend. She deserves every happiness.

Curtis calls Stella. He knows she said she wouldn’t be there, but he’d love if she changed her mind. He loves her; they all do. Nina joins him, and says, as best person, there are some things they need to discuss.

Monica opens a box, and asks what everyone thinks. Ned says it looks delicious. She asks, why tempt fate? They end up eating pizza every year anyway, so why not do it up proud this time? She contacted Chef Santora, and had gourmet pizza sent from his Michelin star restaurant. Olivia-Q tells Ned that Chef Santora has the same pizza oven she wanted. Monica wasn’t stressing over a dinner that was going to implode regardless. Now they can focus on the important things. The doorbell rings. Kim thanks everyone for bringing something for the soup kitchen. Ned answers the door. It’s Julian with boxes of food. He says, happy Thanksgiving, Ted. Kim comes out, and Ned tells her it was presumptuous to invite Julian. Olivia, who’s followed her, says Kim didn’t invite him. She did.

Bobbie arrives at Sonny’s. Michael tells her Carly will be late. There’s a minor crisis at the hotel. Bobbie asks about Josslyn, and Michael says he got a cryptic message that she’ll be home soon, but has to take care of something first.

Josslyn walks into Charlie’s. Oscar has his back to the door, and says, sorry, they’re closed. Josslyn says, great. They won’t be interrupted. Oscar asks what she’s doing there, and she says, asking for the truth. Is he sick?

Griff takes a selfie with Kiki, as they get ready for the wedding. She tells him, no more pictures until they get there, and he calls her a party pooper. She thanks him for making her forget how mad she is at her mom. Every time she lets Ava into her life, she does something awful like knock him over the head. Griff says, that was extreme, even for Ava. Kiki has a mind to turn her in to the cops.

At the gallery, not-Doc kisses Ava. In the doorway, Laura sees, and says, oh my God. She asked over and over why he wanted a separation. Now she knows.

Leo tells Julian that he drew a turkey for him. Julian suggests Leo show him, since he thinks Leo’s mom and Ted have things to talk about. Leo says, his name’s Ned, and Julian is like, oops, sorry.

Oscar tells Josslyn that he’s coming down with a cold, and has work to do. Josslyn tells him, stop lying. He’s sick, really sick, isn’t he? He says Cameron told her. He swore he wouldn’t say anything. She says, so it’s obviously true. He doesn’t want talk about it, and she says, just tell her. He says it’s none of her boyfriend’s business. She says Cameron isn’t her boyfriend. They faked the whole thing to make him jealous. Oscar says, it worked. Josslyn says, he still cares about her? and he says he never stopped.

Monica tells Drew that she texted Oscar, telling him that he’s welcome there if he changes his mind. Drew appreciates it, but doesn’t think Oscar will come. She says she tried to get through to him about the amino therapy, but Drew thinks Oscar wants to make his own choices. Monica wonders what happens if Oscar wins the legal right to decide treatment.

Stella arrives at the Quartermaine’s. Mike is glad to see her, but was hoping she would be a last minute cancelation. She asks what kind of greeting that is, but he says he was assuming she had another, more important, place to be.

Nina tells Curtis, always tell the truth. If the truth hurts, spruce it up, but never lie. Gifts help. But most important, never cheat. Curtis says he’s a grown man. He doesn’t need the talk. She says she’s been married a couple of times, and wants him to know what he’s getting himself into. Peter walks in, and Curtis says, back at her.

Kiki tells Griff they’d be better off if Ava was behind bars. He says, proving she drugged Sasha is harder than proving Sasha was drugged, and adds, the best revenge is a life well lived. Kiki says that’s not how her mom sees it. She’s not backing off unless they get lucky, and she finds someone else to focus on.

Laura says not-Doc was too much of a coward to tell her. Ava tries to tell Laura that they’re not having an affair, but Ava is the last person she wants to hear from. She was talking to her husband. Not-Doc says he was completely honest; their marriage is over. She says it’s bad enough that he was seeing someone behind her back, but he cheated with the person who sold out Nikolas’s memory. Does he have any idea what kind of betrayal that is? Maybe Ava can explain it to him, since she’s an expert on betrayal. Now he’s sunk to her level.

