January 16, 2023 – Nina Explains Things To Willow, Horrible Guests Who Break Stuff On Deck & a Dream

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Portia says she’ll be damned if she’ll allow Spencer to worm his way back into Trina’s heart again, and Curtis says he gets it. Just tread lightly. She says, it’s too late for that. She’s already made it extremely clear, and Spencer knows how she feels about the matter as well. He says he’s not talking about Spencer; he’s talking about Trina. If Portia tries to keep Trina from him, she might end up doing the exact opposite, and push her straight into Spencer’s arms.

Spencer thanks Diane for coming over, and she says, her fee for an after hours consultation is quite substantial, but he says he’s good. He’ll cover her retainer right now to prove it. She asks if it’s a criminal matter. He just got out of Pentenville, and hasn’t even had a chance to cash his commissary check yet. He tells her that he doesn’t need a commissary check, but don’t worry. This isn’t a criminal matter, but a civil one. She says she’s listening, and he says, it involves Esme Prince’s baby – full custody.

As they walk into the chapel, Elizabeth asks if Nikolas is sure the police found nothing at Windymere, and Nikolas says, it’s as if Esme was never in the north tower. She asks, how? and he says, Victor took care of it. She says, Victor knows? How did he figure out what they were up to? He says, Victor knows what he was up to; he left her out of it. She thanks him, and says, so the police are satisfied, and they’re not an immediate concern? He says, no, but his family is.

Esme is startled to find Laura there when she wakes up, and Laura says she’s so sorry. She was trying not to wake Esme up. Esme says, she’s not a doctor? and Laura says no, just an interested party. Esme asks how she got in here, and Laura says, funny. She was about to ask Esme the very same question.

Carly says, her guess is that Nina is in the lab getting her cheek swabbed, and Drew says, she agreed to be tested? Sonny asks if that’s why Carly came into the chapel. She didn’t guilt Nina into it, did she? Drew says, Sonny has this all wrong, and Carly says, it was Nina who laid the guilt trip. Sonny asks what Carly has to feel guilty about.

Willow tells Nina, get out, and Michael says, not now. Willow says, not ever. She wants Nina out of this room, and out of her life for good. Nina closes the door, and says she’s sorry. Willow’s life may depend on her. Willow suggests Nina talk to a shrink about that savior complex of hers, and tells Michael, get her out of here. On second thought, don’t give her another reason to drag them into court. Get hospital security. Nina says she’s not leaving, not yet, and Michael says he thinks Willow should hear what Nina has to say.

Laura tells Esme that one day, she just disappeared. Some say she went to Europe, and others say she stayed here in Port Charles, and committed some pretty heinous crimes. Esme asks what Laura thinks, and Laura says she’s not sure. Esme coughs, and Laura gets her some water, saying, that’s why she’s here actually. She gives Esme the water, and tells her, drink. She doesn’t want to get dehydrated right now. So tell her, where was she all those months she was missing, and how did she get here with hypothermia? Esme says she wishes she knew, and hands Laura back the glass. She says, so Laura sat here, watching her sleep, giving her a nice drink of water. Does she know Laura? Laura says, her name is Laura Collins. She’s the mayor of this city. Esme says, wow. She’s guessing, from what people think of her, Laura isn’t here to give her the key to the city, and Laura says, no. She’s here because she’s the grandmother of the baby Esme is carrying.

Portia says she needs another drink, when there’s a knock at the door. She tells Curtis, if that’s who she thinks it is… Curtis gets up, but she says she’s got this; she’s calm. She opens the door, and Taggert is there. She tells him to come in out of the cold. She didn’t realize he was back in town. He says he came back when he saw the photo of Trina with that Cassadine kid. Does he need to worry about his baby girl?

Sonny asks what Carly has done, when Dante joins them. He says he heard about Willow, and Sonny says he’s sorry he didn’t tell Dante. There’s a lot going on. Dante says, it’s cool. He stopped by Willow’s room, but Michael and Nina were there. He didn’t want to interrupt. Carly says, Nina was in Willow’s room? and Dante says, yeah. What’s her prognosis? Carly says, Willow has stabilized, but she’s in desperate need of a bone marrow match. Dante says he should get tested, and Carly asks Drew to show him where the lab is. Drew leaves with Dante, and Carly asks to talk to Sonny. They step away to a more private area, and Carly says, Nina is Willow’s mother.

Willow asks Michael to tell her what’s going on, and Nina says she doesn’t want to upset Willow. Willow says, epic fail, and Nina says she’s so sorry for all the arguments they had. She’s sorry for all the ways she’s disappointed Willow. Willow says, Nina’s told her this before; it’s just lip service. She never means it, and this time’s no different. Nina says, this time, it’s very, very different, and Willow asks, why? Nina says, now she knows Willow’s her daughter, and Willow laughs. She says, Nina has lost her mind, but Nina says, she just found out. It was kept from both of them. They lied to Willow. Willow says, Nina is accusing someone else of lying; that’s rich. She asks if Michael believes Nina, and he says he does, because it’s true.

Elizabeth says, why would Victor want to keep evidence in a storage unit of Nikolas keeping Esme captive? and he asks why she thinks; leverage. She says, against who? Nikolas? That’s disgusting. He says, no, that’s Cassadine, and she says, so this isn’t over. Does he have any idea where the storage unit is? He says he has no idea, and she says, so that’s it. His uncle has the power to destroy them both. Nikolas says he’s quite sure Victor doesn’t know she’s involved, or he would have mentioned it. He has no evidence leading back to her, or Nikolas would already know. She says she doesn’t know how he can be so sure, and he says he can’t, but he can promise to do whatever it takes to shield her from any trouble he’s brought on her. He’ll take all the blame if that’s what’s needed, but right now, it’s not Victor they have to worry about talking; it’s Esme.

Esme says, Laura is Spencer’s mother? but Laura says she’s Spencer’s grandmother. Spencer’s father, Nikolas, is her son. Esme stayed with her and her husband Kevin when she and Spencer were together. Esme says, Kevin Collins, the psychiatrist? and Laura says, yes. Esme says she met him; he looked so familiar. Laura asks if she looks familiar, and Esme says, the guy who came to see her told her that his name was Spencer. She’s confused. Laura said Spencer is her grandson, but she’s carrying Laura’s grandchild? Laura says, it’s a lot of names to keep up with, and shows Esme a picture on her phone. She asks if this is the guy who came to visit, but Esme says, the guy who came was younger. Laura shows her another picture, and Esme says, that’s him, and smiles. That’s her baby’s father. We see it’s Spencer.

Diane says, take it from the top, and Spencer asks, how hard is it to gain full custody of a newborn? She says, there was a time father’s weren’t favored in family court, but that hasn’t been the case for decades. He says, what about custody awarded to another family member? and she says, that’s a little trickier. Given his family’s unusual history, she’d say Laura would be in the best position to petition. Don’t forget, Esme will need to be stripped of all parental rights. But given that Esme is Esme, she sees that as a possibility. He says, what about a sibling getting custody? and she says, a sibling of the baby? He says, does that happen? and she says, yes. It’s rare, but in this case there’s no… Esme’s baby isn’t his, is it? He shakes his head, and she says, is Nikolas the father?

Michael says, Drew confirmed it. Nina is Willow’s biological mother. Willow says, no. Drew was looking into her family, and would have told her this himself. Nina says, Drew didn’t know until Willow was hospitalized, and Willow asks how he found out. Michael says, new information came to light, and Willow says, and Drew told Nina? Nina says, Carly told her, and Michael shakes his head slightly. Nina says, they’re all very worried about Willow, and Michael tells Willow, they don’t have to have this conversation right now. Willow says, if not now, when? She may not have much time left. Michael says, no, but Willow says she doesn’t have much time to wait. She needs to know how this happened. And she needs to know now.

Carly tells Sonny, that’s why she came to find Nina in the chapel. She wanted to tell Nina that she and Willow are biologically related, and Nina needed to get tested as a bone marrow… He tells her that she can stop right there. How did she come by this information? She says, Harmony told her, and he says, Harmony’s been dead for months. How long as she known? She says, what’s important right now is saving Willow; the details don’t matter. (Ha-ha-ha! Okay.) He says, the details do matter. They matter to Willow, and they matter to Nina. And they sure as hell mattered to Carly, because she kept her mouth shut. He wants to know, if it’s true, why did she take so long to tell them? Drew joins them, and says, it’s true, and Sonny asks if he knew too.

Nina tells Willow that she didn’t know she had twins, and Madeline gave one baby to Harmony. She made Phyllis Nina’s nurse, and had Phyllis give Nelle to the Bensons. Willow says, Nelle was her sister. She fought her own sister in court. After she found out Harmony wasn’t her biological mother, she had no relations, and now it seems she has two. Nina says, she has more. Her Aunt Liesl, and sweet little James. Willow says, if this is true, that makes… Wiley her nephew. Nina says, it is true. She thought she lost her only child, and Willow thought there was never going to be a chance for her to have a relationship with her real mother. Maybe this is a way for both of them to get something they never had before.

Taggert says he thought Trina was done with this Spencer creep, and Portia asks him to keep his voice down; she’s upstairs sleeping. And she thought Trina was done with Spencer too, but apparently, they’re friends again, no matter what they think. Taggert says, we’ll see about that, and Portia says she understands his sentiment, but thankfully, Curtis talked her off the ledge before she made things worse. Taggert says, oh he did, and Curtis says he was telling Portia that he thinks they should give Trina space to figure things out for herself. Taggert says, no offense, but he’s not Trina’s father.

Laura asks why Esme thinks Spencer’s the father of her baby. Did he say he was? Esme tells her, he said it was possible. It is possible, right? Laura says, Esme and Spencer have quite a history, and Esme says she hopes he’s the father. He was so kind to her. He told her they used to be boyfriend and girlfriend, but they broke up. Laura says, yeah, and Esme asks if the first photo Laura showed her was of Nikolas. He’s her son? Laura says, yeah. Has he been here to see her? Esme says, not yet, but if he’s any but as nice as her and Spencer, she wouldn’t mind. Can she ask Laura a question? Laura says, of course (🍷), and Esme says she gets the feeling not many people in this town like her, and it’s weird not knowing if she’s guilty for the accusations about her or not. Someone must have cared about her other than maybe Spencer. Laura said Esme lived with her, right? Can Laura tell her anything about herself? There’s a knock at the door, and Dante says, sorry to interrupt. He was hoping to get some answers. Esme says she’ll try her best.

Spencer asks if he has a chance, and Diane says, the courts aren’t usually keen on taking a child from both biological parents, unless it’s for good cause. He says, it should be easy enough to convince a judge that Esme is unfit. Not only is she facing legal challenges, her state of mind and health are factors. Diane says, those are good points, but a good lawyer could argue all of them on behalf of Esme. He says, lucky for them, Diane isn’t just a good lawyer; she’s the best. She says, while flattery is nice, a good case is nicer, and he says he knows it’s possible, because Michael was able to gain custody of Avery. She says, correct. His Aunt Alexis won that case, but it was short lived. Ultimately, Michael gave Avery back to Sonny and Ava, and now they have joint custody of their daughter. But she’s assuming he doesn’t just want temporary custody. He says, no. If he gets his way, this baby will never know either of its parents.

Willow asks Michael to give her a few minutes with Nina alone. Please. He kisses her head, and says he’ll be close by, but she says, this won’t take long. He leaves, and Nina says, it’s a lot, huh? She’s reeling too. She sits by the bed, and says she spent years and years looking for her child, and the pain of that loss has haunted her every single day, but she has a daughter… who hates her. Willow says, don’t put words in her mouth, but Nina says, it’s no secret they fight with each other, but she’s hoping that ends here and now. That they can move forward, and build a new relationship. They can look back on this with a new sense of wonder about how they’ve come so far, and they can tell that story to Wiley, then tell that story to the new little one. Willow says, they won’t be telling either of her children stories. She asked Michael to leave to spare Nina some dignity, but make no mistake. The fact that they have a blood tie changes nothing between them.

Sonny asks if Drew hid the truth from Nina and Willow too, and Drew says, he would have told her if he’d known. Sonny says, so this is a vendetta, but Carly says, it’s not, and Drew says, Carly wasn’t trying to hurt Nina; she was trying to protect Willow. Sonny says, make that makes sense to him, and Drew says, Willow was furious after the visitation hearing, and didn’t want Nina anywhere near her. Sonny says, that’s because Willow didn’t know Nina was her mother. Carly asks if he’s forgotten the hell Nina put Willow through, and Sonny says, Carly can fool Drew all she wants, but she’s not fooling him. She wasn’t doing this to protect Willow. She was doing this to get back at Nina. Carly starts to protest, when Michael come by, and says, enough.

Diane says, Spencer has every right to feel betrayed, because he was, but he has no obvious legal right to his father’s child. She’s going to be blunt, because that’s part of her charm. She’s concerned a judge is going to hear the anger she just heard, and wonder about his motive. So she has to ask him, is what he’s trying to do in the best interest of the child, or is he seeking revenge against Nikolas and Esme? He says he doesn’t care about his father and Esme, although sticking it to his father would be the icing on the cake. She says, there it is again, and he says, this is about saving a child from an amoral mother and a dangerously selfish father. This is about breaking a cycle; a cycle he’s all too familiar with. When his father wasn’t pretending he was dead, he was choosing a woman over Spencer. This goes beyond bad parenting skills. His father is a toxic and damaging person. He doesn’t want to sit idly by while his father breaks another child’s heart or damages another child’s self-esteem. His little brother or sister deserves better. She says, as did he. Well said, and they can put forth that argument, but she has to tell him, the odds are stacked against him. He says, what if there was something he could do to even those odds?

Elizabeth says, it doesn’t appear that Esme will recover her memories any time soon, and Nikolas says, good. Elizabeth says, good for them; not for Esme. Nikolas says, a blank slate can be a blessing. Esme has no memories of the low-down dirty deeds she’s done. She doesn’t have to carry the guilt like he does. She says, it’s a double-edged sword. Being spared the pain is a blessing, but knowing there’s something you can’t access is torture. It’s just torture. He asks if they’re still talking about Esme, and she says she doesn’t think Esme is going to remember anytime soon, which makes Victor’s evidence moot. He says, it’s a pile of junk. Even with Esme’s DNA on it, it doesn’t pinpoint the time and location. She lived at Windymere for months on and off. As long as she doesn’t remember, they’re safe. It’s going to be okay. There’s no evidence, no testimony, no proof.

Dante shows Esme a picture of the ornament, and asks if it looks familiar. She says, it looks like a Christmas ornament, and he says, she had it on her before she was admitted. Can she take another look? It might give them a clue as to where she was before she ended up here. She stares at it for a while, but says, it doesn’t look familiar, and Laura asks to take a look. She says, it looks hand-painted, and Dante says, it’s probably part of a set. They’re trying to figure out who made them. Esme looks at it again, but says she’s sorry; it means nothing to her. Dante gives her his card, and says, if she thinks of anything, give him a call, but she says, no. Why would she help the police build a case against the girl she used to be?

Michael says, Willow’s life is imploding, and they’re out here fighting like children. Carly asks how she is, and Michael says, on top of the fact that she’s sick, she has to deal with the fact that the woman she actively hates, that she told to drop dead, is her mother. Drew says, they’re here for both Michael and Willow in any way possible, and Carly says she’s sorry. They’ll put aside their differences and focus on Willow, but why the hell was Nina’s first instinct to go talk to Willow instead of getting tested? Sonny says, Carly has no right to question Nina after what she’s done, and Carly says, go to hell. Michael says he needs to talk to Sonny in private, and they head for a less trafficked area. Michael says, Carly knew Nina was Willow’s family, and didn’t say a thing, and Sonny says, that’s because she wanted revenge on Nina. Michael says he doesn’t give a damn about Nina. Willow is his one and only priority. Sonny says, okay. He wants to help Michael. How can he? Michael says, by dealing with his feelings about what Carly did to Nina later; away from him and Willow. Sonny says he can do that, and asks how Michael is holding up. Michael says he doesn’t care about himself; he cares about Willow. She’s devastated, and he wants to make things better for her. Sonny says, that’s what Michael is doing. He’s looking out for Willow’s best interest. He’s there for her as a partner, and as a father. He’s doing all the right things.

Diane asks what Spencer means by even the odds, and he says he was with Esme for years. According to his father, he was only with her for one night. Who’s to say he’s not the father? She says, that’s an interesting wrinkle. She’s always and only about presenting the best possible case for her clients, so if he tells her that he’s the father, she’ll take that into court. But if he has even an inkling that a DNA test might prove otherwise, she’s not going down that road. She will not be a party to fraud. So if that’s what he’s looking for, he has to keep looking for another lawyer, and don’t forget, his father can bring in his own DNA test. And what does Spencer think those results will be? Spencer asks what his options are, and she says, here’s her charming bluntness. Again, it’s very difficult to strip a child away from its biological parents. It’s a long shot. And they would be fighting on two fronts. While Esme doesn’t have the resources his father does, she still has rights, but his father is going to level everything he’s got at Spencer. He’ll attack Spencer. Spencer is fresh from Pentenville. Not his first stint, but his second, so he’ll be playing defense. He says he’s sure she can handle that, and she says, of course (🍷) she can handle it. She’ll present a very effective case, but she’s got to warn him, she can’t guarantee him a win.

