What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

At The Savoy, Robert puts a bouquet on one of the tables and asks N’neka what she thinks. She says, elegant, but not fussy, and he says, that’s exactly what he wanted. There’s already been one celebration here tonight. This’ll be just one more. About that other thing he wanted… She says, that’ll be ready to go in about fifteen minutes, and he says, perfect. He slips her some cash, and she says, wow. The woman of his dreams must be pretty special. He says, she is. Very special… indeed. Diane walks in followed by Sonny and Alexis.

On the phone, Finn tells Violet that he won’t be home to tuck her in tonight… Because he’s at work… Working… Okay, he’ll do his best. Be good for the babysitter… He loves her too. He loves her so much. Elizabeth asks if Violet is okay, and he says, she told him to save a lot of lives. Depending on how this trial goes, he may not be able to save lives anymore.

Jordan opens the door to Brick and thanks him for coming. He says he had to, to mark this unprecedented occasion.

Kristina tells Molly, counting 40 days from the day of conception, her niece – or nephew – is going to be a Libra, which means they’re going to be intelligent and curious, just like Molly and TJ. There’s a knock at the door, and Molly opens it to TJ. He says, she called at a good time. His last two patients rescheduled. What’s going on? Is Kristina okay? Molly says, Kristina’s pregnant, and he says, it worked? Molly says, it worked. They’re going to be parents. He hugs her.

Walking into the station, Chase asks if Dante is sure there are only 24 hours in the day, because he’s pretty sure that defense attorney had them on the stand longer than that. (I feel his pain. Not about being on the stand, but a day that must be more than 24 hours.) Dante says he’s never been cross-examined to that degree, and Chase says, it would have been faster if they’d reenacted the entire crime and investigation for the jury. (Ha-ha!) Dante says, but then the defense attorney couldn’t have asked him the same question like, 29 times. Chase says he’d almost rather Diane Miller cross-examine him… Dante gives him a look, and Chase tells him that he said, almost. Dante says he has to bring in Esme Prince and ask her for a statement, when Laura comes in and says, they’ll have to do more than that if they’re going to keep Port Charles safe.

Laura says, Heather Webber told her that she wants Esme to go to prison, and Dante says, wow. He never thought he’d agree with Heather Webber on anything. Laura says, she wants her daughter close to her so she can look after her, and Dante says, she’s not going to be looking after her if she’s in prison. The state will. Laura says, according to Heather, Esme came to visit her as soon as Ace was taken. Heather tried to convince her to run away before they could reinstate the charges against her, and Esme said, no. She said it was because of Ace, but Heather thinks it’s because she wants revenge. Chase says, it takes a psycho to know a psycho, and Dante says, so Spencer was right. Esme remembers everything. Laura says, Heather confirmed it, but Chase says, she’s not the most reliable though. Heather Webber has zero credibility. She has to be working an angle. Laura says, agreed. She’s not to be trusted, but she thinks, in Heather’s own crazy way, she seems to genuinely care about her daughter. She seems determined to save her. Chase says, great. Esme almost hurt a lot of people, and that was before she wanted payback. Laura says, now she’s desperate and she has nothing to lose. They’ve got to arrest her before she does something terrible. (Um… The mayor has no concept of the law?) Dante says, he’s sorry, but they can’t do that.

Brick says, the Deputy Mayor was the last person he expected to call asking him for information, but Jordan says she reached out as a private citizen. He says, a private citizen who used to be the Police Commissioner, and she says, let it go, for the purposes of this conversation at least. He says, okay. So why is he here? She says she’s been working on a project – off the books – and asks him to have a seat. She tells him that she was looking for someone with detective prowess who could also keep a secret. She thought he’d be the perfect man for the job. He says, perfect man… prowess… So much flattery packed into a couple of sentences. Not that he minds. She asks if they can talk about this, and he says, okay. He wonders why she thinks she can’t talk to the PCPD about this project, but she says she can’t involve the PCPD. It could put them in a bad spot. He says, but she doesn’t mind dragging him into this? and she says, he is the bad spot. He laughs and says he appreciates her directness, but maybe they should lean towards the flattery again. She says, he’s a known associate of Sonny Corinthos. She’s aware of his skillset and knows he can be discreet. He says, she seems to know a lot about him, and she says, they have a file. He says he appreciates her going through the trouble. What’s in the file? She says, that’s classified, and he says, the good stuff usually is. So what’s the mission, should he choose to accept it?

Robert says he sees Diane brought back-up, and she says, Sonny and Alexis? She ran into them outside. But considering how their last date went, back-up might have been a good idea. He says he’s hoping they can put all that behind them tonight, and she says she hopes so too. He says, she looks especially beautiful this evening, and she says, he’s off to a rousing start. She sees the flowers, along with a bottle of champagne and glasses, and says, this is lovely. He says he wanted to show her just how much she means to him, and she listens to the music for a moment. She says she loves this song. Was that his doing too? He says, it was. Would she care to dance? She says, no, and he says, no? He thought all women loved guys who danced. She says, that certainly depends on the woman. She does, but then again, she’s a fabulous dancer, despite her penchant for leading. (Same.) But she doesn’t want a dance partner tonight. He says, whatever she’s looking for, tell him and it’s hers, and she says, okay. An apology.

At the bar, Alexis tells Sonny that she was at a convention out of town. It started early and ran late. She got a Ride Share and he dropped her two blocks from here and she didn’t want to miss Spencer, so she ran all the way here, for nothing. What about him? He says he had some business to take care of. He missed the party, but he said his goodbyes outside. She thanks him for keeping her company. She really wasn’t looking forward to going home anyway. She goes home and thinks about all the things she has to do and then she worries about everything. She doesn’t think he was in much of a rush to get home either, was he? He says he’s going to go there after he leaves here. He saw Kristina. He takes it they haven’t spoken lately. She says she’s just respecting some boundaries, taking a step back. She thinks she overstepped. He says, her? Overstep? She says, it’s hard to believe, isn’t it? and he says he thinks it’s good she’s taking a step back. She says, it’s not like she has a choice, and he says, whatever the reason, it’s a good thing. She says she hopes so, because it’s killing her.

TJ says he can’t stop smiling, and Molly says, her neither. He says, they’re going to have a baby. He thanks Kristina and hugs her. She says she’s honored to be a part of it, and he says, she’s so much more. She made the most wonderful thing happen for them and they’ll never be able to thank her enough. Kristina says, the look on their faces right now is all the thanks she needs. He says, she might feel differently during labor. How is she feeling? Don’t hesitate to tell her OB if she’s feeling… Kristina tells him that he doesn’t have to be a doctor right now. Just be a dad. It’s okay. TJ says he’s going to be a dad, and Molly says she can’t wait to hold the baby and smell that little baby smell. He says, and play airplane while they feed their baby mashed bananas and smile like idiots while they wipe the mashed bananas off their baby’s face… Molly says, and our hair… Kristina says, and the floor and the chair… TJ stops smiling, and Molly asks, what’s wrong? He says he can’t help but think they got excited like this before. They talked about this before and it didn’t work out.

Elizabeth says, Violet will love Finn no matter what job he has. She thinks he hung the moon, and she happens to think Violet is right. And she’s convinced he’s going to win this lawsuit. He says he’s grateful for her conviction. He wishes he shared it. Tomorrow the trial starts, and his future will be in the hands of twelve people in the jury box. Twelve people who never practiced medicine, who apparently only care if he’s nice or likeable. How does he defend himself without coming across as defensive? How does he share his medical expertise without being arrogant? She says, he’s passionate about his job. He cares deeply about his patients. That will come through, and in the end, those twelve people will wish he was their doctor. He asks how she can be so confident, and she says, because she’s inspired by him every day. He says, that might be the nicest thing she’s ever said to him, and hugs her. He can’t imagine going through this without her. Martin knocks at the door and says, apologies, including for the late arrival. He’s afraid it was unavoidable. Now why did Finn need to see him?

Molly tells TJ that they’re using a new surrogate now. What are the odds of that happening to them twice? He says he thinks it happens to anyone. The first trimester is so delicate. Kristina makes them sit and tells them that they’re not spiraling down this rabbit hole. They have to have a little faith and just take a breath. TJ says, she’s right, and Kristina says, none of them knows what the future holds, but if the worst-case scenario does happen, then they’re going to handle it, the three of them, together. And if and when they’re ready, they can try again. Most importantly, they’re a team now. TJ tells her, if he hasn’t said it before, she’s a rock star, and she says she knows. Her sister is just like her, but better.

