What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Lois sees Eddie/Ned in the nook and says, there he is. She’s been looking all over for him. Looks like he’s avoiding her. He asks why he’d avoid her, and she says she understands the situation. In front of Olivia, who happens to be one of her best friends in the whole world, he has to pretend so he can spare her feelings. He asks what she means, and she says, they’re alone now. Come on. When he first walked in and saw her, the look on his face was undeniable. He may not remember Olivia, but he remembers her. He tells her, like he said, she looks very familiar, and she says, that’s what he needs to say in front of the family he forgot. There’s no way he could forget the times they had. We flash back to when we were all in diapers, and Lois pushed Eddie to sing. She says, he was amazing. He took her breath away. We flash back to their romance and getting married. Then Lois finding out he’s really Ned, and him telling her that he loves her and needs her in a way he’s never needed anyone. We see her during her pregnancy and subsequently leaving him. She says, come on. Their wedding, Coney Island… She can see it in his eyes; he remembers her. He says, that’s not what she’s seeing in his eyes. She looks familiar, but he really doesn’t remember her or their wedding. He was married to Olivia, and he doesn’t remember her. He’s got this great daughter – Chase and Brook approach the doorway – and he doesn’t remember her either. Chase and Brook walk in.

On the phone, Tracy asks Finn where he is. It’s backgammon night; he’s late. Gregory walks in and says, no, he’s not. Finn’s not coming. She says, he came all this way to tell her that? but he says, no. He came to settle a score.

Josslyn goes into the station with Pilar and Avery, and asks Pilar to wait with Avery. She goes to the desk and asks the sergeant if she can speak with Detective Falconari. It’s a matter of life and death.

Dex goes into the basement where Ava was being kept, and through his headset, Spinelli asks if he found her.

Carly visits Drew and asks how he’s feeling. He says, better now that she’s here, and she asks what the doctors say. He tells her that they say he’s recovered enough to go back to prison.

At the hospital, Cyrus sees Austin, who asks what he’s doing here. Cyrus says he’s happy to see Austin again too. They have some unfinished business.

On the phone with Olivia in the interrogation room, Dante says he will when he gets a chance. He he’s got to go…  Because he’s at work. There’s a knock at the door, and the desk sergeant is there with Josslyn. He says, sorry to bother Dante, but she said it was urgent. Josslyn says, it is, and Dante asks her, what is it? The sergeant leaves, and she says, Ava’s in trouble. Dante sees Pilar is there with Avery.

Spinelli says, anything? and Dex says, damn. There’s no one here. The basement is empty. No sign of Ava.

Mason stops his car in a wooded area, and in the backseat, Ava says, he doesn’t have to do this. He says, oh, but he does.

Closing the door, Dante says, so Ava never picked up Avery? and Josslyn says, no, and Pilar hasn’t been in contact with Ava. He asks if Sonny knows, and she says, no. Pilar knew he was marrying Nina in Puerto Rico. She didn’t want to contact Carly because she’s dealing with Drew in the hospital. Josslyn went to Windymere and talked to Ava’s butler. He hasn’t seen her since night before last, but yesterday morning, he found a broken martini glass on the living room floor. She found Ava’s cellphone and this. She shows him the lollypop and says, this isn’t Avery’s; she hates grape. She asked Avery, and it’s not hers. He says, so she thinks whoever dropped it is with Ava?

Dex asks if Spinelli is sure this is the final location with ties to Pautuck Trucking, and Spinelli says, affirmative. Dex has already searched the other seven. It’s a reasonable assumption, given his connection to the trucking company, that Mason would have taken Miss Jerome to one of these locations. Dex asks if Spinelli checked to see if Mason has any properties only in his name, but Spinelli says he went through all the financials available related to Mr. Gatlin; any purchases, credit cards, addresses. Everything points to him only using these properties. Dex looks up at the window and says, this may be nothing, but… He moves one of the boxes and finds a piece of material on the floor. He says, Ava was here, and Spinelli asks if he’s certain. Dex says, yes. Maybe Mason was alerted to him checking the other locations and he moved her. Spinelli says, seems like a logical conclusion, and Dex says he needs Spinelli to check the traffic around Pautuck and the surrounding highways. Spinelli says, already on it, and Dex says, maybe Mason’s using the same vehicle and they got lucky.

Ava says she knows this wasn’t Mason’s idea, and he asks, why? Is he so dumb that he can’t have one? She says, no. Because she doesn’t think he’d hurt her. She doesn’t think he’d hurt anybody. She thinks he’s following orders. She understands whoever he’s working for must be very powerful, but this is one order she thinks he should disobey. Because if he goes through with this, and Sonny finds out Mason was part of her disappearance – and believe her, he’ll find out – he’s going to be the one that pays, and she thinks he knows what that means. It’s his only chance to let her go. He says, she thinks so? and she says, yeah. She’ll cover for him. He says, she’d do that for him? and she says, of course (🍷) she would. She’ll make up some excuse for why she was gone, and Sonny will buy it. She’s gotten things over on him in the past. He says, that’s a really good offer, except she already told him that Sonny would figure out what he did because Sonny’s so damn smart. But she wants him to believe she could fool him. She says she can and he laughs. She says she can do it; she can. Right now, she hasn’t been gone long enough for anyone to even be suspicious, but if she’s gone much longer, if something should happen to her, Sonny will find out what Mason did, but if he brings her home right now, she’ll protect him. He says she’s full of it. He’s not going to let her go. They’re going to sit here quietly wait for orders.

Austin asks what Cyrus wants, and Cyrus says he wanted to thank Austin for testifying on his behalf at the hearing. As Austin can see, with his critical input, the judge determined he wasn’t medically fit to stay in Pentenville and finish his sentence. Austin says, because he’s such a feeble man, and Cyrus says, complete freedom invigorates a man. Austin says, Cyrus is a master of miracles. Why doesn’t he pull another one out of his hat and let Ava go? Cyrus asks when Austin became so cynical, and Austin says, the deal was that he would testify on Cyrus’s behalf and Cyrus would release Ava. Now live up to the end of his bargain and tell Mason to let Ava go.

Carly asks when Drew has to go back to Pentenville, but he says he’s not exactly sure. Carly says, well, that’s wrong. His doctor is being overly optimistic about his condition. She’s going to talk to the doctor and make him understand it’s way too soon to send Drew back to Pentenville. She heads for the door, and Drew says he doesn’t want her to ask the doctor to lie or exaggerate to keep him here longer. The doctor saved his life; he did his job. She says, saving Drew’s life could be a waste of time. Because if he sends Drew back to Pentenville, the people who almost killed him are going to try to finish the job.

Brook says she wanted to introduce Eddie and her mother to Chase, and Chase shakes Lois’s hand, saying, it’s nice to meet her. She tells him that he’s as gorgeous as everyone says, and please call her Lois. He thanks her, and she says she was practically a baby when she had… Brook says, ma! and Lois says, what? She’s just being honest with the man who’s making their daughter so happy. Brook wasn’t lying to her when Brook told her that, right? Brook says, of course (🍷) not. Chase is the best. Lois says, and that’s exactly what their daughter deserves. Isn’t that right, Ned… Eddie? Eddie/Ned says, what? and she says, pay attention. Seeing these two together, it feels so right. And Chase should feel honored, because her daughter doesn’t settle for anyone. Brook says, ma! and Lois says, what? She’s just saying. Brook always goes where her heart leads her, and her heart led her to Chase. Eddie asks if it was Lois’s heart that led her to him.

Tracy says, all right, let her have it, and Gregory says, thank you. She says, what? and he says, she did something that had to be done. He kept putting it off and he shouldn’t have. She says, he’s not angry? and he says, damn straight he’s angry. At her, at himself for not telling Chase, and his diagnosis. But if his illness is telling him anything, it’s that anger is a waste of time.

Tracy laughs, and Gregory says, what’s so funny? She says, sorry. She’s not laughing at him; she’s laughing at herself. She was so convinced he was going to be furious with her for telling Chase about his ALS, for which she is so sorry. But instead, here he is waxing philosophical about anger and time. He says he was hardly waxing, and he does understand the irony, but he fails to see the humor. She says she guesses she finds it funny that he thinks anger’s a waste of time, and he says, it is. She says, for her, she finds anger a powerful motivator. In fact, she considers her ability to channel anger to action an asset. He says, figures she would.

Lois says she and Eddie have a complicated romantic history. That would have been good for him to forget. He says he’d still like to hear it, but she says, some other time. Chase and his better half don’t want to sit around and listen to her yammer on about their past. Chase says he’d like to hear it, and Lois says, really? He says, absolutely, and Lois says, all right. Don’t say she didn’t warn them. She says, come on, and taps on the table, indicating they should sit. She says she guesses it all started when her heart led her to a man who didn’t exist.

Drew tells Carly that he’s going to be fine. Don’t worry. She says, how can he ask her not to worry about him? and he says he’s in Pentenville for his own actions, for his own decisions. She says he’s being his noble self and she loves him for it. It’s something she absolutely loves about him, but it doesn’t cost that doctor a damn thing to keep him here, to keep him safe. It’s not like he’s risking his medical license; he’s protecting Drew’s life, a life that he saved. Drew says he loves her for trying to rationalize it, but she’s got to let him deal with his own situation. She says, it’s not his own situation. It’s her situation too.

Ava says, Mason doesn’t have to take orders from anybody, and Mason tells her to shut up. He knows exactly what she thinks he is. He’s known ever since that fancy Quartermaine barbecue. She walked in and saw him threatening Austin and she saw the knife in his hand. It turned her on a little; he could see it in her eyes. Then she heard him talk and saw he had a little dirt under his fingernails and said to herself, hey, he’s white trash. He wasn’t worth her breath. It wasn’t until he learned she murdered her husband that he got her attention. Then he saw how phony she was. But he saw how his smartass cousin got her attention. He’s a high and mighty doctor, so she just jumped right in the sack with him. It must be disappointing. She could have had her chance to be with him, a real man, but she made a mistake, and now she’s never going to get that chance again. So she’s going to sit there and she’s going to shut up.

Pilar and Avery are in the interrogation room. Dante seats Avery at the head of the table and tells her that she’s going to sit in the important person’s chair. Avery asks if he knows where her mommy is, and he says, that’s what they’re going to figure out. He knows it’s late, but he wants her to stay there with her sister and Pilar. She says, okay, and Josslyn thanks him. He says, of course (🍷) and goes out to the squad room. He tells the desk sergeant, whatever they need, and leaves.

Cyrus tells Austin, as he said, he’s grateful for Austin’s help, and he trusts with the Lord’s guidance, everyone will be safe. Austin says, stop. He promises Ava’s not a threat to Cyrus. She has no idea he and Mason work for him. Austin’s phone trills, and Cyrus says, it sounds as if Austin’s patients need him. God speed. Austin leaves, and Cyrus calls Mason.

Pacing outside the car, Mason says, yeah? Cyrus asks if he has the passenger, and Mason says he does. Cyrus says, take her home, and Mason says he doesn’t get that. Cyrus says, the situation has been resolved to his satisfaction. Take. Her. Home. Mason hangs up and looks at Ava through the car window.

Lois says, keep in mind, she was young, practically a baby, like she told them earlier. And she was naïve. She became completely infatuated with Eddie Maine, who she thought was living a double life. Pharmaceutical salesman by day, rocker by night. Chase says, that’s quite a combination, and Lois says, tell her about it. Little did she know, he was actually Ned Ashton, who was planning on marrying another woman at that time. And get this, he actually married that woman while he was married to her. Eddie says, Olivia, but Lois says, not Livvy, that came later. Brook says, she could sell this story to 20/20, and Lois says she tried; they didn’t believe her. She asks Eddie if any of this rings a bell, because she swears it’s the God’s honest truth, but he says, no. Just so she knows, he is not living a double life now. He is himself, Eddie Maine, musician. If what she’s saying really happened… She asks if he’s calling her a liar, but he says, no. He just wants to apologize on behalf of the man he was back then and the way he treated her.

Tracy asks Gregory how Chase is handling it. Wait a minute. How is he? She asks him to sit, and he says he’s getting weaker. His hands are cramping and twitching a lot more; he drops things. He really misses being able to drive himself, but he had to give that up a while back, so he didn’t pose a danger to anyone else. And he’s probably going to have to start using a cane sometime soon because his balance is going in and out. Otherwise, he’s great. How about her? She says, how about a drink? He says, sounds good, and she says, scotch okay? He says, perfect, and as she makes the drinks, she says she’s very relieved he came by. You know how it is when you make a mistake, and you dread the consequences? He says, that’s how he felt with Chase, but she says, no. He may not have handled the situation perfectly, not telling Chase when he told Finn, but there were mitigating circumstances. She on the other hand, shoved her foot right in her mouth and blurted out something that was not hers to say. He says, clearly there was no malice intended, and they clink glasses. She says, clearly, because if there is, he’d know it. He says he’s sure, and she says, why did Finn bail on her by the way? He says, Violet has a cold, and she says she’s sorry to hear that. He says he could fill in for Finn, and she says, that’s nice. She thanks him, but Finn understands her competitive nature. He says, her, competitive? and she says, shocking, she knows. He says, who does she think taught Finn everything he knows about backgammon? and she says, in that case, let’s roll. I went through a backgammon phase, so I kind of get it.

Carly says she’s the one who acted on inside information, and it’s her fault Drew is in this situation. He says, they’ve been over this, and she’s got to stop blaming herself. She says she’d love to blame someone else, but he says, they don’t have much time left. Let’s not go over this. He knows she didn’t mean for any of this to happen. She says, but it happened, and he almost died because those inmates attacked him, and now they want to send him right back to them. He says, it’s not the doctor’s fault he’s in prison. Whoever turned them into the SEC knew that the Feds would twist what they did and make them look guilty (um… they are). She says, but it’s not them; it’s him. He’s the one taking the fall. He says, his choice, when there’s a knock at the door. Cyrus walks in, and Carly says, what the hell?

Pilar leaves to call her mother, and Josslyn says she heard Avery’s dad and Nina got married. Avery says, yeah, on daddy’s island, and Josslyn bets it was beautiful. Avery says, yeah. Donna got to go, but she didn’t. Josslyn says, Avery’s dad really wanted her to be there, and he was super disappointed about how things worked out, but she thinks when he and Nina get back, they’re going to arrange to take Avery somewhere super special. Avery says, she thinks? and Josslyn says she’ll make sure of it, hugging her. Avery says she hopes mommy can go too.

Mason gets back in the car, and Ava says, who was that on the phone? He’s about to start the car, and she asks where they’re going. What is he going to do? He says, to hell with the boss’s orders, and gets out of the car. He walks around to the passenger side and opens the backseat door. She asks what he’s doing, and he says, they’re going to do things his way. He reaches in, pulling her out, and she struggles with him.

Josslyn’s phone rings, and she asks Spinelli, what’s going on? He says he was hoping she could tell him. Has Dex been in touch with her? She says, no. She thought Spinelli was in touch with him and he was checking out those places in Pautuck. Spinelli says, he was, but now he’s not. He got a hit on Mason Gatlin’s vehicle out on County Road 21 and sent that information to Dex. She says, he’s following that maniac? and Spinelli says, yes. They had some contact in the beginning of Dex’s pursuit, but then he hit a dead zone… Sorry. Poor choice of words. She says, he has all of that fancy equipment. Use it and find Dex. He says he’s doing his best, but if she hears from Dex… She says she’ll let him know right away, and he says, copy that. Spinelli gets to work, and Josslyn calls Dante.

Mason tries to drag Ava away from the car toward a cliff, but she continues to struggle with him. They see headlights coming, and Dex comes out, aiming his gun. He tells Mason, let her go.

Lois says, that’s it? and Eddie says, that’s what? She says, what she just told him about what her Eddie put her through are just the tips of the iceberg. And he thinks I’m sorry covers that? He says he doesn’t know what else she expects him to say, and she says, her Eddie Maine was an alter-ego, but this Eddie Maine has conveniently forgotten all the schemes and schnookery that her Eddie Maine put her through. So she guesses her question with all of this is, how many Eddie Maines are in there? He says he knows she doesn’t want to hear it… and she says, of course (🍷) she doesn’t want to hear it. Because she lived it. Because even after all of that, she ended up marrying Ned Ashton Quartermaine, and they had a beautiful daughter, and they had some great memories. They were very much in love, and they were married for some time, and then they got divorced. But this Eddie Maine, he’s forgotten all of the terrible things her Eddie put her through. But this Eddie Maine has also forgotten all of the wonderful times they had. And he’s a poor man for that, and she pities him. He says, I don’t need your damn pity, lady, because I’m very happy just the way I am. He walks out, and Lois says she’s sorry. She apologizes to Chase and says she may have let that go a little too far, but Chase says, no. Now he knows where her daughter gets her spirit.

And I don’t know what schnookery is, but that’s a great word.