Leo wants to add a dog to his picture, and Julian tells him, every turkey needs a dog. Kim asks if they’re all set. If Oscar wins, Julian’s people grab him.

Brad and Lucas come in to Sonny’s. Brad apologizes for being late; Wiley was napping. Bobbie says Wiley is worth the wait. Lucas says, what about him? and she asks if he brought dessert. Brad sees Michael and asks what he’s doing there. Michael tells him that people usually say happy Thanksgiving, and Brad says he thought Michael would be at the Quartermaine’s. Michael says they always eat later. He asks to hold Wiley. Brad hands Wiley over, and asks where the bar is.

Ava tells Laura that not-Doc is telling the truth. Not-Doc says she wouldn’t it believe anyway, and asks if Laura is just about done here. Laura says she keeps looking in his eyes for a trace of the man she married, but she doesn’t see him at all. He’s like a stranger, and she’s probably better off. She tells Ava that she came to discuss her donation. She rips up the check, saying she doesn’t accept blood money, and storms out.

Kiki and Griff kiss, which leads to Kiki and Griff getting busy.

Anna gives Jordan a bracelet for something borrowed. She was wearing it the day they met; when she tried to arrest Jordan, who almost ruined her case. Jordan believes Anna’s words were, completely tanked her operation. Anna says, it was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. Molly has the blue; earrings that TJ gave her. They made her feel special. She says Jordan always made her feel welcome, and like a part of the family. Jordan says her son is lucky to have Molly, and she is too. Maxie has something new, but Lulu says she does too.

Ned doesn’t understand why Olivia didn’t warn him. She says she knew he’d object. He needed to see it with his own eyes, how much Julian means to Leo. Ned says he’s trying be mature about it. Olivia says no one is replacing Ned, but they owe it to Leo to be copacetic with Julian. Ned points out that Olivia is singing a different tune, but she says Julian has been a different man since he got out of prison.

Julian tells Kim that he’s been in touch with his former associates, but he needs her to think long and hard before it goes too far. Kim says she has, and she’s running out of options. If the court rules in Oscar’s favor, she’s going to need his help. Drew watches them.

Oscar says Josslyn is the first person he wanted to tell, and she asks why he didn’t. He says he saw the hell he was going to go through, and didn’t want her going through it with him. He wanted her to forget him, be happy, and move on. She asks, forget how? She loves him, and never stopped. She doesn’t care how hard it is. They’ll do what it takes to get him better. He tells her that he’s not going to get better.

Not-Doc tells Ava that he’s sorry; Laura was out of bounds. She says she’s used to being the town pariah. Her daughter blames every terrible thing that happens in the world on her. Not-Doc says she doesn’t deserve it. Ava says Laura walked in on a spur-of-the-moment kiss, and she doesn’t want it getting in the way of their reconciliation. He says they’re not reconciling, but he’s sorry he overstepped. She asks, who said he did? Whatever he felt, she felt it too. They kiss again.

Kiki tells Griff if they hurry, they can still be late for the wedding. He tells her she looks beautiful, and she says he’s very biased. Griff’s phone rings. It’s Monica, who wants to let him know the board made a decision about his suspension. Hospital policy prevents her telling him over the phone, but she left a copy at the hospital for him to sign. Kiki says they’re going to be even later, but he’s not sure he wants to know. Kiki says Monica wouldn’t have called if it wasn’t good news. He suggests she stay and get ready, and he’ll meet her at the church. He asks why they don’t get away for the holidays; someplace warm. It’s their last chance before life starts up again. She says she’d like that. They kiss some more, and she pushes him out the door.

Maxie tells Lulu that she said something old. Lulu insists Maxie told her to bring something new. Maxie asks why she would have said that when she was the one organizing things? Jordan says it’s fine. She doesn’t believe in old superstitions. Nothing is going to go wrong. Well, we all know what that means now that she said it.

TJ tells Curtis that he tried to get through to Stella, and just focus on how happy he and Jordan make each other. Curtis asks since when does TJ offer advice to his elders? TJ says he’s been in the same relationship for years. Curtis asks what his secret is, and TJ says, cherish what you have, and try not to screw it up.

