What I Watched Today
(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital – Thursday

Morgan sees a harpoon (or maybe it’s a giant fishhook) next to the cabin and stabs the door with it, leaving it in the wood.

Anna and Griff are having dinner. They talk about Emma. Emma is upset about Sabrrrina, and it hasn’t been that long since she had to accept Duke’s death. Griff can’t understand how Julian got set free.

Set free and walking into Alexis’s house again. Alexis asks what he’s doing there. This poor woman can’t catch a break to drink alone.

Sonny goes to a church. He tells God that Julian is a free man and he has to take action. A priest asks if he’s there for confession. I guess it would be a pre-confession confession?

Morgan heads to the bar. He sees Nell at a table. She asks how he’s doing and he tells her his girlfriend is cheating on him.

Olivia and Ned just got done with making the earth move. Oh ho! She says they just had sex in the boathouse. That must be who Morgan saw. They talk about keeping their reconnection a secret from Julian.

Yep, it was them. Kiki just gave Dillon a ride to the office. He wants to catch up on some work. He thanks her for the ride and for fixing up his hand. Kiki doesn’t think he’s okay, and she doesn’t mean his hand. He says that’s why he wants to work, to keep him from thinking about Paul. I’m not sure that’s the best idea, since he’s going through the Nurses Ball pictures and the next thing he sees is a picture of Paul.

Anna tells Griff that Paul sabotaged his own case. She says killing Sabrrrina had the collateral benefit of keeping her from testifying. Griff says he tries to tell himself it’s all part of God’s plan. Anna asks if it helps with the anger, but he says no, and hatred is new for him. He can’t get rid of it and it’s not very Christian. Anna says, but it is human.

Alexis tells Julian to get the hell out. He says he didn’t know she was home. She explains a restraining order means he needs to stay away from her and her residence. She goes to the phone, but he says he’s just there to pick up a box and after that, he’ll never darken her door again.

Sonny tells the priest that he’s just there to talk to God. After he leaves, Sonny tells God that he stopped going to confession a long time ago and has no right to ask for forgiveness. He has his own code. He let the court deal with Julian and they failed. He says Julian is a threat and he has to get justice himself. He tells God that He knows everything and knows why Sonny has to do this. Griff enters the church.

Nell tells Morgan she’s sorry to hear it. He apologizes for interrupting and she says she was just looking through some real estate listings since she can afford a place now. She asks him to sit down and asks if he wants to talk.

Apparently, Ned and Olivia were in such a hurry, they forgot to lock the door. Olivia checks it and finds the harpoon. She says someone is trying to send them a message.

Alexis tells Julian she’d say good night, but that would imply she wanted him to have one. Ha-ha! I’ll have to remember that. Julian says he thinks she has a problem and she says she does – him. He opens the door and Anna is on the porch.

Sonny tells Griff he was talking things over with the boss. Griff says it sounds like they’re at church for the same reason. They both put their faith in the justice system and now they have to put their faith in God. Sonny says kinda, sorta. He asks Griff what being humble gets him. Griff says he may not know why things happen or get answers, but he knows grace is there.

Dillon tells Kiki not to worry about him. She replies that she’s said those words herself when her mother does something crazy. She says they’re not responsible for their parents’ misdeeds, but she has a hard time believing it sometimes. Dillon says he feels like a character in a disaster movie, walking around the aftermath in shock. His father never showed his true self. Kiki says Dillon wanted to see the best in Paul and matter to him. Paul claimed he loved Dillon and let him down. She hasn’t been exactly where he is, but pretty close. Dillon says it helps that she understands.

Morgan gets a club soda and tells Nell he’s not drinking any more. He shows her his pill container and says they haven’t been working too well lately. He says the crazy thing is, that everyone tells him if he takes them, everything will be fine, but he feels like hell. He can’t even be like a normal person and drink. She tells him she can’t drink either and asks if he thinks she’s not normal.

Olivia says this is just what she said would happen. Ned says they don’t know why the harpoon is there, but Olivia thinks it’s a threat from Julian. He’s not going to stand by and let Ned be the man in Leo’s life. He’s an abuser and murderer who tried to slit his own wife’s throat. Ned says let’s find him and settle it.

Anna says she wondered when she’d run into Julian, but she didn’t expect it to be at Alexis’s house. He says first and last time, but they’re bound to run into each other since they’re both free. She tells him not to be too smug and what goes around comes around. The damage he’s done is coming back to bite him. He says he has protection from the PCPD from Sonny. She says sometimes your friends are really your enemies. He leaves and Alexis tells her she’s not in the mood and hurry it up.

Sonny says God might not approve of what he’s doing, but God sees his heart and knows why he’s doing it. Griff says his wife doesn’t approve of what he’s doing either. Sonny says Carly wanted him to trust the system, but it failed. The justice he wants isn’t just for him. Julian hurt a lot of people, including Griff. Griff says he wants justice served even more than Sonny does, but what gives Sonny the right to serve it? These are really good questions. Griff has added a lot to the scope of this show.

Morgan says he’s sure Nell means well, but their situations are different. She’s sick because she gave up a kidney. Nell says she was a child who had no choice, and it played with her head; he’s not the only one with problems. Morgan asks if they’re one of a kind, and she says if he wants to see it that way. He says he does and kisses her. Let’s not waste time.

Olivia and Ned go to The Floating Rib and see Julian. Olivia says she got his warning and she has one of her own. She says he might not like that she’s bringing another man into Leo’s life, but that’s no reason to threaten her. Julian has no idea what she’s talking about. Ned gives him a list of his sucky qualities. Julian says if he’s being threatened, he’d like to know why. Olivia shows him a picture of the harpoon in the door.

Alexis tells Anna she’s well aware she screwed up. She says her testimony was an incoherent mess. Anna asks if her drinking has anything to do with it, but Alexis says no, and she has no answer. Maybe it was nerves or stress, or maybe because she was in front of Julian, wondering what the blip happened. She says only one charge mattered to Anna – Duke. Anna says she wanted justice for him, but also for Alexis, and even Carrrlos. She says it was their one chance to get Julian. Alexis says no one is more aware of it than her, no one is more sick about it than her, and no one is more disappointed in her than her. Julian should be in jail and she botched it. Anna says she protected him for the better part of a year and hid it well, but fell apart when they had the chance to get him. Alexis says she gets that she’s a miserable failure and Julian is running around because of her. Anna says she’s said it all.

Griff asks what gives Sonny the right to exact justice? Sonny says he has resources other people don’t, and Griff asks if might makes right. Griff tells him, vengeance is mine, saith the Lord. Sonny says he’d love to leave the vengeance to God, but God talks a good game and does nothing.

Nell tells Morgan that she was showing empathy and it wasn’t an invitation to kiss her. She thinks he’s just trying to deal with the pain of Kiki and hopes everything works out for him. She leaves and the alarm on Morgan’s phone goes off.

Kiki finds the picture of her and Dillon at the Nurses Ball. Dillon says it was an incredible night. She says they got thrown together at the last minute and they killed it. He says he remembers being happy that night, and she says she does too.

Alexis explains that she didn’t let Julian in; he let himself in. Anna tells her to change the locks. Anna says she was a witness to Julian violating the restraining order, and Alexis should report it.

Olivia tells Julian that she and Ned were meeting in secret. Julian says until she just told him, he had no idea they were meeting. He says the harpoon was creative, but not his work, and congrats on getting back together. He says it doesn’t interest him, sorry. Julian starts talking about visitation, but Olivia isn’t keen on it. He says he can see Leo whenever he wants, and if she tries anything to stop him, then she’ll have to worry about hooks.

Sonny asks Griff where God was every time a tragedy happened. He has to do what he’s going to do because it’s the only way he knows, and until God is going to take care of business, he has to do the dirty work.

Olivia asks Ned if he believes Julian, and he says he does. She wonders who would put the harpoon in the door and why. Ned thinks it was Dillon venting about Paul. <sound of the X on Family Feud>

Kiki says that was the first night she and Dillon kissed, and Dillon says it was one of the best nights of his life. Kiki says her too, and they kiss again.

Morgan ignores the alarm and puts the pills back in the container. He orders a double vodka straight.

Anna says it might not be enough to get him arrested, but Alexis should get it on the books. Her best hope is that Julian doesn’t come back. Alexis wonders if Sonny will follow through. Anna says when Julian had Duke shot, he was hiding behind Alexis and Danny, but Danny doesn’t need him anymore. She says she wanted Julian to spend all the years rotting away that he stole from Duke. She tells Alexis that she made it clear to Sonny that if he had Julian killed, he’d be prosecuted. She used everything to make sure Sonny didn’t exact revenge, but not any more.

A guy watches Julian go to the elevator and follows. We’re not sure if it’s a crony, Sonny’s henchman, or a coincidence.

Griff says what Sonny is doing is dirty work, but not God’s work. God has his reasons and Sonny isn’t serving God no matter what he tells himself. Sonny asks if believing in God means believing in His infinite wisdom and Griff says maybe.

Tomorrow, Sam asks if Alexis has been drinking, Kiki still cares about Dillon, and Scotty tells Ava to stay away from…someone.

📢 Important information: The Real Housewives of Atlanta is back on Sunday, November 6, and Vanderpump Rules premieres, Monday, November 7. Gratuitous shots of Giggy!

General Hospital – Friday

Dillon thinks he took advantage of Kiki, but she says no. She says she kissed him back. Dillon says he was looking for sympathy and she’s just being gracious. Kiki says she never got over him. He asks what about Morgan?

Alexis is getting her drink on when the doorbell rings. It’s Sam and Molly. Sam asks if she’s been drinking.

Morgan orders a double vodka straight and tells the bartender to leave the bottle. Ava and Scotty walk in. Scotty tells Ava not to get involved with stray dogs. He wants to get paid. Ava is like, already? and says he just gave her a wad of cash. He says that’s why he’s broke. He mentions her giving the placebo to Morgan, and she reminds him of attorney/client privilege. He tells her now that Morgan is crazy, she should stay away from him. She says he might need her and Scotty tells her it’s her funeral.

Griff asks Sonny how he’ll be able to live with himself, or face Carly and his kids, with blood on his hands. Like that’s never happened before. Griff says Sonny doesn’t want the sins of the Father visited on his sons.

Ava sits next to Morgan and asks if he’s drinking. He orders another and she says he hasn’t finished the first one. He tells her she’s right, downs it, and tells her to go away. She says she’s concerned, and he tells her to leave him alone. She asks if he ever found Kiki. HHe says he found her all right.

Jason comes into The Floating Rib and Carly says she’s glad he stopped by. He asks if she needs help taking out the garbage, referring to Julian. Julian tells her she needs legal advice, but she says she’s just fine, thanks. She tells Jason she evicted Julian.

Griff says that Sonny knows in his heart that Griff is right. Sonny says no son or daughter of his will ever pay for what he’s done because he protects them. Griff says if he felt what he was going was okay, he wouldn’t be there, and asks if he can share one thing. Griff says he did terrible things when he was priest, things he’s had to live with, and says he wishes someone had reached out. He tells Sonny that he doesn’t have to do anything he’ll regret. Sonny tells him God helps those tho help themselves Griff says that’s not Scripture (thank you) and what he’s contemplating is a sin.

Alexis explains to Molly that she and Sam made a deal not to drink together, since Sam is pregnant. Molly points out the glass and Alexis says it was Anna’s. They girls had seen her pulling out and Sam apologizes. Alexis asks why they’re at her house on a Friday night when they should have dates. Molly brought pastries to celebrate Alexis’s new gig as a consultant.

Carly tells Jason that Julian’s lease is coming up and there’s a morals clause, and his presence is detrimental to her hotel. A guest saw him threaten Sonny, so he’s out. If he tries using her for a reference on another place, she’ll make his life so miserable, he’ll leave town. Meanwhile, Julian calls Scotty, who says he needs to see the document. Julian says his life would be easier if Anna was locked up, but his primary concern is Sonny.

Sonny says Griff’s demons are between him and his Maker, but he has to deal with his own life in the best way he knows how. He says let’s talk about Julian. He puts a hit on Duke, kills Carrrlos, and puts a knife to Alexis’s throat, and if Sonny hadn’t shown up, she’d be dead. Griff says that doesn’t excuse him. Sonny says Julian threatened him and would go after an innocent child just as easily. He wonders if he should be a sitting duck like Duke, and when should he stop turning the other cheek and defend himself? Griff says it sounds like he’s having doubts. They’re standing in front of a Sacred Heart statue, and Griff says the Sacred Heart is about love. Their purpose isn’t to do miracles like Jesus, but to love and forgive like Jesus, and offer it to the Father. Sonny says Jesus is divine; he’s human and past the point of redemption. Griff says what he’s planning is wrong and he has a chance to make things right for everyone who loves him.

The bartender cuts Morgan off. Ava tells him that whatever she’s done, she’s done because she loves Kiki. She still cares about Morgan, and seeing him like this scares her. He suggests she take her scared ass somewhere else.

Scotty wants to talk in person and Julian says he’ll come to the bar. He leaves and Jason and Carly make jokes about him. Jason asks her what’s really going on, and she tells him about Morgan getting expelled. She says he’s angry and humiliated, but now he seems out of control. Jason says sometimes it takes a while for meds to balance, but she says he’s her baby boy and she feels like she’s not doing enough for him. Jason says she’s supportive of all her kids and a great mom. She thanks him.

Morgan tells Ava that he saw kiki and dillon having sex and says isn’t that what she wanted? She doesn’t seem happy and leaves. Morgan asks for another drink, but the bartender says he’s done. Morgan puts a pile of money on the bar, but his keys are in it and the bartender takes them.

Sonny makes a call. He cancels the job. He says make sure it doesn’t happen, and tell the contractor to stand down.

Julian goes to The Floating Rib. His lackey stays with the car and has a smoke even though he’s wearing the patch. His phone rings and he steps away from the car.

Kiki tells Dillon that things were awkward at first, but she and Morgan reconnected and she thought things were going to be okay. Overnight he changed. She says she’ll always love him, but the love she feels isn’t strong enough. She feels like the relationship is a crutch for both of them – him leaning on her, and her trying to fix things and losing sight of who she is. She made Morgan think he’s the one for her and maybe he’s not.

Morgan leaves and Julian tells Scotty about the eviction. Ava wants to follow Morgan and Scotty says don’t do it.

TJ sees Morgan outside. Morgan says he has to get out of there and Tj offers to drive. Morgan sees Julian’s car with the keys in it and says it’s an easy ride, but TJ says he’s not going to let him go anywhere.

Alexis tells the girls she’s had no luck finding work. She says she made her choices and she has to live with the consequences. Molly says whoever turned her down is an idiot, but Alexis says she’ll broaden her horizons, write a novel , play piano. Molly takes the pastries to the kitchen, and Sam asks Alexis to level with her. She says she has a solution.

Dillon asks if Kiki is talking about him being the right one. She says yes, but she’s been giving him mixed signals. He says he’s a big boy and can take it. She says she can’t seem to stick to a decision, when all she wants to do is the right thing. He tells her he did what he thought was the right thing, giving her and Morgan their space, but he never got her out of his system. They kiss.

TJ suggests a walk. Morgan says he’s a good guy and thanks him. Then he punches him out and takes the car. Alrighty then.

Griff and Sonny make a soap opera face at each other. Sonny nods and leaves. Griff looks at Jesus.

Ava doesn’t think Morgan should be running around drunk. Julian asks why he should care, and she says he’s dating Julian’s niece. Julian says maybe Kiki will dump him, so she should be happy. She says she wants him out of Kiki’s life, but doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him.

Jason finds TJ, who tells him what happened. He says he’ll handle it.

Morgan drives like a maniac. Who is he going to crash into? Nell? Michael? Kiki and Dillon? Sonny???

Sam wants Alexis to consult with her investigation. Molly comes back, saying social media has devolved to anarchy and mob rule. They’re saying Alexis threw the trial. Alexis says it’s just words. They can take it to heart or it can make them stronger. Molly suggests canceling her date, but Alexis says she’s fine.

Ava says she doesn’t think Morgan is good for Kiki , but she doesn’t want him wandering around drunk. Scotty says she still has a soft spot for her boy toy. She says she’s concerned about Kiki. Julian says she can’t control what anyone ends up doing.

