What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Franco paints a picture of Betsy’s basement stairs. Elizabeth stops by the art therapy room, bringing Jake’s painting. Franco tells her that Jake is talented, and she says Jake misses him. He misses Jake too, and asks her to tell Jake that he knows he made mistakes, but he’s doing what he can to fix them. Elizabeth hopes so.

Maxie arrives at the station. She looks at Nathan’s desk, which now belongs to Chase, and sees the Red Sox cup. Ned comes in and she asks if he’s there on mayoral business. He says he’s there for the same reason she is, to honor Nathan. He asks if she’s okay, and she tells him it’s the first time she’s been there since Nathan died.

Curtis meets Nina at Kelly’s. She wants him to investigate Peter.

Anna tells Andre the boarding school information isn’t narrowing the search as quickly as she’d hoped. She asks if he can use his profiling skills, and he says he’ll do what he can. Anna says she’s in a race of time against Jason. If he finds Henrik first – Andre says, things could get violent. Anna says she really couldn’t blame him.

At the hospital, Jason asks Finn for a minute. He has questions about the night Faison died.

Griff barges into Peter’s office, and Peter asks if there’s a problem with his test results. Griff says there’s a mistake with the paperwork regarding his name. He wrote Peter August, but his name is Henrik Faison. He tells Peter that he ran a DNA test, and he’s the son of Caesar Faison.

Jordan didn’t think Maxie would come, but is glad she did. She knows it’s hard enough being there, and asks if Maxie wants to skip the ceremony. Ned tells Maxie that they can forego the presentation, but she says Nathan is being given the Medal of Honor. He’d be proud, and she is too. Jordan asks if she’s ready, and Ned suggests they head up together. She takes his arm.

Elizabeth asks Franco how it’s going with Doc. Franco says he hasn’t seen him; he’s been busy. Elizabeth doesn’t understand. He seemed motivated to get to bottom of it. Franco says, he is, and she asks why he isn’t seeing Doc then? She tells him he can’t do it to please her, and she can’t push him. It’s his process to go through – if he goes through it. He says he will. She tells him to show her, takes the picture out of his hand, and leaves.

Doc knocks on the door, and asks Franco if it’s a bad time. Franco says, no; it’s an awesome time. He asks if there are really any good ones, and Doc says there can be. He’d expected Franco to come by. Franco says he’s been busy. Doc says from looks of things, he doesn’t seem busy now, and suggests they sit and talk.

Jason tells Finn that Faison left behind – Finn suggests misery. Jason says, that, and unanswered questions. Finn tells him that Faison died on someone else’s watch; he can only tell him what happened in the ER. Jason asks if there was anything out of the ordinary, and Finn asks if he means like kicking Jason out of the room. Jason asks if there were objects or people who shouldn’t have been there. Finn says he doesn’t know what Jason is looking for, but it better not blow back to Anna. He adds that Jason is the only one he saw that night.

Anna tells Andre if Jason finds Henrik first, and he’s doing something questionable – Andre says, a perceived threat – he won’t hesitate to take him out. She’ll never know if her son has any of her in him.

Peter says he came to Griff as a doctor for medical help. Griff apologizes, but Peter says he violated his privacy, the Hippocratic Oath, and the law. It is rather unsavory. Griff says he was at the clinic, and witnessed firsthand the lives affected by Faison’s plan. Peter says, his father’s plan, not his. Griff says his victims are still looking for answers. Peter says he kept Jason alive, but Griff says Jason was there five years. Peter tells Griff that he has no idea what he’s done. Griff says he thought long and hard about Peter’s privacy versus the patients’ rights to heal. Peter asks, what’s the plan? Is Griff going to turn him in, and make him pay for his father’s sins? Griff says Peter isn’t blameless. He knows. You don’t learn at knee of Faison and walk away with no issues. Griff suggests he face them, and turn himself in. Peter say his father would love that, and laugh in his grave.

Jason tells Finn that he has no interest in causing Anna more pain. Finn says it was just him, and a nurse named Cindy; there was no one else hanging around. Jason asks at what point were Faison’s personal effects taken, and Finn has a vague memory of Cindy taking them. He says she goes by the book, so they would have been bagged up. Jason asks what happens to the bag, and Finn says it goes upstairs. Whoever took over might give him more insight. He hopes Jason finds what he’s looking for.

Jason sees Elizabeth, and asks, what’s wrong? He’s really starting to annoy me. Is there anyone whose business he can keep his nose out of?

Franco suddenly remembers he has an appointment, but Doc tells him to sit; he doesn’t have an appointment. Franco says he might have left the oven on. Doc says he stated how important this was, but when push comes to shove, he does everything to avoid it. Why? Franco says he’s an enigma and fascinating. Logically, he knows he’s a ticking time bomb, who no one wants to be around. Doc tells him if he wants to be around Elizabeth and the boys, he has to examine his past, especially the scary parts, or the cycle will never end. Franco knows what he has to do, but doesn’t want to do it. Doc says let’s see if they can figure out why.

Curtis tells Nina that Peter’s digital footprint is pristine. By all accounts, he’s the picture of a successful media CEO. Nina tells him to do some digging. Prove she has nothing to worry about, so she can sleep at night. Curtis jokingly asks if it’s about her beauty rest.

Peter tells Griff the evil didn’t take. Otherwise, why would he defy his father’s orders and keep Jason alive? Griff says he kept Jason captive, but Peter says he had no choice. He kept him in the to clinic recoup. Griff says for five years his family grieved and his children called another man father. Peter says he had no other choice. Griff asks what about letting him go, and Peter says he thought about it, but it would have been worse. Jason was still weak and recovering. How long does Griff think he would have survived?

Ned tells Maxie she did great. Jordan knows it wasn’t easy, and Maxie says that’s a relative term at this point. Jordan tells her what was said was true; they don’t make them braver or better than Nathan. She says if Maxie needs someone to vent to who can take it, her door is always open. She leaves, and Ned asks if Maxie wants to go to brunch. She says she’s going to hang out for a while to take in the new normal. He tells her that what Jordan said goes for him too. He leaves, and Maxie touches Nathan’s desk and chair. She sits in the chair. Chase comes out and asks what she’s doing. She tells him it was her husband’s desk.

Andre knows Anna doesn’t want it to be true, but what if Henrik was conditioned to take Faison’s place? She says she thinks about it every day. For all she knows, he has Faison’s catalog of dirty secrets. She has no way of knowing, but has to find him first to prove there’s good in him before Jason decides otherwise. Andre asks what if Jason is right; what happens then? She says it could be whatever good in him is long gone, but she has to know for certain. She has to find him. Andre says, before Jason. Then that’s what they’ll do.

Franco needs to justify Elizabeth’s faith in him, but just messes up over and over. Doc asks what’s the worst-case scenario, and Franco says, losing Elizabeth. Doc asks if that’s worse than finding out he had violent tendencies from the beginning and it wasn’t the tumor, just him. Franco says when he puts it like that, he’ll lose her no matter what. Doc asks what’s holding him back, but he doesn’t know. Doc suggests they start with his panic attack in Jim’s hotel room.

Elizabeth tells Jason that she’s fine, and asks why he’s there. He says he had a question for Finn about the night Faison died. He asks if anything was off or unusual, and she says everything was off and unusual with Faison. He’s looking for something more specific, and asks if she knows what Faison’s personal effects were. She says she can ask someone. She tells him, just so he knows, Franco moved out. She knows he wants Franco as far away from Jake as possible. Jason says if she wants him to say he’s sorry, he can’t. Yeah, yeah, we know you can’t sugarcoat.

Nina tells Curtis that Peter is suddenly with Maxie all the time – at her apartment, at her appointments, looking at her bank statements. To be honest, he’s good too her. Curtis asks if she’s thinking, too good, and she says Peter is Maxie’s boss. There are all kinds of lines that shouldn’t be crossed. Curtis says, especially today, but Maxie is cool with it. Nina says she isn’t. Valentin thinks she’s overreacting, and she hopes she is, but Maxie is pregnant, and leaning on Peter. Curtis says, a guy who’s not her brother. Is it possible that she just resents Peter is there and Nathan isn’t? She says that’s 99% possible, but she doesn’t know him. She wants to make sure there’s not a skeleton in his closet that’s going to pop out and hurt her family.

Chase apologizes to Maxie, saying he should have left her alone. She says she doesn’t blame him, since she’s a complete stranger. He says he has big shoes to fill; Nathan was one helluva detective. He bets Nathan was a great husband too. Maxie says the baby was about to hit jackpot, and Chase says the baby is still lucky. He asks if it’s a boy or girl, but Maxie doesn’t know. He’s sorry for her loss. He tells her that’s one of the first things he should have said, but she’s glad it wasn’t. They introduce themselves. Maxie tells Chase that Nathan cared a lot about people. He gave more than he got, so if he really wants to fill his shoes, he needs to be kind, generous, and trustworthy. If he can do those things, he might do right by this desk. She leaves, taking a last look before going out the door.

Peter asks if Griff honestly thinks he hasn’t thought of revealing himself? Griff asks why he hasn’t, and he says he’d be signing his own death warrant. He removed himself as far as possible from who he was; he’s Peter August, CEO of Aurora Media. Griff asks why Port Charles, pointing out he works for Drew. Peter says his goal was to make sure his father’s victims were okay. He thought if he could look out for them, he’d be kind of making amends. Then the opportunity at Aurora opened up. The company was in bad shape. He had his pick of better jobs with more money, but he chose to keep Aurora afloat. He also wanted Jason to have a semblance of a good life. It’s not enough, and never will be, but he can’t tell them. They won’t believe he wasn’t in on it, and hates everything his father stood for. He knows he’s made mistakes, and isn’t blameless. He knew what he was doing is considered complicit, but he defied his father, broke ties, and tried to make it right, just not publicly. Griff asks what good it is if no one knows who he is and that he wants to change? Peter says he knows. Griff isn’t sure that’s good enough.

Elizabeth tells Jason that Franco has been twisting in knots, trying to find answers to what happened in the past. Jason says she knows he has zero sympathy. She says it’s ironic, considering his own situation. He tells her it’s never going to change, but hopes she’s okay. She tells him she’s been separated from a person she loves, and not because she wanted to; she’s not okay. She refrains from calling him an unfeeling lout.

Franco tells Doc about Jim saying Betsy would never believe him, just like back then. The way Jim kept calling him a liar, and said he’d been bad, he just froze. He couldn’t breathe. It was like he was there, but also someplace else. Doc asks where, but Franco doesn’t know. Doc asks if Franco thinks Jim is right, that he’s a liar and a bad seed. Franco says he did twisted things and remembers them. Maybe Jim is right, and that’s the whole story. Doc asks if he believes that, and Franco says, no.

As Andre looks over some records, Anna says it seems that Henrik was at private boarding school all year round. Andre says, vigorous academics, extreme physical activity, and a stern code of ethics. They can start with those. Anna tells him that his help is invaluable. He says that’s how he feels about her friendship. He asks how things are outside of the hunt, and she says, fine. He asks if she’s taking care of herself, and she says she just came from a phlebotomy appointment. He says, what about emotionally? Is she getting out to see people? She wonders if he means Finn. She wasn’t thrilled with Andre’s advice. It was an unmitigated disaster followed by embarrassment. Andre sees Finn walking into the restaurant, and says that’s his cue. They nod to each other. Finn walks over to Anna’s table, and says, always a mysterious exit with Andre. He asks how she is, and she says, great; him? He says never better, and continues on. She mumbles about Alexis being right, and he says, what?

Doc tells Franco that he’s repressing the memories. Franco says his gut tells him that Jim is involved, or at least knows what happened, but his brain won’t remember. He adds it doesn’t exactly scream good times. Doc asks if he’s considered hypnotherapy, and Franco says, hell no. Doc tells him it’s effective in helping patients through blocked experiences, but only with full commitment. He has to be serious about it or it won’t work.

Elizabeth gets it; Jason hates Franco, and thinks he’s unworthy. Jason says it doesn’t matter, nothing is going to change, but Elizabeth says it does. The joy Franco has brought Jake alone is worth it. Jake loves him. Elizabeth says it’s frustrating. Love is precious, no matter who is giving it. She wonders when he’s going to know that, considering Sam loves him, but shouldn’t.

Griff says he hears Peter, but how is it any different than keeping Jason alive and hidden? Is Griff stupid? It’s a lot different. Peter says there’s no easy solution when a life is hanging in the balance. He’s building a life difference from his father. He’s different. He has friends, and people who count on him. Right on cue, Maxie walks in. She says she’s totally interrupting, but Griff says he was just leaving. He says he has a lot to think about, and Maxie tells him, good luck with that. She asks Peter if everything is okay, and Peter says he thinks so.

Finn asks Anna if she talked to Alexis about him. Anna is surprised Alexis didn’t tell him. She says they had a face-to-face conversation about him. They wanted to be straight. Women like the two of them say what they mean. Finn is like, oh yeah, you’re good at that, and Anna says, maybe not. He asks what they were being direct about, and Anna says Alexis wanted to know if she’d be stepping on Anna’s toes if she dated Finn. He says, wow, and asks if they sorted it out. Anna says, absolutely. Her toes are fine.

Nina gives Curtis a check to help convince him to take the job, and he says she has herself and investigator. She says he won’t regret it, and he says he won’t, as soon as he deposits the check. She tells him to start with the untraceable money wiring. She wants to know everything. Who Peter’s parents are, his shoe size, his prom date, right down to the socks he owns. She wants to know his agenda where Maxie is concerned.

Maxie tells Peter that she’s always barging in, but he says she’s always welcome. She jokes about her promise to lean on fewer shoulders. Peter says she’s just keeping him posted. He asks about the ceremony. She says she met the detective who took Nathan’s place, and he seems bearable. She didn’t scream at him. Peter says that’s progress, and she says there might be hope for her yet.

Elizabeth asks Jason if Sam has told Drew. He says she’s gone. She took the kids on trip for a while. She decided she need time to think and figure out what she wanted. Elizabeth asks if he thinks she should take a page out of Sam’s book, and says she doesn’t need him to tell her who she is or who to love. She knows those answers. He says he wasn’t going to tell her anything. Her phone dings, and she tells Jason that Faison’s things were signed over to Anna. Yeah, those ended up being a hot potato.

Franco tells Doc that he needs a hint, like, what you will find out will suck, but not break you. Doc says nothing gets better until you do the work. It will suck. It’s difficult and scary, but unless he does it, he’ll never get out of the place he’s in now. It’s his choice; Doc can’t make it for him. Franco says he needs to know what happened to him, no matter what. Let’s do it.

Tomorrow, Jason wants to know if Anna is keeping something from him, Nelle can’t back off Carly, and Sonny tells Mike that his parents are dead.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Still in Berlin, the ladies split into groups for the day Teddi, LisaR, and Kyle head out to see some sights. Kyle talks about the mix of old and new architecture. Erika, LVP, and Dorit go to a mall. Erika thinks they can do some damage there. The sightseers stop for coffee, and it’s a project discussing soy milk with the waiter. Kyle ends up sending back whatever it is she ordered, asking for it to be more well done. I hope they leave this poor guy a big tip; they’re really running him around. In her interview, Dorit says she loves shopping with friends on an international trip; it bonds you. Erika says they’re high maintenance, and a little nuts; these poor Germans. I’ll bet the personal shopper is happy with his commission though. He seemed to be having a lot more fun than the waiter.

Teddi says shopping is boring for her, and is glad to be in her element with the horses. The others join her for a ride. The stables are old and beautiful. LVP says it reminds her of when they lived in the countryside in England, and it’s like going back in time. LisaR says she rode a lot growing up. She had a horse until she realized it was a lot of work, and got a tennis racket instead. Kyle says she developed an allergy to horses a while back, but still loves them. She’s given a smaller horse, and in her interview, Erika compares Kyle’s legs hanging down to the Flintstones’ car. The dirt road is flanked by lush green fields, and wind turbines spin in the background. It’s gorgeous and peaceful, until LisaR’s horse decides to take her for an unscheduled ride. Teddi tells us a horse can tell a nervous rider.

Maybe this horse only knows German. Teddi comes to the rescue, instructing LisaR on what to do. She tells the others that LisaR should not have been in front. Kyle says she’s done; she’s not feeling so good. Erika says she had different plans for this excursion, and wonders if they’ll ever get it right. LVP says she’s used to Kyle making a big deal out of nothing, but her eyeballs are totally red. Her allergies have gotten the better of her, and her chest is tightening. She dashes off with the camera people to where the caretakers live, and gets something similar to an EpiPen. LVP puts on her fuzzy bejeweled hat, and Teddi wonders if Kyle is allergic to the hat. The ladies have champagne on the way back. Erika thanks Teddi for handling the situation, and Teddi says they were a team. In her interview, she says if it’s not Erika yelling at her, she’ll take it.

Getting ready for her dinner party, Erika gets dolled up like a 40s movie star. She’s going for a combination of Marlene Dietrich and a little Catherine Deneuve in The Hunger. I like it. Everyone is impressed with the presidential suite. Kyle should be in bed sleeping, but the FOMO would have been too strong. Most of the ladies pass on veal tartare, and in her interview, Erika accuses them of being afraid of international cuisine. I don’t think that’s it. I think because it’s a baby cow that’s still mooing. LisaR talks about Delilah being agoraphobic as a teenager. She says it was a freaky time. She’ll always have anxiety, but has the tools to deal with it now.

LVP tells them some hurtful things were said in New York, but she thinks they’re in a good place. Dorit interrupts, saying Kyle hurt her feelings by going to LVP about their private conversations. Kyle thought they were past that, and LVP says apparently Dorit feels hurt. Kyle is annoyed at LVP defending Dorit. She’d apologized for the last time, but actions speak louder than words. LVP thinks Kyle is still pissed about what happened at the Bella party. In her interview, LVP says Kyle is like a petulant child. She just wants Kyle to see Dorit’s side. Kyle says it started with her defending LVP, but LVP doesn’t return the favor. She says she’s never telling LVP anything again. She felt bad when Dorit made an issue about her at the beach house. Teddi says they’ll talk in circles, and never move on. Dorit says they don’t need a moderator, and starts yammering about the beach house, losing Kyle, and probably everyone else. Then she brings up pantygate, saying Erika wasn’t mad until Kyle got involved. Kyle says she had nothing to do with Erika’s reaction.  In her interview, Erika says she never blamed Kyle for anything, but it’s difficult to follow Dorit’s line of thinking sometimes. No kidding. Dorit says she’d never do what Kyle did to her. LVP suggests they sleep on it. In her interview, Erika sighs, and says she might have to use the panic room. Dorit says they’re not fighting; they’ve cleared air. In her interview, Kyle says she expects non-supportive behavior from Dorit, but not from LVP.

Teddi leaves a message for her clients. She says her job doesn’t stop on vacation, but it doesn’t feel like a job. It keeps her in line too, so it’s a win-win. Dorit thinks Kyle is jealous of her relationship with LVP. Erika calls LisaR, and says she wants to see cultural stuff. She wants to get everyone together, not split into groups, and asks for LisaR’s help. LVP calls Kyle, and asks if she wants to go to the park. She says Kyle doesn’t sound happy, and Kyle says she isn’t; why would she be?

Erika tells the girls that LVP and Kyle have stuff to work out, and will be meeting them later. LisaR thanks Erika for dinner. She says she’s frustrated by the whole thing, and Teddi says that’s why it’s good LVP and Kyle are hashing it out with just the two of them.

Kyle hopes LVP listens, because up to now, she hasn’t heard her. Kyle says she and Dorit had a disconnect, and LVP went out of her way to make Dorit’s point clear, but didn’t clarify Kyle’s side. Kyle feels taken for granted.

Teddi explains to Dorit that LVP shut her down when she tried to get in the conversation. In her interview, LisaR doesn’t think Dorit was ever in a place where she actually looked at herself. In her interview, Erika says there’s a lot of history between LVP and Kyle, and we flash back to some of that. Dorit awakened the division between them, and the unfinished business.