Cyrus says he’s sorry. He hopes he’s not interrupting. Carly asks what he’s doing out of prison, and he says he remembers she likes to get right to the heart of the matter, doesn’t she? He calls her Mrs. Corinthos, but she says, it’s Spencer, and he says, of course (🍷). Clearly, she and Mr. Corinthos are no longer together. She says, answer the question, and Drew says, Cyrus is standing here, having rolled right past the guard. If he’d broken out of Pentenville, Cyrus would be on his way to a country with no extradition treaty. Cyrus says, alas, nothing so dramatic. He was released from Pentenville earlier today. Carly asks, on what grounds? and Cyrus says, medical. The doctors determined that any further state could jeopardize his health and that he doesn’t have the capacity to harm anyone. Carly tells Drew, and he was concerned about asking the doctor to stay, when some quack let this maniac out on the streets? Cyrus says, and his first mission on said streets was to come and check on the man who saved his life, and Carly says, big mistake. Cyrus says he’s so glad Carly is here, keeping his friend Drew company, because he’s long wanted to see her.

Mason wonders who Dex is, and Dex tell him to drop the gun; he’s got a clear shot. Ava says, take the shot, but Mason shoots Dex first. Dex falls, and Ava elbows Mason, getting away from him. Dex pops back up and rushes Mason, and they roll around on the ground fighting.

Gregory says he believes that’s three to one, and Tracy says, best of seven? but he says, it’s late and he’s tired. He’d better be getting back. She says, coward, and he says, absolutely. He can see by that killer look in her eye, he should quit while he’s ahead. She says he’s a liar. He’s really good. He thanks her, and thanks her for the distraction. And the drink. She says, they’ll do it again, and he says he’d like nothing more. He didn’t realize how gratifying it could be to beat Tracy Quartermaine at something. She tells him, hold on to that feeling until next time when she wipes the floor with him, and he says, they’ll have to wait and see. Let him call a ride service. She says, Yuri will take him, and he thanks her. She says she really is sorry, but he says he told her, he’s not upset about what happened with Chase. She says she doesn’t mean that. She means his diagnosis. He moves toward her and they hug. He kisses her cheek and says, goodnight. She looks really sad as she watches him leave.

Dex and Mason continue to fight, and Mason gets Dex down, banging his head against the ground. Ava yells, no! Stop! I wonder why she’s not helping, when Mason is suddenly shot in the back and falls off Dex. Our hero Dante has arrived.

Carly tells Cyrus that she has nothing to say to him, so get out. He says he can appreciate her antipathy. After all, there was a great deal of friction between them when her ex-husband Sonny went missing, and she and Jason Morgan were running the territories. Drew asks what he wants, and Cyrus says he just wants Miss Spencer to understand that any friction back then was before he found the Lord. Carly says, is he kidding her? and he says he regrets the tactics he used, but even then, there was no personal animosity. She says she has tons of personal animosity toward him, and he says he completely understands. He just hopes that at some point in the future, he’ll have the opportunity to make almonds amends. She says, don’t hold your breath, and he says, at least she can appreciate the fact he was able to come to the aid of Mr. Cain. She asks Drew what Cyrus is talking about, but Drew says he has no clue. Cyrus says he’s sorry. He assumed they told Drew that he was the one who found him beaten in the shower. He got help for Drew. He was told Drew would have perished otherwise. So just as Drew saved his life, the Lord gave him the opportunity to save Drew’s. And seeing Drew here like this, recovering so well after the way he looked when Cyrus came to his aid… is thanks enough. God bless them both. He leaves, and Carly looks at Drew.

Eddie goes into the solarium and says, Tracy’s here. She says she lives here, and he says he knows. He was just hoping maybe… never mind. She asks, what’s up? and he says, that woman is driving him crazy. She says, Olivia? but he says, no, the other one. She says, oh. He doesn’t mean his wife Olivia; he means his ex-wife Lois. He says he doesn’t remember either one of them, but the second one. She says, Lois drives everybody a little crazy, and he says, she keeps going on and on about their past. Tracy says, the part where he married her, or the part where he married someone else while he was married to her? and he says he doesn’t need to hear this from her. She says, he’s right; she’s sorry. She’s not a Lois fan, however, he must realize how difficult the situation is for her. He says he does, but no one seems to understand how difficult this is for him. All he keeps hearing about is what an awful guy he was. Or what a wonderful guy he was. But none of it means anything to him, because he’s not that guy. Tracy says she’s sorry, and he says, him too. She asks why he came in here, and he says, when his head is spinning like this, he finds that music is the only thing that helps him. She says, be her guest, and heads for the door. He thanks her and sits at the piano.

Chase tells Lois, from the first time he arrested Brook, he could tell she was a force of nature. Lois tells him, he says that like arresting her was a romantic gesture, and he says, no, but needless to say, she didn’t appreciate his actions as a detective. Brook says, because he… but Lois shushes her and say she wants to hear what he has to say. Chase says, from the first time, even though they didn’t agree on everything… Brook says, anything, and he says, okay, anything. He came to admire Brook’s spirit and commitment. She was so eager to put everything she believed in on the line, and he always wondered where she got that nerve from. Now he knows. Lois says, aww. She didn’t do everything right as a mother, but if she taught her daughter to stand up for herself, then that makes her proud. Because her Brook Lynn has always been her own person. Brook says, with a very high tolerance for embarrassment, and Lois says she already apologized for the scene. Brook says she knows. It’s fine. She’s just glad Chase got to meet the real her. Chase says he’s glad he finally got to meet her, and Lois says, the feeling is mutual. It makes her feels so good to see her daughter so happy. And he seems like a very kind and patient man. Brook says, ma… and Lois says, both of which are good qualities if he’s going to move forward with her daughter. Brook says she’s got to break this lovefest up; they have to go. Lois asks Chase for a hug, and he obliges as Tracy walks in.

Brook walks out the door, Chase following her, and Tracy says, you’re welcome. Lois says, for what? and Tracy says, they’re together because of her. Lois says, is that a fact? Her daughter found a man who clearly adores her and she loves him back, and that joy is all because of Tracy? Tracy says, they were miles apart. She brought them together. Lois says, because Tracy blackmailed her daughter to get what she wanted.

Carly looks out the blinds, and tells Drew, that man didn’t find the Lord; he found a loophole. Drew says, they have to give Cyrus some kind of credit. He knows how to work the system. She says, the system’s a joke. That man is walking around free, while Drew is going back to Pentenville for insider trading? That he lost money on? (sigh) It’s insane. He says, it’s something they’ve got to deal with, at least for now, and she says, that man is dangerous. He can’t be out there roaming around the streets of Port Charles. Her phone rings, and she asks Josslyn, what’s up? Josslyn says, everyone is safe, but something’s happened. She needs to come home right away.

Ava asks Dex if he’s all right, and Dante phones in the report, keeping his gun on Mason. Dex takes the ties off Ava’s wrists and asks if Mason hurt her. (I just have this fleeting thought: Ava and Dex. It would work better than what they have going on now.) She says, no. She’s okay. How did he find her? He says, with a lot of help. It’s a long story. She says she’s glad she’s alive to hear it. Still on the phone, Dante checks Mason’s pulse, and says, he’s alive, but still unconscious. Two gunshot wounds to the back. He’s going to need medical attention and transport. He thanks them, and Ava asks, is the bastard gonna live? Dante says, guys like this usually do. Any idea why he brought her up here? She says, he was pretty clear when he was dragging her to the edge of the cliff before Dex showed up, and Dante says he means, does she have any idea why he abducted her in the first place? She says she guesses orders from his boss, and Dante asks, who’s his boss? Did she get a name? She says, no, but when she does, they’re going to wish she’d never heard it.

Cyrus gets in the hospital elevator, and Austin stops the doors from closing and joins him. Austin says he needs to talk to Ava, and Cyrus says, she seems to have become important in Austin’s life. Austin says he needs to know that she’s okay, and Cyrus says he’s expressed his gratitude for Austin’s help at the hearing, but gratitude only goes so far. Austin has known him a long time, and he’s sure by now Austin understands he’s in no position to make demands. It’s best to remember who’s in control here. He gets out of the elevator, but Austin stays in. The doors close.

Tomorrow, Tracy tells Lois that she couldn’t be more wrong; Josslyn asks how close Dex came to going over himself; and Carly tells someone, the kidnapping isn’t the worst thing.

👀 Not Looking In the Basement…

Join me tomorrow for soap and internet treats. The OC season is blessedly over, and I think RHOBH is coming soon, but tomorrow is only the Miami Reunion. I do watch Miami off and on, but never included it here. Until then, stay safe, stay watching the classic Halloween at least once this season, and stay channeling your anger into action. In a good way. Let it be a powerful motivator, but not a vengeful one.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Trina plays cards with Curtis and Portia, and Portia asks what Trina is doing on her phone. She’s been texting all night. What’s going on? Who is she texting? Curtis says, only if she feels like sharing, and she says, sorry. She didn’t mean to be rude. It’s Spencer; he needs her. We see her text to him: Hang in there. You’re not alone.

There’s a knock at Sonny’s penthouse door, and Spencer lets in Alexis, thanking her for coming. She says, he told her it was important. What’s up? He says, take her pick. Esme’s been found, his father’s sunk to a new low, and Britt is dead. She says she’s really sorry about Britt, and he says, it’s so wrong that she’s gone, and it scares him that there’s someone out there who may be even more dangerous and unhinged than Esme is.

At the station, Jordan says she understands the position Dante is in, but this investigation needs a break. The interview with Britt Westbourne was helpful. They now know the killer’s wearing a mask, but she’s still on the loose. If he’d feel more comfortable, she can take the lead. He says, no. It’s all good. They need to get to the bottom of what happened to Britt Westbourne that night. She says, that they do, and she’s hoping his connection with the witness pays off.

Michael asks if Drew knows where his mom is, and Drew says, she’s with Nina. Michael says, this night’s already bad enough. Why would she talk to Nina of all people? Drew says, there’s something Michael needs to know, but Michael says, if it has to do with Nina, he’s out. Drew says, he gets it. Nina has made life difficult for him and Willow. Michael says, she’s been hounding them for months. She took them to court over Wiley, and said Willow was cheating on him. Nina can’t stay out of their lives no matter what they do.

Outside Willow’s room, Josslyn asks if Sonny has seen Michael, and he says he hasn’t, but he’s sure Michael is close. She says, something’s come up and she has to go, but she told Michael she’d stay with Willow, and she feels really bad leaving her. Sonny says he’ll stay with Willow. Go ahead and go. He’ll explain it to Michael. She says, okay, and leaves. Sonny goes into Willow’s room.

Nina says, before Carly starts, if this is about her upsetting Willow again, she didn’t go over there for that. Carly says, that’s not what this is about. As Nina knows, Willow is sick. Nina says, that’s why she and Sonny were at the chapel; they were praying for Willow. Carly says, praying is good, but Nina can do more to save Willow, and Nina says, anything she can do. Carly says, good, because Nina may be the only person on earth who can save Willow.

Portia says, Spencer needs her? and Trina says, he needs a friend. Portia says she didn’t realize Trina still considered Spencer a friend, and Trina says, Esme resurfaced, and Spencer found out she was pregnant – by his father – and then he lost Britt who he was very close to. It’s been a lot on him. Portia says she doesn’t doubt it, especially the pregnancy part. She’s sure Spencer has a lot to unpack. What about Josslyn and Cameron? Can’t they help him? Curtis says, they know how amazingly compassionate Trina is, and Portia says, of course (🍷) they’re extremely proud of Trina’s instinct to help someone in need. But she has a very giving and forgiving heart, and she’s going through a lot right now herself. Curtis says, he and her mother want to make sure she’s supported. She has a lot to process, like, how does she feel about Esme being caught? Trina says, honestly, she’s conflicted. For months, she wanted Esme to face the consequences of filming that video and framing her. Esme made her life hell. Portia says, of course (🍷) she would want justice, and Trina says she did, but she wanted more than justice. She wanted revenge, and part of her still does.

Alexis says, so Spencer is living here now? and he says he is. She says, enough about that. She assumes he’s been told the PCPD is no longer considering Esme as a suspect, and he says, yes, but that doesn’t mean she’s innocent of anything else. He’s learned not to underestimate Esme. She says, hard won wisdom, and he says he did speak with her though. She asks what Esme said, and adds, she’s asking as his aunt, not as an editor. He says, that’s cool either way. She didn’t know who he was. Either she’s a very convincing fake, or she’s got amnesia. Alexis says, or maybe it’s possible she committed the crimes and doesn’t remember. She thinks it’s smart that the PCPD moved on to other suspects. He says he almost wishes she was guilty, so he could stop worrying that someone is targeting Trina and their other friends. She says, Britt was incredibly brave, and he says he almost wishes she wasn’t. She put her life on the line, but if she’d just run away like the person she was protecting, she might have lived to fight another day. He doesn’t know.

Dante thanks Josslyn for coming to the station so quickly, and she says, he told her it was important on the phone. He says, it is; it’s about The Hook killer. She asks if they found her, and he says, not yet, but he was hoping she could help them out with some questions. She says she wants to do whatever she can to help, but will it take long? and he says he doesn’t know. Does she have somewhere to be? She says, actually, yes. She was with Willow. They walk into the interrogation room, and Jordan and Robert are there. Josslyn asks, what is this? and Jordan asks her to have a seat.

Sonny says, Willow looks so fragile, but he knows she’s anything but. He’s seen her take on Shiloh and Nelle to protect Wiley. She’s been in a jail cell… She’s a fighter. That’s why he knows she’s going to fight this. She has the best medical care, and Michael’s going to do everything he can to take care of her. He just wishes he knew how to take care of them both.

Michael tells Drew, Nina actually came to their house tonight and accused him of jeopardizing Willow’s health. She confused Wiley; she upset Willow. If he has to get a restraining order, he’ll get one. He’ll do everything in his power to keep Nina away from Wiley. Drew says, he does not want to do that. He and Carly think Nina could be a bone marrow match for Willow. Michael knows he’s been searching for Willow’s birth family, right? Michael says, don’t tell him that Nina is some distant relative, and Drew says, not so distant.

Nina says she’s happy to get tested, just like everyone else, but Carly says, she’s not like everyone else. She needs to get tested now, and needs to rush the results. Nina says she understands the urgency – Willow’s having a medical crisis – but why did Carly have to come to her personally? Carly says, because a family member has the best chance of success, and Nina is the most likely match. Nina says she and Willow aren’t related, but Carly says, they are. Nina asks if Carly is all right. They’re only connected through Wiley, and that’s only because Nelle was her daughter. Carly says, Nelle isn’t Nina’s only daughter. Willow is too.

Dante says, Josslyn knows Britt Westbourne was murdered recently by The Hook? and Josslyn says she does. Jordan says, Dr. Westbourne was nicked trying to defend someone else, and Dante says, the intended victim, the person Britt rescued… They have security footage from the docks, and they think they have a lead. He slides his tablet over, and Josslyn looks at it. He asks if she recognizes anyone, but she says, it’s grainy. He says, that footage was captured on Pier 54, at 11:57 pm, the night of December 31st; fifteen minutes before Britt called in the attack on Pier 55. Josslyn slides the tablet back, and asks, what’s the question? Jordan says, was Josslyn the intended victim the night Britt died?

Curtis says, it’s perfectly natural that Trina would want Esme to pay for her crimes, and Trina says, but she’s not sure she does anymore… at least not like she used to. They should have seen Esme when she showed up on the deck of the Haunted Star. She looked pathetic, soaking wet, shivering, pregnant. She looked completely vulnerable. Portia says, that night maybe, but that doesn’t mean she’s still not a threat. Curtis says, Esme drugged Oz Haggerty to the point he had to be put in a medially induced coma, and she’s still a suspect in The Hook killings. Trina says, no doubt Esme’s done some horrible things, but that was the old Esme. Portia asks if Trina believes Esme doesn’t remember what she’s done, and Trina says, that’s what the doctors think, right? Is it possible amnesia changed Esme?

Sonny tells says, he’s lost so many people in his life. His son can’t lose Willow. For Michael, the sun rises and sets in her eyes. She’s the mother of his children, his best friend, his soulmate. He knows Willow’s encouraged Michael to communicate with him; to meet him halfway. She’s never lost hope that they’re going to be a father and son again. Everybody needs her. The family needs her; he needs her. Losing her would mean there’s no hope of the family getting back together again.

Michael says, Nina is Willow’s birth mother? The woman who’s been antagonizing Willow since she was a teacher? And Harmony knew the whole time? How could she… Drew says he knows it’s a lot to take in, but Willow needs Michael. She needs Michael’s support. Carly wanted to tell her, but because time is of the essence… Michael says, Drew’s right. She needs to hear it from him.

Nina asks what Carly is talking about. Willow is not her daughter. Carly says she understands this is a shock. She’ll be happy to give Nina an explanation, but later. Please come to the lab… Nina says she’s not going anywhere with Carly until Carly tells her… Carly says, there’s no time, and Nina says, then talk fast. Carly says, Nina had twins, and Nina says, impossible. Carly says, no. She was in a coma. Nina says she had medical attention. Phyllis was one of her nurses. She took Nelle to Florida, and gave Nelle to the Bensons. Carly says, that was the second baby, and she’s guessing that was by design, because Madeline had to make sure she separated the babies so she could get her hands on Nina’s inheritance. Nina says she doesn’t know why Carly is doing this, but she’ll play along. If Willow was Nelle’s twin, Carly is saying Madeline handed of Willow to… Carly says, Harmony. Nina’s mother gave the baby to Harmony.