Alexis tells Sonny, it’s not like she doesn’t talk to the girls at all. She just keeps the conversation light and superficial. She wants to be careful not to alienate them. He says she shouldn’t worry so much, and she says, why? Does he know something she doesn’t know? Has he spoken to Kristina? He says he’s not going to break any confidences here, but he believes she knows Alexis’s heart was in the right place. She says, good. She appreciates that, but she thinks they would prefer she keep her distance and she wants to respect that. He says, no matter how badly she wants to? and she says, Molly is going to be a mom and Kristina’s going to carry her baby. What could go wrong? So she’s just going to bring joy into their lives and enjoy their journey. He says, she has to keep following their lead. Look what happened to him. He lost his family because of the pain he caused them. She doesn’t want that in her life. She says she just wants to reiterate this one thing again. The laws regarding fertility and reproduction are like the wild west, specifically… He says, does she know how many times she’s said this to him already? and she says, he thinks she’s neurotic, doesn’t he, and he just wants her to shut up and be a grandma. He says, she’s already said her concerns about the girls. Just move on. She says she’s trying, when both of their phones ring. She says, Molly, and he says, Kristina.

Jordan says she knows she asked Brick here, but she has to go. He says, too bad. They were just getting to know each other’s files. She says, they’re not going to talk about her and she’s already familiar with his file. He asks if she ever wonders about stuff that’s not in the files, and she says she can live with the mystery. He says, really? He would have expected the opposite. She says she’s been defying expectations her whole life, and he says he’d like to hear more about that. She says she’s been in touch with a contact. They were supposed to provide her with some information and reach out with a location, but she hasn’t heard back. He says, and she’d like him to track her contact down, and she says, they may have broken off contact because of certain… complications. He says, what kind? and she says, the federal kind. He says, what exactly is the nature of this project? and she says she can’t tell him. He says he sees. Let him get this straight. She wants him to put his neck on the line, with certain agencies he might add, but she doesn’t want to tell him why. She says, it’s better for everyone if she doesn’t, and he says he recalls her using words like discreet and knows how to keep a secret just a minute ago. She says she did, and she meant it. He says, good, because he knows how to keep all secrets – past, present, and future. She says she doesn’t doubt that, but she needs to keep the circle of trust small. For now. If he does this for her, she’ll owe him a favor as Deputy Mayor, no questions asked. He says he does love being owed, but he wants inside that small circle soon. She says, one step at a time, and he says, okay. He’ll start by triangulating her contact’s whereabouts. She says she’s not giving him her phone, but he says he doesn’t need her phone, just her number. He hands her his phone and she puts the number in. She says, don’t abuse it, and he says he wouldn’t dream of it. He leaves, and in the hallway, he puts his phone in his pocket and says, yeah. Gotcha now. I guess there’s my answer about where Zeke is. He’s been replaced.

Dante says, if the DA can reinstate some or all of the charges, then they’ll get a warrant for Esme’s arrest, and Laura says she’s already talked to Robert about it. He’s got one of his ADAs make one up right now. He’s hoping to get a judge to sign off on it tonight. He says, that’s great. They wait for them, then make a move. She asks if there isn’t anything they could do in the meantime. Heather really made it seem like Esme was primed to do something drastic. He says he could bring her in on some false pretense and see if he can get her to spill about the stuff she did with Cameron and Joss and Trina. Maybe that would be long enough to hold her for 24 hours, or at least long enough for Robert to reestablish the charges again. Chase joins them and says, 24 hours is better than nothing, and Dante says, but the problem is, Esme hasn’t been charged with a crime. Visiting her mother’s not illegal. Nikolas on the other hand, is a fugitive. He held Esme prisoner for months and is facing charges of kidnapping and assault. He’s got Esme’s child. In the eyes of the law, Esme is going to be looked at as the victim here. Laura says, then they should tell her that. She doesn’t want Esme to be badgered or bullied in any way. She just wants her contained so she’s safe from herself and they can get all of this other stuff sorted out. Chase says he’ll go with Dante as back-up, and Laura says, her too. She really thinks she can talk Esme off the ledge. Dante says, let’s just hope she hasn’t already disappeared.

Martin says he knows Finn is nervous, but his trial starts tomorrow. His advice is that Finn do something he enjoys, as long as it has nothing to do with the lawsuit or medicine. Cook a good meal. Watch a game. Maybe parcheesi. Listen to music. The fact is, he’s as prepared as he’s ever going to be, and worrying about things that haven’t happened yet is counterproductive. Finn says, as much as he’d like to take Martin’s advice, they’ve found something that might help with his defense. Martin says, and he’s just hearing about it now? and Elizabeth says, they weren’t sure it would do any good. They’re still not. Martin suggests they let him be the judge, and Finn says, Dennis Muldoon saw another doctor in Beechers Corners months before Muldoon ever approached him.

Robert says he’s sorry if he’s upsetting Diane. Shall we dance? He holds out his hand, and she says, he’s sorry for what exactly? He says, for… upsetting you of course (🍷), and she says, yes, of course (🍷). Absolutely. Because? He says he has no idea what he did, and she says, not a clue? Not an inkling? He says he’s not a mind reader, and she says, this time we have the DNA evidence to connect Corinthos to a crime and finally put the bastard away. Your guy’s going down… love, and there’s not a thing you can do about it. He tells her that when she says it that way, it sounds aggressive, and she says she’s sorry. Was there a more lighthearted, festive version he wanted to relay? He says he’s confused. They enjoy sparring with one another. She says she loves sparring with him. That wasn’t sparring. That crossed a line. Forget crossed, it blew right past it. He says he’s still confused, and she says she’s confused as to why. He says, none of that was about her. He was talking about Sonny. He was talking about taking down a defendant in court. Frankly, he’s not sorry about any of that.

Kristina says, Alexis and Sonny have great timing, and Alexis says, they were together when she called. They ran into each other at The Savoy. Kristina says, they were hanging out at The Savoy? and Alexis says, they don’t typically hang out, but when she’s with Kristina’s dad, he is… Sonny says, amazing. They were saying goodbye to Spencer again. Kristina says, that’s right. He and Trina are off to Paris. There’s a knock at the door, and TJ says, that’s probably his mom. He lets Jordan in, and they hug. Molly says, it looks like the gang’s all here, and Kristina thanks Jordan for coming. She knows this was a spur of the moment thing, but they have some news they wanted to share, and they didn’t want to wait. The procedure worked, and she’s pregnant with Molly and TJ’s baby. Obviously, they’re going to confirm it with a blood test, but… Sonny says, congratulations to all of them, and TJ tells Jordan, congratulations mee-maw. (I say, Jordan is not a mee-maw.) Jordan says, don’t ruin this.

Finn says, the doctor could only speak in hypotheticals, but she said if she did see a patient similar to Muldoon, she would have referred him to an oncologist, but they don’t know if Muldoon ever followed up on that referral. Martin says, they waited until the eleventh hour to tell him because this Dr. Sawyer isn’t willing to go on the record? and Elizabeth says, she skirted the line, but she definitely said enough to confirm it. Finn says, they don’t even know the name of the oncologist Muldoon was supposed to see, and Elizabeth says, right now, it just seems like a dead end. Martin says, not necessarily. There is one avenue they can explore.

Diane says, so Robert didn’t actually mean his apology? and he says he’s sorry for being unnecessarily harsh, but it’s his job to put men like Sonny away. She says, not just men like Sonny – Sonny. It has become abundantly obvious that he has a personal, and she might add highly unprofessional, vendetta against her client. He says, does he enjoy watching a known racketeer hide behind family and friends, hell, even the mayor? No, he doesn’t. Unlike Sonny, he works within the law. He can’t prosecute unless he has evidence. This time he has evidence. She says, and he couldn’t wait to use it. Here’s the crux of her problem – he gloated. He says, tell him something. Is she offended by the fact he might win or that Sonny might lose?

Alexis says she’s so happy that this is finally happening for Molly, and Molly says, is she though? Tell her the truth. Is she actually happy this is happening?

At The Invader offices, Dante says, no sign of Esme. He checked the breakroom and the lunchroom. He’s running out of rooms. Laura says, maybe she’s gone for the day, and Chase says, maybe Alexis knows where she is. They walk into Alexis’s office and see Doc on the floor, unconscious. Laura runs to him, and Chase says he’s going to call dispatch. Dante says, he’s still breathing, and Laura says, he has a pulse. They’ve got to get him to the hospital. Can he hear her? Please wake up. She taps his face lightly and says, what happened? Tell her.

Martin says he knows several private investigators that can help them out, including Sam McCall. One way or another, he’s going to get somebody looking for this unspecified oncologist tonight. At the risk of sounding like a cliché, if there’s a chance Muldoon had an inkling he had cancer, it will blow Finn’s cased wide open. Finn says, even if they do find this oncologist, they don’t know if they can provide anything that will help the case, but Martin says, leave that to him. What about the things Finn can control? Namely his testimony. For God’s sake, remember, only answer the question asked. Martin doesn’t want him to elaborate or help out. No information is offered unless explicitly asked about. Got it? Finn says he’s got it. Martin and Alexis have been abundantly clear. Martin says, good, because Finn’s testimony is either going to save him or damn him.