Maxie comes out. Peter tells her that she looks beautiful. She blows him off, saying she has to say hi to Valerie. Nina says, he’s not leaving her unescorted, is he?

Alexis approaches Finn, and says she hopes Anna didn’t stand him up. He says, she’s the matron of honor. He thinks she’s helping Jordan. Alexis says she was just getting a dig in. He seems more dour than usual. He tells her that Curtis gave him a letter from Hayden. She wants to see him, but it’s probably not a good idea. Alexis says, probably not. He’s put that chapter behind him, right?

Josslyn asks what Oscar means. He says, according to the doctors, he has less than one year. Josslyn says, that can’t be true. His life just started. They have so many things to do together. He says that’s what he thought, but he has a malignant brain tumor; it’s inoperable. She says there must be some way to fight it. Jason had a brain tumor and survived. Oscar says there’s a drug trial that his parents want him in, and Josslyn says, good. That means there’s hope. He says he’s not doing it, and walks away.

Kim thanks Julian. Drew comes over to them, and says he heard Julian planning on kidnapping his son. Kim says it was her idea; anything he has to say, talk to her. He tells Julian to stay the hell away from Oscar, and Julian asks if Drew heard him say he was planning on taking Oscar out of the country. Kim is like, what? and Julian says he’ll leave them to it. Kim tells Drew it was her only option. Drew asks what if she gets Oscar to Brazil and he still refuses treatment. What’s her plan then?

Julian phones Lucas, and speaks with him and Brad. Lucas says he has to do some damage control, and leaves the conversation. Julian asks how Brad is holding up. Brad says he’s been doing some soul searching, and the truth is, Wiley is where he belongs. Julian asks if he’s ready to move on, raise his son, and be happy. Brad says he’s made peace with the choices he’s made, for better or worse.

Laura gets to the church. Lulu tells her that they’re about to start. She asks what’s wrong, and Laura says they’ll talk later. They go into the church.

Ava and not-Doc kiss some more. He doesn’t know what it is, but he wants to spend as much time as possible with her, and hopes she feels the same. Ava says they’re both Thanksgiving orphans. Why don’t they spend it together? He asks if she’s offering to cook, and she says, no, but she has turkey sandwiches. They can pour some potato vodka into cranberry juice and call it Thanksgiving. He’s glad he talked her out of leaving town, but she doesn’t now if she can stay. How long is Kiki going to be flaunting her relationship with Griff in her face? She would be better off if she wasn’t there, or Kiki wasn’t. Ava suggests they adjourn to her apartment. He says he’ll meet her there. He has business to take care of.

Kiki almost leaves, but goes back in for a wrap. Her word, not mine.

Sonny wants to give a pre-dinner toast. Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday, and he wants to tell them the reason why. Mike suggests food, and Sonny says that’s good, but it’s always the time they get everyone together to give thanks for their blessings, especially family. He knows they’ve had a lot of losses, but they’ve also had incredible additions. Right on cue, Wiley makes baby sounds and looks super cute. Sonny says, funny about family; you can’t always choose who’s in it, but it’s the most important thing in the whole world. They toast. Stella ponders this.

TJ goes to find Jordan. She says he means so much to her, and he says he’s glad she and Curtis found each other. They deserve to be happy. She apologizes for not being there for him all those years when she was chasing bad guys. He says her job kept them apart, but she showed him to do the right thing, no matter what the cost. She’s his hero.

Drew tells Kim that Oscar isn’t a child. They can’t make him do anything, short of restraining him. She says, if that’s what it comes to. He tells her no ethical doctor would treat him under the circumstances. Kim wonders what’s wrong with Drew; what if Oscar dies? Drew says, if he does, he doesn’t want Oscar to live his last days as a prisoner. The decisions they make about Oscar are decisions they’ll have to live the rest of their lives with. She needs to think long and hard about what she’s going to do, since she has to live with it.

Josslyn asks why Oscar wouldn’t want treatment that would cure him. He tells her it’s experimental. People have improved, but someone died. She said without it, he’ll die anyway, but he says he doesn’t want his last days being lived as a vegetable, or so sick he can’t leave his bed. She asks what the risks are against the payout. That’s how her dad figures out business deals. He says it’s not a business deal; it’s his life. She tells him that’s why they have to find out what the odds are. Based on what he’s telling her, the odds are 100% that he’ll die without it.

