What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Britt’s cake is brought out by a shirtless waiter, and Brad says, they all know how much Britt hates the birthday song. Maxie says, but there’s one tradition they must insist on, and they both say, make a wish. Britt looks at everyone around her, and Finn looks at Elizabeth, who jets out of sight.

On deck, Trina says, she and Spencer should get back inside. People will wonder where they are. He says, that’s the idea; to get people wondering about them, so word gets back to Esme. Someone watches from the shadows.

Willow picks up a pair of 2023 eyeglasses, and Michael comes downstairs. He tells Willow that Wiley is completely zonked out, and she says, poor little guy. He was determined to make it until midnight. Michael says, he did see midnight, in London, and she says, it was genius on his part, but Wiley really wanted to stay up and ring in the New Year in Port Charles. She puts the glasses on him, and he says, there’s always next year.

Dante asks why Sam wanted to come to Kelly’s instead of staying at the restaurant, and she says, because nothing on their menu looked as good to her as an ice cream sundae. She hopes he’s not disappointed, but he says, nothing with her could disappoint him. He’s glad it’s just the two of them.

Outside, Josslyn apologizes for making bodyguard Steve wait outside. She just needs some privacy to talk to Cam. He tells her to take as long as she needs, and she goes inside. She sees Sam and Dante, and they all say, happy New Year. Dante asks, what brings her to Kelly’s on New Year’s Eve?

Laura says she’s not just worried about Nikolas; she’s worried about Spencer. If he knows something, he should tell her. He says he can’t, and she says, why? Has Victor threatened him? He says, no one is at risk if they play Victor’s game, but if she insists on taking Victor down, he’ll go down with him. Leave him alone, or she’ll lose her son. She says she’s not going to let Victor do this to him. Victor can’t take Nikolas away from her. He says, don’t be so sure, and she asks if he’s fallen so far that Victor is his only way back.

Esme says, one day Ace will go to school, and she’ll teach them about the fire triangle, the three things you need to start a fire; oxygen, fuel, and heat. She takes the matchstick out of her cardigan pocket, and smiles.

Britt says, she wishes… but Maxie says, don’t. Brad says, her wish won’t come true, and Britt says, forgive her; it’s her first birthday party. In a low voice, Austin tells her, there’s still time. She can change her mind and stay. She blows out the candles, but only on one part of the cake. Maxie says she knows Britt’s new to this, but tradition is that she blow out all the candles. Nina blows out the rest because she can’t help herself, and everyone applauds. Brad picks up a knife, and asks if Britt will do the honor of performing surgery on her cake. Britt’s hand trembles slightly, and Terry says, she needs the practice for all those surgeries she’ll be picking up while Britt is on vacation. She takes the knife from Brad, and cuts the cake. Britt squeals, and everyone applauds. Terry puts a piece of cake on a plate, and Brad says, the birthday girl gets the first slice, giving it to Britt. Drag queen Alyssa says, besides cake, they have another special treat for the birthday girl. Mommy dearest, you’re on. Obrecht takes the stage, and says, this is a song she sang at the Nurses Ball, which brought the house down if she does say so herself. Everyone cheers.

Finn finds Elizabeth on deck, and says he knows it’s none of his business, but he’s still a doctor and still cares about her. Drinking this early in her pregnancy isn’t good for the baby. She tells him, there is no baby.

Spencer tells Trina, just a little longer. They want everyone to miss them, remember? She says, this is a very dangerous game, and he takes her hand, saying, it’s not all a game. The lurker starts to walk out to the deck.

The woman behind the counter tells Josslyn that Cameron isn’t there; he’s filling in for one of the catering crew. Josslyn asks when he’ll be back, but she says, not until after midnight. Josslyn guesses she’ll have to talk to him another time, and tells Sam and Dante, happy New Year. She starts to leave, and Sam makes a face at Dante. He gets up, and tells Josslyn, wait. What’s the rush? Does she want to join them?

Nikolas says he’s the only one to blame for the errors in his judgement, and won’t let Laura get involved. She says she is involved, and he says, it’s like he made it his life’s work to disappoint her. She tells him not to say that. There is nothing he could ever do to make her stop loving him. The Cassadines have been trying to take him away from her since the day he was born, and she’s not going to let them win. He says he loves her fighting for him, but it’s not just about him.

Esme looks at the fire alarm, and says, it’s a long shot. She may get trapped, instead of finding a way to escape, but it’s the only chance she’s got. No. The only chance they’ve got. Brace yourself. It won’t be long now.

Scotty says, Obrecht was wunderbar, and Nina says, a real star. Too bad we didn’t get to see it. Britt hugs Obrecht, and says she wishes there could be an encore. Obrecht tells her, there will be if she has anything to say about it.

Finn says, what does Elizabeth mean, there’s no baby? and she says she had a miscarriage.

Nina tells Sonny, it may be Britt’s first birthday party, but she did it right. Everyone’s enjoying it. He says he’s happy as long as Nina enjoys it.

Trina says, the other guests must be asking about them by now, and Spencer says, if they are, then good. It’ll get back to Esme. She says, they should get back, and he says, yeah. They hear something, and she says, what was that? He says he doesn’t know, but we see it’s The Hook who’s lurking. She says, it’s probably the people at the party.

Willow says, it’s fine if Michael opens a bottle of champagne. She won’t feel deprived. He tells her, don’t be so noble; he knows she loves champagne. She says she does, especially the kind he buys. Since they have a rack full of it, open one. He says, so he can have champagne while she goes without? No. She says she’s happy with her sparkling cider, and he says, so is he. They’ll have champagne next year. She says she thought they were celebrating with Wiley next year, but he says, they can do both. Champagne for them, and cider for Wiley. They can wake up the baby, and they can ring in the new year together. She says, nothing says happy New Year like a screaming baby, but he says, maybe their daughter will be a night owl, and she’ll like staying up until midnight. She says, then he can be the one to get her back to sleep, and he says, she has his solemn promise. She says, what if she’s not here next year?

Finn says he’s sorry for Elizabeth’s loss, and she thanks him. She says she wouldn’t blame him if he said it was some kind of poetic justice, but he tells her that he’d never say that. She and Nikolas could try again. She says, she and Nikolas were never going to last. Ava knows, but she never told the boys. Not that he owes her anything… He says, they won’t hear it from him; no one will. She thanks him, and he tells her, happy New Year. He goes back inside, passing Terry, who’s on her way out to the deck. Elizabeth says, Terry probably wants to know what that was all about, and Terry says, when Elizabeth is ready, she’ll tell her, or not. They hug.

Scotty takes the mic, and asks for everyone’s attention. Sonny says, Scotty’s not going to sing, is he? and Scotty says, he couldn’t carry a tune if it had handles. So if there’s no more hecklers, let’s get on with this. They had great music, and had a great cake, but there’s one thing missing. Britt says, presents? and everyone goes, wooo!

Josslyn gets a sundae, and says, Dante and Sam are super dressed up. Are they going somewhere fancy to watch the ball drop? Sam says, they did fancy. Now they’re just enjoying sundaes. Josslyn says, it’s a fun way to start the new year. She bets they’re excited. Dante says he’s excited for all the cool projects they have planned, and Sam says, their New Year’s resolution is a do-it-yourself remodel of the den. What about Josslyn? Any resolutions? Josslyn says, to become a doctor, and Dante asks, since when? She says, a lot of it has to do with when she found Ava after she’d been stabbed. She felt so helpless; she didn’t know what to do for her. Then she realized she can learn what to do, so she submitted her application to switch her major to pre-med. Dante says, she’s going to be an incredible doctor, and Sam says, good for Josslyn, to go through something terrible, and find a positive way to take action. Josslyn thanks her, and says she hopes the police find Esme, lock her up, and throw away the key. Dante says he wants to catch The Hook too, but they don’t know that it’s Esme for sure. She knows what happens when they jump to conclusions, right? Sam asks what she’s missing, and Dante says, for a while, Sonny thought Dex was behind the killings.

Nikolas tells Laura that he should have never come back to Port Charles. He would have done everyone a favor if he’d stayed dead. She tells him, don’t ever say that. She was heartbroken when she thought she’d lost him, and that’s when Spencer began to spiral. Actually, she doesn’t think he ever recovered from it. They need Nikolas to fight for himself and fight for them. If he gives in to Victor now, Victor will never let go. He says, what if it’s too late? but she says, it is not too late. She’ll back him up with every possible resource she can muster. Everything, she promises. If he could have a clean slate – wipe it clean, and start over – would he do it? He asks if it’s possible, and she says, yes. It is. It’s never too late. It can start tonight. All he has to do is decide. Does he belong to Victor or does he belong to himself?

As The Hook raises her hook, Trina says she hopes Joss and Cam will join them before midnight, and Spencer says, they will, if Cam gets off in time. Maxie calls to them, and asks what they’re doing out here. They’re missing all the fun. The Hook shrinks back in the shadows, and Maxie says, there’s cake and birthday presents, and Spencer says, they were just getting a breath of fresh air. Maxie says, in the cold? and Trina says, they didn’t realize how long they were out there, handing Spencer back his coat. Spencer says, it didn’t feel that cold to him, and they all go inside, while The Hook goes back to lurking.

Esme takes an ornament off the tree, and says, something to remember their first Christmas by. She puts it in her cardigan pocket.

Taking the mic, Maxie says, after a slight delay to round up some stragglers, it’s time to get back to the business at hand. She tells Britt, some of her nearest and dearest worked together to give her a very special birthday present. Obrecht gives Britt a box, and Britt thanks everyone. She opens it, and says, a remote control. Brad says, bring it in, boys, and the waiters roll in a giant TV. Sonny asks if Nina has any idea what’s going on, but she says, just watch. Brad says, lights, camera, action, and tells Britt, press play. Obrecht says, Britta Westbourne, this is your life. A song presumably called I Am Here to Win plays, and pictures and videos of Britt’s life come on the screen – baby pictures, pictures of her growing up, her graduations, with Nathan, Nina, Obrecht, Finn, Terry, Epiphany <sniff>, Brad, Brad, Brad, Cody, Carly, Austin, and Spencer.

Josslyn says, if Dante is asking about what Sonny did to Dex, he already knows the answer. Dante says, Michael made some serious allegations, and Dex denied them, and Josslyn says, lucky him. Sam asks why Dante is lucky, and Josslyn says, because he doesn’t have to arrest his own father. Michael was worried, because he didn’t want Dante stuck in the middle, even though he is. Sonny put him there, and keeps putting him there. Dante says, Sonny has been who Sonny has been long before he came to town, and Josslyn says, there he goes, making excuses. Dante asks if that’s what he’s doing, and Josslyn says she can’t tell Dante how to feel. All she can tell him is how she feels, and she feels Sonny’s a fraud. All of that talk about honor and loyalty is just words; he doesn’t live it. Dante does. He’s a good cop. He puts his life on the line to protect and serve, while Sonny sits back and lets other people put their lives on the line. To what? Make him richer? Then when he almost kills someone, he expects them to lie and cover for him. Now Sonny is protecting her. Is she supposed to feel grateful? That’s not happening.

Britt’s Memory Lane ends with a video of her waving goodbye. Everyone applauds, and Brad says, speech. Britt thanks everyone, and says, that was… Brad says, fantastic? and Maxie says, terrific? Britt says, that was one of the nicest things anyone’s ever done for her. She did prepare a speech, but being here now, and seeing their faces, faces she loves, she wants them to know how very, very much… She gets choked up, and Maxie says, blame Austin; it was his idea. Austin says, and in case she doesn’t want to haul a huge monitor around with her, they got her this cute digital frame. Maxie says, she, Brad, and Liesl have the password, so they can upload photos. That way, they can be with her, on vacation or where she goes. Britt hugs Austin, and thanks him.

Nikolas tells Laura, happy New Year, but she says she doesn’t think it’s midnight yet. He still has time to make a New Year’s resolution. He promises to think about what she said, and if there’s a way to disentangle himself from Victor… She says, they can manage on their own. Throw him out, change the locks, then stand back and dare him to do his worst. Because Nikolas isn’t just a Cassadine, he’s her son, and he’s Spencer’s father, and as long as they stick together, they’ll be just fine. She tells him that she loves him, and they hug

Esme tells Ace, no matter what happens, no matter how scary it gets, remember mommy is with you. Womb to tomb. She looks at the smoke alarm, and lights the match.

Nina and Sonny come out on deck, and she asks why he’s taking her away from the party. He says, don’t worry. He’ll have her back before the ball drops. She asks if he’ll have her back before she freezes to death, and he puts his arm around her, asking if she’s warm now. She says she’s getting there, and he asks if she remembers last New Year’s Eve. She says, when he was at Charlie’s, and he says he was at a tough point in his life. Dante grabbed his keys and wouldn’t let him go home, then Nina came along. She says she took him home, and thought that would be the end of them. That he’d sober up the next day, and go back to Carly. He says, here they are a year later. Is she sorry about how it ended? She puts her arms around him, and tells him, who said it was ending? They’ve only just begun. He tells her to kiss him, and she does.

Nikolas pours a drink, when the fire alarm goes off. He runs upstairs. In her now smoke filled room, the tree ablaze, Esme says, maybe this wasn’t such a brilliant plan after all. She watches the door.

Britt thanks Spencer for coming, and he says he woudn’t miss it for the world. She asks where his plus one is, and he calls Trina over. He says, there’s someone he’d like her to meet, and Trina wishes Britt a happy birthday. Spencer says he was telling Trina how much Britt means to him and how alike they are. Britt says she hopes not, and tells Trina, if she’s truly Spencer’s friend, make sure he doesn’t end up like her. He says he’d be proud to be like her, they hug, and Britt mouths he’s the best to Trina. Brad tells them, break it up. It’s the last dance before the year ends. He pulls Britt away, and Spencer asks what Britt said over his shoulder. Trina says she’ll never tell, and leads him onto the dance floor.

Josslyn tells Dante that she’s sorry. She didn’t mean to go off like that. It’s not the best way to ring in the new year. Sam says, Dante started it, and Dante says, he kinda did. Josslyn tells him, all she’s trying to say is that she thinks he’s awesome, and she’s sorry he’s stuck in this position. He thanks her, but says, don’t feel sorry for him. He’s a lucky guy for many reasons. Sam says, and don’t you forget it. She asks if she can make an observation, and Josslyn says, please; she has it coming. Sam says she thinks Josslyn is smart and strong, especially since she realizes she wants to become a doctor. Focus on that. Being hung up on Sonny is a waste. She has better things to do with her time. Josslyn thanks her, and says she’ll try to remember that. Dante says, it’s almost midnight. Times Square might have the crowds, but Port Charles has the fireworks. It’s a pretty good view. He asks if Josslyn wants to join them, and she thanks him for the invitation, but she wants to try and make Britt’s birthday party. They all wish each other a happy New Year, and Josslyn leaves. Outside, Josslyn tells Steve that she’s going to head home and change, then go to the party at the Haunted Star. Sonny will be there; he doesn’t have to worry. He follows her out of the gate.

Willow tells Michael, sorry. They were having such a nice time, and she… She was going to say killed the mood, but that sounds morbid. He says, she can be morbid, scared, or angry. She doesn’t have to put up a front for him. Wiley is a child and has to feel secure, so she has to pretend with him, but she doesn’t have to pretend with him. She says she’s not pretending. That’s the crazy part. As scared as she is that she’s going to die, this is the happiest time of her life. She loves him, she loves Wiley, she loves their daughter, she loves where they live, with his squabbling relative right up the driveway. There was a long time when she was alone, and now her life is so rich, and so full, beyond anything she could have imagined. Most of it came from him. He thinks her, but says he thinks he got the better half of the bargain. She changed his life. It wasn’t a bad life before. He’s been blessed with a lot, and knows he’s lucky, but with her, he has a connection he’s never felt with anyone. He loves the trust and compatibility. He know he sounds unromantic… She says, not to her. She feels compatible with him too. He says, hold that thought.

Nikolas unlocks Esme’s room, and goes in with a fire extinguisher. As he sprays it and calls her name, she runs out.

Michael shows Willow a ring, and says, remember this? She says, it’s his great-grandmother’s ring, and he says, to him, it’s Willow’s ring. It has been since she accepted it the first time. She says she gave it back when they had their marriage annulled, and he says he hated signing those papers. She says, so did she, and he says, it’s a family heirloom. He could have put it back with his great grandmother’s jewelry, but he held on to it, hoping she’d accept it again – but this time forever. He gets down on one knee, and asks her to marry him.

Esme runs out on the parapet, coughing. She says, let mommy catch her breath. Then they’re out of here. She hears a door close, and Nikolas is on the parapet with her.

Sonny and Nina come back inside, and Spencer says, nice up there, huh? Nina says, it’s beautiful, and Spencer says, they thought so too, putting his arm around Trina. Alyssa says, okay, party people. It’s that time. Out with the old year, and in with the new. So chill the champagne, grab someone you love, or at least you don’t hate, and get ready for the countdown. Finn looks at Elizabeth.

Nikolas tells Esme, she took her best shot. The fire is out, and there’s only one way out, which is down. Or did she forget last time? She says she hasn’t forgotten, and he says he knows she cares about the baby. Once they get to Cassadine Island, she’ll have everything she needs or wants until the baby is born. He promises her. Just take his hand. She hoists herself up, and stands on the wall. She looks down.

Everyone gets coupled up, and Finn starts to leave. Austin asks where he’s going, and Finn says, the emcee said you should be with someone you love, so he’s going home to bring in the new year with his daughter. He leaves, and Britt hugs Austin, thanking him for the gift. Being quiet about where she’s going has given everyone she loves something to remember her by. Alyssa begins the countdown, 10…9… 8…

Willow says, yes, with all her heart she’ll marry Michael. He puts the ring on her, and says, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. She says, as long as they both shall live, and they kiss.

7…6…

Dante wonders if he should have driven Josslyn, but Sam says, she has Sonny’s bodyguard. She’s probably having fun at the party right now. Truth? He says, of course (🍷), and she says she didn’t really want to share him tonight, and they kiss.

5… 4… 3… 2… 1! Happy New Year! Horns blow and noisemakers make noise, and Austin watches Britt slip out. Scotty kisses Obrecht, and Sonny kisses Nina. Spencer and Trina get close enough to kiss, but he blows a noisemaker instead. Elizabeth hugs Terry, and Terry says, it’s going to be a better year for Elizabeth; she promises. Elizabeth says, it has to be. For Terry as well. Terry says she’ll drink to that, and they clink glasses. Maxie asks if Austin has seen Britt, and Brad says, she’s missing the best part of the party. Austin tells them, say what you will about Britt, that woman knows how to make an exit. Happy New Year. The three of them clink glasses

Nikolas asks what Esme is doing, and tells her, get down. She says she’s survived the drop once before, and she’ll do it again. He watches as she falls backward.

All dressed up, Josslyn waits at the docks. So does The Hook, who comes out of the shadows.

Next week, Dante asks Sam what justice looks like when it’s applied to his father; Britt says, ten minutes before she says goodbye to Port Charles; Nikolas tells Elizabeth, no one is going to know; and The Hook comes for Josslyn.

Just a thought, but what the hell was Steve thinking, letting Josslyn wait on the docks all by herself? I knew she said Sonny was going to be at the party, but the party was not on the docks. He should have made sure she got on the boat safely. He’s fired.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Terry sees Finn at Britt’s party, and says, Elizabeth must have dragged him here, since it’s not his scene. She asks where Elizabeth is.

Elizabeth gives Nikolas a list of stuff Esme will need in the coming weeks, and he says he’ll take care of it. She says, and she’ll take care of Esme, and he says he appreciates all she’s done. She says she’s not doing it for him, and goes upstairs. The doorbell rings, and Nikolas opens the door to Laura, who tells him, Happy New Year. He says, it’s not a good time, and she says she’s sorry to hear that, and walks in.

Trina finds Spencer sitting on the deck steps on the Haunted Star. She apologizes for being late, and asks if he was waiting long. He says, it’s worth the wait; she looks beautiful. She says, him too… He knows what she means. He asks if she’s ready to do this, and she says, be seen together to generate a buzz? He suggests they post a photo on social media, and she says, they can make Esme jealous enough to become reckless. He says, one look at her, and mission accomplished, and takes the photo. Sonny and Nina board the boat, and Sonny says, when Kristina said she saw Spencer at Christmas, he said, that’s impossible. His nephew wouldn’t show up in Port Charles without coming to see him.

Michael meets Dex at the docks, and Dex says, Sonny’s cutting a deal. Michael asks, with who? and Dex says, with someone he’ll regret doing business with.

Esme’s door opens, and she says, oh, it’s Elizabeth. Kind of overdressed for nursing a prisoner, isn’t she? Elizabeth asks how she is, and Esme says, like she cares. Elizabeth says, Esme and her baby have been on her mind a lot lately, and Esme tells her, it’s not too late. Help her get out of here. Not for her sake, but for the baby.

We see a sign that says, Britch Fest! with a caricature of a woman (presumably Britt) in a martini glass. Britt comes in with Obrecht, and takes a drink from the tray of a shirtless waiter, saying, happy birthday to me. She and Obrecht clink glasses, and Obrecht says, he has nothing on mein Scotty. She goes off to find him, and Maxie and Brad join Britt. Maxie says, fashionably late she sees, and Britt says she wanted to make an entrance. Brad says she did; that ensemble is smokin’. Britt says, that’s the plan. Good job on the waiters. She knows it was Brad’s contribution. She tells Maxie, everything looks gorgeous, and Maxie tells her to note it’s prosecco, not champagne. Britt says, Maxie knows her well. Austin comes over and says, Maxie looks great. He knows Britt is his boss, but can he say, wow. She says, just for tonight, and Maxie says she and Brad are going to check on some other surprises they have up their sleeve. They leave, and Britt says, they went to so much trouble. Austin says, they love her and want to make her happy. So she should consider how they’re going to feel when they find out it’s their last opportunity.

Spencer says he’s sorry. He’d meant to come by and thank Sonny for looking out for him in Pentenville. He truly appreciated it. It’s just that so much has happened since he got out… Sonny says, relax. He’s just happy to see Spencer. They hug, and Spencer says, hopefully, he won’t need any more favors from Sonny. Nina says she was sorry to hear about Trina’s friend, Officer Cabrera, and Sonny says he heard Rory was a very good man. Trina says, he was a very good man; too good. Spencer says, Rory was there for Trina when she needed support, and Nina says, they’re going inside, and will see them later. Trina thanks Spencer for what he said about Rory, and for helping bring his killer to justice. Spencer says, she knows he’d do anything for her, but this isn’t just for her. He’s the one who brought Esme to Port Charles. That makes it his responsibility to rid the city of her forever.

Inside, Sonny says, looks like Britt went all out, and Nina says she appreciates him coming out with her. This is a bit more lively than their New Year’s Eve last year. He says she doesn’t have to thank him. He likes being by her side. She says, it’s important for her to be there for Britt. She, Britt, and Maxie made a sister pact, and they’ve been close ever since. She just wants more time with Britt. He says, Huntington’s is like Alzheimer’s. It’s a no joke disease, and she’s going to have a rough road ahead.

Austin tells Britt to just hear him out. He doesn’t think it’s a good idea, this whole running away thing. She swears if he starts hounding her, she’ll throw him overboard. And to be clear, she’s not running away. She’s making a graceful exit. He says, there’s still time to rethink that, but she says, not much. In four hours, when the countdown begins, and the topless hotties are topping off drinks, she’ll slip away, with a one-way ticket to destiny.

Finn asks where Yuri is, and Terry says, he’s sick. It’s adorable how the biggest, toughest men become babies when they get the sniffles. (She can say this because she’s not living with one.) He says, it’s a good thing Yuri knows a doctor, and she says, it’s nice to have someone to take care of, and be taken care of in return.

Laura says she knows Nikolas prefers she call before she comes over, but she didn’t want to give him the opportunity to come up with an excuse not to talk to her. He says, about what? and she says she spoke with his uncle. He asks what Victor said, but she says, no, Cyrus. She went to visit him in Pentenville. He asks what possessed her to do that, and she tells him, Cyrus said he had some information about their family. It got her to wondering what else she doesn’t know. He says, about Cyrus? but she says, about him. Nikolas told her that he’d betrayed all the people he loved the most. Can he tell her what he meant by that?

Esme says, Elizabeth cares so much about this baby, yet won’t help her, even though Elizabeth knows she didn’t hurt anyone. Elizabeth says, maybe Esme didn’t kill anyone, but she hurt a lot of people, her son included. Esme says, so this is about revenge, but Elizabeth says, it’s not. The way she sees it, Esme has two options. She can stay in this tower or face prosecution for the slew of crimes she’ll be charged with if Elizabeth turns her in. Esme says, there’s a third option. Set her free so she can leave town and raise her baby. Elizabeth asks why she’d do that. It wasn’t that long ago Esme threatened a hunger strike, and refused to take her prenatal vitamins. Esme says, she’s desperate. Can’t Elizabeth see that? She swears she’ll take care of this baby, but she needs to be free so they can be safe. Elizabeth says, on the run, no family resources, constantly looking over her shoulder. How is that any safer than a roof over her head, nutritious meals, and consistent care? Esme says, because she won’t have to live with the fear that Nikolas will kill her as soon as she gives birth.

Sonny asks where Nina went just now, but she tells him not to pay attention to her. It’s a celebration, and she refuses to be a buzzkill. He says, she can tell him anything, and she says she was thinking about her brother and Nelle, and how now she doesn’t get to see Wiley anymore. Her family is very small, and the thought of losing Britt… He says he gets it. He lost his dad; he lost Brando. Now he can’t see Michael or Wiley. Michael is going to have another child, and is he not going to be able to see that child?  Probably not. She says, he has to pay a big price to have her in his life.

At Britt’s party, Sirens blare, and someone is brought out in a wheelchair. Drag queen Alyssa Edwards pops up, and spins around. She says, they’re all so hot, she may have smoke inhalation, and asks if there’s a doctor in the house. Brad says, yes, there is, and she loves to dance. He pulls Britt over, she and the Alyssa air kiss, and everyone starts to dance. I want to be at this party.

Nikolas says, he and Ava have been struggling for months, but Laura says, this is not about Ava. That’s not a reason Spencer would turn his back on Nikolas. His son just got out of prison; that should matter to him. He should be spending time with Spencer tonight, working on their relationship. Where is Spencer? Does Nikolas know? Does he care? He says, of course (🍷) he cares, and she asks what he’s done for his son to alienate him. She does know it’s New Year’s Eve, right?

Elizabeth says, if Esme is worried Nikolas is going to harm her, that’s not the plan. Esme says, maybe not the plan he shared with Elizabeth, and Elizabeth tells her, lie back, preparing to listen to the baby’s heartbeat. She says, maybe Esme is judging Nikolas based on her own standards. She’s wrong about Nikolas, and wrong about her too. She’s not going to let anything happen to Esme. They listen, and she says, strong heartbeat. Esme smiles, and Elizabeth asks if she’s in any discomfort or pain. Esme says, no, and Elizabeth asks if she has any other concerns. Esme says, what if there are complications? but Elizabeth says, so far, her pregnancy is progressing typically. Esme says, so far, but she’s only seen one ultrasound since she’s been pregnant, and nothing since. Elizabeth says she’s assisted in a lot of births – three of her own –  and Esme doesn’t have to worry. Women have been giving birth since the dawn of time. Esme says, Elizabeth talks like she’s a patient in a maternity ward, and she’s not; she’s a prisoner. Elizabeth is right. She’s hurt people; people who didn’t deserve it, especially Cam. But what if Elizabeth is hurting the baby by helping Nikolas? Can she live with that?