Alexis says she’s always and forever on Kristina’s side and TJ’s side and Molly’s side. She’s thrilled for both of them. She hugs them, and Molly asks Jordan if she can believe this, and hugs her. Alexis tells TJ, congratulations. He has to know how happy she is that her daughter found the perfect partner. He says he got pretty lucky too, and she says, they’re going to be great parents. She hugs him, and Jordan says, yes, they are. TJ says he has to add that at this early stage of their pregnancy, they’re not telling anyone who’s not in this room that they’re pregnant. Alexis’s phone rings, and she steps away. TJ says, they’ll make a big announcement after the first trimester, and Sonny says, nobody is going to know anything until they say so. TJ thanks him, and Kristina says she bought a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne just for this occasion. Jordan says, that sounds good, but Alexis says she’ll have to take a raincheck. Sonny asks, what’s going on? and she says, just an incident at work. Molly asks if everything is okay, and Alexis says, everything will be fine. It’s a beautiful night. Don’t let this ruin it. She tells Molly and Kristina that she loves them, and dashes out.

Diane says, Robert has lost her. She doesn’t understand the distinction, because no attorney likes to lose. He says, there’s an impartial nature here between the attorney/client relationship, and she asks where he went to law school. That is absolutely not true. She’s extremely partisan. She’s her client’s advocate. He says, come on. She’s gotten the better of him in court more than once. She’s smart as a whip. Too smart to believe that someone like Sonny is innocent of all the charges he’s faced over the years. She says, it doesn’t matter what she believes or what she knows or what she understands. It is her duty, it is her obligation as a defense attorney to provide the best, the most vigorous defense possible. One that is rooted in logic and evidence, for her clients. Anything less, and she’s derelict of her duty. He says, this is a whole lot more than a client just getting a vigorous defense, and she asks why she feels like he wants her to say something. He says he just wants her honesty, and she says, okay. He says, is Sonny her client, or is that murdering bastard her friend? She says, Sonny Corinthos is one of her best friends. Now does that change the way he looks at her?

Chase asks Alexis if Esme Prince was in this morning, and she says she saw Esme when she came in. She seemed fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Although she doesn’t think Esme would have clocked in until after she left. Chase asks if Esme has access to her office, and Alexis says, she does. So does the cleaning staff. Why is Esme his focus? An officer tells Chase that they found something, and hands him a paper inside an evidence bag.

Elizabeth says, your testimony could damn you? What happened to, Finn having a relaxing evening? Martin says, forgive him. He doesn’t mean to sound alarmist. As discussed, it’s almost certain Miss Miller is going to raise questions about Finn’s substance abuse. Elizabeth says, Finn’s been sober for years. His past addiction can’t be used against him now, can it? Martin says, if it is, he’ll object on the grounds of medical privacy, but there’s a chance he’ll be overruled, and the judge will allow Miss Miller to ask Finn questions about his drug use. Finn says, so not only does he have to defend himself as a doctor, he has to defend his sobriety as well, and Martin says, forewarned is forearmed. Those questions get asked, just answer truthfully and forcefully. The fact is, they only have his word that he was sober when he treated Muldoon. In the end, that’s all this trial is really about. Just make sure when he gets on that stand, the jury meets the man Martin knows him to be, and he’ll win.

Robert says he sees Diane as a sharp, passionate woman, and she says, they have that in common at least. He says he admires her desire to go that extra distance for her clients. That will never change. She says, but he doesn’t approve of her friendship with Sonny, and he says, she knows what Sonny’s done. He guesses he can’t understand how she looks past that. She says she would think it’s similar to how he can look past all the blood on Anna’s hands, and he says, that’s different. She asks, how is that different? and he says, she’s the mother of his child. Diane says, Sonny also has children, but she guesses that doesn’t give him a special dispensation as far as Robert is concerned. What about Holly? He says, what about her? and she says, as far as she knows, Holly didn’t bear any of his children, yet he can look past her alleged crimes? He says he can’t be responsible for everyone he went out with, and she says, no one’s asking him to. She’s also not judging him. Because she knows there’s more to both Anna and Holly than meets the eye. Just as there is more to Sonny. So can he accept she’s friends with Sonny without holding it against her? He asks if she can accept it’s his mission to put people like Sonny away, and she says, and if she can’t?

Sonny says he wants to make a toast. Having a child can be difficult at times, but it’s one of the most incredible experiences a person can have. He just wants to say he’s so happy they’re going to be able to share in the joy of watching their child grow up. Just like he did. Jordan says, to all of them and to her new grandchild, and they all clink glasses and say, cheers!

A doctor comes out of the room where Doc is, and Laura asks, how’s her husband? The doctor says, he’s stable. He’s sending Doc for tests now. She asks if she can see him first, and he says, just for a minute. On the verge of tears, she goes in and goes to Doc’s bedside. She smooths his hair and asks him to come back to her. Please. She takes his hand and says she needs him to tell her what she already knows in her bones, that it was Esme who did this. She promises she’ll bring Esme to justice. There are still so many things she and Doc want to do together, and she doesn’t want to do one more minute of this life without him.

In the hallway on the phone, Dante asks if Chase found anything, and Chase says, a letter to Esme from a woman named Maggie. Dante says, Maggie Fitzgerald? That was Esme’s old nanny. Chase tells him, she said she took a position with another family, and she wants Esme to come visit. (Wait. What? Wasn’t she involved with the whole Ryan thing? Why would she be inviting Esme over?) Dante asks, where? and Chase says, Toronto.

Martin says, if they’ll forgive him, he’s going to track down Sam, get her looking for that mystery oncologist. He points at Finn and says, deep breath. He leaves, and Finn says, deep breath. He takes one and says, so much for relaxing. Elizabeth says, it’s not over yet. There’s still time. He asks what she suggests, and she says her boys are having a sleepover, which means her house is empty. She can cook him dinner, they can listen to music… or he could listen to the game… He says, always music. Maybe some from that playlist she made when they were driving to Vermont. She says, after that, who knows? She puts her arms around him and asks if he’s good at parcheesi. He says he’s excellent at parcheesi… and a lot of things, and kisses her.

Robert says he guesses they’ve reached an impasse, and Diane says she would never ask him to apologize for who he is and what he does. He says, and he doesn’t want her to apologize for caring about Sonny. She says, what happens if they can never fully see eye to eye on this issue? and he asks, where does that leave them? He knows he’s not always good at expressing himself with these things, but he really does care about her. She says she feels the same way, and she’s not going to give up on what they’re building. He says, there’s really only one solution, and she says, let’s hear it. He says, they leave Sonny and the clients in the courtroom, and she says she totally accepts those terms. They sit back down, and Robert says, they can do this. She laughs and says, yes, they can.

Jordan hugs TJ and says, he knows she’s going to spoil this baby like crazy, right? and he says he won’t even try to stop her. Sonny says he’s very proud of Kristina. She gave TJ and Molly an incredible gift. She says, Molly is her sister and she’d do anything for her, and he says, any parent would pray to have that bond she and her sister have. He knows she’s happy right now, but just know the road is never going to be without challenges. Anything she needs – anything – she can always come to her dad. They hug.

Chase asks if Alexis recognizes this, showing her the sculpture Doc got whacked with, and she says she keeps it on her credenza. He asks if anything else looked disturbed to her, but she tells him, it’s hard to say if she can’t go through everything. Does he really think Esme attacked Doc? He says, she’s their primary suspect, and he has a bad feeling she’s not going to stop with Doc.

Still in the room with Doc, Laura calls Spencer and leaves a message. She says she knows he’s on his way to Paris, but she needs him to call her back as soon as he gets this. It’s about Esme. She leaves the room, and Dante asks if Doc is awake yet, but she says, not yet. She can’t help thinking about how long he might have been lying there. Dante says, he’s going to be fine. He has the best doctors here. They’re going to take care of him. She says she wants all that to be true, and he says, it is. She says, any word about Esme? and he says, they tracked the credit card she used to get a one-way bus ticket to Toronto. (Well, at least she’s being thrifty with Alexis’s money.) Laura says, any idea who she knows up there?

Tomorrow, Chase tells Jordan that they need the address for where to find Esme; Trina asks if Spencer is going to teach her; Laura says, Anna is the next, most qualified candidate; and Valentin asks Nina, what’s the plan for taking back what’s hers?

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Paris, France. Valentin and Anna are making out on the couch when there’s a knock at the door. She says, it must be his contact, draws her gun, and opens the door. A beautiful blonde woman breezes past her, saying, Valentin, mon amour, and kisses him.

At Spring Ridge, Esme says, there must be a mistake. She tried to explain to the judge… The guard says, someone will be here shortly to escort her to her room, and Esme sits down, putting her head in her hands. Heather smooths Esme’s hair, and says, it’ll be all right, sweetheart. Everything’s going to be all right now.