Dante tells Laura, chalk one up for nature versus nurture. Even in Esme’s state of amnesia, her instinct was to protect herself. Laura says she noticed that. She asks if the Christmas ornament is related to The Hook killer investigation, and Dante says, they don’t know yet, but they’re pivoting away from Esme as the prime suspect. Could she be involved on some level? Maybe, but there’s no way she committed the acts herself. Laura says, that’s a relief, but she’s still under investigation for the revenge porn charges? He says, yeah, and the drugging of Oz Haggerty. She says, Esme will be discharged soon. Will she be granted bail or held in a facility? He says, that’s above his pay grade, but he’s sure the DA will be calling her soon, and they can figure out the right answers. She says she’s not sure there is a right answer. No matter how they choose to deal with Esme, the public will be watching and judging.

Elizabeth says she should get going, and Nikolas says, the talk about memory loss seemed personal. Did she ever figure out why she was losing time? She says she’s sorry. She never told him, but she did. The sleepwalking and blackouts were the result of the illustrious Carolyn Webber using her psychiatric expertise to repress Elizabeth’s memory. He asks if her father knew, and she says, yes. She knows her situation isn’t the same as Esme’s, but she’s been where Esme is, and knows what it’s like to not be able to rely on your memory, or to be confused about the lack thereof. He asks, what happened? What made her parents so desperate for her to not remember?

Curtis tells Taggert, he may not be Trina’s biological father, but he is speaking from experience. She didn’t appreciate him weighing in on her personal life, and all but told her mother to butt out of her business before she went up to bed. Taggert says, Trina’s always been strong-minded and independent, but giving her space to make her own mistakes is a lot different than standing back and watching her put herself in danger. He and Portia didn’t let her play in traffic as a child, and they’re not going to let her play with the Cassadines. He knows that family too well. He tells Portia to have the princess call him when she wakes up. He’s sorry for ruining their evening. He leaves, and Portia says, Curtis knows she values him, his opinion, and his support. It’s just that when it comes to Trina, Taggert is territorial. He says he gets it. For now, he’ll just keep his parenting advice to himself. That is until they have their own. He hugs her.

Carly tells Drew that she can deal with Sonny’s anger; she expected it. But the way Michael avoided her eyes… He says, they all need a little time, and she says, and if it affords Willow more time, it will all be worth it.

Willow says, if there’s proof Nina is her biological mother, she’ll accept that fact, but she’ll never accept Nina. Nina continually tried to destroy their family. She kept Sonny away from his loved ones, then insinuated herself with Willow’s son, and ripping their reputation to shreds… Nina says, Willow isn’t well… and Willow says, she hasn’t been well in months, but that didn’t stop Nina’s torment. She accused Willow of having an affair with TJ, when he was supporting her through her diagnosis. Nina says she didn’t know, and Willow says, she didn’t care to know. She jumps to conclusions because Nina has been hell-bent on taking her and Michael down by any means necessary. And this is the same story she wants to tell Wiley someday? Not a chance. Nina says she thought Wiley was her only tie to a woman she believed was her only daughter. Losing a child left her broken and untethered. If anyone understands how that effects a mother, Willow does. A crime was committed against her, and Willow. Willow was taken without her consent. She couldn’t save Willow’s sister Nelle, but she’s saving Willow.

Michael says he has to get back to Willow, and Sonny says, of course (🍷).

Nina says she’s the closest donor match, and Willow says, if she is, what does she want in exchange? Nina says, nothing. Willow doesn’t owe her anything. Does Willow think she came in here to emotionally blackmail her. Willow says she doesn’t know what she believes; she only knows she doesn’t trust Nina. Nina says, okay. She accepts the fact that this might not change anything for Willow, but she wants Willow to know she’s going to the lab to get tested. She looks at Willow, and says, they have the same eyes… This might not ever change Willow’s mind, but Willow is her daughter, and if she has the power to save Willow’s life, she’s not letting anything stop her. Not even Willow. She leaves.

Portia tells Curtis, discussing parenthood in the abstract is one thing. Bringing a child into the world is another. He says, all right. Let’s do more than discuss it. They sit down, and she says she loves him. He says he loves her too. They have their entire future ahead of them. She asks, in that future, does he really see himself as a father? He says he knows there are no guarantees, but hell yeah. He’d love to continue the Ashford name with a child of his own.

Diane says, if Spencer is serious about gaining custody of this baby, she will seriously consider taking this case. But he has to stop calling her Miss Miller, and call her Diane. He says, as long as he can call her, and thanks her, but she says, don’t thank her yet. It would be a long and arduous road. He says, understood, but she says, is it? The most terrifying thing about wildfires is, once they’re lit, they’re almost impossible to control. Once a case like this gets into a courtroom, it’s like a wildfire has been lit within a family. Look at Sonny and Michael, or more recently, Michael, Nina, and Willow. He says he doesn’t have much of a family, especially where his father is concerned, and she says, okay, but a decision like this will upend his young life. And it might impact ever single one of his relationships. So before he calls her again, she wants him to think long and hard about how far he’s willing to go. Once this wildfire is lit, it’s going to rage with unforeseen consequences.

Nikolas says he’s so sorry that happened to Elizabeth, and she says she’s sorry Victor is threatening him. He says, you have to love the irony of relying on Esme to evade both the law and his uncle. The fates must be laughing themselves silly. She says, they’re both at the mercy of Esme’s memory. She might be hypocritical, but her instinct for self-preservation is stronger than her empathy. She wishes there was a way they could make sure Esme wouldn’t get her memory back, but that’s next to impossible. She leaves, and he says, never say never.

Laura tells Dante, this is a very high-profile case, and unfortunately, she’s front and center. She doesn’t like to sound like a politician, but she’s painfully aware of the optics. Esme was her grandson’s girlfriend and lived in the house with them for a while. The baby she’s expecting could possibly be Laura’s close relation. They can’t let her go without consequences, but how can they prosecute a woman who can’t recall the crimes she’s committed? He says he doesn’t envy her and Robert right now; it sounds like a nightmare. She says she can’t help but feel for Cameron and Spencer. Their lives were so impacted by Esme’s actions. How do they get restorative justice for them? If they take it on faith that Esme’s memory is gone for good… Dante says, that’s a big if, and asks if Laura thinks she’s faking it.

Esme looks at the photo of the Christmas ornament again.

Drew says, revealing the truth was painful, but in doing so, Carly gave Willow a chance to survive. Carly says she hopes so; she prays. She thanks him for not making feel worse.

Michael goes in to see Willow, and says, talk to him. She says, why her? Why couldn’t it have been anyone else besides Nina?

Nina tells Sonny that she has a daughter. It’s Willow and Willow doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. He hugs her.

Tomorrow, Anna tells Valentin, shut up or give up; Martin says, everybody’s luck runs out; Sasha asks Willow if she’s refusing the transplant; and Sonny says, as long as there’s life, there’s always hope.

Below Deck

Camille and Alissa argue within the guests’ hearing range, and in Captain Sandy’s interview, she says, screaming at the top of their lungs on charter is not okay. She tells them to stop, but they continue with you-no-you squabble. Fraser asks Hayley, what happened? and she says, the girls are shouting at each other. Camille calls Alissa a bully, and Alissa says she’s not taking this disrespect. The captain reminds them that they’re on charter. They’ve got to compose themselves. Camille tells Fraser that Alissa said she had an attitude, and threatened to go to the captain. Captain Sandy tells Alissa not to discuss it now; wait until after charter. They need to reset, and get through the night. In her interview, the captain says, on a scale of one to ten of how unacceptable it is for the crew to argue, it’s a ten. Holy cannoli. Captain Sandy calls Camille to the crew mess, and Camille says she’s so sorry. The captain tells her, it can never happen again. If it does, they’ll both be fired. Fraser comes to the crew mess as Camille is saying that Alissa was tarnishing her reputation. She was standing up for herself. Fraser tells Camille that she doesn’t need to be talking about this now, but the captain says, it’s not his call. In her interview, Captain Sandy says, there are three stories; their stories and the real story. She’s going to listen to both Camille and Alissa without judgement, and then make her judgement. Camille tells the captain that she’d just come back from the beach picnic, and Hayley said she had ironing. She told Hayley to just give her a second; she’d just gotten back on board. Then Alissa said she had attitude, and threatened to bring it to the captain, pointing out that Camille was on her last leg. Alissa said, everybody noticed Camille’s attitude, and everybody had a problem with her. Captain Sandy reminds Camille that, with this charter, she was giving Camille the opportunity to show her that she was in it to win it. Camille says, as far as she’s concerned, she’s done her job, and the captain asks, who started yelling first? Camille tells her that she said Alissa was childish, and that’s what started it, and the captain says, it wasn’t okay for Alissa to threaten her. Camille says, that’s when it escalated, and in Alissa’s interview, she says, Camille had the biggest attitude from day one. In Camille’s interview, she says she knows Alissa has been praying for her downfall since day one. Alissa says, she gives three chances, then she doesn’t deal with the bullsh*t. Bye. Camille says, Alissa gave her no chance, and she’s full of bullsh*t. Captain Sandy tells Camille that she requires mutual respect of co-workers. She won’t tolerate anything less. Camille promises not do it again.

The guests talk prices of Gucci, Lamborghinis, and other expensive stuff. Captain Sandy tells Alissa that she’s from the school of thought where there are three sides to every story, and asks, what happened with Camille? Alissa tells her that Hayley just let Camille know there was ironing, but Camille said she wasn’t going to listen, and got into it with her. Then Camille called her a bully, and started screaming in her face. She’s been letting Camille walk on her. The captain says, if Alissa is triggered on charter, she has to walk away. In Captain Sandy’s interview, she says, Fraser is the one who needs to worry about them. She expects her department heads to sort out problems. The interior isn’t being managed properly, or this wouldn’t have happened. She tells Alissa to reset. She thinks Camille’s been doing a great job. Alissa says, she thinks Camille has picked up the pace, but still isn’t working as hard as everyone else. The captain says, if that’s an issue, they need to talk it out. Screaming is unacceptable, and if it happens like that again, they’ll be off the boat so fast. The guests ask for snacks, and get up to dance. One of the guests leads the others in a dance routine. Fraser wonders if he should check on them, but Alissa says, the last time she checked, they were in a deep conversation. Apparently, not anymore. The captain tells Fraser not to do what he did in the crew mess to her again. He can’t do that in front of the crew. If she wants to have a conversation, she’ll have a conversation. It can’t happen again. Fraser thinks he needs to take a breather.

The guests get ready for their Bollywood Night dinner, and Captain Sandy calls Fraser to the bridge. Camille whines to Ben about Alissa threatening her job, and telling her that everyone is talking about her, notices her attitude, and has a problem with her. In Ben’s interview, he says, he’s a safe place for Camille, and a shoulder to lean on. It’s what he wants. He tells her that she’s doing a great job, and in his interview, he says, yachting is a lonely place, especially if you’re on the receiving end of a lot of bullsh*t. But it’s going to piss soon if Camille doesn’t change. The captain tells Fraser that she respects him and what he’s trying to do, but two people screaming at each other while on charter is unacceptable. In the captain’s interview, she says, Fraser is in the position where he wants to be friends and lead, but it’s impossible. You have to choose one. She tells him that he knows their personalities, so she’s leaving it with him, but she needs to know he’s aware of the seriousness of the situation. In her interview, she says, Fraser needs to step it up and figure it out. The situation isn’t being managed, and if you can’t manage, maybe you’re in a position you shouldn’t be in. In Rachel’s interview, she says, with everything that went on with last night’s dinner, she needs to smash the sh*t out of this one. They want an Asian menu with Indian canapes. Champagne is popped, and the guests toast to Bollywood. Primary Karan says, everyone is going to dance, and he’s going to judge the dancing, but he won’t be dancing himself. That does seem like a conflict of interest if you’re the judge. There’s applause for the starters, and Captain Sandy says, what a day. The food just keeps coming and it’s amazeballs. Guest Rahul, possibly the most obnoxious, says he likes seafood, but it stinks. Things slow up before the entrée appears, and Fraser tells Rachel, they’re getting impatient. Rachel says she’s feeling bad energy. Alisson says, this charter’s got everyone moody, and in Rachel’s interview, she says, it’s not McDonald’s. Three hours in, the entrée is plated, and Alissa says, they’re eating like wolves. In Alissa’s interview, she says, dinner was horrible; it wasn’t seven star service. She needs to entertain them. She gets out the hookah, and brings drinks. The guests decide it’s time to dance, and make an incredible mess; burning the table and breaking stuff. One guest tries to bring a lit sparkler in near the curtains, until he’s steered away. Rahul demands grilled cheese, and Alissa says she wants to die. Camille and Ben get busy in Ben’s bunk. It’s 4 am as Alissa makes the sandwiches. In her interview, she says she’s f***ing exhausted. The guests are still drinking as Tony gets up. Alissa tells him not to let them see him. They’ll never go sleep if they have friends. She says she feels like vomiting and crying at the same time. The guests finally go to  bed at almost 5 am, and Alissa says she hates them.

Final day of charter. Captain Sandy radios the deck crew to haul anchor; they’re ready to go. They head for Rodney Bay Marina, and the captain says, it’s a nice riding boat. You can feel the weight. The guests toast to an amazing time. They dock, and in the captain’s interview, she says, Katie is doing a phenomenal job. She has a strong exterior, but the interior needs work… for sure. She calls the crew to the aft deck for the guest departure, and in Fraser’s interview, he says he’s thrilled beyond belief that they’re leaving. They’ve been on board far too long. Karan says he was happy with everything except the beach, and primary Kamna says, they had the best crew, and made amazing memories. In Hayley’s interview, she says, goodbye, you absolute wankers. Never come back. The captain says they have to turn the boat around, and they start to do some work, but then she calls for the tip meeting. I’ve never understood why they just don’t wait to start working. It can’t take that long to count.

Captain Sandy congratulates them for completing the charter. She knows it wasn’t easy, and they worked long hours. Alissa never stopped smiling, and she saw how hard everyone worked. She tells them, if the guests ever complain, but she doesn’t, don’t worry about it. There will always be people they can’t please, and her opinion is all they have to worry about. She says, the tip isn’t a reflection of their work. It’s $20K, or $1530 each. In Alissa’s interview, she says, it’s not acceptable. She thinks they should have kept a security deposit for these f***ers. They were burning sh*t – we see the captain finding the table, and says, that’s not okaythey were breaking sh*t – we see them break a glass. If you can’t tip the crew, go on a cruise; don’t rent a yacht. Fraser says, cheers to the freaking weekend. In their cabin, Alissa tells Hayley that she needs to stay away from Camille. Camille reminds her of her dad. In Alissa’s interview, she says, her dad is controlling and toxic, and constantly bringing her down. Her upbringing shaped who she is now, but at this point she’s not letting anyone bully her. She wants Camille gone. Camille says, they’ve got to figure sh*t out, and Alissa says she could have walked away, but come at her with an attitude, and she’ll have one. Camille thinks Alissa should take responsibility for her attitude, and Alissa says, that’s why she understands and is so forgiving of Camille. Camille says she needs less forgiveness, and more apology, and in Hayley’s interview, she says, guess who’s in the middle again? All she can do is watch and hope it sorts itself out… which is not happening. Ben says, the chicks next door are arguing, and tells them to stop, but Camille says, it’s got nothing to do with him, and shoos him out. Alissa says, if you call her crazy, you’ll get extra crazy back. She sees Fraser, and gets all teary-eyed.

Ross wonders what all the noise is, and Fraser tells Alissa to just get ready. Camille tells Katie, there’s no figuring it out, and Fraser doesn’t want to deal. Katie says, the deck crew has no problems unless Ross is in the doghouse. They get in taxis, and Rachel says she’s going to write a book, but instead of Eat, Pray, Love, hers will be Eat, Drink, F***. They get to the restaurant, Rachel thanks everyone, and they toss back a shot. In Katie’s interview, she says, Ross has to show her that he’s changed tonight. Every night out, ended up the same way. We flash back to Ross getting drunk, and trying to nail anything that moves. Katie says, her boyfriend was very unfaithful, and it was a huge trigger that he changed when he drank. Words are sh*t if you don’t put action behind it. They order, and Alissa stands at the bar with Ross, smoking, as she tells him that she’s not a smoker. She asks Ross if he and Katie are solid, and Ross says he guesses. In Ross’s interview, he says, Alissa is naughty, but he has real emotions with Katie. He and Alissa are just fun. Alissa says she’s a work horse at work, and a play pony when she’s at play. I decide that I don’t like most of this crew, when the food comes. Alissa talks nonsense, and in Camille’s interview, she says, Alissa is trying to get under her skin. She has to be fake, but she’s good at it. She could be an actress in another world. Hayley and Fraser go for a smoke, and Fraser says he’s fed up with the bullsh*t, but he doesn’t know what else to do. Hayley says, he could get rid of one of them, but Fraser says, they’re both great workers. Hayley agrees, when Camille comes by, assuming they’re talking smack about her. Hayley tells her, they were saying nice things, and Camille tells them, say what you want about her, she’s got herself regardless. Fraser says he’s trying to fix it, and in Hayley’s interview, she says, don’t come at her. How much drama does Camille need? She tells Camille that she hopes they find agreement, and steers Camille toward the taxis. Alissa gets in a taxi, saying, Ben’s girlfriend is a sloppy ass bitch, and he’s obsessed with Camille’s diseased p***y. Wow. In Rachel’s interview, she says, what the f***? This group is crazy. Alissa starts to cry, and tells Fraser that Camille has been talking sh*t to other people about her.