Dex says, Sonny met with a representative from Pikeman Security Group, and Michael says, they’re military contractors. They do everything from weapon design to manufacturing logistics and private squads of soldiers. What do they want from Sonny? Dex says, they want to move their product through Port Charles; they want Sonny to facilitate. Michael says, Pikeman is paying Sonny to smuggle military weapons. That’s as illegal as it gets.

Trina says, maybe Spencer is the reason Esme came to Port Charles, but she’s responsible for the devastation she caused, for the lives she’s ruined, and the ones she’s taken… if it was Esme. He says, come again? and she says, Ava told her, Ryan is convinced Esme’s not the killer. He says, like they can trust a word Ryan… blinks, and she says, maybe not, but what if they’re wrong? What if Esme’s not the killer? What if it’s someone they never even suspected? Someone who could be on this ship with them at this very moment.

Britt puts her arms around Brad and Maxie, and asks where they got Alyssa. Maxie asks if she’s surprised, and Britt says, is she ever. She loves it all. She’s never going to forget this as long as she lives.

Austin looks at a waiter’s back, and says, it’s good he asked. It’s probably just a mole, but he’d get it checked out. The waiter moves on, and Obrecht asks if Austin is on the clock. Austin says, always. She knows how it is when people find out you’re a doctor. She says, that ends when you lose your license. She hasn’t always been his biggest fan, but he’s been a good friend to her daughter. She’s grateful. He thanks her for saying that. It’s been a pleasure getting to know Britt. She says she hopes it continues. Britt needs her friends now.

Terry asks Finn if Elizabeth is showing up later or… He says he’s really not sure, and she says, Elizabeth has been hard to pin down lately. She might have to page her at GH just to catch up. Is Elizabeth okay? He says he would be the wrong guy to ask.

Esme says, help her get away, so she can be free to raise her baby in peace, and Elizabeth says she was right. Esme does care about this child. Esme says she doesn’t know if she’s mom material. She can be selfish and willful, but she does know that even if neither of them is innocent, this baby is, and she wants to give him or her a better start in life than she had. Elizabeth starts to pack up, and says she’s going to ask Nikolas to order a portable ultrasound machine. Next time, maybe they can do a scan, and give Esme a picture of her baby. Esme asks, what if it shows something bad? and Elizabeth says, they’ll cross that bridge when they come to it. If they come to it. She doesn’t want Esme to worry. She heads for the door, and Esme says, why worry when life is so wonderful. Have fun at your party. Elizabeth leaves, and Esme smiles at the Christmas tree.

Nikolas says he’s let Spencer down many times, but Laura says, that doesn’t explain why he had such a big reaction to Nikolas being unfaithful to Ava. He says, Spencer is disappointed that he’s set such a poor example, and she says, unless it’s not that Nikolas had an affair, but who he had the affair with. Who is she? He says he doesn’t want to discuss it, and she says she doesn’t really want to discuss it either, but this has affected their whole family, so she’d like to know. Elizabeth says she’s leaving now, and stops short when she sees Laura. She tells Laura hello, and says she didn’t realize Nikolas had company. Laura says, that makes two of them, and tells Elizabeth that she looks beautiful. Elizabeth thanks her, and says she’s going to Britt’s party. She’s going to be late, so she’d better go. Laura says, stay safe, have fun. Maybe they can get together soon. They have a lot of catching up to do. Elizabeth says she’d like that, and tells them, goodnight and happy new year. Nikolas says, happy new year to her too, and thanks her for stopping by. She leaves, and Laura says, please tell her it’s not Elizabeth.

Dex tells Michael, the Pikeman rep, a guy named Hume, handed Sonny a briefcase full of cash just for showing up. Michael says, so Sonny draws the line at drugs, but he’s willing to ship weapons of war, and Dex says, there’s only two reasons people want to ship under cloak of darkness. Either what they’re moving is dirty, or what they’re moving is being supplied to dirty people. Michael says, in this case, both, and Dex says, this deal is extremely lucrative for Sonny, but also extremely dicey. Michael says, this is it. This is how they bring Sonny down. Dex says, this isn’t like busting Sonny on RICO violations. Pikeman had contractors in Afghanistan; they’re heavy hitters. Think twice before messing with them. Michael asks if Dex is backing out.

Sonny says, the other day, Nina was worried about how she didn’t want to get close to Donna, but Nina says she was just having a moment. She didn’t mean to be so maudlin. He says he’s been thinking about what she said; that she didn’t want to latch on to Donna to fill a void. She says, it’s actually kind of embarrassing, that whole conversation, and he says, isn’t that what loved ones are supposed to do for us? Fill that space inside of us when we lose somebody or feel alone? She says she supposes so, and he says, that’s what she did for him. She takes his hand, and says, that’s what he does for her. He says he wants her to latch on to him, Donna, and Avery. She’s got more family than she knows. She kisses him.

Laura says, Nikolas cheated on Ava with Elizabeth? but he says he told her he doesn’t want to discuss it. She says, too late; he already confirmed it. Does he have any idea how fragile Elizabeth is right now? He says, it’s over, but she says, it doesn’t matter if it’s over; the damage has been done. No wonder Spencer is so upset; she’s family. Her sons are his cousins. What was Nikolas thinking? He says he and Elizabeth have a past, and she says, it should have stayed in the past. She thought the two of them were just friends. Does Finn know? He says, he and Elizabeth hate that they hurt Finn and Ava. That’s why they wanted to keep it quiet. They don’t want to cause any more pain. She says, no one will hear anything from her. But don’t kid himself. Secrets like this are impossible to keep. He notices the list Elizabeth left on the desk.

Dex says he’s not looking for a way out, and Michael says, good, because he needs updates on every step of this partnership between Sonny and Pikeman. He means names, dates, shipping container numbers, bills of lading, all of that. Dex says he just wants to be sure Michael knows what he’s getting himself into. Any evidence they get against Sonny will also be evidence against Pikeman. Who even knows how many laws they’re breaking by shipping this stuff? If they connect it back to him and Michael, it could get messy.

As he lights the candles, Esme says, Demetrius didn’t forget a single detail of that special meal she told him about. He remembered everything. He says, she doesn’t have to feel alone, and she pats the spot next to her on the bed, saying, join me?

Spencer puts his jacket around Trina’s shoulders, and she says, thanks, but no one’s watching them. He asks if he can’t be a friend while at the same time being a gentleman. With all due respect to Ava, he does think Esme is the likeliest suspect. She says, okay, boss. All due respect to Ava? That must have been some talk they had. He says, he and ava are never going to like each other, but Ava cares about Trina, and he knows Trina cares about her. That he can respect. She says she has something to clear up. At her party, she said they’re not friends. He says he recalls, and she says she’s sorry. She didn’t mean it. She was upset and hurt… He says he’s glad to hear it. Not that she was upset and hurt, but that they can still be friends. He doesn’t have many of those. She says, he has her, Joss, and Cam – and Britt. That’s respectable. He says, that would be the first time he’s heard the word respectable applied to him, and she says, there’s a first time for everything. He says he really is grateful, especially since he hurt them all, Britt included. She says, Britt means a lot to him, huh? and he says, she was always there when he was a kid. She stuck by his side from his bratty juvenile shenanigans to the wreck of things he’s made since he got back. He and Britt have a lot in common. They tend to push away the people in their lives they so desperately need.

Britt dances with Brad, Maxie, and one of the waiters. She dances over to Obrecht, who tells her, be careful. Don’t over-do it. Britt asks if that’s not what tonight is for, and Obrecht says she’s glad Britt is enjoying herself, she can’t get over tired; it takes a toll. Britt tells her, mutter, stop worrying, but Obrecht says she is Britt’s mutter; it’s her job to worry about Britt. Britt says, not tonight. Tonight, her job is to have fun. Please. It’s important to her. She’s so happy Obrecht has Scotty. Life will never be dull with him. Sonny brings Nina over, and Nina says, Britt looks cover worthy. Sonny says, great party, and asks how Obrecht is doing. She says, all is well, and asks them to excuse her; mein Scotty needs me. Nina asks Britt to please tell her that she’s having the time of her life, and Britt says she is. She says, Nina doesn’t need to look at her like that, and Nina says, like what? Britt says, like she’s the walking dead.

Terry asks Finn, what’s going on? and he says he and Elizabeth broke up. She says, Elizabeth didn’t breathe a word, and he says he’s not surprised. It was sudden. She asks, what happened? and they see Elizabeth walk in. She and Finn look at each other.

Nikolas grabs the list, and throws it in a drawer. He tells Laura that it pains him that he’s disappointed her again, but she says, it’s okay. She’s just worried about Spencer. He just got out of prison, and he’s coming home to this chaos. Nikolas says he’ll be a better father going forward, and Laura says, if Spencer gives him the opportunity. He says, Spencer can’t completely distance himself. His release is contingent on Victor’s custody, and Victor insists on staying at Windymere. She asks if he’s saying Spencer is legally in Victor’s custody, and he asks if it matters. She says, oh my God, yes. Victor only acts in his own self-interest. Sooner or later he’s going to use Spencer. She can’t let that happen. He asks what she’s going to do, and she says, whatever it takes, but he says, she’s no match for Victor. Leave it alone.

Britt says, they don’t have to pretend. Her mother told her that she told them. Sonny says, we just never know how much time we have in life. Look at Jason. What matters is what we do with the time we have. Nina says, how we spend our time; who we spend our time with. She takes Britt’s hand, and says, this party was a great idea. Sonny says, Jason would want to see her getting all she can out of life.

Finn walks off, and Terry says, got anything she wants to tell her? Elizabeth says, maybe one or two.

Alyssa takes the mic, and says, ladies, gents, them/theys and anyone else here to slay. Tonight is about honoring that other infamous Queen B. The MD with the B-day, Dr. Britt Westbourne. Everyone applauds, and Alyssa says, Britt’s partner in wine Brad tells her, when they’re not busy reading red carpet fashion for filth or murdering mimosas, their favorite pastime is dusting their karaoke competition. We have a mic. We have a stage. We just need two showboats willing to serve. Come make some noise for Brad and The Britch. Britt and Brad take the stage to cheers and whistles, and Britt asks what they’re going to sing. He says, it’s handled, and the music starts. They sing I Knew You Were Waiting (George Michael). There are more cheers and applause.

Terry asks why she had to find out from Finn that he and Elizabeth broke up. Explain yourself, missy. Elizabeth grabs a shot off a tray going by, and downs it. Alyssa goes on stage, and says, okay boys. Show the birthday girl what you’ve got. The waiters bring out a cake with lit candles, and Brad tells Britt, don’t worry. They all know how much she hates the birthday song. Maxie says, but there’s one tradition they must insist on. She and Brad say, make a wish, and Britt goes over to the cake. She looks at everyone around her, and says, okay.

Michael tells Dex, just get the evidence against Sonny. He’ll make sure it gets into the right hands, and doesn’t implicate either one of them. Dex says, if they expose Sonny, Sonny will have a target on his back; with the law and Pikeman. Michael says, he’ll be better off in custody, and Dex says, if he’s convicted of the charges he’ll be facing, he’ll be in prison for a very long time, possibly forever. Is Michael prepared for that? Michael says he always knew what Sonny was capable of; torturing Dex was a new low. This, running weapons through a back channel for a military organization, is not the father he knew. He doesn’t want Sonny near his family. So to answer Dex’s question, forever’s fine with him. I guess collateral damage isn’t a term Michael is familiar with? Or maybe how anyone else might feel? Like Sonny’s kids? Michael pisses me off.

Nikolas tells Laura, for his sake, don’t antagonize Victor. Victor can accuse him of terrible things. Laura asks if Victor has proof, but Nikolas says he can’t get into it. She says, then she can’t help him, and he asks what she means. She says, it’s not just about him. She’s also very worried about Spencer. If he knows something, he should tell her. He says he can’t, and she says, why? Has Victor threatened him? He says, no one is at risk if they play Victor’s game. But if she takes down Victor, she takes him down. Leave it alone or she’ll lose her son.

Esme sits at a small table in front of her finished dinner, and tells Demetrius, the steak is delicious. She’s sorry he couldn’t join her. He says he’s glad she enjoyed it, and she raises her glass, saying, to kindness, found in the most unexpected places. She pretends to swallow the wrong way, and starts coughing. She gets up, Demetrius handing her a napkin. He goes to the door, unlocks it, and she thanks him. She says, it’s meant more to her than he’ll ever know. Happy new year. He says, happy new year in Greek, and blows out the candles. He takes the tray out, and she takes a matchstick out of her cardigan pocket. She says, and happy new year to us, Ace.

Trina says, they should head inside, but Spencer says, five more minutes. She says, nobody will see them on deck, and he says, the buzz can be that they stole some time alone. She says, they’ll assume she got emotional, and needed some air. He says, and he came out to check on her, and she says, and she leaned on him for comfort? He buttons the jacket on her, and says, and in some combination of heightened emotions, and the twinkling lights… She says, and the waves and stars, and his warmth as he held her. He says, it brought back all of those old feelings; the ones they never acted on. She says, and they felt like the only two people on earth.

Tomorrow, Austin tells Britt to change her mind and stay; Laura asks if Nikolas could have a clean slate, would he do it; Michael asks Willow to marry him; Sonny tells Nina, they’ve only just begun; and Sam says, what was that?

🩺 The Doctor’s Back In…

Andre has always been a favorite of mine. This storyline should be fun.

His backstory, in case you didn’t know, or like me, forgot.

💎 Door Number Two…

I think it’s more likely the necklace was the reason. It at least factored heavily into the decision. I still wonder what he would have done had Felicia read the results.

🖼 Not Everything’s About You…

Next he’ll be picking on teenager’s bedrooms.

🎶 Light the Corners Of My mind…

Memorable or cringeworthy? You decide.

It still boggles my mind how they get away with some of this nonsense. It’s pretty bad when production has to step in.

🥂 About New Year’s Eve…

If you’re brave, crazy, or both. I’ve never gone and never will. Back in the day, my roommate did the Times Square thing, while I went elsewhere. She told me that she could barely move, someone spilled beer on her, and someone peed on her shoe. Good times…

No more for them.

🎊 Dropping the Ball…

Tomorrow, join me for more of the same, and ending the year. Until then, stay safe, stay not driving while intoxicated, buzzed, or in any way impaired – there’s no excuse; take an Uber – and stay knowing, what matters is how we spend our time in life, because we just never know how much time we have.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Jordan asks Rory about the Landry case, and says she heard he waited in the ER with the wife for two hours. He says he didn’t want to leave her before she was seen, but he was off the clock. She says he’s not in trouble; quite the opposite. Mrs. Landry came in today; she’s going to press charges against her husband. He says, the way she was talking, he wasn’t sure, but Jordan tells him, the wife said it was because of him. She said her husband never would have sat there for that long, unlike him, a complete stranger. She decided she deserves better. Nice work.

At Kelly’s, Dante thanks Cameron for the coffee, when Spencer walks in. Cameron hugs him, and says he had no idea Spencer was out. This is awesome. Dante says, welcome home, and Spencer thanks him. Cameron wonders if he got the dates mixed up, but Spencer says he got out a few weeks early. Dante says he hopes Spencer learned a thing or two, and Spencer says, not to get caught. He’s kidding. He has no intention of going back to prison, so from here on in, he’s going to play by the rules.

As they walk down the hall at the hospital, Britt tells Brad that she’s never hosted a party before, and she wants this to be epic. He says, it will be. The good people of Port Charles will be talking about it for years to come. She says, something to remember her by, and he says he did want to talk to her about the invitations. She says, he sent them out, right? and he says, they all got sent out. She asks, what’s the problem then? and he says, there’s no problem. He just noticed that a certain someone wasn’t on the guest list… Cody?

On the phone at the Bistro, Maxie tells her mom, that’s fine. They’ll get together another time… Nothing is wrong… She means it. They’ll talk another time. She sits rubbing her forehead, when Cody says he’s impressed. Listening to her, he’d believe she’s okay, but just one look… She asks if it’s that obvious, and he sits down. He asks if there’s anything he can do to help, and she says, he’s under no obligation. Now that they know Mac isn’t really his father, they’re not related, so… He says he’d like to think they’re friends, and she says, okay. He says, so lay it on him. What’s up?

At the gym, Nina asks if Sonny is ready to show her his moves, and he says he did that last night. She says, and then some. His boxing moves. They see Obrecht, punching the hell out of the heavy bag, and Sonny tells her, go. Nina goes over to Obrecht, and says, Aunt Liesl, but Obrecht continues to punch wildly. Nina tells her, stop. Get ahold of herself. Nina pulls her away, and sees she’s crying. Obrecht says she’s not ready. Dex comes in, meeting Sonny by the ring, and Sonny says, the meeting is set for tomorrow. Is Dex ready? Dex says, ready as he’ll ever be.

Brad says, not that he would blame Britt for excluding Cody after what he did. He still can’t believe Cody was supposed to be her perfect match. She says, he hasn’t heard? Society Set-Ups is a fraud. He says, is it ever, and she says, no, literally. That Zelda woman is a front for Spinelli. He says, so the company is just some dressed up dating app? and she says, yeah. He says he knew it, but she says, no he didn’t, and he admits he didn’t. But he should have after they found out Cody was only after that necklace. She says, joke’s on him. He lost the jewels and the girl. Brad says he really thought Cody was better than that, and she says, like he’s never gone after a guy for his bank account. He says, obviously, but rolling in dough isn’t what comes to mind when he thinks of her. All she does is work. She picks up an invitation and says, hello? Party? He says, it’s a good first step, but will it stick? She asks what he means, and he says, when will she start enjoying her life?

Maxie tells Cody, Austin blackmailed Spinelli. Can he believe that? Who does something like that? Cody asks if he had a good reason, and she says, a good reason for threatening someone? He says, that totally came out wrong. What exactly did Austin do? She says, it doesn’t matter, and he says, she seems to think it does. She says, he claimed he just wanted to make sure they were a good match for each other, but if what he really cared about was a relationship, why didn’t he just talk to her about it? Cody says, because sometimes that’s a really hard thing to do, and she asks why men are terrified of feelings. That wasn’t a rhetorical question. He says, so now he’s speaking for all men? and she tells him, he said he wanted to help her, so help her understand why men do stupid things. Why they take the arguably more difficult route, when they could just open up to the person they’re close to.

Nina tells Obrecht, look at your hands. Why would you do this? She says, stay here, and walks off.

Sonny says he’s not going to need Dex until tonight, so he can take the afternoon off, and Dex says he won’t argue with that. He’ll see Sonny tonight. He leaves, and Nina asks Sonny if there are ice packs in the back. Her Aunt Liesl’s knuckles are in pretty bad shape. He says, even with the gloves? and she says, the weird part is, it’s like she wants to be in pain. He asks if Nina is worried, and gives him a look. He says he’ll get some ice.

Rory thanks Jordan for telling him about Mrs. Landry. It means a lot. She says she knew it would. That’s what makes him a good cop; he goes above and beyond for his community. Keep it up. He says he plans to, and she asks if she’ll see him at the holiday party. He says, they can bring a guest, right? and she says she takes it things are going well with Miss Trina Robinson. He laughs, and she says, that well. He’s fortunate. Trina’s a very special person. He says, doesn’t he know it.

In the home of the hallowed moss bowl🎍, Trina says, Spencer’s Uncle Victor got him released early, and Josslyn says, typical. She’s so glad Spencer’s out of that place. Trina says, so is she, and Josslyn asks why they’re talking about Spencer. She asked Trina about Rory. Trina says, because Spencer and his uncle showed up at the PC Grill, and Josslyn asks if they ruined her night. Trina says, Rory loves her, and Josslyn says, as in, he acts that way, or he said those words. Trina tells her, he said those words; all three of them, and Josslyn asks why Trina didn’t tell her. Trina says she is telling her, and Josslyn asks what she said back. Trina says, nothing. She was so floored. She never expected it. It’s too soon, right? On their three-month anniversary. They haven’t even slept together yet. Josslyn says she guesses it’s a little quick, but is that the only reason Trina hesitated? Trina says, why else? and Josslyn asks how Trina felt when Rory told her he loved her, besides shocked, and Trina says, she felt scared. Josslyn says, that’s not a good sign, and Trina agrees. She likes Rory, and likes him more as she gets to know him. He’s sweet, considerate, and really makes her feel special. Josslyn says, but Trina’s not in love with him, and Trina say, not yet at least. Josslyn asks if Trina is sure it’s time holding her back, or is it her feelings for Spencer?

Spencer says he misses this place, and Dante bets Cameron could get him his old job back. Spencer says, let’s not go overboard. Luckily, he doesn’t need the paycheck anymore, now that Ava has kindly given him access to his own money. Dante says, good luck with whatever comes next, and Spencer thanks him. Dante leaves, and Cameron says he can’t believe Spencer didn’t text him that he was back, but Spencer says he’s been a little busy. Cameron asks, how’s reentry? and Spencer says, it’s interesting. He’s staying at Windymere. Not by choice. It’s a condition of his release to stay with his uncle, who’s unfortunately living with his father. The plan is to spend as little time there as possible. Cameron says, winter break just started, so he’ll have plenty of time to hang out; so will Joss. Has Spencer reached out to her that he’s back? Spencer says, Trina’s the only person he’s seen so far, and Cameron asks, how’d that go? Spencer says, not great.

Cody tells Maxie, trust him. He’s not the guy she wants to go to for relationship advice. She says, things not going so well with Britt? and he says, things aren’t going at all. She says, yikes, and he says he had a choice. It was the wrong one apparently. Britt doesn’t want anything to do with him. She says, that could change, and he says, doubtful. She says, he’s messed up before and Britt got over it. It could happen again. He says, what about her? Is she going to get over this issue with Austin? She asks if the whole point of this conversation isn’t that she doesn’t know, and he asks if she wants to forgive him. She says, isn’t that the same question? but he says, no. You can be mad and be done with someone, like Britt, or you can be mad, and still want to work things out. She says, or you can be mad, still want to work things out, but be terrified he’s not the person you thought he was.

Spencer asks how the rest of the fall semester went, and Cameron says, it was busy. He had a lot to do with soccer and school and work. He didn’t have much time to do anything else. He barely saw Joss. Spencer says, they’re good though, right? and Cameron says, they are. Spencer says, good. He couldn’t come back home to everything having changed. Cameron asks if Spencer watched the news in Pentenville, and Spencer asks if that’s code for, does he know his ex-girlfriend is running around town attacking people with a hook? Cameron says he’s glad he doesn’t have to tell Spencer, but they’re not sure it is Esme. Spencer says, she attacked his mother and he’s defending her, but Cameron says, no. He’s just saying, it’s one thing to push someone and cause them to fall, but it’s a totally different level to murder someone. Spencer says he has to hand it to Cameron. Some things never change; Cameron always sees the good in people. Cameron says, lucky for Spencer, and Spencer says he knows it. His friendships with Cameron and Joss are pretty much the only things that make sense right now. He’s trapped at Windymere for the rest of his sentence, and then, who knows? Cameron asks if Spencer is going to apply at PCU, but Spencer says, that doesn’t start until the fall. Maybe he’ll head to Stahl for some skiing. He always did like the après life. Cameron asks, what happened to being his own man, and not living off of someone else’s money? and Spencer says, easier said than done. Cameron says, so that’s it. Spencer is just going to leave and go back to Europe. Spencer says, why not? It’s not like anyone is keeping him here.

Trina says she’s not in love with Spencer, but the moss bowl🎍 is skeptical, and Josslyn asks if she said that. Trina says, it was strongly implied. How could she love someone that she can’t even trust? But every time she sees him, it’s like some part of her wakes up. Does that make sense? Josslyn flashes back to telling Dex, try being honest, and Dex kissing her. She says she gets it, and Trina says, it’s like she’s drawn to Spencer, even though she wishes she wasn’t, and she doesn’t have that same pull with Rory like she wishes she did. Josslyn asks if she’s going to break up with Rory, but Trina says, it’s tough. Rory makes her feel good about herself. They definitely have fun when they’re together, but is that enough? Is it even fair to keep dating him, knowing how he feels about her when she doesn’t feel the same way?

Nina asks if Obrecht wants her to call Scotty, but Obrecht says, he’s out of town on business. She’s fine, really. Just go. Nina says, Jay would never forgive her, and Obrecht says, her precious Nathan. Nina says, with Christmas coming, she’s been thinking about him a lot. Is that what’s wrong? Obrecht is missing Jay more than usual? Obrecht says, a mother should have more time with their child, and Nina says she wholeheartedly agrees with that, but they have James. And he’s looking more and more like his daddy every day. Jay lives on. Obrecht says, but Britta won’t.

Dante tells Jordan that he has an update on the Hook case, and Rory asks if he can stay since it has a connection to Trina. Jordan says, of course (🍷), and tells Dante to fill them in. Dante says, the lab was able to identify the venom found on the hook. It comes from a secret highly venomous semi-aquatic snake. He hands Jordan the report, and she asks where one would find such a snake. He says, according to the herpetologist at the PC Zoo, not around here; not in the wild anyway. They come from the South Asia Islands. She says, they’d have to smuggle it into the US, and he says he looked up arrests for smuggling exotic animals into the US. They’ve only had five in the Port Charles area in the last ten years. She asks if he can get on it as soon as possible, and Dante says, will do. Rory says, it’s been two months since Oz Haggerty was killed. Could this mean she’s done? Jordan says, it could, or it could mean she’s nice and rested, and ready for her next victim. She’d like to believe the attempts are over, but serial killers rarely stop on their own. Rory says, it’s the longest break so far, and Dante says, the wait up to Haggerty’s killing was two weeks; it’s a lot longer than that. Rory asks if that’s good news, and Jordan says, no one dying is good news, but it’s premature to think the killer is done. She could have been arrested for another crime, or left town for some reason. Dante says, whoever she is and wherever she is, she’s got to be stopped and brought to justice.

Britt asks if Brad can talk to the manager about how early they can get into the Haunted Star the day of the party, and he says, yes, ma’am. She says, and on her end, she needs to find amazing shoes that she can still dance in, set up a massage for that morning, talk to her lawyer… Brad says, a little extreme, no? He knows people will sue at the drop of a hat these days, but does she really need to see her lawyer? She says she didn’t mean to bring this up today, but since they’re here, she’s talking to her lawyer about her will. He says, she’s scaring him, but she says, don’t be scared. It’s just this whole mess with the necklace, not knowing who it belongs to, reminded her that it’s important to write things down. Besides, it’s the responsible thing to do. Does he have a will. He laughs, and says, all he has to leave to posterity is a fabulous wardrobe. She says, it is fabulous. Just so he knows, she’s leaving everything to him.

Trina tells Josslyn and the moss bowl🎍 that she agreed to meet Rory’s parents. Before the whole love thing, he invited her to his family’s Christmas Eve, and it sounds pretty casual; people coming and going all day. It seemed like the next step. Josslyn tells her, that was before he said what he said, and Spencer showed up, and Trina says, it was so much easier when Spencer was away. Is that horrible? Josslyn says, she’s just being honest, and Trina says, now that he’s home, she’ll probably be seeing him everywhere. Josslyn says, she can always avoid him, but Trina says, that’s not sustainable. And she’s supposed to be hanging out with Rory. What is she going to say? She doesn’t want to date Rory just because she can’t have Spencer. She doesn’t even want Spencer. Josslyn says, but she does, and Trina says, but I do.