Kiki pulls away from Dillon, wondering what she’s doing. Dillon says it feels right being with her and she agrees.

Carly calls Morgan, but no answer. Jason calls and he picks up. Jason says he’s right behind him. He says Morgan almost hit him peeling out and TJ told him he stole a car. Morgan says he’s an embarrassment to his family and his parents hate him. Jason says they love him and to pull the car over and let him help. Morgan sees Carly calling. She leaves a message apologizing for how they left things. She knows he’s upset, but it’s just a set back, and she knows from experience he’ll rise above it. She says no one wants him to be perfect; they just want him to him. She asks him to call, and says she loves and needs him.

Jason asks Morgan to pull over again Morgan says everything in his life is over and a big pile of crap. He says everything is done. Jason asks him to trust him and pull over. He tells Morgan to pull into the turn ahead.

Molly leaves and Sam asks if Alexis wants her to stay and talk about work, but Alexis says she’s tired, so Sam leaves. Alexis can’t get back to her wine fast enough. She looks pretty good for being a major alcoholic. She says “cheers” to herself.

Griff thanks God for helping Sonny find the goodness within him, and asks Him to help Sonny find peace.

Sonny goes to see Carly. She asks what’s up. She says he seems like something is different; he’s more relaxed. He says he feels like everything is going to be okay for the first time in a long time. This is because he doesn’t know he lives on a soap, or he would know just thinking that is going to cause tragedy.

Kiki says her head is spinning. She can’t move forward with Dillon until she’s honest with Morgan. She doesn’t want to hurt him any further and she has to tell him that Dillon is the one for her. She leaves, and they make soap opera faces at each other as the elevator closes.

Scotty says if Ava wants to waste time, fine, but he wants to get paid. She wants to know if Morgan is okay. Julian is like, hey, what about me> His crony tells him the car is gone.

Morgan and Jason pull over. Morgan says he messed up really bad, but Jason says they can fix it and get out of the car. Morgan gets out and the car blows up.

On Monday, Julian thinks Sonny blew up the car, Nell tells Kiki that Morgan thinks they’re breaking up and Jason rescues Morgan…maybe.

Z Nation

We see a disembowelment. We see a town destroyed. We see spray paint. We see a red hand.

The latest version of Operation Bite Mark comes across several disemboweled zombie guys hanging from a bridge. Hector says it looks like something he would do and someone is trying to send a message. Shots are fired and the zombies fall to the ground, immediately attacking the group. OBM dispatches them all, with Roberta slicing one’s head nicely into several pieces like a ham. Doc says he knew it was a sketchy neighborhood by the graffiti.

They start to walk away, but a trio of armed men on the bridge stops them. One says the zombies were their friends and they shot them down to bury them. They tell OBM that the Red Hand killed everyone, and after they bury their friends, they’re going after them and their leader Escorpion. D’oh! They ask to see OBM’s hands and ask why OBM is there. Roberta says they’re just passing through.

Older guy says the Red Hand came through like a storm and tortured and killed all of them. He says he thought they were an apocalypse legend like The Murphy, but they’re real. They’re crazy vigilantes taking orders from Escorpion. They’ll know Escorpion by his tattoo.

Suddenly, one of the men is shot, and the group is being pelted with Molotov cocktails.

Murphy looks out to a crowd that’s gathering and says he sees seeking squatters in the cheap seats. Murphy checks out the zombie “moat” that surrounds his abode. Kind of like Colonia’s wall in Fear the Walking Dead. He says it’s good, but needs more zombies. A guy comes running up to him saying he needs Murphy’s help. He brings Murphy to a tent where a woman is dying and he asks Murphy to save her. Murphy says he’s too weak because his blood is being taken to facilitate a vaccine. He says he can’t bite everyone, but a cure is coming.

Dr. Merch checks Murphy out. He says he has no pep. She says he needs to up his calorie intake and needs a lot of blood. He says sometimes he feels like he’s slipping away and becoming one of them. The doctor has a booster with a micro-dose of the original vaccine that should make him feel less dead. He asks if she can cure him and she says she’s working on it.

Now that Merch has Murphy’s blood, she can work on a cure. She says he needs the boosters in the meantime so he doesn’t end up like patient zero. 10K tells Murphy the natives outside are getting restless. Merch says she should have something soon, but they’ll need to test it. Murphy says his people need the vaccine now. 10K has some kind of seizure.

Roberta and the others hide inside a building. It’s a novelty company and Hector steps on some squeaky plastic poop. They hear screams and sounds from somewhere. It’s pretty creepy with all the weird toys their flashlights reveal, and they find a trail of blood leading to a woman. She’s still alive. Roberta asks if she’s with the Red Hand. She is, and she says they’re surrounded by a hundred of them, and their hearts will be fed to Escorpion. This is news to Hector.

Doc inadvertently sits on a whoopee cushion. He and Dr. Sun have taken Addie to a table in a different part of the building. Addie has a toothache and Sun says it’s an infection that will kill her. Doc tells Addie they’ll have to pull it. Addie says it’s not going to happen; when you start losing teeth, it’s over.

10K wakes up, asking what happened. Dr. Merch says she gave him a booster shot and she’s been taking them too. It counters Murphy’s bite and stops his control. Merch needs his help. She says they’re immune to Murphy’s control, but not the zombies and the zombies know it. Murphy is turning people into hybrids and she wants to destroy the vaccine and get away from him.

A group of people get into the building looking for Murphy to bite them He says he can’t bite everyone. It would kill him and they’ll all die. The man he encountered earlier asks him to just bite the woman, but she dies and becomes a zombie. Murphy says sorry for his loss but she can become part of the moat guard. He yells to Merch that they need the vaccine now.

The Red Hand goes through the town, setting everything on fire. Roberta asks Hector whats going on, and he says he thinks someone is impersonating him. She says or co-opting his brand. It will only make things worse if they find out who Hector is.

Roberta asks the woman what happened, and she says justice. The guys from the town want to interrogate her. Younger guy tries to hurt her and Hector steps in. Roberta asks why they were targeted and younger guy says they’re crazy. She asks why crazy for them and why did they spray paint “thieves” on the bridge? Roberta draws her gun and says they’re being put in danger and asks what really happened. Older guy says they were starving and it was their food. The woman says they killed innocent people for the food and Escorpion is the protector of the innocent. Older guy says he has to make his way, the same as them; it’s the way it’s always been; it’s nature.

Doc gives Addie some crushed Oxy for her tooth, saying it’s not exactly the party he wanted. They hear sounds. Doc goes to the door and Sun looks outside. They both say, oh sh*t. They grab Addie and run as Molotiv cocktails bombard the room. They get Addie to another room, but Sun thinks she might be going into septic shock.

Hector asks the woman what Escorpion looks like. She says, you and younger guy hears. The woman talks to Hector in Spanish, but zombies are breaking into the room. Hector and Roberta beat the crap out of them, and Hector blocks the door. The woman turns and Roberta has to mercy her.

Doc and Sun hold Addie down and try to pull her tooth, but she’s not having it and fights them. Doc tells her they’re just trying to help and Sun knocks her out long enough to pull the tooth.

Outside, war is being raged by the so-called Red Hand. Older and younger guy want to know what the woman said. They think it’s convenient she’s dead, but Hector says she probably doesn’t think so. They all go to the door. It’s a zombie with a body bomb. Hector says whoever they are, they’ve got style.

Roberta opens the door and tosses a monkey-playing-cymbals out. The zombie bomb follows it and blows up elsewhere, while the monkey plays on. There’s a back-up zombie bomb though. Roberta says get back, but she gets thrown in the blast. Hector stumbles to her. He tells her to wake up. Nooo! Roberta can’t die.

Hector tells Roberta he needs her and to get up. She’s still alive. A zombie grabs Hector and the other two guys jet. Hector struggles with the zombie. Another zombie joins in. Roberta gets up and starts to shoot, but she’s foggy and her aim isn’t too good. A third zombie joins the fray, and she manages to shoot two of them and Hector gets the last one. I think Hector likes Roberta. Uh-oh, older and younger guy see his tattoo.

Older guy draws his gun, but Roberta has also drawn hers.

10K goes through the zombie moat and puts some stuff into a truck bed. He tells Merch to get her stuff and let’s go. She turns around and Murphy is there. He says 10K needs a Murphy booster. He doesn’t have to bite him again, but he wants him to try the new vaccine. He pulls out a something that looks like an ear piercing gun. 10K backs away and jumps out the window. Amazingly, he’s unhurt and runs. Murphy calls everyone to go after him.

10K runs through the woods with Murphy’s guys chasing him. One dressed as a soldier pops out from the side and knocks 10K down. They punch each other for a while and the soldier knocks 10K’s head into a tree. 10K tries to fight some more, but ends up down. He gets the better of the soldier though and jumps over a fence. He continues to run.

Dammit. Murphy’s second in command finds 10K. He says he doesn’t blame 10K, but Murphy cares about him and only wants to help. 10K launches himself off a cement pillar and onto another one.

Hector tells them they have it wrong. He says he has nothing to do with the Red Hand and he’s not that man anymore. For being Escorpion he deserves to die, but not for this and not by them. He grabs the younger guy who ends up falling on his own knife, getting impaled through the throat. I make a noise like oooew out loud. Older guy asks for help, but it’s too late. Younger guy is dead and turns immediately. Hector shoots him. Older guy tries to shoot Hector, but Hector gets him first.

Merch is giving vaccines to a long line of people. With each vaccine, Murphy shakes the person’s hand and says, “Welcome to the future.” Murphy says it’s good to see the doctor recommitted. He says she’s part of the cure and it’s the future. She looks depressed and he asks if it’s about 10K, and if it is, that’s on her. He says it will be a life without fear and desperation. They’ll start over and do it right this time; they’ll do it his way. He says he can feel she’s still fighting it, but she’ll come around.

10K continues to run along a bridge – the same one he walked across with Murphy in the last episode. Zombies are on one side and Murphy’s people are on the other. He looks down into the rapids, the same way he did before. He hoists himself up and over and into the water. He’s gone but maybe not a goner.

Addie apologizes to Sun and thanks her, but adds never to touch her again. Doc looks outside and says he doesn’t see anything moving. He suggests they get out. We see blood all over the novelty items. Roberta and Hector walk out to the street. Hector says he’ll never get away from who he is. Roberta says none of them will; it’s the apocalypse. He says if he stays with her, they’re in danger; everyone close to him dies. Roberta says everyone close to everyone dies, and all they can do is survive another day. She says she doesn’t need a saint or lover, but a killer. He can’t change who he is, but can change what he does. She asks him to use who he is to give them all another chance.

The group merges back together. Doc says it looks like they missed a helluva party. Roberta says she doesn’t believe the Red Hand moved on, and thinks they haven’t seen the last of them. Doc calls to Hector. Hector hesitates, but comes along. We see the word “fear” spray painted above the door they came out of.

Murphy calls to Merch who’s walking away from the building. She walks out into the zombie moat and lets herself be nosed by the zombies. She starts to freak and finally screams. Murphy yells for them to stop, but it’s too late. She’s officially a zombie snack.

Next time, Murphy doesn’t get why they want to stop him, Murphy tries to revive Merch, and 10K might still be alive. Or half-alive. Or whatever he is now.

👓 I also recommend Aftermath, which I’ve been watching on SyFy at 11 pm on Fridays. I have no freaking idea what this show is about – some other kind of apocalypse – but it’s definitely intriguing and has a dragon.

What I Watched Today
(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Once Upon a Time

The Evil Queen leads Zelena to the vault. Zelena doesn’t want to let her in, but that doesn’t matter. She needs supplies for a spell. She asks Zelena if she’s worried she’ll harm her better half, but Zelena says it remains to be seen which half is better. The Evil Queen says she just wants to teach Regina that she can’t escape who she is. Zelena asks what’s in it for her and the queen says a sister who’s more deserving.

Regina goes the Granny’s where the Untold Story people have gathered. She has the storybook with her and says she knows they’re afraid that their stories will play out. She says she’s just like them and they don’t have to be afraid. Whatever comes next, they’ll face it together.

Belle comes into Granny’s, looking for a new place to stay. Emma tells Hook she has an appointment to see Archie, so Hook leaves with Belle to help her out.

Henry asks a guy what his name is, wanting to see if his story is in the book. He says he isn’t important enough to be in there. An envelope with a fancy sealing wax closure arrives.

We flash back to the guy’s story – he’s Edmund, the Count of Monte Cristo. We’re at a ball and Edmund approaches the Baron. The Baron says he couldn’t be Edmund; he’s in prison. Edmund tells the Baron that he escaped, and although it took a decade, he’s now the man he wants to be. He pulls out his sword and stabs the Baron. The ballroom clears out and the Evil Queen applauds. She says it’s hard to find commitment like his. She wonders how long his next revenge quest will take and asks him for the names of everyone who has wronged him. In return, she wants help in getting some revenge of her own.

The envelope is an invitation for David and Snow from the Count. Regina says he wants his revenge and explains that she’d once hired him to kill them.

Archie tells Emma it’s a safe space and she can trust him. She tells him about her vision. She says she almost starts to win her battle against the hooded figure, but her hand starts shaking and she gets killed. He thinks maybe the more she talks about it, the less it will haunt her. She says she’s hesitant to tell her family because they would want to fix things and she’s supposed to be the savior. He says even saviors should get a day off. Emma gets upset when he encourages her to let them know and leaves Archie’s office.

David asks why Regina didn’t tell them about the Count. She says she’s clearly trying to put her evil ways behind her, and the Count didn’t get the memo. Snow says she hired him and she can fire him. Regina says that’s why she’s going to meet him instead of them.

Back in the day, Snow and David come upon a destroyed village. One person is alive – Edmund. He says when the queen attacked, everyone fled, but he stayed behind to put out the fire. Snow’s handmaiden, Charlotte, has nursing skills and gives him a salve for his burns. Edmund sees something in her eyes that he finds mesmerizing. He wants to go on the attack, but Snow says revenge isn’t going to bring anyone happiness and finding happiness is the best revenge. David suggests he work for them as a wine steward because that’s a great alternative to seeking revenge.

Regina meets Edmund. She tells him she’s calling off the murder. She says revenge won’t bring back the person you love, and if she can say that, anyone can. Edmund hurls his sword at her and she stops it in mid-air, but by the time she turns it around, Edmund is gone.

Emma tries to drive Snow and David to someplace safe, but the car hits an invisible wall at the Storybrooke border. She says obviously the Count doesn’t want them leaving.

Hook takes Belle to the Jolly Roger. She says she can’t stay there as it will risk Hook’s life. He says he had a hand in harming her and wants to make up for it. He says he needs to forgive himself and he’s not there yet. She says she’ll stay. She wanted to wait for Rumple to come around, but she has to do what’s best for her son.

Regina says it’s not the Count preventing them from leaving, and the only way for a protection spell to have worked is if someone got into her vault. Zelena shows up and Regina tells her about the spell, and says that Zelena is the only other one who could have opened her vault. Zelena says she doesn’t know who did it, but she’s tired of the inquisition and disappears, poof! in a puff of green smoke. Regina says she thinks the Count isn’t the only one they have to worry about.

The Count watches the Evil Queen dispatch a couple of knights. She asks him for a lesson in swordsmanship, but he says he has to go to Snow and David’s. She has a vial of poison for him to use, but he wants to know what they did to deserve death. She asks if he’s getting a conscience and he says to call it professional curiosity. She says the only thing on his mind should be how badly he wants his revenge. He takes the poison vial with him.

Rumpel appears, telling the Evil Queen that she’s still having someone else do her dirty work. She says that’s because Rumpel put a spell on Snow and David, so she can’t hurt them. She says she put the same protection spell on the count to protect him from Rumpel, telling him that the student has outgrown the teacher. He says they’ll see about that, and disappears, poof! in a cloud of grey smoke.

The Evil Queen shows up in Mr. Gold’s shop. He says he knew it was too good to be true, and she says she knows he’s happy that she’s back. He’s holding a coin and he says if she wants it, she has to leave Belle and his son out of her evil plans. She asks if he’s sure that’s all he wants. She says the Untold Story people aren’t the only ones whose plans haven’t played out. He asks why he would be interested in her and she tells him to look her up when he gets tired of waiting for Belle.