Kyle tells LVP that friendship is a two-way street. LVP says if Kyle is upset, she’s always there; Kyle knows that. Kyle says she wasn’t getting that last night. She feels it’s important enough to say this, and fix it. She’s worked things out with Dorit, and LVP will have to do the same for herself. LVP says they’ll deal with her individually, and she’s keeping out of Kyle’s friendship with her. Kyle says if she didn’t love LVP, they wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Erika likes experiencing the energy of different cities, and says it opens your mind and heart. Teddi asks a passerby to take a picture. Dorit says this is the kind of trip you should have with your Fräuleins. It’s thrilling and steeped in history. LVP and Kyle catch up with the group. Dorit asks LVP if she and Kyle are good. LVP thinks they’re fine, and Dorit needs to make sure she is too.

The Holocaust Memorial is massive. LVP says it’s just a portion of those who died. Kyle explains that Mauricio was born in Mexico, but his blood is Russian and Turkish. When his grandparents fled, they went to Mexico. Before they got married, Mauricio wanted her to convert because they lost so many. She says being reminded of the loss and sadness is overwhelming. Erika explains why the stones vary in height. The smallest signify when the Holocaust could still be ignored, and as they grow, it gets more overpowering. It represents the escalation of it. In her interview, Dorit tells us about her great-grandparents being thrown in a concentration camp, and how her grandfather came to reunite with his mother thirty years later. LVP says it’s like the entire population of England.

Next is the Berlin Cathedral. Another picture is taken, and they move on to what’s left of the Berlin Wall. Erika says it’s important to remember that freedom is fragile, and to see it in person. The presence of something like the Wall makes their differences feel insignificant. Kyle suggests German casual, and Erika says, coming right up. They’re going to Oktoberfest it.

The ladies start talking pretend Swedish again. Kyle FaceTimes with Portia, and the others contribute to the conversation. It’s on to Hofbrau Berlin. Erika says they can’t go to Berlin without going to a beerhall and having a pretzel and a beer. LisaR and Kyle start dancing around, even before dancing starts. Pretzels with mustard are the appetizer, and next is a variety of sausages. I’m reminded of the OC trip to Iceland, but without the yelling, crying, and trips to the hospital.

The Road to Yulin and Beyond is getting an award, so LVP is leaving Berlin early. Erika says she’ll miss the boat part, which I’m sure breaks LVP’s heart. Everyone gets up to dance. The do one of those circle dances where people bust out into the middle and do their own thing. Kyle says they argued last night, but tonight, they’ve put it aside and let their hair down. They’re having a good time, even if it involves eating carbs and drinking beer. The music stops, and everyone applauds. They’re having he time of their lives, but I’m sure it won’t last long.

Next time, the zoo, LisaR says bad things happen on the boat, and the ladies go to the new hot spot through an alley.

⛅ Summer House had their reunion, which consisted of a lot of weepy and/or angry, muddled conversation. Andy said he wouldn’t be in a house with them, and I concurred. His comment was followed by him asking one of the interchangeable blonde girls why they were crying. That about summed it up. It was also what I call a cheap reunion, since it took place in the clubhouse.

March 30, 2018 – A One-Night Event at Luke’s, a Half-Dozen Quotes & Some Happys

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Mike looks at a family photo. In a voice-over, Sonny says he’s been thinking about memory; how much it defines us, and how much our character is built from it. Loyalties, personalities, and our souls are a response to what came before. It’s the sum total of connections we’ve made and people we’ve lost. The building blocks of our identity. Without them, who we are is lost to us. While he’s talking, we see various characters getting an invitation to a one-night event at the MetroCourt.

Sonny, Michael and Dante are wearing tuxedos. Mike asks why they’re dressed up. What’s the occasion? Sonny says it’s a surprise.

At the MetroCourt everyone is has gathered for the event, dressed to the nines. Sonny tells Mike, welcome to Luke’s.

Mike asks how he did it. Luke’s is gone; it burned down years ago. Sonny says he got thinking he missed it, and asked Luke about bringing it back. Luke gave his blessing, but Sonny was never a hands-on kind of guy, and has no experience. He asks Mike what he thinks. Mike says give him a second. He goes to the bar, and tells the servers to put their phones down, make sure the customers have drinks, and encourage them to mingle. Mike asks who the act is, and Olivia-Q tells him that Eddie Maine is playing. She reminds Mike of who she is from the old neighborhood.

Doc says Mike is jumping right in, and back to his old self, Michael thanks him, and he says some patients respond to nostalgia. The hypothesis is, a walk through the past brings the memory to the forefront. Mike asks if he should card Lulu, and she likes that. Sonny thanks his sons, and Dante says Mike smiling is all the thanks they need. Carly says it brings back lots of memories for her, not just for Mike.

Elizabeth talks to some of the other staff about remembering their first day at GH. Doc says he was intimidated by Dr. Hardy. We see an old clip of Audrey and Steve at the hospital. Monica says he had high standards, but led by example. He built the hospital into something they could be proud of. The group toasts to him.

Felicia and Mac knock on Maxie’s door, and tell her to stop hiding and open the door. She lets them in, and asks how they knew she was hiding. Mac says, years of experience. She knows they want her to go to the MetroCourt. Felicia says for tonight, it’s Luke’s, and she can come in the front instead of sneaking around the back like she used to. Maxie says, as cool as Luke’s was, if she got a chance to visit the past, it’s not where she’d go.

Mike calls Lucy boss. She says she’ll never forget her partner, and he tells her it’s nice that she remembers; everything about her is unforgettable. Lucy tells Doc, nice work, and Doc says, it’s entirely a Corinthos family project. He just advised them. She tells him that he gives the best advice.

Alexis asks for sparkling water, and Mike says he’s in recovery too. He has a gambling addiction. He threw away a lot of good things. She tells him that he’s looking good, and he says, it works if you work it (12-Step lingo).

Bobbie thanks Scotty for coming. He says he did this for her. He doesn’t have much use for Sonny, but respects what he’s doing for his father. Bobbie suggests he pay tribute to Lee by being the man Lee wanted him to be. We flash back to a very young Scotty with Lee, telling Lee that he wants him to be his lawyer because he’s the best and his father. Scotty says he almost ended up a dogcatcher instead of a judge because he goofed up when Bobbie brought Luke to town. We see young Luke and even younger Bobbie, when Luke first arrived. Bobbie tells Scotty that she’s always thought he didn’t hate Luke as much as he pretended to. She calls them frenemies, and he says Luke kept his life interesting. Bobbie says his secret is safe with her.

Sonny asks Mike how it’s going. Mike says it’s a good crowd, and asks Sonny when Brenda is going to get there. He says it always takes her forever to get ready.

Bobbie thought Mac and Felicia were bringing Maxie, but Felicia says they couldn’t get her to come. Bobbie asks if she can try.

Olivia asks Ned if he has stage fright, and he says, always. He tells her that Mike asked if his grandparents are coming. He says they had a rich, full life, and Olivia wishes she had met them in their prime. He says his grandfather was a schemer, a manipulator, and charming. His grandmother was grace personified, and could keep him in line with a word. A precious clip of Lila and the original Edward is shown. Olivia kisses Ned, calling him Edward Quartermaine.

Monica tells Michael that he’s thoughtful, and must have gotten the recessive gene from Lila, not his grandfather. Alan obviously cared about people, and if he hadn’t damaged his hand trying to kill her, would have made great a surgeon. Michael is like, what? She says she was cheating on him. We see Monica and Alan fighting in their heyday. She says no one could make her angrier or laugh harder. Even though there were times she never wanted to see him again, she misses him every day. She hugs Michael. Mini rant. Killing Alan off was a HUGE mistake. I didn’t watch the show for a long time after that. Then they made an even bigger mistake, bringing him back as a ghost, trying to correct their first mistake.

Maxie tells Bobbie that she already told Mac and Felicia that she can’t go. Bobbie says she’s there to change her mind. It’s a onetime event. Miss it, and it’s gone; no do over. Maxie says she can’t handle going to a party. Bobbie tells her it’s not a party. It’s a gathering of friends to help Mike, who’s losing his memory. Maxie says everywhere she turns, there are memories of Nathan. Memories of what she lost, and what the baby lost. She doesn’t want them; it’s too painful. Bobbie says she doesn’t mean that. She lived through it, and knows the grief. You want to forget about the good as well as the bad, because you think you can’t go on. Bobbie did, and BJ goes on in Maxie, just like Nathan does in another baby. She tells Maxie to embrace the future, and live life with joy and purpose. Maxie says she doesn’t know how to do that. Bobbie says she’ll figure it out. Bobbie promises Maxie is stronger than she thinks.

Sonny introduces Anna to Mike, who says, Robin’s mom. He tells Anna that her daughter is impressive. As they walk back to the party, Anna tells Sonny that Mike is right. The most terrifying moment of her life was when she thought she lost her little girl. She spent weeks searching, and when she found her – we flash back to when Anna reunites with Robin, who’s about five – she swore she would never let her go. It’s difficult to keep promises. Sonny says all they can do is love their kids, and be the best they can for them.

Carly asks Jason how many memories he has of this place, and he says, a lot. Carly didn’t spend much time there. Luke blackmailed her into staying away when he found out she was Bobbie’s daughter. She can see it from his perspective now. He wanted to save her mom from the conniving wench. Jason says she wasn’t a conniving wench, but she says she was until Michael was born, and he saved her. Jason says, him too, and we see Jason holding Michael as a literal a baby. Michael asks why they’re looking at him, and Carly says they were just talking about him as a baby. Time flies.

Anna tells Sonny it’s a wonderful thing he’s doing for his dad. Sonny says it brings back a lot of memories. He tells her that Robin used to spend a lot of time at Luke’s. It was twenty-three years ago. We see Robin lying in a bed with Stone. A younger-than-I-can-remember Sonny asks if he’s dead. He is, and Sonny takes Robin’s place in the bed. Sonny tells Anna that Stone was nineteen. He’s been gone longer than he lived. Anna says he still lives on in Robin’s heart, and Sonny says he feels the same way.

Olivia welcomes everyone to Luke’s, and thanks Mike. She says, for one night, and one night only, give it up for Eddie Maine. Ned sings Love Will Have the Last Word. I don’t know this song, but figure that’s the title, since that lyric is repeated a bunch of times.

Maxie shows up at the MetroCourt. Mike remembers her, and congratulates her on expecting. He says it will be the best thing ever to happen to her. Felicia tells Bobbie that she doesn’t know how she got Maxie there, but thanks. Bobbie says, to honor those they lost is the price of living. Maxie is already figuring out that when you help someone else, you create a miracle. We flash back to the moment Felicia realized Maxie received BJ’s heart. I remember that scene. It was absolutely draining. Felicia thanks Bobbie for her daughter.

Alexis tells Ned, nice job, Eddie. He says, thanks, Angel. She says, Eddie’s Angel, and we see him finding her on his hotel room bed with a rose in her teeth. Alexis says it was the most embarrassing moment of her life, adding that’s saying a lot. He says she would have made a helluva groupie.

Mac remembers Luke buying Lucy’s shoe during her striptease/auction at the Nurses’ Ball. It’s agreed that Lucy always goes all out – even if she’s hanging from the rafters in her underwear. Lucy says that was only one incident among her many triumphs. We trip down the Memory Lane of various gowns Lucy wore to the Nurses’ Ball. Felicia brings up Doc and Mac dressing in drag, and we flash back to them shaving their legs and dressing up a la Bosom Buddies. (I miss that show!) Doc says he hated it at the time, but looking back, he’s had a great friend in Mac.

Sonny tells Dante and Michael that this night was the best gift. Dante says he made it happen. Sonny says what good is all the hard work if he can’t pull strings for family? Dante asks if Sonny ever had any regrets. Did he ever feel that it came at too steep a price? Sonny says one thing in particular, and we go back to when undercover Dante tried to arrest Sonny and got shot. We see Olivia telling him, you just shot your own son. Dante tells Sonny that he liked him, in spite of all that. Now he has an excuse to like him. Sonny says he can’t take credit for the man Dante become, but he’s grateful Dante is his son.

Jason thanks Monica for coming. She says she and Sonny aren’t great friends, but Mike is a good man. It’s not wise to spend too much time looking back, but it’s not bad to revisit the past once in a while. Jason says he’s starting to learn that, and remembers the two of them way back when. Monica says Jason intervening when she almost killed Pierce, made her realize her son loved her. Jason says of course he loves her. She’s his mom. They hug.

Carly asks how Sonny is, and he says, right about tonight. He’s thinking about all the people he’s lost. If it wasn’t for Carly, he’d have blown it all to hell. We see when they first said, I love you. Carly says he’ll always be a part of her. He’s a hard man to love, but nothing worth having is ever easy. They kiss.

Everyone dances as things wind down. Eventually, there’s no one left except Sonny and Carly. They dance and kiss, and Sonny asks Mike if he’s ready to call it a night. Mike says, one more for the road, and pours two shots of whiskey. He tells Sonny that when he moved upstate, he worried about him, but it turned out to be the right call. He’s done well; better than Mike expected. Sonny says, much better than he deserved. Mike says, the cocky SOB doesn’t give himself enough credit, adding, you did good, son. He’s proud of Sonny. They clink glasses, and tear my heart out. Sonny tells Mike to go ahead to the elevator; he’ll follow. Sonny almost starts to cry, but regains his composure. He says, to a helluva night. May tomorrow be even better.

We end with the camera focusing on the neon sign that says, Luke’s.

I loved this episode. You did good, GH.

On Monday, Anna knows Griff is keeping a secret, Finn asks Alexis to be serious, Lulu asks Peter to help Sam, and Sam says goodbye to Drew.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Alexis tells Julian that Finn is decent, dependable, honest, and makes her happy.

Anna tells Andre that she didn’t think she could love anyone after Duke. He says the subject of the conversation is heading this way. He tells her that she’ll be fine, and leaves. Finn asks how Brussels was, and Anna says, eye-opening. He’s glad she and Andre had a nice trip. He starts to move along, but she asks him to wait. She says there is no her and Andre; not the way he thinks. She asks if he has a minute to talk, and he thinks he can spare some time.

Brad tells Sonny the lab results are back, and Griff will decide on the medication. Mike says he’s got to meet a shipment at Luke’s place, and asks if Sonny wants to tag along.

Nelle asks the baby if the scarf placement is perfect. She thinks so too, and gets out of Carly’s office.

Carly gives Michael the key card for the suite. He tells her a regular room would be fine, but she asks where he’d put the baby. He tells her that he’s not staying, and she says she doesn’t care, as long as he’s far away from Nelle. Michael leaves, and Jason walks in. Carly tells him about Michael moving, and he says he’s happy for her. It creeps me out a little that he said her instead of Michael. Carly says now if Sam just admits she belongs with Jason, all will be right in her world. Now I’m officially creeped out.

Sam tells Drew they need to talk. He asks what’s up. Her first impulse was to wait, but having done that in the past, she thinks it makes things worse. He says she can tell him anything. She says she has feelings for Jason. He asks what that means, and Sam says she still loves him.

Julian tells Alexis that he doesn’t believe it. She says his ego knows no bounds. Does he think no one else can make her happy? Finn does it for her quite well. He takes those walks in the woods with her that Julian wouldn’t go on. She says Finn isn’t a substitute; she’s moving on, and so should he. Kim overhears, and smiles.

Anna tells Finn it wasn’t a romantic getaway; it was a business trip. He tells her that he heard the casinos are bumping in Brussels. She asks if bumping is a thing, and tells him that no one can pull off using that word. She says Andre is still with the WSB, and Finn says, spy business. He gets it; classified intel. She says not in this case. It was personal. He asks what she was looking for.

Mike talks about Sonny playing kick the can on Thursdays. He was so serious, Mike had to laugh. Sonny tells him that he wasn’t around for that, but Mike says, if that’s the case, how would he remember? Mike asks why they’re always waiting, and Sonny tells him that they’re waiting for his favorite nurse, Deanna. He has to calm down now. Mike says, first Sonny called him a liar, now he’s telling him to calm down. He wants to go home.

Carly tells Jason that Sam admitted she still loved him, the next step is them being together. Spinelli joins them. He says he has some business there, but it will be nice for Maxie to spend some time with Georgie. He apologizes to Jason for being late; he had to make his way around the earthquake damage. His gratitude knows no bounds that they’re all okay. Carly asks what kind of business, and Jason says, not yours. Ha-ha! She tells them that she has her own business waiting on her desk, and goes back to her office. Jason asks if Spinelli has a good plan, and he says he does indeed. Jason says, let’s hear it.

Sam tells Drew that she was too afraid to admit it. She’s in love with Jason, but loves him too. She says her love is real, and tells him to look in her eyes. It’s painful for her. She’s confused, and doesn’t understand it herself. She loves them both. He asks why did they get married?

Anna tells Finn seeing Alexis in his room did sting a little; she’d thought they had a connection. He tells her that he and Alexis aren’t together, but she just keeps talking. When she was away, she thought about them. Finn supposes he did too. She says why it didn’t get off the ground is on her. She’s been guarded about something, and put a barrier between them. She told herself it was to protect him, but she was really protecting herself. She’s afraid it will change the way he sees her. She asks if that makes sense, and Finn says, no.

Sonny tells Mike, we have to get a test. Mike wonders where the we is, since he’s the only one who gets poked and prodded. Sonny says they’re doing this together. Michael arrives, and tells Mike he’s been getting ready for the baby. Mike says, his first great-grandchild. Michael talks about all the baby supplies he needs to get, and Mike says all he needs is a big heart. He asks if Michael has a crib. Michael says he does, and Mike says all that’s missing is earplugs.

Carly goes into her office. I’m hoping she drops dead when she sees the scarf, but instead she says, what the hell? She doesn’t even realize what it is, so, plan fail. She looks at the picture. Oh yeah, it’s Morgan’s scarf.

Spinelli tells Jason he’s been ruminating on the plan. Hasty multiple bank break-ins in Europe, devising an entry, opening vaults and safe deposit boxes, and devising an exit. He thinks he has a simpler alternative. Who better to gain access than Faison’s heir? The mystery son remains a mystery. Who’s to say Henrik doesn’t look like him.

Sam tells Drew that they got married because they love each other. That hasn’t changed. He says it feels like something did. She says they built an amazing life together, and she wanted to hold on to it. He says somewhere along the line, things changed. She tells him that she meant the vows. Looking into eyes of the man she loved, she meant every word. He says when marry someone, you commit yourself to them, and only them, for the rest of your life. He committed himself to her, but she can’t do that for him anymore. She says not until knows who she is.

At Kelly’s, Kim has some pie, and says Julian promised she wouldn’t be eating it alone. He says he’s not an eating his feelings kind of guy, and she suggests he change that; it works. He takes a bite, and puts the fork down. She tells him that he’s officially a robot. She asks what’s next, and he says he doesn’t have much choice. He has to get over Alexis. He’s never tried it before. He’s pathetic; they’re divorced, and Alexis can’t stand him. Maybe he assumed she’d come around, but that’s not going to happen. Kim says she doesn’t think so. He tells her to give him the pie.

Deanna asks if Mike is ready for her, and he says it depends on his grandson. Michael says he’ll be there, and Mike tells Deanna, no funny business; he’s spoken for. She says she’ll try to restrain herself. Sonny thanks Michael. Michael says he didn’t do anything; he’s just taking care of his grandfather. Sonny calls him a good man, and Michael says it’s easy for him. Mike didn’t walk out on him when he was a kid. He tells Sonny that when he was little and asked Sonny about something, he made Michael feel like he was the most important person to him. Sonny says he was. His mom and the kids always were. Michael wants to make sure to pay it forward with his son or daughter. Sonny says he never realized what a blessing memory was. Michael says he’s sorry Sonny is going through this. Sonny says, not him, and Michael says it’s hard for Mike too, but soon, he won’t recognize what’s going on. Sonny tells Michael about Mike remembering him kicking cans. It’s clear he remembered it, but Sonny doesn’t remember him being there. Who’s right? Michael says maybe truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Jason asks if Spinelli wants to pass himself off as Henrik. Spinelli says it’s genius, even if he says so himself. Jason asks what about proof, and Spinelli takes out Faison’s death certificate, Henrik’s birth certificate, and – thanks to Diane – a signed copy of the will, which gives him access to everything. Jason doesn’t remember reading that in the will, and Spinelli says it’s in there now. The best part is that Jason doesn’t even need to come. Jason says he kinda does, but Spinelli says he needs to stay here to be the strong, supportive shoulder that Sam might need, and he suspects she will.