Spencer asks how Trina is doing, and Cameron says he thought Spencer saw for himself last night. Spencer says, they didn’t exactly have a heart-to-heart. She said there’s no way for them to start over. Cameron says he’s sorry, but can Spencer blame her? and Spencer says, no. He just wanted to make sure her life was back on track after he completely derailed it. Cameron says, Trina is doing well, and Spencer says, good. She’s happy with Rory? Cameron says, seems like it. Rory’s a good guy. Spencer says, Trina deserves nothing less, when Dex walks in and goes to the counter. Spencer asks, who is that guy? He looks familiar. Cameron says, his name is Dex; he works for Sonny. Spencer says, right. Isn’t Cameron going to take his order? Cameron says, he can wait, and Spencer says, Cameron really doesn’t like him. Cameron says, Dex is a wannabe gangster. Joss was convinced Sonny wanted to hurt him. Spencer says, Cameron just told him Dex works for Sonny. Why would Sonny want to hurt him? Cameron says, remember how Ava was the first Hook victim, and Josslyn found her at the Quartermaines? Dex was there too. He helped Joss get Ava to the hospital. He was also at Charlie’s the night Brando got attacked, and he was at Brando’s garage when Diane Miller got attacked, so… Spencer says, seems like a pattern to him, and Cameron says, Sonny saw a pattern too. That’s why he had him… detained. Spencer says, detained how? and Cameron says he doesn’t have all the details, nor does he want them, but Sonny got Dex out of police custody and Dex just vanished. Josslyn figured Sonny was behind it, and went to Pozzulo’s to look for him. Spencer says, obviously she found him; he’s standing right there. Cameron says, it’s more complicated than that. The guy who was questioning Dex was not listening to Josslyn, and she had to call Michael for back-up. That’s when things got heated dangerous. Spencer says, that’s ridiculous. Sonny would never let any of his people hurt Josslyn. Cameron says, all he knows is that it was a major confrontation. If Joss wasn’t mad at Sonny before, it’s on a whole other level now. Spencer says, Joss is upset because her mom and Sonny split up, and now Sonny’s moved on to Nina, so he sympathizes, but Sonny’s always been more than decent to Josslyn. Cameron says, it’s not about that. Whatever happened at Pozzulo’s, whatever Sonny did to Dex, Josslyn hates him for that.

Nina tells Obrecht that she doesn’t understand. Did something happen to Britt? Obrecht says, she’ll never have children, but Nina says, she could change her mind about that. Obrecht says, when Britta’s gone, there’ll be nothing, and Nina asks why she keeps talking about Britt leaving. Obrecht says, it’s not her story to tell, and Nina says, that may be true, but it’s obviously tearing her up. She has to let it out. Obrecht says, nein. This is obviously a moment of weakness. She gets up, and says she can keep the secret. She will keep the secret. Nina says, Aunt Liesl, and Obrecht stops. Nina says she just reminded Obrecht that they’re family. Obrecht can tell her anything. She’s not going to tell anybody. Obrecht can trust her. Obrecht says, it’s too much, and Nina says, let her shoulder some of the burden. She won’t tell anyone. Trust her. Obrecht starts to cry, and says, Britta is sick. She has Huntington’s disease. Sitting on a nearby bench, Sonny overhears.

Brad says he’s a beneficiary of Britt’s will? and Britt says, sole beneficiary. Don’t look so shocked. Who else does she have to leave it to? He asks how much they’re talking about here? A vacay in Cabo, or… never mind. That’s so not the point. She says, the point is for him to be independent. She hopes he uses the money to get away from Aunt Selina and start fresh. He says, that’s depressing, and she says, which part? He says, the prospect of still running errands for his aunt decades from now. Not unless she plans on dying tomorrow. She says, that is not the plan, but it’s always good to be prepared.

Cameron tells Spencer, Josslyn told him that her family’s been covering for Sonny all her life. That he doesn’t deserve it; that he belongs in prison. Spencer says, speaking as someone who just got out of prison, that’s pretty harsh, and Cameron says, she means it. She says Sonny’s not who they think he is. She’s seen the truth, and wants nothing to do with him. He’s not saying whatever Sonny did to Dex was okay, but the guy went to work for him, and he’s still working for him. Spencer says, exactly. Josslyn has no idea what Dex did to get in trouble with Sonny, or how badly he may have screwed up. For all they know, Sonny is going easy on the guy. Cameron says, don’t tell Joss that, and Spencer says, obviously this Dex is manipulating her. If Joss is mad at Sonny, she’s going to jump on anything that makes him look bad, and Dex knows that. Dex asks if anyone works here, and Spencer says he thinks that’s Cameron’s cue. Cameron asks what he can get Dex, and Dex says, a cheeseburger to go, medium rare. Cameron says, coming right up, and goes in the back. Spencer says, Dex, right? and they shake hands. Dex says, and he is? Spencer says, Spencer Cassadine; he’s Sonny’s nephew. Dex works for Spencer’s uncle, right? Dex says he does, and Spencer says, which means Dex works for him.

Trina asks Josslyn if she’s really going to break up with Rory right before the holidays. Is she that person? Josslyn says, it’s never a good time to end a relationship, and Trina says, no, but there are very, very bad times. And say she and Rory break up, that’s no guarantee she and Spencer will have a future. He asked if they could start over, but she doesn’t think they can. Josslyn says she wishes she had the answers, and Trina says, Spencer has hurt her so many times, and now he’s going to cost her Rory too? It’s not fair. Josslyn says, it’s not, but Trina’s not the only one in this. Rory is involved too. So if she’s honest with him, not about wanting Spencer, but about not feeling the same way, it’s up to him to stay or not. Trina says, that’s true. Rory can decide for himself. It’s still going to be so awkward. Like, thanks for loving me, but I don’t feel same way? Maybe she’ll wait until after New Year’s. Josslyn says, no. She has to do this. Cam deserves to know the truth. Trina asks where that came from, and Josslyn says she meant Rory obviously. Trina says, Josslyn is right. If she wants something real with Rory, she has to be up front with him.

Jordan thanks Dante, and says she wishes she could send more detectives to the case, but they don’t have the manpower. He says, that’s okay. He’ll just work as efficiently as he possible can. She says she knows she will, and Rory asks if Dante wants him to drop the report on his desk; he’s heading out. Dante says, sure, and Jordan says, that’s actually perfect, since she wants to talk to Dante about something else. Rory thanks her for letting him sit in, and leaves. In the hallway, he looks inside the folder, and takes a photo of something with his phone.

Nina tells Obrecht she remembers how relieved they were when they found out Jay didn’t inherit the gene, but Britt did. Obrecht says, if only Cesar was here; she’d kill him herself. Nina asks if Britt is having symptoms, and Obrecht says, trouble swallowing, muscle spasms, and it’s only going to get worse. How does she do this? She cries, and says, the thought of sitting by helpless, watching her Britta waste away. She doesn’t have the strength. Sonny joins them, and says she’s going to find the strength because her daughter’s going to need her. Obrecht looks like she might kill him.

Maxie says, Austin lied to her, and Cody says, yeah. She says, excuse you? and he says, when you like someone, you want to show them the best version of yourself, so you massage the truth a little bit. Like saying you love to cook, when in reality, you only know how to make pasta. Or you talk about your love of exercise when you haven’t seen a gym in weeks. She says, he’s right. He’s terrible at giving relationship advice. And yes, people are on their best behavior for the first few dates, but if you want to go the distance with someone, you’re going to have to open up and show then who you really are. He shakes his head, and she says, that’s it, just no? He says, no one wants the real him, but she says, that’s a cop out and he knows it.

Brad tells Britt that he’s got his marching orders; time to go to work. He starts to leave, but turns around, and says he know acts aloof and above it all sometimes. She says, sometimes? And he says, but this will thing, it really means the world to him. She tells him, what can she say? He’s been there for her when no one else has. He knows her better than anyone. He’s her best friend in the whole world. He says, they’re more than a best friends; they’re family. They hug, and Britt says, cue the violins. She lets go of her phone, and Brad picks it up, asking, what was that? She rubs her arm, and says she was just at the gym too long this morning. So run along. The party’s not going to plan itself. He looks at her, and she says, what? He says he’s excited about the party, don’t get him wrong. He guesses he’s confused about the magnitude of it. She never celebrates her birthday; she never even mentions it. Why is this one such a big deal?

Dex says, if he works for Spencer, that’s news to him, and Spencer says, his uncle listens to him. So Dex would be wise to do as he says.

Cameron is sweeping outside, when Joss comes by with a bunch of toys in her arms. She him if Toys for Tots is still going on, and he says, yes, but… She asks him to get the door, and he opens it. She goes in, saying, she did not want to miss it. She sees Spencer telling Dex, stay away from Josslyn Jax. She says, excuse me?

Obrecht says, how dare Sonny eavesdrop on a private conversation? Is he happy to see her brought to her knees like this? He says he doesn’t want to see her in any pain, but she says, liar. Nina says, she has every right to be upset, but it’s not fair to take it out on Sonny. Sonny tells Nina that he’d like to say something, and Obrecht asks why she should listen to him. He says he went through something similar to what she’s facing with his own father. She says, he had Alzheimer’s, and Sonny says, when he found out, it was the worst moment of his life. He thought he’s already lost his father, but he was wrong. At the end of his father’s life, there were flashes of his old self. When his memory loss started setting in, and his defenses were going away, he saw another side to his father. They were so honest with each other; more honest than they’d ever been before he got sick. Alzheimer’s takes a lot… But at the end, those times they had… they were a gift. We all get teary-eyed. Nina says she’ll call Obrecht tonight, and Obrecht tells her to remember… Nina tells her, she won’t say a word to anyone. She promises. Obrecht takes Sonny’s hand, and thanks him for what he said. They hug, and she cries some more. Obrecht leaves, and Nina hugs Sonny, and cries. She tells him, Aunt Liesl has done horrible things to people Sonny loves, and he reached out to her. He says when he sees someone suffering like he did with his dad, he just helps, that’s all. She says, it’s not just that’s all. It’s everything.

Cody says, Maxie feels like she doesn’t know the real Austin, and Maxie says she thinks it’s become increasingly clear that she doesn’t. She asks if he thinks he’s seen the real Britt, and he says, glimpses, but yes. She asks if he likes her, and he says, very much. She says, then don’t give up on her, but he says he’s not sure he’s being given a chance. She says, trust her. Britt just needs time.

Brad asks, what’s so important about this party? and Britts says, the party’s just an excuse. He says, for…? and she says, she wants to be more than the woman who fell in the MetroCourt pool; the sucker taken in by Cody’s con. She wants people to see her in all her glory. Does that make sense? He says, it does. And that’s exactly what she’s going to get. She has his word. This party will be a once in a lifetime experience.

Josslyn says she heard Spencer was out, and he says, home for the holidays. Josslyn says, speaking of holidays, indicating the toys in her arms, and Dex starts to step forward, but Spencer says, let Cameron help her. Josslyn says, she can do it, and puts the toys in the box. Dex tells Cameron to cancel his order; he’ll go somewhere else. Since you can’t please him, Spencer says, no. Dex ordered, so he’s got to pay, but Cameron says, no, he doesn’t. Dex says, not a problem. He looks at Spencer, and says, Spencer’s uncle pays him well. He pulls out a stack of cash, and counts out some bills, when Spencer sucker punches him, surprising us all.

Jordan opens her office door, and Trina is there. Trina asks if Jordan has seen Rory. She asked at the front desk, but no one can tell her where he is.

Rory walks down a hotel room hallway (not sure if it’s the MetroCourt), to room 82. He bangs on the door, and it opens. He says, PCPD. Anyone home? He goes inside, and the door slams shut.

Tomorrow, Curtis tells Alexis, they have to be careful with this information; Ava asks Nikolas to tell her what’s behind this; and Dante busts into the hotel room.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

On the bullhorn, Jordan tells Holly that it’s her last chance and to give herself up. Inside the cabin, a woman grabs the briefcase, knocking the lantern over and starting a fire – we can’t see her face. Jordan says she doesn’t like this, and tells Mac to give the order to move, but Robert says, give her a chance to do the right thing. Jordan says, she’s had a chance, multiple ones. Time’s up. There’s an explosion inside the cabin, and debris blows everywhere. Robert says he has to get in there, but Mac holds him back.

Curtis and Portia struggle over a piece of pie, and Curtis says he promised N’neka, but Porta says, N’neka gets plenty of pies and other things from her Savoy suitors. This pie is for Terry. It’s praise-worthy pie. He says he knows; he baked it. She says, with her sweet potato pie recipe, and he says he’ll surrender that piece of pie in exchange for something just as sweet. They kiss, and Trina slips out the back door. On the patio, Marshall says, sneaking out?

Brook tells Chase that she’s starving, and Olivia will kill them if they hold things up. She starts to leave, but he says, look at him. Was she ever going to tell him about the CCRB letter she never wrote? She acts like she’s not sure what he’s talking about, and he says, the letter she told Dante that she’d write; the one that might give him a fighting chance to get his badge back.

Britt goes up to the bar at The Savoy, bumping Ava as she sits down. She orders a Cosmo, tells Ava, her bad, and asks how Ava’s Thanksgiving was. Ava says, it was great; she had Avery. Britt tells N’neka to put Ava’s drinks on her tab, and Ava says, not necessary, but very nice. She asks how Britt’s Thanksgiving was, and Britt says, amazing. It had highs, lows, my mother, cranberry from a can. It was very traditional. Now it’s time for her to get her groove on. Cody walks in, and Britt says, one more box to check. Ava says, which is? and Britt says, a little somethin’ somethin’, when Nikolas walks in, and catches Ava’s eye.

Also at The Savoy, Victor sits alone at a table, and Selina tells him, happy Thanksgiving. He says, and to her, and she asks if he enjoyed a family celebration earlier. He gestures for her to sit, and says, just with his nephew. Sadly, he couldn’t gather the other Cassadines for a celebration of turkey and conviviality. His phone dings, and Selina says she’s sorry, but he tells her not to shed any tears on his account. That’s all going to be changing going forward. He sees a text from Gavin (no doubt the guy I’ve been calling Johann): Have approx. location on Holly. En route. Victor texts back: Necklace top priority. Holly expendable. He tells Selina, he hopes soon to have the incentive he needs to bring his family together.

The woman in the cabin, now consumed by fire, runs out and flails around the yard before finally falling down. Robert screams, Holly! and breaks away from Mac, grabbing a blanket and throwing it over her. Mac runs over, and Robert looks under the blanket, and yells, no! I guess it must be her. Jordan tells an officer to cordon off the area. Canvas the cabin, and find out if anyone within a one-mile radius saw or heard anything. The paramedics tend to Holly, and Mac pulls Robert away. Robert says, she needs him, and one of the paramedics says, they need to move her, or she’s not going to make it.

Selina tells Victor, family can be so troublesome, and ungrateful. She’s been tempted to disavow herself of the whole lot. He laughs, and says, not so easily done. Biological imperative compels us to protect our clan, no matter how sorry a bunch they might be. She says, it seems they have much in common, and asks if she can call him Victor. He says, if he can call her Selina, and she says she’d like to continue their conversation. Perhaps they can compare notes. He raises his glass to her.

Ava tells Britt that she never associated Thanksgiving with trysts. Most people just want a nap. Britt says, when you’re in her position, you carpe diem and carpe dictum, and Ava asks, what position is that? Britt says, hard up. She’s been without since Jason, and before him, there was one forgettable wham-bam with Jax, then a fling thing with Ava’s brother. She hasn’t had relationship sex since… wow… 2014. Nikolas joins them, and Britt adds, with Ava’s husband.

Obrecht stomps over to Cody and says, you – with me, and he follows her out.

Curtis asks what Portia thinks about their first family Thanksgiving, and she says, definitely deserving of high marks. And the food was fantastic. She even overheard his father telling Stella that his son’s turkey was so good. It’s true; she’ll give him that. Curtis says, he’s just so grateful that he has a father to fuss with. Tommy never got that chance, and he intends to make the most of his, just in case this disease tries to take his father away again. What are the chances it rears back up? I’m guessing none, since I don’t think Marshall has schizophrenia.

Trina asks if Marshall pulled guard duty, and he says he’s just minding his own business, cleaning his clarinet. She wraps a blanket around herself, and asks if he isn’t cold. He says he’s wearing a sweater. Curtis busted his chops, and highly suggested he could keep Trina company. He figured boredom would drive her out here sooner or later. She says, here she thought she and Curtis were making progress, and Marshall says, he means well. She says she knows, but it’s not like she’s out here asking to be attacked by a freak with a hook. She just needs to breathe. She’s climbing the walls being shut up most of the time. He says he knows the feeling. Been there; done that.

Brook says, Dante told Chase about the letter? and he says, Dante assumed he knew; that Brook had looped him in. He figured she just hadn’t had the time to write it yet, what with making music and scamming Linc. She says, they’ve been crazy busy, right? Every day, all day, she’s hustling for every number Chase performs, setting up interviews and promos. She can barely breathe. He says, it’s a lot of work, and she’s thrown herself into it, and she says, letting all her responsibilities at Deception slide… He says, so maybe she wanted to and just didn’t find the  time. Maybe she thought she did tell him, or maybe she drafted the letter, and didn’t want to spring it on him until it was perfect. He’d understand anything; just tell him. When was she going to let him know Dante asked her to write a letter to the Civilian Complaint Review Board, recommending he get his badge back? She doesn’t say anything, and he says, never? She says she meant to tell him once they got Linc, but he says, that’s not a sure thing. She says, neither is her letter, but he says, Dante told him that her account of his run-ins with Valentin and Linc would go a long way in getting him right with the Board. She says, what’s to stop Linc from having his say? That liar could deny everything. Chase’s best shot at getting his badge back is after they beat Linc, and expose him for the skeeze that he is. She takes Chase’s hands, and says, once they prove Linc has no credibility, is when he can march into the CCRB with her letter, and prove he never gave up on law and order, just because law and order gave up on him. He says, that timetable doesn’t work; which he could have told her if she’d let him in on what was happening. But she didn’t. He can’t think of a single reason why she wouldn’t just tell him. She says, there is only one good reason; the only reason she needed. Us.

Trina says she didn’t mean compare being shut up with family with what Marshall went through when he was hospitalized, and Marshall says, let’s see. You can’t leave when you want to. Your mother and Curtis watch your every move. You can’t see the man in your life, Officer Cabrera. They share enough similarities to make them understand one another. She says she doesn’t think she could ever really understand what he went through, and he says he hopes she never does. She says, he doesn’t talk much about it… you know… He says, having schizophrenia. Why dwell on yesterday, when today’s so rich, and tomorrow’s so bright.

Portia says she can’t tell Curtis if Marshall is going to have another schizophrenic episode. She’s not a psychiatrist; she’s not even up on the latest science. He tells her, Marshall said he never had an episode, not since the arrest that institutionalized in the first place. Maybe Marshall caught a break, like he did, dodging his father’s genetic markers.

Ava and Nikolas gaze into each other’s eyes, and Britt says, they’re so cute. Look at them; coupled up, wedded bliss. Ava says, aren’t they though? and Nikolas says he saw Britt’s mother over there. Britt tells him, her mother says marriage is for the bourgeois. Britt thinks it would be nice if her significant other knew what toppings she likes on her hot dog, or took the wine glass out of her hand when she fell asleep on the couch. Someone who would throw her a birthday party and serve her favorite cake… or just say happy birthday. Ava says, Britt never had a birthday party? and Britt says, no birthday party, no husband. Nikolas says, she still has time, and Britt says, ain’t it the truth? She asks N’neka to get her and her friends another round.

Selina says, Victor’s nephew appears to be occupied with his wife, and Victor says, soon to be ex-wife. Selina says she’s sorry to hear that, but he says, don’t be. It was an imprudent match to begin with; harmful to both of them. It was never meant to last. Selina says, love never is, but that alone never stopped anyone from fighting for it.

Robert goes with Holly to the ambulance, saying, he loves her; hang in there. Mac stops a paramedic, and asks about Holly’s condition, and the paramedic tells him, on observation, it looks like she has burns over 75% of her body. GH is good, but she needs better, so they’re taking her to a burn unit. They’ve radioed for a medivac. Robert says he’s going with her, but Mac says, he’ll just get in the way of the paramedics. He’ll drive Robert to the airfield. Robert tells Mac to get out of his way before he belts him one, when Jordan interrupts, saying, this is a crime scene. She needs her Chief of Detectives. She tells Robert to move, and he leaves.

Portia says, Curtis and his father are lucky, no matter what the reason is. She hopes some of that luck rubs off on Trina. She can’t wait for Esme to be brought to justice. Speaking of Trina, where is she? They look outside, and see her on the patio with Marshall.

Trina says, Marshall has a way of putting things into perspective, and he says, everybody has their burdens. But no one carries it with grace such as hers. Curtis comes out, carrying the piece of pie, Portia behind him. He tells Marshall, the game is on, and Marshall gets up. He says he guesses Portia is going to watch the game with him, and she says she’ll definitely be watching. Enjoy the pie. Marshall asks if that’s the last piece of pie; he doesn’t believe this. He and Portia go inside, and Curtis puts down the pie near Trina, and sits down. She pushes it away, and he says, okay, her loss. He thought it would take the edge off after being caught in his net.

Chase says, Brook took away his best chance at getting his badge back for them? She says she’s never had this before. She’s been with other guys – she’s not exactly Snow White – but true intimacy? Not once. She was starting to think she wasn’t capable of a true connection, but then he came along. She realized, not only was intimacy possible, but it’s here, between them. Since they started working together, it’s only gotten deeper and stronger. If she never gets Linc, if she never gets her songs back, if she never exposes Linc for the creep that he is, she’d be okay. She’s be frustrated and disappointed, but she’d still be okay. Because the true gift is, every minute, she gets closer to him. She thought he felt the same way. He says he does, and she says, that’s why she didn’t tell him about the letter. She thought everything they were doing together was better than anything they’ve done alone. She thought, given enough time, he’d forget about the badge, and what he really wanted would be here with her. Just tell her she’s right.

Outside The Savoy, Cody says he thought he and Obrecht were getting along better. Is he still in the hole for punching Scotty? She says she was moved by his apology, as well as Britt’s endorsement of him. Her feelings are immaterial; only Britta’s matter. She’s a fundamentally lonely person, yearning for what she’s never had; someone to rely on. Now is no time to look for a substitute. Britt can’t do with a romantic distraction; she needs her mother. They both know Britt is headstrong, and behaves contrary to wisdom, and Cody is persistent. So… If it’s money he wants, then it’s money he shall have.

Britt asks Nikolas to be her wingman, and help scope out the sponge-worthy. She stumbles a little, and he asks if she’s okay. Ava suggests she sit down, when Selina comes over with Victor, and asks if there’s a problem. Britt says she just slipped, and Selina asks if she’s been overserved. Britt says she just had one drink, and Selina says, come with her. She tries to take Britt’s arm, but Britt throws Selina’s hand off, and almost falls again. Victor comes on the other side of her, putting her drink on the bar, and he and Selina head for a table with her.

The ambulance stops in the middle of nowhere, and the paramedics get out. Dressed as one of them, Felicia opens the back, and says, all clear. Holly sits up, and takes her head covering off. Robert asks if she’s all right, and she says, right as rain. She’s all fired up. Wow. I really thought it must be someone else, since we couldn’t see who she was. Well done.

Chase tells Brook, singing’s been a pleasant surprise. He had more fun than he thought he would. And it’s not just the performing or celebrity; it’s her. He would have never tried to be Chase the singer with anyone but her. She says, he’s got her, so there’s no problem, but he says, the problem is, he’s not Chase the singer. That’s just some face he was wearing that’s not his. She says, but it could be. She’s seen him when he gets up on stage; he comes alive. He’s so in the moment when he sings. He says, and right when he’s done, he’s checking his newsfeed. He has this fantasy that he’s the one who finds Brando’s killer; that he could still do some good at the PCPD. She says, he can. She never expected him to give up the cop forever; just put him on mute for a while. He says, until he forgets the sound of his voice altogether? Maybe she’s right. He can forget he’s a cop, and focus all his energy on singing, given enough time. But it has to be his choice. Does she get that? And she took that away from him.

Trina says she thought she and Curtis had an understanding after their discussion on boundaries, and he says he thought he’d given her a wide berth. She says, it doesn’t feel that way, and he says, they agreed he wouldn’t go behind her back and butt into her life. He did that. He even refrained from butting in from the front. He’s up for a Nobel Peace Prize. She says, which he’ll lose after assigning his father to guard her, but he says, all he did was set up a watch to keep eyes out for Esme Prince. A man is allowed to protect his castle, and all who reside in it.

Marshall tells Portia, Trina’s not going anywhere. She’s just feeling hemmed in. She thanks him for talking to Trina, and helping her get some of that out, and asks if he’d mind possibly playing for them tonight. He says, sure, and she asks if his illness ever gets in the way of him playing. She’s sorry… He says, no, that’s okay. No one’s ever asked. The only way schizophrenia got between him and his music was when he had to go underground to protect his family from the stigma. She says, so it never inhibited his performance? and he says, just his ambitions. Why all the questions?

Mac asks Jordan if there’s any idea what caused the explosion, and she says, the theory is a faulty stove. She has to get her people inside. Hopefully there’s some evidence to explain Holly’s strange behavior. He hands her an evidence bag, and says, maybe this will help. The firefighters pulled it out. She asks what it is, and he says, the remains of Robert’s briefcase; the one he put the necklace in. She says, so where’s the necklace?

Holly thanks Felicia for the clothes, and Felicia says she’s happy she got the sizes right. She has Holly’s new passport and her international driver’s license. Does she feel better? Holly says, just a little singed around the edges. Robert joins them, and says, that was something. Holly says she’s just sorry he and Mac had to see it; she can’t imagine what it looked like. Felicia says, the danger was minimal. She and Holly worked it out to a tee. Holly tells her, thank you for that… We see Felicia meeting Holly, and Holly says, Felicia was waiting for me when I arrived at the cabin last night. They go inside, and Felicia gives Holly some things out of a duffel bag. Holly says, with fireproof garments, and fire retardant gel to make the ruse look real. Felicia tells her to put it on her face, and Holly says, we went over the instructions on how to rig the stove at the appointed time. Back at the ambulance, Felicia says, Holly flambé. She can’t believe Holly was able to work it out in time. Robert says, they had no choice, and Holly says, they were operating on Victor’s timetable. She couldn’t just hand over the necklace. Robert says, she couldn’t defy Victor either, and Holly says, or Ethan would have paid the price. She and Robert faked Robert’s drugging, so she’d have the opportunity to steal the necklace, and lay a trail to the cabin for the PCPD to find. Robert says, it only works if they have a credible witness to Holly’s injuries, and Holly says, because Ethan’s only chance of survival is if Victor believes she’s of no more use to him.

Cody says, Obrecht’s willing to pay him to stay away from Britt? and she says she’s prepared to give him six figures. He says he doesn’t want her money. He just wants what, by rights, should belong to him. She says, Dominique’s inheritance, and he says, yeah, and he wanted something else; not something, someone. She says, her daughter, and he says he thought he could have both. Boy, did he misjudge that situation. Now it looks like he can’t have either, but maybe all he wanted was Britt. Obrecht will be happy to know, he blew it big time. Her daughter wants nothing to do with him. She says, perhaps Britta’s learned some wisdom after all, and he says, she can tell Britt that he can take no for an answer, and he can take living hand to mouth. So Obrecht can keep her money, and not worry about him dogging Britt. He doesn’t want to go where he’s not wanted. Obrecht says she’ll make sure Britt knows, and he says he’s sure she will. One more thing. What’s wrong with Britt? Why is Obrecht willing to go broke just to keep him away from her? Obrecht says, sorry. Answers were never on offer.