Edmund puts the poison into the wine. David says they need another glass for Charlotte, who has to leave to take care of her mother. Edmund pours the wine and says something about Charlotte’s eyes. They make a toast, but Edmund stops them from drinking. He says an occasion like this calls for something more special and he takes the wine away.

Regina and Henry walk around the Untold Story people’s crash landing. Regina tells Henry she can’t let the first story play out like this. She sees Charlotte’s body and says Edmund poisoned her with the wine meant for Snow and David. The Evil Queen appears and says that the handmaid’s tale played out and Regina’s will too. Regina says she thought she’d killed the Evil Queen. The Evil Queen asks if she thought it would be that easy and that after all they did together, this is what she gets. Regina realizes that the Evil Queen has been controlling the Count. The Evil Queen produces his heart and says Regina should be thanking her.

David and Snow see Edmund on the dock. David says it’s all a misunderstanding. Edmund says they have no idea and launches his sword at them. Snow says Regina has changed and doesn’t want this. David asks why he’s doing this, and Edmund says the Evil Queen has his heart. David says they’ll find a way to stop her; they always do.

In the old days, Rumpel shows up, asking Edmund why he didn’t poison Snow and David. Edmund says because of Charlotte. He says she didn’t deserve to die and if he’d killed her his revenge wouldn’t be so sweet. Rumpel says Snow and David don’t deserve to die either. He puts a spell on the door and says he needs them alive and procreating. Edmund finds Charlotte’s body and asks for the antidote. Rumpel says there’s no cure for this poison, but it can be stopped.

He shows Edmund a key and tell him it’s the key to where all untold stories are finished. If he goes there, Charlotte will live, but if he comes back, she dies.

Edmund tells Snow and David that he wanted a fresh start. Regina appears and sword fights with him. She says he can still have a fresh start and his story doesn’t have to end like this. He says it ended when Charlotte died. She says that she couldn’t save Charlotte but she can save him. She asks Henry to call for help, but the Evil Queen did something to his phone. Edmund approaches Snow and David who are now unconscious. Regina lets her sword fly and it runs through him. She cries over his body, but Henry says she did what she had to do.

Snow and David come to. Regina says she had no choice. The Evil Queen says that’s not true and that heroes always find a third way. Regina says she’ll rip the Evil Queen’s heart out. The Evil Queen says that’s the spirit. Regina realizes that the Evil Queen wanted her to kill Edmund. The Evil Queen says the little bit of darkness she revived is just a start. She says Regina will destroy everyone’s happy endings. She says the people from the Land of Untold Stories aren’t the only ones who don’t want their stories told, and when everything plays out, she’ll sit back and watch them tear themselves apart.

Snow tells Regina it’s not her fault and she didn’t have a choice. Emma says the Evil Queen wants her to doubt herself. Snow says she can’t be beaten by running away. She asks what the Evil Queen meant by them all having stories they don’t want told. Emma’s hand starts to shake.

Henry tells Hook he should have known better because sequels are never as good and then has to explain the concept of a sequel. Henry says the first time, the people wanted their stories told. David sees another envelope. It has the coin in it. He goes outside. The Evil Queen asks how he likes his gift. David asks why she gave it to him. She says we all have untold stories waiting to play out. He says the coin was his father’s good luck piece. Before he got drunk and died in a cart accident. The Evil Queen says she’s not interested in his daddy issues. She asks if he’s sure it was an accident, and disappears, poof ! in a puff of purple smoke.

Zelena hears her baby cry and finds the Evil Queen with him. The Evil Queen gives the baby a silver rattle that once belonged to her. She tells Zelena to consider it a gift for not telling Regina about her. She admires the ability to keep a secret. Zelena says it was a test and she’d thought the Evil Queen was different from Regina. The Evil Queen says she’ll never doubt Zelena again. She says she’s the sister Zelena wants because they’re alike in that they never settle for less, and Regina is literally the lesser of two evils.

Emma goes back to Archie. She says he’s right, but she’s not ready to tell her family yet. They talk about the Evil Queen’s return. Emma says she’s worried about who’s going to kill her. The one person who wasn’t with her family is Regina. Archie asks if she’s worried about Regina or the Evil Queen, but she doesn’t know.

No preview for next week.

Fear the Walking Dead

Ofelia’s car starts to overheat. She stops and gets out. She tries to remove the distributor cap and is attacked by a zombie. She slams the hood onto it’s arm, but another one comes after her. She manages to get a hammer out of the car and whacks it in the head, as well as the one that follows. A fourth zombie attacks, but she’s in the zone now. She takes a knife from his belt and stabs car hood zombie.

Now there’s a whole group of them coming, but they’re not moving fast, so she just takes a jug for water and leaves.

Commercial break. The next Pirates of the Caribbean movie – A Pirate’s Death for Me – looks great! Coming out in 2017.

Nick wakes up with Luci beside him. How does her makeup look so perfect in the grubby apocalypse? He goes outside and meets his recruit. They go to Alejandro’s pharmacy and Nick breaks into the drug cabinet. They load up a bag with medication and head out through the bus.

Travis wakes up with Madison sitting beside him in a chair. She says she’s been thinking. She says he kept his promise to Liza. He protected Chris and in this new world he’s safer with people who understand him. She says she’s going to remind him until he believes it. She says he belongs there and when he’s ready, come downstairs.

Nick and the other guy go to the gang market. He tells the guard they have Oxy, shows him the bag and they’re allowed in.

Alicia brings Travis some food. She opens the curtains. Nice view when there aren’t zombies cluttering it up. She tells Travis she’s sorry; she feels like she pushed Chris away. He says she had every right to be scared and that Chris is sick. He says he’s sorry that he didn’t believe her and protect her better. She tells him it’s okay.

Meanwhile, back at the gang market, Nick and the other guy (does he have a name?) meet with gang leader Marco. He’s planning an attack and says it will be like taking candy from a baby. Nick says if the gang will leave them alone, they’ll be there every week, on time. Marco says he likes Nick, but the game is over. They don’t need him anymore. He points out a guy who knows where all the drugs that are left are. He says they’re joining forces and are taking over. Marco shows him the dead bodies of the family who had been there the last time Nick delivered. He says if the people of Colonia aren’t gone by the time he gets there, they’re dead. Alrighty then.

Madison asks Hector how it went last night, and he says better than expected. A few guys who showed up late seeking medical attention are acting like bigot morons. It’s the group Chris was with, but no Chris. Madison asks if they were in an accident. They tell her that their truck rolled and now their truck is totaled and the driver is dead. There’s an argument as to whether the driver had a license. Madison asks if she heard right that one of them is Derek.

Madison goes to Victor and tells him that the guys who just showed up are the ones that Chris went off with. Victor tells her not to tell Travis. She says they need to find out what happened to Chris. Victor says that Travis left Chris with these men. He says she has an amazing daughter and lives with the hope that Nick will return. He asks if she thinks Travis can live without that hope. She says he’s broken and it would kill him.

Luci accosts Nick and says she can’t believe he made the drop. Nick tells her the gang is coming for them and they have to tell Alejandro. He says he’s sorry he snuck out, but he’d never lie to her. They go to see Alejandro. Nick says they have to leave now. A zombie pops up off an operating table and attacks Nick. Nick tumbles over the railing along with the zombie, and they fall onto a hospital bed with a patient in it. The zombie bites that guy’s nose off, as well as a nurse’s finger. Nick plunges his thumbs into the zombie’s eyeballs all the way to his brain. Good one. But who’s going to clean up that mess?

Alejandro gets bitten in the fray.

Ofelia goes through an opening in a wire fence. There isn’t much except tumbleweeds on the other side.

The Colonians do their chanting and send the bitten people out to the zombie wall. I guess amputation isn’t an option for the nurse? Luci asks Nick what’s wrong and he says they’re running out of time. He’s also eyeballing Alejandro.

Madison brings Andres to fix Derek’s shoulder. She wants to take them to a more private place, a room in the hotel, but the other people get up in arms because they were here first. It reminds me of the hospital where I used to live in Queens. Madison and Andres hustle the guys out.

Travis looks out the window and sees them, with the crowd following. Geez, for people who needed a doctor so desperately a minute ago, this bunch is pretty lively. He bangs on the window, yelling to Madison. Victor tries to stop him, but Travis runs outside. Travis pushes through the crowd and asks Derek where Chris is.

Nick starts to pack and tells Luci they’re leaving. He says faith is’t going to help when the shooting starts. She says Alejandro needs them. Nick says he won’t find any answers. Alejandro comes in and Nick asks if he cleaned it up well. He says Alejandro is frightened. Yesterday he was frightened of people leaving, and now he’s frightened of the bite. Luci asks what’s going on and Nick says he won’t be able to get her to leave unless Alejandro comes clean.

Alejandro says he’s not immune. Luci feels his forehead and says he’s warm. Nick says he’s infected. Luci says she saw him get bit before, and he says that’s what she wanted to believe. He says he told the story to build the place and protect people. Nick says he wanted them to build it to protect him, and he’s not committing suicide for a fraud. Alejandro says he brought Luci there under false pretenses, but the love is real. She’s his daughter. She says he’s dead to her.

Alejandro leaves and Luci tells Nick she’s not going. She says this place matters and it’s her home. Nick says she doesn’t have to die for it. She says they’ve fared better there than they did in the world. She says for most of them, it’s the first time they’ve had a family.

Ofelia trudges through the desert. Someone shoots at her. She hides behind a tree and gets the knife out. A guy with a rifle comes toward her. He makes her hand him the knife. He says welcome to America. I guess he’s the last of the border guards.

Madison takes Derek and Brandon to an office. Derek says he’ll tell them everything but can’t think with his shoulder the way it is. Andres pops it back into place. Travis asks what happened to Chris. Derek says he has to promise something first and Travis pulls on his arm. They want a car so they can get out. Madison says it’s done. He says he and Brandon were running on no sleep doing the driving and Chris volunteered. Derek says Chris must have dozed off the next thing they knew, they were rolling. He tells Travis that Chris was thrown from the car and dead when they found him. Travis is pretty upset and I’m not so sure this is the true story. He asks where Chris is. He says they pulled him out and buried him by the tree. Travis asks if he was thrown or they pulled him out. Brandon says he was thrown and Derek adds they pulled him to the tree. I actually don’t know which one is Derek and which one is Brandon, so I’m making that up as I go along. Why couldn’t one of them have died instead of Baby James?

Travis gets Madison and Andres out of the room, and locks the door. He proceeds to beat the crap out of Derek and Brandon. Madison bangs on the door telling him to stop. Derek says they killed Chris. They had to. We see Chris pulling himself from the car and his legs are all messed up. He starts crawling and Brandon shoots him. I’d say good riddance, but…

Travis kicks the crap out of Derek. Brandon tries to stop him, but he’s no match. Oscar has gotten the keys and tries to come in, but Travis slams the door on his head. Ouch. Brandon hits Travis over the head with a chair, but it only slows him down for a millisecond. He strangles Brandon until blood is coming out of his mouth. Damn. No more pacifism I guess. Travis kicks him in the head. His work is done. He’s lying in the exact same position Chris was in when he died.

Fear the Walking Dead – Part Two – Season Finale

Travis is tired after all that. He sits on the floor staring into space. Andres breaks in through the window. Madison tries to snap Travis out of it. Elena has Travis carted off. Madison follows. Andres says they’ll take him someplace safe. Victor tells Madison not to argue – it’s not helping. She asks Alicia for her knife. She goes into the office. She makes sure the guys are dead and then stabs them one in the eye and the other in the ear. Good. Now I don’t have to figure out who’s who anymore.

Luci tends to Alejandro. She says if the people find out, they’ll lose their faith and they’ll die like animals. She asks if he thought this day would come. He says beyond the walls is death and more death, and he did what he could to keep them together. She tells him he failed. He tells her Nick is right; it’s ending. Luci says only for him. She says he has to lie to them again before he goes.

Victor tells Madison that Travis failed her and put them in jeopardy. Madison says he’s lost too much to end up like this, and Victor it was her decree that he get put out. Alicia says after all this, he found them, but Victor says he can’t stay. Alicia says they can leave with him. They found this place and they’ll find another. Victor asks if she’s really going to leave for the man who abandoned her, and Madison asks him to come. Victor says he wouldn’t die for any of them. Aw, man, I like Victor.

Madison asks Andres how Oscar is. He says unconscious. Madison asks to give them until morning and they’ll never see them again. Elena agrees. Andres wants Travis out now, but Elena says Madison fought for them, and they should let her have Travis. She tells Madison they leave at dawn.

Madison goes to see Travis. She tells Alicia if she notices anything weird, to let her know. She tells Travis the plan. He says they can’t do this, but she says they’re not going to let him die. She says he found them and it was for a reason. He says it’s safe there and she says they’re leaving in the morning.

Nick has packed his ditty bag and is ready to go. He sees Luci and tells her to come with him. She asks where they’re going to go. He says they’ll find someplace safe until it isn’t anymore. He says the gang is going to slaughter them anyway. She says they’ll die no matter what and this is no place for boys, so run. Oh, snap!

Alicia approaches Andres. She wants to help, and asks if Oscar has regained consciousness yet. Nope. Andres says his pupils are dilated and he thinks Oscar’s brain is swelling. He’s going to have to take the pressure off. Hector is there and tells Alicia to get lost. Eeek! Andres cuts into Oscar’s skull and it disturbs me a million times more than the zombie biting the guy’s nose off.

Alejandro speaks to the people. He says the rumors they’ve heard are true. The men with guns are coming to kill them. It’s the evil of men that the earth is purging. They need their faith more than ever and must not fear. Nick looks down at the zombie wall from the top of the bus. Alejandro says anther destiny awaits them; they’ll overcome the evil and protect their home. More powerful than weapons or evil is their faith, and they have each other. Nick bloodies up and goes out. Alejandro says the time to defend what’s theirs is now. Nick sees a helicopter through his binoculars.

Andres slices into Oscars skull and I cringe.

Travis tells Madison whatever part of him she thinks is the same, it’s not. He says he’s not sorry they’re dead, and she says he shouldn’t be; they deserved it. She says she’s no better than Travis either; she’s worse. She says they’ve both killed. She tells him that she locked Cecelia in with her dead to protect Nick. She understands what he did and why. She says he’ll do it again because they have to. She can face it if he’s with her. He says he’s here.

Now Oscar is all messed up and Andres is upset. Hector says it’s not fair that the others are safe in their beds . Andres, who’s medical abilities are questionable at this point, pokes Oscar’s brain with a screwdriver or something.

Andres breaks into Madison’s room. They start to kick the crap out of Travis, and Madison says they’ll leave now. Andres pulls out a gun. He says Travis killed Oscar, but he had to deal with it. Travis tells them not to do this in front of Alicia and Madison. Then he goes berserk. Victor comes in with a gun and tells everyone to get out. He can’t believe what he’s seeing. He tells Madison and Travis to run now. They grab Alicia and go.

They get in a car, and Madison tells Victor to come. Instead, he hands her the gun. He says he’ll be okay and to get going now. They leave. Just in time. Travis drives right through the wrought iron gate. Victor watches. I’ll miss Victor. I hope we see you again.

Alicia looks traumatized and it’s silent in the car. Madison says they’ll be okay. She’s said that at least a dozen times already.

Alejandro looks like he’s going to shoot up. Nick walks in. Alejandro thought he left, but he says he saw something and came back. Yeah, the drugs. Alejandro is pretty shaky, so Nick helps him like the pro he is. He asks if Alejandro if he’s afraid of dying. Alejandro says he can still fight and still help. Nick says be brave, but careful, using the same words that Alejandro told him. If the gang comes and they’re still here, it’s over. He says Alejandro is being brave with other people’s lives, but Alejandro says he cares about his people. Nick says he wanted to be a great man and if he still wants it, give them permission to run. Alejandro asks where they’d run to and Nick says north. He saw a Medivac helicopter landing across the border. Nick says his people will never have to know. Alejandro says there’s a weight that comes with being a leader. Nick says he and Luci are up for the challenge. He says if Alejandro tells them to go, his people will live and he gets to die a beautiful death. He gives Alejandro the drugs. Alejandro slips into dreamland.

