What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

On the phone, Nikolas leaves a message for Ava to call him. On another phone, Spencer says he gets it. Cameron’s girlfriend isn’t happy with him right now, but if he can ride out Joss and Trina hating him, then Cameron can too. Please, Spencer needs him to do this one favor. Esme walks in as he’s talking, and says, what favor is that?

At the gallery, Trina hears a noise, and gets her pepper spray out of her bag. She goes toward the entrance as Rory is coming in, and she says, oh, it’s you. He says, she can put that down now, and she agrees she can, but she doesn’t know if she should.

Portia says she was worried about Curtis. She couldn’t reach him all day. He apologizes for being radio silent, and she wonders if he’s going to tell her that Marshall left town, and he went after him. He nods, and she asks if he found Marshall. He says, he found Marshall; then he lost him again.

Dante meets Willow and Michael in the MetroCourt Garden, since it’s replaced the pool as the hot new set. He says he’s sorry Sam can’t make it. Something came up, and she sends her regrets. Michael asks if everything is good, and Dante says he thinks so. Sam encouraged him to come, so he’s sure it’s nothing too serious.

In the ER, TJ checks Alexis’s vision, and Sam runs in. She asks, what happened? and Alexis says, she and Carly barely escaped with their lives. Girls night out. Sam asks TJ what she’s talking about; is she okay? TJ says, she’s not exaggerating. She and Carly were attacked. Sam asks, by who? and Alexis says, by someone she thought was her friend.

Jordan is in another cubicle with Carly, and Amy tells Carly that the attending wants to monitor her; try to get some rest. As soon as she’s gone, Carly takes off the oxygen mask, and says, she knows Jordan has questions for her, but they’ve got to find Harmony before she goes after Willow and Wiley. Jordan asks why she thinks Harmony is a danger to her own daughter and grandson, and Carly says, Harmony had some kind of psychotic break. She’s desperate to keep the secret that Willow is not her daughter.

Sasha kneels by Harmony, and the photographer says, how’s this for a headline – Supermodel Speedster Slays. She says, can’t he see? This woman is barely breathing. She needs an ambulance right now. On the phone, Gladys says she doesn’t know the exact location, and Sasha says she can’t focus. She tells the photographer to help Gladys, and he takes the phone, while Gladys goes to help Sasha. Sasha says, help her turn Harmony over, but Gladys isn’t sure they should. Sasha says, this lady is barely breathing; she needs CPR right now. On three, she wants Gladys to turn Harmony toward her. One… two… three. They turn her over, and Gladys says, she thought it was a deer, but it was a person. Sasha sees it’s Harmony, all bloody, and she’s shocked.

Alexis tells Sam, she took off on foot. She could be anywhere.

Carly tells Jordan that she found a piece of paper in a file. They were notes from a therapy session, and mentioned Harmony by name. Something about Harmony feeling guilty for taking a child that wasn’t her own. Jordan says, these were Neil Byrne’s notes? and Carly says, when she went to the fireplace, because Harmony was burning some papers, the heading on the paper said, Dr. Neil Byrne, Psychiatrist, and that’s when Harmony came after her with a needle. Jordan says, this could explain why Brendon Byrne was found dead in the water by the pier, and Carly says, all she knows is, when she woke up in her SUV, she could hear Harmony and Alexis arguing. Harmony was threatening Alexis. She went after Alexis, but then Carly tackled her to the ground. The moment Harmony heard Alexis get through to 9-1-1, she took off. Jordan says, this was all because of Neil Byrne’s file. What was so compelling that Harmony would commit multiple homicides to keep it quiet?

Willow says, she’s sorry Sam’s missing out, but she won’t complain about having two handsome dinner companions. Dante wonders if he won’t be the third wheel. Don’t they want a rare night out? Willow says, they manage get out when they can, and asks what Dante’s been up to. Dante says, working. He was just at the gym; Sonny was there. He heard Sonny and Michael had a dust up. Willow says, excuse her. She’s going to call the nanny and check on Wiley. She leaves, and Dante says, that was very tactfully done. Michael asks what their father had to say, and Dante says, he heard Sonny’s side; he was hoping to hear Michael’s. Michael says, it’s between dad and him. It’s best Dante stays out of it.

Curtis tells Portia that he’s sorry about today. He’s in a negative headspace. He had a confrontation with Marshall, and of course (🍷) it didn’t go very well. She asks how this confrontation was any different than the others he had with Marshall, and he says, this time, he had knowledge. He discovered some secrets Marshall’s been keeping from him. She asks how he came across this knowledge, and he says he did some digging. She says, and Marshall was upset about the invasion of his privacy, and Curtis says, so much so, he packed his bags and left town. She says she sees. And what does he think upset Marshall more, that Curtis unearthed his secrets, or that he used Drew to do it?

Rory says he didn’t mean to scare Trina. He noticed she hadn’t locked the door. She says she meant to; she just got caught up with work. He says, she should be more careful. Commissioner Ashford told him to keep watch. She said there’s been some trouble with the press? Although he doesn’t recommend pepper spraying a reporter. Can she put that away now? She says, sorry, and puts it back in her bag. He says, close call. Looks like she has good aim. She says, she does. Her dad is an ex-cop. He says he’s sure he taught her the importance of handling weapons safely, and she says, trust her, she knows. He says, good. He’d hate to have to take her in. She says, like he did with Cam and Spencer? Overreact much? He says, she’s still mad that he detained her friends, but she says, friend. Cam is her friend. He says, and Cassadine isn’t?

Spencer tells Cameron, he’s glad they understand one another, and ends the call. Esme asks, who was that? and he says, Cameron. She says, Cam’s doing him a favor? and he says, if he knows what’s good for him. He told Cam that he needs to watch what he says about Esme in the future, or things might get physical again. She says, he and Cam got into a fight? and he says, they were dragged down to the PCPD, but now Cam knows that he’s not going to tolerate him badmouthing her anymore. She says, he did that for her? He has to be careful. He can’t get arrested again. He says, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her, and tells her that he has to get going. She asks, where? and he says, the gallery, so he can get started on the many menial tasks Ava’s assigned to him. If he goes after hours, he can avoid Ava and Trina. She says she appreciates that. He kisses her on the cheek, says, it always has been us against the world, and leaves.

Nikolas’s phone dings, and the message from Ava says: Plans tonight. Don’t wait up. He throws the phone across the room, when Esme walks in. She says, something on his mind? He says, this is a waste. All that effort, Ava isn’t even taking his calls. He flips over the table set for his and Ava’s dinner, sending everything flying. Esme says, it was a beautiful table. She’s sorry about Ava, and for her part in ruining his plans. He says, it’s not her fault, but she says, Ava isn’t here because Ava resents the fact she is. She starts to pick things up, but he tells her, leave it; he’ll have someone clean it. She says, Ava even put their vow renewal on hold, and he says, no one’s forced her to make those choices. She says, it’s so obvious how he worships his wife. She can’t understand how Ava doesn’t appreciate that. She sees what kind of partner he is, and she wants that kind of passion and loyalty in her life. She takes his hand, and says, he doesn’t deserve to be stuck in this house without the love he so desperately needs. Laura walks in, and says, she comes bearing glad tidings. Nobody has to be stuck. Esme doesn’t have to hide out anymore.