Britt shakes off Victor and Selina as they get to the table, and Victor says he’s going to get her mother. Britt says, leave her mother out of this, and leave her alone. Selina says she’s getting Britt a cab, but Britt says, this is ridiculous. She had one drink. Victor says, not counting the drinks she had on the way over, and Britt says she can handle her liquor. Selina says, but she can’t even stand up straight unaided, and Victor says, wait. This isn’t alcohol, is it? Britt’s sick.

Ava says, Victor won’t be very pleased, seeing Nikolas consorting with the enemy, and Nikolas says he has no intention of divorcing her. She says she had no intention of becoming bait for the PCPD, but sometimes, one never knows what the day may bring. He asks what she’s talking about, and she says, Mac Scorpio thinks Ryan Chamberlain can lead them to Esme if she convinces him to.

Victor says, Faison’s legacy, and Britt says, shut up about that, when Obrecht flies in between them. She slaps Victor, and says, touch her daughter, and she’ll kill him. Selina says, everyone, calm down, and Cody hustles Victor off, suggesting they take a walk. Britt says, he’s going to tell people, but Obrecht says, he wouldn’t dare. There’s a special place in hell for men like that. Selina says, the Ninth Circle… I’ve heard it said.

Robert gives Holly some keys, and says, the car’s untraceable. Drive it over the border to Canada, and with her new ID, she can disappear. She says, Victor will follow up, but he says, witnesses will recall there was a woman placed in a medivac. Felicia says, yours truly. She’ll be dropped off outside Port Charles, and flight plans will indicate Holly Sutton was transferred to a plane transporting her to a burn clinic halfway across the world. Robert says, very private, very secure, and Felicia says, reports will have her comatose with a long, difficult recovery. Robert says, and Victor will probably lose interest, leaving her free to rescue her son. Holly says she won’t squander their efforts, and Felicia says she knows that. Holly thanks them for everything they’ve done on her behalf and her son’s. She just wishes they didn’t have to leave Mac in the dark, but Felicia says, this way, Mac can’t lie to Jordan about Holly. Besides, he’d be the first to agree she’s worth it. Holly wonders how she can ever repay them, and Felicia hugs her, saying, get her son back, and get Victor. Holly says she’s working on it. She remembers…

Selina holds up a diamond, and says, interesting. Holly says, satisfied? and Selina says, she’d prefer the entire necklace, but Holly says, that’s all that’s available, and only in exchange for the guarantee that Victor Cassadine ingests this. She holds up a vial, and asks if it can be done. Selina says she sees Victor at The Savoy on occasion, but she can’t have the club associated with a death. Holly says, if she wanted Victor dead, he’d be dead. He’ll only feel the effects of this drug if the circumstances arise… or don’t. Selina asks, what did Victor do to earn Holly’s animosity? and Holly says, Victor fancies himself a family man, whilst he’s holding her son hostage. She’ll never get Ethan back if Victor is dead. In the meantime, a dose of this will pay him back in kind. Selina says, there’s a special place in hell for such men, and Holly says, the Ninth Circle. Will she do it? Selina says, Holly has her word, and takes the vial.

N’neka brings Victor another drink, and he raises his glass to Selina, who looks at the vial in her hand. She says, and my word is my bond.

Curtis says, Trina’s not a prisoner. He just wants to make sure she’s safe and sound while she’s here. If she doesn’t like his rules, they’re only temporary. But he does need her to respect them, just as he respects her boundaries. And while he hopes this doesn’t compromise the friendship they decided to try out, he’ll understand if it does. She says, two steps forward, one step back is still progress. Fork? He gives her the fork, and she snatches the pie away, telling him, don’t squander that progress. He says he made that pie, and she says, from her mom’s recipe. He throws up his hands in surrender.

Portia says she guesses she’s just curious that none of Marshall’s doctors ever suggested genetic counseling or screening like Curtis had. He says, things like that weren’t around back when he was in the hospital, but she says, those things are commonplace nowadays. Has he ever considered it? and he says, what’s the point? He already has a diagnosis. What would genetic counseling tell him that he doesn’t already know? Um… what I said before.

Chase tells Brook, the only way he’d want to become a singer is if he decides himself, but she never gave him that option. She says she thought he wanted it as much as she did, and he says, to take down Linc? Sure, but she knew how bad he wanted to return to the PCPD. So when Dante asked her to write the letter, she didn’t tell him because she knew he’d be all for it. She says she never thought of it like that, and he says he’s been where she is, making decisions for others, and personal experience showed him just how wrong it was. He did it with Willow. She says, so that’s it? He’s hanging up the mic? She gets it. He says, she doesn’t. It’s not just the mic; it’s us. His singing career is over, and so are they.

Nikolas tells Ava that she can’t be in Ryan’s presence; it’s too dangerous. She says, Ryan is a  turnip, and any danger would be worth it to protect Trina. Esme is out there killing people, and she has to do what she can to stop her, even if it means she pays the price for Esme going over the parapet… or he does.

Marshall asks, what would be the benefit after all these years, to get confirmation of what he already knows? when Trina and Curtis come back in. Portia says, somebody enjoyed the pie, and Curtis says, the pie that he barely got to taste. Is Marshall ready for some football? Marshall says, let’s do this, and puts on the TV.

Brook tells Chase to think about what he’s saying, and he says, she’s the most exciting person he’s ever met. She made him feel like the luckiest guy alive. She says, he made her feel the same way, and he says, but then they went in on this plan to expose Linc, and it muddied things up for the both of them. They should have set boundaries; either working together as singer and manager, or two people who can’t get enough of each other. But not both, because now they don’t work as anything. She tells him, don’t say that. That’s not true. They can work this out. He says, she lied to him. She kept him from the thing that makes him who he is. There’s nothing to work out. It’s over. He leaves, and she cries.

Britt tells Obrecht, everything was fine. She could swallow her drink, then suddenly, her feet fell out from under her. Obrecht says she’s so sorry. Let’s go home. Britt asks why Obrecht’s never thrown her a birthday party, and Obrecht says she must have some time, but Britt says, she didn’t. She’s going to throw herself a birthday party to end all parties. If she’s going down, she’s going down dancing, even if she’s dancing on her own. Obrecht helps Britt out of the club, as Cody watches.

Holly tells Robert, so this is goodbye. She’s sorry for everything. Most of all, she’s sorry for coming back to him only to leave again. If there was any other way… He says, there isn’t, and she says, this isn’t their moment. He says, it never is, but she says she recalls a certain… Goodbye, Robert. He asks if she isn’t forgetting something, and she kisses him, but he says he actually meant something else. She says, oh? and he says, the necklace.

Mac says, the firefighters didn’t see a necklace, and Jordan says, call CSU. They need to conduct their own search. They need to make sure nobody walked out with it. He says, it’s possible Holly ditched the necklace, or handed it off to Victor before holing up, and Jordan says, or she had it on her when she left with the paramedics. He says he’ll check with Robert. It’s possible it got destroyed in the fire. She says, a diamond necklace? and he says, a hot enough fire can turn diamond to ash. It might be gone for good. She says, the WSB is going to be pissed

Victor swirls his drink, and drains his glass. His phone dings, and a text from Gavin says: Holly disabled. Necklace missing. Victor shatters his glass on the table.

Holly tells Robert, oh, the necklace. She almost forgot. They laugh, and she takes it out of her pocket, giving it to him. She asks why Victor wanted it so badly. What’s so special about it? He says, it came from the Ice Princess itself. He thinks it has something to do with the diamonds. She says, the Ice Princess has a bad habit of destroying those who covet it. Be careful. He says he’s always careful, and she says, except with his heart, touching his chest. He says, be seeing you, and she slowly walks away. She turns, blows him a kiss, and walks into the mist.

Tomorrow, Sasha tells Chase, in her heart, Brook was doing it for them both; Nina says she hopes Willow can help out a friend; Carly asks Josslyn if Dex is a factor in her decision; and Sonny says, if something is too good to be true, it usually is.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Alexis, Sam and Dante are eating at the MetroCourt, and Alexis says she’s glad they found the time to get together, since they’re all so busy. She’s not going to ask any questions about The Hook, or ask Dante any questions about his investigations with the PCPD. Nina comes to their table, and apologizes for interrupting. Sam asks if everything is okay, and Nina says, that depends. She’s not asking Dante for any details about the case, but she needs to know. How worried does Ava have to be about Esme Prince?

Britt kneels in her office rubble, holding the necklace, and Cody asks if she’s all right. Did someone break in and try to steal the necklace? She says, no, and he asks if she wants to tell him what happened. She puts the necklace back in its box, setting it on the desk, and says, there’s no point in getting into it, but he says, humor him. Pretend he’s useful. Please, let him help.

At the hospital, Michael asks if Willow is okay, and she says, they’re early. She doesn’t want to wait by the chemo treatment room. She knows it’s silly… He says, it’s not. Whatever makes her comfortable, that’s what they’re going to do. Carly sees them, and asks what they’re doing here.

Victor says he’s beginning to wonder if Robert is as trusting as Holly led him to believe, and Holly says she’s done everything she can to convince Robert that she has no memory of the last two years. And as far as she can tell, he believes her. Victor yells, stop it! Stop lying to him.

Sam says, Esme has been seen in town, and didn’t she attack Elizabeth Baldwin? and Alexis says she didn’t know that. Dante says, Elizabeth is doing fine, and Nina says, if Esme is behind these hook attacks, that would makes sense, because it fits in with the PCPD theory that these attacks are connected to Trina Robinson’s trial. Alexis says, it wouldn’t be the first time Esme went after Trina, given the victims, and Nina says, starting with Ava. Alexis says, Ava was a mentor to Trina, and Diane represented Trina. Diane also told her that Haggerty sold Esme the phone she used to record Josslyn and Cameron. Nina says, Elizabeth is Cameron’s mother, so she would be targeted too, and Dante says, the investigation is ongoing. Nina asks if he can just tell her if Ava is safe. Or should she be expecting Esme to show up at her door with a giant hook? He says, all he can suggest is they stay vigilant, but go ahead and live their lives. Nina apologizes for interrupting again, and moves on. Alexis looks at Dante, and he says, the investigation is ongoing. She says, got it, holding up her hands.

Blaze says, it’s not that she doesn’t like Brook’s song; she does. The lyrics are terrific, but she’s not singing back-up for Chase. Brook says, the song is perfectly balanced. Both of them get a solo verse, before singing the chorus and a third verse together. Blaze says, when they do sing together, she’s always the melody, while his part shows off his range. Her part is a little boring. Linc says, that’s an excellent point, babe, and puts his hand on hers, but she slips hers out quickly. Linc says, Blaze deserves her time to shine, and Brook says, it sounds like a rehearsal issue. It’s a collaboration. They communicate, and fix it. After all, they’re on the same side, right? Blaze says she just wants the song to be good, and Chase is sure they can figure out a way to showcase them both. Linc says he’s sure they can work something out. Blaze plays nice; don’t you, babe? He puts his hand on her thigh, Brook and Chase notice her negative reaction.

Britt tells Cody, sorry. She’s just going through a tough time. He says he’s had a few of those, and she says, you know what’s funny? When her father died, she thought, it’s over; he’s finally dead. Little did she know the reach that man had. His brain is in a jar in the WSB somewhere, and his body is literally in the wind. They scattered his ashes, and now the man who spent his life trying to destroy the world, is spending eternity polluting it. She kicks some stuff on the floor, and says, he’s dead and gone, and he’s still hurting her. She spent most of her life striving for his approval, but no matter how much she accomplished, it was never going to happen. Cody says, he must have been delusional not to see how great she is, and she says, maybe he was. He picks his way through everything, and says, that’s the spirit. If her old man can’t appreciate her, that’s on him, not on her. She asks if it’s really that easy for him, and he says, kind of. He wasn’t that close to his family. His mom – the woman he thought was his mom – she had to work just to put food on the table. She didn’t have time for him. Only if he outgrew his sneakers or she had to tell him that he couldn’t play hockey because she couldn’t afford the pads. She says, thanks, but it’s not the same, and he says, he knows, but he knows what it’s like to be overlooked, and feel like you’re a burden, like you’re not… She says, worth loving? and he says, she’s definitely worth loving. She says, even with what’s been passed down to her?

Holly says, for God’s sake, Victor is the only person she’s not lying to. She’s completely betraying Robert, her friends, and probably several countries because he’s holding her son’s life in his hands. Victor says he’s worked too hard, and come too far. One more life means nothing to him. He’ll kill Luke’s son as easily as he killed Luke himself, although perhaps not as quickly as he killed her sister. She says, he doesn’t have to remind her of everything he’s taken from her, and he says, trust him. She’s got a lot more to lose. And if she’s sloppy in arousing Robert’s suspicions… She says, Robert still trusts her, and he asks, then why wasn’t Anna in the safe house? Holly says she doesn’t know. Anna is an expert at evasion. If she doesn’t want to be found, he won’t find her. He says, lucky for Holly, or Robert woudn’t have given her a second glance years ago. Does it still sting knowing she’s always played second fiddle to Anna?

Michael says he didn’t expect to see Carly here. Everything okay? She says, everything’s fine; she’s just keeping busy. What about them? Is Willow working or does she have an appointment? TJ comes along, and tells them, happy Thanksgiving. Willow says she has a question for him; it’s a nursing thing. They step away, and Carly asks Michael how Willow is doing. Has her pregnancy gotten any easier? He says, actually, he and Willow are kind of nervous. She decided that she’s going to find her birth parents.

Linc says, this is an opportunity for both Blaze and Chase, but Blaze is the one with the following. He asks how many followers she has, and she says, a few million. He says, since Chase is the one riding Blaze’s coattails, he thinks it’s on Chase to make it work. Brook suggests she and Linc grab a coffee at the counter and let the talent talk, and Linc says, a little one-on-one time with BLQ? He’ll be happy to suss things out. They leave, and Chase says he hopes Blaze doesn’t mind him saying so, but she seems a little uncomfortable around Linc; with how touchy and handsy he can be. She says, that’s business. They’re artists, not accountants. It’s all hugs and kisses, not handshakes. Chase says, he’s not talking about schmoozing. What Linc is doing is far beyond that, but she can fight back.

Brook tells Linc to sit a seat away, and he asks, why? She says she’s not letting him grope her, and he says, she always was dramatic. She says, and he always was a sleaze, and by the way he treats Blaze, not much has changed. He says, she doesn’t hear Blaze complaining, does she?

Chase says, what Linc is doing is at the very least sexual harassment, but Blaze says she has a contract with Linc. She’s worked hard to get where she is. She’s not going to blow it now. It doesn’t matter how talented you are if you get a bad rep for being difficult. They’re here to talk about the song. So let’s do that.

Alexis wonders if Esme’s been living in Port Charles all this time, and Sam says she heard Esme posted on social media a few days after the trial from the south of France, but it could have been faked. Alexis says, either she left and came back, or never left at all. But it’s possible she could have attacked Ava back in August. And everyone gets to speculate about that except them. Sam says, don’t drag her into this, and Alexis says, okay. Everyone gets to speculate except her because of Dante. He says, she can speculate all she wants. He’s just not allowed to join in. Go ahead. Alexis says he’s no fun. If they can’t talk about the case, she wants to talk about food. Dante says he likes food, and Alexis asks, what’s Sonny cooking for Thanksgiving? Dante says, it sounds like he’s cooking way too much food; there’s going to be leftovers for weeks, and they’re going to go bad. Sam says, Alexis is good with the kids spending Thanksgiving eve with her, right? and Alexis says, she’s not cooking. The oven will be off. She’s ordering in, and they’re having a little picnic on the floor in the living room. Sam asks if she’s disappointed the kids are going to be at the Q’s for Thanksgiving, and Alexis says, why would she be disappointed? Besides, she gets to have them all to herself tonight. What are Sam and Dante doing for Thanksgiving? Sam says, they’re going to Sonny’s after they drop the kids off at the Q’s. Dante says, and after they go to Sonny’s, they’re going back to the Q’s for pizza. Alexis says, there’s going to be a big crowd at the Quartermaines’, and Dante says, sounds like it. The usual, plus his mom invited Cody, but he’s probably going to have to take a beer to the stables, so Cody doesn’t spend the holiday alone. Sam says, Cody’s not spending the holiday with Britt? and Dante says he doesn’t know. Cody didn’t say.

Nina asks Obrecht if Britt is spending tomorrow with her and Scotty, and Obrecht says, unless she gets a better offer. Nina says, she’s talking about Cody. Are things serious between them? Obrecht says, not yet, but it is inevitable.

Cody asks what Britt means, but she says she doesn’t know how to say it; she never has. She tried to make it go away. She figured if she didn’t acknowledge it… He says, it being… She says, her father’s legacy; the only thing he ever gave her. He looks at the necklace, and asks if she’s talking about… She says she tried to put Faison out of her mind, and it actually worked. Of course (🍷) he’d pop up every up now and then, but he’d never linger. Now she’ll remember him for the rest of her life. However long that is. He tells her not to talk like that; her dad’s dead and gone. She says, but he left something behind, and Cody says, throw it away. She says she can’t, but he says, sure she can. Just give it to him.

Obrecht asks how Nina and Sonny are spending Thanksgiving, and Nina says, Sonny’s hosting. Obrecht says she’s surprised, and Nina asks, why? Family is very important to Sonny. Obrecht says she doesn’t mean to sound harsh, but who in Sonny’s family is speaking to him? Nina says, his daughters, and Obrecht says, the toddling ones, but Nina says, and Kristina, and TJ and Molly, but she’s sure they have other plans. All family are welcome. Obrecht says, even that ingrate Michael?

Carly says, Willow wants to find her birth parents, and Michael says, and any other relatives who might be out there. Carly flashes back to finding out Nina is Willow’s mother, and she tells Michael that she’s curious. What changed Willow’s mind?

Willow tells TJ that she feels like a coward, leaving Michael to deal with his mom, when she’s the one who wants to keep her condition private. TJ says, Michael can deal with his mother. Willow is facing leukemia. She should feel free to handle that however it works for her. She says she knows everyone would be supportive, but she can’t risk Wiley finding out she’s sick. It would scare him too much. He says, they’ll tell Wiley when the time is right, and if that’s many years from now, even better. She says, here’s hoping. Right now, she wants to keep it as quiet as possible. They both look at Michael talking to Carly.

Dante looks at his phone, and Sam says, good news? He says, it could be, if Brook would get back to him. Alexis asks how things are between  Dante and Brook, and we see his text to her says: Where are u? He says, pretty good, but this isn’t about them. It’s about the Civilian Complaint Review Board. They’re going to reevaluate Chase’s case. Alexis asks if he’s going to get his badge back, and Dante says he hopes so. Alexis says she hopes so too. It’s not easy to lose your job. It’s hard to bounce back. Sam says she thought Alexis was happy at The Invader, and Alexis says she’s okay. Dante looks at Brook’s reply: Kelly’s. In meeting. Y? He texts: Need to talk. CCRB needs letter. Brook replies: Will call soon. He says he has to deal with this, and gets up. Sam says, duty calls? and he says, something like that. Alexis asks if there’s anything he’d like to add off the record, and he thanks her for lunch, kisses Sam, and leaves.

Victor says, perhaps the reason Holly isn’t the distraction he’d hoped she’d be is because Robert is waiting for Anna to tire of Valentin. She says, as Valentin has tired of Victor? Why is it his one and only son isn’t by his side, aiding and abetting his crimes? Victor is going to be so lonely when he finally creates whatever ridiculous world it is that he’s forging, and has absolutely no one to share it with. He says, careful where you tread, missy. Lest I teach you the true meaning of loneliness. She says she’s very sorry. She takes it back. Victor knows how loved he is, as Holly knows Robert loves her. Victor says, as she loves Robert? but she says, it doesn’t matter. The only person she cares about at the moment is her son Ethan, and she wants to talk to him. Victor says, he can’t come to the phone right now, and she says, if she doesn’t speak to him, how does she know the worst hasn’t happened? He tells her, don’t be so melodramatic. She gets a proof-of-life photo every day. She says, photos prove nothing, and he says, then she’ll just have to trust him. She says, as he’s going to have to trust her to take care of Robert.

Britt says, give it to him? and Cody says, she didn’t want it anymore, and it probably belongs to him anyway. Win-win, right? She asks what he’s talking about, and he says, her father’s legacy; the necklace. She laughs, and says, he thinks this is about the necklace? He says, it’s hardly just a necklace, and she says, of course (🍷). He asks, what else could she be talking about? and she says, of course (🍷). It’s the $35 million in jewelry on her desk. After all, the only thing Cody cares about is getting rich. She can’t believe she’s even surprised. It was the necklace he wanted; she was just here. He says, this conversation just took a massive wrong turn. He didn’t mean… and she says, he didn’t mean what? He didn’t mean for her to let her guard down? He didn’t mean for her to be vulnerable for five minutes after he’d been grilling her for months? He says he wanted to get to know her, and she says, sure he did, so he could get that stupid necklace. She shoves it into the box, closes it, and says, he wants it so bad? Here you go. She pushes the box at him, and says, get out.

Chase says he’s not sure what Blaze thinks is missing; she’s got some great vocal moments. She says, it’s not the song per se; it’s actually great. He says, so when she was complaining before… She says, totally posturing. She loves it, but when Linc talked about taking her in another direction, this is not what she had in mind. He asks, what’s wrong with the direction she’s on? and she says, between the wigs and the costumes, she doesn’t recognize herself. He says, fair enough. What direction does she want to take this? She says, honestly? She wanted a folk song. He says, she likes folk? and she asks, what’s wrong with it? He says, not a thing, but it’s a 180 from her usual songs. She says, her first manager came up with her look, and she went along with it. Linc signed her as a pop singer, and says, her fans won’t accept her singing anything else. She wants the chance to try new things. Doesn’t he? He says, no, not really, and they laugh. He says he likes things he knows, and she says, singing standards. He says, being a cop, and she says, like in The Village People? He says he was a detective with the PCPD. He kinds of fell into singing. She says, but his heart’s not in it, and he looks at Brook, telling Blaze, he wouldn’t say that.

Michael says, with the baby coming, they decided it’s important to know as much as possible about Willow’s medical history, and Carly says, that makes sense. Willow and TJ come back, and Carly asks how Willow is going about finding her birth parents. Michael says, they’ve been doing their own research, and Drew offered to help. TJ says, sorry. He’s got to run, but happy Thanksgiving. Carly asks what he and Molly are doing tomorrow, and he says, his mom is coming over, and Alexis is going to Sonny’s, which would be super awkward, so they won’t see her until Friday. Carly asks why it would be awkward, and TJ says he thought she knew. She says, what now? and Michael says, Nina accused Willow of sleeping with TJ, and Sonny believed her.

Britt asks what Cody is waiting for. Congratulations. His plan worked. He takes the jewelry box, and she says, now get out of my office, and out of my life. She opens the door, and Robert is there with an officer. He says, sorry to interrupt. It looks like she’s had a break-in. Britt says, no. She wanted it like this. He says, her call, and asks Cody, what’s in the case? Cody says, none of Robert’s business, but Robert says, if it’s a $35 million necklace recovered from Peter August, it is his business. He takes out a paper, and says he has a warrant here for it. Hand it over.

Blaze says, Chase and Brook? And he was giving her a hard time about Linc. He says, it’s completely different. Brook is more than his manager. She says, clearly, and Chase says, Brook is also his best friend. They’ve helped each other through a lot. She says, this business arrangement between them seems one-sided, but he says, they’re both committed to this relationship. She says, but they’re still doing what Brook wants, not what he wants, and he says, singing might not be as fulfilling as police work, but he’s happy to do it for Brook. He’d do anything for her, and he knows she would do anything for him.

Linc says, what Brook needs to accept – she says she can’t wait to hear this pearl of wisdom – she’s old news. What does he need her for when he has Blaze, and he’s thisclose to signing Magdalena Perez. Brook says, she can’t be more then 17, but he says, she’s 18. And don’t let the name fool you; she’s no virgin. Brook says, he’s disgusting. She thought she could stomach working with him, but nope, wrong. He says, fine by him, but she says, this definitely won’t be fine for him, because from this moment on, she will not let him harass one more person. He says, is that right? Whatchu gonna do, BLQ? She says she’s going to expose him for the creep he is. She’s going to tell everyone how he treated her when he was her manager. He says he just has one question. If he’s so awful, why is she working with him now? Do her worst. No one is going to listen to a bitter has-been. She says, it won’t be just her.

Alexis asks Sam, what was the face about when Dante mentioned Cody? Sam says, Cody hinted Dante may have done something… maybe something illegal when he was younger. Alexis asks if she means like egging cars, or going on a random bank heist, and Sam says, they didn’t get into details, but he made it sound serious. Alexis asks, at what age they’re talking about? and Sam says, they lost touch when they were around 16, so she imagines it was before then. Alexis says, did she ask Dante about it? and Sam says, no. Alexis asks what Sam’s thinking, and Sam says, it’s Cody. He’s probably exaggerating, but she has this instinct. She needs to know what happened.

Carly says, Nina lives to cause trouble, and Sonny knows Willow would never do something like that; at least he should. Willow says, Nina claims she was worried how Willow’s affair would affect Wiley, and Carly says, of course (🍷) Nina used Wiley as an excuse. That woman never stops. She tried to make Sonny think there was something going on between her and Brick. Michael says, what? and she says she’ll explain later. She’s got to go. She leaves, and Michael and Willow exchange glances.

Obrecht says, so Nina engaged in a little gossip and got it wrong, and Nina says, really wrong; like twice. Obrecht asks if Nina destroyed Willow and Michael’s saccharine union, and Nina says, no. Obrecht says, then they have no cause for complaint. If they try, let her know. Nina says she thinks she can handle it. The tension with Michael really upsets Sonny, and she doesn’t like seeing Sonny hurt; he feels things very deeply. Obrecht asks if Sonny is treating Nina as well as he should, and Nina says she’s never been happier. Next year – she laughs – maybe they could have Thanksgiving together; Sonny and her, Britt and Cody, Obrecht and Scotty. But they both know that’s never gonna happen.

Cody says, Robert can’t just walk in here and take his necklace, and Britt says, my necklace, jackass. Cody says, she just gave it to him, and she says, it was a futile attempt to shame him. Was he really going to take it? He says, no, but Robert can’t have it. Robert tells Cody, this warrant says he can. And as per the State of New York, they have reason to believe the diamonds in that piece were obtained unlawfully. So until that’s resolved, it stays in their possession. The officer tells Cody, hand over the necklace, and Robert says, best not to resist. Robert Scorpio, his friendly neighborhood DA? And until recently, almost his uncle. Cody says, close call, and Robert says, apparently. The officer holds out his hand, and says, sir? Britt says, for Pete’s sake, and grabs it out of Cody’s hand, giving it to the officer. Robert looks at it, and says, fits the description, and the officer puts it into a briefcase. Britt says, come back any time, and Robert leaves with the officer. Britt tells Cody, he’s on the wrong side of her door. Get out. He says, wait, and closes the door. If she wasn’t referring to the necklace, what legacy is she talking about?