Travis stops at a bullet riddled gang supermarket. It’s empty. Madison says there was an office upstairs where Marco was asking about Colonia and Nick. It stinks in there, and it’s from the bodies of the family the gang killed. Madison says it’s the people who knew Nick. She rifles through their pockets for something that might tell them where the people lived. Alicia asks Madison what she’s doing. Well, I don’t think she’s looking for cash.

The Colonians better get moving. Here comes the gang. They break down the pre-wall wall and go into where the zombies are. They shoot a few and get into the bus. Marco thinks it’s too easy and the Colonians must have run. The place looks deserted. Yep, they’re gone. Maybe. It could be a trap.

Alejandro is still there, and spies on them. I’m wondering if he’s going to blow the place to smithereens with these guys in it. Marco says they left and hid like cucarachas. Alejandro goes into the bus, even though he can barely walk. He starts the bus. Marco is like what’s up with that noise? Alejandro drives the bus away from the gate, letting the zombies in. Ironically, he might be the only one alive after this.

Nice crane shot. Zombies and gang guys. The gang shoots at the zombies wasting a million more bullets. The gang leaves Marco there and run to hide like cucarachas.

The people of Colonia hit the streets bloodied up. They’re going north with Nick and Luci leading. Another crane shot. No expense was spared for this finale.

Commercial break. It’s the trailer for the new Gears of War game. Whoa. It’s pretty cool looking. I don’t play video games, but if I did, I’d play this one.

Travis, Madison and Alicia drive to Colonia. They tell Alicia to wait by the gate. She sees Alejandro in the bus and goes to investigate. Travis picks up guns as they walk through the town, but all they see are zombies. Madison says everyone is dead. They back up and leave the way they came. Alicia puts a jacket under Alejandro’s head. She says he’s alive…for now. Madison tells him that she’s looking for her son Nick. She asks if he’s still alive and Alejandro says border. He tells her Nick saw something and then breathes his last. Alicia gives Madison her knife.

Nick and crew walk through a billion cars at the border. Nick takes out his binoculars. He sees smoke in the distance and another helicopter. He says it looks like a refugee camp, maybe a couple of hours away. All of a sudden, they’re attacked by men with guns. Luci is hit. Nick grabs her and they hide behind a booth.

One of the guys finds them. Luci and Nick are separated and Nick gets a kick in the head.

See you next season!

The Real Housewives of New Jersey

Joe #2 thinks he hurt his back skiing. Dolores talks to him and Melissa about what she perceives as Robyn’s erratic behavior and says that they should ask her to leave. Siggy comes in and tells them that Jacqueline says she’s leaving if Robin doesn’t go. Melissa suggests they talk to Teresa to see what she wants to do, and Joe says this is better than the movies.

Dolores relays this information to Jacqueline. Jacqueline says Teresa can be frustrating, but she loves her. She starts getting weepy, saying that people want to latch on to Teresa. In her interview, Siggy says she thinks Jacqueline is making a bigger deal than necessary. She wants to protect Teresa, who hasn’t asked for protection. Jacqueline informs us that she just got her period, which might explain this emotional display over nothing.

Melissa tells Teresa that Jacqueline feels threatened by Robyn. In her interview, Teresa says Jacqueline is playing the victim and didn’t act threatened at the time. We flash back and nope, she didn’t. Teresa says she’s not asking Robyn to leave. Robyn comes to Teresa’s room and says she’s leaving because she wants everyone to have a good time. Teresa is bummed and says she’d rather be off somewhere just hanging out with Melissa. In the car with Melissa and Joe #2 on the way to dinner, Teresa says Jacqueline instigated things, even sitting on Robyn. Yep, she did.

The group meets at a restaurant. Teresa sits as far away from Jacqueline as possible. She asks if they noticed two people are missing. Jacqueline wonders how Teresa feels about that. Teresa says she doesn’t think Jacqueline felt threatened, since she even sat on Robyn. Jacqueline says Robyn said she wanted to rage on her ass, so she was giving it to her because she’s so accommodating.

Teresa asks why Robyn would say that in the first place? Jacqueline says she doesn’t know and she offered to leave. Teresa calls her calculated, which I believe translates to calculating. Teresa says Jacqueline thinks that Robyn has a reputation, but she isn’t aware of any. Jacqueline gets up and puts her coat on. Chris says Teresa and Jacqueline have known each other a long time, and Teresa should trust her since her heart is in the right place. Siggy says no one knows how the situation started. Jacqueline says it doesn’t matter, but if they had both stayed there would have been a fight, creating a problem for Teresa who’s on probation. Teresa says Jacqueline should have just walked away. Teresa suggests maybe Jacqueline wanted a “soldier” and was disappointed. Jacqueline feels that Teresa has hangers-on that are using her and those are the people she calls soldiers. Jacqueline suddenly starts asking Melissa if she didn’t track down the rumor mongers who’d said Melissa was a stripper. And there goes Jacqueline’s finger in Melissa’s face. Melissa tells her to chill. Jacqueline gets louder and Melissa says Jacqueline is secretly pissed that she and Teresa are getting along. Jacqueline says Melissa is full of it. In her interview, Jacqueline says Melissa is acting weird and calls her a soldier. To her face, she calls Melissa a fake, phony bitch. Everyone’s mouths are hanging open. Joe’s eyes bug out and I literally lol. Jacqueline whips out her phone to call I don’t know who for support. In his interview, Chris says Jacqueline is hurt, and he thinks Melissa and Teresa don’t give a flying.

Melissa asks what she did to Jacqueline. Jacqueline gets even louder, saying Melissa wouldn’t answer her question, so she’s not answering either. Teresa asks Siggy if she thinks this is normal behavior. Melissa tells Jacqueline there’s been something wrong with her for a while. Siggy says Jacqueline feels that no one has her back. Teresa says she doesn’t like Jacqueline getting in Melissa’s face because it makes her feel threatened. Jacqueline gets up, yelling like a banshee, calling Teresa a criminal, and flings her whole arm around. She says Teresa is a twisted bitch who hated Melissa. In her interview, she welcomes the real Teresa home and calls her a psychopathic narcissistic sociopath who is trying to rewrite history with lies. All this over basically nothing. Jacqueline leaves the restaurant with Chris in tow, because she’s best at being a rude a-hole and then running away.

When they get outside, I can’t believe that Chris tells Jacqueline she was attacked. Melissa says a good person would be happy for them and Jacqueline is jealous of her and Teresa’s friendship. Siggy tries to fix it by explaining how Jacqueline feels. Teresa says Jacqueline shouldn’t have been sitting on Robyn, but Siggy says that Robyn did start it. Dolores says Jacqueline was crying all day about how she loves Teresa. Joe #2 says they need to knock that stuff off and talks about how nasty Jacqueline was when Teresa came home. In her interview, Teresa says she should have seen it coming and brings up Jacqueline’s past fights, including punching Caroline in the face. Melissa says she thinks Jacqueline really hates Teresa. Siggy says Jacqueline is fragile and Teresa says she’s f-ing fragile.

Back at Teresa’s house, Joe #1 and the girls get take-out. Audriana says she wishes daddy had more days before he leaves. Joe says he’s going to get skinny. Melania suggests his belly is too stretched out to get small again. She says he’s fatter than pregnant people because she’s ever the soul of tact. He gives the girls instructions and says he’s going to be checking on them every day.

In the car, Jacqueline says she’s not crying because she sees them for who they are now. Oh, the drama from this girl.

Dolores says that she bets if they knock on the door, Jacqueline won’t open it. She hopes Chris is up and we see him snoring. Siggy sees the bags packed. She says no one hears where Jacqueline is coming from, and Jacqueline says a lot of nasty stuff about Teresa, claiming she and Melissa don’t deserve her in their lives. I agree, but not for the same reasons.

Melissa says she hasn’t been yelled like that since high school and it was the same level of rancor as if she had been sleeping with someone else’s boyfriend.

Siggy says she can’t make people like each other. She says Jacqueline is upset about Kathy and Rosie. She just wants to know that Teresa and Melissa have her back. In her interview, Dolores says she knew this was coming, but poor Siggy didn’t. OMG – Siggy goes on and on and on about it and how she’d walk home if she could. She says she doesn’t want to jet around Vermont tomorrow, but Dolores suggests she sleep on it.

Teresa calls Joe #1 and tells him how Jacqueline got in Melissa’s face and then called her a criminal. HA-HA-HA! Joe says he had a hard on before she started talking to him about Jacqueline. TMI, but funny.

Dolores tells Siggy that Jacqueline left and Siggy says she’s jealous.

Melissa says she doesn’t feel like she lost a friend, but like she never had one. She thinks Jacqueline just kept her around to keep an eye on her. Teresa says she puts her friends on the spot, which isn’t a true friend.

Melissa and Teresa go to Siggy and Dolores’s room. Siggy says she’s leaving today. She’s overwhelmed. In her interview, she has to bring out a little fan because talking about Vermont giving her a hot flash. Really, this isn’t that big a deal. She says this group of women don’t belong together. Melissa says they came here to give Teresa some fun. Siggy says she’s about peace, not war. Teresa asks Dolores to weigh in and she gets ridiculous, pounding on the counter, saying she’s stressed and needs to be alone. Okay, Greta Garbo. Teresa says she understands and they leave. Siggy says she’s relieved.

Jacqueline is trying to decompress. Chris says it’s good to step away from toxic environments. Kathy drops by and before five seconds go by, Jacqueline and Chris talk about Jacqueline being attacked. Chris says Jacqueline was hurt and they had the wrong person’s back. Jacqueline says she called Teresa a criminal when she meant to say con artist. Like this makes it better.

Melissa and Teresa go on a skycar ride and they both start screaming before it even gets going. Teresa talks about Joe #1 going to prison and how she doesn’t want to deal with it. She just pushes the thoughts and feelings away. They both get teary and Melissa says she’ll get through it. Teresa says the beginning was the hardest and Joe cried every time he visited. Melissa says they’ve been through a lot together. Teresa says she’s thankful for Melissa’s support and she can feel the love. Melissa jokes about how they started off the trip with so many people. She says they’re not going to let other people ruinng them any longer.

Next time, Dolores wants to know if Jacqueline is done, Melissa tells Siggy to watch her back, Kim D gets air time, and Melissa confronts Derek.

September 30, 2016 – Paul’s Murder Spree is at an End, a Postmaster Meets His End & End of the Week Quotes

What I Watched Today
(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Julian tells his crony Pete that while he’s been exonerated, he doesn’t exactly have his life back and needs to gain his family’s trust. This is beyond an understatement and is just more proof of how delusional he is. Sam comes to the door. She tells Julian they have a lot to talk about.

At the gym, Sonny talks to his crony Billy. He wants Julian to have an accident. At least he’s not whining about his family. The most annoying thing about Julian is that he whines all the time. Jason shows up at the gym and says he has a way to fix the Julian problem.

Carly gives Morgan a present.

Dillon comes to the MetroCourt and tells Kiki he’s there to meet Anna. She’s not there yet, so they talk about Morgan going back to school and how great it is. Anna arrives. She asks Dillon if he knows where his father is. She says it’s imperative that she find out where Paul is and to keep it under the radar.

Tracy tells Paul they share a beautiful son. He thanks her for listening and apologizes, but he’s still wrapping his tie around his hands. She says she knows he doesn’t want to do this, and he says of course he doesn’t. She says killing her isn’t going to solve anything. It will only guarantee he’ll die too. I’m intrigued.

Sonny tells Jason he’s got the situation with Julian handled. He says he’s brought in a third party, and when Julian dies, he’ll be as surprised as everyone else. I guess this is the mob’s way of subcontracting.

Morgan opens the box. It’s a jade necklace, to promote wisdom, balance and peace. If that worked, we’d all have one. Morgan says he doesn’t deserve it, but Carly says she’s proud of him. She says he’s making really good choices for himself. He puts the necklace on. They hug. Carly suggests he stay home and have dinner with her since everyone else is MIA. He says he has plans with Kiki, but thanks her again.

Anna asks Dillon to just trust her and he asks if Paul is in danger. She says no; it involves Susan. She says they believe there’s a link between the hospital murders and his sister. Dillon says Tracy was concerned about how Sabrrrina’s death affected Paul. He said she thought there was some connection to Susan, but it didn’t make any sense.

Tracy asks Paul what happens to Susan if he’s dead. She says if the authorities don’t make him pay, Luke will. He thinks Luke is dead, but she tells him Luke is very much alive. He says Luke will have to solve it first. She tells him Dante said there will be DNA evidence and if she disappears, this will be the first place anyone looks. She says he needs her help and she can only help him if she’s alive. Good point. Although that’s assuming she’s dealing with someone to who is logical.

Ava comes by Sonny’s house and Carly asks why she’s there. She has something for Avery. It’s a dress that looks about ten sizes too big. She wants to leave it in Avery’s room, but Carly says she doesn’t want Avery to wake up. Ava says Carly should understand her wanting to look in on Avery, especially since Morgan has been volatile lately.

Sam tells Julian he’s psychotic and that a relationship with Alexis isn’t going to happen again. She says a restraining order is in place and no one wants him in Port Charles. He tried to kill Alexis, and there’s nothing left for him there. He needs to leave.

Jason asks Sonny what if he didn’t need to kill Julian; what if he just disappeared? He tells Sonny that Sam is going to talk to him. Sonny says Julian wants to win, and as long as he lets Julian roam the streets, he’s vulnerable. He says he’s not the only target – there’s also Carly and the kids. He understands Jason is out of the business, but he’d do the same in Sonny’s position. Sonny says he tried doing it through the legal system, but it failed, so he has to go another way.

Morgan is working on his laptop at the MetroCourt. Kiki reminds him that it’s not a coffee shop. He flashes back to what Dillon said about the website catching cheaters. He tells her he’s just checking to see if his paper was graded yet. She has to get back to work and tells him to quit worrying – it’s not going to give him a grade any faster. He makes a call to Spinelli. He says he’s in a jam and is hoping Spinelli can help.

Dillon tells Anna that Tracy wanted to track down Susan. She was somewhere near the Finger Lakes and Tracy went looking for her. That’s the last they talked. Anna asks if she’s still there and Dillon says maybe.

Tracy tells Paul it’s one thing for Dillon to be disillusioned, but another to find out Paul is a serial killer. Paul says don’t call him that. Semantics. Tracy brings up Paul’s reasoning that this would make Susan better. He says those who have hurt her are gone and now she’s safe. Tracy says she doesn’t agree with his methods, but understands his motive, and is willing to cover things up. Her phone rings and Paul says if she wants him to trust her, not to answer it.

Sonny tells Jason that he’s made the decision and has no choice. Jason asks to be heard out. He says Sam hates Julian, but he’s still her father and saved Danny with the bone marrow transplant. He says if this is going to happen, it can’t be traced back to Sonny. He asks who the broker is, so he can check them out.

Julian tells Sam it’s not going to happen. She says his being here is killing her and her mother. She asks him to do the right thing and disappear for the people he says he loves. He talks about his business being there. She says he can’t go back to that, and if he stays in Port Charles he’ll die.

Carly says Morgan’s mental health is none of Ava’s business. Ava says he’s dating one of her daughters, and his illness often manifests itself in bad decisions and violence. Carly says he’s on medication and doing fine. Ava tells Carly she’s glad he’s following doctor’s orders, but then mentions how he attacked Julian. Carly says it doesn’t make him crazy to have a problem with Julian. Ava says a lot of people don’t like Julian, but Morgan is the only one who acted on it. Carly tells her go see Avery. In the hallway, Ava takes a bag of pills out of her purse and looks at them. She tells herself to stay the course.

Morgan tells Spinelli he needs to get his paper off of the website. He says there’s a zero tolerance policy for cheating and he’s over if he gets caught.

Paul tells Tracy to hand him the phone. Instead, she screams into it. Paul says thanks for clearing up any doubts he had, and smashes the phone with his foot. Dillon asks Anna if his mother is okay. She’s fine. That’s why she’s screaming.