Trina says, she asked Rory not to arrest Cam, if he recalls. Now if he’ll excuse her, she has work to do. She’ll lock up when he goes. He says he wasn’t trying to be a jerk. Commissioner Ashford is really pushing for everything to be by the book. She says, nothing wrong with being disciplined; she can relate. He says, and so she knows, both guys got off with a warning. She says she supposes he’s just doing his job, possibly taking it too seriously, and he says, since she cut him some slack, he wouldn’t turn down something to drink while he keeps watch in his patrol car. She says, Officer Invisible did give her a soda once. She guesses she can return the favor. He says, actually Cabrera, but she can call him Rory, if she ever needs to call him.

Curtis says, Drew told Portia about their plan? and she says, he told her the basics. He said he set up an interview with Marshall so they could do a background check. Curtis says, Marshall was upset by all the subterfuge. He was even more upset that Curtis ignored his wishes to stop searching. She asks, then why did he do it? and he says, he did it for her and Trina; for Aunt Stella and TJ, and everyone he loves. They had to find out what Marshall was hiding. And he doesn’t regret doing it, because what he found out was eye-popping. The man was never in the Witness Protection Program, and no link to organized crime. In fact, his arrest was because of a protest rally decades ago. She doesn’t understand why he would hide that, and Curtis says, he’s guessing, pride. He was embarrassed he never did jail time. Instead, he was sent to a mental institution. He was going to tell her; he just wanted to confront the man first. She says, Curtis doesn’t owe her that information, but she’s wondering why he didn’t share with her how he acquired it. Subterfuge, digging; her perspective could have helped him with this. And she thought they were in this together, but he didn’t trust her with any of it?

Michael says, he doesn’t recognize their father anymore; does Dante? Dante says, of course (🍷) he does. He’s going through some changes. Michael says, changes that directly affect his mother and son. His mother can take care of herself, but Wiley can’t. That means he has to put his relationship with Sonny behind him. Dante asks, for how long? when Willow comes back, and says, Wiley’s just fine. Dante’s phone rings, and he says, now it’s his turn to be excused. He steps away, and Willow asks if everything is okay. Michael says, Dante didn’t try to talk him out of his positions, and she says, relationships with parents are tricky. She needs to check in with her mom about her drinking last night. It’s not like her. Dante comes back, and says, he just got called to the scene of an accident; he has to jet. Willow says, eventful night, and Dante says, it appears so. He tells Michael, whatever happens with him and Sonny, they’re brothers, always. Michael says, always, and Dante says, raincheck on the dinner? Michael says, sounds good. Next time, bring Sam. Dante says, of course (🍷). No more third wheel for them.

Sam says, Alexis couldn’t have known how deep Harmony’s lies went, or what she was actually capable of. Alexis says, she didn’t; not even close. She killed Neil, then became Alexis’s friend, and tried to kill her.

Carly says, Harmony stole a baby. That’s pretty shocking. Jordan asks if it’s sufficient motive to try to kill Carly and Alexis, kill Neil Byrne, and his brother. Was it all to avoid going back to prison, or is there more to the story? Carly flashes back to confronting Harmony about saying owed Nina, and Harmony saying that she misspoke. Carly says she’s not sure, and Jordan says, try her. Carly says she thinks Brendon knew Harmony killed his brother, and Jordan says, then why not come to the police? Especially when he had damning evidence in her file? Carly says, apparently, he was trying to shake Harmony down, and Jordan says, but why go to such extreme lengths? And what was in that file? What else does Carly know?

Sasha does CPR, and Gladys asks, if she dies, are they going to get in trouble? Harmony takes a breath, and Sasha says, she’s back. She tells Harmony, hold on; help is coming. The photographer starts taking pictures, since he learned nothing from Princess Diana’s death, and tells Sasha, look at him.

Jordan wonders if there was anything, any indication why Harmony would kill two people, and try to kill two more, and Carly doesn’t know what Jordan wants her to say, What she does know is, Willow is going to be devastated, and she’s worried about Willow’s safety. Michael and Wiley too, which is why she has to let them know what’s going on. Jordan says, it’s being handled. Everyone has to remain calm, including Carly. So sit tight; got it? Carly nods, and Jordan’s phone rings. She leaves to take the call, and Carly says, you bet I’ll sit tight, and starts to gather up her stuff.

Sam wonders if Alexis needs more medical attention, but Alexis says, she heard TJ. No concussion. She’s fine… at least physically. Sam says she’s so sorry Harmony did this to her; she let that woman into her home. Alexis says she’s realizing Harmony wasn’t just the cause of one bad night, but many.

The photographer snaps photos all around the gurney the paramedics have Harmony on. One of them says, dude, seriously, what are you doing? The photographer goes over to Sasha and Gladys, and says, there’s two ways this thing can play out. He can sell these pictures with Sasha being the heroine who saved the day, or she can stand in his way, and the story is, she caused this tragedy. Gladys tells her to go with the first one. He’s going to sell something. The bad press will make Deception’s stock go down. Is that what she wants? The photographer says, it benefits them both, and he wants his memory card returned. The paramedics bring Harmony through, and one tells Sasha, nice job keeping her alive, and the photographer says, isn’t she great? They go to the ambulance, and the photographer says, his memory card, holding out his hand. Sasha says she doesn’t think so, and starts to walk away. He says, okay, the Face of Collision it is. She asks why he doesn’t leave her alone, and he says, the whole world will see she’s flaming out after she lost her kid. Wow. He’s extra stupid, since I doubt the public would be on his side. Sasha goes after him and Gladys pulls her back. Dante arrives, and gets in the middle, saying, stop.

Portia says, she doubts Curtis would have gotten Drew involved unless she had serious concerns, but she wishes he would have trusted her. He says he does trust her, but ever since they moved in together, he’s been concerned about Marshall’s past showing up on their doorstep. And leaving Trina alone with him when Aunt Stella had her panic attack didn’t help matters. She says, Trina seemed perfectly safe with Marshall, and he says he’s not saying Marshall’s the danger. He’s worried about Marshall’s past, and had to get answers. She asks how he went about it. Didn’t Marshall’s background check come back clean? He says, Marshall had a sealed arrest record. He told Curtis that himself. She says she knows Marshall didn’t tell him the contents of that record. How’d he go about finding out?

Laura sees the mess, and asks, what happened here? Nikolas says, a momentary lapse. What’s this great news? She says she had a conversation with Sonny, and he assured her, Esme has nothing to fear. He gave her his word, and his word is his bond. So they can all resume their normal lives. Perhaps Esme can move out now. Nickolas says, let’s not be too hasty.

Rory is looking at a painting, when Trina comes back. She says, sorry, this is all they have, handing Rory a bottle of Pellegrino. She asks if he likes the painting, but he says he’s not sure. He doesn’t know anything about art. He’s walked past the Chuck museum a thousand times, but never set foot inside. She says, that’s sad; he’s definitely missing out. He says he really likes the front steps. It’s a great place to eat his lunch. She says, trust her. What’s inside is a million times better. He says, even if he has no idea what he’s looking at? and she says, the thing about art is it’s subjective. How does this painting make him feel? Spencer quietly comes in, and Rory says, hopeful? Trina asks, why hopeful? and Rory says she’s putting him on the spot. Something about the mixture of dark and light. She says, she can see that, and Spencer says, that’s called contrast. Rory should ask Trina to educate him about chiaroscuro, the treatment of light and shade. Trina says, he is the expert on all things shady. Why is he here?