A phone with an alert from The Invader says: NEWS: Judge Holloway ordered Esme Prince to be remanded to Spring Ridge Minimum Security Prison until her trial is concluded. Ms. Prince faces… Spencer looks up from his table at Kelly’s, and thanks Ava for coming. He says he wouldn’t have blamed her if she’d blown off his request to meet. She says she considered it, and he asks why she came. She says, he knows what killed the cat, doesn’t he? She saw the news about Esme going to Spring Ridge. Does he want to throw a party? He says he wants something else, and she asks, what’s that? He says, someone he can trust.

Nina checks in at the hospital reception desk, telling the nurse that she’s here for a follow-up test to see if she’s a suitable match for bone marrow. How long does it take for her to find out she’s a match for Willow Tate, and where do they want her? The nurse says she’ll be right with her, and steps away. Sonny says he knows Nina is amped up, and she has every right to be, but she needs to slow it down, because she’s still processing the fact she’s Willow’s mother. Nina says, a fact Carly kept from her, and he says, but there is a possibility Nina will give Willow what she wants, and save her life. Nina just has a lot going on right now. She says she can handle it, and she can handle a lot more. She still can’t wrap her head around it. Yesterday, Willow was not her friend, and now she’s the daughter Nina didn’t know… She just can’t lose her.

Willow tells TJ that she let Dr. Navarro know she’s ready to have the baby. Whether that means inducing labor or having a C-section, she’s ready to move forward. TJ says, that’s such a relief, but Willow says she’s still worried about potential risks to the baby by having her prematurely. He asks, what changed her mind? and she says she doesn’t want to just give birth to this baby; she wants to raise her. She looks at Michael, and says, giving birth so she can get a bone marrow transplant increases the chance she’ll survive, so that’s what she wants to do. TJ says he’s not questioning her decision, but he doesn’t want them to get ahead of themselves. Willow says she knows. They still need to get confirmation that the woman who’s her biological… that Nina is a match, and they can go ahead with the transplant. TJ’s phone beeps, and he says, Nina just arrived for her follow-up test. Keep the faith. He’ll do everything else. Willow thanks him, and he leaves. She tells Michael that she still can’t believe it. After all the friction with Nina in her life, their whole family may depend on her. He says he can’t help thinking if they’d known sooner, this whole thing would have been over. Carly looks into the room window.

Valentin says he thinks some introductions are in order, and introduces Anna to Renee Levesque. Anna says, Valentin didn’t do her justice. She was expecting a little sewer rat. In French, Renee says, Valentin called her a rat? and he says, certainly not. He said she was a cataphile. He tells Anna that there’s a way Renee can help them find Lucy.

Heather says, she’s Esme’s m… mate, as in friend. Consider her an ally; Esme’s one woman support group. They’re all in this together at Spring Ridge. All of them are alike… misunderstood, lonely, lost… locked up. Esme says, unfortunately, that’s her, lost and locked up. She thought maybe Heather knew who she was, and why she’s locked up in this place, and Heather says she wishes she could tell Esme. She really has no memory at all of her past? Esme says, not one, and Heather says, that would explain it. Esme says, explain what? and Heather suggests they begin with introductions. She’s Heather. She shakes Esme’s hand, and Esme says she’s been told her name is Esme. Heather says, that’s a pretty name, from the French. It means beloved, loved. Esme says, Heather knows more than she does, and Heather says, she knows whoever gave Esme that special name must have loved her very much. Esme says, if they loved her so much, where are they now when she really needs them? and Heather says, who knows? Maybe they’re closer than she thinks. Esme says, they certainly weren’t there in the courthouse when the judge called her a menace to society, and sent her to come here. Heather says she sees Esme’s pregnant. Does she know how far along she is? Heather would guess her third trimester. She knows this isn’t a great prison, but it sure beats being sent to Pentenville, or the D’Archam nuthouse. Esme tells her, if you say so, and Heather invites her to sit down. Get to know each other better. They have all the time in the world.

Ava says she assumes Spencer wanted to meet to discuss the future of his family estate, and he says, Windymere. What about it? She says she thought his father or Uncle Victor would have told him. She plans to make Windymere the grand prize when she divorces Nikolas. He says, really? and she says, that wasn’t the reaction she anticipated. He says he admits there was a time when the family estate mattered a great deal to him, but now it’s more of a reminder of… She says, a reminder of what? Esme? He says, it isn’t Esme that he cares about; it’s the baby she’s carrying. Ava knows the baby is his father’s, and he knows the baby is his father’s, but Esme does not. She says, his father knows, and Spencer says, which is exactly why they have to make sure he never has the opportunity to ruin another life the way he ruined theirs.

Sonny says he refuses to believe Nina discovered she has a daughter, and she’s going to lose her. And he’s going to move heaven and earth to make sure Willow and that baby make it through this. She says she knows he can do anything he puts his mind to, but this is all on her, and whether or not she matches with Willow. TJ comes out, and asks if Nina is ready to have her blood drawn. She says she is, and asks if he’s doing it, but he says, the nurse will do the honors, but he wants to be there as Willow’s friend to supervise. Does she have a problem with that? Nina says, no, she doesn’t… Does he have a problem with it? She just wants to say again that she’s sorry… He says, someone’s life is at stake; his friend’s life. That’s all that matters. Nina agrees, and he asks her to follow him.

Michael asks what Carly is doing here, and she says she got all the way home, and realized she was taking the coward’s way out, so she came back. He says, not now. Nina is waiting for a test to confirm if she’s a bone marrow transplant match. She says, thank God, and he says, the point is, he doesn’t want anything upsetting Willow right now. Carly says, and the last thing Willow needs is her. She understands. Willow says, wait. She tells Carly, they’ve learned the hard way that keeping silent does the most harm, and Carly says, that’s why she’s back; to tell Willow that she’s really, really sorry. If she could go back to the night she found out Nina was Willow’s birth mother. If she knew then what she knows now… Michael says, so it’s Willow’s fault for keeping her condition a secret? but Carly says, no. She’s not second guessing or blaming. If she was in Willow’s shoes, she would have done the same thing. She would have done whatever it took to save her baby. Willow says, it’s the hardest decision she ever had to make, and Carly says she’s in awe of Willow’s courage, but if she’d known what Willow was facing, Willow has to believe she never would have kept secret who Willow’s birth mother was. Willow says, even if it was Nina? The woman who took everything from Carly?

In an exam room, Nina asks TJ why they have to do another test? Didn’t the cheek swab confirm she was a match? He says, the cheek swab was only an indicator she might be a match. Once they take her blood sample, they can compare it with Willow’s, and that will definitively tell them if she’s a match. Nina says, and then Willow will get a bone marrow transplant, and she’ll start to heal, and she’ll be able to have the baby. Sonny says he knows she’s excited, but they have to let TJ and the nurse do their job first. He asks TJ to give them a second, and TJ leaves with the nurse. Sonny tells Nina that Donna always gets a lollipop before she gets a shot. Is there anything he can do for her to take care of her? She says she doesn’t need a lollipop, but she does need him to do something. He says, name it, and she says, be happy for her.

Ava says, there was a time she had faith in Spencer’s father, and Spencer says, look where that faith has gotten her. He cheated on her with Spencer’s ex-girlfriend. She says, not that she believes in their marriage now, but there was a time she did. If that makes her a fool for love, so be it. At least she was happy for a time. Some people never even get that. He says, when he came back to town, he thought she was the root of all evil, and she says she knows; he was quite vocal on the subject. He says he knows now it was wrong. He thought, if only he could break up Ava and his father’s marriage, everything with him and his father would fall into place. Now he realizes the problem was never Ava; it was his father. She says, there’s no question Nikolas wronged them both, but he didn’t do all that damage on his own. He had a little help, from Esme.

Heather takes some yarn from a basket, and tells Esme, this is what we call occupational therapy. We make friendship bracelets. She pushes the basket toward Esme, saying, try it, but Esme pushes the basket away. Esme says, according to the cops and the staff at General Hospital, she has no friends. Heather says, that’s okay. Esme can have the one she’s making when she’s done with it. A gift from one new friend to another. Esme says, ever since she woke up in that hospital bed, she’s been treated like a criminal, or like this baby inside of her is some ticking time bomb, but Heather says, not anymore. She’s not going to let that happen. Esme says she doesn’t understand. They just met. Why does Heather care what happens to her?

Anna says, cataphile, that’s impressive. Did Renee go to school for that; the history and layout of prison catacombs? Renee says, but of course (🍷). She went to the school of hard knocks. She and Valentin learned together – she takes his arm – combing the catacombs at night. They’d pop up and have their pick of the finest jewelry shops in Paris. Anna asks what they did during the day, and Renee says, what the Parisians do better than anyone, and laughs. Valentin extracts himself, and says, as nice as it is to see Renee again, a woman’s life is at stake, and every second counts. He hands her a folder, and Renee says, they’ll keep it about business. Anna says, they need access to the compound. They need to gain entry, so they can get in and extract their prisoner, and then they need to get out. They’ll need to make a getaway. Valentin asks if Renee thinks it can be done, but she says, sadly, no…  except by the greatest cataphile of them all – moi. Anna asks if that means she’s willing to help them, and Renee says, for Valentin, she’ll do anything. She knows exactly which branch of the mines will afford them access to the compound. Anna says, Renee called them mines? and Renee says, it’s a common mistake to call them catacombs. The truth is, it’s a network of 15th century subterranean mines connected by large galleries. For their purposes, all that matters is she gets them where they want to go without detection. Valentin asks where she’s going, and she says, to make arrangements. Don’t worry. She’ll be back. She kisses him on both cheeks, leaving red lipstick prints. She leaves, and Anna says she’ll just clean him up a little bit, and wipes the lipstick off.