They move on to a club, and Ross orders a round of tequila shots. Tony wisely goes back to the boat, stuffs his face, and goes to bed. Fraser tells Hayley that he wants to help make it better, but she says, they’re four charters in; it’s not getting better. Alissa tells Fraser, if they were one down, they could handle it, and in Frasers interview, he says, the captain told him to shut down what’s going on. As chief stew, he needs to fix it and make it right. He has a decision to make, and he hates it. They leave, and Rachel says, her romper has been romped out. Back at the boat, everyone goes to bed, and Camille gets in Ben’s bunk. In Tony’s interview, he says, here we go again. He’s trying not acknowledge it, but… He makes a noise like bedsprings squeaking.

In the morning, Captain Sandy tells Rachel that she was up at 6:30, and the boat was so quiet; it was great. Fraser tells Hayley that he doesn’t know how many more chances he can give. It’s hard because he’s been there. She asks if he wants to give one more, and he says, he’d been given chances when he needed them, and has hope in people. In his interview, he says, no one believed in him, so he turned things around for himself. He sees it in everyone. It’s 29 hours to charter, and Camille is surprised they have to work. Captain Sandy calls Fraser, Ross, and Rachel for the preference sheet meeting. Charter five’s primaries are Alex, who’s in real estate, and his wife Louisa. Louisa is 27 weeks pregnant, and requires extra meals. They want an around-the-world multi-course meal, all the water toys, and a beach picnic. The captain says she guarantees it won’t be like the last one. Camille asks if Ben is having fun, and says, it makes her sad that they only have three more weeks. It’s hard to stick with someone in yachting. Katie brings a bottle of champagne into the cabin, and she and Camille drink. They’re about to join Ross on the dock, when Fraser sees Camille with a drink in her hand. He asks what she’s doing, and she says she’s literally done with all her tasks. He tells her that she can’t drink on the job. It’s not a holiday. In his interview, he says, seeing Camille with a pint sized glass of champagne tells him she has no care or willingness to do the job. Rachel says, Camille has been drinking pretty much all day.

Rachel tells Fraser, it’s a very Camille thing to do, and Fraser says, effing hell. In Fraser’s interview, he says, they have to work. Tomorrow’s the charter. It’s not a holiday. Camille sits on the dock with Ross, and Fraser radios, asking her location. She says she’s on the aft deck, and Ross tells her, run. Fraser sees her jetting up the plank, and says, this isn’t the aft deck; it’s outside. He tells her that the cabins aren’t done, but she insists she did her jobs, and helped the girls do theirs. He shows her pictures on his phone of things not done, and in his interview, he says, Camille has an excuse for everything. He doesn’t know if that’s a good sign… He knows it’s not. He points out that she was also drinking the guest champagne, and says in his interview that he likes giving chances, but if you can’t play a role in supporting the bigger picture, you have no role on this yacht. Camille and Katie drink in the cabin, and in Fraser’s interview, he says he can’t get a wink of sleep. He’s terrified he’ll make the wrong decision. He loves Camille, but she’s not doing her job. What does he do with that?

In the morning, Fraser hints to Hayley and Alissa that he might be working on a new schedule. He asks to speak to Captain Sandy, and Hayley wonders if this is actually happening. Alissa tells her, it’s done. It sounds like they’re talking about an execution. Fraser tells the captain, as much as he adores Camille as a person, last night was his final straw. Hayley asks Alissa if she thinks they’ll manage, and Alissa says she’ll manage regardless. Captain Sandy says, Camille is the common denominator in the problems. She has a great personality, but they have to do what’s best for the boat. In her interview, she says she’s proud of Fraser. He took charge. It’s another growing experience, and she’s here to support that.

Three and a half hours to charter. Captain Sandy calls Camille to the bridge, and Fraser says, this is awful. Alissa says her stomach hurts, and Hayley says, Camille’s about to lose her job; it’s harsh. Camille goes to the bridge, and the captain says, this isn’t easy for her. Camille says, oh my God, no, and Captain Sandy says she’s letting Camille go this morning. Camille looks like a deer in headlights.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

At the gym, Drew tells Michael that his shares were in a trust for Scout, and Sam signed the proxy over to Valentin. So assuming he can figure all that out… Michael says he’d have to remove the proverbial gloves, and get in a bare-knuckle brawl with the family. Drew says, been there, done that? and Michael says, he’d hoped for a knockout in the hearing, but Nina walked away without a scratch. The way she keeps coming between his mom and dad, this fight isn’t going to end any time soon.

In her office, Nina flashes back to saying Carly is going to drive Sonny away for good, and if Sonny comes to her, she’s definitely not going to send him away. Britt knocks at the door, and asks if it’s a bad time.

Carly tells Donna and Avery that she knows she’s been working a lot, but she’s going to be there every morning to take them to school, and every night to put them to bed. Sonny says, there’s no school today, so Laura is going to take them sledding. Avery asks if Carly can come, and Carly says she wishes she could, but she has so much work to do. She’s working all day, and all night. Sonny says he knows they’re disappointed, but they’ve just got to make the best of things. So why don’t they find Pilar? Carly tells them not to forget their mittens, and they go upstairs. Sonny says, Pilar always makes sure they have their mittens, and Carly says she’s just looking out for their girls. He says, they’d be a lot happier if she stayed home. So would he.

At the Savoy, Laura says she’s sorry she missed Curtis on New Year’s. She wanted to ring in the New Year with him, and pray for a better year. He says he’s sorry he missed her, but 2022 is off to a great start. She says she thinks she knows that look. Did he ring in the New Year with Portia? He says, and then some, and she laughs. He says, enough about him; what about her? She says she got tired of hiding, and he asks if that means Cyrus is no longer a threat. She says, it means she went to pay a visit to him in person before she came home, and he asks what Cyrus had to say. She tells him to brace himself. He claims he found religion. He says, Cyrus Renault is holy. So he found religion? She says, or seen the light; whatever version Curtis prefers. He says, pardon him if he finds it hard to believe, when he can still feel the scar where the man shot him, and she says she’s pretty skeptical too. Like everything Cyrus does, it’s sort of bigger than life and kind of flashy. He asks what she thinks Cyrus’s angle is. Is he trying to gain sympathy, or is he trying to gain the ear of some powerful person who will fall for it? She says she’s not sure; time will tell. He says, if recent events have taught him anything, it’s that time doesn’t change people like that. It only brings out the worst in them. She says, they’re not talking about Cyrus anymore, are they?

In an examining room, Marshall tells Epiphany that he doesn’t need an x-ray, but she says, he came to the hospital. It’s her job to be thorough. He’s going to sit tight and she’s going to schedule things with radiology. She drops his chart, and he picks it up and hands it to her. She asks if that’s not his injured wrist, and he says, maybe it’s the other one. She says, Mr. Ashford… and he asks her to call him Marshall. She says, Mr. Ashford. Her break’s almost over, and she has legitimate patients to see who have real issues, so if he doesn’t mind… He says, okay, he’s busted. His wrists are fine. He was just trying to get her attention. He hasn’t seen her since he asked her to join his band, after they teamed up and serenaded the GH patients for Christmas. She says she remembers, but he says she didn’t give him an answer one way or the other, which is better than a cold, hard pass, but he’s texted her since and no response. So it begs the question, is she not interested in his music, or him?

Michael says he wants to talk about his parents rocky marriage about as much as Drew wants to talk about ELQ. Drew says, fair enough, and Michael asks how it’s going with Drew’s little girl; they’re reunited again. Drew says, it’s the best thing in the whole world. It blew him away how much she’s grown. She was a little shy at first, but every time they get together, it gets better and better. It’s like they’re building a vocabulary of their common experience; it’s so in the moment. Michael asks if Drew is building a vocabulary with Sam, since he’s clearly out of the loop, and Drew says, she’s moved on. He doesn’t blame her; Michael’s brother Dante is a great guy. Michael says, he’s one of the best, but so is Drew. Drew says, you know what they say about nice guys, but Michael says, that’s not necessarily true. They don’t always finish last. Maybe he could help Drew prove it.

Nina says she doubts Britt is just there to check up on her, but Britt says, they made a pact at Nathan’s grave to always support each other. She takes that very seriously, and she heard what happened at Nina’s hearing; quite the bombshell. Nina says, as Britt can see, she walked away without a scratch, but Britt says, take it from a doctor; some scratches only show up on the inside. Nina takes it Britt and her mother have been talking about this. Let her guess. Obrecht thinks she’s busy licking her wounds, but she can assure Britt… Britt says, Nina is a big girl. She knows Nina can handle it. Nina thanks Britt for not seeing her as a victim, and Britt says, no way. It sounds to her like Nina left the hearing with her head held high, and Carly’s head was left spinning. What about Sonny? Nina says, what about him? and Britt says, from what she hears, the two of them are in an interesting place. Nina says, let’s cut to the chase. What does Britt want? Britt says she has a friend who’s in a bit of a sticky situation, and he has an aunt who’s even more lethal than her mother. She called in a favor that her friend delivered, and now he’s afraid she’s going to hold it over his head. Nina says, no offense, but Britt isn’t known to have a ton of friends. Are they talking about Brad Cooper? Britt says, yes, and he needs help; the kind of help Sonny Corinthos can deliver. Nina says, and Britt wants her to get him to deliver it.

Sonny says he’s not going to lie to Carly. It’s only been one night, and he misses her. She says she misses him too, and he asks why they’re wasting every precious moment staying apart. She called his bluff, and went to the MetroCourt, and proved her point. So let’s figure out what we need to move forward. She says she’s not trying to prove a point, and she’s not trying to call his bluff. She meant what she said. She needs some time to herself. She needs to wrap her head around what came out at that hearing. And not just Willow’s testimony. He admitted he had feelings for Nina. He says, they can’t get through that if they’re sleeping in separate beds or avoiding each other instead of working this out. She says she was tagged in an email from the pharmacy. Did he refill his prescription? He sighs, and says, for a second there, he thought she didn’t care, and she says, did he? He flashes back to throwing the pill bottle across the kitchen, and he says he’s on it; don’t try to change the subject. He’s going to give her the time she wants, but he’s not giving up on their marriage. Is she?

Curtis says, while Laura was away at the safe house, being protected from Cyrus, his life has been a lot less eventful. Which is why he traded his P.I. license for a liquor license, which she framed and hand delivered. Now he’s just a hard-working club owner, chasing down a million minute details. She asks why she feels like he left out a story or two in his very uneventful life. She’s kept in touch with Jordan. She’s recuperating, and told her that things are going very well with him and Portia. And Doc has given her glowing reviews about how TJ is excelling at the hospital. So did somebody else get under his skin? He says she does know him, and she says she can tell he’s trying to tough something out, and she knows he can handle anything, but maybe she can help if he lets her.

Epiphany says she and Marshall did make some beautiful music on Christmas, but when she made the mistake of thinking he had some personal interest in her, he told her that he wasn’t in the market for a social life. He says, so it’s not the music; it’s him. She says, he might be on wiz on that clarinet, but he’s just like every other man she’s met in her life. He thinks it’s all about him. There was somebody else who thought it was all about him too, and he took her job from her. Compared to him, Marshall’s a saint, but she got her job back, and that’s all that matters. He says, understood, but he began to think she was mad at him because he mistakenly called her doctor.

Michael tells Drew, he feels like a placeholder at Aurora. He took the job because Sam asked him to, and it gave him a place to land when he was out as CEO at ELQ. Drew says, Sam told him that Michael is doing an incredible job. The profits are up at Aurora, and Michael is making it respected throughout the industry. Michael says, thanks, but Drew set the standard. He’s just doing his best to maintain it. Aurora is Drew’s vision – always has been, always will be. He’s more than willing to step aside and let Drew take his rightful place behind the desk, and start calling the shots again. If that’s what Drew wants.

Britt tells Nina, Brad’s done some terrible things, but he’s paid for them. Not only by doing his time in Pentenville; he lost his husband and his son. His aunt came to him with a chance for parole and he took it. Nina asks what exactly she asked him to do, and Britt says, did she ask Nina for a play-by-play of her time in Nixon Falls with Sonny? Nina says she guesses Britt thinks she knows enough to ask her for a favor. What does she want Sonny to do? Britt says, Sonny can be very persuasive. If he were to intercede on Brad’s behalf… Nina says, hold on. Sonny hates Brad. Brad kept Michael away from his son for a year. Sonny’s never going to forget that. Britt says, not even for Nina? and Nina walks into the reception area. Following her, Britt says, according to the testimony at Nina’s hearing, she has pull with Sonny. Nina says, it doesn’t matter what was said at the hearing. All that matters is, Sonny loves Carly. Nothing else matters. Britt says, not even how Sonny feels about Nina, or Nina feels about him?

Carly tells Sonny not to force her to make decisions about their marriage on her timetable, but he says, he’s not forcing her to do anything. As if he ever could. But she’s not going to stop him from telling her about how he feels and what he wants, and what he wants is their marriage, her, their family. That’s what happened when he wasn’t himself. It wasn’t the medication; it was the memories that brought him back to her, and brought him back to their kids. If she doesn’t trust how he feels about her – if she can’t cross that bridge – trust how she feels about him. That’s going to tell her all she needs to know. Carly says she knows how she feels about him. Everything would be so much easier if she didn’t. He says, it’s never been easy with them; that’s just the way it is. It’s not who they are, but in the end, it’s always good. The door opens, and Brick comes in. He says he loves those guards. They wave him in like he’s one of the family… On the other hand, maybe they shouldn’t have called him up. He feels like he walked into the middle of something.

Laura says, so this guy shows up, claims to be Curtis’s father who died decades ago? Wow. She can see why he’s skeptical. Just because the guy has a few details and photos doesn’t necessarily mean he’s who he claims to be. Curtis says he’s a trained P.I.; he’s trained to be skeptical. Pictures can be doctored, stories can be invented. He was sure this mystery man was up to no good. Then Aunt Stella confirmed it. Marshall Ashford is the man who abandoned them all those years ago, and let them believe he was dead. Now this man comes back to Port Charles, and wants to reconnect, and wants to start fresh. TJ, God bless him, he’s all for it. He was ready to accept Marshall as his grandpa from the jump. She says, he’s never been hurt by this man. What about Curtis? Is he ready accept his father back in his life?

Epiphany asks if Marshall is saying there’s something wrong with being a nurse, but he says, not at all. He thinks it’s a noble profession. He’s sorry if he touched a nerve by assuming she wanted an MD after her name. She says, if she overreacted, it’s because there was a time she did have dreams about being a doctor. When she was in high school, she used to haunt the library, pouring over the Gray’s Anatomythe book, not the TV series. She even took an after school job with a vet, so she could assist her when the vet was setting a broken bone for a cat, or stitching up a dog. He says, that takes real dedication. So what happened? Why didn’t she follow her dream?

Drew tells Michael, he started Aurora Media with Sam. It was more than a company for them. It was so they could break free from a life of uncertainty and danger, for the family they wanted to create. Michael says, and a life working closely with his dad, and Drew says he realizes when he stepped away, he probably dampened his friendship with Sonny. Sometimes he wonders if it was the right thing. Michael tells him not to second guess himself. He was right to distance himself from Michael’s father.

Nina tells Britt that she cares about Sonny way too much to get in between him and Carly. Britt says, that didn’t stop her in Nixon Falls, and Nina says, Nixon Falls was a fantasy. Now she’s back here in reality, and Sonny’s reality is at home with his wife and his children, both the older ones and the two little girls at his home. She doesn’t want to be the cliché, the heartless homewrecker. Britt says she understands, but is Nina sure there’s still a home left to wreck?

Carly hugs Brick, and says, he is family. He’s always welcome and never an interruption. He says, what that really means is, he stepped in it, didn’t he? but Sonny says, when Carly gives you a pass, you take it. Brick says, Sonny talked him into it, and hugs Carly again. She says, it’s good to see him, but she has a feeling they need to talk business, and she needs to get to the hotel. Tell the girls that she’ll be home later tonight to see them. Sonny says he’ll see her then, and she leaves. Brick says, she’s gone now; it’s just the two of them. What’s going on with him and Carly?

Curtis tells Laura, when Marshall first came here, he wanted to forget the past and start over. Curtis made it abundantly clear that was not okay. When they started talking, Marshall said he got mixed up in some bad business; got on the wrong side of some seriously dangerous people. Not long after that, he went off the radar. She says she can relate to that, and he says he thought she might. She says, if his situation was anything like with her, he had no choice. Stay with the family, put the family at risk; stay underground and the family is safe. He says, that’s exactly what Marshall told him, and she says, so if Marshall’s story is true, Curtis has to face something she’s not sure he’s willing to accept. No matter how much his father hurt him, he did it out of love.

Epiphany tells Marshall, why didn’t she become a doctor? It’s a long story, and her break’s almost over. He says, she’s still got a few minutes. She can skip the lollypop or whatever she rewards her patients with, and just tell him, what happened that she didn’t become Epiphany Johnson, MD? She says, life happened, and he says, meaning? She says, you dream big, work hard, and you learn sometimes things don’t go the way you planned them to. He says, been there for sure, but it’s not too late for him. She tells him, says him, and he says, he wouldn’t have moved to Port Charles if he didn’t believe that. And if it’s not too late for him, it’s not too late for her.