Sam says Julian ordered the hit on Duke and tried to kill Alexis, who is also Kristina’s mother. She’s trying to stop the mess that will be created, but Julian thinks she’s worried about him. She says she has nothing but contempt for him, but she’s seen enough bloodshed and doesn’t want his added to it. He asks what she knows and how he can protect himself.

Sonny says he has no one on his payroll like Jason who he can trust, so he has to work with what he’s got. Jason says sorry, but Sonny says it’s okay, he should keep his promise, but guys like himself can’t just walk away. He says however peaceful Jason’s life is, it never hurts to keep practicing. Lots of valid points today.

Ava tells Carly that Avery is an absolute angel. She says she knows Carly loves Avery, but she’s caught between two potentially dangerous men, Julian and Sonny. Carly says Julian threatened Sonny, but Ava says there’s a difference between hot air and bullets, and she doesn’t want Avery caught in any crossfire.

Tracy tells Paul that it was Anna on the phone and she’s going to trace the call. Paul comes after her and she starts screaming. Someone is at the door and asks if everything is all right. Yeah, never mind that screaming. Paul opens the door and it’s another guest wondering if everything is okay. Paul tries to blow him off, but he says he heard a woman screaming. Paul gives the old loud TV excuse, saying he was watching a horror film, and is glad it wasn’t a porno. Paul closes the door. He has a gag in Tracy’s mouth and says that was close.

Morgan tells Kiki that he was asking Spinelli about jailbreaking his phone because he wanted to play a game. Ava comes into the bar and Kiki says she’ll be back. Ava asks if she’d like to have a movie night, but Kiki has plans with Morgan. Ava says she’s surprised, after the way he attacked Julian. She suggests Morgan is out of control.

Sonny comes home and Carly tells him about Ava’s visit, saying Avery was an excuse. She says Ava’s real agenda was to tell her Morgan needs to get himself under control .She says as much as she hates Ava, she might have a point. Sonny says Morgan is on edge, Julian got in his face and deserved what he got. Carly says Ava was also concerned about Avery getting caught in a crossfire. Sonny says don’t worry, but Carly says she knows him and what he’s not saying. She knows Julian threw down and he’s going to answer. She asks him not to make a move against Julian.

Julian says Sam must have overheard something and asks if Sonny recruited Jason. Sam says she doesn’t know anything except that Julian went back to the business he promised not to. She says you either win or die, and if he comes at Sonny, he’ll die. She suggests he leave immediately. No one will look for him. They just want to forget he existed. Ouch. Although Julian will translate that into, I’ll love you forever, papa.

Paul says this is worse than Sabrrrina. Tracy is Dillon’s mother and Dillon loves her. He hesitates. He says he can’t do it this way and takes out a syringe. He says it’s the least he can do for everything he’s put her through. Anna busts in and tells him to drop it. Man, she got to the Finger Lakes fast.

Anna tells him to step away. He tells her to put the gun down. She asks if it’s all about Susan. He says no matter how well trained she is, she won’t be able to shoot him before he puts the needle in Tracy’s neck. I’ll bet she can.

Kiki tells Ava that Morgan’s number one priority is staying well. Ava says he’ll take a turn, and it won’t be for the better. Kiki asks how she would know that.

Spinelli can’t get the paper down off the website and Morgan asks if he can find out if they’ve seen it yet. He gets another call. He he tells them that he can be at the office in the morning.

Sam goes to the gym. She asks Jason how his talk with Sonny went. Not well. Sam says ditto for Julian, who wants his family back and doesn’t want to go anywhere. Jason says it’s on him now. Sam is worried that Julian won’t be the only one who gets hurt.

Crony Pete asks how it went, and Julian says it wasn’t good, but it reminded him to be more careful. Sonny is preparing to take him out and they have to make sure nothing happens.

Carly tells Sonny that she doesn’t trust the situation. It puts them at risk and there are other options. He can stop Julian’s shipments or take out his credibility, but taking him out will only cause pain. Sonny gives his word that if Julian comes to an unfortunate end, it won’t be on his hands.

Paul is talking so much, just shoot him. Dillon comes running in. He says if Paul kills his mother, he’ll have to kill him too. Paul’s head is going to explode.

On Monday, Morgan runs away before, Lucy asks if GH is for sale, and Scotty knows who the killer is (well, so do we – where has he been?).

Z Nation

Murphy finds the only traffic jam in the apocalypse. He’s stuck behind a couple with a little girl who is dying. The father is about to give her mercy, when Murphy opens the car door. He says he thinks he can help. When we next see her, the little girl is alive with a bite mark on her cheek.

Escorpion/Hector thinks they should take a break from looking for Murphy and look for some gas. Dr. Sun is getting a GPS signal that Murphy is close by, but they don’t see his car. Addie dispatches a zombie, and the transmitter is in his chest. Foiled by Murphy again. Operation Bite Mark (now minus 10K) looks for supplies.

It’s puppies and kittens when the gang sees a mail truck surrounded by pawing zombies. There’s a guy inside. Roberta goes forward with her machete, and the guy tells her not to mercy them. He rolls down the window and throws a piece of meat out. The zombies follow it. He gets out of the truck and tells OBM that he’s from the US Postal Service, and to follow him if they want to live. Neither snow, nor rain, nor zombie hordes, quips Doc.

The postman asks what they want. Roberta says they’re not bandits and they just need supplies. The postman says he’ll help them if they don’t kill any zombies. He adds that they’re so slow, anyone who gets killed by them is an idiot. He leads them into the safest building in town, a post office that’s also a civil defense shelter.

Citizen Z is doing exercises and Kia calls him on cheating. She tells him they need to get him back in shape so he can get back on the air. He says he’s super grateful, but there are no more transmitters. He doesn’t even know if there’s anyone to listen. Kia says she and Nana would listen and makes him jog.

The Murphymobile stops. He wants to take in the view. Spokane, Home of the 1974 World’s Fair. He says it’s perfect. 10K doesn’t look too happy.

Addie asks the postman if he’s alone and he says he has his friends and neighbors. He doesn’t have the heart to mercy them and doesn’t want to be by himself. He says he was postmaster for 17 years, knew all of them and everything about them. He has a Christmas tree up and says he opens a few cards every year. He offers OBM some fruitcake. At one point, he calls the zombies “walkers,” and I wonder if it’s a nod to Walking Dead, since no one has ever called them that on this show.

He asks what they need. Roberta says gas, food and water, and they’ll be on their way. Addie asks if there’s a radio anywhere and he says yes. He asks for help with pushing his truck in return and makes them agree to no mercy of any kind.

10K tells Murphy he’s insane. Murphy says just the opposite, giving the definition of insanity as doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different outcome. He says he’s been with OBM long enough and it’s time for something completely different. He tells 10K he’ll see the wisdom of his actions and thank him later. As they walk past some zombies, Murphy says they won’t hurt 10K now because 10K is with him. 10K says he’ll never be with Murphy. Murphy thinks 10K will change his mind.

They walk across a bridge and 10K thinks about throwing himself off and into the rapids. He leans forward, but Murphy puts a hand on his shoulder. He tells 10K it will be okay.

The postmaster leads OBM to the motor pool and the radio. Hector tells postmaster that one day the zombies are going to eat his brains.

Addie, Doc and Dr. Sun go to where the radio is. A zombie pops out and Dr. Sun dispatches it, saying they have work to do. Dr. Sun has a way to power the radio, but for only a short amount of time. She wants to contact her superiors, but Addie wants to contact Citizen Z. Addie threatens Dr. Sun, but Doc says the world doesn’t need another zombie.

Kia fiddles with the radio. Citizen Z says it’s been months since he’s had contact with anyone. He says there’s no one out there and Kia starts to cry. She says since he came she’s had hope, and without it, she doesn’t know what happens. He says just because Citizen Z is dead doesn’t mean hope is dead. They’re still alive. They hear something on the radio. Citizen Z tunes in some music and they dance.

Dr. Sun hears the same music. She says it’s a signal when all other means of communication have failed. It means the mission is over and everyone is dead. Addie asks to try the radio. She calls Citizen Z. He and Kia hear her. Citizen Z says Addie is still alive.

Citizen Z answers and asks if OBM copies. Addie can’t hear him and keeps asking if he copies. The transmitter dies. Hector and Roberta have managed to get the truck going. The postmaster picks the others up. Doc tells Roberta that Dr. Sun’s people are dead and Addie says there’s no word on Citizen Z.

Citizen Z talks about what it was like at Camp Northern Lights. He says he’s not proud of everything he did, but he tried. He gave his all and has no more to give. Kia’s uncle comes in for dinner. He’s been working on getting a seaplane going. Citizen Z is the only one with a plate of food. Kia says they’ve learned to live on less and he needs his strength. He divvies up the food and it’s gone in a blink. He asks how much food they have left. Kia shows him the cupboard and he says it’s enough for a couple of months at best, but he knows where they can get more.

The postmaster wants to untangle the town librarian from her car. They stop. OBM stays with the truck, but zombies are coming from everywhere. The zombies focus on the postmaster, but ignore the others. Dr. Sun says there’s something about him they’re after and it’s not the chum he throws to them. Roberta thinks they should take a closer look at him.

Murphy gets excited over the Museum of Progress, thinking there will be cool stuff they can use. Looters have gotten there first and the place is stripped clean. Murphy likes the space though. They walk around. Murphy picks out a lab for Merch and a nursery for Lucy. He chooses a room with a view of a waterfall for his inner sanctum and makes plans for the future. He says he can see his whole world from here. He also picks out a throne room.

They hear noises. The two soldiers go to investigate. There’s a scuffle and a soldier and (we assume) a zombie fight. One soldier ends up shooting the other one, and the zombie turns out to be a human. Murphy tells 10K to shoot him, but 10K says no. Against his will, he fires the gun, but there are no bullets. Murphy goofs around with the gun and the guy gets shot anyway.

Hector disarms the postmaster. Dr. Sun asks why the zombies are attracted to him. He says they were his friends. OBM isn’t buying it. They look for bites or signs of infection. Dr Sun asks him a bunch of questions. She wants to take his blood to see if it will give them an explanation. She can’t find anything. The postmaster wants them out and says he’ll give them supplies. Roberta says okay, but he can’t have his gun back.

He leads them to the supplies in the shelter. Way, way, way in the basement. He has Roberta hold the light. We see a dead mail carrier and then another one. They’ve been shot before they turned. The postmaster opens the door and a bunch of zombies pop out. He locks OBM in. Hector kicks zombie ass in the dark. Addie puts a hole through a zombie’s head. Doc shoots another one. Roberta tells them to meet the real postmaster, showing them another body. She says the people didn’t all die; they were executed. Always the jokester, Doc says somebody went postal.

Dr. Sun continues to check out the blood. The postmaster walks in, and she tells him the zombies aren’t following him because of anything in his blood. He says he tried to tell her that, now he’ll have to show her.

The postmaster brings Dr. Sun downstairs to some kind of workroom. It has body parts everywhere. He calls it an abattoir or slaughterhouse. She says he’s crazy, but he says they’re the ones looking for a blue guy. He says they’re strangers that he’s feeding to his friends and neighbors. Dr. Sun says it’s more like the zombies are trophies. He says he knew she was the smartest and he wanted her for her big brain. She says she’ll help him with his work, but he’s not having it. He says he hated these people. He delivered postcards from vacations he’ll never go on, birthday cards that were never for him, and love letters no one would want to write to him. He says he was just the mailman, who delivered checks late and stepped in dog sh*t. He says on the first day of the apocalypse, he shot all of them, starting with his boss. He shot them in the heart so he could watch them turn. Now they know who he is because he was the last thing they saw before they turned, but they still have to be fed.

Dr. Sun distracts the postmaster by throwing a jar of something at him. She picks up a butter knife and tells him to stay away. He tells her the door is locked, but she’s pretty fast and unlocks it with the knife before he can shoot. She lets all the zombies in and they descend on the postmaster.

Dr Sun finds OBM. Doc says the postmaster’s mail is certifiable. Dr. Sun tells them he’ll be spending quality time with his friends and neighbors.

Citizen Z, Kia and family load up sleds, along with Pup.

Roberta says the postmaster was the last thing they saw before they died, and maybe deep in their souls, they hated him. Dr. Sun says zombies have no souls, but Roberta says if that’s the case, why are they given mercy? Doc says the mailman licked the wrong stamp, and off they go. The postmaster is now a zombie, with only a stump for one arm.

Murphy surveys his kingdom and says something about this feels so right. Merch tells him someone is there to see him, the family of the little girl. He tells Merch to send them away, but they come in and thank him for giving them back their daughter. The father says she’s not just cured, she’s not afraid anymore. The little girl goes to Murphy and hugs him.

The father asks him to bite his wife. Murphy smiles.

Next time, Murphy says a cure is coming, OBM continues on Murphy’s trail, and Murphy intends to save humanity with zombie blends.

February 28, 2016 — The Dead & Nothing But the Dead

Standard

What I Watched Today
(rambling, random thoughts & recaps from today’s real time TV watching)

The only show with enough guts to air a new episode opposite The Who-Cares-What-Number-It-Is Academy Awards. AMC’s Walking Dead, we salute you!

The Walking Dead

Abe is telling camel stories to Sasha, while they check out the perimeter of Alexandria. They talk about Maggie having a baby. I’m thinking maybe Abe wants to have one with Sasha. When he says he’ll see her tomorrow, she says she’s taking a new shift. She says Eugene wants to help more, so he’s going to be walking with Abe. He changes it to see you around.

Abe is in bed with Rosita. I’m confused. Was he dreaming or was that a memory? Rosita tosses him a necklace that she made for him. He tells her she’s damn near perfection. Why not total perfection? Something in the necklace makes him think of giving the victory sign to Sasha.

Maggie and Glenn are doing something with the garden. Someone is sneaking around and they follow.

Paul is in Rick’s house and Carl draws a gun on him. Paul (introducing himself as Jesus, so I guess we’ll go with that now) says he’s waiting for Carl And Michonne. Two seconds later, everyone is there for a meeting. Jesus gives them a scorecard of Alexandria and what they’ve got going on as far as supplies and other assets. He says they got off to a bad start, but they’re on the same side. He says he’s from a place like Alexandria and he scouts for others. He admits he misjudged them, thinking they weren’t good people and he wants to make amends now. He talks about the settlement where he’s from, Hilltop, and says they’ve started breeding livestock.

Maggie asks if they’ve thrown in with other groups, and Jesus says their world is about to get a whole lot bigger. Cool! I’m excited to see new people.

Rick and the gang are going with Jesus to Hilltop. Denise gives Daryl an oatcake for the road. Carl wonders what’s up with Rick and Michonne. Rick says he was going to tell him, but it just happened. Carl says it’s cool. Carl is staying behind this time and says he’ll keep an eye on Baby Judith.

Abe asks Glenn something about Bisquick and pancakes. What he’s really asking about is Maggie’s pregnancy. Abe tells Glenn that if he sees rain coming, he wears galoshes. Can’t this guy speak English? Dr. Phil would probably understand him.

Rick sees a crashed RV. It’s some of Jesus’s group. There’s blood everywhere and the crash victims have turned into zombies. At first, Rick thinks Jesus set them up, but Jesus says they don’t have many fighters in their group and whoever else was in the RV is in trouble. Rick says he’ll look for them, but Jesus is staying behind with Maggie, who has orders to shoot him if he gets weird.

Rick and company go into a totally dark building where you can hear zombies lurking about. They tell the live people to hang tight. Abe nearly kills one of them because it’s really hard to tells who’s who in the dark.

Back in the RV, one of the rescued guys introduces himself as Harlan. It turns out he’s an obstetrician, which is good news for Maggie and Glenn. Jesus’s friend Freddy, the guy Abe almost killed, is still freaked out. His wife had been killed and she came back as a zombie.

Uh-oh, the RV is stuck in the mud. Jesus is like, it’s okay, we’re close enough. They get out and see the compound on the hilltop. Apparently, they’re not too original with names.

Jesus tells the lookout to open the gates. The lookout says to drop the weapons, but Jesus tells him the group saved them and he trusts them. He asks Rick to trust his group in return. Lookout guy opens the gates.