Dante says, the person in that footage looks a lot like Josslyn, and if it is her, that means she was in the vicinity of that attack. That means she could possibly help them ID the killer. Josslyn says she’d tell them if she thought she could help, and Robert says, no need to be cagey. She’s in no trouble. Jordan says, they believe Josslyn was the victim that night. It’s curious she didn’t say anything. Dante says, they think she was the intended target the night Brando was killed. If what they suspect is right, then the killer got a second shot at her on New Year’s Eve. Jordan says, if Britt hadn’t shown up, Josslyn’s family might be planning her funeral. Robert says, they can’t protect her unless she gives them all the information. Talk to them. Diane walks in, and says, not one word.

Curtis says, whether or not Esme has amnesia, Trina can’t let her guard down. Trina says she hears them. She fully believes Esme is a psycho, but not a serial killer. Portia says she’s not clear on the laws regarding memory loss, but she doesn’t think it gives Esme a free pass. She committed crimes; she’s a criminal. She needs to face the consequences of her actions. Trina tells them, that’s what Spencer said, and she doesn’t disagree. She’s not saying she’d trust Esme again, but she’s not using Esme as a means of closure. She wants to end that chapter of her life and move on. Portia asks how letting in Spencer helps her do that.

Alexis says, Spencer was closest to Esme. She didn’t have any family; is that true? He says, just adopted siblings. They’re not close, but in due time, Esme will give birth and contribute directly to her family tree. Alexis says, and ours.

Sonny says, they’re going to do everything they can to get Willow well, so she can get back to her kids and his son. Even if he’s not invited back into the fold, it doesn’t matter. He just wants them to be together and happy. Open her eyes. She can do this. Just… Michael walks in.

Nina tells Carly, who knows how Harmony got Willow? That woman was a pathological liar. Carly says, one that tried to kill her and Alexis just to keep this secret safe, and Nina says, if Harmony wanted to keep it safe, how did Carly find out? Carly says, Harmony told her the night she died, and Nina says, Carly suspected she was Willow’s mother the night Harmony died last year? Carly says, if she’d known Willow was sick, she would have said something a lot sooner, and Nina asks if she told Willow. Carly says, no, and Nina says, good, because there is no evidence beyond a troubled woman’s sick confession on her deathbed. This is irresponsible of Carly to go out and present this as truth. She kind of understands it because of what Willow is going through right now, but she’s going to do Carly a big favor. She’s going to pretend this conversation never took place. Carly says she knows for a fact Nina is Willow’s biological mother, and Nina asks, how? Carly says she has proof.

Sonny says, Josslyn was called away, and didn’t want Willow to be alone, and Michael says he appreciates Sonny being here. Sonny says, of course (🍷). He’ll leave them alone. He leaves, and Michael sits by Willow’s bedside. He says he can hear her voice in his head, telling him to go after Sonny. Life’s too short, and he’s trying. Please don’t tell him their life is going to be cut short. He needs her. She’s his conscience, the voice in his head. And he needs to hear it out loud, even if it’s scolding him. She opens her eyes, and says she’ll remind him that he said that.

Trina says, since Rory died, Spencer’s really been there for her, and Portia says, at what cost? She’ll always be grateful Spencer did the right thing in the end, but she can never forget he lied and took Esme’s side. Trina says, he was playing her, but Portia says, not the entire time. She doesn’t get how Trina can excuse that, and let him back in. How is that moving on with her life? Curtis’s phone rings, and he says he has to check in on the club. He leaves, and Trina says she understands Portia’s concerns, but her eyes are wide open. She sees how Spencer has matured this past year. Those months in Pentenville, and now losing people he loves. It’s changed him; given him purpose. He’s committed to doing better. Portia says she’s genuinely sorry for what Spencer’s going through. The way his father betrayed him is indefensible. Trina says, Spencer’s crushed. He was really tight with Britt. And his father – the only parent he has – keeps letting him down over and over again. Portia says, one of the other reasons she’s so uncomfortable with them reconnecting. The Cassadines are dangerous, even to themselves. Everyone who goes near them ends up being burned.

Alexis says she takes it Spencer isn’t thrilled with having a new sibling. Keep in mind, it’s not the baby’s fault; the baby’s innocent. He says he’s not going to hold a grudge against a baby, and she says she knows. He’s a good one. He has forgiveness and empathy. He thanks her, and says, here’s the issue. If Esme finds a way out of this, she’s going to take that baby as far away from Port Charles as possible. Alexis says, Esme’s got some serious legal trouble pending. Even if she finds a way to get over that, Spencer’s father is resolved. He wants full custody.

In the squad room, Dante says he should have known Josslyn was going to call Diane. She’s Carly’s daughter. She’d probably never talk to the police without a lawyer present. Jordan says, Diane looks to be in fighting form, and Robert says, killer Miller. Diane comes out of the interrogation room, asking if she hears her name. Her client is ready to give a statement. They all go back in, and Jordan says, she wanted to keep this informal. Diane asks if that’s why she had Josslyn’s stepbrother call her down her and ambush her, with the District Attorney and the Commissioner. They know the rules. They can’t compel a potential witness to say anything. Robert says, there’s no need to pull out the heavy artillery; they’re just talking. Diane says, her client is ready to make a statement. The moment this turns into an interrogation, she pulls the plug. Josslyn says she was on Pier 55 at midnight on New Year’s. Someone did come at her with a hook. She doesn’t know who; she was wearing a mask. She tried to get away, but she was in heels. She fell down, and The Hook was basically on top of her. She was going to stab Josslyn, then Britt came out of nowhere, swinging her bag. Britt told her to run, and she did. Jordan asks why Josslyn didn’t come forward when she heard Britt died, and Josslyn says, she only found out about Britt a couple hours ago; they had a family emergency. Robert says, if what she’s saying is the truth, why did she engage counsel? and Diane says, first of all, it’s her constitutional right. Robert says, if she was arrested, which she wasn’t, and Diane says, it’s only a sensible idea to retain counsel. Josslyn is following her mother’s example, and the example of her Uncle Jason, who, if Robert recalls, never sat down to a police interview without the benefit of counsel. Think about all the misunderstandings they’ve avoided over the years, and look at them now, avoiding another one. Robert says, there’s really no comparison, unless she’s accusing his office of persecuting victims of crime. Diane says, not at all. She trusts him to act in good faith; just as Josslyn trusts her to ensure he does. Does Josslyn have anything to add? Josslyn says she didn’t see anything that night that could help them. She wishes she had. Dante asks if she remembers if her attacker was pregnant, and she says she doesn’t really know. She wasn’t really paying attention. She was kind of focused on The Hook, and trying to get away. Diane says she knows exactly how Josslyn feels. If she has nothing more to add… Josslyn says, no, and Robert says he’ll walk Diane out. Dante asks if Josslyn has a minute, but Diane says, only if it’s a family matter and not police business. He says, it is a family matter, and Josslyn says, it’s fine. Diane, Robert, and Jordan leave, and Dante says he’s sorry about this. Josslyn asks if it was his idea, and he says, no, but he went along with it. She says if she knew anything that could help him, he wouldn’t have to ambush her. She would have come to him herself. He says he knows. Looks like she outmaneuvered them anyway by calling Diane. She says she learned from the best, and he says she did. What was the family emergency?

Nina asks what proof Carly has that Willow is her daughter, and Carly says she ran a DNA test on the two of them. After Harmony told her that Nina was Willow’s mother, she was skeptical. So she took a few strands of hair from Willow’s hairbrush, and a glass Nina had used at Charlie’s Pub. Nina says, Carly stole her DNA, then ran an illegal DNA test without her knowledge or consent? Carly says, the results were conclusive, with a probability of 99.9%. Nina and Willow are biologically mother and daughter.

Sonny says, it’s good Drew is here. Michael needs all the support he can get, and he doesn’t want it from Sonny. Drew tells Sonny that Josslyn said she filled him in about Willow, and Sonny asks if Drew’s known all along, but Drew says, no. Willow filled him in a couple of weeks ago. Sonny says, it kills him that she didn’t loop them in, and Drew says, it’s always better to have things out in the open. Sonny wonders if he can ask Drew a question, and Drew says, yeah. Sonny says, Carly’s in the chapel right now with Nina instead of Michael and Willow. Does he know anything about that?

Spencer says, his father wants the baby, and Alexis says, he plans to sue on the grounds that she’s unfit. He says, pot meet kettle, and she says she knows. She doesn’t know the details; she doesn’t want to. She just knows he’s serious. Spencer says, with his considerable resources and no one to vouch for Esme… She says, he stands a good chance. So if Esme isn’t the killer, who is? He says he wishes he could tell her. He really thought it was Esme. She asks if Trina has any enemies, but he says, everyone loves Trina. She says, what about Portia? What about Taggert? He says he doesn’t think so. Trina’s dad and Curtis were both in law enforcement, so maybe, but why would they go after Trina instead of going after them directly? Is she looking for a scoop? She says she’s looking for the truth. She’d like the killer caught. She has to go to work; she has a conference call. Don’t tell his father that she told him about his plans. Spencer says he won’t. It was good to see her. She says, as far as vouching for Esme, is there anyone important to her, aside from that sociopath Chamberlain? He says, yes. She’s very devoted to Esme. Maybe enough to kill for her?

Portia says she’s tried to be open minded about Trina’s connection to Spencer, but his father lost her when he terrorized the kids at Windymere because he was trying to teach Spencer a lesson. Now that same man cheated on his wife, with Spencer’s girlfriend, and got her pregnant. The same girl that terrorized Ava. And don’t get her started on Victor Cassadine because… Trina says she knows. She knows Spencer’s family is messed up. Portia says, amoral is a better word for it. She doesn’t want Trina anywhere near those people. Trina says, Spencer’s not his family; he’s his own man. Portia says, he’s a two-time convicted felon, and Trina says, growing up, Portia taught her never to judge people by their worst mistake. Portia says she knows, but you also have to look at the patterns people do. Trina says she gets that Portia is just looking out for her, but please trust her judgement. Portia says she does, and Trina says she hopes one day Portia sees Spencer the way she does, but ultimately, she doesn’t have to. Because he’s not Portia’s friend; he’s hers.

Willow asks, what happened? and Michael says, she collapsed at home, but she’s stable now. She says, Nina was in the house with Wiley… He says, Wiley is with Brook and Chase; he’s fine. She asks if Wiley saw her pass out, and he says he’s afraid so. She says, he must be terrified, and Michael says, he knows she’s sick. He doesn’t the have details, but they can explain it to them together. She asks if she’ll make it home to do that, and he says, of course (🍷). Why would she ask that? She says, he has the strangest expression on his face. What is he not telling her? He says, it’s about Nina, and she says she never wants to hear that woman’s name again.

Drew tells Sonny that he knows why Carly wanted to speak to Nina, but it’s not his place to share. Sonny says, Carly’s not here, and he needs answers. If it involves his family, he needs to know, and he suggests Drew tell him.

Nina says she wants to see those results, and Carly says she’ll get Nina a copy. Nina says, never mind. She doesn’t know if Carly used her samples or Willow’s. She’ll get her own test. Carly says, they don’t have time. Why would she lie? Nina says she doesn’t know why Carly does the things she does. Maybe because she’s a liar. Maybe because Carly hates her, or maybe this is some bizarre revenge because she fell in love with Sonny. Carly says, Willow is dying. She has Stage IV leukemia. She needs healthy blood forming cells from a relative, and she only has one. She has Nina. Nina flashes back to her interactions with Willow over the years, both friendly and antagonistic. Carly says she knows Nina hates her and the feeling is mutual, but it’s not about them. This is about Willow. Please go get tested. Please. Nina says, Carly is a monster. Carly made her feel like the scum of the earth. She said over and over how Nina was wrecking their family. What about Nina’s family? How could Carly keep her away from her child? Carly says, Nina can lash out at her all she wants after she gets tested, and Nina says, don’t tell her what to do. Go to hell, you selfish bitch. She’s going to go save her daughter. She slams out of the chapel.

Trina tells Portia, it’s been a long day. Tell Curtis thanks for dinner. She’s not in the mood for dessert. Goodnight. Trina goes upstairs, and Curtis walks in with a couple glasses of wine. He tells Portia that he heard most of it. Does she want to talk about it? She asks if it’s that obvious, and he says he knows her face. He’s literally memorized every expression. Call it a survival tactic. She says she thought Trina put Spencer in the rearview, but she seems determined to revive their friendship. He says he wondered about that when he saw them together, and hoped it wouldn’t become a habit, and Portia says, it won’t if she has anything to say about it. He says he’s not sure she does. Trina has made it clear that she values boundaries. Portia says she wants to respect that, but she’s not going to sit back and watch Spencer worm his way back into Trina’s heart again.

Spencer says, last Esme mentioned her, Maggie was living in London, but Sam could tell Alexis more. Alexis says, her Sam? and he says he asked Sam to find Maggie Fitzgerald when he thought she could be the key to getting Esme to confess she framed Trina. But then Trina was exonerated, and he never followed up. In a letter, Maggie warned Esme against having any contact with her birth father. Alexis says, he told her Esme had no family, and he says, none that she knew of, but Esme claims Maggie knew her biological parents, but never told her. Alexis thanks him for this. Let her know if he hears anything else. A reporter took a picture of him and Trina together after Rory’s funeral. He says, they’ve been spending time together, and she says, be careful. If Trina is a target, it could put him at risk. He says he knows how to protect his own, and she says, his own. He is growing up.

Drew tells Sonny, he’s not gatekeeping family business. It’s a personal matter that involves Nina. Sonny says, Nina’s his family, and Drew says he’s sure Nina will tell him. Carly comes along, and tells Sonny to back off. Sonny asks, what’s going on? Where’s Nina?

Willow says, every time she turns around, Nina is invading their space. Making wild accusations; trying to get close to their son. Nina is toxic. Michael tells her to calm down, and she tells him to make her a promise. If she loses this battle, promise her that Nina will never have access to Wiley ever again. Nina walks in, and Willow says, get out. Leave her alone. Michael says, not now, and Willow says, not ever. She wants Nina out of this room, and out of her life for good. Nina says she’s sorry, but Willow’s life may depend on her.

On Monday, Spencer says, this baby may not know either of its parents; Sonny asks what Carly has to feel guilty about; and Michael suggests Willow hear what Nina has to say.

🚑 Heavy Weighs the Soap Crown…

I don’t think I’ve ever watched the scene in question, but it sounds pretty awful. I remember Roger Howarth being uncomfortable about Todd having been a rapist on OLTL, then going on to be an antihero.

I totally get it, and she certainly went out with a bang.

I didn’t watch the soaps he was in, but the fact he wrote The Deer Hunter makes him worthy of a mention.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

To round out the week of Nurse’s Ball flashbacks, today’s GH was from May 5th, 2015. Elizabeth had an announcement, and while we all thought she was going to tell everyone Jake Doe was really Jason (although he was ultimately Jason’s twin), when she took the mic, she talked about Robin and Stone, and Robin’s courage. She said she wished she could be that brave. After playing Phantom of the Nurse’s Ball, tiny terrorizing the event, and not impressing Emma (a scene I’d missed yesterday), Spencer’s late mother Courtney paid him an otherworldly visit. Courtney told him that making people feel badly reflected badly on him, and maybe he really felt badly about himself. She encouraged him to go to the Ball, and stop pretending that he had a hideous deformity. She got him to remove his make, and he really didn’t have much of anything.

At the Ball, Elizabeth told Nikolas she wanted the chance with Jake that she never had with Jason, and that she deserved happiness. Jake did a lot of talking to who-the-hell-is-that-guy? and Spinelli sang Stephen Bishop’s It Might Be You, which was my wedding song. Mixed emotions there – ha-ha. Who-the-hell-is-that-guy? #2 talked to Duke about taking Jordan out, and I don’t mean on a date. Felix presented Lucy with flowers, and the show ended with Sabrina and Epiphany singing You’re Not Alone, and everyone joining hands on stage.

I have no clue what the deal is for next week, or whether they’re going to continue the 2015 Ball, which has another episode. The digital guide isn’t showing any episodes as new, so we’ll see.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Fear the Walking Dead

June, Morgan, and Al look for Quinn. June asks if Quinn copies, but gets dead air. Morgan thinks they should go back, but June wants to keep looking. Al agrees. At the truck, Sarah radios that they got a goose egg. Morgan says they’re going to keep looking, Jim asks Sarah why they kidnapped him, and she says they just borrowed him. They need beer. Jim says she might be capable of making swill after a year, but she wants the best beer; and that is in his mind, experience, fingers, and soul.

We hear zombie noises, and Sarah goes to check it out. Jim wants a gun, but Wen says, what about a rock? Jim sees a zombie coming toward Wen from behind, and Wen checks it out in his rearview mirror. Jim calls for Sarah, but Wen lets the zombie come closer, and impales it one his James Bond wheelchair gadgets. As it thrashes around on some spikes, Wen asks if Jim wants his first kill; he’ll get a point. Too late. Sarah pikes it in the head, and says, whoever gets the kill wins the bill. Sarah tells Momo to get his ass back there.