Portia says she knows a former investigator has all kinds of sources, and she’s not asking Curtis to reveal them, but getting access to a sealed police record… He says, she doesn’t approve, and she says, she’s not judging him; she’s concerned. He says, about Marshall or his relationship with Marshall? and she says, of course (🍷) she hopes Marshall is okay. She’s sensitive to him wanting to keep his mental health issues private. As far ask their father/son relationship, she’s with Curtis. She supports what he wants. He asks, then why is she upset? and she says she doesn’t want to lose him.

Rory says, if it isn’t the mayor’s grandson. What brings Spencer here? Spencer says, work. He’s here to start his restitution, and since Trina is no longer supervising him, he figured he could make his own hours. Rory says, he bets. Spencer seems to like making up his own rules. Spencer says, if it’s a bad time, he can leave, but Trina says she’ll go. She just needs to finish. Rory says he’ll be in the car, thanks Trina for the water, and leaves, and my God is his belt LOUD. Spencer asks why Trina is hanging out with Rory, and Trina says, not that it’s any of his business, but Commissioner Ashford assigned him to her for her protection. He says, like a bodyguard, and she asks why Rory made that comment about him being the mayor’s grandson. He says, so they’re on a first name basis now, and she says, he used his grandmother’s position to avoid charges. He says, Rory would have found out anyway, and she says, he doesn’t think twice, does he? He just throws money and influence, or both, and expects things to go his way. She thought he’d grow out of it, but she was wrong all along. He’s still the same entitled brat she had the bad luck of meeting months ago.

Nikolas tells Laura, Spencer and Esme can’t support themselves, and Esme says she still doesn’t have access to her trust fund, and Spence is making nothing at the gallery. Laura says she’s sure Spencer could go back to working at Kelly’s, but Esme says, Spencer and Cameron had a… disagreement. Laura says, she’s aware. She was Spencer’s first call from Jail. Esme says she should probably go talk to Spence; tell him the good news. She fakes being happy, and thanks Laura, hugging her. Laura says she’s so welcome, and Esme leaves. Nikolas says he appreciates Laura coming and delivering the news in person, and she says, not a minute too soon it seems.

Dante asks, what happened? What’s going on? The photographer says, he’s bleeding and Sasha is insane. Sasha says, he’s insane, calling him a bloodsucker, and Gladys says, not another word without an attorney present. She’s calling Brando. She tells Dante, Sasha’s not saying another word, so save his breath. The photographer says he needs medical attention, and Dante says he can drive himself to GH. Just don’t leave the hospital before Dante gets his statement. He says, Dante is going to get his statement all right, and Dante says, get out of here. He leaves, and Dante asks if Sasha is okay, but she says, no. How’s Harmony? He says, too soon to tell. What happened here? She says, that horrible man was chasing them, and he asks, was he trying to get photos? Sasha says, she was trying to get away from him. She was driving… He stops her, and reminds her that she does have a right to counsel, but he needs to know what happened with Harmony. How did she get hurt? Sasha says, she ran out into the road right in front of her car. She couldn’t swerve. My God. What if she doesn’t make it? Gladys comes back, and says, that’s enough for now. Can’t Dante see she’s upset? He says he’s going, but Sasha should get to GH; she could be in shock. They can come to the station in the morning to give their statements. Gladys tells Sasha, let’s go, and leads her away. Dante sees something on the ground covered in blood. The memory card?

Michael says, some date night, huh? and Willow says, it started off weird. Sam couldn’t make it, and Dante got called away. It’s not his fault. He says he’s been in a funk since Dante brought up his dad, and she says, having a parent out of your life is not easy, but it doesn’t have to be forever. Look at her and her mom. He says, enough gloomy talk. Like Dante said, it’s a rare night out. Let’s make the best of it. She asks if he has anything particular in mind, and he says he has a few things in mind. They kiss, and his phone rings. He says, of course (🍷). It’s Carly, who asks if Willow is with him, and he says, they just sat down to dinner. Is everything okay? She says, everything is not okay. It’s not about Wiley, but she needs him and Willow to come to the ER right now. She’ll tell him everything when they get here. He says, they’re on their way, and Willow asks, what is it?

Carly asks if Alexis is okay, and Alexis says, she’s fine thanks to Carly. Carly saved her life. What about her? Carly thanks Alexis, saying, if Alexis hadn’t shown up when she did… Sam comes out, and says, Spinelli’s trying to get a location on Harmony’s phone, and Alexis says, Harmony sure as hell won’t be calling her. Her reporter was at the PCPD, and said they have no information yet, but hopefully, they’ll find Harmony, and this will all be over soon. Amy tells Alexis that her discharge papers are ready, and they’re working on Carly’s. Harmony is brought in on a gurney, and the paramedic says she was in full arrest on scene, and a bystander performed CPR. She has multiple head injuries and probably head trauma. Amy says, that’s Willow’s mother, and TJ says a bunch of medical stuff. I laugh, wondering if he even knows what he’s saying.

Gladys says she agrees with Dante that Sasha should be checked out at GH. Brando’s very worried about her. Sasha tells Gladys, just say it. Gladys says, Harmony came out of nowhere. There’s no way Sasha could have avoided her. She lowers her voice to a whisper, and says, the fact is, Sasha was speeding. What’s on that memory card that’s got her so bent? Sasha flashes back to the photographer taking photos of her taking a pill, and she says she’s so sick of being treated like an animal on exhibit. Since she lost Liam, her grief has been judged and analyzed, and she can’t take it. Gladys says she gets it. Don’t worry. The memory card is safe in her purse. Sasha asks if she can have it, and Gladys says, of course (🍷), but she wants to get Sasha to the hospital first. Sasha says she hopes Willow is there. She owes Willow an explanation.

Alexis asks what Jordan found out. Does she know what happened to Harmony? Jordan says, apparently, she was struck in a single vehicle collision, and Sam says, Harmony was able to commandeer a getaway car and crashed it? Willow and Michael come in, and Willow asks if this is about her mom. Where is she? What happened? Jordan suggests they have a seat, but Willow says, tell her what’s going on with her mother. Is she okay? Jordan says, her mother was struck by a car earlier tonight, and Willow says she wants to see her, but Jordan says, they’re stabilizing her now. Carly tells Willow that they’ll do everything they can for her mom, and Willow says, she doesn’t understand. Did her mom drive off the road? Michael ask how Carly found out, and what happened to her face? Carly says, they’ll talk about it later, and Willow asks if Carly knows what’s happening here?

Curtis says he’s not going nowhere, but Portia says, he can’t promise that, not if he’s using questionable methods; he’s keeping her at bay. She went through this whole thing with Taggert. She’s not doing it again. He says, he did what he did to protect what they have, and she says, did what exactly? There’s no way he got that sealed report from a legitimate source. He says he doesn’t want to jeopardize what they’re building, and she says she’s glad to hear it. She knows his past is important to him, but he needs to promise, from this point forward, to put their future first.