Harlan says see you on the flipside and takes Freddy for a look-see. Ha-ha! Jesus says a lot of people came from a FEMA camp. I’ll bet that was scarier than the zombie apocalypse. At the center of the settlement is a Colonial mansion. Jesus says it was a historical site that kids visited on field trips back in the day. It’s some house.

Ha-ha! again. When they go inside, a guy comes out and says “Jesus, you’re back,” a sentence you could take more then one way. His name is Gregory and he says he’s the boss. He suggests Rick and friends tidy up and they’ll meet after.

Abe asks Daryl how long Rick and Michonne have been together (5 minutes?) and if he’s thought of settling down.

Rick sends Maggie to Gregory’s office to negotiate. Gregory says he had visited the place when it was a museum and little did he know one day it would be his. Well, sort of. He thanks her for saving the doctor. She asks how they’ve survived at Hilltop. He says they’re good at it and they don’t sweat the details. They talk about gardens and Maggie brings up a trade. Gregory says he’s happy to help, but he can’t give things away for free. He says they can work there for their share.

Um…I think he’s making a pass at her. Yes he is. Maggie tells him to knock it off. She says hilltop is low on medication and their communities can help each other.

Jesus tells Rick and Daryl that Gregory is going to want the best deal possible. Rick says they need food and they didn’t come all this way not to get it. Jesus says he’ll talk to Gregory. He says right now Hilltop is going well, but tomorrow it could be Alexandria. He asks for a few days.

Some guy comes in and says “they’re back.” A negotiation with Negan has gone wrong with people getting killed and being held hostage. A hostage’s brother (who is wearing a man bun — no, just no) has been returned along with a message from Negan in the form of said brother stabbing Gregory in the stomach. Everything goes nuts, Abe is being strangled, Daryl breaks the guy’s arm, man bun holds a knife to Rick’s throat. Rick turns the tables on him though, slicing man bun’s jugular vein.

Some woman knocks Rick in the head and Michonee knocks her down. Jesus says Negan was their friend, but now he’s nothing except a coward attacking them. Gregory is still just lying there bleeding. Geez. Jesus tells Rick things aren’t as simple as they seem and to give him some time.

The doctor is able to patch Gregory up. Negan is head of a group called The Saviors. They made demands and threats to Hilltop, and beat one of the children to death in front of everyone because Negan wanted them to understand where he was coming from. Gregory isn’t the best at confrontation and agreed to give Negan half of everything in exchange for Hilltop not being slaughtered. Daryl asks how many people Negan has. Jesus says they don’t know, but they’ve seen groups with as many as twenty. Daryl says they can take him out, but he wants an exchange. Jesus says he’ll take it to Gregory.

Rick says Gregory’s people have food, they don’t, and they need to trade their services in exchange. Jesus says Gregory wants to talk to Maggie.

Maggie goes to Gregory’s room where he’s recuperating. She says he’s lucky they were there. She asks if Jesus told him about the deal and says in exchange for supplies, they’ll get rid of Negan and The Saviors. Will work for food. Gregory says Jesus will make the arrangements. He also says it’s fun and exciting because he doesn’t get out much. Maggie says if they continue with Negan, pretty soon they won’t have anything. She wants half of what he has right now or the deal is off.

Gregory tells her she has a deal. He asks if she wants anything else and she says yes. She wants some of the Hilltop people to go with them.

Rick loads the RV with supplies. He asks one of the Hilltoppers (Hilltopites?) to come with them because he needs someone who knows Negan’s layout. Jesus is coming along too, just for the hell of it.

Maggie gets an ultrasound.

The RV leaves the compound. Glenn passes around the sonogram photo.

Next week, Rick decides on a strategy to come for The Saviors before The Saviors come for them.

What I Watched Today

(random, rambling thoughts on today’s TV)

General Hospital

Nathan meets Maxie at the MetroCourt/Floating Rib/whatever it is.  He asks her what’s going on and she flashes back to seeing Johnny.

Johnny startles Lulu In the park, grabbing her from behind while wearing a ski mask. He’s such a laugh riot!

Dante is beating the crap out of a punching bag at the gym.

Carrrlos calls Sabrrrina back.

Jordan meets with Anna and Paul. Jordan says he needs to come up to speed and passes the ball to Anna.

Valerie is applying for a job at the MetroCourt and Olivia comes by to discourage that. Valerie asks what it will take to make things right and Olivia tells her a time machine and suggests she go back to PA. Now tell us how you really feel.

Michael tells Dante that he should aim higher if he’s thinking of Dillon. Dante says that he doesn’t like Dillon, but he’s the one who ruined his own marriage. Because he gives up easy, when Michael suggests counseling, he brushes it off. He also insists Lulu slept with someone else on New Year’s Eve, even though he has absolutely no real evidence of this. Please, Lulu, run off with Johnny while you can.

Lulu tells Johnny he shouldn’t be goofing around like that because someone could see. She says he shouldn’t take chances because both Dillon and Maxie know he’s around. She says Maxie can’t keep a secret for long and Johnny says he knows Maxie almost as well as he knows Lulu and she won’t tell. If he knows her that well, he should know she always ends up telling.

Nathan tells Maxie he’s been keeping up with her fashion stuff online, which shows once again what a great guy he is. Nina comes by and gives him a copy of the green Crimson issue. Nina says it’s their fashion revolution and I think of Little Edie Beale. Nina says she bought all the local copies and is giving them out for free.

Anna says she’s never been convinced that Carrrlos shot Sonny, so she investigated on her own. Jordan says as far as the PCPD is concerned it’s a closed case, along with Carrrlos’s death.

Not so dead Carrrlos tells Sabrrrina he missed her and she pretends to be talking to her dad while Felix is there. When Felix leaves, she tells Carrrlos she thinks Anna is on to him and not to come back to Port Charles. He tells her he never left, and doesn’t want to leave without her.

Maxie says they can’t get an accurate read on the sales if only one person buys the magazine. Nina says there are plenty of places where it’s still for sale and that when the bloggers and cool kids find out about it, it’s going to take off. Nina tells Maxie she needs to have faith in her ideas. Nina runs off and Maxie says she needs to tell Nathan something, but he has to jet.

Lulu tells Johnny the last time Maxie covered for him, she almost lost the best relationship she had. Lulu says she’s bound to tell Nathan. Johnny says his Valerie plan is almost done and pretty soon Valerie won’t be able to show her face anywhere in Port Charles.

Valerie asks if the answer to everything is her moving out of town. Yes. Olivia says this is Lulu and Dante’s home and they’ll find their way back to each other, and Valerie should get out and stay out. Valerie says Olivia is taking out her own failings with Dante out on her. She says too bad, so sad, she’s not going anywhere and she’d rather shovel snow than work for such a hypocrite. I still can’t figure out how Port Charles has snow when nowhere else in the area does IRL.

Dante says that when the newness of a relationship wears off, that’s when you have to work on it. He says he and Lulu didn’t mean to hurt each other, but they did and are paying the price now along with Rocco. God forbid he should take his own advice. What a jerk. Michael says he has to go.

Sabrrrina asks why Carrrlos is still in Port Charles. He says he couldn’t leave her and the baby, and he’s made arrangements for both of them to leave. She says she’s broken up with Michael, but she still can’t go. She asks why he didn’t go when he said he was going to and he says because he loves her now more than ever. He says if she won’t go with him, he’s turning himself in to Anna and she’s going to kill him like she tried before. Sabrrrina is like, what? because she didn’t know about that, but he doesn’t really explain. He says know that he loves her forever and to tell their child he’s sorry he couldn’t be a father.

Anna says she’s willing to drop the whole thing. Paul says it’s a minor discretion in the grand scheme of things. He says she’s a valuable asset and he’s sure they can work things out, but he has to go. When he’s gone, Jordan asks why Anna lied to him. Anna tells her the mole is Paul.

Lulu tells Johnny time isn’t on his side. Now I have an earworm of Time Is on My Side by The Rolling Stones. He tells her to relax because he’s wrapping it up tonight. He says Valerie will be there soon, so Lulu needs to scoot.

Valerie tells Dante she appreciated his offer of help, but she thinks it’s better for them to keep their distance. She leaves for a run and Nathan gives Dante the eye.

Carrrlos meets Paul at the docks. Paul says he thinks someone is on to them.

Jordan asks what motive Paul would have to help Carrrlos. Anna says she’s not sure, but they need to bring Carrrlos in for interrogation. Anna says they need to focus on Sabrrrina and she wants 24-hours for surveillance and phone tapping.

Michael goes to Sabrrrina’s apartment. Felix answers the door and says he’ll let him in if Michael hears him out. Felix says he thought Sabrrrina would never smile again after losing Gabriel, and Michael had brought joy back into her life. He says obviously Sabrrrina lied, but Michael should have cut her some slack. Michael says he wants to get back together with her, but Felix says it’s too late since she’s gone.

Paul says Carrrlos needs to stay dead to the rest of the world, that it’s the only way to keep him and those he loves safe. He says Carrrlos needs to get on the boat now. Carrrlos says it’s smooth sailing ahead for both of them and that he’s no danger to Paul and neither is anyone he cares about.

When Paul leaves, Sabrrrina shows up at the docks. Sabrrrina says no one knows where she is. Carrrlos says their boat leaves soon and wonders why she doesn’t have a bag. Sabrrrina asks why he was talking to Paul.

Michael leaves a message for Sabrrrina to call him and insists Felix tell him where she is. Felix says that’s not his job and if Sabrrrina doesn’t want to hear from him, he’ll have to live with that.

Jordan tells Anna no way are they tailing Sabrrrina.

Dante tells Nathan that what was between him and Valerie is over and they’re not even friends anymore. And adds that should make everyone happy because he’s such a whiner.

Nina shows Olivia the magazine. Olivia says that her cousin started the magazine and it’s practically a fashion institution. Nina says they need to save the magazine and that they can’t keep doing everything the same old way. Olivia starts to say something critical, but then says who is she to judge.

Johnny pretends to be talking on the phone with someone in the park when Valerie comes by.

Maxie is trying to give out copies of the magazines, but she’s distracted by the secret she’s keeping from Nathan. When Nina asks why she still has magazines left, Maxie kinda sorta tells her about it without telling her. Nina talks about how she has her own background of lies, but they eventually led her to Franco.

Nathan asks if Dante will be able to work with Valerie when she graduates. I don’t get why this is even an issue. Why would Jordan ever schedule them even near each other? Nathan says maybe Dante and Lulu can patch things up and that he should at least try. As if on cue, Lulu comes in.

Valerie asks Johnny what’s up. He says he’s not seeing eye to eye with a tow company. He says he’s got a dead car and they’re telling him it’s an hour wait and he needs to be somewhere. Valerie says she’ll drive him.

Jordan says as soon as she sends a request to the judge, it will tip Paul off. She suggests they work on their own.

Michael says he can’t let Sabrrrina go without telling her he wants to make a family with her. Felix says he doesn’t know where she is. Michael is about to hunt her down, but Felix has an envelope for him. He says Sabrrrina told him to give it to Michael if he came by.

Carrrlos tells Sabrrrina he made a deal with Paul about turning state’s evidence. Sabrrrina asks why he didn’t tell her. He says he was only buying time and that he’d be dead if he testified against Julian. He asks her to please disappear with him. He says Port Charles holds too much pain for the both of them and they should start a new life somewhere else as a family. If she doesn’t want to, I totally volunteer.

Olivia looks through the magazine and tells Nina it’s not bad. Nina gets a call from the circulation manager. She asks if Crimson is a success and from the look on her face, it is. Ha! I knew it.

Lulu tells Dante it’s not a good night for him to pick up Rocco because he has a bug. Dante acts like she must be lying and that she, Dillon and Rocco are cozying up together.  Dante acts like such a freaking idiot, Lulu can’t get out of there fast enough. While Nathan starts to talk to Dante, Maxie comes running in and drags him into the interrogation room. She says she has to tell him something. Nathan says that what he’s been working on has something to do with her. He says Johnny might try to contact her. Funny you should say that, replies Maxie.

Johnny says he doesn’t want to be a bother. Valerie says she owes him one for fixing her car.

Anna knocks on Sabrrrina’s door and there’s no answer. She and Jordan bust in with their guns drawn. The place is empty.

Michael takes the letter to the park to read it. The letter says that the time they spent together was the happiest of her life and he didn’t deserve her lying to him.

Carrrlos tells Sabrrrina the choice is hers and asks if she’s coming. She says yes, and goes with him. All right!

The letter continues about how grateful Sabrrrina is, and that Michael will find someone he deserves. She says she’ll always love him, but she’ll do it from a distance. She says that Port Charles is his home, but not hers, and says good-by.

Tomorrow, Maxie tells on Johnny, and Alexis and Julian make faces at something they’ve discovered.

American Horror Story: Hotel – Random Thoughts

This was a nice finale. It hasn’t been my favorite season – that was Freak Show – nor has it been my least favorite – that was Coven because I thought it was too busy – but Hotel was well crafted and the acting was fabulous. I thought the story was a little repetitive at times, and that if I wanted to watch True Blood, I’d watch True Blood, but it had glorious moments. I loved the serial killers’ dinner, used again in the finale.

Denis O’Hare was wonderful and Lady Gaga was a joy to watch. There was recently some Twitter brouhaha about her getting a Golden Globe and that she lacked acting talent. I didn’t understand that at all. Did we see the same show? I also recently saw her in Machete Kills and she was totally on point. It bothers me that the anonymity of the internet allows people to say appalling things about someone that they would never say to their face. And a total stranger no less. But I digress.

What makes this show great is that whether it’s the best season or the worst, it’s always reborn in the next. So while we bid adieu to the Hotel Cortez, we look forward to whatever wild ride the horror story takes us on next.

What I Watched Today

(random, rambling thoughts on today’s TV)

General Hospital — Thursday

Alexis asks Molly to try and be nice to Julian when they’re at the Nutcracker Gala. Molly tries to get out of going by saying she needs to look after Sam. Alexis says Sam can look after herself just fine.  Mystery occasional daughter Christina arrives.

There’s something wrong with the mic system at the gala. Tracy is worried that no one will hear Paul’s speech. Little hearts pop out of her eyes like in the Pepe LePew cartoons.

Franco sees Elizabeth at the hospital and he ducks. Then he asks if she’d go to the gala with him.

Robin tells nice dude Henrico that he’s the first guard who’s ever been nice to her and maybe she can return the favor. Wet blanket Jerry Jax comes in the room.

Anna tells Patrick that they might be on a wild goose chase. He says he doesn’t think so because of the necklace. She says maybe the Cassadines planted it on purpose just to throw them off.

Tracy asks Nina if she’s seen Dillon. Nina says no, but he’s supposed to be working the gala for Crimson.

Dillon sees Maxie outside. They start reminiscing about Georgie.

Elizabeth says she’s not going to the gala with or without Franco. He says he’s not asking her out on a date. He needs to be there for work. He asks if she’s afraid she’ll run into Jason and she says he’d hardly be at a function like that.

Carly checks Jason into the hotel and says let’s get a drink.

Robert says that the WSB has been monitoring the Cassadines. Patrick asks what they know and who has Robin. Anna asks if it’s Jerry Jax.

Henrico tells Jerry he was just about to kill her and Jerry says hurry up then. Jerry also says both Patrick and Anna aren’t far away. Jerry tells Henrico to execute the plan and Robin and don’t make a mess. Robin tries to get Jerry to change his mind to no avail.

Henrico says there’s nothing he can do, so don’t ask. Robin says he’s wrong. There is one last thing.

Christina asks Sam prying questions about her love life. Christina says exams ended early and Alexis says good, she can go to the gala too. Sam gets her jacket on and says she has a quick errand to run, but hopes everyone has a good time.

Christina asks Molly about their mother’s password. She says she doesn’t want to, but she has to hack into Alexis’s account.

Maxie and Dillon think about Georgie as they look up at the stars. Dillon gives Maxie and envelope. We don’t see it, but I assume a picture of Georgie is inside.

Franco tells Elizabeth that he knows she’s feeling all alone in the world right now and does she have a dress?

Carly asks if Jason wants a martini, but he says scotch will do the trick. She says she thinks she’ll join him. They drink to friendship. Jason tells her to go ahead and say she told him so. She says she had no idea Elizabeth knew all that time. He asks if she thinks it’s for the best, and she says Elizabeth always tried to turn him into the person she needed and he’s not that person. Jason says he wasn’t ready to listen before, but who’s he supposed to be? Carly says he has to figure it out for himself.

