What I Watched Today

General Hospital

Sonny walks into the Tan-O, looking disheveled. Phyllis says he’s been gone all day. She was starting to worry. Where’d he disappear to? He says he’s sorry. He had something very important to take care of.

Carly knocks on Elizabeth’s door, but Elizabeth says, it’s not a good time. Carly says she’ll keep it brief, and Elizabeth lets her in. Carly asks if the kids are there, and Elizabeth says, no. Why? Carly says she doesn’t want them to hear and get upset, although they’re going to find out soon enough. Jason was arrested for Franco’s murder.

Finn moons over a picture of him and Anna, when Chase walks into his office. Chase asks if it’s a bad time, but Finn says, no; never. Chase says he knows he could have handled things better, and shouldn’t have stormed off after they got the results. Finn says, none of this is Chase’s fault. Chase doesn’t have to apologize or explain anything. He has a lot to process. Chase says, they both did, but Finn isn’t his brother. Finn is his biological father.

Cyrus says it seems Jackie has had a busy week, and plops down across from her at the MetroCourt. She says she doesn’t have time to play games. Get lost. Cyrus urges her to reconsider, when Robert puts his hand on Cyrus’s shoulder, and says he thinks Cyrus is sitting in his seat.

Olivia opens the door to Ned, who thanks her for having him over. He didn’t think he’d be hearing from her again so soon. She says, hear her out, and he says he just wants her to know how glad he is that they’re at least talking. He knows they have a lot to work through… She says, it’s not about them. She needs to talk to him about his daughter.

Outside Kelly’s, Nina tells Valentin that she needs to get out of Port Charles for a while. He asks, why? What happened? Talk to him. She tells him, don’t make it any harder. Just tell Charlotte that she loves her. He says he does, every night, and she says he’s a great father. She puts her hand on his cheek, and leaves. He runs into Brook on his way out, and asks when she got back to Port Charles. She says she just hit town, and he says it’s great to see her; they have a lot to catch up on. She says he has no idea.

At Kelly’s, Sam calls Spinelli. She says she needs him to find Maxie. She’s afraid Maxie is meeting with Peter… Maxie is with him? If she didn’t text Peter, then who did?

Dante stands by Nathan’s grave, and takes out his gun. Peter runs in, and asks, where’s Maxie? She texted him to meet her there. Dante says, Maxie didn’t text Peter. He did. Peter says, Dante texted him from Maxie’s phone? Why? Dante says it was the easiest way to get Peter there, and Peter asks why Dante wants him there. Dante aims his gun at Peter, and says, to complete the mission.

Chase says, when Finn opened the test results, he didn’t know what to expect. Part of him hoped it was just some horrible misunderstanding that the dad he grew up with wasn’t his actual father. But the DNA test results show otherwise. Finn says he hasn’t always had the best experience with test results from the lab at GH. With Chase’s permission, he’d like to run another paternity test with someone he knows at the lab at Mercy Hospital. Chase says it’s Finn’s call. Does he think the results will change? Finn says he doesn’t know, but thinks it’s worth exhausting all their options, just to eliminate any doubt. Chase says if it makes Finn feel better, and Finn says, if it’s any consolation, it blindsided him too. He believed in his heart, Chase was his brother, but dad will always be Chase’s father. It’s up to Chase. Maybe this doesn’t have to change their relationship. Chase says he can’t keep pretending Finn is his brother. Everything he counted on, everything he thought he knew about his family, is wrong. He thinks differently now, and doesn’t know how to deal with it. Finn says, him neither.

Valentin says he was almost going to call Brook the other day. They’ve had some positive strides at Deception, and he wondered if she wanted to be included. She says it’s sweet of him to think of her, but her voice hasn’t fully recovered yet, and it may never recover. He says he doesn’t know if he can offer her consolation for a lost singing career, but she’s very good, and very creative, and very good at thinking outside the box. She says, not everyone views those qualities in a positive light, and thanks him. He says he thinks she’d make a good manager, if she’s interested, and wants to put in the hours. She says she’d love to, but she has other plans at the moment. She turns to go, and he says, wait a minute. Is she avoiding him? She says, obviously she’s trying to, but it’s not working. She tells him that she might as well get this over with, and opens her coat. He laughs.

Olivia tells Ned that Brook is back in Port Charles, and he asks if she’s seen Brook. She says, Brook spent last night at the house, but she didn’t know anything about it, until she saw Brook this morning. He wonders why Brook wouldn’t call him, and Olivia says, she was probably trying to delay the reunion. She’s got some news. He asks, what kind of news? and Olivia tells him, it’s not her place to say. He says, this is Brook Lynn they’re talking about. The more advance warning, the better. She promises Brook isn’t in any jeopardy, but she thought them being under the same roof increased their chances of coming face to face. He says she’s still looking out for him, in spite of everything, and she asks if he thought she wouldn’t.

Phyllis asks if Sonny wants to talk about it, and he asks if the coffee is fresh. She says, it is, and she’ll be happy to pour him a cup, as soon as he assures her that he’s taking his medication. He says, like clockwork, and she says she’s sorry if she seems intrusive, but he’s still getting used to the prescription. When he’s gone all day, and shows up looking… exhausted… He says he appreciates her worrying, but it has nothing to do with his health. He didn’t get in any kind of trouble. He was playing poker, trying to win enough money to get his rings back.

Elizabeth tells Carly, she literally just got back from Franco’s memorial, and starts to open the door. Carly says, it must have been incredibly painful. Sonny’s was for her. Elizabeth closes the door again, and says she knows Carly has also suffered a devastating loss, but she doesn’t want to fight. Carly says, then let’s not fight. She knows Elizabeth wants justice for Franco, and she knows Jason is innocent. Elizabeth says, the police disagree, and Carly says, because they’re acting on bad information, some of which they got from Elizabeth. Elizabeth says her statement was accurate. She told them exactly what she saw the night Franco was shot. Franco was lying on the ground, and bleeding from his chest, from a gunshot wound, and Jason was kneeling over him. Carly asks if Jason had a gun, and Elizabeth says, Jason always has a gun. Carly asks if Elizabeth saw Jason with a gun, and Elizabeth says, no. Carly asks if it’s possible Jason found Franco lying there, and was kneeling beside Franco to check his pulse. Elizabeth says, no. Jason would never help Franco. Carly asks how Elizabeth knows that? How does she know what happened before she got there? Why is she so sure Jason is guilty?

Peter backs away from Dante, and asks what Dante is doing. Dante says, isolated spot, no witnesses. He doubts anyone will know Peter was there or wonder where he is, because he has no friends left anymore. Peter says he’s never done anything to Dante, but Dante says Peter is a threat to Maxie.

Valentin says, Brook is pregnant, and she says he’s very observant. He asks if he’s the father, and she says he cuts right to the chase. He says, yes or no? and she says they had a one-night stand that turned out to be more memorable than either of them expected. He asks why she didn’t tell him. He could have offered to help, offered support. She tells him to slow his roll. They had one night together and it was just for fun. She doesn’t want him bound to her or this baby. He says, it’s a little late for that. Assuming he’s the father, he has every bit as much responsibility as she does. He’s not letting her go through this by herself.   

Ned asks Olivia if there’s any way to make it right between them, but she says she can’t get into it now. He says, if not now, when? They’ve seen each other three times since it went down. She says she doesn’t know how to go forward, but if they’re able to put the marriage together, it won’t be the same marriage. He asks what she means, and she says, they’ve changed. She’s watched him become more cutthroat in business, especially where family members are concerned. Ned says he’s made some decisions he regrets, and Olivia says, it’s not a judgement. She’s not saying ambition is a bad thing. She’s just surprised ELQ became his prime focus in life. He asks how she’s changed, and she says she would hope he’s seen it for himself. When she gave up hope that Dante was coming home, she was devastated, but at the same time, it opened up her life in a way she never would have imagined. For the first time in years, she could see herself as her own person again; not just an appendage, or Dante and Leo’s mother, or… He says, or his wife. She says it gave her a chance to rediscover the Olivia who took big chances, who leaped before she looked. She got to see new parts of the world, and got in trouble. He says he can’t help but notice all this happened when she was with Robert.

Cyrus gets up, and Robert takes the seat. Robert says Cyrus is going to have to move along. He doesn’t want to be accused of loitering. Cyrus says he’s glad Jackie is speaking to her lawyers. She’ll be hearing from his soon, regarding his mother. He leaves, and Robert asks if she’s all right. She says Cyrus doesn’t intimidate her, and he says he’s not talking about Cyrus. She asks if he talked to Anna, and he says, Anna kind of filled in the gaps in that chaos of a wedding. She says, then he knows her secret. The secret she’s been keeping all these years. He says he’s not one to make a judgement call, but it’s too bad she went through it alone. She asks who would have been there to help? Gregory? Finn? Her son? Robert says, how about him? but she says he was halfway around the world when she got pregnant. She couldn’t call him long distance – remember long distance? And even if she’d reached out, what could he have done? Robert says he’d like to think he would have listened back then, but he can certainly listen now. In some ways, he feels closer to her than he ever did.  

Chase says, ever since he can remember, he wanted a relationship with his older brother. He finally got one, and now it’s gone. Finn isn’t who he thought at all. Finn says Chase is absolutely right. Their relationship can’t ever be the same, but maybe they can figure out how it can work now. Chase says, it’s not a bad idea, but even if they push past this awkwardness, how can he treat Finn as a dad and not betray the dad he knows?  

Peter tells Dante that he loves Maxie. Maxie is carrying his child. He would never hurt her. Dante says Maxie is better off without Peter, and Peter says Dante is suffering from PTSD, and not in his right mind. Dante says he has to complete the mission, and Peter asks who gave him the mission? Peter backs up and trips, falling to the ground. Dante stands over him with the gun, when Sam runs in, and says, stop!

Brook tells Valentin, it’s her pregnancy, and she doesn’t want him involved. She didn’t intend to make a child, but thanks him for his initial contribution. She’ll take it from here. He says her decisions about her body are her own, but when the baby is born, they’re his too. He wants a role in the baby’s life, and it’s not up for negotiation. She says, if he has any role in this child’s life, it will be on her terms. Now if he’ll excuse her… He says they’re not done, and she says she’ll call him.

Phyllis says she didn’t notice that Sonny’s rings were gone, and he says she’s had a few things on her mind. She says he sold them to buy his way into the game? and he says he pawned them. She says, then he used his winnings to save the Tan-O. He says he’s happy to do it, and she says she’s happy he did, but he didn’t have to give them everything. He should have kept something to buy his rings back. He says he didn’t think he needed to. He was going to play again, but the boys learned from their mistakes, and took it out on him. He barely broke even. She says she’s sorry, but he says she doesn’t need to be. That’s how the game is played. She says he can’t lose his rings. Besides his watch, they’re the only thing connecting him to his past.

Elizabeth tells Carly, Franco made a mistake, and asked Jason to kill him. That night, Franco was agitated. Carly asks, how agitated? but Elizabeth says she doesn’t know. Sam and Dante said Franco was at the MetroCourt looking for Jason, and Franco said to tell Jason, I’m still me. Does Carly know what that means? Carly says it sounds like Elizabeth does, and Elizabeth says, it means Franco knew he wasn’t a threat, and didn’t want Jason to kill him, but Jason didn’t care. He tracked Franco to the art studio, and shot him anyway. Carly says, if Jason had been responsible, there would be no evidence, and probably not even a body. Franco would have disappeared without a trace. Elizabeth says she’s sure that was what was supposed to happen, but then she showed up. Carly says, and she’s determined to blame Jason. Elizabeth says, Jason did it. She begged him not to. Franco had told her about their horrific deal, and she confronted Jason, telling him it was unnecessary, but he wouldn’t listen. He wouldn’t call it off. Carly says the reason why she knows Jason didn’t kill Franco is because Elizabeth knew. Jason would never put Elizabeth and Jake in that position, and Elizabeth knows that.

Sam tells Dante, stop; don’t do this. What’s going on? Peter tells her, call the police, but she says she’s not talking to him. She tells Dante, it’s her, Sam. What is he doing? Dante says Peter is a threat to Maxie and the baby. He has to protect them and keep them safe. Sam agrees Peter deserves to pay, but not like this. Dante says he has to complete the mission, and Sam asks if someone ordered him to kill Peter. Dante says, this is justice for Maxie and Drew, but Sam says justice is for Peter to be arrested, stand trial, and spend the rest of his life in prison. That’s what Peter deserves, not Dante. Don’t throw his life away because of Peter.

Sam tells Dante, think about it. Everyone loses if he pulls the trigger; his mom, his brothers, his son. Think about Rocco. Rocco needs a father, and Dante is all he has. Dante flashes back to holding baby Rocco, and Sam asks, isn’t Rocco more important than his mission? Dante lowers the gun, and she says, it’s okay, taking it from him. She tells Peter, he dodged a bullet. Get out. Peter says that crazy bastard tried to kill him. He’s not getting away with it. He leaves, and Dante asks where Peter is. Sam says, he’s gone; he took off running. Is Dante okay? He says, she stopped him, and she says, someone had to.

Sonny says, pawning his rings was the only way to buy into the game, and the only shot he had at getting the money they needed to hold on to the Tan-O. Phyllis asks, since when is it his job to save their business? and he says, is she kidding him? After everything they’ve done for him, he wants to repay them in a small way. She laughs, and says, small? They didn’t want to sell, but it might have been for the best. The closest thing they have to family are the strays she takes under her wing, like him and Elijah. She’d like to know the Tan-O is in good hands when they’re six feet under.

Carly tells Elizabeth, forget about the bargain and the circumstantial evidence. Think about the Jason she knows. He’d never hurt her or Jake by killing Franco. Elizabeth says, he knew the tumor was back, and was convinced Franco was a threat. In his mind, killing Franco was protecting them. Carly asks if that’s what was going through Elizabeth’s mind when she saw Jason, what shaped her perspective. Is it possible she saw what she expected to see? Think about it. Can’t she see Jason was just trying to help Franco, and not hurt him? Elizabeth asks if this is where Carly tells her to change her statement, and say she saw what she didn’t. She’s not perjuring herself. Carly says, someone already has that handled.

Olivia says, not this again. For the millionth time, nothing is going on between her and Robert. Ned is projecting his infidelities on her. He says, she’s right. His actions tore them apart, and he regrets it every minute of every day, but he’s starting to wonder if that’s why they can’t move past this, and the other problems in their marriage that they weren’t able to recognize until now. She says, such as? and he says she was a brilliant first lady of Port Charles, and an equally brilliant wife and mother. It never occurred to him that while he was relying on her to do everything she does to run the house, support the family, and stand by his side, he might also be holding her back, while maybe another man was allowing her to soar.

Brook walks into the Quartermaine mansion, and asks if Michael is still there. Ned comes out, and says, Brook. She says, hi, and he says, she’s … is that? She nods, and says, congratulations. He’s going to be a grandpa.  

Jackie tells Robert, if the last few days showed her anything, it’s that she has a lot of soul searching to do, and a lot to figure out. She’s a walking cliché; a professional success, but her personal life is a disaster. He thinks she’s exaggerating, but she says, especially where Gregory is concerned. He’s a good man. They loved each other, and she left his life in tatters. Robert says it sounds like she needs a friend.

Finn says, Gregory will always be the man who raised Chase. He wouldn’t change that if he could. He wonders where that leaves them, but Chase doesn’t know. He just thought it was fair to tell Finn what was going through his head. He owes Finn that much. Finn says, it means a lot that Chase came to see him, and that they’re still talking. Both of their phones ding. They look at their phones, and then look at each other.

Robert tells Jackie, most of his exes can attest that he was a lousy father, but a good friend. He’s offering himself in that capacity as of now. She thanks him, and says, it means more than he knows. He asks what she’s drinking, and she says, scotch, of course (🍷). He thinks he’ll join her, and her phone dings. She sees a headline in The Invader, asking, Who’s the Daddy? along with photos of her, Chase, Finn, and Gregory, and an article about the paternity test.

Ned says, a baby? and Brook asks if he’s disappointed. He says, never. He’s surprised, very surprised. Why didn’t she say anything? She says, for the same reason she left. She needed to find a way to prove herself on her own. He says he was incredibly unfair, but she says she was unfair to him too. Face it. They’re a lot alike, in both good and not so good ways. She needed time and distance to figure out her life. After her singing career stopped, everything changed. He asks if the baby’s father is in the picture, and she says, about that. He might want to sit down.

Jackie goes to Finn’s office, and he and Chase just look at her. She asks if they saw, and then guesses they did. Chase says, the article in The Invader? They saw it, along with most of Port Charles. She says she had no idea, and Finn says, another one for the tight security at GH. She says she’s going to have Peter’s head on a pike. I tell her, get in line, and Chase says she’s got to love the irony.

Carly tells Elizabeth, the witness claims they saw Jason put the gun in the garbage shoot. The PCPD retrieved the gun, and there were no prints on it, but the pegged it as the murder weapon. Elizabeth says, that proves Jason is guilty, but Carly says, think about the Jason she knows. He’d never panic, or get sloppy, or drop incriminating evidence in a garbage shoot where the victim was. Elizabeth says Jason didn’t expect her to show up, but Carly says, the witness lying; it’s a set up. Elizabeth can’t see it because she’s determined to blame Jason. (BTW, my bad yesterday for calling it a laundry shoot. To throw the gun in there would have been stupider than Jason being the one to throw it.)

Sonny asks if Phyllis and Lenny never had kids, and Phyllis says they had a baby girl a long time ago. She only lived a few days, but they loved her a lot. Losing her was terrible, indescribable. They wanted another child, but they were afraid, so they kept trying to put it off. They kept putting it off, and next thing they knew, too much time had passed. He says he’s sorry, and she says, don’t be. She and Lenny have a good life, besides, it left room in her heart for strays like him. Sonny says, a lot of people think she’s crazy for taking him in, and she says, everyone can keep their opinions to themselves. What about him? Does he think he has children out there?

Sam asks what Dante was thinking, going after Peter? He says he wasn’t, and Sam says Dante was going to shoot Peter, and Dante says he wasn’t thinking. In his head, he had to eliminate Peter. It was like he was outside himself, watching it happen. He holds his head, and says they told him he was better. He spent time in the Geneva facility, and they told him he was better. They told him that he’s recovered, but he’s not. He thinks he needs help; he’s scared. She takes his hand, and says, it’s okay. They’ll get him some help. He clutches her hand.

On the phone, Valentin tells Martin that he wants to meet. There have been unexpected developments that require Martin’s expertise.

Brook tells Ned, she crashed on Chase’s couch, but he’s completely in love with Willow. She flirted with Dustin, but it was nothing, and now she feels doubly guilty. He asks what she’s not telling him, and she says he already knows some of it. They had that hideous fight, and she was feeling reckless and misunderstood. She ended up commiserating with Valentin. He says, stop. Valentin is the father of the baby? She says, get it over with. Be as mad as he needs to. He says he’s not mad, and she says, disappointed. He says he’s not mad or disappointed. He’s thrilled to be a grandfather, and thrilled she’s going to be a mother. She says, but he’s less than thrilled about the father? He says he finds it concerning that Valentin, the man who orchestrated a hostile takeover, and manipulated their family to do it, is now tied to the same family through her baby. She says she gets it, but he has to trust her. She knows exactly what she’s doing.

Olivia sees Robert at the MetroCourt, and tells him that she and Ned are trying to talk, but it’s slow going. One step forward, six back. He says he’s sorry, and she says, her too. She wants to move forward, but she’s stuck. She can’t get past him having cheated. He says he had his suspicions at Thanksgiving when Ned and Alexis had their heads together. He should have said something then, but he didn’t want to make trouble, and figured she was smart enough to figure it out for herself. She thanks him, and he says, you’re welcome… for what? She says giving her credit for being as strong as she knows she is. He says he’s seen her as a spy. It was a game changer. She laughs, and he says, as it turns out, his table for two shrunk to a table for one. Does she care to join him? She says, sounds perfect.

Chase says Jackie’s whole career has been uncovering secrets. She says her gold standard is truth and integrity, but it’s secretly her own double-standard. Jackie suggests they talk, but Chase says he’s all talked out, and leaves. Jackie asks if Finn thinks Chase will ever forgive her, and he says he doesn’t know, but he’s entitled to feel what he wants to feel, including anger. She has to give him time. She says, this is exactly what she was afraid of when Finn wanted the DNA test; they’d have to brave a whole new world. But now that the whole world knows, are they any better off?

Cyrus says Peter seems worse for the wear, and Peter says, there’s a reason for that. Cyrus asks if he’d care to elaborate. Peter asks if he has Cyrus’s assurance that his witness will hold up, and Cyrus says, they will. Now Peter has kept his end of the bargain. Peter says he doesn’t blame Cyrus for wanting payback. He’s lucky Jackie had a family scandal waiting to be exposed. Cyrus remembers calling the lab and saying there’s a DNA test that’s of interest to him. Make sure the results show what he wants them to show. Cyrus tells Peter, since they’ve entered this mutually beneficial arrangement, he should know Cyrus makes his own luck.   

Sam brings Dante to the hospital, and asks the reception nurse to call Doc. It’s important. It’s about his son-in-law.  

Carly says, Elizabeth wanted Jason to forget Franco’s past. She wanted the tumor to be the cause of everything, and wanted Jason to forget and forgive the horrible things Franco did, but he wouldn’t. Elizabeth says, no, he wouldn’t, even when Franco turned his life around. Even when Franco helped Jake heal, and got Carly out of Ferncliff. Even when Franco married her, and made her happy. Jason hated Franco, and the first chance he got, Jason killed him. Carly says it doesn’t matter how bad Elizabeth needs to believe it; she’s wrong. But someone killed Franco, and as long as she clings to the lie that Jason did it, she’s helping whoever did, get away with it. She leaves, and Elizabeth closes the door.    

Sonny tells Phyllis, he doesn’t remember anyone, except in his dream. He doesn’t know what his life was before. He just hopes no one thinks he took off on them, but he doesn’t want to go there. Why worry about something he doesn’t have the answers to? She says he was out all night. Maybe he wants to grab a nap before they open. He says he thinks he’ll take her up on that. She laughs, and says, sweet dreams. He goes upstairs, and she hears the door. She says, sorry; they’re not open yet. Nina walks in, and says, surprise! Phyllis runs to her, and they hug.    

On Monday, Michael tells Chase that he knows what’s going on, Brook has a plan, and Nina tells Phyllis it was more complicated than she realized.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Chase asks Jackie if Violet is okay, and Jackie says, she fell asleep watching a movie. He thanks her for getting Violet out of there, and she says she could tell things were about to go south. What ended up happening? He says, apparently, Anna knew Peter wasn’t her son, and didn’t tell Finn. He’s sure it was hard for her, so he’s trying not to judge, but how can you plan on marrying somebody, and keep something so major from them?

Finn is looking out the window, when there’s a knock at the door. It’s Anna, who asks if she can come in. He steps aside, and she says she’s sure he has a lot of questions. He says, just one. What else is she lying about?

Maxie tells Peter, she’s getting nervous. Why hasn’t he answered her? He says because he can’t believe she still wants to marry him, and she says, of course (🍷) she does. Her love for him hasn’t changed just because his mother has. He asks if she’s sure; he doesn’t want her pity. She says, the one she pities is Obrecht. She was so determined to wreck their lives, she made enemies out of everyone. What Peter does have is her love, her respect, and her heart. She hopes she still has his. He says she does, and he will marry her. Obrecht tells Valentin, Peter isn’t who Maxie thinks he is. The pretense of morality and kindness is all a lie. He’s a manipulator who can’t be trusted. He mustn’t be allowed to go home to her grandson. She owes it to Nathan to keep James safe. She walks over to Dante, and takes out her pen. Britt asks what she’s doing, and Obrecht says, what must be done; Maxie and James must be protected. Valentin practically shouts, sorry, Maxie. He can’t allow this wedding to continue. Not until she knows who Peter truly is. Maxie makes an exasperated noise, and asks Peter what Valentin is talking about. Peter says he doesn’t know, and asks Valentin, what the hell is he talking about? Valentin says, this has gone on long enough. It’s time the truth was brought to light.

At the MetroCourt bar, Carly asks Jax if everything is all right. He says, yes… Nina’s not returning his calls. He thought he’d run into her downstairs, but she skipped out on Maxie’s wedding. Carly says, that’s one sacred ceremony she can’t desecrate, and he makes a face. She says she thinks she might know where Nina is, or rather who she’s with. He asks, who? and she says, Wiley.

Michael opens the door to Nina, and asks her to come in. She thanks him for inviting her over, and he says he’s glad she could make it on such short notice. She says, is he kidding? She would have jumped off an airplane mid-flight to be there. She’s grateful, and thanks him for giving her a chance to get to know her grandson and be in his life. It means the world to her.

On the phone, Franco leaves a message for Obrecht, saying, he checked himself into the MetroCourt, just for the night, until he can check himself into Shadybrook tomorrow. If she feels like breaking into a hotel, give him a call back. There’s a knock at the door, and Franco opens it to Elizabeth and Cameron. He asks what they’re doing there, and Elizabeth says he didn’t bring much stuff with him, so they brought a few things to make it feel like home. Franco says he would have managed, but Cameron says, it was his idea. He got upset, and stormed off. He didn’t have a chance to say goodbye.