Walking through the hospital, Robert tells the officer, from here, he needs to be escorted to the MetroCourt Hotel. Then he can head back. The officer says, maybe he should stick around, but Robert says he thinks he can handle this, and Bureau guys are coming over. He suggests the officer cuff it to his wrist, and the officer handcuffs the briefcase to Robert. They leave, and Johann comes out from his not-so-secret hiding spot. He calls Victor, and says, the package just changed hands. Victor asks, how? and Johann says, Scorpio went to Westbourne’s office with a cop. Don’t worry. He knows where they’re headed. Victor says, excellent.

Brook says, all she has to do is light a match, and Linc’s career, his reputation, his family will go up in flames.

Blaze says, Chase is kind, sweet, and easy to work with, and he thanks her. She tells him, get out of this business while all that is still true. She has to run. New costume fitting. She has to make sure she can breathe in it. Chase says, it was good working with her, and think about what he said. On her way out the door, Blaze runs into Dante, who says, she’s Blaze, right? She says she is indeed, and he says his son loves her; he’s a big fan. She says, and he doesn’t? but he says he does. He just didn’t recognize her without all the stuff. She says, disappointed? and he says, not at all. She leaves, and Cody asks if he got her autograph. Dante says, no, but he should have. Rocco would love that. What is Blaze doing in Port Charles? Chase says, they’re actually working on a song together, and Dante says, that’s amazing.

Willow says, they’d better head upstairs, and tells TJ, first day of chemotherapy. TJ says, she’s going to do great. If she needs anything, so not hesitate to call. She says she will, and thanks him for the support. Michael says, TJ has been a great friend. TJ leaves, and Michael asks if Willow is ready. She says, absolutely.

Alexis stops Nina as she goes past the table, and asks if she has a second. Nina asks how she can help Alexis, and Alexis says she was wondering why Nina is so sure Esme is The Hook killer. Nina says, that’s really something Alexis should talk to Ava about, not her, but Alexis says, Nina is living with Ava. So if Esme should decide to attack again, Nina could be in danger. Nina says, how about if she talks to Ava about this, and Ava will give Alexis a call? and Alexis says, okay. Nina leaves, and Sam comes back. Alexis tells her, this Hook story keeps getting bigger and bigger, and more dangerous. People keep promising her information they’re not giving her. Meanwhile, she’s sitting on what she knows, which could be helpful. Sam says, she’s talking about the letter the killer sent? and Alexis says, yes. She held back and didn’t print anything in exchange for Jordan giving her an exclusive. Jordan’s given her the runaround, and she’s worried about waiting. Sam asks what she’s going to do.

Britt asks what Cody is still doing here; leave. Cody says, no. He wants to know about this legacy Faison left her. She says, why? It’s not anything he could sell. He says, he made a mistake. He was truly just trying to help her though. She says, how? By taking 35 million off her hands? He says, it didn’t seem like she wanted it, and if he’d known she was talking about something else… She says, goodbye, for good, and he asks if they’re at that point where she slams the door in his face. He made a mistake; he’s sorry. He knows she has a hard time opening up, just like he has a hard time not putting his foot in his mouth; but he can’t be expected to have the perfect reaction every time. She says she didn’t expect him to have the perfect reaction. Hell, she would have taken something somewhat less mercenary. He asks her to please tell him what it would take for her to give him the benefit of the doubt, and she says, more than she has to give. There’s a knock at the door, and she says, come in. Obrecht walks in, and asks, what is going on here? Cody says, absolutely nothing, and walks out.

On the phone, Victor says, you understand?… Good. He tells Holly that her time has come, and she says, meaning? He says, meaning, Robert has acquired something he wants. It’s in a briefcase. Robert is on his way to the MetroCourt, and it’s Holly’s job to intercept him, and get the briefcase. She says, that’s easy enough, but he says, one little wrinkle. The briefcase is handcuffed to his wrist. She says, he’ll have to uncuff at some point. Tonight when he’s asleep, she’ll steal it. Victor says, but the WSB is on their way to recover the contents of that briefcase as they speak. She asks how the hell she’s supposed to get around that, and he says he doesn’t know. She’ll think of something. Let Ethan be her inspiration.

On the phone, Alexis says she’s the editor-in-chief of The Invader. If they’d be so kind as to give Commissioner Ashford a message from her. Tell her that Alexis will be printing the letter the killer sent to her. It will be on the front page of the paper tomorrow. Ask her if she has any comments.

Willow waits for her treatment, and Michael puts his hand on hers.

Carly sees Nina across the room, and they lock eyes.

Linc tells Brook that he did nothing wrong. No woman ever told him no. She says she did, several times, but he says, she overreacted. She says, the only reason women keep quiet about him, the only reason women hold their noses and let him touch them, is because he’s convinced them if they don’t their careers will go buh-bye. Fortunately for her, she doesn’t have to worry about her singing career anymore. Fortunately for them, they won’t have to worry about him anymore. Not when she becomes their manager. He says, she’s going to poach his clients? and she says, that’s right. She’s not just going to expose him; she’s going to completely ruin him. She’ll destroy him. He says, or… she can get her songs back.

Dante tells Chase, he’s been leaving all these messages for Brook. He had to come here to track her down. Chase says, cut her some slack. Brook has been working 24/7 promoting his new single, booking gigs, you name it. Dante says he’s happy to hear how well everything is going for Chase, and Chase says he can’t complain. Dante says, with this new career Chase has, maybe Brook doesn’t have to write the letter, and Chase says, what letter?

Obrecht tells Britt to let her help, but Britt says, please don’t! She frantically picks things up, and Obrecht asks, what happened? Britt says, nothing. Just one more mistake. Obrecht says she thought Britt and Cody were well on their way to being a couple, but Britt says she doesn’t have the time. Obrecht says, please, tell her what’s wrong so she can help, but Britt says, there’s nothing Obrecht can do. She’s sick.

Holly says, Victor is asking the impossible, but he says, nonsense. She’s ideally placed to retrieve the necklace from her ex-husband, providing she’s not lying about Robert still trusting her. She says, it’s not a question of trust; it’s a question of logistics. He says, then what is she waiting here for? Better get going before the WSB gets their hands on the briefcase.

Robert comes out of the elevator at the MetroCourt, the briefcase cuffed to his wrist.

Tomorrow, Linc asks if they have a deal or don’t they; Chase asks Dante what letter Brook was supposed to write; Sonny says, it looks like Drew hit a dead end; and Carly says, if Nina wants to come at her, bring it on.

🍗 A Side of Soap With Your Turkey…

See if your soap is on Thanksgiving Day. GH is a rerun, and there’s football on Friday.

🗽 New York Shame…

Not really anything new, but I’m still shaking my head. What’s wrong with people?

🧂 No Shah No Return…

It doesn’t sound like Jen will be returning. I get it, but I’m waiting for the lawsuit that happens when Teresa flings a glass at an innocent bystander. Why is she still on RHONJ?

👩🏾‍🍳 That Was Fast…

This is too bad. Reality is always more palatable when there’s a distraction like a business involved.

🦕 My Advice, Duck…

I’ve seen the parade in person twice. Once from in front of Macy’s, getting there at 6 am on the coldest day of my life. And again from an office I worked at that was on the parade route, accompanied by mimosas and bagels. I don’t need to tell you which was more preferable. But back to topic, it is really weird when those balloons are over you. Nope. Didn’t like it.

🥗 Low Carbing…

Tomorrow, discussing the Below Deck Med Reunion – which was a real snoozefest – and the usual soap, so come on over. Until then, stay safe, stay gathering innocuous topics for the Thanksgiving meal, and stay knowing what someone means by their father’s legacy before you assume it’s jewelry.

November 3, 2022 – Holly Meets Someone On the Footbridge, That God Awful House Show, Truly Holly, Born Again, Don’t Miss Her, No Receipts, Identified & Leaves

Standard

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Robert walks Holly to her hotel room, and she says, he got her back to her room safe and sound. He says, he lost her once. He doesn’t want it to happen again. She say she’s grateful, but aren’t Mac and Felicia waiting for him? She thought the plan was to get Anna out of all this. He says, Holly was always good in a crisis; come with him. She says she’d love to, but she’s completely done in. So good luck, and goodnight. She goes into her room, and he leaves.

At Charlie’s, a girl tells Chase that she loves the song he sang at The Savoy, and he thanks her, but says, it’s really all Brook’s songwriting. She says, Brook did an amazing job, and thanks them for the picture. Brook and Chase sit down, and Brook says, he doesn’t really have to do that, throw credit her way. All the reviews he’s getting online, and all the in-the-flesh people who want his photograph… He says, one in-the-flesh person, but she says, he knows there’s more. Linc is going to beg to sign him. He says, and when Linc forks over the money for his contract, he’ll announce his retirement from music, and she says, or not. What if he didn’t retire from music?

Curtis and Portia arrive home, and Curtis says he’s officially stuffed. She says she’s officially grateful, and he says, for the tasting menu at the Port Charles Grill? She says, that, and that he wasn’t needed tonight at The Savoy. He says he’s grateful for that too, and she says she likes having her man all to herself. He says, guess what? Her man likes the same thing too, and they kiss.

Trina asks Jordan, a maniac is out there attacking people because of her? She’s to blame for Ava and Diane almost dying, and that bartender being killed? Josslyn says, Trina spoke to Oz Haggerty one time when they both went to The Highsider to find out if he was the one who gave Esme that phone. Carly says, it’s because of his testimony, the charges against Trina were dropped, and Josslyn asks what this means. The Hook’s attacking anybody who was involved in Trina’s trial? Jordan says, unfortunately, it’s looking that way.

Walking into her office on the phone, Maxie says she’s sorry it’s so last minute, but she doesn’t think she can make dinner tonight, and Austin asks, what’s going on?She says, Deception is in freefall. The investors are freaking out because Lucy is missing, Valentin is MIA, and Sasha has a legal guardian now. It’s just been one thing after another. He says, no worries. Mac and Felicia have the kids, right? She says, and Sasha’s on her way into the office. She just doesn’t know how long they can keep the investors from revolting. He says he has every faith in her. He’s sure she’ll figure it all out. She says she hopes he’s right.

At Maxie’s, Felicia tells Mac, the kids are asleep. She doesn’t know how, but James’s head was practically on the floor. Mac asks if she left him that way, and she says, of course (🍷) not, but she did snap a quick picture before putting him into place. He says, of course (🍷) she did, and she asks if all boys sleep like that. (I don’t think so, but my dogs like to sleep that way.) He says he remembers when he was a kid, he’d wake up completely turned around. He wonders if Cody was a restless sleeper. She says she’s sorry he missed out on the chance to tuck in his son, and he says, if Cody’s his son. They just did the DNA test yesterday. She asks what results he’s hoping for, when his phone dings. He says, Robert’s on his way, and she says, just him? He says, apparently, Holly’s exhausted and she’s going to turn in early.

Not quite. Holly peeks out of her room, looks around, and sneaks out.

Diane comes into Maxie’s office with Sasha, and Maxie says, it’s good to see her up and about. She hugs Diane, who says, it’s good to be up and about. What legal input does she require? Maxie says, before they get to that, if Sasha needs her to take the reins, it’s totally understandable. If she needs to take more time… Sasha says, no. It’s time to get back to work. Of course (🍷) she misses Brando every day – every minute really – but she’s in therapy, she’s on medication, and she’s doing better. She’s here to help, and to be a partner again.

Chase says he appreciates Brook’s faith in him, and her thinking he’s good at this singing thing – she says, he is – but this was always just a means to an end. Clearly, he’s not as passionate about this music thing as she is. He’s grateful that it’s keeping him afloat financially… She says, it’s also a means to get back at Linc, and establish her as a manager, and he says, absolutely, but let’s be real. He wouldn’t be doing this if he got his badge back. A young woman comes over to the table, and asks if he’s Harrison Chase, and Brook says, if the woman wants a photo with her client, they’ll have to make it quick, but the woman says she’s not a fan… at least, not yet. She’s Blaze. From what she hears, they’re supposed to make beautiful music together. She and Chase shake hands.

Austin sees Gladys at the hospital, and asks if she’s all right, but she says, nothing’s been right lately, but she’s not sick, if that’s what he was wondering. Sometimes she volunteers at the maternity ward. It brought her some peace after Liam passed… then Brando. But don’t go telling anybody; she has a reputation to uphold. He says, her secret’s safe with him, and he sits with her. She says, she didn’t do Brando right in so many ways. Between this and Sasha’s guardianship, it’s a chance to balance the scales maybe. Austin says, maybe. He knows Maxie is really grateful for her support. She’s at the office with Sasha. Oi. He just remembered, he’s supposed to call Maxie’s parents and check on the kids. She laughs, and he says, what? She says, they both came to town with huge chips on their shoulders, looking out for number one. Now they’re looking out for everyone else. Who says you can’t run you’re your past? Mason walks toward them, and says, hey, Austin.

Jordan says, all of the victims helped prove Trina was innocent. Ava was one of her most vocal defenders; Diane, her lawyer; Haggerty, whose testimony was responsible for her exoneration; and Josslyn, her best friend. Carly asks why she thinks they wanted to hurt Josslyn and not Brando, and Jordan says, Josslyn was in the alley before Brando was attacked. Josslyn says, Dex left his sunglasses and she wanted to return them, but he was gone. Carly says, so Jordan thinks they were targeting Josslyn, and Brando just got in the way? Jordan says, that’s the working theory, and Carly says, so Josslyn’s in danger. Jordan says she’s here out of an abundance of caution, but if they’re right, the perpetrator may be fixated on Trina and those closest to her. Josslyn asks what the new evidence is, and Jordan says, a letter from the killer.

Curtis asks if Portia has any idea when his genetic testing results will be in, and she says, maybe a week. Is he anxious about it? He says he feels better it’s done now. It was the whole do I or don’t I that was causing the most stress. She says she gets that, and he says he finally realized how important it was for him to find out if he’s predisposed to schizophrenia, especially since it could affect their kids. She says, kids-s-s-s. He keeps saying that, plural. How many kids is he considering? He says he thinks six would be fine, and she says, stop. He says, they’ve got the room for it, and she tells him, he’s out of his ever lovin’ mind. No. He says, okay, maybe he was a bit overzealous. Three should be nice. Her phone chirps, and she says, it’s an email from Olivia. The MetroCourt ballroom is available. They might be able to get married there after all. He says he thought she told him it was booked until 2024, but she says, maybe there was a cancelation, and Olivia thought of them… Never mind; it’s on Valentine’s Day. Forget it. He says, Valentine’s Day in 2023? and she says, that is way too soon, but he says, let’s do it.

Mac tells Robert, he’s got good news and bad news, and Robert says, start with the good. Mac says, no new evidence has turned up against Anna, and Robert says, what about the bad? Mac says, ADA Arden thinks she has enough to convince a jury to convict, and Robert says he’s trying to find a judge lenient enough to grant Anna bail. Felicia says, any chance of keeping Anna where she is to await trial? and Robert says, if she goes to Pentenville, they can’t protect her.

Holly stands on the footbridge, when someone joins her. Victor says, beautiful night, isn’t it? He hopes she has some news for him.

Blaze sits down, and Brook says she’s sorry they didn’t recognize her without all the makeup and wardrobe. Blaze says, the glam squad and entourage are for show; 100% property of Linc Brown Management. Hopefully, not for long. Chase says he’s listened to her music; it’s fantastic. Brook agrees, and Blaze thanks them. She says, no Linc yet. She assumes Brook has met him, and Brook says, they go way back. Blaze asks how long Chase and Brook have been in bed together, so to speak, and Brook says, she only recently started managing Chase. She sees huge potential, and sees huge potential in a collaboration with the two of them. Linc approaches the table, and says, on that, they agree. When he’s right, he’s right. Is this a match made in heaven, or what?

Portia asks if Curtis realizes February 14th is less than six months away, and he says he’s well aware of how time works. She asks if he really thinks they can pull together an entire wedding in that time, and he says, why not? She says she can think of a million reasons; the invitations, the cake, catering, music, her dress…  He says, they’ll just hire a wedding planner, but she says, they’re booked years in advance. He says, they’ll do it themselves. They can make this happen… unless she thinks it’s too soon. She says, that’s exactly what she thinks.

Maxie says, the goal is to keep the investors at bay without breaching ethics, and Diane says, then in her opinion, the best course of action would be to pay an additional dividend to said investors. Maxie says she’s game, and thinks Serena would agree on Lucy’s behalf. Is that something Sasha would be open to? Sasha says, whatever it takes to keep the company afloat, but Diane says, unfortunately, it’s not up to Sasha.

Mason says he’s sorry to interrupt, but needs to talk to his cousin, and Gladys says she didn’t know Austin had family in town. She introduces herself, and Austin suggests he and Mason talk in his office, hustling Mason away.

Jordan says, the article in The Invader seems to have elicited a response from the Hook, but Carly says, that article was published weeks ago. Tons of crazy people must have responded. What makes Jordan think the actual killer is reaching out now? Jordan says, the letter was originally sent to the wrong address, hence the delay in delivery, and there were details that indicate the letter was genuine. Trina asks if their names were on it, and Jordan says, no, but it was very clear the attacks weren’t random; the killer has a score to settle. Josslyn says, with Trina? This makes no sense. Trina says, oh my God. Is Esme back in Port Charles attacking people with a hook?

Robert says, he ran into Sonny in Rice Plaza, and he offered to help Anna, and Felicia asks, help how? Robert says, he didn’t ask for details. He just said no, Anna doesn’t need Sonny’s assistance. Felicia asks if he’s sure that was a good idea, and Mac says, Felicia. She tells him, she’s just saying, isn’t Anna’s safety most important? They have less than 24 hours before she’s transferred to Pentenville. Mac asks Robert if everything is okay, and Robert says he’s just debating if he should call or see Holly. There was something off about her when he said goodnight.

Victor asks, what’s Robert’s latest plan for Anna? and Holly asks where his pet is. He says, Johann’s not far. He knows better than to be alone with the Holly Sutton. She was disappointingly vague on the phone earlier. Does Robert have a plan to keep Anna out of Pentenville, or not? She says, he’s trying to get a new judge assigned to Anna’s case; one who would be open to granting bail. Victor says, that’s easily taken care of. Anything else? She is keeping up her end of the bargain, isn’t she? Her friends don’t suspect she’s lying to them with every breath. She says, as if he’s given her any choice, and he says, admit it. She’s having just the teensiest bit of fun. She says, betraying her friends isn’t fun; it’s torture. He says, not as bad as being back in that cell, and she says, two years in that prison was more than enough. He says, then be a good girl, and do what she’s told. She says, what if she doesn’t? and he says, then he’ll do the same thing he did to Lucy Coe.

Brook says, Chase brings an innocence to the music, while at the same time, having no lack of sex appeal. Blaze says, sexy innocence, huh? And here she thought the boy band craze was dead. Linc puts his hand on hers, and says she brings a good counter-balance. She slips her hand away, and Linc says, Blaze is more, been there, done that. Brook says, what she meant to say is, Chase isn’t naïve. He’s a rock star. He’s a performer and an artist, just like Blaze. Chase says, and a person who can occasionally speak for himself, believe it or not. Brook suggests they give Chase and Blaze some time to get to know each other. She and Linc have some details to discuss. Linc says, happy bonding, and he and Brook step away.

Trina says, who else could it be? It’s Esme. Diane told Jordan that she was attacked by a woman. Jordan says, slow down. They have reason to believe Esme was in the south of France at the time of Ava’s attack. Have either of them seen or heard anything that leads them to believe Esme’s back? Josslyn says, no, and Carly says, Esme is capable of violence. She torched Ava’s car, and tried to kill Haggerty with a drug overdose. Jordan says, which absolutely puts her on their radar as someone they’re trying to bring in, but it’s too soon to focus on one suspect, since they don’t know anything for sure. She tells Trina and Josslyn, they really should be on their guard just in case, and she doesn’t think they should go back to PCU.

Portia says she can’t wait to be Curtis’s wife. It’s just not a lot of time to plan a wedding. She’d marry him tomorrow. She loves him. He says he loves her too, and they kiss. He says, since they’re both ready to get married right away, why not Valentine’s Day? He can’t think of a better way to celebrate their love. Can she?

Robert says he’s worried about Holly. The fact she’s been through two years of her life, and can’t account for it… Is somebody making her forget? Mac says, maybe she’s blocking out something she can’t stand to remember, and Felicia says, she tried to get Holly to open up, but she didn’t want to talk about it. Maybe she’s afraid of what will happen if those memories come back. Robert says, whatever she’s been through, he’s going to be there for her, and Felicia says, they all will.

Holly says, Robert’s not easily deterred, and Victor says, that’s why she’s here, to distract him. Otherwise, he’d have to take Robert out permanently. She says she’ll take care of Robert. Damn him for making her do this. He says he thought she’d be more grateful. He bought her freedom from Winston Rudge, after all. If he hadn’t done that, she would have died in that explosion. She says she’ll never thank him for letting her loved ones think she was dead all this time, but he tells her, be reasonable. He couldn’t have her running around spoiling his plans. Besides, he thought she would come in handy, and look, here we are. She says, once Anna is in prison, he’ll let her go; that’s the arrangement. He says, once Anna is convicted of Lucy’s murder, she’ll be free, but remember who she left behind. She says, you hurt him, and I’ll kill you myself.

Trina says, Jordan wants them to stop going to classes? but Jordan says, no. They can still attend classes but she’d like them to live at home for the time being. Carly says, she’s right; they’re way too accessible in the dorms. Jordan says, and when they’re on campus, make sure they’re not alone. Carly says she wants eyes on Josslyn 24/7, and knows Trina’s mother feels the same way about her. Trina guesses that makes sense, and Josslyn agrees. Jordan says she’ll take Trina to get her things, then drop her at her mom’s. Carly asks, what about Josslyn? and Josslyn says she has stuff to spend the night, and she’ll get the rest tomorrow. Trina says she can’t believe this. Just when life was starting to get back to normal. She and Josslyn hug, and Josslyn says, they’ll deal with it like they’ve dealt with everything else, okay? Carly thanks Jordan, who leaves with Trina, and Josslyn and Carly hug.

Curtis tells Portia, come on, take this leap with him, and she says, a Valentine’s Day wedding is such a ridiculous idea, but he says he thinks it’s fantastic. She says, everybody is going to have plans, but he says, ain’t nobody going to miss it. It’s going to be the party of the year. She says she hasn’t started shopping for a dress yet. What if he has to see her walk down the aisle in something he’s seen her wear 1000 times before? He says he already knows she’ll look beautiful in it, because he’s never seen her look otherwise. She says, okay, yes. Valentine’s Day wedding, here we come, and they hug.

Austin shoves Mason in his office, and says, Mason needs to watch it. Mason asks if he’s not allowed to introduce himself to Austin’s friends, and Austin says, just stop. Stop harassing him; this is where he works. Mason says he’s just here to inform Austin, there’s a patient coming in from up north. Poor guy had an accident playing with his kid’s BB gun. Those things are dangerous as all get out. Austin says he’s heard you can shoot your eye out, and Mason says, luckily, the family was able to stop the bleeding, but he’s going to need medical care. Austin says, and no medical professional would think the injury came from an actual bullet. Mason says, gee, he didn’t think about that, but if that were the case, he guesses the hospital would have to inform the authorities. He guesses that’s why the boss wants it handled discreetly. She knows she can count on Austin. Austin asks, what if he says no? What happens then?

Gladys comes to Maxie’s office, and says she got here as soon as she could. What’s the emergency? Diane says, in order to keep Deception investors from bailing, the partners are willing to take temporary salary cuts and forego bonuses in order to pay additional dividends. Sasha says, which she’s all for, but right now her financial decisions are up to Gladys, since Gladys is her guardian. Diane says she’ll let them sort it out, and shows Maxie her crossed fingers before she leaves. Sasha says, it’s just a formality, but Gladys says, there’s no way she’s signing off on this, and Maxie looks like she has a headache

Mac pours them all glasses of wine, and Felicia asks if he’s going to tell Robert. Robert says, tell him what? and Mac says, Robert has enough on his mind. Robert says, this will be one more thing, so spill, and Mac says, it turns out he might have a son. Dominique’s son showed up in town, and the timing fits. Robert says, when? and Mac says, when they might have… but Robert says, no. When did the kid show up in town? Felicia says, a few months ago, and Robert says, Mac is just telling him now? Mac says he didn’t know at first, then Cody didn’t want anything to do with him. Robert says, Cody Bell? That dude Mac pointed to at the MetroCourt? Mac says, he agreed to a DNA test, and Robert asks what Mac thinks. Mac says, about possibly having a son who’s a complete stranger? and Felicia says, he won’t be a stranger for long if he turns out to be part of their family. Robert smacks Mac on the back of the head, and says, that’s for not telling him. Mac knows he hates secrets.

Victor says, his guest isn’t the worse for wear, and Holly says, he better stay that way. He says, complete her assignment, and he’ll happily bid the pair of them adieu. She says, you bastard, and he tells her to watch her tone. Remember, he has his life in his hands. One misstep from her, and… He claps his hands together, rubs them, and flicks an invisible something away like it’s a bug.

The elevator door opens, Robert says, room for one more? and Diane says, it’s good to see him. He says, it’s good to see her out and about, and she thanks him for his support while she was in the hospital. She asks if she can buy him a drink, but he says he’ll have to take a bit of a raincheck. He’s off to pick up Holly. She says she heard about Holly’s reappearance. It’s so fascinating. They spent one whole afternoon talking about their past glories, and voila! One of his returns to the fold, as if he willed it into existence. He says he’s very grateful, and she says she hopes it’s everything he wants, and pats his hand. He gets out of the elevator, and Diane looks tearful.

Sasha asks what Gladys means, she won’t sign off, and Gladys says she means exactly that; the answer’s no. Maxie says, Austin’s not picking up, so she’s going to check on him, and leave them to figure this out. She leaves, and Sasha says, my money, my choice. Gladys says she agrees, but it’s her job legally to make sure it’s a good choice, and Sasha says, if Deception stock tanks, there will be no company. Please understand, what she and Maxie are going is for the best.

Blaze says, Chase got discovered by some cosmetics tycoon who heard him singing in the shower, and he says he guesses so. She’s a good person. Blaze says, it’s like how Marilyn Monroe was discovered in a munitions factory; it all sounds so fake, made up. He says, like a stage name, or is she going to tell him Blaze is on her birth certificate. She says, fine. She’s Ally, or more formally Alison. He says, and she’s giving him grief for his sweet innocent vibe, and she says, in this era where labels are meaningless and streams are king, everyone needs a schtick. She’s guessing his ex-boy-in-blue thing is going to take him pretty damn far. Linc tells Brook, their talent is hitting it off.

Robert knocks at Holly’s door, but there’s no answer. He starts to leave, as she comes around the corner, and she asks if it’s her imagination, or didn’t they already say goodnight? He says, she looks freezing. Where has she been? She says she put her head on her pillow, and found herself wide awake, of course (🍷), so she went for a walk. She thought the fresh air might help, but no gloves. He takes her hands in his, and says, she always forgot her gloves. She says, so she’s the problem, is she? It’s Port Charles; it’s too cold. He says, she never complained before… Wait a minute. She did, a lot. She says, at least he was there to keep her warm, and he says, they were the days, and they kiss.

Blaze leaves, and Brook tells Chase, she seems nice. He says he’s not sure she feels the same way about her manager, and Brook says, does anyone feel that way about Linc? He tells her, he’s just saying, the way things went down between Brook and that guy… but she says, they don’t know anything is wrong. They might just be projecting based on her experience with Linc. Just stop being a cop for one night. He says, copy that, and she says, the best way to neutralize Linc is to make sure Chase is the next big thing, and that’s what they’re going to do.