Drew says he thought Michael was devoted to his father. He knows Michael didn’t go into the business, and took the corporate route, but he didn’t think Michael was ashamed to be a Corinthos. Michael says, it’s not that; he’s not ashamed of his last name. It’s just that he and his dad have had their differences in the past… and in the present. Drew asks, how so? and Michael says, his dad defended Nina in court, despite all the harm she did to him and their entire family, especially his mother. Drew says he saw Carly last night at the MetroCourt; she seemed pretty upset, but Michael knows his mom. If she’s not okay now, she’ll find a way to be okay very soon.

At the MetroCourt, Carly says, sorry to keep Diane waiting, but Diane says, that’s okay; she’s on her third mimosa. Carly says, really? but Diane says, just coffee. Carly sits with her, and Diane asks if someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Carly says, wrong side, wrong bed, and Diane asks whose bed they’re talking about. Carly says, her bed, but not at her house; she’s staying in the hotel. Diane tells her, before she says another word, did Carly ask to speak to her as her friend or attorney? Carly says, friend. She’s sure Diane heard all the dirty laundry that came out at Nina’s hearing, and Diane says she got the general gist; she’s so sorry. Carly says, it’s not like she stopped loving Sonny, and she adores the girls, but is staying in a broken marriage good for Donna and Avery? Is love enough? Diane says, in her vast experience, she’s found it takes more than two people to break up a marriage. Carly says, so Diane knows what she’s up against, and Diane says, Sonny and Nina had a relationship in Nixon Falls, and Sonny is continuing to protect Nina in Port Charles. Carly says, that’s why she’s staying at the hotel. She needs some space to clear her head, figure out what her options are, what’s best for the girls, and if things start going south… Diane says she’s going to stop Carly there.

Sonny tells Brick, this is about marriage; something Brick knows little about. Brick says, fair enough, but he does know something about trouble, and he knows Sonny’s got it. And he’s not talking about Sonny’s marriage. One of his suppliers on the left coast is out of business, permanently. His going out of business sale was brought on by a brand new player, a complete unknown. Sonny says, players come and go, and Brick asks if Sonny is listening to him. This dude just took out one of Sonny’s players. That’s like waving a red flag in front of el toro, even from 2000 miles away. Sonny asks if this player has a name, and Brick says, everybody’s got a name; he’s working on it. Sonny says, Cyrus made noise about someone filling the power vacuum he left in the west, and Brick says, it could be part of the same party. Sonny says, he’ll ask around. He makes an aggressive move, then rubs his forehead, saying, he’s got a lot on his mind. Brick says, pardon him for asking, but such as? Sonny shakes his head, and Brick says, okay. He was just being a friend. He’s going to say it for Sonny, whether he wants to hear it or not. One man, two women; it’s one too many.

Nina tells Britt, of course (🍷) there’s still a home to wreck; two little girls are living in it. Britt asks how Nina can be so sure, and Nina says, Carly was standing at the same spot Britt is two days ago. Britt says, Carly came here looking for Nina? She hopes Nina had on body armor. What happened? Nina says, before Carly slapped her across the face? and Britt says, ouch. Nina says, Britt can guess what Carly had to say. She blames Nina for what Willow said on the witness stand, and blames her for what Sonny confirmed on the witness stand, even though she and Sonny never… Britt says, they might have. And they still might, if Carly keeps driving him into Nina’s arms. Is that what earned Nina the slap? Nina says, she told Carly that if Sonny showed up on her doorstep again, she woudn’t say no. Britt says, from what she’s been hearing, Sonny didn’t come back to a marriage. Sounds more like a prison with two unhappy people locked inside. Doesn’t Nina think she might be doing Sonny, and Carly, a favor if she gave him the key?

Curtis asks Laura, if Marshall was really trying to protect his family by dropping out of sight, why risk it now? She says, that’s an excellent question, and she’s sure Curtis asked it. What did he say? Curtis says, it was more about what he didn’t say. He said the danger is less, but he couldn’t, or wouldn’t, give proof to back it up. He warned Curtis against digging into his past. He said the only way to keep Aunt Stella and TJ safe was to let things be. She says, and he might be right about that, but Curtis says, or he might be blowing smoke. He doesn’t know what to believe, or if this man is even telling the truth.

Marshall says Epiphany can be anything she sets her mind to, and she says, like becoming a doctor? He tells her, he didn’t say it would be easy. She can start small; baby steps. She says, by joining his band? and they laugh. He says, warmer, but he was thinking about something a little easier, like dinner for two. She says, she thought he said he wasn’t into having a social life, and he says, he misspoke. He’s new in town, and he’s still putting one toe in the water, and the water is brutal in western New York this time of year. What does she say? Can they start over?

Drew says, it’s the second time he ran into Michael’s mom; the first time was on the footbridge. He had the distinct feeing he was not who she wanted to see. Not that she blames him for Jason’s death, it’s just, he’s still alive. Michael says, and Jason’s not, and Drew says, last night seemed different. She really needed someone to talk to, and he just happened to be there. If she could confide in him, of all people, it made him that maybe she’s… Michael says, desperate? and Drew laughs, saying, thanks. That’s good for his ego. Michael says, he meant he’s glad Drew was there for his mom. Drew says, him too.

Carly says she doesn’t understand. She thought she could tell Diane anything. Diane says, of course (🍷) she can, and trust her, she’s heard everything. As Carly’s friend, she’d never judge her or Sonny, but if they’re talking about a potential separation and possible divorce, just as Carly has her on retainer, Sonny has her on retainer. She can’t represent one of them without recusing herself of the other. Carly says she’s sorry. She didn’t mean to put Diane in an awkward position. Diane says, welcome to the wonderful world of domestic law. Whatever decision Carly makes, it will be one she doesn’t make lightly. Carly has to be honest with herself. Is this a step she wants to take?

Brick says he knows his way out, but Sonny says he guesses it’s public knowledge, everything that came out during the hearing. Brick says, people talk; it’s his business to listen. Unless of course (🍷), Sonny only values his electronics expertise, and not his friendship. Sonny says, Brick knows that’s not true. He appreciates everything Brick does, and appreciates Brick coming to him with this threat on the west coast. He has to keep his eyes open, right? Brick says he does, and Sonny says, as far as what Brick walked in on… Brick says he knows Sonny misses Jason a lot. He misses Jason too. Not that anyone could replace Jason in Sonny’s business or his life, he’s just saying, if there’s anything he can do, or any way he can help, he’s there for Sonny. Sonny says he appreciates that. This nameless threat is child’s play compared to what he and Carly are going through. It’s like they’re going through a maze and they’re lost. Brick suggests he drop some breadcrumbs and leave a trail, but Sonny says, they have to work this one out for themselves.

Nina tells Britt, she’s not going to take advantage of what may or may not be happening in Sonny’s home, and Britt says, it’s so obvious what Nina wants. Why doesn’t she just go for it? Nina asks why she’s getting the feeling there’s something more to this than Britt encouraging her to follow her heart? What’s in it for Britt? Britt says, fine. She thought Nina wanted an objective opinion; God forbid a friend, but from now on, Nina can make her own mistakes. She gets up, and Nina says, wait. She’s a little tired of being the other woman without the benefits. Britt says, yes; now they’re talking. The question is, what does Nina want to do about it?

Curtis says he’s sorry to lay all his troubles on Laura, but she says she didn’t just come home to snip ribbons in the strip mall. She wanted to see the people she loves, and hopes he knows he’s one of them. He thanks her, and says, balancing the budget of Port Charles has got to be simpler than unraveling the mystery that is Marshall Ashford. She says she thinks she can solve one mystery for him, and he asks, what’s that? She says, despite Curtis’s doubts and questions, she thinks he does want to have a relationship with his father. Maybe even more than his father wants one with him. He thanks her for her insights, and hugs her. She tells him to take care of himself and let her know how it goes, and she leaves.

Epiphany tells Marshall that her break’s over; she has work to do. He says, understood, and starts to leave. She says she has an idea, and he says, he’s listening. She asks how he feels about prime rib, grilled to perfection, and he says, medium rare? She says, mm-hm, and he says, with blue cheese? She says, mm-hm, If he’s serious about dinner, her shift ends at six. The PC Grill has some of the best food around, and a fantastic wine list. He says, that sounds great, and maybe she can finish that long story of hers. She says, we’ll see, and he says, okay then. He’s looking forward. She says, her too, and he leaves.

Drew tells Michael, for what it’s worth(🍷), when he left Carly last night, he’s pretty sure he saw that spark back in her eye. Michael’s mom might be down, but she’s not out. Michael says he’s glad to hear it. Honestly, it’s getting harder for his mom and dad to put the pieces back together again. Drew says, all Michael can do is trust their love for each other is stronger than anything, or anyone, that comes between them. Michael says, he never used to doubt that, but now… Drew says, Michael knows he can’t fix this for them; that’s their job. All he can do is be there if they need him. The two of them leave the gym.

Carly tells Diane that she doesn’t know what she’s prepared to do, and Diane asks if that doesn’t speak volumes. If Carly was ready to pull the plug on her marriage to Sonny, they’d be sitting there as attorney and client, not two girlfriends. Carly says, maybe, and Diane says, perhaps Carly wants to fight for her marriage more than she realizes. Call her if she needs to talk – Diane gets up – as client or as a friend. She squeezes Carly’s shoulder, and leaves.

Nina tells Britt, there’s nothing for her to do, as long as Sonny, Carly, and their children are living under the same roof. She’s just an outsider, looking in, and she’s not going to break up their family. As far as Brad is concerned, she’s in no position to ask Sonny for any favors. Britt says, she won’t take no for an answer. So if Nina can’t or won’t reach out to Sonny on Brad’s behalf, she’ll do it herself. I don’t know why she doesn’t, since Sonny expressed a fondness for her after Jason died. And I use the term died loosely.

Sonny tells Brick, if he hears any more chatter about Mr. Nobody, let him know. Brick says he’s got it. In the meantime, he’s in town for the next few days. How about if they go out to dinner, all three of them; him, Sonny, and Carly. Sonny says he’d love to, but he thinks Carly is probably busy at the MetroCourt. Sonny’s phone rings, and Brick asks if he needs to take that. It stops ringing, and Sonny says, I guess not.

Nina tells Britt, hang up the phone, but Britt says, he picked up. Hey, Sonny. Avery says her daddy isn’t here, and Mama Carly isn’t here either. Britt says, okay, never mind, and thanks Avery. Nina asks what Avery said, and Britt tells her that she’s not entirely sure, but it sure sounded like Carly moved out of the house.

Wow. Even though she’s correct, that’s a big leap from Avery saying Carly’s not there to her having moved out.

Tomorrow, Portia tells Terry, maybe Camelot is closer than she thinks; Epiphany tells Marshall that she doesn’t want to hear any arguments; and Maxie says, she’s not going back to that cabin.

Below Deck

When we last left, Fraser was comforting Rayna who misconstrued Eddie and the captain’s attempt to make her feel better about things.

In Rayna’s interview, she said, she felt alone, and couldn’t act happy when her feelings were played with like a puppet. Eddie tried to get Rayna to tell him what the problem was, but she said she just needed a minute. In Heather’s interview, she said they weren’t even halfway through the charter, and still had a beach picnic and vow renewal. She was relieved Kaylee was coming to save the day. Guest Melissa got water in her ear, and stayed in her room, so Heather delivered breakfast to her. Fraser asked Wes what was up with Rayna, and Fraser said, Rayna wasn’t fine, but she would be. Fraser relayed that to Heather, adding that he thought it was code for, nothing’s okay on deck. Eddie questioned Rayna again about what had happened, and she brought up Heather having used the n-word. She told Eddie that Heather had apologized, but it didn’t feel right. She said, the first time she’d told him, Eddie said it shouldn’t bother her, which confused Eddie, since that wasn’t what he said. He asked what had happened this morning, but Rayna was like, later. Rachel told primary Tony that she was making Japanese for dinner, and he said it was one of his favorite places in the world. Captain Lee told Eddie that Rayna had sounded like someone in distress, and asked if he found out what the problem was. Eddie told him about Heather using the n-word, and said Heather hadn’t directed it at Rayna, but apologized. In his interview, the captain said he personally found the word offensive, and couldn’t think of any context where it would be okay. Eddie told Captain Lee it had been about something else this morning, but Rayna didn’t want to talk about it. The captain said they had to get to the bottom of it.

Eddie took Wes, Fraser, and Rayna to set up for the picnic. Still not feeling well, Melissa decided to stay behind with husband Pete. Fraser told Rayna that he was hoping the new stew would do the things he hated, like laundry. From the beach, they saw the small boat bringing Kaylee to the yacht, and in Fraser’s interview, he said he felt betrayed. He’d earned his place with Heather, and they worked well together. He was still the best bitch on the boat.

Shitten You Not Bay. In Kaylee’s interview, she said she was coming in mid-charter, and had no idea what she was coming into. She and Heather had been roommates on the last boat, and were good friends. Heather had the spotlight, and Kaylee was in the background, where she still got light, and she was okay with that. The guests played cornhole on the beach, while Captain Lee went over the vows they’d be saying. In his interview, he said he didn’t know why anyone needed a vow renewal, but he’d been volunteered. He guessed he was good with it – said no one ever. Jake chatted with Kaylee in the crew mess, and when the guests came back, they gave her a big woohoo. Kaylee introduced herself as she handed out warm towels. Tony and wife Porcha went off on the jet skis, and Fraser was given a break. In his interview, he said he was happy to hear the word break, and when he came back, Kaylee could do laundry while he tended bar.

Eddie tried to pin down Rayna again, and told her, what Heather said was uncalled for, and he had her back. Rayna said, it bothered her more that he’d shrugged it off, but he said if he’d heard that happen, he would have shut it down; it was not okay in any way, shape, or form. He wondered if it could be worked out with Heather, but got a hard no. Rayna said she could work with Heather without being friends, and Eddie said if there was anything he could do to make Rayna more comfortable, let him know.

Heather introduced Kaylee around, and in Rachel’s interview, she was excited about the Japanese dinner. In Japan, they didn’t reinvent the wheel; they just perfected it. She told us, every finite detail had to come to the table perfectly, and she may or may not be a control freak. Captain Lee joined the guests for dinner, wearing his dress uniform, and Tony asked for permission to be seated. Jake flirted with Kaylee, but in her interview, she said she was okay with being single. Tony told the captain that the trip was exceeding expectation. He said guest Darion was the new cornhole king, and sometimes you had to let people win. Tony pronounced the first course of seaweed salad amazing, and it looked amazing. The next course was a delicious-looking miso soup, but Melissa said her ear was painful when she chewed. Poached egg with caviar was next, followed by a rice cake, but not the kind of dry desperation snack you get in the grocery store; a real cake made of rice. The captain said he’d never had the same meal twice from Rachel, and I thought, unlike Chef Leon, who made beef cheeks every chance he got. Melissa ended up leaving the table, and in Heather’s interview, she said it was a huge bummer. It was a situation she couldn’t control, but it could still be a reason they lost tip money. There was an ice cream concoction for dessert, and in Rachel’s interview, she said, dear God. Thirty thousand tip, here we come. I think this is my favorite meal since I’ve been vicariously cruising with them.

It was time for the vow renewal, and Heather made up a reason to get the wives off the deck for a moment, so it was a surprise when everything was in place. Captain Lee told the couples, in these tumultuous, sometimes frightening times, they had each other. They were there to celebrate their bonds with each other, and the vows they’d taken. The captain then gave a renewal spin to the traditional vows, ending with, as I continue life with you, to which the couples said, I do. The crew applauded, and in Rayna’s interview, she said the way the men looked at their wives was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen. She loved Black love, and it was something people her age needed to see. Agreed. Afterward, Captain Lee asked Eddie about Rayna, and Eddie said he felt deflated after they talked. It seemed her main issue was with him. She was accusing him of brushing off her concerns. We flashed back to Rayna waking Eddie up to tell him about Heather, and him talking to her for a while. He did tell her to try and separate personal stuff from work, but it wasn’t like he brushed it off. The captain told Eddie that he wanted Rayna to be comfortable, but as long as she was doing her job, that was all he cared about. I don’t think he meant it as bad as it sounded. It was more like, they’d tried several t times to ask her what was wrong, and there was nothing more they could do.

Rachel’s departure day breakfast special was a seafood omelet with caviar, or chicken and waffles. Yes please! In Fraser’s interview, he said so far, so good with Kaylee, but his first impressions were mostly incorrect. So he was hoping for the best. The captain radioed for the crew to go to the main deck in their whites. The guests said goodbye, and guest Bonnie gave Rachel a Navy service pin as a thank you. In Rachel’s interview, she said they weren’t given out often, and it meant a great deal to her. Tony said he searched for superlatives, but couldn’t come up with anything – they were that good. They loved the crew. He asked for permission to go ashore. I loved the whole respect thing Tony gave the captain. When the guests were gone, the crew changed, and started turning over the boat.

Fraser told Heather and Kaylee about getting sprayed in the face with a bidet, and in his interview, he said, no one uses them, ever. It was time for the tip meeting, and Captain Lee said they’d gotten a good dose of military personnel, and rose to the occasion, taking pride in their work. The tip was $25K, or $2270 each. Since Kaylee got to partake of that share – the captain saying she was appreciated – I’m sure that steamed the rest of the crew, although no one made a peep. The captain told them to work hard until 5, and they’d be leaving the dock at 11 am. Another one bites the dust. Heather said, one more, and Kaylee did laundry. The crew got ready to go out.