Valentin says Maxie needs to listen to him, and Peter says she doesn’t. She says, everyone needs to just stop. It doesn’t matter to her who Peter’s mother is. It doesn’t change her love for him. Valentin says it doesn’t change the way he feels either. He’s not condemning Peter because Alex is his mother. Peter condemned Peter through the actions he’s taken, and the choices he’s made. Peter is a liar. His redemption is a lie. You can’t have redemption if you lack the capacity to acknowledge who you really are. Peter clearly doesn’t have the courage to do that, so he’ll do it for him. Everyone waits…

Jax says, it was generous of Michael to allow Nina to have a relationship with Wiley, and Carly asks if he’s surprised. He says, of course (🍷) not. He’s sure Nina appreciates it. Carly says, she’s sure too, and he asks if she thinks Michael is wrong. She says she thinks Wiley should get to know his grandmother, but she’s still furious at Nina. Her behavior was out of line at Sonny’s grave, and she’d tell Nina to her face, but that’s between her and Nina, not Wiley. But she’s worried about Nina spending too much time with Wiley right now, not once things have settled down, and Nina has faced her new reality. It’s been one shock piled on another. Even before Nina found out Nelle was her daughter, she made excuses for Nelle, painting her as not as guilty as she was. Jax says, trying to redeem Nelle’s memory, and she says, if Nina allows that to bleed onto Wiley, what is that going to do to that little boy?

Willow sees Nina, and says, that was fast. Nina tells her, the name Wiley put some pep in her step. Can she see him? Willow says he’s playing with blocks, and brings Nina into the living room. She says, look who’s here to visit him, and Michael asks if he remembers Nina, his grandmother. Wiley nods, and I’m telling you, that kid is going places.

Franco tells Cameron, enough with the goodbye stuff, and Elizabeth says, it’s a temporary arrangement until the issue with the tumor is resolved. Cameron says, and if they aren’t? and Franco says, those are the only two options, but Terry says while the tumor isn’t shrinking, it’s not growing either. That’s good news. Elizabeth says, very good. It gives them time to figure things out. Franco takes a phone out of the suitcase, and says, what’s this?

Jackie tells Chase, she knows he’s protective of his brother, and he should be, but try not to be too hard on him. Relationships are more complicated than anyone outside of them knows. Chase says he’s figuring that out. He’s sorry for not realizing how strained things were between her and Gregory. He had such an amazing childhood, and so many fun memories. That’s all he knew. She says, it’s all he should know. As a kid, of course, you want your parents to be perfect, and want your world to be secure, and that’s what your parents want for you too. But the truth is, we’re all making it up as we go along, and none of us is perfect. We’re doing the best we can, and sometimes it’s enough, but sometimes it’s not.  

Finn says, Anna knew since she got the lab results that Peter wasn’t her son? and she says, yeah. He says, and the plan was to never tell him? She says, there was no plan. When we found out the truth, we realized everything had to be contained. Finn says, we? and she says, her and Valentin. He says, so she trusted that little weasel more than she trusted him.

Peter says he doesn’t know why Valentin is doing this, but Valentin says, yeah, he does. Maxie asks if someone can get Valentin out of there, and Mac starts to move, but Robert stops him, and says he thinks Maxie should listen to Valentin. Peter says he thought Valentin cared about him all these years, and Valentin says he does. Peter is the man he is today because of the actions Valentin took. Don’t think that’s ever been lost on him. That’s why he promised to protect Peter from Jason, but he’s not going to allow Peter to hurt anyone else, definitely not Maxie.

Franco looks at the phone, and asks what phone it is; it’s three models ago. Cameron says Franco might want what’s on it. Franco said he was suffering some side effects of what Shiloh did. When he thought he was Drew, and they were about to do the procedure to bring him back, he asked for a phone to record something on. Elizabeth says, Drew left a video, the one Franco has put off watching for over a year. Cameron says he thought it might help Franco understand the voices he’s hearing, and Franco says, cool, thanks. Cameron says, he’s not going to listen? and Franco says he’d do anything to get Drew out of his head, and looks in the suitcase, wondering what else is in there.

Carly tells Jax, she’s worried Nina is going to tell Wiley her version of who Nelle was, and they know that version is a lie. He says, yes, but it’s not like they can have an open conversation about Nelle. She says, no kid that age should know their mother was insane and a killer, but he shouldn’t believe in a fantasy that’s only going to be shattered. What if when he gets old enough, he does research, and finds out on his own who Nelle was? Jax says, he’ll be devastated, and she says, that’s why she thinks, while he’s still young, they shouldn’t tell him much at all. When he asks, they’ll say Nelle was troubled and had problems; keep it vague. When he’s mature enough to understand, they can tell him that Nelle had a terrible and abusive childhood, and grew up to do terrible, abusive things. Jax says, and Carly doesn’t think Nina is in a place to understand and abide by that? and she says she knows Nina isn’t. But it’s Willow and Michael’s decision, and she has to honor that. She’s scared that their best intentions will turn out awful for Wiley.

Anna tells Finn, she knows how it looks. When everything happened with Jordan and Curtis, she was afraid they were headed down the same road. He says, it’s not the same. He knew what he was getting into when he fell in love with her. He knew certain parts of her life existed in the shadows, but he didn’t think she’d keep secrets from him, and confide in someone else. She says she’s sorry, but he says he doesn’t want an apology; he wants an explanation.

Maxie tells Valentin, this isn’t news to her. She’s aware Peter was coerced by Helena and Faison into kidnapping Drew. Valentin says, but Peter wasn’t an unwitting pawn. He was trying to double-cross his father with Helena’s help. Peter asks why Valentin is lying, and Valentin says, Helena wanted it done, and Peter orchestrated the whole thing, but it was a long time ago. The point is, Peter knew what he did was wrong, and in working to cover it up, he did something much worse in the process. Maxie says, like what? and Peter says, she knows Valentin is a liar. She says she needs to know what Valentin is accusing Peter of. What is this horrible act that was so much worse than anything else? Valentin says, Peter brought down Drew’s plane, and she asks if he’s saying Peter is responsible for murdering Drew. Valentin says, yes.

Sam heads toward Peter, but Robert holds her back. She says, you son of a bitch. She knew it. He killed Scout’s father. Maxie says, it can’t be true, and Obrecht says it’s why she was released. Peter framed her for his crimes. Robert says he suspected as much, and Maxie says, because Robert hates Peter. Peter says, this is absurd, and suggests he and Maxie get out of there, but Mac says he’s not taking Maxie anywhere. Valentin says, first, Drew’s plane went down, and looks at Sam and asks, then what happened? Sam says she was kidnapped by Shiloh, and Valentin says, Shiloh knew Peter was responsible for Drew’s kidnapping. That’s why Peter arranged Shiloh’s escape, and was on the pier with a bag of money. He wasn’t buying an apartment; he was paying Shiloh off. Covering up one crime by committing a worse one in the process.

Franco asks Cameron if he’s going to be buying sunscreen and visors to visit him in California, and Cameron says, no one wears visors. Franco says he loves a visor. Lots of people like them. Cameron isn’t answering his question. Cameron tells Franco, remember when he said he wanted less Drew inside his head? and Franco says, oh, he gets it. Cameron doesn’t want to be pestered about college. Cameron says he catches on fast; good for him. Franco says he’s super smart; everyone says so. Elizabeth’s phone dings, and she says, it’s the hospital. She has to go in. Cameron says he’ll hang out for a few minutes, and meet her back at home, but Franco says, it’s not safe for Cameron to stay there.

Jax says he knows Carly is in a different headspace where Nina is concerned, but he feels terrible. They made a huge mistake in not telling Nina that Nelle was her daughter, and a bigger mistake forgetting Wiley was her grandson. She says, not on purpose, and he says, that doesn’t make right. They don’t get to decide if Nina gets to have a relationship with Wiley. She says she agrees 100%, and he says, it’s actually a blessing… Hear him out. Nina gets to have  a relationship with her grandson without Nelle around. Even though she might not realize it, it’s the best thing for Wiley. Carly says, amen to that, and he says he knows he doesn’t get a say, but Carly is right. He doesn’t think Nina is capable of seeing Nelle for who she was. Nina sees her as a victim. Carly says, that’s the picture Nina will paint, Nelle the way she wanted her to be, and Jax says, that’s okay now, but it would be sad if it was a pattern that got laid down. Without realizing it, Nina could inflict pain and grief on her grandson. I guess these two still haven’t learned not to make decisions for other people.    

Wiley smashes whatever he was building with his monster truck, and Michael tells Nina, Wiley is in a phase where all the building part is just a means is total destruction. Nina says Nathan was like that. He’d have her spend hours constructing a huge tower, just to have him take it out like Godzilla. Michael looks at his phone, and says, stuff is going down at Aurora. He’ll be back. Willow asks Wiley if mommy can help him build.   

Jackie tells Chase that she and Gregory were happy for a long time. She doesn’t want him thinking he grew up in a lie. For three decades she had the most wonderful family, including an amazing son. He says, go on, and she says she could, for hours. He still brings her that joy. She wouldn’t give up the years with him or his father for anything. There were times when she and his dad were on their own tracks; when tracking a story was too tempting not to go after. Maybe she shouldn’t have. Looking back, there are a thousand things she wishes she’d done differently, but it’s just… Chase says, life, and she says, yeah. Life.

Anan tells Finn that Valentin came to her, and told her that Peter was way more culpable in Jason and Drew’s kidnapping than he’d admitted, and he’d gone to great lengths to cover it up. Meaning, that he’d had Drew’s plane sabotaged, and arranged for the assassin to kill Andre and Franco. Finn asks when she found this out, and she says, a couple of days ago. She realized she could no longer be in denial about Peter’s guilt, and pretend his redemption was anything other than a show. They decided Peter couldn’t marry Maxie… Finn says, so they had Peter abducted on his wedding day. She says, yeah, but she did this with Valentin not because she trusts him more than Finn, but because he understands the complexities of her relationship with Peter. Finn says, and he doesn’t? and she says, Valentin had the same relationship with him. She didn’t want Finn anywhere near this. He’s such a good man, she just didn’t want him to be part of the whole tragic, sordid mess. He thanks her for making the decision for him, and she says she knows he’s angry. She doesn’t blame him, but she can assure him that she didn’t know any of this. She didn’t want to accept how bad Peter really was. She starts to cry, and says, it’s not an excuse. It’s the truth. He says, because of her, he allowed his daughter to be around a murderer, and she says she would never let Violet be in any danger. He says, because of her, the wedding Violet thought she was going to be a part of, was never actually going to happen, because she was too busy playing spy games with Valentin. She says, it happened so fast, there was no time to tell him. He asks if he was really that much of an afterthought.

Willow asks if Wiley thinks he can build the tallest skyscraper ever. Show mommy. Nina says, maybe he’ll grow up to be an architect, and Willow says, may be. It’s kind of wild for her and Nina to be part of the same family, playing games together. Nina says, they’ve come a long way, and Willow says, they’re both in a better place. She certainly is. Nothing can make up for losing a child, but it meant so much for Michael to say he wanted her to stay in Wiley’s life. Nina says, not just stay, but legally adopt. After all that heartache, she’s still Wiley’s mom. The doorbell rings, and Willow opens the door to Carly, who trots in. She says she was texting with Michael, and he said Nina was coming by. How’s it going? Willow says, great. She thinks it will be good for both Nina and Wiley. In the living room, Nina tells Wiley that she’s his grandma, like Grandma Carly, but she’s not his mommy’s mommy. That’s not how they’re related. Wiley laughs, probably because he has no clue what anyone is saying, but it’s fun to build and smash stuff.

Cameron tries to argue, but Elizabeth says she can’t get into it now; she has to get to work. Cameron says, go. He’ll be fine for a few minutes. Franco says his mom is right. He woke from a nightmare, and attacked Cameron. Cameron says, that’s such an exaggeration, and Franco says his head’s not right. Cameron says he can’t believe this. Fine. Is Elizabeth coming with him, or is it okay for her to be there alone with Franco? Elizabeth says she’ll be there in a minute; she’ll meet him in the lobby. Franco tells Cameron, wait, and thanks him for bringing the stuff. He’ll see Cameron in a little bit. Cameron leaves, and Franco tells Elizabeth that she shouldn’t be there. If he’s a potential threat to Cameron, he’s a potential threat to her.  

Robert says he knows it’s painful, but it makes sense, and Maxie says, except for one thing. Anna knew all this? Valentin says, she did, and Maxie says, Anna would never do that to her. Anna loves her, and she knows Anna would never let that happen. If what Valentin is saying is true, Anna would have told her.

Anna tells Finn that she was wrong; she knows that. She just couldn’t see her way out, which makes her no different than Peter. She was selling him on a lie that she was sharing her life with him, and she wasn’t. She thought she was protecting him, but she was really just protecting herself, trying to avoid this moment. He phone rings, and Finn says, don’t answer. She says, it’s Robert. It’s going to be about Peter and Maxie. She asks Robert, what is it? and he tells her, get down here right now. All the information she and Valentin have been hiding is going to hit the fan. He doesn’t know how Peter is going to react if he’s pushed in a corner. She says she understands, and Finn asks if she needs to go. Anna says she wants to work this out, and he says, she has other properties. She says she’s so sorry; she really is. Finn says, so is he, and she leaves.

Jackie tells Chase, everything will be okay. He’s seen her and Gregory. It’s not like they can’t be in the same room; just the opposite. He says, it’s weirdly cordial, and she says they have too much mutual respect for it not to be. He says, it’s getting late. Does she think he should take Violet? She says, probably. She’d love for Violet to stay there, but she’s still practically a stranger. Violet will be more comfortable with him. He says he’ll get her, and she says she loves him. He says he loves her too.

Maxie tells Peter, she’s right, isn’t she? Everything Valentin is saying is a lie. Peter says, of course (🍷) it is. Valentin is the man who lied to Nina for years, and literally trades in secrets. He doesn’t know what game Valentin is playing – Valentin says, no game – but all that matters is he loves her. She has no reason to believe Valentin. Anna appears, and says Maxie has every reason to believe her though.

Willow brings Carly into the living room, and says, how lucky is Wiley? Two grandmothers in one night. Carly asks Wiley for a hug, and says, it’s so good to see him. Is he having fun with Nina? He says, yeah, and Willow suggests Wiley get in his PJs. Then he can come down and play afterward. She takes Wiley upstairs, and Nina asks if Carly is checking up on her. Carly says, no… Actually… Well… she wants to acknowledge that she may have been too blunt. Nina says, that doesn’t sound like an apology, and Carly says, it wasn’t. They both have good reason not to trust each other, but she assumes they both want what’s best for Wiley. Nina says, yes, and Carly suggests they just leave at that.

Franco says it’s not just that he’s being honest with Elizabeth, but he’s being honest with himself. There’s a realistic possibility that these violent outbursts – she says, just one – are going to get worse. She says he sounds like Jason, and he says, Jason’s not wrong. She says, yes he is when it comes to Franco. Jason doesn’t know him like she does; he doesn’t know them. She tells him that she’s scared, and he asks her to come over to him. She sits next to him on the bed, and he holds her. She says she wants to make things perfectly clear; she’ll never give up on him. It doesn’t matter how dark things get, or how dismal things are, she’ll always be his champion. Not just because of what he does for her, but because she loves him. Nothing will ever change that. Nothing. He says, okay. Good enough. He hands Elizabeth her phone, and she says she’ll call him later. She leaves, and he looks at the phone Cameron brought. 

Anna tells Maxie, everything Valentin said is true. Obrecht says, let her guess. Anna has known Peter was guilty the whole time, and allowed her to rot… Anna says, get this woman out of her face or she’ll lose her mind, and Obrecht says Anna’s mind isn’t the only thing she’s about to lose. Valentin drags Obrecht out, still talking, and Anna tells Maxie that she’s sorry. Maxie says, no, because if it was true Peter did those horrible things and Anna knew, Anna would have told her. Anna says she didn’t know until recently. She had her doubts, but she thought she was being paranoid. She thought Peter had changed, but he hadn’t. Maxie asks, when did she have doubts? For how long? Anna says, really too long. She’s sorry. Everyone looks like they’re either pissed off or going to cry. Or both.

Nina picks up her coat, and Michael asks if she’s heading out. Nina says, it’s getting crowd… late. She thanks him for inviting her. Willow comes back with Wiley, and Nina says, perfect timing. She picks Wiley up, and says it was wonderful spending time with him. Willow says, just ten more minutes, and then straight up to bed, and Nina thanks them for thinking of her. Carly asks if Willow is okay, and Willow tells her, Wiley just said she’s not his real mommy. Carly looks at Nina. Okay, my suspension of disbelief is lacking here. Wiley is cute and smart, but there’s no way he got that from what Nina said. I don’t even think he could form that kind of sentence yet.

There’s a knock at Jackie’s door, and she asks if Violet forget something, but it’s Finn.

Franco sits on the floor, and leans against the bed. He looks at the phone, and presses play. He appears on the screen, and says, hi, Franco; it’s Andy. He needs to tell Franco a few things.  

At the MetroCourt bar, Valentin thanks Obrecht for interrupting the wedding. If she hadn’t, he would have had to. She says she’s shocked that he abandoned Peter at the end, but he says he didn’t have a choice.  Anna was willing to go through with it, but if Maxie had married Peter, she would have never been able to live with herself. She says, his devotion to the scarecrow is annoying at best, but this time, it worked to her advantage. And Maxie’s. At least now, she’ll finally be free of Peter. He says, let’s hope so.   

Anna tells Maxie, she knew last year Peter was closely associated with the company who sent the assassin, the man who made the attempt on Andre and Franco’s lives. Peter says he stopped the attack, and she says, amazing that he happened to be there at just that moment. He says, it was luck, and she tells him, just stop. He knew the assassin was there, because he hired the assassin to be there. She tells Maxie that she chose to cover up the connection because she didn’t believe it, for the same reason Maxie doesn’t believe it. She can’t bear the fact that Peter is guilty, but he is. He confessed everything to Valentin. Valentin told her, and she confronted Peter. Peter says they’re both lying. They’re in this together. Anna says, no. She confronted Peter, and gave him every opportunity to tell the truth, but he didn’t; he lied. It made her realize that he will always lie. She doesn’t think it’s his fault, but the man Maxie loves just never existed. Peter says, enough of this. He tells Maxie, let’s get out of here; he’ll explain everything. Mac says, the hell he will, calls Peter a son of a bitch, and punches him in the face.

Maxie sits down, breathing heavily, and Britt and Sam rush over to her. Maxie says, the baby, and Britt says, just breathe. Maxie glares at Peter.  

Tomorrow, Carly asks Nina if she thinks it’s a good idea, Jackie asks Finn if he can get past it, Peter asks if he’s being arrested, and Dante asks Sam if she’s going to tell Jason what happened.

🏖 Since I had the time, I actually paid attention to Summer House. Carl found out his brother had died from an overdose. I have to admit, although I don’t like these people (with the exception of Hannah, who I think is just young), Carl is the most mature of the bunch, and actually seems to be working on himself as a person. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, so all this has gotten him so far is being the designated watcher, since no one is driving anywhere. These are the last people I’d want to go through a tragedy with. Or a victory. Or anything for that matter. Amanda and Hannah compared notes on who attacked who first, and it was all, no, you. Hannah was the clear winner, since Amanda had thrown a glass at her. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but a wine glass could take an eye out. The guys scattered, while the girls all listened in. This was really nice too, considering Carl was trying to keep it together. Kyle tried to turn everyone against Hannah, saying she was out of control, but again, insulting someone vs throwing an object at them that’s not a pillow? The majority couldn’t give a flying, as long as they weren’t in the line of fire. No surprise, Carl couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

As I’m typing this, I realize nothing really ever happens on this show. And this season, they’re even working from home, but still nothing. Ciara still seems pretty sane, but give her time. She tried to explain to Luke that, relationship or not, he should have treated Hannah with more respect. Ergo, she wasn’t interested in more than friendship with him. For Lindsay’s birthday, Stephen got food from the restaurant where he’d asked her to be his girlfriend. He set up a fish and chips dinner outside, and I thought that was pretty romantic, but she told him that she had higher expectations than just going through the motions. I guess she wanted to be wined and dined in the middle of quarantine? They argued, and Stephen split in an Uber. I don’t know if I was missing something, but it seemed like Lindsay just wanted to start sh*t, and then was shocked when Stephen left. Hannah thought she should order some sage for the house, and Kyle said it was the worst day of all time.

Next time, Lindsay says there’s no coming back from it; Hannah says Kyle thinks he’s boss of the house, but he isn’t; and Kyle gets whacked in the balls with a croquet ball.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

I missed the beginning, since that’s the way the week is going, but what happened was… Carly met Diane in the PCPD interrogation room to go over what Carly was going to say to the FBI. Diane said Carly should stick to her original statement, and say Nina misheard them. Maxie found Nina at Crimson, and said she’d heard about what happened at the cemetery, and Nina told her about Jax and Carly knowing Nelle was her daughter. Jax met Alexis at the café, and she said it seemed like he had something on his mind. Michael told Willow about Nelle being Nina’s daughter, and how Nina thought Carly was responsible for Nelle’s death. Anna and Finn were getting ready to look for Obrecht, but Finn had to deliver Peter’s tux to him first. When he left, Valentin showed up, and Anna said she could tell he didn’t have good news. He said their suspicions about Peter were right, and it was worse than they feared. Britt met Obrecht in the club Curtis is thinking of buying. Obrecht showed up wearing a dark fedora and trench coat, looking like a spy, and Britt told her the sparrow had landed. Peter went into the apartment, dropping the mail on the table, but not noticing the envelope from Dimitri Marick. Then I sat down, and…

Diane tells Carly, they’re going to want to interview Jax. Is there any chance he had second thoughts about backing her? Carly says he told Nina that they’d talked to the authorities before they found out Nelle was Nina’s daughter. They all felt bad, before Nina went off at Sonny’s grave, which is exactly why they chose not to tell her. Diane says, and here we are. They should have told Nina the moment they discovered it; it would have saved them a world of pain. Carly says, Jax devested Nina, and Diane says, that’s her point. Will Jax think Carly is more deserving of his protection than Nina is?

Jax tells Alexis that Nina was searching for her daughter, when he and Carly found out Nelle was Nina’s daughter. They chose not to tell her, but the truth came out. Alexis says, it inevitably does, and he says Nina felt betrayed. She’d misinterpreted his conversation with Carly, and went to the authorities. Her statement was given to the FBI. Alexis says, about? and Jax says, the night Nelle died. She says he knows attorney/client privilege is no longer a thing for her, and he says he’ll just say, certain facts were simplified to protect certain people. She says, in other words, Carly. Don’t tell her. He says he can confirm Nelle’s death was an accident; their original statement was simplified. That’s why they were… She says she’s not able to give him advice, and he says he understands. She says, simplifying can make him sound like the biggest criminal. Why further incriminate himself? Just her two cents. He says he appreciates it, but she says he seems to have reservations. He says he was wondering what’s the best thing for Nina.

Nina tells Maxie, she talked herself into believing that once Jax realized he was keeping Wiley from her, he would tell her the truth. She was looking for him to salvage… something. When she found him, he was with Carly, and they were talking about Nelle’s death on the cliff. Carly was there, and when Nelle fell, Jax encouraged Carly to keep quiet. Maxie says, Jax told Carly to lie, not the other way around? and Nina says, she had no intention of confronting him. She wanted to go someplace private, but of course (🍷) Carly needed Jax. Maxie tells her, don’t get mad, but they were at Carly’s husband’s funeral. Nina says she should have heard Carly. She thinks Carly was happy that she made a scene, so Carly would have an outlet for her anger. She knows it wasn’t the right place or time, but she swears everything she said was true.

Obrecht asks what sparrow Britt is speaking of, and Britt says, herself. Anna isn’t the only one deserving of a code name. Obrecht asks, what code name? and Britt says, scarecrow. Obrecht says, that’s not a code name. It’s an epithet of scorn and derision. Britt says the scarecrow confronted her, demanding to know where Obrecht was, and Obrecht says, Britt said nothing? Britt says, of course (🍷) the sparrow remained silent, but the scarecrow revealed more than she intended. She was trying to determine Obrecht’s whereabouts, by asking questions of the WSB. Obrecht asks what the WSB told Anna, and Britt says Anna thought they were stonewalling her, but that’s just her amateur suspicion. Obrecht says, no doubt Anna isn’t used to being kept in the dark, and Britt says Anna warned Peter that Obrecht was on the loose. Anna didn’t say that to her, but if she hasn’t told him, it’s only a matter of time. Obrecht says, perhaps it’s what she does with the time that matters.

Valentin tells Anna, before he says anything, he’ll give her a choice. She can drop this, and let her questions about Peter lie, believe he’s the man she wants him to be… Anna says, or the truth. Why does he want her to know? Is he somehow incriminated? He says, for once, Peter’s actions have nothing to do with him, other than being the man who started Peter on this path. Anna says Valentin did what he did, but didn’t make peter the man he is today. Neither did Faison, Alex or her; he’s his own person. He says she wants to believe Peter is someone else, someone better, and she says Valentin knew Peter was lying to her all along, didn’t he?

Britt says she doesn’t get why Obrecht is being under the radar, unless it’s to wear that get-up; it’s fabulous. Obrecht preens, and says, danke. Britt says, Obrecht was cleared of all charges and released. It’s not as exciting as prison, but it’s less stressful. Obrecht says she’s not avoiding law enforcement; it’s for the element of surprise, so she can trap and unmask Henrik. Britt asks, how? She hasn’t been able to prove anything. Obrecht says, no one that dirty can cover up everything. The proof is out there. Britt says, Obrecht wants revenge, and Obrecht says, of course (🍷), but she wants to protect Maxie and James even more. She swore on Nathan’s grave that she would. Britt says she’s not the only one swearing on Nathan’s grave. She was there the other day and ran into Peter, who was making a few promises himself.

Finn goes to Maxie and Peter’s apartment, and asks if Peter is ready to do this. Peter says, bring it on, and Finn hands him a garment bag. Magically, they’re dressed in black tie, and Peter says, too much? Finn says, maybe, but he looks good. Peter says, look at them, ready to tie the knot, and Finn says, it’s amazing what the love of a good woman will do.   