Henrico is listening to opera and Robin makes chitchat about it. She says her family traveled all the way to Pars and she can’t bear for them not to know what happened. Henrico says there’s nothing he can do. She asks if he was named for the guy in the opera who was a hero and tells him he needs to do the right thing.

Patrick says the last time Emma and Robin talked, it wasn’t their regular time and he thinks Robin was trying to tell them something.

Christina is working the laptop like a boss and thinks up a password I never would have. She looks at Alexis’s email and Molly reads something about disciplinary action with Christina at school. Christina deletes it before she can finish and says why ruin Christmas?

Maxie says she was going to visit Georgie’s memorial stone, but this is better. She asks if Dillon ever talks to Georgie. She says she does and it helps and hurts at the same time. Dillon says he thinks of both the high and low points of their relationship and it was everything. Maxie says she used to love the holidays, but now, not so much. Dillon identifies and so do I. Maxie says this year she has to work and they’d better get going before Nina sends out a search party.

Sam wants to leave something for Patrick at the hospital, but is told he’s on a leave of absence. Elizabeth pops out asking what does she expect, since she turned everyone’s lives upside down. Boo! Hiss!

Carly says normally she likes to interfere, but Jason should trust himself and that he has good instincts. Jason balks and Carly points out instances in the past seven months when he’s used them.

Patrick’s phone rings and it’s Robin. She says her neighbor told her he was looking for her. She finds out that Emma is there too. Robin says good-by and says she’s off to Elysium.

Alexis asks what’s going on and Christina says something about needing the computer for school work. When she goes back upstairs, Molly asks what kind of trouble Christina is in. Christina avoids the question.

Carly asks Jason to come to the gala. She says neither Elizabeth nor Sam will be there. She says he and Sonny can be miserable together. He says he only has a duffel bag of jeans and T-shirts, but Carly says she can set him up with one phone call.

Elizabeth, who apparently has no idea why Patrick is away, gives Sam a humongous lecture on how it’s her fault. Sam says for 7 months, she kept Jason’s identity while everyone else suffered. Elizabeth says that Sam is worse, pretending to love Patrick while really wanting Jason.

Robin tells Patrick she loves him and Henrico takes the phone. Impatient Jerry pops in again and says if you want a job done right, do it yourself. Henrico says he doesn’t know what to do about the lab. Jerry says he’ll do that part and Henrico takes Robin out of the lab. She says now they can escape and he needs to live up to his name as a hero. He says endings aren’t always happy and grabs her arm to take her down the hallway.

Patrick asks if Elysium is code for something. Robert says maybe, but Anna says it means “heaven.”

Sam goes home to Alexis’s, who looks absolutely amazing in a navy blue formal gown. Alexis says Sam looks like she wants to punch something and Sam tells her about running into Elizabeth. She also tells Alexis about Patrick and says she can’t figure it out. The ladies all leave for the gala.  Sam sees that Alexis forgot her check, but it’s too late, she’s gone. Fastest pulling out of a driveway ever.

Nina explains how she wants the guests’ pictures taken (in a bower of white branches) to Dillon. She chastises Dillon and Maxie for being late. Maxie says they’re here now and has Dillon take Nina’s photo.

Carly shows up at the gala with Jason. Monica says it’s great to see them. Carly says she left her phone at the bar and Jason goes back to get it. Monica thanks Carly for getting him there.

Franco and Elizabeth arrive. Franco says he’s proud of her for facing her challenges. He rambles and she tells him to stop talking.

Anna wonders if Robin knows they’re here. Robert says she isn’t in the compound anymore but is on the island and they’re going to have to hurry. Patrick wants to go with them. Robert says it’s dangerous, but there really isn’t much argument. Oh, yay, a hero moment for the lip gloss king.

Monica asks where Paul is and Tracy says he must have gotten tied up, but he’ll be there. Monica says she has to admit, the artwork from Ava is top-notch, but she still didn’t invite her. Alexis gets there and realizes she forgot the check. While she runs out, Christina makes sure her phone doesn’t have the message from the school

Maxie says Nina is really getting the hang of things. Franco shows up and says that Nina looks more beautiful every time he sees her. He says he brought a colleague.

Sam shows up with the check and sees Elizabeth. Jason sees the both of them. Soap opera faces all around.

The Scorpios get their old moves back and bust into the lab. With Anna and Robert’s guns drawn on Jerry, Patrick backs him up against the wall. Jerry says they’re too late, Robin is dead.

Monday – the Nutcracker Gala and more Scorpio fun!

General Hospital — Friday

I started typing until I realized they’re repeating the Thanksgiving episode. What ? Why? My only guess is that they got scared. When I turned it on, George Stephanopoulos was talking. I have no idea about what, since I was cursing him and my life at that moment, but then he went away. Whatever it was must have scared ABC into showing a repeat because they feared the viewers’ wrath should there have been  a total preemption. Better to just put the show off totally.

Master Chef Junior

I always preface this with how I don’t say much about this show because I’m snarky and mocking children isn’t my thing. I do love this show though, and Gordon Ramsey rocks. It’s nice to see his kinder, gentler side.

Tonight, the kids have to recreate a dish that they’ll be tasting while blindfolded. This is tough when the adults do it, never mind someone whose palate hasn’t been around the world yet. Oh, and they have 60 minutes to do it.

The team challenge, with the captains being the winners of the taste challenge, is to run a restaurant. Again this is similar to the adult version of either Master Chef or Hell’s Kitchen. They both blend in together after a while.  One team has ingredients from New England and the other, New Mexico.  I always feel bad for whoever’s picked last when it’s a team challenge.

A whole bunch of grandmas – and I mean that literally – are the judges, so I’m thinking maybe they’ll go easy on the kids, but then again, maybe not. It all looks good to me.

Speaking of Hell’s Kitchen, it’s premiering January 15.

The blue team wins, with Addy heading them once again. I predict her for the win.

Don’t worry kids who went home – one of whom was a surprise to me – I can barely get a buffet for 15 catered, never mind cook for an entire restaurant. Job more than well done!

Next week, Graham dresses like a chicken  and eggs are involved.

Z Nation

Citizen Z is trying to contact Addy. Or anybody for that matter. He’s down to his last battery. He’s desperate to tell them to abort the mission because the location has been compromised. The battery runs out and he throws the laptop away.

Vasquez and Roberta have gone inside the renegade diner. Roberta takes some tea from the woman behind the counter. Vasquez passes, but they signal for the others to come in. The counter lady talks about the diner and asks what it’s like out there.

Doc says all Zs. She asks if there’s anywhere safe, and Roberta says a few places, but not many. A car pulls up and it’s nothing good. It’s a bunch of guys from Deliverance and they ask for liquor. They ask if the woman’s name is Annie and when she says yes, the head guy says she’s the one who knows about The Murphy. They want the bounty.

Main dude buys a round of drinks for everyone. (Does anyone use money? What do they use?) The guy says they have The Murphy sedated and show them a zombie on a leash. Obviously not Murphy. Murphy is dressed like a woman with a scarf over his face. When head dude asks for a dance he pretends to be shy. Head dude throws something at Murphy and all the guns come out.

He says he’s noticed the real Murphy and his Murphy move at the same time. He’s getting suspicious about Murphy and while he’s talking his own zombie takes a bite out of him. There’s a mini shoot out and Annie stops it with her own gun. She sees that Muphy is the real deal

10K has been shot. Annie goes outside and fires a flare to contact Dr. Merch and what’s left of the CDC lab. 10K is losing a lot of blood. Murphy asks questions about where Dr. Merch has been hiding, but Annie says it’s classified.

Citizen Z packs up a sled, along with Pup, and says they’re not coming back.

A military team approaches the diner. Roberta asks Murphy if he’s ready. He says no, but when has that ever mattered? Roberta tells the lieutenant that Murphy is there. The Lt calls him “The Murphy” and Murphy says he doesn’t know where the “The” came in.  10K is taken out on a stretcher. Roberta tells the lieutenant to treat Murphy humanely. He say’s they’ll treat him like the celebrity he’s about to become. Addy says don’t forget the little people. Doc wants to go with 10K, but there isn’t enough room.

I don’t like this one bit.

Murphy tells Vasquez he’s sorry about Vasquez’s family. Doc says no good-by? Murphy holds out his hand, but Doc hugs him. Murphy gives Doc an Ace playing card and Doc gives Murphy a z-weed joint.  Murphy says good-by to Roberta. He says who knows, maybe he’ll actually do something good and she says they’re counting on him.

The caravan leaves. They start to clean up, but as Doc is removing a body, a shot hits it. Operation Bite Mark duck for cover. It’s the Zeros shooting up the place. We hear La Reina calling Roberta to come and get some mercy.

She’s looking pretty jacked up, hair all crazy and fire in her eyes. A gun battle ensues and La Reina tells her troops to advance. Annie, who’s pretty mean with a gun herself, calls everyone inside. La Reina has Dr. Kurian’s head in a box. When he starts being annoying, she closes the box. She looks through the site of her gun for Roberta.

Annie shows OBM her arsenal. She says she’s low on ammo, but they can give them hell in the meantime. It’s suddenly quiet, which Roberta says worries her more.

Murphy is on a submarine along with 10K, who is wheeled into surgery. They tell Murphy 10K is in good hands and he continues with Dr. Merch and the lieutenant. The doctor asks if Murphy has had any side effects, and Murphy says he is a walking side effect. The lieutenant talks about the development of a whole new world and tells Murphy that Zona (a reference to another episode) is not only real, it’s the future. At the beginning of the apocalypse, some businessmen and scientists created a new world on a zombie free island. Murphy notices that some of the crew have funny eyes. He says if they’re going to save the human race, they’d better get to it.

La Reina says she just wants Murphy. Roberta says too late, he’s gone. Vasquez tries to shoot La Reina, but misses. The back row of troops runs swords through the front row and uses them as shields like Uma Thurman in whichever Kill Bill movie that was.

Annie  gets shot and turns into a zombie. After a small tussle, Doc gives her mercy.

The Zeros are getting in.

Back at the sub, the doctor is preparing Murphy for giving some blood samples for tests. He asks her what the deal is with the crews’ eyes. She said it was a side effect of one of the early vaccines given to people on Zona . She says that some of the earliest people are losing their immunity and turning. She says that’s why they need him, especially the founder of Zona. He says he thought the vaccine was for everybody, and the doctor is a little vague in that it sounds like maybe when they get around to it, the peons will get a turn. Dr. Merch asks questions about childhood diseases and the usual medical background. When she asks id he has children, Murphy says that’s kind of personal and doesn’t answer.

Murphy asks for privacy, and Dr. Merch asks the guards to leave. When they’re gone, Murphy turns on her. He says he doesn’t want to be a blood bag for some billionaires when he traveled all that way and went through so much to save all of humanity.

It doesn’t look good for OBM. A big Zero dude is swinging around a mean looking weapon. Roberta shoots, but she’s out of bullets and the gun just makes that clicking sound. We both say, oh sh*t. Addy tries to fight him, but he breaks her weapon and hits her with his. While she’s down, she still has enough strength to hit him where it counts. In the meantime Roberta has reloaded and shoots him.

La Reina come drags her sorry self over to Roberta. She says it’s good to see her and can they talk like sisters. She says she’s unarmed and it’s not too late for Roberta to  be her right hand. She asks Roberta to help her find Murphy. Roberta says the CDC has him. La Reina says that was a big mistake.  They go head to head and it’s a pretty good fight scene. Again very Tarantino.

Finally Roberta is down and La Reina is standing over her, but Escorpion runs her through with a sword. What?

Citizen Z is pulling the sled with Pup in it through the snow. He doesn’t look too good. I’m always worried about him and Pup.

Roberta comes too and can’t believe Escorpion is there. Vasquez knocks him in the head and Roberta says he saved her life. Addy is surprised he’d kill his queen. He says she wasn’t human anymore. He says he won’t rob Vasquez of his revenge and he’s not afraid to die. He apologizes for killing Vasquez’s family and says he realized it was the worst thing he ever did and he wanted to die too. The rest of OBM leave the room so Vasquez can make his decision. They hear a gunshot and Escorpion comes out. They run in and Vasquez is sitting at the bar. He says he couldn’t do it and Roberta says she’s glad for him.

He’s looking at a picture of his wife and daughter. He says his mission is over. Roberta says it’s time to say good-by. Oh come on. Say something. She leaves and tells the others that Vasquez is alive, but he’s not coming with them. Doc asks what they’re doing now and Roberta says she doesn’t know.

An alarm is sounding on the sub. 10K is alone and gets off of the examining table.

Escorpion pulls up alongside OBM he asks if they need a ride. He says he’s got enough food, ammo and z-weed for a month. Addy tells Roberta they can always kill him and steal the truck. She’s kidding. I hope.

Vasquez is just sitting by himself looking at the picture. He rolls his bandana and puts it around his head. He leaves the diner to face a crowd of zombies and begins shooting and running.

Doc says he hates to admit it but he misses Murphy. Escorpion says he didn’t know him long, but Murphy seemed like kind of a dick.

They get to a cliff and look out to the ocean. The sub is burning. A small boat is jetting across the water from it. Doc looks through binoculars, and sees Murphy, but not 10K. The sub blows up. Addy starts to freak.

Some military planes fly overhead and Doc says they don’t look American. Roberta says, they’re not, and a bunch of military guys with guns pop out of the woods.

We get closer to the boat. Murphy is controlling it, as he’s bitten the lieutenant and Dr. Merch. 10K is playing the part of a soldier in a helmet.

Nooo! Citizen Z is conscious, but frozen in his tracks. He sees someone coming toward him, but does he really?

In the final reel, we see Murphy’s daughter who, no surprise, is growing like a weed. She’s controlling her foster parents who have now been turned into hybrid zombies.

While Z Nation will be back next year (they didn’t exactly say when), why must we have these hiatuses? I wish we could just go back to normal TV seasons where we were on a school year schedule and we had the summer off.

What I Watched Today

(random, rambling thoughts on today’s TV)

General Hospital – Thursday

I guess I didn’t miss anything yesterday, since everyone seems to be acting normally. Or at least as normal as they’re going to be in Port Charles.

Halloween is here! Emma has decided on the Evie costume (Paul told her it gave her “an edge”), Sam is the Evil Queen (been there, done that), and Patrick is a doctor (a real stretch) along with Danny as his mini-me. “Jake” and the rest of the boys are a football team

Spinelli has stayed behind to work on the “Jake” project. “All Hallows Eve,” he tells us, “is a night when secrets are revealed.” I live in hope, but not really. He’s also answering the door for trick-or-treaters, and Maxie shows up.

Dillon and Lulu are getting ready for The Haunted Star Halloween Extravaganza, but Lulu tells him she doesn’t see how they can be friends again. After a real just one kiss? She’s a little ridiculous. That almost rhymed. The PA, Andy, is editing his behind-the-scenes film and comes across the part where Valerie tells Dillon she slept with Dante and they didn’t know the camera was on. He says “whoa,” but I don’t because I already knew all that.

Ava, who always has the best outfits – today it’s a shocking blue number with black lace detail – is on the phone leaving a message for Kiki, asking her for help with the custody battle. Tracy shows up and says she wants “a piece of work,” but doesn’t mean Ava.

Paul tries to give Dillon some romance advice, and tells him to not give up. Rah-rah.

Andy is supposed to be setting up the music, and Lulu interrupts his film watching. He runs into Valerie in the hallway and tells her she looks smokin’ hot (she’s dressed as a 1950s schoolgirl and “cute” might be more appropriate). He asks if she has a better relationship going on and we both say, “Huh?” Valerie is looking for Lulu and goes in the editing room which is now a dressing room. Lulu is going with sexy cop. Zzzzzz….

Spinelli and Maxie SKYPE with their baby, Georgie, and then say how flawless she is. “A perfect collections of atoms,” Spinelli says.

Tracy is looking for a specific artist that only Ava’s gallery carries. She says that Ava shouldn’t expect Kiki’s help, and that Avery didn’t exactly hit the parent jackpot with a sociopath and a mob boss, but she picks Sonny to be the better parent regardless. I dunno. I like Ava. I like her more than I do Sonny anyway.