On the way to the restaurant, Rayna told Fraser that she liked Kaylee, but wasn’t happy to be out money. Still, not an awful complaint. Fraser said Kaylee genuinely helped, and she was great. At the table, he raised his glass, welcomed Kaylee, and toasted to a successful trip. Rachel thanked Rayna for her help in the galley, and everyone else who helped. Rayna said cooking excited her, and she felt it was time she needed to figure things out. Rachel suggested she go to the country to study. In Rayna’s interview, she said it was something she’d like to take seriously in the future. Eddie said Rayna was a kickass deckhand, but she shined in the galley. It’s where she was laser focused. Rayna noticed Jake wearing a colorful thong under his pants, and he danced around with his pants lowered. Rayna said she wished she had that much confidence. Fraser went to sit with Heather and Kaylee, and said, when he heard Kaylee was coming, he thought his efforts were void. She took the initiative and respected him, and he appreciated it. In his interview, he said he had a different perspective now. He was being an immature, insecure brat. He said he appreciated Kaylee, and Heather said that meant the world to her. On their way back, Jake took off his shirt, and jumped into the pool in the restaurant courtyard, which I don’t think was for swimming. Fraser said he wasn’t sharing a back seat with Jake.

Back at the boat, Wes ate chips, lying on a crew mess bench, and dropping them into his mouth. Eddie tried to fix a bidet, and Jake and Fraser had another drink on deck. Jake said Fraser would be the one he stayed friends with after the season, and in his interview, he said, as different as they were, he and Jake were friends for life.

Next time, primary Jennifer is a real estate entrepreneur who wants the trip of a lifetime; the guests are Hamilton fans; Heather is grumpy and over people being grumpy and over it; a guest whines for champagne; Captain Lee says, the crew better either get their heads out of their asses, or he’ll eat their asses; and something else falls off the boat.

🏖 Summer House is back again. Didn’t we just leave these awful people? They’re worse than a bad penny. Or a toxic boomerang. The main takeaway points were as follows. Carl was getting his act together, doing things like going to AA meetings. He said he needed to be more serene, but I failed to see how being on this show, or dating Lindsay, of all people, was going to help with that. Kyle’s motto this season was, go big or go home, but it looked like the only big thing will be his out-of-control drinking. Paige had dated Andrea after Vermont’s Winter House, but he asked her to stop seeing other people, and she didn’t want to give up being single. At the time of filming, she’d been with Craig (Southern Charm) for two months, but they weren’t exclusive, and free to do what they wanted. We also found out that Lindsay had been pregnant by Carl, but lost the baby. It didn’t take long for Kyle to make a drunken ass of himself, and Amanda to be pissed off. Word on the street had it, if the wedding was called off, he’d have to pay back her parents. My only question is, why are 50 45 40 35 year olds acting like they’re twenty, and have never been out of the house? Otherwise known as the cast of The Real World.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Phyllis tells Sonny, welcome to the Tan-O, the best place town. Not that there’s much competition. Sonny says he likes it, and she says she thought he would. She made him an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow, a specialist in memory loss, but for now he needs a warm place to stay, and some friendly faces. He says he appreciates her kindness, but he’s got no money. She says she covered him at the clinic, and as for this place, the bartender has a soft spot for her; he’s her husband. Sonny laughs, and Phyllis introduces her husband Lenny. Lenny tells Sonny not to let the door hit him on his way out.

Tracy sees Finn, and says, hello stranger, but Finn says he’s not the stranger. He’s been there the whole time. She’s the one who skipped town on him. She says she’s back, and taking him to dinner, and he says he’d love that, but… She says she has the feeling a paltry excuse is coming. Finn says he’s monitoring a critical patient. He heard she’s been busy since she got back, and she asks who’s been telling tales about her. He says, Alexis.

Alexis looks over Julian’s photos again.

Sam tells Olivia, if Alexis doesn’t remember disarming the alarm, maybe it’s possible they didn’t come to the house. Olivia says she realizes she dragged Sam there to listen to Alexis’s story, and Sam asks if Olivia is having second thoughts. Olivia says she doesn’t want to believe that Tracy deliberately lied, and Sam says, then quit. Olivia says, without knowing the truth? and Sam tells her, then she has to be willing to follow where it leads, even if it’s to her own family.

Chase sits at the MetroCourt bar, and Michael asks if the seat next to him is taken. Chase says be his guest, and Michael tells the bartender, he’ll have what Chase is having.

Willow opens the door to Sasha, and says she wasn’t sure Sasha would come. Sasha says, to be honest, she thought about bailing a thousand times, and Willow says, since they’re being honest, part of her wished Sasha would. She asks what convinced Sasha to show up, and Sasha says she tallied the reasons to stay away, and avoid what her counselor calls emotional complications. That took time. On the other side of the ledger, she could only find one reason to come. Willow says, and that was? Sasha tells Willow that she didn’t have anything better to do.

At Pozzulo’s, Cyrus asks, how about that nightcap? and Brick says, they have hemlock and arsenic. Name his poison. Cyrus laughs, and says it’s good to see Brick again, and Jason asks what he wants. Cyrus says he wants to celebrate the life of their fallen comrade. His deepest condolences to both of them about Sonny. In this moment, he’d like nothing more than to set their differences aside – and there are many – and raise a glass to their friend. Brick says, as if Sonny was ever Cyrus’s friend, and Cyrus says all their friction is in the past. He almost said water under the bridge, but that would have been in poor taste. Now is the time for them to join together before the wrong people fill the void left behind be Sonny. May he rest in peace.

Olivia says, before she commits to anything, she wants to know how Sam is going to prove Tracy lied. Sam says the security company that installed the alarm also monitors it 24/7, and Olivia says, so they’d be able to tell her if anyone activated the alarm that night. Sam says, or if it was disarmed the night the car went off the road. Olivia says, which supports the theory that the two of them were never at the house, and Sam says, leaving Tracy’s story up for grabs. Olivia asks if they shouldn’t get Alexis involved, and Sam says, normally, she’d say yes, but her mom is walking an emotional tightrope right now. If they get her hopes up… Alexis comes downstairs, and Sam asks if she’s okay.

Tracy and Finn go into his office, and Tracy says they were talking about Alexis. Did Alexis tell him that she was with her the night she got hammered and drove her car off the road? He says, Alexis swears she never got behind the wheel. He guesses she’s in some pretty deep denial. Tracy says, they both know from bitter experience, denial can be your worst enemy. He says, tell him about it, and she says, maybe he should tell her about it. He’s about to get married, and suddenly has this grim look on his face. What’s that all about?

Chase asks if Michael is just a guy having a beer, or is this a cover for a sneak attack? Michael tells him not to worry. He thinks he made his point at the gym. Chase says, something tells him, they’re not even. He hasn’t seen Michael since the authorities called off the search for his father, and he wants Michael to know how sorry he is. Michael thanks him, and says he knows the PCPD did what they could. Chase says, what they could inside their jurisdiction. Michael says he went there, and saw what was left of the bridge. He saw where his father went into the river. It was surprisingly still on the surface, but the water is cold, and deep, with a strong current. The more he looked for a way out for his father, the more he searched for a sign of hope, it became clear that nothing short of a miracle could have saved him. Chase says, as his friend – or at least his former friend – Michael and his family have his condolences. As a cop, he’d be remiss not to caution Michael to please, watch his back. He and everybody close to him could be in immediate danger.

Willow says she was glad Sasha was there for Michael the night he found out about Sonny. She knows it meant a lot to him. Sasha says, it goes both ways. Michael was there for her too. He visited her when she was in the hospital. Willow says he told her, and Sasha says he encouraged her to go to counseling; drug counseling. Willow asks how it’s going, and Sasha says, so far, so good. She’s not doing drugs, and she’s learning a lot about herself. Before they go off on a tangent about counseling, she needs to clarify something. The night they called off the search for Sonny, she wasn’t there at the house for Michael. She was actually there for Carly. She wanted to thank Carly for lighting a fire under her when she needed help. She just happened to be there when Michael got the news, but she’s not the one who’s supposed to be comforting him. Willow asks, what if she’s wrong? What if she is supposed to be the one?

Phyllis says, Lenny Caulfield, where are your manners? Mike showed up at the clinic, half frozen to death. Lenny says he’s not in the mood for another one of Phyllis’s strays. She tells him, the Tan-O has a reputation for hospitality. So stop being a grouch, and be hospitable. She tells Sonny, don’t worry. He talks tough, but her Lenny is a puddy-tat. Lenny says, and she’s always picking up strays. He asks Sonny what line of work he’s in, and how he ended up in the woods. Sonny says Lenny isn’t going to like the answer, and Lenny says, try him. Sonny says he doesn’t know.

Cyrus tells Jason and Brick, he’s been trying to track down his mother. He doesn’t suppose they have any information as to her whereabouts. Brick asks if Cyrus tried looking for her the last place he saw her, and Cyrus says, apparently Jason hasn’t kept Brick apprised. His mother is an invalid. She was receiving the best care possible, until someone removed her from the facility. The Vermont police are looking into this, but Jason already knew that. Jason says Cyrus mentioned it in a previous conversation, and Cyrus says, and he’s still not received any reassurance. How does he know she’s all right, and hasn’t met a terrible fate? Jason says, like the Novaks? and Cyrus says, the who? Brick says, the Novaks are one of the five families. They were bringing a shipment of their product through Port Charles. Cyrus says, that’s distressing, and Brick says, it was for them at the warehouse down by the docks. Everybody dead, and the place turned upside down. Does Cyrus know anything about it?

Alexis says, everything is not okay, especially with the photo album. It’s just begging her to get hammered for its own amusement. Olivia offers to take it off her hands, but Alexis says she has a better idea – the fireplace. Olivia says, what if Sam or her grandkids want to look at it? but Sam says, go ahead; throw it in. Think of it as purging. Alexis says, it’s more like an exorcism, and Sam says it might make Alexis feel better. Alexis says Julian bought the house. Maybe they should burn that down too. Olivia says it’s a nice idea, but it’s called arson. Alexis says, okay, let’s do this, and Sam says she’s going to check on the kids. Olivia says she has Sam covered, and asks Alexis where she wants to start. Alexis takes out a picture of her and Julian, and says, this one, putting it in the fire. Taking out another, Olivia says they look so happy in this one, but Alexis says, all lies. She rips it up, and Olivia asks if she’s sure. Alexis throws it in, and Olivia says, arrivederci.

Outside, Sam phones Forrester Home Security. She explains that she has a question about one of their alarm systems, and hopes they can help.

Finn tells Tracy, they scaled back from the big top circus event to something more manageable. She says it sounds like it’s up his alley. What’s the problem? He says, just when it got good, things got complicated. She says, it’s a wedding, and he says, it was a wedding. Now it’s a double wedding with Maxie… and Peter. Tracy makes a face, and he says, exactly. His father is planning on staying for the wedding, and maybe indefinitely. She says she knows how complicated fathers can be, and Finn says, it’s not just him. His step mom is coming. Did he mention they were separated? Tracy asks if she’s invited or has to crash it, and he asks which she prefers. She says, crashing it, and she wants the chicken. He says, good choice, and she tells him to start with his stepmom. Does she know her? Finn says she’s Jackie Templeton, and Tracy says, Jackie Templeton is his stepmother? He says, and Chase’s mother. She asks how come he never mentioned his father was married to Jackie? He doesn’t like her? he says, that’s not what it is, and she asks, then what is it?

Michael tells Chase, it’s not the Corinthos family’s first rodeo. Jason will make sure they’re protected. Chase says he respects Jason, but there was an incident in the warehouse district. He says he can’t talk about an ongoing investigation, but Michael says he gets the picture. Was it his dad’s warehouse? Chase says, it was leased through a holding company; they haven’t ID’d the exact tenants. Michael says he’s guessing the owner is in Panama and untraceable, and Chase says, probably. He tells Michael, be careful. He’d hate if anything happened to Michael, or anyone close to him. Michael says he’ll make sure Willow is protected too. Chase wonders if Michael needs safety protocols, and Michael asks if Chase and Willow talked safety protocols when they had dinner.

Willow says she knows how much Sasha cares about Michael. Even though he’s strong, he needs someone to turn to. Sasha says he has Willow, his wife. Willow says, of course (🍷) he does. They’ve always been friends, and she’s sure they always will be. Sasha says, hold on. Willow is talking like still it’s still a marriage of convenience, but it’s not, right? They got married to keep Wiley safe from Nelle. Nelle is gone now, and Wiley’s safe, but they’re still together. Willow says, yes, but… and Sasha says she doesn’t have to pretend. She knows they’re sleeping together. Willow sits down.

Brick says, what happened at the warehouse was strictly amateur, and Cyrus says, fascinating. In what way? Brick says, it was sloppy and unprofessional, an open invite for reprisal. Jason says, the Novaks are one of the five families, and when you attack one, the others unite against you. Cyrus says, then he’s glad he’s not the one who’s set to incur their collective wrath.

Lenny says Sonny doesn’t remember what he does for a living, or how he ended up in the woods? Sonny says, both are a mystery, and Phyllis says, the doctor thinks his injury messed with his memory. Lenny says, so he could be anyone; a grifter or a criminal. Sonny asks if Lenny has a Marine tattoo, and Lenny says, he remembers what the tattoo stands for, but not his name? Phyllis says, that’s how memory loss works, and Lenny says, fine. What about his tattoo? Sonny says he thought the Marines never leave any men behind. Lenny says, they don’t. Did Mike serve, or doesn’t he remember? Phyllis suggests Lenny shut up and give Sonny some coffee already, and Lenny says, why not a four-course meal? She says she already fed him the bolognaise. Just give him some coffee, and friendly conversation. Lenny says, no, and Sonny says he’s not there for a handout. If Lenny gives him some coffee, he’s willing to work in the kitchen. Phyllis says, sounds like a good offer, and Lenny tells Phyllis, fine. Inform the kitchen they have a new dishwasher. Phyllis goes to the kitchen, and Lenny says, listen up, Mike. If whatever he can’t remember brings them trouble, he’ll have to answer to him.

Sam asks if Alexis feels better, and Alexis says she actually does. It felt good to purge. She thanks Sam for encouraging her, and Sam says, it’s later than she thought. Maybe Alexis wants to head up to bed. She and Olivia can clean up and lock up. Alexis says she appreciates that, and tells Sam the security code is Scout’s birthday. She thanks them, tells them goodnight, and goes upstairs. Olivia asks what Sam found out, and Sam says, according the security company, it was set in the early evening, probably before Alexis left for the MetroCourt. It wasn’t disarmed until days later. Olivia asks if there’s any other way Alexis and Tracy could have gotten inside without setting it off, or if it was set off in error, but Sam says, no. And Olivia clearly saw the coffee on the counter? Olivia says, all it needed was a neon sign saying caffeine. None of Tracy’s story holds up. Sam says, they have her, and Olivia says, except for one thing; motive.

Finn tells Tracy, his mom had just died, and his dad remarried in a couple of months. She asks if things smelled rotten in Denmark, and he says he had a hard time accepting it. He acted immaturely, and did things he wished he hadn’t. Right now, he should feel like the luckiest guy in the world, but all he can think about are the things he should have done differently. She says, what a spectacular waste of time, and he says he knew she’d be sympathetic. She asks, what’s the point in second guessing himself now? and he says he’s thinking of coming clean and telling the truth. She asks, why now? All of the people involved are grown-ups, and his brother wasn’t even born. He says, Chase came along later, and she says he needs to ask himself, would he be helping the people he loves by easing his burden, and putting it on their shoulders? He says he knows how to answer, and she says, does he?

Chase asks how much Willow told Michael, and Michael says, they agreed to be honest, but it’s no secret she still cares. Chase says they talked about that, and decided… He doesn’t really want to hear this, does he? Michael says, no, but he probably should, and Chase says, it felt good talking with her, as if nothing had happened. Even though everything has. Michael says, things got more complicated than expected, and Chase says, some things are more clear. Willow is married, and she’s not that kind of girl… Michael says, okay. He knows what happened.

Willow says Sasha isn’t wrong. Something did happen between her and Michael that they didn’t expect. Sasha says, they consummated the marriage. Good for them. She knew it was a possibility. She and Chase pushed Willow and Michael together for Wiley’s sake, but they figured sooner or later the marriage would become real, and it has. Willow says, it’s not that simple, and Sasha asks, why? Willow says, when she’s with Chase, the feelings come back like they never left. Like how Sasha’s feelings for Michael come back when she’s alone with him. Because they never left either, did they?

Cyrus guesses he’s not getting that drink, and heads for the door. He says, look on the bright side. Regardless of whoever did the housekeeping, the problem was corrected. He thought what happened tonight might be considered a good will gesture for the unfortunate misunderstanding on the pier. Jason says he thinks they understood each other perfectly.

Lenny says, Sonny had no ID? and Sonny says, they checked his pockets, but there was nothing, and his wallet got lost. Lenny asks if he checked his wedding ring or watch, and Sonny takes off his watch, telling Lenny, it has an inscription. Check it out. Lenny reads, Mike, never enough time, Love, A. He says, that’s how they came up with Mike, huh? He’s one lucky s-o-b if he survived a winter night like this. Phyllis says, someone is looking out for him, and Lenny says, she’s always thinking there’s a guiding light looking out. She says, that’s because there is, and he says, some medical professional. Phyllis sits down with them, and says she’s had patients who thought they’d lost everything. One even lost her precious child, but the child was taken away from her, and there was nothing any of them could do about it. Sonny asks if they found the child, and she says, not yet, but as long as there’s life, there’s hope. Lenny says, see what he means? and Sonny says, there should be a lot more Phyllises in the world. A guy walks into the bar, which is not the start of a joke. He looks like a troublemaker.