Laura says, she seems to have walked in on a sort of close moment between Nikolas and Esme. He indicates the mess, and says, he was upset because Ava wasn’t available for a surprise dinner he’d arranged. He didn’t realize Ava had other plans. Esme blamed herself, and he was consoling her. This makes me cringe, and Laura says, seems to her, he should be consoling his wife. He says, now that Esme won’t be around as much, hopefully, things will improve, and Laura says, she’s worried about Spencer. He’s been fighting with his friends, and he’s becoming increasingly isolated. Soon it will just be Esme and Victor. Nikolas says, and him; they’re still growing closer. Laura puts her hand on his arm, and says, get Esme out of the house. She is the common denominator in all of these strained relationships. He says, Esme’s not perfect, but Laura is giving her too much power. Laura says, she’s manipulative. Can’t he see that? She sows chaos. He says, bottom line, Esme wants to be loved and needed. Once she and Spencer patch things up, and get back on track, Spencer can rebuild his life. Then he and Ava can rebuild theirs, and once that finally happens, they’ll come together as a family. She asks, when did he become an optimist? and he asks if it’s wrong to hope for a positive outcome. She says, not necessarily, but she thinks he’s being naïve. There is a scorpion under his roof. Get rid of her before she poisons all of them.

Spencer says, Trina can’t blame him for using his connections. Another arrest on his record, and he could go back to prison. Isn’t she doing all she can to keep from being incarcerated? She says she’s innocent… not that he believes her. He asks if she really regrets meeting him, and she says, how self-absorbed can you get? She’s facing trial, and a Title 9 investigation that could get her kicked out of school. Out of all the things she stands to lose, he’s the least important. He says, he knows he hurt her, but don’t try to hurt him, no matter how much he deserves it; it’s just not her style. She says, maybe he doesn’t know her after all. She was certainly wrong in thinking she knew him. He says, she does know him. She believes in him. At least she did. She says, he’s the only person who would try to make her feel guilty for his sick wack friendship. He says, that’s not what this is, and she says, yes it is. He’s playing all the hits, but she’s not listening. He abandoned her when she needed him the most. If he wants to work nights, she can work days. He tells her not to interrupt her schedule. He just needed to get out of the house. She says, issues with his dad? and he says, actually, they’re on better terms than they’ve been in a long time. She says, then what is he running from? His beloved Esme?

Curtis says, there’s nothing more important than their future together, and Portia says, what about Marshall? Will Curtis look for him? He says, Marshall disappeared successfully for decades. He’s beginning to think Marshall doesn’t want to be found. She says, nobody knew to look for him then; now they do. She gets the feeling family means everything to Marshall. He says, then he and Marshall have that in common, because she and Trina are family too. Trina’s not his daughter, but he cares about her. He hopes Portia trusts that he’ll always do what’s best for both of them. She says she does, and he says, ethics and integrity mean a lot to both to them. Going forward, she’s never going to have to worry about that. He kisses her hand.

Nikolas tells Laura, there’s nothing more important to him than Ava and Spencer, and he believes his family will be intact when the dust settles. She says she admires his confidence and resolve. She just hopes he knows what he’s doing.

Spencer tells Trina, believe it or not, he misses going to Kelly’s. He used to feel useful there. He hated the job at first, but started to appreciate how feeling productive can improve his state of mind. She says, then go back, especially if he’s taking nights here. He says, Joss and Cameron won’t want him rehired, and she says, Joss maybe, but Joss is just protecting her, and she doesn’t mind. She gets how it would be important to him. He says, she always does, and she says, but not how Esme gets him, right? She’ll leave him a to-do list, so he can go home to his phony twisted witch who’s the love of his life. He says, Esme is anything but that, and Esme overhears just as she’s about to walk in.

Dante thanks the photographer for his statement, and he says, what about his memory card? The mother-in-law stole it from him, and Sasha attacked him when he asked for it back. Dante looks at his hand, and says, yeah, it looks real life threatening. Bandaging his hand, Amy holds back her laughter, and Dante asks if he wants to press charges. The photographer says, yeah, that’ll show her, and Dante says, that’s cool; that’s his right. But it’s also Miss Gilmore’s right to counter-sue for assault and harassment. The photographer says, forget it, and Dante says, that’s what he thought. Oh, since there will probably be an investigation about illegal vehicular pursuit, do him a favor, and don’t go anywhere. Amy hands him something, and he says, thanks – she leaves – for nothing. He takes out his phone and calls Smoltz. He says, Smoltz will want to hit the ATM with what he’s got that Smoltz is going to want.

Willow asks if Carly was with her mom, and Carly says, not at the time of the accident. Alexis says, before, at Whatchamacallit Point. Willow asks, why? when Harmony is wheeled past. Willow asks TJ if she can talk to her, but he says, no time. Her mom’s injuries are critical. He’ll give her news as soon as he has some. He tells the orderly that they have to get Harmony to the OR now. Sasha and Gladys come in, and Willow wonders, who could have done this to her mom?

Tomorrow, Brando asks Sasha why the photographer was chasing her; Willow says she’ll never forgive herself for pushing Harmony away; Trina says, someone made their choice, so deal with it; and Ava asks Nikolas, please tell her that he’s not letting Esme stay.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Shahs of Sunset

Destiney meets sister Cat for breakfast. In Destiney’s interview, she says Cat is everything to her. She’s strong, independent; a mother, sister, and father-like figure. They’re so close, and even did People’s Couch together. I loved that show! Destiney says she’s trying to get everything out of her head, and Cat thinks things should be brought down a notch. In her interview, Destiney says she doesn’t get the accusations that she planned the bullsh*t between Reza and Ali. She tells Cat, she isn’t getting respect from the people around her, and Cat says, then Destiney doesn’t need them walking with her on her journey. She asks how Destiney’s dating life is going, and Destiney says she went to Vegas, and was catching a vibe with Sara’s brother. They ended up making out. Um… I think it was more than that. She says she’s been dealing with Sara’s drama, and feels bullied. Cat asks if she cares about Sam, and Destiney says part of her is vibing with him, but it’s complicated. It’s driving her crazy. In her interview, she says no one is going to tell her who she can or can’t date. Cat says they have to live life like it’s their last day. She and Destiney high-five.

GG and Sara meet to visit a Reiki master. GG sees a dead bee, and tells Sara, an animal shaman told her that her spirit animal was a bee, and she wonders if it’s a sign. Reiki master Romeo says he’s going to go through her chakras to determine the trauma to her body and soul. In GG’s interview, she says she believes in different forms of healing energy, and hopes this will give her an answer as to why this happened (referring to her miscarriage). She tells Sara that the remaining embryo and placenta is stuck right now. They gave her injections of something to make it dissolve and go away, but that hasn’t happened. Sara says, it’s a lot. In her interview, GG says she’s been pregnant a few times. She’s put her body through so many things. Is this her karma for taking advantage of her body? She believes in walking energy, and that some people have the skill to gather and move energy, and locate where the body needs healing, giving their energy to you. Romeo has both of them close their eyes, and invite his energy in. Afterwards, GG lies down, and Romeo’s hands hover over her. He says her chakras are open. GG asks if she should pursue the things in her mind, or do they need to take a backseat? Romeo says he’s going to ask spirit real quick, and concentrates. He tells her, basically, there’s a lot of positivity in the next three months. In her interview, she says it will take three months for her to heal from the medications she’s been given. He says a shift is going to happen in that time, and GG says, it makes sense.