Dante tells Sonny the truth about Valerie. Sonny tells him it’s not going to do anyone any good for Dante to wallow in regret and suggests he go to confession.

Lulu tells Valerie that there’s weird tension between her and Dillon now, but Valerie tells her she shouldn’t give up the friendship. She says that Dillon has done a lot for her family and she should give him a break.

Commercial break. I am so tired of everything being “connected.” Sorry, but when I leave the house, I don’t want the phone, computer and television following me. I leave the house to get away from all that.

Ava tells Tracy to get lost, that she doesn’t need the sale that bad. Tracy runs into Paul at the door.

Andy tells Dillon he’d better take a look at the film. Yep.

Spinelli gives Maxie a book on goddesses, because she’s dressed like one and it’s not the first time. She says next time at leastshe’ll know which one she is. Spinelli says she’ll always be a goddess to him and they say they’ll always love each other. I wish they meant it that way. Nathan is hot, but I miss Spinelli, and I was never crazy about Ellie. Although it all seemed like just a vehicle to get Georgie off the canvas.

Elizabeth, now in her cheerleader outfit, is back home from trick-or-treating with the guys. Young Jake still keeps insisting that “Jake” is his father. Elizabeth asks “Jake” to consider adopting Jake and Cameron after they get married.

Nooooo! Maxie just spilled coffee all over Spinelli’s keyboard while the whole shebang was downloading. I actually said, “Noooo!” and gasped out loud and all the dogs looked at me like, what up? What up is that I’d better not have to wait until Christmas for this reveal. I’m more disappointed than Spinelli.

Sam tries to sop the mess up with a towel. Maxie is mortified and Spinelli tells her it’s fine. No. It’s not. She has to leave and suggests he put the laptop in some rice. (?) When she’s gone, Spinelli tells Sam it’s “an unmitigated disaster.” OMG, I can’t stand it.

Elizabeth talks to the boys alone about “Jake” adopting them. The boys are excited about it, and young Jake says he’s on board even though “Jake” doesn’t need to adopt him. This kid is like a dog with a bone.

Paul says he’s there to look at the same collection Tracy was interested in. He tells Tracy that Dillon turned down his funding offer because he wouldn’t feel right taking more money, and Tracy wonders whose child Dillon is. She says they can be supportive by going to The Haunted Star party, and he says he’ll meet her there.

Dante tells Sonny that Dillon knows about his indiscretion because Valerie told him. Sonny says she might be cool, but she obviously has no impulse control, and that he has to tell Lulu before someone else does. For once, I agree with him. Mostly because I want to see the fireworks.

Spinelli uses the hairdryer on the keyboard, when “Jake” shows up. He acts really cute with Danny and he seems like a natural as a dad. I feel Spinelli’s pain with that keyboard. I did the same thing twice in a row and finally got a keyboard you can put in the dishwasher.

Elizabeth tells Patrick that she’s glad “Jake” has stopped with chasing his real identity. And Patrick goes, D’oh! Because he know better.

Ava gets a text from her lawyer saying that under no circumstances will Kiki help her out. She starts to cry and Paul tells her to trust him, that it’s going to be okay. Then he kisses her big time. I’d just been thinking they might be good together.

Tracy tells Maxie she’ll be glad to contribute funding to the film, but she’d like a producer credit and a “teeny, tiny” say in the final cut. Maxie wonders why she bothered to ask.

Lulu and Dillon make up and while they’re hugging it out, Lulu sees a freeze frame of Dillon talking to Valerie on the laptop screen.

Patrick goes humana-humana, and says Elizabeth should try and see it from “Jake’s” side, that he wants to make sure he’s the man she needs him to be. She says blah-blah-blah, because I stopped listening to her a long time ago.

Spinelli says it’s do or die time. It’s back! The laptop is working! Hallelujah!

Jake gets a text from “Unknown” that says, “We’re coming for you.” Great. I hope they don’t come before we find out who he really is.

Lulu asks what’s on the screen and Dillon tells her it’s probably behind-the-scenes stuff. She says she guesses Valerie made the cut and wonders if she did. And then…SHE PRESSES THE BUTTON TO START THE FILM. Please, oh please, oh please.

Sonny tells Dante that being a man means making mistakes and figuring out how to fix them. (I think there might be a little more to it than that, but okay.) Dante says he’ll come clean with Lulu. I am so hoping it’s after she sees that film clip. I’m making popcorn.

Side comment: Since GH ends slightly before the hour, because we all know ABC can’t wait to give you the bad news, I flipped to CBS and saw the preview for tomorrow’s Dr. Phil. Jared Fogle is one huge deviant. I think Subway stock just plummeted to nothing from even that small clip.

General Hospital – Friday

Halloween continues. The Haunted Star is rocking and rolling. Morgan is dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow. How 2003 of him.

Dammit! Lulu hits play, but Dillon slams the laptop shut.

Franco and Nina are getting ready for the party or maybe they’re going to have their own party. Franco doesn’t want to give Kiki a ride (I have no clue what her costume is supposed to be – punk hipster?), and tells her to call a car. She’s been banned from the taxi company though, since she threw up in a cab. I guess they don’t have Uber. Ava shows up with baby Avery, who is dressed as a baby unicorn.

Andy shows up and Lulu goes back to tend to her guests. Dillon wants to know what’s up with the behind-the-scenes footage.

Paul shows up while Anna is at the docks. She tells him she thinks he’s part of a cover-up involving the deceased Carrrlos. Paul asks her what she sees when she looks in the mirror, and that he sees a decent person who’s crumbling from the inside out. He says she’s been a wreck since she came back to Port Charles. Then he says it. “You murdered Carrrlos Rivera.”

Sabrrrina (a princess) tells Felix (a vampire) that the baby might not be Michael’s. She tells him about her tryst with Carrrlos.

“Jake” is at (where else?) The Floating Rib with Carly, Michael and Sam. It’s a pseudo bachelor party. Yay! Karaoke time! “Jake” and Sam get up to sing. Their book of songs looks a lot more organized than the one where I do karaoke. I’m disappointed that we don’t get to hear anyone sing.

Spinelli tells Sam that the reconstruction should be completed shortly, but then what? I’ll tell him what. He’s going to see Jason’s face and I can stop putting quotes around Jake’s name.

Elizabeth gets a gift of a family heirloom and note from Audrey, apologizing for not being able to make the ceremony, but sending much love. Since we see her writing it, I assume Rachel Ames either wasn’t able to participate more than that or they didn’t want to pay her for more than that.

Dante tells Nathan (a gladiator) that he’s going to come clean with Lulu. Dante is dressed as a cheating husband.

Dillon tells Andy to delete the footage. Andy says it’s 50% of his grade, but he won’t include that part. I’m a little confused why he just can’t edit it out immediately.

Maxie is hitting up Morgan for some funding. He wants a scene with Darby, who he’s at the party with. I thought he made up with Kiki. WTH? Ohh, I’ll bet I did miss something yesterday.

Kiki tells Ava not to push her or she’ll tell the DA everything she’s ever done. Franco asks her to leave. She begs Kiki to let her fix things, but it’s a no. Ava asks Franco to help with the Kiki situation. She says that none of this would have happened if Franco hadn’t left her to die on the bridge. He says he’ll take it under advisement. She says that when he’s sitting around getting fat off of Nina’s money, to remember that he could have saved Avery from Sonny.

OMG, I think I know what’s going to happen. Dillon is supposed to show “the sizzle reel,” whatever that means, to help them promote the film. Maybe it will be a sizzle in a different way.

Good Lord, I can’t stand it. Something is up with Ellie, and Spinelli says he’s going home at once. No, no, no, no, no. Not before that reconstruction finishes. He leaves a phone message for Sam, saying he has to go, but he’s leaving the laptop with her. Are they on dial-up or something? What takes days to download anymore?

Paul tells Anna that he has enough evidence to convict her, but doesn’t want to send her to prison. Paul planted Carrrlos’s wallet on another body that was too decomposed for them to tell, and had it cremated before anyone could ask too many questions. Or check dental records.

Lulu tells Tracy that she and Dante want to try for another child. Tracy tells her she’s not going to give out any unicorns and rainbows, and that Lulu has enough on her plate.

Valerie tells Dante she made it into the police academy. Valerie and Dante hug it out and Dillon is lurking. Dante wants to tell her about how he’s going to confess to Lulu, but she says it’s not a good time and disappears.

Paul tells Anna that she deserves a break, that she only made one bad decision. He says that maybe she’ll be in a position to return the favor one day.

Sabrrrina says she’s barely holding it together, and Felix tells her she needs to take a paternity test.

Patrick says something to Elizabeth about having cold feet, because she’s getting married “tomorrow.”  Um, even in Soapland, the day after Halloween isn’t November 6.

Kiki makes it to the party. She’s looking for Morgan, who is getting busy with Darby somewhere. I can’t tell if he’s still at the party or they’re at a hotel.

Anna sees Carrrlos! I would so love it if he wasn’t really dead. No body, no dead, I say. Even sometimes when there’s a body, they’re not dead.

Here comes the sizzle reel…. YES! And the remote won’t work. Thank you! Thank you! This just made my Halloween.

Spinelli gives Carly the laptop and asks her tells her to pass it along to Sam. The facial recognition is now 99% complete. These people are going to kill me yet.

The last thing we see is “Jake’s” face turn into Jason’s on the laptop screen. Finally. I hope.

Z Nation

Operation Bite Mark is assessing their supplies, which pretty much consist of a handful of bullets, some batteries, and a few pieces of chewing gum “for repair purposes only.”

Doc wakes Murphy, who’s been dreaming of brains. And I don’t mean smarts, I mean a snack. While helping Doc forage for lunch, Murphy sees a brain hanging from a rope. When he investigates, he falls into a hole. Like one of those cartoon traps. A zombie is there already, eating some brains. When the zombie holds them out to Murphy, he dips his finger in them and puts it across his gums, as though it was cocaine. And it gives him a jolt like the same.

A dude in a steampunk outfit enters the hole, knocks Murphy out and tangles with the zombie, killing him. Murphy wakes up in a lab. Steampunk dude is doing some kind of experiments, and is startled that Murphy seems to have a certain amount of comprehension. Because Murphy has been choked out, he can’t quite speak. Oh, I get it. Steampunk Dude (who actually looks like a middle-aged hippie) set the trap for experiment subjects.

Murphy asks for water. He gets his voice back, and Steampunk Dude brings out a recording of Citizen Z describing Murphy. At least he got a clue pretty quickly. What he decides to do about Murphy is yet to be seen.

Murphy ends up in a shock collar. He says his friends will be looking for him. Steampunk Dude gets a little nuts, talking about the CDC (the organization that Murphy is headed to). Apparently, he’s been hassling them for years, and has a stack of returned mail, with the addresses written in crayon, to prove it. No doubt he has some cease and desist letters too. He also constantly makes notes on cards he keeps on a makeshift Rolodex around his neck.

Steampunk Dude has been banned from Comicon because he was actually serious about being a zombie hunter. He’s created a zombie museum. A lot of nerdy repartee happens while he shows Murphy his collection. He also has an interesting Groot. He says that George Romero working social commentary into horror films has resonance. Murphy sees a poster for Dawn of the Dead and says scary and funny is the way he likes his zombies. There is a whole lot of discussion about Dawn of the Dead. Steampunk Dude says Romero never explained why the dead rise and that’s more horrifying than anything else. Good point. Steampunk Dude says Murphy is to be revered. Geez, you’d think he’d take off the shock collar then. Steampunk Dude has hot running water, and Murphy gets a shower. Probably the first one in who knows how long.

After his shower, Murphy is getting dressed when Steampunk Dude struggles with a zombie. Murphy gets the best of him while he’s distracted, says he must be on his way, and then gets shot in the back with some kind of dart. Shit. Steampunk Dude says that Murphy is only the CDC’s pawn, and if anyone wants to see him, they’ll have to go through Steampunk Dude first. His plans are to have an interactive display in his museum with Murphy.

He puts Murphy in the guest chair and does some kind of public access show called Dead Live, that I imagine is for posterity since there’s no electricity for people to watch TV.  I do learn his name is Dean though. He takes a bone marrow sample from Murphy with a six or eight inch needle (he isn’t sure which) because science is all about trying, and he wants to see if it tells him anything.

In an interview segment, Murphy says he was in prison and being used as a guinea pig for experimental drugs by the CDC. When the prison was overrun with zombies, he was bitten, but survived. He said he made a promise to eat the doctor’s brains that was in charge of the experiments.

We periodically see OBM searching through every house for Murphy in the meantime.

Dean continues to interview Murphy about everything from what happens when he bites someone (he says nothing special, even though we know otherwise, and they flash back to Cassandra) and whether he can control zombies with his thoughts (“that’s how rumors get started”). He tells Dean that he doesn’t know what brains taste like because he’s never eaten them, and Dean responds by saying, “For the first time on television…” When Dean leaves to put the bone marrow sample in the fridge, Murphy taps into the brain of a lab zombie and tells him to cut Murphy’s bonds with a medical tool. Before that can be accomplished though, Dean returns.

Dean has a display of live zombies, chained behind an electric fence. In the “Celebrity Zombie Room,” it’s George RR Martin signing books. Murphy doesn’t know who he is because they didn’t have HBO in prison. Dean says they were both at the last Comicon when the apocalypse happened.  Because the autograph reflexes run so deep, George can still autograph books and Dean says he’ll make a mint when eBay comes back and he has thousands of them. He asks Murphy if his telepathic powers can get George to finish his last book. I’m with him one that. Murphy picks up a manuscript that begins, “Summer is here,” (ha-ha!) and wonders why 800 pages isn’t enough (snort). Murphy asks if he can keep one of the books and slams Dean in the head with it. Running past the exhibit, he sees a chair meant for him. Dean chases him through what looks like an old hotel all the while giving him various monetary incentives to stick around. When Murphy reaches the front door, Dean says 50/50 is the best he can do. Dean pushes a buzzer and tells Murphy to go, but the door is electrified. Dean says Murphy is dangerous and he’s  going to drain Murphy’s blood and freeze it. He keeps using the shock collar on Murphy and its pissing me off.

10K is at the door! Murphy can’t see him, and Dean keeps shocking him, so he can’t do anything. This is a freakin’ stressful moment. Dean goes to the door and 10K says he’s looking for a friend. Dean says he hasn’t seen anyone. 10K isn’t satisfied though and keeps asking questions. He finally leaves, but gets in to the building through the kitchen. He walks past the live display and finds Murphy, with an IV draining his blood.

Here comes the ohshitohshitohshit moment.

Dean comes up behind 10K and shocks him. I guess this is the only way to incapacitate both zombies and people. He wants Murphy to turn 10K. In a zombie way.10K begs him not to turn him into “one of those things.” Murphy says he doesn’t know what 10K is talking about, and Dean shocks him. Murphy tells 10K not to be afraid. 10K says he doesn’t fear Murphy, he hates him and wishes he would die for real. They both get another shock when Murphy says they finally agree on something. Dean fires a warning shot and says if Murphy doesn’t bite 10K, he’ll shoot them both. OBM has heard the shot. Murphy is about to bite 10K when he asks Dean if he’s sure that’s what he wants. Dean says to show him what it’s like to be a zombie. This was probably the wrong thing to say, as Murphy sics the now loose display zombies on him. So much blood has been drained from Murphy, he passes out, and the zombies look at 10K

This is not good. And it doesn’t matter that 10K says, “I’m with him,” pointing to the unconscious Murphy. OBM arrives and has just enough bullets to get rid of the zombies. They wheel Murphy out as he regains consciousness.

Vasquez gets the collar off of Murphy. Doc sets up the IV to put the blood back into Murphy. Murphy asks Roberta to promise not to leave him alone when they get to California and she does. Murphy seems alone and afraid, and it’s a little sad.

IMO, this was one of the best episodes ever. Not only did we get a lot of Murphy’s backstory, it appealed to the nerd in me. The original Dawn of the Dead is one of my favorite horror films, and the banter about it was excellent. The George RR Martin cameo was a real delight as well.