Josslyn tells Carly, she can’t stop thinking about Brando. The killer was there to attack her, not him. Carly says, he’s not dead because of her, and Josslyn says she knows, but it’s so strange. Carly says she’s so sorry Josslyn is going through all this. She’s sorry this is happening to her. Josslyn says, they just wanted this to be a somewhat normal year. Her and Trina being regular college students, and hanging out with their friends on campus. Now someone’s targeting them? Carly hugs her, and says she’ll never let anyone hurt Josslyn.

Jordan brings Trina home, and Curtis asks, what’s up? Trina says she needs to stay here for a while, and Portia says, okay. Why? What happened? Jordan says she thinks for the time being, it might be safer for Trina to stay here than in the dorms, and Portia says, safer? Trina says, there was a letter. Esme Prince may be trying to kill her. Curtis says, what letter? and Jordan says, he knows the letter Alexis printed in The Invader. He says, baiting the killer? and Jordan says, Alexis heard back, but they’re not certain Esme is the one attacking people; it’s just one possibility. Trina says, who else hates her enough to attack the people associated with her? and Curtis says he noticed the connections to Trina, but what about Brando? That just doesn’t fit. Jordan says, they think the killer was after Josslyn in the alley, and Brando just got in the way. So whoever the attacker is, they’re punishing those they feel wronged them. They think their cause is just. Portia says, she is literally gutting people with a hook. She’s insane. Now Jordan is telling her that she’s focused on Trina? Jordan says, that’s one theory they’re pursuing, but they don’t have enough evidence to merit police protection. So she’d feel better if Josslyn and Trina were extra cautious, just until the killer is caught.

Gladys says, okay, Sasha wins, and Sasha thanks her. Gladys says she’s just looking out for Sasha’s best interests. She takes her role as guardian very seriously. She may have failed her Brando in life, but she will do right by his family in death. That’s what he would have wanted, for Sasha to be healthy and happy and secure. They hug.

Austin says he paid his debt, but Mason says, Austin knows that’s not possible. Austin says, Mason needs to hear him; he’s done. He’s done with Mason. He’s done with Mason’s boss. He’s a different person. Mason says he’s sure Austin is. Tell him, why is that? Maxie walks in.

Mac says, he loved raising Robin, Maxie, and Georgie, and Felicia says, those girls were so lucky. He says, no luckier than him. He will admit there were times, especially in those high school years, he thought raising a boy would be easier; maybe then he wouldn’t be so out of his depth. Now that he’s facing the possibility of actually having a son, he has no idea how to reach out to him. She says, he’ll find way; he always does. He says, so many people told him, biology doesn’t matter. That not being related to the girls doesn’t make them any less his. She says, those people would be correct, and he says, now he’s on the other side of that. Just because he and Cody share the same DNA doesn’t mean that bond will magically appear. She says, it doesn’t mean it won’t either, and he says, if Cody is his son, they have plenty of time to make up for. She asks if he wants the chance to be Cody’s father, and he says, yeah, he does, and they hug.

Holly says, that was unexpected, and Robert says, some things just never change. He kisses her hand, then asks if she’s all right. She says, there’s something she hasn’t told him.

Still on the footbridge, Victor’s phone rings. He asks if they were able to convince the bank manager to release the information, and looks at his phone. He sees a photo of the necklace, and says, this might finally be it. My thought: the Ice Princess.

Robert says, Holly knows she can tell him anything, and she says she may not remember much of the past two years, but this she’s certain of. It was him, and the thought of seeing him one day, that kept her going. They kiss again, and she yawns. He says, definitely not the best result he’s ever had, and she laughs. She says she promises there was nothing about that kiss that was boring, but that walk is catching up with her now; she’s exhausted. He says, maybe she should go to bed. They’ll talk tomorrow. She says, of course (🍷), he kisses her cheek, and they go their separate ways, Holly watching as he walks down the hall.

Tomorrow, Jordan asks how Portia is going to go into this marriage with a big secret hanging over her head; Mason asks if Austin wants to tell her, or should he; and Carly tells someone, they have to leave.

⛷ Having gotten done with other work early, and because I’m a glutten for punishment, I paid a little more attention to Winter House. I’m happy to report it’s still just as awful. Maybe more because, Craig. At Austen’s sinner’s party, everyone was supposed to repent about something they’d done to someone else at the table. No doubt this list is longer than Santa’s, but no one said much of anything. Craig told Paige that he knew it wasn’t easy dating him, which was the understatement of the year. Austen pulled Ciara aside, and she said she had feelings for him, but she wanted to have fun. He said he’d been a ticking time bomb in the summer, which she amended to a complete a-hole, and we flashed back to that. In Austen’s interview, he said he was drunk and single last summer, but it wasn’t the person he wanted to be. In other words, he didn’t want to be Shep. Ciara suggested therapy, and after their conversation, Austen promptly peed out the door and into the snow. I’m not even kidding. Paige suggested Ciara be aloof, then had to explain what she meant. Jess kept calling Kory Craig, which pissed him off highly. In Kory’s interview, he basically said nice guys finished last, and Luke and Austen should take a page from his book. The morning after was literally horrifying to look at, but no surprise. Paige hoped moving forward, good things would happen with Craig, and she could push all the bad stuff down. I ask you, is this any way to live? In Jess’s interview, she said she didn’t know if Kory didn’t like her or was playing a good game of chess. Kudos to him, because it’s working. Ugh.

The Toms – Schwartz and Sandoval – arrived, Sandoval looking like a matador or silent movie star. And I mean neither in a complimentary way. In their interview, Schwartz said he thought this would be a safe place for him to crush a beer can on his head. Probably. Everyone put on odd, wintry costumes, and had an Arctic Games Biathlon – the Polar Bears vs the Snow Crushers – where they did nonsensical challenges in the snow. This kind of stuff always looks like fun. It’s when they go indoors that it turns into Idiot Kingdom. Or if they get around a bonfire. Really any time they’re drinking. Craig fell and hurt his knee, and even though it was nothing major, he didn’t want to play anymore. In Kyle’s interview, he wondered if Craig was always a little bitch, so make that, it could turn into Idiot Kingdom anywhere at any time. Baby Craig cried and whined, and I missed who won. Not that it matters.

Sandoval wanted everyone to have fun, and not worry about things like dishes. He thought if he started cleaning and having fun, everyone would, which ended up being three people. Schwartz told Kyle that he was in his own little stress bubble, and in his interview, he said, it was the most stressed he’d ever been in his life. The guys from the Polar Bears team did snow angels wearing only their underwear, so I assume they lost. Rachel wasn’t sure if she really liked Jason, or it was just the vacation vibe.

At dinner, Ciara wondered why Craig was being a jerk, and he said he was just expressing himself. She suggested he figure out anther way do it, and in Paige’s interview, she said, Craig was wearing on her, but she didn’t want to add to stress he was giving the house, which was already at a level 10. They went to a bar that looked like it was in a sports arena or a school cafeteria. It was weird. Kyle went on and on about being in the honeymoon stage to Schwartz, who said it was complicated with Katie, but in his interview, said he wasn’t ready to admit Katie had left; not to his friends, or even himself. Many shots were taken. Paige told Rachel that Jason was into her, and in Rachel’s interview, she said she didn’t like to be confused about who was interested in her. Maybe he should pass her a note. Sandoval talked to Austen about Olivia, and asked if he was free to hook up with other girls, as Austen eyeballed Ciara dancing on the bar. Austen gave Sandoval the old we haven’t put a title on it, and said, if he grew balls, he’d ask Olivia to marry him in two years. Sandoval said, that’s okay. He wasn’t hooking up either. I hope not, since Adriana will probably watch this. After they got back, it just got sloppy. Jess thought she’d get lucky, but grossed out by the filth in her room, Kory backed away. Rachel kissed Jason goodnight, and he wondered what happened. in his interview he said he wasn’t a first move kind of guy, and wondered if a fling was in the works.

The did some skiing and snowboarding at a resort, and Kory told the guys that he could have hooked up, but he denied her. Jess told the girls that she was in love, only half-kidding, because we’re 14. Paige talked to Amanda about Craig being an a-hole, and not acknowledging that other people had feelings. Amanda said she’d been where Paige was, and we flashed back to Kyle being a-hole #1 in the house. Paige said, it weighed on her. I just don’t get it. If a guy had acted like that much of a d*ckhead to my friends when we were dating, we would have no longer been dating. Nope. No Craig’s or Kyle’s in my past.

Next time, Jess and Kory (I think) hook up; Austen says, Olivia is joining them; and Jess is at odds with the other children.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

On the phone at Kelly’s, Josslyn leaves a message for Trina, saying, she hopes Trina and Rory are having fun. She’s sure they’re having more fun than her. Cam is working and she’s trying to work on a paper at Kelly’s. Please call or text her back. Dex approaches her table.

At the hospital, Elizabeth tells Cameron to make sure his brothers do their homework right after school. She appreciates him taking care of them, especially on such short notice, and she’s sorry in advance for them giving him a hard time. He asks if they’re too cool to have their older brother taking care of them, and she says, too cool, too old, too responsible, you name it, but she’s going to feel better knowing he’s with them. Which reminds her – she takes her phone out of her pocket – Doc and Scotty are on call in case he needs them, and she’s sending him the contact info of where she and Terry will be staying. He looks at his phone, and says, got it. He looks at it, and says, she’s going to Monterey? She can’t go there.

Finn asks if Terry is excited about the big trip, and she says she is. Not a bad location for a medical conference, right? He says it’s good of her to bring along Elizabeth as her plus one, and she says she’s looking forward to getting time with Elizabeth, and of course (🍷) learning new stuff from their colleagues. He says she doesn’t have to pretend with him. He knows the real reason she and Elizabeth are going away.

At the bank or whatever it is, Mr. Lowell looks at Britt’s ID, and says he’ll be right out with her safe deposit box. She says, it’s not hers; her late brother left it to her. Cody says, it would be under Peter August, and Britt says, or Henrik Faison. Cody says, he was into names, and Lowell says, good to know, and leaves. Britt says, he was into names? and Cody says, it just came out. How is she doing? She says, she’s filled with dread, anxiety, and more dread, and he says, maybe it won’t be so bad. The place seems legit so far. She says, things were never what they seemed with Peter. He was nothing if not surprising.

Ava is shaking a martini, when Nina comes home, and says, it’s a little early, doesn’t she think? And don’t say it’s 5 o’clock somewhere. Ava tells Nina that she wasn’t going to say that. It’s true though. She made herself a double, but she’s feeling generous. Care to join her? Nina says, maybe… Yeah. What’s the occasion? Are they toasting a celebration or drowning their sorrows? Ava says she’ll give Nina one guess.

Walking into the MetroCourt on the phone, Victor says, keep him apprised of the Anna Devane situation. He wants to be updated on any developments. He sees Nikolas sitting at a table, and says, in the meantime, he’ll be focusing his attention on family.

Cody asks, what happens if the box is totally empty? and Britt says, it will be an hour of her life she can’t get back. He says, she’d be free, and never have to think about Peter again, and she says, that would be nice, but let’s be real. That box probably has Jimmy Hoffa in it. Cody and I laugh, and he says, or the location of Amelia Earhart’s plane. She says, or a bar of stolen gold from Fort Knox. Whatever it is, the odds are high or very high that it will complicate her life. He says, not necessarily for the worse, and she asks if that isn’t the definition of a complication. He says, within a complication is an obstacle, and she doesn’t strike him as the kind of person to run from a challenge. She says, not her M.O., and he says, there must be a part of her that thinks whatever’s in there is worth it. or she woudn’t have come here.

Nikolas tells Victor that he hopes it’s important; he doesn’t have much time. Victor can’t imagine what’s more pressing than family, and Nikolas says, it’s on par. Victor says, then he’ll get straight to the point. He ran into Nikolas’s wife yesterday. Nikolas says, he’s aware. Ava came storming into Wyndemere, demanding to know why Victor implied he wanted a divorce. Victor had no right to go behind his back. Victor says he didn’t know he was speaking out of turn. Nikolas assured him that his divorce was being handled. Nikolas says, if Victor is going to force him to divorce the woman he loves, Victor can at least let him do it on his timetable. Victor says, Nikolas seems to be under the misapprehension that he has some semblance of control here. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Ava and Nina clink glasses, and take a sip of their martinis. Ava says, this is nice, and Nina says, very nice. It’s been quite a day, and it’s not even over with. Ava asks, what happened? and Nina says, Olivia let her have it this morning, again. It’s painfully clear Olivia is never going to accept Nina as her partner. Ava says, who cares? Nina and Sonny are going strong, and Nina’s kicking ass at the MetroCourt. Life is good. Nina says, she and Sonny had to meet with Martin this morning about Sasha. The courts were going to appoint a stranger to be Sasha’s guardian, until Gladys stepped in. Ava asks if that’s fortunate, and Nina says, it’s the best possible outcome right now. Gladys isn’t an easy person, but she genuinely cares for Sasha, and she was Brando’s mother. And Sasha was happy that it was Gladys, and not some court appointed stranger, and that’s all that matters. Ava downs her drink, and says, how about another one? Nina takes the glass out of Ava’s hand, and says, how long is this roommate situation going to last?

Terry says, don’t be mad at Elizabeth, and Finn asks why he would be mad. Violet runs in, and over to Finn, yelling, daddy! Gregory follows her in, and Finn picks Violet up. She asks if he’s ready to go buy her Halloween costume. Gregory says, welcome to his life for the past hour. He says hello to Terry, and Violet asks if Finn is ready. He says, she’s really, really early, and Gregory says he tried his best. Violet says she was too excited to wait, and Finn asks her to let him finish his conversation with Dr. Randolph, and he’ll meet them in his office. She asks if she can watch the video of Uncle Chase singing, and Finn gives her his phone, telling her, knock herself out. Violet and Gregory leave, and Finn tells Terry, he’s not mad. She realized Elizabeth could use a few days away, and found a way to make that happen, and he’s grateful. If he’d suggested the same thing, it would not have gone over as well. Terry says she doubts that, but she’s hoping this will be good for Elizabeth. Give her a chance to think, and with any luck, get her the answers she’s looking for.

Cameron says, Monterey is where Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Caroline live. Isn’t she worried about running into them? Elizabeth says, the thought didn’t cross her mind, but she doesn’t want him to worry. She went grocery shopping, but if they want to order pizza, go for it. And she knows he’s going to roll his eyes, but while she doesn’t mind Josslyn coming over, she doesn’t want her spending the night. He says, that’s definitely not going to happen anyway, and she asks if things aren’t going well between the two of them.

Dex says hi to Josslyn, and she says, hello, barely acknowledging him. He asks if this is how it’s going to be, and she asks if he still works for Sonny. He says he does, and she tells him, then yes, this is how it’s going to be. He sits down, and says, he knows they have differing opinions when it comes to Sonny. She says, the man who had him hung up on a meat hook, and he says he hasn’t forgotten. She says, so he’s just choosing to ignore it, or worse, make excuses for Sonny. He says, regardless of what she thinks of him, he’ll always be grateful to her for saving his life. She says, the life he doesn’t give a damn about. He says, that’s not true, and she says, prove it; quit his job. He says he can’t, and she says, he loves the mob so much? He says, that’s not it. It’s complicated. She tells him to please enlighten her.

Cameron says, things are fine between him and Joss, and Elizabeth asks what he meant. He says he doesn’t want to talk about it, and she says she respects his privacy, but if he wants to talk, she’s here. He says, things have been difficult since he and Joss were videotaped. They’ve been struggling to find their footing. She says, because of Esme. She hates what that girl did to them. He says, at least she’s gone now, and Elizabeth says, she should be in prison. She’s sorry for not making things easier during that time; she was dealing with her own issues… He tells her, don’t. He’s so happy she’s feeling better, and doing something for herself. She says she’s going to miss them, and he says, he’s going to miss her too. She says, when she gets back, they’ll do something fun as a family. He says he thought Aiden and Jake were too cool for something like that, and she says, probably, but she’s still the mom. He says, fair enough, and the elevator comes. They hug, and Cameron gets on, saying, he’ll see her soon.

Josslyn tells Dex to explain what she’s not getting, and he flashes back to telling Michael, Sonny had this coming. He tells Josslyn that he needs this job, and she says, because there’s not one other thing he can do for a living, other than running errands for the man who almost killed him. He asks what she expected Sonny to do, and she says, not that. He says, Sonny thought he stabbed Avery’s mom and his lawyer, and killed his cousin. Of course (🍷) Sonny took action against him. But Sonny didn’t put two bullets in his head, and bury him in the woods. Sonny didn’t kill him first, and ask questions later. He’s not happy about what happened, but Sonny apologized, and he’s choosing to accept that, because Sonny’s an honorable man. She says, Sonny has never been an honorable man. Just look at what happened to Jason.

Cody says he hopes what they find doesn’t change things between him and Britt. She says, why would it? and he says he knows how jumpy she is about her family. He hopes whatever it is doesn’t mess up the peace they’ve found in the last couple days. She says she can’t make any promises, and he laughs. He says, she can’t even agree they’ve found peace, and she says, how about this? His support has been shockingly helpful throughout this whole thing. Better? He says he’ll take it.

Ava asks if Nina is kicking her out, and Nina says, of course (🍷) not. She’s surprised at how much she loves having Ava here. Ava says, they’ve certainly come a long way, and Nina says, she loved giving Ava a place to stay while she recovered, but she’s better now. And even though Nina has plenty of space, it’s feeling less like a temporary stay, and more and more like a place to hide. Why is Ava avoiding problems with her husband?

Victor says, this outrage over the woman Nikolas loves is laughable. Do they even bother to keep score anymore? They go back and forth ad nauseum, between breaking up and some over-the-top declaration their devotion to each other. And that’s only while he’s been here. Nikolas asks why he cares, and Victor says, because it’s becoming tedious to those around them. Nikolas says he’s sorry his marital woes are rough on Victor, and Victor says, a marriage that will soon be over. He and Nikolas have an understanding. Nikolas says, things have changed since then, and Victor asks, how so? Nikolas says, he’ll learn in time, but Victor says he won’t allow Nikolas to put the rest of the family at risk with his obsession over Ave. He’s gone to great lengths to insure the future of the Cassadines. Nikolas says, so has he. Victor needs him. The Cassadine legacy is in Nikolas’s hands.

Dex says, Jason Morgan, Sonny’s former enforcer, and right hand man?  and Josslyn says, and now he’s dead. That’s what’s going to happen if Dex stays in this position. He says he understands Jason didn’t die doing anything for Sonny, and she says, he died in Greece, trying to help a friend. But Jason worked for Sonny since he was younger than Dex. Over the years, Jason was shot more times than she can count. He was arrested more times than she can count. He was sent to prison. He never had anything of his own. Whenever he tried to do something for himself, he failed, because his loyalties were always with Sonny. Dex says, maybe that’s how he wanted it, and she says, of course (🍷) that’s how he wanted it. Jason never did anything he didn’t want to do. What gets her is, Jason’s justification was always how great a man Sonny was; this noble guy who loved his family, and would always take care of her mom. She and Jason were best friends; beyond. Sonny knew that. Jason would literally do anything for her mom, and not two months after Jason was gone, Sonny betrayed her mother, his family, and everything he was supposed to stand for. Really think about that. Sonny was able to betray a man who devoted his entire life to him. Who would have, and did, take a bullet for him. Sonny considered him a brother. How long before Sonny betrays Dex?

Terry asks if Elizabeth is ready, and Elizabeth says she appreciates Terry doing this with her. Terry says she’d do anything for Elizabeth, and Elizabeth says, accompanying her to find answers to long buried secrets goes above and beyond. Terry says, there is one thing… and Elizabeth says, it’s too much to ask. Terry says, not at all, but she’d be a bad friend if she didn’t say she thinks Elizabeth is making a mistake.

Finn says, sorry he’s late, but Gregory says, Halloween costume shopping can wait while Finn saves lives. Finn thanks Gregory for looking after Violet, but Gregory says, after all the time he missed out on, he values every moment with his granddaughter. Finn says, he might change his mind after this afternoon, but Gregory says, a little shopping doesn’t scare him, and Finn laughs. Gregory asks if everything is okay with Terry, and Finn says, she’s taking Elizabeth to a medical conference in Monterey. It’s a spa, so it should be nice after everything Elizabeth’s been through. Violet runs over with Finn’s phone, and asks who’s this? showing him a picture of Finn and Reiko.

Victor asks, what the hell is Nikolas talking about? and Nikolas says he can’t tell Victor yet. Victor turns away, and Nikolas says, Victor doesn’t like being left out of the loop on mysterious plans; imagine that. Victor says, Nikolas has to earn the necessary trust, and Nikolas says, why should he fill Victor in, when Victor hasn’t given him a single clue as to what he’s been up to since he’s been back? Victor says, so Nikolas wants a simple exchange; information for information. Nikolas wonders if it’s too much to ask, and Victor says, as a matter-of-fact, yes.

Ava says, Nina knows how complicated her relationship with Nikolas is. She’s not even sure she wants him as her husband anymore. Nina says, then Ava must be planning his demise, and Ava laughs, saying, all options are on the table. Nina says, she’s Ava Jerome; there are only two options. Ava is either ripping his clothes off, or ripping his heart out. Ava says, she can’t decide. She’s never been in this situation before. Nina says, Ava will get no judgement from her, and Ava says, that’s not what she’s worried about. Nina says, then what’s the problem?

Cody says he should explain something to Britt, but Lowell comes back with the safe deposit box. He asks for Britt’s key, and asks if she’s okay. She says, seeing it… now it’s real. Cody says, there’s no law that says she has to open it, but she says she does. She gives Lowell her key, and he opens the box. He says he’ll give her some privacy, and leaves. Britt tells Cody, here goes nothing. I guess this isn’t a bank, since that’s not how it’s done there.

Josslyn says, when she met Dex, she definitely judged the kind of person she thought he was. Then he kept surprising her, and doing the right thing when she least expected it. He says, now he’s disappointed her, and she says she’d be lying if she said no. He says he’s sorry, and she says, her too. Not for herself, but for him. Her mom and Jason are incredible people. They gave everything they had to Sonny, trusting he’d do right by them. Instead, he screwed them over. She doesn’t want him to be one of those people. Cameron comes in, and asks, what’s going on here? Is everything all right? Dex says he’s sorry. It’s his fault. He said something about Josslyn’s stepfather that upset her. He leaves, and Cameron asks, is that really what happened? Josslyn says, yeah, it’s fine, and he asks if she’s sure; it didn’t seem fine. Does she want him to talk to Dex or Sonny? She says, no. The truth is, she knows Dex a little better than she’s been letting on. She rescued him from Sonny. Cameron asks, how? and she says, Sonny decided to go after whoever killed Brando, and he thought it was Dex. Obviously, they know that’s not the case now, so basically, she intervened before anything bad could happen. He says, Dex was lucky she was there, and she says, for all the good it did. He says, she seems more upset about Dex than Sonny. What is it about this guy that’s got her so worked up?

Nina says, Ava doesn’t have to tell her anything she doesn’t want to, but she can see Ava’s struggling, and she’d love to help Ava if she can. Ava says, there’s a significant part of her that wants to cut Nikolas out of her life, and Nina asks why she hasn’t. Ava says, things have happened that made her reconsider, and Nina says, that’s not vague at all. Ava says, in his desperation to prove himself, Nikolas made a gesture to show she can trust him, and Nina says, it must have been a grand gesture to have Ava so conflicted. Ava says, it was inspired; she’ll give him that. He essentially gave her control over her life. Nina says, now she’s officially intrigued, and Ava says, he wrote out a confession. Nina says, to what, a crime? What did Nikolas do? Ava says, that’s just it. He didn’t do anything. She did.

Victor says, Nikolas and his son Valentin are very much alike. They both profess a desire to be kept in the loop, yet their actions exclude them from that privilege. They’re more focused on their selfish desires than the greater good. Nikolas asks how controlling his life is for the greater good, and Victor says, Ava has clouded his judgement. He’s handed her the means to his own destruction. Nikolas says, because he loves her, and Victor says, apparently more than he loves his own son.

Elizabeth tells Terry, she needs to know why she’s having these fragments of memories of Reiko. Her parents kept records of the time they spent on the Mariana Islands. There must be photographs, diaries, something to give her a clue as to what actually happened. Terry says, and there’s no chance Elizabeth can’t just ask them? but Elizabeth says, no. She needs to be in their house, alone, searching. Terry says, she doesn’t have to do it alone. Finn spent time in the islands with Reiko; it could be useful to have him with her. Elizabeth says, not until she knows what she’s dealing with. Terry says, it’s Elizabeth’s relationship, and she can do what she wants, but she was talking to Finn… Elizabeth asks if he suspects, but Terry says, no. It’s just so clear he’s all in with her, and he’s a good guy. Elizabeth says she knows. That’s why she can’t tell him. She’s afraid if she says something before she has all the information, it will ruin things between them. Terry says, or bring them closer.

Violet says she’s never seen this lady before, and Finn says, her name was Reiko. Many years ago, they were married. Violet asks if they got divorced, but he says, not exactly. It’s kind of a sad story about why they’re not together anymore. She says she wants to hear it, and he says, Reiko passed away. She asks how? and he says, she got very sick. Violet says, and he couldn’t save her that time? He says he tried, but he couldn’t save her, and Gregory says, sometimes people get so sick no matter what the doctors do, they can’t get well again. Violet says she’s sorry, and hugs Finn. Finn says he’s sorry too.

Britt picks up a velvet box, and says, it’s heavy. She opens it, and takes out a beautiful necklace that looks like something a Victorian queen would wear. She says, holy… She was kidding when she said, it might be diamonds and rubies. He says, maybe she knew Peter better than she thought, and she says she’s never seen anything like this. Does he think it’s real? He says he knows how to find out. Hand it over. She hesitates, and he asks if she has a compact. She says, why? Does he need to fix his makeup? He says, trust him; he knows what he’s doing. She gives him the compact, he opens it, and takes the necklace from her, dragging one of the gems against the mirror. The mirror is scratched, and she says, he just ruined her mirror. He says, diamonds scratch glass. It’s real, and he’s fairly certain she can buy every mirror on the planet. She wonders where it came from, and he says, he doesn’t know, but it looks like millions of dollars’ worth of jewels. He watches a lot of Antique Roadshow. She wonders where Peter would get a necklace like that, and Cody says, Peter never told her anything about it? She says, she’d remember, and he says, could he have told Maxie? but she says, no way Maxie could keep it to herself. How did Peter get his hands on this? She starts to take it, but Cody holds on, and she asks what he’s doing.

Josslyn tells Cameron, it feels like the world is upside down lately. Trina gets arrested. Brando is killed, Diane attacked, and people like Esme and Sonny get a free pass? He says, it doesn’t seem fair, and she says she wants so badly to believe in justice and doing the right thing, but it’s like the rest of the world’s not on board. He says, for what it’s worth (🍷), he’s on board, and she says, it’s worth a lot. He says, her moral compass is one of the top ten reasons he loves her, and she says, only ten? He tells her, he said top ten. If he listed all the reasons he loved her, he doesn’t think the numbers would go that high. Speaking of doing the right thing, he knew about her rescuing Dex. She asks, how? and he says, Michael told him. He’s wondering why she didn’t. She says she didn’t want to involve him in Sonny’s shady dealings, and he says he gets that, but Sonny aside, he has to agree that recently, they haven’t been on the same page. Or maybe he’s off base. She says, no. He’s spot on.