Jax tells Alexis, Nina’s pain had unintended side effects. He had to take steps to protect Carly and Josslyn. She says, if he takes Nina’s side, it will give credence to her claim, and asks if there’s any hard evidence. He says, no, and she asks if there were any witnesses. He says, no, and she asks how Nina would benefit by him not sticking to his story. He says, Nina would know he’s on her side.

Nina tells Maxie that she was getting angrier, and lost her composure. She could feel the stares, followed by the cringes. Maxie says, as someone who can share in public cringe-worthiness, solidarity, sister. Nina says she hears that. They were thinking, there’s crazy Nina, having a breakdown again. They should have focused on what Jax and Carly did. That’s why she went to the Commissioner, and told her everything they did. Maxie says, she turned them in? and Nina says, someone has to hold Carly responsible for killing her daughter.

Michael tells Willow, Nelle’s death was an accident. His mother didn’t cause her fall, but But Nina went to the FBI (actually, she didn’t, Jordan did, but I’ll let it pass), and told them a crime was committed. Now they want to interview his mother. Willow says, Nina went for the worst possible course of action, lashing out at Wiley’s other grandmother. Willow tells him, her relationship with Nina has been rocky at best, but then Nina testified at Wiley’s custody hearing. He says, a game changer, and she says, Nina showed up out of compassion for their child. Everything Nina did for Wiley happened before she knew Wiley was her grandson. She may be acting badly now, but people do awful things when they’re grieving. Maybe it will help Nina and Wiley to let them know each other.

Maxie asks if Nina is trying to get the case reopened, and Nina says, damn right. Maxie says that she gets that Nelle is Nina’s daughter, but she was also a raging psychopath. She made Michael and Carly’s lives hell for years. Nina says she’s not excusing Nelle’s litany of crimes, but she was also a person. As her mother, shouldn’t she want to know how Nelle died? Maxie says, of course (🍷), but the question Nina should be asking, is how Nelle became the person she was. Nina says she already knows the answer. Her mother gave Nelle away, and she was raised without any love by a man – Nina starts to cry – who literally sold her for parts. She sits at her desk, crying, and Maxie sits opposite her. She says she can’t imagine what Nina is feeling now, knowing what Nelle went through, and that there was nothing she could do to stop it, but lots of people live difficult lives and experience terrible abuse and hardships, and they still manage to be good people. There came a point where Nelle stopped being a victim of circumstance, and decided to hurt people. Nina wonders if Maxie is saying she should drop it; cut Jax and Carly out of her life. Maxie tells Nina, that’s not for her to say, but she thinks Nina should ask herself, if she was Carly, and saw Nelle go over the cliff, would her first thought be to help her? Or would she be thinking, is Nelle going pull her over the edge if she tries?

Carly whines to Diane that the Feds are going to look for any inconsistency that leads to obstruction of justice just because she’s Sonny’s wife… Sonny’s widow. Diane says, Sonny left behind an allegedly successful enterprise, that’s at present unprotected. Any prosecutor could use the case to uncover it. Carly says, there is no case to make. She’s sticking to her statement.

Alexis asks Jax if he wants some hard earned life advice, and he tells her, go ahead. She says, throwing yourself under the bus because you want to prove you care is not all it’s cracked up to be. He thanks her, and says he should get going; he’s already late. She says, the Feds don’t like to be kept waiting. Does he know what he’s going to do? He says he thinks so.

Obrecht says, Henrik visiting the sacred ground her Nathan is buried in is abhorrent. She hopes Britt spat on him. Britt says she did one better. She talked about how good and decent Nathan was, and how that’s what Maxie loved about him. Obrecht says, it’s moments like these that make her proud, and asks how he responded. Britt says, it bugged him, but he never veered the whole time, giving his I am not my father’s son mantra. Obrecht says, let him believe that, and Britt asks if she ever thinks Peter will follow in their father’s footsteps. Obrecht says, he’s a liar and a murderer, but he’s no Caesar. Britt says, maybe he doesn’t need to be. Maybe he just needs to be a good enough bad guy that even Obrecht won’t catch him. What then?

Valentin says he told Peter that Obrecht had been released, and was probably heading for him, and Anna says, and he admitted to framing her? Valentin says, he did, and arranged the hit on Franco. She wonders why he’d arrange a hit just to abort it, and Valentin says, a fit of conscience, a change in strategy. She asks why he’d order a hit on Franco in the first place, and Valentin says, Franco was having a procedure to reverse the one that had given him Drew’s memories. A possible outcome might have been the memories becoming more intense and vivid. She says, Drew knew something that Peter didn’t want to be common knowledge, and he says, Peter is good at making people disappear who get too close to the truth. She says, he tried with Andre, and Valentin says, he arranged the attack on Andre. That means… She says, he arranged for Drew’s plane to go down.

Nina tells Maxie that Jax and Carly repeatedly lied to the authorities. She’s not wrong to want them to face the consequences. Maxie says she gets that, but she doesn’t know that sending them to prison will give Nina the peace she needs. Only Nina knows that. Nina says Maxie is right. She’s been so focused on making sure they were punished, she wasn’t thinking about Josslyn or Donna. She doesn’t want another child deprived of their parent. Maxie says, there’s one child she hasn’t talked about, who’s waiting for the avalanche of love Nina has stored up. Nina says, Wiley, and Maxie says, don’t tell her that she hasn’t thought about it. Nina says, it’s all she can think about. She’s going to spend time getting to know him. Maxie says if Nina keeps the focus on Wiley and the world she wants with him, she knows Nina will get it. Nina says Maxie is a good friend, and Maxie says, not friend – family. She made a promise with Nina and Britt over Nathan’s grave; together, no matter what. No matter what, she has Nina’s back. Now, she has a hot date with her groom-to-be.    

Obrecht tells Britt, Henrik is weak. He believes he’s worthy of having the scarecrow as a mother, and worthy to take Nathan’s place. He’s desperate to maintain that belief, but he forgot, sooner or later, he’s going to crack. Britt says, all she’s hearing is posturing. Tell her that there’s an actual plan. The wedding is almost on top of them. Obrecht says Britt is right. The operation is moving too slowly. It’s time to confront the beast in its lair.

Finn tells Peter, it probably sounds incredibly corny, but being in love with Anna and being loved by her changed his life in a way he never thought possible. Peter says he never had a maternal presence in his life, and now… Finn asks if he remembers the time without it, and Peter says, quite well, too well. It’s a life he never wants to go back to. Since they’re being corny – Finn says, fire away – sometimes he thinks if there weren’t a mother in his life, he wouldn’t have changed course. He was headed down a dark road, and he’s grateful to put it behind him. Marrying Maxie, and bringing their daughter into the world is the final step in closing the door on the life he had before he met Anna.

Michael tells Willow, someone is making a strong argument for more stories, and she asks if it’s any story in particular, or should they make up a new one? What does daddy think? He says he thinks nothing makes him happier than seeing her with Wiley, and she says she’s pretty sure she knows someone else who would like to see him. He says he knows Nina deserves to see her grandson, but he doesn’t know if it’s the right time. She says, Wiley might fill the hole in Nina’s heart, and bridge the chasm between her and his mother, and he says, the little guy does have a way of bringing people together.

A man walks into the interrogation room, and says he’s Special Agent Wilson from the FBI. He’s there to follow up on some accusations by Nina Reeves regarding the death of Nelle Benson. Diane says they’re eager to cooperate, and he says, then he’ll begin. Nina stated she overheard a conversation between Jasper Jax and Carly, where Carly stated she was present when Nelle fell to her death. Is that true? Diane says, sorry. Is he asking if the statement is true, or if it’s true they had this alleged discussion? Is it the discussion of the event, or the event itself? Wilson apologizes for being unclear, and asks if Carly stated she was present at the time Nelle fell. Carly tells him, she never said that, and he asks if she was present when Nelle fell. She says she stands by her original statement, and he says he’s sure her more than capable attorney advised her to answer yes or no questions with a yes or a no. So was she present when Nelle fell to her death? Carly says, no. He asks about what Nina heard, and Carly says Nina was mistaken about what they were discussing. He says, if they weren’t discussing the events surrounding Nelle’s death, what were they talking about? and Carly says she has no idea. They were laying her husband to rest, and outside of Nina’s outburst, the day was a blur. He says, tell him again what happened on the night in question, and Carly says, she caught up with Nelle in the clearing. They fought, Nelle took off, and she never saw Nelle again. He asks where Jax fits into the scenario, and she says, he showed up after she scuffled with Nelle. He asks if she has anything she’d like to add, and Carly says, no. He thanks her, and asks them to wait outside. Jax is in the squad room, and Wilson tells him, come on in. Carly looks panicked.

Finn sees Alexis at the Bistro, and she says, the groom to be. The day is fast approaching. He says, that it is, and she asks if he’s happy or dreading it; it’s hard to tell with him. Finn sits with her, and says he’s dreading the crowds, and socializing in general. He learned a secret though, Violet taught him that the fuss is really about everyone else. Violet is loving every minute of it, so he guesses he is happy. For him. How about her? She looks happier… happyish. She says she’s had three of these, indicating her coffee cup, and has one of these. She shows him her AA chip, and he says he’s proud of her. He asks if it’s okay to say that, and she says, yeah, but she’s not too proud. It’s her second one for 24 hours in less than a week. Finn looks at it, and says he is proud of her. He believes in her. He knows how hard it is to start day one. If she ever needs a friend, he’s there.

Obrecht tells Britt, there’s been a fortuitous turn of events. She pretended to be a potential advertiser, and inquired about Nina’s assistant Maxie. She found out Maxie has dinner plans with her fiancé tonight, presenting her with the prefect opportunity. Britt says, for what? and Obrecht says, to pay a visit to Maxie and Peter’s home. What a pity they won’t be there. She and Britt laugh.

Wilson asks Diane and her client to join him and Jax in the interrogation room.  

Valentin tells Anna. Peter has been working hard to cover up the true nature of his crimes, which brings them back to Franco. Anna says, Franco has been hearing Peter’s voice in his head, which is really Drew’s memory. Valentin says, Franco’s tumor retuned, so Peter blasted it all over the internet. Anna says, to discredit Franco, and Valentin says, in case he figured out what he was remembering. The only time Drew would have remembered Peter’s voice when he was connected to Shiloh and Cabot… was when they were in Afghanistan. Anna says, right, so Peter was really working with Faison and Helena all along. Valentin says, Peter may have told him months ago, but he didn’t say anything because Anna believed that was in the past, and Peter had been redeemed. He realized that redemption was a lie. She says, it was clear to everyone; to Robert and Jason, and Finn. She blinded herself to who Peter really is, and that makes her just as culpable for the harm he’s done.

Anna says she was thinking about something Alex said, after she shot her. She said the reason she gave Anna the memories of Peter was so she’d protect him, but she didn’t do that. Valentin says, nonsense. He’s the one who delivered Peter to his father. She says she doesn’t mean that; it’s not the entire reason. Cabot’s memory transfer caused her to believe Peter was her son; hers to rescue and raise the same way she did Robin, but she didn’t. She decided she preferred to carry the guilt, and turned her back on him, and that was the reason Alex hated her so much. He says, take it from a man who has to make up for damage that he’s done; Peter’s life ain’t on her. They sit, and Anna takes his hand. She says, okay. Peter’s done what he’s done. The question now is, what do they do about that? He says, take their heads out of the sand; ask the tough questions. Anna says, what’s the point of protecting Peter when he’s putting those they most love at risk? We see she has tears in her eyes.   

Finn hands Alexis’s chip back to her, and she says, say something. He says, maybe, but don’t argue. She says, he doesn’t want to argue? and he says, okay. She’s one of the most brilliant, capable, and kind people he’s ever met. She says he always has her back, and he says he always will. He wants her to treat herself the way she treats other people. Back the hell off, and leave his friend alone. She deserves better. He says he wants her to do what it takes, lean on who she needs to lean on. Crawl, scream, do what she has to in order to get through, but get through. She deserves better.  

Peter’s phone rings, and he says, Anna. If she’s looking for Finn, he just left. She says she was hoping to talk to him. Can he come by the house? He says, sure. He’s about to meet Maxie, but if it’s important… She says, it is. It’s important that they talk.

Maxie sees Britt at the club, and Britt says, fancy meting her there. This place is great. They have an impressive selection of mocktails. Does Maxie want to sit and have a baby-friendly drink? Maxie says, sure, before Peter gets here. It’s their last date night. Britt says she can’t wait, and Maxie says she’s been thinking about Britt. She was just talking to Nina. Her sister Georgie is gone, and Lulu is out of commission. She and Nina were remembering when they made that promise in Nathan’s memory, and it’s good to know that she has sisters looking out for her again.

Obrecht breaks into Maxie and Peter’s apartment. We see the envelope from D. Marick on the table with the mail.  

Wilson says he wants to speak to both Carly and Jax. In the absence of hard evidence, and no witnesses, they have no reason to pursue the case. The case will remain closed. He thanks them for their cooperation, and Diane thanks him. She asks if he’d like to go brief the Commissioner together, and they leave. Carly says, thank God it’s over, and Jax says, the legal part. Nina isn’t happy. Carly says she doesn’t care, and she doesn’t feel bad. Jax says she has every right to be angry and upset, but he’s just saying, there’s going to be fallout.

There’s a knock at Nina’s office door. Willow and Michael come in with Wiley, and Michael says they were wondering if Nina was up for a visit. Wiley waves at her in all his cuteness. 

Tomorrow, Olivia tells Alexis that she has five minutes, Anna thinks it’s time she and Peter face the truth, and Carly tells someone if they don’t play their cards right, it will be their last.

🤹‍♀️ A couple of random things. While I didn’t see The Real Housewives of Dallas, I did catch some of Marge and Delores (RHONJ) watching it. The highlight was a drunk shopping trip, where the women thought a charcuterie board was for spanking. Good thing they bought it, since they’d tested it out. Repeatedly. Ricki Lake and John Waters were virtual guests on Watch What Happens Live, and told a ton of good stories. They also pulled out some souvenirs from their Hairspray days, which proved one way being remote is good. People can run into the other room and find stuff to show us.

I missed the beginning, but here’s what happened. Port Charles is on a different calendar, so it was Valentine’s Day there. Cameron serenaded himself on his guitar, when there was a knock at the door. He approached the door, wielding his guitar like a weapon. Chase went to the Quartermaine mansion to pick Willow up, since she was there putting Wiley to bed, and he had an awkward moment with Michael. It got even more awkward when Sasha came by for her date with Michael. Then the awkwardness tripled when they found out both couples had reservations at the Port Charles Grill (the mysterious replacement for The Floating Rib). Portia went with Curtis to the nightclub to help him with his case. Molly and Kristina went to an office, where Molly said she was ready to make a commitment, and TJ was on his way. Franco and Elizabeth were also at the Port Charles Grill, where they overheard another couple talking about them. The couple talked about being afraid of Franco, and left. Franco said he didn’t feel well, when Nikolas and Ava also arrived, and Franco and Elizabeth told them what happened. Franco excused himself, and Elizabeth told Ava and Nikolas about Franco getting treatment. Jordan showed up at the hospital to question Brando, who had a bandaged leg, and Jason came in just as she was asking Brando what happened. At the hospital, Britt was impressed that TJ had stayed late on Valentine’s Day, and TJ told her that he hadn’t been on the schedule, and he had a big night planned. That’s when I sat down, and…

Michael says he figured Chase and Willow were going to the MetroCourt, so he made reservations at the Port Charles Grill. Chase says he can call and change his reservations, but Michael says it’s hard enough to get one. He’ll call Olivia. He’s sure she can get them a table at the MetroCourt. Chase says, let him know if it doesn’t work out, but Michael says, it will. Chase says, cool, and Willow says, happy Valentine’s Day… to all of them. After Chase and Willow leave, Sasha asks if she can tell Michael how much she hated that. Not because everyone wasn’t perfectly nice… Michael says, but because everyone was perfectly nice. She says, it reminded her of how things used to be, and he says, him too. While he disputes the tactics used, what they did, they did for Wiley’s sake, and he’ll never regret it. She says, neither will she, and he says, there are consequences when you give certain things up. Some things, you can’t get back. He’s afraid the friendship between the four of them is one of them.

Trina tells Cameron, it’s just them; open up. He opens the door to Trina and Josslyn, and Trina asks what he was going to do. Sing them to death? Cameron says, ha-ha, and Josslyn says he’s taking protecting his family seriously. Cameron says they should know how many threats the family has gotten since the article came out. Josslyn says, it’s the worst; notorious family members on the front page. Then you have to worry about vigilantes. She says she thought celebrating together might take their minds off everything, and Trina produces a heart-shaped box of candy. Josslyn says, happy Valentine’s Day, bringing out more candy.

Ava asks how Franco is doing, and Elizabeth says, he’s having radiation treatments. Nikolas says, that’s good, isn’t it? and Elizabeth says they’re doing everything, and praying it’s enough. Franco comes back, and Elizabeth congratulates Ava and Nikolas on their engagement. Ava says Franco is the one who convinced her to go all in with Nikolas, and Elizabeth says she and Franco are celebrating their second anniversary. Franco says, not everyone gets married in a jail cell. He runs his hand through his hair, and realizes it’s falling out.

Britt tells TJ that he’s off the clock, and asks how he and Molly are doing. He says they’re still going strong; it’s a big night for them. Britt tells him, then get out, and he heads for the elevator. He asks, what about her? and she says, her heart belongs to GH. He tells her that she’s changed a lot since her first go around there, and Britt says, bye. The elevator door closes, and she says she doesn’t know about that. She still has a few tricks up her sleeve. She goes into one the rooms, and says, sorry to keep them waiting. There’s no one she’d rather be with tonight. She takes off her lab coat, and poses seductively, and we see Brad in the bed.

Jason tells Jordan, he was just checking on Brando, and she says, how convenient. Brando was just about to tell her what happened. Jason says, don’t let him interrupt, and Jordan tells Brando, go on. Brando says he was about to meet Cyrus, when he heard a shot, and felt an incredible pain in his leg that took him down. Jordan says, and the person who shot him? Brando says he never saw them. He only heard them running away. She says, so he has nothing that can ID the person who shot him? and he says, no. She asks if that’s all he’s going to give her, and Brando says, that’s all he’s got. She asks if Jason has anything to add.

Cameron thanks Josslyn and Trina for coming, and says he can’t help feeling bad. Josslyn asks, why? and he says, aren’t they supposed to be at the dance? Trina says, without him? and Josslyn says, insane. Cameron tells them, he remembers last year at this time, and Josslyn says she knows the year was rough for all of them. She wants them to know she couldn’t have gotten through it without them. Trina says, her neither, and Cameron says, same. Trina looks at the Valentine’s Day banner hanging over the fireplace, and says, it’s falling down. Cameron says, that’s what happens when Jake insists on doing it by himself. He wonders where the tape is.   

Elizabeth tells Franco, Terry said the treatments were working so well, she upped the dosage. He says, if horrible is what she intended, it’s working well. He didn’t think they’d be testing the in sickness or in health so soon, and she says, it’s not a test. It’s life, and they’re going to live a long and happy one.

Britt and Brad put together Valentine’s Day goodie bags, and Brad tells Britt, this may be a new low; making Valentine’s for other people, when he’s received none of his own. Britt says, they’re sick kids, and it’s to make them feel better, so stop moping. She busted him out to have fun, not sit and cry about how lonely he is. He asks how she made it happen, and she says she told the warden that Brad needed a follow-up to insure the proper healing of the stab wound he sustained in the warden’s jail, and on his time. Brad says he guesses she wanted to see him because she needed help, and she says, of course (🍷) she wanted to see him. It’s only the most depressing day of the year, but if he’d rather be in jail, she’ll gladly alert the warden’s office. He says, this is exactly where he wants to be, and thanks her for making it happen. She says, he’s welcome, and he says he has one question. Does Lucas know he’s there?

Felix and Lucas are at the reception desk, when TJ comes by. Felix says, someone has big plans, and Lucas says, don’t let them keep him. Have fun. TJ says he plans to. Ciao. He leaves, and Lucas says, ah, to be young and in love. Felix says Lucas is still sort of young. What are his plans? Lucas says, nothing, and Felix says, he could change that. Does Lucas want to go for a drink after work?

Portia asks Curtis what they’re doing there again, and he says his client believes his wife is cheating with the owner. She asks, who’s the wife? and he says, 11 o’clock. She says, what about the owner? and he says he hasn’t seen the owner yet today. Portia says, let her know when he sees him, and he says, will do. He stares at her, and she says, what? He says, look at her, having a good time, and she says she loves her life; her job, her daughter. But every day she moves from chaos of GH, and dealing with patients, hopefully saving lives, to home, where she deals with Trina, who, as he knows, is dealing with an extremely difficult situation with her father. It’s a difficult place to be in. Curtis said he was over the P.I. stuff, but it’s like a little vacation for her. He says, well, all right, and they clink glasses.

Jason tells Jordan, he has nothing to add, and Jordan says, shocking. She doesn’t know why she bothers to ask any more. The ballistics report shows that Brando was shot at close range. He claims he didn’t see who did it, but does he have some idea of who might be motivated to do this? Who is he protecting? Cyrus or Sonny’s organization?   

Molly tells Kristina, TJ is done with work and on his way over, and Kristina asks if she’s nervous. Molly says, no. She’s excited, happy, and most of all, at peace. Kristina says it’s the perfect way to feel before a commitment, and Molly asks if she thinks Sam and their mom will be upset when they find out she and TJ did this without them. Kristina says she thinks when Molly explains why, they’ll understand. Molly says, as much as they love their families, and want a big celebration, doing it this way feels right. Kristina says, intimate and simple; she gets it. Molly says, no big fanfare. Just the two of them starting their lives together. The clerk comes out, and says, not if she has anything to say about it.

Curtis tells Portia, there he is, and she says, the owner? Where? He says, 2 o’clock, and she looks over. She asks why he didn’t say, at the bar? and he says, it sounded more P.I. She says, it kind of does, actually. She looks over again at the couple, and says, wow. He can’t keep his eyes off of her. Has his client asked her if she was cheating? Curtis says, she denies it, but his client is positive she’s lying. Portia says, that’s usually the way it goes. Maybe they’re friends, and just enjoy working together. She sees the woman run her hands over the owner’s chest, and says, maybe not. Curtis tells her, say cheese, and he takes her picture, with the couple in the background.   

Jordan says, Brando is Cyrus’s driver, or whatever his job title is, and Brando says, so? She asks if he did something to make Cyrus angry, or Jason, but he says he doesn’t have an issue with either of them. He told her that he doesn’t know who did it, and she says, whoever it was, didn’t want him dead, or he would be. Maybe it was a warning. Brando says, maybe it was random, and Jason says, maybe it was a gift. We all go 😮 since Jason said something other than he’s not talking without his attorney.    

The clerk tells Molly and Kristina, see what time it is? She’s about to close. Molly says, she can’t, and she says she most certainly can, and she won’t feel bad. Molly says her fiancé just texted. He’ll be there any minute. He’s in med school. Can’t she make an exception? The clerk says she has 20 minutes. If Prince Charming isn’t here by then, buh-bye. Molly says, come on, TJ, and wonders, where is he? 

On the phone, TJ tells someone, 400 milligrams, and gives instructions about a patient. A man comes up to him, and thanks him, saying he and Britt were so kind in caring for his wife. TJ says he’s glad she’s feeling better, and the man says they’re married 48 years today; they got married on Valentine’s Day. TJ tells him, congratulations, and the man says he hopes TJ finds that kind of love with someone special. TJ says he already has.

Lucas says, it’s cool of Felix to ask him out, but he’s not ready. Felix tells him, who said anything about asking him out? and Lucas says, Felix did. It’s not like they haven’t been here before. Felix says he thought they could have a drink as friends. They can ignore Valentine’s Day together, and not talk about their exes. Lucas says, sounds enticing.

Britt tells Brad that she hasn’t seen much of Lucas, and he asks if Lucas is working tonight. She says she’s not sure, and he says, she made the schedule. She tells him, let it go, please. He says he knows he doesn’t make her nervous, so why is her hand shaking?

Sitting at a table, Nikolas says he and Ava have come a long way, and she says, not exactly in a straight line, but she likes where they landed. He says, him too, and she wonders if it’s possible they actually found happiness. He says, not only is it possible, it’s happening. Welcome to the rest of her life. They clink glasses, and Ava says, it’s good. He says, the best, and a waiter comes over with a heart-shaped box for Ava.

Chase tells Willow that she looks beautiful, and she thanks him. He says he wanted to tell her at the Quartermaine’s, but it seemed… She says, awkward? She tells him that he looks nice too, and he asks if they should get a bottle of wine. She says, definitely, and he looks at the wine menu. She asks if they have a specific one, and he says he’s never heard of it. He wonders if she’s been hanging out with the wine guy, and she says she has, but not their wine guy. Michael had a tutor come to the house, and her head was spinning with regions and vintages. He says, sounds cool, and she says, it was. He orders the wine.  

Michael tells Sasha that Olivia squeezed them in at the MetroCourt, and Sasha says she’s surprised Michael asked her out tonight. He says, they had to start somewhere, so why not one of most fraught days of the year? He wants them to get to know one another again. No expectations. Just see where the night takes them. Does it sound good? She says, sounds good, and he tells her, if he hasn’t said it already, she looks absolutely beautiful. She says he hasn’t, and thank you. As they’re leaving, his phone rings. He says it’s his mom, and she tells him, take it. He answers, and says, is he okay?… Wait. What?   

Curtis tells Portia that he got some good shots. They put on quite a a show; they weren’t even trying to be discreet. She says, now he has to tell his client? and he says, it’s part of the job, and not the fun part. He shows her the pictures, and she says, not the butt grab. They’re not fooling around. He says, neither is he.    