Monica wonders why no one has picked up the boxes that Julian donated. Ned says he thought a volunteer picked them up an hour ago. Olivia says she saw someone carrying something out of the kitchen, but Monica says all the donated food is still there. She wonders what they could have taken, and they realize – the pizza.

Oscar doesn’t think it’s right for his parents to force him into the trial. They think it’s worth the risk, but it’s not their decision. He’s not doing this for them. Josslyn says, what about her? Oscar tells her that he already said he didn’t want to risk the time he has left. She says what about the time they already lost, and he says he thought he was protecting her. She says she can’t force him, but whatever he decides, she promises she’ll be there every step of the way. He hugs her.

Kim asks Julian why he let her think he was going to help her, when he had no intention of following through. She was hoping she could count on him. She walks away.

Griff gets to the church. He sits with Laura and Lulu, asking if they’ve seen Kiki. They haven’t, and he says he thought she’d be there be now. Lulu thinks she must be running behind.

Kiki is wandering around the apartment, looking for her pashmina. Seriously?

Mike tells Stella that he doesn’t mean to pry, but the fellow they ran into… Stella says, Marcus? What about him? Mike says he had the feeling they were more than old friends. Stella says, nothing gets past him. They were serious at one time. She’s often wondered what might have been had they stayed together, but wouldn’t change the life she has now, and knows Marcus feels the same. What’s done is done. There’s no use wishing to change the past. Mike says, the trick is to make decisions now that you don’t regret later. Good luck with that.

Nina asks if Curtis is ready for this, and he says, more than anything. Finn sits with Chase. The music starts. Anna comes in first, followed by Jordan with TJ. Nice dress. Double spaghetti straps with a lace overlay, and I’m loving the tiered skirt (see end of post for a pic – I know my fashion descriptions suck). TJ brings the bride to her groom, and hugs Curtis. Jordan mouths, I love you, and the pastor begins.

There are take-out containers on the table, and Michael says that doesn’t look like Chef Santora’s work. Monica says they accidentally donated the gourmet pizza to the soup kitchen. She doesn’t think it would be a good idea to ask for it back, and Ned says it wouldn’t be good for his poll numbers. Michael says, no Quartermaine Thanksgiving ever goes as planned. Why change anything now? They sing, We Gather Together. I get teary, and feel grateful that GH has kept this tradition. Julian looks at Kim, who won’t look at him. The doorbell rings, and Drew leaves to answer it.

Josslyn comes home. She sits on the floor and cries.

Drew opens the door. It’s Oscar. Kim walks up behind Drew, and Oscar and his parents look at each other.

The pastor says, the bond of marriage is more than the union of two souls; it’s a bridge. Two families coming together as one. He says, if anyone can show just cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace. (Which, btw, is almost never said anymore, except for soap weddings.) They hear a door shut, and Stella walks in. Jordan looks worried.

Out in the vestibule, Griff calls Kiki. He leaves a message asking where she is. He’s getting worried. He gives one of his best worried looks.

Ava freshens her makeup at the gallery. Not worried at all.

Kiki – who should be worried– finds her pashmina, and opens the door to not-Doc.

Tomorrow, Kim tells Julian it’s her call not his, Carly tells Josslyn that she can’t make the choice for Oscar, and Stella has to speak her piece.

The Real Housewives of Orange County – The Reunion, Part One

Emily’s goal is to not threaten anyone. Kelly isn’t ready for this. Briana and Vicki FaceTime. Andy finds out Shannon hasn’t spoken to Tamra. Kelly wants an effing minute.

Shane has been blowing up Emily’s phone with what they’re going to say, and what she should say if they say that. We discover Shannon has lost thirty-two pounds, and Tamra got a lower face lift. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Vicki’s kids are worried about her going under again, and swears that’s it. They discuss Vicki’s insurance policy on Don. She figures she’ll get back the money she had to pay him in alimony.