Sam tells Drew that she can’t get either one of them out of her heart. He says he thought what they had was real. She says it is. By this time, she’s crying, and says, it is real to her; he’s real. This didn’t happen to her; it happened to them. She knows it’s hard to understand, but Drew says he understands. Sam says she handled it in the worst possible way. The reality is, she loves them both, and can’t make it okay. She wishes she could, but she can’t make it okay for any of them until she figures out who she is. She has to learn how to trust herself again. She has no idea how she let it get this far. He asks, how far did it get?

Anna tells Finn there are all types of courage. The kind he has, going into surgery; the kind she does, staring down a bad guy. There’s also the kind it takes to confront someone about feelings. Finn makes her laugh, sometimes unintentionally. He makes her want to dive into it, but there’s a thing holding her back. She wonders what she’s doing. She’s being selfish because he’s with Alexis now. He tells her that she’s a good spy, but a terrible listener. Alexis pops out onto the pier, and says Finn is just the person she needs to see.

Nelle sneaks around the hallways at the MetroCourt. She reaches for the fire alarm.

Jason tells Spinelli that in taking care of everyone else, Sam forgot herself. Spinelli says it’s common, especially with mothers. Jason hopes she takes the time and space to rebuild her life, whether he’s in it or not. The fire alarm goes off.

Carly is like, great, and leaves her office.

Andre sees Sonny at the hospital. Sonny wonders, after everything Andre did to Jason and Drew, why is he walking around free? If it was up to him, it wouldn’t be option. Andre says that free is a matter or perspective. He was released on the grounds that he continues his research on memory mapping. Sonny hopes he gets it right this time. Andre says if he could go back and make amends, he’s do it in a heartbeat. Then, maybe he could actually be free, and Drew as well.

Sam tells Drew that she and Jason kissed on New Year’s. Drew says he felt it. She says she knew it was a mistake. She didn’t want to tell him because she didn’t want to lose him over that. He says, but here we are.

Carly tells Jason and Spinelli she thinks it’s a false alarm, but they’re waiting for the fire marshal to give them the all clear. She wonders if someone is trying to sabotage the hotel, but Spinelli says it’s probably a prank. She says it’s the weirdest day. She tells them that someone left a scarf in her office like the one she gave to Morgan. It was dirty, torn, and looked like it had dried blood on it.

Julian tells Kim she should try giving up on someone; it’s liberating. She thinks it’s the pie talking. He says no more measuring words, and Kim says no more working on being friends with someone when you want more. She tells him to fake it till he makes it, and she thinks he will. He does too. She likes his attitude, but he says it’s probably the pie talking.

Alexis apologizes to Finn and Anna; clearly she’s interrupting. Anna says it looks urgent, and she has to go to the hospital anyway. She jets, and Alexis says Finn must want to kill her. He says her timing could be better. He was finally making headway, and she barged in and messed it up before he got there. She asks what if she told him something to make it worse> He says that’s not possible, and she says what if she told Julian that they were really serious? Finn says, it’s possible.

Mike comes back out, asking where Michael is; they were going to lunch. Sonny says he had to take care of some things, but he’s coming back. Sonny agrees that Mike was there when he was playing kick the can. Mike asks, where else would he be? Michael comes back, and suggests they go to Kelly’s. Sonny says he has some business, and tells them to go ahead. He smiles, watching them get into the elevator.

Carly brings Jason and Spinelli to her office, but there’s no scarf. Ohh, I get it. Plan no fail. She says it’s the strangest thing; it’s gone. She left it there when the alarm went off, and the door locks automatically. She says it’s the exact same scarf, showing them the picture. She says it’s beyond bizarre, and Spinelli says it appears they have another mystery on their hands.

Drew though what had enough guess not begs him to stay and talk he can’t he’s between us no place for him can’t stay there

Alexis says she’ll tell Julian the truth, but Finn asks, what’s the point, since he and Anna aren’t a couple? She says for her own sanity. He says she doesn’t want to be with Julian, so if the lie works in her favor, go for it. She’s concerned he won’t be the only one who believes it. Finn insists that at this point, he doesn’t care. Let it stand.

Anna runs into Andre as he’s coming out of the hospital elevator. She says she opened up in a blundering way. Just when it couldn’t get worse, Alexis showed up. Andre says he’s sorry. She gets in the elevator, and says he should be. She thought he was supposed to be a professional.

Kim tells Julian that she’ll have to roll home after that pie, and he says there’s a crane in the vicinity. He tells her that she could eat a hundred pies, and still be gorgeous. He says he’ll walk her out to the car. She almost trips, and he catches her. She says, she’s a dancer, and he says, really? She says, no, and he kisses her. She kisses back.

Sonny tells Andre if he wants to make amends, he might have an idea.

Sitting at Kelly’s lunch counter, Nelle asks Brad about the adoption, and congratulates him and Lucas. She asks if he’s excited, and he says, cautiously excited. She can imagine the baby cousins playing together. He tells her to take care of herself, and she says she’s doing everything she needs.

Carly says, first the phone calls, now this. Spinelli wonders what she’s talking about. Jason explains that the calls came from a pay phone. They began with the sound of the wind; then hanging up; then an explosion. He left one out, when they spoke, but I’ll let it pass. He doesn’t think they should jump to conclusions, and have to find out how the scarf got there, and how it disappeared. Carly says, sounds like a plan. Not really.

Drew tells Sam that he loves her. He gave her everything he is; all he’s got. He believes she loves him, but she loves his brother too. It’s too painful to stay there. She might be able to love more than one person, but he’s only capable of loving one. She says he’d told her if she needed him, to just grab his hand; he promised her. He can’t tell her how many times he touches his ring during the day. It reminds him of his family; that’s all that matters. It’s his life now, but suddenly it’s like everything else – just not real. Sam says, they’re real. Go upstairs, and look at their baby and tell her it isn’t real They made her out of love. Drew says, she’s right; Scout is his daughter, and nothing is going to change that. She’ll always have his heart; he wishes he could say same about her. She’ll always be his wife, but he can’t. He puts his ring on the desk. Sam begs him to stay, but he leaves. Wtf did she expect?

On Monday, Ned says there’s a tough job ahead, Alexis asks Jason what he’s saying, and Sonny offers Andre a chance to do good.

📠 Tonight’s Relative Success with Tabatha featured a consignment shop owned by a married couple who seemed like they couldn’t be more mismatched. Since the husband fronted a lot of the business, he thought his responsibility ended there. His wife thought differently, and wanted support in other ways. He started to promote the business among his colleagues, and all was well. Except for her having to fire her niece. This was a blessing in disguise, since said niece was unhappy anyway. Tabatha was annoyed that she practically had to drag it out of her though. I could relate to the wife’s issues about support. It was like the difference between my husband taking something to the post office for me, and sharing the link to my eBay store. Support comes in many forms.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Michael finds Mike on the balcony. Mike says he’s busy. He’s getting some fresh air, since the air is getting thick inside.

Carly introduces Stella to Sonny. She won’t sugarcoat, and says Alzheimer’s is completely life-changing. The good news is, they’re not alone, and she’ll do everything in her power to help them prepare for what’s coming.

At the station, Anna tells Jordan she’ll do anything she can to help. Jordan tells her to deal with Henrik.

Griff opens Peter’s chart, remembering what Anna said about Henrik having Huntington’s disease, and Peter saying his father had it. Peter asks if Griff is ready for him.

Nina reads to Maxie from a baby magazine about women kneeling during delivery, and catching the baby with their hands. She asks if that’s a thing. Maxie just wants the office visit over. She can’t handle the what ifs; what if the baby has Huntington’s, what will she do, and how will she handle it alone? Nina says she’s not alone. Maxie says she needs a distraction. Nina looks over and sees Elizabeth arguing with Sam, and says, now we’re talking.

Sam thinks Franco knows something. She tells Elizabeth if he did anything to Drew, she’ll take him out herself. Take him out where? BA-DUM-CHH! Actually, that would solve Sam’s problem if she was minus one guy.

Jordan tells Anna she has nothing on Henrik. All she knows is he possibly paid Klein to keep Jason at the clinic. Klein has disappeared, which is no surprise, since there are arrest warrants out on him. It’s the only thing keeping the case open. She has no time or resources to prove Henrik exists, let alone to find him.

Griff is happy to report Peter has no trace of the offending protein. He can go back to his life without worrying or being concerned about passing down the gene to children he might have. Peter is thankful for Griff’s help. Griff say they have one more thing discuss. Other people in his family might not be as fortunate.

Maxie wonders if they should do something, but Nina says it looks personal. Elizabeth asks what makes Sam think Franco did anything to Drew? Sam says because Franco is known to be dangerous. Elizabeth is skeptical that Sam really cares; she cares more about Drew than Sam. Sam asks what that means. Elizabeth says it means if Drew is in trouble she’s happy to help, but Sam isn’t making it easy. Sam says Drew didn’t come home last night, and she has to find him. She thinks Franco is the only lead. Elizabeth tells her to start from the beginning.

Nelle brings up Morgan’s MyFace <snort> page on her laptop, and starts to open a box that came in the mail. Ava comes in, and Nelle tells her not much is going on. Ava thinks it’s time to access the damage from the earthquake. Nelle says it could have been worse, and hands her a report. Ava is impressed, and Nelle says Ava told her that she wanted her to take more initiative. Ava says she even opened the mail, but Nelle tells her the package is part of her plan to neutralize Carly.

Stella tells Sonny and Carly that she’s met her share of families facing the same thing, and is up-to-date in ways of coping, ways to manage the disease, and information for Mike while he can still understand. She tells them to expect memory loss and confusion. She’s not sure how long it will be before his skills are entirely gone. Sonny says it’s not that bad, and Stella says, for the moment. Right now, they can set aside the day to day, and focus on long term concerns.

Mike talks to Michael about the rose bushes. Michael says spring is around the corner; they should be popping soon, but they’re not as beautiful as his great-grandmother’s rose garden. Mike says he knows Lila. Michael says his dad planted a cutting from her, and it thrived. Mike says he’s not surprised. She has a heart of gold. Everything she touches blossoms – except that son-of-a-gun she’s married too. He doesn’t know how she puts up with him. He asks how they are, and Michael tells him that Lila and Edward passed away. Mike says, right; he knew that. Michael says it’s an easy one to forget. You can still feel their presence. That happens with people who are larger than life; they leave an impact on those they loved. Sonny comes out, and asks Mike to come in for a second. There’s someone he wants Mike to meet.

Jordan has received a request from the WSB, and she has no time for all of this. Anna says it’s her fault for pushing the bureau for updates. She didn’t think they’d push Jordan. They can’t close the file on Faison until they have more information on his son.

Griff says Peter mentioned his father’s condition came as a surprise. Peter says what remained of his family died with his father. He had a brother he never knew, who passed as well. Griff looks worried, which was his specialty after med school.

Sam says Drew wasn’t at work, he’s not at the Quartermaine’s, and he’s not answering his phone or texts. Elizabeth asks why she suspects Franco, and Sam tells her the last thing Drew told her was that he was dealing with Franco, and he’s been missing ever since. Elizabeth says it sounds like Franco is the one in danger.

A doctor comes out to tell Maxie that Kim was delayed, but she has the test results.

At the MetroCourt, Andre asks Anna how it went. She wants to drink some tea before she fires off a tirade to the idiot who sent a request about Henrik to Jordan. Instead of actually doing something useful, someone from the bureau decided to push for an update from the PCPD, who don’t even have proof Henrik exists. She says they’re either incompetent or lazy, and they’ll either be demoted to mail clerk or vaporized. Andre is more worried about her, and what the search is doing to her.

Elizabeth tells Sam that she hasn’t seen Franco since last night, but she wasn’t expecting to; they got into a fight. With all the Jim mess, and the memories of their childhood coming to the surface, she figured he was holed up in his studio. Sam starts to get stupid, and Elizabeth says she’s not doing this. She doesn’t care who went after who; she’s going to find Franco. She leaves, and Sam follows. Why so much makeup today, ladies?

Nelle tells Ava that she and Carly had a bit of a reconciliation over the baby. She explains what happened during the earthquake, and how Carly calmed her down. Ava says, will wonders never cease, and Nelle says, with Carly they do. She couldn’t wait to undermine Nelle again. Her apartment was trashed, and Monica insisted she stay at the Quartermaines’. Ava says she must be thrilled, living under the same roof as Michael. Nelle says she had no time to enjoy it before Carly badmouthed her. Ava says she might as well back off, and Nelle asks if Ava thinks she should let it go. Ava says, no. She’s just saying there are worse ideas. Nelle wonders if Ava was hit on the head in the earthquake, but Ava says maybe it’s in her best interest to play nice. Carly can be a formidable adversary. If her plan fails, Carly will come after her, no holds barred.

Mike is introduced to Stella, who says Sonny is almost as handsome as his father. Mike asks how they know each other. Stella says she asked to meet him; they need to discuss his diagnosis. As the disease progresses, he’ll be unable to make decisions, and they need to seize his clarity now and make those decisions before it’s too late. He asks what happens if, down the road, he doesn’t like the decisions they made today? Carly says she and Sonny are there to help. Sonny asks Mike to sign a paper that allows them to handle his affairs. Mike says it’s power of attorney. Sonny wants him to sign his life away?

Sonny says he’s not signing his life away, and Mike says just the ability to control it. Sonny already cost him his job. Sonny says he missed a delivery. Mike says Sonny called him there. He had a job, and a woman he cared about, and ever since Sonny arrived, he’s had nothing. Now Sonny wants him to sign his rights over. Michael says he knows Mike misses his neighborhood, but he’s here because his diagnosis is getting worse. He has to plan for his future. Mike says, easy for Michael to say; he has a future. Michael says he had to pick a guardian for his unborn child in case something happens to him. Mike asks who he is in this situation? Michael or the helpless child? He’s still a man, and won’t have any of them telling him any different. He walks back out on the balcony, and Sonny tells Carly to let him go; it’s on him.

Elizabeth and Sam go to the station. They tell Jordan about Franco and Drew being missing. Jordan asks if it’s been since the earthquake. Elizabeth says they survived the quake, but she’s not sure they’ll survive each other.

Anna tells Andre that she’s frustrated. Henrik has no idea he might have a fatal genetic illness, and she feels the need to warn him. Andre thinks she should take a step back and review her course of action. If she finds him, she could put herself and her family at risk.

Maxie tells Nina she has to call her family. Nina sits on the couch and weeps. Griff sees her, and asks if she’s okay. She says Maxie had the baby tested for Huntington’s disease, and just got the results.

Peter sees Maxie, and asks if she’s all right. She says she just got the results, and the baby doesn’t have Huntington’s disease. He hugs her and says, that’s great news. It was really good of them to make us think the opposite for a while.

Sam tells Jordan that Drew said he was going to see Franco. The last time she heard from him, he said he was dealing with Franco, and hung up. He’s been gone ever since. All they know for sure is that Jim told them an incident happened between them when they were kids. Jordan asks what the hell does this have to do with Jim?

Andre tells Anna that it’s more likely than not Henrik was Faison’s accomplice. Her investigation might not end there; who knows what plots he might be involved in? He doubts Henrik would welcome a visit from a WSB agent, even if it’s his mother. If he’s anything like Faison, he could harm her. She says she has no way to know if he’s evil incarnate or blameless, or like most people, somewhere in the middle. Until she has proof otherwise, she’s giving him the benefit of the doubt. Andre wonders if she’ll turn him in if she does get proof.

Nina tells Griff that she doesn’t know what Maxie would have done if the baby had Huntington’s disease. Griff is thrilled; they need a breather. Nina says it feels like the first time she can breathe since Nathan was killed. She was so angry, and remembers running past Peter, wanting to kill Faison. Thank God that Valentin was there, or she probably would have been arrested. Griff wonders what Peter was doing there. Nina says he was at Crimson with Maxie, and thinks Faison tried to shoot him, but she really doesn’t know.

Maxie asks what Peter is doing at the hospital. He thought she might need support, but she says Nina came with her. He says Nina has been way protective, and he doesn’t want to intrude. Maybe they shouldn’t tell her. In the most perfect soap timing of all, Nina is suddenly there, and says – let’s all say it together – don’t tell me what? I laugh.

Nelle asks if Ava is advising her to back off, but Ava says she’s advising other tactics. She’s living under Michael’s roof. Nelle says until Carly convinces him to show her the curb. Ava tells Nelle it will just make Carly look bad. Sit back, and let Carly do her job for her. Nelle says she can’t let Carly take away Michael and the baby, but Ava asks why rock things when she’s close to getting everything out of the way? Nelle says she’ll have everything when Carly is out of the way.

On the balcony, Mike tells Sonny that everyone is looking at him funny, like he’s the only one not in on the joke. Sonny says everyone is working together. Mike says, to sign away his independence. Sonny says it just allows them to take care of him when he can’t take care of himself, and that day is going to come. Unless Mike is afraid to trust him. Mike says Sonny knows better. He’s afraid the day will come when he doesn’t know anything. The way Sonny sees it, is when that day does come, he’ll either face it alone or not. They’re all he has, so let them take care of him. He’d do the same for them. Mike starts to cry. Sonny cries. I cry. This guy is killing me.

Carly wishes they’d been more prepared. Stella asks how you prepare someone to lose control of their life? How do you prepare for a family member disappearing before your eyes? It takes its toll, but by doing this, they’re taking effective action. They’ll help Mike get his ducks in a row, clean up his finances, and walk him through the long-term care decisions. She leaves to get some brochures from her car. Michael reminds Carly that he’s there; they don’t have to handle it alone. Carly says he has a baby on the way, and the baby’s mother to deal with. She’s sure Nelle is milking it for all it’s worth. He tells her that she’ll be happy to hear he has a date, but don’t expect wedding bells. She says Nelle will lose it when she finds out, but he thinks maybe it will help her understand that, aside from the baby, they have separate lives.

Elizabeth tells Jordan that she told Franco not to come home, but he missed his art therapy appointments, and no one has seen him. Jordan tells them that Jim is involved in another matter that she’s trying to connect him to. Sam asks if it could be a link. Jordan says find Franco and Drew, and talk to them. She’s not going to assign a detective to find two grown men. Sam says she guesses this means they’re on their own. Jordan tells them to be careful when it comes to Jim. Don’t trust a word out of his mouth. Elizabeth and Sam look at each other.

Nelle takes out the scarf like Morgan is wearing in his profile picture. She messes it up, putting mud on it. She cuts her hand open with a pair of scissors, and puts her blood on it. She says this will hurt Carly more than it hurts her.

Stella brings in the brochures, saying they might not need them for some time, but they all have resources for Alzheimer’s care. Mike comes back in, and picks up the paper. He signs it, using Michael’s back as a board. He tells Michael to do them both a favor. Live a long, full life, but don’t get old. Everyone smiles.

Sonny thanks Stella for her patience. She says he’s the one who made the effort. Sonny says it was relatively painless. Stella tells him they got through it, but the hard part starts now. Stella says, it’s a hard road, and she’s referring to him. The confusion and feeling of powerlessness; the unreliable memory will bring up things he thought were buried for good. She says support is available, and Sonny says he’ll be fine. Stella says he’d rather die than accept help; she’s met his kind before. She tells him that Alzheimer’s bends to no one’s will, not even his. He can’t help his father if he can’t help himself. He should take support when it’s given.