Heather says, Esme is right not to trust just anyone. Shows she has good breeding. She must come from good people. Esme tells her, if you say so. Then again, why should she trust Heather? Heather says, that’s my girl, and Esme asks what that means. Heather says she just meant, If they stick together, they can help each other. Most Ridgeans are harmless enough, but every place gets their share of riff-raff. Esme says, like who? and Heather says, like Ryan Chamberlain. She needs to avoid him at all costs. Esme tells her, Dr. Collins said he had a twin named Ryan, and he couldn’t hurt a fly, and Heather says, Ryan appears to be suffering from a physical condition that’s left him a bit declawed. But trust her. Stay away from him. He’s as sick as they come. Esme says, what about Heather? What did she do to end up in here? Heather says she loved too much. First, it was about her sons. One of them is in the slammer, and the other is six feet under. Esme says she’s sorry to hear that. Is there anyone else? Heather says, yes, a daughter; her one and only.

Spencer tells Ava, Esme is anything but an innocent victim. And even if it’s proven she’s not a killer, she’s no more fit to raise a child than his father is. That’s why he’s hoping to hire Diane Miller to sue for custody. She says, he wants custody, even though the child isn’t his? and he says, yes. It may not be his child, but it will be his half-sibling; his flesh and blood. That baby will be the only innocent person in this family, and if there’s any hope of salvaging something good out of all the pain and lies his father has inflicted on them, it lies with that baby. She asks, what was Diane’s reaction? and he says, Diane told him it’s a long shot, but she would consider going to war for him. Ava says, Diane’s no fool. If she thinks there’s a chance… She asks if he’s told his father his intentions, but Spencer says, he’ll know when the time is right. She asks what Trina thinks of his plan, but he doesn’t answer. She says, he hasn’t told Trina either, has he?

Carly tells Willow that Nina didn’t take anything from her. Sonny made his choices, and the MetroCourt is just real estate. She has her family, and Willow and her baby are a part of that family. She’d never knowingly put Willow at risk. Michael says, but she did by keeping the truth from Willow, and Carly says she was just trying to protect Willow. She was so worried about the harm Nina would cause, and she knew if Nina wormed her way into Willow’s life, she wouldn’t stop there. Michael says, just call it what it is. It was revenge. Carly says, it was not, and Willow says she needs to talk to Carly alone. Michael says, anything for her, and leaves. Carly sits down, and says, it’s just them. Say what she needs to say; don’t hold back. Willow says, don’t worry. She won’t.

Sonny says he’s happy for Nina. He just starts thinking about Carly and how she kept that secret from Nina and Willow, when it could have been life and death. Nina says, let her make this clear. She has no intentions of forgiving and forgetting what Carly did to her, but right now it’s about saving her daughter. Her whole life, she wanted a child. She thought she had a chance with Sasha, but that was just a cruel lie. Then she found out Nelle was her daughter after she was dead. It’s like this incredible gift was given to her; she gets to be a mother. And no matter how Willow feels about her, no matter their history, Willow needs her. Sonny says, Willow is lucky to have her, but Nina says she’s lucky to have Willow even more. She needs Willow just as much. TJ and the nurse come back, and TJ asks if they’re good to go. Sonny says, they’re good, and leaves. Nina says, let’s do this, and hops onto the examining table.

Willow says, for not one minute does she believe Carly would deliberately hurt her, but it wasn’t Carly’s decision to make. Once Carly found out who her mother was, Carly owed it to Willow to tell her; to trust her to be able to handle it. She’s not made of glass. She lost a child and thought she’d die with him, but she didn’t. She found the strength to go on. And if it’s not too late, she prays she has the strength to live for Michael, Wiley, and their new baby. Carly says, Willow is right. She did the very thing she’d hate if it were done to her. She didn’t trust Willow to stand up for herself. She asks if Willow can find it in her heart to forgive her, and Willow says she’s forgiven Carly already. (Pfft!) Carly thanks her, and says she’s so sorry. She’s so grateful for Willow, and loves Willow as if she was her own daughter. She’s going to let Willow get some rest. If there’s anything she needs… Willow asks if Carly will stop by the house, and give Wiley a hug. Carly says she can do that. She truly prays that Nina comes through for Willow and the baby. Willow says, so does she.

Valentin gives Anna a glass of wine, and tells her, before she says anything, there’s nothing going on between him and Renee. Anna says she knows. Not now, but in the past. He says, remember the smash and grab robberies he told her about that he engineered in Prague, Berlin, Milan, Paris of course (🍷)? Renee was a key part of the operation because of her understanding about the catacombs. He thinks it was for the thrill; she enjoyed being a rule breaker. She says, and him? and he says, it was an opportunity to make a large sum of money by separating some very rich people from their baubles. He’s never claimed to be a choir boy. However, he’s made some very generous donations to charity, and the high end jewelry stores were heavily insured. She says, so it’s a victimless crime, but he tells her, he wouldn’t say that. But there are far uglier ways to make money. She says, and Renee? and he tells her, like he said, she was in it for the thrill, but there was never a real connection; not like he has with her. She says she just wonders if they can trust her. It’s not jealousy, but he’s climbed out of the catacombs into the light, and she wonders if Renee is in it for an easy score or to break some more rules. He says, Lucy’s life is at stake. There’s no time to find anyone else, at least not with Renee’s skills. So how does she want to play this?

Outside, somewhere in Paris, Gavin says, they took their sweet time getting there. It’s freezing. We see he’s meeting Renee, and she hands him some cash. She asks if this will keep him warm. There’s more where this came from. Does he still work for Victor Cassadine? He says, who? and she says, askMonsieur Cassadine what it’s worth to him to have his son and Anna served up en brochette.

Heather tells Esme that her little girl was taken from her when she was just a baby. Esme says she wishes someone would take hers, but Heather tells her, don’t ever say that. Getting her little girl back, and keeping her safe and happy is all she lives for. She grabs Esme’s hand, and says, there’s nothing she wouldn’t do… Esme says, Heather is hurting her, and Heather says she’s sorry. Esme asks the guard if her room is ready, but Heather says, don’t leave yet. They’ve just begun to get acquainted.

There’s a knock at Willow’s door, and Sonny says he got her message that she wanted to see him. She says she can’t believe she’s saying this, but how’s Nina?

Michael goes to the chapel, and kneels down, then gets hit by a lightning bolt. He says he’s not asking for him. He’s asking for Wiley and the baby and Willow. He knows there’s going to be a lot of baggage dealing with Nina as Willow’s mother in the future, but that’s next week’s problem. For today, please let them be a match. Just… give Willow a chance. That’s all he’s asking. He hears the door open, and Carly is there.

In French, Renee tells Valentin, it’s all been arranged. She’ll lead them tomorrow through the underground network. Through the twists and turns until they reach the compound. From there, they can find the prisoner and set her free. He says he knew he could count on her. What did he tell Anna? She’s one of a kind. Anna tells him, she’s everything he said she’d be, and more so. Renee says, just like old times. N’c’est pas, mon amour? She touches his face, and asks Anna if they’re in this together.

Spencer tells Ava, looping Trina in would only complicate her life, which is something he’s done plenty of already. She says, he can’t have it both ways. He can’t try to renew his friendship with Trina, and keep her in the dark about such a big move. Or hasn’t he learned anything from the last time, when he came back to town with Esme? He asks if Ava really thinks he should tell Trina, and she says she does. Tell her, and let her make the choice if she wants to be involved. He says, she’s right, but he didn’t ask her here to get advice. She says, then what? She knows Diane is expensive, but he certainly doesn’t need her money or approval. He says, if he’s going to go up against his father, he can’t do it alone.

Heather follows Esme to the other side of the room, and says she’s sorry if she came on too strong. Seeing Esme in the family way pushed her buttons. Does she know if it’s a boy or a girl? Has she picked any names? Esme says she just met Heather, and what she decides to do with this baby is strictly her business. Does Heather understand? Heather says she understands completely. That baby isn’t just an inconvenience to Esme, no matter how she tries to pretend. Esme cares about her child. Almost as much as Heather cares about hers.

Carly says she’ll keep her distance, but Michael says, Willow needs all of their prayers. She tells him that he keeps saying what Willow needs; what about him? Does he have room in his heart for her?