On their trip to Mexico, Tamra, Shannon, and Vicki were the Tres Amigas, based on boobs, booze, and a broken foot. We flash back to their moments together on the trip. Andy tells us that at last year’s reunion, Vicki got to a place of forgiveness, and Vicki declares it awesome. Andy says she got a fresh. At first Tamra was all skeptical, but it got back to where they were. A viewer asks Shannon if David being out of the picture made them closer. Shannon says, not being married made it easier, and they made a pact to move forward. Andy brings up how Vicki said she never wanted to be that girl again when she was at the old lady party, referring to the younger girls. Emily says Vicki is that girl; she still parties. Gina says she was insulting, and it’s an opportunity to say she was wrong. Kelly calls her hypocritical; it’s her M.O. Vicki says she meant she doesn’t want to be single again. Her other M.O., pretending people misunderstood. Gina says he can’t help it if she doesn’t have a husband. Vicki apologizes.

Andy reads a viewer’s comment that Vicki claimed Brooks was her soulmate. They ask if Steve is her soulmate. Shannon’s opinion that they weren’t in love is brought up, but Shannon says, at the time, she had only met Steve briefly twice. She’s spent time with them since, and believes they’re in love. Emily admires their relationship. She’s met him, and she thought he was kind. Andy says Vicki was trying to keep a lid on her behavior because of Steve, and we flash back to her promising not to get naked wasted, and him telling her not to do anything she wouldn’t do in front of the grandkids. Tamra says she saw Vicki changing into someone she didn’t know, and she thought it was to make Steve happy. Andy says Steve did tell her to put a lid on it, and she did. Tamra agrees. Kelly jumps in, and they nearly get in an argument over this. Vicki tells Kelly, dial it down, and Kelly says don’t tell her what to do.

Andy says this season started with the final stop of Vicki’s apology tour, and the tour ended with an apology to Eddie. During the rest of the season, Vicki was trying to be the future Mrs. Steve. We see clips of Vicki putting the pressure on. Tamra wonders if Vicki is trying to convince herself that Steve is the one. Andy says it was sweet seeing Steve take care of Vicki after her surgery. Vicki doesn’t remember any of it, and saw it for the first time when everyone else did. She says Steve isn’t emotional like she is, so it’s interesting that she’s attracted to him, but his stability and kindness make him attractive. Andy asks when she thinks he’ll propose. She doesn’t think it will be a conventional proposal, and they’ll decide together. Andy says she kind of already has proposed to Steve, and we flash back to her asking him to marry her, and then saying, never mind, when he says, what? She repeats they’ll decide together when the time is right. Andy asks why they’re in couples therapy, and she says she doesn’t want to be divorced again. They haven’t gone yet, but she wants to make sure there are no red flags. Everything the counselor told her and Don turned out to be true, and they ended up getting a divorce. Gina wishes she had done it. Shannon says she did, and see how that worked out.

Andy asks for a show of hands on who thinks Vicki and Steve will get married. It seems to be only Shannon and Tamra, who says, season 14. Kelly thinks Steve believes marriage is just if you want to have children. He’s happy being with her, so what’s the point? Vicki says he’s been married three times. Emily thinks they’re committed to each other, and stand up for one another. Andy asks if Vicki wants to marry Steve, or just wants to get married. Vicki says she’s not in a hurry; they’re in a great place. A viewer asks if she thinks the new series Dirty John has similarities to her relationship with Brooks. Vicki says, completely. Andy explains it’s about a successful OC businesswoman who gets conned. Andy adds that Brooks is not a murderer, I assume giving away a huge plot point. Vicki says he murdered her self-esteem and pocketbook. She’s going after him for the latter. Kelly asks if he has any money to go after, and Vicki says she has a spreadsheet on him. Tamra thinks she should close that chapter, but Vicki says there’s no emotion; she just wants her money. Andy asks why Vicki fell for him, and she says he was complimentary. Kelly says he told her what she wanted to hear. Vicki says Don was a good husband, but she always felt inferior. Andy wonders if Brooks studied the show beforehand. Tamra is sure he must have. Andy asks if Vicki wishes she’d stayed with Don, and she says she wishes she hadn’t left Don for Brooks. We flash back to the reunion when Briana accused Brooks of breaking up her parents’ marriage. Vicki says she’s in a better place now, but it was five/six years of hell.