Reza calls Nema from the car, and Nema tells him, the more he talks to MJ, the more it makes sense that there’s no crazy ulterior motive. He suggests Reza sit and talk. Reza says Nema and Mike have drunk the Kool-Aid, and are being messy. In Mike’s interview, he says MJ was a pawn, and he wants to be done with this foolishness. Reza says, if they want to be friends with MJ, why don’t they crawl up her ass? Nema says, he just wants them to talk, but Reza doesn’t want to. He has a legal case against MJ’s husband, who vandalized his house. He doesn’t want to put himself in harm’s way with her criminally violent husband. In Reza’s interview, he says Nema is only worried about how it’s going to affect himself. He wants to be in the mix, and is just making it worse. He tells Nema, stay out of his business. He doesn’t need help. He hangs up while Nema is still talking.

Nema meets Shervin at a martial arts studio. In Nema’s interview, he says he studies Jiu-Jitsu. Persians don’t have a combat sport, and the only belt Shervin has is Gucci. Their defense system is lawyers and an American Express card. They go through some exercises, and then do a few rounds of what looks similar to wrestling, where Shervin gets the upper hand. In his interview, Nema says Shervin is able to disable and disarm him with his disgusting body hair and sweaty palms, bringing on Nema’s gag reflex. Shervin asks if Nema is really going with the gag reflex defense, and Nema tells him that he’s really gross. They sit down, and Nema says he likes this because it checks his ego. He spoke to Reza, and Reza made it a screaming match. In Nema’s interview, he says when Reza claims Nema is meddling from a place of self-interest, that says his marriage is falling apart, and he’s blaming everyone and anyone around. He tells Shervin, for Reza to risk their friendship shows a disassociation with himself. No matter how tough Reza pretends to be, he thinks Reza is hurt.

Mike brings flowers to his mom Sue. He, Sue, and dad Shawn sit down in front of the traditional tons of food for any and every occasion. Mike asks what they think of Paulina, and after a long pause, Sue says, she looks like a good girl. Mike says it’s the first time he’s dating a Persian girl, and the first time he’s dating a Jewish girl. Why don’t they look happy? In Mike’s interview, he says his parents don’t feel he’s capable of a long term relationship. We flash back to Mike’s failed marriage with Jessica. Sue tells him to take his time. When he hurts, all of them hurt, and they want to make sure he doesn’t do it again. She asks how the progress is with the project. Maybe Mike should sell the permits and plan, and get out; the land is worth a million. Mike says, why make two million when he can make five or six? In his interview, Mike says his mom feels that he’s in over his head with the project. Sue says, it’s going to be two years of hard work. Maybe he’s better off getting out. Shawn tells him to make someone an offer they can’t refuse.

MJ and Tommy go to see a therapist. In MJ’s interview, she says Tommy is normally funny and lighthearted, but now he’s heartbroken, thinking about how he almost lost her. We flash back to Tommy weeping over MJ’s near death experience. She says, they’ve come there to heal. There’s no reason for this bullsh*t in their lives. Dr. K’harja says she’ll start with Tommy, and asks why he’s there. He says he’s had a tough go of it since MJ had the baby. They couldn’t remove the placenta, and it was terrifying. MJ says she knows it has something to do with Tommy’s mother dying. He says he became an angry kid, and got in a lot of trouble. K’harja says the aftermath has the potential to dredge up old stuff again. She brings MJ into the conversation, and in her interview, MJ hopes Tommy will be back to his old self in short order. She wants solutions, and wants to know what they need to be for each other. K’harja asks what MJ’s experience is, and MJ says, having a baby is stressful, but this is another level. K’harja says it’s critical that Tommy get support for his PTSD. MJ says as soon as she woke up, she started making jokes. Culturally, they’re supposed to be strong and move on. In her interview, she says she and Tommy couldn’t be more different. If they don’t have the tools to heal each other, it could poison their marriage past the point of no return. K’harja says, sadness turns to anger if it sits too long. In trying to communicate and support each other, Tommy needs to say he just wants her to listen or he needs a minute. In MJ’s interview, she says she loves Tommy with all her heart, and he deserves to feel that, even if she’s not saying it in the moment.

Reza takes Adam along to buy a car for his mom. Adam says, what if she doesn’t love it? but Reza says he bought her the last car, and she loved it. In his interview, he says his dad left his mom broken, and she did everything she could to give her children the best life. She made so many sacrifices, a car is literally the least he could do for her. He used to car shop with Mike. We flash back to Mike and Reza at a dealership, and Reza telling Mike to act like he doesn’t have money. With the bullsh*t in Arizona, and Mike going to Vida’s retirement party, he’s blocked Mike and Shervin on his on phone, Twitter, and Instagram. Nothing good can come from them trying to fix things.

Mike goes to the development project, and in his interview, he says, it’s hard. He’d love to have his best friend there to help, like when they were building his house. Unfortunately, Reza is mad that Mike’s not siding with him enough, and he doesn’t hate MJ enough on Reza’s Richter scale of hatred.

Reza sees a car coming in on a truck. The kind of truck I hate to be near on the highway, because I’m always afraid one is going to come loose and fall off. He asks how much it is, and the dealer says, $40K. Reza says he wants that one.

Mike meets with real estate broker Jordan. In his interview, Mike says his mom is strongly urging him to sell, but he doesn’t like playing it safe. Jordan tells him the property is worth $2-2.5 million, and in Mike’s interview, he says it’s not worth enough to sell, but now he has to get his mom off his back, and develop it. He thinks it will be worth $10-15 million when he’s done. There are a lot of naysayers and doubters, like Reza, but the reality is, he’s doing it. Jordan asks if he knows what he’s getting into, and Mike says he’s going to fake it until he makes it.

GG is in the ER. She asks Fatima if everything went okay, and Fatima says, everything is good. In GG’s interview, she says she was in a lot of pain on her way home. She went to the hospital, and they did surgery, taking both of her fallopian tubes. She can never get pregnant the natural way. She asks if she’ll be okay, and Fatima says she will. GG is glad it’s over. In her interview, she says she’s been pregnant too many times by accident. To never be able to get pregnant again is karma, and what she deserves for the life she’s led for so many years. She asks if she peed on herself during surgery, and Fatima laughs.

In the car, Shervin tells Mike, the weather is weird, and everyone is bipolar. GG texted him, asking how much she needed to pay him to keep her name out of his mouth. Mike says, GG had complications with a pregnancy, and explains GG had an ectopic pregnancy, and they had to remove her fallopian tubes, but she’s going to try again. He doesn’t understand how she can, and in his interview, Mike describes IVF as a sperm and an egg being put in the vagina, since he apparently doesn’t know exactly where babies are formed, and that you don’t necessarily need fallopian tubes. Shervin tells him, the uterus doesn’t go backward.

GG smokes some weed. The doorbell rings, and it’s Nema. GG says she’s in a lot of pain, so Nema answers the door when Destiney arrives. She tells GG that she knows eventually GG will be okay, and she’ll allow herself to heal, and be in the moment. In GG’s interview, she says, it’s the new her. She’s not angry with world for everything that happens to her anymore. Destiney is wearing a sexy nurse outfit, and GG says she must have died and gone to heaven. Destiney says she’s Nurse Rose, and has brought goodies. She gives GG a fancy domino mask, a feather boa, and prunes, just in case. GG says she went all out.