Elizabeth tells Sam that Franco isn’t the only person who doesn’t trust Jim. She thought something off; if only she hadn’t been distracted. If only she was here. I’d punch her. Saying this after she couldn’t wait to tell Elizabeth what Jim had said, and acting like it was the gospel truth. Elizabeth says she’s coming with Sam, but Sam says she works alone. She said that to annoy me even more, since she followed Elizabeth there. Elizabeth says they don’t have to like it, but they’re on the same side. Sam says once they find Franco and Drew, she’s on her own.

Nina asks Peter and Maxie what the big secret is. Maxie says they might as well tell her. Peter was there to talk to the doctor about getting a vasectomy. Nina says Crimson is doing an article on them, and he says that’s what started him thinking about it. Nina tells him they’re doing before and after interviews, but he says that he decided it wasn’t for him, so he’d be useless. Maxie says there’s plenty else he’d be good for, and Peter raises an eyebrow. Me too. What does she mean by that? Was that an innuendo?

Anna tells Andre that she did everything to cover her tracks, and failed. Then she paid the price. Whoever Henrik is now, she’s the one who put his life on course. She gave him up and walked away, never looking back. Andre says she didn’t know Faison found him, and she’s not responsible for how he grew up. The same way she’s not responsible if he has the gene. She says it’s on her to find him. When she does, she’ll figure out what comes next.

Griff looks over some charts, comparing them. He calls Brad, and says he needs a rush on a paternity test.

On Monday, Brad asks Griff why the test is so important, Sam and Elizabeth find Jim, and Jason wants to know why Anna is interested in finding Henrik.

👪 Tonight, on Relative Success with Tabatha, Tabatha tackled a real estate office. Sadly, the married couple who ran the business decided it was time to call their relationship quits, but on the upside, the business made a huge turnaround. Tabatha might have had only half the success, but it’s good to show the viewers that you don’t always get a completely happy ending.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Maxie doesn’t know what she was thinking, bringing Peter along. He has other things to do, like run a company. Peter says he volunteered. The company will be fine. He wonders if she’s changed her mind, but she says she hasn’t. She asks him not to tell Nina; she might freak out.

Meanwhile, Nina is already in Kim’s office. She has a question about pregnancy.

Maxie tells Peter if Faison had a 50% chance of having the disease, and so did Nathan, that brings her baby’s chances down to 25%, which is practically nothing. Peter says she has to deal with the facts. She tells him that’s easy for him to say, when he doesn’t have to worry about it. Jason is wandering around, and Maxie says she never got a chance to introduce them. So was Henrik wearing a mask the whole time at the clinic?

Mike says that Sonny wanted him to come for a visit, so he came for visit. That’s all. He’s not moving in.

Franco and Elizabeth kiss. He’s glad she’s okay. She thinks it’s weird that Jason and Sam were the ones who rescued him. He says irony aside, he’s glad they didn’t get hurt. Elizabeth can’t wait to hear the whole story. She tells him that he should check on his dad. He was pretty out of it, but did manage to say he was sorry Franco’s secret kept him from their wedding day.

Sam tells Drew they have to talk when they get home, but he says they should talk now. Jim comes out of the elevator, and says he’s glad he caught Drew. He hopes he’s not interrupting anything important, but Drew says it’s not a good time. Sam tells him that they need to get home. Drew tells Jim that his wife almost died at his Charles Street site. Jim wonders what she was doing there, and Sam says saving someone trapped in the trailer. Jim asks, who? and Drew says, Franco.

Franco tells Elizabeth not to take stock in anything Scotty has to say. She says Scotty told her that Franco loved her, and felt awful that his secret kept him away. She’s just glad he’s okay. He says if he hadn’t gotten sidetracked by the earthquake, he would have been there on time. She says clearly something is eating him up, and don’t pretend. He asks if it would be okay if he didn’t tell her. She asks if they’ll be okay if he doesn’t.

Nina tells Kim that she was pregnant in her early 20s. Kim says she read Nina’s history of complications. Nina says that’s a nice way of saying she was in a coma, and the baby didn’t make it. She was told she could never get pregnant again. Kim says she’s sorry, but Nina says she moved on and came to terms with it. She’s now a stepmother to an amazing girl; life has a way of working out, and she’s very lucky. Her sister-in-law just lost her husband, Nina’s brother Nathan, and he’ll never see his baby. Kim is sorry for their loss. Nina says she’s heard great things about Kim, and maybe she can look at her case with fresh eyes. There have been advances in reproductive medicine, and she’s wondering if there’s any chance she could get pregnant again.

Peter says he was in the room when Jason broached the subject of Nathan’s interview to Lulu. Maxie wonders how that happened, since he doesn’t work there. He’s usually oblivious of the media, unless he’s hiding from it. Jason says he was hoping to draw out Faison’s son, Henrik.

Mike says he always loved Port Charles. Sonny has done well, but it’s too big for his taste. Brooklyn is more his style. He’s at home there; it’s where he belongs. He has to go back. He’ll say his goodbyes now, and get a head start in the morning. Sonny tells him to hold on. He’s starting to think Mike has a problem with him. Mike says, no, and Sonny asks why he’s in such a hurry then. Why is he so anxious? Mike asks why Sonny is anxious for him to stay. He tells Sonny to say it. He doesn’t think Mike can hack it on his own.

Nina was wondering if there have been any recent breakthroughs, but Kim says she’s not aware of any that would help Nina’s situation. She wishes there was something she could do, and Nina says it was worth a shot. She’s still lucky; she has an incredible family. They could have used some good news. Kim asks if she’s getting enough rest. Nina says she’s just going through the motions, and doesn’t know what’s real. She’s trying to keep it together for her family.

Maxie asks Jason what he’s going to do to Henrik, and Jason says first he has to find him. She says he has Spinelli, and they’ll track him down, but then what? Jason says he’s going to ask why Henrik kept him live, and why he was kept prisoner at the clinic for five years. Maxie wonders if he’s going to ask if Henrik was in on Faison’s kidnapping plan. Jason says he talked to Faison, and he seemed angry that Henrik didn’t kill him. She says he may have been lying, and Jason says, anything is possible. Maxie says if Henrik wasn’t in on the plan, he didn’t do anything to hurt her, and it wouldn’t be fair to hurt him. But if he was helping Faison, she wants to make him pay.

Mike says Sonny thinks he’ll make a mess of things if he’s on his own. He gets respect in his neighborhood, and he has responsibilities. Sonny says he talked to Caruso, and all that ended after the last mix-up. Carly says she’d welcome a chance to spend more time with him. He says she’s the one who told his girlfriend to ditch him. Carly says she’s sorry if she spoke out of turn, but don’t let her mistake ruin anything; his family is here. He says he’ll visit more often. Sonny tells Mike that he’s not himself. He doesn’t want him cooking dinner, and burning down the apartment. Mike says, why? It will get his deadbeat dad out of his life for good.

Elizabeth tells Franco that they talked about secrets. If they get married, they have to trust each other, whatever they’re dealing with. Franco says at some point, his past will be too much, but she says that hasn’t happened yet. He doesn’t know how she does that; it turns his stomach. She says whatever he tells her, she can roll with it. She knows his struggles. She doesn’t always agree with his methods of dealing with things, but she’s seen him confront his demons and put them behind him. She loves him, and continues to believe in their love. Franco flashes back to Jim saying that one day Elizabeth will lose faith. Franco says he does believe. That’s why he came to the church where she was waiting. She says, where she knew he’d show. They agree not to let the past get in the way, and embrace.

Jim tells Sam he must have just missed them. Sam says, he was there? Jim says he and Franco were both thrown, and when his head cleared, he ran to call for help. By the time he came back, they were gone. Jim is impressed that Sam saved Franco, and she tells him that Jason was with her. She wonders why Franco was there instead of at his wedding. Jim says there’s something they need to know about Franco.

Sonny asks, if he wants to get rid of Mike, why is he trying so hard to get him to stay? Mike says they’ll be telling him what to do, and track his every move. They’ll lock the door and throw away the key. It’s revenge, plain and simple. Sonny wants to him get back because he left Sonny’s mom. Sonny says, wrong. Does Mike think he wants to see his dad deteriorate little by little? Mike says nobody is asking him to be a hero. Just let him go.

Kim tells Nina there are advances all the time. She can always hope. Nina says she’s trying to find balance with hope and self-indulgence. She has a stepdaughter to fill the emptiness in her heart, and she needs to focus on her upcoming niece or nephew instead of a pipe dream. Kim tells her not to hesitate to reach out. Nina leaves the office, and sees Maxie and Peter.

Franco busts into Scotty’s room, startling him. He asks why Scotty is so jumpy, and Scotty says he thought it was Epiphany. He complained about the chipped beef, and she threatened to take his button away. Franco wants to know why Scotty sabotaged his future with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth sees Jason. He asks if Jake is okay, and she says the boys thought the earthquake was epic. He guesses it depends on your perspective. She says they were with Bobbie, and it was fine where she lives. He says he was at the Quartermaine’s. A few things got broken, and that was the worst of it. She tells him the boys have off from school. She would tell him to stop by, but doesn’t think Jake is ready. Jason understands; He just wanted to make sure Jake was okay. Elizabeth thanks him for the both of them for saving Franco. He says, honestly, if it had been up to him, he would have left him there.

Drew tells Jim to talk. He says Franco came to him, hyped up. He said he remembered something, and wanted Jim to confirm what he did to Drew. Betsy gave him away because of Franco. He pushed Drew down a flight of stairs, then laughed. A kid young as he was, tried to kill him. Please don’t tell me they believe anything this jerk has to say.

Mike tells Sonny, let’s make it easy. He’ll go home, they go back to their lives, and pretend this never happened. Sonny says until he gets a call about Mike walking down Neptune Avenue in a bathrobe. Mike says, who cares? It’s by the beach. He says Sonny is worried he’ll embarrass him. What else is new? He’s always been embarrassed by Mike. Carly tells Sonny to back off. She tells Mike that they would love for him to stay, but can’t stop him from going. Sonny says unless a judge says he’s not competent. Carly says they’re not doing anything. He’s welcome there any time. Sonny says he’ll make sure his people look after Mike, and Mike says now Sonny is palming him off on strangers. He tells Sonny not to hire anyone. He’ll get along fine with Tammy’s help. Carly asks if that’s a friend of his, and he says that’s his girlfriend, Tammy Hanson. Carly says she moved away a long time ago. Mike says they live together. He thinks about it, and says not Tammy; it’s Mary. Sonny says, it’s Rita.

Nina says Maxie didn’t have an appointment today. Maxie says she wasn’t expecting to see her. Kim tells Maxie and Peter that she’ll be right back, and to on in. Nina follows them, and tells Maxie that she thought they’d synced their calendars. Maxie says they did, but it was last minute. She just needed a test done, and she ran into Peter, who insisted on coming so she wasn’t alone. Nina asks what test, and Maxie says an amniocentesis. Nina asks if the baby is okay, and Maxie says that’s what they’re there to find out.

Drew says, so Franco tried to kill him when they were kids, around two or three years old, and Jim says he saw it. He happened to be watching them. Betsy went to the market, and he turned his back for half a second. When Betsy came home, she was horrified, and made up a cover story. The incident made her realize that she couldn’t keep both of them. What if Franco hurt him again? So, she decided to give him away. She knew he’d be okay on his own, but Franco was a detriment to himself and others, and she’d keep trying to fix him. Sam asks why he didn’t say anything before, and he says he felt guilty. If he’d kept a better eye on them, it wouldn’t have happened. He’d thought Franco had forgotten, but when he remembered, Jim knew he hadn’t changed a bit.

Franco knew Scotty would never play the role of a doting father. Scotty says a stab in the back is better than a severed artery. He was bleeding out at the church. Franco says, then you call 911, not blab private business. Scotty says he was in shock. Franco says Scotty doesn’t get to speak for him unless he’s on retainer. Scotty gets it. He’s glad Franco is alive, and Franco says he’s glad Scotty is too. Scotty asks where he was.

Jason tells Elizabeth that Sam was at the Quartermaine’s and wanted to check on Drew. They found Mike, who said someone was trapped. Sam took him while Jason went to search. Elizabeth tells him that Sam left Mike with her at All Saints, and to thank her. She’s glad Sam made it back. He says she found him, along with Franco pinned under a cabinet. He was going to leave him, but Sam wouldn’t let him. She’s the one who saved Franco’s life.

Nina tells Maxie that she could believe Faison had a brain disease, but Nathan? Maxie says there was a 50% chance Nathan would have it, and he’d want her to check the baby. Nina asks why Maxie didn’t tell her, and Maxie says she didn’t want to worry her. Nina says it’s her job to worry, and Maxie’s job to carry the baby to full term. They’re in this together.

Mike asks what happened to Rita, and Carly tells him that she said she wanted to be by herself. She says she thought she told him, and he says he would remember. She tells him it must have slipped her mind. Rita cares about him, but wants to be by herself. Mike says, who could blame her? She’s a nice lady, and they had a good run. She didn’t sign up for what’s happening to him. Sonny says he’s sorry, and Carly has an idea. Since things aren’t working out with Rita, why doesn’t he stay longer with them? He’s already a big help around the house. He says it’s not his place; it’s his son’s and Sonny might not like it. Carly tells him not to be silly. The thing about families is that stuff comes up, then it gets better.

Scotty says, Jim was there when Drew took a header? Franco says when he confronted Jim, he said he was supposed to be watching things. It got quiet, and he checked on them. He saw them on the stairs, and Franco pushed Drew. He was smiling when he did it. Scotty says it doesn’t add up. Franco says there’s something Jim isn’t saying. He knows Franco knows something. That’s why he left him in the trailer. Scotty says Jim didn’t want him to make it. He would have been a goner if Sam and Jason hadn’t shown up.

Elizabeth tells Jason if they hadn’t saved Franco, she and Jake would be grieving for someone they love. Jason says that’s what Sam said; it wasn’t worth her or Jake’s grief.  He says he can’t change what Franco did, so he’ll have to try and accept it, and move on. Elizabeth says he can do more than that. He can consider the possibility of redemption.

Jim says he told Franco that he remembered change came over him, and Franco threatened him. He told him not to breathe word about it, especially to Drew. Drew says, or what? Jim says he didn’t ask; Franco’s eyes said it all. He remembered that look from when Franco was a kid. At that moment, he realized Franco hadn’t changed. Now he’s marrying that nice woman with the beautiful kids. He tracked Drew down, since he’ll know what to do. Jim leaves, and I get the feeling Drew isn’t completely buying this. I hope not. Jimbo was being a tad dramatic too.

Drew tells Sam if it’s true, than something needs to happen. He’s going to take care of this. He walks away, and Sam calls after him, asking what he’s going to do.

Kim says she’s ready, and Maxie says Nina is staying. Nina walks Peter out, and he says he hopes he didn’t overstep. She says she’s sure his intentions were pure, but he is Maxie’s boss. In this age of enlightenment, it’s best he keeps it professional. He says of course. He sees Nurse Deanna, and asks if she knows of a doctor who can give him a full genetic workup.

Franco tells Scotty he can’t worry about Jason. He’s going to hate him forever. Sam wouldn’t let Jason kill him, so he considers it a win. He needs to focus on Elizabeth, and set a new date. Scotty thinks they should do everyone a favor and elope. Franco says first, he has to figure out this things with Jim. Scotty says don’t tell Elizabeth, but are the rings insured?

Mike supposes he can try living there for a bit, and see how works out. Carly says, great. Michael and Dante will be happy. Mike says he’s tired, and asks Sonny to tell Caruso he’s been delayed, and might not make the drop-off on the dot. Sonny says he’ll tell him, and Mike says, but he’ll be there. He goes upstairs. Sonny looks even more tired than Mike.

Drew finds Franco. He wonders if Franco is the man who saved his life, or the guy who tried to kill him.

Elizabeth tells Jason that Franco wasn’t in control, but he’s still sorry. Every day he tries to be better and make amends. Jason says he found Michael in his prison cell, raped by a man that Franco sent. He watched as Franco carried out a naked Sam, and made them think he had raped her. He can’t consider the possibility. He let him live, and hopes he gets what he deserves. Elizabeth leaves, and Sam asks if everything is okay. Jason says everything is the same. Elizabeth sees Franco one way, and he sees Franco another. Sam asks if it wasn’t enough that they saved his life. Jason says he told her the truth; he was going to leave him there, and she wouldn’t let him. Sam says don’t make her sound so noble. She didn’t want to keep the secret. In the end, it’s not worth it. Sam says she still hasn’t told Drew that she loves him. Elizabeth hears.

On Monday, Mike has to make decisions, Ava hopes to get a more permanent arrangement with Avery, and Drew tells Franco that he’s going to stop hiding things.

🙆 Tabatha & My Digression of the Week

I’m loving Relative Success with Tabatha. She’s one of those people like Gordon Ramsay, with a hard exterior, but extremely caring on the inside, who can wear as many hats as you can stack on their heads. I love a business improvement show, and so far, Tabatha has perfected a jewelry business, a gym, a deli, a pizzeria, a design team, and a restaurant. The twist here being that every business is family owned and run, I’m amazed at how diplomatic Tabatha is, although at least once she’s had to remove herself from the room before saying something she’d regret.

While I’ve never had first-hand experience being part of a family business, I can tell you this much – you do not want to work for one. My post high school job before moving to NYC, was working for an Army/Navy store that was family run, and they all worked there in some capacity. The main owner, and patriarch, was a great guy, but he was hardly ever around, mostly working in another branch of the store. His oldest son and daughter-in-law, however, were always around, and always fighting. Showdown in aisle 13! They weren’t shy about sharing every detail, and you didn’t even have to ask. It did have its perks though. We got massive discounts, and they had very cool stuff. I still have some of the clothes I bought there. I also went out with the owner’s younger son once. Only once not because we didn’t click, but we both moved. Although the date did have a couple of awkward moments. We went to see The Man Who Fell to Earth at the arthouse cinema, and he forgot his wallet. We went back to his house to get it, and of course I had to go to the bathroom. And of course his father came home in the meantime. After I was living in the city, and my absent-minded date was in pilot school in Florida we wrote back and forth a bit. In one of the letters he sent, he told me about a subway token he’d found on the beach there. He was including it, since I could use it more than he could, but there was no token in the envelope. A day later, I got a note from him, along with the token, saying, does this remind you of another time?

Next time on Tabatha, a real estate office. She also gives me my first favorite quote of the week.

This family is f**king crazy. Tabatha Coffey

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Carly takes pictures of Oscar and Josslyn. She says they’ll be grateful when they’re older, and insists on Jason taking one with her in it. She leads Oscar away for a chat, and Josslyn is understandably mortified.

Sam and Drew make out at the dance, because they’re suddenly fourteen again. Lulu talks to Kim about the reason for the party, and Kim says it’s ultimately for the kids to just be themselves.

At the gallery, Nelle asks Michael if he’s listening. He says he was miles away, thinking about the future. The baby’s and theirs.

Curtis does push-ups in his cell. Jordan comes by, and he asks if she has any idea when her man is getting out of the clink. She says it’s beyond her control. He suggests she do something that is in her control, like tailing Jim and finding out what his plans are for Port Charles before it’s too late.

Epiphany tells Elizabeth that no one’s heard from Franco. Elizabeth checks her phone, and says, nothing. Epiphany says he’s not actually late yet. No need to panic… yet.

Franco insists Jim tell him what happened. Jim says he got himself riled over nothing. They were just little kids. Franco says his whole life he’s felt unraveled, but Jim thinks he’s making his own misery. He’s healthy, gainfully employed, and has a woman who loves him waiting at the church; isn’t it enough? Franco says when he stands next to Elizabeth, he wants to be the best possible human he can be. He wants to know what happened. Jim tells him to be careful what he wishes for. What if he digs for clues that don’t exist, and it ends up costing him everything he has?