We see Gina’s introduction to the series. Andy says Matt was MIA, and Emily insists he exists; she’s met him. A viewer asks if Gina started the show knowing she was getting a divorce. Gina says she knew her marriage was in a down, but didn’t know it would end up in divorce. Shannon says her story is similar. She thought if David saw it captured on film, it would be a good thing. Gina thought so too, but Matt couldn’t film because of his job. His employer said no, and would have fired him. Obviously, they’ve seen the show. Emily wonders if he’d filmed with Gina, if they still would have divorced. We find out he comes home on the weekends, they’re not having sex, and they still haven’t told the kids. Gina says they’re afraid of having the discussion. Good Lord. Those kids are going to be in college by the time the know. Tamra asks how they’re explaining things, since it’s a small house. Gina says since Matt lives in another house when he’s working, they tell the kids that she’s working when she’s at the casita. Andy asks what the crux of the problem is. Gina says when Matt moved for his job, the relationship wasn’t enough. He’s not the kind of person who builds you up. He’s a good person and father, but not meant to be her husband. She feels bad, because no matter what happens, she respects and loves him; he’s the father of her children. She starts cry, and says they need to have a good relationship because that’s forever. Shannon says it’s hard on her kids. She doesn’t know if it’s better to go through a divorce when they’re bigger or little. Hers grew up with volatility.

Vicki’s Italian dinner is up next for discussion. Kelly says, smart people learn from their mistakes; wise people learn from others. Why? Who knows. Gina says instead of everyone telling her about their experiences, they should have gotten to know her and what her experience is. Andy brings up Vicki thinking that Gina must be divorcing because of an affair. Vicki says if sex isn’t happening in the marriage, people look elsewhere. Shannon says she had a two year dry spell, and never once thought about it. Of course, this is a bad example, since David was having an affair, which several of them point out. Gina thinks a marriage doesn’t end because of an affair, but the affair happened because there was a problem already. Andy asks about Gina not believing in God. Gina says she’s agnostic, but the kids were baptized just in case. Tamra was surprised, but says, to each their own. Emily doesn’t think morality and religion go hand-in-hand. Gina says she might get in the gates before Vicki.

Andy says Vicki and Kelly had been ride-or-die friends, but Vicki learned the cover-up was worse than the crime. We flash back to Vicki telling Kelly about her and Steve’s double-dates with Michael, and Kelly coming against Steve. Andy asks where they’re at today, and Kelly says they don’t speak. He asks how close Steve is to Michael, and Vicki says it caused problems. She doesn’t know when they last saw each other, and Michael is dating someone new. A viewer thinks when there’s a split, the friends should be able to hang out with both. Kelly says that wasn’t the issue. She was freshly divorced, and didn’t know Vicki had hooked Michael up. She heard about the double-dates from someone else. It would been fine if Vicki had told her. Vicki tells her that Michael said it was their business. Andy says it shows where her loyalty lies, and Vicki – who cannot seem to grasp what she did wrong here for anything – says Kelly was dating. Tamra doesn’t think it’s about the dating. Andy asks who thinks Vicki broke girl code, and Emily shouts in her yes vote. Shannon says Vicki should have said something, and Emily says Vicki should have told him that she and Kelly are friends, and she can’t be in that situation. Andy says even after their big fight, Vicki did it again. We see a clip from Watch What Happens Live, where Vicki said they’d gone on another double-date with Michael, but not with the same woman. Kelly says Vicki chose her side. Vicki doesn’t know if there are sides, because she loves playing the dimbulb.

Kelly says Michael has her back, and Vicki says he told her that their marriage was fourteen years of hell. Kelly wonders why Vicki is talking on his behalf. Andy asks how Vicki would have felt if it was Don, and she says she had friends who dated Don, and she didn’t care. They were divorced. Kelly says, Vicki is like a fart; silent, but deadly. Vicki says Michael told her not to share the information. Gina says it was her choice. Kelly says Vicki had no problem sharing what Shannon said in confidence on the bus. Oh snap! We flash back to that. Gina says Vicki has to take personal accountability.