Al examines a dead Purvis. Sarah wonders what kind of sicko sh*tto does that? June radios Quinn. Jim wants to leave now, and Sarah thinks he has a has a point. June asks if Quinn copies, and gets zombie noises in reply.

Crazy Lady tells her that’s Quinn, and June asks, who is this? Crazy Lady says she let him become what he was meant to be, and Quinn makes more noises into the radio. She says, he’s not weak anymore. Morgan knows the voice, and says she was by one of the boxes. She asks if that’s Morgan, and he wonders how she knows his name. She says she knows a lot about him. Al says bitch has her van, and isn’t giving it back. Morgan asks what she wants, and Crazy Lady says she shouldn’t be leaving things by the side of the road. She tells Morgan that he shouldn’t be doing what he’s doing. Leaving the boxes makes people weak, and he’s not weak. At least he didn’t used to be. He asks what she wants again. What she wants is for him to stop trying to help people. If he becomes strong again, she won’t have to make him that way. It’s better for both of them. She knows who he really is, and what he’s capable of. She says, it’s still there.

Victor wakes up, and rifles through a pantry. He reads Moby Dick for a moment, and goes outside. He surveys the property with binoculars. He’s in a ranger station surrounded by what looks like a lagoon. We see the tops of street signs sticking out of the water, so it must have been flooded during the hurricane.

John chops wood to make a raft. He takes a wrapped piece of candy from his pocket and kisses it. A zombie comes out of the water. John says he hates the wet ones, and whacks it with an ax. Victor says his morning reading was interrupted. John tells him that he saw a lone crane. He never saw a crane fly solo; the world has turned upside down. He says he could use another pair of hands, but Victor says he’s lost his taste for boating. He tells John these aren’t friendly waters, but John says he’s not going for swim. He’s going to get as far as he can. He says there’s room for two, but Victor passes. He’s got apple rations; it’s practically paradise, and he’s not going on another fool’s errand. He’s learned, if you have God’s wine cellar, keep it. He’s not getting in or on whatever that is. He thinks it’s time to stop being foolish. John says when he finds June and Charlie, he’ll come back on something less handmade. Victor could run out of food soon. Victor hopes when the raft falls apart, it’s toward shore.

Luci finds the library where Charlie got the book she left. She goes inside, and calls for Charlie. She looks around outside and sees a zombie scrabbling at a car. She pikes it in the head. It’s not Charlie inside, but an older dude whose bottom half is wedged under the dashboard and bleeding out. She tells him that she can help, and asks how long he’s been there. He tells her since the storm hit, an she says she’ll get him out of there. He introduces himself as Clayton, and wonders why she’d want to help a stranger.

John asks if Victor is sure he doesn’t want to come. Of this, Victor is most certain, but he’ll watch. John gets on the raft – which is a few logs tied together – and it sinks a little. A crocodile swims toward John, who shoots at it, and jumps off the raft/ Victor says they’ve had the fear taken out of them, but you’d think she’d be full. John says it looks like they’re still roomies. Victor laughs. I love Victor.

Morgan buries Purvis. Jim asks what difference it makes. Al looks at the truck owner’s journal, and we find out he was called Polar Bear. Wen says he had many memorable sayings, but Al doesn’t think he’d like them written on the faces of the dead. Morgan says they’re going to find Victor and the others, including the guy who owned the truck. Jim says they don’t even know if he’s alive. Sarah says they wouldn’t have stolen the truck if he couldn’t have taken care of himself. June says Quinn looked like he could too. Jim wonders about what that nut job said; she knows what Morgan is capable of. He asks Morgan what that means, and Morgan says, it doesn’t matter. Jim tells Morgan they agreed to come with him; they deserve to know. Sarah says this makes twice today she agreed with him. Morgan says he has things he needs to make up for; the same as everyone else. He suggests they hit the road. Sarah asks, what if they say no? Morgan says he’ll take the truck and keep doing what he’s doing. Wen asks if he knows how to drive eighty-thousand pounds of steel at eight miles an hour. Al says she does. She wants to talk to the guy who set this up. Sarah takes out a knife, but Morgan knocks it out of her hand with a shovel. She says they’re going with him.

A zombie starts to walk across the water, and the crocodile grabs him. Victor says he’s not going anywhere, but John says there’s got to be a way to them. Victor asks if he really thinks he’s going to find June. He says he found her before; he thought she was dead. Victor says look what that got him. John says he knows there are no happy endings, but they have to fight every day, and he found someone to fight with him. He takes out the piece of candy, and says it’s her favorite. He’s not changing his mind, and when he sees her, he’s giving it to her. If they don’t fight every day, they’re no better than the past. Victor says, the only difference between them and the past, is one day’s rations.

Commercial break with an interesting Walking Dead ad, announcing Rick Grimes’s final episodes – beginning October 7th. Ya’ll know he’s leaving, right? At this point, I can’t even make myself care. That show would be totally depressing without Negan. They had their chance to balance things out several times, and blew it. And we’re back.

John sees a zombie stuck in a truck toward the top of a cliff.

Luci tells Clayton that she’s getting him out. He says it’s nice thinking that she’s willing to help, but she can’t. The car is the only thing keeping him together. She says there has to be something she can do. She asks if there’s anyone he wants her to find; anyone looking for him? He says, one, but it’s the only person he doesn’t want to see; the rest are gone. He says he never thought he’d go out like this, and laughs. He’d love to have one last beer. Luci says he’s going to get one. She gives him a radio, and says keep talking to her. He tells her no one uses channel 17.

John and Victor look up at the truck. It has a square, plastic cover over the bed. Victor says, it will never work, but John says, it will float better than wood. Victor assumes John wants him to retrieve it. John says the only reason he can’t is because of the injury Victor and his friends gave him.

Morgan puts a box along the road. Sarah says Polar Bear should have changed up his route. Al asks if she thinks them stealing his truck is his fault. Sarah says she couldn’t help it if he left his keys in his rig. Morgan says, if they’re lucky, he’s still around. Jim says, or walking around with things written in Sharpie on his face. They decide to get going, and Morgan writes on the box, if you need help, vhf channel 4. June wonders if John will see it, and Morgan says they’ll find him. One way or another, they’ll find them all.

Victor gets on top of the side of the car. John tells him, release the latch, and gravity will do the rest. Victor says he knows what he’s doing. He looks inside and sees a bottle of primo whiskey on the floor of the car. He reaches in, trying to dodge the zombie, and John is like, what the hell? Victor grabs the bottle, but the zombie grabs him – I say, oh, sh*t! – and pulls him into the car – I say, oh sh*t! The car tumbles down the cliff – I say, oh sh*t! – and into the water – I say, oh sh*t! John runs to the car. The zombie has been impaled by a branch, and Victor has the whiskey. And it’s not even Pappy van Winkle.

John tells Victor that he could have gotten himself killed, and Victor says, but he didn’t. John can’t believe he almost killed himself, so he can tie one on. Victor says good luck with raft two. He’ll be a noisemaker when John needs him. John works on the raft.

Luci checks a beer truck, but no surprise, it’s empty.

John loads the raft with some supplies.

Luci opens a garage. Over the radio, Clayton asks how it’s going. She says she’s getting close; she knows it. She looks in a fridge, and it looks like mine when I first moved to NYC – empty.

John prepares the new raft, reinforcing the seams, and making some kind of flotation thing to attach.

Luci finds a six pack, but it’s root beer.

Victor drinks. John asks if he drank before. Victor says he was an amateur; now he’s gone pro. John asks, what for? and Victor says he drinks to forget. John says, forget what? and Victor says, that he has no one to drink with anymore. John has things to look forward to. He only has things to look back on. John tells him that he’s not trying. He can have someone, just not here. Victor asks what about the distraction, and John says he’s got it.

John shows Victor how he’s rigged up an alarm. He asks if Victor doesn’t think it will work, and Victor say he didn’t think John would survive a bullet to the gut, but here they are. John says he’s just got to believe. Is he coming? Victor says, yeah.

Clayton asks Luci if she’s okay. She says she’s sorry. She thought she had it. Clayton says there’s nothing to be sorry about. She tried to help. Not a lot of people are still willing to do that, especially for a stranger. She says, it doesn’t matter; she failed. Clayton tells her there was a time when he didn’t want to be around anyone. He found a job that took him away from the world. Away from everyone he ever knew or cared about. Then when the world changed, everyone went away, and he realized he’d made the biggest mistake of his life. Luci asks what he did, and he says he couldn’t help the people he ran away from, so he helped the people still around. Luci doesn’t understand, and he says just because she couldn’t help him, doesn’t mean she can’t help someone else.

John starts the alarm. He asks Victor if he really needs a drink before they reach the other side. The zombies start to come. John and Victor put the raft in the water, and start to paddle.

Luci sees one of the boxes. I knew it! I knew that’s where the beer would come from. She sees Morgan’s message about channel 4, and finds the beer.

Victor and John continue to paddle. The zombies gravitate toward the noise. It starts to lose steam, and I say, nooo. John says, that’s a pickle. They’re almost halfway across, and John says, fiberglass is strong. The raft suddenly moves, and John loses his oar. Another, oh sh*t. It’s the crocodile, going under them and circling. John shoots at it. It’s that quiet moment before something happens, and the crocodile bumps the raft again. The raft begins to take on water through a crack. John thinks they can make it, but Victor is like, no. They can’t fight if they’re dead. It didn’t work, and it’s never going to. The only reason Victor went along is because he felt sorry for John, but he won’t die for him. He tells John to fire his gun, and they’ll swim back. John shoots the gun, and the zombies start to come in to the water, where the crocodile picks them off. Victor says he can’t. He’s going to live, even if only for a while longer. They swim back.

Luci comes back to the car. Clayton says she doesn’t give up. She says she watched someone die, and couldn’t do anything to make it better. She’s not letting it happen again. She gives him the beer, and he can’t believe it’s cold. She tell him the first aid kit had ice. He drinks deep, and smiles. He thanks her, and asks if he can give her something; a couple of notebooks in the back. They list places he left supplies; things that will help her. She’ll read about it. She says his job that took him away, what was it? He takes her hand and says he drove trucks. It’s him! It’s Polar Bear!

Luci puts the empty bottle on Clayton’s grave. She turns the radio to channel 4, and says, whoever left the box, if they’re listening, thank you. What they left helped more then they’ll ever know. Morgan says, Luciana, is that you? and Luci says, Morgan?

Victor leaves John sitting on the ground, and watching the water. He seems pissed, and goes inside. John takes the candy out. It says black licorice on the wrapper (like that’s anyone’s favorite candy in this century). He unwraps it. I’m very distracted that it looks like a caramel, and I wonder why. Because it’s old? How does black licorice change color? Or is it not really black licorice? He eats it, and it no longer matters.

Sarah’s truck barrels down the road. In the back, Morgan looks at the notebooks. Luci says, he said they were important, and could help. Morgan asks if he knew where she found the beer, and she says she didn’t get the chance to tell him. She thinks he’d like what they’re doing. The radio comes on. Charlie asks if someone is there, and we see her with Alicia by one of the boxes.

Morgan asks if they need help, and where are they. Alicia tells Charlie, it could be trap, but realizes it’s Morgan. She tells him that they’re all right, and by mile marker 84; they just found the box. He says they’re just north of there; they’re coming back. Crazy Lady breaks in and says, she needs him to be strong. Morgan says he knows her, and to listen to him. She’s wrong. What she said about helping people, it doesn’t make them weak; it makes all of them strong. He’s been where she is – stuck. She thinks what she’s doing is the right thing; the only thing, but it’s not. So they’re going to keep finding the people they’re looking for. It’s working already. They’re going to find them and help them, and then they’re going to help her.

Sarah says, that van Al was talking about – Al says, it’s a tank. Sarah thinks they found it. It’s at their back door. They all look, and see Al’s tank heading toward them. Jim says, holy sh*t! and Al says, it’s sluggish as hell. Sarah asks what they think the truck is. She tries to speed up, and Wen says it’s gaining on them. Sarah presses the gas harder.

Morgan gets on the radio, and asks what Crazy Lady is doing. Crazy Lady gets near them and opens the top where the artillery is. She says she told him that she was making him strong. Morgan tells everyone to get down.

Alicia and Charlie hear gunfire on the radio. Alicia says, Morgan? and gets silence.

Next time, Crazy Lady hooks herself another zombie, Alicia wants to keep moving, Jim wants to move away from things that want to eat them, and June asks what’s next?

👓 New NYC Wife?

Could this by Carole’s replacement? Frankly, after the reunion, I’m glad to see the back of Carole. I liked her until she found “her voice.” Apparently, that voice is pretty nasty. This is an interesting turn of events, since the last time Barbara was on the show, she tried to keep it from happening.

It’s strange, but when you watch these people for years, they sort of become like one of the family. Albeit, a lot of the time they’re those cousins you love, but at a distance. It always makes me sad when there’s a rift that can’t be mended, and this one is a heart-breaker.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Curtis asks if Drew isn’t attracted to a smart, funny, successful woman. Drew says it’s not that; he thinks Margaux has an agenda. Curtis says he didn’t find anything. She might as well be called No Drama Dawson. Drew thinks there’s more to Margaux than they’re seeing. Curtis says he guesses Drew would know, and shows him the picture from The Invader.

Margaux looks at the same picture at the bar, and asks Peter how he feels about lawsuits. He says he’s not a fan. She can’t believe he’s still walking free. She wants to find the publisher of this rag, and he says she’s looking at him.

At the MetroCourt, Nina and Maxie are having a meeting. Lulu stops by, and asks Nina if they’re still meeting about Charlotte’s schedule, and Nina says they’re still on. Lulu says she might not be in Valentin’s life anymore, she’ll always be in Charlotte’s. Nina thanks Lulu for including her.

Brad and Lucas come to the hospital with the baby. Kim asks how the two fathers are, and Lucas says Wiley might not be theirs much longer.

Alexis tells Diane that she knew this could happen, but hoped it wouldn’t. Diane thought the path was clear, but shame on her. The window exists for a reason. Alexis asks if Diane knows why the birth mother would reconsider after all this time. Julian opens the door a crack so he can hear better.

Michael goes to Sonny’s place and looks at family photos. Sonny walks in, and asks how it was. Michael says, quiet and peaceful. He stayed longer than he meant to. He didn’t know how to leave. Sonny says there’s a terrible moment when you bury someone you love. The grave is covered, the prayers have been said, you said everything you can say. You want to walk away, but can’t. It’s over. He tells Michael that he’s going to get on with his life. The life waiting for him, but not with them. You miss them, remember them, and imagine what it would be like with them, but it’s just a game in your head. You’re trying to hide from the grief, but the longer you keep playing that game, the worse it’s going to get.

Diane tells Alexis it won’t make things less difficult. The odds of Brad and Lucas keeping the baby are slim to none. There are no red flags with the birth mother, and no reason to question her fitness. Alexis tells her to say Brad and Lucas love their son is an understatement. Diane asks if she’s prepared them, and Alexis says they understand it’s likely they’ll lose. Diane says her paralegal was supposed to bring her a file. She looks out in the hallway, and Julian ducks around a corner. Alexis really wishes they weren’t going through this proceeding, and Diane says, you and me both.

Drew tells Curtis that Margaux asked him to help her bring down Sonny. Curtis asks what he said, and Drew says he accused her of flirting with him to get him to flip on Sonny, but it’s not happening. Curtis asks if that’s when she laid one on him. Drew says she insisted she was genuinely interested in him. There’s something going on with that woman, and he’s going to find out what.

Margaux says Peter is the publisher of The Invader? He says, the one and only. She says he certainly rose from the ashes. He thanks her, but she says it’s not a compliment. He asks why she’s so angry, and she says he turned something he knows nothing about into a news story. Congratulations on his breathtaking lack of scruples. His father would be proud.

Lulu tells Maxie and Nina that Peter is there, and he offered her a job. Maxie asks if he’s making the rounds. Lulu says, her too? Nina asks if she took it, but Lulu says, no way. She works for s legitimate publication that has staff meetings. She goes over to Peter, and tells him to cancel dinner on Friday. She won’t be joining him. She doesn’t deal in fake news. Maxie asks Nina what’s wrong with Peter that he’s poaching employees from his old company? It’s tacky. She sees Nina isn’t paying attention, and says, earth to Nina; what’s going on? Nina says she was remembering what day it was. Valentin comes in, and asks to speak to Nina. Maxie says they’re in the middle of a working lunch, but Nina says, it’s okay. They have unfinished business to attend to.

Drew says Margaux showed interest too quickly. Curtis says he doesn’t see it, but maybe she finds him irresistible. Drew tells him that she said since he has Jason’s memories, he knows where the bodies are buried. Curtis says she kissed him anyway. Does he like her, or did he before? What if he’s wrong? What if she’s digging him, and he missed out because he’s too damn stubborn?

Margaux says apparently she’s not the only one who questions Peter’s journalistic integrity. He says there’s nothing wrong with printing a picture of a public servant. She’s not off limits; neither is Drew. If she wants less coverage, she should control her impulses. She asks if he’s trying to piss her off. He says, no, and actually thinks they like each other.

Valentin asks to speak to Nina privately, but Nina says whatever he’s got to say, he can say in front of Maxie. He asks if she knows what day it is, and Maxie wonders what’s up with the day? Nina says Valentin had thirty days to change her mind, and they’re up. Maxie says she’s still going through with the divorce, right?