On the phone, Valentin tells Nina not to rush. He’s at the restaurant and will grab a table. Peter approaches him, and asks if Valentin knew his father was sick. Valentin says a pigeon could tell he was deranged. Peter says he had a brain disease, and there’s a 50% chance it got passed on to him.

Carly interrogates Oscar. Among her many questions, she slips in asking if they stocked up on wine coolers. She tells him no drinking, or no him and Josslyn.

Josslyn tells Jason that she has it easy compared to Michael. She thinks he’d be happier if they’re mom laid off of him. He and Nelle are having a baby, and it would be better if they were together. Josslyn says her mom thinks she can run their lives better than they can, and Jason tells her that she sounds like her mom. She says it doesn’t make her wrong. Nelle did some spectacularly stupid stuff, but it doesn’t make her a bad person. Carly comes back, and tells Josslyn to post lots of pictures – on her real account, not the fake one she created for Carly to follow. Josslyn and Oscar leave. Jason says Josslyn seems to like her dress. Carly says she loves it, and when she wants something, she’s relentless. Jason gives her a look, and she says she knows. That’s what scares her. The dress is okay, but nothing spectacular like I expected. It’s kind of like the first dress Carly nixed, but off-white and patterned.

Michael tells Nelle that spending the day with his grandfather got him thinking. Mike isn’t doing so well. Nelle says she’s sorry, and she’s there for him. He says she can’t promise that; no one can. They have to think about what would happen to their child if they die or are incapacitated. When he saw his dad with his grandfather, he realized they can’t put it off. They have to choose who takes care of their child if something happens to them. Nelle says she has no family, which leaves his. She hopes he isn’t suggesting they give the baby to his mom. He says he has someone else in mind.

Epiphany asks if Elizabeth is sure she’s ready to marry someone who self-sabotages. Elizabeth says Franco doesn’t think he deserves the things he wants, but believes he’ll learn to trust himself. Scotty pops in, saying the guests are getting restless. Epiphany says they can’t start without Franco, and asks if Scotty has any idea where he is. Scotty says he’s not Franco’s wrangler. Epiphany says, no, but he’s Franco’s dad and best man. Scotty says he’ll find him.

Franco wants Jim to tell him what happened. Jim says he and Betsy weren’t together that long, but he cared for her, and could catch flak for this. Franco says the only person Jim has to worry about is him. If Jim doesn’t tell him, there’s going to be trouble. Jim says, not for him, just for Franco. He was there when Andy took a header down the stairs.

Lulu talks to the kids, saying she’s writing a piece for the Port Charles Press. What they’re doing deserves exposure. Oscar says they just want to have fun. They’re tired of the antiquated rules, and wanted an alternative where everyone can feel safe and welcome. A boy walks in who looks like trouble.

Franco calls Jim a liar, and says he wasn’t there. Jim says he was, and the lie was the lesser of two evils. Franco should be grateful that he had a good life. What if Jim wasn’t so discreet? Franco asks what he’s talking about. Jim says Franco remembers, but Franco says not all of it. Does Jim think he’d be there if he did? Jim says he’s just not man enough to admit it, and he’s making him do all the work. Don’t say he didn’t warn him. Franco tried to kill Andy.

Jordan asks if Curtis is going to tell her next that the moon landing didn’t happen, and to let go of the conspiracy theories. He can speculate all he wants, but without legal evidence, how can he prove it? He says he’ll do the speculating. Jim shows up, buys up most of Charles Street, and throws money at one of the candidates who supports his plan. Then, there’s a sudden spike in crime and the quality of life goes down. Jordan says it drives down the property values, he buys cheap, the redevelopment passes, and construction begins. Curtis says he promised the neighborhood an arena and condos, but he has something else planned. Curtis says, it’s bigger than him; it’s about the community. They need to do something before it’s too late.

Carly tells Jason that Josslyn isn’t afraid to dream big and go after her dreams. She thinks about the awful things she did when she was just a little older, and what would have happened if not for him. He says she would have figured it out on her own. She says, or turned out like Nelle, incapable of taking responsibility for anything. She tells Jason that everyone thinks he’s too easy on her, and so do I. It ticks me off how she keeps saying Nelle is just like she was, but won’t help her or cut her some slack. Jason doesn’t care what everyone else thinks. She’s a great mom, and Josslyn is turning into a great person. She’ll make mistakes, but they have to be hers. That’s how Carly is different from Nelle; she learns from her mistakes, and Nelle doesn’t. He gets a call, and has to go.

Nina tells Carly that she saw Josslyn’s Instagram post, and her dress is spectacular. They have one like it in the Crimson closet, but the design isn’t coming out until fall. She wonders how Josslyn got the dress, and Carly says Nelle gave it to her. She claimed she got it from a runway show Nina sent her to. Nina says she never sent Nelle to a runway show, and Carly tells her to check if the dress is still in the closet.

The kids dance, and the troublesome dude walks around scowling. He takes out a… tomato? He yells, freeze, and throws it. It’s a paintball, and hits Josslyn’s dress smack in the middle. Oscar takes him down. Drew intervenes.

Drew tells the kid he’s lucky he’s not calling the cops, and to get out. Drew tells Oscar it’s over, and he’s okay; don’t let him win. He needs to get the momentum at the dance back up. Kim thanks Drew for stepping in before it got out of control. He claims he’s just doing his job as a chaperone.

Josslyn says she’s okay, just stained. Lulu says, sorry, but it’s not coming out. One of the genderfluid kids says he was aiming for them. Josslyn says he has worse issues than his batting accuracy. She can’t believe he ruined the dance, but it’s agreed her dress looks kind of cool, and she calls it Jackson Pollocky. Drew asks if Sam can dance in the shoes she’s wearing. They need to get the party back on track.

Peter tells Valentin that with Huntington’s disease, you go insane, lose you motor skills, and die. Yikes. He says it manifests itself between the ages of thirty and fifty. Valentin says his father was definitely insane, and asks if Peter is going to get tested. He’s not sure if he wants to know, but Valentin encourages him to do it. Peter says his father also left a will. Drew and Jason are beneficiaries, and Faison left them a way to identify him, but it can only be accessed if one of them dies. Valentin says they hate each other, but hate Faison more. He asks if there were other beneficiaries, and Peter says the bulk of the estate was left to his son. Nina suddenly appears, and says he was a sick freak.

Nelle asks the baby if daddy scared it. She says he’s just being responsible, and at least he agreed not to give the baby to Carly. Carly won’t be an option by the time the baby is born though. By the time mommy is done with granny, she won’t be fit to raise a Chia Pet. Carly walks in, and asks if Nelle is talking to herself? It makes her sound crazy.

Jason meets Michael at the mansion. Michael tells him that he and Nelle are getting things ready for the baby in advance. Jason tells him to enjoy sleeping in unstained clothing while he can. Michael tells Jason that they’d like him to take care of baby if anything happens to the both of them. There’s no one he trusts more, unless asking too much, Jason says he’d be honored.

Epiphany tells Elizabeth that they’re officially running behind. Scotty says he checked everyone with a pulse at the hospital, and there’s no sign. Epiphany asks, what about the studio, and he says he’ll check there. Elizabeth says he doesn’t need to do that. If Franco was late, he would have called. He’s not there because, whatever his reason, he chose not to be. The wedding is off.

Franco says, that’s not what happened, and Jim says, yes it. He saw it unfold from start to finish. He was watching the boys, and realized he hadn’t heard a peep for a while. He saw Franco at the top of the steps, and had a smirk like he was ready to show off. One second, Andy was standing on the steps, and the next he wasn’t. He’ll never forget the sound of him hitting the basement floor.

Drew and Sam show off their dancing skills to the amazement of the kids. When they’re finished, Sam’s phone dings, and she tells Drew she has to pick up the kids, but he should stay.

Nelle warned Carly about calling her crazy. Carly asks what she’s going to do, take another swing at her or whine to Monica? Nelle says Monica cares about the baby; she doesn’t. Carly accuses her of using Monica and Josslyn. Nelle asks if she can’t be friends with her baby’s aunt. Carly says she’s only using Josslyn to get to Michael, and it ends now.

Elizabeth says she’s going to make an announcement, but doesn’t want the boys there. Epiphany says she’ll take them, but it’s still early. Does she want her to stay? Elizabeth says she’s a big girl, and can handle herself. Epiphany has no doubt, and says her no good fiancé better hope she forgives him before they cross paths. Scotty says the subways are more dependable than his son. He hasn’t been right since the Drew and Jason stuff came out.

Jordan tells Curtis that he’s not the only one doing some investigating. She put in a call to a professor at PCU. She wants a geologist’s opinion. With any luck, they’ll have more insight. They’ll know Jim’s plans for Port Charles by this time tomorrow.

Jim says Franco wanted to know, and now he does. Jim tells Franco that he’s been in hell, holding it in all these years. He promised Betsy that he’d never contradict her story, but here he is breaking his promise. I roll my eyes. Franco says, better late than never. Jim says no one else needs to know. Not Drew or his wife.

Michael asks Jason how many pictures his mom took of Josslyn and her date, and Jason says, a lot. Michael remembers dying of embarrassment, but sees things now from a different perspective, and wants to preserve the moments. He’s looked at his baby’s sonogram a million times. By the time his child is one, he’ll have taken the most photos in history. Jason talks about taking a picture of Michael each day when Carly was away. Sam comes in to pick up the kids, and Michael leaves. Sam asks if Jason wants to say goodnight to Danny before she takes him home.

Kim says Drew’s still got moves. She’s seen it before once or twice. It reminded her of a night in a packed bar when, dressed in his Navy blues, he served it up during What a Feeling. Josslyn and Oscar slip out of the dance.

Carly tells Nelle that she doesn’t learn from her mistakes. She lies, manipulates, and it blows up in her face. Then she dos it again. Like the dress charade with Josslyn. She stole the dress from Crimson’s closet, and gave it to Josslyn like it was hers. Nina say she has a four-figure bill coming her way. Nelle says Crimson has a million dresses, and what difference does it make if she took one for Josslyn. Carly says she didn’t do it for Josslyn. It was trashy and pathetic, just like her.

Scotty tells Elizbeth it’s Doc’s fault. If Franco had listened to him, and not let Doc into his head, none of this would have happened. Elizabeth says she encouraged him. He says with all due respect, that was misguided. Now Franco has lost the best thing that would have happened to him because he couldn’t keep a secret. Elizabeth asks what secret, and Scotty backtracks, saying he meant a secret feeling that he couldn’t keep to himself. He asks if she wants him to tell everyone, and she says she’ll do it. They’re her guests.

Jim says he won’t repeat it to anyone, and advises Franco to do the same. Franco says he can’t live with himself if he doesn’t, and Jim says if Drew finds out, he’ll be coming for him. What if Elizabeth learns what he’s capable of doing? What would stop him from sending one of her kids down the stairs. Franco says he’d never harm them. Since the tumor was removed, he’s been able to control his violent impulses. Jim asks if the tumor was there back then. Maybe it just enhanced what’s innate, and he was born bad.

Nina thinks any money Faison left should go to Maxie. Valentin says they’ll make sure she never wants for anything. Nina says it won’t replace her husband. Peter says Maxie has a strong support system, but Nina tells him it won’t bring back Maxie’s husband or her child’s father.

Elizabeth sighs and looks at her ring. She remembers Franco proposing, and we flash back to that. She says, time to call off the wedding.

Jim tells Franco to Imagine the effect on Elizabeth. Every day the nagging doubts wearing her down until she walks away. He doesn’t have to lose her; she doesn’t have to know. Franco asks why he cares. Jim says he’s trying to save him from himself. Franco says, you know what he thinks? He thinks nothing Jim says is true. He doesn’t think it happened that way. He thinks Jim is lying.

Jordan tells Curtis that she’ll let him know what the professor says. She gives him a kiss through the bars, and tells him to stay warm.

Nelle says Nina doesn’t know how to answer a phone. She hardly knows what’s in the closet. Carly is reaching. She’s desperate, and scared. All these years, holding Michael under her thumb, and now it’s going to bite her. She’s going to drive him away, and into Nelle’s arms.

Sam tells Jason he should feel honored that Danny will sleep at his place. He wonders if he should let Danny bring the dog, but Sam says if he does, she’ll never get Danny out.

Oscar and Josslyn go into the walk-in freezer. They kiss, and the lights go out. Everything starts to shake. The freezer door slams shut. We see the Floating Rib, the Quartermaine mansion, all over Port Charles, and how the entire town is shaking. Everyone runs for cover, and dives under things.

On Monday, there goes the neighborhood.

😶 Useless information: I’m pretty sure Nelle’s backstory about possibly killing her fiancé by pulling the plug in his kayak (come on, it even sounds ridiculous), was taken from the real life story of Angelika Graswold. I recently watched an old Dateline or 20/20 that covered the story. Even though Angelika pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, they proved on the show that removing the plug would do virtually nothing.

🍨 MasterChef Junior was back tonight, with the girls cooking filet mignon, and the boys making a chicken dish. As usual, I was hypnotized and amazed by the cooking skills of kids who could be my grandchildren… almost. One kid committed the worst cooking sin ever – raw chicken. I have always cooked the crap out of chicken to avoid this. Eight kids each from both groups were chosen to receive aprons and continue on.

🏰 I missed the first episode of the last season of Once Upon a Time, as well as tonight’s, but hope to catch up On Demand and do a mini-recap. It’s hard to invest when you know it’s going to disappear, poof! in a puff of multi-colored smoke. It was inevitable once they took the Friday death knell spot.

🐹 Some Digression…

🍴 I’m loving Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block (watching it right now On Demand), but I consistently get the two main characters mixed up because the actresses look very much alike. They’re supposed to be sisters, so nothing strange about that, but it got me thinking about Samuel L. Jackson. How did I make that jump? Thanks for asking. Samuel apparently got pretty pissed at a news anchor who mixed him up with Laurence Fishburne, asking if the dude thought all Black people look alike. Well, I know I don’t, but I also mix them up. Because sometimes two people do look alike. I’ve mixed up Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall too. I’ve even confused Glenn Close with Meryl Streep. Does this make me some kind of bigot offshoot who thinks all actors look alike? Sometimes over-sensitivity annoys me.

📡 Quote of the Week

This one is so good, I wanted it to stand alone. The irony is that, from what I see on the internet, some of the very people who claim to follow Dr. King’s teachings, are the ones who don’t heed his words.

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.Martin Luther King, Jr.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

It’s GH’s 14,000th episode.

New detective Chase comes to the gallery. Ava says the insurance value of the sculpture Mike broke is $14,000. The man is deranged and she wants him caught.

Sonny asks David if he knew something was wrong before referring him to Griff, but David thinks Griff is the doctor he should be talking to. Sonny says he must have seen the signs. Why didn’t David warn him?

Franco tells Elizabeth that he’s exactly where he wants to be. Elizabeth is glad they’re going to be spending the rest of their lives together. Epiphany sees them, and says, hell no.

Anna sees Finn talking to Alexis at the hospital desk, and turns away. Alexis bemoans another article about her tanking the election. She says no one should run who has skeletons in their closer. Finn mentions there’s an elephant in the room. Alexis sees Anna.

Carly goes with Jason to the station. She says she’s been getting calls for weeks. She says if the police can’t help them, they have Spinelli as a fallback. She wonders if she’s being ridiculous, and Jason says he wants to help her find out what happened. Dante asks them what’s going on, and Carly tells him that she’s been getting calls from a local number and no one is there. She called back, but no one answers. On one call, a male voice said, I’m here, then twenty minutes ago (two days in our time) she got this. She shows him her phone and says she heard an explosion. She wants Dante to trace the number, and he says okay. It must be nice to have friends in high places. There’s no way they’d bother with this IRL. You might even get reprimanded for being a time-waster.

Epiphany says she can’t let Elizabeth defy tradition; she doesn’t want to invite misfortune. Doc pops out of his office, and tells Franco it’s time to get started. Epiphany asks Elizabeth what her plans are for tonight, the night before the wedding. Elizabeth says she’s going to take a bubble bath, and Epiphany says, wrong. Epiphany is taking her out for a drink. Elizabeth is concerned that Epiphany wants to talk her out of marrying Franco, but Epiphany says Elizabeth’s friends spent the better part of the past year trying to convince her not to marry him. What would be the point?

In Doc’s office, Franco is worried that if Elizabeth finds out he’s keeping another secret, she’ll never trust him again.

Alexis tells Anna that they just came from an AA meeting, and Anna says she was there for an appointment. She says she’s sorry about the election. Alexis was trying to do a good thing, and didn’t deserve what happened. Anna leaves, and Alexis calls Finn a silver-tongued devil. He couldn’t even choke out her name. She tells him to clear up the misconception, and go after her. He doesn’t see a need for that. He told her how he feels, and she shot him down.

David says he’s told Sonny what he could. Technically, he shouldn’t be discussing Mike’s case with him. Sonny says Mike didn’t believe the diagnosis, and stormed out. They haven’t seen him since. They don’t have the greatest relationship, but Mike has always been a capable guy, and able to think on his feet. This has to be worst thing in the world.

Ava talks to Chase, who says it will help if she gives him the security footage.  Griff shows up, and asks what’s going on. Ava says a disoriented guy came into the gallery, broke a statue, and ran off. He asks if she was threatened, and she says no, but she felt unsafe; the guy was out of control. She goes to her laptop to get the footage. Chase tells her that he’ll forward it to all local units, and leaves. Griff looks at the screen and says he knows that guy. We see a still shot of Mike at the gallery.

In the interrogation room, Jason asks Carly when the phone calls started, and she tells him the beginning of February. At first, she thought it was a wrong number, but the calls kept coming. All three of them? Then on Valentine’s Day, she heard a young man’s voice say, I’m here. Jason says that was a week ago, and asks why she waited so long. Carly didn’t think it was important. He says, maybe, but if it’s bothering her, it’s important to him. She says this is why she missed him. She can always come to him no matter what shows up. He’s the first person who did that for her. She counts on him, and knows she takes advantage, but he loves her. He says he does, and if something is bothering her, he wants to fix It. She wants him to let her do the same. She says the only reason Sam married Drew is because she’s running. Jason tells her to stop. Dante comes in, and says he got a hit on the phone number.

At the bar, Elizabeth is worried that Epiphany has set her up, but Epiphany says it’s just them. Elizabeth tells her it’s hard being surrounded by friends smiling and wishing her well, when they’re thinking it’s a mistake. Epiphany tells her to forget her friends; what does she think?

Franco wants Doc to be able to tell him that Elizabeth and the kids are safe, and there’s no weird monster inside of him. Doc says he can’t do that. He can help Franco with what’s troubling him, but Franco has to tell him. Franco says he and Drew were playing hide and seek. He found Drew in a toy chest, locked it, and left him in it.

Sonny asks how long the progression is, and David says it’s not his area of expertise, but some medications work in some cases. Even so, the best that can be hoped for is to slow the deterioration. The long term is inevitable. Sonny says it sounds grim, and David says he’s sorry. Sonny appreciates his honesty, and that he’s not sugarcoating. Sonny gets a call from Griff. Griff asks if he’s found his father. Sonny says, no, and Griff tells him to get to Ava’s gallery.

Anna sits at the bar, messing with her phone. Andre asks if this seat is taken, and she asks what took him so long.

Dante tells Carly it’s a pay phone off of Route 35 by the river. There haven’t been any reports of an incident in the vicinity, but he has to follow up.

Elizabeth tells Epiphany that she and the boys see the real Franco, but everyone else seems to be waiting for him to prove he’s as bad as they thought. Epiphany says they trust her judgement. She just hopes Elizabeth is right. They love her, and remember Franco’s life before the tumor was removed.

David sees Kiki studying in a booth at the bar. She groans over her studies, and he tells her that she’s going to need more than coffee to survive; she needs sustenance. He orders ribs, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and two plates. He says he can’t have his future intern collapsing from hunger, and asks, what’s stumping her?