Olivia asks Sam why Tracy would frame Alexis with a DWI. What is she trying to get? Sam has no idea. She can’t think of a reason, but knows how they can figure it out. They’ll go to Tracy. They’ll be calm and firm, and just ask for her side of the story. See if she’s honest. Olivia says Sam is Leo’s half-sister, and she loves Sam, but it’s a terrible idea.

Finn looks at his phone, and tells Tracy, duty calls. Tracy says, just as she was about to solve all his problems. Too bad. He says he’s glad she stopped by, and she says, of course (🍷) he is. Dinner and backgammon soon. He says he hopes she makes the wedding, and she asks if he doesn’t mean weddings, plural. He says he’ll be glad to have a friendly face on his side of the aisle, and she says she wouldn’t miss it. He tells her, the whole family thing is a work in progress. Violet is the best thing that ever happened to him. If he let her down, he doesn’t think he could live with himself.

Chase tells Michael, he never intended… Just talking felt so familiar, and it happened. He’s sure Willow explained. Michael says, he’d found out they might be calling off the search for his dad; there was no time to explain. Chase says he thought Michael knew, and Michael says, he knew they’d find a way past the hurt and the lies, and it sounds like they did. Chase asks if Michael is mad, and Michael says, he’s not sure, but what he is, is late. The beer is on him.

Sasha tells Willow, she’s never denied still being in love with Michael. She doesn’t get why Willow is telling her this. Wait. Willow has feelings for Michael and Chase, and she wants Sasha to be the reason she gives up Michael. Willow admits she doesn’t know. She hopes not. Sasha says, nothing would please her more if Willow got back with Chase, and she got back with Michael, but she doesn’t know what Michael wants. She knows she wants Michael to be happy, even if it’s not with her, and Willow says she wants that too. Sasha says, Willow and Michael need to figure out if they belong together. She’s not going to make the decision for Willow. She did that once, and look how it worked out.

Sonny asks if Phyllis knows that guy, and she says, no, but she knows the type. They come in occasionally to stir up trouble. Sonny asks what they do, and she says, Lenny used to toss them out on their ear, but he’s got a bad heart now, and worries about her. She looks at Lenny, and says, so maybe it’s best to try and get along. Lenny gets up, and goes to bar. He asks what he can get the guy, and dude takes out a gun, saying, he’ll give Lenny one guess.

Olivia tells Sam, the worst thing would be to come at Tracy too strong and too fast, and for Sam to let Tracy know she’s on to her. Sam says, doesn’t Olivia doesn’t mean we. Olivia is the one who came to her with the suspicion. She’s just doing this because of Olivia, and she’s right. Why would she want to back out now? There’s a knock at the door, and Sam wonders who it could be at this hour. It’s Tracy.

Willow thanks Sasha for coming by, and Sasha says she knows Willow is confused and conflicted. Willow says, an understatement. Sasha says she’s sorry she didn’t help, but Willow says she did. She’s not sure how, but she’s knows Sasha helped. Sasha says she knows Willow pretty well, and knows Michael. She doesn’t think the two of them would have become as close as they did if they didn’t have something real. Willow needs to figure out if she wants to fight for it. Michael walks in.

Cyrus says, it seems Jason’s differences with the Novaks have been addressed, yet his mother is still missing. Jason says, that’s not his problem, and Cyrus says, his problems are Jason’s problems. If he does something for Jason, he expects the favor to be returned – with interest. Brick opens the door, and Cyrus squeezes past him. Brick closes the door, and tells Jason, sorry, but he has to ask. Since when has Jason been in the business of snatching old ladies from nursing homes to use as leverage? Jason says, sometimes bad things happen to bad people.

Lenny says he doesn’t want any trouble, and dude says that makes two of them. So why doesn’t Lenny open the cash box and show him how generous he can be? Sonny looks at dude, and dude asks if Sonny has a problem.

Alexis wakes up, and looks through some documents.

Tracy is surprised to see Sam there, and Sam says Olivia was helping her out with her mom. Tracy asks how Alexis is, and Sam says, she’s not doing that well. She hasn’t been great since she ran her car off the road. Tracy says, that’s why she’s there. She was with Alexis that night, and thought she’d stop by to check on her. Sam says she’s surprised. She didn’t think Tracy cared. Tracy says, she does. Is Alexis available? Sam says, no; she’s in bed. Olivia says, after everything that’s happened, Alexis isn’t up to visitors. Tracy says, give Alexis her best, and asks if she can give Olivia a ride. Sam says they still have things to do, and Olivia says, it won’t take that long. Sam tells Tracy, she’ll drop Olivia off, and Olivia says, they’ll lock up when they leave. Tracy asks, why wouldn’t they? and Olivia says she assumed if Tracy cared enough to come by, she obviously wants Alexis to be safe and sound. Sam asks if Tracy knew that her mother got a state of the art alarm system, and Tracy says, good to know. Tell her mom she said hello. Sam closes the door, and Olivia says she’s absolutely certain Tracy never laid eyes on that keypad in her life. Sam says, another indication that she was never there. More and more her story doesn’t add up.

Finn phones Anna, saying he’ll be home soon and he loves her. Chase tosses some money on the reception desk, and Finn says, billing is on another floor. Chase tells him, take it anyway. Doesn’t he recognize it? Finn says, currency? and Chase says it’s Finn’s money from poker night. Finn asks why Chase is giving it back, and Chase says, it’s a symbol. His luck is changing. He has a chance to get Willow back. Finn says he likes the odds, but keep his winnings. Chase says he owes it to Finn. He couldn’t have gotten better advice from their dad.

Sasha tells Michael, hello and goodbye. She was just leaving. He tells her, she says that every time they run into one another, and she says, maybe next time, she’ll say something else. She jets, and Michael says, what was that? Willow says, can’t a girl be in a good mood? She asks how his meeting went, and he says, it ended early. He tells her, they need to talk, and she says she thinks so too.

Brick tells Jason, Cyrus made it sound like quid pro quo. It sounds like if his mom is safe and sound, Port Charles will have peace. If not, he thinks the message is clear. What is Jason going to do? Jason says, nothing. If Cyrus gets what he wants, he’ll just start taking more, and he’s not letting that happen.

Dude sees Sonny looking at him, and asks if Sonny’s got a problem. Sonny says, no problem, and dude says, that’s what he thought. He’s not going to tell Lenny again; open the cash box. Phyllis gets up, and asks why he doesn’t leave them alone. They’re hard working people. He tells her to shut her mouth, and Lenny says leave his wife alone. Dude asks what he’s going to do about it. We see the gears whirring in Sonny’s mind.

On Monday, Ava gets a terrific idea, Jax asks if someone has second thoughts, Josslyn asks why Cameron would think she’d throw away her journal, and the gunman tells Sonny, now would be a good time to shut up.

📍 In Conclusion…

Wrapping it up for this week in television, but I’ll see you when it’s time to be Below Deck. Congrats if you have a long weekend, a smaller congrats if it’s the usual two days off, and my sympathies if you’re just X’ing more days off the calendar. Or the biggest congrats if you’re happy about that. Regardless, there seems to be real light at the end of what seems like a never-ending tunnel, so think good thoughts. And while you’re at it, stay safe, stay emboldened, and stay not opening any invite for reprisal when it comes to the five families. I still say that sounds like a spaghetti sauce brand.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sam sees Jason in the water, floating face down. She dives in

Marcus meets Curtis at Kelly’s, and asks what Curtis wants to talk to him about. Curtis says, Aunt Stella.

Mike and Stella walk into Sonny’s house. Mike says he didn’t know he liked Bingo so much. Stella thinks he likes Bingo with Yvonne. He asks if she saw the look on Yvonne’s face when she won. She has the best smile this side of the equator. He says Stella has a good one too. She asks what he’d like to do, and he says, about what? She tells him that his caretaker is on a break, and she promised Milo she’d stay with him. He wonders who Milo is, and she reminds him that he’s one of Sonny’s guards. She says they can hang out until his caretaker comes back. Mike says he has to get the last bus home. His parents will be worried sick.

Aiden, Jake, and Franco come home, laden with shopping bags. Aiden says, it was amazing, and Franco says, amazing prices. Aiden asks if they can bake something; the cupcake recipe looks good. Jake says their mom will kill them if she comes home and they’re still up. Franco says, that doesn’t sound like her, and Jake asks if he’s met her. Franco tells him to look at his brother’s face; he’s so happy. How could their mom be mad at a face like that? Jake suggests they get their bake on.

Kim tells Oscar that he has to stay in the hospital overnight for observation. He says, nothing happened, but she says he had a seizure. He tells her, it’s over, and Josslyn was more traumatized than he was. She totally stepped up. She says, it’s his turn. She knows he doesn’t want to stay, but he’s going to. Do it for Josslyn.

Carly hasn’t heard from Jason, and says he has to be fine. Josslyn says he’d better be. He saved her life.

Sam surfaces, and dives again. This time, she brings Jason up, and drags him toward the pier. He comes to, and pulls himself up, with Sam helping. I think about how cold he must be.

Stella tells Mike, it’s too late to catch the bus. She’ll call his parents, and tell them it’s best if he spends the night. Sonny and Carly have his favorite foods, and a room just for him. He says he didn’t like long bus ride anyway, and being so far from Yvonne. Stella says things must be good with them, and he says, especially since that man’s not getting in the way. She says, that man has s name; Marcus. He made an enormous sacrifice for his wife. Mike says, he gave her up? and Stella says, he did. Just like she gave Marcus up a long time ago.

Curtis tells Marcus that Aunt Stella would have his hide if she knew he reached out. He can’t stand that she’s suffering. He feels bad about how things went down at Turning Woods; she thinks she ruined the friendship. Marcus says if anyone did, it was him. She did nothing wrong.

Jake asks if can help decorate. Aiden says they’re doing flowers with the Russian piping tips Franco bought. If they do it right, it will look like a bouquet. Jake tastes the batter, and says, amazing. Franco tastes it, and says, dude, you’re a genius. He applauds, and says the chef should take a bow.

Carly tells Josslyn that Jason probably lost his phone in all the excitement. Josslyn says, it was stupid. What was she thinking, going to the catacombs, at night no less, when they’re closed off? Oscar wanted to go. Carly gets it; Josslyn wants Oscar to live life to the fullest. Sonny says she has to be careful. Josslyn says, now she put Jason in danger too. Carly says Josslyn knows what it’s like to lose a family member in an accident, and Sonny says she has to be aware, and not take risks. Carly tells her, going on an adventure is one thing; putting herself in danger is another. Josslyn says she’s really sorry, and Sonny holds her.

Sam asks if Jason is okay. He thinks so. She tells him that Spinelli accessed the records, and found out the aqueduct came out there. Jason says, it was so cold in the water. By the time he got there, he could barely move his arms. She says he popped up for a second, so she knew he was there. She guesses she owed him one.

Jason calls Carly, saying he’s fine. He found a way out. It’s all good. Carly asks if someone is with him, and he says Sam is there. He asks how Josslyn is, and Carly says, fine. Oscar has to stay the night for observation, but it didn’t seem to do him any harm. Carly asks him to promise he’s not dying; the kids are all right because of him. He promises, and she tells him, put Sam on. Sam says, he’s not dying, and Carly asks if she’s sure he’s okay. Sam says he’s a little banged up, and they’re both cold, but he’ll make it. Carly tells Sam to take care of him, and Sam says she thought she’d leave him out by the pier. Carly doesn’t really think that’s funny, and Sam says she will, even if she has to take him to the hospital. Carly wants an update later.

Carly tells Sonny and Josslyn that Jason is okay. Sonny asks, what happened? and Carly says Jason got stuck, but found a way to swim out. Sonny asks if he’s coming to the hospital, but Carly says that’s a hard no. Josslyn asks Elizabeth how Oscar is doing, and Elizabeth says, great, but he’ll be even better after a visit from her. Carly tells her, go, but they have to leave soon. Elizabeth says she’s clocking out herself. Carly and Sonny hug.

Aiden mixes colors. Jake says he’s an artist too. Franco thinks he should bring the cupcakes to school, but Jake says it’s not a good idea. Franco asks, why? and Jake says the school is getting crazy about what they bring in. The sugar will make them bounce off the walls. Franco says, Aiden made three dozen cookies for the bake sale. Bouncing off the walls is a guarantee. Aiden says, five minutes to go. Franco says they’re going to bed. They can frost the cupcakes in the morning. The boys go upstairs.

Sam tells Jason his ribs are probably bruised, and he has hypothermia. He needs to see a doctor. He says he doesn’t like hospitals, and she says, nobody does, but let them take a look. He tells her, not tonight, and she says, fine. He says she doesn’t have to watch over him, and tells her to go home and take a hot shower. She says he’s out of his mind. He’s coming home with her.

Elizabeth comes home, and asks, what smells so good? Franco says, cupcakes, and she asks if he baked. He asks if she wants the good news or bad news first, and she says, bad. He says, the bad news is the boys went to bed ten minutes ago. The good news is, Aiden had the best time baking the cupcakes, and Jake was helping. It’s a night he’ll never forget. Aiden was wildly enthusiastic, and wants to bring the cupcakes to school. Jake appears, and says they can’t let him do that.

Marcus tells Curtis, Stella did nothing wrong. He was too hard on her; she was only trying help. But he was freeing his wife up to find happiness with another man, and he lashed out. He was desperate to blame anyone for the illness. Curtis says the illness affects Marcus too, but Marcus says, that’s no excuse to blame her. She’s the best woman. Curtis doesn’t understand. Marcus and Stella are both loyal and genuine. What went wrong?

Stella sets up a card game, telling Mike that she used to play it with her fiancé. He asks if she’s getting married, but she says it was way back; they never made it. He asks if the bozo left her high and dry, but she says he was wonderful. She was afraid he’d have regrets, so she ended things and never looked back. She thought they’d reconnect, but royally screwed it up. Mike asks her to refresh his memory. Who are they talking about> She says, no one; sorry. They play cards.

Kim understands Oscar’s motivation, but it’s not okay. She says they need to discuss how this looks moving forward. Josslyn comes in, saying she wants to tell Oscar goodnight. Kim says she’ll be outside. Oscar tells Josslyn that her timing is literally perfect. He was just about to get a lecture. Josslyn says she got the same thing from her mom and Sonny, but they’re not wrong. She wants to do everything on the list, but they need to be smarter. He says she’s probably right. She says, probably? and he says, she’s right. She tells him Jason is okay, and Oscar says he’s doing better. He feels pretty good, except for one thing. She asks if he wants her to get a nurse, but he says, not unless she wants him to kiss the nurse instead.

At Sam’s house, she asks how Jason feels. He thinks he’s warming up. She gives him some brandy, and he says he’ll drink it if she takes a shower; she was in the water too. She says she was in a wetsuit. She’d rather go downstairs, and make something warm to eat. He asks what she’s making, and she says chicken tenders and broccoli with cheese sauce; microwave food. He tells her, wait. She’s still cold. She can take a shower on her own, or he can carry her into the shower. She tells him, drink the brandy, and goes to the shower. He drinks.

Elizabeth asks Jake why Aiden can’t bring the cupcakes to school. He says the kids are already teasing Aiden. It’s the last thing he needs; they’ll make fun of him. They’re setting him up to get hurt. He says Franco teaches art therapy; why doesn’t he know this stuff? Franco says, clearly, Jake has to walk them through it. Elizabeth says they thought it was better. Charlotte isn’t picking on Aiden anymore. Jake says, it started with her, but it’s way worse. Elizabeth asks, how much worse? Jake shows them a message on the laptop, and says, they’re calling him Gayden.

Marcus tells Curtis that he had a job offer in San Francisco. They were making plans, but after Curtis’s father’s funeral, she broke the engagement. She was setting him free. No discussion; no options. She was moving in with her sister, and helping out. If he’d died a year later, it would have been different. They would have been married, and figured out how to deal with it together. Curtis says, instead, he died, and Stella decided for both of them.

Carly, Josslyn, and Sonny return home. Mike calls Josslyn Mary, and asks if she want play stickball tomorrow. She asks Sonny if it’s okay, and Mike says, after school, and they’ll do their homework first. Sonny doesn’t see why not. Josslyn tells Carly that she’s exhausted, and Carly asks Mike if he’s tired. He is, and Josslyn says she’ll show him to his room. He says, thank you, Mary. They go upstairs, and Carly tells Stella that Mike has started calling Josslyn Mary. Stella asks, who’s Mary? but Sonny’s not sure. He thinks it’s some girl from the old neighborhood. Stella says that kind of confusion isn’t uncommon, but she didn’t realize it was a regular occurrence. Sonny says it’s not, but Carly says he’s been doing it more frequently. Stella says, everybody looks good, and she’ll see them soon. Carly thanks her. After she leaves, Sonny asks if Carly herd what wasn’t said. He did. It’s time, isn’t it? I tear up.