Kim tells Brad and Lucas that she’s sorry. Lucas says the birth mother changed her mind once; they’re hoping she changes it again. It’s possible. Brad says they already love him so much.

Diane feels for Brad and Lucas, but tells Alexis it could be worse. She just came from the funeral for Michael’s baby. Alexis says at least they have the comfort of knowing the baby is alive and well. Diane says either her paralegal was held up or took a long lunch. She’ll collect the file herself. Alexis says she’s very hands-on. Diane tells her, never let it be said that Diane Miller is spoiled. Alexis says, except when Max is feeding her grapes during her mani/pedi.

When they’re gone, Julian pops out, and goes into the office.

Curtis doesn’t want Drew to miss out on something special because he was burned in the past. He suggests he bring her to the reception. He gave Drew a plus one; he might as well use it. He can show Margaux his fancy Macarena dance moves. Drew says he’s just trying to be realistic, but Curtis says sometimes you have to let go and enjoy yourself. Maybe he should stop looking for what’s wrong, and see something right. He doesn’t care what they say, there’s hope for him. Drew says he knows what he’s doing. Curtis says, if you say so. Drew asks if they’re really going to play the Macarena, and Curtis tells him it was hypothetical. Curtis leaves, and Lulu approaches Drew. She says sorry for stalking him, but she needs his help facing the job market.

Peter thinks Margaux could help him; she knows about the juicy stories. If she accommodates him, he’ll do the same. She says, in his dreams. He tells her, there’s no expiration date on the offer. If she changes her mind, she knows where to find him.

Valentin tells Nina it’s torture living without her, and Charlotte misses her. Maxie tells him not to use his daughter as emotional blackmail. He says they can make it work, better than it was before. Maxie asks if she’s falling for this, and Nina says, sorry. There’s nothing he can do to make up for what he did to Peter. He used an innocent child as a pawn; she can’t get over it. She’s filing for divorce, and he said her wouldn’t fight her. Valentin says he won’t, and she thanks him. She has to go. Maxie asks where she’s going, but Nina doesn’t answer and jets to the elevator like she’s on fire. Maxie says poor Valentin; he didn’t get what he wanted. Valentin says Maxie did. She can’t bring herself blame Peter for Nathan’s death, so she’s punishing him. He admits he played his part. Nina understands his situational ethics; he practices doing what’s necessary to get what he wants. He doesn’t regret a moment spent with her. She knows that he loves her, complete with her complexities, contradictions, and eccentricities. He doesn’t want her money or to control her. He loves her, even flawed. He tells Maxie to punish him, but stop using Nina to do it.

Brad asks Alexis is she’s gotten any ne information. She tells them that Diane is the biological mother’s attorney. Brad says he thought she was sympathetic to them, and Alexis says, she is, but she was there to represent her client. Lucas says, even though the birth mother vetted and selected them, now she wants the child back. It doesn’t matter.

Julian take pics of the adoption file in Diane’s office.

Sonny tells Michael that he’s dealt with grief alone many times, inside himself. Sometimes physically locking the doors and covering the windows; sometime shutting down and focusing on work, so he didn’t have to think about what’s missing or the empty space left behind. Michael says, Jonah didn’t leave anything behind. He sees a picture of Morgan, and thinks of his room, and the memories he has. He can close his eyes and see him; hear his voice. He never even heard Jonah cry. Jonah never touched anything he got for him. That’s why it was easier than he thought to give his stuff away. There’s no way to compare the two. Sonny tells him not to. He loved them both, and lost them both. That’s the hell of it.

Peter is looking at other publications on his tablet, and Maxie asks him if he’s nostalgic for real news. He says he’s checking the competition. He asks how James is, and Maxie tells him not to pretend they’re friends. He says he finds no shame in giving the public what it wants. She asks if that includes poaching employees. He says it clearly bothers her that he offered Lulu a job. He didn’t think they were friends anymore. Like the two of them.

Lulu tells Drew that she’s been demoted. She’s been bumped to puff pieces in favor of a Pulitzer prize winner who came along. Drew admits it’s a good move. Lulu says it’s great, but in the meantime, all the huge stories she wrote don’t exist. Stacy appreciate her work, and said she was grateful for the stories she’s covered about people she knew personally, but she has to come up with something new. Drew says that’s the reason he hired them. If Stacy thinks it’s best for the paper, his advice is to keep it up. Keep doing what she’s doing in the event an opportunity presents itself. She asks if he realizes patience is not a Spencer thing. He wishes he could help. She thanks him for hearing her, and leaves.

Margaux asks if Drew has seen any good headlines, and he says nothing that caught his eye. She says if she’d realized the kiss would be in the news, she would have thought twice about it. He hopes it didn’t damage her reputation. She thinks it’s intact, and asks about his. He thinks he can use it, and she says it’s a win-win. She offers to make it up to him for being a jerk, and asks if he’s hungry.

At the hospital, Julian tells Kim there’s a lot going on. She says she saw Lucas and Brad, and they told her about the birth mother. It breaks her heart. Julian doesn’t understand how she can just take him back. What kind of person does that? Kim says, a mother.

Nina goes to Diane’s office. Diane has the papers drawn up, and asks if Nina has decided what she wants to do. If she’s changed her mind, Diane can make it go away. Nina says she has to divorce her husband

Valentin thanks Curtis for coming. He has a job for him. Curtis says Nina is one of his favorite people, and he feels the opposite about Valentin. Why would he do Valentin a favor? Valentin says it’s not a favor for him. The only person who stands to benefit is Nina.

Michael says he read something that said all grief is unique, yet all grief is the same. Sonny says, the difference is how you deal with it. He’ll realize eventually the only way out is through. He tells Michael not to make the same mistake he did. He has a lot of people who love him and want to help him; let them help. Michael says he just did that, and they hug. Sonny says he’ll be all right.

Brad says Wiley left his binkie in the car, and goes to get it. Alexis asks Lucas if Brad is all right. She needs them both to be focused, and stay strong. They need to present a more stable home.

Kim tells Julian the bond between mother and child is indescribable. He wonders why the birth mother didn’t balk after she gave birth. Kim says she probably doesn’t know what’s happening; she just knows she’s not with him. Maybe she decided she couldn’t go through with it. She’s sorry it’s hurting them so much. He appreciates her perspective, and her listening to him. She tells him to stick around. She leaves, and he gets a call from Brad, who’s freaking out. He asks if Julian has made any headway. How can they make sure no one finds out Wiley is another woman’s son? Julian says he’s on it. He has a plan, and will fill Brad in later. He tells Brad to sit tight. He looks at the photos he took.

Margaux tells Drew that she ran into Peter, and told him what she thought of his brand of journalism. His photographer isn’t bad though. He managed to get her good side. Drew’s, not so much. She asks if she’s boring him already, and he says he’s just trying to figure her out. She didn’t realize she was complicated. He says she came on a bit strong, and she asks if she was obnoxious. He says, direct. He’s wondering what else is going on in there. She says she hates to disappoint him, but what you see is what you get. He doubts that.

Maxie tells Peter that she and Lulu are in a decent place. He’s happy to hear that. Lulu is a lucky woman. Lulu appears, and asks if Peter has a minute. She says it’s kind of awkward, but Maxie will hear it soon enough. She asks if the chief investigative reporter position is still on the table.

Diane asks if Nina is sure. Nina says Valentin changed her office into a Moroccan holiday, bought ads to profess his love in the magazine, and bought Charlotte a horse so they could ride together. They were gestures. Diane says they had an effect. Nina says he lied so much, and condemned a small child to a lifetime of hell. No amount of love can overcome that. Diane says she still loves him, and Nina says, not enough. Diane asks if she can make an observation. Nina has told her some wonderful things he’s done, she’s shaking a little, and still hasn’t picked up the pen. She’s allowed to have reservations. She doesn’t have to go through with it. Diane can bill her for the meeting, and put it in a file; she can decide later. There’s no penalty for not signing. As someone who’s had a ringside seat for these things, there’s a special pain when you divorce someone you love. The breaking apart of two lives causes wear and tear on the heart. She tells Nina to be super certain it’s what she wants to do before she dives in. Nina signs, disappointing both Diane and I.

Curtis says he’s all about making Nina happy, but he doesn’t think they hold the same ticket. Valentin says he can find the one thing that will make her happier than anything. Curtis says, unless he found a new procedure to let her get pregnant… Valentin says he found her child. He doesn’t have a location or ID, but he knows she exists. Nina has a daughter. Curtis says she miscarried. Valentin says that’s what her mother wants her to believe, but she delivered. Curtis asks who told him, and he says, her mother. He had to drag it out of her, but she admitted it, and he believes it. The child doesn’t know she has a mother, and vice versa. Curtis can make that happen.

Margaux tells Drew about prosecuting someone she went out with in middle school. She thought it would be a conflict of interest, even though they only went together for all of seven hours. Her boss told her the discussion was a waste of time, and the case was a waste of court time. In the end, he caved, and took a plea deal of five years. Drew asks if she had no qualms about putting her first love in prison. She says it was her first conviction. He’ll always have a special place in her heart. She’s a DA first; everything else she does is second, although she’s passionate about baseball. He asks, what else? and she says, him first. What inspires his passion?

Peter tells Lulu the job is hers if she wants it. Lulu says, no hard feelings? and he says, none. Maxie says she can’t be serious. Lulu says circumstances changed. She realized a great opportunity. Chief investigative reporter would take her years anywhere else. Maxie says she’ll have to be with him all the time. She says she won’t; she’ll be gone on assignment. Peter says they’ll hardly see each other. Lulu says she’s doing this. She’s in.

Lucas asks Brad where the binkie is, and he says he just needed air. Alexis asks if he feels any better, and he says, for the first time since this went down, he feels hopeful that Wiley is going to stay with them. Lucas says, from his lips. They hug, and Alexis looks worried.

Julian is looking at his phone when Kim comes back. She says she needs to take a raincheck for lunch; a patient is in labor. She’s sorry about what Brad and Lucas are going through – and him. They can’t control the fate of their children. Sometimes all they can do is hope. She leaves, and he looks at the form on his phone again. He sees a phone number and calls it. He says, you don’t know me, but I think we should meet.

Tomorrow, Finn says now they’re all at risk, David asks what Kiki is waiting for, and Ryan says there’s a dangerous man loose in Port Charles.

The Real Housewives of New York City – The Reunion – Part One

Carole says reunions are group therapy and torture. Ramona says she’s calm, but things can change quickly. Bethenny says she’s like the mother of dragons, fighting multiple blondes. I gasp when I see Bethenny’s dress. She looks like a princess. All of the dresses are beautiful, although I’m not quite as crazy about Carole’s. I’m just not into her style.

Andy welcomes us to the season ten reunion, where they’re putting a bow on a gift of a season. Sonja is wearing one of her own dresses, and I have to mention, she has very pretty things for sale at very reasonable prices. No surprise, Dorinda is wearing Jovani. Just so she can say it again. LuAnn couldn’t be there, since she’s back in rehab – which sux – but Andy says they still have an incredible season to talk about.

Bethenny says her apartment exceeded expectations, and it’s like a home in the city. Avery moved out, so Ramona has listed her apartment for sale. Andy asks Carole the latest about her and Adam. He says at the end it was confusing; Adam was sending her tulips. Carole says they’re friends, but don’t get coffee. Tinsley got a haircut. She was worried it would make her feel older and fatter, but she feels younger and thinner. Yes, Tinsley, when you hit a certain age, long hair just makes you look like you’re trying to look younger. Unless you’re Crystal Gayle. Dorinda has been working out. She thought if Carole could do a marathon, she could get her lazy ass up, and she got a trainer. Sonja tells us that she’s a pescatarian, someone who doesn’t eat meat, but eats fish.

We look back over the fashion during the season. Ugh! Dorinda’s Lady Gaga bubble dress. That so did not work for me. And LuAnn’s Diana Ross wig. Ha-ha-ha! Andy asks about it. Bethenny says her dog had died that day, and she didn’t even notice. Carole says LuAnn is tone deaf when it comes to racial stereotypes. They agree she looked darker on TV. Andy asks about best and worst Halloween costume. Dorinda says hers was both – she lost all her bubbles by the end of the night. We find out Lady Gaga’s mother goes to Dorinda’s church.

We discuss Bethenny’s disaster relief. We see a clip of her getting an award, and clips from Puerto Rico. We flash back to Bobby’s funeral, and the Halloween party. The nutcracker incident is relived. Dorinda gets annoyed all over again. We see Ramona giving Bethenny the business, and her calling Bethenny out about not supporting women in the finale. Andy asks Bethenny about reconnecting with Jill. It was a surprise to Bethenny too. She says she knew she wouldn’t regret going, but would regret not going. It brought back memories, and Jill approached her afterward. Since then, they’ve been texting. Ramona thought it was bizarre that Bethenny asked them to film it. Andy says they were invited by Jill. Dorinda finds it morbid. Andy squashes that. He brings up Bobby not being able to fix things between them, and Bethenny tells him that everyone at the funeral said Bobby would never say no to Jill, but Jill told her he refused to fix their relationship. That was something she had to do for herself, but in the end, he did fix it, since it was at his funeral that they reconciled. We flash back to when their relationship deteriorated. Ramona says she thought it was opportunistic, and not genuine. Sonja says that’s not how Jill feels. Bethenny says it’s not about Ramona, and the important thing is Jill was happy. Dorinda asks if they’ve had lunch. Bethenny says, no, and Dorinda says, no cameras. Bethenny says Jill is making an effort, and she’s dipping her toe in the water. Ramona makes it about her. Andy says Jill has been dating a guy who used to date Ramona. There probably aren’t many guys Ramona hasn’t dated.

Andy asks what was it about Puerto Rico that spoke to Bethenny? She seemed immersed in it. She says seeing it moved her. She thanks all of them for donating. Love her or hate her, she’s grateful. This prompts Dorinda and Carole to start a big thing, saying they don’t hate her. Ramona says Bethenny doesn’t like to say anything positive, but if they say one negative thing, she gets mad. Bethenny says Ramona has only been nasty to her. We flash back to the Singer Stinger. Omg, I always forget what a nut she is. Ramona says Bethenny ends up alone because she’s a mean girl and a bully. Bethenny says she doesn’t want to talk to her. Andy wants to talk about the nutcracker.

Dorinda says Bethenny freaked out when it arrived, but she didn’t feel appreciated. She says she wished Bethenny had been more gracious. She and Carole insist Bethenny knew it was coming. Bethenny says Dorinda called when they were still in the Berkshires, and the guy said he had it. Everyone talks over Bethenny, and Andy wants to hear her effing answer. Bethenny says they were all in the text, and she has several texts and sent video of her daughter. Why is it about Dorinda and not her daughter? Dorinda says it’s called being gracious.

A viewer asks why Bethenny was condescending about Ramona’s skincare line. Bethenny says since the show began, Ramona has had at least ten business ventures that went nowhere. Currently, she’s still feverishly working on it. The products don’t exist. Bethenny claims Ramona criticizes Sonja for fake businesses, and Ramona says Bethenny was the one who did. I do remember that. We flash back to Bethenny saying Sonja’s businesses aren’t real, and they all start talking at once again, going you, you, you. Ramona can’t take Bethenny’s lies. Sonja accuses Ramona of stirring the pot from the beginning. Bethenny doesn’t think it’s ethical to make women think it’s that easy. She keeps saying she’s a maven of everything, and she’s not. Ramona says she put herself through college; not like Bethenny, who had a rich father. Andy asks the status of Ramona’s products, and she says, they’re in formulation. Uh-huh. She wants to know why Bethenny can’t support her? She’s a bitch to her, and should take a mirror. Whatever that means. Ramona says she supported Bethenny. Sonja tries to interject, and Ramona puts her hand over Sonja’s mouth. That’s so disrespectful, and I can’t believe no one said anything.

Ramona continues to babble, and tells Bethenny, don’t say she’s fake with her fake t*ts. We’re all like, huh? since Ramona clearly has been enhanced. Ramona says she did it at fifty-five, while Bethenny was thirty – like this matters. Andy asks why Ramona freaked on the phone call to Bethenny. She says Bethenny said she was enjoying Bethenny and Carole not being friends, and she felt terrible that they weren’t friends. Dorinda says Ramona wasn’t happy about it. Ramona says she doesn’t know what happened in Bethenny’s life, but doesn’t see things for what they are. Bethenny tells Ramona that she’s critical. If line is really happening, Bethenny is sorry she didn’t congratulate her.

Andy says refused to take Ramona on; why not acknowledge her? Bethenny says, it was LuAnn’s night. She didn’t want an altercation with Ramona. Carole asks, why not just say congratulations? Bethenny tells Carole to butt out, and she’ll call her when she needs her. Bethenny agrees her delivery isn’t the best. Andy says everyone weirdly winds up going to Bethenny when they’re going through big things. Ramona broke down about Mario in Turks and Caicos. Dorinda was crying to her about LuAnn on the island. We flash back to those times. Dorinda says when Bethenny is on, she’s on. She really shows an interest. Carole says she zeros in, and Dorinda says everyone has been supportive to her.