Mike tells Shervin, everyone was on the text, and Shervin wonders if Reza will show. In Shervin’s interview, he says they went to Vida’s party, and because they chose to be supportive of her retirement, Reza threw a tantrum, took his toys, and left the sandbox. He doesn’t want to play now. Reza talks to other people who have said and done as much, and says they’re friends. He tells Mike, he doesn’t like that Reza made them choose a side, and doesn’t give a f*** what happened. If you don’t stop something like that in its tracks, it continues, catches speed, and there’s no stopping it. In Mike’s interview, he says, Reza has known them both for years, and has hurt him in many ways, but he’s learned to forgive. Shervin says, all the weight of the tension is falling on them, and Mike says they need to learn to forgive each other.

Tommy takes out a new seat, and MJ tells him to clean up the mess, since Polina is coming over. In Tommy’s interview, he says Polina was a friend from many years back, and she’s a sharp-tongued hard-nosed lawyer, who takes no bullsh*t. He tells MJ, that he’s shocked there’s no spread of food to give Polina, since it’s the Persian way. MJ wonders if she can give Polina a diaper, but quickly makes a chartcuterie board. In her interview, she says Tommy has two cases to deal with; one civil, and one criminal. Because Reza called the cops, he’s been charged with vandalism, which is criminal. Reza also filed a restraining order, which is a civil case. The fact that Tommy has to retain an attorney is ridiculous. She says she didn’t sue when Reza damaged her sofa while he was painting her condo. Because that’s so much the same thing.

The Shahs, minus MJ, gather at GG’s place. I wonder where the damn food is. In GG’s interview, she says she wants her friends to know what happened. She hopes they wake up and realize the issue with MJ is minute, compared to bigger issues, like what she went through. She explains that she was pregnant, and it was an ectopic pregnancy. Only 1% of IVF patients have that happen. Everyone is in shock, and she says she got injections to make it dissolve, and her pain was really bad. It can kill a person, so they went in and removed both of her fallopian tubes. Now she can never get pregnant naturally. It is what it is. Everyone gets teary, and she says, it happened so fast, before she was able to… She starts to cry, and says, before she could appreciate being pregnant, she lost part of her reproductive system. That’s what made her realize a lot of this needs to stop between them. She believes it’s karma. Shervin is closest to her, and when she was going in to surgery, she expected to see him. He says he’s sorry, and wishes he’d been there. She says, everybody is going through sh*t, and she wants someone to do something at this point.

Nema says Reza’s comments about him sharing the dynamic affected him massively, and Mike says Reza blocked him because he didn’t chose a side. Reza says there was no compassion and insight to how he was feeling, and Mike was looking at it from the opposite angel. Mike says, you’re either with MJ or Reza, and Nema says he’s invested in them both, and wanted to see two friends come together. If he overstepped, he apologizes. Reza says, it made things ten times worse, and made him angrier. He had to take a moment. The intentions are pure, but he can’t talk right now. He could get in a better place with MJ if he wasn’t hearing the noise. He was in a dark place, and none of them knew what he was going through. Mike says Reza is making it sound like no one has sympathy. MJ was crying, and saying she effed up, and Ali better tun if Mike sees him, but Mike didn’t do anything to Reza. Reza says he needed a hug, and to be understood, but was left in pain, while Mike kept harping on MJ being his friend for thirty years. GG tells them that they can’t talk over each other. They’re individuals who all need to be heard. Mike says he’s supported Reza throughout their entire friendship, and Reza has done the same.

In Mike’s interview, he says there have been so many times he was having trouble, and Reza told him what he needed to hear. We flash back to Reza telling Mike that he sucks at being a husband, and Mike says, now he’s done the same because of what he learned from Reza, and he’s the bad guy. Reza says he was talking emotionally, and trying to explain how isolated he felt. Mike says Reza insisted he was either with him or MJ. GG says they deal with things the same way every time; deal with it differently. Reza says he was never mad at them. He gets irrational when he feels like he’s under attack and hurt. He was very alone and isolated. He’s an accountable person, and said disgusting vial things because he was hurt. He could have done it differently, but he was stupid, and wants to apologize. He put everyone in the position that they had to choose between two people they care about, and he didn’t mean to.

Tommy asks Polina, what if Reza decides to drop the charges? and she says the restraining order is in Reza’s hands. MJ says, Reza needs to come to his senses, and Polina says, if he does, it will be thrown out, but the criminal charges are up to the judge. It could be either a misdemeanor or a felony, if it’s over $400 in damage. In MJ’s interview, she can’t believe over $400 is a felony. Polina says, it’s not as light an offense as they thought. Tommy says, it’s all bullsh*t, and asks what the worst case is. Polina says he could spend time in county jail. In her interview, MJ says, all this mess could have been avoided if Reza hadn’t called the cops over broken pottery. Oh, okay. I guess it couldn’t have been avoided if Tommy hadn’t broken the pottery in the first place. Tommy says he has to take responsibility, and in MJ’s interview, she says it’s a nine inch nail in their friendship and family. It’s over.

Mike says, dirty sh*t happened, and they all stepped outside of their norm. Shervin, Mike, and Reza have a three-way hug. In Reza’s interview, he says he feels better now. Clearly, he needs to apologize to MJ. Maybe they can form a new relationship and friendship from ground zero. Reza tells them, after the hug, he never needs to wear cologne again.

Next time, Destiney and GG get injectables, Reza and MJ meet, and GG needs an ambulance.

🤷🏻‍♀️ What’s a Weekend…?

There are never any days off for me, but I’m sure it’s weird for a lot of people when Saturday is just like Monday. Remember, this too shall pass. Everything in life is temporary, even life itself. Well, maybe not if you’re one of The Walking Dead. See you then, and in the meantime, stay safe out there.

October 20 – Waves Of Walkers, First Meeting & Get Dead

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

The Walking Dead

6 am – Hour 1 – A timer goes off. Carol wakes, and takes a pill.

Hour 2 – Carol goes out of the gate. Above the wall, Eugene watches through binoculars.

Hour 4 – The older kids practice killing zombies, and show off to each other.

Hour 6 – Everyone gets ready for… something.

Hour 11 – Aaron is attacked by a zombie, but manages to pike it in the head.

Hour 13 – Eugene beckons to Aaron, who looks through Eugene’s binoculars. Eugene says, they keep coming, constantly. Wave after wave. Carol says, it’s her, and Michonne tells them, lock it down.

Hour 14 – Zombies continue to come. They stream in throughout hour 19, hour 22, hour 24, and hour 31. The Alexandrians continue to fight.

Hour 37 – There are lots of bodies. Gabriel rests. Michonne wonders, wtf? Judith sits by the window in Michonne’s bedroom, and says, well? Michonne says, well what? and Judith asks, is it safe? The radio crackles, and Aaron asks if Michonne copies.

Hour 48 – Michonne looks through the binoculars. More zombies are coming. She goes up into a windmill to get a better look through the window.

Michonne asks Eugene, how long until the next wave? He says, one hour from the north, and two from the south. Coming from the north, they’re thicker then fleas on a farm dog. Not so much from the south. He estimates they’ll be fighting through night again. Michonne snaps at Daryl, then apologizes. Eugene maintains his post. Daryl says, heads up, and he and Michonne meet Gamma at the gate. She says, north border, now. Michonne tells her to call off the walkers, but she says, it’s not them. Go to the north border, lay down their weapons, and  wait. Daryl asks, for what? Gamma says, her.