Anna tells Andre she’s glad he’s there, and he says he is too. He didn’t expect it. The bureau is reviving the memory mapping program. In exchange for his cooperation, his sentence was commuted and his record expunged. He says it had to have come from someone high up. She wouldn’t know about that, would she? Whoever it is, he owes them. Anna asks if he thinks he can duplicate the procedure without his research notes, and he says he’s reasonably confident. He’d rather it be funded by the WSB than a faceless backer who turns out to be Faison. Anna says even though know she knows he’s dead, she still feels sick hearing his name. Andre says she suffered severe trauma at his hand, especially when she thinks about the baby. She says she has no one to blame but herself, but Andre says she still doesn’t have to endure it alone. She needs  to confide in someone. She says she told him, but he says what about the man she’s grown close to? Has she told him?

Alexis tells Finn that the downside of running for mayor – besides losing – is that it negates the anonymous part of AA. People must either be thinking, hooray, she lost, or poor thing, she lost. He asks if she’s projecting a little, and says she shouldn’t second guess her campaign. She did something valuable. She says a lot of good it did, but he tells her to fight harder next time. She says this was the only time, and he says find another way to fight. She cared enough about the community to put herself out there; don’t be sorry for making an effort. She appreciates the encouragement, but tells him not to feel an obligation to prop her up because of last night. And last night can never happen again.

Sonny gets to the gallery. Ava says his father was disoriented, got agitated, and broke something, and she called the police before she knew who he was. Sonny wonders why he went there, and she says he thought it was Luke’s club. Sonny says Mike worked there as a bartender when he first came to Port Charles. Griff says it’s like when he went to Kelly’s. Sonny says ,but it was the same diner in the same spot. Aside from the address, the gallery has nothing to do with the club. Sonny asks if he’s that far gone, and Griff says the disease isn’t a steady or consistent process. Times of lucidity can be followed by disorientation, especially after emotional strain. Sonny wonders if hearing the diagnosis made everything worse. Sonny’s phone rings, and it’s Mike. He tells Sonny that he’s at the station.

Anna tells Andre that she hasn’t said anything; there’s no need. He says there is if she wants a healthy relationship. She says she and Finn have no relationship. Andre says the word was out that they were seeing each other. Anna says her plan was to use him to gain access to Cassandra. One thing led to another, and they pretended to be lovers, but Finn insisted  on staying when she wanted him to quit. He refused to listen to anything, and almost got killed twice. First, Cassandra drugged him, and the second time she knocked him out when Faison wanted her to shoot him. Andre says Cassandra is comatose, and Faison is dead. Andre isn’t saying it’s not complicated. She can find a million reasons for them not to be together, but can’t change her feelings. She says feelings aren’t the point. Finn deserves love, and also deserves the truth. In order for them to mean anything to each other, he has to know about her past, and the worst thing she ever did. It doesn’t matter anymore though. By the time she got to him, it was already too late.

Alexis says she and Finn have been in recovery about the same amount of time, and know it’s a bad idea for AA members to sleep with each other. She likes him and gets him; they’re both fighting the same demons. The last thing she wants is to compromise their sobriety. Finn says the back and forth with Anna taught him that he’s in no place to pursue a relationship, but he could use a friend. He’d be sorry if last night messed it up.

David sits next to Kiki, and shows her something that sounds like an algebraic formula. She says he makes it sound simple, and he tells her when you’ve been doing it as long as he has, it is. The food arrives, and he tells her to eat.

Elizabeth says Epiphany is the smartest person in the hospital. She knows there were medical reasons for Franco doing what he did. Epiphany says if she didn’t believe it, Milo would disappear him. Elizabeth says she doesn’t need protecting, and Epiphany asks if Jason knows that.

Franco tells Doc that he locked Drew in a toy chest and pushed him down the stairs. Doc says he’s putting adult judgment on a child’s actions. There could be number of reasons they need to explore. Franco says he’s marrying Elizabeth tomorrow, and asks if Doc can tell him that there’s no darkness inside, and he’ll never commit violence again. Doc says if he chooses to go forward without disclosure, he has to live with the consequences. Franco says he’s not doing this anymore. He’s not letting anything coming between him and the best thing that’s happened to him. He tells Doc not to blow it for him, and leaves. Doc’s phone rings. He says he did ask for the tests to be fast-tracked. He listens, and says, interesting. He wants a copy of everything.

Ava tells Griff that she’ll probably be on the phone half the night; he should go. Griff says he’s not going anywhere. She says okay, if he wants to listen to her wrangle with the claims adjuster. He says he’s not leaving until they talk about Valentine’s Day.

Sonny comes to the station, and is directed to Chase. Chase tells him that he picked up Mike wandering around the pier. Sonny goes into the interrogation room to see him. Mike is sorry for the trouble. He didn’t mean to break the lady’s sculpture. Sonny says it’s all taken care of. Mike says he wanted to go to Luke’s, but it wasn’t there. Sonny says it burned down, and Mike says he knew it; how could he forget? Sonny tells him it’s okay, but Mike says it’s not. You don’t forget things like that unless something is seriously wrong, and the doctor says he has Alzheimer’s. He starts to cry.

Mike says he screwed up this time; scaring the woman, and breaking things. Sonny says Ava has seen and done worse; one day at a time. He’s getting Mike out of there. He asks Chase what he has to do, but Chase says unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Mike was arrested for trespassing and vandalism. The reports aren’t even filed yet. He can’t let him go tonight.

Ava tells Griff there’s nothing to discuss. He asks why she’s pushing him away. He knows he should have called her about Kiki, but Ava says it’s not about Kiki; it’s about her. Since the surgery, she’s been afraid he’ll see her for who she really is, and find someone else who can be a saint like him. He says he sees and accepts her for who she is. She says he doesn’t understand. It’s new to her, being in love.

Anna tells Andre that it’s for the best not to say anything to Finn. The less people know, the better; most of all for her daughter. Andre says she opened a door that might be harder to close than she realizes. She says it’s mostly to protect her children. She can’t imagine how Robin would react. It would shatter Robin’s faith in her. The only gift she can give her other daughter is to not know who her father was. Andre respects her decision. Anna says, but he doesn’t agree, and he tells her it’s not his call. She asks if that’s as a shrink or as her friend? He needs to make arrangements for his room, and she offers him her place. He says maybe another time; he’s been looking forward to some privacy. I’ll bet.

David tells Kiki that life will be easier if she does what he says. She thanks him for dinner and the tutoring. He tells her organic chemistry is the weeding out course, and if she needs more help, just ask.

Elizabeth tells Epiphany that she hasn’t even had a chance to process that Jason is alive and home. She says the first time she saw him, he came out of nowhere and attacked Franco. Ever since then, she’s been trying to tell him Franco has changed, but he can only think about how Franco hurt Michael and Sam.

Dante, Jason, and Carly go to the phone booth. Carly wonders who would be calling her from out there. Um… someone up to no good? For a woman who’s so slick and trying to stay a step ahead all the time, she’s pretty dense.

Sonny tells Chase that he’ll call Dante, but Chase says it’s not going to change anything. Mike committed  a crime. Sonny says he was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Chase says, sorry; it must be hard for him. Sonny says he’ll compensate Ava, and it will all be over. Let him take his father home.

Ava tells Finn it’s the first time she’s ever been in a healthy relationship. It’s the first time she’s been in love with someone who’s actually good for her, and it scares her -a lot – so that’s it; he has it. She was going to tell him on Valentine’s Day that she loves him.

Alexis tells Finn that she enjoys their friendship, and never wants to lose it. She’s never going to sleep with him again. He agrees, and they pinky swear. He says now that his stomach has uncoiled, would she like to get something to eat? She says she always wants to eat. Anna sees them. Finn tells Alexis that his and Anna’s relationship was over before it started. She made an attempt to open up. She wanted to, but won’t, and he doesn’t know why.

Doc runs into Anna. He tells her that Faison’s diagnosis said that he had Huntington’s disease. It’s a genetic disorder that he could have passed on to his children.

Franco meets Elizabeth at the bar. He wanted to get a glimpse of her before midnight. Epiphany says that’s her cue to leave. Elizabeth thanks her, and gives her a hug. Epiphany hugs Franco, and tells him good luck, and if he hurts Elizabeth, he’ll have her to answer to.

Carly says the calls came at night. Why would someone call from out in the middle of nowhere? Dante says maybe it’s a prank. She says she heard an explosion. Dante says she can see it’s nothing. Carly starts wandering around, saying maybe they missed something. Dante tells Jason that Morgan was killed about a hundred yards from there, and he died in an explosion.

On Monday, Brad tells Julian he won’t be a part of his grandchild’s life, Ava asks Griff if he’s breaking up with her, and Josslyn asks Nelle if she’s getting back together with Michael.

🎢 How’s This for Digression?

Last week, I caught a marathon of Ash Vs the Evil Dead, which is returning to STARZ on Sunday, February 25th, 9 pm. You can also catch the second season there, earlier on Sunday. This is one of those shows I feel like I have no business watching. Ash is sexist and racist, and probably a bunch of other ists, but I still love him. I feel the same way about Two Broke Girls. It’s embarrassing, but they still make me laugh. Or at least snicker. Maybe I also feel a little bit guilty because I once mistook Garrett Morris for a homeless thief. For a couple of years, I worked in the Manufacturer’s Hanover bank in Rockefeller Center, and just about everyone who worked at NBC banked there, including the SNL cast. I didn’t normally work on the ground level, and was filling in for someone. Most of the news people and Dan Aykroyd (who was dating one of the tellers at the time) did their banking downstairs, and I had never met Garrett. He handed a counter deposit slip to me with only half of the account numbers filled in, saying he didn’t remember the rest. You need to know that this is a way thieves rip people off. They make a phony deposit using a counter slip, but say they don’t know their account number offhand. Shortly afterward, they try to cash a bogus check against the same account, saying they were just here and made a deposit. You’d be surprised with what grifters come up with. Anyway, it was very busy, and I had barely glanced up at the guy who looked like he hadn’t shaved in a few days, and was wearing a rumpled coat, and this was my first thought. Then I looked at the name. And looked at him again. Thank God I hadn’t said anything.

🚫 Right Now

I’m almost at the end of Get Out (on HBO rotation). Everybody is great, but IMO, Lil Rel Howery steals this film. His delivery is The. Best. I also love seeing some old character favorites like Stephen Root (News Radio) and Richard Herd (V). Nice to see it’s getting a lot of nods/awards. It’s confusing as to which category it belongs though, since it seems to have one all its own. Funny, creepy, and gory, wrapped in a message, the story is definitely unique.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Mike says it’s over the top, but Sonny says Mike almost got himself arrested yesterday. Mike claims he was feeling nostalgic, and they needed help at Kelly’s. He doesn’t need a doctor to tell him he’s just overtired. Sonny says since they’re at the hospital, they might as well have him checked out. If everything’s fine, he can say I told you so. Mike tells Sonny that breakfast is on him, and Sonny says, anywhere he wants. Mike says, maybe not Kelly’s.

Ava gets a call from Griff, but she doesn’t answer. Kiki tells her to turn the siren off. Ava asks if Kiki remembers getting picked up from the drunk tank. Kiki panics, and says no. Ava asks if she was in a blackout. Kiki says she thought it was more of a brownout, but doesn’t remember that. Ava says she doesn’t remember because it didn’t happen. A good Samaritan brought her home. She gives Kiki some food. Kiki says the last thing she remembers is talking to Spinelli, but then recalls Griff being there. She asks Ava if she ruined their night.

Griff leaves Ava a message, saying it’s his second time calling. He doesn’t like the way they left things, so call him back

Nelle messes with vocal stuff on the computer. She says, it’s just beginning, and Monica startles her, saying she didn’t mean to interrupt.

Jason tells Carly that he spent Valentine’s Day with Danny. He wanted another sleep over, and Jason just dropped him off at school.

Anna arrives to the will reading. A guy asks her if she wants anything, but she just wants it over with. She didn’t want anything to do with Faison when he was alive, and doesn’t want anything from him now that he’s dead. The guy says the other beneficiaries should be there soon. Sam and Drew come in.

At the hospital, David asks Mike what’s going on. Mike says there’s no problem; his son dragged him there. He’s been out of sorts, but doing a lot of traveling lately, and just needs some rest. David asks him to describe “out of sorts,” and Mike says he’s left some things here and there. Sonny tells him about Mike working at Kelly’s, and David asks Mike if it’s true, Mike says he was feeling nostalgic, but once his grandson explained it to the cop, it was fine. David tells him it might have something to do with rest, and Mike says his son is an alarmist. To be on the safe side, David wants to do bloodwork and tests to rule out anything serious. Mike tells Sonny that it’s ridiculous. Sonny says it will be over before he knows it. I’m so enjoying Max Gail as Mike.

Ava tells Kiki that she loves a good martini more than the next girl. She says last night was tough, but don’t get in the habit of drinking hurts away. Kiki says she’s retired from drinking for the foreseeable future. Ava asks about Dillon, and Kiki says they’re done. She knows it in her head, but she’s trying to get past it in her heart; it hurts. Ava tells her Dillon isn’t the right man for her. She deserves someone who puts her first. Kiki says that’s easy for to say; she has Griff. She has to get to work, and asks Ava for a ride. Ava thinks she should call in sick, but she has to stay in David’s good graces. Ava asks what if he notices she has a hangover, and Kiki says she’ll tell him it’s her allergies. Ava tells her to take a shower, and think up a better excuse.

Nelle tells Monica, sorry she’s jumpy. Nelle hugs her, says she’s happy to see her. Monica asks about an early lunch to catch up with baby news, but Ava isn’t in yet. Monica says it looked like she was doing something important. Nelle says don’t tell Ava, but she was looking online for baby stuff. She’s surprised how expensive everything is. Some strollers are as much as a used car. She’s right. Monica says that’s what baby showers are for; she’ll make out like a bandit. Nelle says she has no friends to throw a shower for her, and certainly Carly isn’t going to do it. Monica can’t believe Carly is that petty. She’ll want the baby to have the best of everything. Nelle says not if it includes her. Carly seems fixated on making her life miserable.

Carly asks Jason if things are getting better with Drew, and he says Drew is angry with him. It’s not about Danny, but Drew thinks he withheld information on Henrik, when he was just waiting for confirmation. Carly doesn’t think so. She thinks Drew is mad because his wife is in love with Jason. Sam may have married Drew with the best of intentions, but it was the worst possible thing for everyone else. The doorbell rings, and it’s Diane, who says she was in the neighborhood, and drops off Sonny’s paperwork. When she sees Jason, she says it’s serendipitous, since he’s been avoiding her phone calls. Jason says it has nothing to do with him, but Diane says it does. She’s been retained to handle Faison’s will in this country, and he’s been named as a beneficiary. She’s as surprised as anyone, but they need to be on their way to the reading. Jason says he doesn’t want anything from Faison.

Diane’s assistant introduces himself as Henry. Sam hopes this is better than Helena’s will reading. Helena cursed her and left her a third of a penny. Anna didn’t want anything he touched when he was alive, and certainly doesn’t now that he’s dead. Sam asks Henry how long it’s going to be. He says Diane should be there shortly, but they’re waiting for one more beneficiary.

Diane tells Jason that she can’t finalize the will until the Danish government knows she contacted all of the parties involved. They won’t know what’s in it until they read it. Jason says Faison took five years from him, and he killed him; it’s over with. Carly says it’s not. Whatever Faison set up to hurt him, ignoring it won’t make it go away. She steps into the hallway to take a call from Sonny. Diane tells Jason that she can’t believe she’s saying this, but Carly made an articulate and logical argument. Did any of it get through?

Carly asks Sonny what the doctor said. Sonny tells her that he ordered tests and a physical exam. Mike isn’t happy, and thinks he’s just overtired. Carly hopes that’s all it is, and Sonny gives her a raincheck for Valentine’s Day. She tells him to just keep her posted. She looks at unknown caller on her phone list.

Monica knows how difficult Carly can be, and tells Nelle, imagine living under the  same roof. She thinks Carly will ease up, especially after the baby is born. Nelle tells her that Kim already cautioned her against stress, and told her how it can affect the baby’s health. Monica asks if it’s work, but Nelle says Ava is more than accommodating. Monica can’t help unless Nelle tells her what it is. Nelle says she doesn’t mean to speak out of turn, but Carly keeps hurling horrible accusations against her. She’s trying to be the bigger person, but it’s hard when it’s affecting the baby’s health. Monica tells Nelle that she’s sorry, and hugs her. Nelle says there’s only so much she can take.

Ava brings Kiki the phone she left in the car. She tells Kiki don’t thank her, just get it together and stay hydrated. Griff comes out of the elevator as Ava is leaving, and he stops her. He says she’s been ignoring his phone calls, but she can’t ignore him in real life. Ava says he’d be surprised. He asks if they’re going to pretend nothing happened last night.

Sonny tells Mike it wasn’t so bad, but Mike says Sonny isn’t the one being poked and prodded like a lab rat. Sonny looks at his phone, saying, the wonders of the internet. The flowers were delivered to Rita. Mike wonders what flowers, and Sonny tells him the ones they ordered this morning.

Carly debates deleting unknown caller’s number, and finally does.

Monica doesn’t want Nelle to worry, and says the baby will be fine. Nelle says she knows she made terrible mistakes with Carly in the past, but she’s tried to make amends. Monica tells her not to beat herself up. Carly has made many mistakes. Nelle says you’d never know by how she acts. Monica tells her that Carly has been given the benefit of second chances, and she’s sorry Nelle wasn’t extended the same courtesy. Nelle says she’s okay with not being the best of friends, but wants to get to a place where they’re civil and can move forward for the baby’s sake. Monica thinks Carly loves the baby as much as they do, but tells Nelle to let her know if Carly bothers her again. Putting Carly in her place comes as second nature to her. Nelle thanks her, and Monica suggests lunch next week. Nelle agrees, and says Monica has helped her more than she’ll ever know.

Ava insists she’s not avoiding Griff. He says she’s running away. He’s glad Kiki is feeling better, but he’s worried about them. He admits he should have called her. Ava says, yes, he should have, but it’s over and everything is fine. Kiki is okay, and they’re moving on. He asks why she’s still pushing him away. She insists she’s not, but he says she’s pulling herself back then; she’s been keeping her distance since the surgery. She tells him that it’s complicated. He says whatever is going on, she needs to tell him. David comes out and says he needs to consult with Griff. Ava says she has to go.

Henry says Diane is on her way. There’s one more beneficiary who’s been notified, but he doesn’t know if they’re coming. Sam wonders if it’s Obrecht, but Anna thinks not. Diane comes in, followed by Jason. She knows it’s uncomfortable, but the sooner they dispense with the formalities, the sooner they can get on with their lives. The will starts of with Faison revoking any former wills, and declaring this to be his last will and testament.

Monica stops by Sonny’s, and asks if Carly has a minute. Monica says Carly has an elegant home. Carly is surprised Monica has never been there. Monica says she never had an inclination to set foot in it before Sonny murdered her son, and there was certainly none after. She wants what’s best for the family they do share, Michael’s baby and the baby’s mother. She says Carly has the right to dislike Nelle. Carly says she doesn’t know the half of it. Monica says Nelle is carrying Michael’s child, and her hostility could cause a problem with the baby. She tells Carly to back off of Nelle.

At the gallery, Ava says Nelle is chipper. Nelle doesn’t want to jinx it, but things are going well regarding their mutual enemy. She even managed to endear herself to Michael. Ava says Valentine’s Day treated her well. Nelle asks how Griff reacted when Ava told him she loved him, but Ava doesn’t want to talk about it.

David tells Sonny that he had a colleague look at the test results. Sonny doesn’t respond well to seeing Griff, but David says he’s the best neurosurgeon in the state. Griff says he can forward the results to Patrick in Berkeley, but Sonny says no, and asks what’s going on. Griff says Mike recounted some incidents to him, including the one at Kelly’s. He has to ask if Mike gave his own explanation, or was it Sonny’s? Did Mike have a clear idea of why he was there, or was he confused until Sonny gave an explanation? Sonny tells Griff that he said something to Mike, and Griff wants to administer a one-on-one test to determine if Mike has any cognitive impairments.