Sam and Jason clink glasses in front of the fireplace. Sam takes a bite of a grilled cheese sandwich – that looks so good – and she says, it’s delicious. No wonder Danny loves spending the night with him. Jason says he loves having Danny there. Sam asks what he’s going to tell Danny about today. He asks what she means, and she says, mommy saved daddy’s back. He says, that’s a small part of the story, but she says she rescued him. He says, yes she did. She tells him to pinch her. She can’t tell him how many times she went to bed and dreamed of a different ending the night he disappeared. She’d gone into the water to look for him, but couldn’t’ find him, and she would dream that she rescued him, pulled him out, and he was there with her. Then she’d wake up, and he wouldn’t be there. He says he’s there now, and thanks her for saving him. They kiss.

Elizabeth wonders why kids are so mean. Jake says, if Aiden brings in purple cupcakes he made, they’ll tease him more. He was so excited – Elizabeth should have seen him. If he brings the cupcakes in, it will ruin all that. Elizabeth tells Jake he’s a good big brother. He’s trying hard protect Aiden, but he can’t always fight Aiden’s battles for him. Jake asks what he should do, and Elizabeth says, be there for him; look out for him. If he’s alone on the playground, play with him. Franco says, maybe Jake is right, but Elizabeth says, if they discourage him from being proud, they’ll discourage him from being himself, and they don’t want that. Jake doesn’t either. Elizabeth tells Jake that she loves him so much. It’s sad Aiden is going through a rough time, but it will get better. They’ll love him through it. She tells Jake, go upstairs, and follows. Franco looks at the laptop, and sees the message that calls Aiden Gayden.

Kim tells Oscar, they need to chat. Oscar knows what he did was stupid beyond stupid. She understands why he did it. He has a terminal diagnosis, and has the right to live the way he wants to while he can, but that’s not the same as risking his life – or someone else’s. She tells him, think about Josslyn, and do what he thinks she would want. He gets it, and says they talked about it. They won’t pull anymore stunts. But he is going to explore, take chances, and push limits. He doesn’t want to have any regrets. Kim doesn’t want him to have regrets either. They hug.

Curtis asks Marcus why he didn’t put up a fight. Marcus says partly because he was hurt, but partly because he knew her. Curtis has known her all his life. When she makes up her mind, you can’t change it. Curtis says, especially when it comes to family. Marcus says, then he found Yvonne. It was a happy marriage. His aunt was more an unanswered question. He was grateful in a way. If Stella hadn’t left him, he never would have met Yvonne, and he wouldn’t trade his life for anything. He imagines Stella feels the same way, raising him and his brother. Curtis says, life is crazy, and Marcus says he’s glad they had Stella. She did a phenomenal job raising him. Make sure to tell her. Curtis says he could tell her himself. Marcus says, goodnight.

Sonny tells Carly when Stella was talking, he knew his dad’s best life was not there with him anymore. He doesn’t care how much money he spends or people he hires. Mike is better off at the facility with Yvonne. He’s happier there than at home. He sees Mike happy. His eyes light up, and his mind is better. Carly says he remembers more there than he does at home. Sonny says, so that’s it? He lets Mike go? Carly asks if he’s ready to do that, and Sonny says, it would be selfish to keep him there. That’s not how he wants it to end.

Jason asks if this is okay, and Sam says, perfect. They get busy, and there’s a song part.

Franco asks what Elizabeth is thinking. She asks what he’s thinking. Franco says, does she think Aiden is gay, but she doesn’t know. He asks, would it surprise her? and she says, no. It’s been something in the back of her mind, but it’s the first time she’s said it out loud. And it’s not because he’s falling in love with baking. She wonders if this is something he’ll discover about himself. Franco says, if it happens, they’ll be there every step of way.

Stella sees Curtis at Kelly’s. He says, a minute earlier, she would have run into Marcus too. She asks if they talked, and he says they did. He has a question for her, but she says, another time, please. He asks if she’s okay, and she says, fine. He tells her, be real with him. She says she just came from Mike, and she’s sensing next time he sees her, he won’t know who she is. The disease just takes. Curtis asks if he can get her some tea. She says he was on his way out, but he says, is she kidding? He always has time for her. He takes her hand.

Sonny tells Carly, it feels so final; like admitting defeat. Carly says, no. It’s just the opposite. He knew before this started that his father wouldn’t have wanted any of them to see him fade away. He had so much dignity. Sonny says, out of the love he has for the father he remembers… he has to let him go. At this point, I grab a tissue. He says, but he’ll need her help, because saying it is one thing, and living through it scares the hell out of him. She says she’s there with him, beside him, wherever he needs her to be. She’s not going anywhere. She hugs him, and we see a picture of Sonny and Mike with the Luke’s sign behind them from the Nurses’ Ball.

Sam and Jason bask in the afterglow. He says he loves her, and he’s missed her. Sam loves him, and missed him too.

Tomorrow, Laura tells Lulu to wake up, Robert makes an appearance, and Ava asks not-Doc if he can see anything.

🔪 Captain Lee and Captain Sandy weren’t so much drivers as guests on tonight’s Top Chef. The captains greeted the chefs, who were split into teams, and showed them their respective galleys – which were family-style, and way too small, but still bigger than my kitchen. Captain Lee put a new spin on his usual, let’s get your/the party started, and told the contestants, get your stuff, get on board, and get after it. The teams threw houseboat parties on Lake Cumberland, with Emeril Lagasse being the guest judge. Brian’s pork fell apart (not a euphemism), which caused him to gripe that he didn’t get much sleep the night before, and basically blame the others for not having his back. I’m not sure what he wanted them to do. Hold it together with toothpicks? I didn’t mind seeing him pack his knives and go. He was proud of the way he competed, which is a nice way to go out, but he got more annoying as the season went on, and was starting to remind me of Colt on 90 Day Fiancé. Next time, the chefs go to Nashville.

April 6, 2018 – Betsy Spills to Drew, One Good Quote & My Best Girl

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

Due to unexpected business, this week, it’s just GH and one quote, but it’s a good one.

General Hospital

Jason tells Sonny might be going out of town. Carly tells them that she has to go to her old house to meet the inspector.

Nelle gets there first, checking to see if anyone is around. She’s sorry she had to steal a key from Josslyn, but it’s for a good cause. Let the haunting begin.

Kim asks how Oscar’s return to the outside world was. He tells her about meeting Josslyn at Kelly’s, and how he told her about the evening with Drew. Kim says it was a nice time, that’s all. He thinks it was more than that. He heard her talking to Julian, saying she never loved anyone like she did Drew and hasn’t gotten over him.

Drew wants to get the doctor, but Betsy wants him to get Bobby. She needs to tell him about Jim. Drew asks if she can tell him. He really needs to know.

Franco wants Doc to hypnotize him right now, but Doc says not until he’s totally calm. Franco says he is; why won’t Doc help him? Doc says it won’t work until he’s ready. Franco says he is, and would do it himself if he could. He wants his life back. Doc tells him that he can’t force it; they’ll give it a go again tomorrow. Franco says tomorrow might be too late.

Jim tells Elizabeth to do as he says, and they won’t get hurt. She asks him to let Jake go, but he says, no, and takes her purse. He says she’s going to drive out, keeping her eyes straight ahead. They’re looking for him on his own, and won’t look twice at two adults and a child.

Carly asks Jason what’s going on with Sam. He tells her, good news. Sam took Danny and Scout on a trip. Carly wonders how that’s good news, and he says she needs time away to focus on herself and the kids; time away from him and Drew. Carly says Sam doesn’t need time away from him, but she’ll follow her heart back to him, the sooner the better. Jason says maybe she’ll realize she needs to be alone. He’s okay with anything, unless she goes back to Drew. He says she’s not herself with him. She lacks confidence, and is always waiting for his approval and smoothing things over. I’ve actually never gotten that from their relationship, and wonder how Jason made this judgement after only being on the scene a short time. He says it’s not his place to interfere; it still isn’t. Sam has to figure out what’s right for her. He tells Carly to promise not to interfere; no set-ups, no pressure, nothing. That’s like asking one of my dogs not to covet my dinner. He says if Sam comes back, it will be the happiest day of his life, but if it doesn’t happen, as long as she’s strong, confident, and truly happy, it will be okay. Carly agrees Sam should do what makes her happy, and is sure she will when she comes back and runs into his arms. When that happens, Carly is going to need him to tell her she was right, and wants a witness. Sonny comes back in, and asks, a witness to what? That’s probably a touchy word with Sonny. Carly has to leave, and says she’ll let Jason tell him. Sonny asks if he really wants to know.

Nelle plugs a home control device into an outlet in Carly’s living room. She messes with the app on her phone, making the lights blink.

Oscar tells Kim it’s what she said. She tells him the thing with eavesdropping – besides being rude and invading privacy – is that it’s out of context. He heard the tail end of a conversation that was personal, and it’s none of his business. Oscar asks how, when Drew is his dad? She tells him to get some rest. He understands if she’s not comfortable discussing Drew with him, but says she shouldn’t be talking Julian either. She should be talking to Drew.

Drew asks what scared Betsy? She says she was dreaming. She saw Jim a moment ago in her room.

Franco tells Doc that Elizabeth came to see him. She brought Jake, and it tore him up. He wants to go home, and needs to remember. Doc knows patience isn’t Franco’s strong suit, but if he tries to force he memories, he might undo everything that got him to this point. Is he willing to risk that?

Jake tells Elizabeth they were told in school to never get in a car like this. As Bo Deitl told us: never go to crime scene number two. Jim tells Elizabeth to shut him up, and get in the car. Elizabeth asks Jake if he trusts her, and tells him to do exactly what she says – run! Jake takes off, and she pushes Jim back.

Jason tells sonny that Spinelli is in Europe, hoping to gain access to Faison’s safety deposit boxes by posing as Henrik. Sonny asks if he doesn’t think Spinelli will screw that up. Jason tells him about Spinelli’s contingency plan. Sonny assumes the plan is if Spinelli gets in trouble, Jason picks him up. Jason says it’s more elaborate than that, and might not come to it. Sonny says Spinelli is a genius in the computer world, but in the real world, he’ll blow it. He tells Jason that he should bring along Anna; she wants Henrik more than anybody. Jason says she’s cooperative, but there’s definitely something she’s not saying. Sonny says anything to do with Faison is personal to her, and Jason says it’s the same with his son. He doesn’t know why, but she seems too close.

He asks how Mike is, and Sonny says there are good days bad days. He tells Jason about Mike recording some old times on Michael’s phone. He say everything was great, then he went on a tangent about a field in Croton, and something that happened years ago, Jason says, so? Sonny says, Mike was never there. He couldn’t possibly know what happened.

Carly gets to her house, and leaves a message for the inspector. The lights start to flicker. Carly wonders when this started. Hiding upstairs, Nelle smiles.

Betsy tells Drew that it felt real; her mind must be playing tricks. He tells her that Jim is a fugitive. If he comes back, he’ll be arrested on sight. He says they haven’t found him, but there’s no way for him to get past them. She’s safe. She says she’s not worried about herself; she’s afraid for Bobby.

Doc tells Franco that they’ll try again tomorrow. If he wants success, go home, and get some sleep. Franco says he has no home until this is resolved, but can stay in Kiki’s spare room. Doc doesn’t think he should drive, and says he’ll call Franco an Uber. Okay, Franco is an Uber. BA-DUM-CHH!

Jim says that was a big mistake. Elizabeth says it’s all over for him, and he tells her to get in the car. Jakes shows back up and tells Jim to get away from his mom. Great move, kid, instead of running to get help.

Sonny explains to Jason that when he worked for Joe Skully and was moving up in the organization, he was proving his loyalty. Joe said there was a problem with a guy who wasn’t trustworthy, and he asked Sonny to meet him. He just said there was problem. It was as simple as that. He got there, and Skully wasn’t mad; he was casual, and didn’t even stop watching TV. He told Sonny he was going to be driving to Croton, and don’t forget to bring his shovel. There was a body wrapped in plastic in the trunk. He took care of the problem in a field. There was no one and nothing around for miles. Jason asks if that was the end of it, and Sonny says, until Mike brought it up, it didn’t even exist. His dad wasn’t there. How would he know?

The inspector calls Carly, saying it will be an hour. The lights blink and go out. Wouldn’t she think it was a problem from the earthquake? I guess not. She asks if anyone is there, and hears something upstairs. Nelle makes sounds with the app, and smiles.

Drew tells Betsy that Jim tried to hurt Bobby and failed; he’s running for his life. She says he doesn’t understand, and he asks her to help him. Tell him what happened. She says she raised them like brothers. You’d think two boys would be a handful, but not them. They were rambunctious, but sweet. They hardly fought, and would play for hours together. It was all her fault, bringing in Jim. He seemed so nice and charming, and then Bobby started acting out. At the time, she didn’t know why, but looking back, realized what happened, and what caused the fall down the stairs. She continues to talk, but we don’t hear the rest of what she says to Drew.

Elizabeth tries to run. Jim tries to get Jake to come, but he won’t, and Elizabeth pokes him in the eye. He pushes her down, and tells her to get in the car. Franco is suddenly there, and Jim says, looks what he did. He calls Franco Bobby, and says it’s all his fault. Hmm… I don’t know if Franco is taking the bait this time. He looks pretty staunch.

Jim tells Elizabeth and Jake to get in the car. Franco rushes Jim, causing him to drop the gun, and Elizabeth and Jake run. Jim reaches for the gun, but Franco pulls him back. They tussle on the ground.

Sonny tells Jason that Mike came and went. The times he saw him, Mike lectured him that Skully was bad news. He thought, who was Mike to tell him how to live his life? It was his business. He knows now that Mike was trying to stop him from making a choice he couldn’t take back. Maybe if he’d listened, he’d have a different life. Skully was offering what he was offering, and he took it with both hands. He’s not complaining; look at what he built. Jason asks if Croton was the only job like that. Sonny says there were a few others, but Mike wasn’t there. He’s sure he never told him. Jason wonders if Mike knew someone else who worked for Skully. Sonny says, maybe, but who knows what he remembers these days?

Carly goes upstairs, and asks if anyone is there. She goes into Morgan’s room, and closes the door. She gets nostalgic, like this is the time, and picks up a baseball glove. She holds it to her chest, and says, Morgan, my baby. She hears creaking, and picks up the bat. She looks in the closet, and there’s nothing there. Not much in the way of clothing either. Did he live there?

Kim is glad Oscar is getting to know his father. Oscar says having him there felt easy, like they all belonged together. He never knew how much he wanted that. Doesn’t she feel the same way? She say the Drew she was talking about, the one she knew, the Navy SEAL, doesn’t even remember being that person or spending time with her. When talks about not being over Drew, she means the Drew of the past, not the one here the other night. The one she was in love with is gone, and he’s not coming back. Oscar says he left her something, and she says, yeah, him. Oscar says besides him, and takes out the CD. He says she can’t seem to throw it away.

Drew leaves Betsy’s room. He sees Doc, who asks if he’s all right. Drew doesn’t think so. He felt guilty about Betsy freaking out. Doc says he doesn’t think Drew was the cause, but Drew says he went to apologize. She said she needed to talk to Franco about Jim, and he asks if she could tell him instead. She told him how he fell down the stairs, and how it relates to Jim. Elizabeth and Jake run in. Elizabeth tells them that Jim was in the garage, and had a gun. He tried to force them into the car, but Franco stopped him. They were fighting, but she doesn’t know what happened.

Franco punches Jim out. Jim says he’s his friend. Franco puts his hands around Jim’s throat.

Sonny tells Jason that the other day, Mike said remembered him as a kid, kicking the can. He got the day right, and the other kid right, but Sonny doesn’t remember him being there. Jason says maybe he wanted to be there or wished he was, and convinced himself. Sonny says Griff told him that Mike’s mind would play tricks. One day he forgets what he had for breakfast, but remembers a sandwich from the 80s. Jason asks what the harm is. At some point, Mike won’t remember anything. Let him have his memories now. Sonny says he told Mike that he remembered him being there. Maybe he was there. Memory is unreliable, but he can tell Jason for sure that Mike was not anywhere near the field in Croton.

Carly goes back to the living room, and texts Bobbie, saying the inspector was a no show. Bobbie texts back, saying she’ll reschedule. Carly is about to leave, and hears footsteps. She picks up the bat again, and the lights come on.

Oscar says the CD is special; Drew made it for her. She says not the Drew he knows; he’s different now. Oscar says there must be a reason she kept it. It should have been recycled. He says if she doesn’t care, he’ll take it right now, but she doesn’t have to pretend like she doesn’t have feelings about it. Kim tells him, that’s enough; it’s late. She already told him how she feels. She hugs him, and he goes to his room. She looks at the CD.

Elizabeth says the police are on the way. She asks Doc to stay with Jake; she’s going with Drew. Jake asks, what now? and Doc says the police have been called. Jake says what if it’s too late? Jim had gun. If he shoots Franco, it’s all his fault.

Jim tells Franco, you know me. Franco says, he does, and Jim will never hurt him or anyone he loves again. He continues to punch Jim. Jim says he’ll turn himself in, and when Franco pauses, he punches Franco in the face, and grabs for gun.

Sonny says that his dad enjoyed himself at “Luke’s.” Jason thinks everyone has a good time. Sonny says some of them don’t like him, or even despise him, but they came for Mike. Jason says he never understood the value of memory. He couldn’t miss a childhood he didn’t know. The other night, he realized how much he’s been through, and how much people mean to him. He sees their faces, remembering the good and bad times, and knows they share that. It’s good Sonny was able to give Mike back some of his missing history for a little while. Sonny says they had a good conversation afterward. Mike was lucid, and it was good to see him in the present. Now it’s a guessing game as to which Mike is coming into the room. Maybe he did see Sonny kicking cans, but the Croton thing worries him. If Mike knows something, what does he know, and what has he said without realizing?