Jason tells Jordan, the longer Brando is out of commission, he can’t do Cyrus’s bidding. Brando says, but he has to work, and Jordan says she thinks there’s more to this than they’re admitting. She’s telling them, she will figure it out. She leaves, and Brando asks why the hell Jason shot him. 

Kristina tells Molly, don’t worry about the clerk. She’ll take care of her. Molly asks, how? and Kristina says, what part of don’t worry doesn’t she get? Sit back, and go to her peaceful place. They sit down, and Molly asks if Kristina was surprised, and Kristina says, a little that they picked Valentine’s Day to become partners. Molly says, cliché? and Kristina says, traditional. It’s anything but them. Molly says they did it to give the day more meaning than greeting cards and chocolates. This is what it’s supposed to be about; true love. Kristina says her little sister was always a romantic. The clerk says their 20 minutes are up. It’s closing time. Clear out.

TJ looks at his phone, and says, this isn’t happening. Not one Ride Share. He decides to look for another app, when Jordan approaches him. She asks if everything is all right.

Ava wonders what could be in the box. She already has two beautiful rings, so she’s sure it’s not that. Is it a necklace, or perhaps earrings? She asks Nikolas, what is it? and he says, open it and find out.

Franco pushes his plate away, and Elizabeth says, he can’t eat again? He says, it’s okay; he’ll watch her eat. She says they’re going home. She’s not taking no for an answer. He says, thank God, and they leave.

Cameron can’t find the tape, and thinks Jake must have taken it upstairs, but says he has some in his bag. He bought a calendar to count off the days until graduation. Trina says, the days until they’re college bound, and Josslyn starts to dig in Cameron’s bag. He tells her, wait, and she takes out a paper. She asks if it’s for him. It’s an acceptance letter to Stanford University.

Josslyn says, Cameron got in? She didn’t even know he was looking at Stanford. He says he applied for early acceptance, and Josslyn says, amazing. Trina says, congratulations; she’s proud of him. Josslyn says, it’s dated over a month ago. Why didn’t he tell them? He says he doesn’t know if he wants to go, and Trina says, he doesn’t know? He says, it’s an amazing school, with an incredible soccer team, and Josslyn says, he’s an incredible player. He says, there, but what if he sucks at college? Trina says, what if they all go to college, and totally tank? Should they stay home, or worse, be scared? Cameron says he’s not scared, and Josslyn says she gets him not wanting to be away from his family. He says, that’s part of it, but it’s also them. It doesn’t feel done yet. Trina says, what? and he says, this. High school. He doesn’t know if he can be apart from them. Trina says, it does feel like everything is changing, and Josslyn says she gets that, but whether they go or stay, life will change anyway. That’s just the way it is.

Brando says he’s the one in the hospital bed; Jason at least owes him an explanation. Jason says, Cyrus was threatening Brando, and Brando was stuck, so he took Brando out of commission. Brando says, okay, Jason did him a favor, but he could have given him a heads up. Jason says, and risk having him flinch? This was the easiest way. Brando asks if Jason knows how much it hurts to take a bullet (I think he probably does), when there’s a knock at the door. Michael and Sasha come in, and Michael says his mom told him what happened. Sasha asks if Brando is okay, and Brando says, nothing a little rest won’t fix. She asks if he’s sure, and he says he’s fine. What are they doing there? Sasha says he saved her life; the least she could do was check on him. Michael says his mom was a little light with the details. Does Brando know who did it? Jason says he’ll let Brando fill them in, and leaves. Sasha asks, what happened? Does he know who shot him?

Chase tells Willow that he noticed work being done on the gatehouse. She says, a little, and he asks if it was in bad shape. She says she mentioned in passing that the kitchen could use an island or more counter space; nothing urgent. Michael did a full gutting and renovation, not just of the kitchen, but the whole house. It’s hilarious how he’s been spying on her. She points out something she likes, like a chair, and it shows up at the gatehouse. She apologizes, and says she doesn’t mean to be talking so much about Michael. Chase says she lives on the property, and she and Michael are raising a kid together. Michael is part of her life. She asks how his life is. How is he? He says, right here in this moment, pretty damn great.

Ava opens the box, and looks in. Nikolas asks, what’s wrong? and she looks at him.

Britt takes her hand away from Brad, and says she’s fine. Being Chief of Staff is a lot of pressure. He says, it’s Cyrus, isn’t it? She went to the trouble of breaking him out of prison; talk to him. She says, the less he knows, the better. She doesn’t want Cyrus going after him again, and he needs to be in the hospital. She says she should deliver the bags, and he asks if he can help. She says, great idea. Walking around GH when he’s not supposed to be there. He says, so it’s a no? and she says, a hell no. She tells him, keep a low profile. She’ll be back. Outside, she drops some of the bags, and while she’s picking them up, Jason comes by. He asks if she needs some help. I think, nooo. Are they going to get together?

Michael says, Brando never saw who shot him? and Brando says, whoever it was hit nothing major. He says they must have better plans than this on Valentine’s Day, and asks Sasha how recovery is. She tells him, as they say, one day at a time, and he says, nothing wrong with slow and steady. He’s sure they must have reservations somewhere, and tells them, go. Have a good time. He needs the rest anyway. Sasha says, okay, but she’ll be back. He says he’ll be there, and they leave. In the hallway, Michael’s phone dings, and he says, change of plans.

Willow says, it’s so great that Finn and Chase’s dad are getting along. Chase says he never thought it would happen. He feels hopeful that they’re finally becoming a family. She says, it just goes to show, damage can be repaired, bridges can be rebuilt… Chase says, and relationships can be regrown. It’s happening for his dad and Finn, and he hopes it happens with them.

Brad hears Lucas and Felix talking in the hallway, and peeks out through the blinds. Lucas tells Felix, let’s go grab that drink, and Felix says he knows a new place. Brad turns away.

Ava looks at a large bug in a display dome, and Nikolas says he got her something, but not that. What is that, a roach? She says she hates roaches, and he wonders if anyone likes them. (Maybe an entomologist?)  She says she doesn’t understand. Who would do this? Nikolas says they’ll find out.

Curtis tells Portia that he’s so used to going on missions solo; it feels good to have a partner again. She says, if he needs an assist, hit her up, and he says he might take her up on it. His job there is done, and he asks if she’s ready to get out. She says, um… and he says, look at her. She wants to stay. Portia says, maybe one more song, and Curtis says he’s there for it. One more song.

Jordan tells TJ that she knows he’s still mad. She made a mess with him and Molly, and she’s so sorry. He doesn’t have to be ready to forgive her, but if there’s anything she can do to help… He says his car won’t start, and he’s a half-hour late. Jordan says, it will be impossible to get a car, and he says, yeah. Would she give him a ride? She says, of course (🍷). She’ll even use the siren.

Molly tells the clerk, please. She bets he’s parking right now. She’ll go get him. She leaves, and Kristina says, look. Her sister really needs this night to happen. The clerk says, they all have needs, and Kristina says, maybe the clerk has plans, or maybe she’s tired and wants to get home. She gets it, but she wants her sister to be happy, so will this help? Kristina slides a few fifties across the counter to the clerk.

Josslyn tells Cameron, they’ll see each other all the time, and when they can’t, they’ll stay in touch. He asks if they think he should go, and Trina says, if he wants to. Josslyn says she heard there’s some awesome surfing in California. When she visits, she’ll teach him a thing or two. Elizabeth and Franco come in, and Cameron says they’re home early. Elizabeth says, Franco’s not feeling great, and Franco shows Cameron some hair in his hand. He says he’s going for Jeff Bezos, and asks Cameron’s opinion? 

Britt tells Jason, she’s got this, but since he’s intent on giving her a hand, does he want to help her deliver them before the kids are asleep? Or is he too badass to spread a little love? Jason. Almost. Smiles.

Tomorrow, Curtis doesn’t want to, Ava hopes the next present is from Nikolas, Elizabeth tells Franco that it’s just the beginning, Molly asks TJ if he’s ready, and Cameron says he has to do this.

🚙 Getting On the Exit Ramp…

It’s that time again. Time to wrap up the week, or cross another day off the calendar as you mindlessly eat another bag of your chips of choice. But the world is opening up more, so step away from the chips, and do something different. Get out of the house, and give the outside winter wonderland a try. Unless you’re in the middle of a blackout, in which case, you’re not reading this anyway. Until we reunite on Deck, stay safe, stay appreciative of what you have, and stay knowing that, no matter what you do, life will change anyway. That’s just the way it is.

Michael looks at the funeral program, and walks into the church. He looks at all the flowers, and Sonny’s picture. Willow takes his hand. Josslyn and Trina come in next, and Josslyn hugs Michael. He asks how she’s doing, and she says, Sonny was his father; how’s he doing? He says he’s glad everyone’s come together to honor Sonny, and she says, that’s an evasion. How is he really?  He says, it feels like a bad dream, and yet, very real. She asks, where’s mom?

Carly tells Jax, she’s not going to think about Nelle, or that night on the cliff. Nelle is dead, and that night can die with her. Nina listens from outside the door, and Jax says, he never wants to think about Nelle again, but it’s not that simple. He hates keeping things from Nina. Carly says, it’s too late to rethink things, and he says he understands that. No one can ever know Carly was there the night Nelle went off the cliff. Carly says she still has nightmares about that night; Nelle calling out for help, seeing her hanging on for dear life. She really wanted to help, but she thought it was a trick. When she realized it wasn’t, and reached out to help her, Nelle just couldn’t hold on. Nina looks horrified.

Alexis chugs her vodka nip, gets herself together, and turns around to see Molly in the doorway. Molly asks if something is wrong, but Alexis says she had trouble finding her phone. They can go now. Molly says she forgot her scarf, and Alexis finds it on the couch. Molly says, before they go, she knows how rough today is going to be for Alexis, and that Sonny’s death will make it that much harder for her not to drink. She’s grateful Alexis is hanging in there. Alexis takes the empty nip out of the cupboard, and hands it to Molly, saying, here you go. Sam and Kristina come in, wondering what’s taking so long. Molly says Alexis was just showing her a bottle she’d missed before, and Kristina asks if Molly caught her, but Molly says, she confessed. Kristina says, and she drank it? and Alexis says, yes. She made it through one day, right? Go ahead let her have it.

At the hospital, Laura tells Brando, she can’t believe his boss didn’t have the decency to let him attend his cousin’s funeral. Cyrus walks in, and says, is that right? What kind of a heartless bastard would do that?

Lenny tells Sonny that he has some errands to run, but won’t be long. Some of Phyllis’s chili is in the fridge, and Sonny can help himself, but just so he knows, she’s real proud of it, so don’t tell her how to improve it. Sonny thanks Lenny, and Lenny asks if Sonny is okay. He hopes Sonny isn’t still thinking about the run-in with Officer Finchley. It’s over; move on. Sonny says, it’s not that. He doesn’t let cops bother him. Lenny says, just today, or in general? He can see Sonny has something on his mind. Any chance he remembers something about who he is?

Dante tells Olivia, he doesn’t see Alexis there, and she says, not yet, but she’s sure Alexis will be there. He wonders if they’re gong to be avoiding her all day, and Olivia wonders why Dante is still defending her. Dante says she wasn’t aiming for him, and Olivia says, but Dante almost died to save Franco. She knows we’re all God’s creatures, but… He tells her not to make a big deal out of it. He saw someone who needed help, and jumped in. It just happened to be Franco. She says, her son, the saint. Sasha walks in, and goes over to Michael. He thanks her for being there. She tells him she’s so sorry about his father, and Willow says she’s going to see if there are any last minute details she can help with. She’s glad Sasha is there. She leaves, and Sasha asks Michael if her being there is really okay. He says, of course (🍷) it’s okay. They’re still friends, aren’t they?

Jax tells Carly, considering the horrible things Nelle has done, anyone would have been suspicious. It’s not her fault for hesitating. Anyone would have hesitated in her place. She says, he’s right. Just like he was right for her not to admit to the police that she was there on the cliff when Nelle fell. And that’s all she’s saying about it, because today is about Sonny, and finding a way to say goodbye. Jax says he’s there for her, whatever she needs, and they hug. They hear someone outside the door say, can I help you? Father Reyes comes in, and says he’s sorry to interrupt, but someone is looking for them.

Sam says, so Alexis drank it, and fessed up to Molly without her even asking, and Molly says, pretty much. Kristina says she’s not going to judge Alexis. She’s just going to say she hopes Alexis gets better. Molly says, her getting better is all any of them want, and Sam says, recovery isn’t a straight line. There are going to be bumps along the way. Alexis says she knows. Day one? Molly tells her, keep it simple. Aim for day two. Sam says they just want Alexis to know that they love her, they’re here for her, and they’re going to do this together. They want her happy and healthy, and around for a really long time. Alexis tries to smile, goes to the cupboard, and takes out two more unopened nips. She hands them over, saying, they can get rid of those too. They have a Davis group hug.

Dante says he keeps expecting Sonny to walk through the doors, and Michael says he knows. Every time someone walks through the doors, he expects it to be Sonny. It’s just that it’s so different not knowing for sure. Morgan’s service was the same way. Dante says he knows, and Michael says, they felt Grandpa Mike there, but obviously it wasn’t the same. Dante says he still regrets not being there for the service, and Michael says, Sonny told him how much Dante coming back meant to him. He was never happier than when all his kids were around.

Jason asks Carly if everything is okay, and she says she just wanted to go through the service with Father Reyes. He asks if she minds if he stays, and she says, no. She asks Father Reyes if it will take long, and he tells her, just a few minutes. He leaves to get his notes, and Jax says he should go; he’ll leave them to it. Jason closes the door behind Jax, and asks how Carly is holding up. She says, she doesn’t know if she can do this, but she will. He tells her that she’s not alone. Everybody who’s there is there for Sonny, but they’re there for her too. She says, just not the person she needs the most.

Sonny tells Lenny that he hasn’t remembered anything specific, except how to make sauce and handle a gun. Lenny says, and not to sweat the cops, and Sonny laughs. Lenny says, Officer Finchley might have given Sonny a hard time, but he’s a good guy. Sonny tells him, if he says so, and Lenny says he does, but the robberies have Finchley on edge, and they’ve caused him to be suspicious of Sonny. He’s sorry about that. Sonny says, Lenny was suspicious of him in the beginning, but now they’re sharing Phyllis’s best chili. That’s a step forward. Lenny says, huge, and tells Sonny that he has to go. He suggests Sonny put on some music. It will perk him up.

Nina goes to Nelle’s grave, and says, it’s me, your mother. She kneels down, and says she hates that they didn’t get time together as mother and daughter. It was such a cruel twist of fate, discovering Nelle was her child only after Nelle was dead. But as it turns out, it wasn’t fate that took Nelle from her; it was Carly.

Cyrus says, and here he’d thought that Laura acknowledged he has a heart. She asks if he’s talking about his little walk down Memory Lane the other day. All that proved was that he had a childhood, and she knew that already. The real measure of a man isn’t his distant past, but his present actions. Why would he keep Brando from attending his cousin’s funeral? He says, that was never his intent. All Brando had to do was ask. She says, like he wouldn’t see it as an act of disloyalty, and he asks if that’s the kind of game she thinks he plays with his employees. She says, not just him; men like him. He asks what kind of man that is, and she says, narcissist. He thought she was going to say gangster, didn’t he? He says, perish the thought – I smile, because these two are great verbal sparring partners – but thanks for reminding him about his colleague’s funeral, and his relationship to Brando. He says Brando is going to accompany him to All Saints Chapel, so they can pay their respects to the late, great Sonny Corinthos. She says, oh no. Hell no.

Michael asks how Carly is doing, and she says she knows having the funeral is the right thing. It sends a powerful message, and keeps them safe. That’s what’s getting her through this. That, and knowing how many people loved his dad.

Spinelli throws himself at Jason, hugging him, and says his most heartfelt condolences on this solemn day. Sonny did not suffer fools, and yet, he allowed Spinelli to bend his ear on many an occasion. Diane has come in too, and she laugh/cries at Spinelli’s words. Spinelli says, despite Sonny’s alleged occupation, he truly believes Sonny did more good in his life than harm. His passing leaves a void in the universe. Diane says, a lot can be said about the man. Despite choosing a profession that often required attorney/client privilege, and not always having the purest of motives, Sonny managed to touch people’s lives in a very positive way.

Nina says, Carly was there when Nelle fell; she knows that now. Carly could have saved her, but she didn’t. And Jax lied about it. Not just to the police; he lied to her. All his fancy talk about protecting her from the pain of losing a child, it was just to protect Carly. He would have let Nina spend her entire life not knowing Nelle was hers, just to make sure Carly was never punished for letting Nelle die.

Sonny polishes glasses as he listens to some oldies. There’s a knock at the door, and he turns around to see a woman in the doorway, her face obscured, but what we can see looks like Carly. He approaches, and he’s suddenly in a wooded garden. He asks where she went, and sees her back turned to him. He asks if she’s looking for him. She keeps walking, and he tells her, wait.

Laura says Cyrus is not going to Sonny’s funeral, but he says he wants to pay his respects. She says, no he doesn’t. He wants to rub it in Carly and Jason’s faces that Sonny is dead. He says, not at all, but if he did, could she blame him? Jason abducted his mother just to see him suffer. She tells him, stay away from that funeral, understand? For Sonny’s family. He says she means his wife. Carly and Jason are – excuse the expression – thick as thieves. He’s sure Carly knew about his mother’s abduction. She says, then for the rest of Sonny’s friends and family, and for his children. Of course (🍷) he must suspect all of them too. He says he took time out of his very busy schedule to attend the service. He supposes if there was something to occupy the gaping hole in his schedule, he could forego the funeral. She asks what he wants, and he says, have coffee with him. Let’s get to know each other. She says, so that’s the price for Sonny’s family to grieve in peace; that she misses the funeral, and has coffee with him instead. Brando looks amused, and Cyrus says, if it’s amenable to her. She says, it’s fine with her, and he says, excellent. He tells Brando, Laura is right. He shouldn’t miss the family gathering. Call Ruiz to fill in, and he can go. Brando thanks him.

Molly tells Alexis that she made some tea, and Alexis says, just what an alcoholic wants to hear on day one of recovery. Molly asks if she wants a different tea, but Alexis says, it’s fine. Molly is there with her, not babysitting her. They sit, and Molly asks, what’s her defense strategy? Molly knows Martin wants Alexis to plead diminished capacity. Alexis says, or temporary insanity, and Molly says, she doesn’t agree? Alexis says, it’s definitely the best defense, and what she’d recommend, and Molly asks, then what’s the problem? Alexis says, that she prided herself on being unbreakable, and here she is, broken. It’s a matter of public record, and truthfully, the only thing it makes her want to do, is drink more.

Sam tells Jason she’s so sorry, and hugs him. He says he’s really going to miss Sonny, and she says, they had a long history together. He tells her that he still can’t believe it. He asks if Molly and Alexis are there, but she says her mom was feeling sick, so Molly stayed with her. He says he’s glad she’s there, and she says she wanted to be there… for him.

Standing at the entrance, Brando tells Carly, he’s so sorry for her loss. He and Sonny didn’t know each other long, but Sonny taught him the lengths people will go to for family. Kristina says, he clearly didn’t learn much if he’s still working for Cyrus, and Carly tells her, Brando is her family too. She thanks Brando for his condolences, and says they’re all Sonny’s family, and they’re going to get through this together.

Jax asks how Josslyn is holding up, and she says she’s okay… she thinks. He thanks Trina for coming, and she says, that’s what best friends are for. He says, the ceremony is about to start, and they sit. Brando approaches Sasha, and she wonders if Cyrus is there. He says, he was threatening to come, but the mayor took care of it. Sasha says, thank God. She wondered if Brando would be there, and he says, he’s Sonny’s family, but she says she’s surprised Cyrus let him come. Unless he sent Brando as a spy. Brando is sure he’ll expect a recap, just out of curiosity. She says, of course (🍷). Why else? He asks if he can sit with her, and she nods.

Michael finds Carly outside, and says, it’s time. Is she ready? They go inside, and organ music plays. Father Reyes says, they’re here to celebrate the life of Michael Corinthos Jr., better known to all of them as Sonny.

Dante reads the 23rd Psalm (the Lord is my shepherd…), and we see everyone’s sad faces.

Still at the hospital, but with a to-go cup of coffee, Laura tells Cyrus, he has until she finishes her coffee, but she’ll sip it slowly. He wonders where to begin, and she says, at the beginning. She’ll let him know if he has to fast forward. He says he knows she killed a man, David Hamilton, when she was just a teenager, and she says, it was a horrible accident. David said some hurtful things to her, she lost her temper, she shoved him, he hit his head, and he died. She’s regretted it since that day. He says he understands. He and his father had just had a terrible fight. He got in the car, when his father stepped in front of him, and in his agitation, he stepped on the gas instead of the brake. Laura asks why he keeps telling her this. Why even bring it up? He tells her that he wants her to see things from his perspective. Would her life have been different if her family had thrown her out at 17, and turn their backs on her, the way his did to him?

At the pulpit, Kristina says her father was always there for her. She was terrified when she came out to him; he could be so Catholic. He gave her so much love and support, she wishes she could have trusted him to tell him sooner. She loves him. She’s not going to say goodbye.

Next up, Michael says, his dad taught him to face a tough situation head-on. Whenever he needed anything, his dad was always there. He cheered the loudest when Michael had an accomplishment, and when times were tough, was a shoulder to lean on. He’s going to miss that shoulder.

Nina says Nelle is so alone there, just like she was in life. It breaks Nina’s heart to know her daughter was struggling all by herself to find a way. Unlike Carly, who always has people tripping over themselves to make sure she gets what she wants. Carly wanted Nelle gone. Nelle came to her and asked for help, but instead of helping, she turned her back on Nelle, and believed Carly. But no more. She promises that she’ll get justice for Nelle. Whatever it takes.

Carly looks at Jason. He shakes his head, and she gets up. She thanks everyone for being there. Those of them who Sonny loved were truly blessed. Sonny loved big, intense, and loud. How do they say goodbye to a man like that? She knows she can’t. He’s always going to be with her in his children’s eyes, and smiles, and laughter. And he’s going to be in her heart forever, and in the memories of his friends and family. They won’t ever forget him. She looks at his picture near the flowers.

Sonny says, don’t go. He knows her, doesn’t he? She turns, but we still don’t see her face, and they’re suddenly hugging. He says he missed this. He missed her. He never wants this to end.

Lenny comes back to the Tan-O, and asks if Sonny is okay. Sonny yawns, and smiles.

Alexis tells Molly, she wants to get sober more than anything, but she doesn’t know how. She just wants to drink all the time, and it’s pathetic. Molly says Alexis is still the strongest person she knows, but strong doesn’t mean perfect. She stumbles, but so does everyone. Alexis says, she almost killed a man. Shouldn’t she pay for that? Molly asks, how? and Alexis says, maybe she should change her plea to guilty.

Laura asks what Cyrus wants her to say; that she would have made the same choices, or gone down the same path? He says, his mother threw him out; she refused to speak to him. What did Laura’s mother do when she found out Laura had killed the late, unlamented Mr. Hamilton? She says he knows what her mother did. She took the blame to protect Laura. He says, but she didn’t go to prison. Neither of them did. Laura says, because she was traumatized, she’d blocked it out completely, but when she remembered, she confessed. Because of her age, she was put on probation, and later it was ruled an accident. He says, what if, instead of protecting Laura, and buying her the time she needed to recover, her mother had told the police she’d killed David Hamilton in cold blood? Does she think her life would have been as good as it’s been? She admits, no, it wouldn’t.

Sonny tells Lenny, he must have dozed off. Phyllis said the meds might make him drowsy until they found the right dosage. Lenny laughs, and says, it’s just like him. Sleeping on the job, and everything is still ready to go. Sonny says he was listening to the radio. He heard a song, and had a dream. Lenny says, it must have been some dream.

At the cemetery, where there are surprisingly few people, Father Reyes says, as they lay Sonny’s soul to rest, beside his much loved father Mike and his son Morgan, he’ll lead them in prayer. In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life, through His Son Jesus Christ, we commend to Almighty God, Michael Corinthos Jr., Sonny to his loved ones. Earth to earth; ashes to ashes; dust to dust. The Lord bless him and keep him, the Lord shine His face upon him, and be gracious to him. The Lord lift up His countenance upon him, and give him peace. Amen.

Everyone places white roses on the grave. Olivia kneels, and starts to cry. Sam hugs Diane. Carly is last, and she says she loves him. Nina watches, and Jax turns to see her really pissed off face. I say, ooh, out loud.

Molly tells Alexis, the question is, how does sending her to prison instead of rehab benefit anyone? It doesn’t. Alexis says, so if Molly were standing in front of a judge… Molly says she’d argue that locking Alexis away would only hurt the community. Alexis asks, how? She wouldn’t be supporting the liquor stores and the bars? It’s not like she’s been an asset to citizenry. Molly says, even without a law license, Alexis can still consult, and volunteer, and lots of other things she knows are out there, but none of that will be available in prison, where she knows substance abuse runs rampant. Therefore, Alexis needs to fight this and win. The defense rests. Alexis says Molly is going to make a helluva lawyer, but does she want to know something? Molly says, of course (🍷), and Alexis says, the one thing she wants more than anything, is a drink. Molly puts her arm around Alexis, and leans her head on Alexis’s shoulder.

Laura says, it must have been horrible for Cyrus to be out on the streets alone at 17. She does know what it’s like to be desperate, and she’s done her share of shameful things. He says, exactly. They’re not so very different. She says they’ve both made regrettable choices, but the difference is, she considers hers mistakes; he considers his achievements. He rolls his eyes, and she says, he chooses to live off of people’s weaknesses. She chooses family and community. She chooses love.