Diane reads that Faison wants to be buried in his native Denmark, he has no wife, and all his outstanding debts are to be paid. He leaves Britt a load of sandbags. Since she’s been a weight to him in life, he’s returning the favor in death. He leaves Drew what he wants more than anything – a way to restore his memories.

Sonny tells Mike they’ll be out of there soon. Mike says he hopes it’s going to be a good lunch, since they missed breakfast. Sonny introduces Griff, and Mike asks if he’s a hot potato now. Griff says he knows Mike has been confused lately, and he’d like to run another test. Mike says he’ll pass; he has no blood left. Griff says it’s not that kind of test. It’s a mental state exam. Mike asks if they think he’s crazy, and Griff says no; it’s to test his cognitive abilities. Mike says there’s nothing wrong with him that rest and vitamins won’t cure. He tries to leave, but Sonny says that he has to be honest. He’s been worried, and if they can rule out anything serious, he’ll have peace of mind. He’s asking as Mike’s son. Can he do this for him?

Kiki tells David welcome back. He says he heard congratulations are in order, since she got into med school. She says she couldn’t have done it without him, but he says she’s a hard worker, and deserves it. He asks how she’s feeling, and she says relieved, excited, and nervous. He says her boyfriend will have to get used to her working even more, and she tells him that they broke up.

Nelle says, so Ava’s daughter ruined her date, and Ava says Kiki got herself good and drunk. Griff came to the rescue after spending his night off at the hospital. His priority is taking care of other people. Nelle says it’s what drew Ava to him in the first place, and Ava says it’s a paradox. He has a professional obligation to be selfless, even when it makes him selfish. She wonders if their relationship will work if she doesn’t need saving. Nelle says Ava was the one telling her to work for what she wants; why not apply it to Griff? Ava says she’s never felt this way about anyone. She tells Nelle about the dream she had – more of a nightmare – where Griff and Avery were horrified at her and she was left alone. She wonders if it’s more of a prophecy, and a reminder that she won’t live up to his ideals.

Carly asks Monica what has she done exactly? Monica says she’s been gunning for Nelle for months. Carly says she’s just protecting her family. Monica asks if that includes her unborn grandchild. Kim already warned Nelle about stress, and Carly says Nelle couldn’t wait to share it. Monica knows Nelle is far from innocent, but tells Carly to be the bigger person for the baby’s sake. Carly says Nelle is carrying her grandchild, and she’ll handle it how she sees fit. She’s seen the house; now get out.

Diane reads that there’s a detailed account of Andre’s research, including how to reverse the process, locked in Faisons’s safe. It will be released when the parameters are met. To Jason, he leaves the alias and last known whereabouts of Henrik. That’s also locked in the safe, and the combination is only known to his executor in Denmark. It will be delivered to either party upon death of the other. I say, oh ho! out loud. That’s pretty slick.

Griff asks Mike various questions about what words mean, the date, and where they are. He has him repeat three words that Griff tells him, and then count backward by sevens. Geez, I’m not so sure I could do that, but Mike can. Griff asks him for the three words again, but Mike gets stuck.

Ava is afraid there’s truth in her nightmare. She thinks it would be better for her if Avery with her. Nelle says she will be. Ava asks if that’s because of what Nelle has planned for Carly. She says she can’t be involved in anything that makes it harder for her to be with her daughter, and Nelle says she’ll have complete deniability. It won’t be long before they get everything they want for themselves and their children, and Carly will be stuck with the bill.

Nasty Carly asks Monica if she needs to say it slower or louder. Monica says she heard fine. They might dislike each other intensely, but the share a connection in Michael, who wants them to put their differences aside for the baby’s sake. He’s going to remember who honors his wishes and who doesn’t. Carly tells Monica to stay in her lane. On her way out, Monica tells Carly that she’s throwing a shower for Nelle, and expects complete cooperation.

David tells Kiki sorry about Dillon. She says they grew apart; the distance thing ca be brutal. He asks if she’ll be okay, and she says if she stops talking about it. Davis apologizes, and tells her that she’s doing great. She says she’s been keeping herself busy. When she’s not at the hospital, the library is her second home. He says it’s good to see her sharp focus hasn’t waned, and she tells him that he’ll be seeing more of her around there.

Anna tells Diane that can’t be legal. Diane says it’s despicable, but legal. Sam says Faison is still playing mind games, and Anna adds that he maximized the destruction. Drew says he’s pitting them against each other. For either of them to get what they want, the other has to die.

On Monday, Faison leaves his estate to Henrik, Alexis and Ned are in a dead heat, and Griff tells Sonny that he’s correct to be concerned.

🐶  Thoughts on Westminster

I was watching the highlights of the Westminster Dog Show, and reminiscing about dog shows past, since I’ve attended a few times. I had to get up at the crack of freaking dawn and take a 5 am train to get there, so you know I must love dogs. Why they like to show the Pekingese first thing in the morning, I’ll never know. Mine are all divas who sleep until two in the afternoon. I wouldn’t wake them at that hour any more than I’d wake a hormonal teenager, who had been up all night crying over a break-up, that early. The best year was when a friend of mine (sadly, no longer with us) was visiting from Texas, and her husband got a hotel room for us in Manhattan, so we could wake at a reasonable hour. I don’t know what it cost, but it can’t have been cheap. Just to look at a hotel room in the city is two hundred bucks. It was a beautiful place, and the breakfast buffet was spectacular. If we hadn’t had to leave for the show, we’d still be there. But I digress.

The show has spread out from Madison Square Garden, which now only hosts the final battle, Best in Show. The individual breeds are shown in a two buildings at the piers. In some ways, this makes it a hassle. Not only going in between the buildings, but also if you’re there for the whole shebang, you have to trek across town. On the other hand, it’s more up close and personal. The attendance for Best in Show is large, but there’s no need to have so many seats for the individual breeds. Another bonus is that it’s not ten thousand degrees. Going behind-the-scenes at the Garden – where you’d find both the benching and grooming areas, as well as the shopping booths – was a nightmare. The crowd alone was enough to give anyone an anxiety attack, and the hardiest of us could have fainted from the heat. Expanding the territory has alleviated not all, but a great majority of that. While watching the dogs do their thing in the ring is fun, my favorite part was always to meet and greet backstage. Some handlers and owners can be unfriendly, but more often than not, I was able to have a congenial chat and pet a fuzzy head. If you should go, always, always ask first. Never just go up to one of the dogs and touch. I’d say that’s a good rule of thumb no matter what strange dog you’d like to pet. I have to admit, another highlight for me was when a Golden Retriever decided to poop in the ring. The handler was understandably mortified, but the dog, being a dog, couldn’t have cared less.

I didn’t watch the whole thing tonight, but did see a few breed candidates, and the final judging of Best in Show. Betty-Anne Stenmark chose the ultimate winner, and gave an enchanting speech about loving all dogs, but how this was a special night for the purebreds. The Bichon was the big winner, with the large size Schnauzer as back-up. I guess if the winner can’t fulfill their duties? A cutie named Flynn, the Bichon was like a cotton ball come to life, and deserving of a million kisses. I couldn’t help but smile watching him. It must have been hard to choose though. The Borzoi was like a gorgeous, thin, small horse. The Spaniel (I forget which kind) had the sweetest of faces, and when they told us that Bean was the grandson of Stump, I almost fell off my chair laughing. The Border Collie was a TV dog for sure, cocking his head to one side, bringing on the awws. The big distractions were renegade treats on the carpet, as well as a “robot” camera that nearly gave the big Schnauzer a doggie heart attack. The crowd was comparable to one at a sports event, and went wild for the Pug. Me too.

The best part of the whole thing is that, purebred or not, they are dogs. They don’t know why, but they’re making everyone happy, and they’re into it.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

At the cemetery, Lulu says she’s sorry abut Maxie’s loss. Maxie says she should be; she killed him. Lulu asks how she can say that. Maxie says Lulu wanted to be the next big thing; journalism’s next superstar. She asks if Lulu got her story, and what the going rate is for her husband’s life.

At The Floating Rib, Anna asks if Felicia and Mac need anything. Felicia tells her, a time machine. Yeah, we could all use one of those.

Kim goes to Charlie’s to get take-out. Julian tells her they have couple’s dinners available for Valentine’s Day, and gives her the menu to check out. She says it’s a little over the top for her son.

Finn and Alexis are leaving an AA meeting at the hospital. Finn asks Alexis if he agrees to buy coffee, will she get off his back about sharing? She says she will, if he’ll add telling her one significant detail.

Sam asks Drew why the staring contest with Franco. He wonders why he’s making Franco nervous. Franco suggests to Elizabeth that they leave, but she wants to wait for Maxie to get there. Mac wonders where Maxie is.

Lulu tells Maxie that she didn’t fire the gun. Maxie says she didn’t shoot Nathan, but she put him in a position to be shot. And for what? A stupid article? A pat on the back from her boss? Lulu says she understands Maxie’s heart is breaking and needs to lash out, but Maxie says, no; she needs her husband. She tells Lulu don’t dare cry, and Lulu says she loved Nathan too. Maxie says she used him to advance her career. She actually believed she’d become a prize-winning journalist after two weeks. Her ego knows no bounds. She exploited Nathan. She knew he wanted to get Faison away from his family, and Nathan agreed because she put the idea in his head, making him think it was the only way when it was just her way. Peter listens from behind some bushes, looking pained. Maxie says Lulu did it to get an interview, and she knows it’s true. Dante says they’re not doing this, and Maxie tells him she knows he told Lulu to leave it to the police. Lulu says Nathan was the police, but Maxie says, no. He was a husband and father-to-be who would do anything to protect his family, and she took advantage of that. Why not? She had nothing to lose. She risked nothing, and in turn took everything from Maxie.

Oscar and Josslyn enter Oscar’s apartment. He tells Josslyn she has to be fast; his mom will be home soon. She asks what if she hurts him, but he tells her to hurry.

Finn wants to go to Charlie’s, but Alexis says Julian is Charlie. Finn wonders when that happened, and says he has to get online more. He asks if she wants to go somewhere else, but she says, let’s just do it.

Franco ponders the rabbit’s foot. Drew asks how it’s going. Franco says it’s a funeral, and leaves the table.

Spinelli tells Anna that his deepest regret is not finding Faison sooner, and Anna agrees it would have played out differently. He asks if she’s still looking for Henrik, and she says, absolutely. He could be planning on picking up where his father left off. Spinelli says Henrik’s trail is as cold as Faison himself. Anna tells him that no one can stay lost forever.

Dante wants Lulu to leave, but she says she needs to make Maxie understand. Maxie says, of course that’s her response. No I’m sorry; no I was wrong, and made the biggest mistake of my life. It’s Maxie’s problem, and Lulu has to make her see she’s right and Maxie is wrong because Lulu is always right. The one thing that could bring her closure is Lulu admitting her part, but she’ll never get it. It’s not Lulu’s style or in the Spencer DNA. Lulu says she admits it when she’s wrong, and Maxie asks when was the last time she did that. Lulu asks if she wants an example, and Maxie says she does, but she doubts Lulu will be able to find one. When Maxie screwed up, she felt terrible and apologized over and over until Lulu forgave her, but she’ll never get that from Lulu. Her ability to feel regret or remorse doesn’t exist. She’s incapable of it, and also a murderer, but a morally superior one, so there’s that.

Lulu says she can’t mean it. She asks Maxie to talk, but Maxie says it’s not her job to make it better for Lulu. Nina tells Lulu to stop; she’s done enough. She tells Lulu to please go, and leads Maxie away. Dante takes Lulu in the opposite direction. Nina asks if Maxie is okay, and suggests they go to the reception. Maxie doesn’t want to leave him; she doesn’t know how to do this. She asks Nina to please tell her how. Nina doesn’t know, but they’ll figure it out together. They hug, and Valentin takes Nina’s hand.

Drew tells Franco that he thought the condolences went well. Franco says the whole thing is sad and awful. Drew asks if Franco is avoiding him.

Julian tells Kim that she’s not walking home alone. She says a free drink, take out, and delivery, and Julian says he aims to please. She says, or make someone jealous. She sees him staring at Alexis, and he says he’s just making sure the customers have what need. Kim hands him the bags to carry. At first, he acts like the bags heavy, giving me hope that one of the actors gets it, but then, not so much. (sigh) Finn asks Alexis about getting something to eat, but she says she’s not hungry.

Peter stands by Nathan’s grave with tears in his eyes. He says it’s strange to say goodbye when they weren’t formally introduced; not as brothers at least. He wishes he’d known Nathan. He seemed like a good man; loving, kind, heroic – all the things their father wasn’t. He says it’s so clear how much Maxie loves him. He’s tempted to say he was a lucky man. He’s truly sorry that his luck ran out.

At The Floating Rib, Anna tells Maxie it was an honorable send off for an honorable man. Maxie looks at the pictures, and says she knows how much Nathan loved her. Sam tells her that she was great today. Nathan would be proud. Maxie excuses herself, and tells Nina that she can’t be there. Everyone is so sad and sorry. Nina tells her to take care of herself. Felicia wants to take her home, but she wants to be alone. After she leaves, Spinelli tells them that what Maxie says she wants and what she needs are often different things. Mac tells him to take care of their girl, and he follows Maxie.

Franco thought Drew would prefer he keep his distance, and Drew says he does. He asks how long Franco has known Jim. Franco says as long as Drew has, since they were little kids. Drew asks if Franco recognized him, but Franco says it was the other way around. Jim showed up at his studio. Drew wonders why he wouldn’t have said something about meeting someone from their past. Franco says there is no “our past,” just the past. The were toddlers, and don’t remember. Drew asks to see the rabbit’s foot.

Valentin sees Anna in the hallway. She asks how Nina is doing, and he says as would be expected. He wants to help, but can’t. Anna says he’s helping more than he knows. She tells him that she’s still processing their conversation. He wonders if there’s anything he can do or any questions he can answer. She asks why keep quiet? He hated her for so long, and all this time, had ammunition at his disposal. If anyone found out she had Faison’s child, it would kill her career and damage her personal life. He had the means to take her down, and didn’t. What stopped him? He says there’s a thin line between love and hate. He loved her, hated her, and everything in between, but could never bring himself to destroy her.

Josslyn is in front of Oscar, who’s sitting on a stool. She’s doing something, but we don’t see what. Kim comes into the apartment with Julian, and Oscar and Josslyn scramble around; Oscar running into the kitchen. Josslyn asks why Julian is there, and he says, love you too. Oscar messes around in the kitchen, and Kim asks what he’s doing. He says grabbing some food, and she tells him to say hello to their guest. He walks over, and we see he has a black eye. I laugh because I thought Josslyn was waxing his eyebrows or something.

Alexis says there seems to have been an uptake in Finn’s attendance at AA meetings, and asks if it’s because of Anna. Finn says he has a tendency not to know what has until it’s gone. Dante and Lulu come in. Lulu tells Dante it won’t shut off. It’s not just the words, but the way Maxie said them. Maxie hates her. So do I. Her point?

Maxie hesitates before going into the apartment. She finally does, and sits on the couch without taking off her coat. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Spinelli, and she asks what he’s doing there. He says her mother was right; she shouldn’t be alone. She says, but she is.

Elizabeth asks Franco if everything is okay, and he tells her Drew was just asking to see the rabbit’s foot. Elizabeth asks why, and Drew thinks he recognizes it. Franco hands it to him. Sam says, anything? Drew says, no, but he appreciates it.

Anna thanks Valentin. Felicia sees them in the hall, but goes back inside. Anna is grateful he kept quiet. She asks if he knows where her daughter is, and if he kept track of her, but he says he only knew what the midwife told him. It was a private adoption; no birth certificate, and no records exist. She went to a good family, and has a good life where Faison doesn’t exist. If Anna found her, she would have to tell her the truth. She says, Robin too; it would turn her life upside down for a multitude of reasons. Valentin says she knows what she has to do.

Oscar tells Kim that he got in a fight. Kim says, that’s clear, but with who? He asks if she remembers the friend he told her about that identifies as a girl, and says he stood up for her. She says next time, tell a teacher, and don’t provoke the bully. He says there wasn’t any time. Josslyn says if he hadn’t stepped in, their friend would have been seriously hurt. Kim says she cares about her son, not their friend.

Finn tells Alexis that he keeps making the same mistake over and over. She asks who left who, and he says this time, it was all Anna. It’s like she opens a door with one hand, and slams it shut with the other.

Dante tells Lulu that he was with Nathan every day. Nathan wanted Faison caught. Lulu admits she pushed him about the interview until he gave in. She should have stayed out of it. Dante takes her hand.

Spinelli gives Maxie some tea. She asks if he thinks it’s strange that she didn’t want Georgie at the funeral. He says on the contrary. She was looking out for their daughter, who is too little to understand what transpired. She also would have missed her school outing. Maxie brightens a little, and says, her first field trip. Spinelli tells her that Georgie went to the Portland zoo, but she doesn’t have to only imagine it. She asks if he has a video, but he was referring to her coming home with him. Their guest room goes unused, and Georgie would be ecstatic to spend more time with her. She tells him that going to Portland won’t make her forget that her husband is dead.

Peter looks for Maxie, and Sam tells him it was too much for her. He says it’s understandable. Drew and Sam hope he’s had a chance to regroup, and rethink leaving. They’re not shutting any doors.

Valentin tells Anna that she made a bold choice. Does she continue going forward with the consequences, or pass it on to her children? He gives her some advice that he ultimately borrowed from her. Let the past be the past. They’ve all made mistakes. The difference between him and her is that she wants to be better; so be better. She wonders if it will be enough, and he says it will have to be. He leaves to be with Nina.

As the kids are leaving, Julian tosses Oscar the bag of frozen peas. Josslyn says she’ll tell her stepdad that he said hello. Kim asks if Sonny is a friend of his, and he says, not exactly.

Finn asks Alexis, where is he supposed to go with this?

Maxie tells Spinelli she can’t jet off to Portland and forget Nathan. She forgot before, when she could have been at home instead of wasting precious time. She’s not wasting more by running away. Not feeling the loss, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Spinelli says he wasn’t suggesting that. She knows he was just trying to help, but don’t. She tells him don’t show up either. He doesn’t understand what happens when she hears a knock or footsteps or the elevator door. Every moment of every day is a reminder that Nathan is gone. All the brief, blissful moments of hope are the hardest to get over. She needs to be there until she does. She doesn’t need reminders. It’s horrifyingly real, and he can’t help her with that. She tells him to leave. He kisses her forehead and goes.

Peter tells Nina how sorry he is. She introduces him to Valentin. Valentin says it’s kind of him to come, and he says they’re all family at Aurora. Nina leaves them to help Felicia. Valentin says he hopes Peter has reconsidered leaving town. Some people might get suspicious. Peter thinks Valentin is overestimating his importance, but Valentin says Drew is going to follow every lead. Peter says there were complications, and Valentin says it was a shame about Nathan being collateral damage. He tells Peter to trust him, since he’s always looked out for him in the past.

Lulu tells Dante she has to quit her job. He says she loves it, but she says she loves Maxie more, and needs to make this right.

Alexis tells Finn she’s a master of mixed signals, both giving and getting them. She says that people can hold mixed truths in their hearts. If Anna is finding it that hard to keep away, she’s not ready.

Kim tells Julian that Oscar is her everything. He’s all she has. Julian says that’s not entirely true. She says she has her work, and it’s meaningful, but he says she also has friends.

Elizabeth asks where the rabbit’s foot came from, and Franco tells her it was in a box with his stuff from New York. It’s been with him ever since. She says it’s done it’s job. They’re happy, in love, and about to get married. Who’s luckier than them?