Vicki says Kelly is an unkind person, and Kelly says, so is she – on the sly. Andy says Vicki claims Kelly will only date a man who has money. Kelly asks, if that’s the case, why isn’t she still with Michael? Vicki doesn’t think she loved him, which is just stupid, and Kelly says, of course she did. A viewer asks if Vicki sees a pattern with the men she dates. Kelly says she likes to have Steve do her dirty work. Why would he talk to Page Six? Vicki says he was just corroborating something. Kelly suggests she look at herself, and Vicki says she doesn’t use cocaine. Everyone is like, what? and Kelly asks if Vicki is saying that because she smoked some herb. They can do a drug test, and if she did cocaine, she would be skinny. Not necessarily, but that was really out of left field and nasty. Kelly insists Vicki is familiar with edibles, and everyone says, it’s legal. Vicki acts like she doesn’t understand what edibles are. Kelly says she’s the mother of a young kid. Vicki says she’s never with Jolie, and Gina says, Jolie was in summer camp. Vicki claims Michael said he has more time with her. Kelly gets teary, and Andy puts on his devil horns, and says Vicki just said Kelly uses cocaine and is not a good mother. Vicki tells him not to put words in her mouth. Michael said she’s not with Jolie because she travels a lot. Kelly says she has one week on, and one week off. Vicki says that’s not what Michael tells her, and Kelly says, she believes him? Andy asks if she gets why Kelly is hurt. Vicki says she’s not kind, and needs to take responsibility too. Emily says if she wants to fix things with Kelly, she can’t be friendly with Michael. She doesn’t know what’s true and what’s not, and it looks like they co-parent well. One steps up to the plate when the other has to do something. Kelly says when Michael was in Hong Kong, she never complained.

Vicki doesn’t like way Kelly treats people. If Kelly hits her, she’ll hit back. Andy wonders where they go next. Kelly says Vicki just accused her of doing drugs, and Vicki says Kelly called her fat. Kelly tries to figure out how these two things compare, and Vicki says drugs make people skinny. Kelly said she was a pig on social media. Kelly says she’s not a pig. Stunned Gina says everything they’re saying is not okay. Shannon agrees. They take a break.

Kelly and Gina head for the back. Still at their seats, Tamra tells Vicki that she can’t say that. Vicki says that’s what she heard. Emily says that doesn’t mean there’s evidence. Kelly tells Gina that it’s criminal. Vicki says Kelly went for her, so she’s going back at Kelly. Kelly gets her phone out, and tells the crew that she needs an effing minute. Vicki says Kelly can’t throw sh*t at her and not expect it back. Shannon says they did put up that tweet of Kelly saying she was a pig, but thinks they’re both being cruel.

Kelly calls Michael. She tells him that Vicki said she was a bad mom and does cocaine. Why would she say that? She told Kelly that Michael said he’d lived in fourteen years of hell with her. She said it on camera. Has he ever seen her do drugs? He says, never, and he didn’t tell them anything. She says she was always anti-drug.

Vicki says Kelly is playing the victim, and it’s ridiculous. Michael tells Kelly that they don’t even have a visitation schedule because they agree on everything. Kelly asks why Vicki is saying this, and Michael says he’s not responsible for what she says. Kelly wants to hit Vicki, like most of us at one time or another, and Michael tells her, control her temper. Gina comes in, saying Vicki can’t make up lies like this. Michael and Kelly agree, Jolie is the priority – always.

Vicki whines that Kelly called her a fart, and that’s mean. Shannon tells Vicki that she can’t say Kelly does coke unless she knows it. She’s not getting it.

Next time – the Reunion, Part Two – Shannon talks about custody now being an issue, Gina tells Emily that she shouldn’t have been talking about Shannon’s marriage, Gina doesn’t understand why everyone doesn’t just own it, and Tamra tells Shannon that her favorite words are me and I.

✈ Tonight’s offering of Vanderpump Rules: Passport Edition was basically a rehash of the group’s trip to Mexico, and the brouhaha that occurred when James mistook the words hook up for hang out in reference to Kristen. Good times…  Next week, the season premiere of VPR.

💻 I saw the first episode of Dirty John, and so far, I’m intrigued. Like a Lifetime movie with much better writing, Connie Britton plays a single mother who finds a dude through internet dating. Her daughters are creeped out by him, but can’t put their finger on what’s wrong. Although there’s a huge red flag during their first date. And he’s way too perfect. I find internet dating a little creepy to begin with, so I’m definitely in.