Dorinda is up next, and we flash back to her finest, and not so fine, moments. Dude, just refrain from drinking on camera and you’ll be okay, but when more than one person calls you a donkey, it’s time to check for the ears. Dorinda wants to be clear. She thinks LuAnn should apologize to her. Andy asks if Bethenny thinks Dorinda is a drunk or has a drinking problem. Dorinda says Bethenny doesn’t know her life, and suggests she be careful. Bethenny says she’s been through one intervention this week. Dorinda doesn’t believe Bethenny thinks she’s a drunk, but she was angry because Dorinda got drunk. She says what Bethenny said was hurtful, and she was blindsided. She was excited and super proud to be going to Puerto Rico. Andy rephrases, and asks if Bethenny thinks Dorinda has a drinking problem. Bethenny says she’s not qualified to make that call. Dorinda says Bethenny has no business labeling people. If she thought Dorinda was in trouble, she should have told Dorinda to stay home. Bethenny says she didn’t know how drunk Dorinda was. She had seen her manage to get through dinners before, and wasn’t focusing on her. Bethenny says she was the one who called attention to it in a constructive way. Carole says it’s not constructive to call someone a drunk on TV. Bethenny says it’s not constructive to call someone narcissistic, but it hasn’t stopped Carole from saying that about her multiple times. Carole says she calls it like she sees it. Bethenny says, so does she.

Andy says they’ve watched over a period of years, Dorinda getting to the point where she gets wound up. Sometimes it’s funny, like her toast to LuAnn on the boat – we watch it again – but thee are times like when she cut her hand. We see a clip of Dorinda telling Bethenny that she sliced her hand open with her cutlery – or when she says things she regrets the next day. We see a few of those. He asks if she thinks she has a relationship with alcohol that’s sometimes unhealthy. Dorinda says she even said at the time, she wasn’t in a good place. She was very unhappy last fall, and thinks she was depressed. She didn’t know her place, and felt heavy in all ways. She had to look at that, and what happened with Bethenny. Something had to give. Bethenny says, it didn’t. She saw Dorinda drinking in the morning. Dorinda says Bethenny does the same thing. Bethenny asks if she wants to compare histories. Ramona announces none of them are drunks. Dorinda thanks them for their inspiration and support. She’s in a good place now. Bethenny has bashed her in every interview that she could. Dorinda hasn’t said one mean thing. Bethenny disagrees. Andy asks if Dorinda doesn’t think she has a problem with alcohol, totally ignoring her having moved on from that topic.

Next time – Part Two – more on Dorinda’s drinking, some on LuAnn’s drinking, Tinsley’s relationship with Scott is discussed, Dorinda yells Jovani! Dorinda’s heckling is on the table, as well as Carole’s blog, and poop.

🍰 MasterChef traveled to one of oldest airbases, March Air Reserve Base, to celebrate their 100th anniversary. The contestants had to make one hundred plates to feed the troops, after dividing into two teams. Cesar was captain of the red team, and Emily, the blue. Gordon switched things up by having the team members pick their captain. Gordon yelled at Samantha about how she was cutting the asparagus, which ticked her off, since she’d already argued with Cesar about it. Emily got a lecture about incinerating pork chops. The air force parachuted in, invading the kitchen. Cesar’s team made steak, while Emily’s was pork chops. A raw pork chop was discovered, as well as a hair in the steak. A skydiver declared the winner by landing on a red or blue square. At first, we thought blue was the winner, until a second skydiver landed on red. Gordon said it was extraordinary. For the first time in the history of MasterChef, there was a tie. The judges made the final decision, and it was the red team by a narrow margin. Their presentation put them over the top. Gordon described the pressure test as an extremely technical multilayered culinary classic – black forest cake. It was foodgasm time, and the cake was to die for. Emily said baking was her wheelhouse. She had to decide between picking one person to go up against, and saving three others, or saving only herself. She said being safe was the best feeling in the world, but her thought her skills would keep her safe, and chose going head to head with Shanika. Emily put her cake in the glass chiller before its time, and it fell over. Since they were both Joe’s people, she was concerned about disappointing him. I loved how the judges looked at the cakes, like they were examining slides under a microscope. Emily’s ratio of cake to cream between the layers was off, but her addition of extra cocoa powder paid off in flavor. Shanika got the layers right, but Joe thought it tasted like chocolate pound cake. Gordon said it was probably the most difficult and stressful 75 minutes of their lives. The judges had little room to decide, and had to dissect each element. Emily was sent home, and Shanika said David beat Goliath. I’ll bet Emily was sorry about deciding to go for the challenge. Joe quoted Churchill, saying, success is not final, and failure is not fatal; it’s the courage to continue that counts. Emily said she comes from a small town, and to be in the MasterChef top ten was a dream experience. It added to passion for food, which will continue to grow.

The mystery box contained something different for each cook – peaches, lobster, clams, corn, butternut squash, potatoes, cranberries, venison, and duck – nine American ingredients that the country was built on. They had forty-five minutes, and could make any dish, as long as their ingredient was the star. They were also allowed to use THE PANTRY. The mentors spent time with the cooks, which we really haven’t seen much of before. Joe told Gerron that his peach whatever tasted like home, and his grandmother’s kitchen. I couldn’t think of a better compliment. I grew up eating what I called “Depression food.” My father made all kinds of soups and stews with ingredients kids today would never eat. My favorite was neck bone soup. It is so tasty, and I tried to make it myself once. It was good, but just not the same, and they hit the nail on the head – it needed to taste like home. Aaron pleaded with Farhan to lay off the coconut milk. Gerron’s peach dish was the winner, and I think my money is on him now. He was safe, and got to pick the teams for the tag team challenge, which was to make the perfect platter of Mediterranean food. I’m not crazy about feta cheese, but Trader Joe’s makes the best tomato/feta cheese soup. It’s like tasting a grilled cheese sandwich inside the soup. Just sayin’. Farhan said tag teams bring out the worst in people, and he was right. They had sixty minutes, and did not get to use THE PANTRY, but got a set amount of ingredients. Gerron was pleased with strategy, and thought his devious plan would work. Cesar and Bowen were safe right away, followed by Farhan and Ashley. Gordon said Shanika and Emily’s effort was unbalanced and fragmented, but they squeaked by. Taylor and Julia lacked direction and ownership, and the fundamental flaws in their dishes were unacceptable for being in the top nine. Only Taylor got the boot though, with Gordon saying Julia had done 85% of the work. He told Taylor to continue her food dream. Then it was the part where everyone cries while they wave goodbye, but you know they’re all glad it’s not them. Taylor was thankful for the opportunity, and grateful for Gordon’s mentoring. She was sad to go, but proud of who was walking out. She was a stronger person and home cook than when she walked in, and closer to her culinary dream of opening a restaurant. She was excited about what lies ahead. Joe’s advice to the remaining contestants was if they couldn’t stand the heat of the top eight, they’ll soon be out of the kitchen. That’s more like a fortune cookie than advice, but okay. Next time, another two-hour episode. The cooks serve firefighters, and transform trash into treasure.

🏥 Paging Doctor In-Your-Face…

Married to Medicine: How They Got Here airs Sunday, August 26th, at 10 pm. I might check it out, but I rarely watch the show anymore. I watched the first couple of seasons, but it fell by the wayside when I started feeling embarrassed for them. I just kept thinking, these are professionals; why? I was hoping for something more like Blood, Sweat and Heels, but got something closer to Jerry Springer. I like a good hair pulling as much as the next Housewife viewer, but I have my limits. I do like Dr. Jackie, the voice of reason, but I’m actually surprised she even knows these people.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

The Walking Dead

King Ezekiel says they’re coming – bloodthirsty rogues and cutthroats, bent on their destruction – yet he smiles. The Kingdom tromps trough the woods. Ezekiel notes that Carol smiles. They keep walking, Ezekiel leading them like a bloodhound. They hear whistling, and raise their hands as they’re approached by Saviors. Carol says they have the numbers, but we have the strategy. Suddenly, there’s a gun battle, with the Saviors being the losers. Ezekiel says it brings hope to the heart, maybe unwisely. Keep to their plan and training, and the fates may smile and allow this dream. They won’t lose, not one of their ranks. Ezekiel walks among the dead Saviors. He tells Carol, not one. Shiva growls.

Morales tells Rick, guns down. He remarks that this whole time it was him. Rick tells him the fight is out there; it’s just him in there. Morales says he knows who Rick is, and it wasn’t any blast from the past to see him. They both came from there to here. He calls Rick a monster. He called the Saviors back because Rick is a prize, Morales asks why he’s there? Why is there always a guy willing to rush in; why? What’s Rick looking for? He says Rick has nothing to say, even though he’s not giving Rick a chance to say anything, and just keeps barraging him with questions. Morales says it doesn’t matter. What’s left is coming to get him. Whether they get him to Negan or not, his sh*t is going to be settled. He calls Rick “peaches,” and I wonder if that’s Rick’s stripper name.

Outside, the battle goes on. God forgive me, someone falls, and I laugh. Some Saviors run back inside. Lots of shooting is still happening, and a little feeding as the dead rise.

Aaron gets Eric to a tree out of the line of fire. Aaron says there’s an exit wound, so that’s good. He’ll get Eric to the Kingdom’s doctor. He tells Eric he’s sorry. Eric asks if he’s the one who shot him. Aaron says pulled Eric into it when he didn’t want to fight. Eric says, until he did. He tells Aaron to go and help the others; they need him. Aaron starts to cry. Eric says Aaron knows he loves him, and tells Aaron to get back to the fight; they can win this thing. Aaron says we will, and tells Eric he loves him and always has. He leaves, giving Eric a gun.

On the road, Jesus’s group walks on, with the Savior prisoners tied together by a rope. One of the soldiers tells Tara they’ll take the Savior prisoners back to Maggie; she’ll know what to do with them. Tara says she knows what they did. Walking next to Morgan, Jared starts whistling, and Morgan pokes him with the staff. I’d do that on a good day if he started that whistling next to me. Jesus says it’s not far to Hilltop; they’ve made the decision. Morgan insists nothing has been decided, and Jesus says nothing is permanent, but they’re taking the Saviors to Hilltop. Morgan says he knows how dangerous this is, and who these people are. Jesus tells him no matter what they’ve done, they’re people. He and Morgan have killed, but they don’t execute. Morgan says, not here.

Rick asks Morales if his family is there, but Morales says they didn’t make it to Birmingham. Rick says he’s sorry; he’s lost people too – Lori, Shane, Andrea, Glenn. Negan killed Glenn; forced him to his knees and bashed in his head in front of his pregnant wife; Maggie is his widow. He asks if Morales is Negan too. Morales says he lost his family, and lost his mind, waiting to become nothing, and the Saviors found him. They thought he was worth a damn and worth bringing back, so yeah, he’s Negan. To make it this far for this long, there has to be something. Morales says they’re the same; two a-holes, doing whatever they have to, to keep going. The only difference is that he’s the one holding the gun. That makes him luckier. If it was Rick holding the gun, his brains would already be on the floor. Rick tells Morales that he doesn’t know that. He wouldn’t want to, and would do the best he could to try and find another way. Morales thinks he can talk all he wants, but they’re all dead. Somewhere along the way, Officer Friendly died with them, just like he did.

Rick says, no, and Daryl shoots Morales in the back with his crossbow before Rick can protest. Rick says Daryl didn’t know who it was, but Daryl says, it don’t matter. He asks if Rick found guns, and Rick says the guns aren’t there. They gotta get out before –

Too late. They’re here.

Jared says there’s something different about Morgan. It’s his armor, like it shrunk. He realizes it’s Benjamin’s armor, and asks why Morgan would wear it, since the kid didn’t do sh*t for him. Morgan points the staff at Jared, but their altercation is interrupted by zombies rolling down the hill next to them, and landing in the road. There’s a wide variety, some barely more than skeletons. More zombies roll down, and a bunch of Saviors start running, but it’s awkward when you’re tied together.

Some of the Saviors run into the woods. Morgan tails them. One of them falls, Morgan catches up, and shoots another one. Jesus stops him from shooting any more. Morgan tells him the Saviors are never going to change, and Jesus says they’ll find another way; Maggie will. Morgan says she’ll want them dead after what they’ve done. Jesus says they’ll have to live with them after. They have to find a way to peace. He puts his hand on Morgan’s shoulder, and Morgan knocks Jesus back. They fight.

Ezekiel reminds his band that those they extinguished are just part of the compound. But their first victory will allow their second, and their second will deliver their third.

Daryl and Rick run through the building, getting shot at periodically. There’s a mini gun battle in the hallway.

Jesus and Morgan kick each other’s asses. Morgan tries to hit Jesus with his staff, but Jesus is pretty nimble, and does some amazing bobbing and weaving. Morgan finally gets a good whack in, but then Jesus drop kicks him. Morgan comes close to stabbing him with the pointy end of the staff.

Daryl says he’s out. Rick sees a fire extinguisher across the hall, and shoots it. The white stuff sprays all over the place, and while the Saviors are trying to get their bearings, Rick and Daryl grab the Savior’s guns, and jet the hell out.

Morgan and Jesus continue fighting. Ain’t nobody got time for this. They struggle over the staff, and Jesus gets the staff. He tosses it back to Morgan, and in gratitude, Morgan points it at Jesus’s throat. The rest of the group gets closer, and Morgan backs off. He says he’s not right, but that doesn’t make him wrong, which sounds like the title of a Tyler Perry movie. Morgan says he can’t be a part of this. Tara says he is right. Morgan picks up a gun, and strides off, looking at the bodies.

At Hilltop, Enid looks out and says, it’s him. Gregory bangs on the door, saying he needs help; he’s been through hell, and he knows they can hear him. Maggie opens gate a little bit, and asks what he’s doing with Gabriel’s car? Gregory says he doesn’t know Gabriel, and the car was there. He says he lives there, adding that some of them didn’t just show up, which is probably the wrong thing to say to Maggie right now. She says he sold out, and he says he tried to save lives; it was Negan who made him say horrible things. He went to the Saviors, furthering diplomacy. Some people would call it heroic. Maggie says he was looking out for himself, and tried to betray them. Gregory tells her that he caused no harm; Negan already knew everything. Maggie tells him goodbye, and he says okay, he was scared. He knew they couldn’t win a fight against Negan, but didn’t want to be seen as complicit. He sees now that he can’t be reasoned with.

She starts to walk away, and he says he made a mistake, and he’s sorry. They’re all just human beings with faults, flaws, and fears. Is this who she is? Has she no mercy, humanity, or charity? He asks her to open the gate, and open her heart. Don’t leave a human out to die. Maggie turns around, and says, let him in. He’s not worth killing, not yet anyway. Gregory says he’s a believer now. Cal calls down that Jesus is here. Gregory tells her not to let him in with the Saviors; she’ll put their safety in jeopardy. She says, Gregory, go! like he’s a dog.

Maggie wonders what they’ll do with the Saviors, and Jesus says there are empty trailers out back that they can be locked in. He says they surrendered. They can’t let them go, but they can’t kill them.

Back at the outpost, the shooting is over, but the dead who have turned are feeding. Daryl starts killing the new zombies off, and Rick takes Polaroids. Wtf? They load their wounded into a truck, and clean up as best they can. What’s with Rick taking photos? Did Instagram survive the apocalypse? He writes a note.

Aaron goes back to the tree, but Eric is gone. He sees the gun on the ground, and calls out to him. There’s a lot of blood at the base of the tree. He looks across the road, and sees Eric ambling toward his new people, the undead. Aaron cries, and one of the group takes his arm, saying, it’s not him. He leads Aaron away.

Rick brings out the baby. Aaron says he’ll take her to Hilltop, where she’ll be safe. He and Eric were going there to update Maggie. Yep, babysitting a newborn ought to take his mind off his troubles. Rick gives him the baby, saying her name is Gracie. (Last week, on Talking Dead, Andrew Lincoln had said the baby would be fine.)

Rick sees Daryl, and they’re about to confer, when someone shoots at them. They duck and hide. Rick calls out, saying they’re alone, and he knows the shooter is too. There’s not enough room behind the tree for more than one. He says a herd is coming – just sayin’. They can make a deal. Drop the gun and come out. Tell them what they need to know, take the car, and live. Todd’s voice asks why he should trust them. Rick says he gives Todd his word. There’s isn’t much that’s worth anything anymore, but a man’s word should mean something. Todd comes limping out, and asks what they want to know. Rick asks about the guns. Todd says the guns aren’t there. They had them for a while, and they were sent to another outpost yesterday. Rick asks which one, and Todd says McGavin (I think), west of there. He asks if he can go now, and Daryl shoots him. Geez.

Ezekiel is still smiling. Everyone is accounted for, and he smiles even more broadly. He tells Carol, not one. She tells them to sweep the compound. Ezekiel says, we or they; one or the other. She heads toward the buildings, and Ezekiel suddenly yells, scatter! Gunfire comes from the tower window.

The Kingdom people drop like flies. Several of them block King Ezekiel from getting hit, at the expense of their own lives.

Next time, Ezekiel says they face a dire challenge; they will fight and they will bleed – lives hang in the balance. Carol is captured.