The Alexandrians have a meeting. Michonne tells Lydia, this is her mother, but Lydia doesn’t think so. Michonne asks, why? and Lydia says they crossed into Alpha’s land again, and they have to answer to that. Aaron says, they don’t have to do anything. They should just not go, but Lydia thinks that’s a bad idea. Aaron says, they’re already being attacked, but Lydia says if Alpha wanted them dead, she’d send a horde, not waves. Aaron thinks they’re being worn down. Eugene says he has every reason to believe the satellite and fire… but a woman cuts him off, saying she doesn’t want to hear anymore. They’re friends died trying to save the Alexandrians, and ended up with their heads on pikes. The Highwaymen want justice. All she wants to hear, is that they’re taking the lead bitch’s head off. She thinks they should put the Whisperers head’s on pikes. There’s a lot of mumbling, and Michonne gets up. She asks how many walkers have they seen in Alpha’s horde, and Daryl says, tens of thousands. Michonne asks what plan the Highwaymen have for taking them out. She gets silence, and says, that’s not a rhetorical question. The woman says they don’t have one, and Michonne says, does anybody else? Once again, it’s quiet, and she says, if Alpha sends the horde, that’s it. Right now, all she wants to do is talk, and they’re going to listen. Here, they’re going to focus on what’s coming from the north and the south. They’re tired and on edge, and it’s going to get worse before it gets better, but they’re not getting through it at all if they don’t act as one.

Michonne lays out a plan, with Aaron leading the fighting in the north, and Gabriel in the south. She and Daryl will be going to the border. Carol says, they’re going alone? and Daryl says they have no choice. Carol gets a gun from under her bed, and takes more pills.

Aaron tells Gabriel, they’re good, but Gabriel says Aaron is low on soldiers, fatigued, and Negan is on clean-up duty. Aaron balks, and Negan says, if it’s all the same, he’d like to stay there, picking tomatoes, and burying corpses. He tells Gabriel, look around him. People are amped, and pissed. and stirring up sh*t with each other. He doesn’t want the hateful vibes taken out on him. Gabriel says, Aaron is a saint. Gabriel tells Aaron, Negan can fight, and he’s low on fighters. PB meet J. End of discussion. He walks away, and Negan notices the spiked mace Aaron has in place of a hand. He says, it’s awesome that Aaron is putting the old stump to use.

Michonne heads for the border with Daryl, Carol, and a few others.

Aaron and Negan kill zombies outside the walls. Negan – who only got a less-than-pokey stick to fight with – picks up tire iron, and Aaron says, drop it. Negan says, God left it there for a reason. His broomstick ain’t cutting it. Aaron stares at Negan, and he puts it down. Negan says he’s trying to make things better. He’s not that guy anymore. A few zombies are headed their way, and Negan gives Aaron a thumbs up, and says he’s on it.

The group walks to the border to meet Alpha. It’s dark and quiet. They put down their weapons, and stare at the posts the heads were on. Daryl asks Carol if she’s all right. She says she needs a minute. She puts down her bow and arrow, but the gun is in the back of her waistband.

At Alexandria, Rosita and Eugene team up, killing zombies at the gates. Eugen thinks the killing could go on all night. Rosita says, he wants to go back, doesn’t he? He says, yeah, but they keep going.

Daryl says, heads up, and they see the Whisperers walking toward them in the distance. The Whisperers stop, and Alpha removes her mask. She says they had one rule between their people; one law. Stay where you are. They disobeyed it. Daryl says the fire would have destroyed the Whisperers’ land, but Alpha says fire is part of nature. They have no conflict with nature. Michonne says it could have wiped out their communities. They couldn’t sit back and let it happen. They crossed once. Alpha says, three times. During the fire, they walked her land. During the winter storm, they walked her land. And when they searched the river, you – she points to Carol – and the man with the metal arm walked her land. That’s three times. They’re always watching. What did she tell them about crossing her borders? They have to be punished. The Whisperers draw their guns, and Carol starts to reach for hers, when Alpha says, but she’ll consider the context. There will be no bloodshed this time. Michonne asks what they want, and Alpha says, land. The creek is their new southern border mark. Carol says that cuts off their hunting ground. They don’t have to stand for their… Michonne cuts her off with, Carol! Alpha asks, their what? and Carol says, bullsh*t. Daryl says they’re done. Let’s go. Alpha says, they’re not. This one – again pointing to Carol – rolled her eyes to Alpha’s face. Carol faces Alpha, who says she should be afraid. Carol says she looks at Alpha, and feels nothing at all. Alpha says Carol’s boy called her name before they took his head. Carol whips out her gun, and shoots, but Daryl pushes her arm down, so she misses Alpha. He holds Carol back, and Michonne apologizes for her friend. She says, they haven’t slept, and Alpha knows what Carol lost. Alpha says she forgives Carol, mother to mother. This is her land now. Better run. Daryl says, let’s go, and pushes Carol in the other direction. Alpha smiles.

In the woods, they rest a moment. Carol tells Michonne, the bitch has to die. She walks away, and Daryl approaches Michonne. Michonne says Carol’s not the same since she got off the boat. Daryl thinks Carol is better off on it, but Michonne says she belongs with them. Daryl says Carol’s not sleeping, and she’s out all night. Carol sees a few Whisperers streaking through the woods, and shoots at them. Daryl asks, what happened? and she says, Whisperers; three of them. They decide to split up, and Michonne says, capture, don’t kill.

Aaron and Megan are still hard at work. Negan uses the tire iron on a zombie, and scratches at a rash on his arm. Aaron asks, what did he say? indicating the tire iron, and Negan says he had to. Aaron says he’s going to tie Negan up, and take him back. Negan says that’s the best freaking news he’s heard all day, but he’s not being tied up like a POW. Aaron says, yes, he is, and Negan says, or what, cowboy? Aaron takes out a knife, and Negan says, you know what he sees? Someone pretending. He tells Aaron, let’s go, and starts to walk past him. Aaron knocks him down, and Negan says, did Aaron just trip him? What is he, twelve? I laugh. I love Negan. Negan asks, what is wrong? He put his neck on the block for them all day. Aaron says, Negan doesn’t give a damn about them. If he did, he’d leave. That’s what everyone needs. Negan says he did what he had to back then. Aaron tells him, open that up. Tell him why the love of his life had to die. Negan says, okay. One simple fact. One truth. If you don’t protect what belongs to you, sooner or later, it belongs to someone else. That goes for your land, your wallet, your home, your country, everything. It’s your job as a man to protect it. That’s the story of America; of the whole goddam world. Nothing can change it. Not him; not nobody. Aaron asks if Negan is saying Eric’s death was his fault. If he’s saying Aaron killed Eric, then Negan killed his wife. Negan says, careful, and Aaron says, she died hating him, and he’s never seeing her again. He asks if Negan wants to say something, and Negan says, yeah; he does. Another group of zombies comes toward them, and one gets Aaron down. Aaron stabs it, and his vison is suddenly blurry. He calls to Negan, who jets.