Valentin tells Anna, they have to move quickly before Victor learns of their plan and moves Lucy to another location. It’s now or never. Anna looks at Renee, and says, then it’s now.

Michael says he knows what Carly wants to hear, but he can’t deal with her right now. All that matters is Willow, and he needs to be with her. He walks out.

Willow says she doesn’t know if there will be a happy ending for her, but Sonny tells her, don’t say that. She’s going have beautiful baby, and get much better. Trust him. She says, even he can’t guarantee that. So if it turns out she’s not here for her family, she needs him and Michael to stop being enemies; become father and son again. She’s not saying it will be easy. Sonny will have to earn it, but please do whatever he can to win Michael’s forgiveness. Because she knows Michael needs him, and Sonny needs Michael. He takes her hand, and says he’s going to do what he can. Take care of his grandchild, understand him? She nods, and Sonny leaves.

Ava says, Diane already warned Spencer that he’s in for a fight. She knows Nikolas, and he won’t hesitate to play dirty when it comes to the custody of his child. Spencer says he’s ready. After all, his father taught him all those same dirty tricks. She says she admires his initiative, but he’s right. He’s going to need all the help he can get. He’s going to have to count on somebody who’s willing to get down and dirty too. Spencer asks if she has anyone in mind, and she points to herself.

The guard says, Esme’s room is ready, and Esme jets. Heather says she knows it’s just Esme’s hormones talking. She understands what Esme is going through. The guard escorts Esme down the hall, and Heather yells that she’ll be here when Esme needs her. She goes back to the table, and yells, wait. Esme forgot her bracelet. She clutches the bracelet to her chest.

TJ comes back to the exam room, and says he thought Nina would be long gone by now. He personally made sure the lab has her bloodwork, so there’s nothing more she can do until they get the results. She says she just wanted to know what’s next. She knows she’s going to be a match. Does he know how soon Willow can get her transplant? He says, nothing can happen until Willow gives birth. After that, she’ll go through another round of chemotherapy to kill the diseased cells. After that, they take stem cells from Nina, and inject them in Willow’s bloodstream. Nina says, okay, and then? and he says, if all goes well, Willow will produce healthy new blood cells. Nina says, all has to go well.

Michael goes back to Willow’s room, and asks if there’s any news. Is Nina a match? She says, nothing yet, and he tells her that he said a prayer for her and the baby. She says she needs all the prayers she can get, and he says, that’s what he told his mom. Willow might be able to forgive her, but he’s not sure he can. They hug.

Carly is in the chapel when Sonny walks in.

Tomorrow, Curtis says they’d like Marshall’s help with the ceremony; Josslyn says she’d never make Spencer choose sides, but clearly he already has; Dex says, the sooner this is over for him, the better; and Sonny says, Carly might be able to lie to herself, but not to him.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sonny gets into Eli’s office, and a security alarm goes off. He starts tossing things around, pulling things out of drawers, and throwing them on the floor.

Eli tells Nina that he’s glad they got that straightened out. That means he can do something he’s wanted to for a while. He moves in for a kiss, and Nina says, how about them Mets? It’s a lovely night. Why rush things? Now that she’s decided to stay in Nixon Falls, they have all the time in the world.

Sonny continues to mess up Eli’s office.

Carly thanks Diane for coming on such short notice. Can she offer Diane a glass of Sonny’s scotch? That’s how they discussed legal matters, right? Over a glass of single malt? Diane thinks her, but says she’ll take a raincheck for now. The main matter is Jason. She finds it a little disappointing and disconcerting that two clients wouldn’t trust her enough to fight groundless charges, and instead, chose to resort to a dangerous, albeit daring, criminal escape. While she’s certain she can still argue that Jason didn’t kill Franco, he now faces additional charges. Carly says she’s sure Jason did what he felt he had to do. Now she has to do the same. She has some legal work she needs to go over with Diane. Diane asks, what kind of legal work? and Carly says she needs her will revised. She needs Diane to bring it up to date.

Michael sees Willow coming into the Quartermaine mansion. She says she knows it’s Wiley’s bedtime, and wanted to say goodnight before he fell asleep. He says she’s about 15 minutes too late. The little guy was out like a light. She says she’s just going to tiptoe into his room and give him a kiss; he won’t even know. Michael says, he will. A kiss from her is pretty hard to forget.

Lucy approaches Brando at the MetroCourt, and says she owes him a big, fat apology. He says, for what? and she says he probably knows Sasha is such an asset to Deception, an asset that’s expanding every day now. She never properly thanked him for saving Sasha’s life.

In the restroom, Sasha is on the phone. She says she’s a patient of Dr. Navarro’s and wondered if she can prescribe something for morning sickness… Great. She’ll be expecting their email. She puts some water on her face, and leaves. Gladys comes out of one of the stalls, and says, so. The super model went and got herself knocked up. Damn.

Brook reads about water births from her laptop. Labor pains will still happen, but the water provides a relaxing, soothing environment. She listens to a narrator talk about water birth, while hearing a women groaning with labor pains in the background. Her phone rings, and she says they’re not going to believe the video she just watched. She’s completely on board with getting Bobbie involved. In fact, she thinks it was a stroke of genius. Maxie says she doesn’t have long to talk. Her live-in nurse brought her to GH to meet her new OB/GYN. She needs Brook to meet her there. She needs to Brook the keys to the house in Beecher’s Corners, so Brook can meet her when the baby is born. She needs Brook to go there, stock it with supplies, so everything is ready… Is Brook still there? Maxie and her baby need her. Brook says, don’t worry; she’s all in. Brook opens the door to leave, and Valentin is there. He says, going somewhere?

Maxie turns around and sees Peter. She asks how long he’s been there. What is he doing there? He says, as the father, he was informed of her appointment with her new OB/GYN. He’s just there to offer moral support. She says, that’s so considerate. Fortunately her live-in nurse came with her. She introduces Chloe to Peter, and Peter says so she’s the woman Maxie chose to care for their child. It’s nice to meet her at last. Chloe says it’s nice to meet him too, and Maxie rolls her eyes.

Valentin says he and Brook had an agreement; they’re in this together. She says she wasn’t aware their agreement meant she had to clear her comings and goings with him, and he says they agreed to do what’s best for the baby. She says it might have helped if he hadn’t hired Boris Badanov to, quote unquote, shadow her. He’s about as inconspicuous as a two-legged fridge. He says, Yuri is a good man. He trusts Yuri with her. She says she knows what’s good for her baby, and he says, their baby. She says, their baby. But Valentin is the one with the long list of enemies. If anyone’s putting them in harm’s way, it’s him.

Sasha comes back, and sees Lucy talking to Brando. Lucy says, if he hadn’t acted so quickly, they wouldn’t have just lost a spokesmodel, but a very dear friend. It could have been a million times worse if he hadn’t just jumped in. He says he’s sure anyone would have done the same thing, but she says he’s being way too modest. Deception owes him an extreme debt of gratitude, and Sasha owes him her life. Gladys joins them, and says, really? Tell her more. Brando says it doesn’t concern her, but she says, her son concerns her. Lucy was saying he saved Sasha’s life. Lucy says she wasn’t there, but Sasha told her all about it, and Brando managed to step in in the nick of time.

Sasha looks at her phone, and says, thank God; a prescription for nausea. Cyrus comes by, and says, good evening, Ms. Gilmore. Small world.

Diane tells Carly, in her dealings with Sonny, she knew what she wanted to know, and made very sure she didn’t know what she didn’t want to know. And she doesn’t want to know about Carly’s new responsibilities. Carly says, okay. Then let’s leave it at this. She wants Diane to update her will in the event that something should happen to her. The house phone rings, and Carly says, of course (🍷). Thank you. She asks Diane to excuse her, and goes to the door. Ava is there with Avery, and says, Avery has been wanting to have a sleepover with her sisters, so she took the chance of dropping by. Or is this a bad time? Avery says, please?

Eli tells Nina, time has a habit of slipping away, and he doesn’t want to lose a moment with her. He starts to move in again, but his phone dings. He looks at it grimly, and she asks, what’s the matter? He says, it’s a message from his security company. There’s been a break-in at his office. She says, what? How horrible. He says, the police have already been contacted, and he’s sorry, but he has to get over there. He’ll drop her off. She says, no! She’s coming with him. He says, that’s really sweet, and she looks at her watch.

As the alarm continues, Sonny is copying information from Eli’s computer. He says, come on, speed it up. He hears sirens, and sees flashing lights through the window.

Michael asks Willow if Chase’s condition improved after he left, and she says, whatever Finn gave him, helped with the symptoms, but unfortunately, it still isn’t a cure. Chase thinks Finn isn’t telling him the whole story. He asks why Finn would withhold information, and she says, it doesn’t seem like something he’d do, but Chase brings it up every time they talk. He says, maybe Chase is just bored and frustrated. He would be in Chase’s place. The doorbell rings, and Michael lets Ned in. Michael says he can’t get used to Ned ringing the bell; it’s still his place. Ned says, not at the moment. He came back because he forgot something. Michael asks if that’s really it, and Ned laughs, and says, busted. Today was really a breakthrough. Things weren’t quite as tense between him and Olivia. They actually enjoyed themselves singing songs. It was only for a few hours, but it was really nice to be part of the family again.