While the mourners hug Carly, Jax reaches for Nina, but she backs away from him. He says he didn’t expect to see her there, and she says she was at Nelle’s grave. She walked over there because she was hoping to find him. They need to talk. He says he has to go to the reception, but he can talk after. She says, it has to be now, and he tells her, Josslyn needs him. She says she’s sure Carly needs him too. He says, yes, but can’t they talk afterward? She says, no. They’re going to talk right now. She’s starting to get loud, and everyone is starting to look in their direction. Jax says he can’t right now, and she says, she knows what he did. Carly looks at Jason.

Lenny asks what Sonny’s dream was about, and Sonny says, he’s not sure, but he was happy. He didn’t want it to end. Lenny says, what is it? and Sonny says, I remembered someone.

There was no preview, but we’re two days ahead. I always take preemption as a challenge.

🍹 As I’d thought, Southern Charm Secrets Revealed showed nothing secret, and wasn’t very revealing. It was still enjoyable though. The Secrets Revealed shows are always more lighthearted, as they show everyone actually getting along and having a good time. Stuff that was left on the cutting room floor, since they want conflict for the show. Some of the highlights were: Danni selling her engagement ring, since things didn’t work out with her fiancé  (I hadn’t known this – see below), Kathryn getting hair extensions, the guys playing virtual beer pong, and a 7th anniversary party for Republic. Apparently, the cast has lived a quarter of their lives at the restaurant, and it brought back a lot of memories. Leva said she’d expected to do well, but hadn’t expected it to be The Peach Pit. Even Madison seemed surprisingly human.

🏖 The horrible, horrible cast of Summer House had a roller skating party, and Luke finally showed up, along with someone he’d had a little something with in the past. Hannah, the only person I like on this show, had thought she was having a thing with him, but he stuck her in the friendzone, after gushing about how much he loved her and wanted her in his life. Both girls confronted him, and Hannah got the short end of the stick, with Luke saying they’d never dated in the first place, and acting like they’d just been good buddies. Even worse, I’m pretty sure new old squeeze Ciara won’t care, and she’ll be sleeping with Luke, while Hannah is stuck in the house with them. I felt embarrassed for her, and it only confirmed once again, how awful the people on this show are. Ptooey!

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Josslyn finds Carly crying in the living room, and hugs her.

Phyllis is surprised to find Sonny/Mike up. She says the thought he’d be asleep by now. Sonny is enthusiastically wiping the tables, and says he’s been working. It feels great. She says the tables haven’t gleamed like that since they bought them, and tells him, take it easy. He’s still recovering from a head injury. He says, that made him forget everything except how to use a gun. She says, he’s getting his energy back, but go slow. He says, doctor’s orders? and she says, stricter than that – nurse’s orders. He says he’ll just finish what he started.

Nina sees Curtis at Kelly’s, and asks if he’s waiting for his beautiful wife.

Alexis tells Olivia, she has to apologize and make amends. Olivia says, apologize for what exactly, and Alexis says she knows what. Olivia says she wants to hear Alexis say it. Now be specific. Alexis says, for sleeping with Ned, but Olivia says, that’s a load of bull, isn’t it? What the two of them did, sleeping had nothing to do with it. I love Olivia at this moment. I’m the same way. I want the person to say what they’re apologizing for, so we’re both clear on that. I also think sleeping has nothing to do with it.

Tracy tells Ned, it’s late. Why don’t they talk about it in the morning? He says, that might not be possible. That insane plot of hers to frame Alexis for drunk driving just might get her arrested. She says, and he can be grateful he can’t get arrested, for criminally poor judgment; he cheated on his wife. Don’t dare try to blame her for trying to protect him, and save yet another failed relationship.

Scotty comes by Franco’s house, and Franco asks if he wants coffee. Aiden also made some killer brownies. Scotty says had a beautiful martini going in front of the fireplace before Franco summoned him. Now does he have the remote? Scotty wants to finish watching the Burt Lancaster/Tony Curtis movie he was watching. Franco says, it’s a little bit more important. He needs Scotty to represent him. Scotty asks what Franco did now.

Elizabeth comes into the gym to find Jason punching the heavy bag. She says she called the warehouse, and they said she could find him there. He tells her that he could have come to the house, but she says she’d rather have this conversation alone. He asks if something is wrong; is it Jake? She says, it’s him. He agreed to kill Franco. Franco gave him the green light, and it was like his dream come true.

Lenny says he found this on his desk, showing Sonny some papers. What is it? Sonny says, it’s suggestions Lenny can try. They have three scotches, two vodkas, and one brand of tequila. Their customers want a choice. Lenny says their patrons like whiskey and beer. Their idea of being exotic is getting bourbon twice a year. Sonny says Lenny could give them the brand on the list, and he’ll be surprised at what he sells. Sonny can start working on it tomorrow morning. He can think up some specialty drinks. What do they think? Phyllis says he seems to know his way around a bar, and Sonny says he checked out the stock, and it just came to him. He knew how to improve it. Since they’ve done so much for him, he owes them. He says, he’ll be back, and heads upstairs. Phyllis asks Lenny what he thinks, and Lenny says he thinks he did the guy a favor by taking him in, and now the guy thinks he can take over the whole damn bar. He crumples the list.

Carly says she thought Josslyn was sleeping, and Josslyn says, so Carly could cry without anyone seeing her? She gets it. After Oscar died, Carly would see her struggling, and come up to her. She would give Josslyn a hug, or stroke her hair, just to show Josslyn that she loved her and was there for her. That meant more than anything. Carly says Josslyn is incredible, and asks Josslyn to come sit with her. She asks why Josslyn is up. What’s on her mind? Josslyn says, a million things; Sonny, Oscar’s death. It’s been hard enough to handle. She was on her way to get some water, and stopped by Avery’s room to check on her out of habit. Seeing Avery’s bed empty hit her so hard. It’s so hateful that Ava took her. She’s sad for Avery, but she’s sad for them too.

Jax joins Nina, and she asks if he doesn’t mind an impromptu double-date. He says he doesn’t, but he doesn’t want to intrude on Curtis and Jordan. They might have other plans. Curtis says he’s solo tonight, but he’ll do his charming best. They sit, and Curtis asks if there’s a special reason for their happiness. Did Nina find her daughter, or has she gotten some new information? Nina says Phyllis Caulfield came to Port Charles, and they saw each other. She’s sorry she didn’t tell him. Phyllis saw her baby girl, and confirmed Madeline arranged for an adoption. Phyllis transported her daughter to her new adoptive family. Curtis asks, where? and she says, a small town in north Florida. Phyllis handed her child to what seemed to be loving parents. Curtis says, now they have a place to start. He’ll do a deep dive into towns in north Florida. Nina says she appreciates Curtis caring, but it’s over. She decided to give up the search for her baby girl.   

Alexis tells Olivia, she needs to apologize, but hearing the sordid details won’t help. Olivia says, so they were sordid, and Alexis says, it was a mistake. She and Ned were drunk, and it was wrong on every level. They regretted it almost as soon as it happened. Olivia says, almost. That’s a very interesting measure of time. All the time before it happened that they had to reassess what was going on. The buckles unbuckling, the buttons tugged at, zippers going down, flesh exposed. Never in that time did they think to themselves, what the hell are we doing here? And after that regrettable mistake, Alexis spent the next few months looking her in the eye, pretending to be her friend.

Tracy says for the first time in Ned’s life, he actually has a relationship that’s working, and he puts it all at risk. If he can’t see that she acted out of love… He says, come on. They both know it’s not about him and his past mistake. It’s about her, and her own empty life.

Franco asks why Scotty always makes those assumptions. He didn’t do anything. Scotty says Franco’s done something, or he’d still be in his swanky penthouse. Franco says he wants to be prepared in case big, bad Franco shows up, and tries to run the show. He’s counting on Scotty representing him after he’s dead.   

Elizabeth tells Jason, Franco’s not a rabid dog that needs to be put down, and don’t act like he hasn’t wanted to. Jason says, Franco came to him, and she says, why not tell her? He says, it wasn’t his place, but she says he didn’t want to have the conversation they’re having now. Franco knew Jason wouldn’t say no, and find a valid reason to kill him once he had. What’s it going to be? What’s his criteria to kill her husband?

Phyllis tells Lenny, Mike wants to repay them, even though they owe him for his help with the attempted robbery. Lenny says, Mike knew his way around a gun, but Phyllis says they don’t know why. He could have been in law enforcement, or an enthusiast. Lenny says, and he knows about liquor. Sonny comes back, and says they need to rethink their stock. Get a bigger selection, or maybe come up with a signature cocktail. He wants to put this place on the map.

Carly tells Josslyn, Ava promised not to keep Avery away from her sisters, and Josslyn says, Ava told her the same thing when she stopped by a couple of hours ago, but she didn’t believe her. Carly asks what Ava wanted.  

Curtis says, after all Nina went through, now she’s dropping the search? Nina says her daughter is now an adult, and the searching was consuming her. She was trying to undo something from the past that was out of her control. It was holding her back from living in the now. He says he’s glad she’s happy. He never wants to be the one to bring her back to a painful place, but is she sure she wants to let it go? She says she has to think about her daughter. What if she doesn’t know she’s adopted? She can’t uproot her daughter’s life from a loving family, so she decided to let her daughter look for her, if that’s her decision. She can’t impose herself on her daughter’s life. She’s had a change of perspective, and she’s closing the chapter on the things she’s lost, and letting herself enjoy the things she’s found. She looks at Jax.

Franco says he wants Scotty to let the court know his wishes before he’s dead, and Scotty says, like a will? Franco says, kind of, but not exactly. Scotty says he doesn’t know what Franco is talking about. He must have something in his mind. Franco says he’s getting worse. He keeps hearing Peter’s voice, and now it has something to do with Drew.

Elizabeth asks what line Franco has to cross to make Jason pull the trigger. What if he screams at the coach at Jake’s basketball game? What if he paints a violent scene? What if he picks up toy a monkey and shows it to Aiden? Will that be enough? Jason says, if Franco becomes a threat, he’ll know. The better question is, will she know?   

Ned asks why Tracy is even there. She showed up on Thanksgiving, out of the blue. Why? She didn’t rush back there when Brook was in the hospital with a slashed throat. Tracy says she was in another country, and he says, now she’s in this one – away from Luke, who he imagines is galivanting who knows where. Luke won’t let her control his life, so she’s come back to control his. She says he needs help, but he says, not hers. She says she couldn’t let him destroy the only good thing he has left in his life, and it almost worked. He says, her failed attempt to frame Alexis was nearly perfect, but Olivia was too good a person to let an injustice go without speaking up. Tracy says, now Olivia has to deal with his injustice. She couldn’t fix that. What is he going to do about it?  

Olivia wonders if everyone knew, and no one had the decency to look her in the face, and tell her what happened. Alexis came into her home. She came into Olivia’s place of business, and got in her face; why? Alexis says she’s so ashamed of what she did, and Olivia says, shame? Was it shame when Alexis told her that she should be concerned about her own marriage? It felt like a warning. She told Olivia that Ned was helping her deal with her grief over Neil. It’s classic. How was Ned helping her? With special one-on-one time? In all of this, the one thing Olivia has never detected is a shred of regret, until now, when Alexis got caught.

Franco tells Scotty, if someone were to kill him, he wants the authorities to know they were doing the right thing. Scotty wonders if Franco means in self-defense, but Franco says, hopefully, before he hurts someone. Scotty says, someone is trying to kill him? Did he hire someone to kill him? Franco says, he may or may not have, and Scotty says, who? Jason? Maybe there are a lot of people who want to kill him – Scotty doesn’t know – but the only person he knows who would agree to it is Jason.

Jason asks how Elizabeth knows the tumor hasn’t already affected Franco, and she says, Franco asked Jason to kill him before he hurts someone. He’s a changed man. The old Franco wouldn’t have done that. He says, the old tumor came back, and will affect Franco in the same way, but Elizabeth says, it won’t. He asks how she knows, and she says she doesn’t need protection from her husband. He’s a good man, and his family loves him. Cameron, Aiden, and yes, Jake. Jason’s son loves Franco. How can he think of taking Franco from them?   

Josslyn tells Carly, Ava claimed she wanted to do something for Avery, and Carly says, Avery is Ava’s all-purpose excuse. Carly feels sorry that Avery lost her father, and now she’s alone without her family on that godforsaken island. Her heart breaks for Avery. Josslyn says, hers too, and Ava was definitely taking advantage. She said Avery was asking about her good luck charm, a necklace in the shape of a half-heart. She asked Josslyn to look for it. Carly asks if she found it, and Josslyn says, yeah, in Carly’s jewelry box. The only reason she gave it to Ava was for Avery, but she made Ava work for it. Carly asks, how? and Josslyn says she called Ava out for what she did to Morgan. She said she’d never forget, and Ava looked like she’d swallowed a porcupine. She hates being reminded of who she really is. She got out so fast, she left a paper trail. Should she have not given Ava the necklace? Carly says, no. It was for Avery, and she did the right thing.   

Jax tells Curtis that Nina has made peace with her decision, and Nina confirms she has. Jax’s phone rings, and he steps away. It’s Carly, and he asks if everything is okay. She says she’s at home, and needs to see him. He asks if it’s Josslyn, and she says, no, but it’s urgent. She’ll tell him when he gets there. He says he’s on his way. Nina says, Carly? and Jax says, yeah. She asks if it’s Josslyn, and he says, Josslyn is all right, but Carly needs to see him; sorry. Nina says she’ll take a car home, but Curtis says he’ll take her. Jax says he’ll call later. He leaves, and Curtis asks if this happens all the time; Carly calls and Jax drops everything. She says, it’s a recurring theme in their relationship, and Curtis says, too bad.

Phyllis asks if Sonny is wiping down the bottles, and he says he wants the barback to shine. Lenny says, it’s nice of him, and Sonny says he likes to keep busy. Lenny says he sees, and asks if Sonny isn’t tired. Sonny says he feels so good, he doesn’t even care that he doesn’t know who he is. What matters is, he’s a new man. Phyllis and Lenny look at each other.

Sonny manically cleans, and Lenny tells him, wrap it up; they’re going to bed. Sonny says he can lock up, but Lenny says, it doesn’t work that way. He has to put the money in the safe, and get it squared away. Sonny says he can do that, and Lenny says, not a chance. Sonny says he’s not a bad guy, but Lenny says, he doesn’t know that, and neither does Sonny. On the side, Lenny tells Phyllis, he said from the start, they’ve got to get rid of this guy.

Carly thanks Jax for coming, and tells him that Ava was there while she was gone. She convinced Josslyn to give her the necklace. Jax asks if Josslyn is involved now, but Carly says Josslyn doesn’t know what’s going on. They have to figure out how to get it back. Jax thinks that’s going too far, but Carly says, if Nina traces the necklace back to Nelle, she’ll figure out Nelle was her daughter, and she’s going to look for someone blame. She was the last one to see Nelle alive. Jax says Carly wasn’t to blame, but Carly says, who knows what Nina will believe? She’ll put the blame on both of them for keeping the truth from her.

Nina tells Curtis, she was concerned at first; Valentin and Ava warned her that Jax would put Carly first. They got into her head a little bit, but it’s not Carly he’s putting first; it’s Josslyn, and that’s the way it should be. He says, didn’t Jax just say Josslyn was all right? but Nina says, Carly just lost her husband. She and Jax are more than co-parents; they’re friends. Jax is Carly’s confident, and if she needs to lean on him at this critical time, Nina is fine with it. Jax loves her, and Carly can’t – she wouldn’t – get in the way.

Alexis says she doesn’t blame Olivia for being furious. She deserves every ounce of it, and she’s sorry she damaged their friendship. There’s nothing else to say, so she’ll just go. Olivia says, it came out because she was trying to help expose the lie. She threw her mother-in-law under the bus, but the joke is really on her. Ned comes in, and Alexis can’t get out of the room fast enough. Olivia refuses to look at Ned.

Alexis sees Tracy trying to go upstairs, and says, oh no you don’t. You’re not going anywhere.

Scotty tells Franco, he’s calling the police to pick up Jason for conspiracy to murder. Franco takes the phone, saying, it was his idea. Jason doesn’t deserve jail for ridding the public of a menace. Scotty says Franco’s not a menace, and Franco says, when he’s gone, Jake will need a father. Jason is a good father, but he can’t be if he’s in prison. Can’t Scotty draft some official document to exonerate him?

Elizabeth tells Jason, Franco relates to the boys, each one in a different way. Does it make him jealous that Franco stepped up to be a constant father figure? The occasional visits and sleepovers don’t stand up to nightly dinners, the homework help, and family rituals that she and Franco provide for Jake every single day. Jason says she’s talking about the life she had with Franco before the tumor, and that life doesn’t exist anymore. Geez, he meets with Britt twice, and now he thinks he’s a doctor. Jason has always bordered on a-hole for me. Along with his bestie Carly. Okay, I’ll say it. I can’t stand either one of them.

Alexis says, by her own admission, Tracy set her up. She drove Alexis’s car off the road, made sure she was asleep. put her in the driver’s seat, and called the police. Tracy says Alexis was blacked out, and Alexis says she was drunk, but not so drunk she doesn’t remember her conversation with Olivia. Olivia said something to upset her, and she said something about Olivia’s marriage. Then Tracy came up with this brilliant scheme to keep her from talking, when she wasn’t going to talk anyway, but Tracy didn’t care. She just wanted to minimize her risk, and had Alexis arrested to protect her son’s marriage, and save it.  Tracy says she did it to save Alexis.

Ned says he should have told Olivia about him and Alexis, but he didn’t know how to. Olivia still won’t look at him, and he says he never intended for it to happen, obviously. She says, they’ve been over this again and again. He ran to Alexis because she was off with Robert, and he couldn’t reach her. The funny thing is, Robert was the one who convinced her to call him, and she did. She wanted to be honest. Brook deleted the messages because she was mad, but he still assumed the worst of her. He projected on her something he would do, and went off and had revenge sex. He says, no, but she says, yes, and mommy came in to fix it, because that’s what Quartermaines do. She doesn’t know if she can stomach being part of this family anymore, let alone subject her child to them.

Elizabeth tells Jason, Franco is still himself; he’s not dangerous. And it’s possible the tumor won’t affect Franco in the same way, and there might be treatment. He hopes she’s right, and she says, does he? It’s not the first time she’s had to tell him to back off her husband. She knows how he really feels about Franco, and right now, the only person her family needs protection from is him. So she’s warning him, don’t even think about hurting Franco. If any harm comes to him, Jason is going to be sorry.  

Scotty takes his phone back from Franco, and says, enough with this crazy idea. He wants no part of it. Franco says, he’ll find another lawyer, and Scotty says be his guest; it won’t be binding. Franco says, plenty of people will do it, but he wants Scotty to do it. Please. He needs someone to support him right now. Scotty says, okay. If Franco dies by Jason’s hands, he’ll do what’s in the best interest of not just him and Jason, but everyone. Franco says, okay, everyone, and Scotty says, do him a favor; don’t die. Franco says he’s not planning on it anytime soon, and Scotty says, good. Goodbye, presumably going back to his martini and movie.

Nina says she thinks it’s time she had Curtis and Jordan over for dinner, and he says, sounds great. She says he doesn’t seem too sure. She knows Jordan has had her hands full with Cyrus. Let her know if there’s anything she can do to help him. He says, just keep being his friend, and make the most of this moment. This is the magic time, when they’re happy and getting to know more about each other. He’s got a good feeling. He tells her not to worry about Jax being dishonest like did you-know-who. Nina says, maybe she’s the one not being honest with Jax.

Jax asks what Carly proposes. Sneaking into Windymere, and stealing the necklace off a sleeping Avery? Carly tells him to lower his voice; Josslyn could hear and come downstairs. He says he doesn’t want Josslyn anywhere near this, and Carly says, Nikolas was hiding out at Jax’s house, and owes him. He can get Nikolas to do it. Jax says he’s not conning Nikolas, but Carly says, if Nina learns about this, it could damage their relationship. He asks if she doesn’t think he knows that. She’s the one who made him realize he loves Nina. He told Nina, and she loves him too. It’s the real thing. Carly says, even more reason not to break her heart, and he says, it would devastate Nina if she found out Nelle was her daughter, but the truth is going to come out; it’s inevitable. He should be the one to tell her. If she hears it from someone else, she’ll wind up thinking he’s as bad as Valentin. Carly asks him to give her more time. She’s afraid it will blow back on them in ways they can’t imagine. He says he’s the one who convinced her to stay quiet, and he owns that. She says she’ll find the necklace, and save his relationship with Nina. Trust her.  

Sonny stacks the chairs, and Lenny tells Phyllis, it seems like he’s on drugs. She says, he has no money. There’s no way he’s on drugs. Lenny says, something is wrong, and she says she’s had patients like Mike. She doesn’t know his mental history, but she thinks it’s a psychological disorder. He says, this gets better and better. Now he’s mentally ill. She says, lots of people deal with mental illness, and Lenny tells Sonny, if he doesn’t calm the heck down and go to bed, he’s going to be out. Sonny says he wanted to sweep the floor, and Lenny says, the floor can wait. It’s upstairs or outside in the cold. His choice.

Alexis tells Tracy, she’s heard a lot of spinning in her life, but this takes the cake. Tracy’s audacity in framing her for her own benefit… Tracy says she thought Alexis would choose rehab over prison. Either way, she’d hit bottom and quit drinking. If she keeps going the way she is, she’s going to implode, and take some innocent with her. Think what she wants, but Tracy tried to help her. Tracy goes upstairs.  

Ned asks Olivia not to give up on the family. Can’t they talk through it? Olivia says, not now, and he says, okay. Now is not the time, but maybe she’ll feel up to it tomorrow, or in a few days. At any rate, he’ll go, and she can stay there. She’s not sure she wants to be there now, but he says, stay tonight. Let Leo sleep. Tell him that I love him. He loves her too, and when she’s ready, if she’s ever ready, he’ll be waiting. Olivia continues to look anywhere but at Ned, and when he leaves, she sits on the couch, and sobs.

Nina tells Curtis, what she’s keeping from Jax isn’t that big. Jax thinks she’s fine with giving up the search, and she is intellectually, but emotionally, it’s hard to let go. She can’t help it. Curtis asks what she’s saying, and she fingers the necklace.

Jax says he’ll hold off on telling Nina, and give Carly one more shot at getting the necklace back. How is she going to do it? She says, the less he knows, the better, and he says, right. Then all he’ll say is, good luck and he hopes she gets it back,

Sonny tells Lenny, it’s cool. He doesn’t have to be upset. If he feels that strongly, Sonny will stop working, but don’t touch the chairs; he’ll finish in the morning. If he hasn’t told them, he just wants to say he’s grateful. He appreciates what they’ve done for him. He’s not making their lives harder; he’s going to make their lives easier. He tells Phyllis, thank you, my friend, and goes upstairs.

Jason turns out the lights in the gym. He looks really cranky as he loads his gun.

Elizabeth comes home, and Franco asks, what happened? She says she couldn’t get Jason to back off, and he says he’s glad Jason is a man of his word. She says, she’s a woman of her word. She warned Jason, and now she’s warning him. If Jason comes for him, he has to go through her first.

On Monday, Maxie has an idea, Valentin tells Jax that it makes him an accomplice, Michael asks if Willow needs more time, and Carly says someone has no idea how glad she is to see them.

I have to confess, I’ve seen nary a film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe it’s a commitment issue. But WandaVision looked fun and weird. What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Cameron comes home, and tells Franco that he snagged the last piece of pie at Kelly’s, handing him the bag. Franco says he couldn’t eat a bite, let alone a piece. Cameron asks if it’s because of the cancer.

Someone bangs on Alexis’s door. She opens it to Valentin, who says, she lives. In a manner of speaking.

Tracy says, clearly, Olivia has something to say to her. So say it. Olivia says, fine. What really happened when Alexis drove off the road? Tracy says she really doesn’t want to get into this, and Olivia says, that’s too bad. Tracy says there’s more to the Alexis story than she’s letting on, but before they delve deeper, Olivia has to ask herself if she really wants to know. She left the details out because she wasn’t sure what good would come of them. Olivia says, whatever it is, she wants to know, and Tracy says, even if it’s painful to her and Ned? Olivia wonders what Alexis has to do with her and Ned, and Tracy says, the night she drove Alexis home from the MetroCourt, Alexis gabbed the whole way about Olivia and Ned, and their unconventional marriage. Olivia asks what that means, and Tracy says, her word is unconventional; Alexis’s word was a sham. Olivia says Alexis thinks their marriage is a sham? and Tracy says, apparently. And Alexis had some other choice words to describe Olivia. Olivia says, do tell, and Tracy hesitates. Olivia says she’s an adult and she can handle it. Tracy says, it contained, but wasn’t limited to, gold-digger, common, trash, and slut.

Valentin tells Alexis, he was knocking quite a while. He was starting to get worried. She says that’s because she finally fell asleep, and he sees the photo mess on the table. He asks if it’s an arts and crafts project, and she says, it’s purging of sorts. Let go of the reminders, and hopefully the memories will follow. She asks if he’d like a drink, but he says he’s got plans. She says she vaguely remembers those, and he asks if she’s drinking herself into oblivion. She says she’s nowhere near oblivion, but goals are important. She was a planner not long ago; a planner of career, family, and partnerships. But all those partnership plans make you really reconsider your commitment to the concept. Valentin says maybe she should consider scaling down her plans, but she says, go big or go home. He says, speaking of plans, he has one this evening. There’s a knock at the door, and she says, oh goody. Another intervention? He says, nope, and answers the door to Martin, saying, it’s the cavalry.