👱 Didn’t want this, but I’m starting to understand what’s on the menu now. We can hide like these people, we can keep trying to serve The Saviors, and I can watch you get randomly beaten every so often, or else we can fight. So, here we are. And being with you, well it makes abject terror tolerable. – Eric to Aaron

🍑 The Real Housewives of Atlanta started its new season tonight, along with Married to Medicine, but I decided to take a break from these shrews women. My real life, such as it is, has been extra busy lately, so if I watch these, it will be in a half-assed way, like while I’m doing three other things. I did catch most of Atlanta tonight. Kenya claimed to have gotten her fairytale ending, having gotten married over the break, and showed off her gorgeous ring, as well as pictures of the ceremony. Are they divorced yet? Phaedra got fired over the litigious accusations she made about Kandi last season. We’re still stuck with Porsha though. She now has a podcast, where she says she’s unplugged and unedited. If she considers herself plugged and edited on this show, I can’t imagine. I did a double-take when, after being told men could father children at any age, Porsha thought the children might come out looking old. Seriously, is this an act? No one can be this stupid, right? Right? NeNe now has a store that carries clothing for “women who eat, and women who don’t eat.” Cynthia is fifty, single, and alone. Don’t cry for me, Argentina. She’s fabulous and has a home on a lake that looks like it’s out of a magazine. Sheree hasn’t been interesting since her who gonna check me, boo? days. She said she doesn’t want to have bad energy around her, and I have some advice. Leave. Now. Kandi is busy with the baby and the OLG restaurant. And her new show, Xscape: Still Kickin’ It, that premiered after Atlanta. It’s a limited (I think six part) gig, so catch it while you can.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Julian meets Olivia-J at the bar and tells her that his family is officially off limits. I actually don’t get why he doesn’t just turn her in. It would solve all of his problems, and possibly make him a hero.

At the hospital, Jason and Sam talk about Ava. Jason says he’s tempted to let it go, since she killed Connie, but Sam says the person who did it might still be wandering around. She suggests a birthing class distraction, but it’s been canceled.

Elizabeth cleans up after the meeting at her house. She texts Franco, saying she’s glad he’s on their side and good luck.

Franco walks in on Kiki and Dillon, and announces without art there is no life. He says he was ready to be a James Bond for the cause, but got fired instead.

Olivia-F thanks Ned for a wonderful Valentine’s Day. He says it doesn’t have to be over, and asks her to spend the night. She says she can’t. She doesn’t feel comfortable around his family. He wonders why she’s intimidated by a pack of lunatics, and she says she’s not intimidated, but feels like she doesn’t belong. Tracy comes in calling a family meeting, and tells Olivia to skedaddle.

Finn doesn’t want to diagnose Anna until he’s sure. Nina walks into Anna’s room as Valentin is telling her she’s safe with him. Nina walks back out. Anna wakes up, and asks what’s happening and why Valentin is there. He says she’s in the hospital, and he was worried. She says she’s fine, and he needs to leave.

Valentin sees Nina at the desk. She asks what was he doing in Anna’s room, holding her hand?

Commercial break with important information. Once Upon a Time begins again on Sunday, March 5th.

Ned tells Tracy that he and Olivia-F have plans, but Tracy says something has come up that needs his attention immediately. He says Olivia is staying, but Tracy says no outsiders. Ned says if he wants her to stay, she’s staying. Tracy goes off to find the rest of the family. Ned tells Olivia that he not only considers her part of his family, he’s not ready for the night to end.

An orderly explains about the sickout to Sam, saying she didn’t hear it from him. Michael calls Jason, and tells him about the family meeting. He says he knows Jason hates getting dragged in, but he could use the back-up. Jason tells Sam about it, and she says he should go. Sam wants to get barbecue anyway. ♫ Baby back, baby back, baby back ribs. ♫

Kiki tells Dillon sorry about the interruption, but he says Franco hardly seemed to notice. Dillon gets a call from Tracy, summoning him to the meeting. He tells Kiki that there’s a Quartermaine emergency, and it seems that it’s life or death.

Julian tells Olivia-J that it’s only a matter of time before she gets the hospital. He wants to make sure when she’s finished with him, it’s for good.

Alexis’s doorbell rings. It’s a flower delivery.

Nina tells Valentin that she thought something happened to him, and finds him comforting Anna. He says he tried sending a follow up text. Nina says she was scared, and he suggests they go elsewhere. On the way into the elevator, he plucks a bloom out of someone else’s bouquet.

Finn tells Griff that he needs to talk to Anna about the next steps. Griff asks if he’s up to it. Finn asks if Griff wants someone else to do it, but Griff says he knows that Finn will give Anna the best possible care. They go into Anna’s room, and she asks when she can go. Finn says they want to keep her overnight, and she asks about the tests.

Julian says he’s done everything that Olivia-J wanted, and once the hospital deal is done, he wants them to be finished. Olivia agrees, but says he hasn’t held up his end of the deal.

Valentin and Nina go to the suite she booked, and he tells her how lovely everything is. She says it was lovely last night. Valentin asks if he can pour champagne, and Nina tells him only if it comes with an explanation. He tells her about dropping Charlotte off, and how he’d forgotten something at the house. When he came back, he found Anna breaking in, and then she collapsed. Nina says he could have called 911, but he’s a decent man to be so helpful to her. He says he doesn’t know why she won’t let go of the past, and Nina says Anna claims it’s the other way around.

Finn tells Anna about the blood clot. He says they were able to remove it, and Griff adds that they still have to find out what caused it. Finn questions her about the headaches, and says before he makes a prognosis, he’d like to do a bone marrow biopsy.

Franco wonders what he interrupted, and Kiki says oh, he did notice. He says it was hard to ignore. She asks him what happened at the hospital, and he says there’s no room in the budget for art therapy. He tells her that Elizabeth doesn’t like being away from her patients, but she feels like she should make a stand, and he can’t tell her that he got fired.

Everyone arrives at the Quartermaine mansion for the meeting. Tracy says they have to wait for Michael. In the hallway, Michael tells Jason about Ava being arrested, and how his mom said he isn’t convinced. Jason says he’s not, but can’t say for sure. Tracy comes out and rounds up the stragglers. Ned asks why they’re having a meeting. Tracy says GH is in danger of being sold for condos, and if something isn’t done quickly, it will close. She tells them that ELQ is going to buy the hospital.

The flowers are a replica of Alexis’s wedding bouquet from Julian. Alexis reads the card and flashes back to the wedding. The doorbell rings. Busy today. It’s Julian. He says sorry to come unannounced, but he needed to see her; he has something for her. She says she got the flowers, and he asks if she remembers carrying them. She says they’re lovely, but wonders why he sent them, since she’s not going to forget what he’s done. He says he doesn’t expect her to. She asks why he’s there, and he says she’ll get an explanation about everything.

Kiki tells Franco that Elizabeth will understand. Franco says their relationship is at a new level. He gets the text from Elizabeth, and wonders how he’s going to tell her that he’s unemployed and failed her. Kiki says love is about taking the good with the bad, and he has to trust Elizabeth.

Sam drops off Jake’s science project at Elizabeth’s house. She tells Elizabeth about the canceled class. She says she was hoping for a refresher course, but the employees have the right to fight. She wonders if she should make an alternative plan as to where she’s giving birth.

Tracy says they’re buying the hospital and going to run it. Ned asks Michael how he feels. Michael says the deal is doable, and if it’s the only way to move forward, he’s in. Dillon asks if the board members are going to be cool, and Tracy says they have enough investments to stay liquid. Jason says they’ll want a profit though, and they might end up having to turn low-income patients away. Michael says that in the long run, the hospital could end up the same position again. Olivia-F says they overlooked something; if ELQ can’t buy it, they should buy it themselves.

Finn tells Anna that the surgery is minimally invasive, and it will help him to see what they’re dealing with better. Griff says he’ll stay with her, and Anna agrees. Finn goes to schedule it, and grips the desk.

Valentin apologizes to Nina, saying he couldn’t have predicted the turn the evening took. Nina says he was being a good Samaritan. He says he didn’t tell her why he went back to the house. He shows her the ring, and says they’ve done everything backward in their relationship. He asks if she’ll do him the honor, and she says she will. He puts the ring on her finger, and they kiss.

Julian gives Alexis a key to a safe deposit box, and tells her his will is in there. She asks why he’s getting his affairs in order.

Elizabeth tells Sam that the sickout is preemptive, and hopefully, everything will be settled before she goes into labor. Franco comes to the door, and Sam gets ready to leave. After she’s gone, Elizabeth asks how the spying went. Franco says he has something to tell her that’s not good.

Olivia-F says not only are the Quartermaines skabillionaires, when the chips are down, they do what’s right. Michael says he could divert some cash from Morgan’s fund, and everyone comes up with what they could contribute. Tracy wonders what Edward would say, and Jason says he’d tell them it’s a worthy cause. His vote is yes, and he has to go. Ned asks Tracy, what now? and she says crunching numbers.

Finn sees some medication in cups for patients. He steals one. No meds for you, Mrs. Intraction.

Griff tells Anna that he was sure Valentin did something to her. She says he caught her breaking into his house. She wanted to plant a bug to find out more about him and if he has a grudge against her.

Valentin tells Nina that he loves her. He didn’t expect it, or her, to come into his life and change everything. She knows she should say it back, but she’s afraid. Every time she’s said it, it’s the start of losing someone. He says she won’t lose him; he’s not a fool. They get busy.

Franco tells Elizabeth that the whole budget for the art department was cut . Elizabeth says that she knows how invaluable art therapy can be, and how much he enjoyed it. She says they’ll fight for his job too, and hopefully find another way to make ends meet. Whatever happens they’ll make it work

Alexis says first Julian sends a replica of her wedding bouquet, and now he’s getting his affairs together. She wants an explanation.

Olivia-F says she has assets too, and Tracy adds that she’s not afraid to use them. Ned thinks they have enough, and Tracy says they’re on their way to owning GH.

Sam meets Jason, who’s looking at the picture of Julian at the Chinese food pawn remedy shop. He wonders if it’s not Ava, then who? When he goes to wash up, Sam uses Spyder Finder to look up Olivia-J, who is sitting at the next table. You mean to tell me there’s no photo?

Elizabeth tells Franco that if something affects one of them, it affects both of them. Franco likes it. They kiss. He says one good thing about being out of work is spending more time together.

Ned calls Olivia-F a genius. He says Valentine’s Day didn’t end as romantically as he’d hoped, but she says it was perfect.

Dillon calls Kiki saying he’s significantly less wealthy than when she last saw him, and hopes she enjoys dates of donuts and coffee.

Monica is happy that GH is off the auction block. Ned says that when Tracy said Olivia-F wasn’t family, he realized that she is.

Jason gets back to the table. Sam tells him that she was looking into rescheduling the birthing class. Olivia-J slips out after standing at the doorway and staring at them for like, ten minutes.

Julian says that Alexis has to trust that he can’t tell her. She asks if he’s going to be arrested. He says no, this is because he loves her. He’s given the bank instructions as to when she can access the box. He tells her that if something happens to him or she doesn’t hear from him, to read the letter. He leaves her looking perplexedly at the key.

Nina and Valentin bask in the after glow, and Nina admires her ring. She says they missed the step where she dazzled him with her lingerie, but she did get a suite with tub for two. He says that sounds wonderful, and she leaves him to run the bath water. Valentin calls the hospital and checks on Anna’s condition.

Griff tells Anna it will be fine, and tells her to get some rest. Outside, he calls Robin and leaves a message for her to call back immediately. It’s about her mom.

Anna tells herself it’s fine, and probably just a vitamin deficiency.

Finn is feeling a lot better. Griff thanks him. Griff says his bedside manner needs work, but he was great with Anna. Feeling a little too much better, Finn says he’s a great doctor. Griff says Anna means a lot to him, and Finn says he’ll do everything he can to get her well. Griff says they were right not to tell her that she might have cancer.

On Monday. Sonny talks to Jason about Nelle, Robin returns, and Ned wants to ask Olivia-F to marry him.

💉 Lots of shade and sparkles on the Married to Medicine reunion. Absolutely nothing new was said, although next week, the husbands join in, which might make things interesting. Toya had a train on her dress to rival a bride, and Heavenly’s lowlights were truly heavenly. Mariah (who has such beautiful eyes, I wish she had played them up more) and Heavenly wore the same earrings and shoes, causing Mariah to return barefoot and earringless after one of the breaks. This created one of the most intriguing moments in any reunion ever. At one point, Mariah called Heavenly the “messiest bitch on the stage,” and she was suddenly wearing her earrings again. What up wit dat? Methinks some sloppy editing. I’m also now wondering in what context the messy bitch comment was actually made, since it had obviously happened prior to that moment. The predominant feeling I had through the entire show was the urge to swipe the smirk off of Lisa Nicole’s face.

Quotes of the Week

Put that in your pipe and smoke it. – The Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith), Downton Abbey – I know she didn’t invent that quote, but it sounded pretty darn funny coming from her.

I love a stray thought.Scott Pelley, anchor, CBS News, and he ought to know, since he’s had a few.

The real role models are the guy who goes and puts his life on the line for his country, the police officer who jumps in front of a bullet, and the EMT who treats the wounded on the scene, people who put others before themselves. Those are the true celebrities. – Benghazi survivor and former Army Ranger, Kris Paronto

February 10, 2017 – GH’s Nurses Prepare to Strike, Random TV Thoughts & a Quote Quartet

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Hayden practices firing people by talking to a CPR dummy with a staff photo stuck to its head. Tracy doesn’t think it should be too hard.

Epiphany gets the nurses together at the bar. Amy 2.0 asks if the doctors are going to be cut too, and mentions Finn. Elizabeth calls Felix, saying they need his voice of reason. I find it difficult to believe that these are all the nurses they have for a big hospital. There’s only about seven of them. Are they recruiting from other hospitals for the Nurses Ball?

Andre tells Jordan that he won’t be blind to what’s in front of him, and it’s not healthy for either of them. They need to break up. Jordan won’t accept that. She thinks they just need to put things in perspective. Andre says he sees things clearly now, and he doesn’t want it.

Olivia-J talks to Alexis about her stress level, and warns her not to turn to alcohol. Alexis says she’ll call if she gets in trouble. Sam walks in, and Alexis introduces them. Olivia says they were just talking about her.

Carly tells Dante that Sonny knows she’ll leave him if there’s more violence.

Jason tells Sonny that he’s in the clear, and Carly is waiting at home, but if he pulls the trigger, it’s all going away. Sonny says that Ava took his son from him, but Ava says she had nothing to do with it. Sonny brings up the recording, but Jason says he’s not sure that was Ava. Doesn’t Ava know there’s another sister? What is wrong with these people that they don’t know how many immediate family members they have?

Finn overhears Amy II, and asks why he’s a topic of conversation. Amy tries to backtrack by saying she said dorsal fin and they were talking about sharks. Bobbie tells him he walked in on a nurse’s committee meeting, and he’s been voted hottest doctor, causing him to extract himself from the conversation and pick up his take-out order. Epiphany moves to muzzle Amy. Elizabeth says they need to present a united front; Bobbie adds, and not panic. They go over the staff members who might have their backs.

Tracy tells Hayden that everyone on the list has to go, but Hayden says they should rethink things. Tracy thinks her romance with Finn has made her soft. Hayden suggests that Tracy do it herself. Tracy says that the hospital saved her life, but it won’t be saving anyone if it goes under.

Jordan can’t believe that Andre is going nuts over one kiss. She says she thought that they loved each other. He says they already spent a month apart because of Curtis, and what does he have to show for it? He tells her that he wants all or nothing. He thanks her for her honesty, and says she should do herself the same favor and admit he’s not the one.

Carly suggests to Dante that they call Jason, and says they have to be patient. Dante says he can’t wait any longer. Carly begs him not to call. His phone rings. It’s the station.

Ava wants to know what recording Sonny is talking about. Jason says there was no clear picture, they never heard the voice of who Julian was talking to, and too many things don’t fit. If Sonny kills the wrong person, he’ll tear his family apart. Sonny says they’re already torn apart, and Jason says they’re just healing. He’s sorry he couldn’t save Morgan, but the other kids need their father. He tells Sonny to hand over the gun and go home.

Olivia-J tells Sam that Alexis is always talking about her. Sam asks how they know each other, and Alexis says through a mutual friend. Sam says she forgot the book for Danny, and Olivia suggests she stay and chat with them. She says she knows they’ll get along famously. That would be enough to make me run in the other direction.

Sonny tells Jason that maybe things don’t add up for him, but Ava confessed. She begs to differ, and he asks why she said things went too far. She tells him that she never wanted Morgan to get hurt. Sonny says, but he did, and cocks the gun.

Andre says it’s not that he can’t forgive Jordan, but what’s the point? He’ll always be stuck wondering what’s in her head and heart, and if she’s thinking about Curtis or him. She asks if they can’t work through it. Her phone rings. She says something about the Jerome gallery and tells them to give it to Dante. When she turns around, Andre is gone, but her apartment key is on the desk.

Carly tells Dante that whatever is going to happen already did, so they should just wait for the fallout. His phone rings.  He says he’s on his way, but can’t tell Carly what it’s about.