Valentin says he and Brook may have gotten into this situation accidentally, but she’s carrying their baby; that means something. She says she knows she’s been hard on him, and she’s not backing down from their agreement about the stock, but that being said, she finds it reassuring knowing the baby has him. She has faith that he’ll do everything he can to protect this baby, and she finds that really comforting. Ned comes in, and asks if everything is okay. Brook says they’re just resetting some ground rules. She asks if she can go to the bathroom, or is Yuri going to follow her in there too? She leaves, and Valentin says, it’s the hormones talking, but Ned says, it’s the DNA talking Get used to it. Brook dashes out the front door.

Peter says he thinks Maxie is overtaxing herself by coming there, considering she’s still on bedrest. She says, if it makes him feel better, she had Chloe check her blood pressure before they left, and it was stable, so there’s no risk to the baby. Chloe confirms that, and Maxie says, besides it’s really important she has this meeting. She was so comfortable with Britt, and she needs to get to know Dr. Navarro. He says it’s such a shame his sister is no longer in charge there, and tells Chloe that he’s counting on her to do whatever is necessary for the baby. Understood? Chloe says, that’s the plan.

Avery says, hi, Aunt Diane, and Ava says, sorry. She didn’t know she’d be interrupting anything. Carly says, Avery is always welcome, and tells Diane, Ava thought Avery would like a sleepover with her sisters. Avery says she made a picture in school of Donna, and Diane suggests the go up and show it to her. They go upstairs, and Ava says, look at that. One smile from Avery, and it can melt even Diane Miller’s cold heart. Diane says she heard that, and Carly says she’s thrilled to have Avery there, but they both know the surprise sleepover is just an excuse. What does Ava want? Ava says, the truth.

At Eli’s office, Nina arrives with Eli, and they go inside with an officer. Eli says, they really trashed the place, and the cop says, just like all the other robberies. He’ll dust for prints, but doesn’t expect to find anything. Just another smash and grab. Nina says, this is becoming way too common in Nixon Falls, and Eli says he doesn’t understand why anyone would break in his office. He doesn’t keep anything of value there. Petty cash… He looks in the box, and says, which they seem to have found. It makes him wonder. Is this just another robbery, or is someone trying to send him a message?

Sonny puts the cash in the register at the Tan-O, when Phyllis comes in. She says he’s not fooling her. She knows what he’s been up to. She saw him put money into the register. He should be saving up for his future. That’s the trouble with him; he’s too darn generous for his own good. Not only with Lenny and her. He says he doesn’t know what she means, and she says she’s talking about Nina. How come she’s out with Eli tonight instead of him?

Eli tells Nina, he can’t figure out why anyone would break in his office. He doesn’t keep anything there worth the risk of breaking in. Nina takes off her earrings, and quietly drops them to the floor. The officer says he’ll have to get a statement from Eli, and Eli tells Nina that he has to go to the station. He’ll drop her off. She tells him not to think about that. He has to move quickly to find out who did this. She can walk; she needs to get in her 10,000 steps. He says he’s sorry their night had to come to an abrupt end, and she says, her too, but if he can help the police find out who’s behind this, then it’s worth it. He says he’ll take a raincheck, and they can finish what they started, and she nods enthusiastically, and walks out with him.

Carly asks if Ava wants to explain what truth she’s after, and Ava says, she’s sure Carly remembers that recently she asked Ava to host a dinner party; the guest of honor being Nikolas’s new Uncle Cyrus. Carly says she remembers it ended sooner than it was supposed to, and Ava says if Carly had told her the reason she wanted Cyrus to stay, she could have been better equipped to detain him. Carly says, the real reason, and Ava says she wants to play it like that? She’ll play, and she’ll state the obvious. While she was entertaining Cyrus, Jason was escaping from General Hospital. That can’t possibly be a coincidence.

Cyrus says, not to be unkind, but Sasha doesn’t look well. Is she feeling all right? She says there’s something going around, but fortunately, her doctor has something to remedy the situation. If he’ll excuse her… He says he’s heading to GH shortly. He’ll tell Brando to bring the car around. She says, no thank you, and he says he’s disappointed she’s so standoffish. He was hoping they could put past mistakes behind them. She says, like she told him, as part of her recovery, she has to be careful who she associates with. He says, what could be more beneficial to her recovery than being with the Chairman of the Board of the very hospital that saved her life? She says, the way she remembers it, the night she collapsed, he didn’t care if she lived or died.

Lucy tells Gladys, there was actually a time when Sasha was on a date with Cyrus Renault. Apparently, they ended up back at his penthouse. Power does make a man very attractive to an ambitious young woman. Gladys asks how her Brando fits in, and Lucy says, unfortunately, Sasha had a sudden heart attack, and Brando stepped in at just the right time, and got her to GH. Gladys says her son is a hero… Now it looks like Sasha and Cyrus are closer than ever.

Valentin says he wants to know what’s going on with Brook, and texts Yuri, but Michael says, in case he didn’t notice, Brook values her independence. Valentin says he noticed. He would never dream of stifling her independence, but he needs to know that she and the baby are protected. Willow thinks Valentin’s concern for the baby is touching, and Ned says it bodes well for their future as co-parents. Valentin says, it bodes well for the whole family, because once he returns the shares he acquired from Brook, the Quartermaines will be in control of ELQ once again. Ned says, this isn’t about ELQ, and Michael says they’re doing well. Let’s just take a breath. Yuri comes in, and says he got Valentin’s text. Valentin asks where Brook is, and Yuri says he thought she was with Valentin.

Deanna tells Maxie that Dr. Navarro will be with her soon; come with her. Maxie says Peter doesn’t need to stick around. She’s just having a casual meeting with Dr. Navarro. Brook gets out of the elevator, but stops when she sees Peter. Maxie suggests Peter and Chloe take this time to get acquainted. After all, hiring a nurse was his idea. Brook scoots around the corner, and Peter says it makes him happy that Maxie sees them as one big team. (Ugh.) He’s sure he and Chloe will find plenty to talk about. Maxie heads for where she saw Brook go, but Deanna comes out  of the examining room, and says, all set? Maxie goes in with her, and asks if Deanna every does private nursing. Chloe is nice and all, but she’d rather it be Deanna. Deanna says she’s flattered, but her schedule at GH is full at the moment. Brook sneaks around some more.

Valentin tells Yuri, Brook’s car is gone. Is this what Yuri calls keeping an eye on her? Yuri apologizes, but Valentin says Yuri better hope she turns back up, or he’ll be looking for another job… in the Ukraine.

Ned tells Michael and Willow, there’s a part of him that’s very proud of Brook for refusing to let Valentin boss her around. However, as a father… Michael says, we have rights, and Ned says, exactly. He knows Valentin is worried about the baby, as he should be, given his history with making enemies. Valentin listens outside the door, and Willow says she can only speak to her experience of Valentin with Charlotte, but he’s a loving, devoted father. She imagines he’ll be the same with this baby. Michael says, leave it to her to find a way to bring this family together, especially when there’s a child involved.

Deanna leaves the examining room, and Brook jets in. She says, that was a close call. She looked like a deer in headlights. If Peter would have turned around and seen her… Maxie says they don’t have much time. She gives Brook the keys to the house in Beecher’s Corners, and says they need to go over the plan one more time, just so she knows they’re on the same page. Brook says, they leave town separately, and Maxie says, so Peter and Valentin can’t track that they’re together. Whoever gets there first will set up the house, and make sure they have supplies. Brook says, and Bobbie will come to deliver the baby. She’ll wait in another room… Maxie says, no. Brook will need to help. Brook says she’s been watching a lot of videos, and doesn’t think she’s cut out to be so up close and personal with a delivery. Maxie says she knows the situation is anything but ideal, but without Britt, they have to make it work. Louise’s life depends on it. Brook says she’s right. Keeping Maxie’s baby safe is the only thing that matters, and if she has to be part of the delivery, she’ll manage. But Maxie has to manage stringing Peter along, and make him not suspicious. Maxie says Brook has to do the same with Valentin, but Brook says, Valentin’s not so bad. He hovers, but he means well, and actually respects her as a person. He’s not some creepy stalker like Peter. Sorry. Maxie says, don’t ever apologize for speaking the truth. Peter is dangerous and deluded, and he can never go anywhere near this baby. Brook says, he won’t. She promises to meet Maxie at Beecher’s Corners. She slips out, and goes to the elevator, and Maxie tells the baby, it won’t be long now, sweetie. Maxie knows her birth is going to be a little unorthodox, but as soon as she knows Louise is safe from her father, they can be together forever.