Cameron asks if he’s missing something. He brought Franco food, and Franco said he wasn’t hungry. It’s literally never happened the entire time he’s known Franco. Franco says, he’s kind of stuffed. He ate a monster burrito the size of a human head, and he’s not hungry. He didn’t mean to worry Cameron. Cameron apologizes for going all code red, and Franco wonders why. He says next time he’ll be all like, so thoughtful of you. Please put it in the refrigerator so I can enjoy it later this evening. He hands Cameron the bag, and Cameron takes it to the kitchen. Franco asks how he is. He’s got a lot going on for a kid his age. Looking after his mom and brothers, he’s a high school senior, so there’s girls, soccer, other girls, the mail. Franco picks up an envelope, and says, this would be for Cameron from the admissions office of Stanford university.

Jason goes to Britt’s office, and asks if it’s a good time. She says, it’s as good a time as any, but she’s not sure about the place with Cyrus lurking around. He says, Cyrus isn’t the problem, and she says, since when? He says, since Cyrus has been dealing with some difficulties. She says, that’s vague. Care to share. He says, her first.

After talking on the phone to Terry about Franco’s treatment, Elizabeth runs into Sam. She asks what Sam is doing at the hospital, and Sam says she’s picking up Lucas. Did she just hear Elizabeth right? Elizabeth says, it depends on what she heard, and Sam asks if she heard brain tumor, as in the brain tumor. Elizabeth says, this isn’t the place, but Sam wants to go somewhere and discuss it. Elizabeth steers her to another area, and says her private conversation is none of Sam’s business. Sam says it is her business. It’s everybody’s business if Franco’s brain tumor is back. Isn’t it? Elizabeth says, it is, but don’t jump to conclusions. It’s not like it was before. Sam says, like when Franco went on a murdering spree before? Elizabeth says, there are other factors complicating Franco’s diagnosis, but Sam says, things are already complicated enough. Elizabeth says she knows Sam is scared, but Sam says Elizabeth doesn’t understand. The last time, Franco made her believe he’d raped her and she’d gotten pregnant. She was one of the lucky ones; she survived. Elizabeth says, it’s not like last time, and walks away. Sam says, really? Everyone could be in danger, including Elizabeth and her children.

Franco tells Cameron, the envelope is kind of thin, and Cameron asks if he thinks that’s bad. Franco says he doesn’t know. In this day and age, he doesn’t know why they don’t send an email. Cameron takes the envelope, and Franco says, it’s also kind of early. Cameron says he applied for an early decision, and Franco asks if his mom knows that. Cameron says he didn’t tell her; he didn’t tell anyone. Franco says, check him out; a man of mystery. Cameron says she doesn’t even know he applied to the west coast, and Franco asks if he told anyone. Cameron says, no, and Franco says, not even his friends? That wouldn’t be because he’s afraid they’d think less of him if he wasn’t accepted at Stanford University? That would be ridiculous. And it would be a lie because of Cameron. Franco couldn’t possibly think little of him. He thinks a lot of Cameron, and it’s a problem. He’s going to have a freakishly large head, and chicks will think that’s weird. Cameron says he’ll try his best.

Nina tells Jax, this is unexpected, and he says, not unwelcome, he hopes. She asks if he’s insane. Her incredibly handsome boyfriend, with the beyond sexy Australian accent just told her that he loves her. It’s the worst day ever. He says, but something still seems off? Was it too soon? She says, no, and he says, not soon enough? It’s been on his mind for a while, but he was searching for the perfect moment. She says they’ve been skirting disaster for months now, but he says, it shouldn’t matter. He should know that when you tell someone you love them, you don’t need to dress it up. You say it because you feel it, when you feel it, and he’s felt it for a long time. Does she forgive him? She says, for what? and he says, being inexcusably late. They kiss.

Alexis asks Valentin who this person is, and why they’re in her living room. Martin thanks her for the warm reception, and Valentin says, he’s Martin Grey, his personal attorney. He’s tasked Martin with representing her for her DUI charge. She says, that’s very kind, but she already has representation. Valentin says, Diane? and she says, no. Martin says he agreed to help in exchange for Valentin rescuing his mother. He didn’t agree to work a minor miracle on a lost cause. Alexis points out that she’s right there, and says she has the matter well-handled. Valentin says, does she? and she says she has the defense drawn up. Valentin says she sounds confident, and she says she lost her license to practice because she was indiscreet, not because she was bad at her job. Valentin says, then he’s sure her defense will stand up to peer review. She doesn’t mind if Martin takes a look, does she?

Tracy tells Olivia, she had no idea Alexis was harboring such vicious feelings. Olivia says, she was pretty drunk, and had to be cut off at the bar. She wasn’t thinking straight. Tracy says, that’s the problem; a drunk Alexis has no filter. A drunk Alexis says what she thinks, decorum and everyone else be damned. Olivia asks if Tracy thinks Alexis actually believes she’s a gold-digging slut, and Tracy says, Alexis has failed in every aspect of her life. She’s casting about, looking for someone to ride her ship. What about good old reliable Ned? Olivia says, what about he’s married? Tracy says, so? Alexis is convinced Olivia isn’t good enough for him. She’s terrified if Olivia doesn’t keep them apart, Alexis will convince Ned too. Ned comes downstairs.

Ned asks if Sam and Lucas are there yet? Leo is getting a little antsy. Tracy says, of course (🍷) he is. It’s the celebration of his official entrance into the Quartermaine clan. Julian Jerome, buh-bye. Ned says, mother… and Tracy says, Julian may have provided  the DNA, but he provides the love and security. He’s Leo’s father. She asks if Olivia doesn’t agree, and Olivia says, of course (🍷) she does. Leo loves Ned very much. It’s not going to make him forget Julian, but it will make it a lot easier. Ned leaves to check on something in the kitchen, and Tracy tells Olivia not to give credence to anything Alexis said. Olivia says, she doesn’t. People have been calling her a slut since she was a pregnant teenager. She’s been waiting for gold-digger since she and Ned started dating. She’s surprised it took so long. Tracy tells her, don’t give it a second thought. She’s more than good enough for Ned. More than good enough for all of them. Olivia says, but she’s not good enough for the truth. Whatever Alexis said hurts, but it doesn’t fill in the holes in Tracy’s story. What is Tracy not telling her?  

Jason looks in a microscope, and tells Britt, it’s been a long time since he took organic chemistry. Britt says, he took organic chemistry? And he says, so he’s been told. What is he looking at? She says what’s left of her friend Mortimer’s grey matter. He was a lab rat. He asks if she always names her test subjects, but she says she tries not to, for fear of introducing bias. The last thing she wants is empathizing with it. This one just screamed Morty. He asks what Morty did for her, and she says, gorged on a steady flow of Cyrus’s wonder drug. She wanted to see if his claims of its potency are legit, and are they ever. It opens the dopamine floodgates like nothing she’s ever seen before. He asks when Cyrus put it on the market, and she says, he didn’t. He asks if he has her passing the stuff to the staff to use on the patients, and she says, excuse me? What is he accusing her of?

Sam tells Elizabeth, if the tumor comes back, so does the behavior, but Elizabeth says, she doesn’t think so. There have been no signs; no aggressive thoughts or tendencies. There’s been zero evidence that the tumor is affecting Franco the same way. Sam says, so it is affecting him in some way?

Franco asks if Cameron is going to open it or what. Franco offers to give him some privacy, if he wants to be alone, but Cameron says he was thinking of waiting for his mom. Franco says, it’s grown-up mail, and Cameron’s call. He thinks she’d want to be there for the moment. Cameron says, if it’s a good moment, and Franco says, on the flipside, she wouldn’t want him to spontaneously combust while he was waiting. Cameron asks if Franco has his back, and Franco says, no; he’s on his own. Just kidding. Franco has his back. Cameron says, okay then, let’s go, and opens the envelope. Franco hears Peter’s voice saying, please be Drew Cane.    

Nina says, only Jax would apologize for telling a woman he loves her, but he says, no; for not saying it sooner. She says, the right time never existed, with her being preoccupied with Valentin, and Sasha, and Nelle, and looking for her daughter. No wonder he couldn’t find an opening; there wasn’t one. He says, but he’s not wrong, is he? There’s a little hesitation on her part. She says, he’s not wrong, but it’s not what he’s thinking, or what she thinks he’s thinking, if that’s what he’s thinking. He says, so what is it? She says the truth is, she’s both longed for and been afraid of him saying those words. He asks, why? and she says, her experience with someone saying I love you is, that’s when it starts going downhill, or things start getting better. She wants the latter. He says, it will be, and she asks how he knows. He says, together, they’ll make it happen.  

Franco continues to hear, please, be Drew Cane, and tells Cameron, come on, dude. The suspense is killing him. Cameron opens it and says, he got in. Unless he’s misreading it or hallucinating. Franco says, it looks like he’s going to college. He needs to learn to read. It says, congratulations, not congratulations on a rejection letter. He did it. He got in. They hug.  

Sam asks Elizabeth to please tell her what’s been happening, and they sit. Elizabeth says, Franco has been experiencing some symptoms; only one symptom actually. It’s not affecting his behavior, and it’s not putting anyone in danger. The doctors aren’t even sure it has to do with the tumor. Sam says she’s not following, and Elizabeth asks what else she needs to know. Franco is going to die. Sam takes Elizabeth’s hand, and Elizabeth says, Franco’s brain tumor is inoperable. The best they can hope for is that the radiation will buy him time before the bomb in his head goes off. Then, it’s just a matter of how much time he has left.

Alexis asks if the reviews are in, and Martin says, there’s only one B in sober. And the court may look more favorably if on her case if she’s refers to the officer as Detective, not Defective Chase. She says she didn’t write that, and Valentin asks if it’s the final draft. Alexis snatches it out of his hand, and says, obviously before she files it, she’s going to proof read it. Martin says, that is a relief. Would she care for his overall assessment, or should he just toss her a dictionary and be done with it? Alexis says she doesn’t need council from Nelle Benson’s stooge, and Martin says he would have won, if Nelle would have followed instructions. Instead, she insisted on doing things her own way. Valentin says, that sounds familiar, and Martin asks if Alexis wants to win. He can do that for her. All she has to do is swallow her pride. Can she do that?   

Olivia says she’s dying to believe Tracy. It would be so much easier, but it wouldn’t be right. Tracy says she has no idea what Olivia is talking about, and Olivia says, the way Tracy tells it, Alexis disabled the alarm. Tracy says, and…? and Olivia says, she and Sam checked with the security company. When the alarm goes on or off, a record is kept in an electronic log. It was set in the afternoon, and not touched until 24-hours later when Alexis returned to the house after she’d been in custody. Tracy says, so? and Olivia asks, how the hell did they get in without Alexis touching the alarm? Tracy says, how would she know? and Olivia says she thinks they never made it back to the house. Tracy says, or Alexis was so drunk, she didn’t set the alarm. Olivia says, Tracy told her Alexis used the code, and Tracy says, who cares what she said? Olivia says, she does. No matter what Alexis said about her, Alexis is facing a DUI because of the lies Tracy is telling. Alexis swears she didn’t get behind the wheel of the car that night. Tracy says, that’s ridiculous. If Alexis wasn’t behind the wheel, then who was? Olivia says, you.  

Olivia says, Tracy was driving when she and Alexis left the MetroCourt. She thinks Tracy was still driving when the car went off the road. Tracy says, if that’s true, why didn’t Alexis just say it? Olivia says, because she was wasted. She was incoherent. Pretty convenient, isn’t it? Tracy says, how dare Olivia make these baseless accusations. Olivia doesn’t think they’re so baseless. The only thing that doesn’t make sense is why. What does Tracy stand to gain by framing Alexis? Tracy asks if it every occurred to Olivia that it might not be about her. That she might be doing something for somebody else. Olivia asks, who stands to gain from Alexis being thrown in jail… Wait. Tracy did this for her?

Alexis says, she’ll bite. How is Martin going to win her case? He says, it starts by knowing thy enemy, which clearly she does not. She says she’s argued before Judge Herbert plenty of times. He says, on drunk driving charges? And she says, no. He says her procedural arguments won’t work. He’s going to be inclined to believe Chase. She says, Chase was sloppy, and Valentin asks if she means defective Chase. Martin tells him, don’t help. The judge plays basketball with Robert Scorpio, and will be inclined to give Chase, an officer of the law, the benefit of the doubt. Something he’ll give to her as well, if they play to his foibles. Care to hazard a guess as to what his drink of choice is? Alexis says, water, straight up? and Martin says, perish the thought. He’s a whiskey man. Martin has enjoyed many with him while at the club. Valentin asks, what country club? and Martin says Valentin has way too much money. Less country, more strip. Alexis says, gross, and Martin says, it’s where business gets done. The relevant point is, the judge can’t handle his liquor, and never enters the club without giving his keys to his sober driver first; the way Alexis did handing them to Tracy. Boom! That’s her defense.

Franco tells Cameron, they need a celebration. They’ve got his mom, his brothers, Josslyn and Trina… Scott, Laura, and Lesley is in town; from what he hears, she never says no to a party. Cameron says, no party. He doesn’t want a big deal. He doesn’t want to tell anybody. Franco says, he got into Stanford; it’s a big deal. Cameron says, it’s not if he decides not to go, and Franco says, he applied early. That says it’s his first choice. Why wouldn’t he go?

Elizabeth tells Sam, she’s fine. She doesn’t have the luxury to be anything else. Sam says, okay, but if Elizabeth ever needs a shoulder to cry on or an outlet, she can come over. Or if she’d rather talk to Jason, Sam could call him, if that would be helpful. Elizabeth says, Jason doesn’t know, and Sam asks what she means. Elizabeth wonders why Sam is asking, and Sam says she probably should have told Elizabeth this at the beginning. Franco showed up at her house the other day, and he was looking for Jason. Elizabeth says, for what? and Sam says, obviously, Franco didn’t know Jason didn’t live there anymore. He went to leave, and had a giant headache. He didn’t tell her? Elizabeth says, anything else? and Sam says, he was mumbling, but she couldn’t make it out. She was scared for him, and she was going to call 9-1-1. By that time, Jason showed up, and she excused herself. When she came downstairs, Jason said if Franco came back, to call him immediately. Elizabeth asks if Jason said why, but Sam tells her, no. Elizabeth says she needs to go home.

Britt tells Jason, think what he wants about her, but she’d never foist an unapproved, unproven drug on her patients. He asks how she got her hands on it, and she says, she’s Chief of Staff. She can get her hands on whatever she wants. He tells her, this is a bad idea. Cyrus is dangerous. He knows from personal experience that Cyrus will kill anyone who gets in his way. She says, so? and he says he’s the one who put her on this track. He doesn’t want her in jeopardy because of it. She says so she’s not capable of taking her own chances? She’s not capable of realizing that Cyrus is bad news and looking into it? That has to fall on his big, burly, powerful shoulders? She’s the daughter of two world-class criminals. She knows how to snag something from the hospital without tripping the alarms. So if she’s going to thank him for anything, it’s the wake-up call, but not for protecting her, or telling her to stay out of it.

Nina tells Jax, it’s a lot to take in, and he asks if she wants some time. She asks if he’s kidding. After all that… How many ways can she say it? Te amo... Je t’iame. He says that’s one of his favorites. She says something nonsensical that sounds like pig Latin, and he says he’s not familiar with that one. She says, it’s a private language that only she and her brother knew when they were kids. It drove their mother crazy. It’s really the only phrase she knows. English is better. She loves him too. They hug.

Cameron tells Franco that he hasn’t decided where he wants to go, and Franco says, if Cameron hadn’t applied early, he’d believe him. Cameron says, it’s not set stone. Franco asks if that’s what Cameron wants. Is it the money? California is far away. Is that it? Cameron says, it’s his choice. Let him make it. Franco tells him, don’t go through it alone. It’s not fair. At least tell his mom. Cameron says when he has a plan, she’ll know it too. Franco says, awesome.

Olivia tells Tracy, she doesn’t understand. What would she get out of Alexis being arrested. Tracy asks if Olivia is sure she wants to keep pushing. Ned comes in with Sam, and says, look who made it. Sam says she’s sorry she’s late. Lucas sends his apologies; something came up at GH, but he’ll be there as soon as he can. Ned says, the life of a doctor, and Tracy says, more cake for her. Ned suggests that he grab Leo, and they can get the party started.   

Alexis asks Martin if he’s saying Tracy had a duty of care as far as she was concerned, and he says, when Tracy took her keys, she assumed responsibility. It didn’t end at Alexis’s front door. Tracy had a duty of care to make sure Alexis wasn’t a threat to herself or anyone else. Instead, she took her eyes off Alexis, and that negligence allowed Alexis to run out the door, and drive off the side of the road. Valentin says, so if not for Tracy… and Martin says, Tracy was a poor excuse for a sober driver, and someone the judge will agree can’t be relied on. Alexis says, none of this would have happened. Also – I just now thought of this – how would Alexis have gotten her keys back? That would fall under negligence too, I would think.

Sam asks how Tracy feels being a granny again. Tracy says, she doesn’t respond to that word, and Sam needs to watch her step in this house. Her betrayal cost the family dearly. Sam says if Tracy wants to talk about ELQ, she’s game for whenever, but Tracy says she’s talked out, thanks. Olivia flashes back to Ned and Alexis talking about being there for each other at The Floating Rib, finding Alexis drunk at the MetroCourt and Alexis telling her to worry about herself and her marriage, and Tracy not letting her go with Ned to help Alexis. She remembers telling Ned they can make it work, and Ned saying, that depends on if she can ever forgive him. She asks, for what? and he says, doubting her. He should have known she was faithful. Ned comes down, and says, Leo is video-chatting with Lucas, and needs a few more minutes. Olivia says, oh my God, and he says, what’s wrong? She says, he wanted her to forgive him for doubting her, but there was so much more for her to forgive, wasn’t there?

On the phone with Obrecht, Franco says he had another episode… It’s hard to say. It was still Peter’s voice, but it was different this time. It would be great if she’d just treat him for this, because it’s getting old. He thanks her, and says get back to him. Elizabeth comes in, and he says he’s happy to see her. She says she wishes she could say the same. He’s been lying to her.   

Britt says Jason tells her that her boss is trying to turn Port Charles into an addiction hub, and he expects her to do nothing? He says he didn’t expect anything, since he doesn’t really know her. She says, but he knows of her, doesn’t he? Her torrid past, the people she’s hurt. She doesn’t need his permission. She knows who she is, and she plans to do good in the time she has left, like it or not. So he can look at her, and reduce her to The Britch, or one of the other lovely nicknames they have for her, but she’s none of those things. She’s not her mother, or her father. He says, and not her brother. He shows her the laptop screen, where we see the front page of The Invader and Peter’s picture.

Tomorrow – if not preempted – Elizabeth asks why Franco is so quick to throw that away, Anna tells Robert that she doesn’t believe it for a second, Jason asks if Britt is going to see what she wants to or see the truth, and Ned says, this ends now.  

🩺 Supposedly, GH will be preempted in the US tomorrow. I’ll see if I can find it anywhere though. Sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I have a meeting on Tuesday nights, so I missed Real Housewives of Dallas, and Bravo didn’t rerun it. How is it that I’ll see the same episode of RHOC listed a hundred times, and I didn’t even get twice for this one? I’ll possibly catch up on Thursday. Yeah, that should be my worst problem. So I’m turning in early. I hope. Please, God, please. Tomorrow is the Inauguration, so stay extra safe, stay clear and cool headed, and stay assuming responsibility if you become the sober driver.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

While my weeks are usually a blur of going from one thing to the next, this week has been a particularly demanding one. Which is my excuse for being late to the party today, but not by much. Here’s what you need to know. Molly thought Kristina should be at the intervention, but Sam nixed the idea since she’s a control freak. Diane arrived, bringing Valentin, which didn’t make Sam and Molly happy. Sonny found Dante punching the heavy bag, and Dante admitted to having Lulu on his mind. Elizabeth told Franco that she’d made an appointment with Patrick Drake for him, and said they’d be leaving next week. At The Floating Rib, Lulu told Laura that she still loved Dante, but she loved Dustin too. Laura said Dante was part of her past, and she couldn’t erase that, but she had to decide who was right for her future. Cameron and Dev went to The Rib, and Cameron told Dev that Franco’s brain tumor had returned. Julian met Cyrus at the pier, carrying the bomb in a backpack, and said he wasn’t blowing up a bar full of people. He wanted Cyrus to take the bomb back. And away we go.

Jason tells Danny, it’s all about the angles. He needs practice and skill, and to keep a cool head. He asks if Danny is getting tired, but Danny says he’s glad they’re hanging out. He thinks Grandma Alexis is acting weird. His mom tried to hide it, but he can tell she’s upset. Jason says when he sees Danny’s mom upset, his instinct is help and try to fix it. Sometimes the best way to help is to just let some know you’re there, and let the person figure it out for themselves. Danny says his mother isn’t worried about herself. She’s worried about his grandma’s drinking. 

Sam asks why Diane invited Valentin, especially tonight. Diane says her best friend has fallen off the wagon. She’d be friends with the devil himself to help get her back on. Valentin says he’s enjoying his newfound friendship, but is this about him? He thought it was about Alexis. Sam says, it’s a delicate situation. She’s not sure his presence will help. Valentin says he knows Alexis in a way they don’t, and won’t judge her, and Diane tells them, Valentin can probably get through to Alexis easier than they can. What will it be? Can they tolerate Valentin for the sake of their mother?   

Cyrus tells Julian, he has the wrong idea. No savvy businessman would accept collateral damage. If they wanted to take Jason out, they’d arrange it when he was alone at a meeting in a closed bar after hours. A business meeting requires preparation, so everything will be in place when the time comes. Until then, a package is just a package. Julian asks if Cyrus is telling him it won’t go off until Jason is alone. Fine. Cyrus gives Julian a phone, and says his burner number is already programmed into it. Call him when it’s done. Cyrus leaves, and Alexis comes around the corner. She says fancy meeting him there, and Julian says, it’s a bit of a surprise. Alexis says imagine her surprise seeing him and Cyrus together.

On the phone, Elizabeth says she’ll check the schedule, and call Patrick back. She tells Franco, everything is falling into place, and he says he’s not sure how she does that. He wishes it was catching. She says, what? and he says, her hope and faith; her plugging away. He’s a little terrified. Part of him wants to give up and accept his fate. She says, it’s a delicate balance. How long do you keep hoping, and when is the time for acceptance, but they’re not there yet. They’re still hoping. It’s not just his fate; it’s their fate. She’s willing to face anything to keep their family together. He says she’s right. From now on, he’ll do anything and everything to beat this. He holds her, and says he wants to be with her when she’s old and grey.

Britt calls Jason, and gets voicemail. She says he dumped this Cyrus stuff in her lap, and now he won’t take her calls. He told her if she saw something, say something, and she saw something. He needs to get to GH right now. She turns around to see Cyrus, who says, problems?

Alexis asks what Julian has gotten himself into now, but he says he went out for some fresh air. Cyrus keeps bugging him to sell Charlie’s, and he keeps telling Cyrus to buzz off. He asks if she’s been drinking, and she says, the roadways are safe; she’s walking. Julian says, it didn’t happen in a vacuum, and she says she’s not mowing anyone down tonight, even him. Relax. He says, what about her? and she says she’s bored with everyone’s misplaced concern that she’s self-destructive. She thinks she’s a survivor. She’s survived the past few years, starting with him, and she’s entitled to do what she needs to in order to get through the night. He says she’s made herself clear, but it hurts him to see her drowning her pain in a bottle of booze. She says she had two drinks. She was clearing her head before she went to say goodnight to Danny and Scout. Sam has lifted the moratorium on her seeing her grandkids. He says, it’s a positive start. They’re lucky to have her. Speaking from personal experience, she’s been a positive light in his dark life. She pushed him to be a better man. If it failed, that’s on him, not her. She asks why he’s talking like that. He sounds like he’s saying goodbye.

Diane asks if she’s convinced Sam and Molly to let Valentin stay, and Sam says if he tries to undermine the intervention, she’ll kill him herself. He says he accepts her terms. When is Alexis getting here? Sam says, soon she hopes. Alexis is supposed to come before the kids go to bed. He asks if Jason is coming, but Sam says she asked him to take Danny out, so he wouldn’t be there when they confront Alexis. They’re at The Floating Rib.    

Jason asks why Danny said that about Alexis, and Danny says he wasn’t spying or anything. He would walk in when his mom was talking about his grandma’s drinking, and she would stop when she saw him. Jason says he’s right. His mom has been worried about his grandma. Sometimes people drink too much, and can’t stop. That’s probably why his mother asked his grandma not to see them until she’s better. Danny says he misses her; Scout too. He hopes she doesn’t forget about them. Jason says, that’s not going to happen. Families have disagreements, but they don’t give up on each other. They’re not giving up on Danny’s grandma; no way.

Cameron tells Dev, Terry says it doesn’t look that good, and Dev says, that’s a lot. He’s sorry to hear it. If Cameron doesn’t want to hang out, it’s okay. Cameron says he’s glad he’s there. What did Dev want to talk about? Dev says, something else happened, and Cameron asks if it was when Dev was with Trina and Josslyn. Dev says, it’s something about Josslyn, but it’s not new. Cameron asks, what is it? and Dev flashes back to making the fake journal. Dev says he did something he regrets, and he wants to make it right.

Laura tells Lulu, plans change, and Lulu says, that’s all she’s got? Laura says, life is unpredictable. She says she doesn’t want to minimize what’s going on in Lulu’s life, and Lulu says her life is wonderful, but it’s difficult and messy at the same time. Laura says, if you find love in the midst of that, it’s a gift. Dante is Rocco’s father, and her husband. It’s not surprising the decisions she made when he was gone might change now that he’s back. Lulu says, that’s the thing. She doesn’t know if she wants them to change or not.