Olivia-J asks Sam about Danny. Sam asks Olivia if she has a family of her own. Olivia says forces conspired to tear them apart. We flash back to Anna saying she’s going to kill Olivia, and wants her to feel the pain she’s caused others. Wow. We were all a lot younger then. The two of them look like children. Sam says she understands, and Olivia says Sam got a happy ending. Alexis says Olivia can too.

Felix gives Anna a prescription for her migraine. He asks if she wants to talk to anyone. She says no, then changes it to yes.

Finn sees Tracy, who asks him to install a backbone in Hayden.

Bobbie says they have to look at things from the hospital’s perspective, and the financial picture is grim. Epiphany says it can’t run without them, and they should go on strike.

Hayden continues to practice on the dummy with Bobbie’s picture on it. Finn comes into the office bearing food. She says it will give her the energy she needs to fire a third of the nurses. So that’s like two of them?

Elizabeth doesn’t think going on strike is the way to go. Epiphany says it’s time they beat them to the punch. She takes a vote. Everyone is in favor except Elizabeth.

Anna sees Andre, and says she thought he’d left for the day. He wonders why she’s there so late, and she explains that she was picking up a prescription. She tells him that ever since the confrontation with Valentin, she’s been doing research. She refuses to believe a man turns into a criminal over a rebuffed kiss. Andre says maybe it was a bigger deal to Valentin. Anna thinks it’s her, and that she may have committed other slights or wrongs. He asks if she remembers anything else. She says her memories are pretty clear now, and nothing says that Valentin was more than a friend. She’s had a lot of enemies, but he wasn’t one of them.

Olivia-J asks when Sam is due, and Sam tells her in a couple of weeks. Olivia doesn’t want to pry, but wonders if Sam is happy with her OB. She claims to be asking for a friend.

Sonny tells Ava that she can die with a clear conscience or just die. She swears on Avery’s life that she didn’t do it. Jason tells him Dante is on his way, and he can either make his family pay for his mistake, or do the right thing and let them figure out what’s really going on.

Jordan arrives at Sonny’s place and wants to see him. D’oh!

Dante shows up at the gallery, telling them that the silent alarm was triggered. He asks where his father is, and what’s going on.

Carly tells Jordan to come back tomorrow, but Jordan says she has news. Carly says Sonny has a hangover, and he’s sleeping it off. Jordan tells her to give him an aspirin, and he’ll feel better once he hears what she has to say. Sonny pops out of nowhere, and asks if he needs to call his lawyer. Jordan says the charges have been dropped.

Dante asks who wants to go first. Ava says she will, and tells Dante what happened, and that Sonny would have killed her if Jason hadn’t shown up. Jason says he has no idea what she’s talking about – it’s just been the two of them the whole time. Dante sees the gun, but wonders why Sonny would violate his bail. Ava says he’s insane, violent, and delusional. Dante asks why Jason is there, and he says he has evidence that she’s involved in Morgan’s death.

Olivia-J makes up a story about a friend who needs an OB, and Sam tells her who the doctor is. Olivia says she’ll pass the referral along, but it’s getting late and she has to go. She tells Alexis to call if she needs anything, and says it’s nice to put a face with Sam’s name. When she’s gone, Alexis says Sam doesn’t like her at all.

Finn tells Hayden that cutting nurses can’t be the way to do it. Hayden says if there was another way, she’d pick that. Finn says they’ll be angry at first, but they won’t hold her personally responsible. She says they will. He says she’s not alone, but she says Finn can’t be there with her. He says he will be in spirit. He says he’s given a lot of bad news to a lot of people, and maybe can walk her through this.

Felix joins the meeting. He thinks they should meet with Hayden, and work for a solution that doesn’t involve layoffs, but they can make concessions. Bobbie says it’s a great idea. Felix thinks Elizabeth should do the talking, since her sister is in charge.

Finn takes the place of the dummy and Hayden practices some more. She talks about the layoffs possibly being temporary, but Finn says it won’t do the nurses any good waiting around for something that might not happen. He says the cleaner she does it, the better it will be for them. She says she’s supposed to start tonight, and he says it’s better for them to hear it from someone who cares. She hopes Elizabeth understands. Elizabeth overhears.

Andre thinks Anna’s problem is better suited to a detective than psychiatrist. He asks if she has any leads, and she tells him about the other trainee. She says she doesn’t think they’ll be forthcoming though. Andre says he’d love to help, but can’t right now. She tells him that she didn’t mean to impose. He says he’s honored she’s asking, but he’s going through something personal and isn’t on his game. She asks what’s wrong, but he doesn’t want to talk about it. He tells her good luck and be careful.

Alexis asks Sam what her problem is with Olivia-J. Sam says she doesn’t have one, but Alexis says she does, and so does Julian. Sam says it’s nothing that Olivia did or didn’t do, but she seems like too much. Alexis makes some excuse for that, and says she’s been nothing but helpful.

Ava asks if she’s in the Twilight Zone, and says she had nothing to do with the bomb. Jason gives Dante the recording. He says Julian made it clear that his sister planted the bomb.

Jordan tells Carly and Sonny that a witness came forward, and explains about Buzz. She says she can’t get into specifics, but to let them handle it. She says as they build a case, she’ll give them the facts. Sonny asks about the monitor and how you get it off. Ha-ha! She tells him that it’s been deactivated and to come by the station to get it removed. Carly thanks Jordan. Jordan says it’s not the only reason she’s there. She wanted to tell them she’s sorry she can’t take away the misery, but hopes they can go forward in peace. Carly doesn’t know if possible, but thanks her. Jordan says she’s going to make sure whoever murdered Morgan pays. After she leaves, Carly asks Sonny wth?

The nurses ask Elizabeth how it went, and she says it didn’t. She asks where Amy Part Two is, and finds out she’s working the late shift.

Hayden says here goes nothing, and asks Amy to come to the conference room.

Elizabeth overheard Hayden practicing her speech, and says the board won’t negotiate. She says she’s in. Epiphany says tomorrow, they’re on strike.

Ava says Dante should arrest Sonny, and that she’s going to the mayor. Dante says they’ll sort it out at the station, and takes her out.

Sam tells Alexis that she can talk to her, but Alexis says that’s the idea of a sponsor, so you don’t have to unload on your family.

Carly asks if Sonny knows what he put her through, and she knows Brick must have helped him. Sonny asks if she wants to know what happened. She says she had to do backflips to get Dante not to arrest him, and asks why he left. She asks if he found out who killed Morgan, and he says he’s not sure. Carly says he seemed sure a while ago. He says he’s not in jail because she covered for him, and it means a lot to him. She says, more than revenge? Sonny tells her that he didn’t take revenge, because he wanted to come home and he loves her; isn’t that enough? She says it shouldn’t be, but he asks again if it is. She hugs him

Sam gets a call and says they’ll talk later. She tells Alexis that Dante has brought Ava in, and there’s evidence that she killed Morgan.

At the hospital, Olivia asks Finn for directions to obstetrics. Anna almost sees her.

On Monday. Lulu tries to apologize to Valentin, Jordan tells Julian that evidence was found to clear Sonny, and Carly threatens to kill Ava herself.

😈  Grimm and the Wesen still elude me. Now I remember it’s back on Fridays, but I forget that they changed the time from 9 to 8 pm. Thank God for On Demand.

♿  I’ve been catching Married to Medicine on the flipside. I’m actually embarrassed to say I watch this show because it’s one of those train wreck things. While I’m at it, I might as well admit I watched the Anna Nicole Smith show too. While this isn’t quite that bad, I guess I’d expected more. I don’t know why, but I’d assumed since they all have grown-up careers that they’d act like grown-ups. Nope. Didn’t happen. Dr. Jackie keeps trying to be the voice of reason, but that’s not happening either. This week was the season finale. The reunion looks scary.

💀 Don’t forget, The Walking Dead is back on Sunday, February 12 at 9 pm.

Quotes of the Week

Some of you like pickles. I get that. But you are not decent people, at least not if you think it’s OK for a restaurant to force pickles upon those of us whose stomachs turn at the mere sight or—worstly—smell of those squishy, acidic intruders. — Brian Hickey, The Philly Voice (My note: This does not reflect my personal view on pickles.)

I always think there’s something rather foreign about high spirits at breakfast. — Carson, Downton Abbey

It was the first time anyone had seen anything on TV other than TV, and I thought, wow, this is technology. — guy being interviewed on The Eighties, CNN docuseries

I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.Abraham Lincoln (My note: Or just beer.)

Now for Something Completely Different

While there are some Sunday night shows I’m watching, like The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Married to Medicine (see below), nothing is happening with the shows I’m blogging, so I thought I’d share a little Christmas humor.

In 1979, I was young, single, and living in NYC. I still went home for Christmas though, and a friend of mine stayed at my apartment in Manhattan that year to babysit my cat, Eric. (So named after Monty Python‘s Eric the Cat.) When I got back, I found this note. In explanation, my railroad flat was once a hotel room and had a decorative fireplace. And be forewarned, there are curse words ahead.

Christmas Eve, 1979

Dear Theresa,

Well, I was here! Where the hell were you?

After all the trouble I had getting here, too. Do you realize how goddamn hard it is to guide 8 reindeer through New York City? They all want to stop and look at the tall buildings and buy pretzels. They all bugged the hell out of me, trying to con me into taking them to Radio City.

Then, trying to land on that goddamn filthy roof of yours. Doesn’t anybody clean around here? There was so much fuckin’ pigeon shit around, Dancer slipped and almost ended up as flying venison.

Then I struggle and squeeze, and damn near burst my spleen trying to get down the chimney. I finally make it through – and you bricked up the fuckin’ fireplace!

I had to climb all the way back up to the roof, walk down the fire escape and get in through the front door. (If Jane didn’t leave your key for me – I wouldn’t have even gotten in!)

And then, do you think I could go up in the elevator? Oh no! I had to trudge up those cruddy stairs. Four whole flights I walked!

So I get in, finally. And where are you? Gone. I don’t even get the satisfaction of sneaking around so you don’t wake up. It’s the best part of being Santa Claus, goddamn it, and I couldn’t. If it weren’t for your crazy cat sleeping in the sink, it would have been a total loss.

By the way – do you know your cat is fencing stolen goods? I found a whole mess of TVs and stereos… well, never mind.

And the topper of it all. The thing that really, really burns me up is that you didn’t even leave me a goddamn glass of milk and a few lousy cookies! Nothing! I open the fridge and – nada! Not even a lousy j!

Thanks a heap, Theresa.

All in all, you really fucked me over, and don’t think I’m gonna forget it!

Santa Claus

P.S. Just stopped by on my way back from Ohio. So there you were! OK, all’s forgiven. But next time, drop me a note if you aren’t going to be in. You know my address. Merry Christmas.

🎅 Wherever you are, Jane Lindberg, you’re still making me laugh after almost 40 years.

👒 A quick note on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Kenya and Matt’s relationship seems to have taken a nosedive, which I find sad, since it looked like she’d found the right guy. Unfortunately, he’s shown a somewhat violent temper, and broke one of her garage door windows during an argument. Not a good sign. It’s hard to tell if they’ll end up working things out. I think it depends on whether or not Matt is willing to go to some kind of counseling. Kenya’s father has been a real champ though, supporting her all the way, and even trying to talk to Matt himself.

Phaedra is still the same self-righteous a-hole. There’s no way I could be friends with her. She has to be the phoniest member of the Housewives franchise, and that’s saying a lot. If you look up “two-faced” in the dictionary, her picture is there. Porsha has a new old boyfriend, whom she dated years ago. She decides to bring him to a family dinner, where he’s barraged with questions about his “intentions.” Even Jesus gets an earful during grace.

I often get distracted by the outfits on this show. Especially when Phaedra wears some kind of poufy thing. Or a hat. I was twice as distracted tonight, when Phaedra and Kandi met for a disastrous lunch. Kandi called Phaedra out for everything she’d ever done since the earth cooled, and Phaedra pretended she had no idea what Kandi was talking about, and Kandi must be crazy. But I digress from my digression. Kandi was wearing a gorgeous, but busy, off-the-shoulder dress, in a humongous floral pattern, and Phaedra was wearing some white concoction that I kept trying to figure out. I don’t know how I was supposed to concentrate on the conversation. All I know is, it didn’t end well.

🚑 As for Married to Medicine, this one is like watching a train wreck for me. You’d think that a group of women who are doctors and/or married to doctors would be somewhat mature, but no. However, it’s flabbergasting to see how incredibly childish they are. Hats off to Dr. Jackie, often the only voice of reason. She finally blew a gasket last week, while doing a nude photo shoot for breast cancer awareness. She’d invited the girls along for support, but they couldn’t stop their loud, petty quarreling for five minutes, and she had to kick them out. It’s a shame that a show that could have so much going for it, frequently reduces itself to Jersey Shore status. I’d also love to know where they find these people. What are the odds of a medical maven also being the first to start a bar brawl? That’s not to say the ladies are one-dimensional – this season’s storyline about Simone’s missing father is heart-wrenching – but they’re not kids and need to learn when to put a lid on it.

What I Watched Today

(random, rambling thoughts on today’s TV)

Fear the Walking Dead

Lou Reed’s Perfect Day starts things off.  I love that song! I miss Lou…I miss the 70s…but I miss the 80s more. I also miss I Am Cait being on Sunday night, and I’m hoping it comes back for another season.

The neighborhood has been turned into an internment camp and everyone is fenced in.  Travis is all, let’s trust the government, but Madison keeps trying to tell him something isn’t right, especially since there’s no electricity or phone service. He comes up with some lame reasoning for every point she makes. Travis looks thinner too, so nobody is getting fed either or maybe Madison is a lousy cook.

Travis’s son, Chris, has also seen what may or may not be some kind of signal coming from the demilitarized zone. Travis doesn’t want to hear about it, but Madison is paying attention. Pretty much a typical couple.

Lt. Moyers (head National Guard guy) is playing golf outside the fence. What is it with golf on these zombie shows? Although I guess if a zombie tries to blow your shot, you can always whack them in the head with the club. It’s not looking good when Travis asks him what’s up. Moyers seems to think the people inside the fence are nothing but a nuisance, and I’m pretty sure he has an itchy trigger finger.

Dubious “health screenings” are being done, and a government doctor (Dr. Exnor) has come to see the barber’s wife (sounds like a Canterbury Tale – The Government Doctor & The Barber’s Wife) and wants to take her in “for surgery.” Daniel the barber is skeptical and says he’ll be going with her. There’s no argument from the doctor, and I’m thinking they’re both going to their deaths. Madison sneaks out, cutting through the fence. I’m kind of surprised she was able to escape so early on, since you’d think the guards haven’t had time to get lackadaisical yet. A military patrol comes by and she hides under a car.

In the demilitarized zone, there are a lot of shrines and missing person posters that remind me of NYC just after the World Trade Center attack and my stomach flips a little. After passing those, Madison sees a load of dead bodies. And they’re not zombies.

Daniel talks about how there would be people taken from his town periodically when he was a child. His father has told him that men do evil because of fear, but Daniel isn’t having any today. He tells Madison, who has returned from her trip outside, that if he doesn’t come back to take care of his daughter, and to be prepared because things will happen quickly once they get going.

Getting the old lady out of bed is an arduous task. Instead of taking Daniel with her, they grab Nick. A struggle ensues, but Nick gets hauled away. Madison is pretty pissed off, and at Travis too, since he’s such a freaking idiot, and believes the government involvement is actually going to improve things.

Oddly enough, for a zombie show, it was nothing of the kind tonight. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just sayin’.

Married to Medicine

I’ve said it before, that I will watch pretty much anything in regard to reality TV. I don’t always stick it out though. I loved The Real World the first several seasons, before it degenerated into drinking and hot tub sex. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but who wants to watch other people doing it? Seriously, it started off as an interesting glimpse into the world of just moving away from home to the big city. The cast had jobs, took classes, and we actually got to see some of whatever city it was through their eyes. Then, like Jerry Springer before them, MTV discovered there was a world of ratings in people debasing themselves. I haven’t watched it in a long time. For a while, I’d check in every so often, to see if anything had changed. It hadn’t.

I also tried to watch The Jersey Shore. I might have even made it all the way through the first season. Then it was just the same old and I stopped watching. Occasionally, I would forget why I stopped, tune in again, see Sammi and Ronnie either breaking or making up, remember, and tune back out. The only show that turned me off completely was The Littlest Groom, sort of a little person Bachelor. After about a half hour, the emphasis was so heavy on the sexual aspect, I got uncomfortable. It seemed geared toward fetishists and certainly not dignified. I didn’t make it through the first episode. While I don’t think The Bachelor/Bachelorette shows are very dignified either, I was able to take a couple of seasons of each.

I said all this to say, I watch Married to Medicine, but I’m starting to wonder why. A couple of the women seem normal, mostly Dr. Jacquie and Dr. Simone, but what up with these girls? Pretty much all they do is fight, call each other stupid bitches and ho’s, and create chaos. It’s a step above Bad Girls (ok, I do check that out sporadically, but I don’t kid myself that it’s anything other than a boxing match) and these are supposed to be doctors and doctors’ wives. Aren’t they embarrassed???

The first season, I saw two of them go at it physically, and I was like, whoa, are they married to the medicine they’re taking?

So that’s why I’ve never said anything about it. I don’t even know what to say.