Carly goes back to Morgan’s room. Nelle sneaks back to the living room, unplugs the device, and leaves.  Carly picks up the mitt, and tells herself to pull it together. She says the earthquake messed with the lights. She sees a framed photo of Morgan, and the glass is broken.

Kim looks at the CD, and puts it in her laptop. She listens, and smiles.

Jake tells Doc that Jim is big and mean. His mom tried fighting him, but she was too little, and he threw her on the ground. He wanted them to get in the car, but they wouldn’t. Franco show up. Jim called Franco Bobby, and said weird stuff. For a minute, Franco didn’t move, then he tackled Jim, and they ran away. Doc tells Jake that he doesn’t think he messed up; he had no control over the situation, but kept his head. He did everything he could to help his mom, and it was brave of him. Jake says his mom and Franco are the brave ones.

Drew and Elizabeth get to the garage, but there’s no one there, and no car. Elizabeth wonders what happened to them.

On Monday, Josslyn tells Michael he should get back together with Nelle, Elizabeth goes to Jordan about Jim, and Carly raises the bat.

🔉  Quote of the Week

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.Martin Luther King, Jr. Now if only the people who claim to follow his teachings, would actually listen to what he had to say.

March 2, 2018 – The Alternative Dance is Interrupted, Useless Info, Kid Chefs Return, Some Babbling & a Quote

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Carly takes pictures of Oscar and Josslyn. She says they’ll be grateful when they’re older, and insists on Jason taking one with her in it. She leads Oscar away for a chat, and Josslyn is understandably mortified.

Sam and Drew make out at the dance, because they’re suddenly fourteen again. Lulu talks to Kim about the reason for the party, and Kim says it’s ultimately for the kids to just be themselves.

At the gallery, Nelle asks Michael if he’s listening. He says he was miles away, thinking about the future. The baby’s and theirs.

Curtis does push-ups in his cell. Jordan comes by, and he asks if she has any idea when her man is getting out of the clink. She says it’s beyond her control. He suggests she do something that is in her control, like tailing Jim and finding out what his plans are for Port Charles before it’s too late.

Epiphany tells Elizabeth that no one’s heard from Franco. Elizabeth checks her phone, and says, nothing. Epiphany says he’s not actually late yet. No need to panic… yet.

Franco insists Jim tell him what happened. Jim says he got himself riled over nothing. They were just little kids. Franco says his whole life he’s felt unraveled, but Jim thinks he’s making his own misery. He’s healthy, gainfully employed, and has a woman who loves him waiting at the church; isn’t it enough? Franco says when he stands next to Elizabeth, he wants to be the best possible human he can be. He wants to know what happened. Jim tells him to be careful what he wishes for. What if he digs for clues that don’t exist, and it ends up costing him everything he has?

On the phone, Valentin tells Nina not to rush. He’s at the restaurant and will grab a table. Peter approaches him, and asks if Valentin knew his father was sick. Valentin says a pigeon could tell he was deranged. Peter says he had a brain disease, and there’s a 50% chance it got passed on to him.

Carly interrogates Oscar. Among her many questions, she slips in asking if they stocked up on wine coolers. She tells him no drinking, or no him and Josslyn.

Josslyn tells Jason that she has it easy compared to Michael. She thinks he’d be happier if they’re mom laid off of him. He and Nelle are having a baby, and it would be better if they were together. Josslyn says her mom thinks she can run their lives better than they can, and Jason tells her that she sounds like her mom. She says it doesn’t make her wrong. Nelle did some spectacularly stupid stuff, but it doesn’t make her a bad person. Carly comes back, and tells Josslyn to post lots of pictures – on her real account, not the fake one she created for Carly to follow. Josslyn and Oscar leave. Jason says Josslyn seems to like her dress. Carly says she loves it, and when she wants something, she’s relentless. Jason gives her a look, and she says she knows. That’s what scares her. The dress is okay, but nothing spectacular like I expected. It’s kind of like the first dress Carly nixed, but off-white and patterned.

Michael tells Nelle that spending the day with his grandfather got him thinking. Mike isn’t doing so well. Nelle says she’s sorry, and she’s there for him. He says she can’t promise that; no one can. They have to think about what would happen to their child if they die or are incapacitated. When he saw his dad with his grandfather, he realized they can’t put it off. They have to choose who takes care of their child if something happens to them. Nelle says she has no family, which leaves his. She hopes he isn’t suggesting they give the baby to his mom. He says he has someone else in mind.

Epiphany asks if Elizabeth is sure she’s ready to marry someone who self-sabotages. Elizabeth says Franco doesn’t think he deserves the things he wants, but believes he’ll learn to trust himself. Scotty pops in, saying the guests are getting restless. Epiphany says they can’t start without Franco, and asks if Scotty has any idea where he is. Scotty says he’s not Franco’s wrangler. Epiphany says, no, but he’s Franco’s dad and best man. Scotty says he’ll find him.

Franco wants Jim to tell him what happened. Jim says he and Betsy weren’t together that long, but he cared for her, and could catch flak for this. Franco says the only person Jim has to worry about is him. If Jim doesn’t tell him, there’s going to be trouble. Jim says, not for him, just for Franco. He was there when Andy took a header down the stairs.

Lulu talks to the kids, saying she’s writing a piece for the Port Charles Press. What they’re doing deserves exposure. Oscar says they just want to have fun. They’re tired of the antiquated rules, and wanted an alternative where everyone can feel safe and welcome. A boy walks in who looks like trouble.

Franco calls Jim a liar, and says he wasn’t there. Jim says he was, and the lie was the lesser of two evils. Franco should be grateful that he had a good life. What if Jim wasn’t so discreet? Franco asks what he’s talking about. Jim says Franco remembers, but Franco says not all of it. Does Jim think he’d be there if he did? Jim says he’s just not man enough to admit it, and he’s making him do all the work. Don’t say he didn’t warn him. Franco tried to kill Andy.

Jordan asks if Curtis is going to tell her next that the moon landing didn’t happen, and to let go of the conspiracy theories. He can speculate all he wants, but without legal evidence, how can he prove it? He says he’ll do the speculating. Jim shows up, buys up most of Charles Street, and throws money at one of the candidates who supports his plan. Then, there’s a sudden spike in crime and the quality of life goes down. Jordan says it drives down the property values, he buys cheap, the redevelopment passes, and construction begins. Curtis says he promised the neighborhood an arena and condos, but he has something else planned. Curtis says, it’s bigger than him; it’s about the community. They need to do something before it’s too late.

Carly tells Jason that Josslyn isn’t afraid to dream big and go after her dreams. She thinks about the awful things she did when she was just a little older, and what would have happened if not for him. He says she would have figured it out on her own. She says, or turned out like Nelle, incapable of taking responsibility for anything. She tells Jason that everyone thinks he’s too easy on her, and so do I. It ticks me off how she keeps saying Nelle is just like she was, but won’t help her or cut her some slack. Jason doesn’t care what everyone else thinks. She’s a great mom, and Josslyn is turning into a great person. She’ll make mistakes, but they have to be hers. That’s how Carly is different from Nelle; she learns from her mistakes, and Nelle doesn’t. He gets a call, and has to go.

Nina tells Carly that she saw Josslyn’s Instagram post, and her dress is spectacular. They have one like it in the Crimson closet, but the design isn’t coming out until fall. She wonders how Josslyn got the dress, and Carly says Nelle gave it to her. She claimed she got it from a runway show Nina sent her to. Nina says she never sent Nelle to a runway show, and Carly tells her to check if the dress is still in the closet.

The kids dance, and the troublesome dude walks around scowling. He takes out a… tomato? He yells, freeze, and throws it. It’s a paintball, and hits Josslyn’s dress smack in the middle. Oscar takes him down. Drew intervenes.

Drew tells the kid he’s lucky he’s not calling the cops, and to get out. Drew tells Oscar it’s over, and he’s okay; don’t let him win. He needs to get the momentum at the dance back up. Kim thanks Drew for stepping in before it got out of control. He claims he’s just doing his job as a chaperone.

Josslyn says she’s okay, just stained. Lulu says, sorry, but it’s not coming out. One of the genderfluid kids says he was aiming for them. Josslyn says he has worse issues than his batting accuracy. She can’t believe he ruined the dance, but it’s agreed her dress looks kind of cool, and she calls it Jackson Pollocky. Drew asks if Sam can dance in the shoes she’s wearing. They need to get the party back on track.

Peter tells Valentin that with Huntington’s disease, you go insane, lose you motor skills, and die. Yikes. He says it manifests itself between the ages of thirty and fifty. Valentin says his father was definitely insane, and asks if Peter is going to get tested. He’s not sure if he wants to know, but Valentin encourages him to do it. Peter says his father also left a will. Drew and Jason are beneficiaries, and Faison left them a way to identify him, but it can only be accessed if one of them dies. Valentin says they hate each other, but hate Faison more. He asks if there were other beneficiaries, and Peter says the bulk of the estate was left to his son. Nina suddenly appears, and says he was a sick freak.

Nelle asks the baby if daddy scared it. She says he’s just being responsible, and at least he agreed not to give the baby to Carly. Carly won’t be an option by the time the baby is born though. By the time mommy is done with granny, she won’t be fit to raise a Chia Pet. Carly walks in, and asks if Nelle is talking to herself? It makes her sound crazy.

Jason meets Michael at the mansion. Michael tells him that he and Nelle are getting things ready for the baby in advance. Jason tells him to enjoy sleeping in unstained clothing while he can. Michael tells Jason that they’d like him to take care of baby if anything happens to the both of them. There’s no one he trusts more, unless asking too much, Jason says he’d be honored.

Epiphany tells Elizabeth that they’re officially running behind. Scotty says he checked everyone with a pulse at the hospital, and there’s no sign. Epiphany asks, what about the studio, and he says he’ll check there. Elizabeth says he doesn’t need to do that. If Franco was late, he would have called. He’s not there because, whatever his reason, he chose not to be. The wedding is off.

Franco says, that’s not what happened, and Jim says, yes it. He saw it unfold from start to finish. He was watching the boys, and realized he hadn’t heard a peep for a while. He saw Franco at the top of the steps, and had a smirk like he was ready to show off. One second, Andy was standing on the steps, and the next he wasn’t. He’ll never forget the sound of him hitting the basement floor.

Drew and Sam show off their dancing skills to the amazement of the kids. When they’re finished, Sam’s phone dings, and she tells Drew she has to pick up the kids, but he should stay.

Nelle warned Carly about calling her crazy. Carly asks what she’s going to do, take another swing at her or whine to Monica? Nelle says Monica cares about the baby; she doesn’t. Carly accuses her of using Monica and Josslyn. Nelle asks if she can’t be friends with her baby’s aunt. Carly says she’s only using Josslyn to get to Michael, and it ends now.

Elizabeth says she’s going to make an announcement, but doesn’t want the boys there. Epiphany says she’ll take them, but it’s still early. Does she want her to stay? Elizabeth says she’s a big girl, and can handle herself. Epiphany has no doubt, and says her no good fiancé better hope she forgives him before they cross paths. Scotty says the subways are more dependable than his son. He hasn’t been right since the Drew and Jason stuff came out.

Jordan tells Curtis that he’s not the only one doing some investigating. She put in a call to a professor at PCU. She wants a geologist’s opinion. With any luck, they’ll have more insight. They’ll know Jim’s plans for Port Charles by this time tomorrow.

Jim says Franco wanted to know, and now he does. Jim tells Franco that he’s been in hell, holding it in all these years. He promised Betsy that he’d never contradict her story, but here he is breaking his promise. I roll my eyes. Franco says, better late than never. Jim says no one else needs to know. Not Drew or his wife.

Michael asks Jason how many pictures his mom took of Josslyn and her date, and Jason says, a lot. Michael remembers dying of embarrassment, but sees things now from a different perspective, and wants to preserve the moments. He’s looked at his baby’s sonogram a million times. By the time his child is one, he’ll have taken the most photos in history. Jason talks about taking a picture of Michael each day when Carly was away. Sam comes in to pick up the kids, and Michael leaves. Sam asks if Jason wants to say goodnight to Danny before she takes him home.

Kim says Drew’s still got moves. She’s seen it before once or twice. It reminded her of a night in a packed bar when, dressed in his Navy blues, he served it up during What a Feeling. Josslyn and Oscar slip out of the dance.

Carly tells Nelle that she doesn’t learn from her mistakes. She lies, manipulates, and it blows up in her face. Then she dos it again. Like the dress charade with Josslyn. She stole the dress from Crimson’s closet, and gave it to Josslyn like it was hers. Nina say she has a four-figure bill coming her way. Nelle says Crimson has a million dresses, and what difference does it make if she took one for Josslyn. Carly says she didn’t do it for Josslyn. It was trashy and pathetic, just like her.

Scotty tells Elizbeth it’s Doc’s fault. If Franco had listened to him, and not let Doc into his head, none of this would have happened. Elizabeth says she encouraged him. He says with all due respect, that was misguided. Now Franco has lost the best thing that would have happened to him because he couldn’t keep a secret. Elizabeth asks what secret, and Scotty backtracks, saying he meant a secret feeling that he couldn’t keep to himself. He asks if she wants him to tell everyone, and she says she’ll do it. They’re her guests.

Jim says he won’t repeat it to anyone, and advises Franco to do the same. Franco says he can’t live with himself if he doesn’t, and Jim says if Drew finds out, he’ll be coming for him. What if Elizabeth learns what he’s capable of doing? What would stop him from sending one of her kids down the stairs. Franco says he’d never harm them. Since the tumor was removed, he’s been able to control his violent impulses. Jim asks if the tumor was there back then. Maybe it just enhanced what’s innate, and he was born bad.

Nina thinks any money Faison left should go to Maxie. Valentin says they’ll make sure she never wants for anything. Nina says it won’t replace her husband. Peter says Maxie has a strong support system, but Nina tells him it won’t bring back Maxie’s husband or her child’s father.

Elizabeth sighs and looks at her ring. She remembers Franco proposing, and we flash back to that. She says, time to call off the wedding.

Jim tells Franco to Imagine the effect on Elizabeth. Every day the nagging doubts wearing her down until she walks away. He doesn’t have to lose her; she doesn’t have to know. Franco asks why he cares. Jim says he’s trying to save him from himself. Franco says, you know what he thinks? He thinks nothing Jim says is true. He doesn’t think it happened that way. He thinks Jim is lying.

Jordan tells Curtis that she’ll let him know what the professor says. She gives him a kiss through the bars, and tells him to stay warm.

Nelle says Nina doesn’t know how to answer a phone. She hardly knows what’s in the closet. Carly is reaching. She’s desperate, and scared. All these years, holding Michael under her thumb, and now it’s going to bite her. She’s going to drive him away, and into Nelle’s arms.

Sam tells Jason he should feel honored that Danny will sleep at his place. He wonders if he should let Danny bring the dog, but Sam says if he does, she’ll never get Danny out.

Oscar and Josslyn go into the walk-in freezer. They kiss, and the lights go out. Everything starts to shake. The freezer door slams shut. We see the Floating Rib, the Quartermaine mansion, all over Port Charles, and how the entire town is shaking. Everyone runs for cover, and dives under things.

On Monday, there goes the neighborhood.

😶 Useless information: I’m pretty sure Nelle’s backstory about possibly killing her fiancé by pulling the plug in his kayak (come on, it even sounds ridiculous), was taken from the real life story of Angelika Graswold. I recently watched an old Dateline or 20/20 that covered the story. Even though Angelika pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, they proved on the show that removing the plug would do virtually nothing.

🍨 MasterChef Junior was back tonight, with the girls cooking filet mignon, and the boys making a chicken dish. As usual, I was hypnotized and amazed by the cooking skills of kids who could be my grandchildren… almost. One kid committed the worst cooking sin ever – raw chicken. I have always cooked the crap out of chicken to avoid this. Eight kids each from both groups were chosen to receive aprons and continue on.

🏰 I missed the first episode of the last season of Once Upon a Time, as well as tonight’s, but hope to catch up On Demand and do a mini-recap. It’s hard to invest when you know it’s going to disappear, poof! in a puff of multi-colored smoke. It was inevitable once they took the Friday death knell spot.

🐹 Some Digression…

🍴 I’m loving Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block (watching it right now On Demand), but I consistently get the two main characters mixed up because the actresses look very much alike. They’re supposed to be sisters, so nothing strange about that, but it got me thinking about Samuel L. Jackson. How did I make that jump? Thanks for asking. Samuel apparently got pretty pissed at a news anchor who mixed him up with Laurence Fishburne, asking if the dude thought all Black people look alike. Well, I know I don’t, but I also mix them up. Because sometimes two people do look alike. I’ve mixed up Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall too. I’ve even confused Glenn Close with Meryl Streep. Does this make me some kind of bigot offshoot who thinks all actors look alike? Sometimes over-sensitivity annoys me.

📡 Quote of the Week

This one is so good, I wanted it to stand alone. The irony is that, from what I see on the internet, some of the very people who claim to follow Dr. King’s teachings, are the ones who don’t heed his words.

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.Martin Luther King, Jr.