Dante tells Sonny, he divorced Lulu. He didn’t want to wait until his recovery. Sonny says Dante was in a bad place, and needed help. Everyone respected that. Dante says he didn’t know how to take it when he came home, and Lulu was with another dude. Sonny says he wasn’t there, but can’t imagine being willing to accept she’s with another man. Dante says he’s already disrupted Lulu’s life by showing up. He doesn’t want to disrupt it again. He loves her. Sonny asks if he thinks Lulu wants him to just give up.   

Lulu tells Laura that she’s happy with Dustin, and the kids love him. They have a solid life together, but she saw Dante, and all this history and love started bubbling up. Laura says what she needs is time and space, and has every right to ask for it. Maybe she should tell Dustin that it’s not the time to move in. If he’s the man she says he is, he’ll understand.

Dev asks if Cameron remembers when he showed him Josslyn’s journal. Cameron says Dev saved him from making a complete fool out of himself. In the moment, it was hard to hear, but he appreciates that Dev had his back. Had he gone for it, he might have lost a friend for good. Dev says, the thing is… Danny calls over to Cameron, and says his dad is teaching him to play pool. He just sunk two balls. Cameron tells Dev that he’ll be right back.  

Lulu tells Laura, it’s a good idea. Knowing Dustin, she knows he’ll understand, and want her to have clarity, so they can move forward with a clean slate. Laura thinks so too. She’s come to like and respect Dustin. Lulu says, that means a lot, and Laura says she has to get going. She wishes Lulu good luck, and kisses the top of her head. When Laura is gone, Lulu calls Dustin, and asks if he’s busy. She was hoping they could meet at The Rib.

Danny says, it’s all about finding the right angles, and Cameron says if Danny gets good now, it will be a breeze later. Laura texts Jason that she needs to talk, and to meet her in the alley. Jason says he has to make a quick call, and asks if Cameron will watch Danny. Cameron says, no problem, and tells Danny, rack them up.

Diane reads to the group from a paper, the guidelines say speak personally from your point of view. How does Alexis’s drinking affect you, and how does it make you feel? Not in a way that assigns blame. It’s not about shaming her, but about how much they love her.Valentin tells them, be prepared to be attacked, and Sam says his comment isn’t helpful. That’s why she didn’t want him there. He says he might be more helpful than she thinks, and Molly says, let them talk first. Valentin says he’s not convinced that Alexis is coming. She should have been there by now.

Alexis asks if Julian is leaving, but he says, no. He’s doing everything to stay. His kids and grandkids mean everything to him. She asks if he’s sure he’s all right, and he laughs. He says she’d better get a move on before the kids go to bed. She asks if he’s trying to get rid of her, but he says he’s just in a melancholy mood. Everything will be better tomorrow. She tells him, take care, and he says, her too. She leaves, and Julian picks up the backpack and walks in the other direction.

Elizabeth tells Franco she got her shifts taken care of, and he says he’s starving. They head for the elevator while talking about the kids, and Franco asks if she’s seen Jake’s graphic novel. It’s amazing. She asks if he has, and he says they’re reading it together. The elevator doors close.

Dante tells Sonny, he can’t go all caveman on Lulu. He’s already crossed boundaries. Sonny says, even if Dante hadn’t gotten treatment, Lulu would still be his wife. It’s understandable they would have feelings. Dante says, listen to Sonny, talking about feelings. He likes it, and he does still love Lulu. He wants to be with her. Sonny suggests Dante tell her, but Dante says he doesn’t want to pressure her. Sonny says they know she can make up her own mind. She may be stubborn about the feelings she has, but the life they had together, what was between them, is still there. Dante asks, what makes Sonny think he’s not the only one who has feelings? Sonny says he doesn’t know, but he has a radical idea. Ask her.  

Julian goes into The Rib. He sees Danny, Dev, and Cameron playing a video game, and having a great time. He sits at a booth, and looks in the backpack.

Alexis arrives at Sam’s, and Sam says she’s glad Alexis made it; she was starting to worry. Alexis says sorry she’s late, and they hug. She says she should go upstairs and say goodnight, but Sam says, actually, Scout is sleeping and Danny’s not here. Alexis asks where he is, and Sam says, he’s with his father. Molly says they love her. That’s why they’re doing this. Alexis says, doing what? Diane and Valentin come out, and Alexis says she sees. They’re having an intervention.  

Britt tells Cyrus that she wouldn’t be a very effective Chief of Staff if she ran to the Chairman about every minor crisis. She wonders why he’s there at this hour, and he says he likes to keep tabs on his hospital. He never tires of looking for ways to improve things. He’s made progress with some excellent staff choices, like herself, but there’s still much to be done to make it a world class hospital. He looks forward to her playing a part in that.   

Jason meets Laura outside, and she says she needs an update on Cyrus. He says, the truce is holding on the surface, and she says, and underneath? He thinks she should talk to Sonny, and she asks where she can find him. He says he Sonny is having a workout at the gym. He can tell Sonny that she’s looking for him if she wants, but she says she’ll track him down.

Dustin joins Lulu, and says he’s glad she called. He wasn’t too far away. He was picking something up. She says, it sounds secretive, and reminds him that she’s a reporter; she can sniff out a story. He says he’s not worried, and asks what she wanted to see him about. She says, us.

At the video game console, Danny says he’s just warming up, and Dev says he has more quarters. Danny tells them, this is the coolest part, and they watch, then say, whoa! Julian takes out his phone, and looks at pictures of his kids. He flashes back to Cyrus intimating that the bomb won’t go off until Jason is alone. Until then, the package is just a package. Julian says, God help him, and gets up. He walks out, leaving the backpack under the table. The boys continue playing. Julian should know better. He was a mob boss, for God’s sake. 

Alexis says, this is an ambush. Sam lured her there under false pretenses. Molly says they care about her, and she says, if they did, they wouldn’t have set a trap. Valentin says they want to talk to her, and she asks, why? Talk is deceptive. She’s not listening to how much they love her. You don’t betray people you love. Diane says, no one betrayed her. On the contrary; they’re all on her side. Sam asks Alexis to hear them out, but Alexis says Sam weaponized her love for her grandchildren. First by prohibiting her from seeing them, and then using them as bait to lure her there. She’s sure as hell not staying there now.

Jason calls Britt back, and asks what she wants. She says she has something for him, and can’t talk about it on the phone. She needs him to come to the hospital asap. He says he can’t; he’s with his son. They’ll have to talk tomorrow.  

Laura finds Sonny at the gym, and they hug. She says she’s eager for an update, but Sonny says she might want to say hello to someone first. She says, who? and Dante says, me. She hugs him, and tells him, welcome home. He says he’s sorry he was gone so long, and she says she completely understands the choice he made. He kept his family safe. That’s all that matters. In time, Lulu will figure things out. Dante says he was thinking of stopping by, and Laura says she just left Lulu at The Floating Rib. He says he’s going to take off, and tells them, goodnight. Laura and Sonny smile at each other.

Lulu tells Dustin, she’s been turning some things around in her head. Dante coming back threw her for a loop. Dustin says he gets that. She and Dante were together for a long time. He says, it makes sense that things would feel unfinished, and she says, it doesn’t take away from how she feels about him. She loves him, and values their relationship. He says he’s glad to hear it, because he loves her too. That’s why he’s been reevaluating moving in. She says she’s so glad he understands. Him officially moving in doesn’t feel totally right anymore. He says he doesn’t want her falling backward in confusion and uncertainty, and doesn’t want her to doubt his commitment to their life together. He takes out a jewelry box. Rut-roh.

Jason comes back into The Rib, and asks Cameron if everything is good. Cameron says, it’s great. Danny might not be much at pool, but he’s a shark. He may have spent all of Dev’s quarter’s. Jason tries to give Dev some money, but Dev won’t take it, and Jason says, at least let him buy them dinner, and hands Dev some cash. Dev and Cameron go to order, and Danny asks if Jason wants to see how good he is at the video game. Jason guesses he can stay longer, and Danny drags him over to the console. Dev says he needs to tell Cameron something about Josslyn’s journal, when Elizabeth and Franco come in. Cameron says, first, he wants to say hi to his parents, and tells Dev to grab a table. Dev sits down, and his foot hits the backpack. He says, what the hell…? Ooh, he might know what something like that looks like, considering his background.

Alexis tells Sam to get her coat, and Sam says, mom, please. Just an hour. Alexis says she doesn’t want to talk, especially to Sam. Valentin says her daughters are desperate and scared, and don’t want to lose their mother. He tells Alexis that she doesn’t want to lose her life, but she says it’s her choice. If she wants to drink, she will. Diane says, here you go, handing Alexis her coat. She doesn’t want Alexis to get pneumonia on top of everything else. Sam says if Alexis leaves, she’s going to lose her support system. Alexis fought like hell for her, and now it’s her turn. Is Alexis willing to throw all of them away? Stay and hear them out.

Sonny says it’s good what Laura said to Dante, and she says she has a sneaking suspicion that he and Lulu will be just fine. Sonny says, him too, and asks how she knew he was there. She says she ran into Jason. She’s sorry, but she has to talk to him about something that can’t wait.

Britt brings Brad something for his pain. He asks if she reached Jason, and she says, they spoke, but she couldn’t get into it on the phone. He says, Jason is coming, right? If Jason doesn’t help, he’s as good as dead.

Julian stands at the docks.

Dev touches the bag.

Cameron tells Franco and Elizabeth that he’s sorry for freaking out, but Franco gives Cameron credit, saying, he took the bad news well. Dev tells the bartender, there’s a suspicious bag under the table. Dustin tells Lulu, she’s right. He doesn’t want to just move in; that’s not enough. He wants them to build a life, and to make what they have permanent. Lulu says, she thought… and he says he’s doing this wrong. He gets down on one knee, and shows her the ring, which is beautiful, no surprise. He says he loves her with all his heart. Will she marry him?

Julian looks at the phone, and calls Cyrus. He says Cyrus better pick up.

Dante starts to cross the parking lot toward The Rib, when it explodes.

On Monday, the aftermath of the explosion, Dante calls for help, Laura says Cyrus is coming after her, and Sonny says, don’t die on him. He could be referring to any number of people.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Britt plays pool at The Floating Rib. Jason says, nice shot, and she can’t believe he just paid her a compliment.

Alexis is working on her drinking, when Sam comes by. Sam knocks incessantly, and Alexis pulls herself together, and hides her glass and bottle. She asks to what she owes this pleasant surprise, and Sam says she told Alexis that she’d be checking up on her. Alexis says, a heads up would have been nice, and Sam asks, why? So she could have time to stash her bottles, or has she sobered up enough to realize she needs help?

Julian comes out of the elevator at the hospital, and sees Ava. He asks if she’s heard anything about Ryan’s condition, and she says, if there’s any justice in the world, he’s dead already. But life isn’t always fair. Julian says, is he alive? Is he awake? Is he talking? Is he giving Julian up to Sonny? What?

Sonny tends the fireplace in the living room. Taggert knocks at the door, and Sonny lets him in. Sonny says no one’s there, and Taggert asks if he can borrow a cup of sugar.

At The Rib, Peter asks Lulu how things went with her source, but she says he was more interested in hitting on her than spilling secrets about Cyrus. She says she and Jackie roughed out the first piece. It definitely looks like Cyrus is using GH to launder drug money, even without her ex-source to back it up. He takes a look, and says there’s no way he can publish this.

Finn answers the phone, thinking it’s Robert, but it’s Anna. She tells him that he’s in danger. If he’s at the house, she needs him to get out. Alex walks in with Maxie, and Anna asks if Finn can hear her. She asks him to talk to her. Alex (pretending to be Anna) asks Finn if they’re up for company. Maxie caught up with her, and offered to go over some wedding details.

Maxie says if now is a bad time, feel free to kick her out. Anna asks if Finn is still there. What’s going on? Finn says, guess what, Peter? I found her. Maxie just walked in the door with your mother. Anna says, understood. Keep them there as long as he can; they’re on their way. She loves him. She tells Robert, Alex brought Maxie back to the house.

Peter tells Lulu, there’s no way Jackie said that story was ready. They have no proof to back up their allegations. Lulu says she didn’t have time to show it to Jackie. Jackie had to fly out to cover a breaking story, but they did discuss the possible corruption at GH. He says she doesn’t quote a single source. She had no one to go one record, no evidence, and no documentation. Is she trying to get them sued? She says she’s sorry. She lost her game when Dante came back. He asks if she needs to take personal time, but she says, no. Cyrus is a threat to Port Charles, and has to be stopped. He says he loves that she’s passionate about this. It’s what makes her a good journalist, but what makes her a great journalist is when she backs it up with proof, and actual facts that will hold up in court. She asks what they do. So they do nothing while Cyrus burns down Port Charles? He asks if he said that.

Sonny tells Taggert, Carly and Josslyn are out for the night, and the guard will let him know if anyone shows up. So they have a couple hours to kill. He pours two drinks. Taggert says he never thought he’d be living next door to Sonny, or that Sonny would be protecting him. Sonny says he’s protecting Taggert’s daughter, and Taggert says he appreciates that. He says he’s sorry about Sonny’s father, and Sonny thanks him. Taggert asks how Sonny acquired the property, and Sonny says he bought it so Jax wouldn’t move in. Taggert says, that makes sense, given their history, and Sonny says, it’s been standing empty since the last owner died. He sits, and Taggert asks if he knew them. Sonny says it was his ex-fiancé Connie. She was murdered. Taggert says he’s sorry, and asks if they got her killer. Sonny says, it’s a bit more complicated than that.

Ava tells Julian, Ryan is out of surgery, but still unconscious. He lost a lot of blood getting that knife in the back. Julian says, so if he dies, it’s not totally unexpected. She says she knows what he’s thinking; stop it. There’s a guard outside Ryan’s room, and no one gets in or out without being stopped. They go into an office, and she says she does have the possibility of good news though. She heard the nurses talking. Ryan’s brain was deprived of oxygen because of the blood loss. They don’t know the extent of the damage yet. Julian says, Ryan could be a vegetable, and Ava says, it’s possible. Julian asks where the chapel is; he wants to start praying. Ava suggests he pray they get their hands on the letter. He says, Ryan didn’t have it on him? and she says she saw the warden give the cops Ryan’s belongings, and there was no letter. He says, they more than got the job done, and she says, they? What has he done?

Jason says he’s surprised Britt has time to play pool. Monica worked long hours when she was Chief of Staff. Britt says she’s been at GH since dawn, and will be back in the trenches until 8. She’s taking a break from all the sniping and dirty looks. She’s sure he’s heard she’s not the most popular person there. He says he’s heard. She says, that’s why she plays pool. It’s fine if you play well with others, but it’s fine if you play alone. She prefers to go solo. He says he thinks she hasn’t found the right person to play pool with.

Sam says Molly and Kristina have noticed Alexis is suddenly unavailable. She isn’t picking up the phone or answering her texts. Sam hasn’t told them she’s relapsed. She was hoping to get Alexis to a meeting or detox. Alexis says, detox? Isn’t that a little premature? She’s not living in an alley yet. Sam says, not yet. Does Alexis realize Sam took the kids to the Quartermaines’ and Olivia was there? Alexis says she wanted to join them, but Sam was late. Sam says, Alexis was early. Olivia didn’t want to say anything, but she found a bottle of booze in Alexis’s purse. Alexis says, Olivia was rummaging around in her purse? What business is it of hers? Sam says, it’s Olivia’s business because Alexis is in her house with Leo and a bottle of booze hidden in her purse. Alexis asks if Olivia told Ned, and Sam says, if Alexis is really worried about Ned’s reaction, they really have a problem. Alexis says the only problem she has right now is Sam. When did she become such a nag? Sam takes the bottle and glass out of the cupboard, and asks if Alexis wants to explain this.

Alexis says Sam isn’t allowed to rummage in her cupboard, and Sam asks, why hide it? Alexis says because she doesn’t want another lecture. Sam says, please tell her what’s going on. The last time Alexis fell off the wagon, Julian took her to a meeting and it was one drink, because she loved herself and her family. Does she not care anymore? Alexis says she just wants to feel good. Can’t Sam just let her feel good? Sam says, sorry. Neil wouldn’t want this. Alexi says, who knows what Neil wanted? Sam says she knows Alexis thinks she didn’t know him, and Alexis says she didn’t. if her this is her only way to cope, can’t Sam just sit back and let her do that, and accept it? Sam says, so when her children are there sleeping, Alexis can nearly burn the house down again? She can’t accept that. Alexis says Sam is exaggerating; blowing one incident out of proportion. Sam says, it’s no exaggeration that Alexis is a risk to her children when she’s drinking. Alexis says, that’s a laugh. Sam sleeping with a hitman doesn’t make her look like mother of year.

Jason is an excellent shot, and Britt tells him, the object of the game is for them to take turns. She supposes she shouldn’t be surprised he’s a pool shark. What’s his secret? He takes another shot, and she says remind her not to get in his crosshairs. Or is she already, working with big bad Cyrus? Jason says, is she? and she says she’s not taking sides between Cyrus and Sonny. The only side she’s on is her own. Jason says, Cyrus did hire her. Mind telling him how that happened? Britt takes her shot, and she’s as good as Jason is.

Ava asks Julian, who are they, and what did he do? He says he needed someone who could gain access to Pentenville, and take care of their Ryan problem. She says, so it’s their problem now, and he says, so he made a bargain. She wonders why she has the feeling Julian got the worst of it, and he says, Ryan was going to tell Sonny that he knew about Michael’s son, and had Nelle’s letter as proof. He was desperate. Ava wonders when was the last time he wasn’t. He’s dug such a hole for himself, and every time she looks, it’s deeper. Every action he’s taken has made it worse. Now he’s made a bargain. What exactly did he offer to have Ryan killed, and what happens when they want to collect?  

Lulu asks if Peter has a plan B for taking down Cyrus, and he says, the human interest angle. He hears there’s a record number of OD cases at the hospital. Who were they? They had jobs and families; who are they leaving behind? How is the GH staff coping; the police, the paramedics? They just did a telethon for frontline workers. Is the drug epidemic causing them to focus on that, rather than other concerns? Lulu says, less accusations, more comment on the human toll, and he tells her to get as many people on the record as possible. His phone dings, and he says he has another meeting. He thinks Lulu’s story will be inspiring. He leaves, and Lulu says, maybe, but will it put Cyrus back in prison?

Maxie thanks Finn for asking Peter to be a groomsman. He’s very touched. Alex says, they’ll be one big happy family, and Finn says he just remembered that he has to get groomsmen’s gifts. He could use some advice. Maxie says, luckily, he has an expert there, and Finn asks if Alex/Anna minds putting the kettle on, while Maxie fills him in on the appropriate gifts. Alex says, of course (🍷), and goes to the kitchen. Maxie says she’s thinking cufflinks, and he says she needs to go right now.

Robert wonders how many possible hostages there are, and asks Anna, what about Violet? She says Violet is at a sleepover, and Robert says he wants to call in a SWAT team, but Anna says, no. Alex won’t hesitate to kill Finn. She thinks Anna is dead, and doesn’t realize Finn is on to her. Robert asks how she wants to do this, and she says they should go in together. She thinks that’s the best chance they have.

Finn starts to push Maxie toward the door, and she asks what he’s doing. He tells her, just do what he says. Leave. She says he’s scaring her, and he says, that’s not Anna; it’s her sister. Alex walks in, gun drawn, and says, he’s much smarter than she gave him credit for. Really? I highly doubt an infectious disease specialist is stupid, and they’re probably good at solving puzzles.

Britt tells Jason, it’s a mystery. Cyrus offered her a job as Chief of Staff, and it was too good to turn down. Jason says, maybe. Or maybe something else happened that brought her back. She ask if he’s psychic, and he says he just pays attention. Lulu comes by, and asks if there’s room for one more. She has a score to settle with Britt.   

Sam asks why Alexis brings up Jason whenever Alexis wants to hurt her. Alexis says Sam isn’t the only one who gets to throw stones. How many times has Jason put the kids in danger? And what about Sonny with Kristina and Michael? She won’t even ask about Morgan. That’s obvious. Sam says, that’s cruel, but Alexis says, it’s a statement of fact. They’ve hurt people and worse, and when the enemy retaliates, they threaten their loved ones. Sam tells Alexis, listen to herself deflecting. This has nothing to do with Sonny or Jason. Alexis chose to pick up a drink and hurt her family, which includes Scout and Danny. Alexis says she’d never hurt her grandchildren, and Sam says, really? She wouldn’t visit them drunk, or drive them to the park after downing a bottle of vodka? Alexis says Sam knows that would never happen, but Sam says, actually, she doesn’t. If Alexis doesn’t agree right now to get help, she’ll never allow Alexis around her kids again.

Julian tells Ava, stopping Ryan was worth it, but she says she doubts he’ll feel that way when the favor is called in. She doesn’t know who the devil is, but Julian sold his soul to him. He says, better than Sonny having him killed. Now the letter has disappeared, and he can finally stop looking over his shoulder. She says she knows that look. Ryan’s not his only problem. He asks if she remembers the guy on the pier. He stopped Julian from shooting Nelle. She says Julian told her his gun went off, and he accidentally hit the guy. Julian says, he recovered, and he’s not only alive and well, he knows Ava’s intern. Ava says, Trina? and Julian says, he left this at the bar. He shows her the phone with the picture of Trina and Taggert, and says, that’s the guy who jumped him. She says, oh my God.

Sonny says it feels like Connie’s murder happened yesterday, and Taggert says he doesn’t know how Sonny can forgive the woman who murdered his fiancé. Sonny says he hasn’t forgiven her, but they have an understanding. He has no choice. She’s Avery’s mother, and he’d do anything for the sake of his daughter and kids. Taggert says, on that, they agree. Sonny says, Ava’s life was dismantled by Ryan Chamberlain. He’s not excusing what she did to Connie, but it balances the scales a little, and gave him insight into why she does what she does. Taggert still thinks Ava should go to prison, and Sonny says, that’s easy for him to say. It’s not his family at stake. Taggert says he’s right about that, as much as it kills him to say Sonny is right. Sonny says he’ll have to tell Carly that Taggert is alive and living next door, but Taggert says, the list of people who know is already too long. Epiphany and Jordan, and now the bartender on Halloween. Sonny looks at him.

Alex says this happened faster than she planned, and Finn asks if she thinks anyone is going to believe she’s Anna. Maxie doesn’t understand why Alex is doing this, and Finn says, because she’s a narcissist with a borderline personality. Alex says don’t make her angry, and Finn says, let Maxie go. She has nothing to do with this. Alex says, Maxie is carrying Peter’s baby. Finn is expendable. Maxie asks what Alex wants with her baby, and Alex says she’ll explain when they’re on the open water. They’re going on a trip. Maxie says she’s not going anywhere, and strongly advises Alex to run as far and as fast as she can. Once Robert catches up to her… Finn tries to grab the gun from Alex, and they struggle. Maxie yells, no!

Alexis asks if Sam is really saying she can’t see her grandchildren, and Sam says she has no choice if Alexis keeps drinking. Alexis says, she’d never hurt her grandchildren; she loves them. Sam knows she loves them, and they love her too. That’s what’s making this so hard. If Alexis decides the glass she’s holding is more important than her grandchildren, Sam can’t help her. Alexis says, so Sam is telling her, if she doesn’t go to a meeting or detox, and satisfy Sam’s demands for her life, she’s not going to let her see her grandchildren. Sam says, yes. She’d do anything to protect her children. Alexis says, except leave Jason.

Britt tells Lulu, long time. She’s surprised they haven’t run into each other. Lulu says, that was no accident, and Britt says, have at it. She’s bracing herself for another lecture on what a terrible person she is. Lulu says, Britt being Chief of Staff at GH, no wonder the hospital is such a mess. Britt tells Jason, see why she prefers to play alone? It’s time for her to get back to work, and make the hospital more of a mess. She leaves, and Lulu says, Britch is the perfect name. She thinks she’ll do an exposé on Britt. Jason says she’d be making a mistake.

Sonny says Taggert didn’t tell him that he was spotted, and Taggert says he didn’t have a chance before Jason hustled him there. Sonny asks, what happened? and Taggert says, Trina and her friends were hanging out, and the mask for his costume allowed him to follow them. The bartender suspected something, and when they left, he and he bartender got into it. The bartender ripped off his mask, and Taggert recognized him as the guy at the pier; the one he stopped from shooting that girl. Sonny asks if he’s sure it was the same guy, and Taggert says, no question. Sonny asks where he works, and Taggert says, Charlie’s. He acted like he ran the place.

Julian asks if Ava knows the man in the picture, and she asks if he’s sure this is the man. He says he didn’t get a good look, but when he saw him, it all came together and clicked. Who is he? Trina’s uncle or something? Ava says, or something. Julian is an idiot. That’s Trina’s father. Julian says she told him that Trina’s father had been killed in a shootout with Cyrus, and she says she’d thought so. So did Trina. Julian says Taggert doesn’t look six feet under to him.

Robert and Anna go into Anna’s house. Anna sees Finn on the floor, and runs to him. She sees he’s been shot, and she tells him, talk to her.

Alex has Maxie tied up on a boat (The Haunted Star?). She says, isn’t technology marvelous? It would have been tedious to try and hold a gun on her and steer at the same time, but she let autopilot handle it. Maxie says she has two other children, and they’re going to wonder what happened to her if she doesn’t get home soon. They’re sweet and innocent, and Alex is going to ruin their lives if she hurts her. Alex says she’d never hurt Maxie. She’d never put that precious cargo in jeopardy. Maxie asks why she’s doing this, and Alex tells her, relax. The helicopter will meet them soon. Maxie asks how long Alex is planning on keeping her hostage, but Alex says Maxie’s not her hostage; Maxie is her guest. Maxie laughs, and says, okay. She’s never had a hostess hold a gun on her before. Alex loves her sense of humor. They’re going to have so much fun together. Just one big happy family.