Elizabeth walks into Finn’s office, and sees Violet hugging Finn. She asks if everything is okay, and Violet says, she made daddy sad. Finn says, no. She could never make him sad; just the opposite. Gregory says, they’ll meet him at the car, and leaves with Violet. Elizabeth asks Finn, what happened, and he says, Violet found an old picture of Reiko on his phone, and wanted to know who she was, and what happened. Trying to explain it to her, brought it back. She says, it made him sad, and he says, it was a sad time in his life. Reiko died in a very tragic way. She says, he did everything he could to save her, and made an amazing discovery that’s helped a lot of people. He says, it’s been a long time. He doesn’t think he was prepared for explaining it to Violet. She wanted to tell him something? She says she wanted to ask if he’d check on the boys while she’s gone. Cameron is in charge, but she’d feel better knowing he had eyes on them as well. He says, absolutely. Don’t worry about anything except enjoying her trip. They hug, and she says she’ll try.

Nina asks if this has anything to do with when Ava said she and Nikolas needed each other. She’s dying to know what Nikolas confessed to, but she’s guessing they’re all better off if she doesn’t? Ava says, it’s a wise choice, and Nina says, but obviously it’s really serious. Ava says, if it got out, that would be it for Nikolas, and Nina says, it sounds like that would be it for Ava too. Ava says, Nikolas thought protecting her would be enough to restore her faith in him, and Nina says, he’s not just protecting Ava. He gave Ava the means to ruin him. Ava says, without a second thought, and Nina says, but Ava didn’t take him back. Ava says, he had sex with Esme. How does one make up for that? Nina asks, then why doesn’t Ava deploy his confession and make him pay? but Ava says, regardless of what he did, he’d clearly lay down his life for her. She’s not ready to forgive him, but she’s not ready to give up on him either. Nina’s phone rings, and she says she has to take it, but they’ll figure this out together.

Victor says, Nikolas allowed Ava to destroy his relationship with his son, but Nikolas says, Spencer was angry at him before Ava was in the mix. Victor says, of course (🍷) Spencer was hurt and angry at Nikolas for feigning his own death, but it was the Ava component that’s really alienated him. Nikolas has essentially orphaned his own son. Nikolas says, that’s not true, and Victor asks how their last visit went at Pentenville. That’s right, of course (🍷). Nikolas never visited Spencer in prison, not once, because he’s been too busy fawning over Ava. How can he respect that? Spencer is Nikolas’s son, a Cassadine heir, but Nikolas is consumed with that woman. Don’t get him wrong. Ava is a delightful human being, but Nikolas seems confused as to what really matters – family. The kind he has blood ties with, and what clearly does not. He can help Nikolas with building bridges with his son. He has influence with Spencer, and can use it to Nikolas’s advantage, if Nikolas gets rid of Ava. Or he can use it to push them apart. Nikolas says, classic; using his son and his relationship as a bargaining chip. Victor says, trust him. It doesn’t end there

Terry says, the train is leaving, and Elizabeth says she’ll miss Finn. He says he’ll miss her too. Have a good time. She and Terry leave, Elizabeth giving Finn a last smile before they go.

Josslyn says, so they’ve been a little out of sync, and Cameron says, more than a little, but she says, it’s no wonder. Ever since the sex tape got posted, they’ve barely had a chance to come up for air. He says he knows. It’s a miracle they’re still together. She says, anyone else would have cracked. He’s her best friend. He says, and she’s his, but he misses his girlfriend. She says, she misses him too, and he asks what they’re going to do about it. She says, they’re going to plan something. Just them as a couple. He says he’s in, and they kiss.

Cody tells Britt, sorry about the whole freezing up thing. He’s never held something so expensive before. She says, Peter probably stole this; it could be evidence in a crime. He says, that’s a big assumption, and she says, most likely an accurate one. He asks if she’s going to get it appraised, but she says, thanks to him, she doesn’t have to. She calls to Mr. Lowell, and tells Cody, besides, it will be safer here until she figures out what to do with it. Lowell comes back, and she thanks him. He says, of course (🍷). They’re open 7 days a week for any future needs. Definitely not a bank. Britt asks if Cody is coming, and he says, is she sure she doesn’t want to take it with her. What if she loses the key? She says, she’ll put it in a safe place, and sticks in her bra, telling him, what? Her mother taught her

Ava looks at the envelope, and flashes to Nikolas giving it to her. She takes the paper out, and opens it. All it says is, Missing Something???

Nikolas says he’s done with this conversation, but Victor grabs his arm, and says he’ll decide when they’re done. Nikolas asks, what else can Victor possibly say to him? Victor takes Nikolas’s written confession out of his jacket, and says he’s been keeping this close. He thought it might be useful if Nikolas needed some added incentive to do right by his family. Nikolas will do exactly as he says, and divorce Ava, or one way or another, he’ll take Nikolas out.

Tomorrow, Ava tells Nina that she and Nikolas aren’t done until she says so; Victor is moving into Windymere; Anna tells Robert to look out for Charlotte’s safety; and Holly says she’s just getting started.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Sonny gives Gladys lavender tea to help her relax. She asks what he knows about tea; he’s a coffee importer. He says, maybe he’ll branch out, and she apologizes, adding, it does smell good. Sasha comes out, and Nina asks if she got any sleep, but Sasha says, every time she closes her eyes, all she can see is Brando in that hospital bed. Nina hugs her.

Curtis goes to the hospital, and Portia hugs him, saying, she’s so glad to see him. He asks, what’s going on? and she says, Diane Miller was brought in with a stab wound tonight. He says, wow. First Ava, then Brando, now Diane. She says, looks that way, and he asks if Diane is okay. She says, they’re operating right now, and that’s all she knows, but it’s got her really on edge. He says, of course (🍷) it does. She says she wanted to tell Trina, but she was with Rory, and Portia didn’t want to tell her then. He says, it’s going to be okay, but she says, how? When? He says he doesn’t know, but thanks to that Invader article, at least they’re all watching their backs. She says, speaking of that, Jordan feels some type of way about whoever leaked it to the press, and he asks if Jordan said something to her. Jordan comes out of the elevator, and Portia says, Jordan wasn’t very happy that she defended the source. Jordan says, because she’s trying to capture a violent criminal. And to that end, she needs Portia’s help.

Dante comes into the interrogation room, and sits across from Dex. He says he’s been briefed on the Diane Miller attack. Dex was the first person at the scene? Dex says he got there just before Miss Davis and Mr. Chase. He’s sorry; he won’t be able to tell Dante much. Dante says he doesn’t know about that. He bets Dex has plenty to tell him.

On the phone, Carly tells Olivia, she feels so bad… Because her family was going through hell and couldn’t get in touch with her… She already talked to everybody, and wanted to jump on the first plane home when she heard about Brando… Yeah, she and Sonny agreed it’s probably safer if she stays here… She knows. There’s a knock at her hotel room door, and she tells Olivia that she’ll call her back; someone’s at the door. She opens it, and Drew asks if someone ordered room service, holding up a six-pack. Yes, we could make a lot of jokes here.

Josslyn, Cameron, Trina, and Rory go to the hatchet throwing place, and Trina says, wow. She didn’t even know places like this even existed. Josslyn says, her mom told her about it. She said it’s super fun. Cameron tells Rory that they should start collecting their weapons, or can he even say that to a cop? Rory says he’s off-duty, and they go to make their selection. Josslyn says, finally they get a little double date action with the guys, and Trina says, it’s so cute. Josslyn says she likes Rory. She’s so happy Trina ended up with him. Trina says, as opposed to Spencer? and Josslyn says, Rory’s definitely preferable… isn’t he?

Dex says he wants to speak to a lawyer, and Dante says, that’s his right, and he should. Dante points to his neck, and asks what Dex has here, and Dex takes out his dog tags, asking if they quality as a lethal weapon. Dante says he certainly hopes not, but you tell me. Dex says he doesn’t know what happed to Miss Miller. He doesn’t know how many times, or how he can say that until they actually believe him, and Dante asks, what makes Dex think he doesn’t believe him? Dex says, the way Dante came at him just now, and how he questioned Dex at the hospital. It’s clear Dante’s made up his mind. Dante says, so far, Dex is the only person who could have seen what happened, and Dex says, but he didn’t. When he came in, she was on the ground bleeding. Dante asks what Dex was doing in the garage in the first place. This is his chance to go on the record and clear up any misconceptions. Dex says he was working, and Dante says, doing what? Dex says, Dante’s father asked him to lock up behind Diane while he took Sasha home, and Dante says, so Dex was there when she was attacked? Dex says he must have been, and Dante says, the garage is a big open space; how could Dex not have seen it? Dex says he was outside, and Dante says, Dex is good at his job, right? Dex says, ask his dad, and Dante says he will, but right now he’s asking Dex. When Sonny ordered Dex to stick around, how could he not see someone enter the garage? It feels to Dante like Dex is lying about something. What is it?

Trina says, now that Spencer’s not in her life, she’s happier than she’s been in a while, and Josslyn says, with Rory. Trina says she’s ready for a fun, uncomplicated relationship, and Josslyn says, Trina deserves it. Trina says, Josslyn’s turn. She and Cam went through a rough patch, and Josslyn says, yeah, but they’re out of it. Trina asks if Josslyn told Cam about the dumpster thing with Dex, and Josslyn says, just because they’re together doesn’t mean they have to tell each other everything. Didn’t Cam prove that by keeping Spencer’s secret? Cameron and Rory come back, and Cameron asks what they’re talking about. Josslyn and Trina both say, nothing, and Cameron tells Rory, nothing means them, right? Rory says, 100%, and Josslyn says, the egos on these two.

Sasha says she really appreciates Nina and Sonny being here, but please go; get back to their lives. Sonny says he can stay, but Gladys says, he’s done enough. The truth is, nothing’s going to make this better. They just have to live through it as best they can. Sonny says he’ll go, but if she needs anything, call him at any time. That goes for Sasha too. He hugs Sasha, and Nina says she’ll walk Sonny out, but she’ll be back. They can’t get rid of her that easily. In the hallway, Nina says she didn’t want to broach this in front of Sasha, but what are they going to do about the guardianship? He says, Diane’s filing a continuance with the judge right now, but the thing is, Sasha is still under guardianship. She asks what that even means without Brando. Is the court going to appoint some interim person, a stranger? Sonny says, no. They’ll give Sasha some time to grieve before they get into the details. Nina says she just can’t believe on top of everything else, Sasha has to contend with that. Sonny’s phone rings, and it’s Alexis. He says, whoa. Hold on… What?

Jordan says she knows Dr. Finn was on hand when Diane was brought in, but he was called on a patient emergency. She was hoping, since he and Portia worked together on Brando’s case, Portia might be able to provide some helpful information. Portia says, Finn did brief her, so she thinks she can help Portia, and Jordan says, and this conversation will stay at GH this time? Curtis asks what that’s supposed to mean, and Jordan says, he saw the article in The Invader. The leak came from the hospital. She’s just reiterating the need for discretion to keep important details under wraps. He says, that was always her area of expertise, wasn’t it? He’ll leave them to it. Portia tells Jordan, sorry. The divorce paper situation has him a bit… Jordan says, Portia doesn’t have to explain Curtis to her, and suggests they go somewhere private to discuss Diane.

Carly asks what Drew is doing here, and he says, what is he doing here as in, it’s so good to see you? She says, of course (🍷) it’s good to see him, and he says, phew. She says, but she told him that she was fine, and he says, he was already on the plane at that point. She says, to Jacksonville? How did he know she was here? He says, it wasn’t easy, but lucky for her, he’s got skills. She says, he’s got Spinelli on the case, and he says he was going to call Spinelli next, but he called Mia. She says, at the seminar, and he says, Mia told him that Carly’s flight had an emergency landing in Jacksonville, and here he is. She says, he came all the way down here for her? and he says he came all the way down here for her. Is she going to invite him in or what? She tells him, come in

Sonny tells Alexis, thanks for letting him know, and Nina asks if it’s another attack. He says, Diane. He’s got to get to GH. She says, of course (🍷), and he tells her to stay safe. She says, him too, and he leaves.

Drew gives Carly a beer, and says, he’s assuming she spoke to her family, and she says she knows about Brando. He says he’s so sorry, and she says, so is she. She feels so awful for Sasha. First her son, now this? He says, it’s unfathomable, and she says, it is. She’s so sorry she was out of touch. He says, she lost her phone; it happens. She says, during a family emergency? She was going to be on the first flight home when she found out about Brando, but she talked to Sonny, and he thought it was safer for her here. He says, he’s sure she hates that, but Sonny’s right. With a violent psychopath on the loose, it’s better she stays here. She says, but just hearing that, she feels like she’s abandoning her kids, and he says he gets that, but Sonny’s never going to let anything happen to them. She says she knows. He’s got security on Michael, he’s doubled security on Josslyn, and Donna and Avery live with him. Drew says, the penthouse is like a fortress; it’s fine. She says she knows. She still can’t believe he tracked her down just to tell her about Brando. He says, it’s not just that, and she says, okay. What else?

Gladys shows Sasha some photos on her phone, and Sasha says, Brando as a baby. Gladys says, a baby who was so proud to serve his country. That war made a mess of him. She barely recognized him when he got back. They lost so much time. If only she’d known how little time they had. Sasha says, but when they did reconnect, she’d say they made the most of it; woudn’t Gladys? Brando loved her. Gladys says she drove Brando crazy, and Sasha says, he didn’t love her any less. Gladys says she just wishes she had one more chance to tell him how much he meant to her, and Sasha says she wishes that too. Gladys gets to pictures of Brando and Sasha in Niagara Falls, and says, their wedding… which no one was invited to. Sasha says, if she could do it again, she’d celebrate with the whole world, all their friends and family… It’s just hitting her that she’s completely alone now. Without Brando, she has no family left. Gladys takes her hand, and says, listen to her. She and Sasha became family the second Sasha married her son, and that doesn’t change now. She’s got news for Sasha; Sasha’s stuck with her. Sasha says she’s so glad.

Sonny goes to the hospital reception desk, and asks where Diane’s room is, and what condition she’s in. The nurse says she can’t share information with anyone but family, when Curtis comes along, and says, Diane is in surgery. Sonny asks how he knows, and Curtis says he has his sources. Sonny says he’s surprised Curtis is sharing that with him. The last time they saw each other, it was a one-sided friendship.  Curtis says he owes Sonny for what Sonny did for his father. His father told him that Sonny knew he was on antipsychotic meds and kept quiet. Sonny says he knows something about that diagnosis, and Curtis says he appreciates it. Sonny says, the truth be told, he wasn’t just looking out for Marshall. He respects the hell out of Curtis.

Trina gets a bullseye, and says, it’s so satisfying. Josslyn suggests they make it a friendly competition, and Trina says, here we go. Josslyn says, what? and Trina tells Rory, if he hasn’t picked up on it yet, Josslyn is totally extra in the competitive department. Josslyn says, what is the point of throwing these things unless someone is keeping score? and Rory says he’s game. Josslyn says, see? She told Trina that she liked him. Why don’t they do a tournament? They’ll pair up, and the winners get to compete for the ultimate glory. Trina says, sounds good, and Josslyn says, let the games begin.

Jordan and Portia go to Portia’s office, and Portia looks through some folders. She says, Diane’s wound was consistent with how Ava and Brando’s presented, and Jordan says, so it was likely a hook was used too. Portia says, the only difference was, the doctors noticed when they were operating that the wound was more precisely inflicted. Jordan says, the attacker is improving their technique. Was a tox screen run? Portia says, it confirms the presence of the same venom that was found in Brando’s system. Thankfully, Finn found an anti-venom, and was able to race it over to the surgical team quickly. The last she heard, Diane was stable and the procedure was going well. Jordan says, thank God for that, and Portia says, it seems like something is still weighing heavily on Jordan’s mind. Jordan says, the last time their victim survived, the assailant made sure the next attack would kill. She doubts this will be any different.

Dex says he’s telling Dante the truth. Sonny told him to lock up, not to keep watch, so he didn’t have eyes on the door. Dante asks, then what was he doing? and Dex says, working; answering texts and emails. Dante can check his phone; there are time stamps on everything. Dante says, good. At the Quartermaine picnic, no one can verify Dex’s whereabouts before he found Ava and Josslyn. Dex says he was bringing paperwork for Dante’s father to sign. The front drive was crowded, so he parked on the access road. Dante says, what about Charlie’s? and Dex says, what about it? Dante tells him, Josslyn said she followed him out to the back alley, but when she got there, Dex wasn’t there. Dex says, because he wasn’t there, and Dante says, Dex has been on the scene of all three attacks; that’s a pattern. Dex says, you know what else is a pattern? He gave Diane and Ava first aid, and hopefully, it helped save both their lives. Dante says he doesn’t know if that’s enough for him, and Dex says, time stamps? Dante starts to leave, and Dex asks if he’s being arrested. Does he need to make a call? Dante says he thinks Dex should call his lawyer, and leaves. Dex makes a call, and says he’s in trouble. He needs their help. Sonny asks where he is, and Dex says, the PCPD. Sonny tells Dex, he’s on his way.

Rory gets a bullseye, but Trina’s hatchet bounces off the target. Rory and Cameron chest bump. Cameron’s hatchet bounces off the target, and Josslyn says, sorry. Cameron says he doesn’t even want to talk to her, and she gets just inside the middle circle. Cameron says, you’re joking, and Trina and Josslyn do a happy dance. Rory and Josslyn are the winners.

Dante asks what Sonny is doing at the station, and Sonny says, Dex said he was in some kind of trouble. Does Dante know anything about that? Dante says, he’s being questioned. He thought Dex was calling a lawyer. Sonny asks if he needs one, and Dante says, he was on the scene of Diane’s attack. Sonny says, he asked Dex to lock up, and Dante wonders if Sonny asked Dex to stand over Diane’s body with her blood on his hands.

Jordan says she’s going to arrange for somebody to stand guard over Diane, and Portia says, good idea. Portia leaves, and Jordan calls Rory. She says she’s sorry to bother him on his night off, but she was hoping for a favor. He says, of course (🍷), and she says, there’s been another stabbing. The victim’s Diane Miller. Dex Heller was at the scene. He’s been brought in for questioning. Rory says, wow, okay, and Jordan says she’d like him to come to the hospital and stand guard over Diane. He says, absolutely. She can count on him.

Drew says he knows Carly doesn’t have the best memories of Jacksonville, and he figured something big must be going on to get her to stay here. Before she can protest, he says he knows she can take care of herself. He just wanted to make sure she was okay, and offer his support if needed. She says, that support of his… He says, completely unnecessary? but she says, completely appreciated. The fact that he flew down here, she can’t tell him how much that means to her. He says he thinks she just did. Her phone dings, and she looks at it, saying, oh no. Come on. He says, more bad news? and she says, that something big he was referring to? He was spot-on. He asks, what’s going on? and she says, they’re clearing out the cemetery Virginia is buried in to put in a parkway to the beach. He asks if she’s talking about moving the bodies, and she says, yeah. He says, for beach access? That’s unbelievable. She says, it is. That spot was so perfect for Virginia, and it was so important to Carly that she be buried there… for many reasons. He says he remembers, and she says, oh, right. She decided to fight it. He says, of course (🍷) she did, and she says she hired a lawyer, and filed an injunction. Apparently, she has no legal standing because she’s not a resident. He says, so now what? and she says she doesn’t know what to do. He says she has to keep fighting, but she says, that injunction was her Plan A, B, and C. He says, there’s got to be other options, and she says, like what? He asks if she trusts him, and they sit down with some beers. He says, she may not have legal standing, but there are other ways to enact change. She says she’s listening, and he says, hi, I’m Drew Cane, holding out his hand. He says, and you are? She says her name is Carly, and he says, that’s such a beautiful name. She says, thank you, and he tells her to ask him what he does for a living. She asks, and he says, he owns a media company. The lightbulb comes on, and Carly says, a media company they can use to raise some hell. He says, exactly. He’ll stay one or two days; he’ll help her make some noise; they lay into the Guild and the developers. She says she can’t ask him to do that, and he says, she didn’t. She says he has a family back home who needs him, but he says he’s talking about a couple of days; they’re not even going to miss him. He’d never offer if it wasn’t something he wanted to do. She asks if he’s sure, and he says, 100% positive. She says, okay, and he says, let’s make this town sorry it ever crossed you. They clink beer bottles, and she says, Jacksonville, you have no idea what’s coming.

Nina tells Sasha and Gladys, bit by bit, it will get easier. Every week that passes, the pain will lift a little more. Sasha says, but does she really want that? Then it will be like Brando will truly be gone. Nina says, no. Brando will never be gone. She feels the people she’s lost every single day. Jay (Nathan), her daughter… Sasha feels Liam, doesn’t she? Sasha says she does, and Nina says, it’s no different. Gladys says, there’s a step they can take if Sasha is ready. They can make arrangements for the funeral, and put their boy to rest.

Curtis asks how things went with Jordan, and Portia says, it was tense, but it was fine. Curtis says he sensed a little tension with her as well, and Porta says she saw that. Um… I did too, and it was because Curtis made a snide remark. Are they in the same show I’m watching? Curtis wonders if it will always be this way even if they get their divorce issue dealt with, and she says, he was going to tell her about their talk. He says, Jordan swears she didn’t deliberately sit on those divorce papers, and Portia says, but what else? He tells her, Jordan also started saying some pretty strange things, and Portia says, strange how? He says, she asked if he and Portia were on solid ground, and then she fed him a line that you can never really know someone even if you’re married to them. It felt off, like she thought they were keeping secrets from each other. But he’s sure she’s just projecting, right? Portia says, mm-hmm, and he says, because they’re about as solid as it gets.

Sonny asks if Dante is sure, and Dante says, Alexis and Gregory found Dex in the garage. He says he was helping Diane. He says he didn’t see anyone or know what happened. Sonny says, Dante doesn’t believe him? and Dante says, Dex has been on the scene of all three attacks, and hasn’t seen or heard anything. Sonny asks what Dante’s implying, and an officer says, they have the forensics report Dante wanted. Dante thanks her and says, one second. Dante tells Sonny, he knows Sonny likes this kid, but he has to ask himself, how well does he know Dex Heller?

Rory says, sorry about the forfeit, and Josslyn says, a win is a win. Rory says, there was another attack; Diane Miller was the victim. Trina says, oh my God, and Josslyn asks if she’s okay. Rory says, all he knows is that she’s in surgery. He’s supposed to go to GH and stand guard, and make sure no one gets in to see her who shouldn’t. Trina says, this is so awful, and Rory says, there is some good news; a suspect was brought in. Josslyn asks, who is it? and he says, that still doesn’t mean things are safe. Trina says, they’ve got hatchets. This is the safest place in Port Charles. Rory asks them to promise to go home together, kisses Trina on the cheek, and leaves. Josslyn follows him, and outside, she says she knows there are certain things he can’t tell her, but this feels really personal. She’s been at two of the crime scenes, and Diane’s a close family friend. Who’s the suspect? He says, all he can tell her is, it’s someone who’s been questioned before, and has been spotted at all three crime scenes. Josslyn flashes back to telling Dex the police are looking for him, and Dex saying he already spoke to Dante.

Dex thanks Sonny for coming, and Sonny asks how they’re treating him. Dex says, so far no arrest, but they think he did it. Sonny asks, what happened? Why did they bring Dex in? Dex says, they think he’s behind it because he happened to be in the vicinity of all three attacks, but he’s innocent. Sonny believes him, right?

Gladys gets on the phone, but Nina says she doesn’t think they have to do this right now. Sasha says, Gladys is right. How long can they wait? Brando deserves a proper goodbye. Gladys says, now he’s just sitting in the morgue, and Sasha says she can’t think about it. They can’t leave him there. And this will be good for them too. They’ll have somewhere to go and visit and talk to him, right? Nina does that with her brother. Nina says, and Nelle. On the phone, Gladys says she’s sorry. Are they sure?… She understands. She’ll be in touch. Nina asks, what’s wrong? and Gladys says, nothing that can’t be fixed, she’s sure. Sasha asks, what is it? and Gladys says, the funeral home won’t take Sasha’s card because there’s a hold on it at the bank. Sasha says she has more than enough… Brando was her guardian. She needs him to sign off on purchases. Nina says, there’s no problem. Why don’t they call back and use her card? Sasha says, no. He is her husband… was her husband. She’s the one who should… She cries, and Nina holds her. Sasha says, oh my God. What do I do now?

Curtis tells Portia that when he was with Jordan, he could just feel it. There was a part of her that she was holding back from him. He doesn’t feel that with Portia. Portia says she’s glad, and he says, the poor thing must think just because she’s keeping secrets, everyone does. Portia looks uncomfortable, and I question Curtis’s P.I. skills. Portia flashes back to Jordan saying she’s glad to hear they’re both on the side of truth. She remembers she and Jordan being trapped in the basement, and saying she needs to tell Trina the truth about her father. Curtis says, what is it? and she says she’s so sorry. She just remembered something she needs to take care of that’s very important. Does he mind if she… He says, of course (🍷) not, and she kisses him. She says she loves him, he says he loves her too, and she leaves.

Trina says she can’t believe it’s Diane, and Josslyn says, this is all just hitting too close to home. Trina asks if they can just get out of here, and Josslyn says she wants to check on Diane, and report back to her family. Cameron says, they’ll go with her, but she says, no, it’s fine, okay? Cameron says he won’t have her go out alone, but she says, thanks to Sonny, she won’t be. She has a guard 24 hours. She’ll have Reed take her, but please, get home safe. She leaves, and Trina and Cameron sit down. Trina asks if they should get out of here too. There’s no point in hanging around here. Cameron says, or they could talk about what’s going on between them. She says she doesn’t know what he means, and he says, she’s been avoiding him since she found out he was covering for Spencer. He gets it. She has every right to be mad. She says, good. Because she is.

Drew says he forgot. He has something he wants to send Carly. Does she have her tablet? She says, yeah, and it’s one of those looking at the camera like Jim from The Office moments. If Carly had her tablet, couldn’t she have sent everyone messages? Hell, she could have called them using it. He says he stopped on the way to the airport to send her a little message. She looks at her tablet (😐) and sees a video of Drew with Donna and Avery. The girls say they miss her, and good luck. Drew tells them, what else? and they say they love her, and can’t want to see her when she gets home. Drew tells them to blow Carly a kiss, and counts to three. He, Donna, and Avery blow a kiss to the camera, and Drew tells Carly, he was hoping she’d like that. She says she loved it, and he says, it’s getting a little bit late. She asks where he’s going, and he tells her, there are some conventions in town, and a lot of the hotels are booked. He’ll probably get a hotel out of town, but he’ll be back in the morning. She says, that’s crazy, but he says, it’s no big deal. She says she’s sure this couch pulls out. Really? I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a hotel room with a pullout couch. She tells him to stay here, and he says, with her? She says, yeah. She’s going to be here too. He says he doesn’t know. He’s not sure it’s the best idea considering… She says, it’s fine. They’re adults. They can have an adult friendly sleepover. It’s the least she can do. Please stay. He says, okay.