Michonne tells the others to meet back at the creek. She tells Carol, there are no signs. no traces, no tracks, nothing. Is she sure she saw three? Carol says she’s sure. Carol shakes out another pill, and Michonne asks how long she’s been taking them. Carol says since she got back. She’s fine; they’re like coffee. Michonne says they can’t stay out there, and Daryl suggests they hole up for a while, and get some sleep

They walk into Barnett Academy. They shine a flashlight into the broken windows, and I wonder where they get batteries, since they never last very long in my flashlight. They walk in, and quietly look around. Daryl says, it’s clear. Carol steps on a book in the hallway, and picks it up. It’s a book on economics, Working in the Home. She stares at the picture of the family on the cover. Daryl tells her, come on. She looks at it again, and tosses it down. They go to the cafeteria, and Daryl says he’ll take first watch. Carol takes more pills, and Daryl notices.

Aaron stumbles around, looking for Negan. He goes into a cabin, and crashes around inside, being loud and reckless. Negan is there, sitting on the floor, but says nothing.

Daryl sits on the floor across from Carol, and she asks what he’s thinking. He says, about his dad. He was a trucker, and would tell them crazy stories about his trips. One time, he was flying down the highway in Kentucky. It was pitch black out, and he saw a girl on the side of the road. She looked like she was crying. As he got closer, she stepped out in front of the truck, and he slammed on his breaks. He called the local PD, and got out to look for her, but she wasn’t there. He looked under the cab, and there was nothing there or under the tires. There was no blood on the grill. Carol asks how that was possible, and Daryl says, there was no girl. His dad didn’t sleep much, and would sometimes stay up 24-hours to make one of his runs. Stay up all the time, you start seeing things. Carol says she’s not a snorting truck driver. She’s not his dad. She says, sorry, and he says, she’s right. That doesn’t mean he’s wrong though. Her alarm goes off, and he says, don’t take it. She needs to sleep. She says she can’t, and he asks, why? Bad dreams? She doesn’t answer.

Aaron keeps crashing around the house. Zombies come toward it because he’s making so much damn noise, and inadvertently flashed the lights. He ends up letting them in, and Negan kills them. The tire iron drips blood. Aaron says, Negan? Negan asks if Aaron is all right. Aaron says he can’t see, and Negan explains what was on the walkers was hog weed. It’s nasty sh*t, and causes rashes and blindness. (I learn on Talking Dead that hog weed is an invasive species that kills all plant life around it.) Aaron asks if it’s permanent, and Negan says, sometimes. He asks if Aaron washed his eyes out with water. He says he did, but his water is gone, and he’s parched. Negan gives Aaron some water to drink, and helps him up. He starts to go, and Aaron says, wait. Where’s he going? Negan says, to keep watch. They’ll leave first thing in the morning. If that’s okay with Aaron. Aaron says, yeah.

Carol wanders around the school. She sees a broken pane of glass with blood on it, and follows a trail of blood to a woman sitting on the floor with her head bowed down, looking like something from out of The Grudge. She hears Henry say, mom, and he’s standing behind her for a moment. Daryl’s light startles her, and Daryl asks where she went. She’s been gone a half hour. She says she was on patrol. She’s fine. She’s not his dad seeing ghosts. Daryl says, what? and she says the story about the girl, and his dad, the truck driver. He says, his dad’s not a truck driver. Carol’s timer goes off, and she takes a pill. He says, come on, don’t take that, but she does, saying, one more hour, and Daryl says, all right, and leaves her. She checks her gun, and I worry she’s going to end up shooting the wrong person or wasting the bullets. She sees a shadow, and follows it to the gymnasium. She sees a Whisperer coming toward her, and walks over the broken glass that’s everywhere, right into a snare trap. She’s suddenly hanging upside down, and shoots at the Whisperer. She begins slashing at them, and shoots again. She sees a pack of zombies and/or Whisperers coming toward her, and yells for Daryl to help her. She manages to cut herself loose, and falls to the ground. She stabs the zombies. An alarm goes off. She’s standing there with bodies all around her. Daryl and Michonne come in.

Back at Alexandria, Daryl tells Siddiq that Carol fell and cut her arm real bad. Siddiq needs them to leave. He tells Dante to pull the shard out, and he’ll go in. Siddiq remembers the Whisperers, and Alpha with a knife. Dante says Siddiq plans on going in? and Siddiq says he’ll be fine. Dante says he’s not, and takes the instrument out of Siddiq’s hand.

Michonne and Daryl are outside, and Siddiq tells them, Dante got it out. She’s all patched up. Daryl says, great, and Michonne pats Siddiq’s arm. They go back in.

Negan looks out the window. Aaron wakes up. Negan asks if Aaron can see him. Aaron nods, and says, yeah. Negan says, good

Finished for now, Rosita and Eugene sit down inside. Rosita says she’s tired, and Eugene says she was a badass today. She says he didn’t do too badly himself, and he asks if he was as tough as a stewed skunk. She says, a batsh*t badger. He asks about Coco, and she says the baby is with Barbara. He says Coco can’t be without her mama, so he went with her today to protect her. Rosita says she taught him how to fight. She says they’re never going to happen. He’s not Coco’s father, and they’re not together. She needs him to hear that. She says, sorry it was harsh. She’s tired, and she feels drunk. Eugene asks if she’s familiar with the expression, a drunk mind speaks a sober heart. When you’re under the influence, the secret truth pours out, and it’s similar to when you’re tired. When she says it’s not going to happen, it’s the unfiltered truth. She says she’s been trying tell him that, but he didn’t listen. He says he thought someday, they’d have something special, but there’s nothing; there never was. She asks if he thinks their friendship is nothing; his unfiltered truth? He says he’s in the midst of experiencing a moment of crushing clarity. Their friendship was premised on the mistaken belief that she’d change her mind, and rezone him to love town. What kind of friend is that? He says he’s sorry, and leaves.

Siddiq sits outside. Eugene looks at him, and keeps walking. Michonne says, still awake? and Siddiq says they’re both awake. She asks how he’s  holding up, and he says he should be asking her. She says, as a mother, no sleep is her baseline reality. He says he’s a father, and he’s tired. She asks if she’ll see him later, and he says they’ll be good as new. She tells him, speak for his damn self. She leaves, and Dante comes out with some moonshine. Siddiq shakes his head, and says he has to sleep. Dante says that’s why he brought it. Siddiq says, cheers, and they clink mason jars. They each take a sip, and Dante says, you go in one person, and come out different. When he was in Iraq, there was one guy everyone knew; cocky, broad-shouldered. The dude the never broke. Until he did. He came back from the war broke, with the shakes, and thousand-mile stares. Siddiq asks, what happened to him? and Dante says, you’re looking at him.

Carol sleeps, and music plays. She wakes up, and goes downstairs. Daryl is cooking. She says they need jam, and he says, there’s probably some at the store. He hands her some money, and she asks if he’s sure they’re open. Henry sits at the dining table, and asks where she’s going. She wakes, and looks at the empty pill bottle. She goes downstairs, and Michonne asks, how is it? Carol says, it hurts. She says she did see the Whisperers. Michonne says she’s the only one who did, and there were seven of them out there. Carol says she did see them, and Michonne says, only she did.

Michonne sees Judith by the window, and Judith asks if it’s safe. Michonne says, for now. They get on either side of RJ in the bed.

Carol goes out on the patio, and sees Daryl. She says, Michonne doesn’t believe her. Does he? Daryl says, yeah, but I don’t think he sounds convincing, and neither does Carol.

We see the blood bath in the gym, and follow it outside where the Whisperer that Carol shot lies on the ground. She opens her eyes.

Next time, the people are restless, and want to silence the Whisperers; Earl says they’re already at war; and the battle continues.