Robert talks to the paramedics, telling them Finn has been shot, while Anna tells Finn, stay with her. Don’t try to talk. He says, Alex took Maxie, and she asks, where? He says, the harbor, and Anna looks at Robert. 

Alex comes back, and says, good. Maxie is still there. It won’t be long before their scheduled rendezvous. Maxie asks who they’re meeting, and Alex says, friends of hers. Maxie says, none of this makes any sense. Peter is Alex’s nephew, and she’s never wanted anything to do with him. What sparked the sudden family togetherness? Alex says, she and Maxie have more in common than Maxie realizes. Peter has a lot of secrets. In fact, Alex is willing to let Maxie in on a secret of her own.

Robert puts out an APB on Alex, and tells them to consider her armed and dangerous. She’s got a pregnant hostage, one Maxie Jones. He wants them around the waterfront, since she’ll try to escape by boat. Anna tells Finn that she loves him very much, and to stay with them. She jets, and the paramedics tell Robert that they’re ready. He asks where Anna is, and a paramedic tells him, she left. He says, damn that woman.

Sonny says, Taggert thinks the guy runs Charlie’s? and Taggert says, it looked that way. Does Sonny know him? Sonny says, Avery’s mother? It’s her lowlife brother. He shows Taggert an article in The Invader, and asks if that’s the girl he saw that night. Taggert says, yeah, that’s her, and Sonny wonders what Julian has gotten himself into.

Lulu says she knows Jason was gone most of the time Britt was in Port Charles. He didn’t experience her lies and manipulations first hand. She’s not a good person. Jason says, the point is she works for Cyrus at GH. Cyrus has already fired people close to him and Sonny. Lulu isn’t doing herself any favors by attacking Britt. Britt doesn’t care what anyone thinks, but what Lulu thinks will draw attention to Cyrus. Lulu says, good, but Jason says, it’s not good. Cyrus has only fired and reassigned people at the hospital. They don’t know how far he might go. Lulu asks if Jason thinks Cyrus would come after her, and he says he thinks she should take a step back and let things unwind. Jason’s phone rings. It’s Sonny, who says he just received an interesting piece of information. He needs Jason to do something. Jason listens, and says he’s on it, and Lulu says it sounds like he has to go. Jason says, seriously, just be careful, and leaves.

Lulu sits, and says, so Peter wants a different angle. How about this one? She starts to type on her tablet.   

Ava says, so Taggert survived the shooting, and somehow faked his death. Poor Trina. She’s been grieving her father for no reason. How could Taggert let her go on like that? Julian guesses that’s why he was hanging out in Charlie’s, to be close to her, but Ava says, if he’s in Port Charles, he can’t keep lurking around. Sooner or later, someone else is going to see him. Did he recognize Julian? Julian says, Taggert said he wasn’t the guy at the pier, but he thought Taggert was lying. She says that means Taggert can connect Julian to being with Nelle the night of Wiley’s kidnapping. Julian says if Taggert wants to be dead, he doubts Taggert will report him, since he’ll have to reveal himself. Ava says, unless… Unless he finds a way to tell Sonny, Sonny puts the pieces together, and figures out Julian kidnapped Wiley. Julian says he was trying to kill Nelle; not help her. Taggert knows that. She says, but why would he want to kill Nelle? That’s what Sonny will want to know. (Not to mention, Julian was admitted to being roped into marrying her later.) Ava says, Ryan could recover, and tell Sonny about Julian’s part in the baby switch. Julian can’t stay there. She wants him to run. Disappear while he still has the chance to live.

Sonny says Taggert’s got to go; he has guests coming. Taggert says it wasn’t his intent to be spotted. He just wanted to see his daughter. Sonny gets it, and says, in the long run, it’s probably better this way. Now the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

Julian tells Ava, the whole point of eliminating Ryan was so he didn’t have to leave his life behind. She says, we can’t always get what we want, and Julian says, then find a way for him to stay. She can start by checking on Ryan. She says she doesn’t take orders from him. She’s tempted to turn him over to Sonny herself. She walks down the hall, and Jason comes out of the elevator. He tells Julian, Sonny wants to see him, but Julian says he’s busy. Jason says, let’s go, and steers him to the elevator. Ava sees them go into the elevator together, and says, oh, God. Sonny knows.  

Lulu types, an unnamed source on the hospital staff claims changes occurred due to a rivalry between the Chairman of the Board, Cyrus Renault, and local businessman, Sonny Corinthos. Mr. Renault says he’s a philanthropist, but how does he explain demoting and firing long time hospital staff who are connected to Mr. Corinthos? I’d say Peter is going to want to print that even less than the article she showed him.

Sam says, for the thousandth time, this has nothing to do with Jason, and Alexis says Sam is in denial. For the record, the ultimatum usually comes after the intervention. Sam forgot the circle of chairs, the deadly serious loved ones, the counselor, and the long tragic stories they read, telling her what a horrible person she is, and how she ruined everyone’s lives. Does Sam want her to schedule a do-over? Does next week work? Sam says, clearly, Alexis has made her decision, and she’s going to have to deal with the consequences. She’s having lunch with Kristina and Molly tomorrow, and she’s going to tell them Alexis is drinking again. She’s sorry. She tried to help. Alexis needs it, and she just wishes Alexis was able to take it from her. She leaves, and Alexis goes back to her drink.

Finn is brought into the hospital, and a Britt says he needs to be stabilized. The paramedics take Finn away, and Peter asks Robert where Maxie is. He got Robert’s message; was she hurt? Robert says, Anna has gone after Maxie and Alex; that’s all he knows. Peter asks if Finn was shot, and Robert says they found him bleeding out in his living room. That reminds him, someone is going to have to tell Finn’s brother.

Maxie says she’s not interested in Alex’s secrets, and Alex says, not even when they concern Peter? Maxie says, especially when they concern Peter. It’s all lies. Alex says, denial will only get you so far. She learned that the hard way; so has her sister. The boat rocks violently, and Alex falls, dropping the gun.  

Peter goes in to see Finn. He asks if Finn can hear him. Was Maxie hurt? Anna is trying to find her. Finn says, Anna wants to much to be his mother.

Maxie asks, what was that? and Alex says, something hit them. Anna comes in, and she and Alex face each other, guns drawn.

On Monday, Chase says tell him that his brother is going to live, Robert asks Valentin where he thinks he’s going, Anna and Alex have a shootout, and Peter calls for help.

What I Watched Today

(rambling, random thoughts & annoyingly detailed recaps from real time TV watching)

General Hospital

Jason meets Sonny at the gym, and Sonny says Sasha’s been meeting with Cyrus, and Carly seems to think she’s using drugs. If she is, he broke the damn truce.

Julian tussles with Darth Vader at an otherwise empty Charlie’s. Darth’s mask comes off, and it’s Taggert. Julian says, You. I know you.

Ryan comes into the visiting room. They pick up the phones. He says he’s surprised to see her on this stormy Halloween night. Is this a trick, or a treat? She says, a treat, and he asks if she did what he said. She says she did. She divorced Nikolas.

Elizabeth tells Nikolas, when he and Ava were playing Franco and her, they were playing him and Ava. She was the one blackmailing him.

Franco asks Terry if Elizabeth asked her to check on him, but she says Elizabeth doesn’t know she’s there. He asks what’s going on, and if she’s seeing a bunch of kids today. She says as much as she’d love to hang out, she’s there in a professional capacity.

Peter asks who it is on the phone, and a female voice asks if he doesn’t recognize her. It’s his old friend, Helena Cassadine. He’s stunned, and tells Maxie and Spinelli, work emergency. He jets to the hallway, and says she’s dead. She says, is she? Then she’s certain chosen the perfect night to deal with some unfinished business. And they have much unsettled between them.

Valentin asks if Anna has an answer, and she says, Faison doesn’t have the genetic marker for rheumatoid arthritis. Which means she’s not Peter’s mother. Alex is.

Valentin tells Anna to sit; it’s a lot to process. She asks how he felt when he found out his whole life was lie. When he found out Mikkos wasn’t his father, and Helena was his mother. He says, like the bottom dropped out of the world, and she says she kind of feels like that. He tells her, take a minute. There’s no more shame; no more guilt. She didn’t sleep with Faison. She didn’t have pregnancy, or give Peter up for adoption. She says, it still feels real, and he says, it isn’t. She says she blamed herself for sleep with Faison and giving away his child. She put herself through hell, and for what? It’s nothing but lies.

Peter asks who is she really, and why is she doing this? Helena says, they both know she’s eluded death before. Why should now be any different? He says because she contacted him. What about Nikolas? Or Spencer? Or her son Valentin? She says she needs him, not them. He asks, why? and she says she needs someone to help her stay dead until she’s ready to reveal herself. Nikolas and Valentin can’t be trusted, but she has leverage over Peter. She can expose his role in abducting Drew in Afghanistan. He says he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, and she says she has documentation to spark his memory. He asks what she wants, and she says, a meeting. Call when he’s ready to talk. If she doesn’t hear from him, there will be consequences. Maxie and Spinelli join him, and Maxie asks if he’s okay. Spinelli says he looks like he’s seen a ghost.

Jason tells Sonny, a lot more patients have been admitted to the hospital for ODs. Sonny says it’s not uncommon in the country overall, but Jason says it’s uncommon in Port Charles. He wonders if the opiates Neil OD’d on came from Cyrus. If Cyrus is bringing drugs into Port Charles, he found the ultimate way and the ultimate route. Sonny says, the hospital.

Julian says he knows Taggert from the pier. He was there when Julian was trying to stop Nelle from taking Wiley. Taggert says he doesn’t know what Julian is talking about. He’s not that guy. Julian apologizes, and says let him make it up. What’s his poison? On the house. Taggert takes off, and Julian runs after him.

Ryan says Nikolas was never her Prince Charming, and she says he thinks he is? He says he knows he is. She can’t expect him to take her word; he needs proof. She takes out the fake papers, and holds them up against the glass, saying, signed, seal, and delivered. She flashes back to telling Nikolas that they’ll have to do something about the divorce papers, and he says, it doesn’t matter. She didn’t think he’d risk everything, did she? Ava tells Ryan, it’s what he asked for; her divorce papers. Signed by both her and Nikolas, sealed by the state of New York, and delivered to him. She’s officially single, without a title, and the Cassadine fortune, all for him. He says it wasn’t for him. She did it to save her brother’s life. She says, if he thinks so. Now it’s his turn. Give her Nelle’s letter.

Nikolas asks Elizabeth if she’s covering for Franco. Was Franco having him followed? She says she led him on with Franco’s knowledge and support, and he asks, why? She says, the night of the Nurses Ball, she overheard Ava telling Nina that she was trying to push them together, because if Nikolas cheated, the post-nup would kick in. Everything started to make sense. She’d felt like she and Franco were drifting apart, but they were being pulled apart him by him. He admits he pushed Ava toward Franco, and she says he played a game with her marriage and her happiness, when he swore he wanted their friendship back. He says he’s sorry, but she says he can’t apologize for using her. He says he didn’t use her; the feelings were genuine. She says she loves Franco, but for some reason, he can’t accept that. When Scotty suggested they blackmail him and Ava, she was all in. She thought they would be taught a lesson, and she could take back her life and marriage. 

Franco says, propensity doesn’t sound great, and asks Terry where Portia is. Terry says Portia asked her to review his CT scan, and he says, start with the good news. She says she confirmed Portia’s finding that there’s a malignant growth in his frontal lobe, and he says his brain tumor is back.

Jason asks if Sonny wants him to get Brando out of Cyrus’s organization before it blows up, but Sonny says, nothing has blown up yet, especially not the hospital. Jason says he knows the drugs are run through legitimate pharmacy companies, but Sonny says if they get on that, the Feds will come in, and they don’t need the attention. Jason says the hospital makes Cyrus look legitimate, and he knows they won’t put innocent people in harm’s way. Sonny says, they need to take their time getting Cyrus’s drug operation out of Port Charles. The lights go out.

Valentin tells Anna not to pick up the glass with her hands, and asks if she has a dustpan. She says, in the kitchen, when the lights go out. She says, oh no, but he says, it’s all right; they can pick up it up later when the lights come back on. He asks if she needs to check on Violet, but she says Violet is out trick-or-treating with Chase, and then has a sleepover. He asks if she has a flashlight, and she says she’s not going break, but he says she’s not unbreakable. She’s been through a shock, and needs to feel it. She says, it’s not just that Peter isn’t her son. Alex is probably laughing at her. He says she’s laughing at him too. She knows he gave Peter to Faison, thinking he was Anna’s son, and knew the shame he felt. He wanted to be connected to the boy, and she knew the resentment he felt toward the only woman he cared about. She knew there was nothing he could do, and she was laughing at both of them. Anna says, maybe they didn’t deserve that kind of pain, but they’re better equipped to deal with it than Peter. She’s terrified what it’s going to do to Peter, and that he’ll lose faith in himself and his life. Valentin says, Peter is a big boy. They need to find Alex, and eliminate the threat. Anna says, Alex knows Maxie is carrying her grandchild, and they need to be prepared.

Peter tells Maxie that he wanted to go live with a story, and time was of the essence. Now the server is down. Maxie asks if Spinelli can fix it, but Peter says, IT is on it. She says she thought he might leave her stranded on her birthday. The storm probably canceled Georgie’s plans for trick-or-treating, and she was hoping for pictures. Spinelli says, Georgie does make a beautiful Elsa. Maxie says she’s going to check on Georgie, even though Georgie is with her mom. Spinelli says he hopes she only gets the happiness she deserves, and Maxie says she will.   

Franco says, so his tumor is back, and Terry tells him, it seems to have reoccurred in the same area. She’s sorry. He says he doesn’t have any symptoms, and he’s nothing like the person he was last time. She asks if he’s had any vivid dreams or nightmares. Besides fainting, has anything unusual or unexpected happened? He flashes back to his nightmare about Ava, and thinks about when Ava’s painting was defaced. He says, none; just fainting. She says, the symptoms are likely to increase as the tumor progresses, and the preliminary findings show that the tumor is inoperable.    

Nikolas tells Elizabeth, he paid Scotty by check, but it was never cashed. Did she change her mind about blackmailing him? She says she realized she went too far, and Nikolas says, she can try as hard as she can, but she can’t beat him. And he’s very grateful for that.

Ryan asks, what letter? and she says he promised to give her Nelle’s letter when she divorced Nikolas. He says Nelle wrote him so many letters. One describing her beautiful new house, and a very sad one where she said how much she loved her son, and was going to be devastated if she didn’t get custody. And one telling him that Julian knew about Brad replacing Willow’s poor deceased newborn with Sonny’s grandson. She says he knows that’s the one she means. He tells the guard, be a pal and get Mrs. Cass… Sorry. Get Miss Jerome the letter he gave him earlier. Ava says he has the guards doing him favors, and he says, considering he doesn’t know when he’ll see the outside world again, it helps to pay certain people to do certain things. The guard gives Ava an envelope that’s been opened, and Ryan asks if it’s what she wanted. She says he knows it is, and I wonder why she isn’t checking to make sure it is. She tells him, take a good long look. it’s the last one he’s ever going to get. She hangs up the phone, and takes out the letter. It says, do you think I’m stupid? Ryan says, oops. What did I just say? I can’t believe Ava is that stupid.

Franco wonders why the tumor can’t be removed, and Terry says her preliminary assessment is that they can’t remove it, but it’s just the first step in a complex process. They need to take more tests; a biopsy, and a PET scan. They have to get all the viable information before discussing options. Franco says, if they do all that, and still can’t operate, what happens to him?

Nikolas tells Elizabeth, he was hell bent on winning back the Cassadine fortune. He didn’t care what he did or who he did it to. That’s how he got in this mess in the first place. She said both of them were blackmailed. Does that mean there are compromising pictures of Franco and Ava?

Ryan asks if Ava really thought she could fool him with fake divorce papers and no wedding ring. His cellmate was a forger, and taught him all the tricks of the trade. Ava insists it’s not a forgery, but he says she can’t convince him it’s real, or that she’s divorced that cloying puppy dog. He starts yelling that the women he’s loved are all alike. She thinks she can use him because he loves her. The guard grabs him, and he yells that she’s a liar and traitor. She’ll pay. He screams her name as the guard drags him out.

Julian sees Taggert’s mask on the floor, and picks it up, saying, who the hell are you, buddy? He sees the phone, and looks at the picture of Taggert and Trina.

Sonny tells Jason to get a flashlight, and Jason says he’ll check on the generator. Jason leaves, and someone comes up behind Sonny. Without turning around, Sonny asks, who are you? He turns around, drawing his gun, and sees it’s Taggert.

Valentin tells Anna, he left a message with an associate who’s an excellent tracker. No more delays or second thoughts. They need to find Alex. Anna asks if they’re going back to their original plan to lure Alex to Port Charles, but Valentin says, that’s not enough. They need to neutralize her. She asks if it’s strategy or revenge because Alex hurt him, and he says he doesn’t think that’s relevant. Alex was prepared to kill her, and still wants her dead. She thinks he should go now, but he says, when he’s gone, nothing changes. It’s a question of who lives; her or Alex. He’s playing the game too, and chooses her.   

Maxie tells Peter, the storm is moving. Georgie and James will still get in some trick-or-treating. Can they get in some more birthday celebration, or does he need to check the server? He says his phone is off. He has it on silent. He’s all hers. She says, sooner or later, the storm will clear up, and he says, it certainly will. We see an incoming call to Peter from Anna.

Spinelli sneaks down an office corridor, and goes into a room. Sam is sitting at a computer, and startles him. He apologizes for keeping her in suspense; he wanted to check on his daughter’s Halloween plans. She says, did it work? and he says, like a charm. She smiles.

Anna gets Peter’s voicemail, and says, damn you, Alex.

Peter asks what Maxie is thinking, and she says, not only does Peter make a handsome groom, he’s going to make an equally handsome groomsman at Anna’s wedding. He says she’ll be an equally beautiful bridesmaid, and a stunning bride. She says, that has a nice ring. She meant what she said about the wedding and the baby. They have a lot to forward to next year.

Sam thanks Spinelli, saying, it’s brilliant. Once they got real usable audio, they were able to generate a duplicate voice, and all the rest fell into place. Peter thinks Helena is alive and well. Spinelli says, it’s reasonable to assume Helena was aware of Drew’s abduction in Afghanistan, and most likely recruited Peter to facilitate the order in the first place. Sam says, anyone who’s found out about it, ends up dead. Peter’s tied off a lot of loose ends. Spinelli says, if he thinks Helena is a threat, he’ll want to tie her off permanently. Then they can show Maxie who her fiancé really is.

Sonny tells Taggert, nice of him to dress up, and Taggert says, happy Halloween. Sonny asks if he isn’t too old for trick-or-treating. Jason comes back, and Sonny tells him, check the building security; make sure no one is lurking around. He asks Taggert why he came back, and Taggert says he heard what’s been going on. How many have to die before they do something about Cyrus? Sonny says he can’t abracadabra and make Cyrus disappear. Even if he could, they don’t know Cyrus is responsible for Neil’s OD. Taggert says, the body count keeps rising, and he’s not watching while his daughter gets caught in the crossfire again next time.

Julian looks at the phone and asks himself, what’s the connection? Is there a connection? Ava comes in, and he says, that doesn’t look like a happy face. She says she doesn’t have happy news. She needs a double vodka straight. He asks, what happened with Ryan? and she says, Ryan saw right through the phony papers. He’s not happy. She chugs the vodka.

Nikolas says he and Elizabeth have been friends for so long, he can read every expression. What happened with Franco and Ava? She says, they kissed, and he says, spontaneous combustion? She says he manipulated them like she did him. The plan worked. Both he and Ava broke the contract, so neither one of them can use it against the other. He’ll have to find another way to end his marriage… if that’s what he’s going to do. He has to go, and she says, don’t tell her that he’s sorry; show her.    

Terry tells Franco, the side effects will increase as the tumor grows. His sense of taste and smell; he might lose time, or have a personality shift. He asks if there’s a time limit, but she says, not until they run all the tests. She knows it’s a lot to take in. She’ll give him some time to talk to Elizabeth. He asks her not to tell Elizabeth about it; not yet. She says Elizabeth is his wife, and it’s going to impact her life. She has the right to know. He says Terry thinks he doesn’t know that? He needs her to promise him that she won’t say anything to Elizabeth about this.

Terry asks how he can’t tell Elizabeth? They’re potentially talking life and death. He says, please. He just needs a little time. She says the doctors and nurses will do everything in their power to help him, but he has to meet them halfway. Let his family go through it with him. He says he doesn’t want it at all. Cameron is looking at college; Aiden is his little sous chef; and he helped Jake with his costume. Jake wants to be Jack Sparrow; that’s where his head is at. They have beautiful, loving hearts, and he doesn’t want them to worry or be sad. He’s asking her to not tell Elizabeth for a little while. There are things he needs to work out first. Elizabeth comes in, and says, sorry it took her so long. She asks what Terry is doing there.

Ava slides her glass down the bar for a refill. Julian asks how Ryan saw through her deception, and she says, he claimed his cell mate was a forger. She thinks he was expecting a double-cross, and he’s furious. He was making threats that he’s going to tell Sonny. Nikolas walks in, and she says, as usual, Julian is complaining about unreliable liquor distributors. Nikolas says, as usual, she’s lying to him. She says she went to Pentenville, and brought the phony papers to convince Ryan that they were divorced. He asks if it worked, and she says, what does he think? It doesn’t matter. Ryan can’t hurt her; not physically anyway. But he can do damage to her family. Nikolas says, Julian, and she says she doesn’t suppose Nikolas will take pity on her and divorce her for real.

Sonny says the point of Taggert playing dead was to protect Trina; Cyrus would have no leverage. If someone sees him, Trina will be in more danger than ever. He needs to stay gone. Sonny promised he’d protect her. Taggert says, he doesn’t doubt that, but if there’s a full-scale war, Sonny might not be able to keep his promise. Sonny asks if that means Taggert is staying, and Taggert says he’s just giving Sonny a heads up that he’s going to protect his daughter. Sonny says, it has to be on his terms. He’s going to stash Taggert where he and his people can keep an eye on him.

Valentin calls Anna, and says, Alex used Berlin as a starting point. She was there, and must have left a trail. Anna says, that was weeks ago; she could be anywhere now. He says he’s afraid so, and she thanks him for the update. She says she’ll be in touch. The lights come back on, and when Anna turns around, Alex is there in the black witch costume. She says, happy Halloween, sister, and knocks Anna out.

Franco tells Elizabeth that Terry stopped by to make sure he’s all right. Elizabeth thanks Terry, and Franco says, the technical diagnosis was that he’s dehydrated and exhausted. She hopes Terry read him the riot act, and Terry says, Elizabeth knows her; always looking out for Biz. Elizabeth says they have to get going. Violet is spending the night, and they’re going to have a full house. Franco says if a bunch of kids are going to be there, that means he can eat all the candy.

Nikolas tells Ava, sorry. He sees she’s taken off her ring, and she says, it was just for Ryan. She’s not ready to divorce him. He says, sorry it didn’t work, but he’ll find another way to get Ryan off her brother’s back; he promises. Julian approaches their table, and says, isn’t this the cutest? Maybe they could take their eyes off each other, and make an actual plan. Nikolas says, as soon as Julian tells him what Nelle said. He gets silence, and says he didn’t think so. He says he has calls to return, and steps away from the table. Julian tells Ava, there’s nothing to stop Ryan from showing the letter to Sonny, and Ava says, as soon as he does, he’ll have no power over her. Julian says, Ava betrayed Ryan, and he’s going to want to punish her. Sonny is the perfect revenge.

Sonny excuses himself to take a call privately. He answers, and it’s a collect call from Ryan in Pentenville.   

Taggert wonders if Sonny is going to put him in a safe house, but Jason says, safe houses can be compromised, especially if someone is staying there a while. Taggert asks where he’s going, and Jason says, Sonny bought Kate Howard’s old place. It’s adjacent to Sonny’s house, so Sonny can keep him there without alerting the rest of the family. Taggert says he’ll be Sonny’s neighbor. 2020 has been a helluva ride. He ain’t kiddin’ there.

Maxie tells Peter, she can’t wait to see pictures. She knows she’s biased, but Georgie and James are the most adorable kids on the planet. Peter says, and soon to be joined by another most adorable kid on the planet. Maxie says she’ll be right back. She gets up, and says she knows Peter is worried about work, but whatever problems he’s having, he’ll find a way around them. She leaves.

Sam tells Spinelli that Peter never confirmed his involvement when he spoke to Helena. Spinelli says, Peter is too cagey for a direct admission. That will come when he reacts to Helena’s call. Sam says, speak of the devil, and hooks the computer into a phone. Peter is calling.

Sam and Spinelli listen in as Peter tells faux Helena, if she is who she says she is, they need to meet. Tomorrow night. Sam and Spinelli fist bump.

Alex answers the door to the trick-or-treaters, and says, don’t you look to die for? She passes out candy, while Anna lies unconscious in the basement.

On Monday, Carly tells Josslyn, today is her first election; a mock election involving woman’s suffrage is held; and Trina tells Josslyn, they’re making choices and making their voices heard.

It might not be the same this year, but don’t let the pandemic bring down your Halloween spirit. Play by the rules, but by all means, do some playing this weekend. Zoom your Halloween, TikTok a Halloween dance, enjoy the wide array of horror films available, carve a pumpkin or make a pie with it, eat all the candy if you have no trick-or-treaters, but be smart about passing out candy if you do.  Stay safe, stay responsible, and stay conjuring up the kid in you, and being creative on this most creative of holidays.