Dex asks if Sonny isn’t going to say something, when Jordan comes in. She says she didn’t know Sonny was a lawyer now, and Sonny says, far from it. He came to check on Dex, and found out he has no lawyer present. Dante joins them, and says, Dex chose not to call one. Sonny asks if Dex is arrested, and when they don’t say anything, Sonny says, that’s a no. Let’s go. They leave, and as Dex passes Jordan, she says, don’t leave town. He says, got it, and she closes the door. She asks if Dex gave Dante anything, and Dante tells her, Dex swears he didn’t see or hear anything. She asks how that’s possible, and Dante says he doesn’t know, but they don’t have anything to hold him on. All the evidence they have is circumstantial. She asks if she’s wrong. There’s something about him; something off. Dante says, she’s not wrong, and she tells him, keep digging. He says, will do, and she leaves.

Outside, Dex thanks Sonny, and Sonny says he’ll give Dex a ride. Dex says, he doesn’t have to, but Sonny says, let’s go. They leave, and Dex looks worried. I’d be worried too.

Drew puts blankets and pillows on the couch, and Carly tells him that she’s sorry. She thought it pulled out. He says, it’s fine, and she says she can call downstairs for a cot. He says he thinks she’s forgetting he spent two years in a cell. This is like heaven compared to that. She says, noted, and they say goodnight. Carly goes to bed a few feet away, which seems really awkward, and Drew lies on the couch. Carly turns out the light, and tells Drew, she knows she said it before, but thanks for coming. It really means everything. He says she’s welcome. They’re going to fix the situation with her mother. She knows that, right? She says she does now.

Sasha thanks Nina for being here, and Gladys says she hasn’t always been the kindest or the most welcoming to Nina. Nina says, for legitimate reason, and Gladys says, but what Nina’s done for them, it hits her right here. Gladys touches her heart, and Nina says, well, get used to it, because she’s not going anywhere. The three of them join hands.

Portia storms into Jordan’s office, and slams the door. Jordan asks what she’s doing, and Portia says, Curtis told her about their little divorce papers chat. How dare she?

Cameron says he hated every second of lying to Trina. It’s just that he and Spencer had this history… She says, so do they. It may not be as long, but it’s pretty important. He says, so important, and if this messes it up at all… She says, it won’t. She’s not planning on holding a grudge, but it might take time to get past it. He says, that’s totally fair. He doesn’t want to give an excuse, but he wants to explain himself. He was torn between two people he care so much about, and that’s… She says, hard, and he says, extremely. Has she ever experienced something like that? She flashes back to Josslyn telling her that Cameron assumed she was alone in the dumpster, and she didn’t correct him. She tells Cameron, yeah. She guesses she has.

Josslyn strides into the PCPD, and Dante asks, what’s going on? She asks if Dex is here, and he wonders why she’s asking. She says she heard he was a suspect in all the attacks, and Dante says he can’t comment, but where did she hear that? She says, it doesn’t matter. He really can’t tell her anything at all? Dante says, Dex was brought in. He left with Sonny a while ago.

Dex gets in the car, but Sonny doesn’t look at him. Sonny just continues to look out the window, and Dex says, thanks for the ride home. Sonny finally looks at him, and says, they’re going to make a stop first. Then he stares straight ahead with an odd smile.

Tomorrow, Sam asks what Spinelli isn’t telling her; Maxie tells Austin, she’s glad it’s finally out in the open; Josslyn tells Dante that she’s got some evidence of her own; and Dex asks, how can he make Sonny believe him, as he hangs from the ceiling. It’s not looking good for Dex.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

As the car is packed for a camping trip, Violet asks Cameron if he’s sure they have enough marshmallows and chocolate. He says, they have enough for an entire month; it’s only a weekend trip. Laura comes by, and says she loves seeing everyone pitching in together. Violet says, they’re going camping, and Laura says, what a wonderful idea. Elizabeth is going to be happy to hear they’re going on a trip as a blended family. Cameron says he’s late for work, and leaves. Finn thinks he should talk to Cameron, but Laura says, no; she’s got that.

Portia reads from her tablet to Epiphany, when you are visualizing vectors. Do you do it in A) one-dimension, B) two dimensions, or C) three dimensions? Epiphany says, vectors… visualizing vectors… Is it A? Portia says, no, it’s B. Two dimensions, babe. Epiphany says, who is she kidding? She’s never going to pass the MCATs and get into med school, and fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. Portia says she remembers she said the same thing when she was going through them, and Epiphany says, but Portia was still young when she became a doctor, and she had more time and energy. Portia doesn’t know what to tell her there. They haven’t invented time machines just yet. (If only.) Epiphany says, at the very least, does she have any study tips? and Portia says, someone did help her once. They said, don’t think about it as a test. Think about the questions as if you’re dealing with an actual patient; someone that came to you for answers. Epiphany asks if that did the trick, and Portia says, it did. It reminded her of why she wanted to be a doctor in the first place, and it wasn’t to do good on some test. It was to help people. Curtis walks in with Marshall, and says, then it looks like they came to the right place. Marshall smiles and nods at Epiphany, and she smiles back.

Laura asks if Cameron isn’t going with everyone else on the camping trip, but he says he has his hands full here with his job, his second job at the MetroCourt pool, not to mention dealing with things with Joss. She says she doesn’t want to pry, but it’s summer, after his freshman year in college. Doesn’t he think he deserves to have a little fun? He says, roughing it in Pautuck State Park isn’t his idea of a good time. She says, not fond of sleeping in a tent? Or is it maybe the fact that his mom won’t be there?

Trina looks at her phone, and says, confidential message from the office of the Dean of Students. Josslyn says, they don’t know for sure if this is bad news, and Trina says, yeah, but once she opens this email, her life won’t be the same.

Spencer says, Ava is way off base. He’s back with Esme. She asks if he’s trying to deny his feelings for Trina, and he says he doesn’t owe her any explanations. She says, he knows how much Trina means to her, so she wants the truth. What kind of game is he playing?

Nikolas grabs Esme’s arm, and says she can’t be serious. Ava can never know that he… that we… She says, made love? (bleh) and he tells her to keep her voice down. She tells him, she’s only saying, if the guilt of it is too much to bear, and he needs to unburden himself to Ava, he won’t be alone. She’ll be right by his side.

Mac comes into the hospital and sees Felicia. He says he takes it that Maxie and Bailey Lou are still upstairs with the pediatrician, and she says, yes, they are. And when they’re finished, she was hoping he’d join them for a family dinner. He says, sounds fine to him. He can’t get enough of that little angel. She says, everything is new through a little one’s eyes, then looks behind Mac, and says, no. Ryan is wheeled out of the elevator by several guards and Rory.

Laura hugs Cameron, and says she’s sorry. She knows he misses his mom; they all do. And she knows he also feels pressure to earn money and be the man of the family, but doesn’t he admire what Finn is doing; trying to keep things as normal as possible for Jake and Aiden? For Violet too, for that matter. He says, they can’t pitch a tent in the woods and pretend everything is normal when mom’s suffering, but she says, his mother chose to get help, and she’s working on getting better. He says, but they don’t know how long it’s going to take. He doesn’t know what to say anymore when Jake and Aiden ask why they can’t see their mom. Things will not get better until mom gets home.

Curtis says, he brought his father in to have his bandage changed, and maybe have another scan, and Epiphany says she heard about the mugging; she’s so sorry. Marshall says, his son came to the rescue. He throws some punches in the air, and says, thanks to Curtis, they came through all right. Epiphany says she’s not surprised Curtis came through for him, but she’s sorry he didn’t get there before Marshall got injured. Marshall says, he may be the worse for wear, but she should see the clarinet. Epiphany laughs, and says she’ll show Marshall to his room, and let the doctor know he’s here. Portia thanks her, and Epiphany says, no, thank you, for the tutorial. She leaves with Marshall, and Portia says, when she left Curtis at the house, he and his father had a lot to unpack. Curtis says, a whole suitcase full, and she says, if he doesn’t feel comfortable talking to her about it, they can talk another time. He says he doesn’t want to talk about it, but he has to. Because what he learned might affect her too.

Josslyn says she and Trina can do this, and they open the email. Josslyn says, oh no, and hugs Trina.

Spencer tells Ava, yes, he cares about Trina, but his loyalty is to Esme. Why is that so difficult for her to understand? She asks why he’d care about Trina if he thinks she’s the one who hurt his friends, while claiming Esme’s behind that revenge porn? Doesn’t that make him angry? He says he doesn’t have to explain himself to her, and she says, she’s the one in control of his trust fund. It’s her decision to give him an allowance, but what she gives, she can take away. So out with it. What is he up to?

Nikolas says, he and Esme have both been given second chances; her with Spencer, him with Ava. The last thing they want to do is throw those chances away, right? She says, if he can forget what happened between them, so can she. Nikolas flashes back to… It’s like a bad penny; it just keeps showing up. He says, Ava took the first step toward reconciliation, and he needs to find a way to reciprocate, and she asks if they’re talking diamonds or rubies. He says, none of the above.

Felicia tells Mac, she knows Ryan can’t hurt her because of his condition, but still… He says, wait here, and goes over to Rory, asking what Ryan is doing here. Rory hands Mac some paperwork, and says, the desk sergeant gave him this assignment, to provide back-up for the Spring Ridge guards during transport. The patient is going to undergo a series of tests at GH. Is there a problem? Mac says, unfortunately, no, handing the papers back to Rory. Everything seems to be in order. Mac goes over to Ryan, and bends down to his level. He says he knows Ryan can’t talk, or even move a muscle, but Ryan can hear him, so listen up. He knows it’s legally the correct thing to do to offer Ryan medical treatment, but if it were up to Mac, he’d have taken Ryan down a long time ago. All Ryan’s victims, all the people he killed, he never gave them a chance to survive. So even though he can imagine Ryan hates his life as a vegetable, trapped in a body that can’t do anything, it’s still way better than he deserves. Ryan lets out a yell, and leaps out of his chair, pushing Mac onto the floor, and getting on top of him. He says, Mac never was very bright, and Felicia screams. Ryan tears at Mac’s throat like a zombie, and looks up and says, Felicia, so nice to see you. Felicia whimpers, but it was all somebody’s daydream – I’m guessing Ryan’s. Mac tells Rory to escort the prisoner to the exam room, and make sure the room is secure before he hands Ryan over to the guards. Rory says, yes, sir, let’s go, and Ryan is wheeled away. Mac goes over to Felicia, and she says she’s okay. Evil like that, pure evil, can’t win out. He says he wishes it were that easy. Does she have a silver bullet? She says, something better, a baby.

Ryan is left in the exam room alone (really?), and makes a fist with his hand.

Gregory asks Finn how things went at Shadybrook, and Finn says, Violet told him. Gregory says, nothing gets past her, and Finn says, Elizabeth is getting the help that she needs. Gregory asks why he senses there’s more to the story, and Finn says, Elizabeth made it clear his presence there was making it worse for her. She kind of asked him to leave. He goes over to Violet at the car, and asks if she’s ready for this.

Laura says, when she saw Cameron’s mother, she had only one concern; her boys, not herself. Cameron asks if that isn’t the problem. Shouldn’t her entire focus be on herself and getting better? She says, when he gets older and has kids, he’ll see that you never stop worrying about them or putting their needs first, but he’s right. She should be focusing on herself right now, but she won’t be about to do that if she knows Cameron is putting his life on hold. It will only add to her anxiety. He says, so him going on this stupid camping trip will actually make her feel better? and Laura asks if it’s really stupid to spend time with his brothers right now. Go for a walk in the woods. Maybe they’ll run into a family of deer. Anything to distract their minds from what’s going on with their mother. He says he guesses, and she says, he likes Finn, right? and he says, sure he does. She says, everybody says Hamilton Finn is a genius who can cure incurable diseases, and they’re right, but he’s also a human being. He could use Cameron’s help right now. She knows Cameron’s mother was counting on him to help right now. If ever there was a time for a family to come together, it’s now.

Portia asks how Marshall’s story affects her, and Curtis says, because it affects him. He doesn’t think he’s betraying any confidence in saying this. Marshall is well aware there have been way too many secrets, so he’s okay with him telling her everything. She says, she’s here to listen, so take all the time he needs. He says, after she left them at the house, Marshall opened up. It was like somebody opened the window, and let the sun shine in after a lifetime of being lost in the dark. He just let it all out; all those years he was away from them, thinking he was protecting them. When in reality, all the while, he was suffering. If TJ hadn’t found those pills… She says, the pills she found Curtis holding? and he nods. He says, after Marshall was mugged, the doctors in New York asked is he was on any medication. Curtis knew he was on heart medication, but didn’t know what kind or what dose. He and TJ had the keycard to Marshalls hotel room, so TJ went to look for the pills. They were just trying to help the doctors with any information they could. She asks if he’s saying Marshall’s heart condition is worse than he initially let on, but he says, no. He’s saying there was no medication for a heart issue. TJ found antipsychotic medication. All these years, Marshall has been taking medication for schizophrenia.

Trina reads, this is to inform you that you have been found in violation of regulations enumerated in Title IX. You’ll be contacted by the Dean’s office to schedule a meeting, at which time sanctions against you will be stipulated and possible expulsion will be addressed. Josslyn says, they still get to meet with the Dean. So there’s a chance they’ll impose sanctions while allowing Trina to stay enrolled in PCU. Trina says, thanks for trying to stay positive, but she doesn’t need a pep talk. Actually, in a way this decision did her a favor. Josslyn says, how? when Rory comes to the doorway and listens. Trina says, it’s like climbing a high diving board. It’s scarier to climb back down than just take a deep breath and jump. Josslyn says, okay, but what is Trina jumping into? Trina says, the way she sees it, if anyone’s going to clear her name and prove she’s not guilty, it’s her. Josslyn says, just know that Trina’s got her family, and her, and hopefully Cameron. Rory comes in, and says he hopes there’s room for one more supporter.

Esme says, she and Nikolas are in this together, so tell her. What does he have in mind for Ava? He says, Ava made a huge gesture by returning home to him. She even accepted Esme, and reinstated Spencer’s trust; those are huge concessions. He has to come up with a fitting response. She says she can’t wait to hear how the story ends, and hugs him. She says, this is for good luck, even though he doesn’t need it.

Spencer says he’s not up to anything, and Ava says, for once in his young irresponsible life, he’s got to be honest. Whose side is he on? Trina’s or Esme’s? Nikolas walks in with the ice, and says, what did he miss?

Gregory shows Violet how to tie a square knot, and says, now it’s her turn. It’s okay if she doesn’t get it right the first time. He sits with Finn on the back of the car, and Finn says, his advice never changes, does it? The whole it’s okay if you don’t get right on the first try thing. Gregory always let him and Chase figure things out on their own. Gregory says, if memory serves, Finn and Chase rarely took his advice, and Finn says, very true, but he’s starting to. Instead of hovering over Elizabeth, he’s taking the boys and Violet on this camping trip. Gregory says, that’s very healthy, very mature, but if he knows his son, and he thinks he does, Finn is already planning some other way to help Elizabeth, whether she wants it or not.

Cameron tells Laura, that’s not fair, her bringing up his mom’s expectations of him, when he’s been disappointing her for a long time. Laura tells him not to do this to himself. He made a mistake, just like everybody else. His mother is really proud of him, and beating himself up right now is not productive. He’s just going to get bogged down in all of that, and then he can’t be present to help anyone else. What sense does that make? The best thing he can do for his mother is go on the camping trip, and spend time with his younger brothers. So what does he say?

Marshall says, Epiphany doesn’t have to stick around until the doctor shows up, and she asks if it ever occurred to him that she might have another reason for sticking around. The last time she saw him, it was, hello, goodbye, and have a nice life. He says, he thought it was best, and she says, best for who? He encouraged her to go for her dream of becoming a doctor. Then when she takes him up on it, he’s out of here. Not so much as a postcard from the road. He asks if she’s telling him that she’s going for it, and she nods. He says, is she grabbing that brass ring? and she says, with both hands. They laugh, and she says, he may have run away from his family, but she’s not running away from her future. He says, he may have run away, but if she’s not going to hide from her future, he can’t run away from his past. He’s back to face it, and he’s back to stay.

Portia asks if Marshall happened to mention when he was first diagnosed, and Curtis says, it’s been at least 40 years ago. He’s been saying there was more to Marshall’s story, and he was right. That explains everything. Marshall walked away from his family because he was protecting them; there was never any unknown enemy. He was protecting them from himself. As long as he and Tommy believed he was dead, he was sparing them from the pain, grief, and stigma of that disease. She says, 40 years ago, a lot less was known about that condition, and he says, can she imagine the courage it took to walk away from his family; to face that illness alone? Or the courage, even more so, to come back and tell the truth? She says, it is very brave. Did he happen to mention if he had any recent episodes? Curtis says, the medication keeps it under control. He believes Marshall’s biggest fear isn’t what he’s about to do, but what he’s already done by passing on his DNA. He’s read this disease can be passed along genetically. Is that true?

Trina asks if Rory always listens in on conversations, and waits for the right time to make an entrance, and he tells her, people say there’s never a cop around when you need one. Now she can tell them they’re wrong. Josslyn says, she can’t get ahold of Cam, but she’s glad Rory is here. PCU may have made a decision about the Title IX findings, but there’s still time before a judge rules on Trina’s case. Rory says, he’s on the clock right now, but once he’s off duty, they can come up with a strategy to exonerate Trina. Trina says she’s touched by their support, but if there are any clues to find, she needs to find them. She can’t involve a member of the PCPD, and she can’t involve Joss and Cam. She needs to do this one on her own.

Spencer says, Cameron is expecting him at Kelly’s, and Nikolas says he admires Spencer’s dedication. Even though he can draw from his trust fund, he still feels an obligation to his friend. Ava says, that’s our Spencer, loyal to a fault. Spencer leaves, and Ava says, Nikolas’s timing is not great. She was so close to finding out what Spencer’s up to with Esme. He asks what makes her think Spencer is up to something, and she says, he’s a Cassadine, isn’t he? They’re all going to be under the same roof. She’s going to do everything she can to get along with Nikolas’s son. Unlike his father, Spencer’s choice of companionship leaves a lot to be desired. She gets closer to Nikolas, and frowns. He says, what’s wrong? and she says she knows that fragrance. It’s Esme’s.

Mac says, he and Felicia have been dancing around this topic for months, but never seem to go there. So let’s go there. They sit, and he asks if she’s saying that she… that we… Is she pregnant? She says, God no. Is that what he thought? What she meant was, they have Bailey Lou, a new life of hope and promise. Ryan has nothing, no one, except his twisted self. He says, then she’s not upset they never had a baby of their own? and she says, absolutely not. He helped her raise two beautiful daughters, and that’s good enough for her. They kiss, and Esme comes out of the elevator. She tells the guard at Ryan’s room that she’s here to visit him, but he says, no visitors. Another guard says, wait a minute. She’s the intern from Spring Ridge. Esme says, Dr. Gould asked her to sit with the patient in case he needs to communicate. The guard lets her in, and closes the door. She says, hello, daddy. She’s about to make all of his dreams come true.

Finn says, it’s difficult for him to fight the impulse to solve a problem, and Gregory says, and in Elizabeth’s case? Finn says he’s been thinking about reaching out to her parents, and Gregory just looks at him. Finn says, that’s it? Gregory has no opinion? That’s not like him. Gregory wonders if Finn is genuinely asking for his opinion, or has he already made up his mind?

Spencer runs into Kelly’s, and tells Cameron, he has great news. He sees Laura, and says he didn’t know she’d be here. She says, don’t let that stop him. He’s got great news; let’s hear it.

Portia tells Curtis, yes, there’s a genetic component to schizophrenia, but his father’s condition isn’t necessary something he’d inherit. He says, that’s a relief, and he thinks Marshall will be relieved as well. She says, there are so many factors that could have gone into this diagnosis, and medicine’s come a long way in 40 years. Whoever treated his father back then was just learning about what they were dealing with, but still… He asks what she’s saying, and she tells him, if he wants to be absolutely sure, he could go in for genetic counseling and testing.

Rory says he admires Trina’s courage and independence, but she’s going to need more than that to prove her innocence. Let them help her. She says, she appreciates that, but she can’t involve anyone else. Josslyn says, it’s a little late for that. She’s in this too, not only as a victim of revenge porn, but as Trina’s friend. This is happening to both of them in different ways, and they need to work together. Screw it. Let’s just go straight for Esme. They’ll make her tell the truth. Trina says, and when Esme accuses them of assault? Josslyn says, fine. Trina can stay here. She’ll take her chances. Trina says, no, she will not. Neither of them are committing a crime, not even to save her from a crime she didn’t commit. Rory says, she knows all the right words, but fair or not, the burden of proof is still on her. Trina says, that’s why she needs to find a way, her own way, to prove that Esme set her up.

Nikolas tells Ava, it’s no shock Esme’s perfume lingers here. She just stopped him outside. She asks what Miss Muffet wanted this time, and he says, now that Esme and Spencer are back together, she hopes he and Ava will forget the past, and be closer than they ever were before. She says, and Nikolas believes her? He says he believes she wants to be with Spencer, and Ava laughs, saying, or Spencer’s trust fund. He says, maybe both, but Esme realizes if things are going to work out with her and Spencer, their happiness – his and Ava’s – is essential. She says, happy wife, happy life, is that it? He says, she took the words right out of his mouth, and they kiss.

Esme says, Ryan’s plan is working to perfection. The fuse has been lit, and it’s only a matter of time before it blows up Ava and Nikolas’s marriage. She gets the alphabet board, and sits down. Ryan asks what she did, and she tells him, let’s just say she made Nikolas an offer he couldn’t refuse. He says, pray tell. What did she offer Nikolas? and she says, me.

Finn says he hasn’t exactly made up his mind, and he’s asking for Gregory’s opinion. Gregory tells him to look at his daughter. See what she’s doing? Finn says, she’s tying the knots Gregory taught her, and Gregory says, then she’s untying them. He didn’t teach her that. She figured that out on her own. Finn says, it serves him right for having a teacher as a father

Spencer asks if he and Cameron can have a moment alone, and Cameron says, anything Spencer can say to him, he can say to their grandma. Starting with why he was late to work again. Spencer says, Cameron told him that he had to choose, and Cameron says, and did he? Spencer says, it’s all taken care of, and Cameron says, good, because he’s going camping. Is Spencer going to be able to take care of everything else here? He hands Spencer his apron, but Spencer says, there’s been a change of plans. If he’s going to take care of everything, he doesn’t have time to buss tables. He hands the apron back, and says, consider this his notice.

Curtis tells Portia, if there’s any chance he could inherit his father’s condition, he wants to know all there is to know about genetic counseling. She says she can put him in touch with a specialist. The more Curtis knows about his father’s condition, the better prepared he’ll be to help his father. He says, if there’s one thing he found out the hard way, it’s that there’s a fine line between helping and interfering. Before he commits to anything, he’ll wait for the okay from Marshall. Portia says, of course (🍷); she understands. He says, unless it means that much to her, but she says she wants him to do what’s best for him. He takes her hands, and says she’s amazing. She’s always thinking of other people and not herself. So if it means that much to her, say the word, and he’ll speak to a specialist.

Rory says, before Trina says anything else, this is where he gets off. She says, because he’s a cop? and he says, the less he knows, the more freedom she has to do what she needs to do. All he can say is, good luck… to Esme. Josslyn asks what he’s talking about, and he says, if she and Trina coming for her, Esme needs to look out. He leaves, and Josslyn says she likes that guy.

Ava says, she and Nikolas can’t sweep their problems under the rug. They went off the rails because they didn’t trust each other enough to be completely honest. He says he admits it was wrong of him to invite Spencer and Esme to live here without consulting her first, and she says she admits, although she and Spencer have reached a kind of détente, Esme is a different story. He says, forget about Esme. Speaking of happy wives, he has something he wants to give her.

Felicia says, just her and Mac are more than enough. And this year, their Christmas newsletter will be embarrassingly filled with all of their blessings. And they can add Bailey Lou this year. He says, sounds good to him, when his phone dings. She asks if it’s about Ryan, and he says, no. They need him at the station, but it shouldn’t take long. Can he meet her at the restaurant? She says she’s a cop’s wife; she’s used to waiting. He tells her not to worry about Ryan. The only place he’s going is back to Spring Ridge. She walks him to the exit doors, then turns around and looks at Ryan’s room, three guards standing outside.

Ryan says, Esme had sex with her boyfriend’s father? and I say, thanks for reminding me. She says, the plan was to break Nikolas and Ava up, right? He says, if there weren’t guards outside the door, and he wasn’t handcuffed to this chair, he would hug her. So tell him everything. How did Ava react when Esme told her? Esme hesitates, and he says, she did tell Ava that mewling idiot she married cheated, didn’t she?

Portia says, Curtis has gone his whole life without knowing about his father’s illness, so there’s no rush to see a genetic specialist. Curtis and his father have been doing so good lately. Why doesn’t Curtis wait and talk to Marshall; see what he thinks about it. He thanks her for understanding, and says, as soon as he gets the all clear, he’s taking Marshall home. Home. Sounds good, doesn’t it? She says, it sounds real good, and he kisses her, saying, home, one more time before he goes out the door. Portia leans on the table a moment, then picks up her phone. She says, this is Dr. Portia Robinson, and she’d like to set up a consultation with one of their counselors… She has a few questions that require a genetic specialist.

Josslyn says she can’t believe they’re back to square one with Esme, but Trina says, not necessarily. Josslyn says, she has a new idea? and Trina says, yeah. They have to forget about breaking up Esme and Spencer. They need to break down Esme’s story to prove she’s the guilty one. And Trina knows exactly how to do that.

Epiphany says she doesn’t know where Marshall’s doctor could be, and starts to leave, but he says, they have some unfinished business too. She says she thought he said his clarinet was damaged, and he says, instruments can be repaired easier than people can. Besides, they never got around to that second date. She says, is he asking her out? and he says, is she saying yes? mimicking her with his hand on his hip. They laugh.

Gregory says he knows how much Finn wants to help Elizabeth, but he thinks the best thing Finn can do for her is take care of her boys, and trust Elizabeth to know what’s best for her. Violet runs over, and says, she did it, showing Gregory her knot. He tells her, good job, and they high-five.

Laura says, Spencer is quitting his job? and Spencer says, Ava restored his trust fund allowance. He thinks he should be able to get by on ten thousand. Cameron says, ten thousand a year? but Spencer says, no, a week. Violet pops her head in, and tells Cameron, it’s time to go. They have a trip to get to. Cameron tells Spencer that he’s on the schedule tonight. Cameron has no one else to cover for him. Finish his shift. Cameron hands back the apron, and says he’s got to go. Spencer says, one last shift won’t hurt, and Cameron says, bussing tables is a lot easier than living at Windymere with Ava, Esme, and Spencer’s dad. He hopes Spencer knows what he’s doing. He thanks Laura, and hugs her. She tells him that he made the right choice, and to have fun. Cameron leaves, and Laura looks at Spencer. He tells her, say something, and she says, she was wondering, if Ava is giving him an allowance, what is he giving her in return?

Ava tells Nikolas, she doesn’t need presents. All she wants is for them to be open and honest going forward. He says he totally agrees. That’s why he thinks he found the perfect way to thank her for giving him a second chance. He wants a divorce.

Esme tells Ryan, she’s playing long game; finding just the right time for Ava to learn about Nikolas’s infidelity. He says he sees, and she says she knew he’d understand, and takes his hands. He say, indeed he does, and she tries to pull away, but he holds on. She says, that hurts, and he says, it’s meant to. Because words can’t possibly express his disappointment.

Felicia walks toward Ryan’s room.

On Monday, Ava asks Nikolas, what happened to working things out; Spencer says, the key is in Esme’s past; Carly thinks they should give credit where credit is due; and Sonny says, Jordan has something of his, and he wants it back.