Sam tells Drew to remember the last time he got that familiar feeling. It was about Kim, and she ended up being a big part of his life. The rabbit’s foot could be a missing piece of the puzzle.

Felicia says she saw Anna talking to Valentin, and asks if she should be worried. Anna says it’s taken decades, and they have no more wars to fight.

Nina places a ticket stub from the Natural History Museum on Nathan’s grave. She talks to Valentin about taking Nathan there, and thanks him for bringing her. She needed one more chance to say goodbye. He tells her that he’s been in a lot of dangerous situations, but he never met someone as brave as she’s been today. She says she doesn’t feel brave. He tells her that she doesn’t have to, and holds her.

Maxie put on Nathan’s jacket and smells it. She talks to the baby, saying she’s so sorry. Sorry the baby won’t get to meet the dad who would have loved them; he already did. She’s sorry she lost it earlier, and hopes she didn’t scare the baby by freaking out about the future. She swears its mom isn’t psycho, just sad and angry. She’ll pull it together. It’s what the baby’s dad would have wanted. He’d want her to sing songs and make the baby laugh, like he was looking forward to doing. She’ll do it for both of them. It’s not the same, and they’ll always miss him, but she thinks if they’re brave and lean on each other, they’ll get through it and be okay.

Tomorrow, Robin thanks Jason for killing Faison, Michael says he’s selling the building, and Sonny tells Mike he’s not going anywhere.

Vanderpump Rules

Stassi and Katie go shopping at Dapper Cadaver. Stassi is having a death/murder-themed birthday party, and I guess this is the place to go. She’s celebrating the death of her 20s. When she dies, she wants to be taxidermized with a glass of wine in her hand and let people take photos with her. I actually think this is a cool idea. She has a list of the various items she wants to get, and goes over the guest list with Katie. In her interview, she tells us that Patrick blocked her when he went to Amsterdam. She tried sexting him, he turned her down, and she got angry, telling him she was going to find someone else. He’s finally unblocked her, so she’s hoping he comes to the party. She thinks she and Ariana having the same birthday is like Bride Wars.

Billie, Scheana, Lala, and Ariana go outfit shopping. Ariana is having a kings and queens party, because she’s a queen. I could make a lot of jokes here, but I’ll leave it. The girls look through the fabulous dresses, lingerie, and accessories. Billie tells Ariana that her 30s is her prime, but Ariana says she’s not having sex. In her interview, she says she’s not a fan of her nether regions. Really. She said that.

Tom and Schwartz go to the restaurant site. Today is the day to find out if the permits are approved. Without them, they can’t start the construction. Tom says they’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, and we flash back to those. Lisa and Ken arrive. Lisa says Tom smells like alcohol. He tells her the triplets are on their way home, but last night they went to a strip club and made it rain. Lisa wonders if Schwartz’s wife knows he went to a strip club. She tells them the permits have been approved, and they start Monday. Tom counts it among one of the best days of his life. He writes a check, but tells Lisa not to cash it until the end of the month. Schwartz is having PTSD from writing the check for the wedding. That’s why they catch you at the end for that. You’re a little drunk, so it doesn’t hurt as much. He didn’t say that last part. It’s my personal observation.

Ariana visits therapist Julia. She says it’s long overdue. She wants to do more to help herself and get her head right. She tells Julia about her self-criticism, and how it’s amplified over the years. Her ex-boyfriend added to the problem. She says in the beginning, she thought it was a fling, but he wanted her to stay, and after she moved in, held it over her head because she had no money. Julia asks about her support system, and she says Tom is a true partner. Julia wonders about marriage and family, and Ariana says she never wants to give birth. Her goal is to just be able to function without so much anxiety. In her interview, she wants to communicate her feelings to Tom, but doesn’t want him to think it’s him. She tells Julia she’s frozen. Well, let it go then. BA-DUM-CHH!

James, Lala, Brittany, and Schwartz go to Villa Rosa to discuss World Dog Day. Lisa wanted a festival that was diametrically opposed to the Yulan dog meat festival. In his interview, James says it’s not the most extravagant or exciting gig he’s had, but on the road to success, you have to pay your dues. Lisa suggests Schwartz make out with the guests for a fifty-cent donation. Brittany asks if Lisa is coming to either of the parties, but she doesn’t have the time. Giggy! Schwartz tells her that she wouldn’t have to dress up for Ariana’s party, since she’s already a queen. Once again, I have to squelch my jokes.

Lisa asks Brittany to stay behind. She wants to talk about Jax. Lisa says it’s been challenging to say the least, and she doesn’t want him there tomorrow. She tells Brittany that she doesn’t want him anywhere near her.

Tom makes breakfast and serves it to Ariana. He asks how therapy was. She says she’s a work in progress, but she’s glad he stuck around. He says he doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with her, but when they first started dating, they had sex all the time. In his interview, he says he understands the excitement dies down, but thinks she’s afraid to tell him. He tells her that he knows the newness wears off, but she says the only thing that wears off is confidence; there’s no pretending. He thinks she felt it more back then, but she begs to differ, telling him she was just saying it to impress him. In her interview, she says she knows it must be confusing for him. Ariana isn’t thrilled that they haven’t been spending much time together. Tom says he got a high off of helping Tom’s brothers and we see clips. He gets that some things turn her off, but she says there’s no closeness if they don’t do things together. In her interview, she says when he does other things, it makes her think he doesn’t want her. He tells her that he can’t read her mind.

Katie does Stassi’s makeup. She says she wants to be a hot dead girl, and is going for shot-in-the-head chic. Kristen says they’re like sluts in a morgue. Katie tells them about Kevin Lee bringing her flowers, and we see a clip. He tells her that he’s sorry, and she tells him that he should never make comments about weight to anybody. Ever. She tells the girls it was awkward. His apology doesn’t affect her, but she feels badly for him.

Tom loves dressing up and going over the top. Jax stops by while Tom is trying on costumes. He tells Tom that he and Brittany decided on prom king and queen. He’s wearing a prom style tux, and stopping by Burger King for a crown on the way there. Tom puts in creepy white contacts. Brittany calls, and lets Jax know about Lisa not wanting him at World Dog Day. He doesn’t know why Lisa is holding a grudge when others have done worse. I hate that. I hate when people won’t take responsibility, and try to deflect by pointing at someone else. He tells her just go without him. She says he’ll miss the beauty pageant, and Tom adds there are a lot of hot bitches there.

It’s party time! We visit Ariana’s party first. Tom, wearing a Maleficent costume, introduces Queen Ariana, who is dressed in gold with a huge spiky crown. James says everyone is killing it with the costume game tonight. I would agree, but Scheana and Lala are basically dressed in lingerie and wearing crowns. I’m not sure if that qualifies as a costume. Lala says she’s never missing one of Ariana’s birthdays again. Billie tells Tom that she’s heard amazing things about his drag, and we flash back to that.

Schwartz says Stassi put her name on the party – it’s macabre. He thinks the scariest thing is the ranch dressing fountain, and has no doubt people will put their fingers in it by the end of the night. Peter brings a bottle of Dom Perignon from Lisa and Ken. Stassi is thrilled, since a year or so ago, she would have gotten a bag of Giggy’s flaming dog poopy. Patrick comes in wearing a man bun, which is scarier than everything else combined. Stassi’s mother asks how the trip was, and Patrick says he had a great time. Stassi feels like she’s walking on eggshells, trying to make things work. Her best solution is to drink. She orders Jager bombs all around. Bleh. I think that’s even worse than the fountain. It tastes like cough medicine.

Jax tells Billie that he’s not going to Stassi’s party. He doesn’t want to be around the anxiety; he’s trying to surround himself with better people. Ariana tells Tom that experiencing things together is a huge thing for her, and he apologizes. He says he needs her; she’s his foundation. Well, that beats saying she completes him. It kills him that she’s doubting herself and being self-conscious. He tells her that she’s his number one, and she says ditto. She says if she doesn’t feel the closeness, it’s hard to get busy. They kiss. She says he’s not perfect, and she’s a work in progress (all right already), and she wants to be close to him. He suggests they make magic happen, and she asks if she can keep her crown on.

Katie tells Patrick that he and Stassi need to stop breaking up and making up. He says he doesn’t care if she has sex with other people, but he doesn’t want her to have emotional commitment with anyone else. Kristen says Stassi has always been the conductor in relationships, but with Patrick, she’s second fiddle.

Ariana’s brother, Jeremy, is wearing a little crown that reminds me of Blaine and Antoine (Men on Film) on In Living Color. He takes the mic, and wishes Ariana a happy birthday. The cake comes out, and Ariana tells everyone how glad she is they came. She breaks up a plastic crown, and tosses the pieces out like in Mean Girls. She says she’s not a queen amongst peasants; they’re all royalty.

Katie has brought in Arielle the stripper from her party in in Las Vegas, and wants Stassi to take a shot off of her body. Stassi says she wanted her as a guest, not a serving tray, and declines. She’s nervous about Patrick being there, because they’ve been fighting, and she’s effed-up on Adderall and tequila. She walks outside. Kristen and Katie follow. She tells them she hasn’t been able to talk to Patrick the entire night, and she’s annoyed by how everything turned out. They try to talk her into coming back in, but she tells them to go eff themselves; she’s leaving. Kristen says back in the day, she would have gone after Stassi, but she’s an adult. Get a grip and grow up.

It’s World Dog Day. This year, they’ve taken over the street where the rescue center is. Cute dogs everywhere! Brittany’s Monroe wins the beauty pageant, and title of VP Posh Pup. Brittany hopes it doesn’t go to Monroe’s head, since she can’t deal with two big-headed divas at home, the other one being Jax. Scheana asks Peter about Stassi freaking out at her party. He tells Ariana that Stassi was ticked off about the body shot. Ariana says this is why they’re not friends.

Brittany tells Lisa that Jax will have to do a lot of work before she ever makes him another sandwich. Brittany asks if Jax has texted, but Lisa says no. She tells Brittany his apology doesn’t cut it now. He was in enough trouble at the Beverly Hills Life party, but by not reaching out, he’s dug a deeper hole. Lisa says she supports them, and expects the same in return.  Stassi texts an apology to Katie. Katie says the meltdown was Stassi circa 2012, and immature bullsh*t. They also had to pick up a $1400 tab. Schwartz is surprised, thinking it had just been a mini meltdown.

This season, horses, dancing, the Toms are late for a meeting, Stassi thought it would be different with Patrick this time, drinking, more drinking, Tom doesn’t want to be around Katie, Brittany kicks Jax out, and Jax gets fired… maybe.

🍑 On The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha had a vegan dinner for the ladies, and Cynthia invited them all on a trip to Barcelona. Kenya seems somewhat separated from the pack this time around, probably due to being a newlywed and having an ongoing feud with Kim. I’m lukewarm about this season, but this episode did give me what could possibly be the best quote of the millennium:

💥 What kind of fraggle knackle bullcrap is this?Sheree Whitfield

🔪 I’m already loving Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block. In this latest effort, the plot revolves around an odd town with a strange history, where people keep disappearing. Sisters Zoe (Holland Rogan) and Alice (Olivia Riccardi) are making a fresh start there. Alice is a budding social worker, and Zoe is being treated for the “insidious onset” of schizophrenia, as well as battling a drug addiction. Landlady Louise (Krisha Fairchild) made it clear from the start that she wasn’t their mom, not even their cool aunt, but their landlady, yet she shared a joint and a story with Zoe not long after the girls arrived. Louise was also a reporter back in the day, and is working on a book about the town and the disappearances, her brother having been one of them. I adore her already, and hope she doesn’t meet an untimely end.

During Alice’s first day on the job, a child disappears while waiting to be picked up by CPS, vanishing inside her own home. Alice’s supervisor chalked it up to the mother running with the child, but Alice wasn’t so sure. That night, she followed a small, shadowy figure to an old park, thinking it was the little girl. At the entrance, she found Rutger Hauer instead, who was creepy, yet somehow grandfatherly. Out for his nightly walk, he told her his family once owned the park and he lives close by. Further into the woods, Alice discovered the figure, sitting at the bottom of a staircase that went nowhere, and what she had thought to be a little girl, was a little person, with a weird, unnerving baby’s face. It went after her with a mallet, but she was saved by a tall creature – what it would look like if Groot and the Visible Man had a baby – who took the whatever-it-was up the stairs. Later, Alice saw Louise’s research board for her book, which included a photo of the Peach family, who owned a lot of the town way back when. The focal point of the town is a huge brick building labeled Peach’s Meats with a logo of Joseph Peach’s face. He’s the family patriarch, and oddly enough, looks just like Rutger Hauer.

Zoe realized that Alice had concerns about following in her mental footsteps. Feeling smothered and weirded out – there’s also a nutcake lady running around town looking for scissors, which Louise has informed them not to give her – Zoe decides to book. While at the bus stop, she meets Joseph. Being musically inclined, I’m super aware of soundtracks (Vanderpump Rules always has a great one), and I almost fell off the couch when I heard Timothy by The Buoys in the background while Louise was working. For you youngsters, it was a hit in the 70s, written by Rupert Holmes, and is about some miners who eat one of their own when they become trapped. How this became a hit, who knows? but I do have it on a 45 somewhere. This clinched the deal for me with Louise. She also gave me the second-best quote:

🌏  When you set out to change the world, the world changes you.

Creepy babies, creepy Groots, staircases to nowhere, a strange landlady (her hobby is taxidermy) who smokes weed, a mysterious town, and Rutger Hauer. Seriously, what more could you want?

February 9, 2018 – Nathan’s Funeral, Septuplicate Quotes & Some Danny

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

We see the officers in their dress blues. Jordan says it’s the end of watch call for Detective Nathan West. He’s answered his final call. He was shot by a notorious felon in the course of protecting a civilian, his wife. She tells us about everyone he’s left behind, including a grateful community. They thank him for his loyalty, dedication, his service, and most of all, his brotherhood. They’re proud of him, and his sacrifice will not be forgotten. This is his 1042. His watch concluded, he’s gone home for the final time.

As she speaks, we see everyone getting ready for the funeral.

Robin meets with Anna. She feels like she was just there, and reminisces about when Georgie died. All she could tell Maxie was that she had to keep going because it’s what Georgie would want. How many times can you tell someone to keep going before they stop hearing it? Griff joins them. He’s still reeling from the whole thing. Anna says they all are. They lost a great man and a great friend.

Mac and Felicia pick up Maxie. She says she’s okay. They don’t have to keep holding her up. Felicia says Frisco couldn’t get away, but Maxie says Nathan would be the first to understand.

Valentin and Nina receive people at the church. Amy signs the guestbook. Lulu thanks Curtis for taking her to the hospital that night. He was glad he could do something. She asks him to sit with her, since Dante and Jordan will be with the other officers. He says they can help each other.

Valentin asks if Nina wants a break, but she says it’s the only tribute she can give her brother. She wants to do it right.

Obrecht remembers talking to Maxie about Nathan breaking his arm as a child, and says she’s never been there for her son. Franco hugs her.

Maxie thanks Sam for helping, and Sam says she’ll be there for anything Maxie wants; she loves her. Felicia tells Maxie that she has a lot of friends and people who love her. Maxie says she’s really lucky, but it’s not in her voice. Maxie tells Spinelli he doesn’t have to stay and wait for her. He says before he departs, he has something from Georgie. He hugs her, and says Georgie said to tell her that she loves her mommy. Maxie says she’ll be right down. She looks at the sonogram picture with Nathan’s blood on it. There’s a knock at the door.

She flashes back to the first time she met Nathan. She asks him to please come back to her, but there’s no one at the door. She slides to the floor wondering how she does this. How does she go on without him? She feels someone take her hand. It’s OG Georgie, who says, any way she can. I know it sounds heartless, but I have to mention the fabulous black dress Maxie is wearing. It has bell sleeves with lace-up ties on them, and and exposed back zipper. I love a lace-up tie and a little hardware.

Obrecht thanks Franco for coming. He says of all the people to arrest him, Nathan was the most gentle. She says he had a light touch. She wishes Franco didn’t have to see her like this, and he wishes she didn’t have to feel like this. Nina digs for a lighter in her purse. Anna asks if she smokes, and she says she quit years ago, but started again. She gives Anna her cigarettes, telling her to get rid of them. She doesn’t want Charlotte to see.

Peter and Valentin exchange glances. Peter looks at the funeral program, and remembers trying to help Nathan. Lulu says he made it, and tells him the family will appreciate it. He asks about Maxie, but she hasn’t wanted to see anyone.

Maxie tells Georgie she was always meant to lose Nathan; he was way too good for her. She tried not to get too close, telling herself it would end badly like always. He wouldn’t listen to her, and now she’s here and he’s gone. Georgie says he’s not gone, and Maxie doesn’t want clichés about him being in her heart. Georgie says he’s in the baby. Maxie tells her that she wishes she’d never met him, and just wants the pain to stop. Georgie tells her all the things they wouldn’t have known without each other. Maxie says he would have been a good dad, and would have loved her. Georgie says she would have loved him too. She tells Maxie that she never needed anyone to save her; she already had it inside. Nathan knew that, and it’s time to show him that he was right. Georgie disappears. Maxie gathers up her things, and leaves.

The flag-draped casket is brought into the church, followed by Maxie, her parents, Obrecht, and Nina. Maxie, Felicia, and Mac look at Nathan in the half-open casket. Mac salutes. I check to see if I can catch Nathan breathing.

Nina talks about them going to the Natural History Museum when Nathan was a kid. She tells everyone how he gave his money to homeless people and street musicians. Each person pays their respects, although it usually doesn’t work that way. They seem to have combined the wake with the funeral. Obrecht kisses Nathan’s forehead, while Nina talks about how giving Nathan was, and how in the end, he gave his life. His generosity was only a sliver of who he was, and he touched many people’s lives. She says she’s given her story, and would like everyone to give theirs to her. She says Nathan was a man of action, not words, and asks that they give to those in need and keep his soul alive in them. She puts some coins in Nathan’s breast pocket. Damn. She looks fabulous too. In black velvety suit, with a peplum top and a pencil skirt with a back slit. Sorry, but you know I always get distracted by the fashions.

The officers do the gun salute. The flag is folded, as we hear Dante’s voice reciting a poem about a policeman before he enters heaven. It ends, Come walk a beat on heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in hell. Dante presents the flag to Maxie. She hugs it to her chest, while tears roll down her cheeks.

A snare drum is played, and the bagpipes follow with Amazing Grace. Each person places a white rose on Nathan’s casket, and they hug Maxie. Anna approaches Obrecht. They look at each other a moment. There’s a lot of that. People just looking at each other.

Maxie cries by the casket. She doesn’t know what to say; she’s not thinking straight. She tells Nathan that she loves him and always will. He saw the best in her, and made her demand more of herself, even when it hurt. He made her want to be better. She can’t promise she’ll succeed without him there to keep her honest, but promises she’ll try. She needs to let him go now. She takes out the sono picture and places it among the roses, saying, not without this.

Maxie lingers by the grave at the cemetery. Geez, they buried him already. She says they’ll miss him so much. She tells Georgie to take care of him. She feels Nathan’s touch, and he’s standing behind her, his hands on her shoulders.

Everyone gathers at The Floating Rib. Spinelli says Nathan was as good a human being as he’s ever known. Words fail him, but as a parent, you learn to communicate in different ways. Sometimes when he can’t find the words to speak, he finds them in song. He sings O Danny Boy, and I’m very impressed. He starts to choke up, and can’t get through it, so Amy joins him. They finish it as a duet.

Maxie finds herself alone at the cemetery. She looks around, and sees Nathan and Georgie together. He mouths, I love you, and takes Georgie’s hand. They walk away.

Lulu tells Maxie she’s so sorry. Maxie says she should be. She killed him.

Distractions aside, that was rough. I’m glad it ended on that note, or I’d be bawling into my coffee right about now.

On Monday, Drew asks if Franco is avoiding him, Spinelli tells Anna that Henrik’s trail is as cold as Faison, and Maxie tells Lulu that she took everything from her.