Carly tells Ava, sometimes a family dinner is just a family dinner, and Ava says, and other times, it’s a diversion. Carly needed to free Jason, and she needed to do it that night because he had to be at a very important meeting. Carly says she doesn’t know what Ava is talking about, and Ava says, she may be out of the game, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still hear things. The Five Families stuffed shells met for the first time since Sonny’s death. From what she heard, Cyrus was late, but he did show up, and things could have gone very differently for the Corinthos family, but apparently, they did not. Carly says, enough. If Ava has something to say, say it. Ava says she wants to tell Carly something. After everything she heard – unofficially, of course (🍷) – she has a new appreciation for Carly. She knows they have a rocky past, but they have a common enemy in Cyrus, so she’ll tell Carly again. If there’s anything she can do to help bring that man down, count her in.

Sonny tells Phyllis, Nina’s a big girl. If she wants to spend time with Elijah, so be it. He thought she was Eli’s biggest fan. She says, she’s quite fond of Eli, but the truth is, she expected Sonny to make a move on Nina by now. He laughs, and she says she recognizes sparks between to people when she sees them. Or maybe he doesn’t care as much about Nina as she thought. He says he definitely cares about Nina, and walks over to the phone.

In Eli’s office, Nina sits at his desk. She turns on the computer and puts in a flashdrive. The screen says, initializing keystroke history, and it signs her in. She says, okay, she’s in. Let’s see what she can find.

Valentin says, Brook has not checked in to General Hospital, and Ned says he’s not going to call the jail? Valentin says he was hoping Brook could resist provoking local law enforcement, since she’s pregnant. Brook walks in, and says, don’t stop. He was saying? Valentin asks to speak to Brook alone, but Ned’s not so sure that’s a good idea. Brook says she’s got this, and Ned says he never doubted it. He, Michael, and Willow leave, and Brook says, now that they’re alone, is this where Valentin tells her the deal is off?

Peter tells Chloe that he’s happy to see this is working out so well. Maxie seems to already trust her. She says, a crucial part of her job is gaining clients’ trust. He knows that, or he wouldn’t have hired her. He says, shhh… Maxie is the one who hired her. Don’t ever let her think otherwise. It’s important Chloe cultivate trust with Maxie, so when the time comes for the baby to be delivered… She says she knows the plan. She makes sure Maxie and the baby leave Port Charles, and arrive at the place in Podunk. He says, Pautuck. He likes to think of it as an idyllic getaway for him and his family, before they vanish to begin their new life, far from the reaches of everyone there who wants to keep them apart.

Dr. Navarro tells Maxie that she and the baby are right on schedule. Maxie says she can’t believe it. It won’t be long before she’s holding little Louise in her arms, even if it’s just… The doctor asks if everything is all right, and Maxie says, everything is great. Dr. Navarro says she’ll see Maxie soon, and leaves. Peter asks how it went, and Maxie says, couldn’t be better. He says, good. That’s just what he wanted to hear.

Cyrus calls Brando over, and says, the lady would like a drink. He can handle that, can’t he? Brando asks what she’d like; a martini, vodka and soda? She says she’ll be fine with just sparkling water, and Brando goes to the bar. Cyrus says she’s really taking her recovery seriously, isn’t she? and she says, more than he knows.

Gladys says, they certainly seem to have some chemistry, don’t they? and Lucy says she never noticed before, but something is going on. They’re practically giving off sparks. Gladys says she could imagine if they had kids, with her good looks and his determination, and Lucy says, that would be a devastating combination. Lucy asks Gladys to excuse her, and intercepts Sasha on her way to the bar. She asks if she can steal the face of Deception for a teeny, tiny moment, and steers Sasha to the other side of the bar. She says, oh my gosh, it’s him, isn’t it? Sasha says she doesn’t know what Lucy is talking about, and Lucy says she doesn’t know why she didn’t think of it sooner. The two of them were splashed all over Page Five. Cyrus Renault is her baby daddy, isn’t he?

Carly says she doesn’t know what Ava heard, or who she heard it from, but her main concern is keeping her family safe until Jason is exonerated, and assumes control of Sonny’s business. Ava says, Jason does have a talent for beating charges, but in the meantime, know that if there’s anything she can do to keep Avery safe, she’ll do it. All Carly has to do is ask. Diane comes downstairs and says she doesn’t see any blood on the floor. She’ll take that as a good sign. Ava says she and Carly have reached a new understanding. Please give Avery a goodnight kiss for her. She leaves and Diane asks if Carly wants to tell her what that was actually about. Carly says, Ava just paid her a compliment, and Diane says, proceed with caution. When Ava Jerome becomes a member of your fan club, it’s time to reassess. Carly says, don’t worry. She doesn’t need Ava’s approval, or her help.

Sonny says he’s starting to get worried about Lenny. Maybe Phyllis should check on him at the clinic. He’ll hold down the fort. The phone rings, and he says he’ll take care of it. Phyllis says, if she were a more suspicious person, she would think he’s trying to get rid of her. She leaves, and Sonny says, Tan-O. Mike speaking. Nina says, their plan worked like a charm. Eli and the police think it was just an ordinary Nixon Falls break-in. She came in through the back door that he left open, and thanks to the software he installed, she has access to Eli’s computer. He says, tell him about her victory later when she’s out of there. Has she found anything incriminating? She says she found something interesting that could lead her to more. He says they don’t need more; they need her out of there. She says she has to print a hard copy of the things she found, and has to make sure there’s no trace of her being on Eli’s computer. The documents start printing.

Ned tells Michael, when he sees Olivia, just tell her how much he enjoyed seeing her today. Michael says, he’s got it. he’s pretty sure Olivia enjoyed it too. Ned hopes Michael is right. He really needed this. He leaves, and Willow says she should be getting back to the gatehouse. Michael says, before she goes, he wanted to thank her. When it looked like Ned and Valentin were going to DEFCON 1, she stepped in and helped keep the peace. She tells him, what can she say? Someone has to be the voice of reason. He says he hopes she provides that voice for a very long time to come. He walks her to the door, and they say goodbye.

Valentin tells Brook, their deal is very much still on. He’s not sure why she would think otherwise. He realizes he can’t ask her to give up her life just because he’s made some enemies. She says, welcome to the 21st Century, and he says he thinks he’s come up with the perfect solution. He, Charlotte, and Yuri will be moving in. That way, they can all be together.

Peter says Chloe is outside, waiting to take Maxie home. He likes Chloe, and thinks Maxie made the right choice in picking her. Maxie says, her too, when Dr. Navarro walks in. Maxie says she remembers the baby’s father, Peter, and the doctor says, of course (🍷). It’s good to see him again. Peter says if the doctor wants to see Maxie alone, he can step out, but Maxie says, it’s okay; he can stay. She’s a little confused though. She thought Dr. Navarro said everything was okay with the baby. Is there a problem? The doctor says, the baby is fine, but she was going over Maxie’s birth plans. Dr. Westbourne said she’s open to inducing? If that’s the case, there’s really no reason to wait. She recommends they induce right now. I don’t know much about birthin’ babies, but I find it difficult to believe the doctor would suggest that if there’s nothing wrong. On the day she and the patient are supposed to be getting acquainted, no less.

Sasha tells Lucy, Cyrus is definitely not the father of her baby, and stop trying to figure out who is. She already told Lucy, the father doesn’t even know she’s pregnant. Lucy says, then Sasha needs to tell him, and let her know as soon as she does. She’ll call Sasha later; feel better.

Brando brings Sasha’s water over to her, and says, the last time he saw her at GH in the elevator, she said they should talk another time. How about right now? That night at the garage, she seemed happy, and he knows he was, so if he said or did something wrong, he doesn’t want to lose their friendship because of it. She says he didn’t do anything wrong, and he says, then what is it? What’s wrong?

Gladys tells Cyrus, she heard congratulations are in order, and he says, excuse me? She says she heard he’s becoming a father. He looks pretty puzzled, and I laugh.

Diane says she and Carly have known each other a long, long time, and while she’d never presume to speak for Sonny, she can advocate for those two little adorable girls upstairs. It’s very apparent, in the brief time she’s known Avery and Donna, even to this cold heart, how much they love and rely on Carly. Carly says she loves them just as much, and will do whatever it takes to protect them. Diane says she knows Carly is more than capable of doing that, but it comes at a price. So she’s going to talk to Carly, not just as her lawyer, but as her friend. Of course (🍷) she can change some things about Carly’s will, but please, don’t do anything to change her life, because it’s their life too. And they need her in it. Diane picks up her bag, and leaves.

Sonny says, Nina, dammit! Get out of there. She says, it just finished printing. She’s on her way. She takes some papers out of the machine, folds them up, and shoves them in her bag. Eli walks in, and asks her what she’s doing there. Sonny listens, still on the other end of the phone.

On Monday, Brando asks Sasha what’s going on, Peter asks if there’s something the doctor isn’t telling them, Cyrus says some messes are unavoidable, Nina says she can explain everything, and Brook says, over her dead body.
